The document discusses how healthcare organizations can benefit from cloud computing models implemented in the market. It summarizes the typical challenges large clinical IT environments face, such as high costs and backlogs. Sourcing IT services externally through cloud solutions is presented as an approach to address these issues. A governance model for successful sourcing is recommended. Finally, a case study of an electronic patient record (eFA) implementation between multiple hospitals in Germany is described as an example of how integrated access to patient data across different clinical IT systems can be achieved.

The overwhelming challenges of IT infrastructure managementNIIT Technologies
CIOs are now looking at IT infrastructure management as a mean to drive business transformation. To transform the way businesses work, CIOs need responsive systems and processes to bridge the gap between operations and business. With this understanding, IT leaders need to align IT with business and manage IT infrastructure as a service model. This paper surveys the challenges service providers face in managing IT infrastructures. It also lists down solutions for the effective management of IT infrastructures.
Besides the benefits are there possible challenges government agencies are likely to encounter should they
decide to adopt cloud computing? What strategies should be deployed to overcome the inhibitors of cloud
computing? These are but few questions this paper aims to investigate. Studies have shown that, cloud
computing has become a strategic direction for many government agencies and is already being deployed
in many critical areas of the government's cyber infrastructure. The benefits and the challenges of cloud
adoption have heightened interest of academic research in recent times. We are however uncertain, per
literature factors that hinder successful cloud adoption especially in the Ghanaian context. We posit that,
understanding the challenges of cloud adoption and overcoming them must accompany the use of the
technology in order to prevent unwanted technical consequences, and even greater problems from
government information management. This study is based on unstructured interviews from selected
government agencies in Ghana. The study is grounded on the theory of technology, organization and
environment (TOE) framework. Major inhibiting factors identified include lack of basic infrastructure for
cloud take-off, data security, unreliable internet connectivity, and general lack of institutional readiness

Recently, organizations have shown more interest in cloud computing because of the many advantages they provide (cost savings, storage capacity, scalability, and speed of loading). Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are one of the most important systems that have been upgraded to cloud computing. In this thesis, we focus on cloud ERP interoperability, which is an important challenge in cloud ERP. Interoperability is the ability of different components to work in independent clouds with no or minimum user effort. More than 20% of the risk rate of cloud adoption is caused by interoperability. Thus, we propose web services as a solution for cloud ERP interoperability. The proposed solution increases interoperability between different cloud service providers and between cloud ERP systems with other applications in a company.

Electrical power – it surrounds us wherever we go. In our homes, we have a seemingly endless supply
of electricity. Every electrical outlet represents another dynamic source of energy to power our many devices. A new air conditioner – plug it in. A new TV – plug it in. A new microwave oven – plug it in.
Moreover, we are constantly on a quest for more – an Xbox here, a surround sound system there. Of
course, there are limits to the amount of electricity that you can put on any one circuit in your home before
the circuit breaker trips and everything on that circuit stops. That is why we have multiple circuits; it
enables us to plug in even more devices until we reach the limit of energy being supplied to us. Unfortunately,
we do not have a dedicated power source for our homes; it is more like a 1940’s telephone party
line: we must share it with all of our neighbors.

Capacity Optimisation: Use what you have. Buy what you need: Jim Waring, BMC ...BMC Software
Do you know which resources you already own are actually being used? How do you know what additional resources you need? Before you can plan and budget for additional infrastructure resources, you need to know what you have, what you are using, and how well your IT services are running on those existing resources.
This presentation will discuss how you can cost-effectively right-size your IT infrastructure to meet the changing needs of your business.
The emergence of social, mobile, cloud, big data and analytics are fundamentally changing how we live, work and interact.
Mobile devices are ubiquitous. Changing consumer behaviors, supplanting PCs, generating massive amounts of data and putting new demands on the enterprise to not only support these devices but to adjust the way they do business.
Social technologies are changing the way we interact, communicate and share information – equally generating vast amounts of data and impacting business as they try to unlock the full potential social has to offer.
Cloud technologies bring new scale and efficiency to service delivery and enable more agile ways of doing business and drive business model innovation. For companies, It also brings information and applications to people at the right time and place.
All of these trends are fueling an explosion of data. Not only do enterprises need to store, manage and secure this data, they also need to derive meaningful insight from these vast amounts of data. Data is the basis of significant opportunity and a source of competitive advantage for all organizations. Data is a new economic asset, the next natural resource.
These trends are spawning new workloads, business processes and technology deployments that are putting unprecedented demands on our IT environments.
The paper aims to provide a means of understanding the model and exploring options available for complementing your technology and infrastructure needs.
Cloud Adoption in Capital Markets: A PerspectiveCognizant
For the financial services industry, the adoption of cloud services has become a viable business directive. As firms work to recoup their losses from the recent financial crisis, pay-as-you-go cloud services allow them to focus more on strategic, innovative and revenue-generating endeavors and less on managing routine IT activities and the supporting infrastructure.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
