To The Virgins, To Make Much Of Time By Robert Herrick
Little did I know at the age of fourteen as I laced up my basketball shoes the game I was about to
participate in would forever change my life. Nor did I realize that game would be the last time I would
ever step foot onto a basketball court. Even simple tasks such as walking would soon almost be
impossible to complete. Following the game I soon proceeded to have a multitude of knee surgeries
and numerous years of physical therapy. Looking back, if I would have grasped what was about to
happen, I would have absorbed every second. Through this experience I learned nothing is ever
guaranteed and that I must utilize the opportunities that have been laid in front of me. This is where I
became familiar with the term Carpe diem. After my injury I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the first poem a statement that is being implied is how slow he could love her with if time was not
an issue. The Ganges River is grimy and the rubies are absent. He would spend a lifetime searching
for these rubies, even though he would never discover any. A second example is his vegetable love
implies that his love is an unconscious growth. Another example is times winged chariot and it
represents that time is quickly creeping up on them. The implication is that life is short and those tasks
would be impossible with the transience of time. The second poem suggests that one day she could be
buoyant and then tomorrow death transpires. The next example is when he indicates once they have
reached the peak they are now on the verge of death. He uses these implications to try and persuade

Why Usa Based Abc Company
Considering that USA based ABC Company is planning to conduct clinical trials in ICH concern

The Nature Of Knowledge, Reality, Existence, And Academic...
For centuries now, philosophers from countries all over the world have dedicated their lives to the
study of the nature of knowledge, reality, existence, and academic discipline. These studies have taken
them places within their field that question their own existence, the existence of everyone and
everything around them, and even what is right and wrong in the world they live in. However, today s
philosophy is somewhat different than it once was in the age of Aristotle, Plato, and Descartes. One of
the more current and controversial questions that has been pondered by philosophers of the Twenty
and Twenty First Centuries is whether or not it is possible for artificial intelligence, such as phones,
laptops, or Smart TV s, to function like a human brain would. These days, we have the capability of
signaling somebody halfway across the world or finding out any piece of information within seconds.
Our treasured pieces of technology are kept near us at all times and it is a comfortable feeling
knowing that we have them around, even when there s no interaction with them. We treat and care
about our technology as if it were a friend. And despite the fact that technology often seems to have
the ability to communicate back to us, they do not actually think like a human would. Although
artificial intelligence is able to process information easily and quickly, it can not in fact properly
interpret, therefore it will never measure up to a human s capability of processing. It is

Outdated Themes Into The Mosaic Of The Romantic Period
Castles, Lords, and merry singing, how does Mary Robinson fit these seeming outdated themes into
the mosaic of the Romantic Period? The Poor Singing Dame is about an impoverished old woman
who lives a cheerful existence through singing despite the fact that many would consider her
circumstances miserable. A Lord of the nearby castle becomes overwhelmed with jealousy of the
woman s happiness and locks her in prison where she dies. He is haunted by his actions and soon dies
subsequently. Mary Robinson is an interesting addition to the list of prominent Romantic Period
writers. The structure of The Poor Singing Dame is interesting to compare to the structures that her
contemporaries use, yet she includes many of the popular themes of the time as well. The fantastic
rumors of Lord Byron s life cannot match the sensational reality of Mary Robinson s. Along with her
successful writing, she was an actress, fashion icon, and mistress of the Prince of Wales. Compared to
her contemporaries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The shape of the stanzas and the rhyming pattern may vaguely resemble the famous cantos of Lord
Byron. Those works of literature were modeled after classic Italian pieces. Although The Poor Singing
Dame honors the classics, critics have said Mary Robinson s writing possesses the new realism that
will impel English poetry into the nineteenth century (Norton 78). In The Poor Singing Dame, Mary
Robinson s voice seems negated from the narrative and in that sense bears resemblance John Keats.
However the singing old woman s happiness being ruined by a tyrannical Lord may be Mary
Robinson expressing some of her feelings after being deserted by the Prince of Wales. It is harder to
make a connection between John Keats life and some of his work, Lamia for example. Mary Robinson
s voice does not play an outstanding role in The Poor Singing Dame, because her themes take center

