Have you ever arrived home from a long day at work and just wanted to go inside and relax?
Who am I kidding of course you have! Then as you walk through the doorway you know
something is wrong, you look around and realize there will be absolutely no relaxing tonight. The
new puppy dog your family just had to have has destroyed your carpet, or maybe you wake in the
middle of the night to several inches of water inside your house. Whatever the situation is, almost
all of us have had to get new carpet fast.

Ok, before I get to far, let me explain what has gotten me involved in carpet. There was always an
interest for me, transforming a barren room into something seemingly completely different in a
matter of days. However the thing that actually prodded me into getting a job at Vickrey Carpet
laying was he lure of learning a trade. I knew I wanted to make money but, laying carpet I would
learn a trade, a specialty if you will that I could always fall back on.
I thought that all I was going to learn was the trade. Oh, how wrong could I have been! I have
learned countless lessons as well as the value of an honest days work. I guarantee that it will

Ordinary World Essay
1. The Hero is Introduced in the Ordinary World I believe the hero or in this case the hero s in the
movie are presented in the 4 min mark. Which is the establishment of the women s national
soccer team and the coach begins putting the team collectively by traveling around the U.S and
observing these incredible players play such as Mia. They love the game of soccer and we see a
glimpse of them playing skillfully not even knowing who the coach is that s watching them play,
the formation of a national team, or even the other players. 2. The Hero Experiences a Call to

Ms. King tells them that if they want to propel women s sports and soccer they shouldn t play
because they are the talent and they make the federation money. 5. Cross the Threshold of the
Special World The team is motivated by the skeptics of the 1999 World Cup who said that the
sport will not be popular and be able to sell out these huge stadiums. So they take on the challenge
and the unknown by promoting the sport unlike any before and entering a world that hasn t been
seen before in women s sports. 6. In the special world, they encounter Tests, Allies, and Enemies
The team encounters lots of tests, allies, and enemies. The test they saw could be seen in selling
out the stadium, convincing the public to watch women s soccer, battling through injuries or
health problems such as fatigue syndrome. As for allies, I believe they see that they have one
another to depend on and help as well as the U.S fans and public who now understand and love the
team. As for the enemies the first thought that comes to mind would be the Norway Women s
national team who were nicknamed the Viking Bitches. Additionally, it can be also said the Chinese
women s national team were also an enemy in the nail biting

Brexit Literature Review
Literature review: In September 2017 Thomas Sampson from The London School of Economics
and Political Science wrote a Literature on Brexit. The title of the literature was Brexit: The
Economics of International Disintegration. In this literature review I will briefly summarise the
literature wrote by Thomas Sampson.
Brexit is a term commonly known as Britain exiting from European Union membership. The
historic referendum on the UK and EU membership held on June 23, 2016. Although majority of
Londoner wanted to stay with EU, 52 percent voters voted to support the leave campaign to leave
European Union. Since World War two the world saw a rising trend of economic development and

For example, every country has different currency and different legislation. They follow
different set of rules and the value of currency differs from one country to another. According to
EU s rule and regulations member states don t pay extra tax because they are a part of single
access market. But for example another country outside of EU needs to pay tax and there is cost
involved when the products or goods cross borders. Since Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein are
not European Union s member states they pay higher tax to enter in European Union area
moreover they are entitled to follow their rules and regulation and their own tariffs. If UK
decides to not to be a part of EEA or single access market they will be subject to trade barriers. As a
result Britain will loss vast amount of profit which they made when they were part of EU.
Due to Brexit London Stock Exchange crashed and it saw trillions of pounds wiped off from UK
s share market. The share market became volatile. The investors of UK s share market decided to
move their funds to other European share market in Germany and Ireland and France. As a result
pound lost its exchange value for the first time in last 15

The Construction Of A Multimillion Dollar Chapel And...
I thought very carefully about what religion I would pick for the final project. What eventually
motivated me to choose the Church of Scientology is the construction of a multimillion dollar
chapel and community center on E. 125th St, which is very close to my community. This is a
strategic attempt to expand the Church of Scientologys base from more affluent areas to urban areas
with younger people.
Whenever I come home from Marist I have to take the Bx15 bus at 125th street to get across the
river to the Bronx. My commute takes me right passed the new Church of Scientology building and

Initially Dianetics developed as a self help system, subsequently Hubbard established his ideas
into a wide ranging set of principles and rituals as part of a new religious movement that he
called Scientology. By August 1950, Hubbard s book had sold 55,000 copies, was selling at the
rate of 4,000 a week and was being translated into French, German and Japanese.
An important segment of Dianetics is auditing which is defined as, the application of Dianetics
or Scientology processes and procedures to someone by a trained auditor. One formal definition
of auditing is: The action of asking a person a question, getting an answer to that question and
acknowledging him for that answer. Auditing in the framework of Dianetics or Scientology, an
activity where a person trained in auditing listens and gives auditing commands to a subject, who
is referred to as a pre clear , or more usually as a pc . Auditing sessions are confidential, the notes
taken by the auditor during auditing sessions, and kept in the pc folder . Auditing involves the
use of processes, which are sets of questions asked or instructions given by an auditor. When the
specific objective of any one process is accomplished, the process is concluded and another can
then be used. By doing this, the pc are said to be able to free themselves from unwanted barriers

Joni Eareckson Quadriplegia
Joni Eareckson Tada once said, Sometimes God permits what he hates to accomplish what he
loves (Goodreads). Since she was born on October 15th, 1949, Joni had always been an athletic,
horse loving young lady ( Sweet Surrender 39). That changed one hot summer day in 1967 when
seventeen year old Joni went to the Chesapeake Bay with her sister and her boyfriend. While
swimming, she dove into the water not knowing that it was shallow. As a result of the shallow
water, Joni hit her head on a rock and broke her neck. Luckily, her sister found her and got her
safely to a hospital. Due to the break in her neck, Joni has had to deal with the life threatening

Joni describes her views on life from before her accident. She had always thought what most girls
and women thought about their lives: They had to have the ideal look . As she told her story, Joni
said, For one thing, my life values have gotten turned from wrong side down to right side up. Even
more, she wants people to know that there are so many other things like friendships, relationships,
and love that matter much more than that ideal look . Instead of focusing on what she wanted
herself to look like, Joni devoted her life to her faith, her marriage, and to her artwork ( Joni s Life
Story ). During her depression, Joni relied heavily on the Bible to give her hope during the
darkest times. Likewise, she didn t give up on her faith and just throw it out the back door
because her life suddenly got extremely difficult. On several occasions, she went to the Word of
God for the answer to her questions and troubles. Joni has not only remained devoted to God,
but also devoted to her husband, Ken. He is constantly supporting her, taking care of her, and
showing his compassion and love. One thing Ken does every day for his wife is flip her over in
the middle of the night to prevent pressure sores from forming on her body. It is often hard for
Joni to display her affection for her husband through a simple hug or kiss. Even though she can t

Saussure s System For Evaluating Linguistics Essay
In Course in General Linguistics , Saussure does two things to develop his system for evaluating
linguistics: he chooses language as his linguistic object and he only incorporates factors into his
model that can be said to be true of all languages over all time. The net result is a very high level
and flexible classification structure, which is more intent on making a developmental framework
for evaluating linguisticsthan necessarily providing tremendous insight into it s more concrete
aspects: rudiments like structure, meaning, morphology, syntax, or phonology.
Others, including Levi Strauss in Structural Anthropology , have used
Saussure s methodology to develop their own models for study in different aspects of human
society. But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I feel he still needed to explicitly say it: that despite all the differences between languages, I
have identified these invariants to be true over all time, and I believe this is because of certain
specific commonalities between all humans, particularly the human desire to create and maintain an
effective and convenient system for communicating ideas with one another. Levi Strauss additional
step provides a sense of completeness to the process; that is to say that the last step provides the
why and what while Saussure s method provides the how .
Incorporating the Levi Strauss step gives us a new line of thought to ponder: engineering and
design. Going through the steps: Structural Anthropology first hypothesizes that myths exist to
provide people with anecdotes to help explain the unanswerable questions of their society such as
life versus death or love, etc. Then Levi
Strauss applies Saussure s method, designating a mythological object, in this case the myth itself,
and then determining a set of invariants true to all myths. The most interesting of these invariants is
the use of categories to deconstruct the events of a story into specific event types, which are
common across all myths. And finally, Levi Strauss uses his myth decomposition to draw
conclusions about the myth s moral and, by extension, the society that uses this myth.

