Trash Andy Mulligan Analysis
Andy Mulligan s Trash deals with challenging issues, including children living in third world
countries and poverty. Mulligan uses language techniques as well as rich characters and setting
descriptions to help educate readers about poverty. Language techniques, such as sensory language
and imagery language, and setting descriptions were used to make the reader feel the impact of these
situations. Mulligan also uses rich characters in the novel to assist in informing the reader about
poverty and issues in third world countries.
Throughout the novel Trash , Andy Mulligan uses language techniques such as imagery to establish
rich settings of Behala. For example, when Mulligan was describing the scene of Smokey Mountain,
Mulligan described the Mountain as, It s a place they call Behala, and it s a rubbish town. Three years
ago it was Smokey Mountain, but Smokey Mountain got so bad that they closed it down and shifted us
along the road. The description Mulligan used about Smokey Mountain gives the reader a clear, rich
image and notes the dangerous condition that Raphael, his friends and family go through. Another
example of imagery, which Mulligan used, is the scene of Rat s (Jun Jun) hole when Mulligan
described the setting of where Rat lived. He described it as The walls and ceiling were damp brick,
and there were cracks everywhere. That was where the rats came in and out, and I guessed there were
nests just on the other side. Mulligan made this simple but very

Essay On Law Of Human Nature
The Law of Human Nature is often forgotten about but is a very important topic because it explains
the way that God gave us our own ability to choose between right and wrong, in other words in the
sense of what people actually do, compared to what they should do. There are things in life that we
want to do and there are also things in life that we have to do or need to do and the law of nature will
tell us what we need to do. Sometimes we need to follow our instincts and sometimes we do not. The
Law tells us what is right and wrong if we listen to it. Some will argue saying they don t believe in a
real right and wrong. For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires,
they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the
law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts
accuse or even excuse them on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men
by Christ Jesus. Romans 2:14 16.1 The Benson s Bible Commentary says, That is, what the law was to
the Jews, they are by the light and grace of God to themselves, namely, a rule of life. All the ancient
Greek commentators, as Whitby has shown, interpreted this passage not of the Gentiles who had been
converted to Christianity, but of those Gentiles who had not been favored with a revealed law, and
therefore were neither proselytes to Judaism nor Christianity. 2 The Law of

Analysis Of The Book The Greatest Ghost
Chinese ghost stories, unlike American Horror Story and Japanese Sadako, never fail to fascinate us. It
gives people a mysterious feeling, accompanied with a slight sense of horror, yet romantic and
touching. In the eyes of westerns, ghost is always associated with the word haunted or demon ,
nothing but clichés about spirit making fun of people and exorcist help people out. However, Liao
Zhai Zhi Yi, the greatest ghost story compilation in Chinese history, is far from exorcism and scary
scenes, on the contrary, it largely describes beautiful bitter sweet love stories between scholars and
female ghosts, which they played very important roles in this book. Therefore, this paper will mainly
discuss the development of the ghost literature genre, the roles of scholars and female ghosts and their
importance in the example of the Magic Sword and the Magic Bag, and some common themes in Liao
Zhai.
Ghost goes a long way in Chinese history, Ghost goes a long way in Chinese history and depict
different characteristic under different times. From the crazy tales of earliest Classic of Mountains and
Seas to In Search of Supernatural, to those various forms of ghosts described in Zhi Guai, Chinese
ghost story has a profound history, and it is mostly based on different religious beliefs, which forms a
unique and splendid supernatural/ghost culture. People began to form the ideas of good and evil from
the Xia Dynasty, and soon the simple fact, which ghost is people s afterlife, has

Different Personalities in Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli Essay
How far can you go to lose yourself? What distance are we willing to tred to dim the glow of your
own starlight? In Jerry Spinelli s Stargirl several characters have vastly different personalities. Or do
they? Is Leo Borlock really different from Hillary Kimble? Do they not both care for normality? For
the attention of others? When Stargirl Caraway arrives, a butterfly engulfed by mist, the world shifted
and grasped for an opportunity to hold onto something... divergent. An anomaly so far down their
path, they could hardly reach it. So they grow to hate it, dead grass rising but never quite touching the
soft delicacy of Stargirl s petals. If something can t be understood, it is not good enough to be loved.
That s how we ve all been raised; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is society as a whole telling us the individuality can be reached while raising you to conform to its
generalized population. In the previously cited book, Stargirl Caraway embodies this idea. Leo
Borlock, on the other hand, embodies the rest of us. As children, our minds are our own, and we
follow the ways of this extrovert girl that thinks deserts dance and enchanted places are a reality.
While, as we grow society has unexplicitly forced us to follow the group, because they have really not
given us any other options. This can be related to Robert Frost s poem Nothing Gold Can Stay in
which children are unique and golden, although slowly they begin to see things with the rest of the
world, through a single point of view, and lose their individual color.
Furthermore, any person s individuality is delicate. And extremely fragile. A friend or loved one can
very easily change someone, even if it s very slight. As kids, we have idols. People we deeply admire
and wish to be like. We do anything, even while growing up, to bend ourselves to become what we
feel is comfortably close to our hero. This is why we large populations torturing their bodies
physically and mentally to achieve their goal. We re all little people pleasers fighting relentlessly for a
taste of feeling perfect. On and on we struggle for approval, and we don t even know whose. Leo, for
example, would do anything to receive approval from Stargirl, the girl he loves. As she proved

Executive Summary
Prior to the merger between BP and Amoco in 1998, both companies had very similar operating
characteristics and performance. Both companies engaged primarily in the same three businesses and
experienced close to the same percentages of revenue and percentages of operating income for each of
those businesses. A key difference however waswere that BP concentrated their operations
predominantly in the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe whereas Amoco concentrated their
operations heavily in the United States. Furthermore, before 1992, BP experienced drastically

