An Analysis Of The Letter From Birmingham Jail
I think the Letter from the Birmingham City Jail which was written over 53 years ago, is one of the
most brilliant letters I have every read. 1963 was the year Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested and
placed in a Birmingham jail because he and others were protesting the treatment of blacks in
Birmingham, Alabama. The White court system made an ordered that stated that Martin Luther King
could not hold protests in Birmingham. Martin Luther King along with the Rev. Ralph Abernathy
decided to form a nonviolent protest in the business section of Birmingham. This was a no, no. The
police commissioner Bull Connor lost his bid for mayor during the run off. Losing did not stop
Connor. Connor team up with the Police Chief Jamie Moore and they

Titanic Essay
Titanic Essay
Many people across the world watch films. It is so popular because it puts a story on the screen and
into life so that people can see it.
People watch films for the entertainment value, or are simply too lazy to read and enjoy the magic of a
book.
The advantages of watching a film at the cinema rather than on video is the bigger screen, and the
surround sound, also the atmosphere. This all adds up and creates a bigger impact than a video.
People make films to tell a story or get a message across, such as Pearl Harbour, which tells us the
story of a real historical event through the eyes of a fictional love story, very much like Titanic. Or
Shrek, which puts a message ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this on Titanic is when they go from the back of the boat to the front.
They also use Sound Effect to make what is happening sound more real, such as an explosion or band.
They also use backing tracks, which can be used to emphasise the emotion a character is feeling. For
example, if it was sad, they might use a love song.
They use costume to show you what time something was set it, or the class of the people, particularly
shown in Titanic, as Jack is very poor and Rose is rich. The characters who wear the costumes are also
very important. They have to look the part and sound the part, not just be able to read the lines. They
have to act the way a person of that time would.
For my GCSE coursework, I will be writing a Media essay on Titanic, which was directed by James
Caremon. It was made in 1997, and was the most expensive film made at the time. It won many
awards, and is one of the great love stories told, based on a real historical event.
The Titanic was quoted as being Titanic, wasn t just another ship, it was bigger, faster, and more
luxurious than any other ship before her. She had two sister ships, The Olympic and The Britannic, all
of which were owned by White Star Line, a series of very luxurious ships. It was built in Harland and
Wolff Shipyard, and was 882 ft 6 inches, by 92 ft 6 inches. It had 2212 people onboard, 20 lifeboats,

Ethical Issue in Pharmacy
Ethical issues in the retail pharmaceutical industry: An analysis of the ethical dilemmas faced within
Chaguanas Drug Mart Limited Abstract: The ethical duty of a pharmacy is to promote a patient s best
interest. However, certain obvious ethical issues will arise. Within any business involved in bulk
purchasing the issue of unconscious theft will also occur. The following paper focuses on the
application of ethical theories that supports as well as argues the behavior within Chaguanas Drug
Mart. Chaguanas Drug Mart was established in 2008 and is no ordinary pharmacy since it provides

Many customers are relatives or friends of the workers and are aware that the drugs are the only
source to relief but do not go to the doctor for the necessary documents since there is easy access to
the items such as antibiotics. Those who work in the medical field know that protecting patient safety
is the ultimate ethical principle; therefore the argument is twofold where technicians face many ethical
dilemmas because the total amount of good minuses the total the amount of bad however Kantian
argues that the wrong thing regardless of how justifiable is till the wrong thing. The ethical dilemma is
resolved however by placing inventory checks on all prescription drugs within the business which will
manage the supply and movement of stock/Inventory. Although this may not completely solve the
current issue, it will certainly limit the level of diversion. Dilemma 2 Employee monitoring in the
work environment Employee monitoring has emerged as a necessity and is the act of watching and
monitoring employees actions during working hours using employer equipment/property (Raposa
Mujtaba, 2003). Within the company, employees have disregarded the term staff discount by
practicing in unethical behaviour which encompasses stealing the drugstore supplies as well as time
theft. Although time theft can be a more subtle form of unethical behaviour, according to

Common Emergency Drug Used For Patients With Severe Allergies
Because pharmaceutical companies have so much power over pricing, they have started to raise prices
with no motive other than more profit. In recent years, the industry has seen a steep price increase in
drugs. These increases, in some cases, seem inexplicable. Regarding this is the recent example of the
EpiPen, a common emergency drug used for patients with severe allergies. In the past, the EpiPen was
available to patients for as low as 40 dollars. Now the price is almost 600 dollars. (Woodward, Layton)
The problem with this is the device has had no fundamentally different changes to it. This means the
pharmaceutical company responsible for the EpiPen raised the price for no reason other than more
money in the company s pocket. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This however is like saying shoe advertisements are educational, showing people how to cover their
feet. (Ridberg et al.) The commercials focus on showing individuals living happy lives, not statistics
about the drug or instructions on how to take it. In addition, it is argued that the reason pharmaceutical
companies stress ethics in their work is because it would severely damage their profits. However,
putting an emphasis on patient care shows an increase in profits. Maung Min, author of Should
Pharmaceutical Companies Engage in Corporate Social Responsibility? discusses how Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) impacts pharmaceutical companies revenues. CSR can be defined as the
way companies positively impact society, which emphasizes social standards over monetary gain. The
findings of this paper show that 96 percent of companies who engage in CSR see it positively impact
profitability. (Min 64) Alternatively, pharmaceutical company proponents argue the industry is
constantly researching new methods of treatment to better old ones. While true in theory, the reality of
pharmaceutical companies is they are not focusing on these new treatments, and instead rebranding
drugs already on the market. Instead making a drug from scratch that has an extremely low probability
of working, companies choose to make a drug

Disadvantages Of Kupipakva Rasayana
Types of Kupipakva rasayana
Basically there are three types of kupipakwa rasayana seen based on the inclusion of sulphur in the
ingredients, the time of corking the mouth of kupi and the site of obtaining the desired product
Ingredients
 mercury + sulphur, e.g. Rasasindoor .
 mercury + sulphur + Metal, e.g. Tamrasindoor, Rajatasindoor
 mercury + sulphur + Mineral, e.g. Talasindoor, Shilasindoor
Time of corking:
 Antardhoom : Corking of the bottle is done at the beginning, which results in preventing vapours
from escaping e.g. Rasasindoor.
 Bahirdhoom: Corking is done after sulphur fumes gets subsidised. e.g. Shilasindoor. Site of finished
product:

Importance of Kupipakva rasayana
Heat given is of very high degree, which makes the formulations laghu, thereby enabling the drug to
penetrate faster and deeper into the tissues. Thus, they enhance the body s working system which form
the basis of treatment in Ayurveda. In Kupipakva method, Mercury with or without Sulphur is
converted in to a suitable compound, even without being reduced to ashes.
Through this process, the potency and efficacy of mercury, increases in proportion to the amount of
Sulphur burnt . The properties like small drug dose, rapid action, desired result, long shelf life,
palatability made Kupipakva rasayana to occupy superior position in Ayurvedic therapeutics.
Kupipakva rasayana is very much effective in all VataKapha predominant diseases.( S S

Birthcontrol and the Work Of Margaret Sanger Essay
Birthcontrol and the Work Of Margaret Sanger
Works Cited Missing
A free race cannot be born and no woman can call herself free who does not own and control her body.
No woman can call herself free until she can choose consciously whether she will or will not be a
mother (Sanger A 35). Margaret Sanger (1870 1966)said this in one of her many controversial papers.
The name of Margaret Sanger and the issue of birth control have virtually become synonymous. Birth
control and the work of Sanger have done a great deal to change the role of woman in society,
relationships between men and woman, and the family. The development and spread of knowledge of
birth control gave women sexual freedom for the first time, gave them an individual ... Show more

This in turn had prompted an arms race. There for many countries felt children were an important part
of building a stronger military. National pride to all countries was important. European countries were
competing for space and power do to what Germany called The War of the Cradle (Birth Control in
America). This meant the German government had begun instilling national pride and building its
nationalism from the ground up. This was at the brink of World War One. However, it was not only for
nationalism that the impoverished were encouraged to reproduce. It was because children meant
inexpensive labor for the new industrial factories that were springing up all over urban America and
the world.
There was also the ethical argument against birth control that seems to be mostly tainted with male
pride. It appeared to some people to be
...increasing isolation and mobility of the individual family (Birth
Control in America). It allowed people to control the size of their family thus controlling their life
style as well. Fewer children meant less work more money and more time for women. With Margaret
Sanger s work, and birth control the family was reshaped in size from seven or eight children to what
is more common today, which is two to three children.
Birth control has always been present in society even if it was just a matter of Backyard abortions,

Essay The Abortion Arguments of Cider House Rules
The Abortion Arguments of Cider House Rules
I am writing this essay on a Saturday evening, not with any real contemplation, or even planning. I am
writing this because I was just minutes ago watching the movie Cider House Rules. I won t go into the
plot of the movie, but, to explain my motivation for writing this, I will simply describe one portion of
the movie.
The scene at issue in my mind right now is one where a fourteen year old girl comes to the orphanage
which is the setting for part of the movie. This girl came to the orphanage because it was known in the
region as a place that performed abortions. She had had a crude abortion performed in such a way that
she had been severely injured (her uterus was punctured by a crochet ... Show more content on

In the movie, Homer is an orphan, and this may provide an interesting perspective in regards to the
status of the fetus. As an unwanted child himself, he empathizes with the unborn children that he
refuses to destroy.
So far, all we have talked about really is the emotion of the question of abortion. The purpose of this
essay (which will not be very long), is to examine these lines of reasoning, and to come to some
conclusion about the differing philosophies of these two characters.
The doctor s argument is, as I mentioned, very much a utilitarian one, and as you know, this sort of
argument doesn t sit well with me (see my Truth essays). Regardless of my perspective, though, the
doctor s first argument is one which many people (including some that I greatly respect) accept as a
good reason for legalized abortion. The doctor is making the very simple assessment that one death is
preferable to two. If the mother dies along with the baby, this is a waste and a shame, therefore he
feels as though he is obligated to perform an abortion that will not likely harm the young woman at
issue. Homer, on the other hand, takes a deontological stance he believes that his performing an
abortion is wrong, and that is as far as his reasoning has to go.
So far, the choice between philosophies is simple deontology or utilitarianism. In order to make the
choice a bit more relevant, allow me to

Tenets Of Preventive Force
scholars consider it unfortunate that Israel received denunciation from the UN and note that the attack
abided by all the criteria of jus ad bellum. McMahan (2006), D Amato (1996), Long (2005), and Ford
(2005) all contend it is an exemplary case of preventive force used justifiably as it illustrates how
there should be no blanket provision against preventive force under the just war theory. These scholars
note that neither the Caroline Test nor the definition of preemption require alteration. However, the
tenets of just war theory should be used to arbitrate if the preventive action was justifiable. They are
good examples of supporters of the Reform position in this debate. McMahan even goes so far as to

This is more prevalent in complex environments such as modern society, where most aspects of life
are intertwined and interdependent, especially so in a globalized world. This interconnection, while
beneficial in some areas, also creates vulnerabilities for states. Globalization does so at the strategic
international level as well, something that makes even local conflicts appear to have larger
implications on national security. Specific to military action and this complexity, Coker believes, it is
almost impossible to anticipate and therefore insure against all the effects of going to war (Coker
2009, 105). He goes on to imply that anxiety is the dominant part of a risk society. Such anxiety and
fear of potential risks can alter perceptions and influence decision making. Beck eloquently stated this
idea: The more threatening the shadows that fall on the present because a terrible future is impending,
the more believed are the headlines provoked by the dramatization of risk today (Beck 1997,

The School That I Would Give Temple University Essay
I have attended only three different schools before NECC. The school that I thought was by far the
most dynamic and helped me retain information better was Temple University. I would give Temple
University an A, because I was exposed to several different teaching styles, which made the classes
much more memorable. I remember sitting in my Language in Society Class thinking Why are we
taking a group quiz? He might as well just hand out the A s. But it was much deeper than that. I had to
learn how to balance speaking and listening for group participation, in addition to time management. It
wasn t like a group project, because we were just working together for one timed class period instead
of having days of preparation. These were skills that I came to realize were much more important
outside of school. I ve noticed a lot at work, when we have to make a timed decision especially, that
people would dominate conversations and leave people s opinions out. Now, I actually want to hear
from people who are quieter as opposed to just thinking that they agree with whatever is being said. I
had several different teachers that would challenge the structure of a normal classroom.
Being a Linguistics/Speech Pathology major at Temple University meant a lot of my classes were

Cuban Revolution Source Analysis
After analysing all of the source s mentioned above, it is evident that all three authors have very
diverse perspectives on the Cuban Revolution. Whilst it may seem to Source A s audience that the
author (Alistair Cooke) is simply trying to inform the American public of Castro s leadership after
examination, it seems as though they are trying to brainwash readers into rebelling against Castro.
Thus, the Source is considered anti Castro. Comparatively, in Source B, Herbert L. Matthews reports
on an exclusive interview with Castro s best lieutenants, Major Che Guevara to present the audience
an anecdote which portrays a strong sense of patriotism, pride and authority which are all factors that
present the audience with Matthews pro Castro perspective. Additionally, Source C s perspective is
also in Castro s favour as the Source is secondary and means that the author could see the context of