The 1815 Eruption of Mount Tambora
Mount Tambora, located on the Island of Sumbawa, Indonesia is classified as a Stratovolcano.
Also known as a composite volcano, Tambora is a tall conical volcano (cone like structure)
where layers of the walls are built by hardened lava and volcanic ash. The term composite is used
to describe the volcano due to the composite layered structure built from sequential outpourings of
eruptive materials1. Among the most common types of volcanoes, Tambora also shares its
destructive prowess with best known volcanoes such as Krakota (1883) and Vesuvius (79 A.D).
The Island of Sumbawa is located in the middle of the Lesser Sunda Islands chain (a group of
islands in the southern Maritime Southeast Asia) and is in the province of West Nusa Tenggara3.

Understanding the eruptive history of Tambora can provide crucial information needed to detect
and prepare for future events. Furthermore, it is important to test current understanding of plate
tectonics to ensure scientists are adequately prepared to predict where future volcanoes may occur,
using past volcanoes like Tambora as a model. 2.0 Plate Tectonics of Indonesia Indonesia is situated
between two tectonically active plates: Australian and Eurasian plate. It is important to understand
the amount of fault motion between these plates, as it is the major source of influence regarding
eruptions in the region. The result of these tectonically active plates is the creation of the Circum
Pacific belt (termed the Pacific Ring of Fire) and the Alpide Belt. Figure 3 provides a pictorial view
of both plates and their relation to the Circum Pacific belt. The Circum Pacific belt is the world s
greatest earthquake belt, with a series of fault lines stretching 25,00 miles7. An unfortunate
circumstance for the inhabitants of Indonesia who are situated between these two belts, the
eruptions of earthquakes and volcanoes are far too common. Essentially, volcanoes erupt either due
to divergent tectonic plates pulling apart causing an eruption, or convergent tectonic plates coming
together (forming great pressure) causing an eruption8. In the case of Indonesia and the Circum
Pacific belt, the latter is more common. Because Indonesia and

Recruiting The Best While Maximizing Their Talent
Recruiting the Best While Maximizing Their Talent What do firms need to do in order to bring
in the most talented people (from anywhere) and make the fullest possible use of their abilities?
America has legitimate concerns over the growing war for talent. It has reached global
proportions, as a number of high skilled immigrants who were educated in this country are now
embedded in key positions in corporate America s workforce, and are being drawn back to their
native countries. The fact of the matter is that a considerable amount of immigrants come here for
higher education. Half the Americans who won Nobel Prizes were born abroad. More than half of
the people with PhDs working in America are immigrants. (The Economist, 2006) These people
find themselves in corporate giants like Sun Microsystems, Google, and Intel. When countries like
China, actively try to attract back its expats through various strategies, this brings the scenario of
the brain drain to life. However, America has downplayed this fear. McKinsey Global Institute
conducted a study of the off shoring market and concluded that the number of service jobs moving
offshore is much lower than expected. It was feared that jobs in services will follow manufacturing
jobs that are now in the developing countries. Although competing countries in Europe have begun
to realize how it is important to retain talent, America has yet to up its tempo. Today, immigration
officials make it

Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
The novel The Strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is influenced by some various factors.
One of the factors that portray Robert Louis Stevenson s idea about the duality of man s nature
is Sigmund Freud s psychological theory. Freud s tells human behavior is the consequence of
one s id, ego and superego. He says id part is an important part of our personality. For example,
the pleasure of doing whatever we want to like eating or even killing with no consideration of the
situation is our id part of personality. Using this theory, Stevenson portrays a character Dr. Jekyll
that is a superego or the outer face other see and Mr. Hyde, the id that every person try to suppress
because it is unacceptable within the society. Therefore, Stevenson creates a dual identity of... Show

In the novel, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde says, Hence it came about that I concealed my pleasures;
and that when I reached years of reflection, and began to look around me and take stock of my
progress and position in the world, I stood already committed to a profound duplicity of me
(Stevenson 864). The two personalities of Dr. Jekyll are but one; same person but with different
characters that are conflicting with each other. The good, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the evil one
can be represented as the id and superego based on the theory of Sigmund Freud. Dr. Jekyll
behaves through his superego meaning he acts according to the standards of the society;
meanwhile, Mr. Hyde represents the id, which does anything he wants without consideration for
the reality of the society. In general, Dr. Jekyll can be himself when he is as Mr. Hyde. Meaning,
as Mr. Hyde, Dr. Jekyll can express his desire without suffering guilt and without any consideration.
This he cannot do when he changes

Who Is The Protagonist In Fight Club
Fight Club (1999) Fight Club is a drama directed by David Fincher, based on the Chuck Palahniuk

splicing explicit imagery into family films. Throughout the opening twenty to thirty minutes of the
film, until his full introduction, Tyler is implanted in single frames at moments where he would
reflect what the Narrator would want to become (fig 3.1) such as at the self help groups the
Narrator occupies his time with due to his insomnia, showing that the Narrator is still formulating
the personality. This technique is alluded to during Tyler s montage showing his night jobs, where
he cuts single frames of pornographic movies into family movies. (Figure 3.2) Narrator with Tyler

Narrator would rather be doing, such as when the Narrator is on the phone to Marla (Helena

Analysis:
3 different samples of hair was extracted from 3 suspects of the murder and were compared to a
hair left at the crime scene of Mr Mowder (Evidence Hair). The Evidence Hair had a blonde color

Suspect A s hair sample was also blonde with slight shades of light brown. It s width was thin

Suspect C had a shading of light grey and was also thin. On the other hand, Suspect A s hair had
the similar light brown shading with similar thickness. During the experiment, a possible source of
error occurred when tweezers, used for handling the hair samples, were switched and possibly
contaminated the hairs. The hairs collected could had been switched from its rightful evidence bag,
altering the results.
Conclusion:
If each person s hair has different color and width examined on a microscope then the match found
between the suspect;s hair and crime scene hair must be the same person because each person s
hair has different set of characteristics. This hypothesis had been accepted, after comparing each
suspect hair with each other. Although some had come close to being similar to each other like
Suspect A s hair sample color and Suspect C s hair sample color, Suspect A s hair had a light
shade of brown while Suspect C s hair had a light shade of grey. Even when a person s hair bears
many resemblances to another, there will always be something different about them. This makes
each hair unique so the match between two samples must be the same

The Organizational Context Of Practice
Competency Thesis
The Organizational Context of Practice: The West Virginia Department of Health and Human
Resources is a government organization. The West Virginia Department of Health and Human
Resources has different bureau s which addresses needs of the public. The Bureau of Children and
Families serves populations from children, youth, and adults. The Bureau of Children and Families
also ensure facilities are licensed, and the children in those facilities are safe. The licensing unit is
housed within the Bureau of Children. The expectations within the licensing unit are to ensure the
youth housed in those facilities are safe and secure within federal and state regulations. Reviews are
conducted to ensure the children s needs are being met, and that staff has completed trainings,
background checks, and APS/CPS checks. This is done to ensure that the children in state s custody
are receiving care that meets their needs.
The Community Context of Practice: The licensing unit addresses facilities across the state of West
Virginia. Also, due to children being placed out of state, workers travel out of state to those
facilities to ensure they are in compliance with West Virginialaws. The one thing that congregant
care placements lack is addressing the individual needs of each child. Also, employees at the
facilities are often neglectful, and use forceful tactics to deal with children s behaviors. This is not
effective practice and diminishes the system s theory approach

Discussing The Intricate And Intimate Connections Between...
1. Why does Sommers discuss the intricate and intimate connections between herself, her
daughters and her parents on pages 293 295? Why does she look at her family? She says that
Love (as well as writing) involves a radical loss of certainty (295). How does that loss of
certainty apply to writing as well as relationships in Sommers experience? Because of Sommers
love for reading often alludes to her family life, she is able to introduce the reader to her family
and her thoughts behind words in a neat fashion. I assume that her family life has really shaped
her as a person. I think she wants to be be able to absorb lots of information from the world
around her. She says, I want to understand these living, breathing, primary sources all around me.
(295). This quote is important because, it shows the type of mindset Sommers is in. Her
mindset, being one that is willing to be open to new discoveries and different perspectives. She
looks at her family for inspiration from the world. She makes connections between her family
members, the things she s learned from books and other sources shaping her as a person. She
often pondered to herself when her daughter asked for typically feminine items like makeup,
thinking if there is an underlying meaning to it. As a result she states, Love (as well as writing)
involves a radical loss of certainty (295). She shows her readers this loss of certainty in her family
life, as well as in her writing throughout the whole text

