The Importance Of Environment On The Environment
The environment has a major influence in the personal health of a child and many of them are not
aware of how it affects them drastically. Various health conditions are either caused or aggravated by
environmental factors. One of the major health causing hazards is air pollution which can results in
asthma, cancer, and other severe respiratory conditions of which, many of these children are naïve
about how to protect themselves from these diseases. Students from the grades four through sixth need
to be educated about the health hazards resulting from air pollution and learn practices at school that
will help lessen air pollutants for their overall health and for future generations as well. Applications
such as riding your bike and walking to school, and creating your own garden, will help promote good
health for children as it will help improve air quality for them.
Education
Educating students on environmental hazard, specifically air pollution, at a young age can help
prevent premature respiratory conditions and so, teachers must find creative ways for students to
understand how much air quality can affect them. To begin one of these activities, teachers will
provide background information about common issues that are affecting the environment both
globally and locally then provide an activity that will get students engaged as to understanding why
and how these issues came to be. Students in grades four through six should be able to understand the
characteristics of organisms and their environment, and so teachers will focus on the latter of this
topic. One of the lessons would be teaching what is environmentalism, by stating that, everything that
we do in our daily lives affects this interrelationship [ecology] as the earth is always changing. Today
people are changing the earth faster than any forces of nature. We have created many problems like
landfills, oil spills, and nuclear disasters (Norwood 1996). Once understanding the facts, students will
record a weeks worth of visible pollution by spreading a thin layer of Vaseline on one side of several 3
by 5 index cards then placing the cards in a variety of places where they will be undisturbed for one
week. At the end of the week collect all the

Fall Prevention in Hospitalized Patients Essay
Introduction Falls are a big concern for all employees in a hospital setting daily. The worst thing that
can happen to a patient while being hospitalized is a fall, or a major fall, that could result in skin
damage (i.e. wounds, skin tears, or abrasions), a fracture or break, thus limiting their independence.
This student s goal was to develop a way to educate staff members in ways they can help reduce the
number of falls that occur. Developing a sample Fall Risk Prevention Policy as well as a Staff in

Proposed Defunding Of Agricultural Classes On The Nation...
As of March of 2016, Gov. Bruce Rauner of Illinois has proposed defunding of agricultural classes in
his state. Think about this, the governor of a state where one in four jobs in Illinois are directly related
to agriculture wants to give a grand total of zero dollars to the Future Farmers of America along with
ag classes in general. This is the reason that schools not only should offer agriculture related classes,
but in order to graduate from high school every student should at least take one class of ag. At the end
of the day all people must know where the nation s food comes from and how it gets from the pasture
to the store. There are only two percent of the nation s population that are farmers. Two percent of the
people in America raise the crops and the meat for the whole country. This number needs to change in
order to ensure that children and the nation s children will be able to survive. Today s kids do not
know where their food is from which means they take farmers for granted. One personal story that can
be recalled happened just recently. A student pointed to a turkey and asked What is that? A giant
rooster? The response was No, that is a turkey, and they come from turkey houses. This is what
brought up the thought of just how important ag education is. The ones in the field work very hard to
improve the ways of life for the animals and plants they grow so that the people of America can eat. A
recent study showed that U.S. cattle ranchers raise just

Freud And The Unconscious Mind
Freud and the Unconscious Mind
Known widely as the Father of modern psychology, there is not a scholar in the current history of
psychology that has been so widely debated, criticised or had as much influence on our current ways
of thinking and understanding layman s psychology as Sigmund Freud. To put into context his vast
influence, consider the term Freudian Slip a phrase so innocuous yet extremely telling of the vast
influence of Sigmund Freud on our everyday life. Freud represents a layman s ideas of psychology,
the image of a well dressed housewife smoking a cigarette reclining on a low leather chaise whilst
spilling her darkest secrets to an elderly doctor who takes notes and nods his head occasionally. This is
an image seen countless times in various different scenarios, the patients and props varying yet the
influence remains the same.
Freud s theories in many ways were revolutionary; far ahead of their time and despite the criticism
that followed; their popularity remains undiminished as Sigmund Freud remains one of the most
researched and written about psychologists in modern history. However his most significant work was
the Psychodynamic Theory. The Psychodynamic Theory represents all of Freud s work regarding the
human psyche, it explains personality in terms of conscious and unconscious forces, building upon his
previous collaboration with Josef Breuer in 1892 on the theory that the mind is a complex energy
system (Sigmund Freud: The Unconscious Mind

Comparing Crime And Punishment By Fyodor Dostoyevsky
The novel Crime and Punishment written by Fyodor Dostoyevsky explores the idea that sin will
continually erode your soul away. The main protagonists are a murderer named Rodion Romanovich
Raskolnikov, and the girl he falls in love with, Sonia Semyonovna Marmeladov. Both Sonia and
Rodion lead very different lives; it is evident how convictions and beliefs guide the way these two
characters live their lives. Sonia believes in the New Testament, and reads it regularly, and also
believes that through faith comes death to the old self, and eternal life through Christ. Sonia s christian
convictions affect her love for people, her self sacrifice, and her firm foundation in Christ. Sonia is
devoted to people by faithfully loving them despite their brokenness. ... Show more content on

As Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov goes to confess his murder to the town government, Sonia gifts
him a cypress cross to remind him of why he is telling the authorities. Sonia says to Rodion, Go at
once, this very minute, stand at the cross roads, bow down, first kiss the earth which you have defiled
and then bow down to all the world and say to all men aloud, I am a murderer! Then God will send
you life again (Dostoyevsky 302). Regardless of the murderer Raskolnikov is, Sonia still loves him
without end. In addition to loving Raskolnikov, Sonia also loves her dad unconditionally. Before his
death, her father, Marmeladov was s drunkard. He is unwilling to provide for his family. Sonia gave
her father money regularly, even though she knew he would drink his money away. Sonia shows her
devotion to others by lovingly caring for others. Crime and Punishment shows Sonia as, ...the

