Informative Essay On Cirque Du Soleil
Cirque du Soleil
The show is full of excitement, it keeps you at the edge of your seat, and it grasps your imaginations.
It s not like any other show you ve seen live. The circus brings to life wonderment only seen in
dreams. I ve only seen a circus in movies, and the acts mainly consist of uniquely appearing people
with special talents, clowns, and animal cruelty fueled performances. It intrigued me (not the animal
cruelty part of course). Therefore, I got the idea to find a circus that is alive and thriving today. What I
found is sensational; Cirque du Soleil. Cirque du Soleil is an entertainment company that was co
founded in the 1984 at Baie Saint Paul, Quebec, Canada by Gilles Ste Croix and Guy Laliberté. It was
founded as a tour group for Quebec s 450th anniversary of Jacques Cartier s discovery of Canada.
Before then, the performances were simple; they walked on stilts, juggled, and breathed fire ( Cirque
du Soleil ). Today, Cirque du Soleil is known for its high flying acrobatics, death defying stunts, and
extravagant visuals. Their motto is to invoke the imagination, provoke the senses and evoke the
emotions of people around the world, (Kingsford Smith). They combine their mesmerizing gymnastic
stunts with a theatre like performance that keeps the audience enticed all throughout their shows. ...

newer maneuvers that he would like to implement into the show. Then during the show, he has 45

Female Genital Mutilation ( Fgm )
INTRODUCTION
Female genital cutting (also known as female genital mutilation) is one of the most prevalent
violations of the human rights of women in the world. As of 2010, 100 to 140 million female bodied
people were living with mutilated genitalia. According to the United Nations, Female genital
mutilation (FGM) comprises all procedures that involve altering or injuring the female genitalia for
non medical reasons. Female genital cutting is a practice that is generally directed at female bodied
people under the age of 18. International institutions such as the United Nations call it a violation of
the rights of the child... [a violation of] the rights to health, security and physical integrity of the
person, the right to be free from torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, and the right to life
when the procedure results in death.
It is a practice that has been proven to not be effectively combatted by international legislation,
national legislation, human rights advocacy, or educational programs. However, human beings operate
based on cultural and social norms. Female genital cutting is a practice that is enforced by social and
cultural norms in the places where it is common. Thus, one of the most effective methods of
combatting FGC involves community based organizations, which must work together to create norm
based social change in order to alter the cultural beliefs that allow FGC to endure and spread, thereby
eliminating or curbing the practice.

Object Oriented Programming Essay
Designing a Class Tutorial for C++ OOP (Object Oriented Programming) The modern programming is
based on the concept that program little and use more . The object oriented programming languages
are playing a vital role in the industry of development. The OOP introduced following concepts: Split
a program into set of tasks and sub tasks Develop functions for these tasks And reuse these functions
with little or less modifications This lead a new term Reusability , which means that you have to write
a function once and use the function again and again by calling the Object of that Class in which the
function is present. You can also further implement the Class by adopting the rules provided by OOP.
C++ is a good example of object oriented programming. Features of OOP There are many features of
OOP, but the most common features are: Encapsulation Inheritance Polymorphism Abstraction
Contracts Class The class is capsule that is used to encapsulate an abstract data type. When you define
a class, you define a blueprint for a data type. The class itself does not defines data, its only gives the
name concerning with the objects. However a class contains one or more than one objects. These
objects are the operations which a class performs. In short, a class provides blueprints of objects. The
basic syntax for a class is: Objects Objects are the actual operations and functions that a class
performs. Each object has its own characteristics/properties/attributes and

Antigone’s Purpose
Brooks Fridey
Antigone s Purpose
In the story of Antigone, originally written by Sophocles, explains the story, of a woman who stands
up for her own beliefs against the king. At the time of Sophocles, women had little power and
authority. They were expected to listen to their husband, king, or any man that speaks to or asks a
woman of something. The story starts up where the story of Oedipus ends, in his death. Trouble and
war are about to begin in Thebes, so Antigone travels there to try and stop what may become of her
family and country. From my observations, this story can be analyzed in multiple ways, whether it is
about the struggles of women, defying the higher power, or responding to the will of the gods. It is

To Antigone, it is not necessary that someone should obey their leader at all times. She believes what
Creon declared to happen to her brothers was unfair and that the gods were telling her she needed to
bury her brother. Antigone was unapproved to the treatment of women in these times, and that the king
must be obeyed in all causes. She believed the gods were the true powers, and bad things would come
upon you if you did not cooperate with their requests. When Haemon comes into the story,
acknowledged as Antigone s fiancée, who is the son of Creon, makes it clear why Antigone was even
still alive. Although Creon was cruel and often harsh, there was still something or someone holding
him back from simply killing her. Haemon told his father it would be wrong to kill Antigone and
would bring great mourning to the people of Thebes following her death. He wants Creon to be open
to others views, but Creon responds by calling Haemon a woman s slave for backing up a woman and
not his own father. A blind prophet advises Creon that he should properly bury Polyneices and release
Antigone. He says if he does not he will greatly anger the gods, and might create his own misfortune
for his disobedience. Possibly leading to his own death. As Creon ponders his possibilities and future,
he finally decides to release Antigone and bury Polyneices. As he thought he was then making the
right decision, he would soon find out what his

Petitioner Michael Crawford stabbed a man who allegedly tried to rape his wife, Sylvia. At his trial,
the State played for the jury Sylvia s tape recorded statement to the police describing the stabbing,
even though Crawford had no opportunity for cross examination. The State sought to introduce a
recorded statement that petitioner s wife Sylvia had made during police interrogation, as evidence that
the stabbing was not in self defense. Sylvia did not testify at trial because of Washington s marital
privilege. The tape was played at trial, but she did not testify, testimonial statements are at issue, the

