Evan Hunter s Miraculous Journey
Evan Hunter s miraculous journey began on October 15th, 1926 in a humble Italian family s
kitchen, and under a much different name. Born Salvatore Albert Lombino, Evan Hunter showed
great talents in the art department from a young age. However, he was drafted into the Navy
during World War II, where he served for two years before coming back home. With a revived
passion for the arts, Evan graduated from Hunter College, marrying his first wife, Anita Melnik. To
support his wife and three children, Ted, Mark, and Richard, Evan played piano in a jazzband and
taught at several high schools for short periods of time. It was presumably working at a boring high
schoolthat inspired Evan to write his famous novel, The Blackboard Jungle, which follows

John s Quest For Identity In The Awakening
The plot takes place within the time span of twenty four hours, beginning with the protagonist,
John s awakening on his fourteenth birthday to his religious conversion that evening. The story
woven around a sensitive young boy, whose quest is for identity, begins on the morning of his
fourteenth birthday, when he realizes that he should do something different from what his father
expects him to do because he has been told that he should become a preacher when he grew up,
following his father s footstep. This is obvious from the very first line of the novel: Everyone had
always said that John would be a preacher when he grew up, just like his father. It had been said so
often that John, without ever thinking about it, had come to believe it... Show more content on

136). Gabriel makes it his mission to use his elevated status to preach redemption to the
wayward. He distresses that these sinners had all turned aside, and gone out in to the wilderness,
to fall down before idols of gold and silver, and wood and stone, false gods that could not heal
them (Baldwin, 136). Ironically, Gabriel responds to this by establishing himself as the
unassailable representation of righteousness, working in many ways to make a false god of
himself. This desire to serve as a savior influences Gabriel s preaching career and continues to
influence his personal life, even after the death of first wife Deborah. Gabriel s clearest
memories of Elizabeth recall how one night after he had preached, the young unwed mother had
walked this long aisle to the altar, to repent before God her sin (Baldwin, 149). After pursuing the
much younger woman, he proposes marriage, confessing to her that he believes they would be
fulfilling the mandate of the Lord. Continuing the image of himself as the rescuer of fallen
women, his proposal is thoroughly framed within the language of redemption. He suggests to
Elizabeth: maybe I can keep you from making ... some of my mistakes, bless the Lord...maybe I
can help keep your foot from stumbling ... again ... girl

The FTC is primarily concerned with sniffing out pyramid schemes, which are illegal multilevel
marketing plans in which the main way of earning money is by recruiting new sales representatives.
As the industry expands, it is restricted by FDA inspections and cosmetics compliance related to

Market History
The oldest direct seller of personal care products is Avon. It was originally known as the
California Perfume Company and was founded in 1886 by a New York book salesman named
David H. McConnell. As a door to door salesman of books, he offered bottles of perfume as a
free gift with each purchase. He soon realized that many of the housewives who purchased books
weren t really interested in the books at all, but rather in the free bottles of perfume. Consequently,
McConnell entered the fragrances and cosmetic business opening the first office in New York.
Soon thereafter, a door to door sales force was built and by the turn of the 20th century, the
company employed more than 10,000 representatives and supported their efforts with a growing
line of fragrances, cosmetics, and other beauty products developed in their very own research
laboratory and production facility.
The company began selling its products in Canada in 1914 and reached a sales milestone of 5
million units. By 1928, sales had grown to

CO2 Emissions And Mitigation Potential of Automotive Vehicles In Canada
Introduction
There is undeniable evidence that due to Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gasses the
Earth is warming up. Warming up the planet is causing climate changeand leading to extreme
weather situations. CO2 is the main greenhouse gas responsible for climate change and is being
produced at a rate that is higher than anything in recorded history [Nature 513.7517, 2014].
Reducing CO2 emissions produced by vehicles can lead to a drastic impact on the current state of
climate change.
Scope of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Greenhouse gas emissions are rising around the world at alarming rates and better action needs to
be taken to ensure a future that isn t filled with smog and life threatening pollution as seen in parts
of China.
Effects of Greenhouse Gases Greenhouses are controlled environments for plants to grow in
prime conditions. Greenhouses are designed to trap solar radiation to create a warmer
environment for the plants and allow the plants to grow where they normally would not. The
Earth has a natural greenhouse effect and is vital in supporting life. Greenhouse gases create a
sort of barrier to trap some radiated energy. However, the drastic production of greenhouse gases
increases this barrier and creates a warmer temperature for the planet [Nature 476.7358, 2011].
Destabilizing the greenhouse effect of the planet can lead to major consequences which has already
occurred such as:
Long droughts, California s water shortage, and
Major weather conditions, Hurricane Katrina.
The general warming of the planet will cause the bodies of water to expand and has the potential to
drown coastal areas if things are left untreated.
Relating to Canada
The public in Canada are used to traveling long distances relative to other parts of the world. Due to
this, reducing the impact of CO2 emissions by vehicles in Canada can have a significant impact on
the current climate change problem. A study in Surrey, British Columbia concluded that changing

