How To Write An Essay Proposal Example
Writing an essay on the topic "How To Write An Essay Proposal Example" can be a challenging
task that requires a thoughtful and systematic approach. First and foremost, you need to have a
clear understanding of what a proposal is and how it differs from a standard essay. Crafting a
proposal involves outlining the key points, establishing the purpose, and presenting a structured
plan for the essay.
One of the difficulties lies in the need for comprehensive research to provide a solid foundation
for your proposal. You must delve into the subject matter to gather relevant information,
examples, and evidence to support your argument. This process can be time-consuming,
demanding a careful balance between depth and brevity to convey your message effectively.
Another challenge is the art of concise and persuasive writing. A proposal should be clear and
compelling, outlining the purpose of your essay and how you intend to address it. Striking the
right balance between being informative and engaging while maintaining a formal tone can be
intricate.
Structuring your essay proposal also poses a difficulty. It requires a coherent organization of
ideas, a logical flow, and a well-defined introduction, body, and conclusion. Achieving this
structure demands careful planning and consideration of each element's placement to ensure a
seamless progression of thoughts.
Moreover, adapting your writing style to the specific requirements of an essay proposal can be
tricky. It involves adhering to any guidelines provided by the assignment while expressing your
unique voice and perspective. Striking this balance can be challenging, as too much conformity
may result in a generic proposal, while too much individuality may deviate from the expected
format.
In conclusion, crafting an essay proposal on the topic of "How To Write An Essay Proposal
Example" demands a blend of research skills, concise writing abilities, effective organization,
and adherence to specific guidelines. It's a process that challenges your intellectual and creative

Issues with Athletes’ Salaries and How to Change Them
Professional sports were beginning to be organized in the 1850s. At this point, their
salaries, although they were still higher than the average person s, were not too
outrageous. In the 1880s and 90s, baseball players in particular were making on
average about $1,750 annually. Even though this was three times the salary of an
industrial worker of the time, they were not happy with this amount of money and
felt they should be earning more (Baseball n.d.). In the 1970s, the worlds of
professional sportstook a drastic turn. According to an article by J.L. Carnagie, Two
words described sports in the 1970s: big business. Owners and athletes in major
professional team sports knew there was money to be made in their games, and they
went... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to a study done by American Demographics magazine in April of 1996,
the number of adults making $20,000 to $29,000 annually who attended sporting
events dropped from 11% in 1985 to 8% in 1995. This shows how exclusive
sporting events are becoming due to increasing prices. The attendance rates of
people in lower income brackets dropped, while the rates of people in higher
income brackets did not change much (Professional Sports Salaries, n.d.) Lastly,
but most importantly is the affect that athletes salaries have on children and
teenagers. Many people fear that the illusion given off by the professional sports
industry is detrimental to children and teenagers who are trying to decide what
they should do with their lives. Young people read about professional athletes and
hear about them on the news and from people around them all the time. They
realize the kind of money they make and that sounds like a great lifestyle to them.
What many kids do not realize is the very minute chance they have of actually
playing a sport professionally. Only about 1% of high school athletes go on to play
in college. And from those college athletes only about 1% go on the play
professionally. So the chances of becoming a professional athlete are about 1 in
10,000 or 0.01% for high school athletes and in 1997, 66% of seventh and eighth
grade boys expected to play professional sports as their career (Professional Sports
Salaries). Not only do children
Essay on Comparison of Pope and Swift
Alexander Pope and Jonathan Swift in their respective poems, The Rape of the Lock
and The Progress of Beauty, offer opposite representations of the nature and function
of cosmetics in eighteenth century society. In The Rape of the Lock, Pope gives a
positive representation of cosmetic s nature and function in eighteenth century
society. On the other hand, Swift s representation takes a very negative tone. Both
poets clearly appreciate and admire the natural beauty of a woman and their opposite
opinions and therefore representation of the nature and function of cosmetics, springs
from this admiration. Pope, whilst slightly ridiculing cosmetics through his use of
satire, represents cosmetics in a positive light through portraying it as... Show more

However the satire is predominately light hearted, indicating Pope s optimistic and
light hearted feelings towards the use of cosmetics in eighteenth century society.
The satire Pope uses on cosmetics does not put a negative tone on the use of
cosmetics, but rather puts into question Belinda s, and therefore other women s
priorities. In Pope s poem, a bible as such belongs with puffs and patches. Keener s
point in writing this is that Pope, by throwing in something as important as the
bible with things as futile as puffs and powders and patches, is satirizing Belinda s
priorities; for Belinda, religion is just as important as her appearance. Pope does
not represent cosmetics as having a negative nature through his satire, but rather
shows the futility of women caring as much about their appearance as they do
about God. This is the only real satire Pope uses in relation to the use of cosmetics.
It may be argued that Pope is using this to show the negative function of cosmetics
in eighteenth century society in that it distracts women from God. However, vanity
is something that can exist with or without the presence of cosmetics. Even in Eden,
Eve was distracted by her own beauty, giving in to vanity. Therefore it would be fair
to argue that this being the only presence of satire of cosmetics in The Rape of the
Lock, Pope maintains his representation of the nature and

1.At the beginning of the Tertiary, there is a layer of andesite breccia a fast cooling
extrusive rock that has not traveled far from its original deposition. This indicates a
volcanic depositional environment. This formation was then intruded by intrusive
slower cooling rocks that create a noncomformity between it and the Walker
formation. The tuff breccia in the Walker formation is consistent with the same
depositional environment as the andesite breccia formation as they are both extrusive
rocks. It is possible that there was an eruption from a volcano that deposited the
highly viscous andesite rocks followed by slower falling ash, which was then ... Show

The Freeman Jewett shale formation is a strong indicator of a low energy/quiet
depositional environment. It is likely this layer was originally deposited offshore
in a marine environment. This is further supported by the following Bena Gravel
formation, which is emblematic of a transitional beach type environment with
pebble size sand and gravel. This coarser layer of sand and gravel overlying the
silty and sandy shale could be evidence for a regressive cycle and receding sea
levels. The Bena Gravel formation is eroded by Kern River Gravel which creates a
disconformity in the stratigraphy. The Kern River Gravel has stream like deposits
but since it cuts through the Bena Gravel Formation it is suggestive the Kern River
Gravel formation has a delta depositional environment. The Terrace formation
suggests a stream depositional environment. If terracing is present, it indicates a
decrease in discharge over time. The next formation, Alluvium, is evidence of an
alluvial fan deposition, a glacial deposition that has been reworked by meltwater, or
of a dried lake bed. (Levin p.86). Regardless of which, the Alluvium formation gives
away easily to mass wasting to from the landslide formation.
Most alluvial fan deposits occur near the margins of the depositional basin because
they occur in low areas at the base of the Temblor formation or Sierra Nevada s. The

Compare And Contrast Ancient Greek And Roman Culture
The Romans and Ancient Greeks have impacted culture in a dominant way. Their
models have exerted an evolution that endured through the years. They inspired
development in the areas political, economic and military forces. Their lasting
empires have provided an influence on civilization that is still seen today. Societies
under both empires had a lot alike and differences. Both Empires were alike in that
both started out with them being city states. Also, their religious beliefs were quite
the same. They did not believe in One God with all the control and authority. They
felt that they were quite a few gods and goddesses. The names of the gods and
goddesses did differ due to their different languages (Jenkins, P, 2009). They both

