Border Security Essay
There are tons and tons of the supposed problems with immigration like, the threat to the U.S.
economy. But one of many big problems with immigration is the security problems it creates. The
security problems they make pose no direct security threat, but millions of undocumented migrants
being in the United States distort the law, distracts resources, and it makes an effective cover for
terrorists and criminals. The solution for this problem focuses exclusively on border security. Many
people believe immigration has been a problem for a long time, but it become a matter of national
security shortly after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. After the attacks, the George W. Bush
administration changed the role of immigration agencies, including them in a strategy to combat
terrorism. The Department of Homeland security took over jurisdiction of Immigration and Customs
Enforcement (ICE). At that point immigrants were established as a threat to internal security. There is
many solutions to this growing problem but the best way is to maintain and increase the efforts to
enhance border security.Congress and The Department of Homeland Security has explored a number
of solutions to threats at our borders, like illicit drugs to illegal immigration. Because of that this is a
well researched and the best solution. This solution addresses the ... Show more content on

there is alway the possibility that it would not work. Some problems are that the immigrants could
came into the United States by plane, so because of that border patrol can t stop them coming into the
U.S. Since the border is being watched most of the immigrants would start coming in by plane and
that would make a big problem. We can overcome these problems by making people on planes show
their papers to authorized personnel. That would stop or mostly stop illegal immigrants coming into
the country and making security

The World Of The Human Race Essay
Since the beginning of the human race, the ocean has been a major source of food. People near the
shores have been taking of advantage of the ocean s rich and diverse source of nourishment for
centuries, both as a source of food and a livelihood. However, since the dawn of the industrial age,
humans have begun to take from the ocean more that it can give. As a result, the ocean can no longer
provide the human race with the abundance that it once did. As technology rapidly advances,
populations skyrocket, and global warming spreads havoc, the ocean s biodiversity and once abundant
supply of fish is dwindling, calling marine scientists and experts to race to find solutions that will
restore the oceans health while battling world hunger.
If one were to describe what he or she thought of when thinking of the earliest humans, thousands of
years ago, chances are that the cliché image of a big game hunter or cave man, running across a
savanna, chasing down wooly methods and saber tooth tigers would come to mind. And while this
hyperbolized scenario may hold some truth to it, a large component of human history is negated from
it. The first known interaction between humans and the sea dates back to nearly 160,000 years ago.
Archeologists have discovered remnants of shellfish littering the floors of caves that were occupied by
the earliest known humans. Shellfish were gathered by early humans and were essential in provided

The For A Good Risk Management Plan
Alcohol and rock concerts often intersected over the course of time; plenty of concerts and festivals
have either used alcohol as a sponsor or ancillary revenue. Alcohol and other types of concessions sold
at festivals are considered ancillary revenue because it is derived from goods or services other than the
primary service or good being offered (What is ancillary revenue, 2015, para.1). Therefore, serving
alcohol at festivals is another way for the promotors, event managers, and the venue to obtain
additional source of revenue. As the event manager for the Freedom festival, a rock roll festival being
held at the PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, NC; it is the intention of the festival to provide the
patrons with a safe and fun environment to enjoy their favorite music.
The basis for a good risk management plan is providing a risk assessment for the event before
determining how to address the possible risks. A risk assessment is a process to identify potential
hazards and analyze what could happen if a hazard occurs (Risk Assessment, 2015, para.1). Therefore,
the risk assessment will be used to identify the possible problems that can arise from alcohol. The
Freedom Festival event planning committee is aware of, and concerned about the risks and issues that
are associated with the availability of alcohol throughout the course of the event, so they plan is to
create a risk management plan to address these risks. Violence, alcohol poisoning, drunk driving,

How Entertainment Has Ruined Society Essay
In every sense, ruined is a relative term. On his third birthday, my cousin Collin received a bright red
toy fire truck, which promptly broke after a mere hour of playtime, summoning a myriad of tears from
the young boy. In my eyes, a broken wheel on a toy was not the end of the world, after all, Collin
could still push it around with only three wheels. To me, the toy was still decently functioning,
therefore I didn t consider it to be ruined. However, to Collin, who could not see past the fact that right
at that moment his fire truck had fewer wheels than was acceptable, his truck was unusable; it was
ruined. By the same token, the definition of ruined varies from person to person, as the term relates to
the condition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now more than ever, we are susceptible to the influence of these atrocities and we choose to let them
over power the glimmer of dignity that those with morals cling to. This became exceptionally clear to
me when on the way to church camp, our driver began to sing along to one of these over sexed songs.
There s nothing quite like hearing the woman who would later lead your Bible study wailing blow my
whistle to open your eyes to societal ruin. With the ideas and behaviors hinted at in movies, music,
and television filling the gaping holes where the traditional values of previous generations once
solidly stood, it s implausible to honestly say that there is nothing wrong with state of humanity.
According to some, this moral turpitude found in so much of today s entertainment and its influence
can be ignored, and thus, is not a significant contributor to societal ruin. Most of the time, this is true
if one takes the path less traveled and stays strong in the morals that so few have. However, Patsy
Byers and William Savage, who were shot by the copycat killers inspired to murder by the movie
Natural Born Killers, would beg to differ. Before the crime was committed, both victims might have
been great people who completely secluded

Critical Analysis Of The Sandy Hook Shooting
On the morning of December 14, 2012, America experienced its deadliest mass shooting at a grade
school and the fourth deadliest mass shooting by a single person. All of America was left reeling as the
details of what transpired were shared through every media outlet. Media reporters and American
citizens were left wondering about how could this have happened and how could we have prevented
this heinous crime. In looking for an explanation the Media emphasized various topics such as mental
health, violent video games, and gun control as possible catalysts. This essay will provide a critical
analysis of what happened in the Sandy Hook Shooting, the media s role in public opinion, and the
arguments laid forth by claims makers as associated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

classroom, Lanza killed another teacher, teacher s aide, and 6 students. It is in this second classroom
where Lanza commits suicide. Within minutes 26 people were killed, 20 of them being children
between the ages of 6 and 7 years old. The weapon used by Adam Lanza during the shooting was a
Bushmaster .223 caliber rifle. Found near his body were a semiautomatic .223 caliber rifle and two
handguns. In the car, there was an Izhmash Saiga 12 (CNN Library 1). All the guns were legally
purchased and registered by his mother, Nancy Lanza. Investigators would soon find out that Nancy
was an avid gun collector and enthusiast. Not only did Nancy provide access to the weapons, she also
brought Adam and his older brother to a shooting range for target practice (Bankcoff 1). Adam Lanza,
20 years old at the time of the shooting, had been diagnosed with Asperger s syndrome and Obsessive
Compulsive Disorder. According to a report by Connecticut s Office of Child Advocate Lanza was an
individual with deteriorating mental health and a fascination with mass shootings. Before the shooting,
Lanza had cut off all communication to reality, secluding himself to his room where he played hours
of violent video games and obsessed over mass murders. During the police investigation, his computer
was found to contain stories, movies, and video games all related to

