What Is Ifemelu Moving Back To America
In Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie s novel Americanah, Is about a woman who is from Nigeria where she
moves to America and decides to move back to Nigeria after many years of being in America. Claim
statement being Ifemelu s move back to Nigeria after many years of experience in America has
changed her cultural identity.
The beginning of the chapter at the moment Ifemelu arrived back in her homeland of America in
Nigeria. At first Lagos assaulted her; the sun dazed haste, the yellow buses full of squashed limbs, the
sweating hikers racing cars, the advertisements on hulking billboards (others scrawled on walls
PLUMBER CALL 080177777) and the heaps of rubbish that rose on the roadsides like a taunt. (475

She no longer has or wants to ask Ranyinudo for advice in going to the market when she felt super
uncomfortable doing, and she is used to waking up to the sound of the screaming peacocks. The
speedboat was gliding on foaming water, past beaches of ivory sand, and trees bursting, well fed
green. Ifemelu was laughing/ she caught herself in mid laughter, and looked at her present, an orange
life jacket strapped around her, a ship in the graying distance, her friends in their sunglasses, on their
way to Priye s friend s beach house, where they would grill meat and race barefoot. She thought: I m
really home, I m home (506 Adichie) Connecting to the claim, Ifemelu emotional identity sets back to
her past towards her future. Here it states that Ifemelu feels home again, she feels more comfortable
with where she originally is from as in her home country, instead of having an American culture from
America, she starts to actually settle in and enjoy herself again like before she moved from Nigeria to
America. This supports the claim of identity because Ifemelu shifted from being offended when she
came back to Nigeria from America and then she then started to try to get settled in naturally by just
letting the days pass

M42 Duster
The Fire Dragon of Vietnam During the Vietnam War the M42 (Duster) tracked self propelled anti
aircraft gun (SPAAG) vehicle influenced the future versatility and capabilities of the Air Defense
Artillery systems of today s United States Army. This system put a lasting impression on the minds
and confidence of the American Army Soldiers. These Soldiers actively participated in defending the
South Vietnamese from the North Vietnamese and its southern allies, known as the Viet Cong (or
Vietnamese Communist). Not only did the M42 Duster (SPAAG) raise the moral and boost confidence
with the American Soldiers, it instilled fear and discouraged the enemy from attacking positions that

Modern Art History
When I was five years old, my parents took me to the Louvre. Although I was not familiar with all the
famous European artists and how much the paintings valued, I was mesmerized by the animated
pictures on the wall. Standing before the painting, I felt an unspeakable pleasure permitted only to god
himself. From that moment, I knew I was destined to be an artist, just like them in the Louvre. With
the intense passion I had for arts, I kept digging the deeper level of artistic technique and appreciation.
Unfortunately, as I learnt more about art history and style, I could not resist a sense of boredom. Now
technology was developing at a rapid rate, but, in contrast, traditional arts became more and more pale
and powerless. However, in their time, artists like Da Vinci and Raphael were superstars like Lady
Gaga in our time. Just as Renaissance saved the art field once, I thought the art world needed another
revolution now more than ever. And I could feel the fire burning in my chest and calling my destiny to
lead. Combining modern technology with the artistic skills, Virtual Reality filled every criterion I had
for a new art type. It would draw enough attention because of its novelty and in the same time
maximize the value of art design. Excited by my groundbreaking idea, I started to gather information
about the working mechanism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Others may sneeze at our work and point to the development of Virtual Reality in Silicon Valley.
However, as saw it, we were at a great start. With the mechanical engineering and computer science
courses provided by the world renowned professors and best students all over the world as coworkers
in Cornell University, I believe I am standing on the shoulder of giants. I am sure that given the
opportunity to develop myself at my dream school, I would fulfill all my ambition at Cornell

Linda Tirado On Child Rearing
More than 16 million children in the United States 22% of all children live in families with incomes
below the federal poverty level $23,550 a year for a family of four. Research shows that, on average,
families need an income of about twice that level to cover basic expenses. Using this standard, 45% of
children live in low income families ( NCCP Child Poverty ). With these alarming statistics it should
be no question as to whether if one is living in poverty should one be having children. The importance
of proper child rearing is essential to child development. In the novel, Hand to Mouth by Linda
Tirado, having children while in poverty is one of the topics addressed. Although Tirado attempts to
justify someone having a child while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One counter argument, even stated in Hand to Mouth, is that people have children for love and
comfort. Many people who live in poverty are alone and on their own. By having children, they will
have someone in their life who will finally love them unconditionally. Tirado states Why does anyone
have a second child, or a third? Because their family feels unfinished (Tirado 105). Having a child
may give someone a reason to try harder to make more money in order to provide for a better life.
Another argument is poverty does not always necessarily mean neglect. A child will still be cared for
and loved to the best of the parents ability regardless of income. No matter how much money one
makes this does not take away from their ability to parent. Lastly, everyone has the biological instinct
to have children to continue their lineage. Evolution is the driving forces behind the desire to have
children. If people stopped having children, not only will their lineage die out, but it reduces the
amount of genetic variation. Summarized by Ker Than, Charles Darwin stated that organisms change
over time as a result of changes in heritable physical or behavioral traits. Changes that allow an
organism to better adapt to its environment will help it survive and have more offspring