A Research on African-American Literature
African American Literature Introduction The history of African Americans in America has been a tale
of relentless desire for the American Dream of freedom and prosperity. White America s reactions to
that desire and the resulting struggles in different periods have been faithfully chronicled by Art,
Music and Literature. Though there are numerous works recounting racial relations in America, the
three assigned readings, To My Old Master, Sonny s Blues and Birmingham Sunday, give exceptional
reflections of the 1860 s 1950 s and 1960 s America by notable African Americans. To My Old Master
by Jourdon Anderson To My Old Master (Young, 1996, pp. 15 16) is chronologically the first of the
three selected readings and is a letter written on August 7, 1865. Written 1 year after the author s
emancipation and only 4 months after the end of the American Civil War, Anderson s letter is clearly
the product of the struggle between North and South regarding slavery, the emancipation of slaves by
the Emancipation Proclamation during the War, and the ability of former slaves to carve a successful
niche for themselves as capable and newly free people who were finally given a chance to succeed.
The author apparently received correspondence from his former slave owner requesting that Anderson
return to Tennessee and work on his former owner s farm. Unfortunately for the Colonel, when
Anderson received the Colonel s request, the former slave had already become emancipated, relocated

Observation and Requirements Gathering
Introduction
The purpose of the report is to gather beneficial information that is important to the user of a workout
app, such as features, usability, and functionalities.
Method
Five people provided interviews to gather the user observations. All five of these people enjoy
exercising on a daily basis. The group is comprised of three men and two women. All were
interviewed in person with pen and paper for data gathering. The data that was gathered was then
interpreted into needs and from that a survey was developed.
Results
The questions in Appendix A could get the most out of users because they cover all aspects of design
and they are simple. The most common feature in the app was music control. It would be more
convenient for the users to access and control their music directly in the app without having to access
their devices native music app. One particular item of interest is the fact that no one mentioned
anything about social media connectivity. Some of the features discussed were GPS tracking, music

The Afterlife ...a very curious subject that we as humans want to know about, we never want to

amount of ways life could be after death, if there even is life after death. Maybe one day you have the
gloomy ,and desirable curiosity questions floating in your head like, do they miss me, or have they
moved on already? In Is my Team Plowing , by A.E. Housman, the emotional speaker discusses how
life goes on after death. The speaker, who is thought to be the friend of a dead man, is guilty for
moving on in life and having relations with his deceased friend s wife, so he is having a moment of
guilt in his head or else that s how I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People will eventually be forgotten, and life will continue on earth for everyone else. The poem
structure is an eight stanza quatrain with a rhyme scheme of ABCB. Is football playing / Along the
river shore, / With lads to chase the leather, / Now I stand up no more? (Housman 9 12). Each stanza
alternates between questions from the dead man and answers from his friend. Stanzas that are quoted
represent the dead man s questions. The stanzas without quotations are responses from the friend who
is alive. Each stanza is significant because it reveals a little background of some of the things the dead
man participated in. The speaker of the poem is a matter of opinion and how you look at things. One
outcome is that it s the dead man literally talking to his friend in some way and they are discussing
life. The second thought is that the friend is having internal conflict with himself with the fact that he
got with the dead man s wife. The purpose is to communicate emotionally a certain truth about human
life; life goes on after our deaths. Very similar to the way life was before your death.
It also emphasizes the humans sense of betray and guilt that may follow after the death of a friend.
(Arp and Johnson 687). Yes, lad, I lie easy, / I lie as lads would choose; / I cheer a dead man s
sweetheart, / Never ask me whose. (Housman 29 32). The irony of the story that you catch on at the
end is that his friend hooked up with his girlfriend and life

Why I Chose This Career
Introduction Paragraph
The career that I will be researching is Cosmetology. There are really two reasons why I chose this
career. The first reason is so I can help work my way through college. At first I wanted to go for a
lawyer so I was looking at seven years of college, but now I am looking to go for business to open my
own salon. The second reason is because since I was a little girl I have always loved doing hair. I find
that when you do somebodies hair you are actually doing a good deed. They may walk into that salon
not feeling as confident as they usually do because their hair is messed up or outgrown, and then when
they leave your salon, they feel like a brand new person, and honestly that is what I love most about
this occupation. I hope to learn that this is honestly the occupation for me. That I will be comfortable
doing hair for the rest of my life. A lot of girls will drop out because once they go to school for
cosmetology, they find out doing hair all the time is not something that they want to do. I found out
that I enjoy it. I also want to learn that I will be able to support myself and my future family on this
job and this job only if I open my own salon.
Career Information
Cosmetology is all about your skills and your personality. Think about it... you go into a salon to get
your hair done, and you have been going to this salon for your whole life. You know everyone there
and they have been there for you through everything in your life. You are not going to

Gilgamesh is very unhappy with the decision that the gods made. Enkidu s death is a punishment for

The Causes Of The Stock Market Crash Of 2008
In Frontline s The Meltdown, the causes of the stock market crash of 2008 came into discussion. The
topics regarding Bear Stearns, the Lehman Brothers and their collapse, and the huge bailout made in
results to the market crash. There were great points being made on the mistakes Henry Paulson and
Ben Bernanke did not view from their perspective, which in turns were the problems that made up the
crash.
It was not until 2007 when foreclosures occurred more and became prominent, especially since the
last market crash during the Great Depression. As Gretchen Morgenson of the New York Times
discusses, Bear Stearns was known for his great plays with mortgages on Wall Street. People who
believed Stearns would pull the right decisions became scared as the values of their assets were
decreasing. This created a necessitated attitude towards money since their was money being borrowed
fighting against the collaterals, in turns the assets. When the assets started to decline, you need to start
paying back money to those you have borrowed from. Roughly $1.6 billion was discarded in Stearns
decisions, which was the start to the stress he would obtain from the crash. This enabled the world to
see how weak the market was, especially those who had a role within the market. When banks also
saw the weakness mortgage companies had developed, they decided to raise the cost of borrowing
money from them, creating doubts if these mortgage firms, such as Stearns, would be able to solve

My Papaw Short Story
My papaw, Fred, has always played a role of being easy going and simple. He s about six foot, has

knows that someone will have a lighter. His addiction isn t healthy, but it relieves his stress. With his
cigarette, he carries PTSD and shaky hands. My family used to give him a hard time until we saw him
go without one. He dreams of jets taking off over his head and the roaring engines leaving him deaf in
one ear. His slightly discolored fingertips shake with anxiety at the thought of ever being on another
plane. He can name every part, what it does, and exactly how the engine works. He recites it as if he is
staring straight at one, the memories absorbed into his mind like a paper towel soaking up spilled

George Orwell Courage
In Shooting an Elephant , Orwell, being a police officer, is going through some tough times. The
reason being was because many of the people in the area, in which he resided, hated Europeans. In the
story, Orwell is told that an elephant has gone on a rampage and is asked to deal with the situation.
The elephant s rampage had come to an end and it was peacefully eating grass He took not the
slightest notice of the crowd s approach. He was tearing up bunches of grass, beating them against his
knees to clean them and stuffing them into his mouth (George Orwell, 142). He wanted to leave the

he was expected to do. For it is the condition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ways in Which the Culture Influences the International...
1. Introduction
International marketing or business is uniquely different from the local market because the product
price, place and promotion is vastly different from what is been offered to local customers (Johansson,
2000) With the emergence of the information technology, cross border marketing has never been a
distant dream. However, it has never been easier even for giant multinational companies to face
challenges that come in international business. The biggest challenge comes from the culture which
varies from country to country.
At its basic understanding, international marketing engages the firm in making one or more marketing
mix decisions across national boundaries. At its complex level, it involves the firm in establishing ...