Jimmy Santiago Baca s Speech
Meaningful, powerful, thought provoking are only just a few words that can be used to describe
Jimmy Santiago Baca s writing. Baca s book titled, Spring Poems Along the Rio Grande is a collection
of short poems, which take readers on a journey through his spiritual union and connection with
nature, primarily a river. Through the use of his poems, Baca expresses his hardship and struggles
growing up in New Mexico while connecting his need to find spiritually in nature and all it has to
offer. Baca s spiritual journey can be seen through his use of personification, metaphors and
symbolisms. After reading Baca s book of short poems, it is apparent that he finds comfort in nature
and feels himself becoming one with it. His use of personification ... Show more content on

Through personification, metaphors and symbolisms he s able to express himself eloquently. The
following lines from his short poem, I Have No Answers, symbolizes his connection with nature and
Christ. When people kneel reverently in church pews, when a million hands are folding in prayers to
the Lord...I pray to the halo lust of leaves, Christ...and everywhere I look, I see the resurrection now
He is this river water... (pg 61). Baca is trying to symbolize and connect the idea that Christ is
everywhere for him, he is not just in a church, he is also in nature, in the river, in the leaves. The
essence of Christ is all around and because he s found a spiritual connection with nature he s able to
experience this prosperity. In his short poem titled, Spring Arrives, Baca is trying to symbolize the
idea that if Christ is flowing through the river then he is ready to allow Christ to enter his soul and
receive forgiveness for his mistakes. Creator in the form of a river flowing to the Gulf...breathe in me,
fill my lungs, replenish my sight... (pg 9). Throughout all of Baca s poems, the idea of accepting
nature as a form of guidance is present and it s a strong theme. Nature, is his savior and accepting it
has allowed him to better himself and find a way to block out all of his bad

Bisto Gravy Spring Chair Sunday Analysis
unday chair was inspired from a friend of mine volunteering to feed an elderly person at her house,
from the organization sponsored by Bisto Gravy called, Spare Chair Sunday. Volunteers are sought
after to offer this interaction with an elderly person who has no family.
I felt there is a lot of ignorance surrounding this topic and I wanted to bring light to this situation in a
humorous way. Showing what a difference can be made to that one person who is lonely, with no
family.
This charity struggles with volunteers because the elderly are stereotyped. Although this may be the
case, I wanted to bring humor to this, which I d hope would inspire the younger generation to do their
bit, as they too, will become old one day.

I wanted them sat down where there is separation between them, yet at the same time they remain
close because at the very end of this act is the revelation that Abertha, Bertie , was in fact Eileen s
mum s best friend as Bertie notices the photo which was taken sixty years ago with her and EIleens
mother aged sixteen. The third act is initiated with a flash back. This is so their back story is shown,
bringing dimension to the stage 2 young girls, euphorically happy dressed in 1950 s dresses as they re
off to a disco. The next flash back is of the two women saying goodbye as they move, unwillingly on
with their lives. It shows the closeness between Grace and Bertie, yet due to life, men and time, they
become separated, yet throughout their lives, having never forgot one another and their memories
having always remained close within their hearts. This again relates to todays society. I lost my best
friend at the age of 18, and this was the final inspiration to this story. I was lucky to have made our
friendship up a week before she died. This here isn t the case, but meeting the daughter of her best
friend is second best, and because the Bertie has no family, it shows that now she has and although
Eileen didn t want to even invite an old person over, it shows what good can be

Essay about Bartelby the Scrivener
Bartelby the Scrivener Herman Melville, an American novelist and major literary figure explored
psychological themes in many of his works. Through his writing, Melville recreated a part of life that
existed then, and is prevalent in our society today. Low self esteem along with self perception and how
others perceive us can be a factor leading to depression. Depression, if left untreated can become so
severe that it is possible to cause someone to lose the will to live. I will clarify this illness and it s ill
effects in the story Bartleby the Scrivener , by Herman Melville.
Bartleby, the main character in this story, starts out a worker in the dead letter office in Washington.
Exposing someone to a depressed situation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bartleby s existence as we were led to believe seemed like a death in life existence. Bartleby was a
man incapable of experiencing emotions and isolated himself from his environment. A lofty brick
wall, black by age and everlasting shade. A lot of Bartleby time was spent staring outside at the blank
wall, which seemed to be a reflection of the isolation and loneliness in his own life. As time passed
Bartleby verbally stated when asked to comply with his work responsibilities I prefer not to. His
protest for the work was very direct and yet very passive. Bartleby seems to have a distinctive,
dysfunctional personality. But he wrote on silently, palely, mechanically . This passage shows the
debilitating effects of such a depressed life. I prefer not to seemed to be the only verbal
communication he was capable of at the present time. Although he appeared to be referring to his
work subconsciously his true feelings for death were stated, as I prefer not to.
As the story continues it becomes obvious that Bartleby could not be saved from himself, nor did he
want help from anyone else. Bartleby seemed to put up a brick wall between him and the world. He
would not allow anyone into his self destructive deteriorating world. Strangely huddled at the base of
the wall, his knees drawn up, and lying on his sides, his head touching the cold stone, I saw the wasted
Bartleby. From this excerpt, we

