Essay On Zara
Zara | Background information
Zara is one of the largest international fashion companies and has over 2000 stores located across
88 countries. It is part of the large distribution group Inditex, which also owns brands such as Pull
Bear, Stradivarius and Bershka.
Zara s first store was opened in 1975 by Amancio Ortega in Spain. It featured low priced fashion
items that looked similar to the products of the more popular brands. As the store proved to be a
success, Ortega opened more Zara stores within Spain.
During the 1980 s, Zara started its international expansion as a result of a change in its production
of clothing, which allowed the company to react to trends much faster, creating instant fashions .
Zara is unique in its marketing model as Zara has a policy of zero advertisement. Plus, its
concept of fast fashion enables Zara to produce new collections every few weeks. This stimulates
customers to visit Zara approximately seventeen times during a year, opposed to the three times
other, similar companies expect their customers to visit, as Zara s products change regularly.
Customers only have a short period of time to buy a specific item. The fact that Zara produces all
its clothes itself, instead of buying clothes from other retailers, also makes ... Show more content on

Because of the exclusive and luxury image, people will want to buy a product just because it is a
Chanel. As Karl Lagerfeld said: when you buy Chanel, you buy an idea. For example, the products
at the supermarket created for the Fall/Winter PrГЄt Г Porter 2014/2015 Fashion Show all had the
logo or the name of Chanel on it: Lait de Coco . After the show ended, the audience was allowed to
walk through the supermarket. They grabbed what they could, all wanting something from Chanel.
Unfortunately for them, they were not allowed to take the products with them. This shows how
Chanel itself creates publicity and thus a higher

Academy Awardss
This past Sunday we were all invited to watch the 88th Academy Awards from behind our
television screens. Otherwise known as The Oscars, this award ceremony is presented by the
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with the purpose of commemorating those who
have displayed exceptional acting skills this past year in the film industry. However, this year, the
Academy Awards have been synonymous with the hashtag Oscars So White, which ultimately,
sheds light on the lack of minority representation in all twenty nomination categories. Outraged,
well known actors and the public demand for a more equal representation of all races to be
considered for Academy Awards. In this paper, I will be discussing how David Cox s article in

Dr. Ruiz defines interpersonal discrimination to be actions taken by individuals or small groups to
deny something to members of an out group (Lecture, Ruiz, 02/25/2016). In Cox s article, he
mentions how other minority groups such as Latinos, Asian Americans, or Hispanics have secured
nominations. (Cox, 2). Cox also states that there is this universal appeal for using white actors in
films (Cox, 2). The lack of diversity is astonishing and poorly reflects the diversity The Academy
strives for. To further illustrate this discrimination, Keegan, Poindexter, and Whipp addressed the
membership requirements for Academy voters. Their article states that changing the dominantly
white, male voting population was impossible to reach because of the academy s stringent
membership requirements and the underrepresentation of women and minorities in the
entertainment industry (Keegan, Poindexter, Whipp, 2). This same article had a quote from New
York critic Andrew Gruttadaro who said that no black peopledeserved a nomination. (Keegan,
Poindexter Whipp, 2). Gruttadaro openly excluded black actors because of their acting skills.
Because the film industry is comprised of white males, it is not a surprise to see individuals of
their same race dominating the nominations. Actors and actresses are not the only ones where this
discrimination is

Ethical Argument Against Euthanasia
Medical Ethics
Medical ethics is always seen by many as an unusual blend; one many always seem to question.
The fuse appeals to a range of different temperaments, to the philosopher, the doctor, and to the
man or woman of action. It tackles the big questions of the morality of killing and the
painstakingly difficult decisions having to be made by many on a daily basis. It also relates to
the ethical spectrum as well, when can a mentally ill person be treated against their will? Is it a
crime for any doctor to practice a form of euthanasia? Where better to start medical ethics, than with
the complex topic of euthanasia.
The main idea of euthanasia goes against the oldest and most famous moral instructions in religion,
Thou shalt not kill [Exodus 20:13]. To be technical, the practice of euthanasia is morally required
by the two main principles of medical practice: the respect for the patient s autonomy, and to
promote their best interests. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are two interpretations if point 1 . One method of interpretation is the bad company fallacy
or argumentum ad hominem, where a particular view is true or false, not because of the reasons in
favour or against the view, but by virtue of the fact that a person holds that view.
The second more widely known view is that all views by the Nazis are immoral. Some Nazis
may hold views that do not relate directly, but they would not be seen as Nazi views . The Nazi
views being referred are their horrific actions of torture and senseless killing. The problem with this
view is however that the supporters of euthanasia are not supporters of the Nazis, and so this point
can be considered invalid. The point at issue is whether euthanasia in certain circumstances is moral
or immoral. All depends on the specific circumstances at hand and the best interests of the patient at

Classic Rock History
The Greatest Rock Band of all Time The Beatles, Rolling Stones, or Led Zeppelin? The Beatles
John Lennon once said, A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together
is reality, little did he know that his own dream would in fact become reality. Classic Rock has
always been a well known music genre among multiple generations, yet everything has to start
somewhere. The 1960s was a crucial era for the development of classic rock, for some of the most
well known musicians partook in this period including The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and Led
Zeppelin. The Beatles are considered by many people as the beginning of rock, and their career
throughout this journey lasted nearly a decade. The band was formed in 1960. Their career takes

An occurrence of their rising fame was the Rolling Stones song Satisfaction. .It was different than
any other protest song previously made about that time. Instead of a few lyrics against the era, it
conveyed an eloquent message. The song, recorded in 1965, was a breaking point for their career,
the aim of it was to express a distinct dis satisfaction with the way conditions were. It was the pop

This song rationalized the rough, prejudiced days of the existing time during that era. Speaking of
which, in December of 1969, the Rolling Stones played their last concert of that decade, they were
joined with multiple other musicians to create a movement that would contribute to a new rock
era, and a new look at music as it was (Carter). They paved way and influenced many other great
musicians that would later take after their style. The Rolling Stones left an everlasting impression

The Last Supper With Jesus And The Synoptic Gospels
The Synoptic Gospels describe The Last Supper with Jesus performing many of the traditional
elements found during the Jewish Passover as detailed in Exodus. Jesus, himself, was a Jewish
man and celebrated this tradition as a part of his faith, so it makes sense that this final meal could
hold traditional aspects of a PassoverSeder. The three Synoptic Gospels seem to demonstrate
parallels between a typical Passover celebration and The Last Supper that Jesusperformed. The
Gospelof Luke even calls in a Passover meal in chapter 22 verse 15.
Joachim Jeremias , The Eucharistic Words of Jesus, comments that there are at least 14 specific
parallels between Jesus Last Supper and the Passover Seder as seen through Exodus and the
Synoptic Gospels. These 14 points include, worship, discussion of the symbolism of the meal,
and bread being consumed. The three Synoptic Gospels tell of Jesus breaking bread with the
disciples to symbolize his body which is a parallel to the unleavened bread that the Jewish
people were to eat during their Passover meal. In two of the Synoptic Gospels, the group
finishes their meal by singing a hymn before leaving the room which follows Moses command
from God to the Israelites to worship Him after all the other commands that the Lord had given
them for the Passover. During Passover, the recalling of the original event and symbolism of the
parts of the meal are to be told and the same traditions are to be followed as the Lord had
commanded to Moses and

Stereotypes In High School
High school is full of a variety of types of people, who can all be labeled into certain groups or
stereotypes. High school can be an amazing time for people, just as easily as it could be a terrible
time for people. It s quite odd how everyone goes to the same school, and mostly attend the same
courses, yet they are significantly different from one another. Every school has the classic jocks,
nerds, partiers/stoners, etc., but it appears our generation has created several new stereotypes. With
students spending approximately 35 hours a week at school, it is easy for one another to label each
other, and determine who they fit in with.
The most common stereotype in Spring Lake is the Preppy Rich Kid. The Preppy part of these
kids is that they love to wear a perfectly matching outfit; including their colorful Polo Shirts/t
shirts, colorful short shorts, matching socks, with a matching pair of boat shoes/skate shoes.
The Rich part of these kids is that they live in a big house on the water, their parents have high
paying jobs, and their parents will buy them whatever they desire. These kids typically drive an
expensive foreign car, usually blaring rap music out of their car s subwoofer everyday to school.
Once they have arrived at school, most of them have a very enjoyable day. For the most part, they
have a perfect life, including getting all the girls/boys, receiving good grades, being attractive, and
being a phenomenal athlete. These kids are likable people, and

Teen Crimes Book Report
Millions of crimes are committed every year in the United States. Many of these crimes are
committed by teenagers all around the country. They are driven to choose this lifestyle because
of different reasons. The reason could be poverty or peer pressure. Teens may join a gang for
protection or a sense of belonging. In the case of an eighteen year old boy from Akron, he has
lived below the poverty line his whole life. Albi is an only child who has lived with his mother
his whole life. Albi was the smart kid in school. He always received the highest grade on his test,
was the first to answer any question, and was the kid that everyone turned to for help in school.

