Investigating Unknown Microorganisms From Water
Vol. 4, No. 2
INTRODUCTION
This study was done to determine unknown microorganisms that were retrieved from pond water in
Rocklin, California. If the study involves identifying microorganisms from water, various amount
of test are done to find what type of bacterias are in water. The most common bacteria in the genera
Eschericha, Pseudomonas, Acinteobacter, and Aeromons are amongst the top bacteria found in
water. As a result, one or more of these microorganism will be found in the pond water collected. It
is important to specify one of these bacteria in the water sample as it is potentially harmful. Some
strains of Eschericha Coli are known to cause serve gastrointestinal infection, dysentry and even
death in susceptible individuals (Wilson, 2015). Most importantly, it is important to find these
species that can cause danger to humans. So, they can be treated accordantly with the right
antibiotics if they presented any of the side effects.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Culturing/Streak: Trypticase soy agar (TSA) plate: Since the unknown sample contains Gram ( ),
it was appropriate to use this type of agar. Using a sterilized loop a sample was streaked on the
TSA. The purpose of this producer is to allow growth of the unknown sample. Taking extra to
prevent contamination. The inoculated TSA was stored in a plastic bag at room temperature. After
two days, The TSA plate was analyzed through visual examination. In addition, the determination of
colony and cell morphology were

Wasteland Motherhood
Motherhood is an extremely complicated process that every mother goes through when taking on
the choice to acquire a child. Based on the individual, this process can be one that is natural or
extremely difficult to execute. Within this process, there are new issues and mindsets that emerge
in the threshold of motherhood that creates intense struggles. In the texts Waste Land (Walker,
2010) by Lucy Walker and Morning Song by Sylvia Plath the poet and director display these issues
and mindsets within these two different mediums that arise in the never ending process. These texts
connect to one another by demonstrating and including struggles of urges to provide, emotions of
detachment, and improving mindsets through the process of motherhood.... Show more content on

Within the article, Plaths Morning Song David Ketterer makes the statement about how Morning
Song expresses Plath s conflicted feelings at the birth of her first child... (242 243). These feelings
are implied adamantly throughout the poem and start off as feelings of detachment. The speaker
of Morning Song exclaims We stand around blankly as walls when describing her mental
composure to the audience. At this point the reader understands that the concept of motherhood is
wildly new to the speaker and she has no idea what to do or how to connect herself to the child.
The speaker also depicts the child as a new statue (line 4). This comparison is one that shows the
audience that the mother sees the child as something mystifying and not human. Consequently, if
she cannot view the child as an opposite of these characteristics, then she will fail to recognize
her duties as a mother. And if she fails to recognize this, she will also fail to create a stable
connection and positive feeling towards her new born child. However, these feelings of detachment
later cease to exist towards the final two stanzas of the poem, unlike the intense feelings displayed

Analysis of Main Characters in Murder on the Orient...
The scrapbook is about all the main characters in the book Murder on the Orient Express by:
Agatha Christie. They are all important in the book because without them there would not be a
book or a story written. They all play an important role in this story, and they help make this story
interesting. The first main character in the scrapbook is Hercule Poirot.
Hercule Poirot is extremely intelligent, and he is most well known for his curly moustache, and
short stature. He is a retired Belgian police officer, and is the most known detective. I put a big
guy in a police uniform, and police things around it. It has a police car, badge, flashlight, whistle,

Hector McQueen is Rachett personal secretary; he was a one of the suspect in the case because
he was trying to tell Poirot that she did not speak French. I put a man who is covered in papers,
and is at a computer and stressed out because she is a secretary.
Princess Dragomiroff is a Russian princess; she is an old ugly woman. She told a lot of lies about
the other passengers on the train. I put her as a princess, with princess stickers on the next page.
Countess Andrenyi is a quite beautiful dark headed woman. She is the sister of Sonia Armstrong.
She did not kill Rachett, but people thought she did, and because of that he then tried to hide her
true identity, and changed her name on the luggage. I put a beautiful girl who looks quite in a
picture, and also a girl in jail. She is trying to hide from that because people thinks that she did kill
Rachett.
Count Andrenyi is the husband of Countess Andrenyi he tried to take her place in the murder,
and helped her hide her identity, and because he is doing that he is becoming a defensive man. I

Trifles Analysis
Woman
Susan Glaspell shows her readers that women will no longer be in the background. By writing
Trifles she gave women an outlook they have never received before. Trifles is a coming up story
about women, in other words its about women and their rise to power. Glaspell embodies the
women spirit by showing the power, conning, and intectellt of the women in her play.
When people think of power the first thing that comes to mind is a man Women are shown to be
weak, mindless and serving, but in Trifles Glaspell depicts women to have more fire and power. In
1900 s women were housewives they did not own anything and did what they were told kind of like
slaves. Trifles shows Mrs. Peters, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Wright as something much more than that.
Right in the beginning (1860) it shows that Mrs. Wright might have committed murder.Trifles
shows that this woman could have possess the power to kill a man. That was unheard of in the
1900 s because women did not speak out or defend themselves against a man. Mrs. Hale shows
just a snippet of her power when The County Attorney on page (1861) says Dirty towels! Not
much of a housekeeper, would you say, ladies? Mrs.Hale claps back with There s a great deal of
work to be done on a farm. Mrs. Hales defends Mrs. Wright because she knows just how difficult
it is to maintain a household and didn t feel that was necessary because they had Mrs. Wright
leave in a hurry. Mrs. Hale yet again shows she is not afraid of what is to come on page (1864)
she undoes the knot on the quilt and the sewing comes undone. Mrs.Hale at this time knows that
this quilt is evidence but does not care and starts to sew. Mrs. Peters finally shows she is capable
of having powerful demeanor on page (1866) she says ...If they hadn t held me back I would
have... hurt him. A boy killed her cat and that made her angry enough to think about hurting and
possibly killing him. Power has many different forms and women are starting to take on that form.
Women are capable of many things and being conning is just one of them. People lie all the time
to get away with things they do not want to get in trouble for. For a woman to lie was unheard of
especially to an attorney and sheriff. Mrs.

specifically, the John Holland Typology Approach. I feel that I was attracted to school
counseling because of my personality traits, including the fact that I desire to help students
achieve in the classroom and in their personal lives (Zunker, 2016). I believe that my personality

personality types from Holland s theory, my personality closely aligns with what employers
desire in school counselors (123test, 2017). Employers desire someone who can interact with
others and help them solve problems, which aligns with social and conventional categories found
as described by Holland s theory (Zunker, 2016). The work setting is an office space and in schools,
which is an environment I desire to work in (BLS, 2015). As such, I

Women s role in society has made tremendous steps towards equality since previous times.
However, dependency on male figures has prohibited this process from happening faster. Two
examples of this process are Michelle Obama and Ophelia from Hamlet. When an individual
heavily depends on another person, they lack the ability to be self motivated and have a higher
risk of vulnerability. Michelle Obama is a powerful figure in the feminist world. While she is co
dependent of Barack Obama, she lives a life of her own and has many individual
accomplishments. She received an education at Harvard Law school and she grew up in an

