Crown, Cork and Seal Case 1989
Crown, Cork and Seal Case 1989
Five Forces Analysis
Using Porter s 5 Forces Analysis argue that given likely evolution and status of the metal industry in
1989, it is profitable to acquire all or part of Continental Can:
Internal Rivalry
Strong force
5 major competitors holding 61% (American National Can, Continental can, Reynolds Metal, Crown
Cork and Seal, Ball Corporation)
Heavily compete on basis of price
Companies offering volume discounts
Industry operating margins falling fell by 7% in 3 years to 4% in 1989. Industry profitability is
therefore decreasing which increases competitor rivalry

By 1989, due to production of cans by captive plants, 25% of all can output was produced by captive
plants. By 1980 brewers had capability to supply 55% of their can needs. It is easier for brewers to do
this because they make high volume single label products. While at the same time soft drink industry
could not easily do this because they focused on low volume multiple label products.
Supplier Power
Strong force
3 largest aluminium producers supplied metal can industry (Alcoa, Alcan, Reynolds Metal)Since
aluminum was invented in 58, steel has continuously declined due to economical reasons and
consumer preference. Due to the threat of steel, firms like Alcoa limited aluminum prices which kept
suppliers from holding much bargaining power.
So few big suppliers
Threat to forward integrate Reynolds Metal supplier of aluminium entering the mkt to can makers and
is also a threat.
These aluminum producers control huge aluminum resource so that the can manufacturer cannot put
threat of backward integration. In contract, the aluminum producers are able to put threats of forward
integration, just as Reynolds Metal integrated into aluminum cans.
Moves by both suppliers and customers of can makes to integrate into can manufacturing themselves
While it is inexpensive for companies to switch from aluminum to steel (because steel is actually

Last Mile Health Research Paper
Africa is usually thought of a poor continent. A continent pitted by famine, droughts, floods, and
sickness. The last Mile Health charity is trying to help the outlook of health in Africa. They are trying
to get health care to the rural communities of West Africa, because of several reasons since health was
beginning to be worse by the years in the early 2000 s. At the end of the civil war in Liberia there were
only fifty doctors to treat the ill. If you lived in city areas you could have lived. If you lived in rural
areas you would have died needlessly, from easy to fix situations. Last Mile Health helps because they
want to achieve a vision of a healthy work for everyone, everywhere, everyday. They work with

Man vs. Self Conflicts in The Lord of the Flies by...
Though The Lord of the Flies never describes a Man vs. Self conflict, there is indeed a definite enemy
among the islanders; haplessly being themselves. Moreover, the retrenchment of the refined attitudes
of the islanders being amended into that of irrational savages is culpable for the tragedies conducted
by the islanders throughout the story. This sort of ancillary and visceral enemy that the islanders
impinge upon is thus apposite to the Man vs. Self conflict style.
To begin, there is a detectable amount of referencing to savagery throughout the story and often it is
what to blame for much of the conflicts in the book as aforementioned. For instance, the frequent and
acerbic collisions among Jack and Ralph with Piggy often describe either Ralph or Jack becoming
savage. In fact, every incident in the book adumbrates to the presence savagery at least peripherally.
For instance, the diurnal (adding wood to fire) was a custom that would most likely have led to the
boys being rescued had they not construed of the existence of a mythical Beast which never transpired
in the physical realm. This conjured beast of superstitious properties precluded an early rescue when it
was created without conferring with logic.
This misconstrued perception heaped upon another was sufficient to effect the death of Simon s very
own life.
As for Piggy s death at Roger s hands, it could be blamed by the diffident Roger s innately sadistic
behaviour that merely inured to a land that

Introduction of Indirect Taxing on Energy Drinks in France
This article discusses how France introduced an indirect tax on energy drinks at €1 per liter. The tax
was imposed to tackle alcohol consumption among France s young population and energy drinks
consumption due to its high levels of caffeine and sugar.
A form of government intervention, an indirect tax, a tax placed on consumption that is considered
indirect since households only pay then when they buy a good, affects the energy drinks market
outcomes.
Pertaining to the diagram above, previous to government intervention, the energy drinks market was
allocated purely by the forces of demand and supply1 with market equilibrium at PE (original price)
and QE (original quantity). After a tax of €1 per liter was imposed, the equilibrium quantity of energy
drinks produced and consumed decreased to Qtax, as the supply curve shifted upwards to Stax .
Furthermore, the price paid by consumers increased to Pc from PE and price received by the energy
drinks companies decreased to Pp from PE. In addition, consumer expenditure on energy drinks
decreased as well. Due to indirect tax, this changed from (d+e+f+g+h) to (b+d+f+g) since consumers
are purchasing less of the good as the price increased. The company s revenue also decreased
significantly from (d+e+f+g+h) to (f+g), as the quantity of output decreased. However, the
government received tax revenue of (b+d), increasing its budget. Indirect tax on energy drinks
ultimately results in underallocation of resources. Too little of

tremendous strength. Because the weight of these walls are so strong, in order to reduce both weight
and material almost all of the brick walls were built with inclined faces (Hamlin 33). William insisted
upon incorporating these Egyptian walls to symbolize the strength of the Hearst family and the power
their ambitions had on the community (Hamlin 34). Not only did Julia Morgan choose to incorporate
Egyptian design because of the strength it gave to the structures, but also because of the impact it had
within artwork. These works of art are considered the oldest pieces in the collection, dating back from
the New Kingdom (Hamlin 42). The New Kingdom is the period in ancient Egyptian history between