Benefits Of Getting A Job Than High Educated Employees Essay
In fall 2016, some 20.5 million students are expected to attend American colleges and universities,
constituting an increase of about 5.2 million since fall 2000. The employment rate was higher for
those with higher levels of educational attainment. For example, in 2015, the employment rate for 20
to 24 year olds (also referred to as young adults in this indicator) with a bachelor s degree or higher
was higher than the rate for young adults with some college but no bachelor s degree (89 vs. 76
percent). As you can see from these facts above, the number of students going to universities is
dramatically increasing because employer s demand for high educated employees climbs fast.
Although many people, who are motivated by Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg, argue that experience is
more important for getting a job than your record at school, others believe that obtaining good grades
can aid you in getting more chance of getting great jobs, benefit yourself with advantages such as
scholarships and internship or prove that you are passionate with your major.
During an interview, it is clear that GPA attached in your resume is one of the most vital elements that
all employers look at. According to an article of Forbes, career services directors at four schools New
York University, Brandeis, Rochester Institute of Technology and Purdue all agree: Employers do care
about grades. As we can see, getting good grades is student s duty if he or she wants to make their

The Causes Of The Cold War In A Cold War
From 1947 up until 1991 America and The USSR were in a cold war. A cold war is defined a state on
political hostility that never progresses past threats, propaganda, or any other acts of antagonism short
of open violence. The change in American foreign policy was the main catalyst in starting the Cold
War, however with conflicting ideology and the control of Eastern Europe post WWII being the
precursors they played a large role in creating tension and mistrust between the soviets and the
americans. From the very start, the cold war was bound to happen due to the conflicting ideology
between the USSR and the USA. The USSR, who was a communist state believed in a society that
had no private ownership. Communism was all about being a classless society where everyone was
equal, this entailed the abolishment of inheritance, once someone died all of their money went back to
the government rather than to the family of the deceased. Everyone had equal obligation to work; most
frequently in agriculture, and all profit made from working were equally distributed to all members of
society. All communications and transportation was controlled by the State. Communism outlawed all
forms or religious teaching, as well as prohibiting trade with outside nations. Communism was a
totalitarian system of government where the government controlled all aspects of a society, they
imposed their views on the population and resorted to violence if they were met with resistance. As

Since the use of the first computer, software has been considered as an addition to the hardware. The

An ongoing opening is rife in the world of law that computing has its own law however these this has

Use Of Penelope s Voice In The Odyssey
Lingyan Xie
Justice
No Truth in Story telling
Margaret Atwood gives voice to Penelope, one of antiquity s most infamous heroines, so that she can
tell her story at last and set the record straight once and for all (Canongate). The quotation printed at
the back of The Penelopiad gives a concise motivation why Margaret Atwood writes the book:
Atwood uses Penelope s voice to tell the readers how she is wronged in Homer s Odyssey. Although
the narrator Penelope dominates the book, the twelve hanged maids also interpose their own opinion
in prose and rhymes. However, it is not hard for the readers to find out that the two perspectives
contradict one another, the maids voice is often used as a counterpoint to Penelope s, when it comes to
why the maids are hanged. Since The Penelopiad is all about Penelope, then why does Atwood
employ the maids voice which causes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the mornings, our eyes darkened by lack of sleep, we d exchange smiles of complicity, and here and

From the vivid description of how close Penelope and the maids are, it can be seen that Penelope does
not only treat the maids with superiority, but also Penelope truly treats and loves the maids as if they
were sisters. Later, according to Penelope, when the suitors come, Penelope assigns the maids to be
her spies by ingratiating themselves with the suitors. When comes the turning point that Penelope
decides to tell the returning, furious Odysseus all about the plan, she is drugged to sleep. It was my
fault! (160). Throughout the whole book, Penelope frequently expresses her sorrow and dismay about
the hanging of the maids. It is as if Penelope herself were a victim in the hanging of the maids, she is
helpless and heartbroken when Odysseus kills her sister like

Relationship Between Teacher And Students
Relationships in the classroom
Building a relationship between the teacher and the student is not always easy, but it is necessary and
important. In the first lecture of this course, the importance of a relationship between the teacher and
the students was discussed [1]. Building a good relationship in the classroom setting is not only a tool
for building a better learning environment, but also a way to make a teacher s work matter. If the
relationship between the teacher and the student is bad, usually the student feels pushed out and
rejected and therefore develops a bad relationship with the subject and with learning. A large body of
research supports the idea that a good teacher student relationship helps the students feel better and
have higher academic achievements [2] [5]. A good teacher, one that has a good relationship with
his/her students can manage to instill a growth mindset in their students and help them achieve more
also in the future, when the said teacher is not present anymore.
Building a relationship takes time and effort, as humans do not immediately accept strangers in their
lives and don t usually trust others unless that trust is earned. For a teacher, earning the trust of a
student can be a very complicated process, based on different experiences and different views on
various topics. There are three main factors that set the basis for the classroom relationships: the way
in which we interact, the content of the interactions and the environment

Marxist View Of The Distribution Of Power Within Society...
The essay will analyse and critique the Marxist view of the distribution of power within society and
the political system. It will then summarise how we commonly define a liberal democracy and what
are its recognisable features within a pluralist context such as in Britain. Finally, it will ask how
Marxists might view the above as affecting participation in such a political system. Overall this essay
will outline the uneven distribution of power Marxism sees in a capitalist, liberal democratic society;
the class conflict this is based on, and the negative, repressive effect this has on political participation.
Marxism views human society as resting on an economic base and a superstructure. The natural basis

23). Here he confirms how politics, through the state, acts as a vehicle for the elevation of bourgeois
interests, cementing their power above that of the proletariat.
One implicit critique of the economic determinism of Marxism came from within the analysis itself.
Gramsci believed the role of civil society (schools, family, church) was as important as economics and
the modes of production. He thought that without greater acknowledgement of the role ideology,
consciousness and cultural hegemony played in society, the dominant capitalist ideology could not be
understood and thus its power challenged. However, as De Orellana says (De Orellana, 2015) though
Gramsci was harshly critical of what he called the vulgar historical materialism and economism of
Marxism, as a Marxist he assumed the fundamental importance of the economy .
A liberal democracy can be defined by a democratic recognition of the rights and freedoms of the
individual, with the law limiting unbridled exercise of political power, by means of regular elections,
freedom of; speech, association, religion and rule of law etc. By common recognition, pluralism is
now considered to be part and parcel of liberal democratic societies. Coming from within the
structural functionalist paradigm of sociological theory proponents of this view hold that political
power in democratic societies is dispersed among several competing veto groups, with the state a
neutral arbitrator to ensure competition is fair and