Similarly, in any country whether they are Muslim or non Muslim state, when there are Muslim in the
community they have to cater with halal certified meet as well chicken. Therefore, this cultural factor
has major influence on KFC, McDonalds, as well as Pizza Hut or for that matter all companies who
are involved in restaurant and food sector. Hotel chains in Saudi Arabia are been influenced by the
culture of the society and the country. For instance, Hilton hotel chains in Saudi Arabia and close to
the Mecca and Medina serves mostly to pilgrims rather than the tourist. Hence all activities in Hilton
chain needs to be catered to religious cultural activities (Fallon, 2010).
2. Adaptation and standardization
It was in the Fordism era in the early 19th century where standardization was the most widely used
strategy across the industrialized countries (Johansson, 2000). Henry Ford when he manufactured
Ford Car, the company produced only black Ford. Standardization refers a company providing the
same identical product across the globe (Keegon, 2002). Most of the time they are considered to be
global brands (Johanson, 2000). Some of the example that could be considered global brands is Coca
Cola, McDonalds or Amazon. However, they too have some degree of adaptation in taste or price
when it comes to marketing in a different market. According to Carl Ritzer (2007) in its journal on
Mcdonaldization of society, he found out that in the

Analysis Of Snow White And The Seven Drawfs
The film of Snow White and the Seven Drawfs (1938) is directed by David Hand (supervising) an
animated musical fantasy that film produced by Walt Disney Productions and originally released by
RKO Radio Pictures. The film shows the audience how heroism is the major theme because there are
good individuals (i.e. the seven dwarfs, the forest animal and the prince) around whom we can count
on to do the right thing even when we are in trouble. Surprisingly, the film story is slightly told
differently from the original story written by the Grimm brothers. In effect, Disney removes scenes
such as [a mother] eating the lungs and liver of her supposedly dead daughter because that the
animated film is addressed to young children(Davis, 2009). Not mention, young children would not
understand why a mother would want to kill her own daughter out of jealousy. The movie Snow White
and the Seven Drawfs has many themes but heroism is the main focus in this paper. In short, heroism
is established through costumes, acting style, and lighting.
Heroes are dressed in costumes. This is shown in The Evil Queen s Death scene in which the animal
sense danger and after attempting to drive [the Witch] away, rush to the mine to fetch the dwarfs,
where they try to warn them.nWhen Sleepy suggests that the Queen has found Snow White, the
dwarfs rush home to find that the Witch has succeeded in poisoning the princess and it s about to
leave. The dwarfs chase the Witch into the mountains and she reaches the cliff. [The Witch] attempts
to crush the dwarfs with a boulder nut a flash of lightning causes her to fall from the cliff and be
crushed by the boulder herself (The Disney Wiki). The seven dwarfs costumes are different colored
stocking caps, tunic, leggings with a black belt with a rectangular outlined buckle, and medieval style
shoes.
After, the handsome Prince arrives in a custom wearing a red cape, a blue tunic over a white shirt with
gray pants, a dagger sheathed at his left hip and boots to kiss Snow White to break the spell of the
Sleeping Death. The heroism theme is established in costumes to become the best version of yourself
and approachable to those in need.
The heroism theme comes through the acting style in Snow White

Harvest Table Observation
This last Monday I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Harvest Table in Brookings SD. It was a
wonderful and eye opening experience. Anna and I had planned to do a fun leaf activity where
children could color over leaves on paper or use paint to stamp the leaves on paper. As a teacher, I had
many thoughts run through my mind. As the children started to arrive over to our table, they were
interested to see what we had. They loved the feeling of the foam paint, but quickly lost interest. The
children seemed to be more comfortable at the tables with the activities and art from the previous
times. Many of these children need consistency in their life and these Monday nights are probably that
one event and time that they get that consistency.

Wilderness In The Bible
As I remembered the many examples of the wilderness in the Bible I wanted to see how what they
have in common could to serve to define what it meant to be in the wilderness. From the stories of
Adam and Eve, the people of Israel, Moses, and Jesus being tempted in the wilderness, I found
common characteristics of how wilderness was understood. It was a place away from society and with
less control. People are often lost and wandering as they experience the wilderness. It is where people
go to be tested or punished and people often feel disconnected from God. It is also the place in the
New Testament where mentally ill people dwell. But for all of its negativity, the wilderness is not all
bad. It is where we find miracles and some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It felt natural to use Tom Long and approach the text in a then vs now mindset. The problem in the

then is that Jesus seeks out John in the wilderness and makes his presence known. The problem we
have today is that we are in Advent but are experiencing a range of emotions similar to the diversity
the wilderness can bring. Our solution today is knowing that Christ is near in Advent and that He will
still reach us in our joy or in our pain. For the structure, I decided with: problem now, problem then,
solution then, solution now. I always prefer to begin the sermon with what is relevant in today s world