The Greeks were along the Mediterranean coast. Although the Empire was short and
not huge like The Romans their influence was distinguishable. They influenced those
surrounding them including the Romans through their ways of commerce, social
behavior, and colonizing ways along the coast and other nearby seaside Regions. In
contrast, the Romans build a vast centralized state. Their Empire consisted of most of
Northern Africa and Europe. A close knit management and the way their trade was
organized and processed inspired the development of the way people accomplished
ideas, moved goods, and people traveled. Their methods would down the road
influence their neighbors in Europe, Southwest Asia, and Mediterranean cultures.
Greek nation altered from lords to totalitarian, supremacist, warrior society in
Sparta and the immediate popular government of Athens, while the Roman Empire
rulers offered route to an agent, choosing republic until it was dislodged by the
energy of Emperor rulers. For example, Athenian people could vote, yet the ladies
were not natives, while in the Roman Empire they were legal. Greece was the focal
point of Greece s Golden Age around 400 BCE, while the Roman Empire came in
the earliest century of the Republic and in the first century or two of the Romans
China s Rule Under Legalism And Launching A Military...
From 600 BCE to 600 CE, China experienced changes in its political system in terms
of the dissimilar ruling styles of different leaders, the rule under Legalism, and the
influence of philosophical thinking like Daoism. These changes, influenced by
aspects of the world and its own region, shaped China into its Classical state. In
contrast, the concept of the Mandate of Heaven, the civil service system, and the
significance of unity through a strong central government remained constant
throughout Chinas Classical period. These continuities followed through, staying
essentially the same as an important part of China s identity. From warring states to
an empire, China experienced a drastic change in restoring the civilization through
different dynasties and rulers. The unity China wanted was non existent during the
age of the warring states as there were rivalries between the seven competing
kingdoms. Shihuangdi of the state of Qin tried to reunify China through Legalism
and launching a military campaign. After the collapse of Shihuangdi s brutal policies,
China switched over to the milder and moralistic rule of the Han dynastythat
followed. To try and restore China into something great, the people underwent
changes to find a solution that would end the disorder. Likewise, Rome also
experienced a change in its civilization from city state to empire through its way of
ruling. Although each civilization targeted a different way to build up their empire,
both China and Rome
Lizzie Borden Murder
The Murders in Fall River
On August 4, 1892 at 92 Second Street in Fall River Massachusetts, stepmom Abby
and father, Andrew Borden were slaughtered by an axe in their home ( The Trial of
Lizzie Borden ). Lizzie s biological mother died in 1862, and her father Andrew
remarried the spinstress, Abby Durfee Gray. Since it was a stepmother to be
murdered, it raised the question as to if Lizzie really liked her stepmother. Abby s
body was in the guest room, murdered an hour before Andrew, who was on a sofa.
Lizzie, their daughter, was first suspected then convicted based on the evidence. A
year later she was pronounced innocent. What really happened will remain a mystery
because someone s word on what happened could easily be altered and the ... Show

Three days later, on August 9th, Lizzie started to be questioned in the courtroom
over police headquarters. During the first four hours of the examination Lizzie gave
confusing and contradicting information pertaining to where she was and what she
was doing. Two days later, on August 11th, Lizzie was read her rights and arrested
by Chief Hillard for the murder of her parents. The following day Lizzie made a
plea of not guilty to the charges against her before being transported by rail car to a
jail located in Taunton, an area located eight miles from Fall River. August 22nd
Lizzie was returned to the Fall River courtroom for her preliminary hearing, after a
criminal complaint has been filed by the prosecutor, next is to determine whether
there is enough evidence to require a trial. At the end of the hearing, Judge Josiah
Blaisdell pronounced Lizzie as probably guilty and ordered her to face a grand
jury. From November 15th to the 21st Lizzie faced the grand jury to plead not
guilty. It wasn t until December first, that a testimony was made against Lizzie by
a friend of the families. Alex Russell appeared before the grand jury to make his
statement about the blue dress he saw Lizzie burn. Lizzie responded with the fact
that the dress was covered in old paint. The question then is, why was she burning it
the day of the murders? The statement from Russell matched with an earlier
testimony made by Bridget, she claimed Lizzie was wearing a blue dress the
morning of the murders. Since both testimonies matched, it was enough evidence to
convince the jury to indict, formally accuse of or charge with a serious crime, Lizzie
for the murder of her parents. On June 5th, 1893 Andrew Jennings and George
Robinson represented the defendant while Knowlton and Thomas Moody argued the
case of the prosecution. Moody opened the case with a two hour long speech while

THE JUDICIARY It is given the power to interpret laws thus it has the following
checks over the executive; once the judges are appointed for ;life they are free from
the control of the executive branch and determines whether the law is
unconstitutional or not. Checks over the legislative branch, courts can judge
legislative acts to be unconstitutional.
Then the question arises, since when the roles of the organs of the government are
summed up its mostly making the policies and laws for the citizens, who implements
them?this takes us to the public administrators.
DIFINATION OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND ITS ORGANISATION
In order to understand a concept take it bit by bit, therefore before understanding
public administration (PAD), administration has to be understood first. According to
Heywood (2002:363)administration generally means the task of coordinating and
executing policies, it implies assisting or serving others. All civil servants are
involved in administration. He goes on to say Public Administration refers to the
mechanisms and institutions through which public policies are put into effect.
Also according to McLean (2009:440) PAD denotes the institutions of public
bureaucracy within a state this is the organisational structures which form the basis of
public decision making and implementation and the arrangement by which public
service are delivered.
So to my understanding Public Administration is all about the civil servants
The Death Of The Doctor
As I stood there watching my mother cry, I couldn t seem to fathom how death
could cause someone who was here yesterday to disappear today. My mother and I
witnessed my thirty three year old aunt whither away from ovarian cancer. A death
that was avoidable had she had better access to healthcare for early diagnosis. My
aunt s cancer never received treatment and progressed until there was nothing left in
her pelvic cavity. It ignited a spark; a spark to search for answers. A spark that grew
brighter as I grew up and which inspires me to treating cancer and other similarly
vicious diseases.
I grew up on a small island where the doctor was seen as someone who would kill
you from malpractice or carelessness. In reality people would not go to the doctor
until they were extremely sick and usually there was nothing the doctor could do.
There was great fear surrounding the doctor and it contributed to many family
members suffering needlessly. But after my aunt died, I wanted to believe
something different. I refused to accept that nothing could be done. When my
father got a job opportunity in America, my mother and I decided to push the idea
of moving to escape because of the abuse we had endured from him. We knew in
America we would have resources to escape, which we didn t have in the Caribbean.
I then decided if I moved to the United States I would become a physician.
To gain firsthand experience I volunteered at a pain management clinic where I soon
learned that each person

Analysis Of Akeelah And The Bee
The film Akeelah and the Bee is about an eleven year old African American girl
living in a low income area in South Los Angeles. Akeelah and the people around

Spelling Bee. Despite her mother s objections about the Bee, Akeelah doesn t give up

and the many people around her including a mysterious teacher named Dr. Larabee.
As the whole community cheers her on Akeelah makes it to the National SpellingBee
and completes her goal by winning the Bee but not without overcoming her
insecurities and the many negative obstacles in her way (Atchison, Akeelah and the
Bee). Throughout the movie Akeelah is able to overcome all the challenges put in her
way with the help of the relationships she makes within her community, her
capabilities and willingness and her determination in reaching her goals, Akeelah
becomes a figure for her community that positive things can happen in tough
situations if you remain focused and determined.

Concept Of Integrated Marketing Communication
In 1989, Four A s (American Association of Advertising Agencies) defined Integrated
Marketing communication as a marketing communication strategy that provide a
clear consistent and maximum communication influence to target audiences, by use a
variety of communication disciplines. (Eg. sale promotion, public relations, general
advertising and direct response.)
Integrated marketing communication could be use to create, maintain and develope
the customer relationship for those target audiences who most likely to contribute a
long term profit, for example loyal consumers, governments, regulatory agencies and
investors.
Effective Integrated Marketing communication could nurture a stong customer
relationships, but it require a careful planning to an integrated communication
program. It could maximize certain communication objectives that potentiality lead to
a desired behavior form the target audience.
It is notable that once a company adopted the integrated marketing communication
strategy there is a major effect that every time the company in touch with its target
audiences, the communication effort must be clear, effective and consistent, no
messages contradict, but rater to support or complement each other.
George E. Belth and Michael A. Belch (2007) summarize that, there are seven main
elements to achieve a promotional mix, which could accomplish company s
communication objectives.
1. Advertising Any non personal communication by use mass media to send

Engine Of History
Engines of History The engines of history were based on the social, economic,
political and intellectual changes throughout history. The duties of a king from the
excerpt of Arthashastra clearly display the impersonal forces. For example, a king
has the large impersonal forces like a diverse environment, a heavy economic
standard, and never has a social class problem. During a kings day, he deals with
law and order, attends the affairs of the urban and rural population, taking a bath,
which everyone in medieval times did not do, and eats his meal. A king also ponders
over the teachings of the sciences and his urgent duties for the day and he should
hold consultations and send out the officers of the secret service for their operations.

Women, Cultural Appropriation, Racial And Gender...
Throughout this course we discussed the Jazz Age, cultural appropriation, racial and
gender differences, and African Americans and Parisians during the interwar years.
We looked at many African American performers and performances that had a huge
impact on France s cultural identity. After learning about all of this in class, I wanted
to take my research further. I decided to research female foreign performers who
have had a major influence on the JazzAge in Paris. I decided to focus specifically on
three foreign females, and they are: singer and dancer Josephine Baker, dancer
Molly Spotted Elk, and dancer Ada Bricktop Smith. Each of these female performers
had a large impact on taking the Jazz Agein Paris to another level. African Americans
were responsible for bringing jazz music to Europe. Due to the fact that the people in
Paris were far more excepting of colored people, many African Americansinger and
dancers made their way to Paris to start their careers and a make a name for
themselves. There are few cities in the world that are more associated with jazz
than Paris (Pelzer). Most of the time, African American s in Paris were just looked
at by Parisians as entertainers (Stovall). These African American were objects of
Parisian curiosity and fantasy, and the audiences were very much intrigued by the
exoticism that went into so many performances. These foreign entertainers became
the backbones of the Paris Jazz Age (Pelzer). Josephine Baker is one of
A Tale of Sin and Atonement Essay
The Beautiful Vampire A tale of sin and atonement?
In Theophile Gautier s The Beautiful Vampire, he is very subtle in presenting the sins
committed. Although all of the characters in this story commit various sins, the sins
of Romuald are the sins primarily focused on. This sinning of Romauld is very
unique in that he is a ordained priest who should be one of the last people to commit
these sins. It is this reason that makes the story what it is and draws the readers in
initially.
The first sin that the reader witnesses is during Romauld s ordainment ceremony.
Instead of keeping his head bowed, as one should during prayer, he raises his head
and spots the beautiful Clarimonde (Gautier 231). If Romauld would have stayed ...

