Who Is Louis Riel National Hero
Louis Riel was a national hero, especially to the Métis of Canada. He defended his people, the Métis,
and their rights by creating Le Comité National des Métis and the provisional government at Fort
Garry. He showed the Canadian government that he is not a joke with the execution of Thomas Scott.
He contributed to the creation and government placed in Manitoba with the Manitoba Act. And he also
left, coming back with a new view and to attempt a peaceful negotiation.
Louis Riel went against the Prime Minister, John A. MacDonald, to get the Métis people the rights
they deserved. He seized Fort Garry with the National Committee of Métis as their leader. He did this
to set an example and show MacDonald just what he is capable of. Riel set up a provisional
government to replace the committee with himself as the leader, after refusing to take money to join
the USA. This is where the Métis wrote their List of Rights. Which were brought to MacDonald but
promptly ignored. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of them escaped, so Riel sent more men to retrieve them. He had to make sure his people were
happy and not think of the casualties. Schultz escaped, but they did capture one Thomas Scott. Scott
insulted and attacked the guards while jailed and threatened to escape and kill Riel many times. The
people eventually were tired and scared of him so they consulted Riel. He decided to try him with the
Métis military council, used for the buffalo hunt. They tried him guilty for insubordination. He was
shot by a Métis firing squad; this caused an uprising of mixed opinions in Ontario and Quebec. This
put MacDonald in a very difficult place, giving Riel some satisfaction that he had put his opposition

Edward Gein Research Paper
Edward Theodore Gein was born on August 27th in 1906 in the city of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Even at
the beginning, it seems as though he had a troubled home life. Upon moving to a small farm outside
Plainfield, his father was always working whether it was as a carpenter and tanner, or at the farm.
When he isn t working however, he is drinking. As such, he is not around for the major family
decisions, leaving them to Ed s mother Augusta, whom was very religious. Ed s father died in 1940.
Four years later, his brother Henry died whilst battling fires. That left Ed and his mother. But sadly,
that was shortly lived as his mother died from a stroke that same year. This caused doubts for Ed. He
has considered multiple times to get transsexual surgery, but turned against it because he thought there
were better ways of turning female . For this, among other odd personality traits, he became secluded,
never talking to those in the community. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He developed a very unhealthy interest in the anatomy of the female body, looking through medical
encyclopedias and pornographic magazines. During World War 2, he was fascinated by the medical
experiments performed in the concentration camps. After all this, he still wanted to know more about
the female body. So, he went to multiple cemeteries and dug up female bodies, dissecting the body. He
would take the skin from the body and wear them as suits to dance in, use different organs to make
furniture, or would fondle the victim s genitalia, wearing the underwear that they have worn or he has
put on the body. But this isn t all, he would save specific parts for fancier days wearing the face, scalp,
or vest of the bodies torso and breasts. Gein felt that this would help him achieve contentment by
putting on a different gender and also made him feel closer to his

Battle Of Normandy Battle Analysis Essay
Battle Analysis of the Invasion of Normandy Allied forces on their roles rehearsed the Invasion of
Normandy for D Day months before the invasion ever kicked off. On April 28 1944, there were 638
U.S. soldiers and sailors killed by German torpedo boats surprised one of these landing exercises. This
initial attack triggered Gen. Eisenhower to retaliate. General Eisenhower was the supreme commander
of the Allied Expeditionary Force. He was in charge of making every operation decision that led the
fight to Normandy. The Allied Forces of millions of soldiers trained in Britain waiting for General
Eisenhower to set a date for the battle. There were nearly 2.5 million soldiers that staged in England
ready to cross the channel into German occupied France. The campaign was code named Operation
Overlord. Retrieved from (https://www.dday.org/history/d day the invasion/overview.html) Normandy

The Effects Of Yellowstone Volcanic Complex On The World
Introduction
Yellowstone volcano is one of the most explosive, active silicic volcanic fields in the world and is
classified as a super volcano . Its Late Quaternary history, in terms of ages, sizes and frequency of
eruptions, has been well documented (Farrell et al., 2014). Understanding its properties will help us to
better understand the hazards it poses, both now and in the future. As it is protected from geothermal
energy or mineral exploration and development, Yellowstone provides a unique opportunity to
research an undisturbed major volcanic system and the temporal and spatial changes that occur
naturally (Hurwitz Lowenstern, 2014).
This report discusses the history of Yellowstone volcanic complex over the past 2.1 million years,
eruptive style, compositions, associated hazards and the structure of the magma chamber. In addition,
we look at areas into which research is currently occurring or should in the future, and discuss a
strategy for monitoring and forecasting of future activity.
History
Over the past 2.1 million years, three large eruptions with widespread effects have occurred in the
Yellowstone Plateau Volcanic Field (YPVF) (Hurwitz Lowenstern, 2014). The first of these was 2.059
± 0.004 Ma (Lanphere et al., 2002), and produced the 2450 km3 Huckleberry Ridge Tuff. The second
was at 1.285 ± 0.004 Ma (Lanphere et al., 2002), producing the 280 km3 Mesa Falls Tuff and the
Henrys Fork caldera. The most recent of the three occurred 0.639 ± 0.002

Depression Symptoms And Treatment Of Depression
If you ve been treated for depression but your symptoms haven t improved, you may have treatment
resistant depression. Taking an antidepressant or going to psychological counseling (psychotherapy)
eases depression symptoms for most people. But with treatment resistant depression, standard
treatments aren t enough. They may not help much at all, or your symptoms may improve, only to
keep coming back. If your primary care doctor prescribed antidepressants and your depression
symptoms continue despite treatment, ask your doctor if he or she can recommend a medical doctor
who specializes in diagnosing and treating mental health conditions (psychiatrist). The psychiatrist
will review your medical history and may: Ask about life situations ... Show more content on

