A Brief Note On Crime And Violent Crime
It may be argued that the media disproportionately exposes violent crime because is more serious, but
with crime in Canada at an all time low, why is it that the media only advertises the numbers
associated with violent crime to be at an all time low and not all crime. How does online news outlets
cover the decrease in crime in relation to violent crime and non violent crime? The variables that will
be used are online news outlets stories and articles regarding the crime drop, and the reduction in
crime (violent vs non violent). The sample will consist of popular online news outlets who s articles
will be looked over in order to determine what they deem important in regards to the crime drop. It is
predicted that mainly only violent crime statistics are written about because it comes off as the most
exciting, regardless of the fact that it is less common.
It is known that crime in Canada has gone down over the last few years, and that this is or has been
advertised on just about every online news outlet in Canada. This is great! However, we still see
stories about crime in the news quite often, and this is not surprising. What is though, is that the crime
reported on the news is typically only violent crimes, regardless of the fact that crime statistics
typically indicate that only 10 percent of crime committed in Canada is actually violent. Stats Canada
(2014) indicates that there are approximately 340,000 violent crime violations (eg. homicide, sexual
assault,

Loss Of Chance Is An Alternative Cause Of Action
Loss of chance is identified as an alternative cause of action , particularly, in cases of medical
negligence. In recent cases, where actions based on causation have failed, it has succeeded. The onus
lies on the plaintiff to prove negligence by the defendant and loss of a chance of a better outcome.
However, a plaintiff cannot establish that the defendant s negligence probably caused their injury. The
concept of loss of chance is defined as a doctrine that permits the recovery of damages upon
destruction or reduction of prospects to ultimately achieve a more favorable outcome. In the case of
Rufo v Hosking, the court found that In order to recover damages for the loss of a chance of a better
outcome, the plaintiff is required to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, provided negligence is found, more than a one percent (1%) chance of a better outcome
needs to be proven by a plaintiff in order to be awarded damages. However, the quantification of
damages is related to the quantification of the loss of chance in relation to the injury. The value of the
injury could be a small or a large fraction of the amount.
Most recently courts have established the loss of chance doctrine as an alternative or additional cause
of action in medical negligence litigation. Although loss of chance had earlier been recognised in the
High Court of Australia as an suitable cause of action in non medical cases of negligence as well, in
the matter of Sellars v Adelaide Petroleum NL, and had been considered but not implemented in the
medical cases of Chappel v Hart, and Naxakis v Western General Hospital, it was a major factor in the
New South Wales medical case of Rufo v Hosking. Subsequently, the loss of chance has been the basis
of several other successful cases of negligence against doctors or health authorities in New South
Wales, including Halverson v Dobler, State of New South Wales v Burton, and Tabet v Mansour. It
was also successful in the matter of Gavalas v Singh.
In contrast, the concept of loss of chance was rejected in the case of Gregg v Scott, and has not yet
been reconsidered by the High Court. Despite the fact that this case has no authority in Australia, the

Emotional Intelligence is a situated of capacities concerned with transforming feelings and passionate
data. Debate about the particular significance of enthusiastic brainpower put aside, one inquiry is
foremost: Do sincerely canny pioneers accomplish unrivalled conclusions? (Walter et al., 2012). In a
few settings, it is somewhat natural that managing successfully with one s own and others feelings is a
key to achievement. All the more as of late, these abilities or capacities have again refinished as a
major center of consideration inside undertaking administration, determined by the more extensive

exploration has been fabricating in the course of recent decades that has discovered these enthusiastic

The Music And Motion Picture Industry
Kanye West, a famous hip hop artist, stated in the latest episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians
that the internet destroyed the music industry (2015). What did he mean by this? He meant that since
the boom of technology and the immergence of the Internet, it is easy for someone to place a file on
the internet and share it worldwide. File sharing, in and of itself, is not illegal. The problem or the
legality of file sharing comes to play when you share or receive a file that you did not pay for yourself.
The copyright laws state that it is unlawful to download or share copyrighted works such as music or
movies without the expressly written consent or authorization of the copyright owner. The music and
motion picture industry have taken an aggressive approach in efforts to stop illegal file sharing and
piracy. When I think of files sharing, the first couple of services that comes to mind are Napster and
Pirate Bay.
This system, what s most interesting about it is, you re interacting with peers, you re exchanging
information with a person down the street. Shawn Fanning, Napster co founder
Back in 1999, a college student by the name of Shawn Fanning created a college project called
Napster. Napster was a file sharing service that many people utilized to get their music. Before
Napster, the only way to share a file was to email it to a recipient, or to burn it to a disk or thumb drive
and physically give it to someone. Napster only survived a few years

No Sympathy for Slaves in Mark Twain s Work
No Sympathy to Slaves
Many writers on the African American diaspora have attempted to capture the black experience in
America, although some to no avail. Most Black authors like Zora Neal Hurston, Martin Delaney, and
countless others have succeeded in painting the most accurate image of black people with the
characters in their stories. Nevertheless, some authors fail in their portrayal of black people by using
recycled economic stereotypes, highly metonymic based characters, and Fetishization. Questions often
arise regarding whether or not these authors have taken a serious look into the African experience in
America or simply expressing, subtly, racist views. Mark Twain is the author of two very important,
however controversial, stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mark twain avails himself as a racist because of his little consideration to portray black people in an
accurate manner. Moreover, Twain commits a similar fallacy regarding the construction of Tom
Chambres character in Huck Finn.
Even before the onset of slavery and the Trans Atlantic slave trade, Europeans have been devilishly
curious, interested, fascinated, and even fearful about anything African, mainly African physical and
sexual prowess. Further, some whites even went to the extremes of randomly lynching black men.
These lynchings included a number of things, but largely involved the castration of Black men; white
men were fearful that black men would ravish their women in light of perceived African sexual
deviancy. In her book, Playing in the Dark, Morrison encourages readers to consider the concept of
Fetishization. This term applies to the absolutism of humanity and savagery. It highlights the purity of
white blood in light of possible poisoning and pollution by African blood. The connotation here is that
everything white is pure and clean, while grotesque, dirty, deviant, and ungodly is the nature of
everything African. The story of Tom Chambres from The Tragedy of Puddnhead Wilson details this
fallacy committed by Twain. Essentially, Tom Chambres is the product of a sexual interaction between
a half black half white slave women with a white master. His features are undeniably,

Advertisement Is A Perfect Example Of Postmodernism...
The Dove Evolution advertisement is a perfect example of postmodernism advertising and
complements the above discussion of hyper reality. The advertisement presents the full process in
creating a billboard worthy advertisement. Firstly, the segment provides a behind the scenes look at
how the model is, essentially created , and shows the audience how the original image becomes the
final product, unlike modernist advertisements which just presents an already final and beautiful
product. Emphasis on the use of photo shop illustrates how technology has become a tool in modern
day advertising and highlights Baudrillard s (1994) view that the people of today live in an unreal and
fake world. Filming and disseminating this process allows us to live without the illusions that
modernity dangled before us (Hart pg 9) The background classical music that has been slightly
distorted illustrates Hart s (2004) belief that Postmodernism takes what it likes from high culture
(classical music) and puts it to work in popular culture (advertising) (Pg 8, Hart, 2004), further
illustrating the idea that postmodernism involves removing things out of their contexts, fragmenting
them...and, well, playing with them (pg 8, Hart, 2004). The final cut shows the billboard up, without
showing the process of how that image came to be, reiterating Mills (1956) argument that the public
would be unable to tell that it is a hyper real image. This advertisement exemplifies Harvey s (1990)