Again similar to exploration and production, Amoco operated solely in the United States. Both BP and
Amoco had a very large number of retail outlets in which the companies sold petroleum products to,
8,200 and 9,300 outlets respectively. However, uUnlike exploration and production activities however,
refining and marketing activities accounted for a large percentage of revenues, 81 and 63 percent
respectively, but only a small percentage of company operating income, 21 and 19 percent
respectively. Realizing that this segment was not very profitable in comparison to exploration and
production, BP made the decision to reduce its interests in refining and marketing. The third business
that both BP and Amoco separately engaged in prior to the merger was the production of
petrochemicals. BP had operations for this segment more widespread than the others and distributed to
over 60 countries. Amoco, on the other hand, concentrated heavily in the United States staying
consistent with the other two businesses. Revenue percentages for petrochemicals were very low for
both companies, but operating income percentages were as well; 7 and 11 percent respectively for BP
and 16 and 16 percent respectively for Amoco. There are a few differences in the pre merger incentive
programs for executives at BP and Amoco. Prior to the merger, the compensation of Amoco

Srebrenca Genocide Essay
In 1997, the world witnessed the second most horrific crime in eastern Europe since the Holocaust:
The Srebrenica massacre. Throughout the course of 11 days, over 8,000 Bosniak Bosnian Muslim
males, specifically those who were of age to join the military, were rounded up, and killed by the
Bosnian Serb army. The army s defense for their actions was that they were trying to reunite Serb
territory after the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina became its own state. Despite this claim, the
ICTY still charged Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic, two of the men who spearheaded the ethnic
cleansing campaign in Bosnia, with war crimes including genocide. However, scholars debate whether
Srebrenica, albeit horrible, and other instances like itself, being labeled a genocide is a misapplication
of the term. Due to the technical legal definition of what constitutes as a genocide, many crimes like
Srebrenica that would morally be viewed as one, may not be in the ... Show more content on

As defined by the UN, a genocide is the intentional destruction of a whole or part of a racial, ethnical,
or religious group. The problem people see with calling Srebrenica a genocide is the intention behind
the crime. According to William Schabas, author of Genocide in International Law: The Crime of
Crimes, prosecutors had to stretch the definition of genocide in order to prove that Bosnia Serb leaders
had intentions to eliminate Bosniaks. (M.S, Genocide) Although this may be true, since their reason
was to unify Serb land, we cannot disregard the fact that they used ethnic cleansing to make this
happen, which in turn eliminated Bosniaks from Srebrenica. Is it then morally, and legally right to say
that the ends justify the means in this case, in the sense that it would not be considered a genocide? I
would like to think not, especially with a crime that took the lives of more than 8,000 people and

Polio Is An Incapacitating And Potentially Fatal...
What is Polio? Poliomyelitis, commonly referred to as Polio, is an incapacitating and potentially fatal,
infectious virus. Although it is rare to see someone suffering from the disease, in some countries, such
as Nigeria, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, the virus still exists. (Kids Health 1) Before the first vaccine
was created, Polio was a threat to all Americans across the nation. The dangerous virus attacked
people from all age ranges and left permanent damage on all of its victims. Luckily, at the peak of its
devastation, a man named Jonas Salk created a vaccine against this catastrophic virus. This vaccine
not only marked the downfall of Polio in the United States, but in a majority of nations throughout the
world as well.
Poliovirus first enters the human body through the mouth. Next, the virus resides in either the person s
throat or intestines. For the virus to spread, it would have to be transmitted via feces and/or by the
droplets of an infected individual. (Kids Health 1) Only human beings can be affected by the
poliovirus. (Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention 2)
Signs and symptoms of Poliomyelitis include: fever, sore throat, headache, vomiting, fatigue, back
pain or stiffness, neck pain or stiffness, pain or stiffness in the arms or legs, muscle weakness or
tenderness, and meningitis. (Mayo Clinic 2) But, even if an individual does not possess any of the
common signs or symptoms of Polio, the individual can still have poliovirus in them and could

Sepsis Early Detection and Treatment Severe Sepsis affects 750,000 Americans and causes more than
200,000 deaths annually. Sepsis is a complex condition that results from an infectious process that
represents the body s response to infection and involves systemic inflammatory and cellular events
that result in altered circulation and coagulation, endothelial dysfunction and impaired tissue perfusion
(Kleinpell, 2005). Associated mortality rates with sepsis in the United States have remained largely
unchanged for several decades. Through an international collaboration known as the ... Show more

Treatment of Sepsis
As stated in Rivers, Nguyed, Havstad, Ressler, Muzzin, Knolich et al. (2001):
Early hemodynamic assessment on the basis of physical findings, vital signs, central venous pressure,
and urinary output fails to detect persistent global tissue hypoxia. A more definitive resuscitation
strategy involves goal oriented manipulation of cardiac preload, afterload, and contractility to achieve
a balance between systemic oxygen delivery and oxygen demand. End points used to confirm the
achievement of such a balance (hereafter called resuscitation end points) include normalized values
for mixed venous oxygen saturation, arterial lactate concentration, base deficit, and pH. Mixed venous
oxygen saturation has been shown to be a surrogate for the cardiac index as a target for hemodynamic
therapy. In cases in which the insertion of a pulmonary artery catheter is impractical, venous oxygen
saturation can be measured in the central circulation (p. 1368).
The focus for the general care nurse outside of the ICU is to be able to recognize sepsis and to initiate
appropriate interventions in an appropriate amount of time. Nurses need to facilitate the transfer of the
patient to an ICU as urgently as possible. Once sepsis is suspected, it is important to closely monitor
patients for signs and symptoms of progression with increasing frequency of assessments. While
awaiting transfer of a patient to the ICU

