I have chosen to analyse the prejudicial treatment and discrimination of different
categories of people, especially on the grounds of race, class and most definitely
gender. These themes are prominent in my chosen texts, the short story The Doll s

Introduction:
In this review, three different analysis techniques will be discussed, including
Structured What If Technique (SWIFT), Failure Modes, Effects, and Diagnostic
Analysis (FMEDA) and Technique for Human Error rate Prediction (THERP). Each
of them will be discussed in three aspects (concept, suitable situations and
application).

SWIFT:
Concept of SWIFT:
As a technique of risk identification, SWIFT is flexible and focus on high level. It
can be run alone, or as a portion of a staged method to achieve more efficient use of
bottom up methods like FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) [1].
By concentrating on high level procedures, SWIFT can often be conducted more
rapidly than more detail oriented approaches. In fact, an industrial case showed
that a SWIFT risk assessment could be conducted in as little as one third of the
time required for a HAZOP (Hazard and Operability study) based approach [1], a
result that was replicated in a study comparing SWIFT to HFMEA (Healthcare

Prefabrication Haas et al (2000), prefabrication normally involves a single skill or

process, which generally takes place at a specialized facility, in which various
materials are joined to form a component part of a final installation (Tatum et al.,

The components of preassembly may be completed at the job site eg specialized
factory, in a remote location other than the place of final installation. Usually
preassembly often contains portions of systems, and work that is from a variety of
crafts is naturally necessary for the installation. It is considered to be a combination
of prefabrication and modularisation and may make use of fabricated components
completed off site and then assembled near the site. These units can then be installed,
similar to modules (on site). (Klerk, 2013) It is apparent that no single definition
exists for these concepts but it does however seem that these terms all adhere to a
general theme, specifically: Components manufactured in a controlled environment,
either on or off site and then assembled at the project location. (Klerk, 2013)
Industrialisation this term is used to try incorporate all three aspects of offsite
construction work which is; modularization, prefabrication, and preassembly. The
industrialization process can be described as an investment in equipment, facilities,
and technology with the intention of an increase in output, a decrease in manual
labour, and improving quality of work (Warszawski 1990). The process uses the
concepts of manufacturing and applies them to construction. It also implies the use of
a fully integrated and automated project process to a certain extent. The term

However, whether it was good or bad, positive or negative, right or wrong, these
experiences have shaped my moral and ethical development and made me who I
am today. My mother taught me to respect my elders and peers at all times. She
also told me not to pre judge other people. Her saying was, never judge a book by

My childhood was very difficult as I tried to fit into an all black community. I
realize it was hard for my siblings and other people to accept me for who I was;
therefore making me see the reality that we live in a diverse society, and people