For some people, it takes even longer. Increase your dose. Because people respond to medications
differently, you may benefit from a higher dose of medication than is usually prescribed. Ask your
doctor whether this is an option for you don t change your dose on your own. Switch antidepressants.
For a number of people, the first antidepressant tried isn t effective. You may need to try several
before you find one that works for you. Add another type of antidepressant. Your doctor may prescribe
two different classes of antidepressants at the same time. That way they ll affect a wider range of brain
chemicals linked to mood. These chemicals are neurotransmitters that include dopamine, serotonin
and norepinephrine. Add a medication generally used for another condition. Your doctor may
prescribe a medication that s generally used for another mental or physical health disorder, along with
an antidepressant. This approach, known as augmentation, may include antipsychotics, mood
stabilizers (lithium or anti seizure medications), anti anxiety medications, thyroid hormone, beta
blockers, stimulants or other drugs. Consider the cytochrome P450 (CYP450) genotyping test. This
test checks for specific genes that indicate how well your body can process (metabolize) a medication.
Because of inherited (genetic) traits that cause variations in certain P450 enzymes, medications may
affect each person differently.

Aloe Vera As A Healing Agent
Aloe Vera gel has been used for centuries for many different purposes. The first recorded use of Aloe
Vera was with Egyptians, Assyrians, Mediterranean civilizations and during Biblical times. Ancient
tablets dating from hundred of years ago contains records of the use of Aloe Vera as a healing agent.
The first detailed record of its advantages were found in an Egyptian document. The plant is also
described in book called the Greek Herbal of Dioscorides (NIH).
Each culture and country use the plant for a variety of purposes. Indians use it as a medicine for
constipation, skin diseases, and infections. In countries like Trinidad and Tobago, it used to treat
hypertension and Mexicans use it to the treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. The gel ... Show more content

More than 75 active constituents have been identified in it portion, they include vitamins, minerals,
sugars, proteins, enzymes, and acids. The leaf exudate contains important laxatives like
anthraquinones and barbaloins which are accountable for its bitter taste. Barbaloin and other products
of the phenylpropanoid pathway are commonly referred to as polyphenolic compounds. These are
derived from the precursor phenolic acids, and they may act as antioxidants to inhibit free radical.
Aloe Vera also contains products of the isoprenoid pathway, including carotenoids, steroids, terpenes,
and phytosterols Isoprenoids can be regarded as sensory molecules because they contribute to the
color and fragrance of the products in which they exist (NIH).
The molecules barbaloin and isobarbaloin undergo decomposition in the large intestine to form the
active metabolites aloe emodin 9 anthrone and aloe emodin which induce laxation through multiple
mechanisms. They prevent water from leaving the intestines so we end up having more water in our
stool. This makes our stool much softer, and that what makes it a good laxative. This why the gel is
used to relieve constipation.
As mentioned earlier, the gel can also be used for wound healing and inflammations. It contains a lot
of polysaccharides that have been shown to regulate immune function and speed wound healing by
activating a pathway in the body.

Essay On Relationship Between Lord Of The Flies And The...
The politician Muhammad Ali Jinnah once said, Think 100 times before you take a decision, but once
that decision is taken, stand by it as one man. In the novels Lord of the Flies, written by William
Golding, and The Odyssey, written by Homer, this message is conveyed throughout. Furthermore, in
Lord of the Flies the main character Ralph finds himself on an unfamiliar island and later finds other
people. The story is characterized by the conflict between human natures; for example, savagery
amongst the children and the hope for rescue. During the course of the book, Ralph is plagued with
difficult decisions. Likewise, The Odyssey is about the journeys of a man named Odysseus who has to
make numerous tough decisions on his voyage back home. In correlation to the eloquent dialogue of
Muhammad Ali Jinnah, when making decisions, one must be thoughtful before undergoing the task.
First, when making decisions, one must always acknowledge his opponents. One should especially
consider the enemy s strengths and weaknesses. For example, after contemplating the skills of the
Cyclops in the cave, Odysseus drew on all [his] wits, and ran through tactics... until a trick came and it
pleased [him] well (Fitzgerald 381). Odysseus realizes that the Cyclops would defeat him in any
physical confrontation due to his well developed brute strength; as a result, he plans to trick him
because he knows that he is intellectually superior to the Cyclops. Through his review of the Cyclops

Discontinuous Species Criticisms
Nature is very much discontinuous, but natural selection acts in a continuous manner, so the hard part
is finding out how nature is filled with these discrete and discontinuous groups called species. The
common criticism is that the inability to observe the formation of the new species means natural
selection is causing it, and the species never actually form, but as Coyne says, ...it s like saying that
because we haven t seen a single star go through its complete life cycle, stars don t evolve, or because
we haven t see a new language arise, languages don t evolve (183). Just because we aren t seeing the
new species form right away, it doesn t mean it isn t happening. As stated before, it can take a lot time
for a new species to form. The three step process for speciation to occur includes: the initial step of

