8th November Analysis
During the course of this analytical essay it can be shown that the two pieces, 8th November and
(We ll Be Singing Hallelujah) Marching through Berlin, express emotions and replicate the soldiers
memories of during and after the wars through the use of musical elements. It can be established
that the first song, 8th November reflects the Vietnam War, through the use of Dynamics, Pitch and
Timbre. Similarly, the second piece evaluated and analysed, (We ll Be Singing Hallelujah)
Marching through Berlin also utilises the musical elements of Dynamics, Pitch and Timbre to
reflect emotions and memories of past and present soldiers. The wars that these songs are about, the
Vietnam War (occurring between the years 1955 and 1975, involving many countries... Show more

There are 5 different chords used in 8th November, being, A, G, D, D/F# and F3. These chords
change through the verse to the chorus and back again and also alter slightly in the intro (same
and the break down chorus). This specific chord progression can be easily learnt so soldiers and
other performers may be able to learn and play in front of an audience. There is both a melody
and a harmony between the two vocalists, Big Kenny and John Rich, and the instruments, which
is easy to recognise and remember. The melody of 8th November is mostly in steps4, also
adding to why it is considered a conjunct song, but also involves a few leaps5 making small
sections of the piece disjunct. The guitar riff is repeated throughout the song making it Ostinato,
or the same note pattern. The melodic elements of this song make it have a minor tonality or a
sadder tone to it. The contour6 of this piece is undulating as it is smooth as it progresses. There is
also a harmony in 8th November which is between the two vocals of Big Kenny and John Rich.
The consonant sounds between the vocalists are mainly heard in the chorus, although there are a
few harmonies during the verses. There are no dissonant (unstable notes or notes that cause a lot of
tension, demanding to move onto a consonant sound) sounds or diagonance. This piece uses both
major and minor chords and scales. The harmonic character is calm

Democratic Or Republican Essay
Banjade 7
Pratiksha Banjade Professor Sherry Sharifian GOVT 2306 71003 2nd October,2017.
Democratic or Republican?
I have been in Texas from ten months for pursuing my further education. The place where I am
currently dwelling i.e. 3225 West Walnut Hill Lane, Irving, Texas is numbered as district 16. 1 As
per the research, I found that Don Huffines represents district 16 in the Texassenate. It is full of
diverse population providing several opportunities to its citizens. 2 Around 846,307 people are
living in district 16 in which 7.2% of the total population are below five years old, 17.1% belong to
the age group from 5 to 17, 65.8% of the total population includes people of age from 18 to 64 and
9.8% are the age group above 65 years old. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As per the results of two surveys, I was categorized as a liberal person. I count myself as the
supporter of Democratic party in USA. However, Don Huffines who is the representative of Texas
senate from district 16 is from Republican party who tries to expand his conservative philosophy.
One of the issues I stand against is for the right to keep and bear arms. The Republican party
supports the right to keep guns but the Democratic party is against it and so am I. In this issue,
my ideas diverge with the Republican party since it opposes the laws which limit the open use
of guns. Even Don Huffines states that every Texans should have legal rights to possess their
fire arms. Republican party are against the tax regulations of guns and argue to make a strong
law for carrying guns as they believe that it s God given right. However, I am against this action
of Don Huffines as it can be more severe in some contexts. Recently, even in my college
Northlake college of Irving, a girl was murdered by a guy who had gun which happened when I
was there. What is the guarantee that such acts will not be repeated in future? Carrying guns can
be easy processes to threaten anyone showing its power and as an international student, it
sometimes scares me. Obviously, by carrying guns and other arms, one can have personal
protection but it s not a wiser decision to

Charlie Chaplin s Contributions to the Film Industry
Charlie Chaplin Every day millions of Americans go to theaters with their families to enjoy
movies. Watching films has become one of the most popular activities to do. Although plenty of
people know of Charlie Chaplin, most do not know any real information about him. Charlie
Chaplin has been a major contributor to America s advancement in the film industry from his
innovative beginnings, and perseverance to improve and succeed, to his overall achievements
in history. Charlie Chaplin was born in South London on April 16, 1889. He was the first child
of Hannah and Charles Chaplin. Charles was vaudeville actor. Hannah was a vaudeville singer.
Charlie s father was a drunk and he later left his family when he was three years old when he
found out his wife had an affair with another actor, Leo Dryden. They soon had a child named
George, who left to live with his father. Since Hannah was now a single mother, she was
struggling to find a way to provide for her children. She had another son that was older than
Charlie, from a previous relationship (Schwartz). Hannah s singing alone was not enough to
earn her the money to care for two boys. She took up sweatshop work on a sewing machine she
rented to earn extra income. Due to the small amount of income they had, Charlie s family
moved in and out of orphanages and boys homes on a regular basis. Hannah s career as a singer
ended abruptly in 1894. She lost her voice during a performance. While the crowd was getting

Roman Architecture Essay
When one thinks of Roman architecture, many things come to mind, such as arches, columns,
statues, and richly covered surfaces in marbles. One must stop to think that this empire, which
gained power and influence in the first century BC, must have been influenced from the thousands
of years of cultures preceding them in order to create their masterpieces of ingenuity. This
phenomenon can be seen in our borrowing of ideas of ancient Greece and Romefor the construction
of our capitol buildings in the United States. The Romans surely considered design principles of
other cultures when developing their buildings, since daily conquests of new lands opened Roman
soldiers eyes to innovations from the great vastness of their empire. This... Show more content on

Doing so, he managed to design the most captivating section of his estate, the Great Canopus and
Serapeum, which have roots in ancient architecture, while also displaying Hadrian s own capability
to produce innovative designs through many different elements of their construction.
Ancient Egypt, which lasted as a powerful empire from 3150 to 30 BC, left a huge legacy on the
world of construction and architecture. Although their architecture revolved around veneration of
the dead, it served as inspiration to many Greek buildings and as a key source for Hadrian s
Canopus design. Through his travels to Alexandria, Egypt, Hadrian was inspired for the overall
design of the estate by attempting to recreate an Alexandrian garden with sacred landscapes, as
seen through the Villa s structures conforming to the terrain. Unfortunately, in the 16th century
AD, these example of an Alexandrian garden, created through the use of statuary and fountains
were removed from Hadrian s villa and re used in order to create a Renaissance garden based
upon Roman ideals of gardening. The large lake in the center of the Canopus is representative of
a branch of the Nile River that connects Alexandria to the Egyptian city of Canopus on the Nile
Delta, for which this section of his villa was named after. The city of Canopus was long revered for
its great nocturnal celebrations for which Hadrian wanted to recreate through

Madness In H. P. Lovecraft s Temple
H.P. Lovecraft s Temple tells the story of how a German crew on a badly damaged ship during
World War Two slowly descends into madness. A combination of odd sightings, fear, illness, and
eventually violence and suicide leave the protagonist, Karl Heinrich, all by himself on a doomed
ocean voyage. By the end of the story, Heinrich senses that he is going mad. He believes to have
found the lost city of Atlantis, and ultimately dies while exploring it. An episode of Star Trek:
Voyager titled Bliss deals with the similar theme of a descent into madness. This sciencefiction1990

The crew is terribly afraid of being lost in space forever. When the crew finds an unstable
wormhole that appears to be a direct route back to Earth, they jump at the chance. However, the
crew of the starship has one member who is not from the Alpha Quadrant, where earth and the
other crew member s alien home worlds are located. This crew member, named Seven, is the
only one who has no desire to ever return home, since she never had a home. Therefore, she is the
only character not afraid of being lost in space forever, since she is perfectly content there.
Seven analyzes the wormhole with the ship s sensors. With these sensors, she finds clear
evidence that the wormhole is not a wormhole at all, but rather some sort of elaborate alien
deception, trying to lure the crew into their grasp. Despite her clear evidence that the wormhole is
an alien trap, the crew is so afraid of being stuck in space forever that they enter the wormhole
anyway. Their fear of being lost forever in space overcame all of the rational though that Seven
presented them with. Their fear drove them to do the unthinkable. It is not only in fictional stories

The Tragic Hero Of Euripides Medea

Period 5
Tragic Hero in Euripides Medea
Aristotle cites that, A man cannot become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall.
Consistent to Aristotle s characteristics of a tragic hero, the tragic hero must fit the requirements
of being noble and employed in a high standing position of society. There should be a tragic flaw
that ultimately leads to his downfall, and those reading the play must feel pity for this character as
he goes through necessary changes as a result of his flaw. Aristotle illustrates a tragic heroas one
who falls from grace into a state of acute misery. In Euripides Medea, the tragic hero is Jason, a
man of noble birth who falls from being honored and respected due to a flaw in his character,
that flaw being adultery. His adultery leads to terrible outcomes, the deaths of many people, and
his loss of all the things he loved. His character is an excellent example of the heroes who rise
high, then ultimately fail due to their own nature. By the end of the play he realizes his errors
and becomes negligible. Some may argue that Medea is the tragic hero in the play, but this
reasoning is flawed because Medea has no single flaw, she has exuded a sadistic nature from the
start, from her actions involving the Golden Fleece to her killing her own offspring. Jason suffers
from the fatal flaw of adultery that ultimately destines him for ruin, making it is clear that he serves
as the tragic hero in Euripides