Modulating Gene Expression with Multiple Intermediate Steps
Gene expression can be modulated by multiple intermediate steps, including transcription, post
transcriptional modifications, RNA splicing, translation, and post translational modifications;
transcription being the first step and a key mechanism for regulating gene expression. Transcriptional
control is mediated through promoters and regulatory elements, which are all essential for
spatiotemporally correct gene expression. Genome organization has been undoubtedly linked with
regulation of gene expression through global analyses of mammalian genomes. Previous hypotheses
suggested that genome is arranged as independently regulated chromosomal domains flanked by
boundary elements (i.e. insulators). This might be true in compact genomes of organisms such as
yeasts (e.g. S. cerevisiae 12.1 Mb), where an uninterrupted genomic segment (i.e. regulatory
expression unit) is formed comprising of a particular gene and its regulatory elements. Nevertheless,
in more complex genomes such as those of humans (H. sapiens 3.2 Gb) and mouse (M. musculus 2.7
Gb) the situation is substantially more complex, where genes and their regulatory elements can be
dispersed over many hundreds of kilobases. These observations concur with current hypotheses,
where cis regulatory elements including Locus Control Regions (LCRs), enhancers, silencers, and
insulators, may be dispersed over tens to thousands of kilobases. Furthermore, cis regulatory elements
of one gene are commonly embedded within a neighbour

Explain The Outlines The Production Process
Chapter five outlines the health care providers cost production process. The production functions are
the relationship between the quantity the producer is willing to supply and the variables used to decide
price and quantity for sale. The intention of the cost production is to convert input (i.e. labor, land,
knowledge) into output/finished products or services. The variables used that influence the suppliers
are input price, case mix, and technology. In the medical domain, the production function includes
fixed input and variable input. In the short term, the fixed input is restricted to a production cycle and
duty, a fixed variable. Whereas, the variable input is an input whose quantity can change or adjust at

came about to really jumpstart the civil rights movement that greatly affects us today.
During alabama in this time the law for bus riding for african americans was that they had to pay their
fare in the front of the bus then walk out to the rear entrance and sit in the back of the bus, they were
not allowed to sit toward the front, according to Mary Hall an american author who wrote the

passengers were seated first, and that forces them to seat farther back or just stand until they arrive to
their stop. What also is ridiculous is that is that they are not allowed to sit across from the whites in
the same row (Academy of Achievement). Even throughout all these rules, some bus drivers would
just close their doors and take off before they get on leaving them stranded to find another bus for
transportation.

The Great Chicago Fire By Robert Cromie
The Great Chicago Fire was a historical narrative written by Robert Cromie in 1958, a little less than
100 years after the fire took place. Robert Cromie had many accomplishments to be proud of, since he
was a war correspondent, a sports journalist, a columnist, a book editor/author, and a radio and
television host. His radio and television shows were about books and authors, and they gained him
numerous writing and broadcasting awards. In 1936, he joined the Chicago Tribune staff as a writer

wrote for several national magazines, one of them being the Saturday Evening Post. Cromie wrote

The book first starts off by describing the current state of Chicago in 1871. Chicago was extremely
dry during that year and in fact, many fires had occurred recently in the Windy City before the Great
Chicago Fire. Cromie describes the city as an enormous artificial forest, drying out in a sun heated
oven (pg 9), since almost everything was made out of wood, from the pine block paving, to fences of
pine, to wooden roofs. Chicago also was filled with warehouses with wooden shelves, lumber mills,
and paint and varnish shops that contained inflammable items. On page 11, Cromie stated that,
Chicago specialized in the production, handling, and storage of combustible goods . All this
information showed how easily a fire could spread; Chicago was almost asking for a terrible fire to
happen. The cause of the fire is still uncertain today, but it has been speculated about by many
researchers. Cromie chose to write about the legend of Mrs. O Learys cow. Although Mrs. O Leary
denied any accusations towards her, many people still blamed her cow, who could have knocked over
a gas lantern inside a wooden shed near her house. On October 8, 1871 the flame started somewhere
near the O Learys house, and the Great Chicago Fire began and spread rapidly. There were many
firefighters that were on call that October night, but all their efforts were

What Is The Intimate Act Of Choreography
The theme of The Intimate Act of Choreography by Lynne Anne Blom and L. Tarin Chaplin is to
inform the audience on what choreography is and how to go about the creative process of dance. This
book s purpose is to be a guide into choreographic process. The choreographic process, which is a
series of steps that create dance and classify dance as a whole, helps the authors break down the major
ideas to form smaller concepts which are used to initialize a dance. The work provides an analytical
view on dance as an artform but also in making the process to simple to understand and how to use.
They do this using three steps to simplify the choreographic process divide, expand, and use. These
three steps are relatively simple but allow for the audience to understand the purpose of the book and
transfer their newfound knowledge into the world. The Intimate Act of Choreography acts as lecture,
setting up the structural bones for those interested in choreography. This is informative and

Comparison of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Austen’s...
Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet and Austen s Pride and prejudice are two completely different texts as
one dialogue to represent feelings of love, whereas the other novel which uses description of the
characters feelings to portray strong love. Shakespeare s wrote the famous love story in English
literature in the 17th century whereas Austen lived in the 19th century which I believe contributes to
their views on love and the time they lived in affects their characters and techniques of writing.
Romeo and Juliet explore love and tragedy when the two protagonists fall in love except they come
from families which have extreme dispute and hatred between each other. However they are so much
in love they go against and disregard their family s rivalry and marry despite the fact that the story
ends in catastrophe as their love is so strong that are prepared to die for each other and so they do.
Whilst in pride and prejudice we explore two protagonists Elizabeth Bennet who is seen as an
intelligent young women with a lively wit which enables her to pervade her class and spiteful society

It was very difficult for me to accept the reality that I can t have the life I had in India. So, that
transformation of the new lifestyle was extremely hard. Holy Family University also states, A

Mechanical Engineering And Their Knowledge Of...
Environmental engineers use their knowledge of biology and chemistry to create solutions to
environmental problems. They are associated with controlling water and air pollution, recycling and
ways of improving it, public health issues, and waste disposal. Environmental engineers evaluate
hazardous waste, advise on how to treat and contain the hazard, and develop regulations on how to
prevent mishaps with the hazard in the future. They design water supply and industrial wastewater
treatment systems, research the impact on the environment a proposed construction project will have,
analyze scientific data, and do quality control checks. Environmental engineers are concerned with not
just local environmental issues, but worldwide issues as well. They are also involved in the protection
of wildlife. Many environmental engineers work as consultants, help their clients to comply with
government regulations, prevent environmental damage, and clean up hazardous sites and any waste
on them.
Mechanical engineers design, manufacture, develop, research, and test machines, tools, engines, and
other mechanical devices. Mechanical engineering is considered one of the broadest engineering