Julia Morgan received her inspiration for the designs seen in Hearst Castle from Hearst s extensive
collection of treasures found throughout the world, and from her own travels as an architect. As these
two came together, they created an eclectic and unique mix of all of these styles into one estate in
which Morgan was able to incorporate many European, African, Asian, and other architectural designs
into the different features of Hearst Castle (Gondo 54). Throughout his life, Hearst dreamed of
building a dwelling similar to those he had seen on his European tour as a boy (Coffman 12). His
dream was finally fulfilled when he saw how the finished product had impacted his family and the
community. After William Hearst s death in 1951, Hearst Castle was preserved by his family as not
only a home, but a national landmark, where people from all over the world came to witness its
splendidness. The construction of Hearst Castle is a significant period of time, in which the new idea
of combining cultures within design is put to the test. The popularity of this idea grows nationwide,
allowing an era of experimentation in architecture to provoke (The 72). Following this era, came the
arise of new forms of design, including modern and bauhaus. Not only is a new age of design abided
out of the construction of Hearst Castle, but a new generation of architects. These architects are
inspired by Julia Morgan s fearlessness, perseverance, and willingness to take risks in her career. She
portrays all these characteristics when she attempts to incorporate a variety of contrasting cultures into
a massive estate and succeeds. This ambition that William Randolph Hearst carried, with the
assistance of architect Julia Morgan and

Alone Together By Sherry Turrkle Analysis
How many people can tell they live without any technology for their daily lives? Now, people live in
the society where they cannot communicate without technology. In the modern society, a newly
invented technology gets a power to control and lead the trends. According to New York Post, Apple
reported that newly launched iPhone X, which has been sold at the price of $999, sparked a record
quarterly revenue of $88.3 billion and pushed the cost of an average iPhone to $796. That is 15%
above the average price a year earlier (Vega, 2018). Through this short two sentences, it is detected
that how people are enthusiastic about technology s development and transition. As technology has

In her essay, Turkle takes about the use of robots and technologies, and how those have been impacted
the development of human beings. Alone Together can be divided into two parts. The first half of the
book is about the development of social robots and how those robotic technologies are applied in
human life. Turkle shares the results of the research of how robotic toys, such as Furby and
Tamagotchi, affect children and adolescents. Through some examples and historical events of
technology, she explains how the robot has been developed and enhanced for people, especially
younger generation, started to think the robot not much as machine, but more as friends. The
definition of human changed throughout the decades: while human was special because they can
think, after thinking computer had been launched and disseminated, human became special because
they can feel . On the other hand, the second half of the book is all about social networks formed on
the Internet, and how human beings are exposed to the online world. Turkle explores the increasing
dependence on the online world and discusses about how human beings disentangle their lives in the
real world and the online world. She also emphasizes the communication between each other.
Increasing in using digital devices to communicate, people lose personal connections between each
other and are connected through voice; it means that people lose voice to associate with

Alaska Non Market Environment Essay
This report is in response to your request to conduct an analysis of the non market environment issues
affecting both the State of Alaska and the Alaska Native Corporations to create an awareness of the
broad range of ways by which the non market environment, especially the government policies affects
business. Specifically, this study aims to discuss:
1. The dimensions of a non market environmental issues, stages through which it moves, and the
company s response to changes across various stages;
2. The revenue structure of the State of Alaska and its significance to the current budget shortfall; and
3. What the economic impact is of Alaska Native Corporations to the state s current economy and how
it contrast to the past.
The current economy is highly dependent on the production of North Slope crude oil. It has been the
backbone of much of Alaska s economic growth, that the drop in oil price from $107.28 the same
month five years ago to $45.69 this month, coupled by the declining oil production has caused the a
deficit in the state budget and a corresponding ripple effect to the economy.