A Window into Thinking During The Gilded Age in the Book...
In the latter chapters, Julian gains a love interest. He falls in love with Edith Leete, the daughter, who
turns out to be Edith Bartlet s great granddaughter. Edith Bartlet was his former fiancèe. In the 19th
century, anarchism was a growing movement that scared many people including Julian. Dr. Leete
describes how it was in fact the wealthiest who funded them, so people would be afraid of reform.
However, this was not enough because social change was not instigated by labor or political parties
but by the vow by mankind to persevere and conquer the old order and usher in the new. Mr. Bellamy
contrasts the anarchist and socialist movements in order posit the latter in a more favorable light. An

all the horrors and atrocities in the newspaper and that night goes to Ms. Bartlet s parent s house for
dinner. By trying to convince the wealthy folks at the table of the awfulness of today s poor and how it
could be so much better, he only distresses them, and he is kicked out. In this dream, he loses all hope
for humanity, but then he wakes up and realizes that the 21st century is real and where he belongs. He
can be an ambassador to the past and work as an educator, giving a unique perspective of the 19th
century. The Gilded Age was a time a of great prosperity but also great corruption. Many advances in
technology and industry took place during the time period. The transcontinental railroad was built, the
steel industry was expanded, and oil took off. These developments allowed for the US to experience
an industrial revolution, but not all was well. Most of the wealth generated during this time
concentrated itself into the hands a of a select few who were able to weasel their way to the top of
their industry. One example is John D. Rockefeller, who with wealth adjusted for inflation, amassed a
fortune of around $700 billion. The way the these men obtained their wealth was an issue for many

According to United States Government Accountability Office 48 million people become sick from
things you put and cook in food (United States Government Accountability Office 2013, pg. 3) For
example, Taco Bell has used horsemeat in their foods for years and this experiment proved it.
According to O Rourke taco bell has been using meat that is lower than dog food (O Rourke 2011, pg.

Examples Of Timeless Literature And The Chronicles Of A...
The novel Chronicles of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is symbolic of timeless
literature and film. Chronicles of a Death Foretold can be related to the following timeless works:
Julius Caesar a screenplay by William Shakespeare, Pulp Fiction a film by Quentin Tarantino, and The
Bible a religious manifest. Firstly, to understand how the novel Chronicles of a Death Foretold is
symbolic of other timeless works, a person must first understand the story of Chronicles of a Death.
The novel Chronicles of a Death Foretold is a story of adultery, murder, and deceit. Santiago Nasar is

Chronicle of a Death Foretold is comparable to the Shakespearean play Julius Caesar, in that both
Santiago Nasar and Julius Caesar were betrayed and killed by someone they deemed one of their
closes friends. Chronicles of a Death Foretold is analogous to Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino in
that, Butch Coolidge betrayed Marcellus Wallace, which is like the whole town in which the novel
Chronicles of a Death Foretold takes place, betraying Santiago Nasar by not warning him of the
impending danger that eventually leads to his murder. Chronicles of a Death Foretold is similar to The
Bible in that both Jesus Christ and Santiago Nasar are the sacrificial lamb, both are killed for the
wrongs of other men, without any sort of concrete evidence against them. As well as both being
stabbed in the side by their aggressors, which ultimately leads to their death. The comparisons
between Chronicles of a Death Foretold, Julius Caesar, Pulp Fiction, and The Bible can be made
between many other timeless works, this comparability makes a work of literature, film, or any other

Symbols In Wise Blood, By Flannery O Connor
Throughout Wise Blood, written by Flannery O Connor, it is often of the predominant character, Hazel
Motes, that one of his most distinguishing features is his eyes and how they connect to who he is and
how he defines himself. For example, the readers first encounter with Haze is from the perspective of
the many train passengers. Each noticing that ... he didn t look, to her, much over twenty, but he had a
stiff black broad brimmed hat on his lap, a hat that an elderly country preacher would wear (O Connor
4). To them, he was a soldier, just relieved of duty and on his way home. However, he was not going
home. He had no home and was in search of a new purpose in life. The preachers hat that Hazel
always wears is just one of the symbols O Connor uses to reveal the theme of her work. Symbols in
literature are often used to portray a bigger picture, express a deeper meaning or foreshadow an event,
however in Wise Blood, O Connor uses symbols such as a car, eyes and colors to portray the main
characters; inner conflict about religiosity. As a young boy Hazel, also referred to as Haze, aspired to
become a preacher. He grew up watching his grandfather preach on top of a car. Yet, each time his

The Case For Investment Into Art And The Development Of...
2.1 Art Index and Methodology The case for investment into art and the development of art indices
has been at the forefront of the evolution of investing into alternative assets. Databases, indices, and
market reports are now essential analytical tools with which art investors can assess financial
performance. Over the past few decades, researchers have used different methodologies to calculate
the financial returns on art investments, based on public auction records.
2.1.1 General Review There are four main methodologies for producing art price indices. Average
prices, geometric means, repeat sales and hedonic regressions. The first significant study was by Stein
(1977), who analyzes the financial return of auctioned paintings in USA and Britain for the period of
1946 68 by using the average prices methods. Stein considered the auctioned objects each year as a
random sample of the underlying stock of art and constructs an index based on the yearly average
transaction price. Baumol (1986) and Frey and Pommerehne (1989) calculate the geometric mean
return on works that sold at least twice during the considered time frame. Baumol constructs a data set
of transaction prices of the best known art works from 1652 to 1961 in London by using geometric
mean method. Revisiting Baumol s study, Frey and Pommerehne enlarge the data set by extending the
time period to 1987 and including auction sales from European countries. However, these two
methods do not enable the construction

