2. A Greco Roman Audience On The Gospel Of Luke
A Greco Roman Audience
Readers of the Gospel of Luke often try to identify Luke s intended audience.
Understanding Luke s intended audience can provide insight into how Luke used
current culture to strategically spread the word of God. Specifically, we can look at
the period of Hellenization, along passages, to interpret Luke s Gospel as intended for
a Greco Roman audience.
After the campaigns of Alexander the Great, but before the Birth of Jesus, Palestine
endured a period of Hellenization. This period of Hellenization brought a sense of
unity to Alexander s empire, as Greek culture, language, politics and religions
spread. Greek culture was so strong that even the Hebrew kings felt compelled to
take Greek names in an effort to integrate. However, Alexander s rule did not last for
long. Eventually, King Herod took control, splitting the empire into three parts, two
of which were ruled by Herod s sons. The Herodian dynasty brought Roman
influences in architecture, language, economics and culture, mixing with the Greco
influence from Alexander s reign. Jesus was born into a world filled with Greco
Roman culture. Thus, it was imperative that Luke understood the culture and framed
his writing in a way that attracted the Greco Romans. Luke begins his Gospel, which
was written in Greek, with a dedication to Theophilus, It seemed good to me also,
having followed all things closely for some time past, to write and orderly account for
you, most excellent Theophilus... (Luke

About FAQ Contact
The topic of immigration has been a focus of controversy throughout the entire
international community. Waves of immigration influx in nations have caused surges
in nationalist tendencies amongst political leaders and citizens alike. Fears of cultural
erosion, resource exhaustion, and economic struggle has shown nations that were
once supportive and progressive in their actions towards the acceptance of
immigration have moved inward on themselves to protect themselves from a
culturally diverse world. The reason to review this document is to question and
analyze its attempt to explain and define the growth of nationalism in democratic
countries, to be specific the United Kingdom, and how these surges occur, as well ...

In the end this document does take a unique approach in showing the extended reach
and influence the media has in shaping the outlooks of citizens on the world and
society wither the events illustrated directly affect the individual or not. The emphasis
on how the media is creating a progressive dilemma through the portrayal of
increasing numbers of immigrants into the nation and the threats this influx has on
the cultural stability and longevity of the nation explains how the citizens of the
nation, wither directly affected by immigration or not, move towards a more
protectionist and nationalist state of mind in order to promote the conservation of
the nation s ethnic culture. The act of addressing the problems with public opinion
when not provided with all of the facts, but only certain facts, does show its colors
and makes for a strong topic to be discussed and addressed in further literature due
to being only lightly addressed here. Being that the biggest problem with this paper
is the fact that there was such a small and focused group of individuals polled, and
no others, it would be best that future research into this matter should contain a
broader range of data, while still focusing on the central topic of how perceived
effects of immigration cause growth in nationalist and

The...
In the late 1920s, the Committee on Uniform Crime Records was established by the
International Association of the Chiefs of Police (IACP). The goal of the Committee
was to develop a systematic way to measure crime in the United States. The
Committee collaborated and decided to focus on seven (7) specific crimeareas which
they felt were the most known crimes and the most likely to be reported. These
crimes were: burglary, robbery, larceny theft, rape, auto theft, murder and aggravated
assault (James Rishard, 2008).
The IACP developed their own definitions of these crimes to ensure uniformity of
reporting the data collected. This information and definitions were published in
1929 in the Uniform Crime Reporting Manual. The first report of data collected
was published later that same year and was amassed from 400 cities across the 48
contiguous United States, as well as the territories of Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto
Rico. This report became known as the Uniform Crime Report (UCR). The
following year, in 1930, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) was tapped to
control the crime data collected for the UCR (James Rishard, 2008).
Since 1930, there have been a few modifications made to the UCR. The FBI began
recording the age, sex and race of those arrested as well as increasing the known
crimes reported to law enforcement from seven (7) categories to eight (8) categories
by adding the category of arson (James Rishard, 2008).