Romauld s temptation into evil is very much like that of the temptation of Adam and
Eve in the Garden of Eden. He does not realize that it is actually evil enticing him
just as eve did not realize that the serpent was an evil being.
Romauld s lusting for Clarimonde becomes more evident when he is taken to be
with her dead body (244). This lusting over a dead body is very disturbing to many
readers for two different reasons. The first of these reasons is the fact that a
celibate priest is having these sexual attractions towards a woman. A priest, one of
the holiest men of God should be able to control his ungodly desires if anyone can.
The second reason for this disturbance is the face that he is lusting over the body of
a dead woman. Although we find out later that she has been dead all along, not just
in her chamber, the idea of necrophilia is a very disturbing concept to most people.
After she is found not to be dead, Romauld continuously wonders what would have
happened if he was not a priest. Would they be lovers? Would they be married? Or
would they even be together at all? This questioning of his life s choices is very
similar his previous thoughts of renouncing God and these thoughts appear to
continue to arise throughout the story which makes the reader wonder if this many is
even holy at all. Later in the story, Romauld mentions how he is able to

walking thr the halls. His name is Govanni. He was so handsome, so strong, I love
how his hair stands up when he walks, fluffy it is, it was like watching a cloud just
sit there on his head. RINGGGGGGGGGGG! , goes the school bell. Bye ! She
yelled to Kyle I better get going she told herself. Hello students ! How was your
weekend !? the gym teacher said in a very loud and manly voice. Today is, Let s
start this week by lifting weights! Who s down for going first !? Of Course, she
lifted her hand. She wanted to see if that can impress Govanni I will go sir. she
said in a passionate voice. Alright then, let s do this! The gym teacher said with a
smile. He grabbed a 15 pound weight. Here, take these. the gym teacher said with a
HUGE smile. She grabbed the weights and was done right away. There ! she said
with a red face. She looked straight to Govanni She had no idea what he was
thinking but she knew that he loved it. The next morning, when she was getting
ready to look good for Govanni. She put on 100 layers of mascara, and 100 layers of
foundation, and a lot more. Jazzy!!!! You ready to go honey !? said Jazzy s mom. I
m going Mom! I m only on my 98th wipe of Mascara! yelled Jazzy in a hustle. As
she ran down stairs, she remembered
Pros And Cons Of Columbine High School Shooting
The Columbine High School Shooting was a tragic day for many 2 students
Dylan and Eric killed 14 students died and 1 teacher in the most infamous school
shooting of its time. Many wonder what caused these 2 students to decide to shoot
up their school. Some say it was bullying others say it was because they were a part
of a school group called the trench coat mafia. Dylan in the investigation was seen as

Participation Of A Democratic System Of Governance
Participation is more of how the youths conduct themselves during election in helping
them make informed decisions. Participation requires that the youth be at the Centre
of decision making processes. This is critical because in a democratic system of
governance, rule by the people is the underlying and founding principle of democracy
. Engagement is about making them become agents of change, helping them ascend
to decision making institutions.
Opportunities for youth to participate in political processes depend largely on the
political and cultural context. A democratic environment can be more favorable to
participation in general. For the most part, promoting youth participation needs to be
geared towards achieving levels relative to those of the rest of the population.
The focus on youth, in terms of their engagement in the political arena, is a relatively
new priority but extremely timely, particularly in light of recent events and
democratic transitions.
Objectives
To train the youth to actively participate in elective position and governance
To increase the number of youths registering as political party members
To promote youth friendly community based development planning exercises in a
participative and inclusive manner (youth advisory boards)
To encourage the youths be agent of change in good governance and accountability
Scope of the Problem
Decreasing levels of youth participation in elections and shrinking membership in
political parties and traditional
Parliamentary And Presidential System Of Government
Parliamentary and Presidential System of Government: An Analysis of Modus
Operandi, Characteristics and Effects in a Political Community. A presidential
system of government is one in which power lies in the hands of an elected
individual known as the head of state and the head of government as well. It is
composed of checks and balances of which power is separated into other tiers of
government such as the legislative and judicial arms of government. The legislative
is broken down into upper and lower chamber elected by the people. The cabinetis
primarily appointed by the president upon emergence into power. A parliamentary
system of government on the other hand has the office of the head of government and
head of statedivided among the Prime minister and the monarch often represented by
the governor general respectively. The parliament consists of legislatures from the
upper and lower chamber. Its cabinet which are members of the political executive is
also appointed by the prime minister and they are both answerable to the parliament,
as parliament are answerable to the people. In this paper we are going to examine the
characteristics of both system of government, their impacts in our society as well as
the benefits and detriments of both systems of government, then we draw conclusion
on which system is the most preferable. A presidential systemof government
supersedes a parliamentary system of government because of its role in ensuring
adequate separation of powers

OBTAINING and RECORDING PHYSICAL EVIDENCE
When it comes to identifying people that have committed a criminal act, the most
positive means is through fingerprints. When we are born, our fingerprints stay with
us until we die and our bodies start decomposing. To the human eye our fingerprints
look the same, however, further investigation will show that each of us have a unique
set of friction ridges that comprise our fingerprints and sets our identity apart from
each other. At a crime scene, there are two different types of fingerprints that may be
found. Patent prints are visible to the human eye. Latent prints are unintentional
prints found on items of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the bi chromatic powder is used on dark surfaces it will look light and it will
show up dark on light surfaces. The best rule for processing latent prints using
powder is to use less lifting powder than you think you are going to need. Many
latent prints can be ruined by over processing with powder. David suggests give the
print powder jar a quick shake before opening the lid then goes on to say remove the
lid and place the fingerprint brush inside the lid (Spraggs, 2007). The lid will retain
enough powder to start processing the latent print. A precise amount of pressure
applied while spinning the brush will produce a good print with good ridge detail.
He mentions that too much powder will fill the ridges and over process the print
and too little will not produce enough, keeping in mind that too much contact
between the brush and the print will damage the print. Once the print has been
developed it is time to begin lifting the print. Lifting tape comes in a variety of
widths and compositions. General lifting tape is used on flat surfaces and
polyethylene tape is great for curved surfaces like door knobs. An important key in
applying the tape is to keep it evenly and as smooth as possible. David suggests using

Slavery In The Narrative Of Olaudah Equiano
Equiano conjured the horrors of slavery in ways that no one else would be able to.
He had firsthand experience and was more educated on the occurrence. In the
Narrative of Olaudah Equiano, it tells about his life and what he went through as a
slave. A few things were trading between white slave owners, along with very harsh
treatment. The people who transported the slaves ignored the fact that they were
humans, too. The journey being labeled as horrific would be an understatement and
would not give it justice. There was an abundant amount of trading and bartering that
happened between white slave owners. We were not many days in the merchant s
custody before we were sold after their usual manner. (Page 4) The slaves were

Capitalism And Urbanization In America
Urbanization already took hold on the east coast and slowly transitioned to the west
coast. Capitalism and industrialization found a new home with the mass immigration
waves.
Manufacturing and mass production of clothing led to the popularization of these
jeans. The
influence of clothes often plays a central role in the manifestation and preservation of
social
standards. An emerging consumer culture emerged from the mines and from the need
for
clothes that would sustain extreme elements and long laborious work schedules.
Identity
becomes an important issue with the advent of mass consumption. Consumption in
many ways
changed social norms during this time. Elements like dynamics of personal identity
and mass
consumption reveal how cultural values are in constant cycles of being made and
remade through
every day transactions.
Mass manufacturing of textiles and clothing arguably directly or indirectly affected
the
economic growth of California and even the west coast. Additionally, mining booms

the population of the eastern U.S., the Pacific coast, instantaneously grew from an