Social Problem Of Violence Against Women
Violence against women is huge social problem. It is not just a women s problem but also a men s
problem. Violence against women is seen everywhere in the world, especial those who live in more
patriarchal society. We are in a world where we see violence against women as a big issue but we have
done very little to dissolve it. Violence against women is everywhere, at home, at the workplace, and
even outside, in the places in between. Violence against women does not discriminate, it touches every
race and at every age. Many violence against women are left without punishment. No matter how
small or how big the violence is, it needs to be addressed. Violence against women is very much
workplace as any other place. Violence against women is mostly seen when the person initiating
violence is in a higher position then a women. This leads to many acts of violence left unpunished or
resolved. Because those initiating the violence is mostly male who are the boss or the manager,
females do not speak up and report it. Females will most likely not report it because they will not like
to lose their job, they would believe no one will believe them, and it would cost to much drama and
talk in the workplace. Just a slap or a push is left unreported because females believes they are minor

The reaction of the bad economy after War World I, was unexpected in berlin, the population want to
look for pleasure and spend all their energy just pleasing their needs, instead of working to re establish
their economy after the devastating war. During this period the spread of the famous cabaret in berlin
was successful, these cabarets were restaurants and nightclubs where people sat at tables and talk
about politics, economy and afterwar themes, they also were entertained by singers, dancers, and
comedians on stages, making a different show that everybody loved. Because of the liberalism in
berlin after the war and the need of the people, cabaret was the new place of everybody to enjoy and
spend all their money; smoking cigars, and drinking alcohol. According to the film in the Second
Degree: Cabaret and the Dark Side of Laughter by TERRI J. GORDON
In the Weimar period, a general distinction was drawn between literary cabarets (now referred to by
the term Kabarett), satirical cabarets with social and political value, and entertainment cabarets (now
referred to as Cabaret), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, there were a lot of homosexual dressed like a woman that were performed and interacting with
the audience very natural. There were no prejudices and criticism among their own society they were
facing a difficult time with no jobs, food, where the economy was devastating and the only thing that
they care was the pursuit of their own happiness and pleasure. The Golden Twenties was a time of
great contrast and confusions, fears and joys, evolution and expectations, both in public life and in
private. And eventually, a time when woman dominated or control. In Berlin, the whole world had
changed and in many aspects, it had turned upside down. Modernity and liberalism had taken

Modernism And The Cultural Logic Of Late Capitalism
In general, many of the most urgent theories of modernity, and by extension, the aesthetic revolution
of modernism, focus on the development of capitalism and its relation to cultural form. This strain of
economic criticism is especially valuable in grasping both the pains and promises of modernity.
Additionally, this strain is an attractive approach because it provides a grounded historical method of
periodization each stage of capitalism has a dominant mode of artistic production. Fredric Jameson, in
his highly influential Postmodernism, or the Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism (1991), uses three
stages of capitalism competitive, monopoly, and multinational to create his own corresponding
schema of cultural periodization realism, modernism, and postmodernism. However, in The Existence
of Italy (1992), Jameson relaxes these categories somewhat by positing the existence of shorter cycles
that follow the same trajectory of realism → modernism → postmodernism but occur outside the
standard periodization, which is directly linked to specific capitalist phases. Here, cycles is the best
description of this phenomenon because it reinforces their relationship to capitalism; Jameson bases
his logic of larger periodization on long cycles of economic development. However, this logic s
timeline is closely correlated to the core countries of capitalism, which has enabled their cultural form
to become the standard. Thus, I contend that the conjecture of shorter cycles can be utilized

Nailer By John Collier Analysis
This passage relates to the thematic topic of social classes. Nailer must come from an underprivileged
and poverty stricken social class. He is forced to work in small, dark spaces surrounded with harmful
asbestos and grime. Climbing through dark and unfamiliar ducts is dangerous and terrifying,
especially for a teenager like Nailer. Nobody should be performing the difficult and risky job Nailer
has. Nailer is being exposed to damaging and cancer causing asbestos which might have adverse
effects on his health. If he has to work in such an unsafe and toxic setting, he must be poor and
extremely desperate for a job. This passage relates to the thematic topic of trust vs. betrayal. Nailer
found himself in a position that left his life in the hands of Sloth s decision. He plummeted down into
an old oil reservoir and was drowning in the slick crude oil. The oil was a massive find, which could
have led to an improved and prosperous life, something Nailer nor Sloth had. Sloth found him and had
two choices: go back to the crew and seek help or leave Nailer to die, stealing and profiting from his
discovery. Since there was a great amount of wealth and prosperity at stake, Sloth had to choose
between being an honorable, trusting character or being a selfish, betraying individual. Since ... Show

and were looking to abduct Nita as leverage against her father. Nailer was able to find a crew still

everything so they could rescue her. Nailer was astonished by how trusting and loyal they were to Nita

crew members displayed back at the ship breaking yards .The crew greatly admired and valued Nita,

Holden Caulfield Symbolism
In The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger, Salinger places a significant amount of importance on the
title. The tile itself The Catcher in the Rye is a symbol of Holden Caulfield s love of innocence and
children, and his willingness to protect them from becoming the monster that Holden Caulfield has
become. This is evident in Holden s admiration for children, the symbolic meaning behind Holden s
definition of a Catcher in the Rye , and Holden s hatred of adult s unawareness of protecting the
innocence of the youth. Holden Caulfield throughout the Catcher in the Rye has this admiration
toward children, which is a direct contrast to his view of everyone being a phony. This is evident in
Holden s double standard that he has toward his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, something that particularly bothered him was the treatment of children by adults. This is
evident in Chapter 16 were he states The cars zoomed by, brakes screeched all over the place, his
parents paid no attention to him, and he kept walking next to the curb and singing. This abusive
behavior of adults on children is what ruins the innocence of children, and is what strips them from
their innocence. This in turn ultimately leads to a disastrous transition to adulthood, one that Holden
Caulfield is currently facing. Catcher in the Rye , is a symbol of preserving the innocence of the youth
and stopping the abusive and phony , behavior of adults and ultimately living in innocence and in a