Latin American Independence Movement Research Paper
I believe the Latin American Independence movements failed when compared to other revolutions
because of lack of planning, race relations, and major dependence on colonial powers. In the
American Revolution there were great men who stood back and took the time with Constitutional
Conventions to sit down and decide what everyone wanted and what would please everyone. Sure
the Articles of Confederation didn t work out, but they took the kinks and worked through it to
create the Constitution. This was not the case with Simon Bolivar and the Grand Columbia. He
knew what he wanted to happen, but didn t stick around to help see it through. Once he left to go
help others gain their independence the people, mostly creoles made power grabs. Instead of
coming together as a nation they only wanted their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people did not see themselves as one nation, but separate entities. Even the people inside the
new nations saw themselves as entirely different people. There were the indigenous, the African,
the creoles, the mulattos, and so on. Plus, independence did not bring a better way of life for
most individuals. In fact, as professor clay pointed out in class, a lot of people were very poor
and the situation became worse with independence. Some people who had money before found
themselves losing wealth instead of the other way around. In independence movements there is
this ideal that once independence happens everyone will be better off, but there is a period of
losing money. In the Latin American countries the wealth had become so great among the creoles
and the upper classes that this was a scary idea so they began to make plays for power. This is in
contrast to the American Revolution where America was in debt to France, but they were focused
on making the nation work rather than the debt they owed. Of course, this all lead to the French

Analysis Of George Orwell s Narrator In Shooting An Elephant
Fitting In: Orwell s Narrator in Shooting an Elephant
Since the publication of George Orwell s, Shooting an Elephant in 1936 many philosophers have
engaged in conversation about humanity, violence, politics, power, dominance, race, culture and
principles. Orwell was in fact a genius plain and simple, though in a very complicated way
(Firchow 94). George Orwell brings you into his essay with lucid and vivid details the entire way
starting from the setting, I remember that it was a cloudy, stuffy morning at the beginning of the
rains, (25) to the characters attitudes towards one another, if a European woman went through the
bazaars alone somebody would probably spit betel juice over her dress (23). The essay starts with
the narrator, whom we assume is Orwell, a white man working as a sub divisional police officer in
Moulmein, Burma where the British have a colonized. Being English, the narrator Orwell is hated
by many of the natives, When a nimble Burman tripped me up on the football field and the referee
(another Burman) looked the other way, the crowd yelled with hideous laughter (Orwell 23). One
morning, Orwell receives a call about an elephant ram sacking the town and even killing a native
Burman. Ultimately forcing Orwell into a dilemma of his own morality of what he ought to do and
trying not to let down the immense crowd of yellow faces (26). Orwell shoots the elephant
essentially killing him. The elephants death shows the complex range of human

The Bernie Madoff Ponzi Scheme
IntroductionThe Bernie Madoff Ponzi Scheme is a well known case and is known as one of the
biggest Ponzi scheme s. In summary the scheme occurred for many reasons that I will some up
into 3 points; A lack in competency by regulatory agencies, a lack of regulation, and finally a
breach in ethics by Bernie Madoff himself. To explain further, the regulatory agencies like the
lawyers and SEC are supposed to prevent schemes such as this one from happening but because
they lacked the skills to correctly assess the situation, interpreting the number of tips they had
received regarding scheme that had been filed, and to act on those in an efficient manner. One of
the tips was made by Harry Markopolos in 2000, of who correctly predicted that... Show more

It takes more than just being honest to instill trust, it also requires that organizations reward
honesty and punish dishonesty. This type of culture shows leadership (Galagan 28). Madoff
clearly wasn t showing leadership and his lies eventually caught up with him because he wasn t
rewarding honesty and punishing dishonest. In fact, he was doing the opposite. Truism 2
Managers should manage in a way that brings good people into the organization and makes good
people want to stay. Managers, especially immediate supervisors, largely determine whether
employees stay with or leave a company (Crews). An IT executive, Bob McMahon, noticed the
computer systems needed replaced. McMahon believed modern computer systems would help
expand business. McMahon was fired because of his ethical behavior. Once Madoff was
arrested, McMahon realized the reasoning for Madoff not wanting to replace the existing
software. McMahon realized that new systems would have easily found the missing data in the
stock trades that never took place (Dodge 27). Therefore, instead of hiring and keeping ethical
people in the company, like McMahon, Madoff fired these ethical individuals to continue his
scandal without suspicion. Madoff did not want ethical people working for him because they
would not be agreeable to his scandal. In theory Madoff s investing genius consisted of knowing
the best time to enter or leave the market. Ostensibly, every so often Madoff s team was

Teachings of Catholics About Abortion Essay
Teachings of Catholics About Abortion
Catholics today agree that to directly end the life of a foetus in the womb is a serious moral sin.
Genesis tells us Life begins at conception . This would suggest that from the moment of
conception, the foetus is a human and has rights to life. You shall not murder Exodus 20:13
informs us that even if the child is in the womb it still has a life and having an abortion is seen as
killing someone.
Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Jeremiah 1:5, suggests that God knows the soul of
every foetus, and therefore proves that the fertilised egg is a human life. Catholics believe that
God s spirit lives in every person, even in an unborn child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This means that as soon as the egg is fertilized it is seen as a new life. Therefore, it would be true
to say that Catholics are against abortion since Thou shall not kill is one of the commandments. By
having an abortion a life is destroyed. This is known as murder.
The only time Catholics accept, but not necessarily agree with abortion, is when the mother is in
great danger, and is likely to die if the pregnancy continues. However, this does not cover the
issue of when a woman has been raped. Catholics believe that is it wrong to kill a child for the
wrong doings of the father and for that reason should not be aborted.
Overall, the killing of a child is wrong, no matter whether it is in a womb or not. As a Catholic,
we would see that having an abortion is a form of murder and therefore a moral sin.
AO3 Abortion is never justified. Discuss.
Abortion is an issue which many people have strong feelings about. But should the foetus have
equal rights to the mother?
Some people may feel that if a mother was carrying an unwanted child, they should not be forced
to keep the child just because of religious beliefs. She is the one that would have to carry the child
for 9 months, so should have every option open to her.
The life of the mother is more important than the foetus if she is in real danger. The baby would
not know a thing since

Space Force Position Paper
POSITION PAPER ON SEPARATE AIR AND SPACE FORCES 1. This position paper will
defend separating the air and space forces into different branches of the armed services. The first
main point will discuss opinions for separating the forces. The second main point will cover
valid arguments against the separation of forces. The third main point will further advocate for
a separate space force. 2. The most basic reason for establishing a separate space force is the
different terrain.1 We look to the Navy to be experts in the sea and the Army on the ground.2
We look to the Air Force as experts in air dominance and supremacy, not space dominance or
space power.3 Space is an afterthought for most of our leaders due to their extensive flying
backgrounds and lack of space warfare knowledge, at no fault of their own.4 It is unlikely that we
will see a space officer sitting in the Chief of Staff role if the forces remain under one command
due to the large role that air power plays over space power.5 The space terrain deserves a seat at the
table with land, air and sea.6 The only way to make this happen is to establish a separate United
States Space Force.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The arguments against establishing a separate space force are becoming less relevant on a daily
basis as the demand and dependence on space capabilities grow. Many leaders view space as a
seamless domain to air, while this may hold some truth, consider the other branches also operate in
the air domain, meaning one domain does not solely belong to one branch of service.7 These
shared environments require joint coordination from all parties.8 Another common argument is the
costs associated with reorganizing efforts.9 These costs would appear steep in the beginning,
however giving the space force a separate budget and command would allow for efficiency and
effectiveness to grow over time.10 History has proven this with the separation of the Air Force
from the Army Air

Transition In College
When starting college the transition can be very hectic, it can cause much stress to some and to
others it can be a very smooth transition as if nothing has changed. This has a big thing to do with
the social norms, culture, geographics, socialization, and assimilation. Many students travel
across the world to go to college in various different places to explore different places that have
different cultures in which they are not used to. This can be a very hard thing to do but many
students do it without a second thought in their mind about what it could mean for the change in
social norms that they will have to adapt to once they move to the other places. They also do not

Most of this socialization will come from communicating with new people on campus and
interacting with peers that you have classes with or maybe even pass on a daily basis. An
example of socialization that many people like myself for instance would be the professors
giving out syllabus and having an set schedule for you to go by displaying everything for that
course, or maybe the rules and regulations of school policy as to where there were none back
home where you came from. In which many students are not used to when coming from a place
like high school or maybe no school at all. In college you are independent and that is a big leap
from high school where the teachers were more active in reminding students about deadlines for
assignments. Another great example of these different socialization norms would be like if
someone was used to calling people by there first name but once you reach college you are
required to call professors by their professional title or else they will feel offended. Students that
need assistance form those professors now have to professionally address them to receive
assistance or help regarding late submissions for work. These are all examples of socialization
for college students just starting college and it can become very overwhelming and confusing.