How Did Walt Disney Influence The World
Whenever I go on a ride, I m always thinking of what s wrong with the thing and how it can be
improved (Walt Disney). This quote sums up Walt Disney because all he ever did was look at how he
can make something better. He looked at things in a different way than others, and would think
differently than others. Walt Disney was an American motion picture and television producer, who is
famous as a pioneer for cartoons, and the co founder of Walt Disney Productions, and drastically
influenced the modern day animated cartoons and the film industry. Walt Disney was born on

Essay On Athletic Director
Initially when Mark began answering questions and introducing himself, it was very apparent that he
is very compassionate and caring about his work and surroundings. Mark received his bachelor s
degree in finance from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Later, through the trials and errors of
life, he decided he wanted to pursue a teaching/coaching career and only needed to take one semester
of classes at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa in order to receive his teaching degree. In
addition, he received his master s degree from the University of Southern Florida. Through many
discussions with his wife and job experiences working at local banks here in Sioux Center, Mark has
found that teaching and being involved as an athletic director is his passion and the job he truly
enjoys.
Being an athletic director is a very busy and non stop job as Mark is always at the high school here in

Establishing Unity Roundtable With An Updated Version Of...
We started our semester with the main goal of establishing UNITY Roundtable with an updated
version of constitutions and bylaws. After a couple of weeks of receiving feedback from the UNITY
Roundtable reps we settled and voted on the latest version of them. After that was completed,
Deshauna and I with the help of the reps we worked to recruit a SFAC Liaison and after several weeks
we elected Vincent Wan. He will oversee the allocation of next year budgets and make sure the
process and decisions is equitable and inclusive of multicultural organizations.
Through the semester, we came up with different long term goals such as creating a proposal for the
renovation of the three multicultural houses. To complete the research and plan we formed a
workgroup that will be chaired by Senator Carter. This working group is formed by three UNITY
Roundtable members and three Student Senators. They will research best practices from other
institutions and create a proposal that UNITY will vote on and present to the board of Trustees during
their spring gathering.
This semester was hard for students from marginalized communities, hence, most of UNITY s
organizations. Starting with the hate crime targeting two Latina students on campus. We reacted to this
by organizing a meeting for student to color. During this meeting we address the hate crime, self care,
and action steps. We invited Scott Law, Tony Tyler, and Provost Sue Madison to speak with us about

Prohibition Essay
Prohibition
The 18th amendment, known as prohibition, had America in fits when it was ratified in 1919. The
government was hoping to achieve a healthier, efficient society with good morals and a break for
women from receiving beatings from drunken husbands. Although the motives behind prohibition
were reasonable, it was so corrupted from the beginning that it never could have successfully been
carried out. America became a lawless period, and many Americans felt that if they could get away
with ignoring one law, then they did not have to follow any others (Axelrod 239). However, it may
have been necessary for the progression of America for it accomplished a great many other feats other
than sobering up citizens. Women fought actively for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it was not only Americans who were feeling the sting of prohibition. Foreigners, especially
Germans, were angry at the movement, feeling that they were being discriminated against for how
they lived (Kyvig).
Alcohol was, at first, relief from stress for men, but soon became a part of society as a whole. Alcohol
was a big factor in determining your social status and offered many men and women legal jobs to
support themselves and their families. It was cheaper than other drinks, such as coffee or tea, and it
was safer to drink than unpasteurized milk or impure water, so it was the ideal drink, some elderly
citizens needed alcohol for medical reasons (Kyvig). Nevertheless, this did not stop the ratification of
the 18th amendment.
When government embraced prohibition, what was taken for granted became lost. Women being
submissive towards men, men holding down a secure job, and the economic boom of the Roaring
Twenties all came to pass when alcohol was prohibited. Although considered by some an advantage,
others saw how women used their newfound freedom as offensive. Flappers an alcohol became and
almost indistinguishable couple. Although it gave women a chance to show their knowledge and class,
temperance was thrown out the window (Lerner 176). As well as women breaking free, jobs were
being broken off, throwing men and women into

On Why Are More American Teenagers Than Ever Suffering...
Quan Thi
Reflection Paper #2 The New York Times article revealed that there s an increasing number of
teenagers suffering from severe anxiety as a result of several factors. Some of these factors include the
increasing standards to succeed in this society as well as the advancement of technologies in the past
decade. After reading Why Are More American Teenagers Than Ever Suffering From Severe Anxiety?
by the New York Times regarding the increasing prevalence of severe anxiety among teenagers, I
begin to question what have changed so much to cause this epidemic as most teenagers, especially
high school and college students, have experienced anxiety or depression to some degree at some
point in their lives. Anxiety is something that most people have on a daily basis and in a small amount,
it s a signal that encouraged people to take action and resolve the conflict that has been bothering
them. But now, many teenagers are diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder and I believed the reason
for this is the increasing standards that teenagers have to face. For example, the growing requirements
for getting admitted into a competitive college is a major stressor for most high school students. In
addition to academic, these students need to distinguish themselves from their peers by being involved
in extracurricular activities or volunteer if they want any chance to get into a competitive college.
Because of this, I think many students forced themselves to be perfect in every

Measuring The Distributional Characteristics Of L2 Input...
Given the two necessary conditions for measuring the distributional characteristics of L2 input stated
above, it becomes obvious that input variability differs fundamentally from the variability in a TL
construction (cf. section 2.3.2). The same conclusion can be drawn from the fact that non robust input
and the TL variable structure are proposed as two different, though closely related and interacting,
forces of interlanguage fossilization (Han, 2013) (see section 2.3.1). For simplicity, variability in a TL
construction will be referred to as construction variability in the remainder of this dissertation
proposal. To recapitulate, Han s (2014) conceptualization of the variability dimension of L2 input
robustness consists of the following levels: (a) one to one, or one TL form encoding one meaning; (b)
one to many, namely one TL form encoding multiple meanings across multiple contexts, or (c) within
the same context; and (d) many to one, or multiple TL forms encoding the same or a similar meaning
(see section 1.3). Though identical in terminology and entailment on the surface, construction
variability signifies (in)consistency in the form meaning function relations of the TL in the
prescriptive, categorical sense, and is generally stable in distribution. Input variability denotes a TL
construction s (in)consistency in the form meaning function mappings in discourse episodes that make
up the primary linguistic data immediately accessible to L2 learners. Whereas naturalistic