Some pre zygotic isolating mechanisms include: temporal, ecological, behavioral, and mechanical.
Temporal isolating mechanisms include the time at which species mate during the year can affect the
possibility of two species mating together. Ecological isolating mechanisms include the habitat in
which the species is living in. Behavioral isolating mechanisms include the mating behaviors of
species and how they are able to find mate. An example includes male birds having specific songs
they sing to find females. Mechanical isolating mechanisms include the way in which a species will
mate, including the genitalia. Post zygotic isolating mechanisms include: hybrid inviability, hybrid
infertility, and hybrid breakdown. Hybrid inviability happens when the hybrid is produced but cannot
develop and eventually dies. Hybrid infertility occurs when the hybrid develops, but is unable to
reproduce because it is sterile. Hybrid breakdown occurs when the hybrids in the first generation are
able to reproduce but the hybrids in the second generation are unable to develop and

The Successes and Failures of the Zapatista Movement Essay
The Successes and Failures of the Zapatista Movement
On January 1, 2004, over one thousand people in the mountain hamlet of Oventic, Chiapas, celebrated
the 10th anniversary of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) rebellion with song and
dance. Thus, it seems a fitting time to take stock of the successes and failures of the Zapatista
movement in the context of its original goals. While the EZLN has been able to establish thirty eight
autonomous indigenous communities in Chiapas, it has failed to weaken the Mexican government s
commitment to neo liberal economic policies. In the following pages, we will explore those factors
which enabled the Zapatistas to establish regions of autonomy and extrapolate from Theotonio Dos ...

refusal to take money from the mal gobierno (bad government).? In addition, the Zapatistas have
created five organizational centers (caracoles) and established Juntas of Good Government in each of
them in order to ?resolve conflicts and disequilibrium between the centers and the outlying
autonomies.? The caracoles mark the EZLN?s first success with regional, as opposed to municipal,
autonomy. These Zapatista achievements can be attributed to the local terrain of Chiapas, restrictive
legislation, and local and national scrutiny.
The Mexican government has faced legal and practical restraints on launching an all out war on the
Zapatistas. The first government counter attacks encountered tactical difficulties in the jungles of
Chiapas and the army failed to score a quick military victory. In 1995, the federal congress passed a ?
law for dialogue,? which foreclosed the option of a unilateral show of force by the Mexican army in
areas under Zapatista control. This legislation catalyzed the signing of the San Andrés Accords by the
EZLN and the Zedillo government. The San Andrés Accords, as well as the inaccessibility of the
jungles of Chiapas, made overt military action politically and tactically unviable. The EZLN?s
national popularity and visibility also guaranteed its survival. Though the Mexican government

Hunger And Hunger Of Hunger
You ask me what is hunger? Listen to me. Here I am so famished that you could see every little detail
of my bones. I don t even have the energy to talk, or even walk because my last meal was four days
ago. Hear me out. This is not a joke, nor a pleasant position to be in. There are approximately 920
million people in the world who yearn for a meal each day, and every three point six seconds someone
dies from hunger. Yet, when you think of hunger, you say to yourself, Oh yes, I ve been hungry before,
I ve missed breakfast, then my stomach starts to growl, big deal. No, you have it wrong. Put yourself

bag. The dumpster was my breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday. It was the reason why I m still alive.
Hunger is stealing from a supermarket. This was the vile side of hunger, but it was either the family

shoulder cautiously, I tear the barcode label and stuff two packs of chicken legs in my jacket. I knew it

exit. I slip pass the exit not trying to look suspicious. A cloud of shame and guilt rose around me as I

Food costed money, something we didn t have.
Hunger is opening the refrigerator to see only expired milk from last month, an old leftover sandwich,

school.

The Relationship Between Personality And Sports And Exercise
Considerable amounts of research have been carried out on the relationship between personality and
sport and exercise. A psychologist known as Eysenck introduced the Personality Theory in which he
believed personality traits to have a biological basis (Eysenck, H.J 1987). In addition, he also believed
personality could be influenced by external factors such as the environment. Eysenck has indicated
that there are, at least, three major dimensions of personality variation in the general human
population, in which people fall somewhere in between. (Eysenck 1979, 1982; Lynn and Martin
1995). He identified these three main traits as Extroversion introversion (E), Neuroticism stability (N)
and finally Psychoticism superego (P). It has been argued that personality type and individual
differences influence ones view and approach to, sport and exercise. (Eysenck 1979, 1982; Lynn and
Martin 1995). There are many advantages and disadvantages of the different levels of these three main
traits in different sporting activities. In Eysenck s personality theory, extroversion is described through
characteristics such as outgoing, sociable, optimistic and active. In comparison to this, introverts tend
to be shy, reserved individuals who are typically careful and unsociable. (Gorczynski, 2014).
According to Eysenck (Eysenck and Eysenck 1985) individual differences in extraversion are based
upon variations in cortical arousal (the speed and amount of the brain s activity), which has been

The Factors Of The Great Fog Of 1952
THE GREAT SMOG OF 1952
I. FACTS OF THE GREAT SMOG OF 1952
A thick fog engulfed London from December 5 to December 9, 1952. It mixed with black smoke
emitted from homes and factories to create a deadly smog. This smog killed approximately 12,000
people and was the catalyst for the introduction of environmental laws.
Smog was a regular occurrence in London, but the smog that formed from Friday 5 December to
Tuesday 9 December 1952 was different. On 5 December during the day, the fog was not particularly
dense. However, during the night it thickened greatly resulting in very low visibility. On the 6th
December, there was not sufficient sunlight to clear the fog. The fog proceeded to intensify its
thickness over the next few days. The fog became ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem comes about because both the polluter and the victim think they are justified in their
opinions and actions. As a result of this impasse, the market doesn t find a solution because no one has
the property rights to something like air or noise pollution. The role of the legal system in the Coase
Theorem is to simply decide who gets the property rights. Because bargaining is assumed to be free, it
doesn t matter who gets the property rights. If they are assigned to either the polluter or the victim, the
market will always find an efficient outcome.
IV. APPLYING COASE THEOREM TO THE GREAT SMOG OF 1952
There is a negative externality because the smog clearly causes external damage that is inflicted upon
the general public of London. The factories are not bearing the entire cost of producing their goods
because they are not paying for proper waste disposal. Factories were emitting harmful pollutants into
the atmosphere which has a negative social cost because it was making people ill and causing deaths.
The pollution (smog) is an externality, as the pollution from the factories imposed a cost on people
who may have been neither consumers nor producers of these items. This is a legitimate externality
because the property rights of air are not assigned to anyone. It would be efficient to allow the
factories to pollute if the value of operating the factory was greater than the pollution cost imposed on
the general public in