How Technology Has Impacted The Generation
RESEARCH PROPOSAL
Are we beginning to depend too much on technology? What are the consequence that raise by
depending on technology?
Introduction
People have become very dependent on technology in recent years. In the course of history, man has
created wonderful and effective things that have improved certain areas of society. With the passage of
time, technology innovations reached a corner if the earth to become host part of many cultures.
Previously, the man did not read a computer, or any technology device to learn and perform their daily
tasks but obviously has become increasingly dependent on technology.
Purpose
Humanity began to form and meet with technology, not only this but also set their dependence on it
which led to dehumanization. While technology brings many advantages, these same disadvantages
have become with the passing of time has since made the society, lazy and facile society.
Through this I would like to give a clear picture on how the technology has impacted the younger
generation and how it made the humans lazy.
Today s generation have become too dependent on technology and is it good or bad to over depend on
it?
What are the consequences that would raise on too much use of technology?
Methods
To research on my topic, and to establish a strong platform on my proposal, I have been to informal
articles which are peer evaluated ones besides the journals, websites, and also the internet which is

The Working Poor by D. Shipler Essay
The Working Poor The objective of this essay is to illuminate my overall reaction to the reading of
The Working Poor conveying what I do not like while highlighting a sociological perspective, in
addition to explaining if the reading is applicable to my own life experience. Taking notice, the subject
at hand was very sobering alluding even if we ourselves have not been partakers of living in the
obscurity of prosperity between poverty and wellbeing, certainly we have encountered someone that
has become a victim to it. With this in mind, my reaction is there are countless victims of poverty;
surely one does not have to go very far to find them as we understand them to be the working class.

with the other rowers. The timing of each pull on the oar was important in both speed and direction.
Also, timing was very important because with so three row of rowers on each side, they could very
easily hit another oar and slow down the boat. 3. The Triremes would not have worked well for trade

search to see how one animal would branch off to another species. In my biology honors class, we
watched a movie of how global warming is changing the weather and the green house effect could
make massive impact on the earth and the animals. While I was watching the movie, many animal
species were doing into danger (which they still are) and global warming is effecting their homes

Pain In The Chronicles Of Narnia
C.S. Lewis, widely known for his works of fiction, mainly The Chronicles of Narnia, is also one of the
most loved and respected names in Christian Literature in the last century.
The Problem of Pain, C.S. Lewis s first foray into Christian writing, although he professes in the
preface, If any real theologian reads these pages he will very easily see that they are the work of a
layman and an amateur . This self professed layman of the Church of England, however, deliveries an
astute defence of Christian theism in the face of pain in the world. Lewis s arguments, which contain
many ideas of previous and present Christian thinkers, attempt to defend God s goodness despite the
world s evils, steers close to many other theodicies in this regard. Lewis s central argument is that free
will is responsible for Man s suffering, not God s will, thus not blemishing God s goodness or
character. He states upfront, what he believes is the problem of pain in its simplest form, that, If God

Crime And Punishment Utilitarianism
Are there special human beings who are entitled to more rights and privileges than ordinary humans?
Rodia s theory in Dostoyevsky s novel, Crime and Punishment, addresses this question. His desire to
perform benevolent deeds for society converts him into a strong believer in his theory, influencing him
to commit murder. Through Rodia s experiment, the novel proves the theory false. Dostoevsky uses
his characterization of Raskolnikov to express criticism of the popular theory, Utilitarianism.
Utilitarianism was a widespread theory in Russia during Dostoyevsky s era, a belief that achieving a
greater good for the society, in any method, was a moral right. For example, one believes that an evil
deed is invalidated by the morally justified outcome ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to Rodia s dual personality, there are many contradictions within his theory. Rodia claims that
extraordinary humans commit crimes that are beneficial to society and thus, they have a perfect right
to commit breaches of morality and crimes, and the law is not for them (205). These men have a right
to take lead in society because they are given extraordinary tasks; at the same time, they are above the
ordinary men and can overlook their moral laws because the privileged men s crimes are justified for
their moral purposes. At the time of his murder, Rodia s theory is underdeveloped and his crime was
an experimentation. When Rodia confesses to Sonia, he says, I wanted to murder without casuistry, to
murder for my own sake, for myself alone! I didn t want to lie about it even to myself (329). In truth,
Rodia wanted to test out his theory, despite his justifications, and find out if he was an extraordinary
human and were given these rights. He desperately wanted to feed his self esteem by placing himself
superior to others. However, his psychological battle, the constant guilt, uneasiness, and instability,
confirmed that he is was not granted these immortal rights. Ultimately, Rodia accepts the truth he had
been rejecting and turns himself in order to free himself from the guilt that captured him. In the end,
Rodia had no revolutionary cause to murder the

Summary Of President Lyndon Baines Johnson s We Shall...
In 1965, the United States of America was almost in chaos due to the Civil Rights Movement, and its
often violent responses. However, on March 15 of that year, President Lyndon Baines Johnson spoke
to the members of Congress about the importance of Civil Rights to the principles of the Constitution
and the values of this country. Johnson also briefly spoke of the bill he planned to present in the
coming week. This bill would ensure that African Americans can freely exercise their Constitutional
right to vote. The speech, called We Shall Overcome, was not only very effective with its use of ethos,
logos, and pathos, but was also very successful in its overall purpose, an argument that no American
citizen should be denied their rights due to the color of their skin. Lyndon Baines Johnson s use of
ethos, or credibility, in his speech was very simple, but still very powerful. Johnson s credibility
simply comes from the fact that, at the time of the speech, he was the President of The United States
of America. Although this seems very obvious, he reminds the audience of his power several times
throughout the speech by referring to himself as your President (5,6). He also reminds the audience of
his power by speaking about a bill that he plans to present, and three bills he has already passed, in
order to fix the issue at hand. Although Johnson does well to make sure he is seen as an authority
figure who should be listened to, he also does very well to make sure that his

Even though these stereotypes are partially ruining the careers of potential young talented female