Focus By Daniel Goleman
Whether or not society recognizes it, there is a gravitational pull amongst all, towards technology.
Within that pull, lies the loss of an ability to focus and to connect with one another. Close friendships
fade, romantic relationships dissolve, and family dynamics dim. At the root of the heartaches, lies
technology whether it be cellphones, laptops, television, or tablets. In Daniel Goleman s book, Focus,
he examines the the correlation and causation of technology and the effects it has on the human brain.
Goleman spends plenty of time discussing the lack of human connection being resulted in the era of
technology and how it effects individuals. As one of those individuals, Goleman s writing reflected my

first to admit, technology has made my life easier in every possible way. There is no longer a need to
spend several hours reading books for a research paper, to pull out the phone book to search for
someone s contact information, or to spend time calling someone. For that, I am truly grateful yet, I
have noticed my self being confused in every day situation when I don t have my phone with me. For

Marital Expectations In Edna Pontellier s The Awakening
The pressures and expectations of society can be truly grueling; at times it may seem there is only one
way to escape these pressures. The Awakening follows the transformation of a simple and obedient
housewife, Edna, into a self actualized, empowered woman or so it seems. In an epiphany, Edna
realizes the only way for her to truly escape the oppression she feels from society and her husband, is
to commit suicide. At the beginning of the novel Edna is afraid of water, at the end, it is her escape.
Edna realizes that her biggest fear of overcoming society s expectations is inescapable and these
expectations literally and metaphorically drown her. However, it is unclear if Edna actually made this
choice made for herself or if society chose it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Edna s life completely lacked passion: passion for her husband, passion to be a mother, or even
passion towards her art. Edna lacks the internal motherly instincts expected of a woman, She was fond
of her children in an uneven, impulsive way. She would sometimes gather them passionately to her
heart; she would sometimes forget them. The year before they had spent part of the summer with their
grandmother Pontellier in Iberville. Feeling secure regarding their happiness and welfare, she did not
miss them except with an occasional intense longing. Their absence was a sort of relief, though she
did not admit this, even to herself. It seemed to free her of a responsibility which she had blindly
assumed and for which Fate had not fitted her (Chopin 18). Edna refuses to become the property of
her husband even though obedience was expected, You have been a very, very foolish boy, wasting
your time dreaming of impossible things when you speak of Mr. Pontellier setting me free! I am no
longer one of Mr. Pontellier s possessions to dispose of or not. I give myself where I choose. If he
were to say, Here, Robert, take her and be happy; she is yours, I should laugh at you both (Chopin
108). This is ironic because at this time according to Louisiana law, women were, in fact, their
husband s property. Edna s husband tried to control Edna s choices and behavior. The oppression Edna
feels from her marriage is symbolically represented through the parrot at the beginning of the novel.
The parrot is caged, showing Edna s imprisonment in her own marriage. The parrot also shrieks and
curses at Mr. Pontellier after he scolds Edna, showing what Edna wishes she had the power to do,
retaliate (Chopin 1). This symbolic representation is present throughout the novel in showing Edna s
imprisonment in her own life. The bird s shrieking shows how Edna wishes she could stand up for

Baby Rohan Jameson Ramjit Is Growing Healthy As Ever
3rd Trimester, 31 weeks and 4 days, Baby Rohan Jameson Ramjit is growing healthy as ever. During
these past 7 months, I have gained so much love for someone I have never met before. Being 24 years
old and becoming a mother has changed my views on life. Learning so much about caring for a
newborn has brought on the thought of bottle feeding or breast feeding and trying to figure out which
one is safer for his health. Children enter this world helpless, trying to understand their new
environment and learning their new touch. Infants depend on the caring individuals around them,
especially their mothers, to help them in their first few days of life to figure out the new aspect of life.
It is the obligation of the parents to take care and nurture their newborn. Parents are to deliver for their
children both through emotional needs as well as survival needs.
One thing about caring for a newborn is needing to be fed through the means of milk. Formula bottle
feeding or milk from the breast is a decision made by the mother and father over doing their research
of the health of their child. As stated in Nancy E. Wright s article on the progression of breastfeeding,
Aristotle said, There is a reason behind everything in nature. Certain incidences take place in nature
that has effects or consequences to them. Choosing to breastfeed is a decision that new mothers make
that requires sacrifice and hard work, yet has the prospective to be a very healthy food nutrient for
infants.

How Did Humphry Davi Impact Society
Science and technology greatly correlates with each other within the world today. Science is the study
of the world around us, how to understand it, and how to make it better. Technology exists because of
science. Without science, there is no technology because technology is nothing but applied science.
Humphry Davy was a famous British inventor, who was once the leading chemist of his day, and a
philosopher. Like Mr. Davy once said on November 30, 1825, Fortunately science, like that nature to
which it belongs, is neither limited by time nor by space. It belongs to the world, and is of no country

Essay on Objective Objectivism in The Fountainhead by Ayn...
Objectivism is defined as an ethical theory that moral good is objectively (based on facts rather than
feelings or opinions) real or that moral precepts are objectively valid. (Webster). Demonstrated by Ayn
Rand in the book, The Fountainhead, objectivism seems to most, to be morally wrong, and socially
impractical, despite seeming to be a stress free way of life. In The Fountainhead, Howard Roark does
not see relationships as necessary, but as a means to an end. For America to be purely objectivist
would tear the country apart, in the sense that normal social relationships would no longer exist, but
hatred and racism would become obsolete. A democratic government would be unable to succeed
because no one would look at issues from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under the standard of objectivism these values cease to exist. Not that people would be selfish, but
they would cease to be selfless, and the less fortunate of society would lack the small amount of
charity that was keeping them alive. Men have been taught that the highest virtue is not to achieve, but
to give. Yet one cannot give that which has not been created. Creation comes before distribution or
there will be nothing to distribute. The need of the creator comes before the need of any possible
beneficiary. Yet we are taught to admire the second hander who dispenses gifts he has not produced
above the man who made the gifts possible. We praise an act of charity. We shrug at an act of
achievement. (Rand 680). In an objectivist s mind there s a question of Why should I? or What s in it
for me? that would annihilate any sense of charity people possess. Objectivism is faulty in the grand
scheme of things, simply because people need one another to survive. People are forced to interact
with one another on a day to day basis, so from that perspective objectivism is simply not practical.
However, from an opposite viewpoint objectivism has many positive attributes, such as forcing people
to take responsibility for their own success or failure. In an objectivist country, programs like welfare,
disability compensation, and healthcare would not exist, so families would be responsible to take care
of themselves rather than looking to the government to solve all of

The Philosophy of Community Policing
Community policing is a philosophy. It uses organizational strategies that support the use of
partnerships and problem solving techniques to address issues of public safety.Community oriented
policing is collaboration between the community, organizations within the community, and the police
that identify and solve community problems. Police officers work with the community to help solve
problems related to crime, fear of crime, social and physical disorder, and neighborhood conditions.
They do this to enhance the safety and quality of neighborhoods. Officers spend time in these
neighborhoods getting to know the residents and business owners by talking to them about the
problems that the community is facing or individuals who are causing problems. They are responsible
for reducing crime in their beats.
There are several law enforcement agencies that have incorporated community oriented policing
programs as a part of their philosophy. The key element to community policing is crime prevention.
Memphis police department and Pasadena police department have formed partnerships with their
communities to help in reducing recidivism. Each of these agencies has several community policing
programs that they have established to improve the quality of life for their citizens. Memphis and
Pasadena have a program that is targeted for juveniles. Memphis s is a Community Outreach Program