Air Force chiefs refused to cooperate. In London the debate over sanctions threatened to lead to
splits in both the Conservative and Labour parties and, whilst most people aanticipated an early
end to the crisis , in Mr. Wilson s words weeks rather than months , the fear of a longer term
struggle was a threat towards sustained national unity. At the United Nations Britain tabled a
resolution calling on all nations to support Britain s measures of economic and financial sanctions
against the illegal regime. In London the Rhodesian High Commissioner, Brigadier Andrew Shaw,
was given 48 hours notice to leave. Apart from token support from South Africa other African
nations united in calling for increased economic action, the recognition of an African Rhodesian
Government in exile and ultimately some form of military action including the arrest of Ian Smith.
At the United Nations Security Council resolutions were submitted by Britain and also one by 36
African states which called for some form of military action to end the rebellion. Officials

Research Paper On San Andreas Fault
The San Andreas Fault is a geologic fault zone between two tectonic plates that runs from San
Francisco south to San Diego in California. It is an area of frequent earthquakes caused by the
plates sliding past each other. It is so called because it runs along the San Andreas Valley. The San
Andreas fault was brought dramatically to world attention in 1906 when sudden displacement along
the fault produced the great San Francisco earthquake and fire. This earthquake was but one of
many that have resulted throughout its life of about 15 20 million years. The entire San Andreas
faultsystem is more than 800 miles long and extends to depths of at least 10 miles within the
Earth. The fault is a complex zone of crushed and broken rock from a few hundred feet to a mile
wide. Many smaller faults branch from and join the San Andreas fault zone. The Pacific plate is
moving northwest in relation to the North American plate, and it is believed that the total
displacement along the fault since its formation more than 30 million years ago has been about
350 mi. Movement along the fault causes earthquakes several thousand occur annually. The earth
moves side to side from time to time because its outer shell is broken into huge, solid plates
floating on a layer of molten rock that has the consistency of slime. These tectonic plates are
constantly jostling each other, like rafts crowded into a small pond, and its along the boundaries
where they meet that most quakes are born. The two plates

False Tuberculin Skin Test Paper
Diagnosis
Diagnosing a TB patient is through taking proper medical history and physical examination to
observe the characteristic symptoms of TB patients which are cough, weight loss, fever and/or
night sweats (for pulmonary TB patients also may complain of coughing of blood) which might
be mild for several months, this is why some patients neglect to see doctors early so they are
kept without treatment for some time leading to the increase of chance of spread of the
organism to other people (12). Other tools of diagnosing are chest x ray especially in pulmonary
TB (3), and doing some tests including sputum smear microscopy that is even though very old
method, it is not only still used but also the most common test used globally. Because of the
improvements of diagnosing procedures and due to WHO approval in 2016, there is increasing in
the use of rapid molecular tests especially in diagnosing pediatric TB which is difficult to diagnose,
and drug resistant TB which can not be detected by microscopy. The current... Show more content

Baseball, Hockey, And Soccer
Cierra Brewington Mrs. Overby College Prep Writing 18 November, 2015 Research Log
Baseball, football, hockey, and soccer, all of these sports are American past times. Most have
their favorite teams in which they follow and some even tail gate at their games. Then you also
have your die hard fans who get dressed up in the team colors and according to team name or
mascot. In some cases like that of Red skin fans that sometimes include fans appropriating Native
Americans by wearing red face paint, head dresses, and war paint. In recent years the Red Skins
and other sports teams have received back lash from the Native American communities demanding
that they change their name and mascot due its racial insensitivity and stereotyping of the Native
American people. Some will debate that sport team names and mascots like that of the Red Skins,
Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves or the Chicago Blackhawks are not offensive but in my personal
opinion Pro sports teams should not be allowed to continue to appropriate race or culture. Most
people don t put too much thought into what we have come to think as generic sport team names
such as Braves, Warriors, Chiefs, and etc. Many do not think of the negative affect these names may
have on Native American communities. Frank Deford from the Morning Addition has spoken to
some Native American activists whom believe, that the use of such nicknames and the display of
dancing costumed mascot who amuse crowds at games manage to perpetuate the

The Ukraine Crisis In Ukraine
Essay A
Introduction
On November 21, 2013, the then president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, suspended the
preparations for the implementation of a publically supported association agreement with the
European Union. As the result of Yanukovych s decision, public protests erupted in the capital city
of Kiev. After months of unrest, the protestors managed to oust Yanukovych, who fled to Russiafor
asylum. Following Yanukovych s ousting, social unrest erupted around the country, especially in
the Russophone eastern and southern regions of Ukraine. As the social unrest quickly evolved into
a political crisis, Moscow moved to secure its interests in the country. Russian military intervention

Officially, bring Ukraine back into the Russian sphere of political and economic influence; causing
tensions to rise among the public, especially in Western Ukraine and its capital city of Kiev. As the

Ultimately, resulting in Yanukovych fleeing to Russia as the protestors created a new interim
government.
Separatist Protectionism Following Yanukovych s departure to Russia on February 23, 2014,
protests by pro Russian and anti Euromaidan citizens began in Crimea. Consequently, similar
demonstrations began in eastern and southern Ukraine, including the Russophone oblasts of
Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, and Odessa. As the Russian military annexed Crimea, the social unrest
in the Donbass region of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts escalated into a pro Russian militancy. The
pro Russian insurgency was further rooted in the region as the new Ukrainian government repealed
the regional language laws in the 2012 Ukrainian Constitution, resulting in the prohibition of
Russian as an official language in Ukraine (Sakwa, 2016). Today, the Ukrainian government is
becoming more pro West as it becomes anti Russia (Sakwa, 2016). The opposite holds true for the

Stock Market Predictability Essay
I will now examine the effectiveness of the Book to Market ratio in predicting stock market
returns. The Book to Market ratio is used to compare the book value and the market value of the
firm. The book value is calculated by the firm s accounting worth. The market value is determined
by the market capitalization in the stock market. It is then found using the formula, Book Value of
the firm / Market Value of the firm. Its purpose is to identify any securities that may be
undervalued or overvalued. From the research of Fama and French (1992), we can see the cross
sectional variation in stock returns can be shown by the book to market ratio of individual stocks.
In Pontiff (1998), there were two measures of the book to market ratio that... Show more content on

However, in the paper s findings, the book to market ratio s predictive power is more prominent
before 1960 as there is no significant relation after 1960. The paper also concludes that after
1960, the S P book to market ratio is a better predictor of market returns than is the DJIA book to
market ratio and the S P book value is better than the DJIA book value in predicting market cash
flow . Therefore, the book to market ratio is a good predictor for future market returns as long as
we have a measure of book value that has high correlation with future cash flows.
Some financial experts argue that certain macroeconomic variables can be used for predicting stock
returns. One such macroeconomic variable is the Consumption to Wealth ratio. I will now examine
how effective this variable is in predicting future stock market returns. The expected excess returns
vary with the growths and dips in the business cycle, therefore, they should be predictable at
different stages of the cycle. To examine the relationship, we note that aggregate consumption, asset
holdings and labour income all share the same long term trend, but in the short term they may
deviate substantially from one another. According to Lettau Ludvigson 2001, we study the role of
these transitory deviations from the common trend in

Corvallis School Schedule
When asked if the Corvallis school district should change their schedule to a full year schedule
with each core class being in each quarter, there is immediate pros and cons that come to mind.
Longer breaks, being done faster with a class, all sound intriguing but you have to really think it
through and put yourself in all the students and faculty s shoes and have to make the decision of,
if the new schedule works for everyone. When you first hear about the schedule and look at its
outline, it sounds pretty solid. More breaks, longer breaks, and the main idea of getting done with
core classes faster. For a student, hearing that sounds pretty good. For example if a student doesn t