Wundt And Miller s Theory Of Psychology
Psychology has developed and changed over the course of its beginnings. There were numerous
contributors to the field the founders of psychology. This paper will focus on two of these
founders: Wilhelm Wundt, the first to develop psychology as a formal discipline, and George A.
Miller, the creator of cognitive psychology. This paper will compare and contrast the lives and
works of Wundt and Miller. These psychology founders shared some similarities such as
demonstrating expertise in other fields in addition to their work in psychology. They also both
held lengthy tenures at respected universities from which they conducted the bulk of their work in
psychology. One of the most notable differences between these two men is the time in which their
study was conducted Wundt s work started in the late 1800s and Miller s work began in the 1940s
and extending into the 1980s. Additionally, Wundt s disciplines of experimental psychology and
social psychology have ideation that differs from Miller s work in cognitive psychology.
Introduction
The field of psychology has grown and evolved in many ways since its inception over a century
ago. Throughout the development of this field there have been numerous innovators of thought
who are now considered founders of psychology. These founding fathers of psychology include
William Wundt (who established the first laboratory dedicated to psychology), John Dewey and

Arguments Against Veganism
Ever since the beginning of time, man has hunted and consumed animals for survival. Because of
this, it is been taught for millennials that meat is an essential to our bodies for survival and health.
While we are capable of eating meat, the question is, should we? Firstly, humans do not need to eat
meat, or any other animal products for that matter, for survival. Modern day humans are not living
in the same conditions as early humans were, making it unnecessary for us to consume animal
products. We no longer need to rely on animals for consumption, and in fact, it is actually best to
leave them absent from your diet. Numerous amounts of studies have been conducted that support
the claim that consuming animal products is detrimental... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most common arguments is that our ancestors ate it, so so should we. Humans have had
omnivorous diets since the beginning of mankind, and this has been an argument that is oftenly
used against veganism. Early humans were scavengers and ate whatever they could find for the
purpose of survival and it is believed that humans ate a majority of meat, however scientific studies
have shown otherwise. In a study conducted, plant derived fiber was the majority of what was

carnivores and omnivores require fiber to stimulate peristalsis, while all herbivores, frugivores, and
humans do require fiber to stimulate peristalsis, however in America, usually less than half the

humans did not hunt and eat animals, this suggests that the majority of what was ate ate was not

humans are supposed to eat meat because the mechanism of our body suggest so. This, however, is
false. When compared to carnivores and herbivores, humans share far more similarities with
herbivores. To begin with, humans have short and soft

Maus Essay On Human Nature
As time goes by one would think the world is evolving in a positive manner. With all the new
technology and new resources, we would assume to be better people than the generation before us.
Many would argue that we are better because we are always well informed by the tabloids and
social media of what is happening in the world. Unfortunately, we as humansare evolving in a
negative manner. Our human nature since generations before us show how cruel we are. In the
book, Mauswritten by Art Spiegelmanshows us how malicious and inhuman people can treat each
other. The novel illuminates our understanding of human nature as being evil as well as
deceiving individuals, who do not act to better the world as time goes on. In the comic, Jews
were sent to concentration camps but before they left a riot downtown was described. Vladek said
...Everyone Yelling, Jews Out! Jews out! ...even two people killed. The police just watched!
(Spiegelman 37). The quote shows how people are constantly being influenced when a higher
authority figure has more power than them. In this instance, Hitler had the authority and did not
want the best for Jews. Police are to keep everyone safe and control chaos. As we can see in the
quote above, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Panopticism In Nineteen Eighty-Four And Frankenstein
Panopticism is a social theory named after the panopticon , which was originally developed by the
French philosopher, Michel Foucault. Panopticon was first mentioned in his book, Discipline and
Punish. In his book, he refers panopticon to an experimental laboratory of power in which
behaviour could be modified. Foucault considered panopticon as a symbol of the disciplinary
society of surveillance (Panopticism). In the two novels, Nineteen Eighty Fourand Frankenstein,
panopticism is an element shown greatly. Though these two novels have many differences, this
similarity shared between the two is equally important.
Panopticism is the main element of the novel Nineteen Eighty Four. In the novel, it shows the
dystopian life where the government, or the Party has all the power, and they carefully monitor
their citizens 24/7 with the use of telescreens, which is a television and a security camera (Orwell
5). The Party monitors the inner party and outer party only because they are what is important,
unlike the proles whom the Party does not monitor at all. Winston mentions numerous times If
there is hope it lies in the proles (Orwell 80). The proles take up 85% of the population of
Oceania, therefore if there were to be a revolution the proles could destroy the Party.
In the novel Frankenstein, panopticism is shown immediately when the monster is created. The
monster has a prominent effect over Frankenstein and his actions. Frankenstein is terrified of the
monster and what he could potentially do to him and his family, he knows his creation is much
larger and stronger than he is. Although, the monster knows without Frankenstein the wish for him
to have a mate would be gone. Throughout the novel, the monster is always steps behind
Frankenstein, following him everywhere (Shelley 120). The monster is continuously stating his
dominance over Frankenstein, in one scene the monster says to Frankenstein You are my creator;
but I am your master; obey! (Shelley 120). The monster believes that although Victor created him,
he feels this does not mean he should obey. He believes that since he is much stronger than
Frankenstein, he is the master.
When the creature asks Frankenstein to create a female version of himself

Doxastic Trust And Preemption Theory Essay
Doxastic trust and Preemption theory support identifying apocalyptic roots through authoritative
topoi. The written expression of Doxastic trust is BcA, where B equals belief and A equals a
resulting compatible belief. Jaakko Hintikka introduced this formula, explaining, In all possible
worlds compatible with what c Believes, it is the case that A ; A (another belief
) follows due to B s
authority, rather than epistemological evidence for A. Scholars writing about Preemption theory
move a step further. A person listening to an authoritative speaker and so accepts p (the
authoritative speaker s view or belief on the subject) will supplant his or her own constructs of
reason with the speaker s in any related area. Christoph JaМ€ger and Paul Faulkner (among other
scholars) have challenged Doxastic trust and Preemption theory of late, but their questions concern
trust development, rather than whether hearer speaker trust exists. Certain necessary conditions,
however, predicate accepting p.
First, trust involves Epistemic Dependence: if H[earer] trusts S[peaker] on O[ccasion meaning the

They borrow it; scholars have long understood Pseudonymous writing a category encompassing
most Second Temple apocalyptic work as writing not just under a famous name, but also assuming
the attached authority and trust. Thus, they also borrow epistemic dependence and semantic
guidance from the ancient topos. The hearers (or readers) know beliefs may change from reading
the text, so the writer must borrow from sufficiently authoritative sources to overcome lingering
doubt, leaving available those topoi already accepted by the community whom the authors are
addressing. Otherwise, the borne message lacks authority to affect beliefs negating the author s
purpose. Finding authoritative topoi in apocalyptic literature therefore lays bare the influences by
which authors make their

Factors Affecting The Medical Decision Making And Disease...
The primary issues presented in this case are related to the cultural as well as the religious factors
affecting the medical decision making as well as disease management. This involves Rivka Cohen,
who is a six year old girl diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF). Rivka and her family live in a tight
knit Hasidic Jewish community where daily life is built on ancient laws and religious devotion. The
Cohen family have acknowledged that their daughter requires treatment for her medical condition,
but are struggling to find a compromise between their religious and cultural beliefs and the cf
treatment team s recommendations. The Cohen s medical decision making and disease
management is heavy influenced by their cultural and religious beliefs in conjunction with input
from their rabbi. At the present time, the CF treatment team has established a treatment plan, but the
Cohens are having a difficult time adhering to this plan due to several factor that will be discussed.

