The Nature of Humans in Lord of the Flies by William Golding
The nature of human: are humans born good or evil? These two opposing views on human nature are
two topics that Rousseau and Golding have both touched upon. While Golding believes that humans
are born inherently evil, Rousseau believes the opposite: that humans are inherently good. Golding
wrote the novel Lord of the Flies as a response of the novel, The Coral Island by R.M. Ballantyne
because he believed that it was far fetched. In this novel Ballantyne s main characters are able to enjoy
their time on the deserted island. My opinion on this matter leans to Rousseau s side. I believe that
people are born naturally good. Jean Jacques Rousseau was born in Geneva in 1712 and died in 1778
in France. While Golding lived through the two World Wars, Rousseau never lived through such
conflict. A topic of Rousseau s that always came up is about how humans can keep their freedom
despite their dependence on one another. He believed that there were two things that had something to
do with this topic and that was a human s material and psychological need and that the latter was more
important. Rousseau believed that humans get their sense of self due to opinion of others. Rousseau
believes that humans are inherently born good and that and that it is society s corruption that causes
humans to be evil. William Golding was born in 1911 in Cornwall, England and died in 1993. William
Golding was born only three years before the start of World War I. Golding lived through both World

Skipper Butterfly Research Paper
The Skipper Butterfly is in the family Hesperiidae. They have a wingspan of 29 to 31 millimeters,
1.14 to 1.22 inches, and are 2.5 to 6 inches, 6.604 to 15.24 centimeters, in length. This butterfly s
appearance is different than other butterflies in many ways. The antennae club is hooked backwards
like a crochet hook while the typical butterflies have club like tips to their antennae. They have
stockier bodies and larger compound eyes, and they have stronger wing muscles in the plump thorax,
resembling many moths than the other two butterfly lineages, which are Rhopalocera and
Papilionoidea. Their wings are usually smaller than their bodies and when at rest they are angled
upwards or spread out and rarely folded up completely. Their wings are more well rounded with less
sharply tipped forewings. They either have prominent hindwing tails or more angled wings. They
come in the colors of browns and grays; some are more boldly black and white. ... Show more content

Cave crickets have very large hind legs with drumstick shapes femora and equally long, thin tibiae,
and long, slender antennae. The antennae are closely apparent and next to each other on the head.
They are a brownish color and humpbacked in appearance, always wingless, and the bodies of early
instars may appear translucent. Most cave crickets favor cool/damp places like caves, rotten logs,
underneath leaves or rocks and will not reproduce indoors unless they find continuous darkness, and
moist conditions. Living in perpetual darkness, as deep in caves, may have reduced and missing eyes
and often have long slender limbs. Most of these crickets are omnivorous and will eat on most
anything organic. Most will catch and eat other smaller animals when they can. If they are in houses,
they may chew on paper products and occasionally fabric. They can grow up to 5 cm in body and 10
cm for the legs. They are found worldwide and is widespread in North America, south of Arctic

Why Are Stars Mistaken For Stars
Also known as the ¨Stellar nurseries¨ i.e. The place where stars are born. And for many centuries,
distant galaxies were often mistaken for these massive clouds. Approximately 99% of the ISM is
composed of gas, while about 75% of its mass takes the form of hydrogen and the remaining 25% as
helium. The interstellar gas consists partly of neutral atoms and molecules, as well as charged particles
(aka plasma), such as iron and electrons. The gas is extremely dilute, with an average density of about
1 atom per cubic centimeter. In contrast, Earth s atmosphere has the density of approximately 30
quintillion molecules per cubic centimeter (3.0 x 10¹⁹ per cm³) at sea level.

Can you believe that? The life cycle of an average star, or any star for that matter, is such an exciting
and mysterious thing it can t help but invoke curiosity and wonder. Generally, a star of our Sun s size
will fuse hydrogen for around 8 to 10 billion years, putting out light and heat. An average star s
surface temperature can range between 4,760 (2,900 Kelvin) and 12,140 (7,000 Kelvin) degrees
Fahrenheit, hot!

Over 10,000 of these short lived objects were made to live in the Milky Way. It´s called the ¨Planetary

Midterm The Problem Companies expect their employees to do good work efficiently. When issues
arise from within the work environment, it prevents productivity and work satisfaction amongst
employees. At the organization I am a part of it is considered a helping profession and people either do
work in the office or out in the field by providing services. However, when you need to get something
done, people do not seem to accomplish tasks at work because of the lack of support or the
distractions that occur. There are three main issues that occur in my job, surrounding the lack of
efficient communication, guidance and expectations of managers, and scheduling conflicts. Through
analyzing these issues a specific job may be created to help solve these problems that affect this work
environment. I am a behavioral therapist for children who are diagnosed with autism and related
disorders at a small firm in Anaheim, California. Most clinical work is provided by in home therapy

manager and a parent consult provided along with the therapist. Managers have a great influence in
making a better work and team environment. Supervisors and parent consultants overlap with the
therapist about once or twice a month depending on the child s need and funding. Therefore, it is
essential to have adequate communication between management for successful work outcomes. There

Supporting Children s Ict Skills
The use of ICT within early years and schools is now an essential part of provision. ICT is used to
help children with their learning and forms and area of learning in its own right. Government
initiatives actively encourage practitioners to introduce and utilise ICT in the learning experience.
Task 1:
There are many things that practitioners can use in early years settings to implement ICT into the
curriculum, for example:
Camera: this is used to take pictures or videos in which the children can create memories with. They
take pictures by using the screen to see the picture they are going to take and then they can press