A bunch of students at Corvallis come from farm and ranching houses. Their parents rely on
having their child home to help with various chores. Whether it be for irrigating or helping with
the crop or helping with the livestock. All of these are not a one person job, they all require help
and most of the time the help is their kid. If there was a school schedule that went into the summer,
the kids with parents who need their help would be left two options: try to do all the work by
themselves, which takes money, or hire someone to help out, which takes money. In a town like
Corvallis, Montana that schedule doesn t work with a lot of people.
Students already have a tough time with school work. Some kids struggle a lot with certain
subjects. Cramming in one full school year of work into only one quarter could be awful to
students. Looking at the school year that Corvallis has now, students cover lots of material
throughout the year. Even then, there are times when the school work gets overloaded. Trying to fit

Final Three Crusades Essay
Catholicism is a religion based upon the commandments instilled by Jesus Christ Son of God.
The final three crusades were uncontrolled by the pope and led to rape, theft, pillaging, a dark
past that has shaped the future of Catholicism today. The Roman Catholic crusades where
Catholic wars started to try and regain control over Jerusalem (the holy land), and to expand the
religion, the final three crusades however derived from the initial purpose and led to destruction.
The purpose of the research I have done over Roman Catholic Crusades is to get a deeper

The crusades where intended to spread Christianity Universally. However many of the actions
during the crusades did not promote peace as they where intended (William J.). Many Europeans
feeling the need to join the cause in crusades, joined the cause with nothing but wooden crosses,
many people abandoned their homes to join on the journey. Crusades left many people dead in
the Middle East. Jerusalem being the major goal of conquest of the crusaders in the end many of
the crusades failed or simply turned back (Brown, Bryan). Europeans used Crusades to expand
Christianity. The Crusades where considered unsuccessful. Many of them brought tragedy to
local Christians, which was part of the reason of the failure in the crusades. The crusades
however did leave some practices instilled in the later religions that where to be made. Through
these crusades a lot of the new religions adapted practices that are now influential in there
religious practices (William E.). Emilie Gogalak gives us an interesting out look of how crusades
brought together many faiths. She also gives us a belief that maybe the crusades where not

My Mother Speech
My Mother I ve been taught many things by many people in my life, but I believe that the
person who has taught me the most is my mother. My mother has taught me several important
things I will need to know right now as well as when I am older, such as, how to react to
situations, things about the Bible, and how to handle things that involve boys. In the many
times my mother has told me how to react to situations, I haven t always listened, and in the end,
Mom is ALWAYS right. One time I didn t listen to my mother s advice was when I was in
elementary school. A little boy was picking on me and I really didn t like it. I told Momma and
Daddy about it and their responses were completely different. Momma told me to ignore him
and pray for him, but Daddy told me to punch him in the nose. All I m going to say is, I ended up
in the principals office wishing I had taken my mother s advice. Now, enough with all the bad
stuff, let me tell you about a time I actually did listen to my mom. My best friend Laura and I
were having a disagreement on the way we believe. I believe that when you sin, that means
doing something that goes against the Bible, you must ask for forgiveness or you are once
again a sinner. Laura, however, did not believe that. She told me that it was stupid of me to ask
the Lord to forgive me because once I am saved, I am saved forever and I can sin all I want. I told
her otherwise, that caused a great debate between us. I told my mom about this problem and she
told me to say this, Laura, if I am wrong and you are right, what harm will it do for me to ask for
forgiveness? I ll go to heaven either way. But if you are wrong and I am right, you re in for a
whole lot of trouble when it comes time for Jesus to come back. I said that to Laura and so far
the topic has only come up a few times and we are still best friends, all thanks to my mother s
great advice. Now that we re on the topic of beliefs I m going to tell you about some of the things
my mother has taught me about The Bible. I have been in church all my life, so has my mother
and father. My father is a deacon in our church and

Mise En Scene In Psycho
From the quote, we are able to see that all , if not most , of Hitchcock s films seek to play with
the viewer s emotions, often by leaving crumbs of suspense before the action, making the viewers
go through a myriad of emotions. Hence, for Psycho, I will be discussing three scenes where
Hitchcock has deliberately and precisely controlled via the film medium, to engage us. Argobhast
and Norman s conversation scene. In this scene, we see Argobhast s journey towards finding out
the true reason of Marion s disappearance and hence, Hitchcock plays us via Norman and
Argobhast s first interaction. Initially, the scene opens up on a light note, with Norman seen

Upon entering the parlor, Hitchcock has set the stage for the viewer to use Marion as a vehicle
to determine how Norman is like. The POV shot of Marion studying the room first brings out
attention to a stuffed Owl and a stuffed crow, the first indicator to the viewer that something is
not right, making us feel suspicious already. Marion then takes the seat closer to the tiffany lamp
while Norman takes the seat at the opposite side of the room which is noticeably darker. Mise en
scence in this scene does the most to capture the true personalities of the characters. For Marion,
Hitchcock has deliberately surrounded her with objects such as the lamp which is actually the only
source of light for the whole room, a pitcher of milk and several other scenic objects. Furthermore,
the milk may perhaps symbolize innocence that despite the crime committed, there is a redeeming
quality within Marion that will save her. As Marion sits closest to the lamp, her face remains
brightly lit up and similarly casting the same effect towards the objects around her. The viewer
upon seeing Marion, unconsciously feels at ease within her presence, perhaps even forgetting that

Post Revolutionary America By Rosemarie Zagarri
The story of post revolutionary America, writes Rosemarie Zagarri, is the story of how American
women and men sought to define and ultimately to limit and restrict the expansive ideals they had
so successfully deployed against Britain. In this excerpt from Revolutionary Backlash, Zagarri
depicts the extreme radicalism of the American Revolution, while also suggesting that there were
some constraints to its extremism. Unlike the normal way of life in European government and
society, Americans desired a nation in which the inherent rights and freedoms of individuals were
recognized and respected. While these rights and freedoms were ultimately achieved, many groups
of people were still left out. Women of all kinds, people of color,... Show more content on

Since the concept that only wealthy white men are free individuals was a common idea in
European customs, many people argue that the American Revolution was not radical in terms of
Locke s theory. Despite his inclusion of property within his argument, Locke still contends for the
natural rights of all individuals. He does not include the right to own property with the intentions of
excluding women, colored people, or poor men. Locke s meaning is not that only people with
property have natural rights; instead, he includes the term property to claim that individuals of
every race, class, and background have the right to ownership, just as all individuals have the right
to life and liberty. Locke s idea is notably different from the normal concepts about liberty that
encompassed European culture during that time. Therefore, in regards to Locke s theory, the
American Revolution was radical. In addition, the way in which gender roles were altered during
the American Revolution provides evidence of its radicalism. Traditionally, women of any color
had no place within the realms of politics in European culture. Strictly white men of wealth were
allowed to participate in government activities. Zagarri points out that the American Revolution
triggered a continuing argument over the rights of upper class white women in American culture
and their

Universal Health Care And Healthcare
Imagine what your life would be like if you were one of millions of Americans without medical
coverage. Universal health care is a system that will provide for all of citizens for health care and
financial protection. Over millions of Americans are currently without health care coverage for
themselves and also their families. Universal healthcare refers to any system of health care managed
by the governments. This universal health careis a system that may cover different programs such as
government run hospital, health organizations, and programs targeted that provides health care.
Many developed countries such as Canada and United Kingdom have embraced universal health
care with United Statesbeing the only exception that has not embraced universal health care to its
citizens. One of the reasons is that universal health care will ensured that all Americans citizens
to have the right to health care and will decrease health care costs by allowing people to receive
regular and prevent medical care. And not have to wait until they are chronically ill to seek
treatment when medical costs is way much higher. Another reason is health care should be a right
because it will promote equal opportunity by decreasing the number of people who are
economically disadvantaged in society due to bad health and medically related financial trouble.
And they won t have to worry about when they get sick and have to pay. So I really think is a good
idea that the government should provide health

Human immunodeficiency virus is a retrovirus that affects the T cells specifically to the immune

its process. ( T Cell ) In step one, the entry of the virusrequires certain receptors from the host cell
such as a CD4. In addition, these receptors are composed of two glycoproteins that are embedded
in the viral envelope. ( Kestens, P. ) By approaching the target, the cells of a gp120 connects to the
CD4 receptors and the transmembrane gp41 is capable of transferring its information into the cell