The Reflection Of Working In An Enterprise Environment
Throughout the semester, I worked at Central Community School District 301 in the
information technology department and worked on many different projects. This experience
was very impactful because it taught things that classes have a hard time doing or and not able
to teach at all. Working in an enterprise environment took all the information that I have gained
from computer science classes and focused them into one point. Which is, to be able to work on
a team and to be able to create and understand enterprise level software. Most of my time at
CCUSD 301 included of me working on self hosted internal education tools for teacher and
student use, and creating and updating different automation task that made some manual time
consume task, very easy or non existence at all or working on self hosted learning programs for
teacher and student use. One of the first projects was for me to make a program that took a
picture from a camera renamed it to a normalized name convention and then move it to the
correct directory, so that a ID printing software could select the correct picture to print it on the
ID. When I first received this project I was thinking, this will be easy because it was just like I
did in CSCI 330, UNIX and Network Programming. The only problem was that it had to run on a
Windows server and not Linux. Pythonwas already installed on the server for another task, so my
manager said that I could use it or any other scripting language that I felt most comfortable with. I
chose Python because I did not know many other languages at the time and because I just started
taking CSCI 490K which was a classabout Python to solve different problems. After doing
research and getting assistant from other members of the team I was able to test and complete
the program. Throughout the semester, I came back to this script to refine it after learning new
concepts in class to make it more efficient and handle errors better. One of the next projects, also
one of the largest was for me to make a new script that interfaced with a Google for education
administrator console API in order to manage 8,000 Chromebooks. This was the first project that
was given a firm dead line for completion because there was around 4,000

Tony Robbins
The quality of your communication is the quality of your life Tony Robbins. How motivating. It
should be because Tony Robbins is a very famous and successful motivational speaker. This quote
couldn t be more true. Good communicators have a very successful life and in order to master
communication, one must understand communicationtheory. According to the text, Introducing
Communication Theory Analysis and Application, communication is defined as a social process in
which individuals employ symbols to establish and interpret meaning in their environment . There
are many different definitions of communication, but all communication definitions explain the
process of transmitting information, the framework of the information, and the effects of that
information. Understanding communication theory can be very rewarding and very beneficial to
people s personal and professional lives. It can help with public speaking, interviews, relationships,
and so much more. The world is always changing, which means communication is too. Taking a
communication theory class helps students make sense of the world around us, express our wants,
needs and desires to others in an appropriate manner. Employers are always looking for good
communicators to hire. Corporations are noticing how beneficial an effective communicator is for
their business. According to a survey in 2013 by the National Association of College and Employers

Analysis Of Detroit, The Motor City
Detroit, the motor city, known by many for cars and to others for being the murder capital of the
world. This has caused many people to stop visiting and exclude Detroit from being a place of
interest. I have lived here all my life, and yes it has had its rough times but lately Detroit has been
improving drastically. The causes of the city to improve were to make people already living here
feel safer. Moreover, to change our illustration as one of the most dangerous cities. In addition to
this we want people to start visiting again and to see the metamorphosis that has struck our city.
Many recent changes brought to our city have been architectural, criminal rates precipitating and
film making. The city as a whole has been working diligently to improve and keep improving.
Although we face economical issues, dealing with the bankruptcy has been priority to many. By
analyzing Detroitthese past few years there has been major change everywhere that has brought a
positive effect to our atmosphere. In recent years, Detroit has pulverized much of its violence
within the city. It has been working with state police and county sheriffs to ensure that people
who live here are safer. The city is slowly but surely revitalizing and becoming a place of interest
to many. Moreover personal experiences have made me see this. A few years back I would hardly
see any police cars patrolling neighborhoods but now I see many always patrolling in southwest
Detroit. This has had a positive effect

Mary Warren In The Crucible
In the Crucible there are a group of girls that go into the woods. They dance, chant, and some of
them even took there clothes off. They were caught by Reverend Parris. He wasn t sure on what
to think of it so he left it alone until that morning his daughter Betty was in bed sick. Parris and
some others began to investigate the girls, because they expected witchcraft. There are many
people in this tale that I could talk about, but the one I have chosen is Mary Warren. The reason
for this is because in my opinion she really helped bring the story to the conclusion that it did.
Whether she meant to, or not. She also had a change of heart in the play, more than once. So
now we shall indulge ourselves into the significance of this character and what role she truly
plays. Mary Warren is a young girl, 18 years of age. She lived as a servant to John and Elizabeth
Procter. She is one of the many girls that went into the woods to dance . After the girls were
caught they tried to take the attention of of themselves and put it on others. This caused a big
commotion, that in the end caused many people to lose their lives. The girls were saying that
people are witches in order to save there own lives. Marry being one of these girls was not
completely happy with what she was doing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

poppet to Elizabeth, Abigail took a needle and stabbed herself and accused Elizabeth of witchcraft.
What this had done, was that the men from the court came to the Proctors house looking for a
poppet which they found and found the needle in its stomach. Unknowingly Mary had put Mrs.

The Basic Internet and Its Security
What is the basic internet and how do you make it safe? Most people in the world have a
computer but do not know what makes a computer a computer. Most people do not even know what
device would qualify as a computer. The computer is an important part of the twenty first century.
The responsibility of computer users goes beyond internet access. The computer has basic internet
and security that is needed to be followed. The internet guarantees a source of internet access
nevertheless; a computers security is the most important part of being a computer owner or user.
A computer has basic information that must be understood. A computer is a device that can
manipulate information or data. Computers can be a laptop, a tablet, a mobile phone, a server, and
your everyday desktop computer. On a computer you can stream movies, create documents, browse
the web, or send emails. To do these things on a computer hardware and software is needed.
What is hardware and software? Hardware is the physical attributes that make up a computer.
Hardware can be found on the inside and on the outside of the computer. Hardware that is on the
inside of a computer could be the motherboard which is the backbone of the computer. Another
piece of Hardware that is on the inside of a computer is the hard drive. The hard drive is used to
store data in the computer. The Hard drive is the largest data storage device in the

