Hmong Culture Case Study
Over a period of time, the Hmong people have immigrated from country to country due to oppression
from governments and due to their involvement in wars. For this reason, Hmong people are now
found living scattered across the globe (Tatman 2004). With no country to call home, they fled to the
hillsides and mountain tops of nearby neighboring countries. As a result, the Hmong people had to
reestablish their communities and families wherever the settled. Although the Hmong s lacked a
formal government and a central leader, Hmong families were often lead by a dominant male figure
within the family who was responsible for the decision making and wellbeing of the group (Long
2008). The social structure found within Hmong communities and Hmong ... Show more content on

The Hmong women living in America are able to develop their own identity and a greater self worth
(Long 2008). This was made possible due to the freedom found in America that pushes for equal
rights and the pursuit of the American dream (Lor 2013). Rather than being stay at home moms, many
Hmong women found themselves working where they were able to develop professional skills, earn
money and improve their own lives. From such experiences as these, Hmong women were able
empower themselves to gain leadership roles whether in the work place or in the local community and
even a voice within their immediate family (Lor 2013). The societal influence found in America
greatly changed the lives of Hmong women because it encouraged them to break through their cultural
confinements. Furthermore, Hmong women are much more successful in American when compared to

Coeliac Disease Harms the Lining of the Small Intestine
Coeliac disease
Coeliac disease is a condition that harms the lining of the small intestine and stops it from absorbing
parts of food that are important for staying healthy. The damage is cause by taking in gluten. 1 in 100
in UK have coeliac disease, 1 in 300 in Ireland, 1 in 250 in Italy and 1 in 133 in the USA. Studies
have shown that in Europe, USA and other places coeliac disease has enlarged as much as 4 times in
the last 30 years. The cause of coeliac disease is sensitivity to gluten. Gluten is found in common
foods like wheat, barley, and rye and any foods made from them such as bread, pasta and biscuits.
Some people with the disease are usually also sensitive to oats. People with coeliac disease make
antibodies against gluten. Antibodies are proteins in the immune system that usually attack bacteria,
viruses and other germs. The gut makes a mistake and thinks gluten is harmful, and reacts against it as
if it were fighting of a germ. These antibodies lead to irritation evolving the lining of the small
intestine.
Symptoms of coeliac disease can vary from minor to severe. People with minor cases the symptoms
are: Indigestion, rashes, Mild stomach pain, Bloating, Mild diarrhoea or constipation, Anaemia (lack
of iron in the blood) and loss of appetite. The symptoms usually stop and then start again. Small cases
of coeliac disease may not cause any obvious symptoms and the condition if mostly found when
testing for another condition. People with severe coeliac disease

iii
A WORD FROM THE CHAIR
The Public Service of Canada evolves in a world where risks have become increasingly complex and
serious, and this in turn has greatly increased the likelihood of crises or emergencies. The events
linked to the attacks of September 11, 2001 and, more recently, to the Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome (SARS) and the Mad Cow Disease are just a few examples that highlight the important role
the Government of Canada needs to play in managing crises and emergencies. In the big picture, crises
and emergencies are inevitable and it is only a question of time before one or the other occurs. Federal

The Importance Of Learning English In The United States
I was born in Vietnam. I left Vietnam to come to United State with my family when I was about 12
years old. I was really young at the time. It was a long time ago because I am 20 years old now. At that
time, life for me was simple. I didn t have to worry about anything. I stop going to school in Vietnam
at grade five and stay at home for two years. It was really fun while I was at home. When I was at
home, my parent wants me to learn English. So I learned English in Vietnam. When I got to United
State, I started middle school at United for Success in Oakland. I start school in Oakland at grades 7. It
was after Christmas when I started class. Over here, it really different than my home country. In my

The Tolkien s The Hobbit
As the story of The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien develops, readers of this book can see that one of the
main characters experience a metamorphosis. From the beginning of the story throughout the end,
Bilbo goes through a change, but for the better. Tolkien s main character Bilbo in The Hobbit shows
the theme of becoming a hero by gaining courage and confidence as the story progresses.
During the beginning of The Hobbit Bilbo likes to stay to himself in his hobbit hole. We see that he is
also shy when the author say Since they have become rare and shy of the Big People (Tolkien 1). Here
readers can see that the author is describing the hobbits, including Bilbo himself as shy around people
and creatures that are not like himself. The author starts off the story by telling the readers that Bilbo
was shy to show that he did not have much confidence, and due to his lack of confidence he had a lack
of experience. Continuing in the beginning, Bilbo declines the invitation from Gandalf to go on an
adventure. We don t want any adventures here, thank you! You might try over The Hill or across The
Water (Tolkien 3). He declines this invitation, and quickly ends the conversation here because at this
point in the story he is not brave enough for an adventure. During another occasion Bilbo says, Sorry!
I don t want any adventures, thank you. Not today. Good morning! But please come to tea any time
you like! Why not tomorrow? Come tomorrow! Good bye! (Tolkien 5). Here he

Bajaj vs Lml
BAJAJ VS LML
A Comparative Analysis
In today s world the two wheeler segment is a very competitive industry and there is a very stiff
competition among the various companies. There have been many two wheeler companies in India
present in the market since a long time, some have been able to transform itself and cope with the
modern market and some have faded away into the past. Companies like Hero Honda, Bajaj and TVS
have transformed themselves into major giants, while companies like LML and Rajdoot have failed
miserably and collapsed and had to shutdown. So in our case study we are taking into consideration
two such companies like Bajaj and LML which have been there from the very beginning and trying to
analyse why Bajaj was a huge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a larger selection of two wheelers on the Indian market, consumers started to gain influence over
the products they bought and raised higher customer expectations. The industry produced more
models, styling options, prices, and different fuel efficiencies. The foreign companies new
technologies helped make the products more reliable and with better quality. Indian companies had to
change to keep up with their global counterparts.
Motorbikes are a major segment of Indian two wheeler industry, the other two being scooters and
mopeds. Indian companies are among the largest two wheeler manufacturers in the world.
In the initial stages, the scooter segment was dominated by API; it was later overtaken by Bajaj Auto
and LML. Although various government and private enterprises entered the fray for scooters, the only
new player that has lasted till today is Bajaj.
The motorcycle segment was initially dominated by Enfield 350cc bikes and Escorts 175cc bike.
The two wheeler market was opened to foreign competition in the mid 80s. And the then market
leaders Escorts and Enfield were caught unaware by the onslaught of the 100cc bikes of the four Indo
Japanese joint ventures, namely; Hero Honda, TVS Suzuki, Bajaj Kawasaki and Kinetic Motor
Company (Kinetic Honda). With the availability of fuel efficient low power bikes, demand swelled,
resulting in Hero Honda then the only producer of four stroke bikes (100cc category), gaining a