Symbols In The Mortal Instruments
Clarissa Fairchild A mandala is a circular visual meditation tool that is primarily used in Hindu
and Buddhist culture. The word mandala comes from the Sanskrit and means circle. The center
of a mandala is always connected to its circumference and its circumference is tied to the center.
This character analysis is about the protagonist of the very well known dramatic/fantasy novel,
The Mortal instruments: City of Bones, written by Cassandra Clare, and the character is Clarissa
Fairchild, or Clary for short. The novel is set in present day New York, and follows a 16 year old
girl, whose life turns into a mess when she sees someone getting killed, her mothergets kidnapped,
and she is told that all the stories are true , meaning all the myths about demons, warlocks, vampires,
werewolves, etc. Clary, a dynamic character, who is selfless, loving, artistic, stubborn, and

I chose a mule as the symbol, because stereotypically they are stubborn, and have been called that
for centuries, for their denial to do something, that they don t want to do. Although Clary is,
selfless, loving, and artistic, she also has an unfavorable trait, stubbornness. This trait comes from
the fact that whenever she puts her mind into something (usually trying to help someone), she won
t change it. An example of her being stubborn is: When she pushed Jace off the demon (who was
impersonating a boy), Stupid little mundie, Isabelle said between her teeth You could have
gotten Jace killed (pg 14), she was so focused on saving the boy (who is actually a demon) she
didn t realize what she was actually doing. Stubbornness is Clary s biggest flaw, she gets so

Summary Of The First Case Of Edward De Vere
The first case made for Edward De Vere was first made in 1918 by a man named J. Thomas
Looney. Looney was a Gateshead schoolmaster and later became famous for his publication of
Shakespeare Identified. He first started his research on Shakespeare because he was absolutely
convinced that Shakespeare was a pseudonym, but he was not convinced that Sir Francis Bacon
was the real author. After this realization, Looney went on to make a list of eighteen
characteristics the real Shakespeare must have had. Through his research, he decided to search
for Elizabethian poets and writers, and that is where he discovered Edward De Vere or the 17th

BENIHANA SIMULATION REFLECTIVE JOURNAL
OVERVIEW:
BENIHANA INC, an American restaurant company was founded in 1964 in New York City and
has 116 Japanese cuisine restaurants. Benihana simulation is a computer simulation of an operation
management result based on concept of Benihana restaurant in Tokyo designed by Harvard school.
The outline of the simulation is based on two seating position i.e. bar and the dining area. The
target of this restaurant based simulation is to boost utilization, nightly profit and throughput time
by using batching strategy, size of bar and cycle time and different advertising scheme. Simulation
consist of 6 challenges where only 1 to 3 factor can be changed in challenges 1 to 5 whereas
challenge 6 is a combination of strategies to gain the maximum output i.e. nightly profit by using all
possible factors from 5 previous challenges.
I started simulation by testing all the possible outcomes from challenge 1 to 5 and used the best
scenario from one simulation to the other step by step and drew the conclusion at the very end.
CHALLENGE 1:
The first challenge was to determine whether or not batching dining room customer was
beneficial. Batching means that the parties must reach a number of eight before they are seated.
Two scenarios from the simulation show that batching is a better strategy that helped to increase
profit. Utilization of the restaurant capacity is largest while batching. We could place 8 people at
single table rather than placing group of 5 at one and 3 at another. The number of customers that
can be served at one time highly influences the profit. According to the simulation it is more
beneficial to use batching as average profit is $83.64 compared to average profit of $282.29 when
not batched. By using batching benihana restaurants are able to eliminate bottleneck that occurs in
the waiting area/bar. By doing so they are able to see more customers in their restaurants which
can be seen in the graphs to the right. They lose fewer customers and more diners are served.
Bottleneck primarily refers to the resources with

Russian Revolution After World War I Essay
For many revolutions people may argue different reasons why that particular revolution was caused,
but there often one that is the primary cause. The Russian Revolution began February 1917, many
people in Russia lost faith in their government, especially since they had not done so well to begin
with when they participated in World War I. Which resulted in a lot of expenses. Others may argue
that since Tsar was an unproductive leader and because of the decisions he made when he was in
power that influenced the Russian Revolution. Although Tsar s weak leadership may have
influenced the Russian Revolution, World War I was the main cause of the Russian Revolution
because it destroyed the economy, which led to riots and many people... Show more content on

Russia struggled to provide food for its populations. Citizens took control into their own hands,
Ludovic Naudeau wrote in October 1917, One morning recently I was awakened by the cries of
my neighbor in the next room. His boots had been stolen. The same day the manager of a
newspaper office told me that he had been robbed six of pairs of pantaloons, ... Four hundred
thefts every night! he cried; that is the average for the last two weeks, (One Aspect of Bolshevist
Liberty). Russia could not even uphold itself because the economy was not successful compared
to other countries. This led people to desire a change in the government; therefore this led to the
Russian Revolution. People went to different maters to get what they wanted such as stealing
since they were not getting the aid that they needed and they needed financial support. This
caused them to protest against their government because many people from the lower class
could not take care of their families. This cause led to a greater impact compared to Tsarist weak
authority. Some may argue Tsar Nicholas weak leadership help contributes to the Russian
Revolution but World War I was be the primary cause. Tsar Nicholas was not the best leader but
that did not have a big enough impact to cause the Russia Revolution because his actions did not
lead to as many problems that World War I had caused. World War I had a greater impact because
it led to many problems within Russia that caused the citizens to be furious.

War Economy Essay
War Economy The 20 year old Afghan conflict has created an open war economy, affecting
Afghanistan and surrounding areas. Not only has Afghanistan become the world s largest opium
producer and a center for arms dealing, but it supports a multi billion dollar trade in goods
smuggled from Dubai to Pakistan. This criminalized economy funds both the Talibanand their
adversaries. It has transformed social relations and weakened states and legal economies throughout

Transformation of this criminalized war economy is thus essential not only to Afghanistanbut to
neighboring regions. The economic and political stability of Pakistan, in particular, is threatened by
phenomena associated with the political economy of war in Afghanistan, but the phenomena also
reach into Iran, the Arab states of the Persian Gulf, and Central Asia, and, through the drug trade,
into Russia, Europe, and North America.
The pre war society of Afghanistan cannot be reconstructed, but today s structures developed from
transformations of that fragile and fragmented society. Furthermore, in the event that political
conditions permit an attempt at reconstruction, an understanding of prewar social, economic, and
political relations is necessary if Afghans and international actors are to avoid replicating or even
magnifying dysfunctional features of the system that proved so vulnerable to external intervention
and institutional collapse (Rubin, 1995a).
In the 1970s Afghanistan had an economy and society bifurcated between a rural, largely
subsistence economy and an urban economy dependent

The Function of Monstrosity in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Frankenstein is a piece of Gothic literature and was written in the Romantic era. It was published
in the 19th Century and was written by Mary Shelley. Frankenstein was considered to be one of
the most evil horror stories of its time; it shocked and surprised its readership due the
controversial issues that it addressed. It was inconceivable that an author could engage with the
idea of creating a being from body parts and bringing it to life. This raised many issues such as,
should we have the right to play God?
In the novel Mary Shelley writes about tragedy, death and romance. It was thought that perhaps