5. Examples Of Stereotypes In Pop-Culture
How Ethnicity is Portrayed in Pop Culture in both Greece and the United States
Stereotypes are not always accurate, but when it comes to describing Greek People
many of them are true. Most of these are true to an extent, but due to pop culture all
these aspects are presented to their extreme and can be misleading. In addition, the
difference in which these aspects are depicted in Greek films versus American films
can be very different. Being loud, very family oriented, carefree, and extremely
proud of their identity are a few of the most popular stereotypes when describing
Greeks. Pop culture can be deceiving at times as everything is exaggerated in order to
catch the audience s attention and have a shock factor, but those aspects, exaggerated

6. My Catholic School Leadership Experience
Leadership Experience
My Catholic School leadership experience stems from years of being involved in
my diocese, first as a student, then as an employee and then as a mother who raised
and educated three children in that diocese. I am a firm supporter of Catholic
education as I have experienced the benefits that only a Christ centered learning
environment can provide as a student, parent and educator.
Over the years, I have worn many educator hats such as a Director of Resource,
classroom teacher, Head Start teacher, special s teacher, and as a teacher s aide.
My leadership experiences have not been ones in an administrative role, but I have
had leadership experiences both informal and formal in nature. My years as a
professional educator with a Virginia Collegiate Professional license has allowed
me to teach in public settings as well as Catholic schools, at many different grade
levels and for me, all of those experiences have influenced my leadership skills.
My leadership can be seen in my experience as the Director of Resource in my school
of 600 students, Preschool through the eighth grade. I supported parents, teachers
and administrators as they maneuvered the obstacles involved in identifying
learning needs as well as the challenges that follow after identification. I worked
directly with teacher and families to complete the necessary paperwork and
advocated on their behalf with the public school system. Under the role as director, I
was solely responsible for
7. The Conventions Of Parents Face Raising Their Children
Essay
Conventions of Parenting in Leave it to Beaver Most modern family films highlight
the hardships that parents face raising their children, which are often then followed
by moments that make parenting the most rewarding. Films often sugar coat events
of how parents may react to certain situation which is a misrepresentation of a family,
but we must keep in mind that films are not real life stories unless they are
documentaries. In this Essay, I will be using Marianne Hirsch s work on the
familial gaze and Sharon Varallo s piece on family photographs as tools in order to
analyse the film Leave it to Beaver. The film Leave it to Beaver released August
1997, is based on the successful Tv series comedy that was released in 1957. I will
be drawing on both Hirsch and Varallo s work which explores the representation of
western and non western families by using photographs, and using their incite to
further strengthen my argument. Not all families are alike, most certainly not in
values, religion, culture, race, just to name a few, but all families have hardships
and it s how those hardships are handled that make a family stronger. A stronger
family often starts with the parents and how they treat one another. For example,
parents are seen as role models to their children and those kids pick up habits, from
their parents, whether they be good or bad. As I analyse the film Leave it to Beaver,
I will be exploring the portrayal of parenting conventions that accurately represent

scope of this article. First it briefly introduces the regional and global trade
agreements that I will examine. Then list the member nations, how the trade group

economically.
Introduction
I. Global Economic Organization WTO defined.
The World Trade Organization(WTO) is an international organization because of the
benefits from the mutually binding commitments. Countries join the international
system and sign the international trade agreement for the mutual benefit of all. This
desire to work with other countries encourages the country to sign the international
agreement which regulates trade practices, and ultimately maintains compliance with
the policies of international trade. WTO was found in 1995, and took the place of the
GATT. In 2015, Kazakhstan became the 162th member.

Out in the field, you need to make sure that you have high quality gear on you to
ensure that your hunt goes smoothly. Whether it s making sure that you stay warm
with thick, durable clothing, or having an adequate blade for when it s time to dress
your kill, the best gear can mean the difference between a successful hunt or an
unproductive day in the woods.
Of all the gear you can have, however, I would argue that one of the most important
pieces is your rifle scope. As a hunter, vision is probably your best asset, considering
that you have to see your target to ensure a proper kill. Today I ll be showing you
some of the best hunting scopes on the market so that you can get your next prey in

Unfortunately, CVLIFE doesn t seem to name its scopes differently, so I ll just
refer to this one as the 50mm model. When talking about lens sizes, I like a larger
scope since it lets in more light and gives me better vision. Thus, this 50mm model
is a marked improvement over the previous 40mm version. However, you don t get
a laser sight on this scope, which may or may not be a bad thing, depending on how
much of a badass you want to be.
Other notable features of this unit include a variable zoom range of 6 24X, a multi
coated lens for better clarity overall, and the fact that it comes with rings to mount on
a 20mm Weaver Dovetail Rail. Unfortunately, the rings that come with the scope only
attach to that rail, so if you have something different (like a Picatinny), then you ll
need to get a different set of rings.