The Symbolism Of Another Brick In The Wall
Sean Leahy, an Australian cartoonist released a political cartoon Lazarus quits PUP to satirically
represent the departure of several members of the Palmer United Party, which was created and run by
Australian mining magnate Clive Palmer. The cartoon itself is a re creation of the nursery rhyme
Humpty Dumpty, in which he falls of a brick wall. Leahy s cartoon displays Humpty Dumpty as
Palmer, who is falling besides a deteriorating brick wall. Four specific bricks are of interest as three
have been displayed with the surnames Douglas, Judge and Lambie. The brick adjacent to Clive is
displayed with a face, singing, We don t need no thought control which is a lyric from Another Brick
in the Wall , a song created by Pink Floyd. The amalgamation ... Show more content on

A notable aspect of irony presented in the cartoon has been shown with the placement of the brick
wall. The characteristics of brick walls are strong, firm and robust which is ironic, as the wall in the
cartoon is shown curved and deteriorating. Another element of irony in the cartoon is the
representation of Palmer as Humpty as Humpty Dumpty is interpreted as a kind figure worthy of
assistance as the most known iteration of the rhyme states that all the king s horses and all the king s
men couldn t put humpty together again (Wikipedia, 2015). This is ironic as multiple reports state that
members of the PUP abandoned the party due to the mistreatment by Palmer. (theage, businessinsider,
2015) Within the cartoon, Leahy has provoked the thought of irony, while simultaneously displaying
parody. Parody, the final satirical device, has been deployed by Leahy to further ridicule the PUP. The
artwork is a parody of Humpty Dumpty. Having Palmer as Humpty falling off the brick wall has
represented the nursery rhyme. However in this iteration of Humpty Dumpty the brick wall is
crumbling with him, ridiculing the fact that most of his political party have separated to become
independent politicians, due to Palmers actions. Leahy in his cartoon has used parody to ridicule the

Notes On Roles And Statuses
Ashley Newlon | Sociology 1101 | Final Paper | Autumn 2015
Roles and Statuses
Since I have started studying sociology I have been able to constantly compare it to my life and how it
relates to the struggles I am currently facing. Out of all the chapters I have studied in this class this
semester, chapter five stuck with me the most. Chapter five focuses on social positions and our
interactions with other people along with the different types of statuses a person can behold or gain
and the roles that come along with them. I have learned about all of the different sets of statuses, for
example, the statuses one can achieve, the ones someone can be ascribed, and/or the master status that
someone can be known for most. With those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Achieved status is a status that is assigned to a person who works towards becoming that status. In my
life I have worked towards becoming a student at OSU Newark, becoming a friend to numerous
people, becoming a girlfriend, and becoming an employee at Dollar General. Ascribed status is a
status that people are born with such as for me in particular, I am born as a female, a daughter, a
granddaughter, a niece, a cousin, and a sister. Depending on the situation any of these statuses could
be considered my master status. At school my master status is student whereas at work my master
status is employee. With all these statuses come various roles. Roles are expected behaviors based on
your status. In my life I struggle with not only role strain but also role conflict. Role strain is when a
person has multiple roles that conflict with each other for a single status whereas role conflict is when
a person has multiple roles that conflict for multiple statuses. I have found that some of my expected
roles can make it very difficult to fulfil other expected roles. Such as, my role as a student consists of
attending classes, doing homework, and studying but, as an employee I am also expected to have open
availability, not to call off, and over all put work before anything else. Since I have become a student
it has been hard to find a way to make time for all of the things that are expected of me. Sociology has
given me the tools to decide how to handle conflicting situations and

The Life of Thomas Alva Edison
Thomas Edison was born in Ohio. He came from a poor family. As a child he had scarlet fever. That
caused him to almost lose all of his hearing. Around 11 years old he started asking a lot of questions.
His friends and family would never expect his great success to come. This research paper will tell you
all about it.
Thomas Edison was born on February 11, 1847. He was born in a town in Ohio, his home town was
Milan. He was one of the seven children in the house. His parents where Samuel and Nancy Edison.
His father was born in Canada. He was a politician in Canada. His mother was a great school teacher
and was the major influence in Edison s early life. He became sick with scarlet fever when he was
young. That caused him to have a bad hearing loss in both ears, it caused him to be nearly deft as an
adult.
His family moved to Port Huron, Michigan, that s where Edison went to school for only 12 weeks. He
was a hyperactive child and was said to be difficult by his teacher. After that he was homeschooled by
his mom. When he as older, at the age of 11, he started reading books on a lot of different subjects.
Edison was able to get self educated because of all the information in the books that he read. Little did
he know that this would help him later in his life and job.
When Thomas was 12 years old he started to use much of his self education to work. His parents let
him sell newspapers to the people who traveled on the grand trunk railroad line. Since he could see the