Hershey s Way Of Making Chocolate
Chocolate is one of the most popular products consumed in the United States and all around the
world. Hershey Chocolate Company originated in 1894, by Milton Hershey (Hershey Company,
2015). He was the first American who began producing milk chocolate bars, and eventually
created multiple flavors that changed the chocolate industry forever. With such mass production
and success, Hershey was able to make milk chocolate, a once luxury item for the wealthy, into
an affordable treat for all (Hershey Company, 2015). Hershey s way of making chocolate is one of
a kind. Hershey starts the chocolate making process by importing cocoa beans from cacao trees
found in tropical regions near the equator. Cacao is ultimately the key ingredient to... Show more

The milk is mixed with sugar into a taffy like consistency where it will then be blended with
chocolate liquor. The milk adds the sweet taste and smooth texture while the chocolate liquor
adds the chocolate flavor. By combining chocolate liquor, milk and sugar it creates a chocolate
crumb where it is then ground into a fine powder to create chocolate paste. The chocolate paste
is refined in the conching machine where it brings out more of the rich chocolate flavor. The
final step to Hershey s chocolate making process is sending the chocolate to the drying rack
where it will be cooled, wrapped and distributed all around the world for consumption. For the S
mores taste test, four different types of Hershey chocolate were used to conduct the experiment.
There are multiple differences between all four types of Hershey s chocolates and ingredients
used to make them. Milk Chocolate(remove comma)is Hershey s signature chocolate and sold
in the masses. This product goes in most Hershey products such as the chocolate bars, kisses,
etc. Hershey s milk chocolate is very smooth, and even has a little gritty texture. This chocolate
is very sweet and not too chocolaty. Hershey s milk chocolate contains milk, which gives it a
creamy texture, sweet flavor and a light brown color. Hershey s special dark chocolate is a lot
different than milk chocolate is it is not the most popular flavor Hershey sells. Dark chocolate
provides a semi sweet, slightly bitter flavor

The Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs....
The Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson reveals that the ghastly
depiction of the Indian religion (or what Rowlandson perceives as a lack of religion) in the
narrative is directly related to the ideologies of her Puritan upbringing. Furthermore, Rowlandson s
experiences in captivity and encounter with the new, or Other religionof the Indians cause her
rethink, and question her past; her experiences do not however cause her to redirect her life or
change her ideals in any way. The function of religion plays a significant role in the narrative,
especially the dissimilarities between the narrator s religious beliefs and the Other religion of her
captors. More specifically the Puritanideology of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is clear that Mary Rowlandson s encounter with the Other causes her to doubt her past,
specifically her devotion to God. At the end of the narrative Rowlandson confirms this claim
with the remark: When I lived in prosperity; having the comforts of this World about me, my
Relations by me, and my heart cheerful: and taking little care for any thing; and yet seeing many
(whom I preferred before myself) under many trials and afflictions, in sickness, weakness,
poverty, losses, crosses, and cares of the Worlds, I should be sometimes jealous least I should
have my portion in this lifeВ…but now I see the Lord had his time to scourge and chasten me
(50). The evidence from the narrative in many ways could characterize this work as a text in which
the narrator (Mary Rowlandson) realizes her mistakes in the past and redirects her life accordingly.
This is not true in the case of Rowlandson, to be more specific her experiences and interaction with
the Indians do not challenge her Puritan ideologies, but rather confirms and strengthens them.
When the narrator returns to her former lifestyle she in no way demonstrates any new knowledge
from her experience, but rather returns home with the same degree of ignorance that she had before
her captivity. Rowlandson also contradicts herself in

Negative Side Of Sweatshops

Although sweatshops get a bad name for their conditions, it has been shown and documented that
sweatshops actually benefit people by occupying them with jobs they wouldn t get anywhere else,
as well as help boost the economy. Sweatshops have been known to boost economies in areas
where poverty is an issue. They offer jobs and shelter from the streets. When someone hears the
word sweatshop they think of child labor, Most people are too focused on the negative side of
sweatshops that they can t see the side that benefits and aids the people of its surroundings. In the
grand scheme of things, The good of sweatshops outweighs the bad. Even though the positive side
of sweatshops outweighs the negative side, their is still an opposing opinion that many people
stand by. They stand on the side regarding sweatshops, the working conditions they provide and
that they should be outlawed. In the article titled Crammed into squalid factories to produce
clothes for the West on just 20p a day, the children forced to work in horrific unregulated
workshops of Bangladesh , Photographer Claudio Montesano Casillas, documents the horrible yet
intriguing conditions of a Garment Sweatshop in Bangladesh. She states that they produce clothes
on just 20P a day, and are forced to work in horribly unsafe conditions. From this article, you can

Punk In Der Ddr Analysis
This display of the potential of fashion as expression directly correlates with the relationship that
the punk scene of the GDR would develop with clothing. While likely the fictional character of
Sunny would not have so intentionally, by dressing in her modern, occasionally androgynous
outfits she was using style as a way of isolating herself from her setting. In the novel Punk In Der
Ddr: Too Much Future it is explained that the punks were no longer GDR citizens, they behaved as
if they were in London and had fled the country though still being present within it. For punks both
in the GDR and globally, fashion was an incredibly important tool to distinguish yourself from the
majority. Sunny, in spite facing judgement and the punks, in spite... Show more content on

The significance of punk in the GDR, which is already a socialist, not capitalist society is
inherently different. Many of the things British and American punks struggles with the most in
their society s where things the GDR itself assured to its citizens by granting them accessible,
state founded healthcare and education, as well as assigned job placements. In the government s
pursuit to provide a guaranteed quality of life, it increasingly extended its control into the details
of its citizens lives, leaving some, like the members of GDR punk movement, to feel as though
their autonomy of their future had been stripped from them. By the end of the film, Sunny has
gained almost complete of control over the direction of her life. She has rejected the opportunity
of returning to the stability of a factory job and has disconnected herself from her every potential
romantic partner presented in the film, making it clear she will not submit her autonomy in order
to benefit the GDR s economy or their declining population rate. In the optimistic closing scene of
Solo Sunny, her last line, I sleep with someone when I feel like it, I call a pig a pig, I m the one
who was thrown out of The Tornadoes, my name is Sunny, demonstrates she has finally become in
touch with her own reality and identity.

Hair Styles and Make-up of the Renaissance
Hair styles and make up have been a significant part of the culture for centuries. It has been
changing with every era, decade or style of art. The difference can be as small as a change of a
shape of the eyeliner or it can be a complete change of people s looks. What was considered
beautiful in Renaissance was absolutely outdated 100 years after this era. In this essay I will be
talking about the hair and make up in Renaissance. It all started in Italy, home of the greatest artists
of the time. The first section of my essay will be about Italy and the way people were changing
their natural appearances using various products. In the second section I will move to the north of
Europe to explore a bit more about this topic and see how much the fashion that was set in Italy has
changed. In the third section I will look at what was going on in the Great Britain and compare the
Elizabethan hair and make up to the continental style.
Italy has always been a cultural capital, at least in the eyes of people who have taught me history
and art. Majestic buildings, amazing paintings, impressive statues that is just a fraction of what
was created in Italy. Renaissance is a unique era, after the Gothic art strictly controlled by the
Christian Church; people are turning their eyes away from the God and the God alone to
themselves as well. Leonardo Da Vinci is studying anatomy and people are trying to look their best.
Portraits of real people come back after years and years of portraying

another problem of equal or bigger importance than deforestation: chemical pollution. Extracting
cocaine from coca leaves is not an easy thing to do and it requires the use of many dangerous

Helen Edmundson, Tom was the most influential person in shaping Maggie because she loved him
greatly. Each time she changes herself it is triggered by Tom s actions and each version of Maggie
portrays a different aspect of Tom s influences. Ultimately, Tom is the reason that Maggie changes
herself this can be seen in many of their interactions.
From the beginning of the play, it can be seen how much love Maggie holds for Tom. She was
always completely affectionate towards, often running up to him and kissing him. In scene four,

This is the first time in the play where she begins to speak for herself against Tom, at least at the
end of the scene. It first starts out with her a Phillip professing their love for each other then Tom
interrupting and demanding Maggie choose between them (Edmundson, 49 51). It is not until
he seizes her wrist and pulls her (Edmundson, 51) away from Phillip that Maggie realizes that
Tom is a bad influence on her. She realizes how he has never shown her the affection and love
that she always willingly gave to him. At this point, she breaks from her submissive self to stand

herself from Tom, she still feels indebted to him. She seeks him out to ask permission to see
Phillip after all this time. Tom still has power over her with the promise she made years ago that
she cannot break. This promise would be the easiest to break without Tom even knowing what is
going on because she has distanced herself from him. In this moment, when she has the upper

Professionalism Definition
I have an extremely broad definition for professionalism. Overall, I believe that professionalism is
a multidimensional term that refers to many ideal qualities associated with respectable,
professional individuals. These individuals have chosen to conduct themselves in the best ways
possible in all areas related to their career and work. In my opinion, individuals exhibit
professionalism when they are highly self disciplined, competent, experienced, and well mannered.
In addition to this, I believe professionalism refers to those that are good decision makers and
individuals that strongly adhere to ethical guidelines. I believe the term also characterizes those

leave. From a moral standpoint and my Christian faith, I strive to be a caring, loving person in
all my social interactions. I try to display this when deemed appropriate to be an encouraging
presence in a dark place. Therefore, it may seem odd for one such as myself to deny a hug from a
youth that has been ripped from their family due to neglect and/or abuse. However, Rogers County
Youth Services made me sign an ethical contract that specifically stated that I was restricted from
hugging any of the residents in the shelter no matter what. Although my moral compass may lead
me to disregard this statement in certain extreme scenarios, I have an obligation to conduct myself
in an ethical, professional manner while interning. I believe this is an excellent rule at the shelter
because it protects the individual and the organization from a wide variety of repercussions that
could result from hugging a resident. Nonetheless, it is a rule that could be challenging for many
to follow in situations where a young victim of abuse is asking for a