In the movie, Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore asks the manager at a missel factory if there is
any difference between the weapons of mass destruction that they build at the factory and the weapons
used for mass destruction like in Columbine. The manager says there is no correlation between the
two, but are they really that different? Both weapons of mass destruction are the same in definition,
message, and effect/damage. There is no difference between manufactured weapon of destruction and
a school shooting. What technically makes something a weapon of mass destruction? The definition of

The Existence Of God And The Battle Between Good And Evil
The existence of God and the battle between good and evil has been a topic of much discussion for
centuries. Through the philosophical scope, there is a Problem of Evil that challenges the existence an
all powerful God if there is evil in the world. Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, was a German philosopher
who argued about the topic of the problem of evil. Leibniz argued that (1) evil is not necessary; (2)
that there is evil in the world because as humans we are restricted in our knowledge since we are
merely made in the image of God, but we are not God and thus we are exposed to evil; and (3) God
didn t create evil but evil exists because of the free will of humans; all of which I believe provides a
clear solution to the problem of evil.
The problem of evil states that if evil exists in this world then there is no reasonable way that an all
powerful, benevolent God can exist, since if so, he would have made the world without evil. However,
Leibniz argues that evil is not necessary but it is a choice that we make. Evil is not absolute and is not
existent in all possible worlds since it is up to human choice. Evil is due to human free will (Bailey
105). This theory proves that evil is not something that is absolute contrary to the existence of God.
However, it is something that is chosen and acted on by human, showing, evil is not necessary or
directly connect with God. This provides a solution to the problem of evil because if evil is subject to
the choice of humans, then

Common Stereotypes Of Neanderthals
Common portrayals of Neanderthals to the public often include images that depict them as your
typical cavemen, with clubs for weapons and animal fur for clothes, and faces that resemble
chimpanzees. The stereotype that cavemen are devoid of common knowledge is often paired up with
these group of people; however, a study published this August by a team of archaeologists suggest that
the ability to procure tar and use it as a primitive form of adhesive to make complex tools, proves their

Declaration Of Sentiments Analysis
Like any major changes that happen within a society, there are usually people who have fought long
and hard, or perhaps, have held powerful positions which enabled them to facilitate change. There
were many women in history who were brave enough to speak against their religion and offer new
teachings, women who were bold enough to bear arms, women in power who used their voice to speak
against sexisism, and a woman who understood what it meant to live in two cultures and plainly prefer
one over the other. Anne Hutchinson was a puritan living in the mid 1600s and left England to lead a

Classical Vs Hellenistic Era
A period marked with much change, Hellenistic Era began with the death of Alexander the Great in
323 BC. From political structures to individual ideologies, the Hellenistic Period marked a time of
progress and prosperity for the Greeks who were at the peak of their power. When comparing the
Classical and Hellenistic Periods there are many similarities and key differences which are going to be
discussed below. Following Alexander the Great s death, the Empire was carved up between his
generals, known as the Diadochi, who were levying for land and power. This period marks the
transformation from the introverted city states of the Classical Age to an open, cosmopolitan, and
lively culture that permeated the entire eastern Mediterranean ... Show more content on

Many thought that such monumental architecture would establish their place within the history books.
This fascination with gigantism was spurred in part by the size of the cities themselves, some of which
were in the hundreds of thousands, with required the extra space in order to accommodate more
individuals. Museums and libraries, such as the famous library in Alexandria, were constructed larger
than ever before in order to store texts and relics from bygone ages. These objects helped the
Hellenistic rulers assert themselves using imperial imagery to legitimize their claims to power. The
Hellenistic period, in part, remained similar to the Classical Period in several ways which include:
militaries, the treasuries and economies, and art along with the genre New Comedy which was
formed. With the switch in periods came many other changes including the elimination of polis in
favor of kingdoms and a strong sense of the

Essay On Keynes Vs Hayek
Keynes vs Hayek The Commanding heights video takes us to the economic disaster that arose in the
aftermath of World War One. Following World War One two young economists emerged that hoped to
solve the world s economic troubles, John Meynard Keynes and Friederich Hayek. Each having a
completely different philosophy in the role of government in the economy. Keynes theorized that
heavy government influence was essential in the economy, and many of his principals were
implemented in Franklin Roosevelt s New Deal policy which helped pull America out of the Great
Depression. On the other hand Hayek insisted that the lesser of a role government played in
economics the better. He argued that socialist states cannot be successful because they lack a
functioning price system to send the signals to consumers and producers, thus inducing a chaos.
Keynes was a British economist who is credited for being the father of macroeconomics. The
foundation of Keynes theory relies on government playing a strong and fundamental role in the
economy. To be put simply Keynes theory is that the government can borrow money to spend on such
things like public works. By doing so the government would create jobs ... Show more content on

Hayek was also a British economist, however he theorized that free market was the best alternative,
and believed government should play little to no role in economic policy. Hayek believed that the idea
of central planning left no room for economic calculation. Hayek believed that the government did not
possess the ability to make rational decisions, wither to put a resource here, or buy a good there,
because there was no price system to weigh the alternatives. In summary Hayek believed that
government could make technical decisions, but not economic decisions. Less government
intervention meant for more economic freedom. In his theory when people were allowed the freedom
to choose, the economy would run more

The Repertory Dance Company Fall Dance Concert was held at the Mannoni Performing Arts Center.
The dancers involved in this dance concert are part of the University of Southern Mississippi Dance

Both students and faculty had the opportunity to present work during adjudication to be chosen to be
presented at this concert. I particularly enjoyed this concert because, while all of the dances presented

These distinction sections were noticeable because of changes in energy levels and changes in the
tempo of the music. To me this also represents the different periods we may go through in life. Our
emotions, circumstances, and relationships are constantly changing as we go throughout our lives.
Change is unfortunately inevitable. The theatrical elements such as the music, lighting, and costumes
helped add to the serious aesthetic. One recurring them I noticed was how the dancers held hands at
various points within the dance, and this represents unity and necessity of having a support system.
As I watched the dance concert I began connecting what I was seeing to what we had already seen and
discussed in class. One important connection I noticed heavily in the first half was the resemblance to
Doris Humphrey s technique which focused on the breath while dancing. I noticed this in almost all of
the dances in the first half, but especially Etched Breath by Kelly Francis. Separating the Strand was
slightly dissimilar to Martha Graham s technique because it didn t seem to utilize the contract and
release method and did not include as much of the percussive, sharp movement quality. Because of all