Ansoff Matrix Essay
We will now analyze the corporate level strategy of Patanjali using the Ansoff Product
and Market Growth Matrix. There are four components of Ansoff Matrix market
penetrations, market development, product development and diversification and we
will discuss each of them in detail below.
a)Market Penetration: It focuses on expanding sales of the existing product in firms
existing market. This can be achieved by a combination of pricing strategy , sales
promotion and marketing and the objective of the firm is to be the dominant player
in that market by driving out the competitors and increasing the loyal customer base.
This would make it less risky and require less market research for the firm to expand
as it can utilize its existing resources ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This strategy requires the firm to develop products appealing to existing markets and
the business will have to develop new competencies. This strategy emphasis on
research and development, market research on customer needs and innovative ideas.
This usually happens if the firm has a huge customer base and the market for existing
product is reaching saturation and thus market penetration strategy could not be
applied. Patanjali in its part focused on quality, purity and affordability and the
followers of Baba Ramdev formed its core set of customers. Patanjali started
making amla (gooseberry) juice which happened accidently. A group of farmers
don t know what to do with excel gooseberries as the price was very low and there
was not much demand. At that Patanjali introduced this new drink Amla Juice to the
market which was an instant hit. The introduction of new product was little riskier
as they didn t knew how the product would be accepted by the customers, but after
the drink became hit, they introduced various varieties of juices likes Aloe Vera
Juice, Hing digestive golis and also personal care products like shikakai, sherbets
and spices that Indians otherwise shopped at gramudyog outlets. They also plan to
introduce other products from baby care to garments and from bio fertilisers to
healthy food, and also organic cotton

В·Plasma has neither a definite volume nor a definite shape.
В·Plasma is often seen within ionized gases.
В·Plasma is distinct from a gas because it possesses unique properties: oIt contains
free electrical charges (not bound to atoms or ions) oIt can be produced by heating
and ionizing a gas. В·Plasma is often found in areas of the planet/universe where
extremely high heats are possible and gases exist to help create the plasma.
8.Put hydrogen bonds, dispersion forces and dipole dipole forces in order of how
strong they are and give an example of each type of attraction.
В·Strongest = Hydrogen bonds which have hydrogen attached to a fluorine, oxygen,
or nitrogen (Example: Oxygen s attraction to other hydrogens in a bunch of H2O s)
В·Medium Strength = Dipole Dipole bonds which occur between the slight positive
end of one polar molecule and the slight negative end of another polar molecule
(Example: Nitrogen s attraction to other hydrogens in a bunch of NH3 s)
В·Weakest = Dispersion forces which occur in any covalently bonded molecule
(Example: Hydrogen s attraction to other hydrogens in a bunch of CH4 s) Г Note 1:
These are intermolecular forces of attraction so they occur OUTSIDE of the
molecules! Г Notes 2: One covalent bond can be all three types at once.

Group Thesis: Student athletes should be paid for their participation in college
athletic programs.
Individual Thesis: Have you ever wondered why NFL athletes get paid to play a
sport, but college athletes don t?
College athletes should not get paid to play a sport because they are playing for the
love of the game. Many athletes get scholarships or benefits to play a sport in the
first place which means that they don t need any more money. Sports should be a
reward for good grades and only players that really love the sport should play it.
Any athlete should just play the sport for fun and not money. It s way too difficult to
pay a college athlete because each athlete plays differently. The NCAA, an

How Did Miles Davis Develop
Miles Davis was the primary developer of the cool jazz style.
Miles Davis a cool jazz icon who will forever be known for the innovation he
brought us today known as the cool jazz style. Miles Davis wasn t just known for his
unique style he had created he was known for his uniqueness in that he brought a new
era of using the trumpet.
Miles Davis or officially known as Miles Dewy Davis III was born on May, 26,
1926 in Alton, Illinois. Unlike many African Americans of the time miles grew up in
a middle class household environment with A Dental surgeon as a father and a school
teacher for a mother. So he grew up with highly educated parents and this showed
throughout his school life and musical career. Now unlike many he hadn t been
introduced into music off the start essentially, but at the age of 13 his father
introduced him to an instrument he would learn to love and cherish throughout his
musical career.
Upon being introduced to the trumpet his father asked for some help from a dear
friend of his Elwood Buchanan A well known director of a musical arts school. But
unlike every other musical director Elwood had encouraged Miles Davis to not use
vibrato when playing the trumpet unlike other artists of the time. This gave Miles a
whole new and unique sound. By the age of 17 Miles was ... Show more content on

Globalizatons and Cherokees
Globalization has caused extreme change on the Cherokee ways of life, institutions,
customs and traditions. The Cherokee people are incorporating more and more of
their past traditions in to their institutions way of life in a means of trying to
preserve them in this every changing world. Once a culture of people that held high
their beliefs and way of life was nearly an extinct culture after the European, and
colonization forced these people out of their land. It is important to see look at the
affects that globalization has on the Cherokeepeople because looking at this we can
see how globalization affects human dignity both in a positive manner and in a
negative manner.
The education institutions that are on the boundary give the Cherokee children the
right to self fulfillment; it does this by providing them with the right education to
go to college or so on if they wish. The school has incorporated ideas from all over
to make sure that their children have the best possible education that they can get to
survive and thrive in the modern world today. Our culture has played a huge impact
on how they view technology. Our culture is constantly obsessing over the newest
and greatest technology, because of this there are tons of jobs in this field. The
Cherokee schools teach children as early as elementary school how to work with
different technology to give them a head start in the culture that surrounds them so
that they can keep at a solid pace with us.

During the 15th century, there were five kingdoms in the Iberian Peninsula, but
eventually became two by the early 16th century. Since the 12th century, Portugal
had been an independent kingdom; the turning point in the kingdom was in the 15th
century when Isabella of Castile tied the knot with Ferdinand of Aragon and
resulted in uniting Castile and Aragon. Isabella and Ferdinand s first target was
Granada; the only Islamic state left from the once powerful Al Andalus. This step
was a necessary for consolidating their power and for religious uniformity. By 1492,
Granada was under their control; their objective was to have a kingdom with only
Christians. They gave the Jews four months to accept Christianity and if they did not

Discoveries can stimulate change and have meaningful impact on how one s sense

Home burial focuses on a rural husband and wife and examines their reaction to a
sudden, unexpected discovery, namely the death of their infant child. While the
wife undergoes profound personal change, supporting the previous two
paragraphs, the husband, a pragmatic farmer used to death, experiences no change.
The husband s lack of reaction to the death is evident in the line Three foggy
mornings and one rainy day will rot the best birch fence that a man can build
which is significant at those are his first words after finishing his own child s
burial. This trivialisation of this confronting discoveries establishes the sheer lack of
impact that it had on the husband. Further evidence can be seen in the divide that
emerges between the husband and wife after the child s death. The poem starts out
with the two separated, with the husband Advancing toward her to cross both the
physical and emotional divide between them; however, the wife soon Withdrew and
restored the divide. This divide emerges as the wife, who experiences great change,
is pushed far away while the husband remains stationary and unaffected. The
discovery has so little effect on the man due to his experiences as a farmer which
have likely accustomed him to death. Discoveries differ vastly between people due
their unique experiences, and as shown
Ap Music History
Evolution of the CD After a couple of failed attempts of making a device that
could be used for mass sharing of music in the late 1800s, an immigrant from
Germany had finally come up with an idea that would change everything.
Chichester Bell (Alexander Graham Bell s cousin) and Thomas Edison s idea to
record sounds on round cylinders was a good idea except for the sound quality and
general effort that was required to make and replicate sound. The Phonograph was
one of the earliest attempts at recording devices. Thomas A. Edison wanted to create
this device in order to assist with business interactions. He originally used foil to
record sounds, but this wasn t the best medium. You could only play sounds once and
the quality wasn t the greatest. This is when wax cylinders came into play. It was
eventually decided that the wax cylinder wasn t strong enough to record something
permanently. Next followed the graphophone. This invention by Bell fixed the replay
problem, but mass production of musicwould ve been impossible because of the
sheer amount of work involved in recording each cylinder separately (Bells).... Show

His gramophone didn t record on cylinders. This was the creation of the record.
The first records were made of blackened glass but after some trials Berliner
arrived at the idea of zinc. The disc would be covered in a mixture of cold gas and
beeswax before the grooves were etched into the surface. These zinc records were
eventually replaced with plastic. The earliest gramophone had to be cranked by
hand in order for it to work but the use of spring motors changed that. This model

Rhetorical Analysis Of D Day And Ve Day During World
War II
POLITICAL TELEVISION ADS
1952
The presidential nominee for the Republican Party was Eisenhower, while for the
Democrats, it was Adlai Stevenson. Eisenhower s ads focused on Eisenhower as
the general who lead American troops to victory in D Day and VE Day during
World War II. Stevenson s messages focused on civil liberty and equality for all
Americans regardless of race, class or any other demographic. An advertisement for
Stevenson featuring a female singer singing a song that portrayed Stevenson as the
governor who is loved by everyone. The trend for Eisenhower s commercials
campaign was to portray him as a plain speaking man who is in touch with the
American people. His ads focused mainly on three issues that most Americans had
questions about, the Korean War, corruption in government, and the high cost of
living. Stevenson was no match for the most liked American at the time according to
a poll.