Why It Is Important To Greek Art Essay
Excuse me, my friends for bringing up this topic at such a busy time, but I feel like this a topic that
must be addressed. For many years, Athens was the place for culture. Lycon, you remember those
days where you would throw those fantastic parties! Meletus father was a playwright. Look where it
brought them. To this assembly. My fellow Athenians, we must support the arts in order to become the
center place for Greek culture, and so we do not become idiots like our neighbors, the Spartans. Those
in poverty need entertainment. Let s walk through the life of a poor person. First, they get up in the
morning, usually very early, and start to head off for their workplace. At their workplace, they toil and
toil away until it is time to go home. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imagine a paved road, going straight across the world until it reaches the end of the earth and falls off.
There is only one way to go. A person who follows this way will become a follower, and will not be
able to make decisions, and will eventually reach the end of the earth and fall off, his voice never to be
heard from again. Now, imagine that the road has many branching pathways, one leading to
righteousness, one leading to justice, one leading to a naked man taking a shower. These are all
choices that we can make. When a person appreciates music, their mind is opened up so that they can
make decisions that are more thought out. Take Crito for example. As a follower of Socrates, and rich
man, you must have some musical training. He used his musical training to develop a new way of
eating pork skins! Instead of getting his hands dirty with, he used a piece of paper to grab his pork
skin and eat it! However, on a serious note, if music is supported, then we will have many people in
our assembly who do have different views, and who do think their ideas out before presenting them.
That, in turn, will lead to a fairer democracy, for we will have more ideas that are of the

Essay about The Stagecraft of Rosencrantz and...
The Stagecraft of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
...a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more...
This quote from Macbeth is a perfect summary of the plot of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.
The dramatisation of the lives of these two unremarkable and virtually extraneous characters from
Hamlet is an unlikely foundation for one of the most...engaging of post war plays (Daily Telegraph).
However, as with Samuel Beckett s absurdist play Waiting for Godot the originality of Stoppard s
concept is not enough in itself to create a masterpiece and it is the brilliance of the stagecraft and
writing that establishes this play as a classic.
The presentation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first instance occurs after they have been ordered to find Hamlet, now a convicted murderer.
They, understandably scared, attempt to find him but after much wandering and procrastination arrive
in exactly the same place they started. A fitting punch line to the visual joke is Guildenstern s
comment Well, at last we re getting somewhere . The second example transpires immediately
afterwards when they construct a trap for Hamlet (two belts held taunt before an entranceway) he
evades this by simply walking around it and the two men enhance their folly by saying there s a limit
to what two people can do . The farcical quality of this piece of action is mirrored later on in Act III
when the Player and his troupe appear on the boat. Ros and Guil are alerted to their presence by the
now familiar pipe music and Rosencrantz is startled that the music it is coming from three barrels on
stage. As soon as the music stops the lid of the middle barrel flies open and the Player s head pops out.
He climbs out, followed by his entire company and their instruments. This stage direction is extremely
effective and droll and brings an interesting edge to the use of space.
The actions of the other characters in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead cleverly intertwine the
play with Hamlet as we see not only Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in their moments offstage, but also
characters such as the Player, Hamlet and Ophelia. The Player and his company are the

Causes Of Madness In Macbeth
What began as Hamlet s foolishness of pretend madness becomes his reality. In the end, the insane
Hamlet is unaware of the complete and utter chaos that he inflicts on himself and everyone he loves.
Instead of controlling his antic disposition, it controls him resulting in tragedy and death.
Ophelia has a unique form of madness since it is a mixture of love and hate. It is questionable if
Ophelia s madness aroused from her father death, from Hamlets rejection or perhaps from both
possible reasons. William Hazlitt (1817) considers that Ophelia is a character almost too exquisitely
touching to be dwelt upon. and calls her a flower too soon faded. Her father and brother believe that
Hamlet would use her, that he would take her virginity and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As a result to his acts Macbeth goes on to witness several hallucinations. The first hallucination was
one of a ghostly dagger in Act II scene i. Macbeth sees the dagger and says, Is this a dagger which I
see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee (II.1.33 34). A dagger is what
Macbeth used to kill Duncan, so this was a way of foreshadowing what was to come.
It comes to a point where Macbeth begins to see the people that he killed, like Banquo during the
dinner party. It is at the dinner party where Macbeth reaches his climax of madness; standing on the
dinner table, and shouting and cursing, and it is where everyone starts to realize that something is
wrong with Macbeth.
Anger and insanity are joined to illustrate the themes, and they both cloud the judgment of characters
in various ways. In Macbeth, madness is an expression of guilt, and In Hamlet it is mostly an
expression of revenge.
When Shakespeare uses madness in these plays it deepens the drama and the plot. He usually has
more than one character display madness. When this happens, those who tend to go mad may become
characters that are much more interesting and thereby worthy of representation in drama because they
help to develop the plot in an interesting way since mad people tend to act

Power Series Method For Solving Linear Differential Equations
ABSTRACT In this work, we studied that Power Series Method is the standard basic method for
solving linear differential equations with variable coefficients. The solutions usually take the form of
power series; this explains the name Power series method. We review some special second order
ordinary differential equations. Power series Method is described at ordinary points as well as at
singular points (which can be removed called Frobenius Method) of differential equations. We present
a few examples on this method by solving special second order ordinary differential equations.
Key words ; Power series, differential equations, Frobenius Method, Lengendre polynomials
1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The attempt to solve physical problems led gradually to Mathematical models involving an equation
in which a function and its derivatives play important role. However, the theoretical development of
this new branch of Mathematics Differential Equations has its origin rooted in a small number of
Mathematical problems. These problems and their solutions led to an independent discipline with the
solution of such equations an end in itself (Sasser, 2005).
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The research work seeks to find solutions of second order ordinary differential equations using the
power series method.
1.3 AIM AND OBJECTIVES
The aim and objectives of the study are to: Describe the power series method. Use it to solve linear