Essay on American Hawaii
American Hawaii
American Hawaii Hawaii is known for its beautiful beaches, it amp;#8217;s nice year round weather,
and its culture. Thousands of vacationers come to Hawaii each year to get away from the stressful city
and relax. But do they know how cruel the Americans were to the natives? Do they know how we
corrupted their culture and their religion? Do they know how Hawaii really became a state? Probably
not. When most people think of Hawaii, they think of happy Hawaiian babes hula dancing and palm
trees swaying in the warm breeze. Hawaii has still held on to many of their traditions although they
were invaded by Americans. But you have to go to a museum to see their old way of life. Hawaii is
now populated mostly by Americans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These religious radicals started a domino affect of the Hawaiian religion. The Hawaiians destroyed
and burned their feared idols. The people who still held on the old belifes were murdered. This goes to
show how a religion can either hold a society together or tear it apart. Henry Obookiah was born in
Hawaii. His family was murdered in a war between neighboring islands. He decided to find a new life
in America, so he hopped aboard a trading ship and landed in New England. Obookiah stayed with a
Christian family and went to a foreign mission school. Obookiah was taught to be a good Christian
gentlemen. He told Americans about the religious chaos in Hawaii saying: quot;Hawaii gods; the
wood they burn. Me go home, put em in a fire, burn amp;#8216;em up. They no see, no hear, no
anything. We make amp;#8216;em. Our god, He make us quot;(The Hawaiian Islands P. 30). Christian
New Englanders were amazed by Obookiah amp;#8217;s enlightenment in America. New England
Christians were motivated to spread the faith into Hawaii. The first American settlers were Christian
missionaries from New England. The Missionaries came to the Hawaiian shores aboard the Thaddeus
on March 31, 1819. The Americans were treated very well by the natives. They were eager to learn
from the missionaries. Without the strict supervision of their former gods and superstitions, Hawaiians
were celebrating new freedom. They drank, they partied,

New York Stock Exchange Essay
On May 17, 1792 24 stock brokers signed the Buttonwood Agreement on Wall Street in New York
City under a Buttonwood tree. The agreement formed a centralized exchange that eliminated the need
for auctioneers. It also set up rules for the trading of public bonds that were used to pay for the
American Revolution. In 1817, a formal organization was setup and named the New York Stock
Exchange Board. In 1863 it was renamed the New York Stock Exchange and in 1903 it moved to its
present headquarters at 18 Broad Street. During the 19th century, most of the things traded in the
Stock Exchange were government bonds. Few corporations were in existence during this time but they
were primarily banks that people could buy and sell stocks. Over the centuries more companies joined
the exchange with the railroad industry dominating the market through the 20th century. The invention
of the telegraph allowed for easier trading and membership expansion. The current membership is

Analysis Of The Movie Exit The King
Exit the King by Eugene Ionesco directed by Trey Irby in presentation with the Blue Masque was a
complete production that felt well explored and executed. The play itself is a somewhat dark look into
the fall of a king, his kingdom and final hours of his life. This much darker subject matter is balanced
with comic relief provided by the guard, the maid and occasional banter of the king s two wives. A
well flushed out script that examines such a timeless struggle as the delicate balance of life and death
poses immense challenge for those involved. While this challenge occasionally made itself known, the
acting body as a whole did a fine job at overcoming these hurdles. The role of Queen Marguerite,
played by Laurel Edge, was one of the most complex roles to wrestle with and Edge took many of
bold stances that went helped to more fully develop what could have been essentially a bitchy
antagonist into a three dimensional being with solid intention from start to finish. Marguerite s
objective from the moment she steps on stage is clearly to end the life of the king, or rather help him
to the end of his life since no explicit murder takes place. Marguerite stops at nothing to pursuethis
through whether her obstacle is Queen Marie or the King himself. Edge was well open and able to
play off the many others in the scene at a time though this was not always obvious. She also had the
clearest expectations. Her choices in actions often times had her sitting away separately avoiding

Monroeville Real Life
A Real Life Maycomb
Harper Lee wrote To Kill a Mockingbird about a little Alabama town called Maycomb. What is
interesting is how Maycomb compares a lot to the town that Ms. Lee grew up in, Monroeville,
Alabama. The history of Monroeville and the way it was in the 1930s makes a reader wonder if Ms.
Lee took her hometown and made it the famous small town in the novel. By looking back to the
history of Monroeville s founding, the way it was in the 1930s, the way it almost mirrors Maycomb
and the way it is it today, one can see that Ms. Lee s used her experiences to create one of the most
famous towns in literature.
Monroeville, Alabama is located between Montgomery and Mobile. Before it was developed as a
town in 1831, it was called Burnt Corn Springs. During this time, there was major conflicts between
England, Spain, and Native Americans (Monroeville int). This past showed what Monroeville ... Show

Counter Storytelling Of Young Adult Literature
Counter Storytelling in Young Adult Literature: Oh my God! He was right over there! Closer than I d
been to him when Paul laid into him. Much closer. And Rashad was looking at me, too. I locked eyes
with a kid I didn t know, but felt like I did (309). All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan
Kiely sought to address police brutality in America, more specifically Springfield. Rashad and Quinn
are your average high school teenagers, attending the same school not knowing one another but going
about their daily lives when Rashad is brutally beaten by Officer Paul Galluzzo. The taped beating of
Rashad causes both young men to dig deep and answer questions about what is right and what is
wrong. Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely presents counter storytelling in All American Boys to tell a
story of racism and police brutality from the perspective of African American teen (Rashad) and a
White teen (Quinn). According to Hughes Hassell: Counter storytelling is an examination of racism
and its impact on people of color and indigenous people. Racism is defined as a system of advantage
based on race a system that involves cultural messages and institutional policies or practices, as well
as the beliefs and actions of individuals (221). Rashad and Quinn throughout the text seek to answer
the question of race being the motive behind the brutal beating by Officer Paul Galluzzo. How is

Understanding Why Race, Ethnicity And Nativity
4.3 Focused analysis on main ODW
We now focus on understanding why Race, ethnicity and nativity , (i.e., culture), and Household
economic characteristics (i.e., household as an economic agent) are the most well connected
determinant nodes in the ODW network.
The visualization in Figure 6a offers a graphical overview of the ODW network removing the links
that do not directly connect culture determinant. This visualization displays this node high
connectivity within the model (links with 88.89% of other determinants) as a reason behind its main
relevance, leaving out just two nodes, Household type and Occupational standing . Similarly, a black
loop around the node represents the determinant´s own weight (26.54) that renders its number of inner
links adjusted by the amount of binary nodes.
Culture determinant`s incoming (54%) and outgoing (46%) connections afforded for both supportive
and influencing roles in the model, although the supportive role prevailed as the ratio between the
outgoing and incoming (out/in) links was 0.86. This supportive role had likewise been preeminent in
the subset of cyclic relationships established with other nodes by both incoming and outgoing links,
which accounted for 76.92% of the culture node s connections, as the out/in link weight ratio
remained below the unit for all the cases (0.14 in average).
Culture stronger cyclic relationships stood with the nodes of household geographic characteristics and
economy . With statistically

Shaking Baby Syndrome Essay
Shaken Baby Syndrome
Imagine yourself as a sweet, innocent, precious little baby. You are totally dependant upon adults to
give you what you need and most importantly love. Your only means of communication is crying so
you cry when you need to be fed, when you need your diaper changed, when you aren t feeling so
well, or when you just want some attention. You are crying and someone comes over to you. They
pick you up, but instead of holding you and comforting you, talking affectionately to you, they shake
you violently and vigorously. You are a baby, imagine the fear and pain that the shaking causes you.
This is a form of child abuse and what is even harder to believe is that it actually happens. The correct