The role of Jocasta in Oedipus the King is crucial....
The role of Jocasta in Oedipus the King is crucial. Jocasta sees the reality of the situation before
Oedipus and the chorus do. The prophecies made themselves known long ago, and Jocasta believed
that they would come true. Jocasta did have faith in the oracles, but only enough faith to suit her own
purpose. She worked to suppress much of the faith Oedipus had in them, in the interest of keeping the
city, herself, and Oedipus in a powerful yet strong position. Jocasta s role in the story influenced
Oedipus to think back to Laius death and begin to try to solve the Sphinx s riddle. Jocasta explains
that an oracle called for her husband s death to be at the hand of his own son. Seeing that thieves
evidently killed the king, Oedipus as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Running away gave Oedipus the ability to avoid the oracle. Oedipus avoiding his prophecy, and
Jocasta and Laius avoiding theirs, enabled Jocasta to convinced herself that chance ruled their lives,
not prophecies. In Oedipus the King, it seems as though chance is a motif. King Laius was said to be
killed at three crossroads. When Oedipus ran from Corinth, he admitted to killing a man who caused
conflict along the way. The chance this could be the same man is very slim; the two stories did not
match up. Jocasta demands Oedipus tell her what he is thinking when he is trying to solve the kings
murder. It crosses Oedipus mind that he could be the killer, however; guilt left him in strong defense
when he tells Jocasta, I cannot be the killer. One can t equal many (Sophocles, 934). This
foreshadowing shows a possible suspect, and Oedipus guilty conscience. The witnesses to the death
recall multiple thieves being resent, and also that the murder took place at the three crossroads. The
Greek goddess of the crossroads, Hecate, was said to have three heads. Each head looked down a
different path one saw the past, one the present, and one the future. Though Hecate isn t mentioned in
the play, perhaps the three way crossroads in Oedipus the King has a similar symbolism.

Consumerism Worldview
There are many different types of worldviews that that are held among the countless people of this
world. Consumerism is one that is very prominent in this day in time. Consumerism absolutizes
consumption by believing that we can find fulfillment by accumulating wealth and everything that
comes with it. (Wilkins Sanford, 2009). There are many different elements of consumerism I will
discuss, along with how this worldview of consumerism compares with the Christian worldview, and
lastly, I will express how knowing what the Bible says about consumerism affects my life personally.
According to Wilkins and Sanford (2009), there are several elements of a consumerism worldview;
accumulating and using things brings fulfillment, money is power, we need just a little bit more,
people are viewed as objects to consume, and if something ceases to fulfill me or meet my needs it
should be discarded. With the idea that by accumulating and using things brings fulfillment, whether it
be fulfillment of material things or fulfillment of emotional needs, this worldview neglects to fulfill
our deepest emotional needs leaving us always desiring more to fill that void. Money is power leaves
people always striving to accumulate wealth so they can have power and control over situations,
because you are only important or significant if you have wealth. Also with the consumerism
worldview, we always feel that we need a little bit more, because what you already have is never
enough, due to material

The Navy And My Master s Program At Old Dominion University
I have learned throughout my career in the Navy and my master s program at Old Dominion
University, leaders come in all shapes and sizes. Leadership is a trait some individuals are born with
and yet it is a skill one can learn, polish, and continually improve upon. No matter the case, in order
for one to become a well balanced instructional leader, one must have a central focus of learning
rather than teaching, know how to balance being a supervisor and evaluator, and finally, they must
encourage and develop professional growth throughout the organizations culture. As a young nurse,
straight out of nursing school, I was equipped with the knowledge to complete basic nursing
procedures and care for patients. However, there are some skills along my ten year journey that I had
to learn rather than be taught. For instance, there are several techniques one can use to start an
intravenous catheter (I.V.), and while I was taught all of them during nursing school, I had to learn,
upon graduation, which method was the most successful for me. Leadership can be viewed in this
same light. There are several leadership styles we are learning about throughout our master s program,
but instructional leadership focuses on helping your subordinates to place the emphasis on learning
versus teaching to a process or standard. DiPaola and Hoy (2014) best emphasize this thought on page

So, what exactly makes up a pleasing personality? Well the following are a few of the major
characteristics of people with this superstar quality: Takes a sincere interest in others These people are
truly interested in what others have to share. In conversation, they ask sincere questions, then wait for