Theme Of Masculinity In The Lais Of Marie De France
Masculinity is represented in various ways within The Lais of Marie de France. Masculinity is
sometimes depicted in untraditional ways through animal representation, the dominance of women,
and in negative a light through the prideful and selfish acts of the male characters. The qualities,
which are often seen as manly, are quite apparent in an animalistic form of masculinity in the deer in
Guigemar, in comparison to the female lover. The women in Lanval show a sense of manhood in their
authority and power over the situations of the story. Les Deus Amanz tells a poignant story of two
men, and how their over masculine traits of pride, jealousy, and possessiveness lead them to the exact
places in which they were avoiding all along. All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is represented here when the king, ...entered the queen s apartments and when she saw him, she
complained aloud, fell at his feet, cried for mercy and said that Lanval had shamed her (77). After the
queen offers herself and attempts to throw herself at Lanval, he denies her because of his new fairy
like lover. Once the king walks in the queen victimizes herself as soon as she sets eyes on him. Her
ability to completely transform herself at the sight of her husband and manipulate his thoughts to her
favor shows the power of women. In showing her weakness by falling to her feet and putting herself in
a vulnerable position, she is ultimately taking the power into her own hands. With his wife in this
state, the king feels an obligation to protect her by punishing whoever did her wrong. In reaction to the
queen s account of what Lanval has done, The king grew very angry and swore on oath that, if Lanval
could not defend himself in court, he would have him burned or hanged (77). This is a significant act
because it displays the control a woman has in a relationship, It also demonstrates how a dominant
feminist character influences her male counterpart s masculinity and gives it purpose within a

Buck V Bell Case Summary
Buck v.Bell. 274 U.S. 200. Supreme Court (1927). Rpt. in Bioethics and The Law. Ed. Janet L. Dolgin
Lois L. Shepherd. New York: Wolters Kluwer Law and Business, 2013. 254.
Written by Justice Holmes, the infamous Buck v Bell opinion, gives a summary and an analysis of
how the court reached the decision to uphold Virginia s sterilization statute. The case involved Carrie
Buck, an 18 year old women in a Virginia institution for feeble minded individuals, she was to be
sterilized after being found to be feeble minded. In addition to the summary of the case, Holmes raises
his concerns with having more feeble minded individuals and criminals parading the streets which
justifies coerced sterilization.
Justice Holmes opinion creates a picture of negative eugenics which makes this case a pinnacle in
coerced sterilization discourse. Written in 1927, this opinion is the only primary source on this list,
with the exception of the opinion by Justice Douglas concerning Skinner v Oklahoma. It is also
important to note that this opinion is the only source advocating for coerced sterilization.

Criticism In Animal Farm And The Prophet s Hair
Literature generally reflects life. It doesn t just describe the events; it creates characters and conflicts
to help the reader better understand the meaning of the events. Modern literature is often linked to
ideology, either supporting or discriminating it. George Orwell s Animal Farm and Salman Rushdie s
The Prophet s Hair are among the literary texts that attack the ideologies, Communism and Islam
respectively. Even though the texts are written in the genres that are usually used to support the
principles and ideas of the philosophy they promote, Animal Farm and The Prophet s Hair undermine
these philosophies. There are certain similarities in the way G.Orwell and S.Rushdie discriminate the
ideologies in question; however, some differences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, the tone of describing events and characters in both texts is sarcastic. Humorous undertone
is expressed by different means: caricatures, contrasts and hyberbolisations in Animal Farm; high
diction and exaggeration in The Prophet s Hair ( procession , endless ululating crocodiles of
lamentation , ramifications , massive police search ). Moreover, both protagonists, Napoleon and
Hashim, are obsessed with the idea. Napoleon puts in place any means to achieve his goal; and
Hashim becomes a different person, betraying his own principles, in order to satisfy the requirements
of his new ideas. Worship of the ideology, be it Communism or Islam, is at the core of the conflicts. In
addition, both characters use their ideologies, but not common sense and consciousness, to justify their
acts. Napoleon s every new decision, even the most abnormal, is supported by Surely, comrades, you
do not want Jones back? ; by Jones implying the old regime. After these words every argument
becomes unanswerable. For his part Hashim uses religion to justify his greed and passion. He tells
himself: ...the Prophet would have disapproved mightily of this relic worship: he abhorred the idea of
being deified, so by keeping this rotting hair from its mindless devotees, I perform do I not? a finer

Sustainable Development Goals Twelve s Targets
Sustainable Development Goal Twelve s targets can be evaluated by their potential measurability,
however, key terms in the target wording lack quantifiable definitions making measurement difficult.
For example, target 12.2 refers to the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources
(emphasis added) (UN DESA, 2015). While sustainability conceptually encapsulates meeting the
needs of today without compromising the needs of tomorrow, in practical application, quantifying any
population s need for natural resources is very difficult (GEOG 200, Sept 17, Slide 17/18). Though
efficiency is easier to quantify the fraction of useful work done out of total energy supplied measuring
the efficient use of natural resources is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Food waste can be measured at both the consumer and producer levels, and other waste production is
measured by sector. Target 12.3 also contains the numerical goal of halving as a benchmark for
success of the target. The success of 12.5 would be determined on the basis of what the numerical
definition of substantially entailed.
Part Two: Is it Already Measured?
I have omitted a discussion of target 12.1 since its measurement would require an extensive
evaluation of the contents of the 10YFP.
The following section will present evidence of attempts at measurement for targets 12.2 through 12.8
inclusively. It should be noted that there is no evidence of current attempts to measure the topics
related to 12.6, 12.7, or 12.8.
As stated, the measurement of 12.2 is complex and sector specific. There have nonetheless been
efforts by the United Nations to develop natural resource accounting frameworks, as evidenced by the
Handbook of National Accounting: Integrated Environmental and Economic Accounting 2003 or
SEEA 2003. SEEA 2003 provides a model for quantifiable sustainability (SEEA, 2003, p. 34).
Applications of SEEA 2003 accounting models are limited, however; for instance, only 36 countries
have standardized their measurement of sustainable and efficient water usage on the basis of the SEEA
2003 accounting system (GAO, 2007, p. 9).
The release of chemicals into the environment (12.4) is frequently measured. The most extensive
source of measurement is the

or coaches that train and challenge a person. In education, there are teachers and upperclassmen. In the

is always an individual who can assist them through guidance and encouragement. The idea that

Why Polylactic Acid And Polypropylene
A plastic water bottle must be able to hold it shape, withstand high temperatures, must not absorb the
water or release toxins, should be easy to clean and must be eco friendly. To understand this, it is first
necessary to define polymers, how they are made and the intermolecular forces that lead to polymers
properties. Two polymers, Polylactic acid and polypropylene, will be explained to illustrate the
connection between structure and properties. The differences and similarities will be explained,
followed by the environmental and economic considerations. These factors will be used to show why
Polylactic acid is preferable to other polymers for the production of water bottle.
A polymer is a long chain of molecules made up of many repeating identical units called monomers. A
polymer made from two or more repeating units of monomers are called copolymers (Smith et al.,
2006). Monomers are often made up of Hydrogen and Carbon with extra elements such as Oxygen,
Nitrogen and Chlorine, creating the backbone of the polymer. These can be made synthetically, such
as polyethylene or occur naturally like cellulose, as are the polymers being investigated are. Polylactic
acid is made naturally and Polypropylene is made synthetically. Polymers can be three dimensional
networks which don t melt such as epoxy resin, and are called thermoset polymers, two dimensional
or one dimensional networks or chains which can be melted such as polypropylene called
thermoplastic polymers

strengths, and as areas to improve in my personal life. Those values are Respect, Selfless Service, and