· Turning on/operative some without supervision.
· Not all about computers therefore ICT away from computers.
· ICT in everyday contexts.
ICT should be used throughout the EYFS for learning and teaching through play. ICT and everyday
technology is often being not recognised enough as people think computers for technology. It is
important for all settings to give a good grounding for later stages of technology so need to start off
with simple switches, flaps, etc.Use remote control toys to teach all the stages BEFORE
programmable toys to give knowledge and understanding.
Typical educational uses of ICT might be something as simple as the introduction of a pretend mobile
telephone to encourage imaginative role play, which children from a very early age will do quite
naturally. The educational benefits of imaginative role play are well documented. A favourite
computer application with many children is Make a bug from the CD ROM Millie s Math House. This
can be integrated as part of a more general class project, for example about insects and minibeasts. But
any application introduced to children in order to develop understanding and experience of ICT should
not just be enjoyable, although this is important. It should be educationally effective too. Many
settings and some parents use language and number programs, but these have very limited educational
aims, such as practising addition or learning colours. These programs should be used on a

Sophocles Antigone s Clytemnestra
Women are far from weak from bearing children and being the backbone to a household. Clytemnestra
has suffered alone for ten years while her husband was away for war and committing adultery in the
midst of time. He left behind his loving wife and family. She left Agamemnon for another lover.
Clytemnestra did only what was right as a mother, women and a wife. Her husband kills their child
because he is summoned to by the God, Apollo, so the wind could blow and his ship would sail which
is very unjust and cruel. Clytemnestra, as a loving mother, felt it was only right to get revenge on

On the other hand, the play states that it is the father who has direct relations to child because the
father plants the seed and the mother is just there to carry it, absurd right? This thinking is very
irrational. How can you say the mother isn t directly connected to the child when the first person a
child knows is their mother? Women go through so much baring children meanwhile the men are just
there for moral, emotional and physical support and don t even know the half. Because of this thinking
Clytemnestra s son Orestes, killed her because he felt that he owed his father more loyalty than his
mother. She didn t deserve to be killed, especially by her own son, as she justified to him her purpose
for her actions and he started to reason with her. However, the people believe it was the word of God
that sent them to seek revenge and that shame was nothing, so he insisted and killed his mother. The
play also insists that Clytemnestra be punished because she cheated on her husband. Again, she didn t

3.2 Economic Analysis In 2006, due to hurricane impact, the price of refined sugar decreased from
$0.38 to $0.31 per pound (Hershey s 10 K, 2009). This allowed companies to cut retail costs and
redistribute the savings. A lot of waste material is produced, and companies spend thousands of dollars
on disposing it. However, there is a new opportunity born due to recent developments in biofuel. Since

benefits by adding a flavonoid in the chocolate that prevents various cardiovascular problems

For instance, chimpanzees that are used in famous movies like the Planet of the Apes movies will

Performing chimpanzees are taken from their mothers at a very young age. This causes tremendous

The Importance of the Sea in Chopin’s The Awakening Essay
The Importance of the Sea in Chopin s The Awakening
Unlike María Eugenia, Edna in Kate Chopin s The Awakening chooses not to fill her family s
expectations. As she takes her final steps into the sea she thinks to herself: they need not have thought
that they could possess her, body and soul (655). Edna treasures her autonomy and chooses death over
familial subjugation. However her transformational journey, alluded to by the title of the novel leads
to more than the rejection of her self sacrificing familial roles as wife and mother and her death.
We first meet Edna on her way back from a swim with Robert Lebrun, as Chopin begins to establish

She can find no happy medium between being the model wife and mother that her friend, Madame
Ratignolle represents and the independent artist that Madame Reisz represents, while pursuing her
relationship with Robert and staying true to herself.
From the beginning of the story, the reader is alerted to the fact that Edna is experiencing an inner
struggle to reconcile her relationships with Mr. Pontellier, Robert, and herself. When Edna comes back
from her swim with Robert, Mr. Pontellier criticizes her; What folly! to bathe at such an hour in such
heat! (Chopin 522). From the outset, Mr. Pontellier is opposed to the engagement with the water that
Robert and Edna share. He is neither cognizant of the fact that Edna and Robert are falling in love, nor
is he supportive of Edna s transformation.
Later on in the story after Edna has taken up painting and refuses to receive callers, Mr. Pontellier
calls up his friend, Dr. Mandelet to evaluate Edna s mental state. Mr. Pontellier s action is indicative of
the women artist s position in society at the time, what Virginia Woolf refers to as the crazy woman in
the attic. During the late 1800 s, women that pursued their lives independently were thought of as
insane. Madame Reisz represents this stereotype in the novel as the single, eccentric, piano playing,
abrasive old woman who encourages Edna to pursue her art. In contrast, Madame Ratignolle
represents the ideal woman in society, a dedicated wife and

report was published by The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that highlighted
scientific assessments, climate change related impacts, adaption and vulnerability, and measures to
mitigate climate change. The impact of global warming lead to turbulent weather conditions, such as
sudden downpours causing extensive damage, and recorded amounts of heavy precipitation. Due to
these events, it affects Toyota severely. There could be delays in Toyota s business operations; they
would have difficulties in procuring raw materials, parts and other materials for the manufacture of
Toyota products in the main markets where Toyota manufactures, distributes and sells products. All of
these climatic changes affect society at large and therefore, entire world must commit to build a low
carbon society with a lower level of carbon dioxide emissions. Toyota makes it a point to take
necessary actions to reduce further global warming as a top priority management issue, and is working
to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at all stages of the vehicle lifecycle, including development,