Astronomer s Wife Summary
Kay Boyle was born in 1902 to a middle class family in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her family was very
intellectual and exposed her to the arts early in her life. At the age of 11, Boyle attended the
famous Armory Show in New York. She was heavily involved with the avant garde literary scene
in the United States and Paris. She was a prolific writer for important journals and wrote for the
New Yorker and the Nation. Many critics feel Boyle s writing had a strong feminist sensibility
and feel she preceded many other so called feminist writers. In the 1930 s many critics praised her
style and the elegant use of the English language (Barnhisel). During the 1960s, she was involved in
the feminist movement, civil rights, and antiwar movements. Boyle remained active in these causes
until her death in 1992 (Gale). Astronomer s Wife shows how we consider the difference between
body and mind. This is a story of a woman named Mrs. Ames who is dissatisfied with her marriage.
She has requested a plumber come to fix a water leak in her home. Instead of letting the servant
tell the plumber the issue, she follows him as he investigates the pipes. Her interaction with the
plumber allows her to see that she may be able to find happiness in other places. Mrs. Ames feels
her husbandis a dreamer and only concerned with mind things (Di Yanni, 63). I enjoyed reading

Adults and teens alike know the possible risks of sexual content, yet it is still a growing problem.
Any sexual contact without proper prevention can put us at risk of an STI. This is part of the
reason why that there are twenty million new cases of STIs every year. In 2015, it was discovered
that teens ages thirteen to twenty four account for over twenty three percent of all HIVcases in the

causes mild skin irritations or painful lesions. When herpes spreads to the genitals, it is known as

infection has always been extremely common, and is usually not noticeable.
Technological advances have allowed some STIs to become curable. Gonorrhea is one of these.
Gonorrhea is a bacteria that infects different membranes in the genital area. Some are the
urinary tract and cervix. It can also possibly infect the eyes and throat. The CDC shows that

Essay On Roanoke
There are a multitude of mysteries in life, some greater than others. Some mysteries are solvable,
and some we can only create solutions for in both well made and sloppily built theories. America
itself has had its fair share of mysteries, some bigger than others, but by far one of the oldest may
be the mysterious conditions surrounding the lost colony of roanoke. In current day North
Carolina resides a series of small island; and within this cluster of islands lives Roanoke. It s
name comes from the very mystery that haunts the place, Roanoke Colony. Almost 500 years ago,
100 or so men, women, and children disappeared somewhere over the course of 3 years. Among
these colonists were Eleanor Dare and her daughter, the first english child to be born in what would
be modern day... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second colony fell under the same circumstances, though the hostility between the colonists and
natives was more strained. When the third expedition finally came around, it was led not by Sir
Walter Raleigh, but instead by english artist John White ( Ancient Origins.net;
Encyclopediavirginia.org ). It was at this point the tensions between the colonists and the natives
relaxed enough for relatively friendly communications to begin. The hostility fell away when it
was realized that White had brought along not only male colonists, but women and children,
including his daughter Eleanor Dare and her husband, Annaise Dare. Her child, Virginia Dare, was
the first english child born in the americas ( history.com ). With their relations greatly improving
with local natives, it seemed as though the english colony of Roanoke was faring much better than
its predecessors. Unfortunately, not unlike the previous colonies, they began to suffer from a
severe lack of resources. In the year 1587, John White left Roanoke and sailed back to england in
hopes of returning with more supplies. His departure, however, occurred during a

Local And National Provision For Football The game of Football was first organised in England

Similarities Between Animal Farm And Mouseland
Honore de Balzac once said Equality may perhaps be a right, but no power on it can ever turn it
into a fact. This quote connects to the theme With power there s never true equality. Because
although equality should be a given, while there is power present in society, it will never
happen. Animal Farm by George Orwell is a novel about a farm that is overtaken by its animals.
They assign one pig, Napoleon, to power. He began to only benefit the pigs and the other animals
were often oppressed. Mouseland by Tommy Douglas is a story about cats leading a town of mice,
and making rules that only benefitted the cat, and endangered the mice. The common theme in both
these stories is similar to the theme the quote presented, With power there s never true equality. The
authors of both Animal Farm and Mouseland use the narrative techniques of conflict and
characterization to illustrate political messages about power and equality.
The first narrative technique used to illustrate the theme was conflict. One example of theme
being illustrated through conflict was in Animal Farm when the pigs stole all the milk and apples
from the other animals. On page 36 of the novel it says It is for your sake that we drink that milk
and eat those apples. Do you know what would happen if we pigs failed out duty? Jones would
come back! This quote shows the pigs manipulating the other animals into believing that them
taking the milk and apples is benefitting them by saying if they didn t eat

Description:
We should dress appropriately for the positions we apply; therefore we should research the

inappropriate. However, there are some guidelines that we should follow, such as skirt should not
be above knee, no open toe shoes, do not use backpack, clothes should not be too tight, bright, or
with animal prints, limit jewelries, and hair should be clean and neat. In addition, we should not
wear perfume because it might cause allergic reactions for some people such as your interviewees.

Craig Ferguson s Journey To America
With the exception of most comedians, celebrities are an attractive group of people. The female
celebrities often boast large breasts, full lips, and flowing locks of their chosen hair color (usually
blonde); while their male counterparts come equipped with bulging biceps, toned torsos, and
chiseled jawlines. A combination of natural good looks and the money to purchase the finest clothes
and beauty products on the market places celebrities far above the common peoplewhen it comes to
appearance.
Of course, having all that money can often lead to some pretty irresponsible decisions. While it
can indeed be spent on hair gel, makeup, and plastic surgery, many celebrities find themselves

Relationship Between Cinema And Cinema
Architecture is a slow and mute medium that is experienced gradually and spatially, often presented
to us through a sequence of images. The mere arrangement of these images has a direct impact on
the way we experience and interact with a space, which is explicitly in conjunction with the
discipline of cinema. Cinema, as a fast and transparent medium, has an uncanny ability to magnify
and augment this spatial experience through the strategic manipulation of the composition seen
within a frame. The relationship between cinema and architectureis evident, on account that cinema
employs the power of a narrativeto convey a meaningful message, and pictorial symbolism in its
framing of architecture. However, excluding the obvious parallels of composition and organization
between the two forms of art, they differ quite definitively on the basis of representation. As such,
the presented approach attempts to identify the relevant narrative concepts within architecture and
cinema so as to reveal the hidden undertone that may or may not directly influence our experience
of a space. Storytelling, as a form of narrative, is experienced cerebrally and has enabled cultures to
immortalize their fables and encounters. Architectural narratives, on the other hand, are
experienced spatially, i.e. through a series of physical patterns and concepts that articulate place and
meaning within a physical structure. Per se, architecture and architects, through the weaving of a
compelling narrative,

Analysis Of The Movie Miss Julie
Creating Reality in Theater Theater was about attracting the middle class crowd to see their play
but also to please the audience. For many years in theater, much of it presented false or unrealistic
concepts. Many authors of playwrights were accustomed to the idea of displaying productions that
were not likely happen in real life. Around the late 19th century, there was a push for creating more
of an authentic and truthful piece of work. Realism was a movement that highlighted the
representation of familiar things in a way that is accurate or true to life (Google). Reality is the
state of things as they actually exist and is the perception of things as they actual exists (Google). In
Miss Julie written by August Strindberg, this play displayed his attempt at representing realism.
Creating reality in theater requires implanting realistic points such as characters, actions, and
dialogue that is accurate to real life. Foremost, characters are a main part of a play. Establishing
characters with relatable backgrounds to people and depth makes the work more believable to the
viewer or reader. Miss Julie, who is twenty five years of age and the main character, she reveals a
lot of information about her past. I learnt from her to mistrust and hate men, for, so far as I could
hear, she always hated men and I swore to her that I would never be a man s slave ( Strindberg
30). The quote gives the reader background information about her mother s past. Her mother spent

Judith Jarvison Thomson On Abortion
In this paper I will discus and examine Judith Jarvis Thomson s view upon abortion as stated in
her argument A Defense of Abortion . I will explain her view on the issue and look deeper into her
supporting arguments she included in her essay. I will also explain whether I agree with her
statements. I would also discuss whether the person can agree with my statements and reason why
having an abortionmake you in moral.
In her opening statement she first starts of stating a fetus is consider to be a human being or a
person from the moment of conception. They have the right to life just like any other person does.
In lines 1 10 Most opposition to abortion relies on the premise that the fetus is a human being, a
person, from the moment of conception. ( Thomson, Judith Jarvis. A Defense of Abortion. Judith
Jarvis Thomson: A Defense of Abortion, Oct. 1991,spot.colorado.edu/~heathwoo/Phil160,Fall02

human being or an adult, to what makes us a human being or an adult. In her first example she
talks about an acorn falling from an oak tree automatically being consider to be an oak tree or to
be still labeled as an acorn. In lines 10 14 Similar things might be said about the development of
an acorn into an oak trees, and it does not follow that acorns are oak trees, or that we had better say
they are. ( Thomson, Judith Jarvis. A Defense of Abortion. Judith Jarvis Thomson: A Defense of

an evolutionary process in that it is always growing and changing much like the world. Thomas
Keller is a very, very successful chef given that he didn t attend any special, high priced culinary

