Impact Of Dr. Seuss On Culture
The Impact of Theodor Seuss Geisel on American Culture The more that you read, the more things
you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you ll go (Seuss, 1990). Theodor Geisel,
better known as Dr. Seuss, is a well known children s author. Dr. Seuss wrote children s books during
the years 1937 1990, but during that time he also was a political cartoonist. For two years, 1941 1943,
Theodor Geisel was the chief editorial cartoonist for a New York newspaper (Minear, 2012). Theodor
Geisel was writing his fourth book, Horton Hatches the Egg, when it came to his attention that Paris
had fallen to the Nazis. He drew over 400 political cartoons during that time. His cartoons are about

Seuss is still having a huge influence on American culture. Dr. Seuss s books have a huge impact on
the world. Some of the books have been turned into movies like: The Cat in the Hat, The Lorax,
Horton Hears a Who, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It first was shown in nineteen sixty six. It
continues to be a very popular holiday program (Davis, 2006). Dr. Seuss added a name and virtually a
dictionary definition to our culture: Grinch: any sour, pessimistic person who dismisses love and
attempts to deprive others of happiness (Fensch, 2000). Movies are not the only way Dr. Seuss
impacts the world. Other way he impacts the world is through his museum. The Dr. Seuss museum
opened in 2016 in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Springfield Museums says the first floor is a family
friendly, interactive exhibits exploring Dr. Seuss s Springfield roots, and kids can learn new sounds
and vocabulary. The second floor, curated by Geisel s two step daughters and great nephew, recreates
Geisel s studio and living room (with the furniture and art materials he actually used) and features
never before publicly displayed art, family photographs and letters, and the original Geisel Grove sign
which used to hang in Forest Park (Museums, 2017). Dr. Seuss wrote many books that impact

Sumerians, Egyptians, and Chinese Contributions
Did you know that Sumerians developed the world s first form of writing? That many of today s
household objects were invented or used by the ancient Egyptians (lock and keys, combs, scissors,
wigs, makeup, deodorants, toothbrush and toothpaste)? Or that for the last 4,000 years China has been
the oldest continuous civilization on Earth? The Sumerians, Egyptians, and Chinese created
flourishing civilizations filled with many achievements in writing, architecture, and technology that
made lasting contributions to humankind.
Sumer is referred to as the cradle of civilization because there were many important inventions.
Writing was one of Sumerians most important invention. Sumerians developed the world s first known

Only a small, educated elite had the time to master this system. Despite some changes made through
the years, the fundamental principles of the Chinese system still endures today. As a result, the legacy
of the Chinese system is that people speaking essentially different languages, such as Mandarin and
Cantonese, can read and understand the same text. The Chinese had a very unique form of
architecture. A Chinese structure is based on the principle of balance and symmetry. Office buildings,
residences, temples, and palaces all follow the principle that the main structure is the axis. Other
structures are positioned as two wings on either side to form the main room and the yard. The
distribution of interior space reflects Chinese social and ethical values. China had a very advanced
technology development. Bronze and iron played a major role. Weapons, chariot fittings, musical
instruments, and religious ritual vessels were made from it. One of the most important contributions
China made to humankind was its writing system that united all parts of China. Other contributions
include paper making, printing, gunpowder, and the mariner s compass. Small inventions like these
have made a huge difference in our society today. Ancient civilizations all around have contributed
something to the world we live in today. Sumer, Egypt and China have had many

Government s Singularity Of Power
Incompetent Leaders:
Monarchy s singularity of power provides people with a symbolic and focused area for group loyalty
and identity. Monarchy can be beneficial in some instances, such as when decisions need to be made
quickly without consulting with a large group of people. Monarchy sometime requires strong
leadership in order to get things accomplished quickly and efficiently. In contrast to the early leaders,
the late Qing emperors in the nineteenth century were weak in the sense that they lacked the abilities
to effectively control the military, which led to the unstable government. In the summer of 1831,
Empress Xiaoquancheng bore emperor Daoguang a son named Xianfeng. At age of 19 and was a
relatively young, emperor Xianfeng received the throne, which made him the 9th Emperor of the
Manchu led Qing dynasty, and the 7th Qing emperor to rule over China, from 1850 to 1861. Shortly
after emperor Xianfeng was on the throne, the first of a series of popular rebellions began that would
nearly destroy the Qing dynasty. The Taiping Rebellion broke out in Southern China. The Manchu
troops that the emperor Xianfeng sent to suppress the rebellion proved so ineffective that the rebels
were able to move Northward and gained control of many cities included Nanjing in 1853, and almost
got the imperial capital of Beijing in between 1854 5 (Teng, 9). In the attempt to put an end to the
rebellion, emperor Xianfeng had to rely on other talented Chinese leaders to raise local volunteer

Hillsborough s Gossip Girl
In this past year, Hillsborough female teens have begun to watch the television series, Gossip Girl
because of the show s fun and unbelievable nature. Most teenage females are attracted to Gossip Girl
due to the fantastical element. Many girls yearn to live in the Upper East Side like the fortunate main
characters Serena, Dan, Blair, Nate, and Chuck. However, they dread living in the shadow of the
mysterious blogger among the characters named Gossip Girl. It s equivalent to the girls watching,
foreseeing, and hoping that their lives could be similar to the characters when they go through high

the specialty drinks prepared. Television series similar to Gossip Girl have been released in previous
years like Beverly Hills, 90210, One Tree Hill, and Dawson s Creek. However, Gossip Girl is different

