Extenuating Circumstances
Some extenuating circumstances, including relevant dates, which prevented me from meeting
credits under pace and/or the required cumulative GPA is because of three reasons. One of the
three reason dropping out of my two classes and adding two new classes to my schedule so when
I dropped two of my classes and added two different classes, I had a little struggled. Second, was
when my grandma was rushed to the hospital and lastly, when my parents left to Thailand for an
familyemergency, both of these emergency made me put myself last because I had to take care
of my family members. I really wasn t prepared for any of these events. Some of these events
made it impossible to concentrate on any school work or get any of my school work done. First,
I dropped two of my classes, which was Speech and English 099, and added two sociology
classes to my schedule. I thought that Speech and English 099 wasn t beneficial for me, as I am
still undecided of what my major is. I wanted to take class that could possibly spark an interest in
my eyes and guide me to what it is that I wantto be when I grow up.... Show more content on

So I was left to take care of my four younger siblings, drop and pick up my siblings up from
school or any activities that they were in, pay bills, cook food, basically do whatever it was that
my mom did when she was home taking care of us. I had to put my needs behind and help my
little siblings like I did with my grandma. It was the wrong month for my parents to go because
that was month was finals! The only time I got to study for finals was when I was at work, and
when everyone was asleep, other than that, I could not fit time to study for any of my finals. But
I can say that when I work, I somehow manage my time more wisely by doing all of my work in a
good pace because that was my only free

Ducker Lake s Water Quality
Abstract Water quality is sometimes ignored by lake management until it affects fish production
and aesthetic values and is significant to test the quality of lakes frequently, sometimes as many as
multiple times a day since the water in the lake could be used as a drinking source for both
humans and animals. Protecting the present quality of the lake is significant when it comes to
avoiding future problems. Duckers Lake s water quality was sampled in spring 2014. Variables that
could measure the water quality of lakes include: dissolved oxygen (DO) levels, temperature, pH,
turbidity, and phosphate and nitrates levels. Mean turbidity levels increased overall throughout the
sampling dates, while pH seemed to decrease overall throughout... Show more content on

Natural eutrophication is a very slow process that could take years, decades, and sometimes
centuries. The sediment build up in eutrophic lakes will make lakes very shallow. This increases
vegetation due to the increase in light exposure. Anthropogenic eutrophication is a faster process
that could occur in days and months. Anthropogenic eutrophication is due to fertilizer runoff from
surrounding areas and could convert oligotrophic lakes into eutrophic lakes. The difference
between oligotrophic lakes and eutrophic lakes is that oligotrophic lakes have very clear, blue
water. Oligotrophic lakes are deep with low sedimentation levels. Eutrophic lakes have murky, dirty
looking water. They are very shallow with high sedimentation levels. Plants dominate the shoreline
because of the increase in light and vegetation (Walsh

The Importance Of King Ferdinand And King Columbus
King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella saw something in Columbus that others didn t see in funding
his voyage. Columbus was born close to the seaport so his thrive of sailing came strong. Columbus
started sailing at the age of fourteen. Columbus numerous trips before his first big voyage help him
by giving him skills to prepare for his voyage. Columbus desire to find new undiscovered land
emerged greatly as Columbus mastered his navigation skills. In Lisbon Columbus studied
mathematics, astronomy, cartography and navigation. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella saw a
sailor that was thought young and that was well educated about the sea with a thrive for helping

King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella saw themselves in Columbus. Columbus wanted to be rich and
have lots of fame. Ferdinand and Isabella wanted riches and wealth for themselves so the funded
his voyage in return everyone would get what they wanted. With King Ferdinand and Queen
Isabella have more fame and fortune would make their monarchy look more powerful to others.

Second Language Acquisition Essay
Second language acquisition has long been the focus of linguists and researchers in the teaching
field. It highlights the process and theories of acquiring second languages among learners. Second
language acquisition seeks to understand the development of second language acquisition among
second language learners. Mastering the knowledge of second language acquisitionhelps teachers to
successfully provide effective teaching for students. Undeniably, knowledge on second language
acquisition is very much related to effective teaching of second languages. Many linguists and
teacher educators believe that all language teachers should be equipped with knowledge of second
language acquisition to help them teach effectively. Additionally, most teacher training
programmers have incorporated second language acquisition as a compulsory course to make sure
that all future language teachers are well equipped with enough knowledge to teach in classroom.
Then again, the relationship between second language acquisition and effective second language
teaching is still being discussed. Hence, this paper aims to explain ways in which knowledge of
second language acquisition helps language teachers to provide a better and effective second
language teaching in classrooms by highlighting three main ideas; knowledge of second language
acquisition helps teachers to understand the different needs of students, to design a good second
language course and effective teaching method for learners, and to

File Format, Compression Techniques, Image Resolution And...
Impact that file format, compression techniques, image resolution and colour depth have on file
size and image quality D2
In this report I will be discussing the different file formats, compression techniques, image
resolution and colour depth. I will be explaining the different purposes, then, after I have issued an
in depth explanation of image quality and file size I will be completing a final conclusion about
the best ones to use for certain tasks.
Seen as there are numerous different uses for images it means that the quality will differ for
different purposes. The formats which I will be discussing within this report include JPEG, GIF s,
TIF, PSD and BMP. All these formats are made for different reasons and I will be explaining
these differences in quality and file size. Each format varies in the depth of the colour within the
image, some have larger colour depth meaning that the file size will be larger, whereas, some of
these formats have very low colour depth resulting in a lower quality image. When exporting an
image, sometimes there is an option to adjust the colour depth to your preference, so, the file format
could change to your desired colour depth.
Compression techniques
When compressing a file to make it smaller there are two options which are available, Lossy and
Lossless. Both do the same job, which is compressing the file size, however, they both do it
differently for different reasons, I will explain the advantages and disadvantages of both. The

Fine Arts Personal Statement Of Intent
I have always enjoyed the fine arts. When i was in the fourth grade I won a school project for
designing the yearbook cover. I was proud of the accomplishment and to my surprise I won the
next year also! I realized I had a passion and talent for design. During my middle school and high
school years I designed posters and programs related to school events. I was proud I designed the
winning poster for fast 50 contest with Michigan schools.
During my senior year I decided to attend Southwestern Michigan and major in graphic design.
This past year while attending school I have designed posters for theater productions for Central
Michigan University. My ultimate goal is to obtain a Bachelor of fine arts in graphic design which

How To Achieve Goals In Life Essay
Some people are successful because they are destined to be such. But most people are more
successful because they are determined to reach this goal. We just know what we want and how
to achieve it. You would probably have laid out your plans for your life already, and that you
would exhaust all efforts just to attain what you desire. But sometimes, we question, how come no
matter how hard you try to perfect things the way you planned it, circumstances would not allow
it? You start thinking, were your efforts not enough to achieve your goals? Or maybe it is just not
meant to be? Some people may be too controlling of their lives and get burnt out fast. When this
happens, your mindset tends to shift and they turn into a complete opposite of what they used to be.