The Role Of Terrorism And Terrorism
Terrorists have one goal: create national fear and chaos while harming not only citizens, but the
environment. First responders are responsible for more than the citizens or victims, they are
assigned to assist with prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery (Department of
Homeland Security, 2016). The five core capabilities ensure that the responders are prepared for
terrorist events. Understanding the threat is the first task is countering and responding to terrorist
events. Having an understanding of the situation, or possible situation at hand, responders may
have a higher possibility of countering the attack before it does any harm. Risks to first responders,
the response actions, and potential outcomes of terrorist incidents are all important topics when the
threat of a terrorist attack or events has struck the United States. Terrorismis the unlawful use of
weapons and intimidation to inflict violence among citizens. Recent examples of terrorist attacks in
the United States include the attacks on 11 September 2001, al Qaeda members hijacked four U.S.
airlines. Another example is the Boston Marathon bombing on 15 April 2015, killing three and
wounding almost three hundred. Unfortunately, the United States were unable to counter these
attacks or prevent them from happening because of the resources terrorists were able to use. The
amount of risk first responders deal with is overwhelming. They not only put their own lives at risk
but they also have the

How Does Faust Have An Effect On German Language
Classic words can influence those who read, and even those who write. For example, the iconic
play Faust. Written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in 1776, Faust is based off of an old
Germanic legend, but Goethe himself used his real life experiences to flesh out the titular character
in his book. As a result, Fausthas become a very culturally important and influential drama that has
had such an impact, it has even changed the German language. Von Goethe s drama, Faust, is a
drama with strong themes referring to man s dissatisfaction with the world, as the main conflict
involved a man selling his soul to a demon to achieve everything he could not attain himself.
To begin, Faust s characterization of the main character, is inspired by Wolfgang... Show more

The influence of the book has even been stated as little less than the bible (Carus). The bible has
shaped most of human existence, so for the books impact to be so important, it s influenced many
things. The German language for example, has many phrases, such as Des Pudels kern , which
translates to the core of the poodle . In the book, a poodle appears following Faust, and the poodle
eventually becomes Mephistopheles, a demon. It means the real nature of something within, which
alludes to that scene in Faust every time it is mentioned. It shows how truly impactful Faust to the
German language and lore. While Goethe s Faust may be very popular and important, the story he
wrote is not the ONLY interpretation. Several other authors have written books, symphonies, and
plethoras of forms of art based on the story behind Faust. The lore, originating around the 13th
century, the legend of Faust is about a man making a deal with the devil to receive otherworldly
powers to satisfy his humane needs. He is so dissatisfied with his knowledge, he wants more, and
this is very much like the interpretation Goethe wrote (Boyle). The story itself has spawned over
100 interpretations (Faust).
In conclusion, Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is a very famous drama not only because of
the brilliant writing. The author uses his own life to inspire the characters emotions, and in addition
to this, the famous tale behind it helped it gain

Synthesis Essay On Drinking And Driving
I am going to look at Drinking and Driving and Texting while Driving, in order to find out how
hazardous both are and how laws have been enforced, because it will address all drivers how
fatal drinking and distracted driving can be. Drinking and driving is an important issue for all
drivers across America. Driver s not only need to be aware of drunk drivers, but also need to be
able to detect a distractive driver. Getting behind a wheel while drunk or even texting can
change someone s life in a split second. Not only are the drivers life at stake, but they passengers
and other drivers at risk for their negligent driving. Laws have been enforced to for those who
drive while under the influence and those who use a cellular device, but it cannot always be
stopped. There are too many drivers on the road compared to law enforcement. Majority of
drivers do get distracted, they believe they can multi task, and they believe they are ok to get

consequences. Many drivers find it hard to resist responding to a text message and don t realize
how long their eyes are off the road. It is easy to get behind a wheel while intoxicated and it is
easy to text and drive. I think learning more about drinking while driving and becoming a
distracted driver is a great opportunity to share with drivers and open their minds. I hope to find

Essay On Loving Vs Virginia
Although there were no federal laws regarding interracial marriage at the time of the dispute,
each state had their own stance and set of laws. In fact, Virginia [was] one of 16 States which
prohibit[ed] and punish[ed] marriages on the basis of racial classifications, and this practice of
banning interracial marriages arose[d] as an incident to slavery and [had] been common in Virginia
since the colonial period (Loving v. Virginia). Also, after the ratification of the Racial Integrity Act
of 1924, which stated that no caucasian person could ever mix bloods with any other race such as
African American or Native America in Virginia, miscegenation
was outlawed in Virginia in to the
hopes to maintain pure white bloodlines (Loving v. Virginia; Wolfe). The local Virginia government
later stated that it was not a racist or unequal law since both members, both white and black or
native american, who participated in an interracial marriagewould be punished (Loving v. Virginia).
However, times were changing, and as the Civil Rights progressed, ideas of separate but equal
brought about by the case Plessy v. Ferguson were no longer current.
Mildred Jeter was an African American and Native American woman who grew up in Central

Preste, Ne, Chanoun Analysis
Throughout the Middle Ages travel is represented in many different forms and is seen in many
different groups, especially within the world of the Franciscan monks. Constantly on the move,
these mendicant friars faced many trials and tribulations throughout their journeys. The monks were
forced to be constantly on the move, never able to claim a home of their own and were under
constant ridicule from those around them, causing problems and riffs as they went. The poem,
Preste, Ne Monke, Ne Yit Chanoun , written in 1382, outlined the problems mendicants placed on
those around them and warned society of their evils and destructiveness. Preste, Ne Monke, Ne Yit