Manoeuvrist Approach, Mission Command And OODA Loopist...
In order to be able to answer on those questions it will be necessary firstly to explain basic
theoretical points about Manoeuvrist Approach, Mission command and OODA loop cycle.
Throughout history, military theorists and commanders have attempted to determine and define the
most effective way to defeat an adversary and achieve victory. British military doctrine defines this
method as the Manoeuvrist Approach or indirect approach, which main focus is basically on
attacking enemy s cohesion and will to fight rather than focusing purely on the destruction of his
physical component. The approach itself is based on manoeuvre theory, which relies on speed,
deception, surprise, and the application of firepower and movement or application of own strengths

OODA loop (observe orient decide act) is theory presented by American John Boyd and its
essence is to be faster through OODA loop cycle than the enemy. If we can consistently go
through the OODA cycle faster than the enemy, make faster decisions and act before him, we
gain an advantage and enemy loses his cohesion until he can no longer fight as an effective,
organized force. However, in order to be faster than enemy some preconditions have to be
achieved. Firstly, according to Boyd, only decentralized military with application of mission
command can have a fast OODA loop. Secondly, through decentralization, to operate
successfully in fog of war we need to accept confusion and disorder, and also to generate them.
Thirdly, while operating in confusion and disorder we need to avoid all patterns, recipes and
formulas, because if our tactics follow predictable patterns, the enemy can predict our actions and
easily cut inside our OODA Loop. And lastly, we should never do the same thing twice because
even if something works well for us once, by the second time the enemy will have

Reign Of Terror Essay
The Reign of Terror, which lasted about a year, was part of the French Revolution. Leaded by
Maximilien Robespierre, the Reign of Terror was the beheading of thousands of people who

Space Race During the Cold War between Russia and the U.S. there was a time called the space
race. During which both countries rushed to have the best space developments than the other did.
One of the main things was to be the first to get someone in space. As Russia and the U.S.
continued the race little did they know they were advancing technology for the world. When
Russia got something in space so did the U.S. and the race continued. As soon as Russia got a

Fast And Furious Character Analysis
Title: How Paul Walker Completely Changed Action and Drama Movies
Who isn t familiar with Brian O Conner, the ex cop yet beloved brother of Dominic Toretto? Yes,
this is dealing with Fast and Furious Paul Walker. Before Fast and Furious, Paul Walker had
been a part of everything from Highway to Heaven to The Skulls. Many people are not aware of
this, though. Could this have been what set the bar for his dominant and irreplaceable role as
Brian O Connor? Yes, it could have been; however, his most famous role was as THE Brian O
Connor. The films set his identity as an actor, but did the films have an effect on the society around
us? Did any of his character Brian O Connor s actions influence any outrageous behavior, such as

What are the clichГ© characters? ClichГ© characters are characters that are known to be overused
time and time again. This character is pretty predictable and one can usually assert what will
happen to them during the film. An example of a clichГ© character would be Harry Potter. With
Harry, one could argue that his clichГ© characteristics are being an orphan and having to face
Lord Voldemort to save the world. However, Fast and Furious showcased how not to have clichГ©
characters. This could be argued with Paul Walkeras Brian O Connor. Brian went from being an
undercover cop to an undercover agent, then he became known as a criminal and well known
brother of Dominic Toretto. Normally, when this happens, not many actors could pull this off
and still be loved on and off screen. Brian did come a long way, but he ended up becoming the
heart of the entire franchise. This showed that a character can contain multiple identities, but
still maintain an interest of the audience. After this was done with Brian O Connor, it drew
many people towards Paul Walker for what he was able to do. It is not easy playing different
roles and keeping the initial view of that initial character; however, Paul Walker did the
impossible and Brian O Connor remained a key character in the franchise. He even earned a
special dedication in the end of Furious 7, after Paul s sudden death. There are not many
characters who are even thought about to be given a dedication in a film, yet Brian O Connor was

Sara Lee Corporation (Case study)
1. Executive Summary
This case study provides an evaluation of Sara Lee Corporation and particularly its operations of
product lines available through the Wal Mart stores. To begin with, an effective SWOT analysis of
the company was conducted where strengths and opportunities are identified while addressing
possible threats and improving its weaknesses to avoid giving the competition an aggressive
advantage. Marketing requires effective identification of issues as a key factor in devising the best
methods of addressing them. Therefore, Kirk Nelson identifies the BasicHipster style to be a major

Threats
Notably, Sara Lee had one key threat to its operation in its Wal Mart Account, the Fruit of the
Loom brand. Global competition was fast emerging in regions such as Eastern Europe, South East
Asia and the Middle East powered by technology and cheap labor. Due to this global atmosphere,
Fruit of the Loom rose as the main competition in the underwear category (Case 426).
4. Case Analysis
Sara Lee Wal Mart account division analysis was the most effective at marketing as it provided a
crosscutting evaluation of the product s performance. Kirk Nelson was deeply involved in
generating the most recent information before meeting his boss (Case p.425). As a result, it acted
as a critical organization in promoting sales at the stores at low prices and sustainable supplies
(Case 427). As a result, this relationship promoted the internal sales at Wal Mart while creating the
needed impression in other external Sara Lee branches. In addition to that, the corporation had an
effective supply from its widespread supply chain by maintaining distribution centers for its
products (Case 427).
To ensure that the products, promotion, and pricing were perfect, the analysts recommendations
were subjected to extra scrutiny and further refinement. This reduced possible cannibalization and
provided more effective recommendations on aspects such as replacements of less performing
products. Even after analyzing the

Ambush By Tim O Brien Summary
War Changes People (A Discussion of 3 Messages from Ambush) Sometimes the smallest things
can be the biggest surprises. Tim O Brien is an award winning fiction writer. He wrote a short
story, Ambush, about a man, Tim, who has gone to war and ended up throwing a grenade and
killing another soldier. He felt very guilty and ever since has always remembered it. The soldiers
also carry stories: stories that connect the past to the future ... (Calloway). These stories are
never forgotten and will forever be known and thought about. Many events that happen in this
story come out surprising to the readers. In Ambush, by Tim O Brien, there are 3 important
messages or big surprises. The biggest and most obvious surprise in Tim O Brien s story,
Ambush, is when Tim threw the back the grenade, killing the other soldier. This was a big
surprise because the man wasn t into killing people and never really wanted to kill anybody. He
was really shocked that he did that and felt guilty afterwards. In Ambush, by Tim O Brien he
says, There was no thoughts about killing (O Brien 812). It was never his goal to kill the guy,
but it was his duty and mission as a soldier. Later, his friend then told him that it was a good kill

She was afraid that her Kai was going to leave her and find someone else. She then started acting

Kai and Faye adopted 3 children, a boy a two girls. I seems like they were from Vietnam because
she say they had small faces and large dark eyes full of fear. It was noticeable the tragedies of war,
death and poverty in their eyes. Time passed and everything seem to be working out, the kid s faces
are full of joy as well as Kai s eyes. Faye deeply inside knew that she was everything to Kai, To hi,
she was the only woman, beautiful, complete, whole (38). The story A Sorrowful Women by
Gail Godwin describes a woman that seems to be exhausted of her family and life. Unlike the
first story, this is about a married couple who already have a child. The narrator does not give
names to the characters and he/she engages on a third person role to tell the story. This story
carries a depressing, sad and dark mood. The wife, one night tells her husband if he could put the
boy to bed and read him the story about the monkey who ate too many bananas(39) since she was
already tired of doing all the work at home. The husband thought she just needed a break, and he
assume that there s nothing wrong with the idea of taking care of the child, therefore he happily
agreed to take care of the kid. Since that evening the husband noticed that his

An Examination Of Post Event Information ( Pei )
Another form of Post event information (PEI) is conformity, in the event that an individual
witnesses a crime committed there is always the potential that there are co witnesses that also
witnessed the crime, while an increase in witnesses may hold some positives there is the potential
for conformity. Conformity takes place when one witnesses memories of a past event become
more like another person s described memories of the same event (Kieckhaefer, J.M. Wright, D.B.,
2015, pg. 462). Co witnesses often alter their memoryreports to coincide with other witnesses
reports (Goodwin K.A. et al., 2013, pg. 91). If a co witnessis a friend or family then an individual is
even more likely to conform to their views than they would be if the co witness was a stranger.
Kieckhaefer and Wright also found evidence that another factor that increases a witnesses
memory conformity is if the co witness is likable(Kieckhaefer, J.M. Wright, D.B., 2015, pg. 463).
There have been multiple studies conducted where researchers use confederates, research helpers
used to feed unknowing participants information, to determine whether or not participants will
conform to the confederate s reports (Goodwin, K.A. et al., 2013, pg. 91). Furthermore, witnesses
are more likely to alter their views when they are motivated to avoid deviating from the group.
Therefore, if a group of other individuals pressure a witness they are likely to alter their experience
to fit with others (Goodwin, K.A. et al.,

Paul s Life And Ministry
Paul s Life and Ministry There is much to be learned from the life and ministry of the Apostle
Paul. Far from ordinary, within the scope of God s purpose was the selection of a man who would
be chiefly responsible for carrying out the postresurrection commission of Jesus to the Twelve by
proclaiming the fulfilment of the promise of Abraham (McRay, 2003). This man was Paul of Tarsus
(Gal. 1:15 16), who s story is one of redemption in Christ coupled with a testimony that no one is
beyond the saving grace of the Lord JesusChrist.
Paul s early life
Paul, who was actually named Saul was born and spent his earliest years in the Diaspora, the
dispersion of the Jews outside the borders of the Holy Land (McRay, 2003). He was from a
devout Jewish family that residing in the city of Tarsus in Cilicia, which at the time was
considered as one of the largest trade centers on the Mediterranean coast. Not much is known as to
how Paul s family became Roman citizens, but Paul himself was identified as a born citizen (Acts
22:27 28). However, his lineage can be traced to the Hebrew tribe of Benjamin. In addition to being
associated with the tribe of Benjamin, the family had a history of religious devoutness. For the
family s religious devoutness was further revealed when traces of extensive attachment to Pharisaic
traditions and observation throughout the generations were unveiled (Gundry, 1970).