The Economic And Social Changes During The 1960s Under The...
Life in America began to undergo great economic and social changes during the 1980s under the
Reagan Administration. During this period of time, stagflation began to distress the US economy,
leaving millions of Americans to fall victim to homelessness and poverty. The unemployment rate had
reached its highest peak since the Great Depression, creating a major crisis for low income families
and other individuals concerning living conditions. The introduction of Reaganism into society
primarily focused on reducing the growth of government spending through the modulation of federal
income tax and reduction of government regulation to diminish inflation. Despite all attempts for
economic recovery, the US struggled to bounce back from the 1970s recession and in time led to the
significant rise in urban poverty. Uniquely, an American film director from the 1980s by the name of
John Carpenter produced a science fiction film, They Live, that served as a powerful and eye opening
depiction of his own personal views of Reaganism (Reaganomics). He essentially depicts our world to
be controlled by powerful elites who have created a repressive society that we are unwilling brought
to live and build in. He also clarifies how the majority of Americans during the 1980s were focused
primarily on materialism and how an individual s success was measured by the amount of money they
possessed. Carpenter s major criticisms of 1980s America included the impact of consumerism in
America as well as

Saint Francis Of Assisi Analysis
Kind and giving, Saint Francis of Assisi had these attributes. Helping lepers and giving to the poor, he
definitely had the right to say, Not hurting our humble brethren is our first duty to them. He never hurt
a soul, even animals fell into his care. Francis, a Roman Catholic friar and preacher, lived up to his
saying. Above the treetops he watched beautifully feathered birds, calling them his little brothers and
sisters. He treated all with respect, building others up for the glory of God.
This proverb may be confusing to some, but Saint Francis did not mean it to be. Gently, this saying
was directed to wealthier healthier people, saying that they should help those who are not as
prosperous. An easier way to think of this quote is, Do not hurt those less fortunate than us for that is
what they desire most. This meaning that we should never tear down or hurt others just because they
are less fortunate.
Loving and considerate, this saying tells us not to be hateful or abusive to the impoverished, Francis is
gently lecturing more fortunate people to help those who need food more than they do. This is a
reminder for us as well, even if we don t feel old enough anyone can help. If we do not speak up for
others then there will be no one to speak up for us when we need it most. ... Show more content on

Red Coon Hunt Research Paper
Billy was an adventurous little boy who lived near the Ozark Mountains. He wanted two Red
Coonhounds more than anything in the world. Although his parents could not afford two dogs, that did
not stop Billy from trying to get them. With the help of his grandfather, who sold coon skins for Billy,
he saved enough money up and bought two Red Coonhounds from Kentucky in a sportsman s

The Lord Of The Flies Critical Analysis
Literature doesn t necessarily have to fit it into the reader s life, novels like Fahrenheit 451 or 1984
lack major connections to teenage life, but are still taught in school, a book should teach a lesson or
give food for thought, this book does. The Lord of the Flies is a novel that has become a mainstay in
high school literature for decades, some detractors of this book believe that, since it has nothing to do
with high school teens, its main audience, it should be removed from public schools. However, the
Lord of the Flies acts as a social experiment, allowing for discussion of the way rules control our
interactions in society. In addition to this, the book shouldn t be removed from school since it also

On the other hand, those with darker intentions like Roger, will act and follow through on their darkest
desires once there s nothing there to stop them. This holds true to how teens interact with laws in
society, like deciding to listen to a rule or not, a rule being an obstacle in the way of someone s plans,
or a law that is viewed as the best for society.
The book should be maintained as a standard in the classroom because it discusses the topics of
innocence, bystanderism, and vulnerability. Out of ignorance, in the pouring rain and lightning, The
clan of boys savagely beat Simon to death. They had thought he was the mythical beast on the island.
Many excuses were made, but one to point out is Piggy s, That s right we was on the outside, we never
seen nothing (Golding 158) he exclaimed, after the topic of Simon s death arose. Bystanding while
bad things happen to others is a common theme, a belief that if you ignore it, it ll go away, like how
the boys decide if they deny they were at the scene of Simon s death, it ll make feel slightly less
responsible for it, although they were all part of it. They try to deny their loss of innocence, and make

Case Summary Synopsis
One man s claim of stumbling upon a small village and leaving behind a big promise to a little girl has
resulted in what is known as the Three Cups of Tea Scandal. There are disputed claims of Greg
Mortenson s details within his book Three Cups of Tea being false. He states that after attempting to
climb Mount Kilimanjaro, he gets separated from his climbing group and finds himself in a small
village, Korphe, located at the bottom of the Karakoram mountain range in northeastern Pakistan.
Whilst being taken care of by the villagers after wandering for 84 days, a young girl approached him
and asked him to build a school for them. He made a promise to do so and that became the start of the
Central Asia Institute. Within Three Cups of Tea , Mortenson also claims to have been kidnapped by
the Taliban whilst looking for a place to build a school. These men from the Taliban supposedly held
him hostage for eight days until he promised to build schools in that same area. (Court, Livelli,
Usman, 2011) These details were the intriguing and inspiring details of Mortenson s books that
brought many to donate in the first place and why many became distraught after finding that almost
everything he said was false. He did not visit Korphe until nearly a year after he said he did and those
men that kidnapped him were really his hosts in the village he was visiting. The men claim that the

happened physically and mentally. The story is built through personal accounts and the bias that is
built through these stories. Eggers controls the narrative and what readers should feel and sets the
reader up for a story controlled by him, the author. The beginning of the book introduces the
protagonists. A personal attachment is instantly felt by the readers. Zeitoun s background is introduced

