2. • The importance of color in design stems from
the significance of color to the human mind.
Color creates ideas, expresses messages, spark
interest, and generate certain emotions. ...
Within the psychology of colors, warm colors
show excitement, optimism, and creativity; cool
colors symbolize peace, calmness, and harmony.
• Color as a Tool
• Color is powerful because it helps in changing the
mood – the mood of prospective customers/
consumers.
3. • The three-dimensional system most familiar to painters is
the classification of colours of objects according to
dimensions of hue, lightness (= value or greyscale value)
and chroma or relative chroma (often loosely referred to as
"saturation".
• Hue refers to the circular scale of "pure" or "saturated"
colours formed by the colours seen in the spectrum (red,
orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue and violet), together with
the non-spectral colours like magenta, seen when the two
ends of the spectrum are mixed.
4. • Lightness refers to the scale from black to white; tone,
value, and greyscale value are synonyms or very closely
related. Chroma or colour strength refers to the amount of
visual difference from a grey of the same value. In short
then, the system may be said to classify any object colour
according to the closest full or "saturated" colour, the
closest grey, and the visual difference from that grey
Because the maximum chroma attainable with any set of
paints varies with value, a hue page that shows all
variations of value and absolute chroma attainable for a
given hue has an irregular right margin and because this
margin varies for each hue), a hue-lightness-absolute
chroma space has an irregular, tree-like shape.
• Simpler systems arbitrarily treat the maximum chroma
attainable for each hue as uniform, resulting in a circular
"colour wheel" and a cylindrical colour space.
5. • Colour helps us instantly understand our environment
important to our daily life
Symbolism of colour
• It is common knowledge that colours represent meaning.
For example blue is associated with calmness and a specific blue is
utilised by Samsung. But it is subjective and each culture and
generation will have different meanings for colour.
• There are however standard universal colour meanings. For eg:
Red can communicate many different ideas depending on its context.
Because red is associated with fire, it can represent warmth — or
danger. Since red is also the colour of blood, it’s considered an
energetic, lively colour and is also associated with matters of the
heart, and sometimes violence.
• In some Eastern cultures, red symbolizes good fortune and prosperity
and is the colour worn by brides on their wedding day. Worldwide, red
has been associated with various political movements and has
symbolized revolution.
• In branding red often communicates strength, confidence, and power
and is a highly visible colour.
6. Different Kinds of Colors
• Different Kinds of Colors
• To use of colors we can manage the reactions of our target audience and
can provoke them to bound behaviors. Following are the commonly used
colors along-with their impact on users.
• Warm Bright Colors
• Beige, yellow, orange, pink, red and alike. These are active, obvious colors
with a friendly nature that will induce a way of spirit and energy.
• Warm bright colors visually enlarge objects and build them appear closer.
Owing to their high visibility I advise limiting their use among solemn
colors.
• Cold Bright Colors
• Lavender, silver, and azure add subtlety, filled with aesthetics and
freshness, accents.
• Such cold yet bright tones gives a sensitivity of modernism and expertise if
conjointly combined with gray. It’s a good composition for commerce,
businesses, and service websites particularly with health, cosmetic and
medicine products.
7. Colour Theories
In the visual arts, color theory is a body of practical
guidance to color mixing and the visual effects of
a specific color combination. There are also
definitions (or categories) of colors based on the
color wheel: primary color, secondary color, and
tertiary color.
3 basic categories of color theory
1. color wheel,
2. color harmony,
3. context of how colors are used.
Color theories create a logical structure for color.
13. Colour Harmony
Colors can be very powerful. They stir up our emotions, convey
personal and cultural messages, and set the mood. A bright red can
shout “Stop!” while a deep blue can be calming and quiet. While
individual colors say a lot on their own, most of what we see in the
world involves more than one color. The way those colors work
together is called color harmony.
Have you ever noticed that a bright pink rose stands out against a
green bush? Or that a blue top goes well with khaki pants? That’s
basic colour harmony While certain color pairings come naturally,
choosing the color scheme for a blog can be a little daunting. There
are so many colors to choose from! Some colors look great
together, and others clash dramatically! Learning basic color
theory can help bring a little structure to the color-choosing process
and lead to more harmonious colors.
21. • Conclusion: Color creates ideas, expresses
messages, spark interest, and generate certain
emotions. ... Within the psychology of colors,
warm colors show excitement, optimism, and
creativity; cool colors symbolize peace,
calmness, and harmony.
• With the help of colour wheal and knowledge
of different colour schemes to create beautiful
design.