Passengers worldwide are finding air travel to be fast, reliable, safe and relatively inexpensive.
While flight in itself remains the same, aircraft manufacturers are constantly looking for ways to

Industry Definition
Before conducting an industry analysis, it is necessary to define the industries that Linde and
Praxair are competing in. While both companies are generally known as industrial gas companies,
this description offers little insight into the product offerings of each company and the differences
between the two companies. The first industry both companies compete in is industrial gas
production; each company produces hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and many other gases with
industrial use cases. However, both Praxair and Linde also serve consumers directly with some
products, including oxygen tanks for breathing or welding. In fact, Praxair has two retail locations

Further, even capital investment alone is not sufficient, as specialized technical expertise is
required to be successful in this industry. New entrants may find it difficult to attract top talent from
a larger, more established firm. Finally, the regulatory burdens imposed on this industry make
compliance relatively more expensive for new entrants. As a result, little attention is paid to new
entrants in this industry, as firms focus instead on rivalry among existing firms.
Threat of Substitutes
The threat of substitutes in industrial gases is moderately low, but is highly dependent to the
specific product. For example, hydrogen is often used in petroleum refining to remove sulfur. More
recently, however, researchers have found a way to use oxygen and ionic salts to remove sulfur
more efficiently, eliminating the need for hydrogen. In contrast, liquid nitrogen, often used to clean
sensitive equipment, has no practical substitutes, as it quickly eliminates all bacteria and other
contaminants due to its extremely cold temperature. Finally, oxygen, often used for medical
purposes, has no available substitutes due to human biology. Overall, while new technologies are
creating opportunities for new substitutes, most products that exist in this industry will never has
practical substitutes.
Bargaining Power of Customers
The bargaining power of customers in this industry is moderate.

Young adults are reading more than ever these days, and with the young adult literature expanding

what their children are reading. Some are concerned that the mature topics and profanity in novels

already happening in the movie business where there is a rating system in place. The 2006

Often held as a rite of passage and entrance into the Christian church, baptism is much more than
just symbolic ritual. Baptism was commanded by Jesus Christ in the Great Commission recounted
in the book of Matthew. Even though we are simplistically called to be obedient by being baptized
the Christian church has long debated the aspects of this ordinance. Denominations are divided on
the basic meaning, types and modes of baptism even two thousand years after the founding of the

Thereafter, infant baptism became the norm. (Hammett, 2005, pg 269) Three arguments are often
used in support of infant baptism. The early church used the idea of household baptisms mentioned
in the book of Acts to support that entire families were baptized for the acceptance of faith by the
parents of the household. Other historians point to the Gospel encounter of children being brought
to Jesus for blessing and for Him to pray over the children. The last support can be found in the
need of an act of covenant being established as it once was in the Old Testament. In the time of
Abraham young boys were circumcised as a sign of the convent. In the New Testament infant
baptism was used as that sign. (Hammett, 2005 pg 269 270). Each of these were steeped further
in tradition than biblical basis. The New Testament points more specifically to believers baptism
rather than infant baptism. As stated earlier, baptism is a symbolic act of obedience representing a
choice of salvation through Jesus Christ. It is unreasonable to think that an infant would be able to
make such a choice by itself. The parallel of Abraham s covenant is also misapplied. Hammett
points out, As circumcision was applied to Abraham s physical seed under the old covenant, so
baptism is to be applied to Abraham s spiritual seed under the new covenant. But the spiritual seed
of Abraham are thus of faith, which means that believers should be baptized, which, they would

The foreclosure crisis in America can only be resolved by every American citizen working

our lives. We must stop overextending ourselves beyond our economic means. The foreclosure
crisis of America has been caused by Americans borrowing money to purchase a home that they

The foreclosure crisis had to be predictable at some point by the lending agencies. But since there
is no undo on what has been done and a bailout is not desired, the lending agencies must work with
the homeowner and vice versa to reach a new agreement upon legal documents for repayment of the
loan acquired by the homeowner. The lending agency must also actively consider its own
budget, both from a balance sheet point of view and a profit and loss point of view. In order to
build a stronger balance sheet, the lending agencies should consider using some of the liquid
cash to pay off some of the creditors to eliminate debt. Some items such as properties may need
to be sold for cash to help with reducing the debt of the agency. And the profit and loss statement
should be reviewed to determine if any of the expenditures could be eliminated or reduced
drastically. Yes, drastically because this is a crisis for which resolution is needed! The income
should then be reviewed to determine various avenues of fund raising to speed up the payoff of any
debt the lending agency has incurred.

Summary Of Beethoven Sonata First Movement

Beethoven s Waldstein Sonata First Movement
Piano Sonata No. 21 in C major, Opus 53 is one of the most technically challenging and
compositionally ambitious piano sonatas by Beethoven. The name of the sonata, Waldstein , is
derived from Beethoven s dedication, Count Ferdinand Ernst Gabriel von Waldstein of Vienna, a
long time close friend and patron of the composer. Composed from 1803 to 1804, it is one of the
most important pieces of Beethoven s middle period and surpasses all the earlier sonatas in scope,
power, and energy. Like many other major pieces around the time the piece was composed,
Beethoven was constantly augmenting the sonata form, giving significantly more ... Show more

The key characteristic of this five note cell is that it is entirely composed of step wise motion. This
feature would affect the melodic and harmonic choices of the movement s composition, as the
movement is almost entirely built on step wise motion. Because of the step wise quality of the
movement, the primary harmonic motion is an oscillation between tonic and dominant chords.
The movement begins quite solidly in C major as the first component of the theme (figure 2),
which we will call component A, is a repeating eight note C major chord which hammers the tonic
tonality into the listeners minds. This component ends with an ascending three note step wise
motion in the right hand into the dominant of the key, with the second note being a sharpened F,
temporarily tonalicizing the dominant, suggesting the idea to the listeners that the beginning C
major chords may instead be serving a subdominant function to G. In measure 3 and 4, the left
descends into B, serving as a bridge to the upcoming flat VII to smooth out the jarring key shift.
We will call the right hand motif in measure 3 as component B and the one in measure 4 as
component C. All three motifs would come back later as important building blocks of the
movement. Beethoven confuses the listeners further as we progress into measure 5. The first four
measures are repeated, but the music

serves as a Carbon Sink , absorbing a large amount of Carbon but when the ocean absorbs too much
Carbon dioxide, it warms and a process known as ocean acidification occurs. The Carbon dioxide
mixes with the water and carbonate in the ocean creating bicarbonate ions (Talk), and when the
ocean gets too acidic, the corals die off, giving off a bleached look thus rending the ecosystem
uninhabitable. Hence the term Coral bleaching, this is huge because coral reefs contain about
25% of the world s marine biodiversity. From a human perspective, the biodiversity loss risk
human security. As many things can recede or disappear like medicines, or food sources may be
harder to obtain as the sources they come may disappear.

Student Debt
Fear of Losing
Facing a seemingly massive debt can create a scare tactic to continue on a path toward a higher and
exceptional education. Although there are controllable factors to help lessen the weight of student
debt it creates a wall of challenges toward furthering ones education, because of the fear of falling
into a seemingly large debt Canadian students are afraid to maximize their education, prohibiting
Canada to create and maintain a stronger and more skilled work force.
Picking a career field does not come easy.
After high school students are faced with the decision to continue pursuing a more advanced
education or going into the workforce as society would label it uneducated . Although there are

Research has uncovered that debt aversion has been a steady factor amongst those who chose not
to carry on to post secondary education. 70 percent of high school graduates claim that fears of
current and future financial standings spiraling out of control was a main factor for not pursuing a
higher education, one in four people stated that accumulation of debt was the main barrier. Studies
show that students from marginalized communities, low income backgrounds, and single parents
are more likely to have negative feelings along with being strongly hesitant toward acquiring
student debt. (Students,

True Flies Research Paper
True flies are insects of the order Diptera (from the Greek di = two, and ptera = wings). The most
obvious distinction from other orders of insects is that a typical fly possesses a pair of flight
wings on the mesothorax and a pair of halteres, derived from the hind wings, on the metathorax.
(Some species of flies are exceptional in that they are secondarily flightless.) The only other order
of insects bearing two true, functional wings plus any form of halteres are the Strepsiptera, and in
contrast to the flies, the Strepsiptera bear their halteres on the mesothorax and their flight wings on
the metathorax. Contents [hide] 1 Order Diptera 2 Anatomy and biology 2.1 Reproduction and

In some flies, this is a temporary rotation during mating, but in others, it is a permanent torsion of
the organs that occurs during the pupal stage. This torsion may lead to the anus being located
below the genitals, or, in the case of 360В° torsion, to the sperm duct being wrapped around the
gut, despite the external organs being in their usual position. When flies mate, the male initially
flies on top of the female, facing in the same direction, but then turns round to face in the opposite
direction. This forces the male to lie on his back for his genitalia to remain engaged with those of
the female, or the torsion of the male genitals allows the male to mate while remaining upright.
This leads to flies having more reproduction abilities than most insects, and at a much quicker rate.
Flies occur in great populations due to their ability to mate effectively and in a short period of time
during the mating