Comparing The Alien And Forgotten Planet By Doug Delanty
From the moment they are born, children are wondering about their world. Parents often enjoy
watching their children grow up and reflect upon what they discovered and what they have yet to
discover. In The Alien , Greg Delanty is describing expecting parents questions while awaiting a
child. Similarly, in Forgotten Planet , Doug Dorph describes children s imaginationand compares it
to adulthood. The parents in these poems are able to rely upon space or visualize it as to having
an important role in the life of a child. Both The Alien by Greg Delanty and Forgotten Planet by
Doug Dorph use a motif of space as parents search to understand children; however, the parent
figures in the poems view space in different ways.
In The Alien , Delanty explains the anxious feeling that parents have before having a baby and
uses the motif of space to try to explain how parents try to answer some of the questions they have.
As the experience of having a child is new to these parents, they use a metaphor to compare their
child to an alien and a martian (Delanty 9, 11). This demonstrates that they are anxious because
they neither know how the child will behave nor how to cooperate with the new child. They also
have other questions about their coming child, expressed when Delanty writes, we re anxious/ to
make contact, to ask divers questions/ about the heavendom you hail from, to discuss/ the whole

King Leontes And Queen Hermione Analysis
In Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale, King Leontes and Queen Hermione are aided by their
servants during the play. Leontes s servant Camillo appears to be loyal at the beginning of the play
but quickly switches his loyalty to King Polixenes when the King discovers his drink was poisoned.
Hermione s servent Paulina is loyal the entire play because she is constantly arguing for Hermione s
innocence and fighting against Leontes s assumptions. As the maleservant, Camillo has an easier
role because he represents someone who will serve whoever he believes will allow him to live
which is why he becomes Polixenes s servant. As the female servant, Paulina takes on a more
challenging role and remains loyal to Hermione the entire play even if there are consequences from
Leontes. Solely based on the play, it is more difficult to be a female servant because Paulina had
to be loyal to her superior while Camillo took the easy route and switched his allegiance. At first,
Camillo is loyal to Leontes and even agrees to poison Polixenes because Leontes believes
Hermione slept with Polixenes. Camillo says Sir, my lord, I could do this, and that with no rash
potion, but with a lingering dram that should not work maliciously like poison, (I. 2. 318 321).
Camillo is saying that he can do the act with alcohol that works similarly to poison. By not using
actual poison, it shows that Camillo already is hesitant to go against Polixenes. Additionally,
Camillo says so sovereignly being honorable. I

Lastly, in the incident with Jonestown, showed the most extreme case of conformity and

For its time, Jim Jones was pushing past race and ethnicity and introducing a new church that
welcomed all people. Jones was the type of man that made people feel comfortable and at home;
maybe that is why so many people followed him when he moved his temple across the county and

Everyone has that best friend they believe they will have forever, they plan out their future
together, but that can all come crashing down. That is what happened with Jason James and I.
Jason was once my best friend, practically a brother, we did everything together. I was always
there for him, in the times when he needed someone the most. Jason James suffered from
depression, like me. Because I knew exactly what he was going through, we became close. But
there was always something off about our friendship. It was always about him. One day I got a text
from Jason saying he needed to get out of the house and just talk. I, of course, sprang to action. I
picked him up and we got ice cream and talked. I let him talk through what was going on, and
gave him the advice he needed. Then a couple days later I was having a rough day, and I just
wanted someone to talk to, I texted Jason hoping he could help. He said he would come over,
and be with me. But when he got there all he did was talk about him. Everything I would say he
would turn it around and make it about him. Although this did not happen all the time, it did most
often. Jason James was a negative influence on my life because our friendship was only about
him, he blamed me for every problem he faced, and he never truly cared. My friendship with
Jason James was always centered around him. I was the one who was constantly there for him

The Eye Motif In The Tell Tale Heart And The Raven By...
On January 19, 1809, Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts. In spite of
experiencing several tragedies throughout his life, Poe had a successful career by writing short
anecdotes. Most of Edgar Allan Poe s stories have been known for having recurring literary
devices such as motifs. The motifs of the eye and heart are found in the story The Tell Tale Heart
and The Pit and the Pendulum. However, in the Tell Tale Heart and the Raven, the motif that is
commonly used is the unnamed narrator. The reason for Poe using these motifs remains unknown
at first glance but, once analyzing these motifs, one can identify their purpose. To begin, the eye
motif is used in The Tell Tale Heart. The old man in the story, has cataract on his left

The plot of the story revolves around the motif of the eye and it also gives justification for the
narrator to kill the old man. Similarly, in The Pit and the Pendulum, the eye motif is utilized as
the driving force of the plot and affects the reader. The narrator of the story is captured by an
inquisitorial group and is tortured. In the story, I (the narrator) had scarcely stepped away from
the bed of horror when the hellish machine stopped. I saw it being pulled up through the ceiling
by some invisible force (Poe 145). Once the narrator narrowly escapes from the brutal slaying,
immediately, the pendulum stops moving. Starting and stopping the pendulum was done by
inquisitors who serve as eyes for the cult leader. Again, the plot action of this story is dependent on
the eye motif. When the narrator escapes from the binding, new problems arise for the narrator
because the people who were watching him (the eyes) immediately executed their next backup
plan. According to the text, after the pendulum stopped, I (The narrator) shrank from the glowing
metal to the center of the cell. I thought of the fiery destruction that was near (Poe 156). The
narrator needs to escape from the constant back up methods of torture implemented by the
tormentors. Back to back tortures caused by the inquisitors drive the story forward. In addition, this
constant escape also affects the reader as well. The eye (inquisitors) is the reason for deploying

Market And Competitor Analysis Paper
Market and Competitor Analysis
Retail is a large industry in the USA. According to a research, in 2014, the amount of total retail
and food service sales was 5.27 trillion U.S. dollars in the US (The Statistics Portal).
For Henwell, although since these two years which they entered to the joint venture in the US the
revenue has growth, the overall picture is not as good as had hoped. Following there are some
analysis about why Henwell has not been doing as well as expected.
1.PESTEL Analysis
1.1Social environment
Changes in lifestyle and trends.
As Henwell expected, they built square foot warehouse and distribution center and opening nearly
500 retail stores to appeal to customers who would shop frequently for fresh and healthy product, or

2.1 Store style
Market trends
In the US, supermarkets are the first choice for customers because they offer a large number and
different kinds of things to meet the needs of the consumers. In 2014, the annual value sales of
supermarkets reached US$ 365.4 billion so that they remain the top in grocery retailing channel
which account for above one third of grocery retailing value market. (Euromonitor International,
2015)
Thus, Henwell choose focus on small stores rather than hypermarkets mean that they wanted focus
more on fresh produce rather than branded goods. As we mentioned before, obviously, it is not a
right decision. Small stores cannot meet the needs of consumers as much as possible so that made
less profit than hoped.
2.2 Investment Returns Henwell wanted to expand the food and grocery market in the US.
However, they spent a large number of money to build an 850,000 square foot warehouse and
distribution center rather than used these money in their food goods. Their upfront costs are too
much, although they doubled the revenue over the last couple years, they results have not been
quite as good as expected especially the return of investment.

Optional Dispute Resolution
Mediation is a form of optional dispute resolution process. It can be applied in noncriminal cases
such as conflict resolution agreements, business, employment and so forth. To make mediation
process successful, all disputing parties must work cooperatively for resolution. The neutral
mediator is needed for this work who can negotiate the fair resolution of their dispute. Based on this
fact, this section wants to show some regulations that would be key factors to keeping mediator

The community and individual joint recognition of responsibilies are a positive value because
mediators would place the responsibility on building a new structure with maintaining a vital
mechanism for the direct expression and reduction of conflicts that would able to control in the
hands of the disputing parties (Berman, L. J. 2016). Discussion over mediation process is useful
when we considered three important aspects such as; preserving the important relationship,
allowing for sensitive negotiations to occur in private and allowing for negotiations to be
confidential. Finally, this paper would like to recommend an important mediation process that must
be discussed as advanced mediation course with understandable, convenient, comfortable,

Major Work Review
Significance of title The significance of the title of Angela s Ashes is up for debate. The title refers
to McCourt s mother, Angela; however, the ashes can have several different meanings. The ashes
could be related to the destruction of her family and loss of her children: Margaret, Eugene, and
Oliver. When they died, Angela was deeply depressed. Throughout the book McCourt mentions that
his mother glares toward the ashes falling from her cigarettes. Ashes are associated with death, dust,
and cinders. When the family was living in Laman s home they must act like slaves when they
want something: Laman says I m a good boy and the bike is mine anytime I want it as long as
the chamber pot is empty and I m there to run to the shop for his cigarettes, go to the library for
whatever else he wants. He says, you have a great way with a chamber pot. He laughs and Mama
stares into the dead ashes of the fireplace (253). This passage describes what McCourt family is