A Worn Path Essay
A Worn Path
A Worn Path is, in my opinion, a very good story. It tells of an old black woman and the struggles she
s had to deal with throughout her life. The author names the woman Phoenix after a mythological bird
that died and then came back to life through its ashes which makes it immortal. The author makes the
woman immortal because she continues to have something to live for, her grandson, whom she
apparently considers her biggest gift.
The author never says exactly how often the woman makes the journey, but we know she s made it
before because the attendants knew who she was when she came in the building. It is a very long trip
because the hunter even said that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is very determined and stubborn during her walk.
The journey she takes in this story represents her role in life. She is an old black lady living in a white
society with no education. Many things make this journey very tough: it is very cold, the path is
uphill, and the woman is very old. The trip she makes shows just how determined the woman is to
make it through life. Whether or not her grandson was dead or alive, to me, does not have much effect
on the story. Either way, the woman making the trip for him shows her devotion to him and how much
she loves him dead or alive.
At times in the story, the woman seems very confused. When she mistakes the scarecrow for a ghost,
when she thought the thorn bush was a green bush, and not knowing whether or not her grandson is
alive indicate confusion. The dialogue between Phoenix and the nurse certainly indicates confusion or
forgetfulness. At first she doesn t respond to the attendant. However, once she realizes why she is
where she is, her love and devotion to her grandson is obvious.
Both the hunter and the attendant call the woman granny and this shows how the woman was treated
her whole life, like an old grandma who has no business in town. These moments represent how
insignificant she is in society. Throughout her life, Phoenix probably had to steal just to get by. A good
example of this is when she takes the nickel from the

Use Of Savage In The Island Of Dr. Moreau, By H. G. Wells
The Merriam Webster definition of Savage: not domesticated or under human control or lacking the
restraints normal to civilized human beings. This definition along with abounding others refers to
animal activity. However it is more common for humans to do something savage or cruel than it is for
animals. To be blunt we as humans have committed horrendous, disgraceful, inhuman acts of violence
and repulsion towards other humans and animals. This is often displayed in H.G. Wells s well known
book The Island of Dr. Moreau such as when Montgomery is so drunk that he yells, Get... out of the
way and suddenly whipped out his revolver. threatening to shoot Prendick for protecting Montgomery
from making the potentially fatal mistake of giving the

Course Evaluation For Cap 141c
Course Evaluation for CAP 141C Dr. Alvarez
I will begin my course evaluation by stating that I am only anticipating on obtaining an A or high B in
this class due to the fact that I only learned the course material through self teaching. I did not obtain
any knowledge of the course material from Dr. Alvarez s lectures. This is largely due to the fact of her
grotesque teaching style. In order to further explain how her teaching style impeded on my, and
several others , education of the course material, I have provided several examples of what Dr. Alvarez
has done during class. These examples below are in no particular order:
Throughout the first few class periods of Dr. Alvarez teaching, she began to take note of complaints
from class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, this eliminates any claim that the classroom is at fault for students not seeing what is
displayed on the whiteboard. Students with poor eyesight moved up to the front of the classroom and
still experienced a difficult time in attempting to decipher Dr. Alvarez s handwriting. Therefore, the
only logical argument that could be presented as to why the students kept interrupting in order to ask
what, exactly, is written on the whiteboard is due to Dr. Alvarez s atrocious handwriting. With this
constant interruption, it was highly difficult for Dr. Alvarez to complete the lecture within the given
timeframe of the class. I, personally, have quite poor handwriting. Therefore, if I was given the
opportunity to instruct a class and I had the technology in the classroom to present some sort of
PowerPoint, it would only make logical sense to use that technology to, not only my, but the students
advantage. The students would then be able to read what I am displaying while I am further explaining
what is being displayed, as opposed to the students attempting to decipher my poor handwriting
throughout the entirety of the class. This is just one example of Dr. Alvarez s several attempts at
different teaching styles. She must have eventually given up on trying to change her teaching style as
she eventually reverted to her original teaching style.
The teaching style which Dr. Alvarez used for the majority of her

A Summary Of Biogenic Te NR
In this study, the characterization of purified Te NRs produced by the Pseudomonas pseudoalcaligenes
strain of Te, as a biogenic source, provided a relatively wide size range of 40 200nm (Fig. 1). The
cytotoxity of biogenic Te NRs was compared to K2TeO3 by estimation of the IC50 value of the PC 12
cell line. The cytotoxicity of biogenic Te NRs was assessed at three doses of 1, 2.5, and 5 ng/ml with
the purpose of evaluating the occurrence of cell apoptosis and possible underlying mechanisms that
take place at the IC50 dose through flow cytometry and investigation of the expression of caspase 3
protein by the western blot method in order to confirm flow cytometry analyses. OS events, as other
cytotoxicity mechanisms after exposure to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
NPs produced by nanotechnology methods have been developed for application in different pesticides
(Nel et al., 2006). Therefore, methods used to manufacture NPs are important criteria. Due to specific
physiochemical properties, NPs may be used as fillers, semiconductors, opacifiers, catalysts, and
microelectronics, and also as cosmetics and drug carriers in pharmacology and pharmaceutics (Nel et
al., 2006). Thereafter, we need to consider risk assessment, establishment of safety manufacture, and
the use of NPs in the marketplace and their potential toxicity (Nel et al., 2006; Medina et al., 2007).
Next, we investigated the underlying mechanism of biogenic Te NRs induced cytotoxicity in the PC
12 cell line. As shown in Figure 2, cell viability was reduced in a concentration dependent manner. By
increasing the concentration of biogenic Te NRs, cytotoxicity can be enhanced in PC 12 cells.
Significant reduction in rat hippocampal astrocytes viability was observed in exposure to 1.95 250 μM
of diphenylditelluride (DPDT) and 0.97 250 μM of TeCl4through MTT assay; lethal concentration
(LC50) for both compounds was estimated at 62.5 μM (Roy and Hardej, 2011). Studies have indicated
that NPs may induce cytotoxicity by disrupting the cell structure and cause dysfunction in the cells by
binding to survival macromolecules (Navarro et al., 2008). It has been reported that these toxicities
depend on particle size, surface properties, and then, on cellular uptake of NPs