Just when you think you are good, you can actually be better. Never settle for mediocre, but try
surprising yourself and reach far beyond what you can imagine. Your success in life does not
rely on fate, but it depends on the effort you put in achieving your goals in life. The quote has a
similar theme with the first two lines of the second stanza in the poem If . It is okay to dream
and visualize your goals in life. But do not let it control you without making it into reality. In
life, you may experience the highest of the highs and lowest of the lows, which will both teach
you to become a better person. Know that we all have our strengths and limitations, which
defines who we are. Correlating the quote, the poem If and the poem Still I Rise altogether, they
all speak about knowing one s self serving worth, not relying on chances or what other people
dictate, but rather making your dream into reality despite the difficulties you will face in life. You
make your choice and you will be responsible for whatever actions you

The Pros And Cons Of Football
What is football? Football is a sport where you can shine and show your potential talent. For
most people football is not just a game; it is more than that, it is a job as much as it is a lifestyle.
For most athletes, when you step out onto the field you forget what is really going on in your
life. However, for a professional quarterback, you cannot just forget about the world and play the
sport. The quarterback has many responsibilities since they are the most valuable player on the
field, so they cannot lose their mind in the chaos of the game. Being a quarterback is already a
hard role, which is why there are limited amount of great quarterbacks in the National Football
League. There are many great quarterbacks in the spotlight, which is why they get all the blame

Trust Definition Essay
What is the meaning of trust? What does it take for a person to fully, unconditionally trust a
person? What can that person do, to change, for you to trust them? Merriam Webster s Dictionary
defines Trust as; the belief that someone or something is reliable, good, honest, effective, etc. And I
believe trustis the number one key in healthy relationships. For others, especially in my story, I am
still trying to understand their warped definition of that fantastic word, trust.
My story originates from a few weeks ago, August 19th, 2015 to be exact. I am relaxing at home,
vigorously going through all of my new books for school, and making sure my book bag is neat
and orderly.
All of a sudden, the phone rings. On the other line, it is my good friend, my mentor, Police
Officer Steel. Good afternoon, Geneva, how are you? , she says. I am doing great Officer Steel,
what may I help you with today? She goes on to say, Well, I know your mother wouldn t be apart

Jessie Pope War Women Analysis
Masculinity and Femininity in Jessie Pope s war poems: War Girls and The Call The world wars
have greatly impacted modern British literature in the 20th century. There were many poems
written about the period of war; some showed them in a positive light and some negative. Gender
roles, gender relations on what means to be a man or a womanimpacted greatly during this time. In
particular with World War I
, women in large numbers took over jobs in the homeland while the
men were out fighting. Questions on what is femininity and what is masculinity were on the rise.
Men were constantly fed with the idea that they should be drafted into the war. This propaganda
was seen everywhere during this era due to the self interests of the British... Show more content on

It represents the gender of this person who is doing the jobs like a man. That is not the whole
story because in the 5th line, this gender is called Strong, sensible, and fit, This stands out in the
poem as it follows the rule of 3 of a poem to describe the qualities of the new woman now. It is
controversial to the usual perspective of a woman since these adjectives are associated with a
man more than a woman. This exhibits that the typical views of what femininity is changed
during the wartime. The usage of the word grit in line 6 is also a word associated with
masculinity but it is used in the poem to describe women. The poem also shows femininity to be
related to toil because Pope mentions a girl who does a milk round in the rain (3). The physical
hard work of the woman is to be revered according to Pope. The imagery of not being caged or
penned up anymore (7) is a strong one it explains that the war brought redemption and freedom
to women. A definitive declarative statement is made in the 9th line of the poem, They re going
to make their end up , Pope is manifesting her confidence in the women of Britain who are serving
their country by being the workforce. The shift in the gender roles is empowering for women
during the wartime and Pope associates this with patriotism as well. The heavy van the girl is
driving is especially described as heavy because women are not popularly

Benefits Of An Electronic Health Record ( Emr )
Many patients do not fully understand the benefits as well as the drawbacks of an Electronic
Health Record (EMR); however, there are many of both. The first major benefit is that you, as a
patient, no longer have to remind the provider of previous information, such as orders or
allergies. This greatly increases efficiency in terms of patient visit times. Another benefit of an
EMR is that a doctor is much less likely to provide medication in error. For example, a patient
could currently be taking a daily dose of Aspirin, which is a blood thinner. If their doctor did not
know this medication was in use and prescribed them Warfarin, which is also a blood thinner,
they have a much higher risk of bleeding. With an EHR, this data is most likely stored in the
system, as long as the physician was aware of this. If they were, the system would alert them of
this, which would prompt the physician of this, and would not let them order the medication
without signing off, agreeing that they are aware of the conflict. There is always a chance for
human error, but with an EHR, this is greatly decreased. A negative effect of an EHR, which many
patients are aware of, is the change in visit. When paper records were in effect, the doctor could
visit with the patient face to face, but there is much more typing and checkboxes involved with
current visits, so the physician is now required to spend as much time on the computer as they do
with the patient. After interviewing George Olsen, Chief

Over the years, I have come to realize that the greatest trap in our life is not success, popularity, or
power, but self rejection, Henry J.M Houwen once stated. In the graphic novel American Born

with society. In the short storyLinh Lai by Rebecca Rosenblum, Linh Lai helplessly suffers
rejection as she struggles to meet her uncle and Mr. Koenburg s expectations. In the short story

Lastly, Mr. Koenberg tries to prevent Linh from talking to the skaters. You talk to those something
something boys who long something. Bad for business, Jinny, (9) Mr. Koenberg says to Linh, thus
making her worry of what he would think of her when she continues to talk to the skaters. Linh
struggles as her uncle Steve and Mr. Koenberg rejects her for not meeting their expectations.
The graphic novel American Born Chinese shows how being rejected by society leads to self
rejection. Firstly, the monkey king is denied entry to the dinner party because he is a monkey.
When the monkey king demands to be let into the dinner party, the guard says Look. You may
be a king you may even be a deity but you are still a monkey, (Yang 15), and then, the monkey
king begins to notice and hate the thick smell of monkey fur when he gets home. Additionally,
the monkey king refuses to call himself a monkey. Tze yo tzuh visits the monkey king one day,
and he then calls the monkey king a silly little monkey, but the monkey king doesn t accept this,
and then Tze yo tzu says, I created you. I say that you are a monkey. Therefore, you are a
monkey. (69). Lastly, Jin rejects to be himself due to the fact that he is Chinese, therefore, he
cannot ask Amelia out. One night, Jin desperately wants to have a completely different
appearance, and then he dreams of the herbalist s wife, and she says, So, little friend, you have

The Failure Of The World Bank Essay
The Failure of the World Bank s Sardar Sarovar Dam project in India
Lira Samanta
The World Bank is known to fund many infrastructure projects in developing countries, presumably
as a means to achieve their goals of increasing development in those countries. Hydroelectric dams
are some of the much maligned infrastructure projects funded by the World Bank. In a report
authored by employees of the World Bank itself, the authors themselves highlight the adverse
environmental and related social impacts of large dams, while attempting to draw a distinction
between relatively good dams and bad dams . (Ledec Quintero, 2003)
One example of a hydroelectric dam funded by the World Bank is the Sardar Sarovar Dam in
India. The World Bank funded Sardar Sarovar in 1985, approving $450 million in loans for the
development of this dam. (Bosshard, 2008)
This development was envisioned as part of the Narmada Valley Development Project, also
known as the Narmada Project , the scope of which included the provisioning of thirty large
dams, 135 medium dams, and 3000 small dams. Of these, the Sardar Sarovar is one of the larger
and most publicly troubling projects. The Indian government s many claims about this dam have
included that it would irrigate roughly 1.8 million hectares of land in the state of Gujarat, irrigate
73,000 hectares of land in the nearby state Rajasthan, and provide drinkable water to roughly 8000
Gujarati villages and 125 urban centers. (Narula, 2008)

