2. Manatees, The Gentle Giant Is Going Extinct Essays
The West Indian Manatee (Trichechus manatus) is a marine mammal that lives in the coastal
waters and around the offshore reefs of Belize. Manatees have large gray bodies covered with
algae or barnacles. They are herbivores that consume marine vegetation such as sea grass and
surface regularly to breathe. They reside in sea grass beds and in mangroves that provide them with
shelter. The West Indian Manateeis listed as vulnerable under the IUCN Red List of Threatened
Species, and may eventually be listed as endangered. They are at a huge risk of decline due to
coastal development and other changes to the environment (Auil). Manatees are facing countless
risks and deaths as the human population increases in varying locations. According to... Show more

In Belize, mangroves estimate up to 3.4% of the land area, about 296 square miles (CITE).
Mangroves serve important ecological service such as erosion control, filter, and clean, while
also providing shelter to many marine organisms like lemon sharks, invertebrates, shrimp, and
manatees. There is a lot of biodiversity in mangroves and due to the clearance for urban and rural
development, many of these organisms are losing their homes (Patterson). Belize s coastal areas
are usually sea grass beds. Sea grass destruction strip away habitats from numerous lobster, conch,
fish, turtles, and manatees (CITE). Sea grass is the manatee s main food source and destruction of
these beds limits their grazing and range. Watercraft traffic in these shallow areas is also another
reason of harming the sea grass beds.
Watercrafts are a huge threat for manatees by of degradation of sea grass beds. Watercrafts are
also dangerous in the sense that their propellers strike the manatees which is one of the causes
of their deaths. Many manatee accidents have been reported due to watercraft collision in Belize,
and in the state of Florida. In 2003, the Florida Fish Wildlife Conservation Commission showed a
report that a total of 305 manatees were killed due to watercrafts. This also depends on the speed
of the watercraft that is travelling. If it is travelling at a higher speed, it can damage the manatee
tremendously or even kill it. Scientists in Florida s Marine Mammal

4. Murder in All Its Forms
Murder: And all its forms Throughout the criminal justice system, news, and in many other
situations the term murder is used quite frequently however usually incorrectly. Some people say
animals or even trees get murdered, but under the law it is not murder unless a human takes the life
of another human. Homicideis a lawful term for any killing of a human being by another human
being. Homicide itself is not automatically a crime, some homicides are legal, such as the
justifiable killing of a suspect by the police or a killing in self defense. Unlawful homicides are
classified as crimes like murderand manslaughter. This paper will explain the important but often
overlooked distinctions between murder and manslaughter, and the... Show more content on

The defendant could be convicted of 2nd degree murder. Depraved heart murders are unintentional
but extremely reckless murders. For example, playing with a loaded gun and pointing the gun at
another for fun is extremely reckless behavior. If the gun went off and killed another the defendant
was pointing at it could constitute as a 2nd degree murder charge under the depraved heart murder
standard. Manslaughter is the unlawful killing of another human by a human that does not involve
malice aforethought. The absence of malice aforethought means that manslaughter involves less
moral blame than either first or second degree murder. While manslaughter is a serious crime, the
punishment for it is generally less than that for murder. There are two main classes or degrees that
manslaughter falls under. Those are voluntary and involuntary manslaughter. Voluntary
manslaughter is often what is referred to as a heat of passion crime. Voluntary manslaughter occurs
when a person is strongly provoked under circumstances that could provoke a reasonable and
rationale person, and kills in the heat of passion aroused by that baiting. An example of this would
be where a husband comes home to find his wife committing adultery. The act provokes the
husband to enter such a heat of rage in that moment that he kills the other man right then and