The first Army Value I see as a strength is Respect. I chose the Army Value respect because that s
something I would want someone to give me. In my eyes, when you first met someone, your first
impression or their first impression determines if you ve gained their respect or if they have gained

Thematic content analysis was used in order to be able to draw conclusions from the qualitative data
from the interviews and document review (DeSantis Noel Ugarriza, 2000). Qualitative content
analysis is defined as: a research method for the subjective interpretation of the content of text data
through the systematic classification process of coding and identifying themes or patterns (Hsieh
Shannon, 2005, p.1278). This means that the data input is evaluated to search for patterns that extend
across the data and coded into categories in order to develop data interpretations (Vaismoradi,
Turunen, Bondas, 2013). For this purpose ATLAS.ti was used to analyse the qualitative data findings.
Codes were first prepared in accordance with the theoretical framework (for this framework see
Appendix B) (Braun Clarke, 2006). ATLAS.ti was used for assigning open codes as well as to create
coding memos. Codes and themes were analysed and related to theory formulation (see Appendix C
for the code book that was used in ATLAS.ti) (for a review and practical guide to using qualitative
data analysis see Hwang, 2008). For each code, an output was created. This output consists of a file in
which all the quotations of a certain code to be put one after the other, these are the passages that are
encoded from all the transcripts. This output file then gives a quick

Colloid Hypertonic Saline
Colloid and Hypertonic Saline Due to the high morbidity associated with high volume resuscitations,
an interest exists in using various colloid solutions to both decrease edema and volume requirements
and blunt the myocardial depression phenomena observed with large burns. An important
consideration for adding colloid in the first 24 hours is the loss of capillary integrity during early burn
shock. This process occurs early and is present for 8 24 hours depending on which authority is
referenced. A strategy for testing whether the capillary leak has begun to resolve involves substituting
an equal volume of albumin solution for RL solution. An increase in urine output suggests that at least
some of the leak has resolved and that the further ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, after the first 8 hours, the fluid is changed to RL solution to complete the resuscitation.
Hypertonic saline management must be titrated closely to both urine output and serum sodium checks
and probably should not be used routinely outside of tertiary burn centers. The safety and benefits of
hypertonic saline resuscitation extend to both the pediatric and geriatric populations, but using
solutions at the lower end of tonicity is probably safer. The greatest benefit may ultimately be for
those patients with the most limited cardiopulmonary reserves, those with inhalation injury, and those
with larger burns approaching 40% or

Minors Use Social Media
Social media is expanding due to its popularity; however it may be used for many different reasons.
Many minors use it as a form of entertainment and interaction between friends and even other people
around the world. Although minors use social media as a form of entertainment and interaction,
nevertheless minors should not be able to use social media because it causes health issues, exposes
them to explicit content, and promotes violence. Social media causing health issues in minors is

Research Paper On Chemotherapy
Should Chemo Be The Only Option?
Chemotherapy began in the 20th century. Chemotherapy is a drug treatment used to get rid of
diseases. Chemotherapy is intended to shrink the cancerous tumor and attempt to rid of any cancer in
the body. Patients who undergo this treatment often have side effects including ; destroying their
immune system, increasing their neurocognitive decline, it disrupts endocrine functioning and causes
organ and metabolic toxicities.Well aware of these side effects, most cancer patients tend to not want
to use chemotherapy. As a cancer patient under the legal age it can become difficult to refuse
treatment, and even harder to use alternate treatment.

Some patients or parents of patients believe chemotherapy is not the answer , such as Hauser and
Becker. Chemotherapy works by destroying dividing cells, but while attacking the cancer cells; it also
attacks your hair, skin, and blood cells. Many people believe chemo will ruin their immune system
and sicken their body more. Chemotherapy can make you feel nauseated and make you throw up. It
can make your hair fall out. It can temporarily depress the immune system. It can cause bleeding
complications, such as GI bleeding. It can cause kidney damage. It can cause heart damage. It can
cause lung damage. It can cause nerve damage. It can make you lose weight. It can even result in your
death from complications. (David Gorski).Patients often choose to do their own treatment to replace
chemotherapy or they do it while doing chemo as well. A alternate treatment is the use of marijuana
oil. There s some support showing they can reduce chemotherapy related pain and other symptoms
like vomiting and nausea in patients. Elsewhere, other research has shown cannabinoids can uniquely
target and kill cancer cells (Ed Cara). The issue with patients using this alternate treatment is that
insurance does not want to support the cost of it when there is chemotherapy and radiation. Patients
who decide to use this can cost them up to $1000 a month. Although marijuana is becoming legal in
most states , insurance companies refuse to pay for the use of

The Importance Of Morality In Homer s Odyssey
The overall point of Homer s Odyssey is to teach Greek morals and social behaviors through heroic
tales featuring the main character, Odysseus, and the struggles he must go through to return to, and
defend, his wife and family. Ancient Greek culture idolized strong, fearless warriors, an idea that is
prevalent among most Greek mythology, especially the Odyssey. If it had not have been for Odysseus
bravery he would not have been able to overcome the obstacles that stood in his path towards home.
While Odysseus is exercising his bravery, his wife, Penelope, and son are trapped in their home with
men who hope to marry Penelope. Homer preys on the suitors disrespectful behavior to teach humility
and respect. Conversely, Homer s teaching of hospitality illustrates the ideal host. Even when their
guests are unwanted, Telemachus and Penelope play the role of hosts and offer food, drink, and a
place to sleep for all of their guests. Nearly everywhere Odysseus goes, the practice of hospitality is
held in utmost reverence. Through teachings of bravery, respect, and hospitality, Homer is able to
weave a series of epic tales, and create the image of quintessential Greek morality.
Bravery is taught to be a virtue in the Odyssey, due to the solutions of most conflicts within the story
being violent. Bravery was thought also to affect people in the afterlife, therefore the concept of the
fearless warrior was driven by the fear of what would happen to the cowardly. Odysseus fearlessness
is what drives the plot, from escaping the cyclops island to facing phantoms in Hades. Midway
through the story, Odysseus leaves Circe s island and travels to the underworld to consult a prophet.
On page 126, Tieresias the blind prophet tells Odysseus, You seek to return home, and home is sweet
as honey... you will find trouble in your house... you shall exact retribution from these men. Odysseus
did not know what awaited him at his home in Ithaca until that point. This shows that as soon as he
was presented with the information, Odysseus interpreted one option, which was violence. When
Odysseus finally made it home and the time came to be rid of Penelope s unwanted suitors, he
slaughtered them all. Once Odysseus and Telemachus were