(The Epilepsy of Central Florida) The degree of brain damage depends on the amount and duration of
the shaking and the force involved in impact of the head.
Shaken Baby Syndrome is difficult to diagnose, unless someone accurately describes what happens.
Physicians often report that a child with possible Shaken Baby Syndrome is brought for medical
attention due to falls, difficulty breathing, seizures, vomiting, altered consciousness or choking
(Palmer). The caregiver may report that the child was shaken to try to resuscitate it. Physician look for
retinal hemorrhages, (Retinal hemorrhages is bleeding in the retina of the eye), Subdural hematoma
(blood in the brain), increased head size indicating excessive accumulations of fluid in the tissues of
the brain (Palmer). Doctors and physicians also look for damage to the spinal cord, and broken ribs.
This occurs because of the way the baby was held or grasped to hard. Doctors usually get Computed
Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans because they assist in showing
injuries in the brain.
Fifty Thousand cases occur each year in the U.S. (Ramirez, 1996). One shaken baby in four dies as a

Bierila Bartoók Research Paper
Béla Bartók, born in Nagyszentmiklós, Hungary, is regarded as one of the most successful and
prominent Hungarian composers. He was also an ethnomusicologist and pianist. Since being an
ethnomusicologist, he was a relentless collector and analyst of folk music...[and his works were]
highly influenced by his ethnomusicological studies, particularly those of Hungarian (Gillies,
Malcolm, Bela, Bartok). Bartók traveled across Hungary and Eastern Europe, learning and recording
with early phonographical devices the unique music he heard. In 1908, Bartók was traveling the
countryside of Hungary. He came across Magyar folk music, or peasant folk music, which in that time
was in categorized as Gypsy music. He found that old peasant folk music used pentatonic scales and
was the true folk music of Hungary (Béla Bartók s Musical Style). During this time period, composers
were utilising folk music as a cultural construct to represent their nationalistic pride. In 1931, Bartók
took the Magyar folk music he found and incorporated into his compositions. He did this by devising
more and more elaborate accompaniments for the melodies, shifting the emphasis from the original
tune [for example, peasant folk music from Hungary] to the total effect of its presentation [his own
work] (Béla ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nationalism is about bringing in your native country s old music, and incorporating it into something
modern (Nationalism in Music). Bartók utilised this tactic and wrote many compositions with folk

tweaking it to make it new. He felt liberated when using the old peasant modes and pentatonic scales;
instead of the restraining traditional major and minor tonality (Béla Bartók s Musical Style). Béla

What Is The Conceptual Frameworks Of Both Philosophical...
In philosophical jurisprudence, legal positivism has made a niche for itself in defining itself in
opposition to a somewhat straight laced reading of natural law theory. Often the comparison is based
solely on an exceedingly strong and doctrinal interpretation of the two competing models. In this
paper I will examine and distinguish the conceptual frameworks of both philosophical positions,
detailing the strong and weak theses of natural law ; while in turn also examining the implications of
hard and soft legal positivism. The finer distinctions between these more tailored or qualified theses
need to be recognized in order to provoke a better understanding of the disagreement from a
conceptual perspective.
Natural Law Lex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an ancient, modern, and contemporary context, natural law has been identified in not only with
morality but also with the human ability to employ reason and to identify principles of rational
conduct. Rational conduct, by ancient thinkers was more often identified by what is Good (be that in
terms of divine eternal truths, or empirical notions of naturalistic perfection or completion) whereas
more modern variant of natural law may identify a rational principle based on other considerations
such as not only what is good, but what right, just, fair, reasonable or practical.
Mark Murphy credits Thomas Aquinas with the natural law maxim necessarily, law is a rational
standard for conduct (i.e. the strong thesis hard necessity). He argues that natural law is often falsely
recognized to be synonymous with a Latin maxim commonly associate with Cicero, St. Augustine, or
Thomas Aquinas is lex iniusta non est lex , or unjust law is not law . Subscribing to this maxim would
be a preposterous and gross interpretation of mainstream Thomist natural law. Although this phrase
may provoke reflection upon whether unjust laws ought to be considered valid, or truly law; this is
just an oversimplified version of the logical principle of non contradiction and often incorrectly
attributed to natural law, in the form of a straw man. There are obviously unjust laws that were spotted
throughout present time, country, and history. These laws may undoubtedly be considered as

How Did Jocasta And Oedipus Fit The Crime
Did the punishment of Jocasta and Oedipus fit the crime? No because Jocasta wouldn t have killed

Modern Norse Interaction
The early Norse people of modern Scandinavia were an amazing group of people that traded, raided,
and farmed, we known as Vikings. Norse people were well known travelers of most of the known
world during the Viking age, approximately 800 1150 CE. Their customs and technology made
impacts on civilizations a great distance from their homeland. It seemed that once contact outside their
native land had taken place, an explosion of interaction occurred. They reached out and interacted
with people from the east, south, and west. Some of these interactions were ferocious in nature filled
with slaughter and raiding. Other interactions were peaceful that led to settlements and open trading.

The Frankish emperor Louis the Pious and his sons were at war. The Norse people continued to attack
some and became allies for others. Louis s son Lothar welcomed the Norse people and used them in
future battles as mercenaries. After Louis s death in 843 CE the Treaty of Verdun ended the civil war
and the kingdom was separated into 3. Charles the Bald became king of the West Franks. During his
time, near the Loire River, the Vikings founded a settlement. This was a major disadvantage to the
Franks and their trade routes. Norse men then began to travel up rivers to find more monasteries and
villages to attack within the Frankish kingdoms. Charles made several attempts to fortify the towns to
protect them, but not enough to overthrow his rule. None of these strategies were very efficient.
Charles made an extreme mistake in 845 CE in an attempt to deal with these Vikings in a new and less
painful way. He tried to buy peace from the invaders. Paying in large amounts of gold and silver to the
Viking s he simply asked not to attack him. This had the opposite effect he intended and led to waves
of Vikings attacking him, all of which sought to just be paid off . After the death of Charles the Bald ,
his grandson Charles the Simple developed a much better plan to deal with this threat (I love their
nicknames). He gave the mouth the Loire River to a Viking leader under the

reserve where against the expansion and wanted to inquire about it but the mayor s office flat out
decline to discuss anything to do with it. All this led to the Mohawk people taking action and setting
up barricades to stop any developers travelling to the site so they could not carry on with their work.
The mayor demanded the barricades be taken down but the Mohawk people refused to do so. This led
the mayor to call in the Quebec Provincial Police and the Surete du Quebec (SQ) to help remove the
barricades. This did not help the situation because the indigenous people have a long history with SQ
and it has not been a good relationship. Then this dispute turned and started taking a violent route
where the SQ decided to attack with tear gas and flash band grenades.(johansen, pg196) During all
this gunfire ended up breaking out and that resulted to a death of SQ Corporal Marcel Lemay.