There is a build up of tension and suspense within the end of the fourth and the very beginning of

horror, that it is not a beautiful being that he has created, but a monster. His realization of this
makes him very anxious and apprehensive and he decided to ignore the situation and not deal with
the consequences of this actions. The following quotes show his despondency and alarm and how
he reacts to the situation,
How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe…
The different accidents of life are not so changeable as the feelings of human nature.
The beauty of the dream vanished.
These quotes all show that he dreamt of creating something magnificent, but instead created
something monstrous.
His reactions to his creation could be considered hideous or shocking, because he chose to create
this being of his own volition. Now that the being is finished, he is disgusted and shocked; it
seems as if he created it with his eyes closed. He has chosen to reject his creation and not nurture
or embrace it. This is inexcusable as it is comparable with a mother rejecting her newly born child.
Frankenstein has now deserted the monster and hides away in fear of its return. The monster has

What is the Good Life Essay A popular saying is live life in the moment. People believe that by
doing this, they will live life to their fullest potential, and this will lead to the good life. This is a
good theory, but it is not actually a good idea to life live this way. This is shown by both
Herodotus, The History the story of Solon and Croesus, and by the Mike Webster Sports Injury
series by Greg Garber. In both of the texts, the fictional Croesus, and the real life Mike Webster both
lived their lives in the moment, and they actually provide the most significant horrible warnings to
show what is not the good life. By living in the moment, neither of these two actually thought
about the future while they were living their good lives. If they had thought about the future, and
the repercussions that could happen if their way of life was ended, then they may have been able
to avoid the inevitable fall that both of them faced. Webster and Croesus both lived the good life
for a time, and through both of their stories, we can see that to truly have lived the good life, one
must die living it.
While both Webster and Croesus undergo very similar crucibles, there are a few distinct differences
between the texts that complement each other, so by understanding one of the texts more clearly,
the other can be better understood, which in turn, leads to a better understanding of the good life.
One of the main differences

adulating subjects (both Congolese and Belgians) at his feet. It is strategically placed on the sea
promenade, is very almost aggressively high and can thus be seen from far away. Yet, public
statuary can also encourage demonstrations of resistance: in 2004 a group of local anarchists
called De Stoeten Ostendenoare symbolically sawed the hand of a Congolese among the statue
complex in order to denounce the abuses committed by the colonial regime (such as the severing
of hands in this case) and the role played by the King in the Congo. Initially, the city council was
in favour of leaving the altered statue as such, as a reminder of Leopold s dark colonial past. Yet,
to this day, the debate concerning the suitability of a repair and replacement of the hand is still
running. In Brussels as well, Leopold s monumental statue is in a public thoroughfare, upright on
his horse, looking masterly over a big boulevard and offices, and with the Royal Palace behind
him. Ironically, he is facing MatongГ©, the district of Brussels where the Congolese immigrants
settled down during the past decades. This statue has also been victim of vandalism, when, in
2008, the anti establishment writer ThГ©ophile de Giraud, climbed on it and painted it in red,
symbolising the blood shed by Leopold II in the Congo. He was protesting against the fact that a
man who committed crimes against humanity was commemorated as one of the nation s great men,
and was pleading for the removal of the statue.

Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy Case Study
Constraint induced movement therapy (CIMT) is a rehabilitation treatment approach to help
patients restore function on the affected extremity by restraining the unaffected extremity. This
method of therapy focus on the reuse of the more affected extremity caused by medical
conditions such as, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, or a stroke. This type
of therapy is most commonly applied following a stroke because the initial unsuccessful use of
the affected extremity is very discouraging to a stroke survivor. Studies have proven that CIMT
increase motor functional movement and brain activity on the affected side. Before a person can
participate in CIMT, he or she must meet criteria. He or she must be cognitively intact to
comprehend the process, have the ability to begin from a resting position of forearm pronation
and wrist flexion, able to actively extend the wrist at least 20 degrees, and actively extend finger
joints at least 10 degrees.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first component involves repetitive, task oriented training of the affected upper extremity for
6 hours a day for 10 or 15 consecutive weekdays. During the intervention phase, the participant is
supervised by an interventionist as they practice functional task activities such as shaping or task
practice. Shaping is a training method based on principles of behavioral training. The motor
objective is approached by small steps, and each functional activity is practiced for a set of ten 30
trials. Task practice is not structured to be individual trials. It involves functionally based activities
(e.g., writing wrapping a gift) that are performed continuously for a period of 15 20

The Guerrilla Warfare And The American Civil War
The guerrilla warfare along the Kansas Missouri border has generally been considered an outlier
of the American Civil War. While interesting to read about, its impact on the war and on Union
policies were not always important to historians. Early in the study of this conflict historians chose
to focus on the leaders and actions of the guerrillas. More recently, scholars have endeavored to
understand how guerrilla warin the Civil War affected the society in which it took place. This shift
in historiographical trends is, in part, due to the rise in guerrilla warfarein the present. However,
questions still remain over how this conflict fits in with the rest of America s military experience.
Questions like, does the guerrilla warfare prove... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No other mention is made about guerrilla warfare. Because his work was published in 1973, when
attention was still predominantly focused on the conventional engagements of the Civil War, this
oversight is unsurprising though certainly lamentable. Despite the lack of attention given to the
irregular forces supporting the Union and Confederate Armies, those men engaged in raids and
operations that contribute to a deeper understanding of why, during the American Civil War
, a
strategy of annihilation was supported by the Union as their strategy against the Confederacy.
While the development of guerrilla war does not factor into Weigley s thesis that the United States
has moved from a strategy of attrition to a strategy of annihilation, it is important in understanding
how and why the United States made that change. For Weigley, this change came during the
American Civil War when Grant became Commanding General of the Army. Grant did not
believe the war could be won with a single, decisive victory against the Confederate Army, rather,
he initiated a strategy to destroy the Confederate Armies through many battles and by attacking
their economic resources. The orders to begin destroying the war resources of the Confederacy
may have had their roots in the Western and Trans Mississippian Theaters of the war because of
frustrations associated with guerrilla war. Early in the war in Kansas, James Lane organized a
mixed brigade to

Fourth Crusade Essay
To what extent were the Crusades an exercise of power rather than an exercise of belief and moral
commitment? In your discussion, focus on the 4th Crusade.
The Crusades were a series of revolutionary movements which occurred from 1095 to 1291. The
crusades were issued by the Pope and were a holy war against infidels, predominately Muslim
caliphates, who were now in control of Christian property. The crusadeswere characterized by the
taking of vows and a promise of penance against all sin committed in one s life. There was a total
of nine crusades, though this paper will be focusing on the fourth. The fourth crusade began with
the same motives as the previous crusades, to reclaim Christian land from the Muslims, however
the 4th Crusade ultimately led to the sack of the Constantinople for three days, during which
multitudes of Ancient works of art were stolen and destroyed and thousands of Constantinople s
population killed. The greatest city of Europe, Constantine s the Greats city, once thought to be an
impenetrable city lay in ruin. The purpose of this paper is to discuss as to what motivations led the
crusaders to disregarded their original purpose of attacking Muslim controlled Egypt and instead

Moving To A New Country Analysis
Moving to another country for establishing a new life, finding a better job or even studying have
always been a bold step in one s life. However, changing one s place is not the only thing that they
need to start their journey, but it requires more thorough changes related to traditions and customs.
Based on that, people are divided into two contrary groups, one supports following the customs of
the new country while the other encourages people to hold onto their beliefs. In my opinion, we
can discuss this topic according to three different levels: social, individual and personal level. First
of all, some people think that newcomers should follow the customs of the country where they will
live. They justify that by saying it helps them to assimilate

One famous quote was, Janis simply said, I m going home. I m going home. Meant that Janis

Story Scars of Sweet Paradise The Life and Times of Janis Joplin, Alice Echols emphasizes where
she was moving towards in her book. Whereas mentioned within the book it seemed that her
relatives/ close friends grew weary of authors coming to them and interviewing about Janis
Joplin. But in the end Echols agreed that she would not hide or remove anything to truly show
how much pain Janis Joplin was in. Janis did not start off as the singer we know her today. Her
childhood, teen age years, as well as her adult life is what I will be discussing is what I will

with her music gave an impression that she had a rough childhood. But contrary to her legend,
Janis didn t start out feeling like a nobody in Port Arthur. (pg. 9). Making it seem that later down
the line something must have gone terribly wrong for her to wind up dead due to substance abuse.