Influence Of Leonardo Da Vinci On Modern Art
Introduction
Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most well known and acknowledged historical figure of all times. His
genius excelled in arts, mathematics, engineering, science, philosophy and many other fields.
I have chosen the topic How did Leonardo da Vinci influence modern artists? for several reasons. First
and foremost reason is that I am fascinated by the enigma of a man we know as Leonardo da Vinci.
The mysterious workings of his brain and the works he created as a result of numerous hours of
analyzing the surrounding world amaze me. Secondly, as a contemporary artist myself, who was
greatly inspired by da Vinci s craft, I wondered if nowadays there are people who share my passion
and admiration for the man to a great extent. Lastly, I always knew that Leonardo da Vinci had had a
great impact on the modern world, but it interested me to find out to what extent exactly had he
influenced the world of modern art and if artists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many historians and art critics came to a conclusion that his works have had a tremendous impact not
only on the style of art, but also n the direction in which it has developed. By studying Da Vinci s art,
artists learn versatility and open up to a new perception on traditional techniques. Leonardo da Vinci is
a remarkable representative of the Renaissance period and, just like any other artist of his time, his
works mainly featured religious themes.
His artworks have a distinctive impact on the viewer, which makes them distinguishable among any
other artwork of the time. His paintings had had a strong influence on the artists of the future.
While some may deem Leonardo da Vinci paintings tame in their total effect on our society s modern
sensibilities, his development of techniques that immersed the viewer in the world of the painting, and
the impact of those techniques cannot be understated. 1

Value By Suffering, Setting, And Dreams In John...
Value by Suffering, Setting, and Dreams
Possessions on your back and a dream in your head. Imagine living your day to day life without a job
or a home. Going from place to place, farm to farm, just looking for your next meal. Whether you are
able to put yourself in this place or not it will always have been the lives of George and Lennie.
Lennie s troublemaking actions, and George s controlling trai Their struggles and those of people
during the Great Depression are unfortunate, but are the fuel for Of Mice and Men s value. This book
holds value historically, because of its setting and the struggles presented because of it.
John Steinbeck uses thoroughly developed characters to thicken the plot of Of Mice and Men. He uses
distinct features and qualities to differentiate one character from the next. The differences between
characters is what creates several of the conflicts in the novella. Curley s antagonistic character toward
people of large stature causes tension between himself and Lennie, instantly creating conflict. The
conflicts in the plot are what makes Of Mice and Men entertaining. Lennie is not conscious of some of
his actions. He does before he thinks. Attention is directed toward him, drawing the reader s attention
in and making them want to know how things will be taken care of. Lennie is talking to Curley s wife
about how he likes to pet soft things. She then mentions how soft her own hair is. Lennie instantly
begins to pet her hair. She wants him to stop, but Lennie gets scared and covers her mouth, and later
breaking her neck leading to death. Lennie s big fingers fell to stroking her hair. Don t you muss it up,
she said. Lennie said Oh that s nice, and he stroked harder. Oh that s nice. ... Lennie was in a panic.
His face was contorted. She screamed then, and Lennie s other hand closed over her mouth and nose
(Steinbeck 45). Whether it is a serious fight, or a silly quarrel, Lennie s actions are entertaining.
Because of this, Lennie gets into trouble with Curley. Not only was Lennie s size a problem for
Curley, but his actions at have taken him deeper into trouble. Entertainment is often fueled by conflict,
as shown in Of Mice and Men.
The Great Depression was a

Reflection About Divorce
Divorce is difficult on the children involved. When my parents finalized their divorce, it was decided
that for the majority of the summer we would stay with our mother. The divorce occurred when my
brothers and I were very young. My mother lived in a small, unremarkable town named Evart that is
north of Lansing. Our grandmother lived in the outskirts of nearby Reed City. We spent most of our
time during the summer at her cramped little trailer. The trailer she lived in was on a decently sized
plot of land. Her home was situated on a hill that leveled out quickly as the path led to the road. The
yard was expansive with hard brown grass covering a small portion with dirt covering the rest. On one
side of the trailer was a large red barn with chipped paint. On the other side was an old brown camper
that held two beds and an old television with an antenna resting on the top. There was no backyard as
the trailer was a few feet from a wooden fence that had barbed wire across the top to stop the neighbor
s horses from entering the property. The camper is where my brother and I slept while with my
grandmother. The property where my brother Sabastian and I stayed at shaped some of the ways my
personality developed. When our mother left us at my grandmother s she would take my oldest brother
Andrew with her, leaving my older brother Sabastian and I with our grandma. We were mostly
independent; we were not allowed in the house so we roamed the property playing with the dogs

Skin Cancer In Dogs Essay
Skin cancer in dogs is very common and is found in different forms. It is not always possible to see
any changes to the cancer cell, unlike in humans where we can see changes in color etc. Therefore a
biopsy is the only guaranteed way to confirm if they are benign or malignant. A biopsy is simply the
removal of a small sample of the tumor which is sent off for pathology testing. If the tumor is small
your vet may remove all of it to be used for the biopsy.
If the growth is larger, over an inch in diameter, then your vet will take a cell sample by aspiration.
This is a simple procedure where they insert a fine needle into the tumor and withdraw a small amount
of the cell for further testing.

Governmental Effects On Trade Policies
As a business owner the responsibilities are enormous and there is a ton of planning. Having a
business I will be taking into consideration an extreme chance of globalization and trade in context.
Now there will be tariffs, business and government now getting involved in my company one way or
another. All of this brings to thought why the United States saves part of the economic policies and
procedures. In this assignment I will be talking about the governmental effects on trade policies and
how they are used in different businesses. Also included will be how doing business in other countries
might influence company owners. Does NAFTA have any effect on automobile industries and the
trade agreement? Some educational information I found was that the US is 238 years old and in the
past 193 or so years the United States has had a foreign trade and global economic policy in place.
Several things have been altered over and over again since the original policy had been written. The
US focused more on how the government and businesses could improve on the domestic economy no
matter what was happening in other countries. The Great Depression and World War II along with the
country s population wanted to create less trade obstacles and manage the world s financial structure.
Free trade in the US has shown that it is progressing in the monetary welfare and creating diplomatic
interactions between other states. So, now that free trade has resulted in global trade there is