Summary Of Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets
The book I read was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, written by J.K. Rowling. The story
takes place at Hogwarts, a school of witchcraft and wizardry. Harry Potter is a student at
Hogwarts, and Ron and Hermione are his best friends. The main focus was a secret chamber
hidden in the school, that has been opened and was opened years before. There were attacks on
the students by a basilisk snake, which was put there by an evil wizard named Voldemort. Harry,
Ron, and Hermione kept searching for clues to find out how the attacks were happening until
they were lead right to the answer. Over all, the book was a good story and was very exciting
and creative. The story begins when Dobby, a small house elf, warns Harry about something bad
in Hogwarts. Something bad did happen. It was the chamber. It was being opened and attacks
were coming from it. Harry was trying to figure out who was planning the attacks, what was in
the chamber, and who opened it. Harry, Hermione, and Ron made assumptions about who
opened it before, and tried to figure out who it was by making potions, spying, and talking to
different people about it. They often met in the girls prefects bathroom to talk. Once when they
were in there making a potion to get ideas out of people, they came across a magical diary by a
person named Tom Riddle. Harry figured out how to work the magic diary and was told that his
friend Poole2 and the professor of magical creatures, Hagrid opened the chamber before, but the

The Day Of The Jackal By Fredrick Forsyth
Temporal setting within a novel is a factor that drastically draws a picture perfect image. Within
the novel The Day Of The Jackal by Fredrick Forsyth, a suspicious, yet optimistic, atmosphere is
expressed due to the terrific temporal setting from the cold war era and summer season. The cold
war era creates a world of suspicion and secrecy that ties directly to the plot, while the summer
setting gives the Jackal an opportune chance to complete his assassination plans. To begin, The
Day of The Jackal is set between 1962 1963; during the height of the cold warand high tensions
between countries and political leaders. With paranoia rampant, suspicion is everywhere. By
choosing this era as the setting, awareness of the occurring world events is already present. During
this time the hatred between political parties was strong. In the novel, France is referred to as
being turned into a ... loathing of politicians and communists which at the time, was not tolerable
(Forsyth, 29). The cold war era enhanced the story as it describes France in terms relevant to its
time: communism, being the horrid political plague that it was, rapidly infected the world. Secrecy
was also exponentially taking over. Furthermore, confidentiality was depicted in the novel when
conversation details became vastly vague, with such specimens being questioned and being told

can read. First, an inventor thought up and created this paper. Which was then typed on a computer
which itself went through years of development, blueprinting, designing, and many other
complicated processes. After hours of revision this paper was printed on a printer that was also
developed and designed to do its job efficiently. Things do not pop out of thin air, they take
development which can sometimes involve a long, tedious process. Just like the development of
this essay did not happen overnight nor come easy, technologydoes not either. Though chaotic, the
development and progress of technology is what propels our innovative society forward. When
new technology is first introduced an array of opinions from all perspectives come spewing out.
Right now this is being experienced with the release of the new iPhone 7. Apple has been noted
in the past for getting rid of specs to gadgets that aren t necessary to make way for new and
improved technology. Laptops have evolved on lacking the CD disk slot to make way for
slimmer, less bulky laptops and more room for better technology inside the hardware. This time
around, Apple is dropping the headphone jack in efforts to move towards a new, wireless era. As
product of this, Apple has also created new, wireless Air Buds which are

Analysis Of The Secret Of The Old Clock, By Carolyn Keeane
My entire childhood was surrounded with books. Weekly trips to the library were exciting
adventures, and books could always be expected as gifts during birthdays and holidays. My
personal collection continued to expand as I grew older, but it was nothing compared to the
massive amount of books that my parents had collected over the years; construction
manuals, coffee table books, novels, and reference books littered almost every room of the house.
Among the numerous volumes that consisted of my home library were fascinating books from my
mom s childhood, books with yellowing pages and weak spines that I couldn t wait until I was old
enough to finally read. Inhabiting a bookshelf in the basement, these books were full promise to
me. The prospect of unread adventures and mysteries within my own house made me... Show more

The relationships between the characters was a new phenomenon that I had never been
exposed to before. The fact that Nancy was acquainted to so many seemingly insignificant
people introduced me to different types of interactions between characters, and eventually
caused me to read closer as I realized that everyone that she met was a possible suspect. Also,
The Secret of the Old Clock exposed me to a descriptive writing style that I had never
experienced before. Adjectives such as animated and chic and verbs such as murmured and
mused were completely new to me and allowed for me visual what was occurring in the book in
ways previously unknown to me. The Secret of the Old Clock, written by Carolyn Keene was the
most influential book of my life. It introduced to me new literary concepts, including vivid
descriptions and intricate and complicated relationships that allowed for me to grow as a reader.
Additionally, it provided me with a positive role model in the character of Nancy, whose
independence, self reliance, and hard work inspired me throughout my