Becoming A Penologist
In today s society more and more people are being sentenced to prison. An increase in repeat convicts
has been steadily on the rise. This can strongly be contributed to mental illness, drug abuse, and most
importantly the lack of proper rehabilitation. The idea of prison reform has a strong significance to me
personally because I feel that our current system is not effective in properly rehabilitating prisoners
while they are serving their time. Nor do they effectively prepare them for their reentry back into
society. This is why I am pursuing the career of a Penologist. Penology is the study of the punishment
of crime and of prison management. I wanted to be able to advocate for the mental illness as well as
the importance of rehabilitation

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pesticides
Pesticides are the only toxic substances released intentionally into our environment to kill living
things.
A pesticide is any substance used to kill, repel, or control certain forms of plant or animal life that is
pests. Pesticides include herbicides for destroying weeds and other unwanted vegetation, insecticides
for controlling a wide variety of insects, fungicides used to prevent the growth of molds and mildew,
disinfectants for preventing the spread of bacteria, and compounds used to control mice and rats.
Because of the widespread use of agricultural chemicals in food production, people are exposed to low
levels of pesticide residues through their diets. We cannot syet have a clear understanding of the health
effects of these pesticide residues. Other evidence suggests that children are very susceptible to
adverse effects from exposure to pesticides, including neurological developmental effects.

These include organochlorine, organophosphate, carbamates, and pyrethroids, which all became
successful in controlling pests. However we should understand its prons and cons also.
Benefits
There are many positive effects of using pesticides and the environment is getting the direct or indirect
results of pesticide application.
One of the important benefit of pesticide use is the eradication of certain species which cause threats
to forest trees. Example, budworms or loopers can kill thousands of trees due to defoliation. To
overcome this, scientists have studied the Bacillus thuringiensis var. a bacterium that naturally occurs
in the environment. It will kill insects, hemlock looper, larvae, and budworms.

19th Century Political Cartoons
Originating in the 19th century, political cartoons are created and drawn as a means to deliver a
message. Whether it be about politics, events or social concerns, the artist is able to express
themselves creatively. The cartoons are not only meant to express the view of the creator, but are also
open to interpretation. Most political cartoons have a biased point of view and uses rhetoric to
persuade its audience.
Benjamin Franklin created the first known American political cartoon, Join or Die . It was originally
published in the Pennsylvania Gazette, a newspaper owned and ran by Franklin. The cartoon is a

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots were accused of deflating footballs to give them an
advantage in the January 18th AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts. Deflated
footballs are easier to grip and throw, giving their team a direct advantage over the Colts. The
Indianapolis Colts equipment manager first suspected the balls did not meet the NFL s minimum
standard right before half time and after measuring the balls he notified officials. Most all of the balls
the Patriots had were not measuring to the correct standard and they found that Tom Brady knew of
the violation and said nothing. Punishment from the NFL was a one million fine, four game

Chemical Attack In Syria
On April 4th, about 86 people were killed in a chemical attack in a town in Syria. While most people
were sleeping warplanes, suspected to be from the Syrian military, dropped bombs full of toxic
chemicals on the rebel filled town, Khan Sheikhoun. The innocent people were exposed to a chemical
nerve agent called Sarin. Sarin causes people to have difficulty breathing because it makes the lungs
heavy and causes blood to slowly fill the lungs. The Syrian President, Bashar al Assad, denies using
any chemical or toxic substance . Syria s close ally, Russia, claims that Syria attacked a terrorist group

Taji Quan Research Paper
There are various differences between taiji quan (tai chi chuan) and Japanese kendo. Taji quan is an
internal system of martial arts. It was created Chang San Feng who was a Daoist martial art expert and
acupuncturist (PowerPoint). Taji quan is a Chinese system and it s for maintaining good health. Since,
Zhang San Feng was an acupuncturist, he discovered if he would prick certain vital points in the body
he could cause death or worsen a disease (PowerPoint). His purpose was to create a system that would
be used for self defense, considering that he would have to strike certain vital points in the body to
cause somebody harm. This martial arts system uses softness an internal power to defeat a greater
force. Tai chi chuan is mostly used for exercise and to meditate because there s the concept of chi that

to use them so they do not get hit with them and it s used to protect oneself. They also go with the

long. It be used to fight and block. Tai chi chuan also uses the long pole, which is very similar to
kendo, because in kendo they also use a long pole. In kendo, they normally use a bamboo stick and it s

Examples Of Outcasts In Of Mice And Men
Some people are deemed too dangerous so they are shunned and kicked out of society. This now
makes them outcasts. In the book Wolf Children Ame and Yuki are are the outcasts. Society did not
want them because they are wolf children. In Of Mice And Men Lennie was the outcast. Society did
not want him because they thought he was not mentally stable enough to be in this world. Lennie,
Ame, and Yuki are all victims of society. This is because people just don t know enough about them to
know they can be good people.
There are a lot of things that make an outcast ,and one of the main reasons is their danger. To begin
Ame and Yuki would always howl and play. This shows the other people did not understand they were
just kids, the only difference with them is that they were half wolf. This really intimidated the rest of
society.Another thing is, people judge others harshly for the mistakes they make only because these
mistakes could affect or harm them. For example Lennie in Of Mice And Men killed Curley s wife.