The Practice Of Method Acting Has Become No Less Than A...
The practice of method acting has become no less than a cultural phenomenon during the last eighty or
so years. The idea of an actor throwing himself so far into a role that character and man become one
intrigues and horrifies most. Of course, there is more to it than that. The technique of method acting
became prominent in the mid twentieth century thanks to teachers like Lee Strasberg of the Actors
Studio in New York. In essence, the method involves a search for truth in a role, wherein the actor or
actress recalls emotions or reactions from their own life to inform and identify with the character.
While this approach has produced no doubt some of the best performances of the modern age, there
are numerous drawbacks. When an actor dives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His system, introduced in the late 1890s and early 1900s, relied on emotional memory and a search for
inner truth to create great performances. Stanislavski s original system require[d] that an actor recreate
an event from the distant past in order to regenerate the feelings experienced at that time. These
feelings thus regenerated are then used in the current acting situation in order to fill out the role with
human depth and personal involvement . The necessity of the event being from the distant rather than
recent past is because Stanislavski felt (at the time) that time distilled events and feelings, acting as a
splendid filter for remembered feelings. (Sawoski 19.) Interestingly, Stanislavski later changed his
teachings to have a focus on physical actions, revolving around the idea that internal experiences
manifest in physical expression. But, before he changed his tune, two of his students from his First
Studio, Ri chard Boleslavsky and Maria Ouspenskaya, immigrated to the United States and began
teaching the Stanislavski Method to American students at the American Laboratory Theatre in 1925.
One of their students, Lee Strasberg, later used Stanislavski s theory of Emotional Memory to teach
Affective Memory at the Actor s Studio, even though Stanislavski himself had long since rejected
those original ideas. While Stanislavski may have originated the techniques of

How Did William Penn Influence America
After traveling throughout Europe with George Fox, the founder of the Quaker belief, William Penn
was finally granted land over in the new world by the King Charles II, the king of England at the time.
The land was a way to settle the king s debt with Penn s father, however William Penn had requested
the land for a different purpose a place the Quakers could finally live and not be oppressed. Through
his construction of Pennsylvania, Penn had an enormous influence on the future United States of
America through his belief of religious freedom, being a humanitarian, and by creating an ethnic
diversity in the middle colony. His Quaker religion had a major influence on Pennsylvania, since each
Quaker let each person follow the light of Jesus in their own way. Also, Penn promoted the human
welfare for each group that came into Pennsylvania, and tried to create a sufficient government that
ran well enough to support each group. However when developing the population of Pennsylvania,
Penn did something that was extremely uncommon at the time he invited extremely ethnically diverse
groups to live in harmony. It was hard to predict how critical William Penn s ideas would ... Show

According to the Quaker belief, each person has a light of Christ inside of them. As a part of being a
Quaker, a believer is to follow out the light inside of them in whatever way they see fit. This is a major
stepping stone that created the freedom of religion in Pennsylvania. When forming the government
and laws, Penn abided by his beliefs and created a law that called for religious tolerance, and invited
persecuted groups from Europe over to the colony. However only those who believe in God (mainly
Christians) could vote and hold official positions. None the less, a countless number of people came
over to participate in the social and economic affairs in PA. Even in a book written by Penn, Liberty of
Conscience, he