Describe How The Sociological Perspectives Explain Social...
Describe how the sociological perspectives explain social problems related to the family. The
family affords its members with a social uniqueness. Offspring are born into their parents social
class, culture and race, religious conviction, and so forth. Some kids have benefits throughout life
because of the social uniqueness they obtain from their parents, while others face many hindrances
because the social class or race/ethnicity into which they are born is at the bottom of the social
ladder. The conflict perspective accentuates that many of the problems we see in today s families
stem from financial inequality and from patriarchy. The problems that many families experience
echo the fact that they live in or near an impoverished... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many children will adjust to their parents divorce, but some will continue to have significant
problems into adulthood. Parents sensitivity to their child s needs is one of the most important
factors in facilitating adjustment. Other factors such as the child s age, gender and temperament
will also influence how well the child adjusts. Preschoolers tend to be emotionally needy, have
fears related to abandonment, and may display acting out behaviors following their parents
divorce or separation. Preschooler are likely to become very distressed during visit exchanges.
Boys and girls tend to react differently to their parents divorce. As a rule, girls tend to become
anxious and withdrawn, while boys tend to become more aggressive and disobedient. Girls from
divorced families may become sexually active earlier than girls from intact families. Interestingly,
boys often adjust better when their mothers remarry, while girls have more difficulty. Children of
divorced families tend to have long term adjustment difficulties when there is ongoing conflict
between their parents. Boys are likely to display marked behavior problems when this exists.
Children s adjustment is also determined by the amount of conflict the parents had before the
divorce. Researchers have found that children in divorced families, where there is little conflict
following the divorce, do not differ in adjustment than children from low conflict intact

Marx And Engels s Impact On Society
to a mere money relation, (Marx and Engels [1848] 2013:35]. Marx, saw the tear down of the old
as the only way for the bourgeoisie to survive. Periodically, a crisis occurred where productive
forces threatened their conditions and bourgeoisie would have to bring in new productive forces
and destroy the old. Marx believed that these changes to technology and productive capacity were
the main influence on how society and the economy were organized. The bourgeoisie had to push
for the modern world to quickly and continually develop to protect capitalists monopolies.
However, constant development caused continual disturbances of social conditions by breaking
down stable aspects of human life. Capitalist used their power to push the world to advance so that
they could prosper with no concerns to the possible effects on the economy, which would have
been most detrimental to the proletariat. For Marx, this showed that capitalists self interest pushed
economic progress, which led to societal progress but also risked crisis. Capitalismnot only affected
society through the creation and separation of social classes but also in influencing societal
progress and social relations.
The bourgeoisie created capitalism using revolutionarily activity but in doing so it also created the
proletarians who Marx believed could use revolution to bring an end to capitalism. The proletariats
were a class that depended on selling their labor to survive. Being just another commodity

Compare And Contrast The Truman And Carter Doctrine
Usually, the goal of foreign policy decisions is to address a troubled condition that is not only
affecting the country on a national level but also international level. Primarily foreign policy
decisions are used to protect the nation s interests by securing and maintaining relationships with
other countries. However, both the Truman and Carter doctrine did the opposite. Not only did both
doctrines neglect the civilians interests but the doctrines also failed to protect their civil rights and
liberties while disrupting the instability of foreign countries. Carter and Truman s foreign policies

opinions of the nation s interests.

Lying And Deception By William Shakespeare
Lying and deception have been present throughout all of human history. People lie about who
they are, what they think, etc. Over the centuries the reasons for lying have stayed the same.
When lying and deceiving people have always looked for some kind of reward, it can be money,
fame or simply to avoid conflict. However, the methods we use to liehave changed with the
creation of the internet. Even though, Shakespeare s time period had very different views on
lying that those today, his book, The Taming of the Shrews, was written to teach us that even
though lying is an integral part of ourselves, we must not use it to take advantage of others. Lying
and deception is used in The Taming of the Shrews as a way for the characters to get into romantic
relationships, and manipulate their partners. For instance, Lucentio is indicated by Tranio, his
servant, to pass off as the schoolmaster/ And undertake the teaching of the maid (1.1.197 198).
Lucentio decides that deceiving Bianca is his best chance at a romantic relationship with her.
Deception and changing one s identity is shown to be a method at obtaining women. Likewise,
many characters resort to lying as a way to control, or tame their partners. Petruchio lies to
Katherina about what is real and what is not as a way to confuse her and ultimately ends up
controlling her. Shakespeare portrays lying as more of a tool that is used to manipulate others,
rather than an action. Seeing as most of the male characters in the

Our country has outstanding organizations that protect and save endangered animals. It is
impossible to say exactly how many species have been lost in the past, but with our help they are
now safeguarded and multiplied thanks to the demanding work of numerous people. There are
humane societies that help homeless animals survive and find homes. There are even laws
currently that protect these domestic animals. All 50 states now have felony animal cruelty
provisions. In some cases you can receive a more severe punishment for hurting an animal than you
can a human. Even our health care for animals is better than health care for humans in some
countries abroad. There are veterinarians everywhere that can help every type of animal.
Although it can be awfully expensive, it is still an option that some do not have in other places.
Our treatment of animals in the US is admirable and displays how good natured our society can

How Different Features Of The Musculoskeletal System...
This essay will talk about how different features of the musculoskeletal system functioning in terms
of movement, support and load bearing, the factors which affect tensions in developed muscle and
different roles of muscle and their roles in movement. The first part to start with is to understand
what musculoskeletal system is and the function of it. The basic function of musculoskeletal
system is to support the human body, allow movement, support and protect organs, it also known as
the loco motor system. The system is formed by bones, cartilage, ligaments, muscles, tendons, joints
and other connective tissue that supports and binds tissues and organs together. The skeletal part of
the system works as storage system for calcium and phosphorus. It is essential for bones to regulate
mineral balance in the bloodstream, and then the variation of minerals is high, these minerals are
stored in bone; when it is low, minerals are withdrawn from the bone. The skeleton system has a
critical relationship with blood production (hematopoietic) system. The hematopoietic system
locates in long bones and there are two distinctions of bone marrow. The yellow marrow has fatty
connective tissue, the body uses the fat in yellow marrow for energy; the red marrow is important
for blood cell production. The bones also provide stability to the body; muscles keep bones in
place and also play a role in movement of the bones. When movement happens, different bones are