Rocky Blboa Persuasive Speech
Summary Despite having never seen this movie, I have seen this scene hundreds upon hundreds
of times. I listen to this speech before every game I play. This is an all around great pre game
pump up speech. The coach talks to his team before a big game. He is telling them that the
difference between winning and losing (living and dying) is just inches. In football, they may
literally be fighting for inches, but in reality, it s not about the inches. It s about the effort. Having
both played and coached sports, I appreciate the message the coach is sharing. Overall, I just really
love this speech.
Credibility The speaker established his credibility by showing his character. The speaker (coach)
seemed to care about his players and their success. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows Part 2
Summary I ve never seen Harry Potter so I m not entirely sure what happened to lead up to this
speech being given. A guy named Neville Longbottom is standing up to the bad guy without a
nose. At first it appeared that Harry Potter was dead, and Neville was talking about death and how
great of a person Harry was, then Harry woke up and a fight broke out.
Credibility I have no idea what type of person Neville Longbottom is, but based on the way he
talked about Harry Potter he seemed like a nice and sincere guy. I m pretty sure Harry Potter was
well liked, so it should have been pretty easy to get people to rally together to support something in
Harrys honor. I believe that Neville established his credibility by using his character.
Reasoning Neville uses reasoning from principle. He states that people die every day. Therefore,
Harry Potter s death should not be the end of the world. He uses this reasoning to try and convince
the audience that Harry s death will not stop

A Brief Note On Women And Informal Sector
1.4 WOMEN IN INFORMAL SECTOR
In many studies it is found that among all categories in the informal sector, domestic worker
income is the very lowest and they face many problems (Sundaram,1966). They are mostly
involved in household tasks, which include washing utensils, floor cleaning ,washing of cloths,
cooking as well as some outdoor tasks such as purchase of vegetables etc. Most of them live in
slums, lead a monotonous life without any colour, struggle in the every day for their survival for
the family and face a number of problems in their day to day life like long hours of
work, insecurity regarding jobs , low status within the house as well as in the outside world
(Gathia,1983). (Bipul Hazarika, Saswata Ghosh 2002)
Women in particular are the much affected in the informal labour market, women generally find
employment in peripheral jobs of the large units as temporary , contract or part time workers.
there are many women working as a domestic servants, hawkers, construction workers and petty
traders and women in search of livelihood who are self employed selling petty commodities such
as fruit, vegetables, beedis or even their own labour and bodies as domestic workers or as prostitutes.
Most of them are either illiterate or having lower education. They have to work in low paid and
low skilled jobs the irony is that through women bear double burden patriarchal perception consider
them as secondary labour forced and supplementary earners. The number of women in the

Hippotherapy In Physical Therapy
According to the American Physical Therapy Association, the scope of physical therapy includes
the prevention or minimization of problems caused by conditions of the musculoskeletal,
neuromuscular, cardiovascular, pulmonary, or integumentary systems (APTA, 2016). One of the
less conventional physical therapytreatment options is hippotherapy, also called equine assisted

physical therapists, and speech language pathologists to address problems in patients with neuro
motor and sensory dysfunctions (PATHI, 2016). Although not a commonly known therapy,

observing the increased tension in the rectus abdominis muscle. By directly measuring the electrical
activity in this muscle by using electrode pads both before and after hippotherapy, this study

Essay On Gender By Deborah Tannen
Deborah Tannen is an American academic and professor of linguistics at Georgetown University in
Washington, D.C. Her research mainly focuses on expressing interpersonal relationships in
conversational interactions, including how gender and cultural differences affect these interactions.
In her essay Tannen uses genderto portray the differences between maleand femaleconversational
styles in classroom discussions. She formulates the theory that males naturally prefer and dominate
contributions to these debate like discussions while females incline to participate in less hostile
conversations. Tannen presents her argument effectively using simple vocabulary and appropriate
literary devices however, as the essay progresses she detracts from... Show more content on

While she offers some thoughtful insight in regards to male and female conversational styles as
related to the classroom, she seems to be too one sided. She focuses on how males in every
situation dominate conversations more than females. Stating about a student in her class that, this
young man valued the experience of being attacked and challenged publicly. Many, if not most,
women would shrink from such challenge, experiencing it as public humiliation Tannen
generalizes this phenomenon to apply to all males and females without offering any tangible
evidence. She makes several such assumptions and statements that are not supported by adequate
proof, relying more on stereotypes than concrete facts. For instance, she assumes that the audience
has experienced participating in a classroom discussion, while it is possible that some of the
audience have not. Classroom debates are not practiced in every educational system. Moreover,
most of her assumptions are based on the findings from her own class experience only whereas
adding accounts from other classrooms would have aided in convincing the audience. This is
because not all classrooms are identical. Differences are evident from classroom to classroom.
When Tannen does include opinions from her contemporaries, they are not related to the main idea

Conditions In 15th Century Europe
At the turn of the 15th century, the conditions in Europe went from plague, a smaller population, a
lack of knowledge, and provincial learning to economic prosperity, enlightenment, and centralized
power that was brought about by the renaissance and the new monarchs. The first condition in
Europe that led to exploration was the Renaissance. The Renaissance was the revival of classical
art and studies of Ancient Greece and Rome. What began first in Italyspread throughout Europe, and
inspired creative thinking. This was a push factor because the maps of ancient geographers and
work of Arab scholars motivated Europeans to learn more about the world and lands that existed
besides Europe.
As the Renaissance inspired new thinking and a greater focus in science, many great advancements
were made in technology that pushed them toward exploration. One major improvement was
maritime technology. For example, the Portuguese had crafted a new ship that used the European
hull with triangle sails from the Middle East. This made sailing easier in strong winds and currents.
Another advancement was the invention of the printing press. This allowed explorers to share
information about their travels. It also inspired other explorers to try to travel to the same or new
places. Due to all of the advancements in science, math, and geography the condition of Europe ...

Argumentative Essay On Education Reform
Education reform is a topic that every student, parent and teacher should be interested in because it
effects everyone in the community. Many different approaches to education reform have been tried,
and even though they seem to work for the time being, there are always more improvements that
need to be made. One of the best ideas that has been discussed in the most recent years is getting
the parents and students more involved in the actual reform process. Many schooladministrators see
a problem with involving students, even though they are the ones most affected by the changes
within schools. Student s opinions should be taken into consideration because they are the ones
who see what happens inside the school and within the classroom, and are the most affected by it.
Involving parents and students in the reform of their schools will improve the quality of education,
improve parent and teacher relationships and reduce parent and student complaints. Education
reformis classified as any work doing to improve schools at any level. Education reform is any effort
determined to engage what currently exists in schools (Education Reform and Meaningful Student
Involvement). Education reform is also known as school transformation or change. Education
reform should include everyone at the schools including parents and students. Research shows that
for any school reform to be successful, students must be directly involved (Weiss). This
involvement of students can include

Summary Of Letting Go By David Sedaris
In the short story of Letting go David Sedaris speaks about his addiction to smoking cigarettes. He
mentions where it all started in the beginning of the story by him visiting the American tobacco
plant near Durham, North Carolina near his hometown. There he learned how cigarettes were
made and was also given a free pack to bring to his parents. During when he went to school smoking
was permitted almost everywhere from schools in classrooms to hospitals in front of patients, he
mentions how he remembered seeing ashtrays in grocery stores and in movie theatres which made
him want to do the opposite of smoking. When David Sedaris was young he hated smoking
because it was a sign of neglect for him, he forbade anyone in the house to enter his room with a lit
cigaretteand if they had to speak it him it would be from the other side of the door, and their head
turned while they exhaled. He found smoking depressing, he smelled it all around the house
which he disliked except from his room which smelled like an album cover when you took of
the plastic smelling like anticipation. It was not long until Sedaris himself started to smoke a
few years later, he explains how a lit cigarette was a signal for freeloaders who happened to see
or smell it. The first time David was hit on he was twenty years old smoking in Vancouver,
British Columbia where he was on vacation after picking apples the previous month in Oregon
with his best friend Ronnie. They stayed at some cheap hotel where he was introduced to the
murphy bed, he was shocked because he s only heard of them but never seen one, his greatest
pleasure while they were at the hotel was folding it away and pulling it out until he got tired of
doing so over and over after a while. While his time there he bought his first of pack cigarettes
from a little store down the block, they were viceroys because he saw them in a pocket of a gas
station attendant, and thought it would make him look more masculine. He talks about how
everyone near his area was super creepy drunks one after another. His father always said to david
it s a filthy stinking habit but on the other hand since he started smoking it has made David closer
to his mother because they now share a passion,

Most actors do not continue making films one after another until they die but Norma could not

foolish about how famous she actually was and her terrible script. Also a scary realization of
having a chance of ending up demented like Norma. The directors wanted to show us a alarming
visual of what life could be like for actors after their acting days were over.
I recommend this film for anybody that is interested in movies with the genre drama. The film

Dual Objectives
James Manson Wood once said, Education today, more than ever before, must see clearly the
dual objectives: education for living and education for making a living. College education is what
a person makes it, it can help them achieve their hopes and dreams, or people can go because you
have to to make a good living. Texas Tech University, home of the Red Raiders, is repeatedly
among the best agricultural schools in the country, and it will help me achieve my goals of
becoming a large animal veterinarian in the future.
College education today can be very pricey, especially considering that you have to pay for
everything, even applications. To even send in an application and be considered for Texas Tech
University it cost 75 dollars. Meal plans, dorms, and parking can add up to thousands and
thousands of dollars a semester. Classes are really expensive too, the average cost is 38,016
dollars per year. This may seem overwhelming, but fortunately there are ways to help you with the
cost. You can get scholarships in high schoolfrom many different organizations such as sports, or

Topics in Labor Relations
Key Topics in Labor Relations 26 February 2012 Lynne Treykor Collective bargaining, as its
name implies, is achieved when two or more parties come together to make a decision about
something. Specifically, it is achieved when employers and a group of employees work together to
decide important terms and conditions regarding employment. These terms and conditions include
compensation as well as rights and responsibilities of employees, employers, and unions. They can
also include guidelines for resolving problems such as grievances and disputes (Budd, 2010, p. 13).