Nonviolent Protest
Broken windows, car alarms, smoke in the air, the frantic screams of those who are attacked by the
raids of police officers are what come with the world of violent protest. Violent protest to a variety of
people may lead to a conclusion, but not for all of them. With nonviolent protest our words are used as
our weapons. We speak with the freedom of the first amendment, the right to civil disobedience and
the satisfaction that we solved our issues in a justifiable manner. All around the globe we crave the
immediate satisfaction of emotional rebellion regardless of the impact, which is why nonviolent
protest is more effective than violent protest.

Making Movie Sequels
I know Hollywood executives cannot resist making movie sequels, especially when the first movie
made millions. In most cases, a film must make at least $50 million in order for executives to consider
making a second film. Creating a sequel is tough, mainly because of the audiences high expectations.
The films on this list were definitely disappointing, and in some cases, the movies should have never
been made.
Number One: Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013).
Main characters: Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and Christina Applegate
This film had the potential to be phenomenal. The cast alone should have been able to carry this film,
but the jokes in this movie fell flat. It almost seems impossible that Ferrell and Carell weren t funny,

Steve Carell is a spectacular actor, but he s no Jim Carrey. Carrey was extraordinary in Bruce
Almighty, and there was no way Carell could compete with his performance. The great thing about
Bruce Almighty is it was unique and exceptionally written uniqueness cannot be duplicated. Evan
Almighty lacked the comical genius that made Bruce Almighty so exceptional.
Number Three: Grease 2 (1982).
Main characters: Michelle Pfeiffer, Maxwell Caulfield, and Adrian Zmed
Again, Hollywood made another sequel without the main characters. The 1978 Grease film was a
classic movie starring Olivia Newton John, John Travolta, and Stockard Channing. I love Michelle
Pfeiffer, but she had a tough task to achieve. The first Grease movie is still considered to be one of the
best films ever made, and the odds of anyone being able to recreate the magic was slim to none.
Grease 2 was severely lacking one main ingredient the chemistry between John Travolta and Olivia
Newton John.
Number Four: The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997).

Paget s Disease
Osteitis deformans or as we all know it as Paget s disease, was first described in the year 1876 by an
English surgeon named Sir James Paget. This disease results in enlarged or deformed bones due to
excessive breakdown and formation of bone tissue (Reumatología Clínica). Since there is a
disturbance in the bone remodeling stage, the bones may look enlarged but it is brittle, softer, and
weaker which leads to fractures and deformities (MedicineNet). This disease is a chronic bone
disorder, which means that it is long term and cannot be prevented or cured by medications. Also, this
disease is mostly asymptomatic meaning it does not produce or show any symptoms, which is quite
terrifying. It is mostly detected when patients get an x ray for something else. This is most commonly

Another treatment is calcitonin as a nasal spray or injection, which is involved in bone metabolism.
Another treatment is bisphosphonates, which help control bone remodeling and resorption.
Bisphosphonates were founded in the year 1970 and is now the preferred treatment because of its
better efficacy and safety profile compared to the use of calcitonin (Mayo Clinic). Researchers say that
Paget s disease occurs in three different phases. The first phase is called the lytic stage. During this
phase, the rate of bone turnover is increased as to twenty times the normal rate. The second stage is
called the mixed phase. In this phase, the osteoblasts increase because it is trying to keep up with the
bone resorption by making new bone. As these two phases (osteoclasts and osteoblasts) repeat, a high
degree of bone turnover happens. The final phase of Paget s disease is called the sclerotic phase.
During this stage, the bone formations over rule the bone resorption causing the bone to look
abnormally larger and deformed. Even though the bone appears to look larger, the bone is weaker
because the way of laying down the bone is in a disorganized pattern making it less dense

The Importance Of Academic Success
College seems to be a constant battle for students to do well in classes and remain above water. It is as
if students are attempting to figure out what mixture of coffee, sleep, and studying makes for a perfect
college student. With so much pressure being put into getting a degree and going into professional
schools after college, it would be a helpful tool for students to know what makes an individual more
successful academically than the next. Resent research by Ackerman and Heggestad (1997) has
suggested that individual differences such as personality and motivation can be used to explain not
only variance in academic performance, but also the process by which traits influence examination
scores. Motivation is a composed of four main components including academic self efficacy,
attributions, intrinsic motivation, and achievement goals (Pintrich, 2002). O Neil, Goffin, and Gellatly
(2010) have found that when test taking motivation is high students tend to perform better on exams
increasing the rate of academic success.
However, even though personality traits have been correlated to motivation to predict academic
success motivation, there is little research on the mutual relationship between conscientiousness and
motivation in determining academic success. Therefore, in my research I will strive to understand this
unique relationship . I hypothesis hypothesize that undergraduate students who score high levels of
conscientiousness and demonstrate a high since sense of