A Case for Medicare Covering ESRD

they may encounter in life, but certainly not everyone has such funds. When people are diagnosed
with end stage renal disease (ESRD), the health provider sadly notifies them that they will not be able
to perform most of the things that they were used to doing. ESRD patients must adjust to complete
change of life styles due to deteriorating health, treatment timing, and transportation from home to

The Injuries Of The Knee Joint
The knee joint is one of many synovial joints within the human body. It is the largest joint in the body
and is known as a ginglymus, or hinge, joint involving the articulation of the femur and the tibia. A
hinge joint is a joint between two or more articulating bones, moving in only one plane. The
movements that occur at the knee are flexion and extension. The knee joint is a modified hinge joint,
therefore as well as allowing the movements of flexion and extension; the movements of internal
rotation and external rotation are possible. The knee joint has six degrees of freedom, moving in all
three planes: the frontal plane, the sagittal plane and the transverse plane. Internal rotation and
external rotation of the knee move about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ligaments are connective tissues with the function of joining articulating bones at joints, in this case,
the femur and tibia. Fibroblasts are the cells that make up the ligaments, which are made up of
between 70% and 80% collagen. The high level of collagen gives the ligament tissue high tensile
strength. The flexibility of the ligaments comes from the elastin fibers that are in the extracellular
matrix, which counters the solid nature of the bone (Prater A.M., 2010). The ligaments of the knee
assist in controlling the movements that occur at the joint.
The collateral ligaments are positioned on each side of the joint (the medial collateral ligament on the
medial side and the lateral collateral ligament on the lateral side).
The cruciate ligaments are found deep within the knee joint. The anterior cruciate ligament attaches to
the medial and anterior aspect of the tibial plateau and on the lateral femoral condyle. The posterior
cruciate ligament attaches to the posterior aspect of the tibial plateau and the medial femoral condyle
(Johns Hopkins Sports Medicine). The names of the cruciate ligaments arise from their nature of
crossing over each other between each of their attachments and from the position of their tibial
attachments. (Palastanga Soames, 2012).
The interaction of the ACL and PCL at varying degrees of flexion accounts for some of the dynamic
stability of the knee joint (Chhabra et al. C.

Allegory In Fahrenheit 451
Research Paper Rough Draft
Fahrenheit 451 is one of the most celebrated and adored books of the 21st century. Ray Bradbury
creates a futuristic world that is meant to make the reader examine their own world more closely. This
book is an allegory about the dangers of societal censorship and technology. The author uses
symbolism and imagery to enhance the allegory s hidden meaning. This allegory touches on issues so
poignant that they are still as relevant today as they were in their own time. An allegory is a story that
can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning. This narrative strategy is used commonly by authors
today but has been around for centuries. It is a useful technique to persuade the reader to think outside
the box. The reader must see the story itself and also it s hidden intent. In other words, the story is
both figurative and literal silmultaneously. Fahrenheit 451 is a perfect example of this technique.
Literally, montag is a book burning fireman who faces a crisis of faith that will change his life.
Figuratively, montage represents each of us in a society where technology and government have taken
over large aspects of our lives. Ray Bradbury was an American author and screenwriter who has
worked with many genres. He is most well known for Fahrenheit 451. He developed concerns about
the vulnerability of books from a young age. He did not appreciate that some books were not deemed
literary enough for his public library. He was also greatly angered by

Summary Of One Night Two Proms
One night, Two Proms. In the town of Charleston, Mississippi they lived in the past of what we tried
to leave behind. The high schools in Charleston had 2 segregated Proms, so one for only whites and
the other for whites or african americans, but only african americans showed up. After some
arranging, the high school was able to finally have an integrated senior prom in 2008. This
documentary affected me in both a positive and negative way. During the documentary, I was in
disbelief that things like this still are happening around the world, let alone the United States. My faith
in how good and the equality humanity decreased immensely after watching this movie. I was aware
the there were still some racists on the planet but I always assumed

The Code Of Life And The Human Genome
As was said in the beginning of the video, the ultimate achievement that one can make scientifically is
to look at our own human genome, or instruction book if you will, and try to figure out what it is
telling us, what it reads. This began happening in the late 1990s, to 2000s, when people began diving
deeper into what DNA really tells us. In a sense, we have found the key to unlock, or crack, the code
of life, and this is also the key to diagnosing and curing genetically transmitted diseases. This key is
what the Human Genome Project searched to find, and what Cracking the Code of Life is all about. A
single message, which we call DNA, has been passed down from the very first microscopic organism
all the way to us today. It travels in a continuous thread that flows through all living things, and is the
secret of all life. This message within all of us is made up of four nitrogen bases, Guanine (G),
Thymine (T), Cytosine (C), and Adenine (A), which are connected in a double helix, which looks like
a twisted ladder. These bases come in pairs, as G connects with C, and A with T, and the order of these
base pairs is what creates the variance we see in every organism today. There are approximately 3
billion base pairs in the human genome, but only about 30,000 are actually our genes. However, one
wrong letter out of 3 billion can cause extreme various in humans To put this into perspective, every
human body is 99.9% identical in its genetic code. That means that .01% of