Irony In The Importance Of Being Earnest
Many dramas are told in a specific way in order to make a point. Being written as a comedy, The
Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde adheres the idea that drama should never teach but only
entertain. The play ridicules the two protagonists Algernon Moncrieff and John Worthing who carry a
double life. They lie in order to have everything they want, and also to be able to conquer the women
they love. John with his desire to marry Gwendolen Fairfax faces the difficulty of achieving her
mother s consent, and most important has to deal with the trouble his lies has caused. Same situation
applies to Algernon who wants to marry Cecily Cardew, and who faces the difficulty of confronting
the truth about who he really is. The play is mostly amusing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

English Language Learning Program Analysis
Candelaria Lopez tried to learn English before, but it did not work. She could not always make it to
class on time or at all, and even when she could, it was hard to find the energy to sit through a three

twenty years, she was still not comfortable holding a conversation in English as a Mexican immigrant.
That changed after the state of New York offered a unique English language learning program for

overpowering our youth and taking over our world. People have become reliant on all different kinds
of technology and can t live everyday life with out using some kind of technology whether it s a

believe that parties without bounce houses just aren t as much fun. That s why we offer a large
selection of them for you to choose from. When it comes to party equipment rentals, the bounce house
is one of the most popular. There s good reason for this. Children are active, they love to jump and
bounce, when you give them a safe area for this activity, they are kept busy. This keeps them from
uttering the words that parents dread, I m bored won t be heard when kids have a bounce house to play

Insane-Personal Narrative
I curse the amount of street lights there are and go around to the side of the house, careful to duck into

have to analyze my motives, what moved me from point A to point B, I would say it was the smirk on

The Theme Of Immorality In A Clockwork Orange
Imagine every night being the blackest of nights, where even the police do not stop the criminals
lurking in the corners. This is the world in Anthony Burgess s A Clockwork Orange, where a
dystopian society in which juvenile delinquents roam free to terrorize the night is chronicled. Your
Humble Narrator, Alex DeLarge, is a member of this appalling culture of teenagers. Over the course of
the novel, he performs unspeakable acts of ultraviolence with his droogs, which land him behind bars
in Staja, the state jail, for a prescribed fourteen years. After failing to reform, Alex receives an
experimental corrective cure called Ludovico s Technique, which induces a vicious physical reaction
to acts of violence. When finally healed of his violent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Alex DeLarge displays immorality through flagrant acts of evil, the Minister of the Interior
takes a more subtle approach with his wrongdoings. The curing of delinquents by Ludovico s
Technique is the primary action that presents the Minister s immorality. Although the citizens in the
dystopia believe the new method will aid in criminals reform, it is clearly only a tactic for the Minister
of the Interior to regain his position in the government by netting public support. The reform is so
heavily advertised that Alex refers to the newspaper as the Government paper. While reading he sees
the policy for what it really is, which is portrayed by, ...it was this Minister of Inferior or Interior. It
seemed that he had been doing a bit of boasting, looking forward to a nice crime free era... (Burgess
149). It is fitting that one of the Minister s victims would be one to see through the man s façade of
morality. The fake guise put on to fool the public into support is a clear example of The Minister of
the Interior s immorality. Between Alex s heinous acts and the Governments clear lies, human
immorality is an obvious theme in this novel. The theme of fate also makes an indistinguishable
appearance in A Clockwork Orange, which is brought to life by the outcomes of Alex DeLarge s
raucous life. The first demonstration of fate is the result Alex s criminal

loved how they divided the exhibit into four sections, which were Earthquakes, Volcanic eruptions,

gameplay that dictates what makes a 4X Strategy game successful?
Choose your race wisely.Choose your race wisely.
First and foremost, Galactic Inheritors should not be the first game anyone plays within the 4X
Strategy genre the player will become easily frustrated. When the game is started, it throws you into

If a player is looking for a place to start within the genre, then I d recommend StarDrive, the tutorials

genre.
As far as story lines go within this genre, Galactic Inheritors shines and sets itself apart from other
titles when it comes to story. If a player is seeking for depth with a story, then Galactic Inheritors is
designed with that in mind. It s a lore filled universe that is telling a story and that will warrant
multiple playthroughs if someone wants to experience everything that the story has to offer.
If story isn t your main concern and are more interested in the UI, gameplay, features, and ships, then
Galactic Civilizations III is probably more what you are looking for. Even though Galactic Inheritors

Rio de Janeiro is a seaside city in Brazil. It is the second largest city in Brazil and third largest

The Philosophy Of Classroom Management
Theoretical Introduction  Philosophy of Classroom Management When I think of my future
classroom, I imagine it to a home. I plan for my students and I to be a big family , and it will still be a
learning environment. While I am teaching a lesson I would like for my students to be quite when they
should be listening and participating when it is time for them to participate. I am there to guide their
learning, the students will be allowed to share, correct, and exchange information when the time is
appropriate. I will have the traditional teaching style which is the students paying attention to the
teacher, then once the students seem to understand the content they will then be able to move around
and interact with other student in either group discussions or at the learning centers throughout the
classroom. My classroom will be nice and bright to keep up the positive energy, and it will still be
conducted as a learning environment for my students, and they will understand that everything that
they learn in my classroom will travel with them till they are old, and they will be able to understand
why they are in school and what their purpose is in life.  Assumptions about the Nature of Young
People and Learning Every young person wants to satisfy their basic needs which usually tends to be
power, love, freedom and fun. They always want to be in control of their selves and the area around
them. Children will misbehave when they feel like the area is too strict around them,