The Oklahoma City Thunder Went Into Oracle Arena
On Monday night, the upstart Oklahoma City Thunder went into Oracle Arena and knocked off
the Golden State Warriors 108 102 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The Thunder
were able to win on Monday night, thanks to a 19 point third quarter performance from point
guard Russell Westbrook. Westbrook s play in the third quarter was the key to Oklahoma City s
comeback as they were down 13 points at the half. The first half was not good for the Thunder or
Westbrook as he struggled with his jump shot. As a team, the Thunder shot 45.5 percent from
the field but shot 50.0 percent from three point range, which kept them in striking distance. But
what killed Oklahoma City in the first two quarters was turnovers as they had 10. Those 1o
turnovers, lead to 15 points for the Warriors. As I mentioned earlier, Westbrook struggled on
offense as he was getting outplayed by his counterpart, two time MVP Stephen Curry. In the first
half, Curry had 14 points on 5 of 11 shooting from the field, to go along with six rebounds, six
assists, and three steals. Westbrook was getting beat at his own game, which is stuffing the stat
sheet and making an impact in every facet of the game. In the first half, Westbrook only scored
three points, as he shot a horrendous 1 of 8 from the field. With Westbrook not making an impact in
the scoring department, he made sure to get his teammates involved early and often as he dished
out eight assists in the first half. Thankfully, on the other end of his

An Analysis Of Frankenstein And The Modern Prometheus By...
An analysis of Frankenstein; or, the modern Prometheus by Mary Shelly
The title of the book, Frankenstein; or, the modern Prometheus is a reference to the story about
Prometheus in Greek mythology. Prometheus was a titan who sided with the other titans to join the
Greek gods in their war against the titans. Since I have not read that story, I do not know much else
about what happened but I assume that ShellyВґs novel will be somewhat similar in the sense that
someone will side with his friends and join the enemy. The title itself is fairly long. That is
probably the reason that it is more known as just Frankenstein. The whole title is certainly
interesting. The book is so famous that everyone knows about it and I would probably have read it
eventually anyway just because of that. But the extended title made it even more interesting. Greek
mythology is usually pretty interesting and that title implies that Mary Shelly wrote her own
version of the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rousseau s Views On Private Property
Henri Aleksi VanhanenMidterm Exam 11.6.2015 PART A 1. The quote was made by Jean
Jacques Rousseau (1712 1778) in his creation On Social Contract (1762) (Rousseau, Social
Contract, 4). Rousseau s discourse on private property can be understood as a response to John
Locke s theories regarding property and especially to Locke s labor theory and the government s
role in it (assumption based on the similarity of their discourse). According to Locke s labor
theory, a man s labor defines his right to own something (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 16)
and that one of the government s top priorities is to guarantee inheritance of private property for
those who have and own something (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 37). The theory also
contains the aspect that one can own something if he improves it (Locke, Second Treatise
Government, 15). In the concept of the society and government s duties Locke and Rousseau have
different ideas. Locke states that the most important social contract is made between the people
and that the government should not impose its grip upon things that the people are capable of
solving together themselves (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 4). For Rousseau the state of
nature is not a constant state of war (Rousseau, Social Contract, 4). This explains why Rousseau
says that war cannot arise from personal relations. Rousseau s basic idea behind the quote is to
state that the civilization s creation and idea of private property and division of

Animal Cruelty And Cruelty Should Not Be Considered...
For many years, animals have been getting abuse all over the world. Animals are not getting the
right treatment that they deserve. All over the world there are law enforcements for this crime.
Animal Cruelty and Neglect is an issue that not everyone looks at or pays attention to. Those who
are neglecting these species should receive a form of punishment due to them thinking that it s just
a senseless act. Connections of human violenceand animal cruelty are under looked within family
lifestyles. Unintentional, intentional, and cruel intention all maybe the forms of prior human abuse
that can disrupt the future decisions. Under the law, animals are considered property (like a piece
of furniture or a car). What needs to be changed is how... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Intentional people also took part in the crime of animal cruelty. Unintentional people take part
in the animal abuse without knowing. Most people have the intentions to be good pet owners
without knowing the right facts. For them to actually do these crimes they have either been
sucked into peer pressure or frustrated and someone or something. Most people have friends
who verbally force them to torture an animal just because they may not be as cool enough to fit
in. Also when people are frustrated they don t know what or who to take it out which cause the
animals to suffer. All they need to know is that they don t have to listen to someone to fit in.
They just need to be themselves and don t worry about what people say. When it comes to the
cruel intentional abusing, it happens with no regret. People do it because they like violence and
pain. I think people who does things like this does not know what to do with their life. Mental
diseases are the cause for this cruel act most of the time. They don t realize they need serious help.
If the people would just go see a psychologist that will give them the support they need they might
be able to change their bad actions.
In Animal Cruelty: Pathway to Violence Against People , Linda Merz Perez and Kathleen M. Heide
provide insight into the horrors of violence against animals by building on previous research that
examined the link between animal cruelty and human interpersonal violence. The study begins with

Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA)
As many Canadians plan for their financial future, it s important they don t lose sight of an
important alternative investment, a tax free savings account. A tax free savings account, or TFSA

in popularity since it was introduced in 2009. According to the Canada Revenue Agency, since

Oppression Of Women In The Knights s Tale By Chaucer
What is a woman s role in society? Today this question would cause uproar of answers from both
feminists and anti feminists. Despite the disagreement, the most popular response would be,
without a doubt, that women s role in society is equal to men s. Currently, women can vote, hold
a stable job, and lead a successful life without a husband. However, back in medieval times there
were no such luxuries for women. Examples of their treatment can be found in Chaucer s story,
The Knights Tale. From being forced into marriage, to oppression by men, it is clear to see that
women were treated as objects. In the beginning of the story, the Duke of Theseus takes Queen
Hippolyta, his future wife, and her younger sister Emily after the Duke is victorious over the
Amazon. The two women are simply spoils of war for the Duke and the Amazon people.
Meanwhile, the Duke of Theseus represents his traditional gender roles as he is a strong... Show

Chaucer shows that women cannot always be won as objects of war. Although the winner of the
war is supposed to win over Emily, Arcite doesn t actually win Emily. Instead, the one that truly
loves Emily wins her. This could be a possible message that love conquers strength and women
ultimately conquer men. Despite some non traditional gender roles, Chaucer still portrays the
women as emotional and weak. They cry over their husbands and cry the most at death. In addition,
men are the stronger ones as they are knights and the ones that are engaged in death and brutality.
Chaucer presents most of the human characters within the rigid gender roles of the time. When he
presents the female that has a non traditional gender role, Venus, she is non human. Perhaps,
Chaucer suggests that human gender roles are hard to break while non human gender roles are
easier to break. With that said, the objectification of women in medieval times is certainly one
deserving of

The Fourth Act of The Duchess Essay example
The Fourth Act of The Duchess The first necessity of baroque is that the audience should be
gripped, excited, moved [1] so says Ralph Berry. The fourth act of The Duchess of Malfi certainly
succeeds under all these criteria, being the dramatic crux of the play. The events that occur in the
first scene are undoubtedly crucial, but it is the characters vastly varied reactions to them that are
vitally important. Rich imagery is deeply interwoven with the fabric of play indeed, it is an
essential part of its function and the scene s proceedings are completely overshadowed by the
telling relationship between Ferdinand, Bosola and the Duchess that is explored throughout act IV,
scene i. Often, it is in the most trying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning, Bosola sums up the Duchess conduct in response to her brother s callous
deeds in one word; nobly (l. 2). This is his first sincerely genial and positive description of
someone else in the entire play. By adding to his sentiments with generous wordage such as
majesty (l. 6), loveliness (l. 7) and perfect (l. 8), Bosola demonstrates how much he has changed.
No longer is his sole purpose the furthering of his own position by any means, with a complete
disregard of the consequences toward others, but now, an awakening of conscience and ethics has
happened, and Bosola is capable of telling the truth and not using every opportunity for
manipulation. This is a seemingly effortless personality shift, yet one is left to wonder as to the
extent of the unseen torment and wrestling as Bosola s compassion starts to shine through. Still
ambivalence and ambiguity remain and, when the false corpses of the Duchess family are
revealed, it is possible to speculate as to whether there is any degree of divided loyalty. Bosola
may be torn between his commitment to himself in his contract to Ferdinand and the altruistic
approach of telling the Duchess, who has helped him learn to feel empathy, the truth. This time, he
defies his emotions to do what he has been ordered, and allows his common sense to lead to familiar

Ralph had gotten home and put the shoes on. They were a size to large and without question the