Taking a Look at Syria
Syria which formerly was called Al Sham or Levant is located in Western Asia. This country has
borders with Turkey to the north Iraq to the east Jordan to the south Israel to the south east and
Lebanon and Mediterranean Sea to the west. Before 1516 Syria was part of Mamluk Empire centered
in Egypt. In 1516 the Ottoman Sultan, Selim, conquered Syria, after defeating the Mamluk near
Aleppo in Northern Syria. After sometimes he changed the whole Syria into one Eyalat named Sam
(Syria). During the course of history the number of Eyalats was growing and in 1877. It had six
provinces which were Aleppo Vilayet, Sanjak of Zor, Beirut Vilayet, Damascus vilaytat, Mutasarrifate
of Mount Lebanon and Mutasarrifate of Jerusalem. Now the modern Syria which was established after
First World War has fourteen governorates or Muhafazat. Each of the governorates is divided into
sixty districts or Mantiqa, which are further divided into sub districts (Nahiya). Every Nahiya
encompasses villages which are considered the smallest administrative unite. Each governorate is
governed by a governor and is appointed by the ministry of interior and must gain the approval of the
cabinet. The capital of the Syria is Damascus, which is located in the south of Syria.
Syria is a diverse country and is consisted of different ethnic groups including Sunni 75% , Kurds 10

The Theory Of Management And Taylorism
In today s society we often use certain practices and methods that have worked well in the past.
Managing is one of those practises that is the most important for the well being of a business, and has
been important to make sure that individual efforts coordinate. Major management theories and
practices such as scientific, administrative, and behavioural theories have had more research put into
them as the years have progressed. Theories such as these are depended on more than ever since
society relies on group efforts, especially because several organized groups have become large.
Factors such as these make managerial theories crucial in the way managers control the operations of
their company. If we compare the way these methods are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Themes such as analysis; synthesis; logic;rationality; empiricism; work ethic; efficiency and
elimination of waste; standardization of best practices; were all spread out into new management
methods.
When scientific management was created, it evolved during a time where mechanization and
automation were unpopular. When companies started replacing people with machines, the scientific
method had to be re evaluated. This was due to America s craft work (work with humans) being no
longer existent. Scientific management later lead to business methods such as offshoring, industrial
process control, and numerical control. Offshoring occurs when a company moves from one country
to another due to production costs and availability of resources. Industrial process control and
numerical control come into effect when a company s machines and systems are no longer operating at
full potential.
Along with everything in life, change is almost a factor for the future. Over the decades, scientific
management has evolved immensely. During the early decades of scientific management, the demands
of work intensified. Workers were not impressed nor satisfied with the environment that they worked
in and became furious with their employers. During one of Taylor s own implementations of his
scientific management method at the Watertown Arsenal in Massachusetts, workers began to

The Negative Effects Of Rap Music In Modern Music And Pop...
When you re king of African music you re the king because music is the king of all professions (Fela
Kuti: Music is the Weapon). Rap music has been a staple in modern day music and pop culture since
its beginning in the 1970 s in the South Bronx area of New York. Rap started as an underground
movement started by many artists and DJ s (or disc jockeys). It started as a form of expressing oneself
and discussing many social and political issues through music. But now in the 21st century, rap has
changed dramatically to where the meaning of rap is almost entirely forgotten and squanders to a
whole new low. Hip Hop/Rap of this generation now condones vulgar activities to a young audience

In the music industry, it s very common nowadays for most artists to change their appearances to a
more sexually appealing and risque look to attract fans, money, etc. These practices of bad imagery
are present in hip hop music the most out of all the genres. Bad imagery in rap is one of the main
causes of the exploitation of women in this country today. Women are being overexposed in rap music
whether that being a sex symbol, gold digger, or a freak . According to Dr. Carolyn West from the
University of Washington, Black girls are not seeing positive images of who they are and what they
be. Looking at sexual imagery really impacts the functioning of teenage girls (Post Gazette 2).
Teenage girls see these women in various videos and songs and they believe that they should mimic
the same actions that they are portraying. Misogyny is also a present factor in songs like Rake it Up by
Yo Gotti with lines like, I tell all my h***, Rake it up, break it down, bag it up (Yo Gotti 2017). Songs
such as those degrade women and show younger males how to treat women which is a false teaching
toward the younger generation. Teens can be easily swayed by hip hop to become the imagery shown
through hip hop and become these people which changes their perception on other people and changes
their attitudes.
Though many people don t realize it. rap music is the modern day poetry in present day society. Just
like romanticism in the 1770 s,

Healthcare And Health Care Industry
Introduction: Over the past few decades health care industry in United States is facing three major
problems related to quality, costs and access. The health care expenditure in United States has
increasing drastically over the years and United states still ranks top in health care spending when
compared to other top nations in the world. Despite of having high health care expenditure, Americans
have limited access to health care, spends higher costs for the procedures and getting poor health care
outcomes. In a recent study conducted by common health care fund, it estimates that United States
health care funding is approximately two times higher than top 13 nations in the world. [1] This report
also concludes that despite of having high health care expenditure, health care costs in united states is
very expensive and outcomes are worst when compared other nations, which spends less gross
domestic product on healthcare. To address these limitations in health care industry in United States,
on March 23, 2010, President Barack Obama signed the patient protection and affordable care act in to
law. [2] Overview of patient protection and affordable care act The patient protection and affordable
care is a one of the most comprehensive and expensive health care reform act with an aim of
improving health care access, improving quality and reducing costs. There are several provisions in
the patient protection and affordable care act addressing these limitations of healthcare

Dehydration Of Cyclohexanol Lab Report
Clay catalyzed dehydration of cyclohexanol
The product collected from the first experiment was a colorless low viscosity liquid. The theoretical
yield of this experiment (Figure 1.) was calculated to be 100.2 mmol (8.221 g). The actual yield of
product collected was 11.28 mmol (0.9273 g) which gave an 11.31% yield. The ¹H NMR spectrum of
the cyclohexene product (see Appendix A) displayed two resonance signals at (in ppm): δ = 7.04 (s,