In The Pursuit of Happiness
Individuals try to find happiness, but like water or air, it is hard to clench in your hands. As
defined in Merriam Webster (2014), happiness is a state of well being and contentment. However,
happiness is hard to achieve, but it can be as simple as being contented, doing what you love, and
living who you really are. Furthermore, everyone asks how one would know that they have it
already.
Happiness is hard to achieve. Some people follow several steps in order to get what they want.
People have unlimited wants. However, not all the things they want can give them happiness. Like
what Matthie Ricard (2007) said Happiness is a state of inner fulfillment, not the gratification of
inexhaustible desires for outward things. (p. 31) Happiness is ... Show more content on

One should be the captain of their own ship in order to be happy. Despite the fact that happiness
seems unattainable, it can be as simple as being contented. It is something that comes from people s
action. People should do what they need to. They make things happen and pursue new
understandings. They need to have a sense of purpose. Without purpose, everything is lost. If
people have a sense of purpose in their life, they can easily fulfill their satisfactions. Satisfying
their wants would make them happy. However, being happy is not all about satisfying people s
wants. It is also about being contented with what they have. The growth of happiness is directly
proportional to acceptance and inversely to expectations (Fox, 2007). Acceptance of the things
around a person, whether it is good or bad, can make one truly happy. In everything people do,
one must follow where their heart is. From the simplest things to the hardest ones, people must
follow their heart. In making their decisions and choosing their options, it is best to consult their
own feelings. Following one s heart would really make one happy. It would also avoid regrets in
the end. Since they chose what they really love, they would freely accept whatever the result is.
Happiness is doing what you love. Moreover, people must love what they need to do. They cannot
always do what they only want to do. If people keep

Despite the realized dangers, each actual dollar value of derivatives at present supports between
$35 and $70 of notional value. This means that minimal losses from the face value would suffice
to destroy even the best capitalized derivatives traders (Sivy, 2013). Now, Asian economies begin to
tap into the wealth of opportunities provided by derivative transactions as well. Singapore and
Malaysia are leaders in the region with dedicated derivatives exchanges through the Singapore
Exchange and the Bursa Malaysia respectively. These exchanges facilitate the increase of
derivatives transactions with the SGX s derivatives daily average volume growing 59% year on

Old Testament 9 1

Introduction
Moses is one of the most important if not the most important person in all of the book of Exodus
and the Old Testament. Moses is a very important person in the book of Exodus because he helps
the people of Israel escape Egypt and commits to a new covenant between God and the nation of
Israel. This new covenant between God and Israel promises a land flowing with milk and honey if
they obey God s laws and commandments. In turn Moses leads the people of Israel through a long
journey to the place in which they call the promise land. This is why Moses was such an
important person in God s plan for the nation of Israel. Moses was life is very important ... Show

But Moses complains that he is not the right person and he should find someone else and that
such a burden cannot be handled because of his speech issues. Finally, God replies that he will
send his brother Aaron to assist him. Then Moses again doubts God and says what if Israel doesn
t believe me? Then God tells Moses to tell Israel that I am has sent me to you (ESV Bible, Exodus
3:14). Shortly after this Moses leaves with his family to go to Egypt. I believe this teaches us no
matter what we do or what happens to us God still is still going to use us in his plan. Upon
Moses arrival with his brother Aaron they went to pharaoh and performed all of the miraculous
signs including up to the 10 plagues but pharaoh was ignorant and hardened his heart against
God. Although, the last plague which became the first Passover for the Israelites pharaoh let the
Israelites go because his first born son had been killed. Then Moses leads the people of Israel
out of Egypt but pharaoh hardens his heart again and decides to pursue after the Israelites. Now,
the people of Israel come to the Red Sea where Moses raises his staff and splits the Red Sea and
the Israelites walk on dry land but the pursuing Egyptian army his engulfed by the Red Sea. After

The Importance Of Individualism
Many people look at their government and how it affects them on a day to day basis but do not
see what it does to everyone at once. The government s total authority over a country can vary from
place to place, but they all make laws and rules that constrict their citizens in some way. Sometimes
those laws can either have positive or negative consequences, which is dependent on the
government s views on how to run the country. Those consequences lead the country into one of
two categories individual or collective. The government sets boundaries for individualismbecause of
the laws they put in place for its citizens, which ties them to either side of the spectrum of
individuality and conformity.
Initially, understanding the scale of individualism and collectivism is important when trying to
relate it to a government and its effects on people. Looking at this in a very broad manner doesn t
always clearly define it, however. In an article written by Carrie Rothstein Fisch, this is explained
through the education system. In the United States, a country known for its history of rugged
individualism , the dominant values include independence, self reliance, individual achievement,
and cognitive development. She goes on to add that migrant students from collectivist countries
have a difficult time adjusting. In this example, opposing ends of the spectrum meet, which fuses
them together and creates a middle ground. To elaborate, the primary individualistic teachings of the

Love Triangles In The Arthurian Legend
вќ¤The Triangles of Loveвќ¤ In the Arthurian legend, there are many love affairs that lead to
someone s demise. The first deadly affair is among Gorlois, Igraine, and Uther Pendragon. Then,
towards the climax of the legend, comes the love between King Arthur, Guinevere, and Sir
Lancelot. The relationship between Elaine, Guinevere, and Lancelot is brought to light towards
the end of the legend. Out of the many love triangles that end in a tragedy, one example is the
love among Igraine, Gorlois, and Uther. At first, Igraine is married to Gorlois who is the Duke of
Cornwall. Both Igraine and Gorlois love each other, but apparently, they were not compatible.
According to Merlin and the Lady of the Lake, Viviane, Igraine is going to be married to Uther...

Relationships, Group Cohesion, Team Norms, And Strength
Introduction:
Throughout organizational behaviors we learned a lot about developing relationships, group
cohesion, and team norms / values. On October 6 and November 17, we worked together in our
teams to complete different activates with different instructions. For our first challenge we had to
build a tower using objects that we put into a trash bag. We were judged on Beauty, Height, and
strength. We had a certain time frame to build our tours. On November 17 we were paired up with
a different team and instructed to build a bridge. Each team had to start from their own sides and
meet in the middle. The challenge was that only two team members from each side could talk to
each other and communicate about our ideas for constructing the bridge. ... Show more content on

My name was picked out of a cup so I was the only person who could talk to the other leader in
group 3 who was Anh. Anh and I have worked with each other in the past so we already had a
past relationship. What was really unique was that the leader of the team was randomly picked
randomly so I believe this made the task a little more challenging for each group.
I really liked this exercise because we had put our trust into the other group that we would build
the best bridge and try and win. The first category of trust (Appendix C) is how much confidence
you have you have in other s competence and abilities (Cohen et al, pg. 223) I had a past
relationship with Anh so it was easy for me to trust her because I know she is a very hard
worker and she always got her work don based on the past relationship. I also worked with some
of the members in her group so I felt confident that my team and I could trust them to get things
done. The others team judgement was very sounds (Cohen et al, pg. 233) . They won the
previous contest so it was easy for us to trust that there judgement was good. My team trusted
Anh and her team because we all had a common goal of winning the bridge challenge. We were
working together and collaborating well together. Anh and her team were in no way trying to
harm our welfare (Cohen et al, pg. 233). Both teams collaborated and feel through with what we