Marxist Reading Of The Chaser
John Collier wrote a story called The Chaser. This story wraps around two men with a fiction theme of
life changing potions. Our main character Alan Austen walks into a noticeable unfriendly apartment
where he confronts an old man that is selling potions. Alan comes looking for a love potion that will
make the person of his dreams become obsessed with him around the clock. However within this story
one can see where Feminist and Marxist critics could pick and point at certain moments in this story.
Also how one s views can change the bases of the story. Marxist Criticism is based around the money
standpoint of every story, film, ect. This kind of criticism basically states that more money equals
more power. With that being said it can be interpreted that the old man who is selling the potions has
the most power in this story. One can infer this do to him selling a one dollar potion that will with time
turn into a purchase of a five thousand dollar potion. The next step down is the man buyin the potion
in the story. He is second in power do to him having the money to make the purchase, and also being
able to buy the girl of his dreams with money. Since that one dollar love potion will make and human

Do to feminist critics having the goal of pointing out the slightest moment in a piece where females
might somehow be devalued. The whole idea of having the ability to buy a love potion can be related
to reality as a guy slipping something in a girl s drink to where she has no control or other choice
besides what the man says. Feminist critics can also say that since it is a man going to buy the potion
with money, then that it saying that a woman s love can only be purchased with money. Now with the
glove cleaner potion a feminist critic wouldn t be very happy of the idea that a male could simply buy
a potion and be done with his female companion with simplicity of five thousand

Leadership Studies Minor At Baylor University
The Culmination of my Leadership Studies Minor The Leadership Studies Minor at Baylor University
provides students with the opportunity to learn about leadership in ways that will be useful in their
vocation. Classes in this minor are designed to teach students about the theoretical and practical uses
of leadership that are relevant to the work force today. The leadership courses I have taken at Baylor
and my time as part of the Leadership Living Learning Center, better known as LEAD, has shaped my
opinion of the importance of the Leadership Studies Minor. This paper will examine how the
Leadership Studies Minor helped me learn about myself as a leader and guided me to pursue my
passions in the next chapter of my life. In my first semester at Baylor I was forced to quickly adapt to
both the pace of college classes and the demands of LEAD. My freshman year in LEAD
fundamentally changed my view of leadership, specifically how I could be a leader in situations that I
hadn t been before. Coming into college my previous leadership experience was limited to being the
captain of the tennis team at my high school and the oldest of seven in my family. These roles were
similar in that because I had the most authority, based on skill for the tennis team and seniority over
my siblings, I felt comfortable in a leadership position. I quickly learned as part of the LEAD program
and in my first leadership course, Introduction to Leadership, that being a leader is much more than
being

Essay On Red Hunting Hat In Catcher In The Rye
Sporting a plaid, red deer hunting hat, he would consistently pull the bill of the hat around to the back
due to he insisted he looked better. The flaps would always stay down to cover his ears and would
constantly be questioned why he was wearing a deer hunting hat when he was not hunting deer.
Holden Caulfield, main character of J.D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, regularly dons a red deer
hunting hat for the majority of the novel. The Catcher in the Rye is a coming of age novel showing
how the main character spends his days between moving out of his private school and returning home
to his parents in New York in his hunting hat. Caulfield must manage the constant changing of
schools, underage drinking, and not following the crowd, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another standard Caulfield must abide by: the current drinking laws. Caulfield is an avid drinker at
clubs and bars, nevertheless, waiters constantly do not serve him due to his age. While in his hotel bar,
The Lavender Room, Caulfield attempts ordering a drink, I ordered a Scotch and soda, and told him
not mix I said it fast as hell, because if you ham and haw, they think you re under twenty one and won
t sell you any intoxicating liquor. I had trouble with him anyway... (90 91). Ordering a drink fast and
not look like anything is wrong is the approach Caulfield takes when soliciting a drink from the bar;
the waiter is no use though for he will not serve Caulfield without verification. A separate occasion of
Caulfield acquiring alcoholic refreshments is at Ernie s, a popular night club. At the same time of
being seated, Caulfield orders a drink, certain he will not be carded, I ordered a Scotch and soda,
which is my favorite drink, next to frozen Daiquiris. If you were only around six years old, you could
get liquor at Ernie s, the place was so dark and all, and besides, nobody cared how old you were (111).
When showing up to Ernie s, Caulfield knows he will receive alcohol as a result of the waiters do not
verify your age.