Water typically appears at 1.56 (δ, ppm) meaning that the odd appearance of the peaks were due to the
overlay of water s solvent peak. This conclusion was further confirmed by analyzing the integration
ratio of the peaks. The ratio was found to be 2:10 rather than 2:8 this means that two extra protons
were accounted for within the two up field peaks, these protons most likely belonged to water. The
expected product, cyclohexene, had in fact been formed however; the product was contaminated with
trace amounts of water. This outcome most likely resulted because the cyclohexene was not dried after
it was distilled. The reaction mixture may have been distilled for too long, thus allowing water vapors
to distill into the receiving flask. For future experiments, it would be imperative to dry collected
products thoroughly to ensure their purity.
Bromination of cyclohexene
The theoretical yield of the bromination of cyclohexene (Figure. 2) was calculated to produce 12.2
mmol (2.93 g) of trans 1,2 dibromocyclohexane. The actual yield of product collected was 0.308
mmol (0.0739 g) which resulted in a 2.50% yield of a colorless product. The ¹H NMR spectrum of the
trans 1, 2 dibromocyclohexane product (see Appendix B) indicated six resonance signals at (in ppm) δ

The Road
In The Road by Cormac McCarthy the father and the son overcomes nature s obstacles is shown
through the use of setting to communicate to the audience that no matter what horrible situation you re
in they will still be sunshine whether that is literally or if it is figuratively like it is for the father; his
son is his light.
In The Road by Cormac McCarthy the father and the son overcomes nature s obstacles by dealing
with cannibals. The father and the son face many dangers and cannibals are one of the biggest.
Throughout the book they encounter many sites of cannibalism. Such as the time when they come
across what they thought was food but couldn t really distinguish what it was until they took a closer
look... They walked into the little clearing, the boy clutching his hand... he looker quickly to see what
had happened. What is it? He said. What is it? The boy shook his head. Oh Papa, he said. He turned
and looked again. What the boy had seen was a charred human infant, headless and gutted and
blackening on the spit, (198). McCarthy depicted the absolutely worst social breakdown. The weakest
and most helpless of human beings an infant was preyed upon. Like stated before, there are other
violent images in the novel, but this one seemed important to state. It shows the extreme violence,
hunger, and cannibalism that the novel created in one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and everything will be better. The statement going south is repeated a lot in this novel. Are we going

McCarthy reiterates this because the south to the father and son that is their safe heaven or mission. To
overcome harsh weather they must look for clothes, shoes, wood for fire, and food.

Exchange Rate In Canada
The US and Canada share more than just a border. Professional athletes from both countries can often
be found on the other s professional football, basketball, baseball and hockey teams. For instance,
currently there are 6 teams in Canada that are currently part of US professional sports leagues. By the
year 2035 it is predicted that there could be up to 11 new teams formed(Campbell). This is beneficial
to both the US and Canada s economy because professional sports are typically profitable and draw a
lot of money. Because the teams host and employ both Americans and Canadians, some issues arise
regarding currencies. Every country in the world has a form of legal payment which is called currency.

23% of the teams in the NHL are Canadian and these teams generate 35% of the league s revenue.
When Canadian teams cannot produce enough revenue, the entire NHL league is affected. Baseball is
no different. For example, the Toronto Blue Jays generate an extra $600,000 for every cent the
exchange rate goes up (Exchange). In the future. the exchange rate between Canada and the US is
predicted to help the Canadian sports teams. Experts can predict with accuracy how exchange rates
will change up to two years in advance(Campbell). This allows sports teams to plan for the gap
between American dollar salaries and Canadian dollar revenues. When the exchange rate is in favor of
the Canadian dollar, more money is available to teams. This allows them to spend more on player
salaries, possibly making their teams better without having to worry as much about revenue. For teams
who are very successful in recent years, such as the Toronto Blue Jays, the exchange rate becomes less
of an issue. Even though they chose to spend more money on player salaries, the team has performed
so well that the fan loyalty and interest has gone up enough to cover the costs. The exchange rate can
also impact teams negatively. One example is the Winnipeg Jets. They eventually had to relocate to
Arizona because they could not create enough revenue selling in Canadian dollars. The Vancouver
Canucks faced a similar problem in 2002. They played their players a total of $62 million US which
exchanges to $81 Canadian. This left the team with $19 million Canadian dollars to be made up
through other ways. The NHL is the 99th most profitable business in Canada (Maich) and therefore is
highly impacted by the exchange rate. Canadian sports teams will have to make a choice between
paying their players less money or pay them more but find new ways to bring in money in order

Cause Of Childhood Obesity
Introduction The Surgeon General s Office, First Lady Obama, and many other prominent officials
have called to action campaigns to address obesity as public health issue which leads to many other
chronic care issues. Childhood obesity has reached epidemic levels in developed countries. Twenty
five percent of children in the US are overweight and 11% are obese. Overweight and obesity in
childhood are known to have significant impact on both physical and psychological health. The
mechanism of obesity development is not fully understood and it is believed to be a disorder with
multiple causes. Environmental factors, lifestyle preferences, and cultural environment play pivotal
roles in the rising prevalence of obesity worldwide. Childhood obesity now affects 1 in 6 children and

Yeats Use of Symbolism in Leda and the Swan and the...
W. B. Yeats, a somewhat eclectic poet, explores, throughout his work, a wide range of themes and
ideas. He reflects on his nation s politics, Irish mysticism, the afterlife, love, and his own past. While
each set of his poems share many recurring images, however, it is Yeats examination and opinions of
the gyres of time and history that crop up in all forms of his poetry. While references to this great
spiraling metaphor for the fabric of the universe can be found in some of Yeats most famous works,
such as Sailing to Byzantium , Long legged Fly and Easter 1916 , to name just a few, it is an aspect of
his poetry which is relevant to almost all of his writing. However, it is in Yeats apocalyptic poems,