This law is also known as the Wagner Act, named for Senator Robert F. Wagner, the man who
championed it. In a nutshell this law protects employees rights to form and participate in labor
unions. The book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance identifies the central provisions of the
Act. These provisions include the establishment of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB)
which answers representation questions and settles unfair labor practice claims. The act gives
workers the right to form unions and bargain collectively. It identifies five unfair labor practices
and establishes exclusive representation for unions that have majority support and grants them
rights of collective bargaining over wages, hours of employment and other conditions of
employment (Budd, 2010, pp. 119 121). The law also made it illegal for companies to fire
employees for forming or joining unions and prohibited company managed unions. A news
release on the NLRB website demonstrates a real life example of a potential violation of the
NLRA. The news release describes how well known aircraft manufacturer, the Boeing Company
has decided to establish a second non union production line for its 787 Dreamliner airplanes. This
normally wouldn t be an issue but the company s main production line is in a union facility. Boeing
stated that the reason they decided to use the non union plant was because of previous strikes and
the possibility of more strikes occurring in the future.

New York City Urbanization
The area that constitutes New York City today was originally populated by the Lenape people.
These autonomous groups of Native Americans were dozen odd groups who lived between today s
Eastern Connecticut and central New Jersey. They spoke an Algonquian language, lived in seasonal
campsites, and dedicated their lives to fishing, farming, and hunting. The first European to enter the
New York Harbor was the Florentine navigator Giovanni da Verraza, who was at the time searching
for a northwest passage to Asia. Despite the short visit, he named the area Nouvelle AngoulГЄme in
honor of the principal state of the King of France (Burrows and Wallace).

Even though factories were moving to neighboring boroughs after 1919, before World War II the
city did retain many factories in its central core, bucking the nationwide trend of suburbanization of
industry (Onion). Zoning regulations eventually made it more challenging to build factories in the
cities (Onion), so blue collar workers became attracted to the jobs in the suburbs. This process
essentially reshaped the city of New York, since the pushing of manufacturing industry made it
possible to disentangle the changing distribution of workplaces, homes, and commuting patterns
(Harris 169). In addition, the construction of interstate highways that took place after World War II
benefitted workers and their families when leaving the city ( New York City Facts Summary ).
The end of the 20th century represented the rise of New York s finance community to world
ascendancy. This phenomenon took place after the decline of New York as a port, yet the
density and size of the city turned the city into a center for the exchange of ideas and the general