wolves, even though he is one. This clearly show that he doesn t like himself because he thinks he is a
monster and people would be scared of him if they knew who he really was. Lastly, when Lennie got
kicked out of his first job because he grabbed a girls skirt. He felt very guilty and thought he was a
horrible person because he caused so much trouble. This shows he doesn t like himself and that maybe
he even wishes to be different. He s not a bad person he just makes bad

Southern Women Historiography Summary
Kyriakoudes stands against the Agrarian myth of the South, finding many rural citizens moved toward
local urban centers and a found that economically and that agriculture was insufficient to support rural
families. Dropping prices created generations of rural youths looking to escape the farm and try their
hand at survival in the city (provided they were close enough to still be within the safety net of home.
Kyriakoudes noted that more women were migrating to Nashville, if you were a woman, you were not
getting land so you went to the city and sent money back home. However, in the newly minted
capitalist economy, money equates to power, socio cultural agency, and new narratives of the Southern
experience. These women possessed a sense of autonomy and diverse experiences as expressed by a
generation earlier by African American domestic workers in Atlanta and the homogenous rural,
Southern woman. Work, Family and Faith, was edited to provide readers with an accessible
introduction to the multiplicity of lives that constructed the supposedly homogenous group of rural
Southern women . Oral histories of rural southern women blend to reveal narratives about the region
and nation that were silent in the historiography. Following in the steps of Tera Hunter, Walker and
Sharpless accentuated how vital women were to the construction of Southern history and society. They
even touched upon the experiences of rural African American women, often over looked in the

The Bet By Anton Chekhov
A short story s purpose is to introduce an idea or moral to the reader. In many cases the reader can
understand the thesis, but there will be times where the reader is uncertain. The reason for this is
because the short story s moral is profound ironically. Ultimately the reader is able to relate to him or
herself in the short story various ways. Likewise the use of irony in, The Bet by Anton Chekhov,
illustrates the characters and their opposing speculations that demonstrate the importance of human
life and confinement. Relating to the thesis of the short story, there are three main points that irony
plays a key role on. To begin with, there are the two main character s roles that guide the reader
though both perspectives of their conflicts. There are also main points in their dialect and involvement
that Chekhov used to help the reader understand the character s ironic speculations.
The characters from the short story, through the flashback of the banker, show his most successful
years and the young lawyer both in a dilemma. Eventually the dilemma came in conclusion to Fifteen?
Done! cried the banker. Gentlemen, I stake two millions! (Chekhov, Anton). This seems usual for a bet
with the lawyer and the banker. The average individual, when thinking of a banker, presume that they
are people that save money and not put it in risk of it all token away. Likewise in The Bet, within the

Introduction to the concept of Bed and Breakfast stay
Hotel s stays followed by other accommodation are essential for a traveler visit. This gave rise to a

Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation, considering different designing parameters and various
uncertainty. The project will start by a basic understanding of the circuit of the pwm Inverter, the
components used in the design and the reason for selecting such components in this circuit. After this,
tried to simulate a model circuit on any simulating software e.g. MATLAB and analyze the output
waveforms for various values of the elements used in the circuit and hence study the system response
and instabilities. key words: PV cell , SPWM. I. INTRODUCTION An inverter is basically a device
that converts electrical energy of DC form into that of AC. The Purpose of DC AC inverter is to take
DC power from a battery source and converts it to AC. For example the household inverter receives
DC supply from 12V or 24V battery and then inverter converts it to 240V AC with a desirable
frequency of 50Hz or 60Hz. These DC AC

How Is Media Inherently Bias
Media is not inherently bias, however different viewpoints, goals and opinions cause media sources to
be biased. Even though the press is supposed to be impartial and provide truthful information to the
people, emotions, and opinions cause journalists to manipulate the content the press produces. This
leads to a multitude of alternate biases. For example, some media sources are biased in the favor of
Republicans and others in the favor of Democrats. Many are also independent and have a set of views
and beliefs all their own. Media biases also vary in intensity. Some sources may attempt to seem
neutral, but possess an underlying bias to a certain side. Others, on the other hand, may thrive on
criticizing and denouncing an opposing side.

It was created to be free of external influence and free to cover all stories possible. Even though some
news is impartial, people have different biases and many media organizations attempt to appeal to that
bias through gatekeeping and agenda setting. This allows people to congregate with others with the
same views and create an atmosphere that ignores people who do not have the same biases.
Consequently, people become polarized and oblivious to the people on the opposite side of the
ideological spectrum. However, simply diversifying the sources of one s media intake may break
through the atmosphere of polarization. If one understands the opposing side s point of view, then he
or she will discover other types of bias and the reasons behind that bias. In other words, if a person
were to watch solely Democratic sources of media, then he or she will never comprehend the
Republican point of view. However, if the person chooses to watch a variety of news sources, then he
or she will learn to appreciate both sides of the political spectrum. The observer will then understand
that the media is geared towards a specific audience and all have different biases and bias