The creature described is, of course, the form of the ancient Egyptian sphinx. This metaphor is far
stronger than the one of the falcon, as the great beast begins moving it s slow thighs . The creature
represents an antichrist, a further image of this destruction of man. The blank and pitiless gaze it gives
emphasizes its lack of human emotion, and the brutal nature of its task. The, all of a sudden, darkness
drops , and the vision is over. Reflecting on what he saw, Yeats talks of the nightmare to come, and
that for the rough beast, its hour come round at last .
Overall, the poem sets out clearly what Yeats truly believes as the future for mankind. The structure is
also worthy of note. Usually, Yeats stuck strongly to established rhyme schemes and stanza structures,
however, in this poem he choses not to. While stanza one 8 lines, the second is 14, and this
emphasizes to some extent the lack of clarity in Yeats vision, as his description what he saw flows out
of him almost uncontrollably. Also, the lack of rhyme scheme indicates once more the havoc and
ruggedness of events to come, although word repetition does connote a feeling of the slowly turning
gyre, turning round and round endlessly.
The second of the two poems, Leda and the Swan , takes us back to the first era of destruction, cruelty
and war, before the epoch of Christianity. It tells the mythical tale of Leda being

How Do Ancient Astronauts Have Altered Human Culture
There has been a big controversy for as long as anybody can remember whether ancient astronauts
have visited earth and altered the human culture and development or not. There are many theorists out
there that will tell you first hand that ancient astronauts do exist and will give you all the explanations
they have until they prove to you that they do exist. Most of them do know what they are talking
about. Ancient astronauts did come to earth a long, long time ago, they did help humans advance in
technology and did inspire the human culture because there is too much evidence of large and precise
structures being built that humans even in modern time would have trouble building, and also because
humans most likely did not know where to start for their culture, and ancient astronauts helped
humans build all of that, thus, ancient astronauts had to have existed with all the explanations to back
up this conspiracy, and ancient astronauts may not be here now, but they for sure were once here on
earth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Napoleon Bonaparte, A Great Leader, The Politician,...
Napoleon Bonaparte, soldier, general, politician, tyrant, emperor. Napoleon Bonaparte was a great
many things. He ended the French revolution, bringing stability and order to a country stricken with
chaos. He accomplished civil reforms that other countries could only dream off in matter of a few
years, restoring financial stability, reformed the education system, instituted an extensive program of
public works, centralized the governmental systems which is still in effect today in France, and settled
disputes with the almighty Catholic Church, the list of his great accomplishments go on and on.
Napoleon was born to Carlo Buonaparte, a Corsican lawyer, and his wife Letizia Ramolino on August
15, 1769. The Buonapartes were descended from minor Italian nobility of Tuscan origin, who had
come to Corsica from Liguria in the 16th century. He had an elder brother named Joseph, and six
younger siblings, Lucien, Elisa, Louis, Pauline, Caroline and Jerome. During his infant years civil
strife surrounded him, the people of Corsica were rising up against the French occupiers, originally his
family had sided with the nationalists, but after their leader Pasquale was forced to flee, Carlo turned
his coat and sided with the French. After his betrayal he was appointed a plush job as the accessor of
the judicial district of Ajaccio. The job allowed him to enroll his two sons Joseph and Napoleon in

i. Romans: Romans considered common salt a right and used it for cooking in both plebian and
patrician cuisine. Salt trade was a prominent way of making money and soldiers were often paid in
salt. A tightly controlled monopoly on salt contributed to military funds. ii. Greek Philosophers: Plato
describes salt as dear to the gods, and we can even see the importance attached to it in religious
ceremonies, covenants, and magical charms. Also, Aristotle mentioned brine spring evaporation in the

colonies and British tariffs on salt trade contributed to tension leading up to the revolution. ii. The
French Revolution: Salt taxes instilled by the Grande Gabelle caused smuggling and revolts. After the
revolution, Brittany s exemption from the gabelle made the salt producing area among the poorest in
France. iii. The American Civil War: Salt was included in rations for both Union and Confederate
soldiers, but more often fulfilled for Union forces. Blockades were ordered on southern ports causing
a salt shortage. Conflicts about maintaining saltworks rose. 8. Why did salt start to become less
important to society in the 19th century? How did this affect the food industry in both Europe and
America?
Salt started to become less important in the 19th century because people found that they could
preserve food by freezing their fish and they were able to keep it unsalted. And that this would have

B2C and B2B Marketing Comparison
B2C and B2B Marketing Comparison Marketing ultimately depends on who you are delivering your
message to. With Business to Business (B2B), an organization has to know the businesses needs, its
current situation, competitors, trends, technology and costs. Business to Commerce (B2C) is also
about knowing who you re selling to. You have to know their wants and needs, your competition,
distribution, supply chains and costs. Often, B2B sites are more informational and technical. There is
less branding, or at least a different kind. It is not so much an emotional connection as an intellectual
connection. B2C sites are more entertainment. They often change with promotions and products, and
are made simpler for ease of navigation for the common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, a vice president of manufacturing does not clip a coupon and order a $45,000 machine
by mail. He would first ask the selling organization for an informative brochure. Then a sales meeting
would occur if the buying organization is slightly interested. Then a demonstration would be the
beginning of a 30 day trial period for the buying organization. If the buyer is satisfied then a proposal
or contract would be conjured up. Therefore, it is not a single piece of advertisement that wins a pricey
contract. It takes a series of letters, brochures, presentations, ads, and mailers combined with the
efforts of sales associates to find a steady paying customer that will contribute to organizational
longevity. When considering to buy personal hygiene items or groceries, now one consults with a team
on the purchase. In almost all B2C selling situations, the purchase decision is made by an individual.
But a business purchase is usually a team effort with many experts involved. Because of this reason, a
business purchase is hardly an impulse buy. There are many influences involved with the decision
such as the purchasing agent and company president, to technical professionals and customers. Each
of these reviewers has different concerns and criteria by which they judge the product or service. In
order to make a successful purchase, all of the reviewer s standards must be met. Overall, in order to
succeed, business owners must attract and retain a growing base of