  • 2. 8th November Analysis During the course of this analytical essay it can be shown that the two pieces, 8th November and (We ll Be Singing Hallelujah) Marching through Berlin, express emotions and replicate the soldiers memories of during and after the wars through the use of musical elements. It can be established that the first song, 8th November reflects the Vietnam War, through the use of Dynamics, Pitch and Timbre. Similarly, the second piece evaluated and analysed, (We ll Be Singing Hallelujah) Marching through Berlin also utilises the musical elements of Dynamics, Pitch and Timbre to reflect emotions and memories of past and present soldiers. The wars that these songs are about, the Vietnam War (occurring between the years 1955 and 1975, involving many countries... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are 5 different chords used in 8th November, being, A, G, D, D/F# and F3. These chords change through the verse to the chorus and back again and also alter slightly in the intro (same and the break down chorus). This specific chord progression can be easily learnt so soldiers and other performers may be able to learn and play in front of an audience. There is both a melody and a harmony between the two vocalists, Big Kenny and John Rich, and the instruments, which is easy to recognise and remember. The melody of 8th November is mostly in steps4, also adding to why it is considered a conjunct song, but also involves a few leaps5 making small sections of the piece disjunct. The guitar riff is repeated throughout the song making it Ostinato, or the same note pattern. The melodic elements of this song make it have a minor tonality or a sadder tone to it. The contour6 of this piece is undulating as it is smooth as it progresses. There is also a harmony in 8th November which is between the two vocals of Big Kenny and John Rich. The consonant sounds between the vocalists are mainly heard in the chorus, although there are a few harmonies during the verses. There are no dissonant (unstable notes or notes that cause a lot of tension, demanding to move onto a consonant sound) sounds or diagonance. This piece uses both major and minor chords and scales. The harmonic character is calm ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Democratic Or Republican Essay Banjade 7 Pratiksha Banjade Professor Sherry Sharifian GOVT 2306 71003 2nd October,2017. Democratic or Republican? I have been in Texas from ten months for pursuing my further education. The place where I am currently dwelling i.e. 3225 West Walnut Hill Lane, Irving, Texas is numbered as district 16. 1 As per the research, I found that Don Huffines represents district 16 in the Texassenate. It is full of diverse population providing several opportunities to its citizens. 2 Around 846,307 people are living in district 16 in which 7.2% of the total population are below five years old, 17.1% belong to the age group from 5 to 17, 65.8% of the total population includes people of age from 18 to 64 and 9.8% are the age group above 65 years old. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As per the results of two surveys, I was categorized as a liberal person. I count myself as the supporter of Democratic party in USA. However, Don Huffines who is the representative of Texas senate from district 16 is from Republican party who tries to expand his conservative philosophy. One of the issues I stand against is for the right to keep and bear arms. The Republican party supports the right to keep guns but the Democratic party is against it and so am I. In this issue, my ideas diverge with the Republican party since it opposes the laws which limit the open use of guns. Even Don Huffines states that every Texans should have legal rights to possess their fire arms. Republican party are against the tax regulations of guns and argue to make a strong law for carrying guns as they believe that it s God given right. However, I am against this action of Don Huffines as it can be more severe in some contexts. Recently, even in my college Northlake college of Irving, a girl was murdered by a guy who had gun which happened when I was there. What is the guarantee that such acts will not be repeated in future? Carrying guns can be easy processes to threaten anyone showing its power and as an international student, it sometimes scares me. Obviously, by carrying guns and other arms, one can have personal protection but it s not a wiser decision to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Charlie Chaplin s Contributions to the Film Industry Charlie Chaplin Every day millions of Americans go to theaters with their families to enjoy movies. Watching films has become one of the most popular activities to do. Although plenty of people know of Charlie Chaplin, most do not know any real information about him. Charlie Chaplin has been a major contributor to America s advancement in the film industry from his innovative beginnings, and perseverance to improve and succeed, to his overall achievements in history. Charlie Chaplin was born in South London on April 16, 1889. He was the first child of Hannah and Charles Chaplin. Charles was vaudeville actor. Hannah was a vaudeville singer. Charlie s father was a drunk and he later left his family when he was three years old when he found out his wife had an affair with another actor, Leo Dryden. They soon had a child named George, who left to live with his father. Since Hannah was now a single mother, she was struggling to find a way to provide for her children. She had another son that was older than Charlie, from a previous relationship (Schwartz). Hannah s singing alone was not enough to earn her the money to care for two boys. She took up sweatshop work on a sewing machine she rented to earn extra income. Due to the small amount of income they had, Charlie s family moved in and out of orphanages and boys homes on a regular basis. Hannah s career as a singer ended abruptly in 1894. She lost her voice during a performance. While the crowd was getting rowdy and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Roman Architecture Essay When one thinks of Roman architecture, many things come to mind, such as arches, columns, statues, and richly covered surfaces in marbles. One must stop to think that this empire, which gained power and influence in the first century BC, must have been influenced from the thousands of years of cultures preceding them in order to create their masterpieces of ingenuity. This phenomenon can be seen in our borrowing of ideas of ancient Greece and Romefor the construction of our capitol buildings in the United States. The Romans surely considered design principles of other cultures when developing their buildings, since daily conquests of new lands opened Roman soldiers eyes to innovations from the great vastness of their empire. Doing so, he managed to design the most captivating section of his estate, the Great Canopus and Serapeum, which have roots in ancient architecture, while also displaying Hadrian s own capability to produce innovative designs through many different elements of their construction. Ancient Egypt, which lasted as a powerful empire from 3150 to 30 BC, left a huge legacy on the world of construction and architecture. Although their architecture revolved around veneration of the dead, it served as inspiration to many Greek buildings and as a key source for Hadrian s Canopus design. Through his travels to Alexandria, Egypt, Hadrian was inspired for the overall design of the estate by attempting to recreate an Alexandrian garden with sacred landscapes, as seen through the Villa s structures conforming to the terrain. Unfortunately, in the 16th century AD, these example of an Alexandrian garden, created through the use of statuary and fountains were removed from Hadrian s villa and re used in order to create a Renaissance garden based upon Roman ideals of gardening. The large lake in the center of the Canopus is representative of a branch of the Nile River that connects Alexandria to the Egyptian city of Canopus on the Nile Delta, for which this section of his villa was named after. • 6. Madness In H. P. Lovecraft s Temple H.P. Lovecraft s Temple tells the story of how a German crew on a badly damaged ship during World War Two slowly descends into madness. A combination of odd sightings, fear, illness, and eventually violence and suicide leave the protagonist, Karl Heinrich, all by himself on a doomed ocean voyage. By the end of the story, Heinrich senses that he is going mad. He believes to have found the lost city of Atlantis, and ultimately dies while exploring it. An episode of Star Trek: Voyager titled Bliss deals with the similar theme of a descent into madness. This sciencefiction1990 s television show takes place in the 24th century of our universe. The crew is terribly afraid of being lost in space forever. When the crew finds an unstable wormhole that appears to be a direct route back to Earth, they jump at the chance. However, the crew of the starship has one member who is not from the Alpha Quadrant, where earth and the other crew member s alien home worlds are located. This crew member, named Seven, is the only one who has no desire to ever return home, since she never had a home. Therefore, she is the only character not afraid of being lost in space forever, since she is perfectly content there. Seven analyzes the wormhole with the ship s sensors. With these sensors, she finds clear evidence that the wormhole is not a wormhole at all, but rather some sort of elaborate alien deception, trying to lure the crew into their grasp. Despite her clear evidence that the wormhole is an alien trap, the crew is so afraid of being stuck in space forever that they enter the wormhole anyway. Their fear of being lost forever in space overcame all of the rational though that Seven presented them with. Their fear drove them to do the unthinkable. • 7. The Tragic Hero Of Euripides Medea Nafisa Asad Honors English II Melie Period 5 Tragic Hero in Euripides Medea Aristotle cites that, A man cannot become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall. Consistent to Aristotle s characteristics of a tragic hero, the tragic hero must fit the requirements of being noble and employed in a high standing position of society. There should be a tragic flaw that ultimately leads to his downfall, and those reading the play must feel pity for this character as he goes through necessary changes as a result of his flaw. Aristotle illustrates a tragic heroas one who falls from grace into a state of acute misery. In Euripides Medea, the tragic hero is Jason, a man of noble birth who falls from being honored and respected due to a flaw in his character, that flaw being adultery. His adultery leads to terrible outcomes, the deaths of many people, and his loss of all the things he loved. His character is an excellent example of the heroes who rise high, then ultimately fail due to their own nature. By the end of the play he realizes his errors and becomes negligible. Some may argue that Medea is the tragic hero in the play, but this reasoning is flawed because Medea has no single flaw, she has exuded a sadistic nature from the start, from her actions involving the Golden Fleece to her killing her own offspring. Jason suffers from the fatal flaw of adultery that ultimately destines him for ruin, making it is clear that he serves as the tragic hero in Euripides ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hershey Chocolate Company originated in 1894, by Milton Hershey (Hershey Company, 2015). He was the first American who began producing milk chocolate bars, and eventually created multiple flavors that changed the chocolate industry forever. With such mass production and success, Hershey was able to make milk chocolate, a once luxury item for the wealthy, into an affordable treat for all (Hershey Company, 2015). The milk adds the sweet taste and smooth texture while the chocolate liquor adds the chocolate flavor. The chocolate paste is refined in the conching machine where it brings out more of the rich chocolate flavor. The final step to Hershey s chocolate making process is sending the chocolate to the drying rack where it will be cooled, wrapped and distributed all around the world for consumption. For the S mores taste test, four different types of Hershey chocolate were used to conduct the experiment. • 9. The Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs.... The Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson reveals that the ghastly depiction of the Indian religion (or what Rowlandson perceives as a lack of religion) in the narrative is directly related to the ideologies of her Puritan upbringing. Furthermore, Rowlandson