The lab experiment was divided into parts and the synthesis of the aspirin occurred during the first
week. Using 4.032g of salicylic acid 8.0mL of acetic anhydride on a hot bath the reaction was speeded
up by the use of a catalyst phosphoric acid. Once the sample was then left to dry in the drawer for a
week using the melting point apparatus we conducted the purity assessment of the dried sample.
Introduction:
Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) is a commonly known drug used to treat fever, pain and inflammation,
aspirin can also be purchased over the counter medication or by prescription from a doctor. The
synthesis of aspirin occurs by combining acetic anhydride and salicylic acid, salicylic acid is a
naturally occurring product that can be found in the bark of a willow tree1. Since it is highly acidic
and salicylic acid would potentially damage the gastric membrane hence the addition of the acetic

A few drops of phosphoric acid are added to the reaction, phosphoric acid acts as a catalyst so as to

The main reason for the introduction of the open carry law was to reduce crime due to the threat a gun
poses and how it will deter potential thieves, robbers and criminals from injuring an individual due to
the presence of a gun. Thus, it is intended so that guns will make the civilians feel safe and create fear

Out of all the characters, Rev. Tanimoto undergoes the most drastic post war makeover, as it pertains
to his lifestyle. He travels through the U.S. to get funding and support for a new peace center. Hersey
seems to spend the most time on him and he even ends the narrative by describing an old Mr.
Tanimoto in a comfortable modern lifestyle and home. It is could in fact be deemed a political
allegory for what happens when good intentions, no matter how pure, are mixed with a yearning to
please and bad ways to do it.

found to have a cubic spinel structure with average crystallite sizes 15 43nm. It was observed that
increasing the amount of non magnetic Cd2+ up to certain amount leads to an increase of saturation
magnetization. The band gap energy tends to increase with silica coating and increasing in Cd2+
content to reach maximum value of 1.61eV for Cd0.5Co0.5Fe2O4/SiO2 sample, which implies that
this material is suitable for magnetic data storage and magneto optical nanodevice applications.