The Musical And Cultural Context Of Bollywood Music
The Musical and Cultural Context of Bollywood Music In my interview with Sumanyu Gupta, we
discussed the many facets of Indian Bollywood music. We discussed several of these aspects at length
including the unique storytelling structure of Bollywood songs, the deep meaning and role of
Bollywood as an emotional escape for Indian people, as well as the growing amount of western
influence heard in Bollywood music. I will begin my paper by briefly discussing some key
instruments and integral concepts utilized in Bollywood, followed by the cultural significance of
Bollywood, including Sumanyu s personal account. From there, I will dig deeper into the changes
being made due to westernization. From Bollywood s onset in ______, it has included several key
components (_____). For example, Bollywood music is set up as its own story. Sumanyu explained it
similar to as if it had its own beginning middle and end with its own climax and falling actions. More
often than not, Bollywood music is connected to some film, with its own plot line and story. Because
of this distinct story within a story aspect, as Sumanyu describes it, most songs are able to stand on
their own, yet still maintain a powerful and meaningful message. Additionally, there are several
instruments that are often heard in Bollywood music. I was told that the tabla, hollow drums that
produce a very deep, echoing noise; tambura, something similar to an elongated guitar, and bansuri, a
flute, are often

Brunswick High. Emergency Procedures
Brunswick High
Emergency Procedures are located in the Policies and Procedures section. They are divided into 4
sections: Fire Safety Guidelines, Emergency Drills, Response to a Violent Incident (can be a student
disruption), and a crisis policy. The fire safety guidelines were more about the type of equipment that
could be used in the classroom, while emergency drills were broken into fire drills and tornado drills.
Similarities and Differences
The similarities between Goodyear Elementary and Brunswick High were the fact that:
Both had a section in the handbook for emergency procedures that included fire drills, tornadoes,
procedures for death, suicide, and major student disruptions/response to violent incidents, and crisis
information
Copies of the Glynn County Emergency Procedure and exit routes are posted in the classrooms, and
Emergency procedures are explained on the first day of school.
While the elementary school provided a short description of their emergency procedures, it stated that
more information could be found in the Crisis Management Plan (also included in the Staff
Handbook). What s strange is that although a crisis management plan has been created, fire drills were
not better described nor mentioned all; not even the sound signal to look for. In the event of a fire,
younger students usually need more attention to care and calm down. Therefore, it would have been
helpful to cover fire procedures more thoroughly. In the high school handbook, the

The Ethics of Genetically Enhancing Children Essay
The term designer children is unnerving at first to many. The idea of parents designing the genetic
makeup of their offspring makes children seem like a commodity in a genetic free market. Thoughts
of a dystopian society like the one in the film Gattaca come to mind. However, taking an immediate
repugnant stand against genetic enhancement is not well founded. A more open minded inspection of
the issue reveals that the idea of parents improving their children s life prospects through genetic
engineering (provided it is safe) is, at its core, not unethical. In fact, some genetic enhancement in
addition to correcting deleterious genes to prevent disease is a moral obligation. It is moral to make
rational decisions using the science and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Genetic enhancement is just another form of enhancement which has the benefit of the child in mind.
There are many others: education, medical care, extra curricular activities, etc. As Goering puts it, a
parent does not blink when they give the child vitamin supplements, vaccinations, and dental
enhancements (e.g., braces) [Goering, 2]. Imposing parental treatment is a part of being human and is
ethical when the intentions are beneficent. There is no real difference in changing attributes of a child
for the better at the genome level, or once the child is born. If administering growth hormones to
young children to prevent them from being too short [Simon] is justifiable, then so is germline genetic
modification of height to produce the same result. Or, if parents are fine with the installation of braces
to straighten their child s teeth, then they should be fine with genetic manipulation instead to produce
the same outcome. The two actions are basically the same; the latter is perhaps even better as it
eliminates the discomfort of being forced to wear braces. One may object that genetic enhancement is
unethical because it is not natural and we are losing something precious by

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Narrative Criticism
In biblical study, Narrative Criticism has been developed against the evolutionary models of historical
criticism, which has been mainly focused to reenact the position and thought of the original writer and
audience through certain scientific and analysis of biblical material . This discipline is the study of a
narrative text most likely similar to any narrative literature. It is sub discipline of interpretation
method under literary criticism, which emphases on the literary form or shape of the text in its final
form as pointer of what the texts meant. There is general agreement among the various disciplines of
literary approach, that they all consider Scripture as a literary document , rather than a historical .
These various disciplines, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, when someone engaged in narrative criticism approach, he needs to pay attention the text
only. Text is mirror here, not window as historical criticism usually does. Again, it opens the readers
up to new insights in the text that we may not have seen before, or that we may have unnoticed.
B. weakness
One of the potential weaknesses for Narrative criticism is a little concern for authorial intention. It is
clear that, someone who engaged in narrative criticism approach and cannot emphasize the plot, the
character, and lose the historical background or the historical reference of the text. In addition, in
narrative criticism approach there is a high tendency to look scripture as any other literature and
fiction, because they used a methodology of the same kind.
In general, with careful managing of those negative sides mentioned in the above, narrative criticism
is a better and significant approach that does result in a renewed focus on the text, and this focus
maintains a deliberate and well built grasp on historical issues, it may have its

Meeting Increased Demand Smartly
Meeting Increased Demand Smartly
ABSTRACT
BSE Veterinary Services specializes in performing testing and providing laboratory results on the
status of bovine herds to farmer and meat industries thus eliminating potential contamination to the
food source of the general populace. Currently the company is equipped to accomplish 12,000 tests
per period and has just been requested to increase productivity by 50%. To accomplish this increased
workload and still maintain a profit margin, the management staff will need to generate solutions to
meet the growing demand.