Modernization and Nationalism in South Korea
Is it possible to preserve traditional Korean culture as South Korea continues to modernize and

In the 21st century, modernity is often equated with capitalism industrialization, though the concept
is more complex than that. The idea of modernity can be defined on sociological, political and
cultural platforms. Modernity is a powerful notion, a departure from tradition; driven by political,
social and economic developments. It is the acceptance that progress is inevitable. Because this
departure from conventional, cultural practices is essential to the implementation of modernization,
many societies have struggled with breaking from tradition in an effort to modernize, to varying

An ethnically defined Korea continues to gives Koreans a stimulus to national pride, and feeds
hopes for the reunification of the Korean peninsula. The movement places emphasis on traditional
Korean customs. Advocates wants to ensure that the next generation continues to preserve plus pass
on these conventions. Korean ethnic nationalism reached its peak during the biggest threat to
Korean culture in the past century. Not modernization, but the Japanese occupation of the peninsula
from 1910 to 1945.
During the occupation, the Japanese enacted policies trying to stomp out Korean language and
culture, replacing it with Japanese language and culture. This includes censoring newspapers,
prohibitions on Korean language, distortion of Korean history, relocation of cultural artifacts to
Japan, Japanese centered education, altering public monuments and so on. In general, the
awareness of Korean history among Koreans declined substantially during this period; the new
generation grew up with little or no awareness of their own heritage. The Japanese altered Korean
history to justify their occupation of the peninsula to the international community by painting the
Koreans as backwards and in desperate need of modernization. This was possible in part because
Korea had sealed itself off from outside contact for centuries.
Resentment of the harsh treatment of Koreans eventually led to a revival of Korean nationalism,
including in depth research projects into the standardization

The Benefits Of Technology And Technology
The Benefits of technology
There are many examples of why technology is so beneficial to humans. The ability to know

Once the two are engaged, the two families exchange gifts, and the wedding ceremony takes
place at one of the family s houses, typically the groom s family. Once the marriage has been
official, the bride and groom will move to a new home. When death comes, the deceased is
preserved, dressed in white clothes, and put in a casket in a funeral home. In Vietnam, once the
funeral concludes, the casket is lifted to a certain cemetery for burial by a procession of close
relatives on foot, no matter the distance. (The procession sometimes blocks roads). The departed

Essay about Hamlet s Hesistation to Kill Claudius
How far do you agree that Hamlet s hesitation to kill Claudius in Act Three is underpinned by
religious reasons? Of all the different motives Shakespeare presents for Hamlet s lack of action,
which seems to be the most important?
Critics have attempted to explain Hamlet s delay in avenging his father for centuries and the most
relevant scene to illustrate Hamlet s hesitation is in Act Three when Hamlet has the opportunity to
kill Claudius but doesn t. Hamlet says at the time that he does

It could be said that Hamlet is deliberately delaying his revenge for fear of actually committing it.

Hamlet discusses Claudius reaction to the play with Horatio and says:
I ll take the ghost s word for a thousand pound.
In other words, he believes the ghost s accusation. This leaves Hamlet as being a coward or as a
fervent revenger without opportunity.
Another interesting thing that happens at this part of the play is that the Player King
unintentionally refers to Hamlet s inaction:
What to ourselves in passion we propose,
The passion ending, doth the purpose lose.
The Player seems to be saying that Hamlet only made his pledge to avenge his father on the spur of
the moment when he was blinded by passion and that now that immediacy of the ghost s accusation
has faded he lacks conviction.
Shakespeare sprinkles subtle lines alluding to Hamlet s apparent cowardice and failure as a
classical revenger. In addition to this, Shakespeare may intentionally delay Hamlet s revenge and
remove emphasis from his passion to break the trend of morally blind, obsessive, psychopathic
avengers as traditionally depicted in plays such as The Spanish Tragedy .
It is ironic that Hamlet doesn t kill the King whilst he is praying because before Hamlet enters
Claudius reveals in his soliloquy how useless he feels that his prayer of repentance is:
but O, what form of prayer
Can serve my turn? Forgive

brands in the analgesic market. Within the company, it was also a large income earner that
commanded nearly 15% of the company s total profits. That being the case, the 1982 crisis was
not only a big blow to the brand, but also to the company as a whole. The crisis jeopardized the
company s existence; putting at risk a multi million investment which the investors had a lot of
faith in. Irrespective of whether the crisis was due to malicious acts from ill motivated criminals or
not, the company had to act swiftly to counter the legal issues which were ensuing and mitigate
huge impending losses. It was really a trying moment for the top management of Johnson Johnson

The Power Of Russia
The Russian Federation has been one of the world s greatest Super Powers and it has been for
well over a century. However, is Russia still considered the once great powerful nation that it once
was? Although, prior to 2009, Russia was using weapons that were decades old, the superpower
continued to maintain one of the largest militaries in the world. Russias economy suffered a
dramatic hit due to a recession that it is slowly emerging from. The unwavering support of its
allies has gradually dwindled due to recent actions Russia s key leaders have taken; even so, there
have been some key improvements over the last few years that prove Russia may be moving
towards a brighter future. These few factors weigh into the debate and each... Show more content on

Therefore, until the equipment and weapon arsenal have reached a complete state of
improvement, the Russian military will continue to fall behind the rest of the World Super
Powers. The state of the Russian economy does not make the situation any better. Oil makes up
two thirds of the total exports from Russia, despite multiple discussions to diversify resource
reliance (David, 2017). The global financial crisis of 2009, coupled with falling oil prices,
international sanctions, and structural limitations pushed Russia into a deep recession in 2015,
with the GDP falling by close to 4%. (CIA World Factbook, 2017). The contracting economy
continues into 2016, with the GDP falling another 0.6%, expecting to fall by another 5% in 2017 if
oil continues below $40 per barrel. Without an immediate negotiation to either lift trade sanctions or
find an alternative resource dependence, the economic decline will continue. Trade sanctions
emplaced after the Crimea incident in 2014 were implemented by the European Union (EU) and the
United States to target the Russian financial, energy, and defense sectors (Lee, 2016). The
continued devaluation of the Russian ruble multiplied the effect of strain on the fledgling nation.
Currency values fell approximately 50% since the middle of 2014; in turn, making it more
expensive for Russia to import from other countries. The future of Russia s economy is uncertain.