The Importance Of An Organization Having A Pre Planned Budget
In this research paper I will be explaining the importance of an organization having a pre planned
budget. Without the proper budgeting systems most organizations probably would end up spending
more than their means which could ultimately cause a great amount of hardship. First let me start off
by defining what a budget is, a budget can be defined as the process of creating a plan to spend an
organization or individual s money. (Peavler, 2016) It s always best to create a plan for a budget that is
for six months to a year down the road. Spending plans are an entrepreneur s arrangement of activity
for the business firm. Without a financial plan, the entrepreneur is actually shooting oblivious with

Budget flexible budgeting unlike normal budgeting which uses predictions to make a forecasted
decision on how funds are to be budgeted in an organization. Flexible budgeting allows for an

made. Fixed and Static on the other hand is a predetermined amount that is unable to be changed if
things do not go as plan that is what makes the flexible budget more advantageous. (Davoren, 2016)
The business environment around you changes quickly; thusly, you should adjust to these progressions
to make your business an example of overcoming adversity. Utilizing an flexible budgeting plan
places you in a superior position to oblige these progressions, make convenient operational alterations
and take the best advantages from circumstances that exist in outside situations. For instance, in the
event that you run a transportation and dispatch administration, you might see the expanding expense
of gas and that travel costs are over spending plan. In the event that you utilize an adaptable spending
plan approach, you could name options and set them set up to diminish the expense of these
expansions. (Davoren, 2016) According to the source Strategic Finance author Renita Wolf states that

Essence of Korean Studies in our Local Universities
I feel that Korea needs no introduction. Friends who have visited say their stay could only be equated
to that of being in outer space. It is remarkably extraordinary. I look forward to proving the veracity of
the statement once I visit in the near future. However with my limited knowledge, the Korea I know is
one resilient and self driven nation. It has gone through thick and thin to emerge as the 12th largest
trading nation and its influence is vast and far reaching. In recent years, we have seen Korea emerge
not only as an influential nation but as a world super power. To qualify as a member of the G 20 is no

Persuasive Essay On Aging Out
According to the National Foster Youth institute, More than 23,000 children age out of the US foster
care system every year. () Aging out is the process of a teens transitioning from the legal control of the
foster care system, to independent living. Youth aging out of foster care should be given an extension
on foster care services after the age of 18, because it provides a stable home for teens, it increases the
amount of college graduates and it provides healthcare for those in need.
By providing a secure and stable home for teens , it teaches them responsibility and further equips
them with stability in overall life decreasing homelessness rates. Extending foster care services
supplies former foster children with stable homes if they are in need. According to Foster Focus
Magazine, 65% of youth leaving foster care need immediate housing upon discharge () Housing after
foster care is an immediate issue that comes with aging out. Over 50% of desperate former foster
youth are searching for a home to begin their life independently. Statistics show that, many foster
youth are placed in homes with complete strangers that sometimes are just as dysfunctional, if not
more, than the homes they were removed from. () Unfortunately there are children in foster care that
often get bounced from home to home never really knowing when they are safely sheltered. Some

The Gap Between Spoken Speakers And Non Fluent Speakers Of...
Carol Woodard, Guy Haskins, Grace Schaefer, and Linda Smolen address the issue of bridging the gap
between fluent speakers and non fluent speakers of English in classrooms in the United States. The
article explains how an urban school had tested the children in kindergarten and the results of the test
showed a nearly two year lag in oral language development (2004, p.92). The large gap in oral
language development of the less fluent speakers can be detrimental to their education. The school has
to try to bridge the gap quickly in the early years of the student s education; in order to catch the
students up to the developmentally appropriate level of oral language before it s too late. If the school
is unable to bridge the gap the less fluent speakers may be delayed in their reading and writing skills.
The school implemented a talk table to bridge the gap in oral language development (Woodard,
Haskins, Schaefer, Smolen, 2004, p. 92). The research method the school decided to use was
observations of the students progress, surveys, and pretest and posttest. The teacher in charge of each
classroom was responsible for carefully observing and recording the students progress throughout the
program. The teachers utilized their state s curriculum standards as a grading scale of how well the
students were doing and to monitor the progress they were making. Close to fifty teachers participated
in the research project. Teachers had to go through a special course in the Let s

The following is a diagram explaining the various steps involved in the purchasing process. The first
step involved is to identify the need for certain goods. These can be in form of raw materials or
equipments. The need must be felt and identified before taking any step to purchase the product. For
example, Starshine Electronics may want to offer transport as an after sale services to their customers.
In order to do this, a vehicle is required. The need of this vehicle is then identified and the first step in
purchasing the product is put into action.
The second step involves selecting the specific type of product that Starshine Electronics desires to
purchase according to their needs. There are various types of products that can be used to do a given
function and hence there is need to decide the product that suits you better. For example, there are
many types of vehicles in the market from different manufacturers and hence Starshine Electronics
should decide on the best model from a particular manufacturer to order. After selecting the product, a
purchase team needs to be appointed or selected. The formation of the team helps greatly in the
management of the purchase process through conducting research, analyzing the findings and

View Into A Hall With A Girl Analysis

Into a Hall with a Jester, a Girl, and her Dog which is painted around 1667. This genre painting
depicts a view through a hallway from the door with a jester, a girl and her dog. Metsu uses elements
of art and principles of design such as colour, texture, harmony, rhythm, space, shape, and gradation to

Metsu uses the element of art, space, to create a three dimensional space in the composition. As a
result, the illusion of depth is given to make the painting look realistic. He uses several elements such
as line, colour, shape, and even principles such as harmony, rhythm, and gradation to enrich the
element of space. These aspects are noticeable through the floor tiles in the comparison to the girl in
foreground, which is in proportion to the humans in the background. Metsu creates the optical illusion
of a three dimensional space on a two dimensional surface through the floor tiles. For example, the
shapes of the floor tiles in the foreground are larger and gradually get smaller in the background and
the colour values of the floor tiles are lighter in foreground and progressively get darker in the
background. Since this painting mimics a three dimensional space, the details of the floor tiles get
blurrier from the foreground to background. Metsu uses rhythm, a principle of design, on the floor.
The floor tile lines direct the viewer s eyes to the end of the hall. Principles such as gradation and
harmony are displayed on the floor tiles through elements including shape, colour, and space. In
addition, Metsu positions the girl in the foreground overlapping the door. This demonstrates the actual
size of the girl, which is relative to the size of the lady in the background. In addition, the girl in the

The Cultural And Social Behavior Of A Society
The cultural means relating to the ideas, customs, and social behavior of a society. Therefore, when
doing world mission we must be able to relate to the culture in which we are ministering to. We are
not to forget who we are as far as culturally, but we are to have the knowledge of that particular
culture. For example, in Chapter 3 in our textbook, it speaks of Patrick, an English slave who escaped
from Ireland and later returned as a missionary. Being that he understood the people and their
language, their issues, and their ways , served as a channel for the people to easily receive from him.
Being able to relate to a group of people, having the knowledge of that particular group, and being
able to understand the group in which you are ministering to is very essential in doing mission work.
You have to be careful how you approach people and when you do be conscious of how you engage
unbelievers. In conclusion, cultural simply refers to relations. On the other hand, this particular
question is referring to the negative fallouts (listed in the text) as results to decisions missionaries have
made overtime. Should those missionaries be representatives of all missionaries? In my opinion, the
spread of Christianity, as I refer to as the period of missionary work, has had a major, positive
influence on the world in many, many ways. Some missionaries may be looked upon as bringing about
negative change and some are looked upon as bringing about positive change. I believe it