Sentimental or Social Themes in Charlotte and Ruth Hall
The subject matter of early American women writers has been criticized in the past,
but the messages these authors sent women and society cannot be denied. Susanna
Rowson and Fanny Fern came from two different time periods in American history,
but their impact on society is similar. In both cases, the women experienced great
success as writers during their time. Their popularity shows how their messages were
transferred to many people of their time. By exploring the themes of these novels, a
better understanding of females in society can be gained. The themes of womanhood

penniless in an unknown land of strangers, unable to care for herself. For Charlotte,
this transition from child to woman was her downfall, and this shift occurs when she

according to Cathy N. Davidson, in the sense that she engages in intimacies intended
only for marriage in the 18th Century respectable women. Montraville, on the other
hand, prevails; he goes on to marry well. For him, manhood has to do with being
financially responsible, but he could have a fling along the way. The consequences
were unimportant when he pursued Charlotte. When he sees with his own eyes what
comes of Charlotte during her funeral procession, he then realize
that his perception was wrong. Though Charlotte had no fortune, her previous
commitment to virtue is rich. Womanhood was miserable for this young woman. She
faces tough decisions, and she does not make the best choices when forced to do so
on her own.
In a sense, womanhood can also represent inferiority in Charlotte and Ruth. Consider
that Rowson s work was considered a sentimental novel, and this title has not been

associated with popularity , emotionality , religiosity , and domesticity , all of which

plastic toys, some medication containers. PVC is considered semi toxic and
releases hormonal toxins that can alter someone s hormones. Plastic #4: Low

very low toxicity. Plastic #5: Polypropylene (PP), is used for yogurt and similar
containers and is found to release some toxins.Plastic #6: Polystyrene (PS) , this is
styrofoam and is very bad it can release styrene which can damage the nervous

14. Profit Is Not The Purpose Of Enterprise
Profit is not the purpose of enterprise
Introduction
Many people mistakenly think that the purpose of the company is simply to make
money. In fact, profit is actually just an important result of the existence of a
company. The real reason for company existence has to be further studied. Companies
need profits, but more importantly they must have the social responsibility.
Companies have a great responsibility to their employees, customers, suppliers and
the general welfare of society, as well as the ecological environment. It inevitably
comes to a conclusion that the existence of the company is to be able to complete a
work which cannot be done by one person. It actually is a kind of contribution to
society. But now, it can be seen that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For one hundred percent of the profits, all human laws will be trampled by these
capitals. If there are three hundred percent of the profits, any crime will be
committed, even with the risk of strangulation (Marx, Engels, Levitsky, 1996). For
example, before Enron declared bankruptcy in 2001, it had about 21,000 employees
and was one of the world s largest electricity, gas and telecommunication companies.
The company had been named as America s most innovative company by Fortune
for six consecutive years. But the real cause of Enron famous in the world was
financial fraud scandal which made this company with hundreds of billions of assets
in bankruptcy within a few weeks (Cahan Zhang, 2005). Therefore, it can be seen that
the pursuit of profit as the purpose of the enterprise inevitably causes the emergence
of various cases of unsustainable development, thereby harming the enterprise,
society, the community, the environment and the staffs.
The purpose of business is to provide goods and services, thus contributing to society.
Despite obtaining profit is not a fundamental purpose of business, profit and purpose
are not in confrontation. There are correlations between profit and purpose.
First, profits are the result of corporate contribution to society. If the business
provides the community with the necessary products and services in an efficient way,
then the business will earn profits. Therefore, profit is