The Influence of Historical and Theoretical Factors
Domestic Violence CJCU 416 OL1
Every year in America, there are millions of women who are physically assaulted by their partners
(Tjaden Thoennes, 2000). This number is staggering. For the purpose of this literature review, I am
defining domestic violence as physical abuse. As domestic violence increases, the need for
intervention ever so in demand. Tjaden Thoeness (2000), describe how the widespread occurrence of
domestic violence is influenced by historical and theoretical factors and this is evident with domestic
violence intervention. Both of these factors encourage options for treatment for the victims and
abusers of domestic violence.
Kaya Cook (2010), discusses how a well known Nation started a major movement which targeted
violence against women. Empowerment of women is a key source in violence intervention. Previously
the traditional role of a woman was to known as a homemaker. Educated women were rare to find. As
society is growing, women have received more political and social rights and feel more empowered.
Women who have access to work and education gain a greater chance of escaping male violence
(Kaya Cook, 2010). Factors are education, income, age, drug abuse or abuse history. Prevention
tactics at this level are often considered to stimulate attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that in the end
reduce violence. Kaya Cook (2010) also

Courier Pak is an underrated service that is provided by FEC. Its profit margin is higher than all the
other services provided (66%), and has huge growth potential. It has both great speed and reliability,
making a service worth promoting.
Customer Analysis:
Currently, executives and their assistants are mainly using CP. The top three industries that use CP are

Adding 4700 more daily CP would amount to $38,775 in profits per day, assuming a profit margin

Competition:
Competition for CP lies in the Emergency and Rush services. Emergency services received maximum
speed and was the most costly. Purolator Courier Corporation, Shulman Sky Cab, Delta Dash are all
companies that provide the service. However, the average Emergency service cost was $30, and CPs
cost significantly lower. The average Rush cost was around $10, and although CPs are most
expensive, they are at a competitive price by offering competitive advantages. The most specific
service competitor is U.S. Postal Service s Express Mail, which costs $6.00 per package.
How should FEC market CP? Which industries should FEC focus on?
FEC should market to those who are not Executives, as they already have them as customers, but
rather any and all industries. The Manufacturing and Distributing industry uses the most CP monthly,
and we would like to see the other similar industries use just as much. Any industry that transports
small goods can utilize the service.
The 5 minimum purchase costs $62.50, which creates a barrier for those who are willing and able to
send something within a tight time constraint. Envelopes should be provided for free, and charged
upon the actual service of mailing out the package. Corporations enjoy flexibility. We believe that CPs
should be marketed as a product that is great for reliability and speed, making a point that they

Swot Analysis Of Sainsbury
Operating Profit Margin (OPM) this ratio gives the Sainsbury s management a lot of important
information about the firm profitability, mainly with respects to cost control. A high operating profit
margin means that a company has a good cost control or/ and that sales are increasing faster than
costs, which is the objective of every company.
Sainsbury s operating profit margin increased in 2014 by 0.43% to 4.21% (2013, 3.78%). This means
that every £1 of sale earns a profit of 0.0421 pence in 2014 and 0.0378 in 2013. Sainsbury s increased

Love, And Platotic Aspects Of Love By William Shakespeare
During the English Renaissance, there was a bloom of literature, fueled by the advent of the printing
press and the patronage of the nobility. Beginning with Petrarch s popularization of the Italian form,
the sonnet became the English mainstay for portrayals of love. The progression of the Renaissance
saw the experience of love detailed in many different ways through form, allegory, allusion, and
metaphor. The fashioning of the love object in sonnets varies from writer to writer and progresses
from an outward, ethereal love to an inward love, rooted in reality as the centuries progressed.
Petrarchan love objects are larger than life holy in nature, whilst anti Petrarchan loves are human and
flawed. Poets of this time grappled with the Platonic conventions of love: What does love mean on the
grand scale? What constitutes the ideal experience? Is love a reflection of the holy, or is it a reflection
of our most base human qualities? Each poet crafted their image of the love object in varying ways:
Francesco Petrarch wrote an idol, Edmund Spenser wrote a genuine, yet ideal woman, William
Shakespeare catered to harsh realism, and Lady Mary Wroth wrote of a stormy, imperfect lover.
Petrarch is the father of the sonnet and his fashioning of Laura in his vast sonnet cycle set the first bar
for portrayals of the beloved in English Renaissance literature. As a member of the clergy and a
stringent adherent to the church, Petrarch found his principles and devotion shaken when he beheld

Abortion Is Not Strictly the Woman s Private Matter Essay
Abortion Is Not Strictly the Woman s Private Matter
When it is said that abortion is just a woman s issue, we forget that there are two people involved in
creating a child. Fathers are continually overlooked and disregarded in situations involving abortion.
Many would say that a father is not affected by the woman s choice to have an abortion.
Legally, fathers are responsible for providing prenatal support for their preborn child, but have no
legal rights if the mother decides to terminate the life of that child. Many fathers have gone to court to
try to stop mothers from going through with their abortions. However, according to the courts, when it
comes to abortion, a mother s right to abortion overrides a father s objections. ... Show more content

We know that the baby has a completely different circulatory system than the mother, and often a
different blood type. He or she has a completely different genetic code. We know that by the 21st day
after conception the baby s heart has begun to beat (Tanner 64). Brain waves are detectable by day 40
(Hamlin 20), and movement also begins around this time (Arey). By eight weeks, when a woman
generally discovers she s pregnant, all body systems are present (Hooker). One doctor, operating on an
ectopic pregnancy at eight weeks, discovered an extremely alive, perfectly developed little person,
vigorously swimming in his environment with a natural swimmer s stroke. (Rockwell 11) The preborn
child is unmistakably human, unmistakably alive, and unmistakably distinct from the mother.
Does the baby feel pain in an abortion? The pain mechanism has been found to be functioning in the
preborn child as early as 45 days after conception. Abortion does cause pain (Noonan 213, Reinis 223
235, Collins 922 923). In the film, The Silent Scream, an actual first trimester abortion is seen via
ultrasound. The baby can be seen repeatedly moving to dodge the abortionist s suction instrument, and
her heart rate doubles. As she is dismembered, her mouth opens in a silent scream. Abortion is
violence against preborn children, and against the women in whose bodies the violence takes place.

The characters are from a poor socioeconomic background, but they are still able to find the Christmas
spirit. The wealth of their friendship and the gift of giving make them oblivious to the depression
around them. In one particular scene, the friends are baking fruitcakes. They decide that the cakes are
for friends. Not necessarily neighbor friends: indeed, the larger share are intended for persons we ve
met maybe once, perhaps not at all (Capote). This illustrates their giving nature regardless of their own
dreary circumstances. Buddy is a reflection of Truman Capote himself. Capote s childhood was filled
with misfortunes, but yet he was still able to find peace in his friendship with his cousin.
The character of Buddy s cousin also demonstrates simplicity and finding the good in what you have.
She is small sprightly, like a bantam hen; but due to a long youthful illness, her shoulders are pitifully
hunched (Capote). She is later described as childlike, Buddy says she is still a child (Capote). This
may be some reference to her mental status and that she does not think like an adult, but a child. But
once again, regardless of her less fortunate physical and mental attributes she is still happy and at
peace. Near the end of the story, her and Buddy are out flying the kites that they made for each other.