The Wind in the Willows Essay
The Wind in the Willows
The Wind in the Willows (published in 1908) by Kenneth Grahame is a children s fictional novel set
in England during the early 20th century. This allegory from the stimulus booklet evokes feelings of
magic and adventure but also feelings of reflection as we relate the actions of Ratty, Mole and Toad to
our lives.Grahame evokes an imaginative journey within the mind of the reader as he questions Which
journey s do we take that we really want to experience? Kenneth Grahame conveys this idea through
Mole who is being forced to take Ratty s journey instead of his own. This text broadens our
understanding of the world today in that it helps us to undertsand the complex interactions between
people.

Camps, villages, town s cities . This vivid description of what he anticipates creates imagery in the
minds of the audience allowing them to enter the imaginative realm of Toads journey.
In this extract Kenneth Grahame creates exaggeration within the characters to effectively fuel the
imagination of the audience. The audience is sent on an imaginative journey as they picture the
different facial expressions, changing body language and personalities of the characters. For example
The rat only snorted and thrust his hands deep into his pocket , cried the Toad, straddling and
expanding himself , said Toad imploringly , followed him eagerly etc. The reader can interprete the
nature and personality of the characters more precisely through exaggeration because they are able to
picture them in their imagination.
The use of exaggeration is effective as it allows the true nature of the character to be expressed in the
writing, for example said Toad imploringly illustrates how Toad is desperate and pleaing to Ratty,
however if the text only contained said Toad then the true nature of Toad would not be evoked in the
audiences imagination.
The Wind in the Willows uses the technique of anthropomorphism. This feature is visually appealing
to the audience as the animals seem less threatening and it sends the reader into a fantasy world full of
magical and adventurous thoughts. The audience can effectively engage with the human traits shown

He asks the question, How much more garbage will college basketball take from this person (Watts
1)? I will not argue with Watts that Bobby Knight practices poor behavior from time to time. The
choking of a player and assaulting of individuals has no place in society, never the less college
athletics. Watts feels that a permanent timeout and firing is the answer to end the negative image
portrayed by coach Knight. He feels Knight needs to be removed from his coaching duties and denied
the excuses that have been given to him for countless years: He is just a competitive driven individual.
This clique has been the support and back bone for Bobby Knight for many years.
In comparison to Knight, Watts feels that Dennis Rodman and Mike Tyson are in similar categories.
Mike Tyson bites off an opponent s ear...and we call him a manic depressive . Dennis Rodman acts

college basketball. Sure he may be the King of the rude and crude as said in the comical comment by
Watts (Watts 1). Or maybe he will continue to create off court problems. But before anyone wants to

Using Hierarchical Linear Modeling Methods
As research across all fields and topics evolve, techniques on how to improve research endeavors,
such as statistical modeling techniques, become important to utilize. Hierarchical linear modeling,
similarly known as multilevel modeling, has been a statistical approach that has gained attention and
improved the analysis and interpretation of research data (Osborne, 2000). Hierarchical linear
modeling is a regression based statistical analysis that considers the hierarchical (i.e., multiple levels;
nested) nature of variables within a dataset. Hierarchical data is data that has an organizational
structure consisting of units of groups (i.e., levels) that are clustered under a larger group. Therefore,
the variables within a dataset may have mediating effects and such effects can only be explored when
taking into account the clustering of groups in the data.
Prior to the wide spread use of hierarchical linear analyses, data that was structured hierarchically in
nature was not analyzed appropriately due to the neglect of considering the correlated, underlying
relationships among independent and dependent variables. Considering the correlated parameters of a
proposed relationship within a dataset is of importance because the relating parameters would indicate
that the variables are not independent. Thus, violating the assumption of independence and increasing
the likelihood to make a Type 1 error, in addition to resulting in biased standard errors and hypothesis
tests.

Gilligan s Theory Of Moral Development In Antigone By...
How does one ultimately make the difference between what is morally right and wrong? Lawrence
Kohlberg, a psychologist, and his student, Carol Gilligan, developed two variations of a theory that
classifies people based on their perceptions of what is right or wrong. Kohlberg s theory ranks people
based on their understanding of universal principles and ethics, while Gilligan s theory focuses more
on the differences between moralities between men and women. These theories can be applied to the
characters of Antigone, a Greek play by Sophocles that tells the story of a woman transgressing the
king s orders by burying her brother s body after he dies in battle. In Sophocles s Greek tragedy
Antigone, Creon undergoes a dynamic change in his sense of morality based on his classification on
the scales in Kohlberg s Theory of Moral Development, Gilligan s Ethics of Care Theory, and a
general scale of morality; however his low initial morals hold him responsible for the deaths of his
loved ones.
Creon s morality at the beginning of the play ranks on the lower end of Kohlberg s Theory of Moral
Development and Gilligan s Ethics of Care Theory. For example, in the introductory scene of the play,
Creon tells the Chorus, ... whoever shows by word and deed that he is on the side of the state he shall
have my respect while he is living and my reverence when he is dead (1.1.52 55). His statement

My Personal Opinion On The Game
I ve had the pleasure of enjoying about five or six hours of MP thus far, (I ve lost count.) including an
entirely sleepless night I took to stay up and continue playing to beat the campaign at hand. Below, I
ve written a release day review to assist you in deciding whether you would enjoy this game or not.
First of all, make no mistake, Battlefield Hardline isn t simply a reboot of BF4. Though every BF
game is similar to the others, Battlefield Hardline appears to be the freshest attempt at BF since the
release of BC. In my personal opinion, I m stoked that this game is a bit different, because if I desire a
military based FPS, the community surrounding BF4 continues to actively thrive!
I quickly observed that loading times appear to be longer than usual for the majority of FPS games.
However, I ve only played 5 hours of MP, which doesn t include beta). So, keep that in mind, because
though I wanted to note this fact, I don t want to create the impression that I don t know how the game
will ultimately play on your system when it s cooled down or that I m knowledgeable about the
progression system.
Reasons Why You Should Play the Campaign
Visceral has made a concerted effort to create an immersive campaign. In fact, it s my favorite BF
campaign, only second to BC2, obviously! I m entirely cognizant that it being my favored campaign
isn t really enough of a reason for you to gauge you re interest, but I want to further convey my

Common Core State Standards Analysis
The Common Core State Standards provide clear and consistent learning goals to help prepare
students for college, career, and life, these standards clearly show what students are likely to learn at
each grade level, so that every parent and teacher can comprehend and provide support for the
students learning. It is stated that, these standards set grade specific goals, they do not express how the
standards should be taught or which resources should be used to support students . Many states and