5. Media Reflection Paper
Today the life revolves around media, it is on people s phones, media decorate their walls, and for
some media is their job. Since media is such an inescapable part of the modern landscape it is
significant that we as individuals understand how the media works and how it affects us. In this
course, the nature of the mediahas been unraveled to reveal the ways that it has impacted society
and how it has done this. This class has made me became more critical of the media in my life
and now even without thinking I recognize patterns, and in some cases toxic themes in the media
I consume. Looking back on this semester and what I have learned I can see that I have become
more media literate in many ways, primarily in the areas of awareness and analysis. I have
become more aware of the way media is constructed. Some things that have stood out to me since
I have started this course is for example the other day when I flew into the ST. Louis airport after
Thanksgiving break one of the monitors in baggage claim said that it was CLear Channel TV
before this course I do not know what clear channel was and I knew that the entertainment
business was an oligopoly but I did not realize the extent. Seeing this was a moment of realization,
that what I read was real, this one company has its hands in every pot. I have also noticed how
much media means to people, I was speaking to one of my friends and I mentioned that I thought
marvel was better that DC and she became very upset at me. It occurred to me that being a DC
comics fan was a part of her identity, before I knew that people took entertainment personally but
it was not actively looking for it. I have increased my ability to analyze the media I consume,
now I am more aware of the way industries target audiences. One of the easiest ways this can be
seen is in commercials, advertisers make there for a specific audience, video game commercials are
a good example Game of Wart has a woman in its commercials who speaks in an alluring voice and
invites audiences to come join her. She is there for the male gaze, men are the desired customers
that companies look for, so she is there as a way of saying that this game will make the player feel
special and receive the

6. Anterograde And Retrograde Amnesia
Amnesia is a memory disorder that contributes to the loss of memory (King, 2016). There are two
types of amnesia: anterograde and retrograde amnesia. Anterograde amnesia is when a person loses
the ability to remember newly learned information, but cannot remember everything from before
developing amnesia (King, 2016). For instance, if a child was injured and acquired this type of
amnesia they would only remember what was stored then when growing older. This leading me to
believe that there is a storing dysfunction that could contribute to amnesia. Retrograde amnesia is
when a person loses the ability to remember the things or information that was processed before the
development of amnesia, but after the development the person can start acquiring

7. The Legacy Of Abraham Lincoln Essay
Abraham Lincoln is a name most commonly associated with our country s Civil War and the
abolition of slavery. When one thinks of this name, one usually envision s his tall, slender
physique and that iconic tall black hat. His face can usually be seen with a look of concern and
depth in his eyes. This man faced not only guiding his country through a state of grave danger,
but also terrible tragedies that would destabilize his personal life. Lincoln would come to lose two
of his children (the third died after Lincoln s assassination), doubt his wife s sanity, and lose his
own life. Yet in spite of these personal struggles, Lincoln immersed himself in his work, and
shattered expectations to go down in history as one of America s greatest presidents.
Lincoln, born in Kentucky, was mostly self educated. Even at a young age, Lincoln was no
stranger to devastation. His mother, Nancy Lincoln, died of milk poisoning when Lincoln was
only 9 years old. This left his sister, Sarah, aged 11, to look after the family. Lincoln s father
remarried eventually, and Abraham took to his stepmother kindly. His sister Sarah died during
childbirth in 1828, and greatly affected him. Some believe that this is when his depression first
began to surface. He became engaged to Mary Todd in 1840. After Lincoln broke off the
engagement for unknown reasons, the two rekindled their relationship and married in 1842. Robert
Todd Lincoln was then born in 1843, Edward Baker Lincoln (called

8. Narrative Essay On The Halloween Night
One night when I was a little kid, I had a nightmare where I felt like I was being watched by
someone or something. I was laying on the couch in my grandparents living room. When I woke
up, I started to get a weird feeling. Like someone was there, so I slowly sat up. I called out for my
grandparents. No one answered so I decidedto walk to their bedroom. They were sound asleep.
Weird I thoughtto myself. So I walked back into the living room to check if someone was outside.
When I looked out the living room window, I saw a man sitting on the fence in a crouched
position: just staring into the house waiting for someone to notice him. I stared at him for the
longest time, I slowly backed away from the window. I quickly ran to my room. When laying
there in my bed, I lay there feeling scared. I kept getting scared when I thought what if he came
into the house. After a while of laying there, I tried to fall asleep. Trying to keep my mindoff about
what I just saw.
Years have passed since and I never had that nightmare again. I usually don t have nightmares as
much as when I was younger. More so I do get paranoid quickly from the littlest things. Today is

going on here? he asked suspiciously. You didn t forget, did you? Punk questioned. It s your

grinning happily. Just wasn t expecting this, that s all. Well, since we didn t get to jump out and

hopefully at the teacher. Fine, Ms. McMahon sighed, sounding defeated. You may use the radio.
With a collective cheer, the children dragged the radio out of its place in the closet and commenced
the party.