United States Six Economic Social Classes
Society is set up into a hierarchical triangle that essentially determines social class. A social class is
any person or group of people with the same educational, social or economical status. Social class can
be broken down into many different categories such as race, age, gender, economic status, educational
status and many more. Social class can be measured in many different ways such as financial status,
family values, appearance, and demeanor. In America there are six main economical social classes
which are the: Very poor, Poor, Working class, Middle class, Upper middle class, and the ruling class.
The very poor class contains all citizens that have a very low economic status. Most have no economic
security, are unemployed, and have no education after high school. American citizens in this class
have just enough money to survive. The poor class includes any American citizen who does not have
enough money to have basic necessities. The working class includes American citizens who have
enough to provide basic needs for their family. They do not have some of the simple luxuries; if they
do; they have to save up to buy it. In the middle class, most citizens go to college. People in the
middle class do not necessarily live paycheck to paycheck, but have enough money to spend on
leisure. The next social class in America is the upper middle class, whose citizens mainly attend
private or charter schools. ( Hancock, 1998). They hold professions such as doctors and

The Wright Brothers And The First Flight
n Dr. Amentrout s lecture he discussed the process of scientific discovery, using the Wright Brothers
and their journey to the first flight . Along, with the Wright Brothers, he used four other aeronautics
pioneers. Dr. Amentorut described the process in five simple steps: 1. Go with your passion 2. Be
willing 3. Learn what has been done before 4. Let the ideas flow 5. Don t give up when the
unexpected happens. The Wright brothers spark for aviation began in 1878, Wilbur, the oldest at
eleven years old and Orville, seven, when their father gave them a toy helicopter. It sparked them to
take it apart and remake it better than it was before they took it apart. Like many other successful
people, but not all, the Wright brothers did not go to college. Even though Wilbur was accepted into
Yale, he decided not to go because he had his teeth knocked out a few weeks prior. This was his set
back, being that he really wanted to go. Despite this setback, in 1892, Wilbur started his bicycle
business, manufacturing and producing bikes. He designed and hand made them himself. He went
with his passion that he found at the age of eleven, creating and designing. Wilbur Wright was also
willing to try something different, and go a different route. When the Wright brothers decided to aim
for the first flight, flight in general, they looked back at previous work of those before them.

to open the minds of the audience to the world of ballet. The relationship between Nina and her
mother is different from most mother and daughter relationships. Nina s mother lives vicariously
through her daughter and has placed Nina under a firm parenting control. Nina has been dancing ever

An unreliable narrator is character whose telling ... the story is not completely accurate or credible due
to ... mental state or maturity. A reliable narrator is a character is accurate and credible in their point of
view. Nina is unreliable because in order to become the Black Swan Nina starts to envision a darker
vision of her. During this whole process Nina of becoming the Black Swan she has nervous ticks
because she is worried about being perfect Swan Queen. The pressure of being perfect for the roles of
being the Black and White Swan causes the darkness of the Black Swan to consume Nina. Nina
develops a double personality. Nina starts to see herself peeling her skin of her fingers and scratching
her back, thinking there are black feathers in her back. Nina starts to become an unreliable narrator
because of her hallucination of her darker self. In Nina s hallucination Lily is seen as an extreme threat
and represents the darker vision of her. In Nina s mind, she begins to see Lily as the Black Swan so;
before Nina performs the part of the Black Swan Nina envisions herself killing Lily/darker version of
her. This helps Nina become the Black Swan in her mind and she does the dance perfectly. When Nina
goes back to her dressing room the real Lily comes to congratulate her. As the audience, we come to
understand there are two different Lily in the movie. The real Lily is the new dancer that wants to be

Pros And Cons Of Lowering The Driving Age
Personally I am very excited to receive my driver s license within the next year, but if all of the
sudden instead of waiting one year I had to wait three to four years because the legal driving age was
raised to either eighteen or twenty one I would wonder why. So should the legal driving age raised?
Driving opens up a whole new world for teenagers. Driving let s teenagers understand what the life of
adulthood is like and the responsibility behind driving, buying food, getting groceries, getting gas, and
so much more. Driving also gives teenagers the responsibility to do things on their own and not rely
on their parents if they want to do something.
Driving to school is a common theme for high school students especially nowadays. Some high school
students don t have access to a school bus and rely on a parent to take them to school. High school
student, Shawn Peterson has said he must scramble for a ride to school each morning because his
mother works. Shawn Peterson is not the only student who relies on driving to school or getting drove
to school and if all of these students now didn t have a car then transportation to school become a
major issue in the U.S (Keilman).
Without driving many teenagers social lives would go down and would prevent teens from having
other activities like a job (Keilman). Driving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only real negative of teenage driving is how dangerous it is when all people do is blow it up in the
media when there is so much that can be done to prevent the dangers like improving the drivers ed
classes, parents helping their kids, and making the roads safer. A car makes you feel more free which
is healthy for any teenager and this is just one of the many benefits or positives I have been talking

Korean Culture Report Essay
KOREAN CULTURE REPORT HUMOR
I was the funny guy in my clique of high school friends. Ever since I learned to read English, I
enjoyed reading and collecting joke books. I exhausted every single joke book from the small
community library in town. Riddles, jokes about animals and wildlife, reasons why I didn t do my
homework, lawyer jokes, and later on, ethnic jokes. I knew they were funny, but I wanted more.
Perhaps it was my lack of physical achievements that made me obsess with a need to entertain my
peers.
My return to Korea in the summer of 2001 was nothing short of a culture shock. I was in a country I
thought I had learned by heart. It was the country I always rooted my identity and pride from. I wasn t