He later began cooking at the same restaurant. Further down the line, in Narragansett, Rhode

the members of the club. Henin also mentioned that the staff stopped their incessant whining, or
as Henin said bitching , a few days after Keller was hired as staff chef. Keller was able to gain
approval with attention and care in detail. He cooked with an emotion that just screamed love
for his work. That landed him his upgrade to night saucier, which is right under sous chef.
Becoming night saucier led him to learning the fundamentals of classic cooking. Keller mentions
that this was a turning point in his career, he became very serious about cooking. Keller
describes that Henin taught him how the great cooks operated and that their job also requires the
nurturing of people. Keller went on to work for various establishments in Florida and New York.
He then decided it was time to move to Paris in 1983, where he worked for various Michelin
starred restaurants such as Guy Savoy. He returned to New York a short time later to La Reserve
which gained him critical attention as chef de cuisine. He then cofounded a restaurant with Serge

Blaming Gorbachev for the Collapse of the Soviet Union Essay

There is no doubt Gorbachev played a prominent role in the fall of communism in the USSR and

the political ways of his predecessors he was openly attacking Stalin. He believed no blank pages

towards the investigation of Lennin. In 1986 new editors were also brought in to run Moskovskie

Gorbachev told the Central Committee who elected him that when the people are elected, the more

of the past information to define the good and the bad actions of the Soviet Union he believed the
people would make a concerted effort in restructuring the economy and participating in reforming

What Is Voldemort Loss Of Power
Call him Voldemort, Harry. Always use the proper name for things. Fear of a name increases fear
of the thing itself. Voldemort s power became so prominent at one time that people refused to even
speak his name. His power seemed to diminish after his assassination attempt on Harry Potter, but
he slowly built that power back up to seek revenge.
Voldemort s power diminished when he attempted to murder the Potter family, specifically a
young baby name Harry. What they re saying, she pressed on, is that last night Voldemort turned

He spent years trying to gather back the power he lost that night, never quite succeeding in gaining
the power back. In fact, Voldemort s only success was finding people to continue to fend off of
and steal power from. This wasn t enough once faced with Harry Potter again. Harry s defeat
against Voldemort set Voldemort back even more but didn t succeed in destroying the dark
wizard completely. Yes, sir. Well, Voldemort s going to try other ways of coming back, isn t he?
I mean, he hasn t gone, has he? No, Harry, he has not. He is still out there somewhere, perhaps
looking for another body to share... not being truly alive, he cannot be killed. He left Quirrell to
die; he shows just as little mercy to his followers as his enemies. Nevertheless, Harry, while you
may only have delayed his return to power, it will merely take someone else who is prepared to
fight what seems a losing battle next time and if he is delayed again, and again, why, he may
never return to power. Perhaps Voldemort s ambitions and desire for revenge dominates his entire
being in such a way that he ends up relying solely on them to

Medical Malpractice Lawsuits Essay
Introduction:Medical malpractice lawsuits are an extremely serious topic and have affected
numerous patients, doctors, and hospitals across the country. Medical malpractice is defined as
improper, unskilled or negligent treatment of a patient by a physician, dentist, nurse, pharmacist, or
other health care professional (Medical malpractice, n.d.). If a doctor acts negligent and causes
harm to a patient, malpractice lawsuits arise. Negligence is the concept of the liability concerning
claims of medical malpractice, making this type of litigation part of tort law. Tort law provides
that one person may litigate negligence to recover damages for personal injury. Negligence laws

Basic Requirements for a Claim: In order to claim that a doctor or hospital was negligent in a
medical malpractice case, there must be specific requirements present. First off a doctor patient
relationship must have existed (Boeschen, 2014). An individual making the claim must show
that there was a physician patient relationship with the doctor being sued. This means the doctor
was hired and agreed to be hired for the medical care provided. If a doctor began seeing you and
treating you, it is easy to prove a physician patient relationship existed. Second the plaintiff must
show the doctor was negligent. Regardless of if the patient is unhappy with their treatment or
results, does not determine the doctor is liable for medical malpractice. The doctor must have
been negligent not reasonably skillful and careful in a diagnosis or treatment (Boeschen, 2014).
To sue for malpractice, you must be able to show that the doctor caused you harm in a way that a
competent doctor, under the same circumstances would not have (Boeschen, 2014). In many
cases, the doctor s care is not required to be the best possible, but simply reasonably skillful and
careful (Boeschen, 2014). Whether or not the doctor was reasonably skillful and careful is often up
to the medical malpractice claim. Another basic requirement of a medical malpractice claim is
whether or not the doctor s negligence caused the injury. Many malpractice cases involve patients
that were already

Should Mountaintop Removal Be Banned
Since the 1970s, mountaintop removal continues to destroy millions of acres of land and hundreds
of mountains primarily in eastern Kentucky, southern West Virginia, southwestern Virginia, and

threatened by the explosions and the toxic waste that can potentially harm them. Mountaintop
removal also has a big impact deforestation which can cause global warmingand lead to many