One of the largest and most controversial issues we as humans face, includes the protection and
preservation of the natural world we call home. When a small group displays the potential to damage
or destroy our beautiful land, the task lies with the people to eliminate such a threat. Between the
years of 2004 2009, Greenpeace, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and others established the
Kleercut campaign against Kimberly Clark in order to prevent the destruction of the Boreal forest
(Kleercut campaign, 2009). Kimberly Clark is the world s largest manufacturer of tissues; their most
prevalent brand being Kleenex. Accusations were made against Kimberly Clark noting that the virgin

Every day, the Boreal forest is flushed down the toilet or thrown away by unsuspecting consumers
across Europe. Another sentence to the right contains the following information in the same black
font: By choosing more recycled fiber and less trees for its disposable tissue products, and by
committing to environmentally sound logging operations, Kimberly Clark could end its part in the
destruction of ancient forests like the Boreal. Directly below the prior sentence may be the most
important peace of the advertisement of all, and it is in a bold, white print: Tell Kimberly Clark that
you want it to stop destroying the Canada s boreal forest. Visit www.stopkleenex.com Finally, the

teenagers to adults in the U.S. and Canada who care about the environment, endangered animals, and
the Boreal Forest of Canada. The audience also includes those who have access to a phone or internet
and can contact the Kimberly Clark Company to voice their complaints with Kleenex. The goal of the
campaign was to compel the viewer to make a difference and express his/her opinion about the
situation. Greenpeace tries to accomplish its goal of changing the way that Kimberly Clark makes the
tissue products by expressing all three elements of rhetoric within the advertisement. First, the
advertisement uses logos to persuade the audience not to buy

The Foul Reign of Self-Reliance
Collin Kennedy The Foul Reign of Self Reliance My first exposure to the high flown pap of Benjamin
Anastas s The Foul Reign of Self Reliance came in a quiet library at the private institution where I had
enrolled to learn the secrets of education and because I wanted, at the age of 21, to fulfill my
philosophy core and graduate on time. Cute openings aside, Mr. Anastas has a significant amount of
gall calling his private school teacher Mr. Sideways when it seems, to me, that he is the one with the
skewed vision. As I read through his essay the first time, I found myself growing discontented and
distant from the author. As I read through it a second time, I began to grow increasingly frustrated and
outraged at how Anastas twisted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To Mr. Aransas I say, what is wrong with this process? Do you have the same views and beliefs as you
did when you were a seven year old? Hell, do you hold to the same convictions as you did when you
were a college undergrad? I highly doubt it. While it may not be as radical as waking up one morning
and finding you ve shed all your old assumptions about the world, they have changed over time. What
of the successful businessman who one day awakens to find that in a moment of clarity, his heart has
softened and his greed has shifted to giving? He no longer works towards making money for the sake
of wealth, but rather making money to give to those who need it. There are countless stories of these
types of individuals. These are people who have found a universal truth within them and found their
beliefs totally flipped. Is it not contradictory? It most certainly is, but this does not make it wrong.
Where is you re argument there Mr. Anastasia? There are two paragraphs in Benjamin s essay that I
disagree with above all others. The main one I will get to later in this essay. The first is the fifth
paragraph starting, The excessive love of individual liberty that debases our national politics? (Anastas
p. 2) Individual liberty is the crux of the entire human existence. How can we love this value too
much? If any part of the belief in God or the One is true, it is that He has endowed us with the

Emily Bronte s Remembrance and thomas Hardy s The Darkling...
Toward the late 1800 s, Europe was plagued with bad news. They had already reached the prime of
their empire and were now on their way to the declination of the continent. Later, people like Adolf
Hitler would try to bring it back to its full glory, but for now everything was heading south. As usual,
the tone of artistic works followed the success of the empire. Many pieces of art and literature became
darker. Even poets such as Thomas Hardy and Emily Bronte started to write in a much more serious,
somber tone. Their poems started to be drawn to subjects more of things in the past. In Emily Bronte s
Remembrance and Thomas Hardy s poems The Darkling Thrush and Ah, are you Digging on My
Grave? , the speakers undergo loss of love, loss of hope, and somber remembrance of things past,
respectively. To begin, Hardy s poem, Remembrance, has strong feelings for the loss of a loved one,
and is able to start to come to terms with her loss. In line 9, the narrator says, Cold in the earth, and
fifteen wild Decembers From these brown hills have melted into spring. This person lost their lover a
full fifteen years ago. The internal conflict in this poem is intriguing, as it seems the person can t
decide whether to move on. Earlier on in the poem this person asked for the forgiveness of their lover
if they were to let them slip their mind and seemed against it. However, starting in line 21, the
Narrator discusses why he or she feels they should move on, saying that existence could