Talchum is a type of Korean dance performed with a mask, miming, speaking, and singing. It is
loosely choreographed in the traditional sense of a dance, and organized more towards theatre. It was a
farcical caricature of its contemporary era, with a sick twist of vicarious humor, from its very roots
traced back to the era of ancient Three Kingdoms of Korea (37 BC 668 AD). The leading appeal of
Talchum has always been the biting satire and vicarious ridicule it pointed at apostate Buddhist
monks, decadent upper classmen, and incompetent shamans. It is interesting to note that the
aggressive nose thumbing was towards the upper class, religious leaders, and generally figures higher
in the social rung.
The farcical, burlesque aspects of Talchum as our cultural heritage did not translate very well into
modern culture in Korea, but the satire of authority figures did. For example, watch Infinite Challenge,
a highly successful Korean television entertainment program (highest non drama viewership since
November 2006). Six members appear regularly on the show, each member revolving around a certain
archetype. Yoo Jae suk, the leader. Park Myeong su the elder brother and entrepreneur. Jeong Jun Ha

who is stranded at sea and Richard Parker the tiger, who accompanies him on his journey. The story is
centered upon Pi and how he was able to heroically survive 227 days at sea and the struggles he had to
overcome. In the story, faith plays a significant role in Pi s personality and demonstrates how he was
able to overcome his hardships through faith. From this, reader s can evaluate their own faith based on
the significance of Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam. The point i m trying to prove is how throughout
the story you can see how faith plays a significant role in shaping Pi s personality.

The Russian Revolution And The Revolution
In 1917 a great revolution would collapse Russia s monarchy and extend the color of red throughout
the world. During this time, Leon Trotsky and Vladimir Lenin were instrumental in causing the grand
collapse of the Russian government and the reformation into a communist state. The Russian
revolution changed the world when it happened and I believe it changed the people of Europe after it
occurred.
The Russian Revolution actually has two important parts to it the February Revolution (March 1917)
and the October Revolution (November 1917). The February Revolution, which took place in modern
day St. Petersburg, was lethal to the royal government of Russia. It began with the bread, it was not
like they did not have the supplies for the population, the problem was the breakdown of the transport
system (Figes 68). The February Revolution was also largely caused by the ineffectiveness of the
Russian military in World War One and the failure of the Russian empire throughout the last couple
decades. The people of Russia were ashamed of the military throwing away their lives and having to
eat sparingly to survive the winter. Peasants were so poor they could barely afford a piece of bread for
a week. Mass demonstrations were held in the squares and violence took to the streets. People
ambushed the royal guards in front of the palace and they were shot down by the insignificant force
left to guard the capital. The revolution was largely leaderless as Russian people just wanted food

Human Papillomavirus ( Hpv )
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is responsible for most of both incident and prevalent Sexually
Transmitted Infections in the U.S (Satterwhite et al., 2013). Approximately, 14 million Americans
aged 15 59 years are newly diagnosed with HPV each year and a half of them occur among young
adults aged 15 24 years (Markowitz et al., 2014). Similarly to female, the prevalence of genital HPV
infection is estimated to be at least 20% or higher in male population (Dunne et al., 2006). While most
HPV infection (70 90%) may be clear by itself in three years, HPV can also cause genital warts and
anogenital cancers (e.g., cervical, vaginal, anal, penile cancers) (Frazer et al., 2006). In the U.S.,
20,000 women and 12,000 men are diagnosed with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regular and consistent use of condoms offers only partial protection (60%) against HPV infection
(Winer et al., 2006). Furthermore, due to the fact that most HPV infected persons do not show obvious
signs or symptoms, HPV detection and prevention programs have been met with a great challenge.
The opportunity for prevention of HPV infection was presented with the licensing of an HPV vaccine
in the U.S. The HPV vaccine (Gardasil®) was first approved for females aged 9 26 in 2006 and for
males aged 9 26 in 2009 (CDC, 2013). Despite of the vaccine being considered as a medical
breakthrough (Radhakrishnan, 2006), national data shows considerably low HPV vaccination rates.
For adolescents aged 13 17, 44.3% have received at least one dose and 26.7% have received three
doses of HPV vaccine. For young women aged 19 26, only 17.1% have received at least one dose of
an HPV vaccine (CDC, 2011b). Due to such results, more marketing campaigns and research studies
are being done to help increase the HPV vaccination rate among women.
For young men, however, HPV vaccine related research is sparse. The HPV vaccination rate among
boys/men is currently unknown. There is a need to assess the current HPV vaccination rate and to
understand what can influence college men s decision in obtaining the HPV vaccine. Then, the HPV
prevention and vaccination programs can be equally

Charter Schools Book Review
Charter Schools: Another Flawed Educational Reform?, a book written by the late Seymour B.
Sarason, author and Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology and Institution for
Social and Policy Analysis at Yale University, is a plea to educators and legislators alike to thoroughly
consider the possible effects of creating and funding charter schools. Sarason s background in the
field, at the time of publication, spanned over fifty years, and included many educational reform
related papers and books. Discussed in five key points, the author outlines the possible issues new
charter schools could face as a result of their implementation. Sarason points out that, while these
schools have ample potential, most will almost certainly be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Seymour B. Sarason makes some excellent points and makes sure to instill a sense of agency and
urgency within the reader, as to why they should care and how they can go about being effective in
working with these new organizations. However, I chose not to use this piece in my final project. The
reason for this choice is simple: The information was not relevant in the context of my argument.
While this book is by all means a reputable source of information, the book was published in 1998,
almost twenty years prior to my presentation, making the source out of date. Though many of the
claims were accurate for the time, not all are accurate for today. Charter Schools was a good read, but
the information I need for my presentation looks at a more recent scope of the subject and how it
affects students today and how it may affect future students. Sarason s text would have been relevant
if I was doing an informative piece about why charter schools fail (or succeed) or how the instatement
of charter schools can better benefit the student, just to name a few examples. As it stands, however,
this piece did not provide me with the information I needed, and thusly I did not use