The Canadian Government Has Been Faced With A Decision
The Canadian Government has been faced with a decision that could destroy an already delicate
relationship with the Indigenous Canadians. There have been several pipeline expansion proposals
to increase the production and extraction of oil throughout Canada and the U.S. The primary factor
delaying the Canadian Government from starting these projects is the Indigenous people. With
promises by the newly elected federal Liberal government and the Canadian Charter of Rights and

between the relationship with Indigenous people and their rights or the profit that would lead
from the expansion of these pipelines. The three policies that will be outlined in this briefing will
be; The Canadian Government could move freely to approve the pipelines, without input or
consideration of Indigenous rights. They could negotiate with the Indigenous groups until both
parties are satisfied. Lastly, the Canadian Government could decline the proposals of the
pipelines because in a cost benefit analysis the negative impacts of the pipelines, could outweigh
financial gain. Option 1 One of the policies the Canadian Government could pursue is to move
forward and approve the pipeline expansions regardless of the Indigenous peoples perspective.
These pipelines would connect the oil sands in Alberta to markets globally which would lead to
economic growth. With these pipelines approved, it would mean greater exports. The Canadian

Berlin Crisis Research Paper
The Berlin crisis started in February 1948 when the Western allies held the London conference to
discuss how to jumpstart the German economy after two years of disagreeing with the Soviets. The
Western allies wanted to implement a free market economy which all of their nations had and felt
was the best option while the Soviet Unionwanted to convert Germany to a planned communist
economy. Because the London conference went against the regulations as laid out during the
Potsdam Agreement, the Soviet Union s protest was quick and they withdrew from the Allied
Control Council (ACC). In June of 1948, the Western allies introduced a new currency to the
American, British, and French zones called the Deutsche mark without consulting the Soviets.
This is considered the last straw, and the Soviet Union announces their plans to introduce a new
currency in their zone and subsequently block off Berlin before the Western allies can implement
their currency. However, the west had already smuggled in around 250 million Deutsche marks to
West Berlin without the Soviet Union finding out. The Berlin blockade consisted of no land or
water access to the city, which made it inaccessible from the ground but it was still accessible
from the air. The US government decided to airlift supplies for West Berlin due to the lack of

There is no question that American culture has evolved over the years. Many citizens have

In Individuals, Insanity
The term nationalism refers to loyalty of an individual or a group to a nation. This term is
primarily used when referring to a group which has extreme love for their own country but hatred
for others; these people can go to any extent for the sake of protecting their country. Friedrich
Nietzsche explained this as In individuals, insanity is rare; but in groups, parties, nations and

According to Karl Marx theory, class struggle is actually the struggle between two classes; the
bourgeoisie owner of the capital and the proletariat the labor. There are many examples of class

Catalytic Hydration
Catalytic hydration produces a lot of direct and indirect pollution. The process requires tremendous
amount of energy to heat up the mixture of ethene and steam up to the reaction temperatures.
Ethene is obtained by a cracked fraction obtained from oil. Over the years there have been many
environmental disasters from drilling and transporting oil. On the 20th of April 2010, the
Deepwater Horizon drilling platform exploded in the Gulf of Mexico. This lead to 4.9 million
barrels of oil being spilled into the Gulf of Mexico which resulted in the worst environmental
disaster in recent times with millions of aquatic animals being affected (Kinver, 2011). Although

These are due to the high temperature and operating pressure of the reaction as well as the dangers
linked to the reactants, catalyst and products. The likelihood of an event happening is minimal due
to various emergency shut down systems and safety standards built into the reactor. However, PPE
such as protective clothing, self contained breathing apparatus and eye protection must be worn due
to serious nature of an actual incident happening.
Fermentation has little to no environmental impacts. It is carbon neutral process and new emerging
technologies will completely remove the carbon dioxide by product, therefore reducing its very
minimal environmental impact even further. Hydration on the other hand, has a minor direct affect
on the environment and a major indirect affect on the environment. Hydration uses lots of energy to
supply the heat necessary for the reaction which contributes to global warming. However, the
feedstock is obtained from oil which has had numerous environmental disasters due to its mining
and transportation.

The Myth Of Moral Systems Essay
Throughout the centuries, philosophers, theologians, and many others have grappled with the
question of the source of morality. It is difficult for one to argue that objective ethical and moral
principles exist, even though some will attempt to do this, but it is a debated topic when the origins
of these principles, if they even truly exist, come into question. Simply put, most people argue that
the origins of moral systems stem from God, that these things are based in humanevolution and
constructs, or that they are born from something separate of them both. I argue that the principles
of ethicsand morals do exist and are implanted in humans by God in the form of intrinsic human
dignity; the purpose of these systems are so that God can draw humans into a closer relation with
Him. This statement contrasts the possible views of others that the origin of these principles is
natural, evolutionary, or social constructs that have been instated by humans or something other
than God.
To unpack the origins and meanings of moral systems, one must first define what morality is.
Finding a definition of morality is more difficult than it may seem. Some people would define
morality as a code of conduct for living based out of social, religious, or other personal contracts;
however, the concept is broader than that definition implies: ... some might regard it as definitional
of morality, in the normative sense, that it governs only interpersonal interactions. Others, however,
might

The Lovesong Of J Alfred Prufrock And Preludes
The portrayal of alienation and existential nihilism inherent in modern life pervades T.S Eliot s
poems, therefore, directly resonating with Jeanette Winterson s perspective of the modernist writer.
By exploring the isolation of men and the futility of life in a modernised society through The Love
Song of J Alfred Prufrock (1915) and Preludes (1915), T.S Eliot questions the uncertainty of the
Modernistic lifestyle. Both these poems which are derived from T.S Eliot s historical and cultural