Some time afterwards, the bell rang for recess and the children scrambled outside into the snow. At
Sheamus s request, it was quickly decided that they would have an all out snowball war. Teams were

10. Benefits Of Genetically Modified Plants
Genetically Modified Plants
The term GMO Plants (genetically modified organisms) is most commonly used to refer to crop
plants created for human, or animal consumption using the latest molecular biology techniques.
These plants have been modified in the laboratory to enhance desired traits such as increased
resistance to herbicides and improved nutritional content. The enhancement of desired traits has
traditionally been undertaken through breeding, but conventional plant breeding methods can be
very time consuming and are often not very accurate. Genetic engineering can create plants with the
exact desired trait very rapidly and with great accuracy.
The world population is growing every year and is predicted to double in the next
50 years (WHO). Ensuring an adequate supply for this booming human population is going to
be a major challenge in the years to come. GM foods promise to meet this need in a number of
ways: Pharmaceuticals, medicines and vaccines often are costly to produce and sometimes require
special storage conditions not readily available in third world countries. Researchers are working
to develop edible vaccines in tomatoes and potatoes. These vaccines will be much easier to ship,
store and administer than traditional injectable vaccines. Nutrition, malnutrition is common in third
world countries where impoverished peoples rely on a single crop such as rice for the main staple
of their diet. However, rice does not contain adequate amounts of all necessary

11. Paul Is Comforting And Reassuring The Colossian
Introduction
(Summarise what I think the basic point of the passage is)
In this passage, Paul is comforting and reassuring the Colossians. Their minds were being filled
with false heretical teachings such as worshipping angels over God and trying to reinforce obscure
restrictions from the Old Testament. Paul encourages the Colossians to ignore their false and proud
teachings as, the Head (Jesus) makes the decisions for the body (the church), and all the ligaments
(believers/followers) must do is follow the orders from the head and ignore those that think
otherwise. He reminds the Colossians that Jesus died for us, and he is our leader, which would
imply that any other form of playing God is to be ignored.

They were also advocates of worshipping angels and had claimed that they had a number of
revelations and visions. Angels are part of the creation but are not the creator describes that some
people can misconstrue God s teachings and take them out of context. Worshipping angels also is
symbol of the angels that worshipped Lucifer, which is a demonic teaching, and is blasphemous.
(Col 2:18)
The head in this verse represents God, the body represents the church and the ligaments and joints
represent the followers and people of the church. Not holding fast to the head represents the heretics
who ha no relationship with Christ and were true believers in Christianity. The head gives the
orders to the body and the joints and ligaments are what move the body in doing what the church
does. Paul expresses that we are what make the church survive, but it can only ultimately be a
Christian church with Christ leading the way. (Col

.What is Fair Trade?
Fair Trade is a certification from Fair Trade USA, a non profit based out of Oakland California, that
certifies that the product you are buying has been made with the utmost social and environmental
responsibility. I.E. that the manufacturer was not abusing their workers or harming the environment
when they make their product. To quote the paper: As the leading third party certifier of fair trade
products in North America, FT USA s certification stamp or seal of approval was also more than
just a label; it ensured adherence to a rigorous set of standards so that purchases are socially and
environmentally responsible. As well as: FT USA s Fair Trade Certified label was distinctly
focused on empowering farmers and workers to fight poverty through trade, and to protect the
environment.
Originally it had a focus on coffee, an industry where workers are commonly abused or severely
underpaid. But the certification has since expanded to cover organic, environmental, and certain
company specific standards for a huge amount of products.
2.How does Fair Trade certification process differ from Utz Certified or others?
Fair Trade extends beyond just setting a few social and environmental standards. The big
difference between Fair Trade and RA or UTZ is the fact that Fair Trade sets a standard for
community empowerment. They demanded specific floor prices, community development
premiums, and an overall empowering structure for farmers and such. The Fair

the battle of Fort Wagner during the Civil War. This focus explains the defeat of Union forces
and how the implementation of intelligence assets may have resulted in Union victory. The use
of reconnaissance and scout assets by Union forces would have resulted in the success of the
Union Army at Fort Wagner. Fort Wagner was a key stronghold for Confederate forces, securing
the Charleston Harbor and protecting passage to the Rebel birthplace and Confederate capital of
Charleston, South Carolina. Union regiments stormed the beaches of Morris Island on 10 July
1863 with the intention of assuming control over Fort Wagner. The Confederate forces fortified