Literature Review On Hypertension
Article Review on Hypertension
Lourdes Marasigan
San Diego City College
Introduction Hypertension or high blood pressure is one of the leading causes of cardiovascular
diseases in the United States. High blood pressure simply means that the pressure in the blood vessels
are higher than it normally is. Hypertension is called the silent killer because people are unaware they
have it. That is why it is very important to check our blood pressure on a regular basis.
Summary
The article Treating Hypertension Losing sight of the Forest for the Trees? by Professor Tamera
Pearson (Clinical Western Carolina University), focused on the different blood pressure guidelines,
and how these guidelines led to the confusion in the discussion of the diagnosis, treatment, and
management of hypertension by organizations such as the Eight Joint National Committee (JNC 8),
American Heart Association (AHA), American College of Cardiology (ACC), and American Society
of Hypertension (ASH). JNC 8 s target blood pressure is 150/90 mm Hg for people 60 to 79 years old
in order to be diagnosed with hypertension. However, AHA, ACC, and ASH recommended that a
blood pressure of 140/50 mm Hg in individuals 60 to 79 years old is the basis for treatment. These
different guidelines and individualized care for the said age bracket, the trees , put many 45 to 65
years old individuals, the forest for cardiovascular diseases because of untreated and uncontrolled

Essay about The Countdown to Humiliation Day in Canada
The Countdown to Humiliation Day
What began as a shortage in the Canadian labour market ended with one of the most revolting and
atrocious displays of prejudice and discrimination against an entire country and culture of people. The
events leading up to Humiliation Day brought forth a legalized intolerance that would leave an
inescapable bruise on Canadian history.
South Asians have long since endured the brunt of intense prejudice at the hands of Canadians and the
Canadian government. A most prevalent discrimination against the Chinese was seen in Western
Canada, mainly British Columbia. In the mid 1800s, it was the general consensus among Canadians
that South Asians could not become part of mainstream culture, nor did they belong ... Show more

They were despised and looked down upon by white Canadian workers. They were treated unfairly
and given little to no recognition for their work or contributions to the project. They were grossly
underpaid, receiving only half of the wage to that of their white counterparts and they were not in
receipt of any type of social benefits.
The Canadian Pacific Railways saw its completion in November of 1885 as the last spike was driven
in at Craigellachie, British Columbia. As domestic labourers and union confederates saw the end of
the project drawing near they began to become outraged at the outsourcing of jobs once they reckoned
that the extraneous work was over and the Chinese were no longer need. Workers rallied to have the
Chinese removed from Canada and to limit future immigration.
Provincial and federal governments were met with pressures to control and discourage the flow of the
Chinese and they responded on July 20, 1885 with the implementation of the Chinese Immigration
Act. This Act imposed a $50 head tax that each Chinese person was forced pay in order to gain entry
into Canada. Restrictions were also placed on Canadian citizens that were of Chinese descent. They
were forced to pay a fee of fifty cents to register their status with local authorities and their travel was
controlled and monitored by government officials. Small concessions were granted to a select few,

Robert Peel s Nine Principles
Sir Robert Peel is an icon in the history of policing, just as is Martin Luther King, Jr. in the Civil
Rights Movement. It is virtually impossible for one to learn police history, or study policing in general

be said for taking a political science class, and not learning the differences between the Democratic
and Republican parties. However, Sir Robert Peel is known for other contributions, or destructions, of
society s well being, depending on one s perspective. As we all are aware, the emotions and
temperaments of individuals are heightened when politics are involved. First and foremost, Peel not
only revised and organized the field of policing, he also was the blame for destroying the conservative
party in the nineteenth century (Evans, 2006). He perceived himself as an economic reformist which
lead to the creation of the Corn Laws (Evans, 2006). He had the ideology that removing and/or
reducing taxes would be in the best interest of society. Thus, he went against his party s wishes and
removed all tariffs from corn resulting in a crisis (Evans, 2006). At first, the Corn Laws protected corn

Essay On Psych Myths
There exists a prevailing myth that psychology is only a soft science. Soft science, indicating that the
practice of psychology is less rigorous, less precise, and, to some degree, less worthy than the hard
sciences chemistry, biology, physics. This study, conducted by Maureen A, McCarthy and Sue Frantz
called Challenging the Status Quo: Evidence that Introductory Psychology Can Dispel Myths ,
attempts to do just that. Their hypothesis was that when given the chance to take an introduction to
psychology course, participants would walk away with enough information to distinguish psych fact
from psych fiction. This would indeed prove how valuable of a science psychology is. In the study,
students enrolled in a community college were placed into two identical introductory psychology
courses. Over the course of the class, instructors taught a number of lessons that addressed popular
myths or stereotypes about human psychology and behavior. These included old adages such as

Essay on Mill s Principles in His Work On Liberty
Mill s Principles in His Work On Liberty
John Stuart Mill was born in London in 1806, the son of the philosopher James Mill. James Mill was a
close friend of Jeremy Bentham, the founder of utilitarianism (the theory that states that the right
course of action is the course which generates the most happiness). Bentham and James Mill educated
J. S. Mill rigorously, to such an extent that he began reading Ancient Greek at age 3. He was reading
Plato s Dialogues at age 13 in their original form. His father trained him in political economy,
philosophy, the classics and many other intellectual subject areas.