Analysis Of Penny Stock Case Study
Penny Stock Case Study
The two stories talk about the meteoric price surge in the stock of a company called Cynk Technology
Corporation, with no actual revenue and tangible assets, and the purported manipulation of the stock
price through a pump and dump strategy. It can be seen how the Securities and Exchange Commission
together with the Department of Justice opened an indictment charging several people with
conspiracy, tax fraud and money laundering involving up to $500 million in assets routed through
offshore shell corporations that allowed clients to influence stock prices and hide their gains.
Generally, the fraudsters take control of an enterprise and offer to sell a chunk of shares usually to the
unsuspecting public with promises of very high returns. Promoters broadcast the company s prospects
by telling financiers to get in early before the rest of the market dives in the pump. Shares are often
bought and sold between fraudsters to give the appearance of active trading, further amplifying
interest as brokers contact clients to buy the stock. Once the price starts rising, the control block can
be dumped on the market, leaving investors with shares in a nearly worthless business (Bouraoui,
Mehanaoui Bahli, 2012). It also parleys the increase of penny stock fraud and the Securities and
Exchange Commission s inability to prosecute the fraudsters and protect investors.

Theory Of Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, And Lawrence Kohlberg
Customized Learning Theory Learning has been studied by numerous psychologist and theories over
the years by men and women around the world such as Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, and Lawrence
Kohlberg. These theorists and psychologists studied ways to improve teaching and motivating
children in learning. The study on how children are learning is important for both the teacher and the
student. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk to them when you sit in your
house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise (Deuteronomy 6:7,
English Standard Version, 2017). Teaching the children is the responsibility as a Christian. As the time
passes, it appears that these theories and approaches to learning are revolutionized as well. The Bible
is the most consistent guidance in learning theory that never appears to change.

which would benefit both herself, and Aziza. Similarly, Mariam exhibits her attribute of being bold as
well, when she strikes Rasheed with a shovel in order to save both Laila and herself: If she let him

vertical, and, as she did, it occurred to her that this was the first time that she was deciding the course

China s Economy And Its Impact On The Economy Essay
With the one of the fastest growing economies in the world, China s increased consumer spending,
rising incomes, with unique demographics and an increasingly open business huge population of 1.3
billion not only creates a massive internal consumer market environment that have all helped to make
the Chinese market increasingly attractive to international businesses across a variety of industries.
China is distinct from other developing markets in a number of important ways, all of which have
strong ramifications for marketers. To begin with, China s economy is far more diverse,. China s
superior infrastructure over other developing countries has significant implications for marketers in
terms of establishing routes to market. Consequently, China is now often seen as the most lucrative
opportunity in the developing world. The country is no longer just viewed as a low cost manufacturing
base, but also increasingly as a lucrative market with a receptive audience of customers. As such,
companies are now under growing pressure not only to better understand Chinese buyers, but also to
successfully navigate the many barriers and potential risks when trying to find a route into the China
market. Breaking into the China market successfully can seem like an almost impossible task to
foreign companies with limited or no experience of doing business there. Some of the key challenges
that foreign companies face when entering the China market for the first time are many in number as it

form of depression that affects people in the winter and, less commonly, in the summer. This paper

McMahon , et al, 2014). Another factor that can play into S.A.D. is melatonin, which helps with sleep
and wake cycles. Rosenthal, et al, notes how the pineal gland, the gland that produces melatonin, will
react to dark surroundings with drowsiness that can lead people to being lethargic (as cited in Melrose,
2015). When melatonin increases and serotonin decreases, the offset of the proteins can cause
circadian rhythms to be disrupted, which is the bodies 24 hour clock. Researcher Melrose writes that
...circadian rhythms respond to the rhythmic light dark changes that occur daily and throughout each

effective as light therapy. Light therapy is typically used in the mornings to help with circadian

Mcminn On Confession
Next, McMinn (2007) acknowledges the Christian Theology perspective on confession. According to
the author (2007), there are two kinds of relations to confession and Christian Theology, which are
confession and the sacrament of penance and confession and Scripture. McMinn (2007) points out that
the Christian church has constantly been engrossed in confession, but the way of confession has
altered during the past two millennia (p 221). According to the author (2007), numerous Spiritual
leaders, such as Saint Augustine and Saint Patrick writing of their confessions of faith and sin have

The author (2007) also points out the importance of the Roman Catholic views point about confession
and penance has three significate merits to confession. The first significate merit is that consistent
confession forces one to confront one s sin, meaning that one will not merely overlook or diminish
one s transgressions; instead it will cause one to take their sin more earnestly (p 213). The second
significate is that the act of penance, paying a price for sin, creates a mindfulness of the significance
of sin, meaning that it will not allow one to have a carelessness understanding toward sin of thinking
that one will always be simply forgiven; instead penance combats this predisposition by arresting
consequences for one s sin (p 213). The third Significate merit is that it lifts the burned of guilt by
forgiveness being granted during the ritual of penance, which can be extremely redemptive for some
individuals (p