In the poem, Prufrock believes that he has endured a monotonous life and constantly expresses
his discontent and restlessness. Prufrock emphasises on his discontent of what he perceived as
the emptiness and meaningless of modernistic life. During the WW1 era where society was
saturated by disillusionment and discontent, life was seen as unpromising and meaningless.
This directly correlates to the attitude of the poem, as Prufrock constantly relays the
desolateness of his life. He asserts his overall boredom and perceives life as futile when he states
I have measured my life with coffee spoons . Through T.S Eliot s use of metaphor, Eliot refers to
the mundane aspects of Prufrock s life as the most significant moments of his life, which
confronts responders with the mendacity of their lives and reflects Eliot s perspective. Here,
Eliot s nihilistic perspective of life directly relates to Jeanette Winterson s critical perspective,
stating that he was such a sensitive soul that he was easily overwhelmed by impressions, by
situations, by events, by people...he suffered continually. Winterson implicates that Eliot was a
highly sensitive individual as such the experiences he faced personally and those that others faced
deeply affect him, therefore accounting for his nihilistic view of life and humanity itself.
Furthermore, T.S Eliot utilises repetition through, For I have known them all already, known them
all to reinforce Prufrock s realisation of the meaningless life he leads. The repetition of known
them all , infers that Prufrock s life is absent of intrinsic value and completely worthless as he has
no more to offer. Prufrock surrenders to the superficial, barren aspects of life and society,
perceiving human existence as futile when he states he Shall wear the bottoms of my trousers

William Butler Yeats The Cap and Bells Essay
William Butler Yeats The Cap and Bells
William Butler Yeats s ballad The Cap and Bells depicts the behavior of love through an
allegorical account of actions between a jester and a queen. Through the use of many symbolic
references, the dramatic characters accurately reflect a lover s conduct. Referring to jester like
men throughout many of his works ( A Coat , The Fool by the Roadside , Two Songs of a Fool ,
The Hour Glass , etc.), Yeats continually portrays the actions of humans as foolish many a times.
Coming to him in a dream, The Cap and Bells likely acquired its origin from the obsessive
infatuation Yeats had with Maud Gonne. Being an acclaimed actress, Yeats most likely perceived
Gonne exceeding him in status; her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The garden is also important in that it was the first place of affection and romance between man
and woman (Eden). As the garden falls still , Yeats also depicts the harmony between nature and
love; no disturbances occur. Continuing, we read how the jester bade his soul rise upward.
Here, the man is offering his soul to rise to the queen who is above him both physically and in
social status. It rises in a straight blue garment until it reaches her window sill. With the color
blue being indicative of hope and truth, Yeats implies that the soul retains an outer covering of
hope as it rises. The soul does not rise in a curve like manner, but is instead straight, direct, and
uninterrupted by any forces which may sway its course. The window sill becomes symbolic of
the queen s spirit. As the jester s soul rises to the ledge, it hopes the queen s spirit will allow him
to enter. As Yeats explains the owls who began to call , dualistic meanings develop; the obvious
one being that night has fallen. On the contrary, this idea also implies the symbolism behind the
wisdom of the owl. In Webster s dictionary, call has an alternative meaning of finding fault .
Therefore, an attentive reader can distinguish that the owls are giving a wise warning to the jester
about giving his soul to the woman. Although Yeats does not directly state this notion, his poetic
hand constantly relates a simple idea into a

The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien Essay
The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien
The Things They Carried list the variety of things his fellow soldiers in the Alpha Company
brought on their missions. Several of these things cannot be seen, including guilt and fear, while
others are specific physical objects, including matches, morphine, M 16 rifles, and M M s candy.
Throughout the collection, the same characters reappear in various stories. The first member of
the Alpha Company to die is Ted Lavender, a grunt, or low ranking soldier, who deals with his
anxiety about the war by taking tranquilizers and smoking marijuana. Lavender is shot in the head
on his way back from going to the bathroom, and his superior, Lieutenant Jimmy Cross, blames
himself for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though O Brien is not close to Lemon, in The Dentist, he tells a story of how Lemon, who faints
before a routine checkup with an army issued dentist, tries to save face by insisting that a perfectly
good tooth be pulled. Lee Strunk, another member of the company, dies from injuries he sustains
by stepping on a landmine. In Friends, O Brien remembers that before Strunk was fatally hurt,
Strunk and Dave Jensen had made a pact that if either man were irreparably harmed, the other man
would see that he was quickly killed. However, when Strunk is actually hurt, he begs Jensen to
spare him, and Jensen complies. Instead of being upset by the news of his friend s swift death en
route to treatment, Jensen is relieved. The death that receives the most attention in The Things
They Carried is that of Kiowa, a much loved member of the Alpha Company and one of O Brien s
closest friends. In Speaking of Courage, the story of Kiowa s death is relayed in retrospect
through the memory of Norman Bowker, years after the war. As Bowker drives around a lake in
his Iowa hometown, he thinks that he failed to save Kiowa, who was killed when a mortar round
hit and caused him to sink headfirst into a marshy field. O Brien realizes that he has dealt with
his guilt over Kiowa s death differently than Norman Bowker in Notes. Just before the end of the
war, O Brien receives a long letter from Bowker that says he

performing this evaluation a company should use the three phases of the control evaluation. These
phases consist of understanding the documenting of internal control, assessing the control risks,

Toys Are Today s Society Essay
Toys Are Us
In today s society, parents throughout the United States differ on their views towards children s
toys. Some children face different options and consequences when wanting a toy from the
opposite gender section. Occasionally, you will see in the headlines of a newspaper saying how
progressive a mother is because she allows her son to wear a princess costume. Mainly, the toys
that are aimed towards boys are associated with sports and aggression. Yet for girls, the toys that
are aimed towards them are associated with homemaking and glamor. These qualities are so
recognized and known that I have decided to do an essay on them to see what is alike and what
is different in the areas of the toys. I decided to follow two families for this analysis. These two
families both come from a Mexican culture. In household X, the family is both Mexican and
American. In household Y, the family comes from a strict Mexican culture. In response to my
analysis, based on what I have seen in both of the households I visited, I feel as though the children
should choose what matters to them in relevance to the fun. Allowing the children to have a variety
of toys opens up different skills. Different toys bring different challenges. Parents should not restrict
their children to strong gender toys, as though it could not help them develop physically,
academically, artistically, cognitively, and musically.
In household X, the family of six had a young daughter who is approximately three years

The God of Small Things Book Analysis
The God of Small Things Book Analysis
Character: Esthappen, referred to as Estha, and Rahel are twins. Both are innocent children who are
still learning their manners. When they grow up and separate, Rahel moves to America and gets
married, and Estha leaves to go with Babu, their father who has left them. When he returns to
Ayemenem, Rahel also returns because they have a special bond. Their mother is referred to as
Ammu. She raises her children well with structure. Ammu has an affair with Velutha, an
untouchable, getting her banished from her home. Velutha is a servant in the Ayemenem home,
aand the twins grow to admire him. Mammachi is the twins grandmother; she does not talk much,
but often plays the violin. She is married to Pappachi, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She writes in a sorry tone when describing moments of betrayal and family problems. When writing
about the childhood of the twins, she sounds happier because of their innocence. An example of
irony is that Comrade Pillai is a communist but does not want Velutha to join the revolution just
because he is an untouchable. A revolutionary leader would want all the support he can get, but
because Velutha is inferior, he does not accept him.
Setting amp; Location: The book is mainly set in Ayemenem, India during the 1960s. Most of the
plot occurs in the Ayemenem House, which is also the Paradise Pickles amp; Preserves factory
they own. Another setting includes the movie theatre called Abhilash Talkies in the city of Kerala
when the family goes to watch The Sound of Music. Another setting is in the airport when the
family picks up Sophie Mol and Margaret Kochamma.
Writer s Style: Arundhati Roy s style is very different from others. She writes with great detail and
incorporates deep imagery. She writes in flashbacks to show how the twins childhoods still affect
them as adults. She begins with the family s lives when they are older, and go back to when the
twins were children. This helps readers know what happens to the family before finding out about
the events that occur in between.
Symbols: Pappachi s moth symbolizes fear. It is first mentioned in chapter 2 when Pappachi
discovers a new moth species, but does not claim that he discovered it.