  • 2. Essay On Zara Zara | Background information Zara is one of the largest international fashion companies and has over 2000 stores located across 88 countries. It is part of the large distribution group Inditex, which also owns brands such as Pull Bear, Stradivarius and Bershka. Zara s first store was opened in 1975 by Amancio Ortega in Spain. It featured low priced fashion items that looked similar to the products of the more popular brands. As the store proved to be a success, Ortega opened more Zara stores within Spain. During the 1980 s, Zara started its international expansion as a result of a change in its production of clothing, which allowed the company to react to trends much faster, creating instant fashions . Zara is unique in its marketing model as Zara has a policy of zero advertisement. Plus, its concept of fast fashion enables Zara to produce new collections every few weeks. This stimulates customers to visit Zara approximately seventeen times during a year, opposed to the three times other, similar companies expect their customers to visit, as Zara s products change regularly. Customers only have a short period of time to buy a specific item. The fact that Zara produces all its clothes itself, instead of buying clothes from other retailers, also makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of the exclusive and luxury image, people will want to buy a product just because it is a Chanel. As Karl Lagerfeld said: when you buy Chanel, you buy an idea. For example, the products at the supermarket created for the Fall/Winter PrГЄt Г Porter 2014/2015 Fashion Show all had the logo or the name of Chanel on it: Lait de Coco . After the show ended, the audience was allowed to walk through the supermarket. They grabbed what they could, all wanting something from Chanel. Unfortunately for them, they were not allowed to take the products with them. This shows how Chanel itself creates publicity and thus a higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Academy Awardss This past Sunday we were all invited to watch the 88th Academy Awards from behind our television screens. Otherwise known as The Oscars, this award ceremony is presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with the purpose of commemorating those who have displayed exceptional acting skills this past year in the film industry. However, this year, the Academy Awards have been synonymous with the hashtag Oscars So White, which ultimately, sheds light on the lack of minority representation in all twenty nomination categories. Outraged, well known actors and the public demand for a more equal representation of all races to be considered for Academy Awards. In this paper, I will be discussing how David Cox s article in regards... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dr. Ruiz defines interpersonal discrimination to be actions taken by individuals or small groups to deny something to members of an out group (Lecture, Ruiz, 02/25/2016). In Cox s article, he mentions how other minority groups such as Latinos, Asian Americans, or Hispanics have secured nominations. (Cox, 2). Cox also states that there is this universal appeal for using white actors in films (Cox, 2). The lack of diversity is astonishing and poorly reflects the diversity The Academy strives for. To further illustrate this discrimination, Keegan, Poindexter, and Whipp addressed the membership requirements for Academy voters. Their article states that changing the dominantly white, male voting population was impossible to reach because of the academy s stringent membership requirements and the underrepresentation of women and minorities in the entertainment industry (Keegan, Poindexter, Whipp, 2). This same article had a quote from New York critic Andrew Gruttadaro who said that no black peopledeserved a nomination. (Keegan, Poindexter Whipp, 2). Gruttadaro openly excluded black actors because of their acting skills. Because the film industry is comprised of white males, it is not a surprise to see individuals of their same race dominating the nominations. Actors and actresses are not the only ones where this discrimination is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ethical Argument Against Euthanasia Medical Ethics Medical ethics is always seen by many as an unusual blend; one many always seem to question. The fuse appeals to a range of different temperaments, to the philosopher, the doctor, and to the man or woman of action. It tackles the big questions of the morality of killing and the painstakingly difficult decisions having to be made by many on a daily basis. It also relates to the ethical spectrum as well, when can a mentally ill person be treated against their will? Is it a crime for any doctor to practice a form of euthanasia? Where better to start medical ethics, than with the complex topic of euthanasia. The main idea of euthanasia goes against the oldest and most famous moral instructions in religion, Thou shalt not kill [Exodus 20:13]. To be technical, the practice of euthanasia is morally required by the two main principles of medical practice: the respect for the patient s autonomy, and to promote their best interests. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are two interpretations if point 1 . One method of interpretation is the bad company fallacy or argumentum ad hominem, where a particular view is true or false, not because of the reasons in favour or against the view, but by virtue of the fact that a person holds that view. The second more widely known view is that all views by the Nazis are immoral. Some Nazis may hold views that do not relate directly, but they would not be seen as Nazi views . The Nazi views being referred are their horrific actions of torture and senseless killing. The problem with this view is however that the supporters of euthanasia are not supporters of the Nazis, and so this point can be considered invalid. The point at issue is whether euthanasia in certain circumstances is moral or immoral. All depends on the specific circumstances at hand and the best interests of the patient at ... A dream you dream together is reality, little did he know that his own dream would in fact become reality. Classic Rock has always been a well known music genre among multiple generations, yet everything has to start somewhere. The 1960s was a crucial era for the development of classic rock, for some of the most well known musicians partook in this period including The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin. An occurrence of their rising fame was the Rolling Stones song Satisfaction. .It was different than any other protest song previously made about that time. Instead of a few lyrics against the era, it conveyed an eloquent message. This song rationalized the rough, prejudiced days of the existing time during that era. Speaking of which, in December of 1969, the Rolling Stones played their last concert of that decade, they were joined with multiple other musicians to create a movement that would contribute to a new rock era, and a new look at music as it was (Carter). • 7. The Last Supper With Jesus And The Synoptic Gospels The Synoptic Gospels describe The Last Supper with Jesus performing many of the traditional elements found during the Jewish Passover as detailed in Exodus. Jesus, himself, was a Jewish man and celebrated this tradition as a part of his faith, so it makes sense that this final meal could hold traditional aspects of a PassoverSeder. The three Synoptic Gospels seem to demonstrate parallels between a typical Passover celebration and The Last Supper that Jesusperformed. The Gospelof Luke even calls in a Passover meal in chapter 22 verse 15. Joachim Jeremias , The Eucharistic Words of Jesus, comments that there are at least 14 specific parallels between Jesus Last Supper and the Passover Seder as seen through Exodus and the Synoptic Gospels. These 14 points include, worship, discussion of the symbolism of the meal, and bread being consumed. The three Synoptic Gospels tell of Jesus breaking bread with the disciples to symbolize his body which is a parallel to the unleavened bread that the Jewish people were to eat during their Passover meal. In two of the Synoptic Gospels, the group finishes their meal by singing a hymn before leaving the room which follows Moses command from God to the Israelites to worship Him after all the other commands that the Lord had given them for the Passover. During Passover, the recalling of the original event and symbolism of the parts of the meal are to be told and the same traditions are to be followed as the Lord had commanded to Moses and ... • 8. Stereotypes In High School High school is full of a variety of types of people, who can all be labeled into certain groups or stereotypes. High school can be an amazing time for people, just as easily as it could be a terrible time for people. It s quite odd how everyone goes to the same school, and mostly attend the same courses, yet they are significantly different from one another. Every school has the classic jocks, nerds, partiers/stoners, etc., but it appears our generation has created several new stereotypes. With students spending approximately 35 hours a week at school, it is easy for one another to label each other, and determine who they fit in with. The most common stereotype in Spring Lake is the Preppy Rich Kid. The Preppy part of these kids is that they love to wear a perfectly matching outfit; including their colorful Polo Shirts/t shirts, colorful short shorts, matching socks, with a matching pair of boat shoes/skate shoes. The Rich part of these kids is that they live in a big house on the water, their parents have high paying jobs, and their parents will buy them whatever they desire. These kids typically drive an expensive foreign car, usually blaring rap music out of their car s subwoofer everyday to school. Once they have arrived at school, most of them have a very enjoyable day. For the most part, they have a perfect life, including getting all the girls/boys, receiving good grades, being attractive, and being a phenomenal athlete. These kids are likable people, and ... They are driven to choose this lifestyle because of different reasons. The reason could be poverty or peer pressure. Teens may join a gang for protection or a sense of belonging. In the case of an eighteen year old boy from Akron, he has lived below the poverty line his whole life. Albi is an only child who has lived with his mother his whole life. • 11. Latin American Independence Movement Research Paper I believe the Latin American Independence movements failed when compared to other revolutions because of lack of planning, race relations, and major dependence on colonial powers. In the American Revolution there were great men who stood back and took the time with Constitutional Conventions to sit down and decide what everyone wanted and what would please everyone. Sure the Articles of Confederation didn t work out, but they took the kinks and worked through it to create the Constitution. This was not the case with Simon Bolivar and the Grand Columbia. In fact, as professor clay pointed out in class, a lot of people were very poor and the situation became worse with independence. Some people who had money before found themselves losing wealth instead of the other way around. In independence movements there is this ideal that once independence happens everyone will be better off, but there is a period of losing money. In the Latin American countries the wealth had become so great among the creoles and the upper classes that this was a scary idea so they began to make plays for power. Analysis Of George Orwell s Narrator In Shooting An Elephant Fitting In: Orwell s Narrator in Shooting an Elephant Since the publication of George Orwell s, Shooting an Elephant in 1936 many philosophers have engaged in conversation about humanity, violence, politics, power, dominance, race, culture and principles. Orwell was in fact a genius plain and simple, though in a very complicated way (Firchow 94). George Orwell brings you into his essay with lucid and vivid details the entire way starting from the setting, I remember that it was a cloudy, stuffy morning at the beginning of the rains, (25) to the characters attitudes towards one another, if a European woman went through the bazaars alone somebody would probably spit betel juice over her dress (23). The essay starts with the narrator, whom we assume is Orwell, a white man working as a sub divisional police officer in Moulmein, Burma where the British have a colonized. Being English, the narrator Orwell is hated by many of the natives, When a nimble Burman tripped me up on the football field and the referee (another Burman) looked the other way, the crowd yelled with hideous laughter (Orwell 23). One morning, Orwell receives a call about an elephant ram sacking the town and even killing a native Burman. Ultimately forcing Orwell into a dilemma of his own morality of what he ought to do and trying not to let down the immense crowd of yellow faces (26). In summary the scheme occurred for many reasons that I will some up into 3 points; A lack in competency by regulatory agencies, a lack of regulation, and finally a breach in ethics by Bernie Madoff himself. To explain further, the regulatory agencies like the lawyers and SEC are supposed to prevent schemes such as this one from happening but because they lacked the skills to correctly assess the situation, interpreting the number of tips they had received regarding scheme that had been filed, and to act on those in an efficient manner. Genesis tells us Life begins at conception . This would suggest that from the moment of conception, the foetus is a human and has rights to life. You shall not murder Exodus 20:13 informs us that even if the child is in the womb it still has a life and having an abortion is seen as killing someone. Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. This means that as soon as the egg is fertilized it is seen as a new life. Therefore, it would be true to say that Catholics are against abortion since Thou shall not kill is one of the commandments. By having an abortion a life is destroyed. This is known as murder. The only time Catholics accept, but not necessarily agree with abortion, is when the mother is in great danger, and is likely to die if the pregnancy continues. However, this does not cover the issue of when a woman has been raped. Catholics believe that is it wrong to kill a child for the wrong doings of the father and for that reason should not be aborted. Overall, the killing of a child is wrong, no matter whether it is in a womb or not. As a Catholic, we would see that having an abortion is a form of murder and therefore a moral sin. AO3 Abortion is never justified. Discuss. Abortion is an issue which many people have strong feelings about. But should the foetus have equal rights to the mother? Some people may feel that if a mother was carrying an unwanted child, they should not be forced to keep the child just because of religious beliefs. She is the one that would have to carry the child for 9 months, so should have every option open to her. The life of the mother is more important than the foetus if she is in real danger. This position paper will defend separating the air and space forces into different branches of the armed services. The first main point will discuss opinions for separating the forces. The second main point will cover valid arguments against the separation of forces. The third main point will further advocate for a separate space force. 