Monkeys will keep giving themselves doses of cocaine until they die; most people

16. Historical Conflict Between Palestine And Israel
On the 13th of September, 1993, a seldom moment between Israeli Prime Minister,
Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian Liberation Organisation Chairman, Yasser Arafat
marked a context in history. The Oslo Peace Accords had been written and signed by
the two leaders the newly found peace, marked with a single handshake.
Unfortunately, this ideal of a non violent and diplomatic future did not prevail. The
peace process between Palestine and Israelfailed due to the assassination of Yitzhak
Rabin, subsequent to the handshake signalling the agreement. The continuity of this
conflict initially caused by sovereignty and ultranationalism, has resulted in a current
inability for both Palestine and Israel to come to terms with an agreeable, nonviolent,
two state solution. The historical conflict between Palestine and Israel, the
significance of the handshake, reactions, Rabin s assassination and effects, as well as
the current situation between Palestine and Israel will be discussed in order to
account for the failure of the peace process.
Firstly, the historical conflict between Palestine and Israel is both complex and
extensive. In 1882, the Zionist movement sought to identify a place whereby Jewish
people could create settlements. To the Jewish, Palestine appeared as the most
optimal and logical place as it holds the site of Jewish Origin Jerusalem. During the
diaspora of World War 2, an increase in Jewish migration to Palestine created
consciousness for the Palestinians. Preluding

18. Analysis Of Electrospinning Nannofibers
The main technique that will be used during this project is electrospinning
nanofibers. The goal of electrospinning is to produce polymer fibers so that their
diameters are much smaller, on a nano scale size. Electrospinning fibers is a
relatively cost effective and simple set up (Pham, 2006) as shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1: Shows an example set up that contains a syringe, a collector and designates
the controlled variables of applied voltage (V), distance between the tip and the
collector, and the flow rate/charge density, Q (Pham, 2006).
As the name and figure implies, the polymers are exposed to conditions in which
charge and voltage are applied that propel the fiber from the tip and Taylor cone to
the collector in a circular motion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This input is relevant as it is the driver for the jet propulsion system that creates the
fibers. Voltage and the presence of beads has been found to have a proportional
relationship in the sense that if the voltage applied to the system is increased, there
is an increase in the presence of beads (Pham, 2006). The mechanics that cause this
relationship is when the voltage is altered, the jet generated from the tip has a
change in volume that causes a change in the of the Taylor cone (Pham, 2006).
Recall that the Taylor cone is the result of the difference of charges between the
applied electric field charge and the surface charges that causes the shape of the
fluid to become a cone as seen in Fig. 2 (Garg, 2011). Furthermore, the flow of the
jet is important so that the jet has the proper amount of time to travel from the tip to
the collector. Studies have found that a slower flow generates thinner diameter fiber
as well as less beading (Pham, 2006). Other parameters such as design of the
different components of the system play a role in the quality of fibers created. These
include the characteristics and location of the needle tip and jet collector. Our goal is
to optimize all of the different parameters that are inputted into the system so that the
the presence of the beads will be minimized, so that the integrity of the scaffolds are
maintained.

21. Some Of Common Misconceptions In Lullaby By Leslie
Marrman...
1.)What are some of the common misconceptions about indigenous writers? In
what ways do the writers we ve read play on those stereotypes? Some of the
common misconceptions is that indigenous writers are that they could not speak
English, uneducated, all lived in teepees, and their medicine was primitive. The
writers that we have read about dealt with these stereotypes was by including hints
and lines that these stereotypes are false. Lullaby by Leslie Marmon Silko has a
line about where the Indians stayed showing that they did not live in teepees. In
this story they lived in a boxcar shack where the rancher let the Indians live (pg
1545). Pawn Shop by Sherman Alexie is a very short work that demonstrates that
Indians are civilized. The man in the story goes into a bar looking for all of his
friends but can not find them so he leaves after the bartender gives him a free drink
for all of his troubles. I leave, searching the streets, searching storefronts, until I
walk into a pawn shop, find a single heart beating under glass, and I know who it
used to belong to, I know all of them (pg 1647). This works demonstrates that
Indians are just like normal people who go to shops, bars, and lose people along
the way that they miss dearly. 2.) Select one writer and write an extended reader
response to his/her work. Why did you like/dislike the work? Why? Lullaby by
Leslie Marmon Silko is a work that is depressing. There is real truth within it but it
is saddening. The beginning of the story a woman is remembering happier times
and her family members. Jimmie, which I was not able to identify the relationship
between the women and Jimmie was being remembered and thought upon by the
women. She realizes that she should not dwell on him since he is not dead. Yet,
one day a dark blue sedan with white writing on its doors pulled up in front of the
boxcar shack where the rancher let the Indians live. A man in a khaki uniform
trimmed in gold gave then a yellow piece of paper and told them that Jimmie was
dead (pg. 1545). The fact this woman found of that Jimmie was dead and she was
just telling herself that he was still alive to give herself hope is heartbreaking. I did
not like the work, the themes of death and

