Given that digitization had such a transformative effect on customer behavior and relationships, it is perhaps not surprising that many organizations focused their digital transformation efforts on the customer experience front-end. However, in the race to focus on the customer, it was all too easy to ignore operations. Our 2013 research with MIT Sloan Management Review found that while 40% of digital initiatives were focused on the customer experience, this dropped to 26% for operations. Times are changing, however. Our latest survey of more than 600 executives from the US, Europe and China finds that over 70% of organizations now put more emphasis on operations than on consumer-focused processes for their analytics initiatives. Analytics in operations is increasingly seen as a strategic priority for organizations. Over 80% of respondents agreed that analytics in operations plays a pivotal role in driving profits or creating competitive advantage

The need, applications, challenges, new trends and a consulting perspective (Why is Big Data a strategic need for optimization of organizational processes especially in the business domains and what is the consultant’s role?) With every transaction and activity, organizations churn out data. This process happens even in the case of idle operation. Hence, data needs to be effectively analyzed to manage all processes better. Data can be used to make sense of the current situation and predict outcomes. It also can be used to optimize business processes and operations. This is easier said than done as data is being produced at an unprecedented rate, huge volumes and a high degree of variety. For the outcome of the data analysis to be relevant, all the data sets must be factored in to the analysis and predictions. This is where big data analysis comes in with its sophisticated tools that are also now easy on the pocket if one prefers the open source. The future of high potential marketing lead generation would be based on big data. Virtually every business vertical can benefit from big data initiatives. Even those without deep pockets can use the cloud model for business analytics/big data analysis. Some challenges remain to be addressed to engender large scale adoption but the current benefits outweigh the concerns. India has seen a massive growth in big data adoption and the trend will grow though it is generally amongst the bigger players. As quality of data improves and customer reluctance to being honest when they volunteer data reduces, the forecasts will become more accurate and Big Data will have come to its rightful place as a key enabler.

Blood Donation Management System is a web database application that enables the public to make online session reservation, to view nationwide blood donation events online and at the same time provides centralized donor and blood stock database. This application is developed by using ASP.NET technology from Visual Studio with the MySQL 5.0 as the database management system. The methodology used to develop this system as a whole is Object Oriented Analysis and Design; whilst, the database for BDMS is developed by following the steps in Database Life Cycle. The targeted users for this application are the public who is eligible to donate blood ,'system moderator, administrator from National Blood Center and the staffs who are working in the blood banks of the participating hospitals. The main objective of the development of this application is to overcome the problems that exist in the current system, which are the lack of facilities for online session reservation and online advertising on the nationwide blood donation events, and also decentralized donor and blood stock database. Besides, extra features in the system such as security protection by using password, generating reports, reminders of blood stock shortage and workflow tracking can even enhance the efficiency of the management in the blood banks. The final result of this project is the development of web database application, which is the BDMS.

However, traditional forecastingtechniqueshavelimitations that can make it challenging to make accurate predictions. One of the main limitations of traditional forecasting techniques is that they often rely on historical data and limited variables. This can lead to less accurate predictions because historical data may not reflect current trends, and limited variables may not capture all the factors that can impact demand. For example, historical sales data may not account for changes in consumer preferencesorcompetitive pressures, while limited variables may not capture external factors like weather, economic conditions, or social trends. Big data analytics offers a solution to these limitations by enabling the analysis of vast amounts of data from multiple sources. By combining and analyzing data from various sources, businesses can identify patterns and trends that may not be immediately obvious, allowing them to make more accurate predictions about future demand. For example, by analyzing data from social media, businesses can identify emerging trends and changes in consumer preferences, while weatherdata canhelppredictdemandfor seasonal products. [1] Another advantage of big data analytics is its ability to handle real-time data. This is particularly important for businesses that experience sudden spikes in demand or unexpected supply chain disruptions. By continuously monitoring data from various sources, businesses can quickly respond to changes in demand and adjust their production and inventory levels accordingly. For example, a retailer can use real-time sales data to adjust inventory levels or offer promotions to boost sales. In addition to improving demand forecasting, big data analytics can also help businesses optimize theirproduction processes. By analyzing data from production lines and supply chains, businesses can identify bottlenecksandother inefficiencies. For example, data on machine utilization can help identify areas where production can be streamlined, reducing costs and improving efficiency. [2] Finally, big data analytics can help businesses improve customer satisfactionbyensuringthatproductsareavailable when customers need them. By accurately predicting demand and maintaining appropriate inventory levels, businesses can avoid stockouts and ensure that customers have access to the products they want. However, these techniques have limitations, including the inability to handle complex relationships between variables and the difficulty in accounting for unforeseen events. Big data analytics, on the other hand, allows for the analysis of largevolumesofdata frommultiple sources, including social media, IoT sensors, and customer feedback, providinga morecomprehensiveunderstandingof the factors that impact production and inventory. Research has shown that big data analytics can significantly improve forecasting accuracy. For example, a study by McKinsey found that retailers thatusedbigdata analyticsfor forecasting experienced a 20-30% reduction in inventory costs and a 10-15% increase in sales. Another study by MIT found that big data analytics can reduce forecasting errors by up to 50%. There are numerous applications of big data analytics in production and inventory forecasting. For example, predictive maintenance can be used to forecast equipment failures, reducing downtime and increasing efficiency. Demand forecasting can help businesses predict future customer needs, reducing inventory costs and waste. Additionally, sentiment analysis of customer feedback can provide insights into customer preferences and trends, enabling businesses to make informed decisions about product development and marketing. Case studies have shown successful implementation of big data analytics in forecasting. For example, Walmart usedbig data analytics to optimize inventory management, resulting in a 10% increase in online sales and a 6% increase in in- store sales. Another example is General Electric, which used predictive maintenance to reduce downtime by 20% and save $125 million in costs. 3. METHODOLOGY The methodology used in this paper involves a combination of primary and secondary data. The secondary data consists of a literature review of existing studies and case studies of successful implementation of big data analytics in forecasting. The purpose of the literature review is togather information about the theoretical underpinnings of big data analytics and its application in production and inventory forecasting. The case studies are used to provide real-world examples of how big data analytics can be used to improve forecasting accuracy. In addition to the secondary data, primary data is collected through surveys and interviews with businesses that have implemented big data analytics in their production and inventory forecasting. The purpose of the surveys and interviews is to gather information about the challengesand benefits of implementing big data analytics and to identify best practices for using these techniques. The analytical techniques used for forecasting include machine learning algorithms such as decision trees, random forests, and neural networks. These algorithms are used to analyze the data collected from both primary and secondary sources. Machine learning algorithms are well-suited for analyzing large data sets and identifyingpatternsandtrends that may not be immediately obvious. The output of these algorithms is used to make more accurate predictions about future demand,optimizeproductionprocesses,andmaintain appropriate inventory levels. [4] To analyze the data, software such as R, Python,andTableau is used. These software packages are commonly used in the field of data science and are well-suited for analyzing large data sets. R and Python are used for data processing and running machine learning algorithms, while Tableau is used for data visualization and reporting. In summary, the methodology used in this paper involves a combination of primary and secondary data. RESULTS The results of the analysis suggest that big data analyticscan significantly improve production and inventory forecasting accuracy compared to traditional techniques. This allows for more accurate predictions of demand, production levels, and inventory needs. The use of machine learning algorithms is a key factor in the improved accuracy of big data analytics-based techniques.