So therefore the LP must be applied to everyone in a society for it to be legitimate.
The LP has many subsections which allow it to work; to just leave people free to do as they please
does not make a society legitimate. In fact, this would horrify Mill, because he is particularly worried
about the tyranny of the majority, and in this society an irrational majority could easily exact a tyranny
upon the rational minority as there would be no safeguards or restraints. The LP is put into place to
stop this happening. Mill is interested in the restrictions that law is allowed to place on people, but he
is also interested in the moral and social pressure that can be exerted by society upon individuals. He
doesn t want people to blindly follow custom.[1]
One of the sections of the LP is the harm principle (HP). This principle states that there are two kinds
of acts that a person can do. The first kind are self regarding acts, which only affect the individual who
is doing the self regarding act, for example using drugs to get high alone in your house.[2] The other
kind are other regarding acts, which affect other people, for example shooting someone in the face. A
society is only legitimate when it restricts other regarding acts, and doesn t touch self regarding acts,
as these acts are part of the private sphere. There are problems with this however. As mentioned in the

Coney Island and The Death of a Victorian America
The turn of the nineteenth century brought with it a social and moral revolution that personified itself
through the nations amusement parks. Standing along the banks of Brooklyn, Coney Island served as a
major hub of culture, a breeding ground of refined morality, and a direct challenge to social norms as
America rushed head first into a cultural revolution that thrived on challenging the typical Victorian
ideals of American everyday life. The introduction of amusement parks such as Coney Island flooded
the country with a new depraved craving for amusement and refined the social perspective on
entertainment. Coney island challenged the ideals of America s Victorian societal perspective in many
ways through the complete reform of perspective on gender roles as well as encouraged along the
newly industrialized nations perspective on entertainment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Urban class workers found themselves with more down time and indulged themselves into the

trickle out into society. John F Kasson writes By the turn of the century the managers of mass culture
sensed new markets both within the urban middle class and spilling beyond its borders to high society
and the largely untapped working class, all eager to respond to amusement in a less earnest cultural
mood: more vigorous, exuberant, daring, sensual, uninhibited, and irreverent (Kasson 6). This attitude
reformed societies view of the Victorian ideals by loosening up its moral restrictions, allowing more
room for exploration of moral values and eventually creating a more relaxed perspective on many

Climate Change Cause And Effect Essay
Science Essay 2: The Causes and Effects of Climate Change The Earth is the only home of life that
humans know of in the universe thus far. Humans have lived on the Earth for an extended period of
time now, and yet the human race does not fully understand what occurs on the Earth. A phenomenon
which went unnoticed and misunderstood until the past couple of decades was climate change; a
phenomenon of vast importance to the human race and all life on Earth. Climate change was
previously seen as unimportant (and by some, still is), but as information on the affect which climate
change can have on modern society came into fruition, the urgency of discovering information on
what causes it also came into fruition. Many scientists believe that the acceleration of climate change
may have cataclysmic consequences on humanity including: the melting of the polar ice caps (and the
rise of sea levels and loss of animal habitats due to this), a higher frequency of category 4 and 5
hurricanes forming, and an increase in both droughts and heat waves. In retaliation scientists begun
extensive research on climate change; discovering that the main culprit of climate change is the
process of the greenhouse effect. From this information it was seen that the discovery of climate
change would have the inadvertent effect of scientists attempting to unearth possible actions which
can combat the acceleration of climate change. Due to this, it is conspicuously witnessed that the main

EBIT in 2001 was $527,366,000. So the EBIT is $137,366,000. Then this is taxed at 40% so the EAT
is $82,420,000. So by taking on more debt the EAT diminishes so the earnings per share will drop
dramatically. Dividends affect next years earnings as they are taken out of the EAT.
e. Debt Interest Coverage Rations and Financial Flexibility
The debt interest coverage ratio is EBIT/Debt Interest. The interest on the debt is $390 million as
calculated above. The EBIT in 2001 is $527,366,000. So debt coverage ratio is 527,366/390,000=1.35
If Wrigley s gets a non investment grade rating then their financial flexibility is severely limited.
f. Outstanding Shares
Issuing 3 billion dollars of new debt to pay dividends should not have any effect on the voting control
of the Wrigley family. Using that money to buy back shares will have an effect on the voting right of
the family. When shares are repurchased they are put in the company treasury and are no longer
outstanding. Then the Wrigley family s percent of outstanding shares would rise giving them more
voting control. They also have 58% if the outstanding shares of the Class B shares which have a 10 to

the Golden Age of Atlantic piracy, between the years 1650 and 1730. This book is a collection of the

and how piracy affected maritime culture. It delves into the ideas and realities of pirate life and helps

Media s Portrayal Of Skinny Women And Muscular Men
Desire for the unachievable goal of perfection is constantly stimulated by media s portrayal of skinny

to think they are not normal. For example, Danny Bowman, who at nineteen years old tried to kill
himself because he did not take a perfect selfie after ten hours of repeatedly trying (Aldridge). He

Danny says that posting on social media, becomes a mission to get approval and it can destroy anyone

Exile And Pain In Three Elegiac Poems Essay
There is a great similarity between the three elegiac poems, The Wanderer, The Wife of Lament, and
The Seafarer. This similarity is the theme of exile. Exile means separation, or banishment from ones
native country, region, or home. During the Anglo Saxon period, exile caused a great amount of pain
and grief. The theme is shown to have put great sadness into literature of this time period. The
majority of the world s literature from the past contains the theme of exile. The Wife of Lament is
another perfect example of literature with exile, and was written by an unknown author.
The most striking example of exile in this poem can be seen in the passage when she says, quot;A