Alfred As The Master Of Suspense In The Climbing Frame Scene In The Film The

The Birds is a film made in the 1960 s based on the short story The Birds by
Daphne Du Maurier. The film was directed by Alfred Hitchcock, a British born
director who is known for other tense, suspense filled films such as Psycho and
Vertigo . Due to the extensive special effects of the film, it took three years to make.
During the film Hitchcock created several suspense filled, tense scenes. Including the
Climbing Frame scene. Alfred Hitchcock tries to live up to his title The Master Of

The weather is sunny and it is quiet. From this single camera shot we see Melanie in
her car driving down the road with the Bodega Bay School in the distance. Here,
Hitchcock is trying to give the impression that everything is normal. The sky is blue
and the roads are clear. Nothing indicating anything out of the ordinary is shown.
Melanie arrives at the school, parks her car and gets out. We hear young voices
singing and innocent children s song. We can see, with the camera behind Melanie,
her car and the entrance of the Bodega Bay School Melanie walks up the stairs and
enters the school.
The sound in this early part of the scene is very direct by the means of everything is
given to the audience. We ear the young children s voices singing an innocent school
song. Immediately, when we hear the young children singing it gives the children
naivety, by using the song as a symbol of innocence.
As she opens the door of the school we find out it is the school children who are
singing this song. Melanie opens the inner door of the school and volume of the song
increases. This increases the symbolism of innocence on the children.
When Melanie looks into the classroom, she distracts a few children from their
singing. Melanie looks up, and we see Annie the schoolteacher at the front of the class
directing the children. Annie

26. Defining Characteristics Of The 12 Step Approach
Introduction A brief overview of the defining characteristics of the 12 step
approach (Baldwin et al., 2011, Bateson, 1971, Jellinek, 1960, Lacan and Miller,
1998, Raikhel and Garriott, 2013, Schenker, 2009, University of Chester, 2016,
Wilcox, 1998) with particular focus on its definition (NCCMH, 2008) and UK
based studies (Best et al., 2001, Day et al., 2005, Harris et al., 2003) recognising
the translatability of the 12 steps relating to higher power and personal
responsibility (Appendix 1, p.11) create tensions for client/patient engagement
(Best et al., 2001, Harris et al., 2003) and staff/professional referral (Day et al.,
2005). A commissioned report by National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health
(NCCMH, 2008) by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and
a recent 8 year review of the aforementioned (NICE, 2016) inform current NICE
guidelines including referrals to 12 step (NICE, 2007). The current evidence base
(NCCMH, 2008) uses a systematic review of the literature (McAuliffe, 1990,
Etheridge et al., 1999, Moos et al., 1999, Fiorentine and Hillhouse, 2000,
Toumbourou et al., 2002, Weiss et al., 2005, Timko et al., 2006). An 8 year review
of the evidence (NICE, 2016) finds no new evidence to warrant evolving the existing
guideline, providing supporting evidence and emerging evidence to inform the
current guidelines (Johnson et al., 2006, Kelly et al., 2010, Laudet et al., 2006,
McKellar et al., 2009, Timko and DeBenedetti, 2007). A
27. My Love Of Writing
Writing has always played a huge role in my life. I ve been reading writing for as
long as I can remember as I have an immense love of reading. This love would grow
into a love for writing as well; I still stumble upon journals and writings from my
five year old self about the happenings in my kindergarten class. As time would go
on I would discover academic writing, and how to convey my thoughts on what was
the topic of student that particular year or semester in my schooling. Later, writing
would become a constant for me, and a comfort; I was known to my friends as
always having a journal, and a pen on my person. I learned to write down my
feelings and my thoughts, song lyrics that were in my head, reflections for the day. I