Come Visit South Africa
South Africa, which is the southernmost country on the African continent, is bordered by the Atlantic
Ocean on its west coast and by the Indian Ocean on both south and east coasts. It is renowned for its
varied geography, extreme natural beauty, and cultural diversity. All of those attributes make it a
desirable destination for travelers. Its neighbors are Namibia in the northwest, Zimbabwe and
Botswana in the north, and Mozambique and Swaziland in the northeast. The kingdom of Lesotho
forms an enclave within the southeast part of South Africa, which occupies an area nearly three times
that of California.
To give a bit of background the San people were the first settlers in South Africa; the Khoikhoi and
Bantu speaking tribes followed. The Dutch East India Company landed the first European settlers on
the Cape of Good Hope in 1652, starting a colony that by the end of the 18th century numbered only
about 15,000. Known as Boers or Afrikaners, and speaking a Dutch dialect known as Afrikaans, the
settlers as early as 1795 tried to establish an independent republic. After occupying the Cape Colony
in that year, Britain took permanent possession in 1815 at the end of the Napoleonic Wars, bringing in
5,000 settlers.
Anglicization of government and the freeing of slaves in 1833 drove about 12,000 of what were called
Afrikaners to make the great trek north and east into African tribal territory, where they established the
republics of the Transvaal and the Orange Free State. The

Job Reflection
Job a man whose name is synonymous with trials . No doubt about it, Job suffered unimaginable loss,
heartache, and anguish. In the first chapter alone, we see him lose his property, his livelihood, and
worse, all of his children. Just one of those losses alone would be a trial in of itself, but Job lost
everything in a single day!
After hearing the tragic news, we are told in Job 1:20 that he got to his feet indicating that the weight
of his loss made this godly man crumble to his knees and ripped his robe and shaved his head (the
mourning custom of his day). Then he fell to the ground and worshiped. When I read this, I notice two
very interesting details:
Job worshiped despite his grief
Job worshiped during his grief
Job, who just lost so much, was able to still worship God in defiance of his trial. Nor did he wait until
the trial was over. It is easy to worship God in the light. But in the darkness, when we can t see and
when fear and anxiety set in, worshiping God can sometimes be the furthest from our minds. Sure we
pray and ask for deliverance from the trail, but do we worship Him during the trial? Because there is a
difference.
Simply stated, prayer is communication with our Lord; while worship is honoring and adoring Him.
Prayer can sometimes be selfish because we are often asking for something, while worship is all about
the Lord. So yes, it is possible to pray without worshiping Him. Job 1:20 makes a point to tell us that
Job worshiped God. He

Personal Experience
Personal Experience 2:35 a.m. Even though it was something that I had experienced before, the pain
still took me my surprise. And it was only the beginning. I had finally fallen asleep around midnight.
My parents had come down to Indiana for a weekend visit and we had stayed up a little late enjoying
our visit with each other after the boys had gone to bed. There were two bedrooms in my little
apartment and I had given them the use of mine, deciding to sleep with my two children in the other
room. Being two weeks overdue with my third child and still working full time as a waitress, I
practically passed out when my head finally touched the pillow. That is, until a bad cramp woke me

with. They will always need their mother, just as I still need mine. Nothing in life is certain, except
that there will be both good times and bad. And how you handle the bad determines how many good
times there will be. I finally realized that I didn t need a man to make me complete, for I could do that

Essay on Ford Competition
In a present day of global warming, environmental issues, labor unions, and other impacts, the
automobile industry is in an era of instability and change. Ford Motor Company has been traditionally
considered one of the Big Three in the auto industry, but they are not adapting as well as hoped to the
changing industry, and will have to strategize to survive in a struggling industry. There are many
different risk factors for Ford and its competitors. In this paper we will look at two competitors for
Ford that are also considered to be members of the Big Three and coincidently, are not adapting to
changes in the auto industry as quickly as other competitors. These other companies are General
Motors (GM) and Daimler Chrysler. We will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ford feels that although steps have been taken to lower their health care expenses, the cost to the
company will continue to rise for the foreseeable future. Foreign car manufacturers have on average
lower health care and employee costs, giving them an advantage over Ford, GM, and Daimler
Chrysler. Ford Motor Co is hoping to take steps to offset the costs of employee benefits; however, this
could also lead to negative publicity for the company. Foreign auto makers are able to maintain lower
costs with non unionized and on average, younger employees. The next risk factor for the auto
industry is commodity and energy price increases. Steel and resin (plastic) are the two most used
commodities for auto manufacturers, and they are products in high demand for many industries.
Rising awareness of sustainability and rising demand for these products has lead to recent price
increases, and it is estimated to continue this trend. This factor targets all of the auto industry, but
again hits the big three and other auto manufacturers harder then it does some of the foreign car
manufacturers. Japanese auto makers have long been seen as efficient smaller car manufacturers,
where the big three have moved to the larger SUV type vehicle. By building smaller vehicles,
Japanese auto makers reduce their dependency and therefore their costs on steel and resin. The second
risk coming from the comparative sizes of vehicles being manufactured by the auto makers is the cost