One of the most imperative objectives of the Common Core State Standards is that it gives the needed

African Ferican Vs African Americans
We fought for our rights to become one as an individual, to have freedom and liberty as the next race.
We ve been ridiculed because of the color of our skin and disrespected by the rude derogatory names.
We fought for the right to be labeled and called an African American instead of nigger, Negro, and
color people, amongst other things. It was thought to be a respectable term but is now raising feuds
amongst African Americans who have different tones of black and brown on their skin. An African
American has totally different morals and cultural beliefs than an African who was born and raised in
the countries of Africa. They have a different way of living, a different government and law, and
different struggles. A shared complexion does not equal a shared culture, nor does it automatically
lead to friendships, says Kofi Glover, a native of Ghana and a political science professor at the
University of South Florida. Whether we like it or not, Africans and African Americans have two
different and very distinct cultures. (TRACIE REDDICK) African Americans aren t always accepting

How Did The British Conquest Of South Africa
During the British Conquest of South Africa the English used their superiority to defeat overwhelming
armies and kingdoms. Six months throughout 1879 the British army had to fight through entire
kingdoms in a new and hostile environment. As a result, the british army had decimated and destroyed
societies throughout South Africa exploiting their methods and resources. The successful conquest of
South Africa was caused by the British exploiting their advanced technology, the british also had
defensive and offensive military tactics which were extremely effective, the British also contained
great transportation tools that weren t native to South Africa such as war horses and wagons. Due to
the advancement in technology and development the British ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One example of these tactics in use was placed in the battle of Rorke s Drift. Within this battle a total
of 139 British Soldiers managed to hold off 4,500 zulu warriors. The soldiers created a perimeter of
sandbags and boxes connecting them to nearby buildings throughout the camp. These buildings were
important as some buildings contained wounded men and were also used to take out groups of zulus at
once in these compact spaces. Over time the Zulu s overran this stage of defence as the first building
was put on fire and the zulu s overran a sandbag wall. As the british were well prepared for this they
had a wall made out of barrels in the middle of the complex where they set up taking their positions
once more fighting for their lives. Again the zulu s had overran the british pushing them to form a
small circle in the complex created a last stand until the Zulu s finally retreated (British Battles). Due
to this strategy the british managed to fight in Rorke s drift for a total of 12 hours (Britannica) As this
strategy was used with two different defence lines the British managed to hold of waves of Zulu s
twice as if they formed a compact square the result of this battle might have been different. Another
example of british tactics that helped them survive battle of Khambula. The British created two main
fortifications out of sandbags and wagons as the Zulu

Chuck Jones
Chuck Jones was and still is a pioneer of animation, contributing to over 300 films animated films. He
redfeined character development and storytelling. There are three methods that Chuck employed to his
animations. Firstly, the jokes. Many people remember The Looney Tunes not only for the characters,
but the jokes. Chuck Jones installed a two part structure to every episode. The first part leads you to
make an assumption and the second part proves it wrong. However, the amount of work put into every
single character is what truly set the films apart, leading us to the second method creating relatable
characters. Chuck Jones wanted to make the characters relatable to audiences he wasn t just looking
for jokes, he wanted these characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It helps to have the dialogue, but the dialogue is not the thing that makes it work. The story should tell
itself by the way it moves. Now that we know what the character wants and how they move to get it,
we can then add in the personality of the character to the assumption. On the flipside, there is danger
to this method and you can easily get trapped in a formula. In order to counteract this, Chuck Jones
disciplined himself. Discipline is our third method because animating always you to do whatever you
want, so you have to think about what you won t do. For example, Bugs bunny never instigated a
fight, he only retaliates when others start it. Chuck Jones did this because if he did not, Bugs Bunny
would appear as a bully. Chuck Jones also applied discipline to how character expressed themselves.
In earlier years, they tended to go through a slew of expressions in a couple of seconds, but over time
Chuck Jones stuck to using the smallest possible gestures and that made the jokes funnier. But the
most important lesson that Chuck Jones has taught us, is to be inspired by everyday life because it is
no good to draw if you have nothing to

Based on this patient s history, how would you educate this patient about periodontal disease and the
factors contributing to the disease (identify the factors that are contributing to the disease process). Mr.
Tosis, after looking at your radiographs and evaluating results of your periodontal evaluation, I
concluded that you have gum inflammation and significant bone loss around your teeth. This
condition has been going on for many years and it is a slow process. It also explains the gum bleeding
that you experience during flossing and also explains the tooth mobility on certain teeth.

Diabetes affects the periodontal condition by feeding harmful bacteria that thrives under your gums
with sugars from your blood circulation. With more bacteria attacking your body, your immune
system must fight much harder and has less energy to work on other issues like diabetes. Another risk
of having this bacteria living in your mouth is that these bacteria enter the blood system and attach to
the inner walls of the blood vessels forcing the immune system building a barrier around them and
slowly closing up the arteries. When the arteries getting narrower the heart must work harder to pump
the blood through and this cause increase in blood pressure. You must be aware of the affect of
smoking that cause systemic and oral problems as well. Nicotin from the cigarettes cause constriction
in the blood vessels that also increase blood pressure and result in less blood flowing through the gum
tissue. When this happens, the immune cells have no access to the harmful bacteria that cause the
inflammation in the gums to protect your tissue, and

Final Paper
How America s High Tech Sweatshops could lead to Brain Drain in the tech industry
Economic globalization has created an international skilled labor race, where developed countries,
compete for best and brightest human capital to advance their economies. By utilizing selective
immigration policies, these economically advanced countries target highly educated, and skilled labor
in foreign countries to meet their changing economic needs. The United States is no different and has
utilized special guest worker programs to strengthen its workforce. These guest worker programs have

many proposed legislations to revamp the program in order to better protect American workers.
[footnoteRef:4] It is undeniable that domestically, the protections of American workers need to be

workers since; the current U.S. climate and legislation, mainly through the current president s
executive orders, have been laced with anti immigrant sentiment. [3: Moira Herbst and Steve Hamm,

Walt Whitman and Robert Frost are both considered talented writers as well as many other poets. They
both have their own unique style of writing and captivating their readers. Although, they both write
about the happenings in the world during their time, their views of the world are different in context.

invite my soul I lean and loafe at my ease observing a spear of summer grass . Walt Whitman
believed in democracy and the themes of his poem prove just that. He used his writings as a way to
express the voice of the people and to bring awareness to the situations that exist in the world. In his
poetry he described the world as he viewed it, a unified nation composed of unique but equal
individuals. When one reads the work of Whitman, they can vision a world where everyone has a
purpose and that purpose is unique to that individual. His poetry seems to have no structure as the
work of Frost. Whitman chose to use ordinary people as the subjects of his work, so he choice of