Moreover, it s crucial that I understand and make use of the particular conventions
of each of these genres of writing. In my quest to reach those goals and be a more
successful writer, I know I need to practice time management, honing my writing
skills, collaboration; in terms of the review and revision process, as well as focusing
on the best strategies to properly convey the desired affect on the work s audience.
I hope to gain experience from this writing course, and from my fellow classmates.
I hope to gain insight into how other people write and go about their writing
process. I hope to learn from the feedback I receive from my instructors and peers
on my writing submissions. I wish to come out of this course a better writer all
around, and in addition to form good habits that will carry me far beyond the scope
of this course. Ideally, I hope to complete all of the outcomes listed in the WPA
Outcomes Document. I have high expectations of myself. I plan to learn from my
mistakes, and take the lessons from each assignment forward into how I approach
the follow assignment. I expect to learn and keep better time management skills,
and I expect myself to grasp all that a FYC has to teach me and to incorporate it in a
way I failed to do before. From
28. Political Time vs. Ordinary Time
Discuss how political time is different than ordinary time, in terms of resistance
groups. For instance, the resistance fighters in Viet Nam fought first the French, in
Indochina, then the Americans, from 1945 until 1975, for thirty years. How is it
possible to motivate subordinates to fight that long?
Political time differs from that of ordinary time in the amount of time it takes to
reach an end result. As ordinary time may take anywhere from a few days to several
years, political time refers to the amount of time it takes to achieve the ultimate goal
of a group or organization. In the case of the resistance fighters in Vietnam, their
willpower came from the motivation to continue fighting for a higher cause. Their

Before the swan met the moon, there were only two beautiful things in her life
dancing and her beauty.
She knew the moon was a kind man, with his gentle eyes which turned into small
crescents when he smiled, but she would never be quite good enough for him. Even
though she danced and danced and danced, until the snow underneath her feet turned
into a river of red, she could only blend with the moonlight, but the swan was a swan.
And a swan could not be the moon.
So she offered herself to the moon, to the moon who must love her so much. She

The moon who used to be loved by the Sun was broken, it lost its light when it finally
left the Sun s shadow, there was no more moonlight for the girl to dance in, and the
moon wouldn t dance with her anymore.
Time used to chase her, but now she had all the time in the world, because the world
stopped spinning when the Sun stopped loving the moon.
The moon was no longer the moon, he was a thousand pieces of stars consumed by
the black hole, and the girl spent what felt like light years trying to find all the
pieces, and she tried to piece the moon back together.
But the girl never managed to get the moon back together quite right, because the
hands which used to build, could only break, and the eyes which used to be so
gentle, there was a caged beast inside.
It wasn t okay, it would never be okay. But it was the fault of the girl who thought

She couldn t leave.

32. India s Economic And Political Structure Essay
India gained its independence in 1947 and its economic and political structure has
been thriving ever since. Now, India is a democratic country that continues to
mature as it improves its market based system. Its growth can be seen in industrial
deregulation, privatization of state owned enterprises, and reduced controls on
foreign aid and investment. Like the US, it has divided powers between the
executive, legislative, and judicial branches. The current Prime Minister is
Narendra Modi, who leads the Bharatiya Janata Party. India s economy is made up
of agriculture, industries, and services and is the second largest workforce in the
world. Growth slowed in 2011 due to high interest rates and inflation, but has
continued to move forward in other ways. The United States is a representative
democracy whose market economy is diverse. Under President Barack Obama, the
US is using expansionary fiscal and monetary policy to counteract the Great
Recession that began in 2007. There is a trade deficit currently as it imports more
than it exports. Services and manufacturing are a major part of the economy. The US
has many natural resources and good infrastructure, which are some of the
contributing factors that allow the US economy to be one of the largest and most

sects of the Christians religion were at odds with each other. Early Christianity had
numerous different sects and varying beliefs and each sect was convinced that their

34. Animalism In The Catastrophist
For him, the possibility of any mutation or metamorphosis was to be taken for
granted, if not indeed welcomed, as was the contingency that, dead sun or no dead
sun, the terrestrial globe could very readily be imagined after we re gone, claims
Christopher Hitchens, an English author, literary critic and journalist, in his article
The Catastrophist, where he comments on the pattern which James Graham Ballard
takes for the course of his works, each one of them showing a depressing and
deranged picture of humanity prone to animalistic and self destructive actions.
Hitchens describes Ballard as heavily influenced by Freud and surrealists, who taught
him what he already knew: religion is abject nonsense, humanbeings positively enjoy
inflicting cruelty, and our species is prone to, and can coexist with, the most
grotesque absurdities. It also reveals the latent effects that The World War II had
on Ballard s psyche, as it forced him into life in the internment camp in his early
teens, where he experienced over two years of the helplessness of religion in
defiance of worldwide violence and the more animalistic particularities of people
cramped in a limited space. Ballard adheres to the motion of humanity degrading, no
matter if in an overpopulated place like the tower in High Rise or almost entirely
secluded house as in Enormous Space.