14. Examples Of Personification In Into Thin Air
In the story Into Thin Air, the author talks about his experiences about Mountain Everest. He
uses lots of figurative language as he has to talk about how others and himself are feeling. In the
passage The roar of the wind made it impossible to communicate from one tent to the next. In
this godforsaken place. (Krakauer 284), he uses personification because we imagine roar as
loud as a lion and he wants to compare it to the wind that s making loud noise. This passage also
gives us feeling of how he felt from this uproar of sound, he expresses himself by saying in this
godsakenplace (284), this attitude tells us that the wind is not breezing, instead it s more of an

The author uses personification in the passage And the meter was running; even as we reclined
in our tents we were using up precious gas. (284). I think he includes lots of personification
because he loves to compare human characteristics to non living objects since we know how it
physically feels to do human characteristics. In this case, he says the meter is running and when
we think of running, we know how it feels to have our heartbeat feel. Overall, he plays with his
language to make sure that we are bored of the passage and we can feel the setting in the story.
In the next passage, we talk about how he is feeling emotionally. Through this expedition, he
goes through a rough time with getting his energy up and not giving up, the challenging part is
trying to stay with the team. Throughout his expedition, he is having to take care of his
teammates and he wouldn t take care of them for no reason, there was always a reason to take
care of people around him.. He says I felt disconnected from the climbers around me emotionally,
spiritually, physically to a degree I had not experiences on any previous expedition... yet I would
do everything in my power to keep pushing on if he turned around (284), this is an example of
pathos because he uses his heart to express his feeling about his connections with his teammates. In

The Indian Removal has long been a debated issue. The two sides had radically different viewpoints
on the ordeal that helped shape America. The Indians, naturally, were against their removal from
their homelands, and they had two major protest against their removal. The first reason was the fact
that they were there first by thousands of years only for white men to invade and tell them to live
somewhere else because the white men were superior to the natives. The second reason was that the
U.S government kept breaking treaties and was forcing out tribes that had gone through the proper

selling land that belonged to the Nation so that Indian territory became American territory despite
the people having no right to sell land given to the Cherokee Nation. The Cherokee government
fought the breaks in the treaties but the judicial decision was overruled and the Cherokees were
still forced to move. Besides the breaches in the treaties, the Cherokee tribe was one of the five

of the antisemitism (hatred of Jews) that persisted in parts of Europe and the trauma they had

These amounts of tax savings should be added to the incremental cost savings for each year to
come up with the total cash inflows. The present value of all these cash inflows and outflows
can be calculated by discounting them at 12.19%. This rate is calculated by assuming that the
purchasing power parity holds in this scenario. The company can do the feasibility analysis by
looking at both from the subsidiary s and parent s perspective by assuming that the purchasing
power parity holds. Hence, this rate can be regarded as opportunity cost of investment because it
is the second best alternative for the company for investment purposes. So, the NPV can be
calculated by taking the sum of present values of all the cash flows. This NPV comes out to be
3,703,176 Pesos. This NPV value can be converted into Euros by dividing the NPV value by the
spot exchange rate. The spot exchange rate is 15.99 MXN/EURO. Hence, by dividing
3,703,176 by 15.99, NPV value in terms of Euro comes out to be 231,593 Euros. Compute the
NPV in €s by translating future peso cash flows into €s at expected future spot rates. Note
Ariel s € hurdle rate for this asset class was 8%. Annual inflation rates are expected to be 7% in

25. The Between Self Disclosure And Computer Mediated...
This article explores the difference between self disclosure in Computer Mediated
Communication (CMC) and Face to Face Communication (FTF). More specifically, this article
focuses Joseph Walther s Hyperpersonal Model from 1996, and presents an attributional
extension on the model. The article begins by discussing the presence of self disclosure on the
internet, stating that self disclosure is rife in profiles for online dating and that the average
Facebook user discloses approximately 25% of the standard information that could be disclosed .
The article states that while there has been lots of research articles on the reasons that self
disclosure is so prevalent in CMC, such as anonymity and selective self presentation, they all seem
to make the assumption that increased self disclosure in CMC directly results in increased
intimacy. Hence, while research has shown that people disclose more information in CMC relative
to FTF, no one has empirically proven the impact of self disclosure on intimacy in CMC.The article
continues by defining the concepts and theories crucial to understanding the topic at hand. The
disclosure intimacy link is a theory which states that self disclosure is directly proven to foster
intimacy in a relationship (Sternberg,1988). The Hyperpersonal model sets out to explain the
reason why some online relationships tend to be more intimate than FTF relationships (Parks
Floyd, 1996). The Hyperpersonal Model states that CMC can be Hyperpersonal