During the time of my great grandparent first days, Bolivia tried to copy this constructing the

big gap between the system, the laws that they wanted to execute and the national reality; since the

The Lottery, By Shirley Jackson
Conformity is not based mainly on containing and supporting a society, but also to dominate and
control what is within. The control of repressed individuality benefits those at the top of a power
structure. From early on, men were considered the breadwinners and women were to maintain
households; whether due to a difference in physical, emotional, or mental state; this was an
unquestioned hierarchy. Therefore, any women who pushed back were ultimately punished for
threatening the system. In The Lottery, Shirley Jacksonuses literary devices of symbolism, irony,
and characterization to reveal the danger of blind obedience, and implanting the thought of
resistance for women. To an extent, conformity is necessary in reality; time has shown that laws,
rules, and regulations that are innately bad can serve as the catalyst for rebellion, as recorded for the
French Revolution, Vietnam War, and Czarist Russia. Conformity lays the groundwork for good
laws to be constructed, and until that time, men are able to abuse and utilized the current laws for
their own superior gain. One of the biggest rebellions is backed purely by feminism, where women
are repressed by men. Unfortunately, in the past not many women knew their true value, and were
prematurely silenced; however, Jackson is revealing the reality of the restraints.
The author utilizes symbolism throughout her storyline to great effect. The physical properties, the
black box, the slips of paper, the placing of the box on the

The Reform And Governmental Statistics On The United States
Since the passage of the ACA, a total of 14.1 million adults have acquired health insurance
coverage, however, a distinction must be made; the ACA was created to expand health insurance,
not to better health care (Office of The Assistant Secretary For Planning and Evaluation, 2015).
Texas being the number one state in all of the U.S. with more than 5 million Texans (19% of the
population) uninsured in 2014 (this was a decrease of 700,000 individuals in 2013) would be
expected to hold great support in order to lower the high rates of the uninsured (Walters, 2015). In

Medicaid is a system of inflexible mandates, one size fits all requirements, and wasteful,
bureaucratic inefficiencies. Expanding it as the PPACA provides would only exacerbate the failure
of the current system, and would threaten even Texas with financial ruin (Perry, 2012).
Perry s strong opposition to the ACA makes it questionable whether the reform is for the benefit of
the people or if it benefits the government monetarily. The current Governor of Texas, Greg Abbot,
stated his thoughts of the ACA by stating,
The Supreme Court abandoned the Constitution to resuscitate a failing healthcare law. Today s
action underscores why it is now more important than ever to ensure we elect a President who
will repeal Obamacare and enact real healthcare reforms (Office of The Governor Greg Abbott,
2015). Senator Ted Cruz also expresses his thoughts on Obamacare as being a manifest disaster
(Jones, 2015). On a live interview on the Road To The White House on C Span Senator Cruz states,
I think health care reform ought to expand competition, it ought to empower patients and it ought to
disempower government bureaucrats from getting in between us and our doctors. I think the best

Neil Shubin s Your Inner Fish
There are many differences present between species in the animal kingdom. There are also many
variations of breeds, mutations within the same species, behavior, etc. Neil Shubin s Your Inner
Fish focuses on the similarities rather than differences of behaviors, variation in animal
psychology, and morphology because of habitat. This book emphasizes three types of evidence.
The first are the similarities between body parts of living creatures to compare common ancestry.
The second are the indications from microbiology to also compare common ancestry. Finally, the

his book, Shubin points out how organs in various creatures are extremely similar. He focuses in

The Human Soul And The Soul s Salvation
In his letter to the priest, Sixtus, Augustine claims that ...when [humans] suppose that free choice is
taken away if they agree that a human being cannot have a good will without the help of God, they
do not understand that they do not strengthen human choice... he establishes one of the most
debated concepts of the Reformation period: The human soulcannot save its self. This idea of
Soteriology, expressed in his Letter 194 presents only one side of the argument. On the other side
of the spectrum of soteriological ideology was Pelagius s argument that to be just in Gods sight, a
person must be pure in both body and heart. Through the use of Augustine s Letter 194 as well as
Pelagius s Letter to Demetrias I will first summarize each author s argument on how much of a role
human free willcan contribute to the immortal soul s salvation. Then I will explain why both
sides of the argument appealed to large groups, and why each view point remained debated all the
way into the Reformation period. Before either argument can be dissected however, some issues
with the sources must be addressed. Firstly, Pelagius s text Letter to Demetrias has been translated
from its original language into English. Pelagius was very learned in both Latin and Greek,
meaning that the original text was probably written in one of these languages. The translation into
English means that there was an opportunity for error, and for details to get lost. It is also known

Tracing Changes in Pythagoras Speech in Ovid s Metamorphoses
Change in Ovid, as well as in life, seems to be the only constant. Change is the subject of the
Metamorphoses and Ovid s purpose in recounting myths is established from the very beginning: My
intention is to tell of bodies changed to different forms... with a poem that runs from the world s
beginning to our own days (1.1 4). From this foundation, Ovid launches into his stories, using
metamorphosis more as a vehicle for telling his stories than as an actual subject matter. Although he
retells religious myths, Ovid is not writing a religious manuscript. Rather, the product is a work of
literature. Ovid is conscious that he is writing literature, not religion, and ... Show more content on

By contrast, Ovid s motives in narrating myths in the Metamorphoses are rarely ulterior. Most
myths are free of the religious implications and the moralistic nuances that his Greek
predecessors used as the backbone of their plays and poems. Instead, Ovid chooses to entertain
his readership by his brilliant language and delight them with not only absorbing tales, but also
with his masterful talent of weaving narratives together. Let us not be overzealous and label Ovid
as an entertainer, for his themes and purpose change as quickly as the stories he narrates. Rather, it
is safer to say that Ovid relieves his audience of any ulterior religious or moral meaning.
Pythagoras, on the other hand, inveighs against his audience to refrain from meat eating, in some
cases comparing them to cannibals like Thyestes and the Cyclops. Pythagoras neglects to give a
reason for not eating meat, waiting almost a hundred lines to explain that the spirit comes and
goes, is housed wherever it wills, shifts residence from beasts to men, from men to beasts (15.171
173). Our souls, Pythagoras claims, are deathless... when they leave our bodies, they find new
dwelling places (15.162 164). Pythagoras asserts that the spirit, or soul, is the same in men and
animals since man can be reincarnated into beast and vice versa; therefore, eating an animal is
equivalent to cannibalism. A contemporary of Pythagoras, Xenophanes, mocked this belief in the