Fire prevention is a term being heard more and more today in America. It is

Today we have moved beyond young men in street rattling wooden noise makers,
technology has given us a new kind of fire alarm. There are 2 main kinds of fire
alarms: ionization and photoelectric. Ionization alarms sound more quickly when a
flaming, fast moving fire occurs, photoelectric alarms are quicker at sensing
smoldering, smoky fires. There are also combination smoke alarms that combine
ionization and photoelectric into one unit, called dual sensor smoke alarms. Most of
the fire alarms are powered by batteries which in order for the alarm to work, need to

establish a voice for the minority, and a path to freedom and liberation from the
dominance of the normalized majority. In her work The Second Sex. De Beauvoir
tackles the oppression of women. While not a minority, women are written out of
society by a more dominant male society, and experience oppression like that felt by
the minority. Like minority groups, women are relegated to a status of otherness in

Simone de Beauvoir defines the lived experience of women as one of otherness, and
from this stems the oppression of women. De Beauvoir explains the lived experiences
of women when she states that he is the Subject; he is the Absolute. She is the other.
The man constitutes himself at the subject and the absolute, both descriptors place
complete emphasis and importance on the man, the women are only relevant in their
existence as the other. Since women are presently regulated to the category of the
other, humanity is male, and man defines women, not in herself, but in relation to
himself; she is not considered an autonomous being. Without a form of autonomy
women have no basis for understanding themselves as women. If women must
identify themselves through men, there is no way to escape a society in which men
are the center of society and women are merely peripheral beings that conflate
themselves to the wills and wishes of the more relevant man. De Beauvoir s notion
of liberation and freedom called on women to reclaim the category of womanhood to
create an autonomous and working woman who can break out of the master slave
dynamic created by the

In Grandview Boulevard, completed in 1974 CE, the artist utilizes painterly

more painterly aspects than the rest of the composition. From far away, the painting
seems smooth and sleek, but up close, the individual thick brushstrokes can be seen.
The implied texture of the leaves in the painting is sturdy and prickly, and the
texture of the yellowed grass appears to be dry and coarse, however, the actual
texture of the painting itself is smooth. The artist also uses both curvilinear and

The tree on the bottom right of the painting demonstrates modeling, which is the
contrast between light and shadow in a work. The shading on the left side of the
tree is darker than the right side of the tree. The tree s local color (true color) is a
light tan (bark of the tree) in comparison to its perceptual color (implied), which is
a darker gray/brown. The painting demonstrates diminution of scale, for the long
palm trees at the top of the composition appear smaller than the long palm trees
placed lower on the page. Not only does the artist use diminution of scale, but they
also use vertical location. The bushier palm trees n the back left side of the
composition all appear to be the same size, but because some are placed higher on
the page, they appear to be further away than the ones placed lower on the page.
The artist use of overlapping helps achieve perception of depth. By overlapping the
trees it makes it look like the painting has much more depth. Because of all of this,
the painting portrays deep depth, not only because of the multiple overlapping and
diminution of scale, but also because of the multiple horizon lines, causing the
painting to look like the road goes on over the hills. This painting is a narrative, and
its focal point is down the road. As the roads begin large and gets smaller, the eyes
follow the road until it ends. The artist uses both thick and thin lines in
40. The Rule Of The United States
In 1831, Chief Justice John Marshall of the United States Supreme Court wrote that
the relationship of the tribes to the United States resembles that of a ward to its
guardian . The Court determined that the framers of the Constitution did not really
consider the Indians as foreign nations but more as domestic dependent nation[s] and
consequently the CherokeeNation [as any other tribe] lacked the standing to sue as a
foreign nation. Justice Marshall also said; The court has bestowed its best attention
on this question, and, after mature deliberation, the majority is of the opinion that an
Indian tribe or nation within the United Statesis not a foreign state in the sense of the
constitution, and cannot maintain an action in the courts of the United States.
Marshall attempted to strike a balance between the powers of the federal government,
its relationship with Indian nations, and carefully measuring the sovereignty of the
Native Americans. But the Seminoles, like all other Indian nations remained
landlocked and unable to negotiate with foreign powers, but they could exercise their
own constitutional powers that conflicted with the United States Constitution.
Furthermore, in the Supreme Court case of Worcester v. Georgia (1832), the Court
set precedence by ruling that the Cherokee Nation was sovereign. The decision