In this particular situation, BSE has known expenses required such as materials, wages, and variable
and fixed overhead. (Walker, 2009) Using the model they can factor in how to generate ideas and/or
solutions on how to meet the increased demand. However, throughout the cycle the need to step back
and evaluate the process will need to be continually assessed. One of the biggest concerns on
implementation process will be, can they meet the demand with their current set up or will they need
to expand their operations. There are many avenues or traps that must be considered when making the
plan and finally executing. One of the first things that must be considered is can the current team
support the workload? A pitfall that could affect this is the overconfidence bias (Bauer, 2012). This
occurs when the team or management overestimates their ability to meet the mission. With a fifty
percent increase in production, if management doesn t factor in the increased hours and materials
required to perform the task, the company may fail due to lack of supplies and ultimately burning out
their workforce. The next consideration that may factor in could be the escalation of commitment
(Bauer, 2012). This trap focuses on continuing on down the road after information reveals it may not
be the best option. Case in point, at first the employees may enjoy the increase of pay and entitlements
based on the additional hours worked. However,

Essay On Deportation In The Military
Ultimately, anyone who serves in the United States military should receive automatic and
unconditional citizenship. Everyday there are hundreds of immigrants serving in every branch of the
military, but not one of them is promised citizenship. Anyone who wears our uniform, fights to defend
our constitution and is an American soldier should never be subjected to deportation. However, our
current immigration policy doesn t even allow a judge to consider a defendant s military service.
Under the Immigration and Nationality Act there is a requirement of mandatory detainment and the
removal of immigrants who have committed and been convicted of aggravated felonies. The hole in
this act that allows U.S. veterans to be deported needs to be adjusted by our lawmakers and members
of congress.

This bill expanded the variety of criminal charges and convictions that would result in the eligibility
of deportation. Under these current laws, The Department of Homeland Security is not even required
to keep track of the number of veterans being deported. There are a number of legislation efforts
taking place that are working to abolish the deportation of any service members. Democratic
Congressman Juan Vargas of San Diego has introduced a series of bills that would hold the
requirement of every branch in the military to have a naturalization office at all sites of basic training.
Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth of Illinois and Nevada Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez
Masto are also proposing legislation that would get a better handle on the tracking of our immigrant
veterans, their deportation, and allocate resources to help ensure that qualified military members in
Nevada and across the country receive the guidance and support they need on their pathway to