This paper looks at the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) a project by the IMF and World

DEBT RELIEF KEY TO POVERTY REDUCTION
The World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) with its view that no poor country faces a
debt burden that it cannot manage, came up with an initiative in 1996 called HIPC initiative. Since
then, the International financial community and the multilateral organizations and governments
have worked tirelessly together to reduce external debt to sustain levels for the many Highly
Indebted Poor Countries. The World Bankand its partner IMF believes that poverty reduction will
come by reducing debt levels of the country.
NEGATIVE OUTCOMES OF HIPC INITIATIVES ON ZAMBIA
The World Bank and the IMF, almost always put conditions to members states to access financial
assistance. HIPC countries like Zambia were not an exceptional.
Four conditions were put in place for HIPC to meet, this includes:
1. be eligible to borrow from the World Bank s International Development Agency.
2. Face an unsustainable debt burden, that cannot be sustain through traditional mechanism debt

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation also known as CPR is an important part of helping someone
survive during an emergency. Learning CPR can cause many positive outcomes for a victim in a
critical moment. This paper will discuss not only those effects but also the basics of CPR, different
types and process that is thought to save a person s life.
CPR is used in an emergency where the heart has stopped working properly. It can be due to
blocked blood passageways, heart attack, or cardiac arrest. Once an emergency begins everyone in
the immediate area is considered a bystander. As a bystander, rapid response is needed to save a
life. It is normal for people to hesitate or doubt they can help but even the smallest thing can
make a big difference. If nothing else a bystander can call for help. This may not seem like a big
help, but the 911 operators are trained in CPR and many other steps to saving lives during

after the earthquake, the water rose and the tsunami changed the world forever. (1)
Tsunami is a Japanese word that means harbor wave . Tsunamis are giant sea waves caused by

Indonesia, but the tsunami was strong enough to crash into many other countries. The waves
traveled all the distance of the Indian Ocean. In addition to Indonesia, the tsunami had killed people

Agents of Socialisation : The Mass Media
In the present day, the media is incorporated into our daily lives. Every day, through newspapers,
radio, television, email, the internet and social media, are we sucked into an electronic world,
which changes many of our beliefs and values about how we live our lives. It plays such a large
role in almost every person s life compared to 50 years ago, when the internet did not exist. It
effects things such as our political views, tastes in music, views of men, women, gay and

advancements, especially in the way of mobile devices and computers. The mass media, being an

Labyrinth is a play written by Beth Steel and it was shown at the Hampstead Theatre in London.
The first thing I encountered when I entered the theatre was how big it was. The stage was in the
center of the theater, which makes it entertaining for the audience to enjoy it at any side. A unique
thing about the stage was that they use so much creativity on the floor. There were times where the
floor was turned into a staircase, and smoke was coming outfrom the floor to show what is on John
s mind. The stage was very relevant to the play, because it used quite often to help us comprehend
why John Anderson killed himself at the end of the play. Looking back at the production I saw in
October, something that made the set stood out was the trap doorin several of situations throughout
the play. For example, when they were transiting scenes at the office, they used the trap doorsas a
staircase for people that are working in the business. Also in the middle of the scene, Jonathan
wanted to kick his father out of his apartment and once when he was kicked out, he used the
trapped door from underneath. The trap door were unique, you see the characters going inside the
trap door then come out of the two steel doors that were on each side of the stage. Similar to the
trap doors, the two steel doors on each side of the set was unique too. Numerous of times in the
play, it was used as an entrance for John to negotiate a loan deal with Latin American countries.