The presidential nominee for the Republican Party was Richard Nixon, while the
Democrats nominated John F. Kennedy. Kennedy spoke about making the

process as long as you take the time to do it right. One of the first steps is to
determine whether the barrel has a pinned and welded muzzle brake. With the laws
set if you have a barrel shorter than sixteen inches then the muzzle break must be

Ronald Reagan s Mending Wall
Intro: Tear down the walls! Ronald Reagan s Tear Down This Wall and Robert
Frost s Mending Wall both talk about how walls separate people from each other,
but they talk about different walls and different ideas. Those walls create a physical,
as well as a mental barrier for the narrator and neighbor in Robert Frosts Mending
Walls and Ronald Reagan s Tear Down This Wall that hinders the characters from
relating to each other in a certain way. Although the style and tone of these two
authors are very similar, they are speaking of two different things. Ronald Reagan
and Robert Frost share many points in their papers.
Both Reagan and Frost speak of the theme of seperation. In Frost s text the wall is
seperating neighbors. Nature does not approve of this intrusion because it tries to
bring the wall down every winter. This stone wall is more than just a common wall;
it is a stone symbol that represents that the neighbors are being affected physically
and emotionally by this wall. On the other hand, Reagan s text is about the Berlin
Wall seperating East Berlin and West Berlin. That famed... Show more content on

In Frost s text the wall causes the narrator and the neighbor to work together for a
goal that only one of them wishes to achieve. As nature is tearing the wall apart
every winter, it is up to the narrator and his neighbor to repair the wall. Although
the narrator abhors the wall, he is still willing to wear his fingers down to help his
neighbor. The Berlin Wall in Reagan s text is a physical and mental obstacle as
well. If someone was to cross the wall they would physically be killed, which would
cause family and friends of that lost one to face and emotional obstacle. Not only
does the Berlin Wall create physical and emotional turmoil, it also divided the
economy and government of those two countries. The tones and styles it Reagan and
Frost both are about the same theme:

Avoiding Key Health Mistakes and Risks
Part of getting older is having a deeper understanding of how our health is changing

We often miss just how stressful this can be, but in truth it s one of the most stressful
experiences you can imagine. Stress drives us to continue bad habits, so it s vital that
you find healthy ways to manage your stress (through yoga, meditation, and making
time for yourself) instead of turning to smoking, fatty foods, and alcohol.
Lack of Sleep
Sleep is another thing our body desperately needs, and we dismiss. Sure, you can
sleep when you re dead, but you ll probably die much sooner if you don t start
taking it seriously. Aim for at least seven hours every night. You ll notice the
difference, too, you ll find your stress levels lowering and it will become easier to
make the right dietary choices, too. With a reduction in cortisol levels you won t feel
as driven to gorge yourself on unhealthy goods.
Too Much Sitting
Long stretches of sitting aren t good for anyone, so in addition to your 30 minutes of
daily exercise make sure you interrupt your sitting with a short walk or even just
some stretches. This can help fight heart disease, obesity, depression, osteoporosis,
and even cancer.
Smoking Alcohol
We often underestimate the effects that our vices have on our overall health.
Smoking doesn t just affect your lungs or increase your risk factor for cancer it also
ages you prematurely, affects your appetite, ruins your teeth, and affects your bones.

Summary Of The House Of The Spirits
After Blanca, who has harbored Pedro Tercero in the house for months, asks her
father to help Pedro Tercero flee the country, Esteban agrees and goes to retrieve
him from his cell like surroundings. This dialogue comes from that scene, and it
mirrors the conversation between Esteban and Pedro when Pedro Tercero frees
Esteban from the workers at Tres MarГas. In both situations, one man is imprisoned
and the other rescues him at Blanca s request. However, when Pedro Tercero
retrieved Esteban, Esteban was furious, and his line go to hell was uttered from a
place of anger and loathing. Now, miraculously, the two are able to smile when
recalling their old, destructive relationship, marred even by a murder attempt. This
scene brings the connection of the two men, which revolved around Blanca and
their differing political ideologies, to a state without rage or hate. A pivotal moment
in Esteban s development, the exchange marks an end to the cycle of Esteban s fury
and hatred of Pedro Tercero. Similarly, in the epilogue, Alba explains that it is her
mission to end the cycle of hatred and revenge that has plagued the Trueba family.
The latter part of The House of the Spirits centers around enmity and violence. In the
midst of this devastation, however, the conclusion of the animosity between Esteban
and Pedro Tercero and Alba s refusal to enter the cycle of revenge stand as instances
that warrant hopefulness for the future. If even Esteban s legendary rage can fade
with time, then
Langston Hughes s Poem, Negro Speaks Of Rivers
In Langston Hughes inspirational poem, Negro Speaks of Rivers, he expresses, My
soul has grown as deep like the rivers, (lines 4 and 13), describing how his
encounters with racial intolerance have made him stronger as a person in both
spiritual and emotional ways; rather than to just step down and submit to the cruelty
of racism. The quote could also be interpreted as a sign of perseverance and hope
for people who have experienced not only racial injustice, but other forms of
degradation in society, both past and present. Langston Hughes uses rivers in his
poem as an interpretation of life. At the moment Langston Hughes was inspired to
write this poem, he was looking out the window in the train in which he was
travelling. On his trip, the train was going across the Mississippi River during
sunset he witnessed the magnificence and beauty of nature. This was enough to
remind him of hope and all things positive, along with the motivation he needed to
compose the poem. I believe the author repeated the use of the word river because
it is symbolic. Rivers continue on the path they go; they never stop flowing forward
regardless of the circumstances. That is what Langston Hughes wanted the audience
to know, and himself as well. Everyone can look forward to a brighter tomorrow
even if there is something that holds them back. When everything seems like it is all
lost, the only last resort we have is hope. That is the key theme of the entire poem,
hope is strength and that
Macbeth Ambition
English Assignment Term 3
Representations of ambition within Macbeth
Within Macbeth, there are numerous representations of human values and conflicts,
including duty vs. desire, the effects of a guilty conscience on the human journey and
the differences between genders, and the superiority of men within the play, and the
modern era. The value foregrounded throughout this text is the representations of
ambition within the play Macbeth, and we will be focusing on the protagonist of the
story, ironically named Macbeth.
The effect of ambition can be a double edged sword. Ambition can provide a person
with desire, so that they can accomplish goals, and give them a kick start towards
them. On the other hand, however, ambition can ... Show more content on

Once he murders the King Duncan, he knows that he must prolong his undeserved
spot as King, as the repercussions will be that of the actions that he have committed.
This is due to the Chain of Being, which he has distinctly broken. Once this
hypothetical chain is broken, which by the way, represents the natural order, the
universe will be plundered into chaos, and righting the wrong will retain the natural
order.
Throughout the ending of the play, when Duncan s sons plot to overthrow Macbeth,
he accepts his fate, and the apparitions stated by the three witches during their second
meeting with Macbeth come to fruition. He knows of his imminent downfall, and
within his final moments of life, he accepts defeat.
I will not yield to kiss the ground before young Malcolm s feet, and to be baited
with the rabble s curse. Though Birnam Wood be come to Dunsinane, and thou
opposed, being of no woman born, yet I will try the last. Before my body I throw
my warlike shield. Lay on, Macduff; and damned be him that first cries, Hold,
enough!
This scene marks the promised demise of Macbeth, and good once again
conquering evil. His ambitions overall lead to his demise, and if he had either
followed his orders from the King, who is a higher being on the Chain of Being , or
gained the royal, majestic position through an accepted process, then his death would
not have been sentenced and
A Brief Biography of Ted Bundy
Terror shocked the United States during the 1970s. More and more women students
suddenly vanished. During a search for the serial killer, investigators could not seem
to find a link to the person doing all these terrible acts. The similarities of the victims
showed that someone smart was behind these events. However, when he was caught,
America learned that not every serial killerfits a certain profile. Ted Bundy, a man
known to many as very smart and interesting, spread his terror throughout the United
States by targeting and murdering young women; using the process perspective, it
was determined that his confusing and horrible upbringing as a youth influenced his
future behavior as a mass murderer. He became one of America s most... Show more