41. Examples Of Perseverance In The Call Of The Wild
Improving and getting better in life needs a lot of perseverance. In The Call of the
Wild Buck was forced to improve on his life skills in the Yukon. He was beaten
and was urged to carry a sled. In contrast, my father had to improve his academic
skills in order to get accepted to optometry school after he was not accepted the first
time. While Buck and my father had differences in the experiences that they had to
preserve. Both of them had to go through tough times when they were disappointed in
themselves and others and had to change what they felt was normal. Both, humans
and animals have to get through tough times whether it is trying to go to college or
even something as normal as making it to the next day.

and loved and was forced to adapt to the real harsh ... Show more content on

After these eye opening experiences both my dad and Buck had to quickly adapt to
their ever changing surroundings. For this reason Buck had trouble getting a chance
to prove himself with the other dogs or his owners. Same as how my father
struggled to let the college he wanted to join notice him. Buck and my father went
through a time in their lives when they felt unwanted. Bucks experience came when
he was constantly being bought and sold in between many different Klondikers. He
was never truly hit with how useless he felt until he was sold to a group of people
that had no clue how they should do things in the Yukonterritory. My father had a
similar experience when he was rejected from the school that he wanted to go to
and they didn t tell him why. Buck regained purpose when he was saved by John
who Buck felt would really and truly love him. My dad felt needed again not only
after his family helped him get through it but also when he got accepted to optometry
42. Gothic Art History Summary
In the realm of archaeology, beginning in the fall of 2016, I have performed
research for Kacy Hollenback, PhD, at Southern Methodist University. Dr.
Hollenback is a Northern Plains Indian archaeologist who hired me to assist her
with a project analyzing soil samples taken from the floors of Hidatsa earth lodges
in North Dakota. Her goal in collecting these samples is to determine where within
each earth lodge household activities occurred. Based on the chemical content of
the soil cores, Dr. Hollenback hopes to deduce where the food was prepared, where
the residents slept, where the rituals were performed and where weapons were
sharpened, among other activities. She collected the samples from an earth lodge
along the Knife River in North Dakota. This earth lodge was in the same settlement
that was originally the historic Sakakawea s home. My involvement in this research
was the preparation of the samples for analysis. From September to December of
Fall 2016, I meticulously labeled the nearly two hundred samples, and dried each one
in the lab s drying oven. I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Danielle Joyner entitled, Fixing the Past: An Examination of Ancient Spolia
Incorporated iin the Medieval Eagle Vase and the Herrimann Ida Cross. This paper
was an exploration of Christian Medieval art pieces that incorporate pieces of
antiquity into their makeup. These newly contextualized ancient artifacts, called
spolia, can be found in Christian liturgical vessels such as the Eagle Vase and the
Herrimann Ida Cross, which incorporate an ancient porphyry vessel and the lapis
lazuli head of a Roman woman respectively. Working with Professor Joyner, I
explored the interaction of Medieval and Ancient, reading peer reviewed articles and
primary sources to draw parallels from the physical interactions of the objects with the
ideological interactions of the antiquated pagans and the Medieval
43. The Customs Union and Turkish Foreign Policy
The Customs Union and Turkish Foreign Policy
Economical developments in Turkey and the world keep moving in an
incredible speed. With the increasing world trade volume and gradually
intensifying rivalry, companies efforts for strengthening their market shares are
increasing day by day. Being able to keep alive in the middle of this rivalry
depends on being successful in the international platform. The industrialized
countries aiming to get out of this situation with the minimum loss have started
to give more significance to their economical security. It can be seen that
preventions such as goods and amount restriction has decreased and local
commercial and political integrations has become stronger during this current
globalization period. The locations of the countries vary constantly by either
participating to global organizations (World Trade Organization) or to regional
formations (Europe Union and The Customs Union). In this context, the
most significant economical and political consolidation that we face among
Europe countries is EU.
One of the basic foundations of partnership relationship between Turkey and
EU is The Customs Union. The Customs Union process was triggered by the
Protocol of Katma, which was signed between Turkey and European Economic
Community. With Katma Protocol s coming into force on 1 January 1973, Turkey
got the right of reaching industry goods of Community market without customs.