Everybody Loves Raymond Tv Show Analysis
After watching both TV Sitcoms, Everybody loves Raymond and Modern Family , there is a lot of
differences and similarities to analyze, comparing both on styles and production. First, Everybody
loves Raymond is an American TV series show in the sitcom genre, created by Philip Rosenthal and
aired on CBS since 1996. When I was watching it, I noticed that their settings were practically similar
to ¨Modern Family¨, showing both sites in a family house. For example, both TV shows started with
an establishing show. It is showing basically an overview of the location on where the scene will take
place. The director used different settings in the house, like for example, in the bedroom, kitchen,
living and dining room. The lighting in ¨Everybody ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, this is like that because the creators Christopher Lloyd Steven Levitan, made this TV sitcom
particularly in a Mockumentary style or (docu comedy style, in which means that they present the
events in a documentary style just to create comedy. Modern Family have that particular style of using
more camera movements than the show of Everybody loves Raymond , that is more static. This
dramatically movements of the camera makes the show seems like in a face pace running all the time.
They do faster close ups, zooms in/ out, tilting up/ down, and they do faster movements of panning
left/ right, to follow the conversation of the actors, which is totally different from the other show.
Another differences on both shows is that in ¨Modern Family¨ they have that particular style when you
see the actors talking directly to the camera, like they are having a conversation to someone, or just
maybe pretending they are talking to themselves. However, we don t see this in ¨Everybody loves
Raymond¨ but there is because they are acting to follow the story of the family but in that particular
way of the viewer listening to the live audience laughing after something funny

Ludwig Van Beethoven And Ludwig Van Beethoven s Nine...
Beethoven s Nine Symphonies Introduction Ludwig van Beethoven was a composer and Pianist of
German origin and he is one of the famous composers to date. He is an important figure in the change
between the classical music to Romantic era in Western music. Beethoven showed musical talent a
young age and his father Johann Van Beethoven and composer Christian Gottlob Neefe were his
teachers. At 21, Joseph Haydn became his teacher in Vienna and he taught him about composition.
During his late 20s, Beethoven started to lose his hearing and this progressed until he was almost
totally deaf in his last years. In 1881 Beethoven stopped performing in public and chose to focus on
composing and during this time he wrote some of his best compositions. Beethoven passed away on
March 26, 1827. In August 1845, the Beethoven monument in Bonn was unveiled making it the first
monument ever of a composer. The nine symphonies are one of his greatest compositions. 1.
Symphony No. 1 Symphony No. 1 was a dedication to Beethoven s early patron named Baron
Gottfried Van Swieten. Hoffmeister and Kuhnel of Leipzig published the symphony in 1801. The
symphony is in C major, opus number 21 and was composed between 1795 to 1801. Symphony No. 1
is influenced by Beethoven s teacher Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart but has features
that make it stand out as Beethoven s work. The opening of the Symphony took place on April 2,
1800, in Vienna. Performance of the symphony takes about 22 to 29 minutes. 2. Symphony No. 2
Symphony No. 2 is in four movements and was written between 1801 to 1802. The symphony is in D
major opus number 36 and is a dedication to Karl Alois, Prince Lichnowsky. This symphony was
written during the time Beethoven s deafness was becoming distinct and he was starting to realize it
may not be cured. Beethoven was residing in Heiligenstadt in 1802.The symphony was first
performed on April 5, 1803, in the Theatre an der Wien in Vienna. A performance can take 33 to 36
minutes. 3. Symphony No. 3 This symphony is in E flat major opus number 55. The symphony is also
known as Sinfonia Eroica in Italian or Heroic Symphony. The symphony is one of Beethoven s lauded
works. Eroica was composed between 1803 to 1804 and it marked

What It Means To Be An American Citizen Essay
What does it mean to be an American citizen? This is a hard question for me to answer because while I
am proud to be a part of a country where I have the right to vote and get an education just like any
other person, I am also ashamed to be a part of a country that was built on the racial enslavement and
then discrimination of black people for 200 years. So for me, it is both a blessing and a curse to be an
American citizen. I don t believe the whole America the great propaganda or the most perfect nation in
the world notion either. But I do believe that as a black women there is no other country in the world
that can provide me with opportunities to succeed like America. To me, being a black American

This is also one of my favorite readings because of its strong message and the ideas she preaches. She
says, In the transformation of silence into language and action, it is vitally necessary for each one of
us to establish or examine her function in that transformation and to recognize her role as vital within
that transformation . She wrote this essay while reflecting upon her mortality (after being diagnosed
with cancer), and questioning why she feared speaking out. By speaking up, we are able to connect
with others who have a similar vision for the world, and work with them, despite differences we may
have. Lorde is arguing that we must share and speak about what we believe in, even if we are afraid to
do so. When we remain silent on issues, we are still living in fear and these silences only hurt us. Even
though we may fear pain and judgement by speaking out, we will suffer those same things by
remaining silent. We must support and uplift the voices of all marginalized people and seek
connection within these stories. Out of all of the tapes on this mixtape, this one speaks to me the most
on citizenship. This talks about standing up for what you believe in no matter the cost and that s what