He once didn t know what made people want to be friends with him. He would look
at his family situations and the way they handled things and thought maybe
aggression was a way to solve problems. Lifestyle theory could also play a part in
teds adventure as a serial killer because he didn t really have a functional relationship
with his family members besides his grandparents. He couldn t really be with them
the way he wanted to due to constant moving around. Although people liked Ted and
didn t see anything out of the norm with him he was actually never really normal
mentally due to the lifestyle and upbringing he had.
Ted Bundy is classified as a serial killer. Over a span of three years, Bundy took the
lives of a countless number of people; a number that Bundy has taken to his grave.
Various Bundy experts believe he may have started his killings in his early teenage
life. While he was a teen a twelve year old neighbor disappeared from her house and
it was suspected that Bundy was the cause
Tedd first victim was 18 year old Joni Lenz. Joni was a student at the University of
Washington. While Joni was asleep, Bundy entered her home and beat her with a
crowbar. Bundy then removed a bed rod from janays bed and rammed it into her
vagina. Joni was found lying in a pool of blood suffering from a coma. She was
rushed to the hospital in a Comatose State. Joni survived the
American Push For Independence Essay
Divided Thoughts on Independence
The British colonies of North America took their beginnings in the early part of the
sixteen hundreds. At that time Virginia and New England became the first regions
to be settled by the English. It was the birth of America as a whole, but it also was
the beginnings of two distinct ways of life. The colonies were founded on
Independence, but from the start there were two completely different ideas of what
that Independence was and what it would mean over time.
This paper will examine the two conceptions of Independence to the Virginian and to
the New Englander. Using primary documents of the time it will explain how each
idea changed over time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rich lived a life based on status and socializing. They owned land and had
slaves to work their property. That was the attainable sought after lifestyle of
Virginia colonists. The poor farmers hoped to one day reach that kind of lifestyle. It
would become the Southern way. William Byrd wrote in his secret diary,
amp;#8220;[January] 17. [1712 ] I rose about 7 o amp;#8217;clock and read a
chapter in Hebrew and some Greek in Lucian. I said my prayers and ate boiled milk
for breakfast. I danced my dance. When I got up I thought to ride to Falling Creek
but the weather threatened snow and the wind northeast, which discouraged me from
my journey. About 12 o amp;#8217;clock I went to see John and Tom plant the peach
orchard where I stayed till dinner was ready amp;#8230;.I stayed there a little time
and then went to take a walk about the plantation to examine what the rest had done
and was contented with the overseer amp;#8217;s management amp;#8230;.I said my
prayers and had good health, good thoughts, and good humor, thank God Almighty. ;
This passage is a perfect example of what a Virginian would want in independence.
To live a life of status, spend a day not doing work, but reading, socializing, and
briefly looking over his business affairs. It was what Virginians believed in. To be
independent in Virginia was to be an aristocratic land and

How Do Ships Shape The New World
For over 100 years now ships have been responsible for traveling, trading goods and
fishing, which have all contributed to other countries economies and culture. Through
the trading of good it has helped countries economically, as well as it has allowed

Analysis Of The Film Cold Mountain
The movie Cold Mountain has many talking points; I will be going over a few of
them in this paper. I will first be going over desertion and the effect it had on the
Confederate side during the Civil War. Desertion played a huge role is the war,
even more than I originally thought. Then, I will be diving into how the Civil War
affected family life, as the men went off to fight, leaving the woman and kids at
home take care of the homes. Lastly I will be arguing how the film Cold Mountain
is a pretty historically accurate film, using great detail with the props and storyline,
to fully immerse viewers to life in the 1860s. Desertion during the Civil War plagued
both sides, but was detrimental to the weaker South. In Cold Mountain, Inman, who
was a Confederate Soldier, deserts the army after being shot in the neck during a
skirmish with the North. His goal was to get home to Ada, a woman from Cold
Mountain who was waiting for his return. This kind of abandonment was not
uncommon during the lengthy war, with around 10 to 15 percent of Confederate
Soldiers deserting throughout the war. The 44th Virginia Regiment had the highest
desertion rate during the war of, nearly 30 percent. Many things caused this, such as:
faulty equipment, spoiled food, and unresponsive leadership. Many of the Soldiers
were not happy with the Confederate governments polices, but did not come right out
and say it. The Conscription Act, which required all males between 18 and 35 to
serve in the
Media Violence Effects on Society
Media Violence: Effects on society
Millions of teens have seen the 1996 movie Scream...Scream opens with a scene in
which a teenage girl is forced to watch her jock boyfriend tortured and then
disemboweled by two fellow students who, it will eventually be learned, want
revenge on anyone from high school who crossed them. After jock boy s stomach
is shown cut open and he dies screaming, the killers stab and torture the girl, then
cut her throat and hang her body from a tree so that Mom can discover it when she
drives up. A dozen students and teachers are graphically butchered in the film, while
the characters make running jokes about murder. At one point, a boy tells a big
breasted friend she d better be careful because the stacked girls ... Show more content

First, it is important to consider that there are almost an unlimited number of other
factors that can influence ones behavior. The reason an individual will commit a
violent act is based on millions of past experiences, memories, and actions. We know
that media can affect behavior but how much is still unknown.
In a closed off lab environment we can study how much media violence effects
behavior. The strength of the correlation between media violence and aggressive
behavior found on meta analysis (in the lab) is greater than the correlation between
that of tobacco smoke and lung cancer. (Bar on) So, when everything else is taken
away we can see that there is a definite correlation between violence in the media
and violent behavior. The reason for this is that people imitate what they see on TV.
This is especially true for children.
Media does affect behavior. The problem is that we don t know how much because
there are so many factors. Studies have been done but there is a lot of inconclusive
research.
Links to Society We know that violent media is very popular and a lot of people
are exposed to it, also we know that in closed conditions it causes violent behavior.
The real question is does violent media cause violence in society. Violent media s
effect on society is hard to fully understand. The first clue we have is the statistics.
Take for example video violence and actual violence

How To Write An Essay Proposal Example

  • 1. How To Write An Essay Proposal Example Writing an essay on the topic "How To Write An Essay Proposal Example" can be a challenging task that requires a thoughtful and systematic approach. First and foremost, you need to have a clear understanding of what a proposal is and how it differs from a standard essay. Crafting a proposal involves outlining the key points, establishing the purpose, and presenting a structured plan for the essay. One of the difficulties lies in the need for comprehensive research to provide a solid foundation for your proposal. You must delve into the subject matter to gather relevant information, examples, and evidence to support your argument. This process can be time-consuming, demanding a careful balance between depth and brevity to convey your message effectively. Another challenge is the art of concise and persuasive writing. A proposal should be clear and compelling, outlining the purpose of your essay and how you intend to address it. Striking the right balance between being informative and engaging while maintaining a formal tone can be intricate. Structuring your essay proposal also poses a difficulty. It requires a coherent organization of ideas, a logical flow, and a well-defined introduction, body, and conclusion. Achieving this structure demands careful planning and consideration of each element's placement to ensure a seamless progression of thoughts. Moreover, adapting your writing style to the specific requirements of an essay proposal can be tricky. It involves adhering to any guidelines provided by the assignment while expressing your unique voice and perspective. • 2. Issues with Athletes’ Salaries and How to Change Them Professional sports were beginning to be organized in the 1850s. At this point, their salaries, although they were still higher than the average person s, were not too outrageous. In the 1880s and 90s, baseball players in particular were making on average about $1,750 annually. Even though this was three times the salary of an industrial worker of the time, they were not happy with this amount of money and felt they should be earning more (Baseball n.d.). In the 1970s, the worlds of professional sportstook a drastic turn. According to an article by J.L. Carnagie, Two words described sports in the 1970s: big business. Owners and athletes in major professional team sports knew there was money to be made in their games, and they went... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to a study done by American Demographics magazine in April of 1996, the number of adults making $20,000 to $29,000 annually who attended sporting events dropped from 11% in 1985 to 8% in 1995. This shows how exclusive sporting events are becoming due to increasing prices. The attendance rates of people in lower income brackets dropped, while the rates of people in higher income brackets did not change much (Professional Sports Salaries, n.d.) Lastly, but most importantly is the affect that athletes salaries have on children and teenagers. Many people fear that the illusion given off by the professional sports industry is detrimental to children and teenagers who are trying to decide what they should do with their lives. Young people read about professional athletes and hear about them on the news and from people around them all the time. They realize the kind of money they make and that sounds like a great lifestyle to them. What many kids do not realize is the very minute chance they have of actually playing a sport professionally. Only about 1% of high school athletes go on to play in college. And from those college athletes only about 1% go on the play professionally. So the chances of becoming a professional athlete are about 1 in 10,000 or 0.01% for high school athletes and in 1997, 66% of seventh and eighth grade boys expected to play professional sports as their career (Professional Sports Salaries). Not only do children
  • 3. Essay on Comparison of Pope and Swift Alexander Pope and Jonathan Swift in their respective poems, The Rape of the Lock and The Progress of Beauty, offer opposite representations of the nature and function of cosmetics in eighteenth century society. In The Rape of the Lock, Pope gives a positive representation of cosmetic s nature and function in eighteenth century society. On the other hand, Swift s representation takes a very negative tone. Both poets clearly appreciate and admire the natural beauty of a woman and their opposite opinions and therefore representation of the nature and function of cosmetics, springs from this admiration. Pope, whilst slightly ridiculing cosmetics through his use of satire, represents cosmetics in a positive light through portraying it as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However the satire is predominately light hearted, indicating Pope s optimistic and light hearted feelings towards the use of cosmetics in eighteenth century society. The satire Pope uses on cosmetics does not put a negative tone on the use of cosmetics, but rather puts into question Belinda s, and therefore other women s priorities. In Pope s poem, a bible as such belongs with puffs and patches. Keener s point in writing this is that Pope, by throwing in something as important as the bible with things as futile as puffs and powders and patches, is satirizing Belinda s priorities; for Belinda, religion is just as important as her appearance. Pope does not represent cosmetics as having a negative nature through his satire, but rather shows the futility of women caring as much about their appearance as they do about God. This is the only real satire Pope uses in relation to the use of cosmetics. It may be argued that Pope is using this to show the negative function of cosmetics in eighteenth century society in that it distracts women from God. However, vanity is something that can exist with or without the presence of cosmetics. Even in Eden, Eve was distracted by her own beauty, giving in to vanity. Therefore it would be fair to argue that this being the only presence of satire of cosmetics in The Rape of the Lock, Pope maintains his representation of the nature and