Oppression And Poverty In Bodega Dreams
ntro In the novel, Bodega Dreams there are many moments and times when the people of Spanish
Harlem experience the oppression against them during the 80 s. This novel focuses on the oppression,
crime and poverty affect the people who grew up in Spanish Harlem. East Harlem is usually known
for being a poor neighborhood. In much social science literature on the neighborhood, Spanish Harlem
is defined primarily by its poverty. (Martinez). Likewise, in the novel, there are also examples of
being poor and people struggling financially. Spanish Harlem needed a change and fast. Rents were

In the case of East Harlem, rising crime fears are accompanied by an obvious statistical explanation:
Countering trends in most of the city, crime there has increased drastically. Over the past year, it has
gone up by 17 percent, according to Police Department figures, with increases in rape, robbery and
felony assault, among other transgressions. (Bellafante) Both of these examples show that crime in
East Harlem is a common thing that is part of their daily life. Similarly, in Bodega Dreams there are
times when Chino notices crime taking place around him. Fires, junkies dying, shootouts, holdups,
babies falling out of windows were things you took as part of life. (5) Students who attend schools can
be affected by their culture, race and background, much like how Puerto Ricans were oppressed in
East Harlem in the 1980 s. This article explains how race can affect how people of certain races grow
up, and how they are treated, and how when this treatment is unfair, the students usually drop out of
school. Study examines how race, culture influence school discipline, dropout rates .

goal was to own more than a family restaurant or steakhouse, but to own, a place where everyone
could come together share a great meal with great fun for a great price (Stokes). They are known for
their legendary food such as hand cut steaks, fall off the bone ribs, made from scratch sides, and fresh
baked bread (Our Story). They strive to make hearty meals that stand out by handcrafting everything
they serve except for the T bone steak and by giving larger portions so you get more food for your
dollar (Stokes). Kent s mission also includes having legendary service due to the low ratio of tables
per server and legendary fun, which may consist of the servers singing happy birthday to a customer
or periodically line dancing not all locations have line dancers to the jukebox and televisions playing.
Their future strategy is to continue their legendary quality and service along with moderate growth as
they are set for opening new locations in 2018, while keeping their 2016 Voted #1 Steak by Nation s

Racial Injustice in A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine...
I have a dream that one day little black boys and girls will be holding hands with little white boys and
girls. by Martin Luther King Jr, the dream that is still unfulfilled. White supremacy, black inferiority,
Jim Crow law, segregation, racial terror, and racial inequality are the most common topics of
American history. The quote of Martin Luther King Jr asserts the truth that racial injustice was in the
vein of the American dream. He hopes someday that injustice, the view that African Americans are
inferior will go away, and they will be treated equally like a full human being. The theme of racial
injustice is prevalent in both A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry and Sonny s Blues by James
Baldwin stories. Both of the stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later in the story, another bomb attack reported in the paper which was much closer to home: a
racially motivated attack against a black family integrating a white neighborhood. That event was
announced by the Younger s neighbor Mrs. Jonson, when they were ready to move to the all Whites
Clybourne Park. Example scenarios from the above certainly provide the evidence of racial terrorism,
and its fear among the Black community.
In contrast Sonny s Blues , talks about the fear of direct physical harm. Narrator s mother described
that in a moonlit night some dunk white folks killed his uncle in front of his father which is a horrific
act of racism. However, mama says, I ain t telling you to make you scared of bitter or to make you
hate nobody. I m telling you this because you got a brother. And the world ain t changed (346).
Comment of the narrator s mother clearly shows the view point of the African American people of that
time to their American dream, and how they were living in fear of physical harm.
Jim Crow law legalized the segregation between the blacks and whites thought out the USA in the
19th century, and that led to the discrimination such as housing inequality and neglected segregated
black community. That law allowed the whites to discriminate black people from the equal
opportunity of housing and prohibit blacks from living in

Acute Respiratory Failure Caused By Aspiration Pneumonia
Acute Respiratory Failure Caused by Aspiration Pneumonia
My patient is a 47 year old female who was admitted into the University of Kentucky hospital on
September 9th, due to acute respiratory failure with hypoxemia. She was in respiratory distress and
had an altered mental status. Her chief complaint was shortness of breath.
Her medical history showed a history of strokes with left hemiparesis/aphasia, seizures, hypertension,
chronic systolic and diastolic dysfunction, mechanical aortic valve replacement, depression with
psychosis, nephropathy, and GERDS. She currently resides in a skilled nursing facility. Initial
assessment of my patient revealed she had an increased work of breathing using accessory muscles
she had a fever of 39 degrees Celsius. Vital signs included, respiratory rate 31, blood pressure 130/85,
breath sounds were diminished with crackles in the bronchioles. Chest physical examined revealed
increased fremitus and a dull percussion note.
After arriving at the emergency department at U.K. hospital, my patient reported to having choked
while eating breakfast on 9/7/16. She also mentioned that she frequently chokes while eating, so this
was not a surprise to her. She reported that she had another spell with pneumonia previously this year
as well as having difficulty breathing. She was placed on a bipap with 100% FIO2, with some
improvement of the hypoxia. Her sats were 86%. She was switch to a NRB mask at 100% FiO2. After