Publicizing Information in Propaganda Techniques
Propaganda Techniques
Propaganda refers to any form of misleading information that meant to publicize a particular
product, a service or an event. It is applicable in many and varied situations for different reasons to
communicate to audiences. An unformed judgment would view propaganda as a technique
applicable only in politics for posing unfair competition (Gardner). However, the contemporary
business environment has recently advanced and perfected the use of propaganda in its numerous
forms. The major propaganda techniques include assertion, bandwagon, card stacking, glittering
generalities, lesser of two evils, name calling, pinpointing the enemy, plain folks, simplification,
transfer and testimonials (Conserva).
The current day advertising techniques is widely employ propaganda to gain an extra advantage in
popularizing products and edging out competitors. Testimonial technique is one of the widely
applied approaches to advertising of goods and services (Shabo). Testimonials are the endorsement
or quotations that connect highly popular or respected people with certain products or services.
Testimonials are a form of transfer technique that usually incorrectly connects a personality with a
product. The use of this propaganda technique usually attracts individuals into embracing the
advertised brand having made an incorrect judgment.
Propaganda is popularly used in consumer goods commercials by the way of associating famous
and highly reputed people in the society to

Hamlet vs. Laertes
Hamlet and Laertes are two people with almost all the same aspects in the Shakespeare s Hamlet.
They both want to avenge the death of their father s and they both love Ophelia. Hamlet s and
Laerte s similarities can be described in many ways but one can talk about the main ones: being the
love they have for Ophelia, the death of their father s and how they associate with their families.
Hamlet and Laertes share a different but deep love and concern for Ophelia. Before his leave to
France, Laertes provides lengthy advice to Ophelia pertaining to her relationship with Hamlet.

Do Studies Of Neurological Disorders Support The Claim...
Do studies of neurological disorders support the claim that specific language functions are
associated with distinct neural structures?
Student ID: 12926466 Studying language in terms of its localization of function has proven to be a
challenging task. Unlike other cognitive processes such as perception, attention and memory,
language research faces the constraint of studying merely human beings. Even though other types
of mammals and birds also develop some form of communication systems their complexity is not
even close to that of the human language. Facing these limitation, early researches that have
embarked on the task to clarify the neural mechanisms associated with language devised a study
field called Neurolinguistics. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This essay will focus on the extent to which studies of neurological disorders support the claim that
distinct neural structures underline specific language functions and look into some of the most
valued contributions made by scientists studying this field. Pierre Paul Broca was one of the
earliest and most influential physicians and anatomists of his time, who in the 1860s conducted
some of the first work on the effects of brain damage on behaviour (Harley, 2008). In 1861 Broca
worked as a surgeon in BicГЄtre general infirmary, where on 11th April, a 50 year old patient
called Leborgne was transported from the main hospital of BicГЄtre, suffering from diffuse
gangrenous inflammation of the entire right inferior limb (Broca, 1861). Leborgne was admitted to
the hospital at the age of twenty one being subject to epileptic attacks and exhibiting lack of ability
to say anything else except the word tan . During his stay in BicГЄtre it was determined that his
language comprehension and intelligence were intact. On the day of Leborgne s death on 17
April 1861, Broca performed an autopsy on his entire body. In his report Broca discussed in great
detail the state of his brain, where he discovered

Catch-22 and the Theme of Death
Catch 22 and the Theme of Death
There are many ways for a man to die, but there is no way to bring him back after he has entered
the world of dead. Catch 22 is a novel satirizing war, and because of this, it inevitably has a strong
underlying theme of death. But unlike many war novels, Catch 22 doesn t use violent depictions of
fighting or bloody death scenes to denounce the evils of war; it utilizes humor and irony to make an
arguably more effective point. And even more importantly, Catch 22 is ultimately a novel about
hope, not death. Although the inevitability of death is still a prominent motif, it eventually leads
the main character, Yossarian, to realize that the desire to live is important and also that he ... Show

Yossarian s most startling glimpse into the terrors of war and death comes when he spends a
night alone on the streets of Rome. He sees homeless children; he witnesses men beating
children and dogs, a rape, and a convulsing soldier; he walks over a street littered with broken
human teeth. This is one of the rare sections of the novel that does not use humor to point out the
cruelty and inhumanity of the world. The scene comes to a climax when Yossarian returns to
his apartment and discovers that Aarfy has raped an innocent maid and then thrown her out his
window, leaving her dead on the sidewalk below. Then, ironically, Yossarian is arrested for
being in Rome without a pass and Aarfy is given an apology for the disturbance, his hideous
crime going unpunished. This chapter is when Yossarian begins to really recognize the true face
of the military and the meaning of Catch 22; when he goes to the brothel and the old woman tells
him that the girls have all been kicked out of their home by soldiers, she explains to him that
Catch 22 says they have a right to do anything we can t stop them from doing (417;Ch.39). Catch
22 is the justification for every wrong the military commits, and it overrides every other moral law.
The horrors that the military creates will never stop, and Yossarian begins to realize that he cannot
fight and die