The War With The Persian
This essay will explore if Agesilaus was trying to create a buffer zone in Asia. However, first the story
of Agesilaus is Asia must be explored, as to his reasons for making war with the Persian and his
possible objective. Furthermore, by exploring these one may be able to establish why he was trying to
create a buffer zone or was he trying to accomplish something entirely different.
The invasion of the Persian territories in Asia, were brought on by King Agesilaus of the Sparta who
had not been in power long when he heard the news that the Persians were amassing an army against
the Greeks . With this news, Agesilaus asked that he be given thirty Spartans, two thousand newly

A Persian named Tissaphernes gave his word that he would help set the Greeks in Asia free. However,
Tissaphernes broke this agreement, and soon as he could gathered an army to fight . Upon Agesilaus
hearing this he continued to remain peacefully to show the people what Tissaphernes was not a man of
his word and that Agesilaus was more honourable.
Tissaphernes told Agesilaus to leave Asia or else there would be a war. With that Agesilaus prepared
his troops for battle he sent word to Caria to have their markets ready and stocked for their arrival .
Agesilaus also sent word to the Greeks of Ionia, the Aeolid and the Hellespont, to send their
contingents for the campaign to his headquarters at Ephesus and would seem to suggest that he was
well prepared for battle .
When Tissaphernes, heard of Agesilaus plans to attach Caria, they went to Caria to prepare for battle.
However, when he got there, there was no Greek army waiting. Agesilaus had decided to go to
Phrygia instead.
Once Agesilaus had captured Phrygia and taken large amount of booty. Instead of killing the prisoners,
he decided that it would be better to win them over with kindness. He ordered his men not to punish
their prisoners as criminals, but to guard them as human beings by doing this, he ensured the prisoner
s loyalty to Agesilaus .
Agesilaus needed to raise a calvary, as he was sick of running because of satrap Pharnabazus. So he

Essay on Retirement Revamping
Social Security is a major concern in American society today. Social Security first started in 1935
under President Roosevelt when he signed the Social Security Act that provided the elderly with
guaranteed retirement income. In 1939, benefits for spouses, dependent children of retirees, and
survivors of workers who die before retirement were implemented by congress. In the 1950 s, disabled
workers were also given benefits. Now days, Social Security is under close scrutiny. Funds are
depleting, and Social Security is in need of some serious revamping. Many solutions have come forth,
but the most workable plan is to create privatized investment accounts that allow individuals to have
more influence over their own money for retirement. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still others feel that America needs to do nothing and the only measures needed are good economic
policies. They feel that the situation can work itself out, and as long as the economy is kept healthy,
then Social Security will be just fine. (Strengthening)
Of all the ways posed, the best way to solve both the need for Social Security reform and economic
growth simultaneously is private investment accounts. This solution is one of allowing the younger
generation to start privatized accounts for their social security funds. Martin Feldstein, a professor of
economics at Harvard University and president of the National Bureau of Economics Research, states:
Our current Social Security system is acting as a drag on economic growth in two important ways.
First, the payroll tax distorts the supply of labor and the type of compensation sought by workers.
These losses are inevitable because of the low return implied by the pay as you go character of the
unfunded Social Security system. Second, the system reduces national savings and investment.
Privatizing Social Security, transforming it from an unfunded pay as you go system to a system of
mandatory private savings accounts, would solve both of those problems and increase

How The United States Changed After Ww2
World War II As a young woman that has experienced both World Wars, I can now say that World War
II has altered the manner of the U.S. World War II was the most widespread and deadliest war in
history and there were two sides of the war, the Allies (United States, Great Britain, France, USSR,
Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Greece, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway,
Poland, South Africa, and Yugoslavia) against the Axis Powers (Germany, Japan, Italy Hungary,
Romania, and Bulgaria). Our involvement began in 1941 with Japan s aggressive attack on Pearl
Harbor, a naval base in Hawaii and ended in 1945 with a win by the Allies, bombing Hiroshima and
Nagasaki. During and after the war, I strongly believe that the United States changed for the better

near Utah Beach. A little while after in 1945, Ira Hayes and some other men raised the U.S. flag on
Mount Suribachi at Iwo Jima and the photograph that was everywhere. The photograph gave me and
everyone on the home front a sense of hope for the U.S. men to finally come home. Both of these men

Video Games Are Not Safe For Young Viewers
Vanderbilt blogger Emily Hughes states that video games have been around for over 50 years, starting
as coin operated console and computer games. Video games have progressed from simple 2
dimentional videos with simple controller actions to realistic and 3 dimentional videos that involve
full attention mentally and physically. The first video game launched was Spacewar in 1962 where the
objective of the game was for spaceships to battle to the death in space. The theme of fighting to the
death has progressed on as a main theme in video games today. The growing theme of violence,
fighting to the death, and gore have been becoming more popular and expected in video games leading
to parents and the government to step in to set the boundaries of what type of video games are and are
not safe for young viewers.
The first uproar in the United States about violent video games was in 1976, over gaming company
Exidy s Death Race, an 8 bit arcade game in which a player s car runs over stick figures, turning them
into tombstones (Suddath). Death Race caused the United States first video gaming ethical terror. The
United States was unsure on how to deal with young children getting ahold of violent video games and
were focused on finding a way to keep the mental development of young child out of the games
harmful way. The growth of moral uproar continued in 1993 where Mortal Kombat, which included
extremely violent graphics and fatality moves, and Night Trap, in which a male

If an athlete is happy and performs well it reflects well on the coach and helps him to keep his job.
Ensuring the athletes play is the greatest goal for some coaches. Most athletes understand this and in
turn start to receive cash and other gifts because they know they can. They begin to feel entitled to pay
for play (Matt Ryan 3). The schools do not do much to prevent this from happening though. They don
t give extra food to athletes that do more physical activity than most ordinary students. Neither do they
offer more spacious room accommodations to larger athletes that take up more space than the average
student would. An athlete will not always take advantages of their abilities for the cash. Some athletes
are in dire need of money to help themselves and their families. They may come from a low income
household where they were looked to for support. The importance of an athlete who was looked upon
for support in the family before college isn t as understood by the NCAA (McMurphy 6). The athletes
and programs that are caught are most always severely punished. They can be placed on restriction for
various things. The most common forms of punishment are a reduction of the scholarships allotted

athletic involvement. This could devastate the athlete but it is deserved. They would be eligible had