To me, theatre is a solar eclipse. Everyone knows about it. There are pictures and videos all attempting

of a solar eclipse, just like a recording of a show, can never encapsulate the wonder from experiencing

fell in love with it.
I started engaging in theatre in sixth grade, playing a nun in the ensemble of The Sound of Music. My

When I returned to reality, I thought about the millions of lives and stories contained on Manhattan

not because of its theaters or skyscrapers or parks, but because of its people. I always say that cities

John Aaronovitch s Voodoo Histories
This has been a very controversial topic for centuries, so David Aaronovitch decided to write his from
the book Voodoo Histories, the author emphasizes that we as humans, dramatize and make up myths
of how we think the story would have gone. We have this perception that there is always an answer or
a reasoning for everything. He stated that we use paranoia as to make ourselves feel as though we are
important and have something to say about our lives. The author viewed as the events in our lives
were just a reason to be talked about but also the fear of not being talked about, is what people fear the
most. He mostly uses his knowledge to inform the readers of his thoughts on conspiracy and the 21st
century. point of view on this informative subject. The author values that we as the general audience
dramatize everything by nature, no matter how small the stories are. He also emphasizes the word
paranoia throughout the book, because that is what he believes the general audience will take away
from the idea of conspiracy. Conspiracy can be such a conflict with how we perceive the world around
us. From reading this article one can see that how we process the thought of a tragic event, we make
our stories how we want them to end. That is where, David Aaronovitch argues that conspiracy does
not have power but the idea of conspiracy gives it power, he supported this by using these terms:
sarcastic tone, allusion, persuasive appeals, general diction, and logically organized.

The Effects Of Muscle And On The Regeneration Of Muscle Essay
The extensive research provided determines whether simple tasks such as stretches, exercise, or
changes in diet or nutrition can be a factor on the regeneration of muscle. More so in athletes than non
athletes, muscle tears are extremely common. Yet, when viewing muscle regeneration, it doesn t only
occur during injuries. Individuals who lift weights constantly tear their muscle, but in a good way.
Lifting heavy weights cause microscopic tears in the muscle. By doing this, it allows the muscle to
regenerate and grow back stronger than it once was (Annigan). Injuries, and weight lifting both
involve the slightly similar processes of muscle generation, but include recovery at different rates, as
well as an even more complex process within full tears of the muscle fiber. When observing both
situations, it is troublesome to conclude whether care for the muscle improves muscle regeneration
rates. Multiple ways to aid a muscle tears exist, but the area with more focus is the R.I.C.E. method.
This will be explained even more as to how it could benefit those who are victims of this injury.
Introduction
Muscle tears are a common injury amongst athletes and normal people, yet tend to have a huge impact
depending on the severity. The primary functions of skeletal musculature are locomotor activity,
postural behavior, and breathing. However, skeletal muscle is susceptible to injury after direct trauma

the medieval time till this day; Commercial law has been constantly developing by adapting new
principles due the continuous growth in the commercial transactions; in order a to fit and match the
sellers and buyers needs in our modern societies. In addition the harmonization of the principles and

Abstract
Rainfall induced landslide hazards in Kenya represents a major challenge and remain an important
issue in disaster management especially in Kenya s central province region where the effects are very
common with the onset of El nin ̃o rains. The main aim of this study is to develop a rainfall induced
landslide probability map for Kenya s central province. In order to achieve this, process based
methods were used to map landslide areas using the following factors: slope, rainfall, land cover
change,Normalized DifferenceVegetation Index (NDVI)change, Curvature, watershed, and soil
characteristic including: type, texture, soil bulk density, Base Saturation, and Total Water Available
Distribution Map. The minimum conditions were set for each factor for landslide occurrence. Slope
stability mapping was done to determine the stable areas and thus derive the probability of landslide
occurrence. Statistical methods were then employed by means of weights of evidence to achieve the
probability weights for each factor considered to cause landslides. The factors were then overlaid
using the probability

Relationship Between The Body And The City s Building
The symposium then explored the relationship between the body and the city s building in more depth
with Adam Greenhalgh s paper Body/Building: New York City around 1910. The associate curator of
the National Gallery of Art in Washington presented once more Manhattan as a living body, and his
interpretation of Excavations at night as an autopsy of the city conveys a powerful image of the city
being exposed and vulnerable like Miss Bentham. Mr Greenhalgh confessed that he tends to see the
grim side of Bellows, therefore his interpretation of his paintings does have a darker interpretation as
he desires to seek for a deeper and darker meaning than just the simple representation of a reality. His

Arguably Marin suffers the influences of the European futurists who are just emerging in Europe
during this period, which can imply that Bellows, like other Ashcanners and the French
Impressionists, did involuntarily start the concept of dynamism and its application in their paintings.
From the macabre description of New York and some of his inhabitants and the thermodynamic of
some of Bellows paintings, the symposium proceeded under a different note that still analysed the
body in relation to movement, in particular the female body in commercial art. Professor Jennifer
Greenhill presented her paper Commercial Illustration s Immaterial Bodies which focused on the
commercial artist Coles Phillips and this imagery for the mass press where design is vital to attract any
potential buyers. It was illuminating to discover this artist and some of his most characteristic works
created with a fade away technique where the body of women disappears in the background so
dematerialising their bodies. Prof Greenhill provided an excellent overview of the artist as well as his
technique and showed many eye catching images that are still incredibly powerful in terms of graphic
and design. Coles Phillips was a lawyer, a painter, but most importantly a graphic designer and his
preferred technique was the watercolour; his pictorial technique consists in