This is contributed to, by activation of the sympathetic nervous system (flight or fight response to

effects primarily at the glucocorticoid receptors.
Hyperglycaemia results physiologically in glycosuria (exceeds the tubular maximum for

Hyperglycaemia is not optimal peri operatively because of the risk of infection and poor wound

also not ideal in someone who is already likely dehydrated from fluid losses and blood loss from the

Background:
In 2015, chronic diseases were the leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 63% of all
deaths (Schaepe Bergjan, 2015). Last year, the estimated prevalence of chronic kidney disease
(CKD) globally was between eight and sixteen percent (Schaepe Bergjan, 2015). Patients are often
diagnosed during the latter stages of CKD due to the lack of symptoms earlier on, and as a result,
require dialysis or renal transplantation to prolong or sustain their life. Unfortunately, the need for
transplants is much greater than the availability of donor kidneys leaving patients with dialysis, an

Studies have found that patients with CKD have a lower quality of life (QOL) compared to the
general healthy population as well as those with other chronic diseases (Timmers et al., 2008).
Quality of life (QOL) can be defined as an individual s perception of self within the context of their
culture and value system in relation to their goals, expectations, standards, and concerns of daily
life (Boudreau Dube, 2014). While working with patients through renal replacement therapy, nurses
have the ability to impact patient s QOL by utilizing the nursing process to promote positive
outcomes through physical assessment, the development of care plans, the implementation of
nursing interventions, and the evaluation of health care outcomes. The implementation of
individualized care plans and effective nursing interventions can be guided by simply gaining
insight on the patient s perception of their QOL (Boudreau Dube, 2014). The QOL of CKD
patients receiving dialysis is especially important to nursing due to the prevalence of the disease
worldwide, the co morbidities associated with CKD, and the likelihood of it progressing to end
stage renal disease (ESRD). Dialysis patients commonly experience physical and mental issues
including, but not limited to, itching, lack of energy, loss of self esteem, and uncertainty regarding

38. American Airlines Flight 1420 Accident Using The SHELL Model
Abstract
As a collaborative case study, we analyzed the American Airlines Flight 1420 accident using the
SHELL Model. The SHEL Model was developed by a Professor Elwyn Edwards in 1972 and it was
later modified to the SHELL Model by a human factors consultant named Frank Hawkins. We can
see all the human factors that were involved in the accident utilizing following aspects software,
hardware, environment, liveware and liveware. The National Transportation Safety Board(NTSB)
conducted a thorough investigation and determine that the American Airlines Flight 1420 was a
runway overrun accident caused by human factors.
The SHELL Model has proven to be an useful tool when it comes to using the human factors and
aviation safety. On this case study, we will use the details from the NTSB report from the
American Airlines Flight 1420 NTSB to study all the factors of the SHELL Model that were
contributed to the accident.
Liveware Software
Multiple factors were contributing to American Airlines fatal accident in 1999. To identify the
factors and different issues with American Airlines Flight 1420 the SHELL model will be used.
One of the major cause of this accident was a breakdown in Liveware Software. Liveware
Software investigates procedures, manuals, checklists and standard operational procedures (ICAO
SHELL Model, 2016).
NTSB ruled that the main causes of the accident were the decision to land in a thunderstorm and
that the crew did not arm the spoilers (NTSB, 2001).

40. How Did Catherine Mcauley Change The World
Ven. Catherine McAuley planted a seed that would change the world, even after her death. She
was born September 29, 1778. Although there is some irresolvable uncertainty about the year, this
is the year that most biographers generally accept. Her father had passed away when she was very
young, and her mother passed shortly after. After the passing of her mother, she moved in with her
Protestant relatives and became friends with the Callaghans. She served as a household manager
and companion for Mrs. Callaghan. After Mr. Callaghan passed away, he left Catherine the estate,
leaving her a considerable fortune. Little did he know that Catherine was going to change the lives
of many with her inheritance. Catherine recognized the many needs of

41. John Locke s Theory Of Self And Personal Identity Essay
John Locke a seventeenth century Philosopher uses a number of thought experiments in his 1690
account, An Essay concerning Human Understanding . He uses these thought experiments to help
explain his definition of the self and personal identity. The thought experiments that are used, go
some way in explaining his opinions and in clarifying the role that memory plays in defining the
term. Although defining personal identity was and still is a complex subject and not all
philosophers share the same views.
The term personal identity is described in the text book as what, if anything makes a person the
same person despite changes over time (Warburton, N,2011, p.18). Locke s thought experiments are
essential instruments in explaining that when a man or woman has no memory or consciousness of
events that have occurred, their personal identity is altered quite significantly. Locke aims to show
that a person s consciousness is what makes them, them. And that the biological body that their
consciousness inhabits is not always connected. These opinions are talked about throughout his
account and it is clear that John Locke feels that memory is imperative to personal identity.
In John Locke s description of the thought experiment the little finger; he discusses the differences
that can occur when a part of a human is removed and becomes its own individual body. Locke
states that If the consciousness went along with the finger when it was cut off that the finger could

spread from one end of the globe to the other in a matter of days. A person can get on a plane in

on the plane gets back home. Infectious disease may also be spread by international trade in food