Neural Networks in Investments Essay example
Neural Networks in Investments
I. ABSTRACT
Investment managers often find themselves overwhelmed with the large amount of data obtained
from the financial markets. Most of the data available is numeric and noisy in nature, making the
decision making process harder. These decisions usually rely on the integration of statistical
measures that attempt to compress much of the data and qualitative depictions such as graphs and
bar charts with news events and other pertinent information. Investment decisions usually involve
non linear relationships among the various components of the data. Computers in general, are very
adept at dealing with large amounts of numeric information. However, some algorithms are crucial
in analyzing and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the simplest level, neural networks are a new way of analyzing data. The revolutionary aspect of
neural networks is their ability to learn and trace the complex patterns and trends in data. Neural
networks are made up of neurons and behave like the human brain, and has the ability to apply
knowledge from past experience to new problems. Neural networks acquire this knowledge by
training on a set of data. After the network has been trained and validated, the model may be
applied to data it has not seen previously for prediction, classification, time series analysis or data
segmentation.
Unlike traditional statistical methods, neural networks do not require assumptions about the model
form. A statistical analysis requires a certain form to be assumed such as linearity, which
characterizes relationships between variables. Neural networks are more tolerant of imperfect data,
such as the presence of missing values or other data quality problems. Neural networks perform
better than traditional statistical methods when the model form is unknown or nonlinear, or when
the problems are complex with highly inter related relationships.
In a dynamic environment, neural networks are flexible tools and have the capacity to learn rapidly
and change quickly. As the data values and outcomes change, the model quickly learns and adapts
itself. Rule based systems

Struggles and Desires in A Streetcar Named Desire by...
In the play A Streetcar Named Desire, author Tennessee Williams uses his three main characters
Stanley, Stella and Blanche to illustrate the theme of sexual hedonism in a world where each
struggles for survival and desires to belong. Stanley Kowalski and his wife Stella live in a two
room apartment on Stanley s blue collar salary. They are visited by Stella s sister Blanche Dubois
who has just lost the family plantation, Belle Reve. The three exist in the jungle society of New
Orleans where each is a victim of animal desires, social pressures and use sex to try and gain
control of the world around them.
Stanley is the protagonist who is trying to exist in the wild and as an untamed animal uses sex
as power and control. In the opening scene we see him toss meat wrapped in butcher paper to
Stella, almost like the lion who goes out to hunt and returns to the den with his kill, Stanley
carries his bowling jacket and a red stained package from a butcher...He heaves the package at her
(13, 14). Later in the play, during a poker game, Blanche continues to turn on the radio, even after
Stanley has demanded she leave it off. Stanley reacts, Stanley stalks fiercely through the portieres
into the bedroom... with a shouted oath, he tosses the instrument out the window (57). This is
followed by the beating of Stella by Stanley. Every instance of conflict for Stanley is resolved with
aggressive behavior, emphasizing his animal like tendencies, and how he uses violence to maintain

To what extent are volcanic landforms fundamental to our understanding of plate tectonics theory?
(40) Plate tectonics theory is the scientific theory that describes the large scale motion of the Earth
s lithosphere, which is broken up into tectonic plates. Volcanic landforms are undoubtedly very
important in aiding our understanding of plate tectonic theory. However, there is other evidence
that must be considered as well. Different types of volcanoes are created at plate margins due to
the viscosity of the lava. The two main types of volcanoes are composite volcanoes and shield
volcanoes. Composite volcanoes are generally formed at destructive plate boundaries as high
viscous lava is produced as less dense oceanic crust is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is the south east coast of North America and the south west coast of Africa.
This aids our understanding of plate tectonic theory on a large scale over millions of years.
However, although there is a lot of evidence from volcanic landforms that can be used to explain
plate tectonics theory, there is other important evidence that cannot be ignored. Fossil evidence is
very important for our understanding of plate tectonics theory. Similar animal fossils have been
found on the South American and African continents. These fossils suggest that the continents were
once joined together. Fossils of an extinct reptile, named a Mesosaurus, have been found in southern
Africa and South America. Scientists believe that the only explanation for this fossil being found
on these two continents is that they were once joined and have become separated due to plate
movements. Plant fossils, such as a fossil of the Glossopteris tree have been found in several
countries across the Southern Hemisphere such as India, Australia and even Antarctica. The
discovery of these fossils prompted scientists to conclude that these countries must once have been
joined in one large land mass. The discovery of such fossils as this in Antarctica gives additional
weight to this theory as vegetation cannot survive the harsh Antarctic environment suggesting that
if vegetation has been able to grow previously, the positioning of the continent must have been

What You Pawn I Will Redeem Summary
The Scenes of what you Pawn I will redeem When you hear that one is homeless your mind

people because of their surroundings. That is why in my opinion that a key factor of the short

Jackson scenery/backdrop. The author points out the homelessness of the character. The story is
set to give us a since of the setting with the breakdown of the hours. He also points out certain

story. The reader could not relate to the character unless they were part of the Indian tribe, but
since he places the story in a populated area, a relatable scenery, I can read along with Jackson

Latin American Debt Crisis And Its Results
LATIN AMERICAN DEBT CRISIS, THE SOLUTIONS AND ITS RESULTS.
As it known the debt crisis of the 1980s is the most traumatic economic event in Latin America s
economic history. During the lost decade , the GPA fell from 112% to 98% of the world average,
and from 34% to 26% of the developed countries average. Development countries were giving loans
to Latin American countries to enable them to straighten their economies. However, they have had
difficulty repaying their debt. Latin American borrowing from US commercial banks and other
creditors increased dramatically during the 1970s. At the end of 1970, total outstanding debt was
only $29 billion. but by the end of 1978, that number increased to $159 billion. By 1982, the debt

Secretary Baker underlined the importance of foreign and equity investment as non debt creating.
This can have a compounding effect on growth by bringing innovation and technology and help to
keep the capital domestic. The plan proposed the private banks and institutions to keep lending to
the indebted countries. The banks could provide new loan of $20 billion over a three years period
and the World bank and the Inter American Development Bank could contribute an additional $9
billion. The Baker plan called for an annual increase of around 2.5% in commercial lending but the
bankers were uneasy with this request because the plan was reliant on continuing accumulating debt
to finance growth. Without strong assurances on the new loans, it would be very difficult to
increase international spending. The Baker plan had mixes results. The plan was efficient towards
the 15 largest debtors and it neglected the needs of smaller countries. A few of the worst indebted
countries had made progress in adjusting their external sector during 1986 1988 and the threat to
the international banking system has subsided, for the time being. The plan failed because the new
lending proposed was insufficient. Also, the debilitating effects of high interest rates and low
commodity prices were not addressed. There was not one significant contribution that it has been