Color Blindness In The Phantom Of The Opera
Social justice is the equal distribution of resources and opportunities, in which outside factors that
categorize people are irrelevant (Pachamama Alliance). Inequality in gender, race, sexuality, religion,
and possessions remain potent. While many businesses are working toward creating equal and just
environments for all of their workers, many problems regarding race and gender still plague even the
21st century, and these efforts to combat injustice are not always readily and well received. Frequent
theatre goers may be unaware that even the entertainment industry deals with discrimination against
women and people of diverse backgrounds. Although on stage it may seem like new shows are

The Phantom of the Opera also issued a similar type of casting method when naming Norm Lewis as
the first black actor to play the Phantom. However, the idea of color blindness is not a problem on
stage so much as it is off stage. The biggest problem that many black playwrights and directors face is
not that their work is not being produced, but that the pieces written about black communities by
white men are often racist. Because much of white privilege doesn t have any interaction with
blackness they have a tendency to congregate around pathology, and only focusing on particular things
in the urban environment high crime, single parenthood, things like that and then they sort of tag that
as being the black experience (Nichloson). Properly representing a culture different than the
playwright s or producer s without being racist is a very tedious and difficult task which is why it is
very important to have diversity in a show s production team. Black people are needed on the creative
team of a show about a black community in order to have a fuller perspective of what black is, what
black story is, and what black voice is (Nichloson). American theatre has its definite struggles with
gender and racial injustices, but theatres in Britain are facing the same problems on an even greater

The Praetorian Guard
Throughout the Julio Claudian Dynasty ,the Praetorian Guard remained a metaphorical Big Brother ,
always watching and influencing not only the decisions of the Emperors but that of their successors as
well. When the Praetorian Guard decided to turn against the Emperors they swore to protect, they
heavily influenced the superseding succession of the Emperors during the Year of Four Emperors. It is
quite clear that the Praetorian Guard had an astounding influence over the politics and military of the
Roman Empire, as seen through the events of AD 69. In AD 69, the Year of the Four Emperors, the
Praetorian Guard took almost full control of the Roman Emperors. The Praetorian Guard s greed and

The speculatores, in turn, were a branch hired by the Praetorian Guard and thus under their full

head on, only to find himself and his legions overpowered by the German soldiers. As was common

The Return Of Martin Guerre Analysis
Natalie Zemon Davis The Return of Martin Guerre tells the true story of a peasant named Martin
Guerre, who was at the center of a famous case of imposture in France in the sixteenth century. Davis
takes the facts of this famous case from two primary sources including a book written by one of the
trial judges of the case in Toulouse, Jean de Coras, called Arreste Memorable and one by a lawyer,
Guillaume La Sueur, called Admiranda Historia. Davis uses other secondary sources to add details
about peasant life including information about marriage, family, economics, religion, village social
structure, as well as the political structure of the time. Davis moves beyond the facts and tries to
interpret and understand the motivations of the characters in the story. For example, she assumes that
Bertrande silently agreed to the fraud of Arnaud du Tilh because she wanted a husband and could not
remarry after her husband abandoned her. This seems more believable to me than Bertrande just being
stupid or naive and not knowing the difference between her husband and a stranger. In the preface of
the book she admits she was generating not proofs, but historical possibilities (Davis, viii). I ... Show

Bill Gates and His Accomplishments
Bill Gates: An Important Visionary For Better or Worse by Blake Noonan
Having an imagination is a virtue. Imagining an entirely new way to communicate and interact with
others through a machine is amazing in itself. Bill Gates is not only the richest man in the world, but
some consider him as the most ingenious too. Others see him as a monopolizing, money hungry nerd.
William Gates III was born in Seattle, Washington in 1955. When he was thirteen, he wrote his first
software program, which enabled him and his friends to play tic tac toe. While Gates was attending
Harvard, his best friend Paul Allen showed him the newest electronic hardware system in Popular