Then as you walk through the doorway you know something is wrong, you look around and realize there will be absolutely no relaxing tonight. The new puppy dog your family just had to have has destroyed your carpet, or maybe you wake in the middle of the night to several inches of water inside your house. Whatever the situation is, almost all of us have had to get new carpet fast. The words that usually run through peoples heads first are oh no. The second words are usually what am I going to do? The answer is simple give Vickrey carpet laying a call. We will take care of everything! Ok, before I get to far, let me explain what has gotten me involved in carpet. There was always an interest for me, transforming a barren room into something seemingly completely different in a matter of days. However the thing that actually prodded me into getting a job at Vickrey Carpet laying was he lure of learning a trade. I knew I wanted to make money but, laying carpet I would learn a trade, a specialty if you will that I could always fall back on. I thought that all I was going to learn was the trade. Oh, how wrong could I have been! I have learned countless lessons as well as the value of an honest days work. I guarantee that it will never cease to surprise you what a job that will teach you especially for a young person. This has helped me completely turn my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Which is the establishment of the women s national soccer team and the coach begins putting the team collectively by traveling around the U.S and observing these incredible players play such as Mia. They love the game of soccer and we see a glimpse of them playing skillfully not even knowing who the coach is that s watching them play, the formation of a national team, or even the other players. 2. Ms. King tells them that if they want to propel women s sports and soccer they shouldn t play because they are the talent and they make the federation money. 5. Cross the Threshold of the Special World The team is motivated by the skeptics of the 1999 World Cup who said that the sport will not be popular and be able to sell out these huge stadiums. So they take on the challenge and the unknown by promoting the sport unlike any before and entering a world that hasn t been seen before in women s sports. 6. In the special world, they encounter Tests, Allies, and Enemies The team encounters lots of tests, allies, and enemies. The test they saw could be seen in selling out the stadium, convincing the public to watch women s soccer, battling through injuries or health problems such as fatigue syndrome. As for allies, I believe they see that they have one another to depend on and help as well as the U.S fans and public who now understand and love the team. As for the enemies the first thought that comes to mind would be the Norway Women s national team who were nicknamed the Viking Bitches. Additionally, it can be also said the Chinese women s national team were also an enemy in the nail biting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The title of the literature was Brexit: The Economics of International Disintegration. In this literature review I will briefly summarise the literature wrote by Thomas Sampson. Brexit is a term commonly known as Britain exiting from European Union membership. The historic referendum on the UK and EU membership held on June 23, 2016. Although majority of Londoner wanted to stay with EU, 52 percent voters voted to support the leave campaign to leave European Union. According to EU s rule and regulations member states don t pay extra tax because they are a part of single access market. But for example another country outside of EU needs to pay tax and there is cost involved when the products or goods cross borders. Since Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein are not European Union s member states they pay higher tax to enter in European Union area moreover they are entitled to follow their rules and regulation and their own tariffs. If UK decides to not to be a part of EEA or single access market they will be subject to trade barriers. As a result Britain will loss vast amount of profit which they made when they were part of EU. Due to Brexit London Stock Exchange crashed and it saw trillions of pounds wiped off from UK s share market. The share market became volatile. • 5. The Construction Of A Multimillion Dollar Chapel And... I thought very carefully about what religion I would pick for the final project. What eventually motivated me to choose the Church of Scientology is the construction of a multimillion dollar chapel and community center on E. 125th St, which is very close to my community. This is a strategic attempt to expand the Church of Scientologys base from more affluent areas to urban areas with younger people. Whenever I come home from Marist I have to take the Bx15 bus at 125th street to get across the river to the Bronx. My commute takes me right passed the new Church of Scientology building and community center. The construction site fascinated me, every time my bus drove past it I wondered what was the purpose of the Church of Scientology. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initially Dianetics developed as a self help system, subsequently Hubbard established his ideas into a wide ranging set of principles and rituals as part of a new religious movement that he called Scientology. By August 1950, Hubbard s book had sold 55,000 copies, was selling at the rate of 4,000 a week and was being translated into French, German and Japanese. An important segment of Dianetics is auditing which is defined as, the application of Dianetics or Scientology processes and procedures to someone by a trained auditor. One formal definition of auditing is: The action of asking a person a question, getting an answer to that question and acknowledging him for that answer. Auditing in the framework of Dianetics or Scientology, an activity where a person trained in auditing listens and gives auditing commands to a subject, who is referred to as a pre clear , or more usually as a pc . Auditing sessions are confidential, the notes taken by the auditor during auditing sessions, and kept in the pc folder . Auditing involves the use of processes, which are sets of questions asked or instructions given by an auditor. • 6. Joni Eareckson Quadriplegia Joni Eareckson Tada once said, Sometimes God permits what he hates to accomplish what he loves (Goodreads). Since she was born on October 15th, 1949, Joni had always been an athletic, horse loving young lady ( Sweet Surrender 39). That changed one hot summer day in 1967 when seventeen year old Joni went to the Chesapeake Bay with her sister and her boyfriend. While swimming, she dove into the water not knowing that it was shallow. As a result of the shallow water, Joni hit her head on a rock and broke her neck. Luckily, her sister found her and got her safely to a hospital. Due to the break in her neck, Joni has had to deal with the life threatening condition of quadriplegia, or paralysis from the shoulders down without the use of her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Joni describes her views on life from before her accident. She had always thought what most girls and women thought about their lives: They had to have the ideal look . As she told her story, Joni said, For one thing, my life values have gotten turned from wrong side down to right side up. Even more, she wants people to know that there are so many other things like friendships, relationships, and love that matter much more than that ideal look . Instead of focusing on what she wanted herself to look like, Joni devoted her life to her faith, her marriage, and to her artwork ( Joni s Life Story ). During her depression, Joni relied heavily on the Bible to give her hope during the darkest times. Likewise, she didn t give up on her faith and just throw it out the back door because her life suddenly got extremely difficult. On several occasions, she went to the Word of God for the answer to her questions and troubles. Joni has not only remained devoted to God, but also devoted to her husband, Ken. He is constantly supporting her, taking care of her, and showing his compassion and love. One thing Ken does every day for his wife is flip her over in the middle of the night to prevent pressure sores from forming on her body. It is often hard for Joni to display her affection for her husband through a simple hug or kiss. Even though she can t physically show her devotion to him, she praises and ... • 7. Saussure s System For Evaluating Linguistics Essay In Course in General Linguistics , Saussure does two things to develop his system for evaluating linguistics: he chooses language as his linguistic object and he only incorporates factors into his model that can be said to be true of all languages over all time. The net result is a very high level and flexible classification structure, which is more intent on making a developmental framework for evaluating linguisticsthan necessarily providing tremendous insight into it s more concrete aspects: rudiments like structure, meaning, morphology, syntax, or phonology. Others, including Levi Strauss in Structural Anthropology , have used Saussure s methodology to develop their own models for study in different aspects of human society. But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But I feel he still needed to explicitly say it: that despite all the differences between languages, I have identified these invariants to be true over all time, and I believe this is because of certain specific commonalities between all humans, particularly the human desire to create and maintain an effective and convenient system for communicating ideas with one another. Levi Strauss additional step provides a sense of completeness to the process; that is to say that the last step provides the why and what while Saussure s method provides the how . Incorporating the Levi Strauss step gives us a new line of thought to ponder: engineering and design. Going through the steps: Structural Anthropology first hypothesizes that myths exist to provide people with anecdotes to help explain the unanswerable questions of their society such as life versus death or love, etc. Then Levi Strauss applies Saussure s method, designating a mythological object, in this case the myth itself, and then determining a set of invariants true to all myths. The most interesting of these invariants is the use of categories to deconstruct the events of a story into specific event types, which are common across all myths. And finally, Levi Strauss uses his myth decomposition to draw conclusions about the myth s moral and, by extension, the society that uses this myth. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The 1815 Eruption of Mount Tambora Mount Tambora, located on the Island of Sumbawa, Indonesia is classified as a Stratovolcano. Also known as a composite volcano, Tambora is a tall conical volcano (cone like structure) where layers of the walls are built by hardened lava and volcanic ash. The term composite is used to describe the volcano due to the composite layered structure built from sequential outpourings of eruptive materials1. Among the most common types of volcanoes, Tambora also shares its destructive prowess with best known volcanoes such as Krakota (1883) and Vesuvius (79 A.D). The Island of Sumbawa is located in the middle of the Lesser Sunda Islands chain (a group of islands in the southern Maritime Southeast Asia) and is in the province of West Nusa Tenggara3. ... Furthermore, it is important to test current understanding of plate tectonics to ensure scientists are adequately prepared to predict where future volcanoes may occur, using past volcanoes like Tambora as a model. 