Beta Blocker
Hi Shoaib,
Well written paper on beta blockers in controlling hypertension. In my experience, I had seen more
than 80% of patients are prescribed with antihypertensive drugs in their medical chart. A beta blocker
is one of the most common drugs in a geriatric setting especially atenolol. Beta blockers are the
standard of therapy for many cardiovascular conditions and it is the main line of treatment in
decreasing risk of stroke. According to Ladage, Schwinger, and Brixius (2013) beta blocker was more
effective in decreasing mortality and morbidity rate in acute coronary syndrome patients. Atenolol is a
water soluble and had longer half lives with non metabolized actions and excreted via the kidneys
(Ladage et al., 2013). The exercise capacity increases in patients who are on beta blockers, like
bisoprolol, nebivolol, carvedilol (Ladage et al., 2013). A recent meta analysis study showed patients
who are untreated with hypertension, they are at risk of developing chronic kidney diseases,
cardiovascular complications, and cerebrovascular complications (Butt Harvey, 2015). In one study,

come to an end, however, my journey to become a licensed professional counselor is still underway.

my craft, I can t help but think that I am truly blessed. It is one thing to choose a career, but it is
another to answer a calling. I say with great conviction, that I am blessed to be called to such a
meaningful purpose. It is only by the grace of God that I can look back and see the person that I have
matured into, not only personally but professionally. I remain humble and grateful for the opportunity,
not only to reflect but, to have made it through this part of my journey. I started this program excited,
yet, full of self doubt and now in my last semester, I can gladly report that I am lesser of the two. Over
the years, I have embraced challenges and endured self doubt and it is through my internship that I
have felt growth in solidifying my self confidence. With this developed confidence I prepare to