s experiences in captivity and encounter with the new, or Other religionof the Indians cause her rethink, and question her past; her experiences do not however cause her to redirect her life or change her ideals in any way. The function of religion plays a significant role in the narrative, especially the dissimilarities between the narrator s religious beliefs and the Other religion of her captors. It is clear that Mary Rowlandson s encounter with the Other causes her to doubt her past, specifically her devotion to God. At the end of the narrative Rowlandson confirms this claim with the remark: When I lived in prosperity; having the comforts of this World about me, my Relations by me, and my heart cheerful: and taking little care for any thing; and yet seeing many (whom I preferred before myself) under many trials and afflictions, in sickness, weakness, poverty, losses, crosses, and cares of the Worlds, I should be sometimes jealous least I should have my portion in this lifeВ…but now I see the Lord had his time to scourge and chasten me (50). The evidence from the narrative in many ways could characterize this work as a text in which the narrator (Mary Rowlandson) realizes her mistakes in the past and redirects her life accordingly. This is not true in the case of Rowlandson, to be more specific her experiences and interaction with the Indians do not challenge her Puritan ideologies, but rather confirms and strengthens them. When the narrator returns to her former lifestyle she in no way demonstrates any new knowledge from her experience, but rather returns home with the same degree of ignorance that she had before her captivity. • 10. Negative Side Of Sweatshops Colin Buckley Thibodeau English 12 May 15th,2017 Although sweatshops get a bad name for their conditions, it has been shown and documented that sweatshops actually benefit people by occupying them with jobs they wouldn t get anywhere else, as well as help boost the economy. Sweatshops have been known to boost economies in areas where poverty is an issue. They offer jobs and shelter from the streets. When someone hears the word sweatshop they think of child labor, Most people are too focused on the negative side of sweatshops that they can t see the side that benefits and aids the people of its surroundings. In the grand scheme of things, The good of sweatshops outweighs the bad. Even though the positive side of sweatshops outweighs the negative side, their is still an opposing opinion that many people stand by. They stand on the side regarding sweatshops, the working conditions they provide and that they should be outlawed. In the article titled Crammed into squalid factories to produce clothes for the West on just 20p a day, the children forced to work in horrific unregulated workshops of Bangladesh , Photographer Claudio Montesano Casillas, documents the horrible yet intriguing conditions of a Garment Sweatshop in Bangladesh. She states that they produce clothes on just 20P a day, and are forced to work in horribly unsafe conditions. From this article, you can tell that Casillas is not for sweatshops. • 12. Punk In Der Ddr Analysis This display of the potential of fashion as expression directly correlates with the relationship that the punk scene of the GDR would develop with clothing. While likely the fictional character of Sunny would not have so intentionally, by dressing in her modern, occasionally androgynous outfits she was using style as a way of isolating herself from her setting. In the novel Punk In Der Ddr: Too Much Future it is explained that the punks were no longer GDR citizens, they behaved as if they were in London and had fled the country though still being present within it. The difference can be as small as a change of a shape of the eyeliner or it can be a complete change of people s looks. What was considered beautiful in Renaissance was absolutely outdated 100 years after this era. In this essay I will be talking about the hair and make up in Renaissance. It all started in Italy, home of the greatest artists of the time. The first section of my essay will be about Italy and the way people were changing their natural appearances using various products. In the second section I will move to the north of Europe to explore a bit more about this topic and see how much the fashion that was set in Italy has changed. In the third section I will look at what was going on in the Great Britain and compare the Elizabethan hair and make up to the continental style. Italy has always been a cultural capital, at least in the eyes of people who have taught me history and art. Majestic buildings, amazing paintings, impressive statues that is just a fraction of what was created in Italy. Renaissance is a unique era, after the Gothic art strictly controlled by the Christian Church; people are turning their eyes away from the God and the God alone to themselves as well. First, I will sincerely strive to adhere to the ethical guidelines associated with my professional career. Ethical guidelines may seem easy to follow initially, but my experiences while interning have shown me that it could become difficult to follow these guidelines in situations where morals contradict with the ethical guidelines of the organization. For example, there have been times at Rogers County Youth Services where the youth have tried to give me a hug when I leave. From a moral standpoint and my Christian faith, I strive to be a caring, loving person in all my social interactions. I try to display this when deemed appropriate to be an encouraging presence in a dark place. Therefore, it may seem odd for one such as myself to deny a hug from a youth that has been ripped from their family due to neglect and/or abuse. However, Rogers County Youth Services made me sign an ethical contract that specifically stated that I was restricted from hugging any of the residents in the shelter no matter what. Although my moral compass may lead me to disregard this statement in certain extreme scenarios, I have an obligation to conduct myself in an ethical, professional manner while interning. I believe this is an excellent rule at the shelter because it protects the individual and the organization from a wide variety of repercussions that could result from hugging a resident. In order to be able to answer on those questions it will be necessary firstly to explain basic theoretical points about Manoeuvrist Approach, Mission command and OODA loop cycle. Throughout history, military theorists and commanders have attempted to determine and define the most effective way to defeat an adversary and achieve victory. British military doctrine defines this method as the Manoeuvrist Approach or indirect approach, which main focus is basically on attacking enemy s cohesion and will to fight rather than focusing purely on the destruction of his physical component. However, in order to be faster than enemy some preconditions have to be achieved. Firstly, according to Boyd, only decentralized military with application of mission command can have a fast OODA loop. Secondly, through decentralization, to operate successfully in fog of war we need to accept confusion and disorder, and also to generate them. Thirdly, while operating in confusion and disorder we need to avoid all patterns, recipes and formulas, because if our tactics follow predictable patterns, the enemy can predict our actions and easily cut inside our OODA Loop. • 27. An Examination Of Post Event Information ( Pei ) Another form of Post event information (PEI) is conformity, in the event that an individual witnesses a crime committed there is always the potential that there are co witnesses that also witnessed the crime, while an increase in witnesses may hold some positives there is the potential for conformity. Conformity takes place when one witnesses memories of a past event become more like another person s described memories of the same event (Kieckhaefer, J.M. Wright, D.B., 2015, pg. 462). Co witnesses often alter their memoryreports to coincide with other witnesses reports (Goodwin K.A. et al., 2013, pg. 91). If a co witnessis a friend or family then an individual is even more likely to conform to their views than they would be if the co witness was a stranger. Kieckhaefer and Wright also found evidence that another factor that increases a witnesses memory conformity is if the co witness is likable(Kieckhaefer, J.M. Wright, D.B., 2015, pg. 463). There have been multiple studies conducted where researchers use confederates, research helpers used to feed unknowing participants information, to determine whether or not participants will conform to the confederate s reports (Goodwin, K.A. et al., 2013, pg. 91). Furthermore, witnesses are more likely to alter their views when they are motivated to avoid deviating from the group. Far from ordinary, within the scope of God s purpose was the selection of a man who would be chiefly responsible for carrying out the postresurrection commission of Jesus to the Twelve by proclaiming the fulfilment of the promise of Abraham (McRay, 2003). This man was Paul of Tarsus (Gal. 1:15 16), who s story is one of redemption in Christ coupled with a testimony that no one is beyond the saving grace of the Lord JesusChrist. Paul s early life Paul, who was actually named Saul was born and spent his earliest years in the Diaspora, the dispersion of the Jews outside the borders of the Holy Land (McRay, 2003). Not much is known as to how Paul s family became Roman citizens, but Paul himself was identified as a born citizen (Acts 22:27 28). However, his lineage can be traced to the Hebrew tribe of Benjamin. In addition to being associated with the tribe of Benjamin, the family had a history of religious devoutness. • 29. Comparing The Alien And Forgotten Planet By Doug Delanty From the moment they are born, children are wondering about their world. Parents often enjoy watching their children grow up and reflect upon what they discovered and what they have yet to discover. In The Alien , Greg Delanty is describing expecting parents questions while awaiting a child. Similarly, in Forgotten Planet , Doug Dorph describes children s imaginationand compares it to adulthood. The parents in these poems are able to rely upon space or visualize it as to having an important role in the life of a child. Both The Alien by Greg Delanty and Forgotten Planet by Doug Dorph use a motif of space as parents search to understand children; however, the parent figures in the poems view space in different ways. In The Alien , Delanty explains the anxious feeling that parents have before having a baby and uses the motif of space to try to explain how parents try to answer some of the questions they have. As the experience of having a child is new to these parents, they use a metaphor to compare their child to an alien and a martian (Delanty 9, 11). This demonstrates that they are anxious because they neither know how the child will behave nor how to cooperate with the new child. They also have other questions about their coming child, expressed when Delanty writes, we re anxious/ to make contact, to ask divers questions/ about the heavendom you hail from, to discuss/ the whole shebang of the beginning end,/ the pre big bang untime before you forget the why ... Leontes s servant Camillo appears to be loyal at the beginning of the play but quickly switches his loyalty to King Polixenes when the King discovers his drink was poisoned. Hermione s servent Paulina is loyal the entire play because she is constantly arguing for Hermione s innocence and fighting against Leontes s assumptions. As the maleservant, Camillo has an easier role because he represents someone who will serve whoever he believes will allow him to live which is why he becomes Polixenes s servant. As the female servant, Paulina takes on a more challenging role and remains loyal to Hermione the entire play even if there are consequences from Leontes. Solely based on the play, it is more difficult to be a female servant because Paulina had to be loyal to her superior while Camillo took the easy route and switched his allegiance. At first, Camillo is loyal to Leontes and even agrees to poison Polixenes because Leontes believes Hermione slept with Polixenes. Camillo says Sir, my lord, I could do this, and that with no rash potion, but with a lingering dram that should not work maliciously like poison, (I. 2. 