It is set in a world known as Sera where humanity is getting taken over by an alien
race known as The Locust, after the humans destroy their last stronghold in an
attempt to get rid of the Locust once and for all, which fails. Now two years later the
Main Character Marcus Fenix has to go on a mission to find his father who had been
believed to have been dead for years, but he is still alive and has a cure to destroy
all the locust on the planet, so Marcus and the rest of the C.O.G (the human military
on Sera) must go and find him before they get overrun.
At the start of the cutscene the protagonists are getting overrun by the mutant
aliens known as The Lambent, and the music that plays is very dramatic as it gives a
sense of a losing battle as the humans are vastly outnumbered, with accompanied
music to show this. However one of the main characters known as Dom decides to
sacrifice himself to destroy The Lambent.
Many areas are shown as being abandoned and
aged, showing the effects of the locust taking over
and how long it has been going on, and the music
accompanying it has a very hopeless feel to it as
well.
The Genre of Gears Of War is that it is a Post-Apocalyptic Action game. The music is
very dramatic in many of the cutscenes as throughout the whole game it is
humanities last stand to defeat the locust so the music is very tense throughout the
whole game.
As Dom dies he starts to talk to his dead wife’s spirit, talking about how he never
expected it to end like this. Also after he dies Marcus starts to grieve over his death,
with the music slowing down as the scene ends.
The song Mad World plays right as Dom dies to
add extra impact to the player as the scene plays
out., at 0:16 the music quiets down as Marcus
realises what Dom is about to do and at 0:25 the
music changes to the song Mad World as he
sacrifices himself, to add impact and the emotion
his death brings.
The Musical Score is very dramatic and has a
movie like vibe with many dramatic scenes as all
the action happens.
The way Marcus talks about Dom after he dies is
very emotional which he shows little off
throughout the whole game, showing he is deeply
impacted by the loss of his friend.