  • 2. A Brief Note On Crime And Violent Crime It may be argued that the media disproportionately exposes violent crime because is more serious, but with crime in Canada at an all time low, why is it that the media only advertises the numbers associated with violent crime to be at an all time low and not all crime. How does online news outlets cover the decrease in crime in relation to violent crime and non violent crime? The variables that will be used are online news outlets stories and articles regarding the crime drop, and the reduction in crime (violent vs non violent). The sample will consist of popular online news outlets who s articles will be looked over in order to determine what they deem important in regards to the crime drop. It is predicted that mainly only violent crime statistics are written about because it comes off as the most exciting, regardless of the fact that it is less common. It is known that crime in Canada has gone down over the last few years, and that this is or has been advertised on just about every online news outlet in Canada. This is great! However, we still see stories about crime in the news quite often, and this is not surprising. What is though, is that the crime reported on the news is typically only violent crimes, regardless of the fact that crime statistics typically indicate that only 10 percent of crime committed in Canada is actually violent. Stats Canada (2014) indicates that there are approximately 340,000 violent crime violations (eg. homicide, sexual assault, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Loss Of Chance Is An Alternative Cause Of Action Loss of chance is identified as an alternative cause of action , particularly, in cases of medical negligence. In recent cases, where actions based on causation have failed, it has succeeded. The onus lies on the plaintiff to prove negligence by the defendant and loss of a chance of a better outcome. However, a plaintiff cannot establish that the defendant s negligence probably caused their injury. The concept of loss of chance is defined as a doctrine that permits the recovery of damages upon destruction or reduction of prospects to ultimately achieve a more favorable outcome. In the case of Rufo v Hosking, the court found that In order to recover damages for the loss of a chance of a better outcome, the plaintiff is required to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Consequently, provided negligence is found, more than a one percent (1%) chance of a better outcome needs to be proven by a plaintiff in order to be awarded damages. However, the quantification of damages is related to the quantification of the loss of chance in relation to the injury. The value of the injury could be a small or a large fraction of the amount. Most recently courts have established the loss of chance doctrine as an alternative or additional cause of action in medical negligence litigation. Although loss of chance had earlier been recognised in the High Court of Australia as an suitable cause of action in non medical cases of negligence as well, in the matter of Sellars v Adelaide Petroleum NL, and had been considered but not implemented in the medical cases of Chappel v Hart, and Naxakis v Western General Hospital, it was a major factor in the New South Wales medical case of Rufo v Hosking. Subsequently, the loss of chance has been the basis of several other successful cases of negligence against doctors or health authorities in New South Wales, including Halverson v Dobler, State of New South Wales v Burton, and Tabet v Mansour. It was also successful in the matter of Gavalas v Singh. In contrast, the concept of loss of chance was rejected in the case of Gregg v Scott, and has not yet been reconsidered by the High Court. • 6. The Music And Motion Picture Industry Kanye West, a famous hip hop artist, stated in the latest episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians that the internet destroyed the music industry (2015). What did he mean by this? He meant that since the boom of technology and the immergence of the Internet, it is easy for someone to place a file on the internet and share it worldwide. File sharing, in and of itself, is not illegal. The problem or the legality of file sharing comes to play when you share or receive a file that you did not pay for yourself. The copyright laws state that it is unlawful to download or share copyrighted works such as music or movies without the expressly written consent or authorization of the copyright owner. The music and motion picture industry have taken an aggressive approach in efforts to stop illegal file sharing and piracy. When I think of files sharing, the first couple of services that comes to mind are Napster and Pirate Bay. This system, what s most interesting about it is, you re interacting with peers, you re exchanging information with a person down the street. Shawn Fanning, Napster co founder Back in 1999, a college student by the name of Shawn Fanning created a college project called Napster. Napster was a file sharing service that many people utilized to get their music. • 7. No Sympathy for Slaves in Mark Twain s Work No Sympathy to Slaves Many writers on the African American diaspora have attempted to capture the black experience in America, although some to no avail. Most Black authors like Zora Neal Hurston, Martin Delaney, and countless others have succeeded in painting the most accurate image of black people with the characters in their stories. Nevertheless, some authors fail in their portrayal of black people by using recycled economic stereotypes, highly metonymic based characters, and Fetishization. Questions often arise regarding whether or not these authors have taken a serious look into the African experience in America or simply expressing, subtly, racist views. Mark Twain is the author of two very important, however controversial, stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mark twain avails himself as a racist because of his little consideration to portray black people in an accurate manner. Moreover, Twain commits a similar fallacy regarding the construction of Tom Chambres character in Huck Finn. Even before the onset of slavery and the Trans Atlantic slave trade, Europeans have been devilishly curious, interested, fascinated, and even fearful about anything African, mainly African physical and sexual prowess. Further, some whites even went to the extremes of randomly lynching black men. These lynchings included a number of things, but largely involved the castration of Black men; white men were fearful that black men would ravish their women in light of perceived African sexual deviancy. In her book, Playing in the Dark, Morrison encourages readers to consider the concept of Fetishization. This term applies to the absolutism of humanity and savagery. It highlights the purity of white blood in light of possible poisoning and pollution by African blood. The connotation here is that everything white is pure and clean, while grotesque, dirty, deviant, and ungodly is the nature of everything African. The story of Tom Chambres from The Tragedy of Puddnhead Wilson details this fallacy committed by Twain. Essentially, Tom Chambres is the product of a sexual interaction between a half black half white slave women with a white master. His features are undeniably, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Advertisement Is A Perfect Example Of Postmodernism... The Dove Evolution advertisement is a perfect example of postmodernism advertising and complements the above discussion of hyper reality. The advertisement presents the full process in creating a billboard worthy advertisement. Firstly, the segment provides a behind the scenes look at how the model is, essentially created , and shows the audience how the original image becomes the final product, unlike modernist advertisements which just presents an already final and beautiful product. Emphasis on the use of photo shop illustrates how technology has become a tool in modern day advertising and highlights Baudrillard s (1994) view that the people of today live in an unreal and fake world. Filming and disseminating this process allows us to live without the illusions that modernity dangled before us (Hart pg 9) The background classical music that has been slightly distorted illustrates Hart s (2004) belief that Postmodernism takes what it likes from high culture (classical music) and puts it to work in popular culture (advertising) (Pg 8, Hart, 2004), further illustrating the idea that postmodernism involves removing things out of their contexts, fragmenting them...and, well, playing with them (pg 8, Hart, 2004). The final cut shows the billboard up, without showing the process of how that image came to be, reiterating Mills (1956) argument that the public would be unable to tell that it is a hyper real image. To complete the research and plan we formed a workgroup that will be chaired by Senator Carter. This working group is formed by three UNITY Roundtable members and three Student Senators. They will research best practices from other institutions and create a proposal that UNITY will vote on and present to the board of Trustees during their spring gathering. This semester was hard for students from marginalized communities, hence, most of UNITY s organizations. Starting with the hate crime targeting two Latina students on campus. Although the motives behind prohibition were reasonable, it was so corrupted from the beginning that it never could have successfully been carried out. America became a lawless period, and many Americans felt that if they could get away with ignoring one law, then they did not have to follow any others (Axelrod 239). However, it may have been necessary for the progression of America for it accomplished a great many other feats other than sobering up citizens. Women fought actively for ... Foreigners, especially Germans, were angry at the movement, feeling that they were being discriminated against for how they lived (Kyvig). Alcohol was, at first, relief