What is the main issue? Identify the topic words.
What are the sub-issues? Identify the micro topic words.

Read the prompt carefully and see what should you write about?
What is the main issue? Identify the topic words.
You need to read the question and pinpoint the main issue. The
main issue is often linked to a sub-issue. You need to look at this to
make sure you stay focused and don't write generally about the
topic.
What are the sub-issues? Identify the micro topic words.
The sub-issues are words that tell you more about the topic and the
areas you need to discuss. These words define the question and tell
you which particular part of the main topic the question would like
you to discuss and what the examiner is looking for.
Sometimes the given
statement is straight-
forward and it is clear
what is required.

In such cases, you must
see what is the actual
topic that you need to
address in the essay.