Aloe Vera, And The Vitality Of Youth Essay
Aloe Vera, also called simply Aloe, is a flowering, cactus like succulent plan that thrives in dry, hot
climates, and is believed to be at least 6,000 years old. Kumari is the Ayurvedic name for aloe, and is
translated as the vitality of youth (Chopra Simon, 2000, p. 66). Native to Africa ( Aloe, 2016), it is
grown in tropical and sub tropical areas ( Aloe UMMC, 2015). Different parts of the plant have
different uses. The leaves, which are thick (cactus like) and fibrous, have three layers. The central pulp
contains gel that is extracted for use both topical and internal use (Chopra Simon, 2000, p. 67). The
fibrous part of the plant is used to make a laxative from the Aloe latex that is extracted. Some products
are made using the whole crushed leaf, and contain the latex and gel ( Aloe WebMD, 2016).
The gel made from Aloe Vera, either pure or as part of a mixture, is commonly used in moisturizing
products for skin, is often included in sun block/sunscreen ( Aloe, 2016).
It also has a wide variety of medicinal purposes, including burns, wounds, skin irritations, and
constipation both historically and currently. Recently, it has not been recommended for use as a
laxative. Today, Aloe is still one of the most common herbs used for a multitude of purposes ( Aloe
UMMC, 2015, para. 1). It is also considered as a tonic for the liver (Lad, 2009, p. 130).
The Aloe Vera plant is also known as the burn plant (Dossey Keegan, 2016, p. 374) and, as mentioned

Essay on Psychological Egoism
Psychological Egoism
The descriptive claim made by Psychological Egoists is that humans, by nature, are motivated only by
self interest. Any act, no matter how altruistic it may seem on the outside is actually only a disguise
for a selfish desire such as recognition, avoiding guilt, reward or sense of personal goodness or
morality. For example, Mother Teresa is just using the poor for her own long term spiritual gain. Being
a universal claim, it could falter with a single counterexample. And being that I believe this claim to
be bunk I will tell you why!
If I help a friend out of trouble, there is a chance that I would feel happy afterwards. But was that
happiness the motive for my actions or just the result? I didn t ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, how can one know with any certainty that they are acting in their ultimate self interest?
What they do could me in their immediate self interest, but could work against them in the future,
knowingly or unknowingly.
Also, when a situation arises in which one must make a split decision, does the psychological egoist
expect a human to deliberate whether the action is in their self interest or not? For example, if I see my
child run out onto a busy street and I can see that if I run out and grab her I can save her life and if I do
not, my child will be squished by a speeding car. Do I, as the egoist would expect, take the time to
deliberate that saving my child will result in all kinds of good for both her and I? No, I rush out and
grab her in an instant and the good comes later. Now of course it is true that we sometimes get
satisfaction and/or good feelings from acting unselfishly, but it would be a post hoc fallacy to say that
we perform unselfish acts solely for the sake of that satisfaction. Also, self interest and an interest for
the welfare of others can certainly be bedfellows, and not strange ones. Using the shopkeeper
example, he could opt never cheat his customers simply because he knows that honesty is good for
business. He could cheat his customers and make a boatload of money, but he knows that it is wrong
to cheat and lie to people it hurts them, is unfair and may make him feel guilty. So, self interest or
selfishness is not