Personal Behavior Change
Everyone has different challenge in his/her life ,and he/she may have different view on the same thing.
Therefore, people will have different goals which they are eager to achieve. Based on what my life
looks like and what I need in my life, my behavior change is to exercise at least one hour every day.
The reasons why I choose this goal are because I want to spend some time relaxing from my daily life,
and get the balance between education and occupation. Moreover, I expect to burn the fat in my body
because I spend very little time for workout since I got a job. When I planned to accomplish this
behavior change, I knew that challenges or difficulties would appear, I could not avoid them and I
could not finish it easily. But I am the kind of person who likes challenge and I am not afraid of it.
Therefore, I chose this behavior change. During the process of this behavior change, I met a lot of
difficulties and I learn how to get balance well in my life. The first and the biggest difficulty is time
because the time availability is limit for me. Because I have two summer classes and I need to work

challenges for me. But I would reduce the time for working or others so that everything can get

  • 2. Trash Andy Mulligan Analysis Andy Mulligan s Trash deals with challenging issues, including children living in third world countries and poverty. Mulligan uses language techniques as well as rich characters and setting descriptions to help educate readers about poverty. Language techniques, such as sensory language and imagery language, and setting descriptions were used to make the reader feel the impact of these situations. Mulligan also uses rich characters in the novel to assist in informing the reader about poverty and issues in third world countries. Throughout the novel Trash , Andy Mulligan uses language techniques such as imagery to establish rich settings of Behala. For example, when Mulligan was describing the scene of Smokey Mountain, Mulligan described the Mountain as, It s a place they call Behala, and it s a rubbish town. Three years ago it was Smokey Mountain, but Smokey Mountain got so bad that they closed it down and shifted us along the road. The description Mulligan used about Smokey Mountain gives the reader a clear, rich image and notes the dangerous condition that Raphael, his friends and family go through. Another example of imagery, which Mulligan used, is the scene of Rat s (Jun Jun) hole when Mulligan described the setting of where Rat lived. He described it as The walls and ceiling were damp brick, and there were cracks everywhere. That was where the rats came in and out, and I guessed there were nests just on the other side. Mulligan made this simple but very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On Law Of Human Nature The Law of Human Nature is often forgotten about but is a very important topic because it explains the way that God gave us our own ability to choose between right and wrong, in other words in the sense of what people actually do, compared to what they should do. There are things in life that we want to do and there are also things in life that we have to do or need to do and the law of nature will tell us what we need to do. Sometimes we need to follow our instincts and sometimes we do not. The Law tells us what is right and wrong if we listen to it. Some will argue saying they don t believe in a real right and wrong. For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus. Romans 2:14 16.1 The Benson s Bible Commentary says, That is, what the law was to the Jews, they are by the light and grace of God to themselves, namely, a rule of life. All the ancient Greek commentators, as Whitby has shown, interpreted this passage not of the Gentiles who had been converted to Christianity, but of those Gentiles who had not been favored with a revealed law, and therefore were neither proselytes to Judaism nor Christianity. 2 The Law of ... • 4. Analysis Of The Book The Greatest Ghost Chinese ghost stories, unlike American Horror Story and Japanese Sadako, never fail to fascinate us. It gives people a mysterious feeling, accompanied with a slight sense of horror, yet romantic and touching. In the eyes of westerns, ghost is always associated with the word haunted or demon , nothing but clichés about spirit making fun of people and exorcist help people out. However, Liao Zhai Zhi Yi, the greatest ghost story compilation in Chinese history, is far from exorcism and scary scenes, on the contrary, it largely describes beautiful bitter sweet love stories between scholars and female ghosts, which they played very important roles in this book. Therefore, this paper will mainly discuss the development of the ghost literature genre, the roles of scholars and female ghosts and their importance in the example of the Magic Sword and the Magic Bag, and some common themes in Liao Zhai. Ghost goes a long way in Chinese history, Ghost goes a long way in Chinese history and depict different characteristic under different times. From the crazy tales of earliest Classic of Mountains and Seas to In Search of Supernatural, to those various forms of ghosts described in Zhi Guai, Chinese ghost story has a profound history, and it is mostly based on different religious beliefs, which forms a unique and splendid supernatural/ghost culture. People began to form the ideas of good and evil from the Xia Dynasty, and soon the simple fact, which ghost is people s afterlife, has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Different Personalities in Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli Essay How far can you go to lose yourself? What distance are we willing to tred to dim the glow of your own starlight? In Jerry Spinelli s Stargirl several characters have vastly different personalities. Or do they? Is Leo Borlock really different from Hillary Kimble? Do they not both care for normality? For the attention of others? When Stargirl Caraway arrives, a butterfly engulfed by mist, the world shifted and grasped for an opportunity to hold onto something... divergent. An anomaly so far down their path, they could hardly reach it. So they grow to hate it, dead grass rising but never quite touching the soft delicacy of Stargirl s petals. It is society as a whole telling us the individuality can be reached while raising you to conform to its generalized population. In the previously cited book, Stargirl Caraway embodies this idea. Leo Borlock, on the other hand, embodies the rest of us. As children, our minds are our own, and we follow the ways of this extrovert girl that thinks deserts dance and enchanted places are a reality. While, as we grow society has unexplicitly forced us to follow the group, because they have really not given us any other options. This can be related to Robert Frost s poem Nothing Gold Can Stay in which children are unique and golden, although slowly they begin to see things with the rest of the world, through a single point of view, and lose their individual color. Furthermore, any person s individuality is delicate. And extremely fragile. A friend or loved one can very easily change someone, even if it s very slight. As kids, we have idols. People we deeply admire and wish to be like. We do anything, even while growing up, to bend ourselves to become what we feel is comfortably close to our hero. This is why we large populations torturing their bodies physically and