Defects Of The Human Heart
In order to understand defects of the human heart, it is important to first understand its development.
Initially, the fetal heart is a simple tube, consisting of just three layers and three specific areas. These
primitive layers later develop into the myocardium and epicardium of the heart. The areas cranial
(head) end, caudal (tail) end, and bulbus cordis eventually form the aorta and ventricles.
Around the third week of pregnancy, the fetal heartbeat can be seen as a flicker on the ultrasound
monitor. At this stage, the heart organizes into two chambers one atrium on the left and one on the
right. Structural defects are most likely to occur during this time of development. Eight weeks after
conception, the fetal heart consists of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a healthy heart, the aorta is attached to the left ventricle for transportation of oxygen rich blood to
the body. An overriding aorta, another defect of tetralogy of Fallot, is one in which oxygen poor blood
flows directly into the aorta instead of into the pulmonary artery due to the aorta s position between
the left and right ventricles.
Narrowing of the pulmonary valve and the main pulmonary artery called pulmonary stenosis is the
third defect of tetralogy of Fallot. This obstruction forces the heart to work harder and deprives the
lungs of adequate amounts of oxygen rich blood. Because the heart is pumping at high pressure to
move blood through the narrowed pulmonary valve, the muscle of the right ventricle becomes thicker
than usual. This defect is known as right ventricular hypertrophy.
A small percentage of children with tetralogy of Fallot may also suffer from an atrial septal defect
(ASD). This is a hole in the septum that separates the atria of the heart. This defect causes blood to
flow directly from the left atrium to the right atrium, increasing the blood pressure in the lungs to
dangerous levels.
Heart conditions among newborns are relatively common, affecting almost 1 in 100 American babies.
Of these, tetralogy of Fallot accounts for 8 10% of all congenital heart diseases among newborns.
Although tetralogy of Fallot affects males and females equally, it is seen more commonly in children

The Architecture Of Gothic Architecture
Known for its pointed arches, flying buttresses, and detailed tracery, Gothic architecture emerged in
12th century northern France, and the style continued into the 16th century . Gothic architecture was

A Christian Perspective On Authority
to be a Christian. Weber would consider the priest in this situation a traditional authority figure
because he is respected because of the people s belief in the catholic religion. He represents traditional
practices and both the elect and sponsors both believe in the power and authority the priest wield
because of his authority. He is also legitimate because the priest has been through seminary school and
has contractually established his legitimacy through completion of the program which gives rise to
rational legal authority. Sociologist, Durkheim has an alternative perspective on authority. He defines
authority as, the bedrock of society. Without authority, man has no sense of duty, only when traditions,
codes, and roles have the effect of coercing, directing, or restraining man s impulses can it be said that
society is genuinely in existence (Smith, PowerPoint What is Authority). In other words, authority is
essential in order to have a functioning society. Inside of the church, social integration is high and
there are high forms of regulation. The people of the church are thoroughly involved during service
and responds back in unison in response to the priest commands. Everyone has a role, whether the
individual is an usher, altar server, or a parishioner. In mass, the main authority is the priest, however
everyone in the group holds high expectations, and these expectations is a form of regulation, because
if individual resist, then they will be looked down

Moreover, separated by a long river, on the other side is East Egg where people made of generations

wealthier, more elite of the two. Despite all his money, Gatsby lives in West Egg, suggesting that he

Essay on House of Sand and Fog
I read House of Sand and Fog by Andre Dubus III. This story is one of classic tragedy which also
contains a nearly unbearable amount of suspense. It tells a story of the conflict between people of
different races who have an inability to understand each other. They each want possession of a small
house in the California hills but for very different reasons.
On one side, there is Kathy Nicolo and Sheriff Lester Burdon who want the house from which Kathy

Then there is the Behranis, a Persian family who was forced to flee to America in fear of their lives.

and position of people like Colonel Behrani. He is very wise but has a quick temper that he usually

is a very kindhearted person who wants to help Kathy even though it conflicts with his family being

This book combines characteristics of a suspense thriller with those of a tragedy and is a very
interesting book to read. I liked the detail that the author went into about the psychological aspects of
the characters in making the decisions that they made. I thought that the characters were well
developed and I liked the detail that the author went into about the settings. A detailed setting can
really increase the intensity and realism of a situation in a book. This book contained some difficult
words that lower level readers might not understand. I would recommend that anyone looking for a