46. The Mormon Belief System
The Mormon belief system has many different principles that are unique and set themselves
apart from other world religions, one of which being their views on cosmology. The Mormon
cosmology belief is the description of the physical and metaphysical universe. Their beliefs on
the subject are deeply engrained in the religion s basic faith; cosmology is related to the church
s views on divinity, extraterrestrial life, pre mortal existence, and the afterlife. Mormon divinity
revolves around the core beliefs in exaltation and eternal progression: the idea that mortals will
be given an opportunity to have leading roles in other heavenly kingdoms, themselves. One of
the key goals in Mormonism is to achieve exaltation through Jesus s atonement; as a result they
inherit godly attributes. Mormonism holds the belief that people who follow God s example
will become like gods in the afterlife, having all power, glory, dominion, and knowledge (LDS
Church 227). This belief that people may one day become god like figures in the afterlife leads to
the assumption that Mormons believe in the existence of other worlds like the one that we live in,
that exalted people would be able to rule over. The teachings of Mormonism also include that the
exalted will live with their earthly families in the next life and have spirit children (LDS Church
11), continuing the growth of their families. According to the Mormonism belief, exaltation is
obtained only by reaching the most high of the degrees

47. Prince Of A Town Called Bel Air
Prince of a Town Called Bel Air
Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down, and I d like to take a
minute, just sit right here, I ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air (Smith).
Many 90s kids memorized this opening to the hit television show The Fresh Prince of Bel Air .
Sometimes you can t help but rap the words and visualize Will Smith spinning in front of a graffiti
background. Will Smith stars in the show as a fictionalized version of himself. The theme song sets
the premise for the entire show. Smith was a street smart, African American teenager born in West
Philadelphia. However, while playing basketball, he got in a confrontation with a group of men.
This frightened his mother, who sent him to Bel Air to live with his wealthy aunt and uncle. Smith
grew up in a working class environment and is now exposed to an upper class world. This is a
theme around which many of the show s plots revolve. The effect of the lyrics to this theme song
goes beyond pure entertainment value. Smith is hyper aware that he is combatting the prevalent
television representation, at the time, of young black males as thugs. Through this 90s comical
theme song, Smith, who was born and raised in West Philadelphia himself, confirms the stereotype
of the urban, black, young thug and complicates that stereotype by depicting himself as nothing like
that.
As an appeal to ethos, Smith is initially portrayed as a person with good sense, good moral

For this reason, the Prime Minister and his cabinet have to be from the dominant party or coalition
in the assembly. In the case where the President and the Assembly are from opposing parties, then a
situation known as cohabitation is created. Motions of censure are most of the time proposed by
the opposition following government actions that it considers highly inapt, they are purely
rhetorical this means that the party discipline should see to it that throughout a parliamentary term,
the government is never overthrown or given a motion of censure by the assembly (Constitution
Declaration 2011).
The Shura Council also known as the consultative council is a 264 member upper house of
Parliament that came to being in the 1980 s. In the Shura Council 176 members are directly

To some persons, emotional intelligence is defined as study which looks for human cognitive
abilities beyond traditional academic intelligence, (Zeidner et al., 2004). Researchers have
categorized their definition based on the either an ability model or mixed model. Based on the
Mandell and Phewanti (2003) s ability model, emotional intelligence is defined as a set of abilities
that involves perceiving and reasoning abstractly with information that emerges from feelings (p.
389). Studies of John D. Mayer and Peter Salovey (1997) have supported this model stating that
emotional intelligence is defined as the ability to perceive accurately, appraise, and express
emotion; the ability to access and/or generate feelings when they facilitate thought; the ability to
understand emotion and emotional knowledge; and the ability to regulate emotions to promote
emotional and intellectual growth (p. 35). In addition, Mayer, Salovey, and Caruso (2004) gave the
definition of the emotional intelligence as the capacity to

Webster s dictionary defines the Internet as a widely used networking interface, connecting several
very large information servers (193). The Internet is a good way for companies or anyone to get
information out to the entire world. Electronic marketing (e marketing) is a very large part of the
Internet. E marketing is the process of creating, distributing, promoting, and pricing products for
targeted customers in the virtual environment of the Internet (Ferrell 597). There are many
advantages and disadvantages to e marketing.