The Success Of Juvenile Pre Trial Diversion Program
The success of juvenile pre trial diversion programs is often dependent on cost analyses and
recidivism rates. However, from a psychosocial perspective, success of a diversion program cannot be
based solely on the completion of the program, the absence of a future arrest, or the short term cost
beneficial. There is a need to include the evaluation of the diversion program participant s
psychological and emotional health following the completion of the program, as well as a positive
perception of their future in order to truly measure the success of these programs.
Data from the National Center for Juvenile Justice s Juvenile Court Statistics in 2009 concluded that

Additionally, much literature discusses the juvenile s experiences while in the programs, but lacks an
understanding of what happens long after the juvenile completes the program and transitions into
adulthood. Due to this, the literature review will focus on the major topics of juvenile s experiences
prior to and during participation in a program, focusing on mental health, substance abuse, and
success and failures of different treatment approaches. The purpose of examining the literature from
this point of view was to gain an understanding of what possible outcomes participants in this study
may have experienced.
Mental health is a major factor to consider with juvenile offenders. Much of the literature regarding
the juvenile justice system and juvenile diversion programs focus on mental health. It is estimated that
50% 70% of juveniles in the justice system have a diagnosable disorder, oftentimes with a comorbid
substance use disorder, yet these disorders are sometimes overlooked during intake (Schubert, Mulvey
Glasheen, 2011). In a 2010 study by McReynolds, Schwalbe and Wasserman, almost half of the
sample of 915 youths participating in the study reported a disorder such as an anxiety disorder,
affective disorder and disruptive behavior disorder, with substance use disorder being the most
prevalent. Approximately half of the participants were first time offenders,

Literary Analysis Of Pablo Picasso s Guernica
Julius Byla
Hake
English 101
10/22/17
Picasso s Guernica Throughout time paintings have been used to record events, communicate ideas or
evoke an emotional response. Pablo Picasso s painting Guernica does just this. Guernica was created
to bring attention to the Nazi bombing of the town of Guernica, Spain during the Spanish civil war in
the second half of the 1930s. Its exhibition was used to provide relief and a call against the horrors of
war. Through its visual elements and symbolic concepts, Guernica depicts the chaos and aftermath of
the bombing of the city and the need to bring about change over the tragedies of war. Standing at a
massive seven feet by twenty five feet, this black and white painting depicts a massacre of the
bombing of the town of Guernica. The composition of the work is a dimly lit space, the only light
coming from an eye shaped light at center top of the painting and a woman holding a lantern next to it.
From left to right, the scene contains a screaming bull beneath it a woman holding a dead child. In the
center there is a mangled horse pierced by spear and below it, the mangled body of a fallen soldier. To
the right are three women, one crawling towards the light, above her is a woman leaning out of a
window holding a lit lantern and the other screaming while falling from a burning building. Guernica
captures the brutal chaos of the bombing with its physical action and intended symbolism. Being black
and white, the painting represents the somber

Descriptive Essay About Vacations
Our vacation started with what seemed like a week of packing when in reality it was only a day or
two. We had been thinking of and planning our trip to Yellowstone for quite a while. We were all
excited for the trip to come. It started with a long drive through Nebraska stopping at night to set up
camp and get some sleep. We were all exhausted and slept like rocks. The next morning we made
breakfast and got to driving again. As always, we stopped at various parks and rest stops to get out and
look around. That afternoon we were in dire need of showers and couldn t seem to find a campsite that
offered showers. We searched through what seemed like a thousand campgrounds. My mom and I had
pretty much given up looking at this point and were ready to resort to bucket baths. When we pulled
into the campsite it turned out to be a rather pleasant campground. There was plenty of privacy, flat
ground, trees, and of course a shower. My mom and I also were pleasantly surprised to find that the
showers were also free. While there was still daylight. We got a fire going set up our tents and looked
around a bit. When we were finally ready we all went and bathed in the glorious creation of soap and
hot running water cascading on our heads and bodies. The next day we got up, packed up our stuff,
and started on our way to our next destination. Rocky Mountain National Park. On our way there we
stopped in a little town for lunch and ate about two loaves of bread in sandwiches. As it started

Given the opportunity to go to St. Mary s Catholic church in my hometown with my friend s family,
and experience the Mass first hand.
As I stepped into the church, I already felt a warm, welcoming feeling. A couple of the members of the

From listening to the daily readings and reflecting on them with psalms and hymns, I could see a
focused approach to the word. All the readings motivated us to see and face all the challenges that
were in the real world today. The gospel and sermon spoke by the priest were, even more of a
celebration of the word and to proclaim our faith outside the church. Following the time of listening
and reflecting on the readings of the day, I noticed that it was then time to reflect and act upon faith.
Worshippers would bring up offerings and gifts that would be blessed and accepted by Jesus. I think
the public display of communion with all the worshipers was evident when everyone went up to the
altar to receive the bread, which is similar my church. I think that the second part of Mass showed the
actions of faith that were taken after celebrating the word of God. Overall, the service was pleasing
and enjoyable to observe. The visit made me see and understand the Mass and the symbolism that the
church itself has. I enjoyed the first part of listening to the word and having the priest apply the
sermon and readings directly into our lives today and then the second part, seeing everyone participate
in gathering gifts and communion, showing their faith and proclaiming it. I found the choir to be

1932; thats when the chaos started. The elated recently homebound veterans were thrown into a whirl

The Potential Of Participant Observation
Yes, research varies according to the nature of arguments and their personal information can also be
included in the entire material or changes of the information. For this reason, it will be unethical to
record the information and focus on what is in process to control further.
2. Which method do you think is more likely to produce valid information participant or
nonparticipant observation? Why? The valid information is mostly expected from the grounds of what
are the changes in behaviour and how much responses are ethical. In this regard, the most of the
responses are valid from focus group analysis, lab research and questionnaire as well as interview
studies.
3. Are there any kinds of behaviors that should not be observed? Explain your thinking. If so, give an
example. The behaviors those are immediate after any specific event or the influence from external
parties must not be observed or reported. The management and the ideas for this advancement is
required for all stages.
4. What would you say is the biggest advantage of participant observation? The biggest disadvantage?
The biggest advantage of the participant observation is their sincere behaviour and feeling the
situation accordingly. The disadvantage is looking for the issues those are not related to the field as it
can be the personal biasedness.