  • 2. Informative Essay On Cirque Du Soleil Cirque du Soleil The show is full of excitement, it keeps you at the edge of your seat, and it grasps your imaginations. It s not like any other show you ve seen live. The circus brings to life wonderment only seen in dreams. I ve only seen a circus in movies, and the acts mainly consist of uniquely appearing people with special talents, clowns, and animal cruelty fueled performances. It intrigued me (not the animal cruelty part of course). Therefore, I got the idea to find a circus that is alive and thriving today. What I found is sensational; Cirque du Soleil. Cirque du Soleil is an entertainment company that was co founded in the 1984 at Baie Saint Paul, Quebec, Canada by Gilles Ste Croix and Guy Laliberté. It was founded as a tour group for Quebec s 450th anniversary of Jacques Cartier s discovery of Canada. Before then, the performances were simple; they walked on stilts, juggled, and breathed fire ( Cirque du Soleil ). Today, Cirque du Soleil is known for its high flying acrobatics, death defying stunts, and extravagant visuals. Their motto is to invoke the imagination, provoke the senses and evoke the emotions of people around the world, (Kingsford Smith). They combine their mesmerizing gymnastic stunts with a theatre like performance that keeps the audience enticed all throughout their shows. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the United Nations, Female genital mutilation (FGM) comprises all procedures that involve altering or injuring the female genitalia for non medical reasons. Female genital cutting is a practice that is generally directed at female bodied people under the age of 18. International institutions such as the United Nations call it a violation of the rights of the child... [a violation of] the rights to health, security and physical integrity of the person, the right to be free from torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, and the right to life when the procedure results in death. It is a practice that has been proven to not be effectively combatted by international legislation, national legislation, human rights advocacy, or educational programs. However, human beings operate based on cultural and social norms. Female genital cutting is a practice that is enforced by social and cultural norms in the places where it is common. Thus, one of the most effective methods of combatting FGC involves community based organizations, which must work together to create norm based social change in order to alter the cultural beliefs that allow FGC to endure and spread, thereby eliminating or curbing the practice. ... • 5. Object Oriented Programming Essay Designing a Class Tutorial for C++ OOP (Object Oriented Programming) The modern programming is based on the concept that program little and use more . The object oriented programming languages are playing a vital role in the industry of development. The OOP introduced following concepts: Split a program into set of tasks and sub tasks Develop functions for these tasks And reuse these functions with little or less modifications This lead a new term Reusability , which means that you have to write a function once and use the function again and again by calling the Object of that Class in which the function is present. You can also further implement the Class by adopting the rules provided by OOP. C++ is a good example of object oriented programming. Features of OOP There are many features of OOP, but the most common features are: Encapsulation Inheritance Polymorphism Abstraction Contracts Class The class is capsule that is used to encapsulate an abstract data type. When you define a class, you define a blueprint for a data type. The class itself does not defines data, its only gives the name concerning with the objects. Antigone‚Äôs Purpose Brooks Fridey Antigone s Purpose In the story of Antigone, originally written by Sophocles, explains the story, of a woman who stands up for her own beliefs against the king. At the time of Sophocles, women had little power and authority. They were expected to listen to their husband, king, or any man that speaks to or asks a woman of something. The story starts up where the story of Oedipus ends, in his death. Trouble and war are about to begin in Thebes, so Antigone travels there to try and stop what may become of her family and country. From my observations, this story can be analyzed in multiple ways, whether it is about the struggles of women, defying the higher power, or responding to the will of the gods. It is said ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To Antigone, it is not necessary that someone should obey their leader at all times. She believes what Creon declared to happen to her brothers was unfair and that the gods were telling her she needed to bury her brother. Antigone was unapproved to the treatment of women in these times, and that the king must be obeyed in all causes. She believed the gods were the true powers, and bad things would come upon you if you did not cooperate with their requests. When Haemon comes into the story, acknowledged as Antigone s fiancée, who is the son of Creon, makes it clear why Antigone was even still alive. Although Creon was cruel and often harsh, there was still something or someone holding him back from simply killing her. Haemon told his father it would be wrong to kill Antigone and would bring great mourning to the people of Thebes following her death. He wants Creon to be open to others views, but Creon responds by calling Haemon a woman s slave for backing up a woman and not his own father. A blind prophet advises Creon that he should properly bury Polyneices and release Antigone. He says if he does not he will greatly anger the gods, and might create his own misfortune for his disobedience. Possibly leading to his own death. • 9. A Research on African-American Literature African American Literature Introduction The history of African Americans in America has been a tale of relentless desire for the American Dream of freedom and prosperity. White America s reactions to that desire and the resulting struggles in different periods have been faithfully chronicled by Art, Music and Literature. Though there are numerous works recounting racial relations in America, the three assigned readings, To My Old Master, Sonny s Blues and Birmingham Sunday, give exceptional reflections of the 1860 s 1950 s and 1960 s America by notable African Americans. To My Old Master by Jourdon Anderson To My Old Master (Young, 1996, pp. 15 16) is chronologically the first of the three selected readings and is a letter written on August 7, 1865. Written 1 year after the author s emancipation and only 4 months after the end of the American Civil War, Anderson s letter is clearly the product of the struggle between North and South regarding slavery, the emancipation of slaves by the Emancipation Proclamation during the War, and the ability of former slaves to carve a successful niche for themselves as capable and newly free people who were finally given a chance to succeed. The author apparently received correspondence from his former slave owner requesting that Anderson return to Tennessee and work on his former owner s farm. The poem structure is an eight stanza quatrain with a rhyme scheme of ABCB. Is football playing / Along the river shore, / With lads to chase the leather, / Now I stand up no more? (Housman 9 12). Each stanza alternates between questions from the dead man and answers from his friend. Stanzas that are quoted represent the dead man s questions. The stanzas without quotations are responses from the friend who is alive. Each stanza is significant because it reveals a little background of some of the things the dead man participated in. The speaker of the poem is a matter of opinion and how you look at things. One outcome is that it s the dead man literally talking to his friend in some way and they are discussing life. The second thought is that the friend is having internal conflict with himself with the fact that he got with the dead man s wife. It also emphasizes the humans sense of betray and guilt that may follow after the death of a friend. (Arp and Johnson 687). The first reason is so I can help work my way through college. At first I wanted to go for a lawyer so I was looking at seven years of college, but now I am looking to go for business to open my own salon. The second reason is because since I was a little girl I have always loved doing hair. I find that when you do somebodies hair you are actually doing a good deed. They may walk into that salon not feeling as confident as they usually do because their hair is messed up or outgrown, and then when they leave your salon, they feel like a brand new person, and honestly that is what I love most about this occupation. The topics regarding Bear Stearns, the Lehman Brothers and their collapse, and the huge bailout made in results to the market crash. There were great points being made on the mistakes Henry Paulson and Ben Bernanke did not view from their perspective, which in turns were the problems that made up the crash. It was not until 2007 when foreclosures occurred more and became prominent, especially since the last market crash during the Great Depression. As Gretchen Morgenson of the New York Times discusses, Bear Stearns was known for his great plays with mortgages on Wall Street. People who believed Stearns would pull the right decisions became scared as the values of their assets were decreasing. This created a necessitated attitude towards money since their was money being borrowed