Planning A Family Trip
Planning a family trip is appealing and a bit stressful, but that is all washed away once the journey
commences because you are with family and friends. And the thought of enjoying the trip alone never
crosses your mind. Additionally, the odds of ending up in a somewhat seedy location is not top of
mind. In consideration, a significant portion of the of discussion and planning is based on the needs of
your family. However, the same process of planning a solo trip is not nearly the same thing, and if you
are a female solo traveler, there are some additional tips and tricks to consider before booking your
next trip.
Earlier this year, for example, several popular sites including SmarterTravel.com and Trip.com
published safety tip focused articles detailing experiences from other solo female travelers. The U.S.
State Department also issued a list of countries this year which included Mexico, and Egypt among
others that were placed with travel alerts, to warn travelers overall of what to expect. Per the U.S.
State Department travel warnings are issued, for short term events we think you should know about
when planning travel to a country. Examples of reasons for issuing a travel alert might include an
election season that is bound to have many strikes, demonstrations, or disturbances; a health alert like
an outbreak of H1N1; or evidence of an elevated risk of terrorist attacks. When these short term events
are over, we cancel the Travel Alert. Additionally, Trip.com found

  • 2. Hmong Culture Case Study Over a period of time, the Hmong people have immigrated from country to country due to oppression from governments and due to their involvement in wars. For this reason, Hmong people are now found living scattered across the globe (Tatman 2004). With no country to call home, they fled to the hillsides and mountain tops of nearby neighboring countries. As a result, the Hmong people had to reestablish their communities and families wherever the settled. Although the Hmong s lacked a formal government and a central leader, Hmong families were often lead by a dominant male figure within the family who was responsible for the decision making and wellbeing of the group (Long 2008). • 11. Analysis Of The Movie Exit The King Exit the King by Eugene Ionesco directed by Trey Irby in presentation with the Blue Masque was a complete production that felt well explored and executed. The play itself is a somewhat dark look into the fall of a king, his kingdom and final hours of his life. This much darker subject matter is balanced with comic relief provided by the guard, the maid and occasional banter of the king s two wives. A well flushed out script that examines such a timeless struggle as the delicate balance of life and death poses immense challenge for those involved. While this challenge occasionally made itself known, the acting body as a whole did a fine job at overcoming these hurdles. The role of Queen Marguerite, played by Laurel Edge, was one of the most complex roles to wrestle with and Edge took many of bold stances that went helped to more fully develop what could have been essentially a bitchy antagonist into a three dimensional being with solid intention from start to finish. Marguerite s objective from the moment she steps on stage is clearly to end the life of the king, or rather help him to the end of his life since no explicit murder takes place. Marguerite stops at nothing to pursuethis through whether her obstacle is Queen Marie or the King himself. Edge was well open and able to play off the many others in the scene at a time though this was not always obvious. She also had the clearest expectations. Understanding Why Race, Ethnicity And Nativity 4.3 Focused analysis on main ODW We now focus on understanding why Race, ethnicity and nativity , (i.e., culture), and Household economic characteristics (i.e., household as an economic agent) are the most well connected determinant nodes in the ODW network. The visualization in Figure 6a offers a graphical overview of the ODW network removing the links that do not directly connect culture determinant. This visualization displays this node high connectivity within the model (links with 88.89% of other determinants) as a reason behind its main relevance, leaving out just two nodes, Household type and Occupational standing . Similarly, a black loop around the node represents the determinant´s own weight (26.54) that renders its number of inner links adjusted by the amount of binary nodes. Culture determinant`s incoming (54%) and outgoing (46%) connections afforded for both supportive and influencing roles in the model, although the supportive role prevailed as the ratio between the outgoing and incoming (out/in) links was 0.86. This supportive role had likewise been preeminent in the subset of cyclic relationships established with other nodes by both incoming and outgoing links, which accounted for 76.92% of the culture node s connections, as the out/in link weight ratio remained below the unit for all the cases (0.14 in average). He was also an ethnomusicologist and pianist. Since being an ethnomusicologist, he was a relentless collector and analyst of folk music...[and his works were] highly influenced by his ethnomusicological studies, particularly those of Hungarian (Gillies, Malcolm, Bela, Bartok). Bartók traveled across Hungary and Eastern Europe, learning and recording with early phonographical devices the unique music he heard. In 1908, Bartók was traveling the countryside of Hungary. He came across Magyar folk music, or peasant folk music, which in that time was in categorized as Gypsy music. He found that old peasant folk music used pentatonic scales and was the true folk music of Hungary (Béla Bartók s Musical Style). During this time period, composers were utilising folk music as a cultural construct to represent their nationalistic pride. In 1931, Bartók took the Magyar folk music he found and incorporated into his compositions. In philosophical jurisprudence, legal positivism has made a niche for itself in defining itself in opposition to a somewhat straight laced reading of natural law theory. Often the comparison is based solely on an exceedingly strong and doctrinal interpretation of the two competing models. In this paper I will examine and distinguish the conceptual frameworks of both philosophical positions, detailing the strong and weak theses of natural law ; while in turn also examining the implications of hard and soft legal positivism. The finer distinctions between these more tailored or qualified theses need to be recognized in order to provoke a better understanding of the disagreement from a conceptual perspective. In an ancient, modern, and contemporary context, natural law has been identified in not only with morality but also with the human ability to employ reason and to identify principles of rational conduct. Rational conduct, by ancient thinkers was more often identified by what is Good (be that in terms of divine eternal truths, or empirical notions of naturalistic perfection or completion) whereas more modern variant of natural law may identify a rational principle based on other considerations such as not only what is good, but what right, just, fair, reasonable or practical. Mark Murphy credits Thomas Aquinas with the natural law maxim necessarily, law is a rational standard for conduct (i.e. the strong thesis hard necessity). He argues that natural law is often falsely recognized to be synonymous with a Latin maxim commonly associate with Cicero, St. Augustine, or Thomas Aquinas is lex iniusta non est lex , or unjust law is not law . Subscribing to this maxim would be a preposterous and gross interpretation of mainstream Thomist natural law. Although this phrase may provoke reflection upon whether unjust laws ought to be considered valid, or truly law; this is just an oversimplified version of the logical principle of non contradiction and often incorrectly attributed to natural law, in the form of a straw man. During his time, near the Loire River, the Vikings founded a settlement. This was a major disadvantage to the Franks and their trade routes. Charles made several attempts to fortify the towns to protect them, but not enough to overthrow his rule. None of these strategies were very efficient. Charles made an extreme mistake in 845 CE in an attempt to deal with these Vikings in a new and less painful way. He tried to buy peace from the invaders. Carol Woodard, Guy Haskins, Grace Schaefer, and Linda Smolen address the issue of bridging the gap between fluent speakers and non fluent speakers of English in classrooms in the United States. The article explains how an urban school had tested the children in kindergarten and the results of the test showed a nearly two year lag in oral language development (2004, p.92). The large gap in oral language development of the less fluent speakers can be detrimental to their education. The school has to try to bridge the gap quickly in the early years of the student s education; in order to catch the students up to the developmentally appropriate level of oral language before it s too late. If the school is unable to bridge the gap the less fluent speakers may be delayed in their reading and writing skills. These aspects are noticeable through the floor tiles in the comparison to the girl in foreground, which is in proportion to the humans in the background. Metsu creates the optical illusion of a three dimensional space on a two