Research Paper On Trail Of Tears
Research paper:Trail of Tears
The Trail of tears is something that very well embodies the injustices that native americans have long
faced in our country. They have often been treated as less than or as though they are not worthy of the
same rights that many. We have systematically pushed under the proverbial rug the injustices that this
people group has faced for many generations. It is not hard to see what these injustices are if you just
take a moment to take a deeper look at the history of a people rich with culture and often times
despair. The goal of this paper is to take the reader on a journey to see one of the most horrible and
unfair things that a group of people has ever faced. It was in 1838 and 1839 that this tragedy would
occur. Not because it was necessary or because there was some overwhelming reason that it needed to
happen, but because a president by the name of Andrew Jackson thought that this was the most
sensible way to go about it. Now i have intentionally forgone telling you what is being spoken about
so far as to set the scene. It is inevitable that once the exact circumstances of what happened that there

It continues to be a very popular holiday program (Davis, 2006). Dr. Seuss added a name and virtually a dictionary definition to our culture: Grinch: any sour, pessimistic person who dismisses love and attempts to deprive others of happiness (Fensch, 2000). Movies are not the only way Dr. Seuss impacts the world. Other way he impacts the world is through his museum. The Dr. Seuss museum opened in 2016 in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Springfield Museums says the first floor is a family friendly, interactive exhibits exploring Dr. Seuss s Springfield roots, and kids can learn new sounds and vocabulary. The second floor, curated by Geisel s two step daughters and great nephew, recreates Geisel s studio and living room (with the furniture and art materials he actually used) and features never before publicly displayed art, family photographs and letters, and the original Geisel Grove sign which used to hang in Forest Park (Museums, 2017). The Chinese had a very unique form of architecture. A Chinese structure is based on the principle of balance and symmetry. Office buildings, residences, temples, and palaces all follow the principle that the main structure is the axis. Other structures are positioned as two wings on either side to form the main room and the yard. The distribution of interior space reflects Chinese social and ethical values. China had a very advanced technology development. Bronze and iron played a major role. Weapons, chariot fittings, musical instruments, and religious ritual vessels were made from it. • 4. Government s Singularity Of Power Incompetent Leaders: Monarchy s singularity of power provides people with a symbolic and focused area for group loyalty and identity. Monarchy can be beneficial in some instances, such as when decisions need to be made quickly without consulting with a large group of people. Monarchy sometime requires strong leadership in order to get things accomplished quickly and efficiently. In contrast to the early leaders, the late Qing emperors in the nineteenth century were weak in the sense that they lacked the abilities to effectively control the military, which led to the unstable government. In the summer of 1831, Empress Xiaoquancheng bore emperor Daoguang a son named Xianfeng. At age of 19 and was a relatively young, emperor Xianfeng received the throne, which made him the 9th Emperor of the Manchu led Qing dynasty, and the 7th Qing emperor to rule over China, from 1850 to 1861. Shortly after emperor Xianfeng was on the throne, the first of a series of popular rebellions began that would nearly destroy the Qing dynasty. The Taiping Rebellion broke out in Southern China. The Manchu troops that the emperor Xianfeng sent to suppress the rebellion proved so ineffective that the rebels were able to move Northward and gained control of many cities included Nanjing in 1853, and almost got the imperial capital of Beijing in between 1854 5 (Teng, 9). In the attempt to put an end to the rebellion, emperor Xianfeng had to rely on other talented Chinese leaders to raise local volunteer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When scientific management was created, it evolved during a time where mechanization and automation were unpopular. When companies started replacing people with machines, the scientific method had to be re evaluated. This was due to America s craft work (work with humans) being no longer existent. Scientific management later lead to business methods such as offshoring, industrial process control, and numerical control. Offshoring occurs when a company moves from one country to another due to production costs and availability of resources. Industrial process control and numerical control come into effect when a company s machines and systems are no longer operating at full potential. Rap music has been a staple in modern day music and pop culture since its beginning in the 1970 s in the South Bronx area of New York. Rap started as an underground movement started by many artists and DJ s (or disc jockeys). It started as a form of expressing oneself and discussing many social and political issues through music. In the music industry, it s very common nowadays for most artists to change their appearances to a more sexually appealing and risque look to attract fans, money, etc. These practices of bad imagery are present in hip hop music the most out of all the genres. Bad imagery in rap is one of the main causes of the exploitation of women in this country today. Women are being overexposed in rap music whether that being a sex symbol, gold digger, or a freak . According to Dr. Carolyn West from the University of Washington, Black girls are not seeing positive images of who they are and what they be. Looking at sexual imagery really impacts the functioning of teenage girls (Post Gazette 2). Teenage girls see these women in various videos and songs and they believe that they should mimic the same actions that they are portraying. Misogyny is also a present factor in songs like Rake it Up by Yo Gotti with lines like, I tell all my h***, Rake it up, break it down, bag it up (Yo Gotti 2017). Songs such as those degrade women and show younger males how to treat women which is a false teaching toward the younger generation. Teens can be easily swayed by hip hop to become the imagery shown through hip hop and become these people which changes their perception on other people and changes their attitudes. • 10. Healthcare And Health Care Industry Introduction: Over the past few decades health care industry in United States is facing three major problems related to quality, costs and access. The health care expenditure in United States has increasing drastically over the years and United states still ranks top in health care spending when compared to other top nations in the world. Despite of having high health care expenditure, Americans have limited access to health care, spends higher costs for the procedures and getting poor health care outcomes. In a recent study conducted by common health care fund, it estimates that United States health care funding is approximately two times higher than top 13 nations in the world. To address these limitations in health care industry in United States, on March 23, 2010, President Barack Obama signed the patient protection and affordable care act in to law. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Water typically appears at 1.56 (δ, ppm) meaning that the odd appearance of the peaks were due to the overlay of water s solvent peak. This conclusion was further confirmed by analyzing the integration ratio of the peaks. The ratio was found to be 2:10 rather than 2:8 this means that two extra protons were accounted for within the two up field peaks, these protons most likely belonged to water. The expected product, cyclohexene, had in fact been formed however; the product was contaminated with trace amounts of water. This outcome most likely resulted because the cyclohexene was not dried after it was distilled. The reaction mixture may have been distilled for too long, thus allowing water vapors to distill into the receiving flask. For future experiments, it would be imperative to dry collected products thoroughly to ensure their purity. Bromination of cyclohexene The theoretical yield of the bromination of cyclohexene (Figure. 2) was calculated to produce 12.2 mmol (2.93 g) of trans 1,2 dibromocyclohexane. The actual yield of product collected was 0.308 mmol (0.0739 g) which resulted in a 2.50% yield of a colorless product. In the future. the exchange rate between Canada and the US is predicted to help the Canadian sports teams. Experts can predict with accuracy how exchange rates will change up to two years in advance(Campbell). This allows sports teams to plan for the gap between American dollar salaries and Canadian dollar revenues. When the exchange rate is in favor of the Canadian dollar, more money is available to teams. This allows them to spend more on player salaries, possibly making their teams better without having to worry as much about revenue. For teams who are very successful in recent years, such as the Toronto Blue Jays, the exchange rate becomes less of an issue. Even though they chose to spend more money on player salaries, the team has performed so well that the fan loyalty and interest has gone up enough to cover the costs. The exchange rate can also impact teams negatively. One example is the Winnipeg Jets. They eventually had to relocate to Arizona because they could not create enough revenue selling in Canadian dollars. The Vancouver Canucks faced a similar problem in 2002. They played their players a total of $62 million US which exchanges to $81 Canadian. This left the team with $19 million Canadian dollars to be made up through other ways. The NHL is the 99th most profitable business in Canada (Maich) and therefore is highly impacted by the exchange rate. Canadian sports teams will have to make a choice between paying their players less money or pay them more but find new ways to bring in money in order ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He reflects on his nation s politics, Irish mysticism, the afterlife, love, and his own past. While each set of his poems share many recurring images, however, it is Yeats examination and opinions of the gyres of time and history that crop up in all forms of his poetry. While references to this great spiraling metaphor for the fabric of the universe can be found in some of Yeats most famous works, such as Sailing to Byzantium , Long legged Fly and Easter 1916 , to name just a few, it is an aspect of his poetry which is relevant to almost all of his writing. This metaphor is far stronger than the one of the falcon, as the great beast begins moving it s slow thighs . The creature represents an antichrist, a further image of this destruction of man. The blank and pitiless gaze it gives emphasizes its lack of human emotion, and the brutal nature of its task. The, all of a sudden, darkness drops , and the vision is over. Reflecting on what he saw, Yeats talks of the nightmare to come, and that for the rough beast, its hour come round at last . Overall, the poem sets out clearly what Yeats truly believes as the future for mankind. The structure is also worthy of note. Usually, Yeats stuck strongly to established rhyme schemes and stanza structures, however, in this poem he choses not to. While stanza one 8 lines, the second is 14, and this emphasizes to some extent the lack of clarity in Yeats vision, as his description what he saw flows out of him almost uncontrollably. Also, the lack of rhyme scheme indicates once more the havoc and ruggedness of events to come, although word repetition does connote a feeling of the slowly turning gyre, turning round and round endlessly. The second of the two poems, Leda and the Swan , takes us back to the first era of destruction, cruelty and war, before the epoch of Christianity. It tells the mythical tale of Leda being ... How Do Ancient Astronauts Have Altered Human Culture There has been a big controversy for as long as anybody can remember whether ancient astronauts have visited earth and altered the human culture and development or not. There are many theorists out there that will tell you first hand that ancient astronauts do exist and will give you all the explanations they have until they prove to you that they do exist. Most of them do know what they are talking about. Ancient astronauts did come to earth a long, long time ago, they did help humans advance in technology and did inspire the human culture because there is too much evidence of large and precise structures being built that humans even in modern time would have trouble building, and also because humans most likely did not know where to start for their culture, and ancient astronauts helped humans build all of that, thus, ancient astronauts had to have existed with all the explanations to back up this conspiracy, and ancient astronauts may not be here now, but they for sure were once here on earth. ... Literary Analysis Of Pablo Picasso s Guernica Julius Byla Hake English 101 10/22/17 Picasso s Guernica Throughout time paintings have been used to record events, communicate ideas or evoke an emotional response. Pablo Picasso s painting Guernica does just this. Guernica was created to bring attention to the Nazi bombing of the town of Guernica, Spain during the Spanish civil war in the second half of the 1930s. Its exhibition was used to provide relief and a call against the horrors of war. Through its visual elements and symbolic concepts, Guernica depicts the chaos and aftermath of the bombing of the city and the need to bring about change over the tragedies of war. In the center there is a mangled horse pierced by spear and below it, the mangled body of a fallen soldier. To the right are three women, one crawling towards the light, above her is a woman leaning out of a window holding a lit lantern and the other screaming while falling from a burning building.