fighting against the collaterals, in turns the assets. When the assets started to decline, you need to start paying back money to those you have borrowed from. Roughly $1.6 billion was discarded in Stearns decisions, which was the start to the stress he would obtain from the crash. This enabled the world to see how weak the market was, especially those who had a role within the market. When banks also saw the weakness mortgage companies had developed, they decided to raise the cost of borrowing money from them, creating doubts if these mortgage firms, such as Stearns, would be able to solve this ... • 24. Analysis Of Snow White And The Seven Drawfs The film of Snow White and the Seven Drawfs (1938) is directed by David Hand (supervising) an animated musical fantasy that film produced by Walt Disney Productions and originally released by RKO Radio Pictures. The film shows the audience how heroism is the major theme because there are good individuals (i.e. the seven dwarfs, the forest animal and the prince) around whom we can count on to do the right thing even when we are in trouble. Surprisingly, the film story is slightly told differently from the original story written by the Grimm brothers. In effect, Disney removes scenes such as [a mother] eating the lungs and liver of her supposedly dead daughter because that the animated film is addressed to young children(Davis, 2009). Not mention, young children would not understand why a mother would want to kill her own daughter out of jealousy. The movie Snow White and the Seven Drawfs has many themes but heroism is the main focus in this paper. In short, heroism is established through costumes, acting style, and lighting. Heroes are dressed in costumes. This is shown in The Evil Queen s Death scene in which the animal sense danger and after attempting to drive [the Witch] away, rush to the mine to fetch the dwarfs, where they try to warn them.nWhen Sleepy suggests that the Queen has found Snow White, the dwarfs rush home to find that the Witch has succeeded in poisoning the princess and it s about to leave. The dwarfs chase the Witch into the mountains and she reaches the cliff. [The Witch] attempts to crush the dwarfs with a boulder nut a flash of lightning causes her to fall from the cliff and be crushed by the boulder herself (The Disney Wiki). The seven dwarfs costumes are different colored stocking caps, tunic, leggings with a black belt with a rectangular outlined buckle, and medieval style shoes. After, the handsome Prince arrives in a custom wearing a red cape, a blue tunic over a white shirt with gray pants, a dagger sheathed at his left hip and boots to kiss Snow White to break the spell of the Sleeping Death. The heroism theme is established in costumes to become the best version of yourself and approachable to those in need. The heroism theme comes through the acting style in Snow White ... Anna and I had planned to do a fun leaf activity where children could color over leaves on paper or use paint to stamp the leaves on paper. As a teacher, I had many thoughts run through my mind. As the children started to arrive over to our table, they were interested to see what we had. They loved the feeling of the foam paint, but quickly lost interest. The children seemed to be more comfortable at the tables with the activities and art from the previous times. Many of these children need consistency in their life and these Monday nights are probably that one event and time that they get that consistency. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wilderness In The Bible As I remembered the many examples of the wilderness in the Bible I wanted to see how what they have in common could to serve to define what it meant to be in the wilderness. From the stories of Adam and Eve, the people of Israel, Moses, and Jesus being tempted in the wilderness, I found common characteristics of how wilderness was understood. It was a place away from society and with less control. People are often lost and wandering as they experience the wilderness. It is where people go to be tested or punished and people often feel disconnected from God. It is also the place in the New Testament where mentally ill people dwell. Our solution today is knowing that Christ is near in Advent and that He will still reach us in our joy or in our pain. • 28. Modulating Gene Expression with Multiple Intermediate Steps Gene expression can be modulated by multiple intermediate steps, including transcription, post transcriptional modifications, RNA splicing, translation, and post translational modifications; transcription being the first step and a key mechanism for regulating gene expression. Transcriptional control is mediated through promoters and regulatory elements, which are all essential for spatiotemporally correct gene expression. Genome organization has been undoubtedly linked with regulation of gene expression through global analyses of mammalian genomes. Previous hypotheses suggested that genome is arranged as independently regulated chromosomal domains flanked by boundary elements (i.e. insulators). This might be true in compact genomes of organisms such as yeasts (e.g. S. cerevisiae 12.1 Mb), where an uninterrupted genomic segment (i.e. regulatory expression unit) is formed comprising of a particular gene and its regulatory elements. Nevertheless, in more complex genomes such as those of humans (H. sapiens 3.2 Gb) and mouse (M. musculus 2.7 Gb) the situation is substantially more complex, where genes and their regulatory elements can be dispersed over many hundreds of kilobases. These observations concur with current hypotheses, where cis regulatory elements including Locus Control Regions (LCRs), enhancers, silencers, and insulators, may be dispersed over tens to thousands of kilobases. Furthermore, cis regulatory elements of one gene are commonly embedded within a neighbour ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chicago was extremely dry during that year and in fact, many fires had occurred recently in the Windy City before the Great Chicago Fire. Cromie describes the city as an enormous artificial forest, drying out in a sun heated oven (pg 9), since almost everything was made out of wood, from the pine block paving, to fences of pine, to wooden roofs. Chicago also was filled with warehouses with wooden shelves, lumber mills, and paint and varnish shops that contained inflammable items. On page 11, Cromie stated that, Chicago specialized in the production, handling, and storage of combustible goods . All this information showed how easily a fire could spread; Chicago was almost asking for a terrible fire to happen. The cause of the fire is still uncertain today, but it has been speculated about by many researchers. Cromie chose to write about the legend of Mrs. O Learys cow. Although Mrs. O Leary denied any accusations towards her, many people still blamed her cow, who could have knocked over a gas lantern inside a wooden shed near her house. Modernism And The Cultural Logic Of Late Capitalism In general, many of the most urgent theories of modernity, and by extension, the aesthetic revolution of modernism, focus on the development of capitalism and its relation to cultural form. This strain of economic criticism is especially valuable in grasping both the pains and promises of modernity. Additionally, this strain is an attractive approach because it provides a grounded historical method of periodization each stage of capitalism has a dominant mode of artistic production. Fredric Jameson, in his highly influential Postmodernism, or the Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism (1991), uses three stages of capitalism competitive, monopoly, and multinational to create his own corresponding schema of cultural periodization realism, modernism, and postmodernism. However, in The Existence of Italy (1992), Jameson relaxes these categories somewhat by positing the existence of shorter cycles that follow the same trajectory of realism → modernism → postmodernism but occur outside the standard periodization, which is directly linked to specific capitalist phases. Here, cycles is the best description of this phenomenon because it reinforces their relationship to capitalism; Jameson bases his logic of larger periodization on long cycles of economic development. However, this logic s timeline is closely correlated to the core countries of capitalism, which has enabled their cultural form to become the standard. Leadership Studies Minor At Baylor University The Culmination of my Leadership Studies Minor The Leadership Studies Minor at Baylor University provides students with the opportunity to learn about leadership in ways that will be useful in their vocation. Classes in this minor are designed to teach students about the theoretical and practical uses of leadership that are relevant to the work force today. The leadership courses I have taken at Baylor and my time as part of the Leadership Living Learning Center, better known as LEAD, has shaped my opinion of the importance of the Leadership Studies Minor. This paper will examine how the Leadership Studies Minor helped me learn about myself as a leader and guided me to pursue my passions in the next chapter of my life. These roles were similar in that because I had the most authority, based on skill for the tennis team and seniority over my siblings, I felt comfortable in a leadership position. I quickly learned as part of the LEAD program and in my first leadership course, Introduction to Leadership, that being a leader is much more than being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