  • 2. The Importance Of Environment On The Environment The environment has a major influence in the personal health of a child and many of them are not aware of how it affects them drastically. Various health conditions are either caused or aggravated by environmental factors. One of the major health causing hazards is air pollution which can results in asthma, cancer, and other severe respiratory conditions of which, many of these children are naïve about how to protect themselves from these diseases. Students from the grades four through sixth need to be educated about the health hazards resulting from air pollution and learn practices at school that will help lessen air pollutants for their overall health and for future generations as well. Applications such as riding your bike and walking to school, and creating your own garden, will help promote good health for children as it will help improve air quality for them. Education Educating students on environmental hazard, specifically air pollution, at a young age can help prevent premature respiratory conditions and so, teachers must find creative ways for students to understand how much air quality can affect them. To begin one of these activities, teachers will provide background information about common issues that are affecting the environment both globally and locally then provide an activity that will get students engaged as to understanding why and how these issues came to be. Students in grades four through six should be able to understand the characteristics of organisms and their environment, and so teachers will focus on the latter of this topic. One of the lessons would be teaching what is environmentalism, by stating that, everything that we do in our daily lives affects this interrelationship [ecology] as the earth is always changing. Today people are changing the earth faster than any forces of nature. We have created many problems like landfills, oil spills, and nuclear disasters (Norwood 1996). Once understanding the facts, students will record a weeks worth of visible pollution by spreading a thin layer of Vaseline on one side of several 3 by 5 index cards then placing the cards in a variety of places where they will be undisturbed for one week. At the end of the week collect all the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Fall Prevention in Hospitalized Patients Essay Introduction Falls are a big concern for all employees in a hospital setting daily. The worst thing that can happen to a patient while being hospitalized is a fall, or a major fall, that could result in skin damage (i.e. wounds, skin tears, or abrasions), a fracture or break, thus limiting their independence. This student s goal was to develop a way to educate staff members in ways they can help reduce the number of falls that occur. Developing a sample Fall Risk Prevention Policy as well as a Staff in service on fall risk and Prevention achieved this goal. • 5. Proposed Defunding Of Agricultural Classes On The Nation... As of March of 2016, Gov. Bruce Rauner of Illinois has proposed defunding of agricultural classes in his state. Think about this, the governor of a state where one in four jobs in Illinois are directly related to agriculture wants to give a grand total of zero dollars to the Future Farmers of America along with ag classes in general. This is the reason that schools not only should offer agriculture related classes, but in order to graduate from high school every student should at least take one class of ag. At the end of the day all people must know where the nation s food comes from and how it gets from the pasture to the store. There are only two percent of the nation s population that are farmers. Two percent of the people in America raise the crops and the meat for the whole country. This number needs to change in order to ensure that children and the nation s children will be able to survive. Today s kids do not know where their food is from which means they take farmers for granted. One personal story that can be recalled happened just recently. A student pointed to a turkey and asked What is that? A giant rooster? The response was No, that is a turkey, and they come from turkey houses. This is what brought up the thought of just how important ag education is. The ones in the field work very hard to improve the ways of life for the animals and plants they grow so that the people of America can eat. A recent study showed that U.S. cattle ranchers raise just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Freud And The Unconscious Mind Freud and the Unconscious Mind Known widely as the Father of modern psychology, there is not a scholar in the current history of psychology that has been so widely debated, criticised or had as much influence on our current ways of thinking and understanding layman s psychology as Sigmund Freud. To put into context his vast influence, consider the term Freudian Slip a phrase so innocuous yet extremely telling of the vast influence of Sigmund Freud on our everyday life. Freud represents a layman s ideas of psychology, the image of a well dressed housewife smoking a cigarette reclining on a low leather chaise whilst spilling her darkest secrets to an elderly doctor who takes notes and nods his head occasionally. This is an image seen countless times in various different scenarios, the patients and props varying yet the influence remains the same. Freud s theories in many ways were revolutionary; far ahead of their time and despite the criticism that followed; their popularity remains undiminished as Sigmund Freud remains one of the most researched and written about psychologists in modern history. However his most significant work was the Psychodynamic Theory. The Psychodynamic Theory represents all of Freud s work regarding the human psyche, it explains personality in terms of conscious and unconscious forces, building upon his previous collaboration with Josef Breuer in 1892 on the theory that the mind is a complex energy system (Sigmund Freud: The Unconscious Mind ... • 7. Comparing Crime And Punishment By Fyodor Dostoyevsky The novel Crime and Punishment written by Fyodor Dostoyevsky explores the idea that sin will continually erode your soul away. The main protagonists are a murderer named Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, and the girl he falls in love with, Sonia Semyonovna Marmeladov. Both Sonia and Rodion lead very different lives; it is evident how convictions and beliefs guide the way these two characters live their lives. Sonia believes in the New Testament, and reads it regularly, and also believes that through faith comes death to the old self, and eternal life through Christ. Sonia s christian convictions affect her love for people, her self sacrifice, and her firm foundation in Christ. Sonia is devoted to people by faithfully loving them despite their brokenness. ... As Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov goes to confess his murder to the town government, Sonia gifts him a cypress cross to remind him of why he is telling the authorities. Sonia says to Rodion, Go at once, this very minute, stand at the cross roads, bow down, first kiss the earth which you have defiled and then bow down to all the world and say to all men aloud, I am a murderer! Then God will send you life again (Dostoyevsky 302). Regardless of the murderer Raskolnikov is, Sonia still loves him without end. In addition to loving Raskolnikov, Sonia also loves her dad unconditionally. Before his death, her father, Marmeladov was s drunkard. He is unwilling to provide for his family. Sonia gave her father money regularly, even though she knew he would drink his money away. Sonia shows her devotion to others by lovingly caring for others. Crime and Punishment shows Sonia as, ...the daughter who gave herself up for the cross, consumptive step mother and for little children of another... the daughter who had pity upon the filthy drunkard, her earthly father, undismayed by his beastliness (Dovesty 14). • 8. The Economic And Social Changes During The 1960s Under The... Life in America began to undergo great economic and social changes during the 1980s under the Reagan Administration. During this period of time, stagflation began to distress the US economy, leaving millions of Americans to fall victim to homelessness and poverty. The unemployment rate had reached its highest peak since the Great Depression, creating a major crisis for low income families and other individuals concerning living conditions. The introduction of Reaganism into society primarily focused on reducing the growth of government spending through the modulation of federal income tax and reduction of government regulation to diminish inflation. Despite all attempts for economic recovery, the US struggled to bounce back from the 1970s recession and in time led to the significant rise in urban poverty. Uniquely, an American film director from the 1980s by the name of John Carpenter produced a science fiction film, They Live, that served as a powerful and eye opening depiction of his own personal views of Reaganism (Reaganomics). He essentially depicts our world to be controlled by powerful elites who have created a repressive society that we are unwilling brought to live and build in. He also clarifies how the majority of Americans during the 1980s were focused primarily on materialism and how an individual s success was measured by the amount of money they possessed. Carpenter s major criticisms of 1980s America included the impact of consumerism in America as well