A Survey On The Creek Geological History Kevin Wright GEOL 204 Dr. Miller June 8th, 2015 Caliente Creek Geological History 1.At the beginning of the Tertiary, there is a layer of andesite breccia a fast cooling extrusive rock that has not traveled far from its original deposition. This indicates a volcanic depositional environment. This formation was then intruded by intrusive slower cooling rocks that create a noncomformity between it and the Walker formation. The tuff breccia in the Walker formation is consistent with the same depositional environment as the andesite breccia formation as they are both extrusive rocks. It is possible that there was an eruption from a volcano that deposited the highly viscous andesite rocks followed by slower falling ash, which was then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Freeman Jewett shale formation is a strong indicator of a low energy/quiet depositional environment. It is likely this layer was originally deposited offshore in a marine environment. This is further supported by the following Bena Gravel formation, which is emblematic of a transitional beach type environment with pebble size sand and gravel. This coarser layer of sand and gravel overlying the silty and sandy shale could be evidence for a regressive cycle and receding sea levels. The Bena Gravel formation is eroded by Kern River Gravel which creates a disconformity in the stratigraphy. The Kern River Gravel has stream like deposits but since it cuts through the Bena Gravel Formation it is suggestive the Kern River Gravel formation has a delta depositional environment. The Terrace formation suggests a stream depositional environment. If terracing is present, it indicates a decrease in discharge over time. The next formation, Alluvium, is evidence of an alluvial fan deposition, a glacial deposition that has been reworked by meltwater, or of a dried lake bed. (Levin p.86). Regardless of which, the Alluvium formation gives away easily to mass wasting to from the landslide formation. Most alluvial fan deposits occur near the margins of the depositional basin because they occur in low areas at the base of the Temblor formation or Sierra Nevada s. The marine deposits, beach

Their models have exerted an evolution that endured through the years. They inspired development in the areas political, economic and military forces. Their lasting empires have provided an influence on civilization that is still seen today. Societies under both empires had a lot alike and differences. Both Empires were alike in that both started out with them being city states. Also, their religious beliefs were quite the same. They did not believe in One God with all the control and authority. They felt that they were quite a few gods and goddesses. The names of the gods and goddesses did differ due to their different languages (Jenkins, P, 2009). They both believed... They influenced those surrounding them including the Romans through their ways of commerce, social behavior, and colonizing ways along the coast and other nearby seaside Regions. In contrast, the Romans build a vast centralized state. Their Empire consisted of most of Northern Africa and Europe. A close knit management and the way their trade was organized and processed inspired the development of the way people accomplished ideas, moved goods, and people traveled. Their methods would down the road influence their neighbors in Europe, Southwest Asia, and Mediterranean cultures. Greek nation altered from lords to totalitarian, supremacist, warrior society in Sparta and the immediate popular government of Athens, while the Roman Empire rulers offered route to an agent, choosing republic until it was dislodged by the energy of Emperor rulers. • 6. China s Rule Under Legalism And Launching A Military... From 600 BCE to 600 CE, China experienced changes in its political system in terms of the dissimilar ruling styles of different leaders, the rule under Legalism, and the influence of philosophical thinking like Daoism. These changes, influenced by aspects of the world and its own region, shaped China into its Classical state. In contrast, the concept of the Mandate of Heaven, the civil service system, and the significance of unity through a strong central government remained constant throughout Chinas Classical period. These continuities followed through, staying essentially the same as an important part of China s identity. From warring states to an empire, China experienced a drastic change in restoring the civilization through different dynasties and rulers. The unity China wanted was non existent during the age of the warring states as there were rivalries between the seven competing kingdoms. Shihuangdi of the state of Qin tried to reunify China through Legalism and launching a military campaign. After the collapse of Shihuangdi s brutal policies, China switched over to the milder and moralistic rule of the Han dynastythat followed. To try and restore China into something great, the people underwent changes to find a solution that would end the disorder. Likewise, Rome also experienced a change in its civilization from city state to empire through its way of ruling. Although each civilization targeted a different way to build up their empire, both China and Rome

Lizzie Borden Murder The Murders in Fall River On August 4, 1892 at 92 Second Street in Fall River Massachusetts, stepmom Abby and father, Andrew Borden were slaughtered by an axe in their home ( The Trial of Lizzie Borden ). Lizzie s biological mother died in 1862, and her father Andrew remarried the spinstress, Abby Durfee Gray. Since it was a stepmother to be murdered, it raised the question as to if Lizzie really liked her stepmother. Abby s body was in the guest room, murdered an hour before Andrew, who was on a sofa. Three days later, on August 9th, Lizzie started to be questioned in the courtroom over police headquarters. During the first four hours of the examination Lizzie gave confusing and contradicting information pertaining to where she was and what she was doing. Two days later, on August 11th, Lizzie was read her rights and arrested by Chief Hillard for the murder of her parents. The following day Lizzie made a plea of not guilty to the charges against her before being transported by rail car to a jail located in Taunton, an area located eight miles from Fall River. August 22nd Lizzie was returned to the Fall River courtroom for her preliminary hearing, after a criminal complaint has been filed by the prosecutor, next is to determine whether there is enough evidence to require a trial. At the end of the hearing, Judge Josiah Blaisdell pronounced Lizzie as probably guilty and ordered her to face a grand jury. From November 15th to the 21st Lizzie faced the grand jury to plead not guilty. It wasn t until December first, that a testimony was made against Lizzie by a friend of the families. Alex Russell appeared before the grand jury to make his statement about the blue dress he saw Lizzie burn. Lizzie responded with the fact that the dress was covered in old paint. The question then is, why was she burning it the day of the murders? The statement from Russell matched with an earlier testimony made by Bridget, she claimed Lizzie was wearing a blue dress the morning of the murders. Since both testimonies matched, it was enough evidence to convince the jury to indict, formally accuse of or charge with a serious crime, Lizzie for the murder of her parents. On June 5th, 1893 Andrew Jennings and George Robinson represented the defendant while Knowlton and Thomas Moody argued the case of the prosecution. Moody opened the case with a two hour long speech while

DIFINATION OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND ITS ORGANISATION In order to understand a concept take it bit by bit, therefore before understanding public administration (PAD), administration has to be understood first. According to Heywood (2002:363)administration generally means the task of coordinating and executing policies, it implies assisting or serving others. All civil servants are involved in administration. He goes on to say Public Administration refers to the mechanisms and institutions through which public policies are put into effect. Also according to McLean (2009:440) PAD denotes the institutions of public bureaucracy within a state this is the organisational structures which form the basis of public decision making and implementation and the arrangement by which public service are delivered. So to my understanding Public Administration is all about the civil servants
  • 12. The Death Of The Doctor As I stood there watching my mother cry, I couldn t seem to fathom how death could cause someone who was here yesterday to disappear today. My mother and I witnessed my thirty three year old aunt whither away from ovarian cancer. A death that was avoidable had she had better access to healthcare for early diagnosis. My aunt s cancer never received treatment and progressed until there was nothing left in her pelvic cavity. It ignited a spark; a spark to search for answers. A spark that grew brighter as I grew up and which inspires me to treating cancer and other similarly vicious diseases. I grew up on a small island where the doctor was seen as someone who would kill you from malpractice or carelessness. In reality people would not go to the doctor until they were extremely sick and usually there was nothing the doctor could do. There was great fear surrounding the doctor and it contributed to many family members suffering needlessly. But after my aunt died, I wanted to believe something different. I refused to accept that nothing could be done. When my father got a job opportunity in America, my mother and I decided to push the idea of moving to escape because of the abuse we had endured from him. We knew in America we would have resources to escape, which we didn t have in the Caribbean. I then decided if I moved to the United States I would become a physician. To gain firsthand experience I volunteered at a pain management clinic where I soon learned that each person