Advice From Nel Gaiman Analysis
TAKING ADVICE FROM NEIL GAIMAN There is a multitude of advice I will receive as I make my
path in the career of art and these are just two two the many; When you start out on a career in the arts
you have no idea what you are doing (Gaiman, 2012). and If you have an idea of what you want to
make, what you were put here to do, then just go and do that (Gaiman, 2012). I chose these pieces of
advice from Gaiman s address because as a beginning artist, it is the advice I have heard most from
those with experience. The people I look up to and whose work I admire, the people who have jobs in
the field they want or a large following of people who support their work all give the same advice. I
feel that it is because once you get to that point in your career, you have been in the exact same spot

The Conservation Of Wildlife Animals

seventy five years from now long to see a live elephant as I longed to see a woolly mammoth? .
However, she also mentioned that sometimes heroic efforts are being made to save and conserve

she is about to recount next. The stories show problems and difficulties people faces as they work on
the conservation of wildlife. One of the wildlife animals being discusses is the California condors.
Goodall starts the story with a humorous description about the condors; she describes the redness of
condors bare head and their strong wings. She continued by informs the readers about the decline of
California condors and how it raised a controversial between the biologists and the protectionist

Advantages Of 3D Printing
TECHNOLOGY
Materials for 3D printing were very limited during the early days of the technology.
Today, there is a whole array of material types that are supplied in different forms (filament, powder,
pellets, resin, granules etc).
The first step in 3D printing is to design the 3D digital model using a CAD program or scan the object
with a 3D scanner. The model will then be sliced into layers and converted into a printer readable file.
The printing material will be added one layer at a time. Different materials are suited for different 3D
printing technologies. There is no one solution fits all (The Potential of 3D Printing, Pg 4, METI

Factories: Assembly lines and supply chains are reduced. Factories have highly developed and

goods can be repaired by simply printing the spoiled component.
The (Big Innovation Centre, 2012) highlights some of the advantages of 3D printing. One of the
benefits of 3D printing is the ability to produce customized and personalized products. The appearance
of a product can be suited according to customer preferences. Secondly, 3D printing reduces
inventories. Retailers do not need to stockpile a large number of products.
Moreover, 3D printing reduces capital costs for manufacturers. As there is no need for an assembly
line, the need for a large scale investment in factories and machinery is reduced. Lastly, 3D printing
reduces transport costs, by removing the need for intermediate goods to be shipped from one factory
to another.

The Dialogue On The Two Great World Systems
Galileo s book The Dialogue on the Two Great World Systems is a 1632 book written by Galileo in

Galileo made a promise to religious authorities (including his supporter Pope Urban VIII) he would

Similarly to the male reproductive system, the female reproductive system is an intriguing and
complex system that contains internal and external structures. Its external structures consist of the
labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, and bartholens glands which all make up the vagina. These
structures all work together to protect the vagina as well as lubricate it. The vagina is an elastic,
muscular canal through which a baby can pass through during childbirth. The system s internal

As previously stated the process through which follicles enlarge and release a mature egg into the
fallopian tube is most commonly known as ovulation. The ovulation cycle is divided into two parts
with the follicular phase being the beginning part in which the egg matures. The ovulatory phase then
begins during the middle of a female s menstrual cycle in which cervical fluids increase and become
more fertile. An increase in the LH hormone levels affect the ovarian follicle causing a hole, or stigma
to appear on the surface of the follicle. At this point in the course of ovulation, the egg is pushed down
the fallopian tube into the uterus where it will wait 12 24 hours to be fertilized by a sperm cell before
it disintegrates. The series of changes in the female reproductive system that include producing an egg
and preparing the uterus to nurture it for nine months is called the menstrual cycle. This process
begins during the pubescent years of a female and ends when said female goes through menopause.
The menstrual cycle is commonly divided into four phases: follicular phase, ovulation phase, luteal
phase and menstruation phase if the egg is not fertilized. During the first phase of the cycle (follicular
phase) estrogen, a female hormone, causes the endometrium to grow and develop in order to prepare
for a possible fertilized egg. The spike in the estrogen levels cause FSH

Southwest Asia
Southwest Asia is the term geographers use when referring to the Middle East. Middle East is a
political term coined by the British in the 1930 s to distinguish the region from both the Far East,
which included China, Japan and Indochina, and the Near East, which included portions of Western
Europe. All of these areas are truly only east of Europe. In order to emphasize a more global
perspective, geographers prefer to use the politically neutral term Southwest Asia because it does not
connote a Western European bias.

