This document describes how a paperless factory concept works. Key aspects include operators scanning ID cards and work orders at machines. Real-time information on instructions, drawings, and process parameters are viewed electronically, eliminating paper. Production data like quantities, defects, and machine parameters are captured automatically. The system includes barcode/RFID readers, HMIs, data loggers, and software for production tracking, reporting, and analytics to improve productivity, quality, and cost savings.
In 2012, The Economist claimed we were entering the third industrial revolution based on the digitization of manufacturing, also referred to as the “smart factory.” The development and adoption of the Internet of Things is a critical element of smart manufacturing as reduced sensor device cost, and increased connectivity and in-memory processing give manufacturers the ability to gather and use data to increase product quality and transform operations. IT organizations are increasingly involved with the management, security and governance of this data as equipment and products are connected to the internet. This session will provide a practical framework for evaluating ways to improve sensor enablement, transaction processes and analytics based on real-world customer examples.
In all reality, there are the production waste. Here I explain the 7 wastes from most towns elliminare. Based on the TPM and Lean Management.

In these slides, the role of big data in supporting smart manufacturing is discussed: Historical perspective of data lifecycle; Conceptual Framework; and Applications.

Learn more about monitoring and visualizing your process with thermal imaging! Thermal imaging allows you to quickly detect and understand thermal characteristics of processes, equipment and products. You can use thermal imaging to improve quality and optimize your resources. Automated thermal imaging using software can help take the headache out of trying to understand the data thermal imaging cameras are collecting.
Instrumentation - The eyes and ears of the industry. Just like the human body, instruments are used to gather information on the field and then process it.

Use Cases for Big Data and the Connected EnterpriseESE, Inc.
This presentation showcases uses for big data in maintaining and improving production quality, identifying/quantifying opportunities for cost reduction, and a walk-through of a Connected Enterprise application.
For over twenty (20+) years PINpoint has worked alongside world leading manufacturers to help them to think differently about how they build their products, and manage their teams.
• PINpoint helps its clients to instill a new culture of manufacturing excellence in their operations based on a closed-loop of accountability; based on facts, not assumptions, to maximize the effectiveness of their decision making.
• PINpoint’s latest software version 5.2 (V5) enables small to large sized manufacturers to gain instant visibility into how their operations are really running; with real-time reports including OEE metrics live-streamed right to any wireless device.
• If your goal is world class quality, it is not reasonable to think it will happen on its own.
• You need a clearly defined strategy, you need to methodically execute that strategy with discipline to make your goals a reality.
• V5 ANDON provides the most modern plant floor communication and efficiency reporting system in the marketplace today; but, if you also need to drive world class quality, you need more. You need PINpoint’s proven manufacturing execution system, V5 MES.
• V5 MES / manufacturing execution system, and V5 ANDON system software are tools for everyone in the plant to use in the pursuit of world class quality.

What is Paperless Factory
3. Why Paperless Factory
Reduces or eliminates errors due to outdated
paperwork, data entry errors and illegible instructions &
drawings
Better utilisation of time
Improve productivity by …
• analyzing the root cause for stoppages and taking
necessary corrective actions
• reducing scrap/rejections by analyzing root cause for
rejections and taking necessary corrective actions
• Improving machine availability by machine health
monitoring
Improve process control by correlating process
parameter with the rejection and dimensional variations
True product costing due to the accurate labor and
machine hour booking
Cost saving
with ROI
between 1
to 2 years
9. Control plan, instructions, drawings, videos, materials
including tools & dies, process parameters and online
inspection details can be viewed by the operator for the
selected product and process
10. Operator can load the tool & dies required on the machine for
tracking the quantity produced
11. Operator can load the material on the machine for
consumption or can record the consumption as and when
required
12. Operator starts and stops the production as required
Start date & time
10-May-2002 10:10:00
Stop date & time
10-May-2002 10:10:05
13. If the operator stops and restart the machine for any reason,
he will be prompted to enter the reason for stoppages
14. Gauges and measuring instruments can be interfaced
with the Kiosk/HMI
During the production, operator is prompted to inspect
dimensions based on predefined frequency
Online run chart and process capability is displayed on
the HMI
15. Vision inspection camera can be interfaced with the
Kiosk/HMI at any stage of manufacturing or inspection
19. Operator can stop the production, confirm the quantity
produced and unload the job / work order when completed
20. The machine and process parameters along with
quantity produced and rejected / scraped can also be
captured directly from the machines using analog /
digital IO’s and data logger
010101
21. Electronic weighbridge or a weighing scale can be
interfaced with the kiosk for capturing the weight.
22. Kiosk/HMI can be used with storage system for identifying
stored material or locating free space for storage.