The author continually describes how incredibly miserable he is living his life in exile, how awful it is
to have to live without the guidance from a higher rank being a lord and king in this case, how there is
no one to talk to and to share ones feelings with, and how there is no money or riches of any kind‚ for
a man who is living in exile.
For the most part, the poem is sad and depressing and the reader easily sees what this man is going
through and how terrible it must be for him to live without all the things many others take for granted
everyday of their lives. The author of this poem, who has obviously been exiled, does an exquisite job
of showing, maybe even teaching, to the reader how important the things are that you lose in life when
exiled, no matter how rich or poor you are. You take the greatest loss of all when you are exiled, you
take the loss of losing everything that makes it seem purposeful for you to live out the day you just
began. This is obviously the idea the author is trying to get across in this poem. Throughout the poem
The Seafarer, also composed by an unknown author, it is obvious that the man is not exiled directly in
the ways people have been exiled in the other poems, however being stuck on a ship is in many ways
quite similar to being exiled from your homeland. Numerous passages in this poem show this mans
painful life at sea. The one that stands out most greatly to me is this passage;

PUBLIC SERVICE AGENCIES 2 Public Policy Plan Proposal for Agencies Executive Summary The
public service agencies are organizations that con either be governmental or non governmental. The
agencies are significant in due to the interest they have for the state s citizens. Organizations such as
the Agency of International development (USAID), Agency of Healthcare Research and Quality
(AHRQ) and the famous American Red Cross, all have different missions, but the agenda of all these
organization is to provide service to the citizens. The organizations provide many job opportunities to
the citizens, especially positions in the civil service. The agencies are obligated to support people with
basic needs including water in case of droughts, electricity to the marginalized. In addition, the
organizations provide services like transportation and also aids in communication in case of emerging
tragedies, which are inevitable. Special programs are available to assist in the implementation of
policies in the agencies, and a critical analysis on the issue of programs is provided in this work. A

Essay about Ronald Reagan
Ronald Reagan was one of the most influential presidents in American history; yet he is one of the
least talked about in present day history books. President Reagan was not an Ivy League rich kid or
raised in a politically motivated family. He was a midwestern boy who played football and worked his
way through college. President Reagan had visions for the future of this country. Reagan realized he
wanted to lead the country during his time working in California, in the Screen Actor s Guild. He was
bothered by the spread of communism in Hollywood. He took over the Presidency in 1980 after four
years of the most awful leadership this country has ever had. Just as he swore in his campaign, he
lowered taxes, got control of oil prices and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alternative proposals were defeated in both the House and the Senate. Many people in Washington,
liberal and conservative realized they were not playing with the do nothing idiot they had
preconceived. In author Ronnie Dugger s book, critical of Reagan, it was said, quot;no ordinary
person could have achieved what Reagan has quot;. Reagan s school of thought was to combine two
basic theories, the monetarist and supply side. Monetarists believe in taking money out of the
economy and making it worth more, where supply side is to lower taxes and free up more buying
power. In 1981 taxes would be reduced twenty five percent, which in turn freed up buying power.
Reagan s belief that higher tax forces people invest money in tax shelters instead of the economy was
the backbone of his campaign. This was later called quot;Reaganomics quot;. This concept of buying
power in the 1980s has left historians to say it was a time of greed and arrogance. It was quot;a golden
age for financial wheeling and dealing, quot;(Krugman 23). The guilty feeling left looks at the decade
as a time of the rich get richer and wealth run ramped as journalist Haynes Johnson said
quot;Acquisition and flaunting of wealth been celebrated so publicly by so many quot;. (Johnson 194)
Many of the intellect in Washington and every university in the country look back and criticize the
coming out of the crisis that was enforced, if not shaped, by

Storage Space Essay
Where is a very large, integrated collection of data in a Server, held? Yes, the Storage Spaces. These
Storage Spaces lets us combine individual hard disks into storage pools and these can then be
managed as a single entity. Storage Spaces is a technology that groups the storage pools and the
storage disks which will enable the virtual storage capabilities in Windows and Windows Server
(Microsoft Corporation, n.d). The available capacity in the storage pools are then used to create virtual
disks which are called storage spaces. Firstly in this paper, I would like to provide an overview of the
new Storage Spaces functionality and the Storage Space types in Windows Server 2012. Secondly, I
would like to discuss about the fault tolerance and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first one is the simple storage layout that has no resilience, meaning it does not have the capability
of quickly recovering from the difficulties or the disk failures. This storage layout simply writes the
given data into multiple physical disks but doesn t make a clone copy or any information about the
parity. This type of layout is a good choice if your requirement doesn t need a backup of data or the
disk failure scenarios doesn t affect your requirements. This simple storage layout is a good choice in
terms of offering performance for your application if it has its own security essentials. Another type of
storage layout is the parity layout which not only writes the data into stripes across the physical disks
but also writes the parity information into extra copies. This layout is suitable for the requirements that
require maximum capacity with lower writing performances. Example of using the parity layout is
while archiving the media and when media streaming requires huge loads. The last storage layout is
the mirror layout which is similar to the parity storage layout, but with greater performances when
SSDs are added to the storage pool and when the storage tiers are being used. This resilient type writes
the data onto multiple physical disks along with making extra copies of the data and offers protection
to the data in the events of disk failures. The other metric that describes the functionality of storage
spaces are