  • 2. Border Security Essay There are tons and tons of the supposed problems with immigration like, the threat to the U.S. economy. But one of many big problems with immigration is the security problems it creates. The security problems they make pose no direct security threat, but millions of undocumented migrants being in the United States distort the law, distracts resources, and it makes an effective cover for terrorists and criminals. The solution for this problem focuses exclusively on border security. Many people believe immigration has been a problem for a long time, but it become a matter of national security shortly after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. After the attacks, the George W. Bush administration changed the role of immigration agencies, including them in a strategy to combat terrorism. The Department of Homeland security took over jurisdiction of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). At that point immigrants were established as a threat to internal security. There is many solutions to this growing problem but the best way is to maintain and increase the efforts to enhance border security.Congress and The Department of Homeland Security has explored a number of solutions to threats at our borders, like illicit drugs to illegal immigration. Because of that this is a well researched and the best solution. This solution addresses the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... there is alway the possibility that it would not work. We can overcome these problems by making people on planes show their papers to authorized personnel. That would stop or mostly stop illegal immigrants coming into the country and making security ... • 3. The World Of The Human Race Essay Since the beginning of the human race, the ocean has been a major source of food. People near the shores have been taking of advantage of the ocean s rich and diverse source of nourishment for centuries, both as a source of food and a livelihood. However, since the dawn of the industrial age, humans have begun to take from the ocean more that it can give. As a result, the ocean can no longer provide the human race with the abundance that it once did. As technology rapidly advances, populations skyrocket, and global warming spreads havoc, the ocean s biodiversity and once abundant supply of fish is dwindling, calling marine scientists and experts to race to find solutions that will restore the oceans health while battling world hunger. If one were to describe what he or she thought of when thinking of the earliest humans, thousands of years ago, chances are that the cliché image of a big game hunter or cave man, running across a savanna, chasing down wooly methods and saber tooth tigers would come to mind. And while this hyperbolized scenario may hold some truth to it, a large component of human history is negated from it. The first known interaction between humans and the sea dates back to nearly 160,000 years ago. Archeologists have discovered remnants of shellfish littering the floors of caves that were occupied by the earliest known humans. Shellfish were gathered by early humans and were essential in provided essential omega 3 fatty acids for necessary brain development ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The For A Good Risk Management Plan Alcohol and rock concerts often intersected over the course of time; plenty of concerts and festivals have either used alcohol as a sponsor or ancillary revenue. Alcohol and other types of concessions sold at festivals are considered ancillary revenue because it is derived from goods or services other than the primary service or good being offered (What is ancillary revenue, 2015, para.1). Therefore, serving alcohol at festivals is another way for the promotors, event managers, and the venue to obtain additional source of revenue. As the event manager for the Freedom festival, a rock roll festival being held at the PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, NC; it is the intention of the festival to provide the patrons with a safe and fun environment to enjoy their favorite music. The basis for a good risk management plan is providing a risk assessment for the event before determining how to address the possible risks. A risk assessment is a process to identify potential hazards and analyze what could happen if a hazard occurs (Risk Assessment, 2015, para.1). Therefore, the risk assessment will be used to identify the possible problems that can arise from alcohol. The Freedom Festival event planning committee is aware of, and concerned about the risks and issues that are associated with the availability of alcohol throughout the course of the event, so they plan is to create a risk management plan to address these risks. • 5. How Entertainment Has Ruined Society Essay In every sense, ruined is a relative term. On his third birthday, my cousin Collin received a bright red toy fire truck, which promptly broke after a mere hour of playtime, summoning a myriad of tears from the young boy. In my eyes, a broken wheel on a toy was not the end of the world, after all, Collin could still push it around with only three wheels. To me, the toy was still decently functioning, therefore I didn t consider it to be ruined. However, to Collin, who could not see past the fact that right at that moment his fire truck had fewer wheels than was acceptable, his truck was unusable; it was ruined. By the same token, the definition of ruined varies from person to person, as the term relates to the condition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now more than ever, we are susceptible to the influence of these atrocities and we choose to let them over power the glimmer of dignity that those with morals cling to. This became exceptionally clear to me when on the way to church camp, our driver began to sing along to one of these over sexed songs. There s nothing quite like hearing the woman who would later lead your Bible study wailing blow my whistle to open your eyes to societal ruin. With the ideas and behaviors hinted at in movies, music, and television filling the gaping holes where the traditional values of previous generations once solidly stood, it s implausible to honestly say that there is nothing wrong with state of humanity. According to some, this moral turpitude found in so much of today s entertainment and its influence can be ignored, and thus, is not a significant contributor to societal ruin. Most of the time, this is true if one takes the path less traveled and stays strong in the morals that so few have. However, Patsy Byers and William Savage, who were shot by the copycat killers inspired to murder by the movie Natural Born Killers, would beg to differ. Before the crime was committed, both victims might have been great people who completely secluded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The essence of Christ is all around and because he s found a spiritual connection with nature he s able to experience this prosperity. In his short poem titled, Spring Arrives, Baca is trying to symbolize the idea that if Christ is flowing through the river then he is ready to allow Christ to enter his soul and receive forgiveness for his mistakes. Creator in the form of a river flowing to the Gulf...breathe in me, fill my lungs, replenish my sight... (pg 9). I felt there is a lot of ignorance surrounding this topic and I wanted to bring light to this situation in a humorous way. Showing what a difference can be made to that one person who is lonely, with no family. This charity struggles with volunteers because the elderly are stereotyped. The third act is initiated with a flash back. As time passed Bartleby verbally stated when asked to comply with his work responsibilities I prefer not to. His protest for the work was very direct and yet very passive. Bartleby seems to have a distinctive, dysfunctional personality. But he wrote on silently, palely, mechanically . This passage shows the debilitating effects of such a depressed life. I prefer not to seemed to be the only verbal communication he was capable of at the present time. Although he appeared to be referring to his work subconsciously his true feelings for death were stated, as I prefer not to. As the story continues it becomes obvious that Bartleby could not be saved from himself, nor did he want help from anyone else. Bartleby seemed to put up a brick wall between him and the world. He would not allow anyone into his self destructive deteriorating world. • 11. Theme Of Masculinity In The Lais Of Marie De France Masculinity is represented in various ways within The Lais of Marie de France. Masculinity is sometimes depicted in untraditional ways through animal representation, the dominance of women, and in negative a light through the prideful and selfish acts of the male characters. The qualities, which are often seen as manly, are quite apparent in an animalistic form of masculinity in the deer in Guigemar, in comparison to the female lover. The women in Lanval show a sense of manhood in their authority and power over the situations of the story. Once the king walks in the queen victimizes herself as soon as she sets eyes on him. Her ability to completely transform herself at the sight of her husband and manipulate his thoughts to her favor shows the power of women. In showing her weakness by falling to her feet and putting herself in a vulnerable position, she is ultimately taking the power into her own hands. With his wife in this state, the king feels an obligation to protect her by punishing whoever did her wrong. In reaction to the queen s account of what Lanval has done, The king grew very angry and swore on oath that, if Lanval could not defend himself in court, he would have him burned or hanged (77). The case involved Carrie Buck, an 18 year old women in a Virginia institution for feeble minded individuals, she was to be sterilized after being found to be feeble minded. In addition to the summary of the case, Holmes raises his concerns with having more feeble minded individuals and criminals parading the