from stress for men, but soon became a part of society as a whole. Alcohol was a big factor in determining your social status and offered many men and women legal jobs to support themselves and their families. It was cheaper than other drinks, such as coffee or tea, and it was safer to drink than unpasteurized milk or impure water, so it was the ideal drink, some elderly citizens needed alcohol for medical reasons (Kyvig). Nevertheless, this did not stop the ratification of the 18th amendment. When government embraced prohibition, what was taken for granted became lost. Women being submissive towards men, men holding down a secure job, and the economic boom of the Roaring Twenties all came to pass when alcohol was prohibited. Although considered by some an advantage, others saw how women used their newfound freedom as offensive. Flappers an alcohol became and almost indistinguishable couple. Although it gave women a chance to show their knowledge and class, temperance was thrown out the window (Lerner 176). Social Comparison Theory Essay Saint Blizzard III UIN: 01088937 Current Event Assignment #1 The theory that I chose for this assignment was the Social Comparison Theory which was previously talked about in chapter 4. Social Comparison Theory is how we compare ourselves to others based on our own social and personal worth. An example of Social Comparison Theory would be the use of social media and how we like to evaluate ourselves compared to other people. Social media has become an important part of our lives. At first, it was just a trend but it has become so much more than just that. • 14. On Why Are More American Teenagers Than Ever Suffering... Quan Thi Reflection Paper #2 The New York Times article revealed that there s an increasing number of teenagers suffering from severe anxiety as a result of several factors. Some of these factors include the increasing standards to succeed in this society as well as the advancement of technologies in the past decade. After reading Why Are More American Teenagers Than Ever Suffering From Severe Anxiety? by the New York Times regarding the increasing prevalence of severe anxiety among teenagers, I begin to question what have changed so much to cause this epidemic as most teenagers, especially high school and college students, have experienced anxiety or depression to some degree at some point in their lives. Anxiety is something that most people have on a daily basis and in a small amount, it s a signal that encouraged people to take action and resolve the conflict that has been bothering them. But now, many teenagers are diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder and I believed the reason for this is the increasing standards that teenagers have to face. For example, the growing requirements for getting admitted into a competitive college is a major stressor for most high school students. In addition to academic, these students need to distinguish themselves from their peers by being involved in extracurricular activities or volunteer if they want any chance to get into a competitive college. Because of this, I think many students forced themselves to be perfect in every ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Measuring The Distributional Characteristics Of L2 Input... Given the two necessary conditions for measuring the distributional characteristics of L2 input stated above, it becomes obvious that input variability differs fundamentally from the variability in a TL construction (cf. section 2.3.2). The same conclusion can be drawn from the fact that non robust input and the TL variable structure are proposed as two different, though closely related and interacting, forces of interlanguage fossilization (Han, 2013) (see section 2.3.1). For simplicity, variability in a TL construction will be referred to as construction variability in the remainder of this dissertation proposal. To recapitulate, Han s (2014) conceptualization of the variability dimension of L2 input robustness consists of the following levels: (a) one to one, or one TL form encoding one meaning; (b) one to many, namely one TL form encoding multiple meanings across multiple contexts, or (c) within the same context; and (d) many to one, or multiple TL forms encoding the same or a similar meaning (see section 1.3). Though identical in terminology and entailment on the surface, construction variability signifies (in)consistency in the form meaning function relations of the TL in the prescriptive, categorical sense, and is generally stable in distribution. Input variability denotes a TL construction s (in)consistency in the form meaning function mappings in discourse episodes that make up the primary linguistic data immediately accessible to L2 learners. Within that pull, lies the loss of an ability to focus and to connect with one another. Close friendships fade, romantic relationships dissolve, and family dynamics dim. At the root of the heartaches, lies technology whether it be cellphones, laptops, television, or tablets. In Daniel Goleman s book, Focus, he examines the the correlation and causation of technology and the effects it has on the human brain. There is no longer a need to spend several hours reading books for a research paper, to pull out the phone book to search for someone s contact information, or to spend time calling someone. For that, I am truly grateful yet, I have noticed my self being confused in every day situation when I don t have my phone with me. For example, in my hometown, I went driving alone and ended up lost without my phone. My dad, being the genius he is, made sure to equip my car with a few maps in case anything were to happen. I, being the smartphone dependent teen that I am, had no idea how to use a map. Needless to say, I spent hours driving around aimlessly until I caught sight of familiar signs. To this day, I am still unable to use a map correctly. At the end of the day, the issue of technology and the effect it has on our daily lives is prevalent and every growing in everyone s life. The Awakening follows the transformation of a simple and obedient housewife, Edna, into a self actualized, empowered woman or so it seems. In an epiphany, Edna realizes the only way for her to truly escape the oppression she feels from society and her husband, is to commit suicide. At the beginning of the novel Edna is afraid of water, at the end, it is her escape. Edna realizes that her biggest fear of overcoming society s expectations is inescapable and these expectations literally and metaphorically drown her. Edna lacks the internal motherly instincts expected of a woman, She was fond of her children in an uneven, impulsive way. Feeling secure regarding their happiness and welfare, she did not miss them except with an occasional intense longing. Their absence was a sort of relief, though she did not admit this, even to herself. It seemed to free her of a responsibility which she had blindly assumed and for which Fate had not fitted her (Chopin 18). Edna refuses to become the property of her husband even though obedience was expected, You have been a very, very foolish boy, wasting your time dreaming of impossible things when you speak of Mr. Pontellier setting me free! I am no longer one of Mr. Pontellier s possessions to dispose of or not. I give myself where I choose. If he were to say, Here, Robert, take her and be happy; she is yours, I should laugh at you both (Chopin 108). This is ironic because at this time according to Louisiana law, women were, in fact, their husband s property. Edna s husband tried to control Edna s choices and behavior. The oppression Edna feels from her marriage is symbolically represented through the parrot at the beginning of the novel. The parrot is caged, showing Edna s imprisonment in her own marriage. The parrot also shrieks and curses at Mr. Pontellier after he scolds Edna, showing what Edna wishes she had the power to do, retaliate (Chopin 1). During these past 7 months, I have gained so much love for someone I have never met before. Being 24 years old and becoming a mother has changed my views on life. Learning so much about caring for a newborn has brought on the thought of bottle feeding or breast feeding and trying to figure out which one is safer for his health. Children enter this world helpless, trying to understand their new environment and learning their new touch. Infants depend on the caring individuals around them, especially their mothers, to help them in their first few days of life to figure out the new aspect of life. It is the obligation of the parents to take care and nurture their newborn. Parents are to deliver for their children both through emotional needs as well as survival needs. One thing about caring for a newborn is needing to be fed through the means of milk. Formula bottle feeding or milk from the breast is a decision made by the mother and father over doing their research of the health of their child. As stated in Nancy E. Wright s article on the progression of breastfeeding, Aristotle said, There is a reason behind everything in nature. Certain incidences take place in nature that has effects or consequences to them. Choosing to breastfeed is a decision that new mothers make that requires sacrifice and hard work, yet has the prospective to be a very healthy food nutrient for infants. ... Science is the study of the world around us, how to understand it, and how to make it better. Technology exists because of science. Objectivism is defined as an ethical theory that moral good is objectively (based on facts rather than feelings or opinions) real or that moral precepts are objectively valid. (Webster). Demonstrated by Ayn Rand in the book, The Fountainhead, objectivism seems to most, to be morally wrong, and socially impractical, despite seeming to be a stress free way of life. In The Fountainhead, Howard Roark does not see relationships as necessary, but as a means to an end. Not that people would be selfish, but they would cease to be selfless, and the less fortunate of society would lack the small amount of