  • 2. An Analysis Of The Letter From Birmingham Jail I think the Letter from the Birmingham City Jail which was written over 53 years ago, is one of the most brilliant letters I have every read. 1963 was the year Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested and placed in a Birmingham jail because he and others were protesting the treatment of blacks in Birmingham, Alabama. The White court system made an ordered that stated that Martin Luther King could not hold protests in Birmingham. Martin Luther King along with the Rev. Ralph Abernathy decided to form a nonviolent protest in the business section of Birmingham. This was a no, no. The police commissioner Bull Connor lost his bid for mayor during the run off. Losing did not stop Connor. Connor team up with the Police Chief Jamie Moore and they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Titanic Essay Titanic Essay Many people across the world watch films. It is so popular because it puts a story on the screen and into life so that people can see it. People watch films for the entertainment value, or are simply too lazy to read and enjoy the magic of a book. The advantages of watching a film at the cinema rather than on video is the bigger screen, and the surround sound, also the atmosphere. This all adds up and creates a bigger impact than a video. People make films to tell a story or get a message across, such as Pearl Harbour, which tells us the story of a real historical event through the eyes of a fictional love story, very much like Titanic. Or Shrek, which puts a message ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this on Titanic is when they go from the back of the boat to the front. They also use Sound Effect to make what is happening sound more real, such as an explosion or band. They also use backing tracks, which can be used to emphasise the emotion a character is feeling. For example, if it was sad, they might use a love song. They use costume to show you what time something was set it, or the class of the people, particularly shown in Titanic, as Jack is very poor and Rose is rich. The characters who wear the costumes are also very important. They have to look the part and sound the part, not just be able to read the lines. They have to act the way a person of that time would. For my GCSE coursework, I will be writing a Media essay on Titanic, which was directed by James Caremon. It was made in 1997, and was the most expensive film made at the time. It won many awards, and is one of the great love stories told, based on a real historical event. The Titanic was quoted as being Titanic, wasn t just another ship, it was bigger, faster, and more luxurious than any other ship before her. She had two sister ships, The Olympic and The Britannic, all of which were owned by White Star Line, a series of very luxurious ships. It was built in Harland and Wolff Shipyard, and was 882 ft 6 inches, by 92 ft 6 inches. It had 2212 people onboard, 20 lifeboats, which only had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ethical Issue in Pharmacy Ethical issues in the retail pharmaceutical industry: An analysis of the ethical dilemmas faced within Chaguanas Drug Mart Limited Abstract: The ethical duty of a pharmacy is to promote a patient s best interest. However, certain obvious ethical issues will arise. Within any business involved in bulk purchasing the issue of unconscious theft will also occur. The following paper focuses on the application of ethical theories that supports as well as argues the behavior within Chaguanas Drug Mart. Chaguanas Drug Mart was established in 2008 and is no ordinary pharmacy since it provides more than your medical needs such as beautiful unusual gifts. Many customers are relatives or friends of the workers and are aware that the drugs are the only source to relief but do not go to the doctor for the necessary documents since there is easy access to the items such as antibiotics. Those who work in the medical field know that protecting patient safety is the ultimate ethical principle; therefore the argument is twofold where technicians face many ethical dilemmas because the total amount of good minuses the total the amount of bad however Kantian argues that the wrong thing regardless of how justifiable is till the wrong thing. The ethical dilemma is resolved however by placing inventory checks on all prescription drugs within the business which will manage the supply and movement of stock/Inventory. Although this may not completely solve the current issue, it will certainly limit the level of diversion. Dilemma 2 Employee monitoring in the work environment Employee monitoring has emerged as a necessity and is the act of watching and monitoring employees actions during working hours using employer equipment/property (Raposa Mujtaba, 2003). Within the company, employees have disregarded the term staff discount by practicing in unethical behaviour which encompasses stealing the drugstore supplies as well as time theft. • 7. Common Emergency Drug Used For Patients With Severe Allergies Because pharmaceutical companies have so much power over pricing, they have started to raise prices with no motive other than more profit. In recent years, the industry has seen a steep price increase in drugs. These increases, in some cases, seem inexplicable. Regarding this is the recent example of the EpiPen, a common emergency drug used for patients with severe allergies. In the past, the EpiPen was available to patients for as low as 40 dollars. Now the price is almost 600 dollars. (Woodward, Layton) The problem with this is the device has had no fundamentally different changes to it. This means the pharmaceutical company responsible for the EpiPen raised the price for no reason other than more money in the company s pocket. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This however is like saying shoe advertisements are educational, showing people how to cover their feet. (Ridberg et al.) The commercials focus on showing individuals living happy lives, not statistics about the drug or instructions on how to take it. In addition, it is argued that the reason pharmaceutical companies stress ethics in their work is because it would severely damage their profits. However, putting an emphasis on patient care shows an increase in profits. Maung Min, author of Should Pharmaceutical Companies Engage in Corporate Social Responsibility? discusses how Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) impacts pharmaceutical companies revenues. CSR can be defined as the way companies positively impact society, which emphasizes social standards over monetary gain. The findings of this paper show that 96 percent of companies who engage in CSR see it positively impact profitability. (Min 64) Alternatively, pharmaceutical company proponents argue the industry is constantly researching new methods of treatment to better old ones. While true in theory, the reality of pharmaceutical companies is they are not focusing on these new treatments, and instead rebranding drugs already on the market. Instead making a drug from scratch that has an extremely low probability of working, companies choose to make a drug ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Birthcontrol and the Work Of Margaret Sanger Essay Birthcontrol and the Work Of Margaret Sanger Works Cited Missing A free race cannot be born and no woman can call herself free who does not own and control her body. No woman can call herself free until she can choose consciously whether she will or will not be a mother (Sanger A 35). Margaret Sanger (1870 1966)said this in one of her many controversial papers. The name of Margaret Sanger and the issue of birth control have virtually become synonymous. Birth control and the work of Sanger have done a great deal to change the role of woman in society, relationships between men and woman, and the family. I am writing this because I was just minutes ago watching the movie Cider House Rules. I won t go into the plot of the movie, but, to explain my motivation for writing this, I will simply describe one portion of the movie. The scene at issue in my mind right now is one where a fourteen year old girl comes to the orphanage which is the setting for part of the movie. This girl came to the orphanage because it was known in the region as a place that performed abortions. She had had a crude abortion performed in such a way that she had been severely injured (her uterus was punctured by a crochet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the movie, Homer is an orphan, and this may provide an interesting perspective in regards to the status of the fetus. As an unwanted child himself, he empathizes with the unborn children that he refuses to destroy. So far, all we have talked about really is the emotion of the question of abortion. The purpose of this essay (which will not be very long), is to examine these lines of reasoning, and to come to some conclusion about the differing philosophies of these two characters. The doctor s argument is, as I mentioned, very much a utilitarian one, and as you know, this sort of argument doesn t sit well with me (see my Truth essays). Regardless of my perspective, though, the doctor s first argument is one which many people (including some that I greatly respect) accept as a good reason for legalized abortion. The doctor is making the very simple assessment that one death is preferable to two. If the mother dies along with the baby, this is a waste and a shame, therefore he feels as though he is obligated to perform an abortion that will not likely harm the young woman at issue. Homer, on the other hand, takes a deontological stance he believes that his performing an abortion is wrong, and that is as far as his reasoning has to go. So far, the choice between philosophies is simple deontology or utilitarianism. In order to make the choice a bit more relevant, allow me to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I remember sitting in my Language in Society Class thinking Why are we taking a group quiz? He might as well just hand out the A s. But it was much deeper than that. I had to learn how to balance speaking and listening for group participation, in addition to time management. It wasn t like