Often times there are many ads circulating at the same place. When I surf the Internet usually I am
doing it for one reason, to gather information. The last thing I am going to want is some company
sticking their add right in my face. I believe if consumers want to buy these products, they would
visit websites of companies who sold them.
A third disadvantage to e marketing is intrusive e mail. E mail is a good way to communicate long
distances for free. Like postal mail, people can receive junk mail electronically. This has always
burned me. With postal junk mail simply throwing out what is unwanted solves the problem. E
mail is different. Junk mail will continue to compile on a computer until it is deleted out. This
takes up valuable space on the hard drive and also valuable time of the recipient.
As long as there are disadvantages there must always be at least one advantage to whatever is
under review. If there weren t it wouldn t exists. One advantage to e marketing is the availability
of products to consumers. The Internet is running twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. To
the consumer the Internet is a great place to shop around. There are many places to get the same
products; and being able to shop from the comfort of your own home is a nice convenience. Firms
also benefit from these factors. They can sell products to people who normally may not be able to

Abraham Harold Maslow and Self Actualization
Abraham Harold Maslow was born on April 1, 1908 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the oldest
of seven children born to his parents, who were uneducated Jewish immigrants from Russia. His
parents, wanting the best for their children in the new world , pushed him hard in his academic
studies. He was smart but shy, and remembered his childhood as being lonely and rather
unhappy. He sought refuge in his books and studies. His father hoped he would study as a
lawyer, and Maslow enrolled in the City College of New York. After three semesters at CCNY, he
transferred to Cornell and then back to CCNY again. He married his first cousin Bertha, against his
parent s wishes and moved to Wisconsin, where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maslow became the leader of the humanistic school of psychology that emerged in the 1950 s and
1960 s, which he referred to as the third force , beyond Freudian theory and behaviorism. Also
during this period of his life, he came into contact with the many European intellectuals that
were immigrating to the United States, Brooklyn in particular, people like Adler, Fromm,
Horney, as well as several Gestalt and Freudian psychologists. In 1951, Maslow served as the
chair of the psychology department at Brandeis for 10 years, where he met Kurt Goldstein, who
introduced him to the idea of self actualization, and helped him begin his own theoretical work.
It was also here that he began his crusade for a humanistic psychology, something ultimately
much more important to him than his own theorizing. In, 1969 he became a resident fellow of
the Laughlin Institute in California. A year later after several years of ill health he died of a
heart attack on June 8th. One of the many interesting things that Maslow noticed, while early in
his career working with monkeys, was that some needs take precedence over others. For example,
if you are hungry and thirsty, you will tend to try and take care of the thirst first. After all, you can
live without food for several weeks, but you can only live a few days without water. Maslow took

53. The Similarities And Differences Of Fairy Folk Tales
Comparative Analysis Essay
Fairy Folk Tales are the most popular types of literature. The tale is an orally transmitted
tradition by generations through the time; some events are changed to fit reality and society.
Folk fairy tales deal with the dualism of the good and the evil. They are basing on a conflict
between the good and the evil forces. The conclusion comes from aspirations of the human desire
to achieve the justices. There are no known authors and sources for ancient s literature. We have
many versions of the story; they are credited by many authors later. Each tale is very like some
other culture s tale. Each culture has own tales, but all the tales are similarities and differences in
some points. This essay will compare between two fairy tales, Cinderella and In the Land of Small
Dragon . The tale of Cinderella is a French tale. It is credited by Charles Perrault; it is published in
1697. The in the Land of Small Dragon is a Vietnamese folktale; it is told by Dang Manh Kha in
1979.
The tale works to improve the man s image, as a fair and a wise father; or a prince who is the
savior of hopeless girl. The hopeless girl expresses a kind and a simple girl; otherwise, the woman
mirrors a wicked, jealous, and ugly character. That is clear in these two fairy tales. While
Cinderella and Tam were little kids, they lost their mothers. At this point, each of them her suffering
and the painful journey begins. Cinderella lives in her father s house with a stepmother and