He defended his people, the Métis, and their rights by creating Le Comité National des Métis and the provisional government at Fort Garry. He showed the Canadian government that he is not a joke with the execution of Thomas Scott. He contributed to the creation and government placed in Manitoba with the Manitoba Act. And he also left, coming back with a new view and to attempt a peaceful negotiation. Louis Riel went against the Prime Minister, John A. MacDonald, to get the Métis people the rights they deserved. He seized Fort Garry with the National Committee of Métis as their leader. He did this to set an example and show MacDonald just what he is capable of. He decided to try him with the Métis military council, used for the buffalo hunt. They tried him guilty for insubordination. Upon moving to a small farm outside Plainfield, his father was always working whether it was as a carpenter and tanner, or at the farm. When he isn t working however, he is drinking. As such, he is not around for the major family decisions, leaving them to Ed s mother Augusta, whom was very religious. Ed s father died in 1940. Four years later, his brother Henry died whilst battling fires. That left Ed and his mother. But sadly, that was shortly lived as his mother died from a stroke that same year. So, he went to multiple cemeteries and dug up female bodies, dissecting the body. He would take the skin from the body and wear them as suits to dance in, use different organs to make furniture, or would fondle the victim s genitalia, wearing the underwear that they have worn or he has put on the body. • 5. The Effects Of Yellowstone Volcanic Complex On The World Introduction Yellowstone volcano is one of the most explosive, active silicic volcanic fields in the world and is classified as a super volcano . Its Late Quaternary history, in terms of ages, sizes and frequency of eruptions, has been well documented (Farrell et al., 2014). Understanding its properties will help us to better understand the hazards it poses, both now and in the future. As it is protected from geothermal energy or mineral exploration and development, Yellowstone provides a unique opportunity to research an undisturbed major volcanic system and the temporal and spatial changes that occur naturally (Hurwitz Lowenstern, 2014). This report discusses the history of Yellowstone volcanic complex over the past 2.1 million years, eruptive style, compositions, associated hazards and the structure of the magma chamber. In addition, we look at areas into which research is currently occurring or should in the future, and discuss a strategy for monitoring and forecasting of future activity. History Over the past 2.1 million years, three large eruptions with widespread effects have occurred in the Yellowstone Plateau Volcanic Field (YPVF) (Hurwitz Lowenstern, 2014). The first of these was 2.059 ± 0.004 Ma (Lanphere et al., 2002), and produced the 2450 km3 Huckleberry Ridge Tuff. The second was at 1.285 ± 0.004 Ma (Lanphere et al., 2002), producing the 280 km3 Mesa Falls Tuff and the Henrys Fork caldera. The most recent of the three occurred 0.639 ± 0.002 ... They prevent water from leaving the intestines so we end up having more water in our stool. This makes our stool much softer, and that what makes it a good laxative. • 8. Essay On Relationship Between Lord Of The Flies And The... The politician Muhammad Ali Jinnah once said, Think 100 times before you take a decision, but once that decision is taken, stand by it as one man. In the novels Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, and The Odyssey, written by Homer, this message is conveyed throughout. Furthermore, in Lord of the Flies the main character Ralph finds himself on an unfamiliar island and later finds other people. The story is characterized by the conflict between human natures; for example, savagery amongst the children and the hope for rescue. During the course of the book, Ralph is plagued with difficult decisions. Likewise, The Odyssey is about the journeys of a man named Odysseus who has to make numerous tough decisions on his voyage back home. In correlation to the eloquent dialogue of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, when making decisions, one must be thoughtful before undergoing the task. First, when making decisions, one must always acknowledge his opponents. One should especially consider the enemy s strengths and weaknesses. For example, after contemplating the skills of the Cyclops in the cave, Odysseus drew on all [his] wits, and ran through tactics... until a trick came and it pleased [him] well (Fitzgerald 381). Thus, it seems a fitting time to take stock of the successes and failures of the Zapatista movement in the context of its original goals. While the EZLN has been able to establish thirty eight autonomous indigenous communities in Chiapas, it has failed to weaken the Mexican government s commitment to neo liberal economic policies. The caracoles mark the EZLN?s first success with regional, as opposed to municipal, autonomy. These Zapatista achievements can be attributed to the local terrain of Chiapas, restrictive legislation, and local and national scrutiny. The Mexican government has faced legal and practical restraints on launching an all out war on the Zapatistas. The first government counter attacks encountered tactical difficulties in the jungles of Chiapas and the army failed to score a quick military victory. In 1995, the federal congress passed a ? law for dialogue,? which foreclosed the option of a unilateral show of force by the Mexican army in areas under Zapatista control. This legislation catalyzed the signing of the San Andrés Accords by the EZLN and the Zedillo government. • 14. The Relationship Between Personality And Sports And Exercise Considerable amounts of research have been carried out on the relationship between personality and sport and exercise. A psychologist known as Eysenck introduced the Personality Theory in which he believed personality traits to have a biological basis (Eysenck, H.J 1987). In addition, he also believed personality could be influenced by external factors such as the environment. Eysenck has indicated that there are, at least, three major dimensions of personality variation in the general human population, in which people fall somewhere in between. (Eysenck 1979, 1982; Lynn and Martin 1995). He identified these three main traits as Extroversion introversion (E), Neuroticism stability (N) and finally Psychoticism superego (P). It has been argued that personality type and individual differences influence ones view and approach to, sport and exercise. (Eysenck 1979, 1982; Lynn and Martin 1995). There are many advantages and disadvantages of the different levels of these three main traits in different sporting activities. In Eysenck s personality theory, extroversion is described through characteristics such as outgoing, sociable, optimistic and active. In comparison to this, introverts tend to be shy, reserved individuals who are typically careful and unsociable. (Gorczynski, 2014). Fibroblasts are the cells that make up the ligaments, which are made up of between 70% and 80% collagen. The high level of collagen gives the ligament tissue high tensile strength. The flexibility of the ligaments comes from the elastin fibers that are in the extracellular matrix, which counters the solid nature of the bone (Prater A.M., 2010). The ligaments of the knee assist in controlling the movements that occur at the joint. The collateral ligaments are positioned on each side of the joint (the medial collateral ligament on the medial side and the lateral collateral ligament on the lateral side). The cruciate ligaments are found deep within the knee joint. The anterior cruciate ligament attaches to the medial and anterior aspect of the tibial plateau and on the lateral femoral condyle. The posterior cruciate ligament attaches to the posterior aspect of the tibial plateau and the medial femoral condyle (Johns Hopkins Sports Medicine). The names of the cruciate ligaments arise from their nature of crossing over each other between each of their attachments and from the position of their tibial attachments. (Palastanga Soames, 2012). • 20. Allegory In Fahrenheit 451 Research Paper Rough Draft Fahrenheit 451 is one of the most celebrated and adored books of the 21st century. Ray Bradbury creates a futuristic world that is meant to make the reader examine their own world more closely. This book is an allegory about the dangers of societal censorship and technology. The author uses symbolism and imagery to enhance the allegory s hidden meaning. This allegory touches on issues so poignant that they are still as relevant today as they were in their own time. An allegory is a story that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning. This narrative strategy is used commonly by authors today but has been around for centuries. It is a useful technique