Sylvia Earle, Explorer for National Geographic
Sylvia Earle was born on August 30, 1935 in Gibbstown, New Jersey. She was raised by her parents
on a small farm near Camden. When Sylvia was younger she enjoyed exploring the woods that was
nearby her home. She was very fascinated with the creatures and plants that lived in the wild. Sylvia s
parents loved nature as much as Sylvia does. They taught her to respect the creatures of the wildlife
and that she shouldn t be afraid of the unknown. When Sylvia was thirteen, she moved to Florida,
which is on the Gulf of Mexico. Soon Sylvia became very interested learning about the wildlife in the
Gulf and its coast. Then as she got older, Sylvia wanted to go to college but her parents didn t have the
money to send her to college. Luckily, Sylvia was an outstanding student in school and won
scholarships to Florida State. Through the school years, Sylvia worked a lot in the college
laboratories.
Sylvia went scuba diving in the Gulf of Mexico for the first time at the age of eighteen. From that first
scuba dive, Sylvia knew that she wanted to study marine. She was very fascinated with the ocean and
marine life. So from there Sylvia decided that she should specialize in botany. Sylvia believed that in
order to understand the vegetation, you first had to understand the ecosystem. So after all her hard
work, at the age of twenty, Sylvia earned her Master s degree at Duke University. After that she took
some time off. She married and started a family, but she was still an active in