2.0 Plate Tectonics of Indonesia Indonesia is situated between two tectonically active plates: Australian and Eurasian plate. It is important to understand the amount of fault motion between these plates, as it is the major source of influence regarding eruptions in the region. The result of these tectonically active plates is the creation of the Circum Pacific belt (termed the Pacific Ring of Fire) and the Alpide Belt. Figure 3 provides a pictorial view of both plates and their relation to the Circum Pacific belt. The Circum Pacific belt is the world s greatest earthquake belt, with a series of fault lines stretching 25,00 miles7. An unfortunate circumstance for the inhabitants of Indonesia who are situated between these two belts, the eruptions of earthquakes and volcanoes are far too common. Essentially, volcanoes erupt either due to divergent tectonic plates pulling apart causing an eruption, or convergent tectonic plates coming together (forming great pressure) causing an eruption8. In the case of Indonesia and the Circum Pacific belt, the latter is more common. Because Indonesia and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Recruiting The Best While Maximizing Their Talent Recruiting the Best While Maximizing Their Talent What do firms need to do in order to bring in the most talented people (from anywhere) and make the fullest possible use of their abilities? America has legitimate concerns over the growing war for talent. It has reached global proportions, as a number of high skilled immigrants who were educated in this country are now embedded in key positions in corporate America s workforce, and are being drawn back to their native countries. The fact of the matter is that a considerable amount of immigrants come here for higher education. Half the Americans who won Nobel Prizes were born abroad. More than half of the people with PhDs working in America are immigrants. (The Economist, 2006) These people find themselves in corporate giants like Sun Microsystems, Google, and Intel. When countries like China, actively try to attract back its expats through various strategies, this brings the scenario of the brain drain to life. However, America has downplayed this fear. McKinsey Global Institute conducted a study of the off shoring market and concluded that the number of service jobs moving offshore is much lower than expected. It was feared that jobs in services will follow manufacturing jobs that are now in the developing countries. Although competing countries in Europe have begun to realize how it is important to retain talent, America has yet to up its tempo. Today, immigration officials make it ... One of the factors that portray Robert Louis Stevenson s idea about the duality of man s nature is Sigmund Freud s psychological theory. Freud s tells human behavior is the consequence of one s id, ego and superego. He says id part is an important part of our personality. For example, the pleasure of doing whatever we want to like eating or even killing with no consideration of the situation is our id part of personality. In the novel, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde says, Hence it came about that I concealed my pleasures; and that when I reached years of reflection, and began to look around me and take stock of my progress and position in the world, I stood already committed to a profound duplicity of me (Stevenson 864). The two personalities of Dr. Jekyll are but one; same person but with different characters that are conflicting with each other. The good, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the evil one can be represented as the id and superego based on the theory of Sigmund Freud. Dr. Jekyll behaves through his superego meaning he acts according to the standards of the society; meanwhile, Mr. Hyde represents the id, which does anything he wants without consideration for the reality of the society. • 20. Research Paper On San Andreas Fault The San Andreas Fault is a geologic fault zone between two tectonic plates that runs from San Francisco south to San Diego in California. It is an area of frequent earthquakes caused by the plates sliding past each other. It is so called because it runs along the San Andreas Valley. The San Andreas fault was brought dramatically to world attention in 1906 when sudden displacement along the fault produced the great San Francisco earthquake and fire. This earthquake was but one of many that have resulted throughout its life of about 15 20 million years. The entire San Andreas faultsystem is more than 800 miles long and extends to depths of at least 10 miles within the Earth. The fault is a complex zone of crushed and broken rock from a few hundred feet to a mile wide. Many smaller faults branch from and join the San Andreas fault zone. The Pacific plate is moving northwest in relation to the North American plate, and it is believed that the total displacement along the fault since its formation more than 30 million years ago has been about 350 mi. Movement along the fault causes earthquakes several thousand occur annually. The earth moves side to side from time to time because its outer shell is broken into huge, solid plates floating on a layer of molten rock that has the consistency of slime. These tectonic plates are constantly jostling each other, like rafts crowded into a small pond, and its along the boundaries where they meet that most quakes are born. The two plates ... • 30. My Mother Speech My Mother I ve been taught many things by many people in my life, but I believe that the person who has taught me the most is my mother. My mother has taught me several important things I will need to know right now as well as when I am older, such as, how to react to situations, things about the Bible, and how to handle things that involve boys. In the many times my mother has told me how to react to situations, I haven t always listened, and in the end, Mom is ALWAYS right. One time I didn t listen to my mother s advice was when I was in elementary school. A little boy was picking on me and I really didn t like it. I told Momma and Daddy about it and their responses were completely different. Momma told me to ignore him and pray for him, but Daddy told me to punch him in the nose. All I m going to say is, I ended up in the principals office wishing I had taken my mother s advice. Now, enough with all the bad stuff, let me tell you about a time I actually did listen to my mom. My best friend Laura and I were having a disagreement on the way we believe. I believe that when you sin, that means doing something that goes against the Bible, you must ask for forgiveness or you are once again a sinner. Laura, however, did not believe that. She told me that it was stupid of me to ask the Lord to forgive me because once I am saved, I am saved forever and I can sin all I want. I told her otherwise, that caused a great debate between us. I told my mom about this problem and she told me to say this, Laura, if I am wrong and you are right, what harm will it do for me to ask for forgiveness? I ll go to heaven either way. • 31. Mise En Scene In Psycho From the quote, we are able to see that all , if not most , of Hitchcock s films seek to play with the viewer s emotions, often by leaving crumbs of suspense before the action, making the viewers go through a myriad of emotions. Hence, for Psycho, I will be discussing three scenes where Hitchcock has deliberately and precisely controlled via the film medium, to engage us. Argobhast and Norman s conversation scene. In this scene, we see Argobhast s journey towards finding out the true reason of Marion s disappearance and hence, Hitchcock plays us via Norman and Argobhast s first interaction. Initially, the scene opens up on a light note, with Norman seen reading and eating candy and as the non diegetic ominous sound slowly disappearing,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Upon entering the parlor, Hitchcock has set the stage for the viewer to use Marion as a vehicle to determine how Norman is like. The POV shot of Marion studying the room first brings out attention to a stuffed Owl and a stuffed crow, the first indicator to the viewer that something is not right, making us feel suspicious already. Marion then takes the seat closer to the tiffany lamp while Norman takes the seat at the opposite side of the room which is noticeably darker. Mise en scence in this scene does the most to capture the true personalities of the characters. For Marion, Hitchcock has deliberately surrounded her with objects such as the lamp which is actually the only source of light for the whole room, a pitcher of milk and several other scenic objects. Furthermore, the milk may perhaps symbolize innocence that despite the crime committed, there is a redeeming quality within Marion that will save her. As Marion sits closest to the lamp, her face remains brightly lit up and similarly casting the same effect towards the objects around her. • 32. Post Revolutionary America By Rosemarie Zagarri The story of post revolutionary America, writes Rosemarie Zagarri, is the story of how American women and men sought to define and ultimately to limit and restrict the expansive ideals they had so successfully deployed against Britain. In this excerpt from Revolutionary Backlash, Zagarri depicts the extreme radicalism of the American Revolution, while also suggesting that there were some constraints to its extremism. Unlike the normal way of life in European government and society, Americans desired a nation in which the inherent rights and freedoms of individuals were recognized and respected. While these rights and freedoms were ultimately achieved, many groups of people were still left out. Women of all kinds, people of color,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the concept that only wealthy white men are free individuals was a common idea in European customs, many people argue that the American Revolution was not radical in terms of Locke s theory. Despite his inclusion of property within his argument, Locke still contends for the natural rights of all individuals. He does not include the right to own property with the intentions of excluding women, colored people, or poor men. Locke s meaning is not that only people with property have natural rights; instead, he includes the term property to claim that individuals of every race, class, and background have the right to ownership, just as all individuals have the right to life and liberty. Locke s idea is notably different from the normal concepts about liberty that encompassed European culture during that time. Therefore, in regards to Locke s theory, the American Revolution was radical. In addition, the way in which gender roles were altered during the American Revolution provides evidence of its radicalism. Traditionally, women of any color had no place within the realms of politics in European culture. Strictly white men of wealth were allowed to participate in government activities. Zagarri points out that the American Revolution triggered a continuing argument over the rights of upper class white women in American culture and their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many developed countries such as Canada and United Kingdom have embraced universal health care with United Statesbeing the only exception that has not embraced universal health care to its citizens. One of the reasons is that universal health care will ensured that all Americans citizens to have the right to health care and will decrease health care costs by allowing people to receive regular and prevent medical care. And not have to wait until they are chronically ill to seek treatment when medical costs is way much higher. Another reason is health care should be a right because it will promote equal opportunity by decreasing the number of people who are economically disadvantaged in society due to bad health and medically related financial trouble. At the age of 11, Boyle attended the famous Armory Show in New York. She was heavily involved with the avant garde literary scene in the United States and Paris. She was a prolific writer for important journals and wrote for the New Yorker and the Nation. In the 1930 s many critics praised her style and the elegant use of the English language (Barnhisel). During the 1960s, she was involved in the feminist movement, civil rights, and antiwar movements. Boyle remained active in these causes until her death in 1992 (Gale). Astronomer s Wife shows how we consider the difference between body and mind. This quote connects to the theme With power there s never true equality. Because although equality should be a given, while there is power present in society, it will never happen. Animal Farm by George Orwell is a novel about a farm that is overtaken by its animals. They assign one pig, Napoleon, to power. He began to only benefit the pigs and the other animals were often oppressed. Mouseland by Tommy Douglas is a story about cats leading a town of mice, and making rules that only benefitted the cat, and endangered the mice. The common theme in both these stories is similar to the theme the quote presented, With power there s never true equality. The authors of both Animal Farm and Mouseland use the narrative techniques of conflict and characterization to illustrate political messages about power and equality. The first narrative technique used to illustrate the theme was conflict. One example of theme being illustrated through conflict was in Animal Farm when the pigs stole all the milk and apples from the other animals. The mere arrangement of these images has a direct impact on the way we experience and interact with a space, which is explicitly in conjunction with the discipline of cinema. Cinema, as a fast and transparent medium, has an uncanny ability to magnify and augment this spatial experience through the strategic manipulation of the composition seen within a frame. The relationship between cinema and architectureis evident, on account that cinema employs the power of a narrativeto convey a meaningful message, and pictorial symbolism in its framing of architecture. However, excluding the obvious parallels of composition and organization between the two forms of art, they differ quite definitively on the basis of representation. As such, the presented approach attempts to identify the relevant narrative concepts within architecture and cinema so as to reveal the hidden undertone that may or may not directly influence our experience of a space. Storytelling, as a form of narrative, is experienced cerebrally and has enabled cultures to immortalize their fables and encounters. Architectural narratives, on the other hand, are experienced spatially, i.e. through a series of physical patterns and concepts that articulate place and meaning within a physical structure.