a group project, because we were just working together for one timed class period instead of having days of preparation. These were skills that I came to realize were much more important outside of school. Benefits Of Getting A Job Than High Educated Employees Essay In fall 2016, some 20.5 million students are expected to attend American colleges and universities, constituting an increase of about 5.2 million since fall 2000. The employment rate was higher for those with higher levels of educational attainment. For example, in 2015, the employment rate for 20 to 24 year olds (also referred to as young adults in this indicator) with a bachelor s degree or higher was higher than the rate for young adults with some college but no bachelor s degree (89 vs. 76 percent). As you can see from these facts above, the number of students going to universities is dramatically increasing because employer s demand for high educated employees climbs fast. Although many people, who are motivated by Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg, argue that experience is more important for getting a job than your record at school, others believe that obtaining good grades can aid you in getting more chance of getting great jobs, benefit yourself with advantages such as scholarships and internship or prove that you are passionate with your major. In the first lecture of this course, the importance of a relationship between the teacher and the students was discussed [1]. Building a good relationship in the classroom setting is not only a tool for building a better learning environment, but also a way to make a teacher s work matter. If the relationship between the teacher and the student is bad, usually the student feels pushed out and rejected and therefore develops a bad relationship with the subject and with learning. A large body of research supports the idea that a good teacher student relationship helps the students feel better and have higher academic achievements [2] [5]. A good teacher, one that has a good relationship with his/her students can manage to instill a growth mindset in their students and help them achieve more also in the future, when the said teacher is not present anymore. Building a relationship takes time and effort, as humans do not immediately accept strangers in their lives and don t usually trust others unless that trust is earned. For a teacher, earning the trust of a student can be a very complicated process, based on different experiences and different views on various topics. He thought that without greater acknowledgement of the role ideology, consciousness and cultural hegemony played in society, the dominant capitalist ideology could not be understood and thus its power challenged. • 31. Crime And Punishment Utilitarianism Are there special human beings who are entitled to more rights and privileges than ordinary humans? Rodia s theory in Dostoyevsky s novel, Crime and Punishment, addresses this question. His desire to perform benevolent deeds for society converts him into a strong believer in his theory, influencing him to commit murder. Through Rodia s experiment, the novel proves the theory false. Dostoevsky uses his characterization of Raskolnikov to express criticism of the popular theory, Utilitarianism. Utilitarianism was a widespread theory in Russia during Dostoyevsky s era, a belief that achieving a greater good for the society, in any method, was a moral right. For example, one believes that an evil deed is invalidated by the morally justified outcome ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to Rodia s dual personality, there are many contradictions within his theory. Rodia claims that extraordinary humans commit crimes that are beneficial to society and thus, they have a perfect right to commit breaches of morality and crimes, and the law is not for them (205). These men have a right to take lead in society because they are given extraordinary tasks; at the same time, they are above the ordinary men and can overlook their moral laws because the privileged men s crimes are justified for their moral purposes. At the time of his murder, Rodia s theory is underdeveloped and his crime was an experimentation. When Rodia confesses to Sonia, he says, I wanted to murder without casuistry, to murder for my own sake, for myself alone! I didn t want to lie about it even to myself (329). In truth, Rodia wanted to test out his theory, despite his justifications, and find out if he was an extraordinary human and were given these rights. He desperately wanted to feed his self esteem by placing himself superior to others. However, his psychological battle, the constant guilt, uneasiness, and instability, confirmed that he is was not granted these immortal rights. Ultimately, Rodia accepts the truth he had been rejecting and turns himself in order to free himself from the guilt that captured him. In the end, Rodia had no revolutionary cause to murder the ... • 32. Summary Of President Lyndon Baines Johnson s We Shall... In 1965, the United States of America was almost in chaos due to the Civil Rights Movement, and its often violent responses. However, on March 15 of that year, President Lyndon Baines Johnson spoke to the members of Congress about the importance of Civil Rights to the principles of the Constitution and the values of this country. Johnson also briefly spoke of the bill he planned to present in the coming week. This bill would ensure that African Americans can freely exercise their Constitutional right to vote. The speech, called We Shall Overcome, was not only very effective with its use of ethos, logos, and pathos, but was also very successful in its overall purpose, an argument that no American citizen should be denied their rights due to the color of their skin. Lyndon Baines Johnson s use of ethos, or credibility, in his speech was very simple, but still very powerful. Johnson s credibility simply comes from the fact that, at the time of the speech, he was the President of The United States of America. Although this seems very obvious, he reminds the audience of his power several times throughout the speech by referring to himself as your President (5,6). He also reminds the audience of his power by speaking about a bill that he plans to present, and three bills he has already passed, in order to fix the issue at hand. Although Johnson does well to make sure he is seen as an authority figure who should be listened to, he also does very well to make sure that his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is serious talent being exhibited with these young female rappers and I feel the public just refuse to give their time to even bother with these artists. For a young girl wanting to be a famous artist, it can be dream crushing to realize this is more of an impossible decision. A few female famous artists today can explain how this became a stereotype and made this an impossible career pathway. Even though these stereotypes are partially ruining the careers of potential young talented female rappers, there are some artists who are not contributing to the cause. Due to the fame of certain female rappers, these artists are not trying to stop the stereotype, but are actually embracing them which does not help the younger artists make a name for themselves. • 34. The Effect Of Historical And Theoretical Factors On... Jennifer J. Solorio Bradman University Fall 1 2016 The Influence of Historical and Theoretical Factors Domestic Violence CJCU 416 OL1 Every year in America, there are millions of women who are physically assaulted by their partners (Tjaden Thoennes, 2000). This number is staggering. For the purpose of this literature review, I am defining domestic violence as physical abuse. As domestic violence increases, the need for intervention ever so in demand. Tjaden Thoeness (2000), describe how the widespread occurrence of domestic violence is influenced by historical and theoretical factors and this is evident with domestic violence intervention. Both of these factors encourage options for treatment for the victims and abusers of domestic violence. Kaya Cook (2010), discusses how a well known Nation started a major movement which targeted violence against women. Empowerment of women is a key source in violence intervention. Previously the traditional role of a woman was to known as a homemaker. Educated women were rare to find. As society is growing, women have received more political and social rights and feel more empowered. Women who have access to work and education gain a greater chance of escaping male violence (Kaya Cook, 2010). Factors are education, income, age, drug abuse or abuse history. Prevention tactics at this level are often considered to stimulate attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that in the end reduce violence. Kaya Cook (2010) also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Competition: Competition for CP lies in the Emergency and Rush services. Emergency services received maximum speed and was the most costly. Purolator Courier Corporation, Shulman Sky Cab, Delta Dash are all companies that provide the service. However, the average Emergency service cost was $30, and CPs cost significantly lower. The average Rush cost was around $10, and although CPs are most expensive, they are at a competitive price by offering competitive advantages. The most specific service competitor is U.S. Postal Service s Express Mail, which costs $6.00 per package. How should FEC market CP? Which industries should FEC focus on? FEC should market to those who are not Executives, as they already have them as customers, but rather any and all industries. The Manufacturing and Distributing industry uses the most CP monthly, and we would like to see the other similar industries use just as much. Any industry that transports small goods can utilize the service. The 5 minimum purchase costs $62.50, which creates a barrier for those who are willing and able to send something within a tight time constraint. Envelopes should be provided for free, and charged upon the actual service of mailing out the package. Corporations enjoy flexibility. We believe that CPs should be marketed as a product that is great for reliability and speed, making a point that they