mentally to achieve their goal. We re all little people pleasers fighting relentlessly for a taste of feeling perfect. BPAmoco Case Group 1 AM Edits BP/Amoco Merger Case Group 1 Keshavaraja Alive Stephen Felkins Therese Jackson Andrea Marrical Eric Weiss Executive Summary Prior to the merger between BP and Amoco in 1998, both companies had very similar operating characteristics and performance. Both companies engaged primarily in the same three businesses and experienced close to the same percentages of revenue and percentages of operating income for each of those businesses. Realizing that this segment was not very profitable in comparison to exploration and production, BP made the decision to reduce its interests in refining and marketing. The third business that both BP and Amoco separately engaged in prior to the merger was the production of petrochemicals. BP had operations for this segment more widespread than the others and distributed to over 60 countries. Amoco, on the other hand, concentrated heavily in the United States staying consistent with the other two businesses. Revenue percentages for petrochemicals were very low for both companies, but operating income percentages were as well; 7 and 11 percent respectively for BP and 16 and 16 percent respectively for Amoco. • 7. Srebrenca Genocide Essay In 1997, the world witnessed the second most horrific crime in eastern Europe since the Holocaust: The Srebrenica massacre. Throughout the course of 11 days, over 8,000 Bosniak Bosnian Muslim males, specifically those who were of age to join the military, were rounded up, and killed by the Bosnian Serb army. The army s defense for their actions was that they were trying to reunite Serb territory after the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina became its own state. Despite this claim, the ICTY still charged Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic, two of the men who spearheaded the ethnic cleansing campaign in Bosnia, with war crimes including genocide. However, scholars debate whether Srebrenica, albeit horrible, and other instances like itself, being labeled a genocide is a misapplication of the term. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As defined by the UN, a genocide is the intentional destruction of a whole or part of a racial, ethnical, or religious group. The problem people see with calling Srebrenica a genocide is the intention behind the crime. According to William Schabas, author of Genocide in International Law: The Crime of Crimes, prosecutors had to stretch the definition of genocide in order to prove that Bosnia Serb leaders had intentions to eliminate Bosniaks. (M.S, Genocide) Although this may be true, since their reason was to unify Serb land, we cannot disregard the fact that they used ethnic cleansing to make this happen, which in turn eliminated Bosniaks from Srebrenica. Is it then morally, and legally right to say that the ends justify the means in this case, in the sense that it would not be considered a genocide? • 8. Polio Is An Incapacitating And Potentially Fatal... What is Polio? Poliomyelitis, commonly referred to as Polio, is an incapacitating and potentially fatal, infectious virus. Although it is rare to see someone suffering from the disease, in some countries, such as Nigeria, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, the virus still exists. (Kids Health 1) Before the first vaccine was created, Polio was a threat to all Americans across the nation. The dangerous virus attacked people from all age ranges and left permanent damage on all of its victims. Luckily, at the peak of its devastation, a man named Jonas Salk created a vaccine against this catastrophic virus. This vaccine not only marked the downfall of Polio in the United States, but in a majority of nations throughout the world as well. Poliovirus first enters the human body through the mouth. Next, the virus resides in either the person s throat or intestines. For the virus to spread, it would have to be transmitted via feces and/or by the droplets of an infected individual. (Kids Health 1) Only human beings can be affected by the poliovirus. (Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention 2) Signs and symptoms of Poliomyelitis include: fever, sore throat, headache, vomiting, fatigue, back pain or stiffness, neck pain or stiffness, pain or stiffness in the arms or legs, muscle weakness or tenderness, and meningitis. (Mayo Clinic 2) But, even if an individual does not possess any of the common signs or symptoms of Polio, the individual can still have poliovirus in them and could ... Gregory Chamberlain College of Nursing March28, 2009 Sepsis Early Detection and Treatment Severe Sepsis affects 750,000 Americans and causes more than 200,000 deaths annually. Sepsis is a complex condition that results from an infectious process that represents the body s response to infection and involves systemic inflammatory and cellular events that result in altered circulation and coagulation, endothelial dysfunction and impaired tissue perfusion (Kleinpell, 2005). Associated mortality rates with sepsis in the United States have remained largely unchanged for several decades. Through an international collaboration known as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Treatment of Sepsis As stated in Rivers, Nguyed, Havstad, Ressler, Muzzin, Knolich et al. (2001): Early hemodynamic assessment on the basis of physical findings, vital signs, central venous pressure, and urinary output fails to detect persistent global tissue hypoxia. A more definitive resuscitation strategy involves goal oriented manipulation of cardiac preload, afterload, and contractility to achieve a balance between systemic oxygen delivery and oxygen demand. End points used to confirm the achievement of such a balance (hereafter called resuscitation end points) include normalized values for mixed venous oxygen saturation, arterial lactate concentration, base deficit, and pH. Mixed venous oxygen saturation has been shown to be a surrogate for the cardiac index as a target for hemodynamic therapy. In cases in which the insertion of a pulmonary artery catheter is impractical, venous oxygen saturation can be measured in the central circulation (p. 1368). The focus for the general care nurse outside of the ICU is to be able to recognize sepsis and to initiate appropriate interventions in an appropriate amount of time. Nurses need to facilitate the transfer of the patient to an ICU as urgently as possible. Once sepsis is suspected, it is important to closely monitor patients for signs and symptoms of progression with increasing frequency of assessments. For many years, Athens was the place for culture. Lycon, you remember those days where you would throw those fantastic parties! Meletus father was a playwright. Look where it brought them. To this assembly. My fellow Athenians, we must support the arts in order to become the center place for Greek culture, and so we do not become idiots like our neighbors, the Spartans. Imagine a paved road, going straight across the world until it reaches the end of the earth and falls off. There is only one way to go. A person who follows this way will become a follower, and will not be able to make decisions, and will eventually reach the end of the earth and fall off, his voice never to be heard from again. Now, imagine that the road has many branching pathways, one leading to righteousness, one