  • 3. Wasteland Motherhood Motherhood is an extremely complicated process that every mother goes through when taking on the choice to acquire a child. Based on the individual, this process can be one that is natural or extremely difficult to execute. Within this process, there are new issues and mindsets that emerge in the threshold of motherhood that creates intense struggles. In the texts Waste Land (Walker, 2010) by Lucy Walker and Morning Song by Sylvia Plath the poet and director display these issues and mindsets within these two different mediums that arise in the never ending process. These texts connect to one another by demonstrating and including struggles of urges to provide, emotions of detachment, and improving mindsets through the process of motherhood.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within the article, Plaths Morning Song David Ketterer makes the statement about how Morning Song expresses Plath s conflicted feelings at the birth of her first child... (242 243). These feelings are implied adamantly throughout the poem and start off as feelings of detachment. The speaker of Morning Song exclaims We stand around blankly as walls when describing her mental composure to the audience. At this point the reader understands that the concept of motherhood is wildly new to the speaker and she has no idea what to do or how to connect herself to the child. The speaker also depicts the child as a new statue (line 4). This comparison is one that shows the audience that the mother sees the child as something mystifying and not human. Consequently, if she cannot view the child as an opposite of these characteristics, then she will fail to recognize her duties as a mother. And if she fails to recognize this, she will also fail to create a stable connection and positive feeling towards her new born child. However, these feelings of detachment later cease to exist towards the final two stanzas of the poem, unlike the intense feelings displayed in Waste ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Trifles Analysis Woman Susan Glaspell shows her readers that women will no longer be in the background. By writing Trifles she gave women an outlook they have never received before. Trifles is a coming up story about women, in other words its about women and their rise to power. Glaspell embodies the women spirit by showing the power, conning, and intectellt of the women in her play. When people think of power the first thing that comes to mind is a man Women are shown to be weak, mindless and serving, but in Trifles Glaspell depicts women to have more fire and power. In 1900 s women were housewives they did not own anything and did what they were told kind of like slaves. Trifles shows Mrs. Peters, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Wright as something much more than that. Right in the beginning (1860) it shows that Mrs. Wright might have committed murder.Trifles shows that this woman could have possess the power to kill a man. That was unheard of in the 1900 s because women did not speak out or defend themselves against a man. Mrs. Hale shows just a snippet of her power when The County Attorney on page (1861) says Dirty towels! Not much of a housekeeper, would you say, ladies? Mrs.Hale claps back with There s a great deal of work to be done on a farm. Mrs. Hales defends Mrs. Wright because she knows just how difficult it is to maintain a household and didn t feel that was necessary because they had Mrs. Wright leave in a hurry. Mrs. Hale yet again shows she is not afraid of what is to come on page (1864) she undoes the knot on the quilt and the sewing comes undone. Mrs.Hale at this time knows that this quilt is evidence but does not care and starts to sew. Mrs. Peters finally shows she is capable of having powerful demeanor on page (1866) she says ...If they hadn t held me back I would have... hurt him. A boy killed her cat and that made her angry enough to think about hurting and possibly killing him. Power has many different forms and women are starting to take on that form. Women are capable of many things and being conning is just one of them. People lie all the time to get away with things they do not want to get in trouble for. I intend on earning training hours by completing internships once I can do so next fall through McDaniel. I believe interning will also help me advance myself both personally and professionally, so working in an internship will be a great opportunity for me to grow. My decision on my career closely aligns with the trait oriented theories, or more specifically, the John Holland Typology Approach. I feel that I was attracted to school counseling because of my personality traits, including the fact that I desire to help students achieve in the classroom and in their personal lives (Zunker, 2016). I believe that my personality and the expected work roles and environment align with each other very well, and so my career choice is congruent with my traits (Zunker, 2016). As seen in the assessment that draws the personality types from Holland s theory, my personality closely aligns with what employers desire in school counselors (123test, 2017). Employers desire someone who can interact with others and help them solve problems, which aligns with social and conventional categories found as described by Holland s theory (Zunker, 2016). • 10. Michelle Obama And Ophelia Women s role in society has made tremendous steps towards equality since previous times. However, dependency on male figures has prohibited this process from happening faster. Two examples of this process are Michelle Obama and Ophelia from Hamlet. This trait comes from the fact that whenever she puts her mind into something (usually trying to help someone), she won t change it. Benihana simulation is a computer simulation of an operation management result based on concept of Benihana restaurant in Tokyo designed by Harvard school. The outline of the simulation is based on two seating position i.e. bar and the dining area. The target of this restaurant based simulation is to boost utilization, nightly profit and throughput time by using batching strategy, size of bar and cycle time and different advertising scheme. Simulation consist of 6 challenges where only 1 to 3 factor can be changed in challenges 1 to 5 whereas challenge 6 is a combination of strategies to gain the maximum output i.e. nightly profit by using all possible factors from 5 previous challenges. I started simulation by testing all the possible outcomes from challenge 1 to 5 and used the best scenario from one simulation to the other step by step and drew the conclusion at the very end. CHALLENGE 1: The first challenge was to determine whether or not batching dining room customer was beneficial. Batching means that the parties must reach a number of eight before they are seated. Two scenarios from the simulation show that batching is a better strategy that helped to increase profit. Utilization of the restaurant capacity is largest while batching. We could place 8 people at single table rather than placing group of 5 at one and 3 at another. The number of customers that can be served at one time highly influences the profit. According to the simulation it is more beneficial to use batching as average profit is $83.64 compared to average profit of $282.29 when not batched. By using batching benihana restaurants are able to eliminate bottleneck that occurs in the waiting area/bar. By doing so they are able to see more customers in their restaurants which can be seen in the graphs to the right. They lose fewer customers and more diners are served. Bottleneck primarily refers to the resources with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Russian Revolution began February 1917, many people in Russia lost faith in their government, especially since they had not done so well to begin with when they participated in World War I. Which resulted in a lot of expenses. Others may argue that since Tsar was an unproductive leader and because of the decisions he made when he was in power that influenced the Russian Revolution. Four hundred thefts every night! he cried; that is the average for the last two weeks, (One Aspect of Bolshevist Liberty). Russia could not even uphold itself because the economy was not successful compared to other countries. This led people to desire a change in the government; therefore this led to the Russian Revolution. People went to different maters to get what they wanted such as stealing since they were not getting the aid that they needed and they needed financial support. This caused them to protest against their government because many people from the lower class could not take care of their families. This cause led to a greater impact compared to Tsarist weak authority. People believe that by doing this, they will live life to their fullest potential, and this will lead to the good life. This is a good theory, but it is not actually a good idea to life live this way. This is shown by both Herodotus, The History the story of Solon and Croesus, and by the Mike Webster Sports Injury series by Greg Garber. In both of the texts, the fictional Croesus, and the real life Mike Webster both lived their lives in the moment, and they actually provide the most significant horrible warnings to show what is not the good life. By living in the moment, neither of these two actually thought about the future while they were living their good lives. If they had thought about the future, and the repercussions that could happen if their way of life was ended, then they may have been able to avoid the inevitable fall that both of them faced. Webster and Croesus both lived the good life for a time, and through both of their stories, we can see that to truly have lived the good life, one must die living it. While both Webster and Croesus undergo very similar crucibles, there are a few distinct differences between the texts that complement each other, so by understanding one of the texts more clearly, the other can be better understood, which in turn, leads