  • 38. Love, And Platotic Aspects Of Love By William Shakespeare During the English Renaissance, there was a bloom of literature, fueled by the advent of the printing press and the patronage of the nobility. Beginning with Petrarch s popularization of the Italian form, the sonnet became the English mainstay for portrayals of love. The progression of the Renaissance saw the experience of love detailed in many different ways through form, allegory, allusion, and metaphor. The fashioning of the love object in sonnets varies from writer to writer and progresses from an outward, ethereal love to an inward love, rooted in reality as the centuries progressed. Petrarchan love objects are larger than life holy in nature, whilst anti Petrarchan loves are human and flawed. Poets of this time grappled with the Platonic conventions of love: What does love mean on the grand scale? What constitutes the ideal experience? Is love a reflection of the holy, or is it a reflection of our most base human qualities? Each poet crafted their image of the love object in varying ways: Francesco Petrarch wrote an idol, Edmund Spenser wrote a genuine, yet ideal woman, William Shakespeare catered to harsh realism, and Lady Mary Wroth wrote of a stormy, imperfect lover. Petrarch is the father of the sonnet and his fashioning of Laura in his vast sonnet cycle set the first bar for portrayals of the beloved in English Renaissance literature. As a member of the clergy and a stringent adherent to the church, Petrarch found his principles and devotion shaken when he beheld ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abortion Is Not Strictly the Woman s Private Matter Essay Abortion Is Not Strictly the Woman s Private Matter When it is said that abortion is just a woman s issue, we forget that there are two people involved in creating a child. Fathers are continually overlooked and disregarded in situations involving abortion. Many would say that a father is not affected by the woman s choice to have an abortion. Legally, fathers are responsible for providing prenatal support for their preborn child, but have no legal rights if the mother decides to terminate the life of that child. Many fathers have gone to court to try to stop mothers from going through with their abortions. However, according to the courts, when it comes to abortion, a mother s right to abortion overrides a father s objections. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We know that the baby has a completely different circulatory system than the mother, and often a different blood type. He or she has a completely different genetic code. We know that by the 21st day after conception the baby s heart has begun to beat (Tanner 64). Brain waves are detectable by day 40 (Hamlin 20), and movement also begins around this time (Arey). By eight weeks, when a woman generally discovers she s pregnant, all body systems are present (Hooker). One doctor, operating on an ectopic pregnancy at eight weeks, discovered an extremely alive, perfectly developed little person, vigorously swimming in his environment with a natural swimmer s stroke. (Rockwell 11) The preborn child is unmistakably human, unmistakably alive, and unmistakably distinct from the mother. Does the baby feel pain in an abortion? The pain mechanism has been found to be functioning in the preborn child as early as 45 days after conception. Abortion does cause pain (Noonan 213, Reinis 223 235, Collins 922 923). In the film, The Silent Scream, an actual first trimester abortion is seen via ultrasound. The baby can be seen repeatedly moving to dodge the abortionist s suction instrument, and her heart rate doubles. As she is dismembered, her mouth opens in a silent scream. Abortion is violence against preborn children, and against the women in whose bodies the violence takes place. What about a woman s right to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The wealth of their friendship and the gift of giving make them oblivious to the depression around them. In one particular scene, the friends are baking fruitcakes. They decide that the cakes are for friends. Not necessarily neighbor friends: indeed, the larger share are intended for persons we ve met maybe once, perhaps not at all (Capote). This illustrates their giving nature regardless of their own dreary circumstances. Buddy is a reflection of Truman Capote himself. Capote s childhood was filled with misfortunes, but yet he was still able to find peace in his friendship with his cousin. The character of Buddy s cousin also demonstrates simplicity and finding the good in what you have. She is small sprightly, like a bantam hen; but due to a long youthful illness, her shoulders are pitifully hunched (Capote). She is later described as childlike, Buddy says she is still a child (Capote). This may be some reference to her mental status and that she does not think like an adult, but a child. But once again, regardless of her less fortunate physical and mental attributes she is still happy and at peace. Near the end of the story, her and Buddy are out flying the kites that they made for each other. Though these may seem like ordinary gifts to many, to them they are the best gifts they have ever ...