Dana Write Up Bella Healthcare India Essay
EMSM TP19 Dana Lin Team is Ready but Say NO to Project TKO After Project Baton, was the Bella
India team fully equipped to lead a new product development project? Was Project TKO the right one
to tackle? I think Bella India team is fully equipped to lead new product development especially for
India market. However, Project TKO is not the right one to tackle. Why is the team ready for India
market? Because there is big market demand and Bella India team has all the knowledge to meet the
market requirement. For market demand, the EKG equipment market in emerging economies were
expected to have 10% growth per annum as both the need and ability to pay for better cardiac care
increase, and India is one of the fast growing markets. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means the demand is lesser but the competition is stronger. If Bella India wants to develop a new
product for a new market, I suggest they focus their investment on the product segment that is
growing and competition is smaller. Among the growing product segment, I think 6/12 channel is the
potential segment to develop because its projected growth is the biggest and by 2017, it will be almost
3 times bigger than it is now (2010). And there are only 4 main players and market share is almost
equally spread on 3 of them. This may imply that their products are similar in function and pricing.
With Bella team s innovative design of mobile connectivity which also gives their new product
advantage to compete with these 6/12 channel main market players. What s more, the TKO is planed
to incorporate a digital image and communications (DICOM) is not a right choice, either. Since this is
not critical in the near term, it s not necessary to add this feature at this time. This feature can be
developed as a wave 2 stage or an upgraded version to sell in another time when the market is able to
use and buy. More features add more cost. The challenging of the new product development is not
only time but also cost. Because there are a lot of competitors are working on similar products already,
if Bella India team wants to have first mover advantage, they have to complete production before
anyone else. And take

Caste System In Ancient Greece
The caste system in ancient India and citizenship in ancient Greece both have their strengths and
weaknesses in their effectiveness concerning social organization in society. India and Greece
developed around the same time, within a thousand years of urban revolution as ancient city based
civilizations, even so these two societies developed in entirely different ways. (Worlds, 2384) In
Ancient India it was the caste system and in ancient Greece it was citizenship, the caste system a
group of people who will together, and also marry one another, thus creating groups and then
excluding others from these two intimacies. (Worlds, 2435) While citizenship in ancient Greece, was
being a citizen in that said country, it is also means having an allegiance to the polis, the city state.

Analysis Of William Mortimer J. Adler s Article Analysis
In Mortimer J. Adler s article How to Mark a Book, he argues that you should mark up your book to
note significant information. Adler argues, through rhetorical appeals and fallacies, that as you write in
a book it becomes absorbed in your bloodstream, and allows you to fully own the book. As readers
searching for these techniques we can become immune to the fallacies by recognizing them and
thereby acknowledging the argument for what it truly is. How to Mark A Book, uses an abundance of
logos in addition to other convincing techniques to persuade you, the reader, to mark up your book.
First, for any analysis of an argument, we must find who is claiming what (Lunsford, Ruszkiewicz and
Walter 94). In this article, that person is Mortimer Jerome Adler; an American philosopher, educator
and writer. His publisher, The Saturday Review of Literature, commonly publish pieces similar to
How to Mark a Book including: A.L Rowse: A Study in Versatility, The A.L.A(American Library
Association) Convention and Education of a Commentator.
Based on the title of the publisher and their various publications, we can assume that the broad
audience of the article are people with an interest in literature itself. However, due to the vast amount
of detail and description in the article, we can quite safely derive that the narrow audience are people
directly involved in education. While the article seems promising to high school and college students,
it is not limited to

Moving Away From Home Analysis
Because of all the doctors, therapists, and other appointments it becomes imperative that you have
some kind of event planner. My wife uses a plain calendar and we write all the appointments and
which child the appointment is for. Here organization is key. When you take in foster children you are
expected to make and keep all these appointments. At other times you have those emergency visits to
the hospital or doctor s office. E.R. visits can certainly be a normal occurrence for parents in general.
Some parents have that accident prone child but with special needs children the visits can also be
fairly regular. One of our foster sons, Angel, was born addicted to drugs which resulted in all kinds of

predator or some kind of dangerous person. This man simply called the police. I was on the phone