Reflection On The Treatment Of Prisoners
Our society tends to jump to conclusions and make assumptions of prisoners. Despite what they
have committed and how severe it may be they are still human. We look at them as if they are
inhumane because they are in prison. They still deserve some of the rights that they had before
being convicted. I m not saying that I am okay with the crimes they have committed but I am okay
with them having a little more of their basic rights. I think the treatment of prisoners should also be
reconsidered. I think that they deserve more time outside of their cells. Inmates only get a certain
amount of time outside which I think is entirely unfair. I also think that their visitation rights should
be reconsidered. As of right now they are only aloud to talk to their visitors over a telephone. What
if they have been in prisonfor years? I think they should get to physically visit with their visitors
and not just talk over a phone. Prisoners do have the constitutional right to enjoy contact visits
and I think that this should be reconsidered and changed. Prisoners do not get to choose the work
that they are permitted to. I also think this is unfair and they should be able to pick what they do
for work. In doing so, this will solve some of the problems of prisoners acting out and will result
in less cruel punishment of prisoners. There are things that can be changed that will solve a lot of
the issues that guards may have with the prisoners. Prisoners are not allowed to do many things.

their sustainability practices to external stakeholders. The practice of an assurance statement in
sustainability reports serves as a communication mechanism as it arguably enhances the clarity and
reliability of these statements (Deegan, Cooper and Shelly, 2006).
The trend that I have found through researching legitimacy and sustainability are the four
stakeholders driving companies to initiate sustainability practices are customers, employees,
shareholders and policy makers. In 2012, Ernst Young, in cooperation with GreenBiz Group,
released a report that discussed six trends that are growing in corporate sustainability and through

2.A) The Indian River Lagoon surprisingly is not a river at all! A river is any body of water that
has headwaters and flows into a mouth. The Indian River lagoon has none of the above. When it
does flow, it does so in many directions depending on the winds, tides, etc. So what is the Indian
River Lagoon classified as? It is considered to be an estuary. That means that the freshwater
draining from the land mixes with the ocean s salt water. Because of all of these factors, there is an
abundance of animal and plant life living within its boundaries.
B) The afore mentioned estuary characteristic is more specifically called a lagoon. This means
that it is a body of water separated from the ocean by barrier islands and because of this has
limited exchange with the ocean through inlets. What makes the Indian River Lagoon so special is
the fact that it is North America s most diverse estuary. There are more than 2,200 different species
of animals and 2,100 species of plants living within it.
C) The lagoon stretches about 150 miles: from Ponce De Leon Inlet to Jupiter Inlet. It compromise
of three major water bodies: Mosquito Lagoon, Banana River and

Mary Shelley Is The Author Of The Famed Novel Frankenstein.
Mary Shelley is the author of the famed novel Frankenstein. The era in which Frankenstein was
published happened to be one where religion was followed in more of a strict manner than today
s society follows. The monster in the novel was viewed as an abomination not only in its
existence, but even as an idea. Although the novel was released unanimously, it was critiqued
mostly from a religious standpoint. Critiques gave reviews saying that it was unintellectual work
that was not worth the time it took to read because they saw it as a threat to their religion. Mary
Shelley herself never specified anything for or against religion, although her husband did. Once it
was discovered that Mary Shelley was in fact the author of Frankenstein, many... Show more

Mary never knew her mother because she died a few days after childbirth, and the woman that
her father remarried to was not an ideal or loving mother figure. She and Shelley did not get
along at all. Once she came into the picture, Mary did not enjoy her life at home. She loved her
little family, but she yearned to get away from all of their chaos. That s why she would go and
read or write by her mother s grave or in any other calm place she could find. That s also why she
created Frankenstein s mother to be so loving, gentle, patient, and nurturing. She made
Frankenstein s mother based off of the way she viewed her own departed mother in her head, and
the way that Frankenstein suddenly wanted to prevent death and disease because of her death was
probably what Shelley wished she could have done for the mother she never knew.
Mary also used many of her mother s beliefs in the novel. Wollstonecraft had a very hard life in
her early days. She lived in a financially unstable home and was taken over by domestic abuse and
alcohol addiction. Motivated by the life she once endured, he decided to support herself as a
professional writer rather than remaining dependent on others to care for her. She always wrote
about the political and philosophical issues in the world. An example of this would be her writing
about the wrong inherit rights of not only women, but of men. She believed in the concept of men
and women in society having equal rights to education. She fought

The Go-Between
The Go Between
The story The Go Between is a short story written by Ali Smith in 2009. The story was written for
a collection of short stories written to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the United Nations adoption
of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The story is inspired by Article 13, which stands for
the right to freedom of movement.
In the story we read about a 33 year old man who s name is not revealed. The 33 year old man is a
former microbiologist and has worked in a university. In the text we follow this man who gives
the reader a directly insight in how it s like to be an African refugee trying to cross the border
between Morocco and Spain. The narrator of the story has tried several times to cross the border ...

I speak these, and also some others. (P.3, ll.31 32) Even with all these qualifications it is not
possible for the narrator to enter Europe. He is simply limited because of his origin and the color
of his skin. The narrator feels that he and the other refugees are invisible and not wanted, it s
almost like he doesn t exist. A flower will be planted for every single person in Tangier. But not
us. Not me. I m not here...I m speaking to you and I m not really here. (P.5, l.116 118)
The refugees wish so desperately to enter Europe that the narrator describes it as the Spanish
blindness. From the coast of Morocco you are able to see the lights from Spain and the Spanish
border and all the refugees can think of is how much they want to leave Morocco and enter
Europe. The refugees also pay all their money to a Network that promises them a boat, but the
Network only takes advantage of the desperate refugees so the boat never arrives. All the men in
this building suffer from it, Spanish Blindness. All you can see is Spain. All you can think is
Spain tonight, Spain tonight. They have paid all their money to the Network, and the Network has
prom ised a boat, maybe tonight. This boat never comes. (P.4, l.73 75) The narrator claims that he
does not have this Spanish blindness anymore, that belongs to the past and he actually says that he
wishes he could go back, but that s not a possibility, he have to move forward. My

Theme Of Imagination In A Midsummer Night Dream
A Midsummer s Night Dream by William Shakespeare demonstrates that imagination is an
amazing thing, as it allows the audience to think differently and be unique and form new ideas,
concepts and images. Shakespeare s play uses an immense amount of imagination to help
develop the story create conflicts and complications to engage the audience. Imagination is also
used in the way Shakespeare presents the play to the audience and in the way the characters are
presented. Imagination is used a lot in A Midsummer s Night Dream to help develop the story.
An example of Shakespeare using imagination to help develop the story is when he added fairies
to the story which the mortals were unaware of. This added a completely different aspect to the
play as it created more complications and helped develop the issues they were facing. For
example when Oberon and Titania were fighting over the Indian prince, Oberon ordered Puck
his jester to harvest a magical love flower. This love flower caused Demetrius and Lysander who
both loved Hermia to both love Helena instead. This caused a lot of conflict and confusion and
lead Helena to believe that Lysander, Demetrius and Hermia were trying to make fun of her.
Damn it! I see you re all determined to gang up on me for a few laughs. (Sparknotes, 2003:95) all
this drama caused by the fairies helped make for a more interesting play and developed the
storyline of the play even further. Besides Shakespeare using imagination to develop his
storyline, he also utilised a lot of imagination in the way that he presented the play to the
audience. An example of Shakespeare s unique ways of presenting a play was the idea of having
the characters in A Midsummer s Night Dream put on a play within the play. Shakespeare s idea
of having a play within the play showcased and used a lot of imagination. For example, when the
craftsmen, who were putting on the play had limited resources and had to have someone play the
part of the wall. Which Pyramus and Thisbe whom were the main characters in the craftsmen s play
would talk through, scenes like this in the craftsmen s play showcased a lot of imagination. Even
though the play that the craftsmen presented was poorly rehearsed and didn t use many