In English, kebab with no qualification generally refers more specifically to shish kebab served on the
skewer. In the Middle East, however, kebab includes grilled, roasted, and stewed dishes of large or
small cuts of meat, or even ground meat; it may be served on plates, in sandwiches, or in bowls.
The traditional meat for kebab is lamb, but depending on local tastes and taboos, it may now be beef,
goat, chicken, pork; fish and seafood; or even vegetarian foods like falafel or tofu. Like other ethnic
foods brought by travelers, the kebab has become part of everyday cuisine in many countries around

Dinosaurs Are The Endotherms-Birds
The reading and lecture, both are discussing that the dinosaurs are the endotherms animals which keep
their body temperature constant. The author of the reading passage believes that the dinosaurs are the
endotherms; whereas, the lecturer does not agree with the author. She puts forth three aspects, each of
which has dismissed the reading assertions. To begin with, the author of the reading asserts that the
finding of the dinosaurs fossils in the polar region are convincing. The author believes that the animals
require to maintain the temperature higher than the surrounding temperature to live in the low
temperature area . This point is directly challenged in the lecture. The speaker posits that the
temperature of the polar region in the time

Benefits Of Profit Post Secondary Institutions
Researchers of for profit post secondary institutions have realized that for profit post secondary
institutions are fast growing players in the post secondary education sector. Most researchers in the
education industry come from the non profit sector and often criticize for profit institutions as wrong
doers. Researchers hold that for profit institutions sell degrees, misrepresent and deceive their students
leading to defaulted student loans and an on going defrauding of the federal government. Research
demonstrates that the Federal government has responded to the criticism of their lack of oversight of
post secondary for profit institutions with numerous regulations, some apply only to for profit
institutions. These regulations control everything from, the programs offered, the way admissions
recruiters are compensated, limitations on default rates and limitations on the revenue a for profit
institution can derive from federal funds. However, the research around for profit educations does not
address the adequacy of the regulations in serving their underlying purpose or to address the impact, if
any, on for profit institutions. Synopsis on the Research of For Profit Post Secondary Institutions
When researchers take a historical look, for profit post secondary institutions have been in the United
States since the colonial days. In the 1967 about seven million people were enrolled and seeking a
degree at a post secondary institution. (Tierney 2011) However, less than ten

The Human Immune System Is A Complex Defence Mechanism...
The human immune system is a complex defence mechanism that protects the body from harmful
pathogens. Our innate immunity provides humans with a thorough degree of protection, but epidemics
are still common throughout the world. To give an example of scale, over 14 million people die
annually from vaccine preventable diseases. In New Zealand a majority of diseases have been
eradicated, but some such as whooping cough and pneumococcal are still present.
To reduce and stabilize the amount of cases of infected individuals, vaccines are administered to help
our immune systems recognize and counteract harmful microorganisms that cause infection. Due to
their proven effectiveness, the National Immunisation Schedule in New Zealand recommends that
children be immunised for protection from 11 preventable diseases before they are 5 years old. This is
not a mandatory vaccination programme, but is recommended by the Ministry of Health and the World
Health Organisation. It is free of charge and the programme begins when babies reach six weeks of
age.
There are numerous conflicting viewpoints concerning the efficacy of vaccines. Globally, the medical
community tends to agree that they are a safe, effective method of controlling dangerous epidemics.
Incidents such as the MMR vaccine controversy in 1998 (the discredited claim that autism was linked
to the combined vaccine) have tainted vaccines safe image, and the social backlash from that
untrustworthy research paper are still