(Eg. sale promotion, public relations, general advertising and direct response.) Integrated marketing communication could be use to create, maintain and develope the customer relationship for those target audiences who most likely to contribute a long term profit, for example loyal consumers, governments, regulatory agencies and investors. Effective Integrated Marketing communication could nurture a stong customer relationships, but it require a careful planning to an integrated communication program. Throughout this course we discussed the Jazz Age, cultural appropriation, racial and gender differences, and African Americans and Parisians during the interwar years. We looked at many African American performers and performances that had a huge impact on France s cultural identity. After learning about all of this in class, I wanted to take my research further. I decided to research female foreign performers who have had a major influence on the JazzAge in Paris. I decided to focus specifically on three foreign females, and they are: singer and dancer Josephine Baker, dancer Molly Spotted Elk, and dancer Ada Bricktop Smith. Each of these female performers had a large impact on taking the Jazz Agein Paris to another level. African Americans were responsible for bringing jazz music to Europe. Due to the fact that the people in Paris were far more excepting of colored people, many African Americansinger and dancers made their way to Paris to start their careers and a make a name for themselves. There are few cities in the world that are more associated with jazz than Paris (Pelzer). Most of the time, African American s in Paris were just looked at by Parisians as entertainers (Stovall). These African American were objects of Parisian curiosity and fantasy, and the audiences were very much intrigued by the exoticism that went into so many performances. • 18. A Tale of Sin and Atonement Essay The Beautiful Vampire A tale of sin and atonement? In Theophile Gautier s The Beautiful Vampire, he is very subtle in presenting the sins committed. Although all of the characters in this story commit various sins, the sins of Romuald are the sins primarily focused on. This sinning of Romauld is very unique in that he is a ordained priest who should be one of the last people to commit these sins. It is this reason that makes the story what it is and draws the readers in initially. The first sin that the reader witnesses is during Romauld s ordainment ceremony. Instead of keeping his head bowed, as one should during prayer, he raises his head and spots the beautiful Clarimonde (Gautier 231). If Romauld would have stayed ... He does not realize that it is actually evil enticing him just as eve did not realize that the serpent was an evil being. Romauld s lusting for Clarimonde becomes more evident when he is taken to be with her dead body (244). This lusting over a dead body is very disturbing to many readers for two different reasons. The first of these reasons is the fact that a celibate priest is having these sexual attractions towards a woman. A priest, one of the holiest men of God should be able to control his ungodly desires if anyone can. The second reason for this disturbance is the face that he is lusting over the body of a dead woman. Although we find out later that she has been dead all along, not just in her chamber, the idea of necrophilia is a very disturbing concept to most people. After she is found not to be dead, Romauld continuously wonders what would have happened if he was not a priest. Would they be lovers? Would they be married? Or would they even be together at all? This questioning of his life s choices is very similar his previous thoughts of renouncing God and these thoughts appear to continue to arise throughout the story which makes the reader wonder if this many is even holy at all. Later in the story, Romauld mentions how he is able to

David suggests give the print powder jar a quick shake before opening the lid then goes on to say remove the lid and place the fingerprint brush inside the lid (Spraggs, 2007). The lid will retain enough powder to start processing the latent print. A precise amount of pressure applied while spinning the brush will produce a good print with good ridge detail. He mentions that too much powder will fill the ridges and over process the print and too little will not produce enough, keeping in mind that too much contact between the brush and the print will damage the print. Once the print has been developed it is time to begin lifting the print. Lifting tape comes in a variety of widths and compositions. Similarly, in the epilogue, Alba explains that it is her mission to end the cycle of hatred and revenge that has plagued the Trueba family. The latter part of The House of the Spirits centers around enmity and violence. In the midst of this devastation, however, the conclusion of the animosity between Esteban and Pedro Tercero and Alba s refusal to enter the cycle of revenge stand as instances that warrant hopefulness for the future. If even Esteban s legendary rage can fade with time, then
  • 42. Langston Hughes s Poem, Negro Speaks Of Rivers In Langston Hughes inspirational poem, Negro Speaks of Rivers, he expresses, My soul has grown as deep like the rivers, (lines 4 and 13), describing how his encounters with racial intolerance have made him stronger as a person in both spiritual and emotional ways; rather than to just step down and submit to the cruelty of racism. The quote could also be interpreted as a sign of perseverance and hope for people who have experienced not only racial injustice, but other forms of degradation in society, both past and present. Langston Hughes uses rivers in his poem as an interpretation of life. At the moment Langston Hughes was inspired to write this poem, he was looking out the window in the train in which he was travelling. On his trip, the train was going across the Mississippi River during sunset he witnessed the magnificence and beauty of nature. This was enough to remind him of hope and all things positive, along with the motivation he needed to compose the poem. I believe the author repeated the use of the word river because it is symbolic. Rivers continue on the path they go; they never stop flowing forward regardless of the circumstances. That is what Langston Hughes wanted the audience to know, and himself as well. Everyone can look forward to a brighter tomorrow even if there is something that holds them back. When everything seems like it is all lost, the only last resort we have is hope. That is the key theme of the entire poem, hope is strength and that

This is due to the Chain of Being, which he has distinctly broken. Once this hypothetical chain is broken, which by the way, represents the natural order, the universe will be plundered into chaos, and righting the wrong will retain the natural order. Throughout the ending of the play, when Duncan s sons plot to overthrow Macbeth, he accepts his fate, and the apparitions stated by the three witches during their second meeting with Macbeth come to fruition. Lay on, Macduff; and damned be him that first cries, Hold, enough! This scene marks the promised demise of Macbeth, and good once again conquering evil. His ambitions overall lead to his demise, and if he had either followed his orders from the King, who is a higher being on the Chain of Being , or gained the royal, majestic position through an accepted process, then his death would not have been sentenced and

At that time Virginia and New England became the first regions to be settled by the English. It was the birth of America as a whole, but it also was the beginnings of two distinct ways of life. The colonies were founded on Independence, but from the start there were two completely different ideas of what that Independence was and what it would mean over time. • 48. Analysis Of The Film Cold Mountain The movie Cold Mountain has many talking points; I will be going over a few of them in this paper. I will first be going over desertion and the effect it had on the Confederate side during the Civil War. Desertion played a huge role is the war, even more than I originally thought. Then, I will be diving into how the Civil War affected family life, as the men went off to fight, leaving the woman and kids at home take care of the homes. Lastly I will be arguing how the film Cold Mountain is a pretty historically accurate film, using great detail with the props and storyline, to fully immerse viewers to life in the 1860s. Desertion during the Civil War plagued both sides, but was detrimental to the weaker South. In Cold Mountain, Inman, who was a Confederate Soldier, deserts the army after being shot in the neck during a skirmish with the North. His goal was to get home to Ada, a woman from Cold Mountain who was waiting for his return. This kind of abandonment was not uncommon during the lengthy war, with around 10 to 15 percent of Confederate Soldiers deserting throughout the war. The 44th Virginia Regiment had the highest desertion rate during the war of, nearly 30 percent. Many things caused this, such as: faulty equipment, spoiled food, and unresponsive leadership. Many of the Soldiers were not happy with the Confederate governments polices, but did not come right out and say it. The Conscription Act, which required all males between 18 and 35 to serve in the

First, it is important to consider that there are almost an unlimited number of other factors that can influence ones behavior. The reason an individual will commit a violent act is based on millions of past experiences, memories, and actions. We know that media can affect behavior but how much is still unknown. In a closed off lab environment we can study how much media violence effects behavior. The strength of the correlation between media violence and aggressive behavior found on meta analysis (in the lab) is greater than the correlation between that of tobacco smoke and lung cancer. (Bar on) So, when everything else is taken away we can see that there is a definite correlation between violence in the media and violent behavior. The reason for this is that people imitate what they see on TV. This is especially true for children. Media does affect behavior. The problem is that we don t know how much because there are so many factors. Studies have been done but there is a lot of inconclusive research. Links to Society We know that violent media is very popular and a lot of people are exposed to it, also we know that in closed conditions it causes violent behavior. The real question is does violent media cause violence in society. Violent media s effect on society is hard to fully understand. The first clue we have is the statistics. Take for example video violence and actual violence