318 321). Jim Jones was a pastor at Peoples Temple, he was the leader of an interracial church. For its time, Jim Jones was pushing past race and ethnicity and introducing a new church that welcomed all people. Jones was the type of man that made people feel comfortable and at home; maybe that is why so many people followed him when he moved his temple across the county and then to Guyana. That is what happened with Jason James and I. Jason was once my best friend, practically a brother, we did everything together. I was always there for him, in the times when he needed someone the most. Jason James suffered from depression, like me. Because I knew exactly what he was going through, we became close. But there was always something off about our friendship. It was always about him. One day I got a text from Jason saying he needed to get out of the house and just talk. I, of course, sprang to action. I picked him up and we got ice cream and talked. I let him talk through what was going on, and gave him the advice he needed. Then a couple days later I was having a rough day, and I just wanted someone to talk to, I texted Jason hoping he could help. He said he would come over, and be with me. But when he got there all he did was talk about him. Everything I would say he would turn it around and make it about him. Although this did not happen all the time, it did most often. Jason James was a negative influence on my life because our friendship was only about him, he blamed me for every problem he faced, and he never truly cared. In spite of experiencing several tragedies throughout his life, Poe had a successful career by writing short anecdotes. Most of Edgar Allan Poe s stories have been known for having recurring literary devices such as motifs. The motifs of the eye and heart are found in the story The Tell Tale Heart and The Pit and the Pendulum. However, in the Tell Tale Heart and the Raven, the motif that is commonly used is the unnamed narrator. The reason for Poe using these motifs remains unknown at first glance but, once analyzing these motifs, one can identify their purpose. To begin, the eye motif is used in The Tell Tale Heart. The old man in the story, has cataract on his left ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The plot of the story revolves around the motif of the eye and it also gives justification for the narrator to kill the old man. Similarly, in The Pit and the Pendulum, the eye motif is utilized as the driving force of the plot and affects the reader. The narrator of the story is captured by an inquisitorial group and is tortured. In the story, I (the narrator) had scarcely stepped away from the bed of horror when the hellish machine stopped. I saw it being pulled up through the ceiling by some invisible force (Poe 145). Once the narrator narrowly escapes from the brutal slaying, immediately, the pendulum stops moving. Starting and stopping the pendulum was done by inquisitors who serve as eyes for the cult leader. Again, the plot action of this story is dependent on the eye motif. When the narrator escapes from the binding, new problems arise for the narrator because the people who were watching him (the eyes) immediately executed their next backup plan. According to the text, after the pendulum stopped, I (The narrator) shrank from the glowing metal to the center of the cell. I thought of the fiery destruction that was near (Poe 156). The narrator needs to escape from the constant back up methods of torture implemented by the tormentors. Back to back tortures caused by the inquisitors drive the story forward. In addition, this constant escape also affects the reader as well. The eye (inquisitors) is the reason for deploying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Westbrook s play in the third quarter was the key to Oklahoma City s comeback as they were down 13 points at the half. The first half was not good for the Thunder or Westbrook as he struggled with his jump shot. As a team, the Thunder shot 45.5 percent from the field but shot 50.0 percent from three point range, which kept them in striking distance. But what killed Oklahoma City in the first two quarters was turnovers as they had 10. Those 1o turnovers, lead to 15 points for the Warriors. An analysis of Frankenstein; or, the modern Prometheus by Mary Shelly The title of the book, Frankenstein; or, the modern Prometheus is a reference to the story about Prometheus in Greek mythology. Prometheus was a titan who sided with the other titans to join the Greek gods in their war against the titans. Since I have not read that story, I do not know much else about what happened but I assume that ShellyВґs novel will be somewhat similar in the sense that someone will side with his friends and join the enemy. The title itself is fairly long. That is probably the reason that it is more known as just Frankenstein. The whole title is certainly interesting. The book is so famous that everyone knows about it and I would probably have read it eventually anyway just because of that. But the extended title made it even more interesting. • 47. Rousseau s Views On Private Property Henri Aleksi VanhanenMidterm Exam 11.6.2015 PART A 1. The quote was made by Jean Jacques Rousseau (1712 1778) in his creation On Social Contract (1762) (Rousseau, Social Contract, 4). Rousseau s discourse on private property can be understood as a response to John Locke s theories regarding property and especially to Locke s labor theory and the government s role in it (assumption based on the similarity of their discourse). According to Locke s labor theory, a man s labor defines his right to own something (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 16) and that one of the government s top priorities is to guarantee inheritance of private property for those who have and own something (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 37). The theory also contains the aspect that one can own something if he improves it (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 15). In the concept of the society and government s duties Locke and Rousseau have different ideas. Locke states that the most important social contract is made between the people and that the government should not impose its grip upon things that the people are capable of solving together themselves (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 4). For Rousseau the state of nature is not a constant state of war (Rousseau, Social Contract, 4). This explains why Rousseau says that war cannot arise from personal relations. Most people have friends who verbally force them to torture an animal just because they may not be as cool enough to fit in. • 50. Oppression Of Women In The Knights s Tale By Chaucer What is a woman s role in society? Today this question would cause uproar of answers from both feminists and anti feminists. Despite the disagreement, the most popular response would be, without a doubt, that women s role in society is equal to men s. Currently, women can vote, hold a stable job, and lead a successful life without a husband. However, back in medieval times there were no such luxuries for women. Examples of their treatment can be found in Chaucer s story, The Knights Tale. From being forced into marriage, to oppression by men, it is clear to see that women were treated as objects. In the beginning of the story, the Duke of Theseus takes Queen Hippolyta, his future wife, and her younger sister Emily after the Duke is victorious over the Amazon. The two women are simply spoils of war for the Duke and the Amazon people. Meanwhile, the Duke of Theseus represents his traditional gender roles as he is a strong... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chaucer shows that women cannot always be won as objects of war. Although the winner of the war is supposed to win over Emily, Arcite doesn t actually win Emily. Instead, the one that truly loves Emily wins her. This could be a possible message that love conquers strength and women ultimately conquer men. Despite some non traditional gender roles, Chaucer still portrays the women as emotional and weak. They cry over their husbands and cry the most at death. In addition, men are the stronger ones as they are knights and the ones that are engaged in death and brutality. Chaucer presents most of the human characters within the rigid gender roles of the time. When he presents the female that has a non traditional gender role, Venus, she is non human. Perhaps, Chaucer suggests that human gender roles are hard to break while non human gender roles are easier to break. • 52. The Fourth Act of The Duchess Essay example The Fourth Act of The Duchess The first necessity of baroque is that the audience should be gripped, excited, moved [1] so says Ralph Berry. The fourth act of The Duchess of Malfi certainly succeeds under all these criteria, being the dramatic crux of the play. The events that occur in the first scene are undoubtedly crucial, but it is the characters vastly varied reactions to them that are vitally important. Rich imagery is deeply interwoven with the fabric of play indeed, it is an essential part of its function and the scene s proceedings are completely overshadowed by the telling relationship between Ferdinand, Bosola and the Duchess that is explored throughout act IV, scene i. Often, it is in the most trying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the beginning, Bosola sums up the Duchess conduct in response to her brother s callous deeds in one word; nobly (l. 2). This is his first sincerely genial and positive description of someone else in the entire play. By adding to his sentiments with generous wordage such as majesty (l. 6), loveliness (l. 7) and perfect (l. 8), Bosola demonstrates how much he has changed. No longer is his sole purpose the furthering of his own position by any means, with a complete disregard of the consequences toward others, but now, an awakening of conscience and ethics has happened, and Bosola is capable of telling the truth and not using every opportunity for manipulation. This is a seemingly effortless personality shift, yet one is left to wonder as to the extent of the unseen torment and wrestling as Bosola s compassion starts to shine through. Still ambivalence and ambiguity remain and, when the false corpses of the Duchess family are revealed, it is possible to speculate as to whether there is any degree of divided loyalty. Bosola may be torn between his commitment to himself in his contract to Ferdinand and the altruistic approach of telling the Duchess, who has helped him learn to feel empathy, the truth. This time, he defies his emotions to do what he has been ordered, and allows his common sense to lead to familiar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Prohibition Of The Former Flint Brewery Building Ralph sits in the Pere Marquette rail depot in Flint, fidgeting with the lose button on his overcoat, and looking down at his shabby brown shoes. The morning sun is low and catches dust in its light as it shines through the windows. His eyes dart to the door every time it opens. He is expecting a cop to walk in at any moment. He is getting desperate and would look suspicious if it wasn t for his overall gentle appearance. He gets up and checks the time tables for the fourth time and debates if he should inquire why the train is late. He walks to the window and watches the congregation gathering outside the Lakeview Methodist Episcopal Church, which ironically is housed in the former Flint Brewery building and has been since 1915, when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Walking that morning, something in Smith Bridgman s Co store window caught his eye, in the display where a pair of red alligator skin shoes. These shoes intoxicated him and without a second thought Ralph went in to buy them. The salesman said that they were one of a kind, sure to be the only pair in Flint. Ralph paid cash for the shoes and as store policy directed, a sales recite including Ralphs name and address was retained in the men s departments as a record of sale. Ralph had gotten home and put the shoes on. They were a size to large and without question the nicest thing he had ever owned. Ralph needed to deliverer some gin to a house around noon and was excited to wear the new shoes out. Though he had never done a delivery before, he had sold to this guy plenty of times at Atwood. He packaged up the gin and headed out just before noon to travel the few blocks to the customer s house wearing the new red shoes. About a block from the house Ralph saw the two foot patrol cops step out of Alvord s Market. They waited for him to pass then flowed behind him. Ralph was worried but talked himself down. He had packaged the gin to look like bread and the house was just around the corner, besides he didn t recognize them and they likely didn t recognize him. He got to the house and went through the gate and around to the side door and knocked; no answer. He knocked again and stepped back to make sure the cops had passed. They were standing just ...