streets which justifies coerced sterilization. Justice Holmes opinion creates a picture of negative eugenics which makes this case a pinnacle in coerced sterilization discourse. Written in 1927, this opinion is the only primary source on this list, with the exception of the opinion by Justice Douglas concerning Skinner v Oklahoma. It doesn t just describe the events; it creates characters and conflicts to help the reader better understand the meaning of the events. Modern literature is often linked to ideology, either supporting or discriminating it. George Orwell s Animal Farm and Salman Rushdie s The Prophet s Hair are among the literary texts that attack the ideologies, Communism and Islam respectively. Even though the texts are written in the genres that are usually used to support the principles and ideas of the philosophy they promote, Animal Farm and The Prophet s Hair undermine these philosophies. Moreover, both protagonists, Napoleon and Hashim, are obsessed with the idea. Napoleon puts in place any means to achieve his goal; and Hashim becomes a different person, betraying his own principles, in order to satisfy the requirements of his new ideas. Worship of the ideology, be it Communism or Islam, is at the core of the conflicts. In addition, both characters use their ideologies, but not common sense and consciousness, to justify their acts. Napoleon s every new decision, even the most abnormal, is supported by Surely, comrades, you do not want Jones back? ; by Jones implying the old regime. After these words every argument becomes unanswerable. For his part Hashim uses religion to justify his greed and passion. Sustainable Development Goals Twelve s Targets Sustainable Development Goal Twelve s targets can be evaluated by their potential measurability, however, key terms in the target wording lack quantifiable definitions making measurement difficult. For example, target 12.2 refers to the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources (emphasis added) (UN DESA, 2015). While sustainability conceptually encapsulates meeting the needs of today without compromising the needs of tomorrow, in practical application, quantifying any population s need for natural resources is very difficult (GEOG 200, Sept 17, Slide 17/18). I have omitted a discussion of target 12.1 since its measurement would require an extensive evaluation of the contents of the 10YFP. The following section will present evidence of attempts at measurement for targets 12.2 through 12.8 inclusively. It should be noted that there is no evidence of current attempts to measure the topics related to 12.6, 12.7, or 12.8. As stated, the measurement of 12.2 is complex and sector specific. There have nonetheless been efforts by the United Nations to develop natural resource accounting frameworks, as evidenced by the Handbook of National Accounting: Integrated Environmental and Economic Accounting 2003 or SEEA 2003. SEEA 2003 provides a model for quantifiable sustainability (SEEA, 2003, p. 34). Applications of SEEA 2003 accounting models are limited, however; for instance, only 36 countries have standardized their measurement of sustainable and efficient water usage on the basis of the SEEA 2003 accounting system (GAO, 2007, p. 9). The release of chemicals into the environment (12.4) is frequently measured. The most extensive source of measurement is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Why Polylactic Acid And Polypropylene A plastic water bottle must be able to hold it shape, withstand high temperatures, must not absorb the water or release toxins, should be easy to clean and must be eco friendly. To understand this, it is first necessary to define polymers, how they are made and the intermolecular forces that lead to polymers properties. Two polymers, Polylactic acid and polypropylene, will be explained to illustrate the connection between structure and properties. The differences and similarities will be explained, followed by the environmental and economic considerations. These factors will be used to show why Polylactic acid is preferable to other polymers for the production of water bottle. A polymer is a long chain of molecules made up of many repeating identical units called monomers. A polymer made from two or more repeating units of monomers are called copolymers (Smith et al., 2006). Monomers are often made up of Hydrogen and Carbon with extra elements such as Oxygen, Nitrogen and Chlorine, creating the backbone of the polymer. These can be made synthetically, such as polyethylene or occur naturally like cellulose, as are the polymers being investigated are. Polylactic acid is made naturally and Polypropylene is made synthetically. Polymers can be three dimensional networks which don t melt such as epoxy resin, and are called thermoset polymers, two dimensional or one dimensional networks or chains which can be melted such as polypropylene called thermoplastic polymers ... Thematic content analysis was used in order to be able to draw conclusions from the qualitative data from the interviews and document review (DeSantis Noel Ugarriza, 2000). Qualitative content analysis is defined as: a research method for the subjective interpretation of the content of text data through the systematic classification process of coding and identifying themes or patterns (Hsieh Shannon, 2005, p.1278). This means that the data input is evaluated to search for patterns that extend across the data and coded into categories in order to develop data interpretations (Vaismoradi, Turunen, Bondas, 2013). For this purpose ATLAS.ti was used to analyse the qualitative data findings. Codes were first prepared in accordance with the theoretical framework (for this framework see Appendix B) (Braun Clarke, 2006). ATLAS.ti was used for assigning open codes as well as to create coding memos. Codes and themes were analysed and related to theory formulation (see Appendix C for the code book that was used in ATLAS.ti) (for a review and practical guide to using qualitative data analysis see Hwang, 2008). • 24. The Importance Of Morality In Homer s Odyssey The overall point of Homer s Odyssey is to teach Greek morals and social behaviors through heroic tales featuring the main character, Odysseus, and the struggles he must go through to return to, and defend, his wife and family. Ancient Greek culture idolized strong, fearless warriors, an idea that is prevalent among most Greek mythology, especially the Odyssey. If it had not have been for Odysseus bravery he would not have been able to overcome the obstacles that stood in his path towards home. While Odysseus is exercising his bravery, his wife, Penelope, and son are trapped in their home with men who hope to marry Penelope. Homer preys on the suitors disrespectful behavior to teach humility and respect. Conversely, Homer s teaching of hospitality illustrates the ideal host. Even when their guests are unwanted, Telemachus and Penelope play the role of hosts and offer food, drink, and a place to sleep for all of their guests. Nearly everywhere Odysseus goes, the practice of hospitality is held in utmost reverence. Through teachings of bravery, respect, and hospitality, Homer is able to weave a series of epic tales, and create the image of quintessential Greek morality. Bravery is taught to be a virtue in the Odyssey, due to the solutions of most conflicts within the story being violent. Bravery was thought also to affect people in the afterlife, therefore the concept of the fearless warrior was driven by the fear of what would happen to the cowardly. Odysseus fearlessness is what drives the plot, from escaping the cyclops island to facing phantoms in Hades. Midway through the story, Odysseus leaves Circe s island and travels to the underworld to consult a prophet. On page 126, Tieresias the blind prophet tells Odysseus, You seek to return home, and home is sweet as honey... you will find trouble in your house... you shall exact retribution from these men. Odysseus did not know what awaited him at his home in Ithaca until that point. This shows that as soon as he was presented with the information, Odysseus interpreted one option, which was violence. When Odysseus finally made it home and the time came to be rid of Penelope s unwanted suitors, he slaughtered them all. Once Odysseus and Telemachus were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The areas cranial (head) end, caudal (tail) end, and bulbus cordis eventually form the aorta and ventricles. Around the third week of pregnancy, the fetal heartbeat can be seen as a flicker on the ultrasound monitor. In a healthy heart, the aorta is attached to the left ventricle for transportation of oxygen rich blood to the body. An overriding aorta, another defect of tetralogy of Fallot, is one in which oxygen poor blood flows directly into the aorta instead of into the pulmonary artery due to the aorta s position between the left and right ventricles. Narrowing of the pulmonary valve and the main pulmonary artery called pulmonary stenosis is the third defect of tetralogy of Fallot. This obstruction forces the heart to work harder and deprives the lungs of adequate amounts of oxygen rich blood. Because the heart is pumping at high pressure to move blood through the narrowed pulmonary valve, the muscle of the right ventricle becomes thicker than usual. This defect is known as right ventricular hypertrophy. A small percentage of children with tetralogy of Fallot may also suffer from an atrial septal defect (ASD). Weber would consider the priest in this situation a traditional authority figure because he is respected because of the people s belief in the catholic religion. He is also legitimate because the priest has been through seminary school and has contractually established his legitimacy through completion of the program which gives rise to rational legal authority. Without authority, man has no sense of duty, only when traditions, codes, and roles have the effect of coercing, directing, or restraining man s impulses can it be said that society is genuinely in existence (Smith, PowerPoint What is Authority).