dimensional surface through the floor tiles. For example, the shapes of the floor tiles in the foreground are larger and gradually get smaller in the background and the colour values of the floor tiles are lighter in foreground and progressively get darker in the background. Since this painting mimics a three dimensional space, the details of the floor tiles get blurrier from the foreground to background. Metsu uses rhythm, a principle of design, on the floor. The floor tile lines direct the viewer s eyes to the end of the hall. Principles such as gradation and harmony are displayed on the floor tiles through elements including shape, colour, and space. Using Hierarchical Linear Modeling Methods As research across all fields and topics evolve, techniques on how to improve research endeavors, such as statistical modeling techniques, become important to utilize. Hierarchical linear modeling, similarly known as multilevel modeling, has been a statistical approach that has gained attention and improved the analysis and interpretation of research data (Osborne, 2000). Hierarchical linear modeling is a regression based statistical analysis that considers the hierarchical (i.e., multiple levels; nested) nature of variables within a dataset. Hierarchical data is data that has an organizational structure consisting of units of groups (i.e., levels) that are clustered under a larger group. Therefore, the variables within a dataset may have mediating effects and such effects can only be explored when taking into account the clustering of groups in the data. Prior to the wide spread use of hierarchical linear analyses, data that was structured hierarchically in nature was not analyzed appropriately due to the neglect of considering the correlated, underlying relationships among independent and dependent variables. Considering the correlated parameters of a proposed relationship within a dataset is of importance because the relating parameters would indicate that the variables are not independent. Thus, violating the assumption of independence and increasing the likelihood to make a Type 1 error, in addition to resulting in biased standard errors and hypothesis tests. ... • 35. Gilligan s Theory Of Moral Development In Antigone By... How does one ultimately make the difference between what is morally right and wrong? Lawrence Kohlberg, a psychologist, and his student, Carol Gilligan, developed two variations of a theory that classifies people based on their perceptions of what is right or wrong. Kohlberg s theory ranks people based on their understanding of universal principles and ethics, while Gilligan s theory focuses more on the differences between moralities between men and women. These theories can be applied to the characters of Antigone, a Greek play by Sophocles that tells the story of a woman transgressing the king s orders by burying her brother s body after he dies in battle. In Sophocles s Greek tragedy Antigone, Creon undergoes a dynamic change in his sense of morality based on his classification on the scales in Kohlberg s Theory of Moral Development, Gilligan s Ethics of Care Theory, and a general scale of morality; however his low initial morals hold him responsible for the deaths of his loved ones. Creon s morality at the beginning of the play ranks on the lower end of Kohlberg s Theory of Moral Development and Gilligan s Ethics of Care Theory. For example, in the introductory scene of the play, Creon tells the Chorus, ... whoever shows by word and deed that he is on the side of the state he shall have my respect while he is living and my reverence when he is dead (1.1.52 55). • 36. My Personal Opinion On The Game I ve had the pleasure of enjoying about five or six hours of MP thus far, (I ve lost count.) including an entirely sleepless night I took to stay up and continue playing to beat the campaign at hand. Below, I ve written a release day review to assist you in deciding whether you would enjoy this game or not. First of all, make no mistake, Battlefield Hardline isn t simply a reboot of BF4. Though every BF game is similar to the others, Battlefield Hardline appears to be the freshest attempt at BF since the release of BC. In my personal opinion, I m stoked that this game is a bit different, because if I desire a military based FPS, the community surrounding BF4 continues to actively thrive! I quickly observed that loading times appear to be longer than usual for the majority of FPS games. However, I ve only played 5 hours of MP, which doesn t include beta). So, keep that in mind, because though I wanted to note this fact, I don t want to create the impression that I don t know how the game will ultimately play on your system when it s cooled down or that I m knowledgeable about the progression system. Reasons Why You Should Play the Campaign Visceral has made a concerted effort to create an immersive campaign. In fact, it s my favorite BF campaign, only second to BC2, obviously! I m entirely cognizant that it being my favored campaign isn t really enough of a reason for you to gauge you re interest, but I want to further convey my enjoyment I ... We ve been ridiculed because of the color of our skin and disrespected by the rude derogatory names. We fought for the right to be labeled and called an African American instead of nigger, Negro, and color people, amongst other things. It was thought to be a respectable term but is now raising feuds amongst African Americans who have different tones of black and brown on their skin. An African American has totally different morals and cultural beliefs than an African who was born and raised in the countries of Africa. They have a different way of living, a different government and law, and different struggles. A shared complexion does not equal a shared culture, nor does it automatically lead to friendships, says Kofi Glover, a native of Ghana and a political science professor at the University of South Florida. Whether we like it or not, Africans and African Americans have two different and very distinct cultures. (TRACIE REDDICK) African Americans aren t always accepting to their own people when they come from a different country to America. Sometimes they make fun of them because they re not the same, or a little darker skin complexion, their accent, and also the way they dress and carry themselves. Within this battle a total of 139 British Soldiers managed to hold off 4,500 zulu warriors. The soldiers created a perimeter of sandbags and boxes connecting them to nearby buildings throughout the camp. These buildings were important as some buildings contained wounded men and were also used to take out groups of zulus at once in these compact spaces. Over time the Zulu s overran this stage of defence as the first building was put on fire and the zulu s overran a sandbag wall. As the british were well prepared for this they had a wall made out of barrels in the middle of the complex where they set up taking their positions once more fighting for their lives. Again the zulu s had overran the british pushing them to form a small circle in the complex created a last stand until the Zulu s finally retreated (British Battles). Due to this strategy the british managed to fight in Rorke s drift for a total of 12 hours (Britannica) As this strategy was used with two different defence lines the British managed to hold of waves of Zulu s twice as if they formed a compact square the result of this battle might have been different. Another example of british tactics that helped them survive battle of Khambula. The British created two main fortifications out of sandbags and wagons as the Zulu ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Chuck Jones Chuck Jones was and still is a pioneer of animation, contributing to over 300 films animated films. He redfeined character development and storytelling. There are three methods that Chuck employed to his animations. Firstly, the jokes. Many people remember The Looney Tunes not only for the characters, but the jokes. Chuck Jones installed a two part structure to every episode. The first part leads you to make an assumption and the second part proves it wrong. However, the amount of work put into every single character is what truly set the films apart, leading us to the second method creating relatable characters. It helps to have the dialogue, but the dialogue is not the thing that makes it work. The story should tell itself by the way it moves. Now that we know what the character wants and how they move to get it, we can then add in the personality of the character to the assumption. On the flipside, there is danger to this method and you can easily get trapped in a formula. In order to counteract this, Chuck Jones disciplined himself. Discipline is our third method because animating always you to do whatever you want, so you have to think about what you won t do. For example, Bugs bunny never instigated a fight, he only retaliates when others start it. Chuck Jones did this because if he did not, Bugs Bunny would appear as a bully. Chuck Jones also applied discipline to how character expressed themselves. In earlier years, they tended to go through a slew of expressions in a couple of seconds, but over time Chuck Jones stuck to using the smallest possible gestures and that made the jokes funnier. But the most important lesson that Chuck Jones has taught us, is to be inspired by everyday life because it is no good to draw if you have nothing to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