Coincidental Jinx Research Paper
A Coincidental Jinx
Throughout my many years of living, I have experienced many near death experiences. Today, I
will be sharing one of these experiences that I have been through. First of all, it was the March
23, 2012. It was a Friday. I, young Daryl, was still learning his basic math with a bowl cut on his
head at the age of 11. School ended. My sister Gerryl and I were just picked up around 3:20 p.m.
and arrived home approximately at 3:25 p.m. My sister Gerryl suggested with eagerness, Mom,
Dad are we able to watch that new movie that just came out today, The Hunger Games? My father,
then replied, Sure, let me just get my computer and reserve the movie for the four of us. The time
was then reserved at 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon. We... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I decided to sit in the front as the navigator alongside with my father having possession of the
wheel. As my father was driving, my sister was explaining why she is so excited to watch the
movie. My sister then proclaimed, It s a movie that is based on the novel written by Suzanne Col .
At that moment my sister stopped midway through her conversation, pointing with fear at a
motorcyclist having blood gushing through his leg. The man glanced deep into my eyes, and I
thought in my mind that will never happen to me. It was a tragedy when I observed the accident,
and I was acting a bit too conceited. Two miles had passed the traffic from this accident was
tremendous, a full stop. Luckily, my father spotted in the corner of his pupil that the nearest lane to
the sidewalk was accessible, and nobody was driving on it surprisingly. We went ahead to move
to the right, changing lanes carefully to reach the lane. At that instant, my dad then increased
speed to 45 miles per hour to get to the theatre slightly quicker. As we were advancing through
this lane at immense speed, a Toyota Civic with a brown tint then tried to change lanes. My dad
was furious that he did not want the car to cut him off when it was his right of way. My dad then
commented with a temper, No! Stomping on the gas pedal, he increased his acceleration to a
rushing 75 miles per hour to prevent the car from cutting us off. The car continued to change
lanes carelessly without a turn signal. At that moment, all I remembered was glass being
shattered everywhere. My heart then stopped, and I was whiplashed with massive force having
my head collide with the dashboard. Furthermore, all I saw was pitch black, and I did not know
what was happening. After six minutes have passed, I regained some consciousness, shaking my
head and trying to gain coordination with my eyes. All that I could hear is an old woman s voice

Lupe As A Role Model
Most people think being a role model is like a popularity contest, they think it s easy. People
think all they have to do is fit in with the crowd so they can be popular. But being a role model is
not an easy task, although Lupe makes it look that way when she doesn t even fit in. In the story,
The MarbleChamp, by Gary Soto, Lupe is a very good role model. Lupe shows this by being a good
sport, always working hard, and by being intelligent.
One reason why I think Lupe is a good role model is because she is very intelligent. As proof,
Lupe s academic grades are straight A s. This shows that Lupe is intelligent because not many
people get straight A s on their report card every year of school. Secondly, Lupe is intelligent
because she has won multiple awards. For example, Lupe won the school spelling bee, she won the
blue ribbon award in the science fair, she was the winner of a reading contest at the library three
summers in a row, she was also the top student in her piano recital, and she was the playground
champion of chess. Talk about a ton of awards, right? Lupe feels like none of these awards mean
anything though. Lupe wishes she could win some type of award in athletics, so that she can
keep up with the other girls in her school, that s why Lupe is working towards her goal of being
the marble champion. Also, in one case in the story, when Lupe was playing marbles on her bed,
she figured out that her bedspread was slowing down the marbles as she shot them. This

Makeup Industry Analysis Paper
For the black woman struggling to find the right shade of makeup have no fear! It has always
been very difficult to find shades of foundation that represent the numerous numbers of shades
the melanin filled woman, or man, comes in. The beauty industry is now expanding! Each of
these products has been evaluated first hand by friends, family, top beauty gurus, and me. I will
evaluate the price, product coverage, and color spectrum of each product. The price determines
affordability and product quality. Product coverage tells how much surface area the makeup
will cover and how much product is used to achieve that coverage. The final and perhaps most
important quality of a foundation brand is the color spectrum available. If a brand only limits
itself to the skin tones of a light skin African American or even a tanned Caucasian then that
brand is not considered POC, People of Color, friendly. Product range matters, especially when
trying to reach a large audience. Starting with Kat Von D s Lock it Foundation, this foundation is
for those who are trying to look their absolute best 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Lock it
Foundation is a high end product with a selection of 30 different shades ranging from Light to
Deep. It also includes cool, neutral, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of the product used is very small. The consumer can choose to add more layers of foundation if
desired, but this product will last at least a year after purchase. With its 24 hour claim the consumer