Prohibition Pros And Cons
Prohibition Convinced that alcohol was the source of almost all crimes, Congress started what was
known across the nation as The Noble Experiment in 1919. To begin this experiment , Congress
ratified the 18th Amendment. This Amendment became known as, just simply, Prohibition. Prohibition
was a ban the government put on the production, transportation, and sale of any form of an alcoholic
beverage from 1920 to 1933. The goal of the government was to get rid of many of the problems that
came with alcohol such as crime, drunk driving, and other negative effects of alcohol. The government
believed that by banning the production and transportation of alcohol, they could curb and tame the
drinking habits of the nation. Although the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although, the alcohol consumption rates dropped during the first year by 30%, it rose 63%. In 1921
alcohol consumption fell from 0.8 gallons per capita, to just over 0.2 gallons per capita. By 1929 it
had risen up to 1.3 gallons per capita. Before prohibition, men stopped by bars to get a quick beer after
work. But when alcohol was illegal it was too much of a hassle to find a speakeasy, give a password
for entrance, and pay for an expensive beer. To avoid all of this trouble, people would drink an excess
amount of alcohol. Hard liquor became more common because it was more concentrated and cheaper
to smuggle. More concentrated liquor was also more effective. So, when people went to speakeasies,
they went to get drunk. Cigarette consumption also increased during Prohibition. Although the 18th
Amendment did not ban cigarettes, many states did. This ban seemed to make them even more
desirable. In 1930, cigarettes finally became legal everywhere and consumption almost