leading to justice, one leading to a naked man taking a shower. These are all choices that we can make. When a person appreciates music, their mind is opened up so that they can make decisions that are more thought out. Take Crito for example. As a follower of Socrates, and rich man, you must have some musical training. He used his musical training to develop a new way of eating pork skins! Instead of getting his hands dirty with, he used a piece of paper to grab his pork skin and eat it! However, on a serious note, if music is supported, then we will have many people in our assembly who do have different views, and who do think their ideas out before presenting them. That, in turn, will lead to a fairer democracy, for we will have more ideas that are of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Stagecraft of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead ...a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more... This quote from Macbeth is a perfect summary of the plot of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. The dramatisation of the lives of these two unremarkable and virtually extraneous characters from Hamlet is an unlikely foundation for one of the most...engaging of post war plays (Daily Telegraph). However, as with Samuel Beckett s absurdist play Waiting for Godot the originality of Stoppard s concept is not enough in itself to create a masterpiece and it is the brilliance of the stagecraft and writing that establishes this play as a classic. The presentation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first instance occurs after they have been ordered to find Hamlet, now a convicted murderer. They, understandably scared, attempt to find him but after much wandering and procrastination arrive in exactly the same place they started. A fitting punch line to the visual joke is Guildenstern s comment Well, at last we re getting somewhere . The second example transpires immediately afterwards when they construct a trap for Hamlet (two belts held taunt before an entranceway) he evades this by simply walking around it and the two men enhance their folly by saying there s a limit to what two people can do . The farcical quality of this piece of action is mirrored later on in Act III when the Player and his troupe appear on the boat. Ros and Guil are alerted to their presence by the now familiar pipe music and Rosencrantz is startled that the music it is coming from three barrels on stage. As soon as the music stops the lid of the middle barrel flies open and the Player s head pops out. He climbs out, followed by his entire company and their instruments. This stage direction is extremely effective and droll and brings an interesting edge to the use of space. In the end, the insane Hamlet is unaware of the complete and utter chaos that he inflicts on himself and everyone he loves. Instead of controlling his antic disposition, it controls him resulting in tragedy and death. Ophelia has a unique form of madness since it is a mixture of love and hate. It is questionable if Ophelia s madness aroused from her father death, from Hamlets rejection or perhaps from both possible reasons. As a result to his acts Macbeth goes on to witness several hallucinations. The first hallucination was one of a ghostly dagger in Act II scene i. Macbeth sees the dagger and says, Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee (II.1.33 34). A dagger is what Macbeth used to kill Duncan, so this was a way of foreshadowing what was to come. It comes to a point where Macbeth begins to see the people that he killed, like Banquo during the dinner party. It is at the dinner party where Macbeth reaches his climax of madness; standing on the dinner table, and shouting and cursing, and it is where everyone starts to realize that something is wrong with Macbeth. Anger and insanity are joined to illustrate the themes, and they both cloud the judgment of characters in various ways. In Macbeth, madness is an expression of guilt, and In Hamlet it is mostly an expression of revenge. When Shakespeare uses madness in these plays it deepens the drama and the plot. He usually has more than one character display madness. When this happens, those who tend to go mad may become characters that are much more interesting and thereby worthy of representation in drama because they help to develop the plot in an interesting way since mad people tend to act ... • 14. Power Series Method For Solving Linear Differential Equations ABSTRACT In this work, we studied that Power Series Method is the standard basic method for solving linear differential equations with variable coefficients. The solutions usually take the form of power series; this explains the name Power series method. We review some special second order ordinary differential equations. Power series Method is described at ordinary points as well as at singular points (which can be removed called Frobenius Method) of differential equations. We present a few examples on this method by solving special second order ordinary differential equations. Key words ; Power series, differential equations, Frobenius Method, Lengendre polynomials 1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY The attempt to solve physical problems led gradually to Mathematical models involving an equation in which a function and its derivatives play important role. However, the theoretical development of this new branch of Mathematics Differential Equations has its origin rooted in a small number of Mathematical problems. These problems and their solutions led to an independent discipline with the solution of such equations an end in itself (Sasser, 2005). 1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM The research work seeks to find solutions of second order ordinary differential equations using the power series method. 1.3 AIM AND OBJECTIVES The aim and objectives of the study are to: Describe the power series method. The Effects Of Muscle And On The Regeneration Of Muscle Essay The extensive research provided determines whether simple tasks such as stretches, exercise, or changes in diet or nutrition can be a factor on the regeneration of muscle. More so in athletes than non athletes, muscle tears are extremely common. Yet, when viewing muscle regeneration, it doesn t only occur during injuries. Individuals who lift weights constantly tear their muscle, but in a good way. Lifting heavy weights cause microscopic tears in the muscle. By doing this, it allows the muscle to regenerate and grow back stronger than it once was (Annigan). Injuries, and weight lifting both involve the slightly similar processes of muscle generation, but include recovery at different rates, as well as an even more complex process within full tears of the muscle fiber. The main aim of this study is to develop a rainfall induced landslide probability map for Kenya s central province. In order to achieve this, process based methods were used to map landslide areas using the following factors: slope, rainfall, land cover change,Normalized DifferenceVegetation Index (NDVI)change, Curvature, watershed, and soil characteristic including: type, texture, soil bulk density, Base Saturation, and Total Water Available Distribution Map. The minimum conditions were set for each factor for landslide occurrence. Slope stability mapping was done to determine the stable areas and thus derive the probability of landslide occurrence.