Anthropogenic eutrophication is due to fertilizer runoff from surrounding areas and could convert oligotrophic lakes into eutrophic lakes. Impact that file format, compression techniques, image resolution and colour depth have on file size and image quality D2 In this report I will be discussing the different file formats, compression techniques, image resolution and colour depth. I will be explaining the different purposes, then, after I have issued an in depth explanation of image quality and file size I will be completing a final conclusion about the best ones to use for certain tasks. Seen as there are numerous different uses for images it means that the quality will differ for different purposes. The formats which I will be discussing within this report include JPEG, GIF s, TIF, PSD and BMP. All these formats are made for different reasons and I will be explaining these differences in quality and file size. Each format varies in the depth of the colour within the image, some have larger colour depth meaning that the file size will be larger, whereas, some of these formats have very low colour depth resulting in a lower quality image. When exporting an image, sometimes there is an option to adjust the colour depth to your preference, so, the file format could change to your desired colour depth. Compression techniques When compressing a file to make it smaller there are two options which are available, Lossy and Lossless. Jessie Pope War Women Analysis Masculinity and Femininity in Jessie Pope s war poems: War Girls and The Call The world wars have greatly impacted modern British literature in the 20th century. There were many poems written about the period of war; some showed them in a positive light and some negative. Gender roles, gender relations on what means to be a man or a womanimpacted greatly during this time. In particular with World War I , women in large numbers took over jobs in the homeland while the men were out fighting. Questions on what is femininity and what is masculinity were on the rise. Men were constantly fed with the idea that they should be drafted into the war. This propaganda was seen everywhere during this era due to the self interests of the British... That is not the whole story because in the 5th line, this gender is called Strong, sensible, and fit, This stands out in the poem as it follows the rule of 3 of a poem to describe the qualities of the new woman now. It is controversial to the usual perspective of a woman since these adjectives are associated with a man more than a woman. This exhibits that the typical views of what femininity is changed during the wartime. The usage of the word grit in line 6 is also a word associated with masculinity but it is used in the poem to describe women. The poem also shows femininity to be related to toil because Pope mentions a girl who does a milk round in the rain (3). The physical hard work of the woman is to be revered according to Pope. The imagery of not being caged or penned up anymore (7) is a strong one it explains that the war brought redemption and freedom to women. A definitive declarative statement is made in the 9th line of the poem, They re going to make their end up , Pope is manifesting her confidence in the women of Britain who are serving their country by being the workforce. The shift in the gender roles is empowering for women during the wartime and Pope associates this with patriotism as well. • 13. Benefits Of An Electronic Health Record ( Emr ) Many patients do not fully understand the benefits as well as the drawbacks of an Electronic Health Record (EMR); however, there are many of both. The first major benefit is that you, as a patient, no longer have to remind the provider of previous information, such as orders or allergies. This greatly increases efficiency in terms of patient visit times. Another benefit of an EMR is that a doctor is much less likely to provide medication in error. For example, a patient could currently be taking a daily dose of Aspirin, which is a blood thinner. If their doctor did not know this medication was in use and prescribed them Warfarin, which is also a blood thinner, they have a much higher risk of bleeding. With an EHR, this data is most likely stored in the system, as long as the physician was aware of this. If they were, the system would alert them of this, which would prompt the physician of this, and would not let them order the medication without signing off, agreeing that they are aware of the conflict. There is always a chance for human error, but with an EHR, this is greatly decreased. A negative effect of an EHR, which many patients are aware of, is the change in visit. When paper records were in effect, the doctor could visit with the patient face to face, but there is much more typing and checkboxes involved with current visits, so the physician is now required to spend as much time on the computer as they do with the patient. The Failure Of The World Bank Essay The Failure of the World Bank s Sardar Sarovar Dam project in India Lira Samanta The World Bank is known to fund many infrastructure projects in developing countries, presumably as a means to achieve their goals of increasing development in those countries. Hydroelectric dams are some of the much maligned infrastructure projects funded by the World Bank. In a report authored by employees of the World Bank itself, the authors themselves highlight the adverse environmental and related social impacts of large dams, while attempting to draw a distinction between relatively good dams and bad dams . (Ledec Quintero, 2003) One example of a hydroelectric dam funded by the World Bank is the Sardar Sarovar Dam in India. The World Bank funded Sardar Sarovar in 1985, approving $450 million in loans for the development of this dam. (Bosshard, 2008) This development was envisioned as part of the Narmada Valley Development Project, also known as the Narmada Project , the scope of which included the provisioning of thirty large dams, 135 medium dams, and 3000 small dams. Without purpose, everything is lost. If people have a sense of purpose in their life, they can easily fulfill their satisfactions. Satisfying their wants would make them happy. However, being happy is not all about satisfying people s wants. It is also about being contented with what they have. The growth of happiness is directly proportional to acceptance and inversely to expectations (Fox, 2007). The government s total authority over a country can vary from place to place, but they all make laws and rules that constrict their citizens in some way. Sometimes those laws can either have positive or negative consequences, which is dependent on the government s views on how to run the country. Those consequences lead the country into one of two categories individual or collective. The government sets boundaries for individualismbecause of the laws they put in place for its citizens, which ties them to either side of the spectrum of individuality and conformity. Initially, understanding the scale of individualism and collectivism is important when trying to relate it to a government and its effects on people. Looking at this in a very broad manner doesn t always clearly define it, however. In an article written by Carrie Rothstein Fisch, this is explained through the education system. Relationships, Group Cohesion, Team Norms, And Strength Introduction: Throughout organizational behaviors we learned a lot about developing relationships, group cohesion, and team norms / values. On October 6 and November 17, we worked together in our teams to complete different activates with different instructions. For our first challenge we had to build a tower using objects that we put into a trash bag. We were judged on Beauty, Height, and strength. We had a certain time frame to build our tours. On November 17 we were paired up with a different team and instructed to build a bridge. Each team had to start from their own sides and meet in the middle. I really liked this exercise because we had put our trust into the other group that we would build the best bridge and try and win. The first category of trust (Appendix C) is how much confidence you have you have in other s competence and abilities (Cohen et al, pg. 223) I had a past relationship with Anh so it was easy for me to trust her because I know she is a very hard worker and she always got her work don based on the past relationship. • 26. The Lottery, By Shirley Jackson Conformity is not based mainly on containing and supporting a society, but also to dominate and control what is within. The control of repressed individuality benefits those at the top of a power structure. From early on, men were considered the breadwinners and women were to maintain households; whether due to a difference in physical, emotional, or mental state; this was an unquestioned hierarchy. Therefore, any women who pushed back were ultimately punished for threatening the system. In The Lottery, Shirley Jacksonuses literary devices of symbolism, irony, and characterization to reveal the danger of blind obedience, and implanting the thought of resistance for women. To an extent, conformity is necessary in reality; time has shown that laws, rules, and regulations that are innately bad can serve as the catalyst for rebellion, as recorded for the French Revolution, Vietnam War, and Czarist Russia. Conformity lays the groundwork for good laws to be constructed, and until that time, men are able to abuse and utilized the current laws for their own superior gain. One of the biggest rebellions is backed purely by feminism, where women are repressed by men. Unfortunately, in the past not many women knew their true value, and were prematurely silenced; however, Jackson is revealing the reality of the restraints. The author utilizes symbolism throughout her storyline to great effect. The physical properties, the black box, the slips of paper, the placing of the box on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Texas being the number one state in all of the U.S. with more than 5 million Texans (19% of the population) uninsured in 2014 (this was a decrease of 700,000 individuals in 2013) would be expected to hold great support in order to lower the high rates of the uninsured (Walters, 2015). The Human Soul And The Soul s Salvation In his letter to the priest, Sixtus, Augustine claims that ...when [humans] suppose that free choice is taken away if they agree that a human being cannot have a good will without the help of God, they do not understand that they do not strengthen human choice... he establishes one of the most debated concepts of the Reformation period: The human soulcannot save its self. This idea of Soteriology, expressed in his Letter 194 presents only one side of the argument. On the other side of the spectrum of soteriological ideology was Pelagius s argument that to be just in Gods sight, a person must be pure in both body and heart. Through the use of Augustine s Letter 194 as well as Pelagius s Letter to Demetrias I will first summarize each author s argument on how much of a role human free willcan contribute to the immortal soul s salvation. Then I will explain why both sides of the argument appealed to large groups, and why each view point