charity that was keeping them alive. Men have been taught that the highest virtue is not to achieve, but to give. Yet one cannot give that which has not been created. Creation comes before distribution or there will be nothing to distribute. The need of the creator comes before the need of any possible beneficiary. Yet we are taught to admire the second hander who dispenses gifts he has not produced above the man who made the gifts possible. We praise an act of charity. We shrug at an act of achievement. (Rand 680). In an objectivist s mind there s a question of Why should I? or What s in it for me? that would annihilate any sense of charity people possess. Objectivism is faulty in the grand scheme of things, simply because people need one another to survive. People are forced to interact with one another on a day to day basis, so from that perspective objectivism is simply not practical. However, from an opposite viewpoint objectivism has many positive attributes, such as forcing people to take responsibility for their own success or failure. In an objectivist country, programs like welfare, disability compensation, and healthcare would not exist, so families would be responsible to take care of themselves rather than looking to the government to solve all of ... • 23. The Existence Of God And The Battle Between Good And Evil The existence of God and the battle between good and evil has been a topic of much discussion for centuries. Through the philosophical scope, there is a Problem of Evil that challenges the existence an all powerful God if there is evil in the world. Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, was a German philosopher who argued about the topic of the problem of evil. Leibniz argued that (1) evil is not necessary; (2) that there is evil in the world because as humans we are restricted in our knowledge since we are merely made in the image of God, but we are not God and thus we are exposed to evil; and (3) God didn t create evil but evil exists because of the free will of humans; all of which I believe provides a clear solution to the problem of evil. The problem of evil states that if evil exists in this world then there is no reasonable way that an all powerful, benevolent God can exist, since if so, he would have made the world without evil. However, Leibniz argues that evil is not necessary but it is a choice that we make. Evil is not absolute and is not existent in all possible worlds since it is up to human choice. Evil is due to human free will (Bailey 105). This theory proves that evil is not something that is absolute contrary to the existence of God. However, it is something that is chosen and acted on by human, showing, evil is not necessary or directly connect with God. This provides a solution to the problem of evil because if evil is subject to the choice of humans, then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Following World War One two young economists emerged that hoped to solve the world s economic troubles, John Meynard Keynes and Friederich Hayek. Keynes theorized that heavy government influence was essential in the economy, and many of his principals were implemented in Franklin Roosevelt s New Deal policy which helped pull America out of the Great Depression. On the other hand Hayek insisted that the lesser of a role government played in economics the better. He argued that socialist states cannot be successful because they lack a functioning price system to send the signals to consumers and producers, thus inducing a chaos. Keynes was a British economist who is credited for being the father of macroeconomics. The foundation of Keynes theory relies on government playing a strong and fundamental role in the economy. • 33. Value By Suffering, Setting, And Dreams In John... Value by Suffering, Setting, and Dreams Possessions on your back and a dream in your head. Imagine living your day to day life without a job or a home. Going from place to place, farm to farm, just looking for your next meal. Whether you are able to put yourself in this place or not it will always have been the lives of George and Lennie. Lennie s troublemaking actions, and George s controlling trai Their struggles and those of people during the Great Depression are unfortunate, but are the fuel for Of Mice and Men s value. This book holds value historically, because of its setting and the struggles presented because of it. John Steinbeck uses thoroughly developed characters to thicken the plot of Of Mice and Men. He uses distinct features and qualities to differentiate one character from the next. The differences between characters is what creates several of the conflicts in the novella. Curley s antagonistic character toward people of large stature causes tension between himself and Lennie, instantly creating conflict. The conflicts in the plot are what makes Of Mice and Men entertaining. Lennie is not conscious of some of his actions. He does before he thinks. Attention is directed toward him, drawing the reader s attention in and making them want to know how things will be taken care of. Lennie is talking to Curley s wife about how he likes to pet soft things. She then mentions how soft her own hair is. Lennie instantly begins to pet her hair. She wants him to stop, but Lennie gets scared and covers her mouth, and later breaking her neck leading to death. Lennie s big fingers fell to stroking her hair. Don t you muss it up, she said. Lennie said Oh that s nice, and he stroked harder. Oh that s nice. ... Lennie was in a panic. His face was contorted. She screamed then, and Lennie s other hand closed over her mouth and nose (Steinbeck 45). Whether it is a serious fight, or a silly quarrel, Lennie s actions are entertaining. • 34. Reflection About Divorce Divorce is difficult on the children involved. When my parents finalized their divorce, it was decided that for the majority of the summer we would stay with our mother. The divorce occurred when my brothers and I were very young. My mother lived in a small, unremarkable town named Evart that is north of Lansing. Our grandmother lived in the outskirts of nearby Reed City. We spent most of our time during the summer at her cramped little trailer. The trailer she lived in was on a decently sized plot of land. Her home was situated on a hill that leveled out quickly as the path led to the road. The yard was expansive with hard brown grass covering a small portion with dirt covering the rest. On one side of the trailer was a large red barn with chipped paint. On the other side was an old brown camper that held two beds and an old television with an antenna resting on the top. There was no backyard as the trailer was a few feet from a wooden fence that had barbed wire across the top to stop the neighbor s horses from entering the property. The camper is where my brother and I slept while with my grandmother. The property where my brother Sabastian and I stayed at shaped some of the ways my personality developed. When our mother left us at my grandmother s she would take my oldest brother Andrew with her, leaving my older brother Sabastian and I with our grandma. We were mostly independent; we were not allowed in the house so we roamed the property playing with the dogs ... • 35. Skin Cancer In Dogs Essay Skin cancer in dogs is very common and is found in different forms. It is not always possible to see any changes to the cancer cell, unlike in humans where we can see changes in color etc. Therefore a biopsy is the only guaranteed way to confirm if they are benign or malignant. A biopsy is simply the removal of a small sample of the tumor which is sent off for pathology testing. If the tumor is small your vet may remove all of it to be used for the biopsy. If the growth is larger, over an inch in diameter, then your vet will take a cell sample by aspiration. This is a simple procedure where they insert a fine needle into the tumor and withdraw a small amount of the cell for further testing. Skin Papillomas Skin papillomas on dogs are growths ... • 36. Examples Of False Identification The witness is not visible to those in the lineup. The witness is asked to identify which, if any, of the individuals committed the crime. A lineup places greater demands on the memory of the witness than does a viewing of a single suspect, and is believed to reduce the chances of a false identification. For example, assume a witness saw a man with a beard and a cap run across an alley near a crime scene. If the police show this witness one man who has a beard and a cap, the witness might make a positive identification. If they instead show the witness several men with a beard and a cap, the witness must make a more detailed identification and may not identify the same man. Having a business I will be taking into consideration an extreme chance of globalization and trade in context. Now there will be tariffs, business and government now getting involved in my company one way or another. All of this brings to thought why the United States saves part of the economic policies and procedures. In this assignment I will be talking about the governmental effects on trade policies and how they are used in different businesses. Also included will be how doing business in other countries might influence company owners. Does NAFTA have any effect on automobile industries and the trade agreement? Some educational information I found was that the US is 238 years old and in the past 193 or so years the United States has had a foreign trade and global economic policy in place. Several things have been altered over and over again since the original policy had been written. The US focused more on how the government and businesses could improve on the domestic economy no matter what was happening in other countries. The Great Depression and World War II along with the country s population wanted to create less trade obstacles and manage the world s financial structure. Free trade in the US has shown that it is progressing in the monetary welfare and creating diplomatic interactions between other states.