to persuade the reader to think outside the box. The reader must see the story itself and also it s hidden intent. In other words, the story is both figurative and literal silmultaneously. Fahrenheit 451 is a perfect example of this technique. Literally, montag is a book burning fireman who faces a crisis of faith that will change his life. Figuratively, montage represents each of us in a society where technology and government have taken over large aspects of our lives. Ray Bradbury was an American author and screenwriter who has worked with many genres. He is most well known for Fahrenheit 451. He developed concerns about the vulnerability of books from a young age. He did not appreciate that some books were not deemed literary enough for his public library. He was also greatly angered by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. The Code Of Life And The Human Genome As was said in the beginning of the video, the ultimate achievement that one can make scientifically is to look at our own human genome, or instruction book if you will, and try to figure out what it is telling us, what it reads. This began happening in the late 1990s, to 2000s, when people began diving deeper into what DNA really tells us. In a sense, we have found the key to unlock, or crack, the code of life, and this is also the key to diagnosing and curing genetically transmitted diseases. This key is what the Human Genome Project searched to find, and what Cracking the Code of Life is all about. A single message, which we call DNA, has been passed down from the very first microscopic organism all the way to us today. It travels in a continuous thread that flows through all living things, and is the secret of all life. This message within all of us is made up of four nitrogen bases, Guanine (G), Thymine (T), Cytosine (C), and Adenine (A), which are connected in a double helix, which looks like a twisted ladder. These bases come in pairs, as G connects with C, and A with T, and the order of these base pairs is what creates the variance we see in every organism today. There are approximately 3 billion base pairs in the human genome, but only about 30,000 are actually our genes. However, one wrong letter out of 3 billion can cause extreme various in humans To put this into perspective, every human body is 99.9% identical in its genetic code. That means that .01% of ... The Musical And Cultural Context Of Bollywood Music The Musical and Cultural Context of Bollywood Music In my interview with Sumanyu Gupta, we discussed the many facets of Indian Bollywood music. We discussed several of these aspects at length including the unique storytelling structure of Bollywood songs, the deep meaning and role of Bollywood as an emotional escape for Indian people, as well as the growing amount of western influence heard in Bollywood music. I will begin my paper by briefly discussing some key instruments and integral concepts utilized in Bollywood, followed by the cultural significance of Bollywood, including Sumanyu s personal account. From there, I will dig deeper into the changes being made due to westernization. From Bollywood s onset in ______, it has included several key components (_____). For example, Bollywood music is set up as its own story. Sumanyu explained it similar to as if it had its own beginning middle and end with its own climax and falling actions. More often than not, Bollywood music is connected to some film, with its own plot line and story. Because of this distinct story within a story aspect, as Sumanyu describes it, most songs are able to stand on their own, yet still maintain a powerful and meaningful message. Additionally, there are several instruments that are often heard in Bollywood music. I was told that the tabla, hollow drums that produce a very deep, echoing noise; tambura, something similar to an elongated guitar, and bansuri, a flute, are often ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Brunswick High. Emergency Procedures Brunswick High Emergency Procedures are located in the Policies and Procedures section. They are divided into 4 sections: Fire Safety Guidelines, Emergency Drills, Response to a Violent Incident (can be a student disruption), and a crisis policy. The fire safety guidelines were more about the type of equipment that could be used in the classroom, while emergency drills were broken into fire drills and tornado drills. Similarities and Differences The similarities between Goodyear Elementary and Brunswick High were the fact that: Both had a section in the handbook for emergency procedures that included fire drills, tornadoes, procedures for death, suicide, and major student disruptions/response to violent incidents, and crisis information Copies of the Glynn County Emergency Procedure and exit routes are posted in the classrooms, and Emergency procedures are explained on the first day of school. While the elementary school provided a short description of their emergency procedures, it stated that more information could be found in the Crisis Management Plan (also included in the Staff Handbook). What s strange is that although a crisis management plan has been created, fire drills were not better described nor mentioned all; not even the sound signal to look for. In the event of a fire, younger students usually need more attention to care and calm down. Therefore, it would have been helpful to cover fire procedures more thoroughly. • 27. The Ethics of Genetically Enhancing Children Essay The term designer children is unnerving at first to many. The idea of parents designing the genetic makeup of their offspring makes children seem like a commodity in a genetic free market. Thoughts of a dystopian society like the one in the film Gattaca come to mind. However, taking an immediate repugnant stand against genetic enhancement is not well founded. A more open minded inspection of the issue reveals that the idea of parents improving their children s life prospects through genetic engineering (provided it is safe) is, at its core, not unethical. In fact, some genetic enhancement in addition to correcting deleterious genes to prevent disease is a moral obligation. It is moral to make rational decisions using the science and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Genetic enhancement is just another form of enhancement which has the benefit of the child in mind. There are many others: education, medical care, extra curricular activities, etc. As Goering puts it, a parent does not blink when they give the child vitamin supplements, vaccinations, and dental enhancements (e.g., braces) [Goering, 2]. Imposing parental treatment is a part of being human and is ethical when the intentions are beneficent. There is no real difference in changing attributes of a child for the better at the genome level, or once the child is born. If administering growth hormones to young children to prevent them from being too short [Simon] is justifiable, then so is germline genetic modification of height to produce the same result. Or, if parents are fine with the installation of braces to straighten their child s teeth, then they should be fine with genetic manipulation instead to produce the same outcome. The two actions are basically the same; the latter is perhaps even better as it eliminates the discomfort of being forced to wear braces. One may object that genetic enhancement is unethical because it is not natural and we are losing something precious by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is clear that, someone who engaged in narrative criticism approach and cannot emphasize the plot, the character, and lose the historical background or the historical reference of the text. However, throughout the cycle the need to step back and evaluate the process will need to be continually assessed. One of the biggest concerns on implementation process will be, can they meet the demand with their current set up or will they need to expand their operations. There are many avenues or traps that must be considered when making the plan and finally executing. One of the first things that must be considered is can the current team support the workload? A pitfall that could affect this is the overconfidence bias (Bauer, 2012). This occurs when the team or management overestimates their ability to meet the mission. With a fifty percent increase in production, if management doesn t factor in the increased hours and materials required to perform the task, the company may fail due to lack of supplies and ultimately burning out their workforce. The next consideration that may factor in could be the escalation of commitment (Bauer, 2012). This trap focuses on continuing on down the road after information reveals it may not be the best option. Case in point, at first the employees may enjoy the increase of pay and entitlements based on the additional hours worked. However, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