remained debated all the way into the Reformation period. Before either argument can be dissected however, some issues with the sources must be addressed. Firstly, Pelagius s text Letter to Demetrias has been translated from its original language into English. From this foundation, Ovid launches into his stories, using metamorphosis more as a vehicle for telling his stories than as an actual subject matter. Let us not be overzealous and label Ovid as an entertainer, for his themes and purpose change as quickly as the stories he narrates. Rather, it is safer to say that Ovid relieves his audience of any ulterior religious or moral meaning. Pythagoras, on the other hand, inveighs against his audience to refrain from meat eating, in some cases comparing them to cannibals like Thyestes and the Cyclops. Pythagoras neglects to give a reason for not eating meat, waiting almost a hundred lines to explain that the spirit comes and goes, is housed wherever it wills, shifts residence from beasts to men, from men to beasts (15.171 173). I m not saying that I am okay with the crimes they have committed but I am okay with them having a little more of their basic rights. I think the treatment of prisoners should also be reconsidered. I think that they deserve more time outside of their cells. Inmates only get a certain amount of time outside which I think is entirely unfair. I also think that their visitation rights should be reconsidered. As of right now they are only aloud to talk to their visitors over a telephone. What if they have been in prisonfor years? I think they should get to physically visit with their visitors and not just talk over a phone. Prisoners do have the constitutional right to enjoy contact visits and I think that this should be reconsidered and changed. Prisoners do not get to choose the work that they are permitted to. I also think this is unfair and they should be able to pick what they do for work. In doing so, this will solve some of the problems of prisoners acting out and will result in less cruel punishment of prisoners. Critiques gave reviews saying that it was unintellectual work that was not worth the time it took to read because they saw it as a threat to their religion. Mary Shelley herself never specified anything for or against religion, although her husband did. Once it was discovered that Mary Shelley was in fact the author of Frankenstein, many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mary never knew her mother because she died a few days after childbirth, and the woman that her father remarried to was not an ideal or loving mother figure. She and Shelley did not get along at all. Once she came into the picture, Mary did not enjoy her life at home. She loved her little family, but she yearned to get away from all of their chaos. That s why she would go and read or write by her mother s grave or in any other calm place she could find. That s also why she created Frankenstein s mother to be so loving, gentle, patient, and nurturing. She made Frankenstein s mother based off of the way she viewed her own departed mother in her head, and the way that Frankenstein suddenly wanted to prevent death and disease because of her death was probably what Shelley wished she could have done for the mother she never knew. Mary also used many of her mother s beliefs in the novel. Wollstonecraft had a very hard life in her early days. She lived in a financially unstable home and was taken over by domestic abuse and alcohol addiction. Motivated by the life she once endured, he decided to support herself as a professional writer rather than remaining dependent on others to care for her. She always wrote about the political and philosophical issues in the world. An example of this would be her writing about the wrong inherit rights of not only women, but of men. She believed in the concept of men and women in society having equal rights to education. She fought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Theme Of Imagination In A Midsummer Night Dream A Midsummer s Night Dream by William Shakespeare demonstrates that imagination is an amazing thing, as it allows the audience to think differently and be unique and form new ideas, concepts and images. Shakespeare s play uses an immense amount of imagination to help develop the story create conflicts and complications to engage the audience. Imagination is also used in the way Shakespeare presents the play to the audience and in the way the characters are presented. Imagination is used a lot in A Midsummer s Night Dream to help develop the story. An example of Shakespeare using imagination to help develop the story is when he added fairies to the story which the mortals were unaware of. This added a completely different aspect to the play as it created more complications and helped develop the issues they were facing. For example when Oberon and Titania were fighting over the Indian prince, Oberon ordered Puck his jester to harvest a magical love flower. This love flower caused Demetrius and Lysander who both loved Hermia to both love Helena instead. This caused a lot of conflict and confusion and lead Helena to believe that Lysander, Demetrius and Hermia were trying to make fun of her. Damn it! I see you re all determined to gang up on me for a few laughs. (Sparknotes, 2003:95) all this drama caused by the fairies helped make for a more interesting play and developed the storyline of the play even further. Besides Shakespeare using imagination to develop his storyline, he also utilised a lot of imagination in the way that he presented the play to the audience. An example of Shakespeare s unique ways of presenting a play was the idea of having the characters in A Midsummer s Night Dream put on a play within the play. Shakespeare s idea of having a play within the play showcased and used a lot of imagination. For example, when the craftsmen, who were putting on the play had limited resources and had to have someone play the part of the wall. Which Pyramus and Thisbe whom were the main characters in the craftsmen s play would talk through, scenes like this in the craftsmen s play showcased a lot of imagination. Even though the play that the craftsmen presented was poorly rehearsed and didn t use many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Coincidental Jinx Research Paper A Coincidental Jinx Throughout my many years of living, I have experienced many near death experiences. Today, I will be sharing one of these experiences that I have been through. First of all, it was the March 23, 2012. It was a Friday. I, young Daryl, was still learning his basic math with a bowl cut on his head at the age of 11. School ended. My sister Gerryl and I were just picked up around 3:20 p.m. and arrived home approximately at 3:25 p.m. My sister Gerryl suggested with eagerness, Mom, Dad are we able to watch that new movie that just came out today, The Hunger Games? My father, then replied, Sure, let me just get my computer and reserve the movie for the four of us. The time was then reserved at 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon. We... As my father was driving, my sister was explaining why she is so excited to watch the movie. My sister then proclaimed, It s a movie that is based on the novel written by Suzanne Col . At that moment my sister stopped midway through her conversation, pointing with fear at a motorcyclist having blood gushing through his leg. The man glanced deep into my eyes, and I thought in my mind that will never happen to me. It was a tragedy when I observed the accident, and I was acting a bit too conceited. Two miles had passed the traffic from this accident was tremendous, a full stop. Luckily, my father spotted in the corner of his pupil that the nearest lane to the sidewalk was accessible, and nobody was driving on it surprisingly. We went ahead to move to the right, changing lanes carefully to reach the lane. At that instant, my dad then increased speed to 45 miles per hour to get to the theatre slightly quicker. As we were advancing through this lane at immense speed, a Toyota Civic with a brown tint then tried to change lanes. My dad was furious that he did not want the car to cut him off when it was his right of way. My dad then commented with a temper, No! Stomping on the gas pedal, he increased his acceleration to a rushing 75 miles per hour to prevent the car from cutting us off. The car continued to change lanes carelessly without a turn signal. At that moment, all I remembered was glass being shattered everywhere. My heart then stopped, and I was whiplashed with massive force having my head collide with the dashboard. Furthermore, all I saw was pitch black, and I did not know what was happening. After six minutes have passed, I regained some consciousness, shaking my head and trying to gain coordination with my eyes. All that I could hear is an old woman s voice with ... • 48. Lupe As A Role Model Most people think being a role model is like a popularity contest, they think it s easy. People think all they have to do is fit in with the crowd so they can be popular. But being a role model is not an easy task, although Lupe makes it look that way when she doesn t even fit in. In the story, The MarbleChamp, by Gary Soto, Lupe is a very good role model. Lupe shows this by being a good sport, always working hard, and by being intelligent. One reason why I think Lupe is a good role model is because she is very intelligent. As proof, Lupe s academic grades are straight A s. This shows that Lupe is intelligent because not many people get straight A s on their report card every year of school. Secondly, Lupe is intelligent because she has won multiple awards. For example, Lupe won the school spelling bee, she won the blue ribbon award in the science fair, she was the winner of a reading contest at the library three summers in a row, she was also the top student in her piano recital, and she was the playground champion of chess. Talk about a ton of awards, right? Lupe feels like none of these awards mean anything though. Lupe wishes she could win some type of award in athletics, so that she can keep up with the other girls in her school, that s why Lupe is working towards her goal of being the marble champion. Also, in one case in the story, when Lupe was playing marbles on her bed, she figured out that her bedspread was slowing down the marbles as she shot them. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has always been very difficult to find shades of foundation that represent the numerous numbers of shades the melanin filled woman, or man, comes in. The beauty industry is now expanding! Each of these products has been evaluated first hand by friends, family, top beauty gurus, and me. I will evaluate the price, product coverage, and color spectrum of each product. The price determines affordability and product quality. Product coverage tells how much surface area the makeup will cover and how much product is used to achieve that coverage. The final and perhaps most important quality of a foundation brand is the color spectrum available. If a brand only limits itself to the skin tones of a light skin African American or even a tanned Caucasian then that brand is not considered POC, People of Color, friendly.