  • 3. The Nature of Humans in Lord of the Flies by William Golding The nature of human: are humans born good or evil? These two opposing views on human nature are two topics that Rousseau and Golding have both touched upon. While Golding believes that humans are born inherently evil, Rousseau believes the opposite: that humans are inherently good. Golding wrote the novel Lord of the Flies as a response of the novel, The Coral Island by R.M. Ballantyne because he believed that it was far fetched. In this novel Ballantyne s main characters are able to enjoy their time on the deserted island. My opinion on this matter leans to Rousseau s side. I believe that people are born naturally good. Jean Jacques Rousseau was born in Geneva in 1712 and died in 1778 in France. While Golding lived through the two World Wars, Rousseau never lived through such conflict. A topic of Rousseau s that always came up is about how humans can keep their freedom despite their dependence on one another. He believed that there were two things that had something to do with this topic and that was a human s material and psychological need and that the latter was more important. Rousseau believed that humans get their sense of self due to opinion of others. Rousseau believes that humans are inherently born good and that and that it is society s corruption that causes humans to be evil. William Golding was born in 1911 in Cornwall, England and died in 1993. William Golding was born only three years before the start of World War I. Golding lived through both World Wars ... They have a wingspan of 29 to 31 millimeters, 1.14 to 1.22 inches, and are 2.5 to 6 inches, 6.604 to 15.24 centimeters, in length. This butterfly s appearance is different than other butterflies in many ways. The antennae club is hooked backwards like a crochet hook while the typical butterflies have club like tips to their antennae. They have stockier bodies and larger compound eyes, and they have stronger wing muscles in the plump thorax, resembling many moths than the other two butterfly lineages, which are Rhopalocera and Papilionoidea. Their wings are usually smaller than their bodies and when at rest they are angled upwards or spread out and rarely folded up completely. Their wings are more well rounded with less sharply tipped forewings. They either have prominent hindwing tails or more angled wings. They come in the colors of browns and grays; some are more boldly black and white. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In most cases, a film must make at least $50 million in order for executives to consider making a second film. Creating a sequel is tough, mainly because of the audiences high expectations. The films on this list were definitely disappointing, and in some cases, the movies should have never been made. Number One: Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013). Main characters: Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and Christina Applegate This film had the potential to be phenomenal. Number Three: Grease 2 (1982). Main characters: Michelle Pfeiffer, Maxwell Caulfield, and Adrian Zmed Again, Hollywood made another sequel without the main characters. The 1978 Grease film was a classic movie starring Olivia Newton John, John Travolta, and Stockard Channing. I love Michelle Pfeiffer, but she had a tough task to achieve. The first Grease movie is still considered to be one of the best films ever made, and the odds of anyone being able to recreate the magic was slim to none. This disease results in enlarged or deformed bones due to excessive breakdown and formation of bone tissue (Reumatología Clínica). Since there is a disturbance in the bone remodeling stage, the bones may look enlarged but it is brittle, softer, and weaker which leads to fractures and deformities (MedicineNet). This disease is a chronic bone disorder, which means that it is long term and cannot be prevented or cured by medications. Also, this disease is mostly asymptomatic meaning it does not produce or show any symptoms, which is quite terrifying. It is mostly detected when patients get an x ray for something else. Another treatment is bisphosphonates, which help control bone remodeling and resorption. Bisphosphonates were founded in the year 1970 and is now the preferred treatment because of its better efficacy and safety profile compared to the use of calcitonin (Mayo Clinic). Researchers say that Paget s disease occurs in three different phases. The first phase is called the lytic stage. During this phase, the rate of bone turnover is increased as to twenty times the normal rate. The second stage is called the mixed phase. In this phase, the osteoblasts increase because it is trying to keep up with the bone resorption by making new bone. As these two phases (osteoclasts and osteoblasts) repeat, a high degree of bone turnover happens. The final phase of Paget s disease is called the sclerotic phase. During this stage, the bone formations over rule the bone resorption causing the bone to look abnormally larger and deformed. Even though the bone appears to look larger, the bone is weaker because the way of laying down the bone is in a disorganized pattern making it less dense ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is as if students are attempting to figure out what mixture of coffee, sleep, and studying makes for a perfect college student. With so much pressure being put into getting a degree and going into professional schools after college, it would be a helpful tool for students to know what makes an individual more successful academically than the next. Resent research by Ackerman and Heggestad (1997) has suggested that individual differences such as personality and motivation can be used to explain not only variance in academic performance, but also the process by which traits influence examination scores. Motivation is a composed of four main components including academic self efficacy, attributions, intrinsic motivation, and achievement goals (Pintrich, 2002). O Neil, Goffin, and Gellatly (2010) have found that when test taking motivation is high students tend to perform better on exams increasing the rate of academic success. However, even though personality traits have been correlated to motivation to predict academic success motivation, there is little research on the mutual relationship between conscientiousness and motivation in determining academic success. Therefore, in my research I will strive to understand this unique relationship . Literature Review On Hypertension Article Review on Hypertension Lourdes Marasigan San Diego City College Introduction Hypertension or high blood pressure is one of the leading causes of cardiovascular diseases in the United States. High blood pressure simply means that the pressure in the blood vessels are higher than it normally is. Hypertension is called the silent killer because people are unaware they have it. That is why it is very important to check our blood pressure on a regular basis. Summary The article Treating Hypertension Losing sight of the Forest for the Trees? by Professor Tamera Pearson (Clinical Western Carolina University), focused on the different blood pressure guidelines, and how these guidelines led to the confusion in the discussion of the diagnosis, treatment, and management of hypertension by organizations such as the Eight Joint National Committee (JNC 8), American Heart Association (AHA), American College of Cardiology (ACC), and American Society of Hypertension (ASH). JNC 8 s target blood pressure is 150/90 mm Hg for people 60 to 79 years old in order to be diagnosed with hypertension. However, AHA, ACC, and ASH recommended that a blood pressure of 140/50 mm Hg in individuals 60 to 79 years old is the basis for treatment. South Asians have long since endured the brunt of intense prejudice at the hands of Canadians and the Canadian government. As we all are aware, the emotions and temperaments of individuals are heightened when politics are involved. First and foremost, Peel not only revised and organized the field of policing, he also was the blame for destroying the conservative party in the nineteenth century (Evans, 2006). He perceived himself as an economic reformist which lead to the creation of the Corn Laws (Evans, 2006). The LP has many subsections which allow it to work; to just leave people free to do as they please does not make a society legitimate. In fact, this would horrify Mill, because he is particularly worried about the tyranny of the majority, and in this society an irrational majority could easily exact a tyranny upon the rational minority as there would be no safeguards or restraints. The LP is put into place to stop this happening. Mill is interested in the restrictions that law is allowed to place on people, but he is also interested in the moral and social pressure that can be exerted by society upon individuals. He doesn t want people to blindly follow custom.[1] One of the sections of the LP is the harm principle (HP). This principle states that there are two kinds of acts that a person can do. The first kind are self regarding acts, which only affect the individual who is doing the self regarding act, for example using drugs to get high alone in your house.[2] The other kind are other regarding acts, which affect other people, for example shooting someone in the face. Humans have lived on the Earth for an extended period of time now, and yet the human race does not fully understand what occurs on the Earth. A phenomenon which went unnoticed and misunderstood until the past couple of decades was climate change; a phenomenon of vast importance to the human race and all life on Earth. Climate change was previously seen as unimportant (and by some, still is), but as information on the affect which climate change can have on modern society came into fruition, the urgency of discovering information on what causes it also came into fruition. Many scientists believe that the acceleration of climate change may have cataclysmic consequences on humanity including: the melting of the polar ice caps (and the rise of sea levels and loss of animal habitats due to this), a higher frequency of category 4 and 5 hurricanes forming, and an increase in both droughts and heat waves. In retaliation scientists begun extensive research on climate change; discovering that the main culprit of climate change is the process of the greenhouse effect. From this information it was seen that the discovery of climate change would have the inadvertent effect of scientists attempting to unearth possible actions which can combat the acceleration of climate change. For the most part, the poem is sad and depressing and the reader easily sees what this man is going through and how terrible it must be for him to live without all the things many others take for granted everyday of their lives. This type of layout is a good choice if your requirement doesn t need a backup of data or the disk failure scenarios doesn t affect your requirements. This simple storage layout is a good choice in terms of offering performance for your application if it has its own security essentials. Another type of storage layout is the parity layout which not only writes the data into stripes across the physical disks but also writes the parity information into extra copies. This layout is suitable for the requirements that require maximum capacity with lower writing performances. Example of using the parity layout is while archiving the media and when media streaming requires huge loads. The last storage layout is the mirror layout which is similar to the parity storage layout, but with greater performances when SSDs are added to the storage pool and when the storage tiers are being used. This resilient type writes the data onto multiple physical disks along with making extra copies of the data and offers protection to the data in the events of disk failures. The other metric that describes the functionality of storage spaces are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
