Collaboration of Libraries, Archives and Museums: A Perspective from JapanTakashi Koga
The document proposes a three-stage model for collaboration between libraries, archives, and museums (LAMs) based on the Japanese experience. The stages are: 1) a technical service stage focused on preservation and organization of resources; 2) a public service stage including reference services, exhibitions, and education; and 3) a policy and management stage defining the collaboration approach and services. Each stage builds on the last and influences the others. The model aims to address common challenges like digital preservation while respecting the unique roles of each LAM type.