  • 2. What Is Ifemelu Moving Back To America In Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie s novel Americanah, Is about a woman who is from Nigeria where she moves to America and decides to move back to Nigeria after many years of being in America. Claim statement being Ifemelu s move back to Nigeria after many years of experience in America has changed her cultural identity. The beginning of the chapter at the moment Ifemelu arrived back in her homeland of America in Nigeria. At first Lagos assaulted her; the sun dazed haste, the yellow buses full of squashed limbs, the sweating hikers racing cars, the advertisements on hulking billboards (others scrawled on walls PLUMBER CALL 080177777) and the heaps of rubbish that rose on the roadsides like a taunt. She no longer has or wants to ask Ranyinudo for advice in going to the market when she felt super uncomfortable doing, and she is used to waking up to the sound of the screaming peacocks. The speedboat was gliding on foaming water, past beaches of ivory sand, and trees bursting, well fed green. Ifemelu was laughing/ she caught herself in mid laughter, and looked at her present, an orange life jacket strapped around her, a ship in the graying distance, her friends in their sunglasses, on their way to Priye s friend s beach house, where they would grill meat and race barefoot. She thought: I m really home, I m home (506 Adichie) Connecting to the claim, Ifemelu emotional identity sets back to her past towards her future. Here it states that Ifemelu feels home again, she feels more comfortable with where she originally is from as in her home country, instead of having an American culture from America, she starts to actually settle in and enjoy herself again like before she moved from Nigeria to America. This supports the claim of identity because Ifemelu shifted from being offended when she came back to Nigeria from America and then she then started to try to get settled in naturally by just letting the days pass ... • 4. Modern Art History When I was five years old, my parents took me to the Louvre. Although I was not familiar with all the famous European artists and how much the paintings valued, I was mesmerized by the animated pictures on the wall. Standing before the painting, I felt an unspeakable pleasure permitted only to god himself. From that moment, I knew I was destined to be an artist, just like them in the Louvre. With the intense passion I had for arts, I kept digging the deeper level of artistic technique and appreciation. Unfortunately, as I learnt more about art history and style, I could not resist a sense of boredom. Now technology was developing at a rapid rate, but, in contrast, traditional arts became more and more pale and powerless. However, in their time, artists like Da Vinci and Raphael were superstars like Lady Gaga in our time. Just as Renaissance saved the art field once, I thought the art world needed another revolution now more than ever. And I could feel the fire burning in my chest and calling my destiny to lead. Combining modern technology with the artistic skills, Virtual Reality filled every criterion I had for a new art type. It would draw enough attention because of its novelty and in the same time maximize the value of art design. • 5. Linda Tirado On Child Rearing More than 16 million children in the United States 22% of all children live in families with incomes below the federal poverty level $23,550 a year for a family of four. Research shows that, on average, families need an income of about twice that level to cover basic expenses. Using this standard, 45% of children live in low income families ( NCCP Child Poverty ). With these alarming statistics it should be no question as to whether if one is living in poverty should one be having children. The importance of proper child rearing is essential to child development. In the novel, Hand to Mouth by Linda Tirado, having children while in poverty is one of the topics addressed. Although Tirado attempts to justify someone having a child while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One counter argument, even stated in Hand to Mouth, is that people have children for love and comfort. Many people who live in poverty are alone and on their own. By having children, they will have someone in their life who will finally love them unconditionally. Tirado states Why does anyone have a second child, or a third? Because their family feels unfinished (Tirado 105). Having a child may give someone a reason to try harder to make more money in order to provide for a better life. Another argument is poverty does not always necessarily mean neglect. A child will still be cared for and loved to the best of the parents ability regardless of income. No matter how much money one makes this does not take away from their ability to parent. Lastly, everyone has the biological instinct to have children to continue their lineage. Evolution is the driving forces behind the desire to have children. If people stopped having children, not only will their lineage die out, but it reduces the amount of genetic variation. Summarized by Ker Than, Charles Darwin stated that organisms change over time as a result of changes in heritable physical or behavioral traits. Changes that allow an organism to better adapt to its environment will help it survive and have more offspring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He falls in love with Edith Leete, the daughter, who turns out to be Edith Bartlet s great granddaughter. Edith Bartlet was his former fiancèe. In the 19th century, anarchism was a growing movement that scared many people including Julian. Dr. Leete describes how it was in fact the wealthiest who funded them, so people would be afraid of reform. However, this was not enough because social change was not instigated by labor or political parties but by the vow by mankind to persevere and conquer the old order and usher in the new. Symbols In Wise Blood, By Flannery O Connor Throughout Wise Blood, written by Flannery O Connor, it is often of the predominant character, Hazel Motes, that one of his most distinguishing features is his eyes and how they connect to who he is and how he defines himself. For example, the readers first encounter with Haze is from the perspective of the many train passengers. The preachers hat that Hazel always wears is just one of the symbols O Connor uses to reveal the theme of her work. Symbols in literature are often used to portray a bigger picture, express a deeper meaning or foreshadow an event, however in Wise Blood, O Connor uses symbols such as a car, eyes and colors to portray the main characters; inner conflict about religiosity. • 14. The Case For Investment Into Art And The Development Of... 2.1 Art Index and Methodology The case for investment into art and the development of art indices has been at the forefront of the evolution of investing into alternative assets. Databases, indices, and market reports are now essential analytical tools with which art investors can assess financial performance. Over the past few decades, researchers have used different methodologies to calculate the financial returns on art investments, based on public auction records. 2.1.1 General Review There are four main methodologies for producing art price indices. Average prices, geometric means, repeat sales and hedonic regressions. The first significant study was by Stein (1977), who analyzes the financial return of auctioned paintings in USA and Britain for the period of 1946 68 by using the average prices methods. Stein considered the auctioned objects each year as a random sample of the underlying stock of art and constructs an index based on the yearly average transaction price. Baumol (1986) and Frey and Pommerehne (1989) calculate the geometric mean return on works that sold at least twice during the considered time frame. Baumol constructs a data set of transaction prices of the best known art works from 1652 to 1961 in London by using geometric mean method. Revisiting Baumol s study, Frey and Pommerehne enlarge the data set by extending the time period to 1987 and including auction sales from European countries. • 15. The role of Jocasta in Oedipus the King is crucial.... The role of Jocasta in Oedipus the King is crucial. Jocasta sees the reality of the situation before Oedipus and the chorus do. The prophecies made themselves known long ago, and Jocasta believed that they would come true. Jocasta did have faith in the oracles, but only enough faith to suit her own purpose. She worked to suppress much of the faith Oedipus had in them, in the interest of keeping the city, herself, and Oedipus in a powerful yet strong position. Jocasta s role in the story influenced