  • 2. To The Virgins, To Make Much Of Time By Robert Herrick Little did I know at the age of fourteen as I laced up my basketball shoes the game I was about to participate in would forever change my life. Nor did I realize that game would be the last time I would ever step foot onto a basketball court. Even simple tasks such as walking would soon almost be impossible to complete. Following the game I soon proceeded to have a multitude of knee surgeries and numerous years of physical therapy. Looking back, if I would have grasped what was about to happen, I would have absorbed every second. Through this experience I learned nothing is ever guaranteed and that I must utilize the opportunities that have been laid in front of me. This is where I became familiar with the term Carpe diem. For centuries now, philosophers from countries all over the world have dedicated their lives to the study of the nature of knowledge, reality, existence, and academic discipline. These studies have taken them places within their field that question their own existence, the existence of everyone and everything around them, and even what is right and wrong in the world they live in. However, today s philosophy is somewhat different than it once was in the age of Aristotle, Plato, and Descartes. One of the more current and controversial questions that has been pondered by philosophers of the Twenty and Twenty First Centuries is whether or not it is possible for artificial intelligence, such as phones, laptops, or Smart TV s, to function like a human brain would. These days, we have the capability of signaling somebody halfway across the world or finding out any piece of information within seconds. Our treasured pieces of technology are kept near us at all times and it is a comfortable feeling knowing that we have them around, even when there s no interaction with them. We treat and care about our technology as if it were a friend. And despite the fact that technology often seems to have the ability to communicate back to us, they do not actually think like a human would. Although artificial intelligence is able to process information easily and quickly, it can not in fact properly interpret, therefore it will never measure up to a human s capability of processing. • 6. Outdated Themes Into The Mosaic Of The Romantic Period Castles, Lords, and merry singing, how does Mary Robinson fit these seeming outdated themes into the mosaic of the Romantic Period? The Poor Singing Dame is about an impoverished old woman who lives a cheerful existence through singing despite the fact that many would consider her circumstances miserable. A Lord of the nearby castle becomes overwhelmed with jealousy of the woman s happiness and locks her in prison where she dies. He is haunted by his actions and soon dies subsequently. Mary Robinson is an interesting addition to the list of prominent Romantic Period writers. The structure of The Poor Singing Dame is interesting to compare to the structures that her contemporaries use, yet she includes many of the popular themes of the time as well. The shape of the stanzas and the rhyming pattern may vaguely resemble the famous cantos of Lord Byron. Those works of literature were modeled after classic Italian pieces. Although The Poor Singing Dame honors the classics, critics have said Mary Robinson s writing possesses the new realism that will impel English poetry into the nineteenth century (Norton 78). In The Poor Singing Dame, Mary Robinson s voice seems negated from the narrative and in that sense bears resemblance John Keats. However the singing old woman s happiness being ruined by a tyrannical Lord may be Mary Robinson expressing some of her feelings after being deserted by the Prince of Wales. Chapter five focuses on social positions and our interactions with other people along with the different types of statuses a person can behold or gain and the roles that come along with them. In my life I have worked towards becoming a student at OSU Newark, becoming a friend to numerous people, becoming a girlfriend, and becoming an employee at Dollar General. Depending on the situation any of these statuses could be considered my master status. At school my master status is student whereas at work my master status is employee. With all these statuses come various roles. Roles are expected behaviors based on your status. In my life I struggle with not only role strain but also role conflict. Role strain is when a person has multiple roles that conflict with each other for a single status whereas role conflict is when a person has multiple roles that conflict for multiple statuses. The idea of an actor throwing himself so far into a role that character and man become one intrigues and horrifies most. Of course, there is more to it than that. The technique of method acting became prominent in the mid twentieth century thanks to teachers like Lee Strasberg of the Actors Studio in New York. In essence, the method involves a search for truth in a role, wherein the actor or actress recalls emotions or reactions from their own life to inform and identify with the character. These feelings thus regenerated are then used in the current acting situation in order to fill out the role with human depth and personal involvement . The necessity of the event being from the distant rather than recent past is because Stanislavski felt (at the time) that time distilled events and feelings, acting as a splendid filter for remembered feelings. But, before he changed his tune, two of his students from his First Studio, Ri chard Boleslavsky and Maria Ouspenskaya, immigrated to the United States and began teaching the Stanislavski Method to American students at the American Laboratory Theatre in 1925. Beethoven s Nine Symphonies Introduction Ludwig van Beethoven was a composer and Pianist of German origin and he is one of the famous composers to date. He is an important figure in the change between the classical music to Romantic era in Western music. Beethoven showed musical talent a young age and his father Johann Van Beethoven and composer Christian Gottlob Neefe were his teachers. At 21, Joseph Haydn became his teacher in Vienna and he taught him about composition.