2. The most basic reason for establishing a separate space force is the different terrain.1 We look to the Navy to be experts in the sea and the Army on the ground.2 We look to the Air Force as experts in air dominance and supremacy, not space dominance or space power.3 Space is an afterthought for most of our leaders due to their extensive flying backgrounds and lack of space warfare knowledge, at no fault of their own.4 It is unlikely that we will see a space officer sitting in the Chief of Staff role if the forces remain under one command due to the large role that air power plays over space power.5 The space terrain deserves a seat at the table with land, air and sea.6 The only way to make this happen is to establish a separate United States Space Force.... Many leaders view space as a seamless domain to air, while this may hold some truth, consider the other branches also operate in the air domain, meaning one domain does not solely belong to one branch of service.7 These shared environments require joint coordination from all parties.8 Another common argument is the costs associated with reorganizing efforts.9 These costs would appear steep in the beginning, however giving the space force a separate budget and command would allow for efficiency and effectiveness to grow over time.10 History has proven this with the separation of the Air Force from the Army Air ... Modern day humans are not living in the same conditions as early humans were, making it unnecessary for us to consume animal products. Humans have had omnivorous diets since the beginning of mankind, and this has been an argument that is oftenly used against veganism. In a study conducted, plant derived fiber was the majority of what was found in early human feces (nutritionfacts.org). • 22. Panopticism In Nineteen Eighty-Four And Frankenstein Panopticism is a social theory named after the panopticon , which was originally developed by the French philosopher, Michel Foucault. Panopticon was first mentioned in his book, Discipline and Punish. In his book, he refers panopticon to an experimental laboratory of power in which behaviour could be modified. Foucault considered panopticon as a symbol of the disciplinary society of surveillance (Panopticism). In the two novels, Nineteen Eighty Fourand Frankenstein, panopticism is an element shown greatly. Though these two novels have many differences, this similarity shared between the two is equally important. Panopticism is the main element of the novel Nineteen Eighty Four. In the novel, it shows the dystopian life where the government, or the Party has all the power, and they carefully monitor their citizens 24/7 with the use of telescreens, which is a television and a security camera (Orwell 5). The Party monitors the inner party and outer party only because they are what is important, unlike the proles whom the Party does not monitor at all. Winston mentions numerous times If there is hope it lies in the proles (Orwell 80). The proles take up 85% of the population of Oceania, therefore if there were to be a revolution the proles could destroy the Party. In the novel Frankenstein, panopticism is shown immediately when the monster is created. The monster has a prominent effect over Frankenstein and his actions. Frankenstein is terrified of the monster and what he could potentially do to him and his family, he knows his creation is much larger and stronger than he is. Although, the monster knows without Frankenstein the wish for him to have a mate would be gone. Throughout the novel, the monster is always steps behind Frankenstein, following him everywhere (Shelley 120). The monster is continuously stating his dominance over Frankenstein, in one scene the monster says to Frankenstein You are my creator; but I am your master; obey! (Shelley 120). Christoph JaМ€ger and Paul Faulkner (among other scholars) have challenged Doxastic trust and Preemption theory of late, but their questions concern trust development, rather than whether hearer speaker trust exists. Parents should be thrilled, but some are horrified with what their children are reading. Some are concerned that the mature topics and profanity in novels makes them too inappropriate for certain young adults. To know the content in the books their children are reading they suggest a rating system similar to movies and video games. Baptism was commanded by Jesus Christ in the Great Commission recounted in the book of Matthew. Even though we are simplistically called to be obedient by being baptized the Christian church has long debated the aspects of this ordinance. Denominations are divided on the basic meaning, types and modes of baptism even two thousand years after the founding of the Christian church. (Hammett, 2005, pg 269) Three arguments are often used in support of infant baptism. The early church used the idea of household baptisms mentioned in the book of Acts to support that entire families were baptized for the acceptance of faith by the parents of the household. Other historians point to the Gospel encounter of children being brought to Jesus for blessing and for Him to pray over the children. The last support can be found in the need of an act of covenant being established as it once was in the Old Testament. In the time of Abraham young boys were circumcised as a sign of the convent. In the New Testament infant baptism was used as that sign. (Hammett, 2005 pg 269 270). Each of these were steeped further in tradition than biblical basis. The New Testament points more specifically to believers baptism rather than infant baptism. As stated earlier, baptism is a symbolic act of obedience representing a choice of salvation through Jesus Christ. It is unreasonable to think that an infant would be able to make such a choice by itself. The parallel of Abraham s covenant is also misapplied. Hammett points out, As circumcision was applied to Abraham s physical seed under the old covenant, so baptism is to be applied to Abraham s spiritual seed under the new covenant. The lending agency must also actively consider its own budget, both from a balance sheet point of view and a profit and loss point of view. In order to build a stronger balance sheet, the lending agencies should consider using some of the liquid cash to pay off some of the creditors to eliminate debt. Some items such as properties may need to be sold for cash to help with reducing the debt of the agency. And the profit and loss statement should be reviewed to determine if any of the expenditures could be eliminated or reduced drastically. The name of the sonata, Waldstein , is derived from Beethoven s dedication, Count Ferdinand Ernst Gabriel von Waldstein of Vienna, a long time close friend and patron of the composer. Composed from 1803 to 1804, it is one of the most important pieces of Beethoven s middle period and surpasses all the earlier sonatas in scope, power, and energy. The key characteristic of this five note cell is that it is entirely composed of step wise motion. This feature would affect the melodic and harmonic choices of the movement s composition, as the movement is almost entirely built on step wise motion. Because of the step wise quality of the movement, the primary harmonic motion is an oscillation between tonic and dominant chords. The movement begins quite solidly in C major as the first component of the theme (figure 2), which we will call component A, is a repeating eight note C major chord which hammers the tonic tonality into the listeners minds. This component ends with an ascending three note step wise motion in the right hand into the dominant of the key, with the second note being a sharpened F, temporarily tonalicizing the dominant, suggesting the idea to the listeners that the beginning C major chords may instead be serving a subdominant function to G. In measure 3 and 4, the left descends into B, serving as a bridge to the upcoming flat VII to smooth out the jarring key shift. We will call the right hand motif in measure 3 as component B and the one in measure 4 as component C. All three motifs would come back later as important building blocks of the movement. Beethoven confuses the listeners further as we progress into measure 5. The first four measures are repeated, but the music ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When flies mate, the male initially flies on top of the female, facing in the same direction, but then turns round to face in the opposite direction. This forces the male to lie on his back for his genitalia to remain engaged with those of the female, or the torsion of the male genitals allows the male to mate while remaining upright. Most actors do not continue making films one after another until they die but Norma could not get this into her head. She spent years writing her script to return to the big screen and was set on that dream. Since Norma was obsessed with the goal of filming again it led her to become foolish about how famous she actually was and her terrible script. Also a scary realization of having a chance of ending up demented like Norma. The directors wanted to show us a alarming visual of what life could be like for actors after their acting days were over. I recommend this film for anybody that is interested in movies with the genre drama. The film refers to many references to past Hollywood and screenwriters, so it would help if you know a little bit of that background to have a better understanding to what the actors are saying. But I enjoyed the plot twists, astounding acting, and shocking ending. I actually asked my friend to watch the film by herself since the film was available on Netflix. I wanted to see a persons opinion on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Dual Objectives James Manson Wood once said, Education today, more than ever before, must see clearly the dual objectives: education for living and education for making a living. College education is what a person makes it, it can help them achieve their hopes and dreams, or people can go because you have to to make a good living. Texas Tech University, home of the Red Raiders, is repeatedly among the best agricultural schools in the country, and it will help me achieve my goals of becoming a large animal veterinarian in the future. College education today can be very pricey, especially considering that you have to pay for everything, even applications. To even send in an application and be considered for Texas Tech University it cost 75 dollars. Meal plans, dorms, and parking can add up to thousands and thousands of dollars a semester. Classes are really expensive too, the average cost is 38,016 dollars per year. This may seem overwhelming, but fortunately there are ways to help you with the cost. You can get scholarships in high schoolfrom many different organizations such as sports, or 4h and FFA. Also at Texas... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Topics in Labor Relations Key Topics in Labor Relations 26 February 2012 Lynne Treykor Collective bargaining, as its name implies, is achieved when two or more parties come together to make a decision about something. Specifically, it is achieved when employers and a group of employees work together to decide important terms and conditions regarding employment. These terms and conditions include compensation as well as rights and responsibilities of employees, employers, and unions. They can also include guidelines for resolving problems such as grievances and disputes (Budd, 2010, p. 13). According to our text book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance, increased focus on quality and greater competitiveness caused changes in business that have... In a nutshell this law protects employees rights to form and participate in labor unions. The book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance identifies the central provisions of the Act. These provisions include the establishment of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) which answers representation questions and settles unfair labor practice claims. The act gives workers the right to form unions and bargain collectively. It identifies five unfair labor practices and establishes exclusive representation for unions that have majority support and grants them rights of collective bargaining over wages, hours of employment and other conditions of employment (Budd, 2010, pp. 119 121). The law also made it illegal for companies to fire employees for forming or joining unions and prohibited company managed unions. A news release on the NLRB website demonstrates a real life example of a potential violation of the NLRA. The news release describes how well known aircraft manufacturer, the Boeing Company has decided to establish a second non union production line for its 787 Dreamliner airplanes. This normally wouldn t be an issue but the company s main production line is in a union facility. Boeing stated that the reason they decided to use the non union plant was because of previous strikes and the possibility of more strikes occurring in the future. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These autonomous groups of Native Americans were dozen odd groups who lived between today s Eastern Connecticut and central New Jersey. The first European to enter the New York Harbor was the Florentine navigator Giovanni da Verraza, who was at the time searching for a northwest passage to Asia. Despite the short visit, he named the area Nouvelle AngoulГЄme in honor of the principal state of the King of France (Burrows and Wallace). Even though factories were moving to neighboring boroughs after 1919, before World War II the city did retain many factories in its central core, bucking the nationwide trend of suburbanization of industry (Onion). Zoning regulations eventually made it more challenging to build factories in the cities (Onion), so blue collar workers became attracted to the jobs in the suburbs. This process essentially reshaped the city of New York, since the pushing of manufacturing industry made it possible to disentangle the changing distribution of workplaces, homes, and commuting patterns (Harris 169). In addition, the construction of interstate highways that took place after World War II benefitted workers and their families when leaving the city ( New York City Facts Summary ). The end of the 20th century represented the rise of New York s finance community to world ascendancy. This phenomenon took place after the decline of New York as a port, yet the density and size of the city turned the city into a center for the exchange of ideas and the general flow of information (Glaeser 30). The flow of information and the city s ability to acquire and sell businesses is what has contributed to the city s survival as a major center of world finance (Glaeser ...