to a better understanding of the good life. In Ostend, the gigantic statue depicts a triumphant Leopold on horseback, with a crowd of his adulating subjects (both Congolese and Belgians) at his feet. It is strategically placed on the sea promenade, is very almost aggressively high and can thus be seen from far away. Yet, public statuary can also encourage demonstrations of resistance: in 2004 a group of local anarchists called De Stoeten Ostendenoare symbolically sawed the hand of a Congolese among the statue complex in order to denounce the abuses committed by the colonial regime (such as the severing of hands in this case) and the role played by the King in the Congo. Initially, the city council was in favour of leaving the altered statue as such, as a reminder of Leopold s dark colonial past. Yet, to this day, the debate concerning the suitability of a repair and replacement of the hand is still running. In Brussels as well, Leopold s monumental statue is in a public thoroughfare, upright on his horse, looking masterly over a big boulevard and offices, and with the Royal Palace behind him. Ironically, he is facing MatongГ©, the district of Brussels where the Congolese immigrants settled down during the past decades. While the development of guerrilla war does not factor into Weigley s thesis that the United States has moved from a strategy of attrition to a strategy of annihilation, it is important in understanding how and why the United States made that change. For Weigley, this change came during the American Civil War when Grant became Commanding General of the Army. Grant did not believe the war could be won with a single, decisive victory against the Confederate Army, rather, he initiated a strategy to destroy the Confederate Armies through many battles and by attacking their economic resources. The process requires tremendous amount of energy to heat up the mixture of ethene and steam up to the reaction temperatures. Ethene is obtained by a cracked fraction obtained from oil. • 36. The Myth Of Moral Systems Essay Throughout the centuries, philosophers, theologians, and many others have grappled with the question of the source of morality. It is difficult for one to argue that objective ethical and moral principles exist, even though some will attempt to do this, but it is a debated topic when the origins of these principles, if they even truly exist, come into question. Simply put, most people argue that the origins of moral systems stem from God, that these things are based in humanevolution and constructs, or that they are born from something separate of them both. I argue that the principles of ethicsand morals do exist and are implanted in humans by God in the form of intrinsic human dignity; the purpose of these systems are so that God can draw humans into a closer relation with Him. This statement contrasts the possible views of others that the origin of these principles is natural, evolutionary, or social constructs that have been instated by humans or something other than God. To unpack the origins and meanings of moral systems, one must first define what morality is. Finding a definition of morality is more difficult than it may seem. Some people would define morality as a code of conduct for living based out of social, religious, or other personal contracts; however, the concept is broader than that definition implies: ... some might regard it as definitional of morality, in the normative sense, that it governs only interpersonal interactions. In the poem, Prufrock believes that he has endured a monotonous life and constantly expresses his discontent and restlessness. Prufrock emphasises on his discontent of what he perceived as the emptiness and meaningless of modernistic life. During the WW1 era where society was saturated by disillusionment and discontent, life was seen as unpromising and meaningless. This directly correlates to the attitude of the poem, as Prufrock constantly relays the desolateness of his life. He asserts his overall boredom and perceives life as futile when he states I have measured my life with coffee spoons . Through T.S Eliot s use of metaphor, Eliot refers to the mundane aspects of Prufrock s life as the most significant moments of his life, which confronts responders with the mendacity of their lives and reflects Eliot s perspective. Here, Eliot s nihilistic perspective of life directly relates to Jeanette Winterson s critical perspective, stating that he was such a sensitive soul that he was easily overwhelmed by impressions, by situations, by events, by people...he suffered continually. Winterson implicates that Eliot was a highly sensitive individual as such the experiences he faced personally and those that others faced deeply affect him, therefore accounting for his nihilistic view of life and humanity itself. Furthermore, T.S Eliot utilises repetition through, For I have known them all already, known them all to reinforce Prufrock s realisation of the meaningless life he leads. The repetition of known them all , infers that Prufrock s life is absent of intrinsic value and completely worthless as he has no more to offer. Referring to jester like men throughout many of his works ( A Coat , The Fool by the Roadside , Two Songs of a Fool , The Hour Glass , etc.), Yeats continually portrays the actions of humans as foolish many a times. The garden is also important in that it was the first place of affection and romance between man and woman (Eden). As the garden falls still , Yeats also depicts the harmony between nature and love; no disturbances occur. Continuing, we read how the jester bade his soul rise upward. Here, the man is offering his soul to rise to the queen who is above him both physically and in social status. It rises in a straight blue garment until it reaches her window sill. With the color blue being indicative of hope and truth, Yeats implies that the soul retains an outer covering of hope as it rises. The soul does not rise in a curve like manner, but is instead straight, direct, and uninterrupted by any forces which may sway its course. The window sill becomes symbolic of the queen s spirit. As the jester s soul rises to the ledge, it hopes the queen s spirit will allow him to enter. As Yeats explains the owls who began to call , dualistic meanings develop; the obvious one being that night has fallen. On the contrary, this idea also implies the symbolism behind the wisdom of the owl. In Webster s dictionary, call has an alternative meaning of finding fault . Therefore, an attentive reader can distinguish that the owls are giving a wise warning to the jester about giving his soul to the woman. The revolutionary aspect of neural networks is their ability to learn and trace the complex patterns and trends in data. Neural networks are made up of neurons and behave like the human brain, and has the ability to apply knowledge from past experience to new problems. Neural networks acquire this knowledge by training on a set of data. After the network has been trained and validated, the model may be applied to data it has not seen previously for prediction, classification, time series analysis or data segmentation. Unlike traditional statistical methods, neural networks do not require assumptions about the model form. A statistical analysis requires a certain form to be assumed such as linearity, which characterizes relationships between variables. Neural networks are more tolerant of imperfect data, such as the presence of missing values or other data quality problems. Neural networks perform better than traditional statistical methods when the model form is unknown or nonlinear, or when the problems are complex with highly inter related relationships. In a dynamic environment, neural networks are flexible tools and have the capacity to learn rapidly and change quickly. As the data values and outcomes change, the model quickly learns and adapts itself. Rule based systems ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Volcanic landforms are undoubtedly very important in aiding our understanding of plate tectonic theory. However, there is other evidence that must be considered as well. Fossil evidence is very important for our understanding of plate tectonics theory. Similar animal fossils have been found on the South American and African continents. These fossils suggest that the continents were once joined together. Fossils of an extinct reptile, named a Mesosaurus, have been found in southern Africa and South America. Scientists believe that the only explanation for this fossil being found on these two continents is that they were once joined and have become separated due to plate movements. Plant fossils, such as a fossil of the Glossopteris tree have been found in several countries across the Southern Hemisphere such as India, Australia and even Antarctica. The discovery of these fossils prompted scientists to conclude that these countries must once have been joined in one large land mass. Throughout his journey in the city of Seattle Washington he comes across many Indian and city natives to help him come up with the funds the pawn shop order ask of him. Because of his homelessness and being in a big city made the challenges that much harder along with him being a drunk. I feel that if he had put the setting of his story on the reservation that he belongs to, the outcome would not have been as good of a story. The reader could not relate to the character unless they were part of the Indian tribe, but since he places the story in a populated area, a relatable scenery, I can read along with Jackson and walk right along beside him looking at the train tracks where he was awakened by the officer, I feel like I was in the bar with him with all his cousins. This can have a compounding effect on growth by bringing innovation and technology and help to keep the capital domestic. The Baker plan called for an annual increase of around 2.5% in commercial lending but the bankers were uneasy with this request because the plan was reliant on continuing accumulating debt to finance growth.