By 1980 brewers had capability to supply 55% of their can needs. It is easier for brewers to do this because they make high volume single label products. The last Mile Health charity is trying to help the outlook of health in Africa. They are trying to get health care to the rural communities of West Africa, because of several reasons since health was beginning to be worse by the years in the early 2000 s. At the end of the civil war in Liberia there were only fifty doctors to treat the ill. If you lived in city areas you could have lived. If you lived in rural areas you would have died needlessly, from easy to fix situations. • 6. Man vs. Self Conflicts in The Lord of the Flies by... Though The Lord of the Flies never describes a Man vs. Self conflict, there is indeed a definite enemy among the islanders; haplessly being themselves. Moreover, the retrenchment of the refined attitudes of the islanders being amended into that of irrational savages is culpable for the tragedies conducted by the islanders throughout the story. This sort of ancillary and visceral enemy that the islanders impinge upon is thus apposite to the Man vs. Self conflict style. To begin, there is a detectable amount of referencing to savagery throughout the story and often it is what to blame for much of the conflicts in the book as aforementioned. For instance, the frequent and acerbic collisions among Jack and Ralph with Piggy often describe either Ralph or Jack becoming savage. In fact, every incident in the book adumbrates to the presence savagery at least peripherally. For instance, the diurnal (adding wood to fire) was a custom that would most likely have led to the boys being rescued had they not construed of the existence of a mythical Beast which never transpired in the physical realm. This conjured beast of superstitious properties precluded an early rescue when it was created without conferring with logic. This misconstrued perception heaped upon another was sufficient to effect the death of Simon s very own life. As for Piggy s death at Roger s hands, it could be blamed by the diffident Roger s innately sadistic behaviour that merely inured to a land that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Introduction of Indirect Taxing on Energy Drinks in France This article discusses how France introduced an indirect tax on energy drinks at €1 per liter. The tax was imposed to tackle alcohol consumption among France s young population and energy drinks consumption due to its high levels of caffeine and sugar. A form of government intervention, an indirect tax, a tax placed on consumption that is considered indirect since households only pay then when they buy a good, affects the energy drinks market outcomes. Pertaining to the diagram above, previous to government intervention, the energy drinks market was allocated purely by the forces of demand and supply1 with market equilibrium at PE (original price) and QE (original quantity). After a tax of €1 per liter was imposed, the equilibrium quantity of energy drinks produced and consumed decreased to Qtax, as the supply curve shifted upwards to Stax . Furthermore, the price paid by consumers increased to Pc from PE and price received by the energy drinks companies decreased to Pp from PE. In addition, consumer expenditure on energy drinks decreased as well. Due to indirect tax, this changed from (d+e+f+g+h) to (b+d+f+g) since consumers are purchasing less of the good as the price increased. The company s revenue also decreased significantly from (d+e+f+g+h) to (f+g), as the quantity of output decreased. However, the government received tax revenue of (b+d), increasing its budget. Indirect tax on energy drinks ultimately results in underallocation of resources. Too little of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because the weight of these walls are so strong, in order to reduce both weight and material almost all of the brick walls were built with inclined faces (Hamlin 33). William insisted upon incorporating these Egyptian walls to symbolize the strength of the Hearst family and the power their ambitions had on the community (Hamlin 34). Not only did Julia Morgan choose to incorporate Egyptian design because of the strength it gave to the structures, but also because of the impact it had within artwork. Julia Morgan received her inspiration for the designs seen in Hearst Castle from Hearst s extensive collection of treasures found throughout the world, and from her own travels as an architect. As these two came together, they created an eclectic and unique mix of all of these styles into one estate in which Morgan was able to incorporate many European, African, Asian, and other architectural designs into the different features of Hearst Castle (Gondo 54). Throughout his life, Hearst dreamed of building a dwelling similar to those he had seen on his European tour as a boy (Coffman 12). His dream was finally fulfilled when he saw how the finished product had impacted his family and the community. After William Hearst s death in 1951, Hearst Castle was preserved by his family as not only a home, but a national landmark, where people from all over the world came to witness its splendidness. The construction of Hearst Castle is a significant period of time, in which the new idea of combining cultures within design is put to the test. The popularity of this idea grows nationwide, allowing an era of experimentation in architecture to provoke (The 72). Following this era, came the arise of new forms of design, including modern and bauhaus. Not only is a new age of design abided out of the construction of Hearst Castle, but a new generation of architects. These architects are inspired by Julia Morgan s fearlessness, perseverance, and willingness to take risks in her career. She portrays all these characteristics when she attempts to incorporate a variety of contrasting cultures into a massive estate and succeeds. Through some examples and historical events of technology, she explains how the robot has been developed and enhanced for people, especially younger generation, started to think the robot not much as machine, but more as friends. The definition of human changed throughout the decades: while human was special because they can think, after thinking computer had been launched and disseminated, human became special because they can feel . On the other hand, the second half of the book is all about social networks formed on the Internet, and how human beings are exposed to the online world. Turkle explores the increasing dependence on the online world and discusses about how human beings disentangle their lives in the real world and the online world. She also emphasizes the communication between each other. This can strongly be contributed to mental illness, drug abuse, and most importantly the lack of proper rehabilitation. The idea of prison reform has a strong significance to me personally because I feel that our current system is not effective in properly rehabilitating prisoners while they are serving their time. Nor do they effectively prepare them for their reentry back into society. This is why I am pursuing the career of a Penologist. In the book Wolf Children Ame and Yuki are are the outcasts. Society did not want them because they are wolf children. In Of Mice And Men Lennie was the outcast. Society did not want him because they thought he was not mentally stable enough to be in this world. Lennie, Ame, and Yuki are all victims of society. This is because people just don t know enough about them to know they can be good people. There are a lot of things that make an outcast ,and one of the main reasons is their danger. To begin Ame and Yuki would always howl and play. This shows the other people did not understand they were just kids, the only difference with them is that they were half wolf. Even though the press is supposed to be impartial and provide truthful information to the people, emotions, and opinions cause journalists to manipulate the content the press produces. This leads to a multitude of alternate biases. For example, some media sources are biased in the favor of Republicans and others in the favor of Democrats. Many are also independent and have a set of views and beliefs all their own. Media biases also vary in intensity. Some sources may attempt to seem neutral, but possess an underlying bias to a certain side. Others, on the other hand, may thrive on criticizing and denouncing an opposing side. Technically, ... Consequently, people become polarized and oblivious to the people on the opposite side of the ideological spectrum. However, simply diversifying the sources of one s media intake may break through the atmosphere of polarization. Its neighbors are Namibia in the northwest, Zimbabwe and Botswana in the north, and Mozambique and Swaziland in the northeast. The kingdom of Lesotho forms an enclave within the southeast part of South Africa, which occupies an area nearly three times that of California. To give a bit of background the San people were the first settlers in South Africa; the Khoikhoi and Bantu speaking tribes followed. The Dutch East India Company landed the first European settlers on the Cape of Good Hope in 1652, starting a colony that by the end of the 18th century numbered only about 15,000. Known as Boers or Afrikaners, and speaking a Dutch dialect known as Afrikaans, the settlers as early as 1795 tried to establish an independent republic. After occupying the Cape Colony in that year, Britain took permanent possession in 1815 at the end of the Napoleonic Wars, bringing in 5,000 settlers. In the first chapter alone, we see him lose his property, his livelihood, and worse, all of his children. Just one of those losses alone would be a trial in of itself, but Job lost everything in a single day! After hearing the tragic news, we are told in Job 1:20 that he got to his feet indicating that the weight of his loss made this godly man crumble to his knees and ripped his robe and shaved his head (the mourning custom of his day). Then he fell to the ground and worshiped. When I read this, I notice two very interesting details: Job worshiped despite his grief Job worshiped during his grief Job, who just lost so much, was able to still worship God in defiance of his trial. Nor did he wait until the trial was over. It is easy to worship God in the light. But in the darkness, when we can t see and when fear and anxiety set in, worshiping God can sometimes be the furthest from our minds. Sure we pray and ask for deliverance from the trail, but do we worship Him during the trial? Because there is a difference. Simply stated, prayer is communication with our Lord; while worship is honoring and adoring Him. Prayer can sometimes be selfish because we are often asking for something, while worship is all about the Lord. So yes, it is possible to pray without worshiping Him. Foreign car manufacturers have on average lower health care and employee costs, giving them an advantage over Ford, GM, and Daimler Chrysler. Ford Motor Co is hoping to take steps to offset the costs of employee benefits; however, this could also lead to negative publicity for the company. Foreign auto makers are able to maintain lower costs with non unionized and on average, younger employees. The next risk factor for the auto industry is commodity and energy price increases. Steel and resin (plastic) are the two most used commodities for auto manufacturers, and they are products in high demand for many industries. Rising awareness of sustainability and rising demand for these products has lead to recent price increases, and it is estimated to continue this trend.