Oedipus to think back to Laius death and begin to try to solve the Sphinx s riddle. Jocasta explains that an oracle called for her husband s death to be at the hand of his own son. Seeing that thieves evidently killed the king, Oedipus as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Running away gave Oedipus the ability to avoid the oracle. Oedipus avoiding his prophecy, and Jocasta and Laius avoiding theirs, enabled Jocasta to convinced herself that chance ruled their lives, not prophecies. In Oedipus the King, it seems as though chance is a motif. King Laius was said to be killed at three crossroads. When Oedipus ran from Corinth, he admitted to killing a man who caused conflict along the way. The chance this could be the same man is very slim; the two stories did not match up. Jocasta demands Oedipus tell her what he is thinking when he is trying to solve the kings murder. It crosses Oedipus mind that he could be the killer, however; guilt left him in strong defense when he tells Jocasta, I cannot be the killer. One can t equal many (Sophocles, 934). This foreshadowing shows a possible suspect, and Oedipus guilty conscience. The witnesses to the death recall multiple thieves being resent, and also that the murder took place at the three crossroads. The Greek goddess of the crossroads, Hecate, was said to have three heads. Each head looked down a different path one saw the past, one the present, and one the future. • 18. Consumerism Worldview There are many different types of worldviews that that are held among the countless people of this world. Consumerism is one that is very prominent in this day in time. Consumerism absolutizes consumption by believing that we can find fulfillment by accumulating wealth and everything that comes with it. (Wilkins Sanford, 2009). There are many different elements of consumerism I will discuss, along with how this worldview of consumerism compares with the Christian worldview, and lastly, I will express how knowing what the Bible says about consumerism affects my life personally. According to Wilkins and Sanford (2009), there are several elements of a consumerism worldview; accumulating and using things brings fulfillment, money is power, we need just a little bit more, people are viewed as objects to consume, and if something ceases to fulfill me or meet my needs it should be discarded. With the idea that by accumulating and using things brings fulfillment, whether it be fulfillment of material things or fulfillment of emotional needs, this worldview neglects to fulfill our deepest emotional needs leaving us always desiring more to fill that void. Money is power leaves people always striving to accumulate wealth so they can have power and control over situations, because you are only important or significant if you have wealth. Also with the consumerism worldview, we always feel that we need a little bit more, because what you already have is never enough, due to material ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. The Navy And My Master s Program At Old Dominion University I have learned throughout my career in the Navy and my master s program at Old Dominion University, leaders come in all shapes and sizes. Leadership is a trait some individuals are born with and yet it is a skill one can learn, polish, and continually improve upon. No matter the case, in order for one to become a well balanced instructional leader, one must have a central focus of learning rather than teaching, know how to balance being a supervisor and evaluator, and finally, they must encourage and develop professional growth throughout the organizations culture. As a young nurse, straight out of nursing school, I was equipped with the knowledge to complete basic nursing procedures and care for patients. However, there are some skills along my ten year journey that I had to learn rather than be taught. For instance, there are several techniques one can use to start an intravenous catheter (I.V.), and while I was taught all of them during nursing school, I had to learn, upon graduation, which method was the most successful for me. Leadership can be viewed in this same light. There are several leadership styles we are learning about throughout our master s program, but instructional leadership focuses on helping your subordinates to place the emphasis on learning versus teaching to a process or standard. DiPaola and Hoy (2014) best emphasize this thought on page 17 through stating, by concentrating on learning, today s school leaders shift both their own focus on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author names the woman Phoenix after a mythological bird that died and then came back to life through its ashes which makes it immortal. The author makes the woman immortal because she continues to have something to live for, her grandson, whom she apparently considers her biggest gift. The journey she takes in this story represents her role in life. She is an old black lady living in a white society with no education. Many things make this journey very tough: it is very cold, the path is uphill, and the woman is very old. The trip she makes shows just how determined the woman is to make it through life. Whether or not her grandson was dead or alive, to me, does not have much effect on the story. Either way, the woman making the trip for him shows her devotion to him and how much she loves him dead or alive. At times in the story, the woman seems very confused. When she mistakes the scarecrow for a ghost, when she thought the thorn bush was a green bush, and not knowing whether or not her grandson is alive indicate confusion. The dialogue between Phoenix and the nurse certainly indicates confusion or forgetfulness. At first she doesn t respond to the attendant. However, once she realizes why she is where she is, her love and devotion to her grandson is obvious. Both the hunter and the attendant call the woman granny and this shows how the woman was treated her whole life, like an old grandma who has no business in town. These moments represent how insignificant she is in society. Throughout her life, Phoenix probably had to steal just to get by. A good example of this is when she takes the nickel from the ... Students with poor eyesight moved up to the front of the classroom and still experienced a difficult time in attempting to decipher Dr. Alvarez s handwriting. Therefore, the only logical argument that could be presented as to why the students kept interrupting in order to ask what, exactly, is written on the whiteboard is due to Dr. Alvarez s atrocious handwriting. With this constant interruption, it was highly difficult for Dr. Alvarez to complete the lecture within the given timeframe of the class. I, personally, have quite poor handwriting. Therefore, if I was given the opportunity to instruct a class and I had the technology in the classroom to present some sort of PowerPoint, it would only make logical sense to use that technology to, not only my, but the students advantage. The students would then be able to read what I am displaying while I am further explaining what is being displayed, as opposed to the students attempting to decipher my poor handwriting throughout the entirety of the class. NPs produced by nanotechnology methods have been developed for application in different pesticides (Nel et al., 2006). Therefore, methods used to manufacture NPs are important criteria. Due to specific physiochemical properties, NPs may be used as fillers, semiconductors, opacifiers, catalysts, and microelectronics, and also as cosmetics and drug carriers in pharmacology and pharmaceutics (Nel et al., 2006). Thereafter, we need to consider risk assessment, establishment of safety manufacture, and the use of NPs in the marketplace and their potential toxicity (Nel et al., 2006; Medina et al., 2007). Next, we investigated the underlying mechanism of biogenic Te NRs induced cytotoxicity in the PC 12 cell line. As shown in Figure 2, cell viability was reduced in a concentration dependent manner. By increasing the concentration of biogenic Te NRs, cytotoxicity can be enhanced in PC 12 cells. Significant reduction in rat hippocampal astrocytes viability was observed in exposure to 1.95 250 μM of diphenylditelluride (DPDT) and 0.97 250 μM of TeCl4through MTT assay; lethal concentration (LC50) for both compounds was estimated at 62.5 μM (Roy and Hardej, 2011). Studies have indicated that NPs may induce cytotoxicity by disrupting the cell structure and cause dysfunction in the cells by binding to survival macromolecules (Navarro et al., 2008). It has been reported that these toxicities depend on particle size, surface properties, and then, on cellular uptake of NPs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