as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Saint Francis Of Assisi Analysis Kind and giving, Saint Francis of Assisi had these attributes. Helping lepers and giving to the poor, he definitely had the right to say, Not hurting our humble brethren is our first duty to them. He never hurt a soul, even animals fell into his care. Francis, a Roman Catholic friar and preacher, lived up to his saying. Above the treetops he watched beautifully feathered birds, calling them his little brothers and sisters. He treated all with respect, building others up for the glory of God. This proverb may be confusing to some, but Saint Francis did not mean it to be. Gently, this saying was directed to wealthier healthier people, saying that they should help those who are not as prosperous. An easier way to think of this quote is, Do not hurt those less fortunate than us for that is what they desire most. This meaning that we should never tear down or hurt others just because they are less fortunate. Loving and considerate, this saying tells us not to be hateful or abusive to the impoverished, Francis is gently lecturing more fortunate people to help those who need food more than they do. This is a reminder for us as well, even if we don t feel old enough anyone can help. If we do not speak up for others then there will be no one to speak up for us when we need it most. ... Although his parents could not afford two dogs, that did not stop Billy from trying to get them. With the help of his grandfather, who sold coon skins for Billy, he saved enough money up and bought two Red Coonhounds from Kentucky in a sportsman s magazine. As soon as the dogs arrived in the town of Tahlequah, Billy went to retrieve them. After gaining two coonhound dogs, one boy and one girl, Billy named the boy Old Dan and the girl Little Ann. Case Summary Synopsis One man s claim of stumbling upon a small village and leaving behind a big promise to a little girl has resulted in what is known as the Three Cups of Tea Scandal. There are disputed claims of Greg Mortenson s details within his book Three Cups of Tea being false. He states that after attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, he gets separated from his climbing group and finds himself in a small village, Korphe, located at the bottom of the Karakoram mountain range in northeastern Pakistan. Whilst being taken care of by the villagers after wandering for 84 days, a young girl approached him and asked him to build a school for them. He made a promise to do so and that became the start of the Central Asia Institute. Within Three Cups of Tea , Mortenson also claims to have been kidnapped by the Taliban whilst looking for a place to build a school. These men from the Taliban supposedly held him hostage for eight days until he promised to build schools in that same area. (Court, Livelli, Usman, 2011) These details were the intriguing and inspiring details of Mortenson s books that brought many to donate in the first place and why many became distraught after finding that almost everything he said was false. He did not visit Korphe until nearly a year after he said he did and those men that kidnapped him were really his hosts in the village he was visiting. A social class is any person or group of people with the same educational, social or economical status. Social class can be broken down into many different categories such as race, age, gender, economic status, educational status and many more. Social class can be measured in many different ways such as financial status, family values, appearance, and demeanor. In America there are six main economical social classes which are the: Very poor, Poor, Working class, Middle class, Upper middle class, and the ruling class. The very poor class contains all citizens that have a very low economic status. Most have no economic security, are unemployed, and have no education after high school. American citizens in this class have just enough money to survive. The poor class includes any American citizen who does not have enough money to have basic necessities. The working class includes American citizens who have enough to provide basic needs for their family. They do not have some of the simple luxuries; if they do; they have to save up to buy it. In the middle class, most citizens go to college. People in the middle class do not necessarily live paycheck to paycheck, but have enough money to spend on leisure. The next social class in America is the upper middle class, whose citizens mainly attend private or charter schools. ( Hancock, 1998). They hold professions such as doctors and ... During this time, Leon Trotsky and Vladimir Lenin were instrumental in causing the grand collapse of the Russian government and the reformation into a communist state. The Russian revolution changed the world when it happened and I believe it changed the people of Europe after it occurred. The Russian Revolution actually has two important parts to it the February Revolution (March 1917) and the October Revolution (November 1917). The February Revolution, which took place in modern day St. Petersburg, was lethal to the royal government of Russia. It began with the bread, it was not like they did not have the supplies for the population, the problem was the breakdown of the transport system (Figes 68). The February Revolution was also largely caused by the ineffectiveness of the Russian military in World War One and the failure of the Russian empire throughout the last couple decades. The people of Russia were ashamed of the military throwing away their lives and having to eat sparingly to survive the winter. Peasants were so poor they could barely afford a piece of bread for a week. Mass demonstrations were held in the squares and violence took to the streets. • 32. Aloe Vera, And The Vitality Of Youth Essay Aloe Vera, also called simply Aloe, is a flowering, cactus like succulent plan that thrives in dry, hot climates, and is believed to be at least 6,000 years old. Kumari is the Ayurvedic name for aloe, and is translated as the vitality of youth (Chopra Simon, 2000, p. 66). Native to Africa ( Aloe, 2016), it is grown in tropical and sub tropical areas ( Aloe UMMC, 2015). Different parts of the plant have different uses. The leaves, which are thick (cactus like) and fibrous, have three layers. The central pulp contains gel that is extracted for use both topical and internal use (Chopra Simon, 2000, p. 67). The fibrous part of the plant is used to make a laxative from the Aloe latex that is extracted. Some products are made using the whole crushed leaf, and contain the latex and gel ( Aloe WebMD, 2016). The gel made from Aloe Vera, either pure or as part of a mixture, is commonly used in moisturizing products for skin, is often included in sun block/sunscreen ( Aloe, 2016). It also has a wide variety of medicinal purposes, including burns, wounds, skin irritations, and constipation both historically and currently. Recently, it has not been recommended for use as a laxative. Today, Aloe is still one of the most common herbs used for a multitude of purposes ( Aloe UMMC, 2015, para. 1). It is also considered as a tonic for the liver (Lad, 2009, p. 130). The Aloe Vera plant is also known as the burn plant (Dossey Keegan, 2016, p. 374) and, as mentioned ... • 34. Essay on Psychological Egoism Psychological Egoism The descriptive claim made by Psychological Egoists is that humans, by nature, are motivated only by self interest. Any act, no matter how altruistic it may seem on the outside is actually only a disguise for a selfish desire such as recognition, avoiding guilt, reward or sense of personal goodness or morality. For example, Mother Teresa is just using the poor for her own long term spiritual gain. Being a universal claim, it could falter with a single counterexample. And being that I believe this claim to be bunk I will tell you why! If I help a friend out of trouble, there is a chance that I would feel happy afterwards. But was that happiness the motive for my actions or just the result? I didn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, how can one know with any certainty that they are acting in their ultimate self interest? What they do could me in their immediate self interest, but could work against them in the future, knowingly or unknowingly. Also, when a situation arises in which one must make a split decision, does the psychological egoist expect a human to deliberate whether the action is in their self interest or not? For example, if I see my child run out onto a busy street and I can see that if I run out and grab her I can save her life and if I do not, my child will be squished by a speeding car. Do I, as the egoist would expect, take the time to deliberate that saving my child will result in all kinds of good for both her and I? No, I rush out and grab her in an instant and the good comes later. Now of course it is true that we sometimes get satisfaction and/or good feelings from acting unselfishly, but it would be a post hoc fallacy to say that we perform unselfish acts solely for the sake of that satisfaction. Also, self interest and an interest for the welfare of others can certainly be bedfellows, and not strange ones. Using the shopkeeper example, he could opt never cheat his customers simply because he knows that honesty is good for business. He could cheat his customers and make a boatload of money, but he knows that it is wrong to cheat and lie to people it hurts them, is unfair and may make him feel guilty. So, self interest or selfishness is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