The Proposal Of The Dover Area School District
In cases having to do with constitutionality, the issue of the separation of church and state arises
with marked frequency. This battle, which has raged since the nation?s founding, touches the very
heart of the United States public, and pits two of the country s most important influences of public
opinion against one another. Although some material containing religious content has found its
way into many of the nation s public schools, its inclusion stems from its contextual and historical
importance, which is heavily supported by material evidence and documentation. It often results
from a teacher?s own decision, rather than from a decision handed down from above by a higher
power. The proposal of the Dover Area School District to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

If approved, the bill would require intelligent design to be taught alongside any evolutionary theory
in order to present an ?explanation of the origin of life that differs from Darwin?s view?.
Additionally, it would require a statement to be read that expresses doubts about Darwinist theories
(Baksa 1).
The Court is now confronted with the responsibility of determining if Dover?s proposition, and the
implications of its implementation are constitutional, or whether they would violate fundamental
personal freedoms. In order to make its decision, the court must contemplate many facets of the
issue, including: if the religious origins of intelligent design permeate the theory too strongly, if
teaching I.D. in schools would violate statutes regarding state funding for public schools, and even
if the theory provides sufficient factual scientific evidence to be taught as a scientific theory in a
school?s biology curriculum.
Case law supporting the absence of the instruction of intelligent design theory from secular, public
education cites several main grounds for exclusion, including the unconstitutionality of
?sponsorship, financial support, and active involvement of the sovereign in religious activity? [397
U.S. 664].
The 1987 case Edwards v. Aguillard requires any religiously related instruction to have ?a clear
secular purpose? [482 U.S. 578]. The legislation addressed in this case?the Creationism

Women Try To Manspread For A Week
Does Manspreading Only Attribute to Bad Manners or Several Factors?
Shingo Takatera
California State University, Northridge A personal space belongs to a person; therefore, we feel
uncomfortable when strangers invade our personal space or social distance. The behavior of
invading other s space becomes an issue, especially in a public transportation. The behavior is a
manspreading that is often practiced by male. According to Oxford Living Dictionaries,
manspreading refers to the practice whereby a man, especially one travelling on public transport,

Men who manspread in a limited space are criticized for invading other s space and their rudeness.
If women manspread, do they get the same criticism as men, or would women get other content of
criticism such as gender performance? In the video Women Try to Manspread for a Week ,
produced by BuzzFeed, the three women share their experience of manspreading for a week. On the
commentary, the woman with a hat and glasses shares her memory of her childhood about closing
her legs. She has the vivid memories that her mother often reminded her to close her legs. Her
mother s reminder of closing legs suggests the education of the gender performance, since even
though I am disciplined to be polite, I as a man have never been reminded to close my legs from
my parents. On the first day of the experiment, the woman with the hat and glasses feels she is
like a monster and wonders how men can manspread without being conscious. Since this
experiment is conducted with a will of manspreading and caring other s spaces, she might be more
self conscious, but if men are not conscious of manspreading as she says, what factors make her
more conscious of manspreading as a woman? One of the factor of being conscious of
manspreading might be attributed to the education she had from her mother during her girlhood
because the discipline of closing legs conflicts with the behavior of manspreading. On the day three
of manspreading, the same woman tells that she is not enjoying the experiment and feels
uncomfortable manspreading because she takes extra spaces in a train. None of the three women
did not get criticism for being masculine during the experiment, yet the closing legs discipline
suggests that manspreading opposes the gender performance of

Born Salvatore Albert Lombino, Evan Hunter showed great talents in the art department from a young age. However, he was drafted into the Navy during World War II, where he served for two years before coming back home. With a revived passion for the arts, Evan graduated from Hunter College, marrying his first wife, Anita Melnik. To support his wife and three children, Ted, Mark, and Richard, Evan played piano in a jazzband and taught at several high schools for short periods of time. John s Quest For Identity In The Awakening The plot takes place within the time span of twenty four hours, beginning with the protagonist, John s awakening on his fourteenth birthday to his religious conversion that evening. The story woven around a sensitive young boy, whose quest is for identity, begins on the morning of his fourteenth birthday, when he realizes that he should do something different from what his father expects him to do because he has been told that he should become a preacher when he grew up, following his father s footstep. This is obvious from the very first line of the novel: Everyone had always said that John would be a preacher when he grew up, just like his father. It had been said so often that John, without ever thinking about it, had come to believe it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 136). Gabriel makes it his mission to use his elevated status to preach redemption to the wayward. He distresses that these sinners had all turned aside, and gone out in to the wilderness, to fall down before idols of gold and silver, and wood and stone, false gods that could not heal them (Baldwin, 136). Ironically, Gabriel responds to this by establishing himself as the unassailable representation of righteousness, working in many ways to make a false god of himself. This desire to serve as a savior influences Gabriel s preaching career and continues to influence his personal life, even after the death of first wife Deborah. Gabriel s clearest memories of Elizabeth recall how one night after he had preached, the young unwed mother had walked this long aisle to the altar, to repent before God her sin (Baldwin, 149). After pursuing the much younger woman, he proposes marriage, confessing to her that he believes they would be fulfilling the mandate of the Lord. Continuing the image of himself as the rescuer of fallen women, his proposal is thoroughly framed within the language of redemption. He suggests to Elizabeth: maybe I can keep you from making ... some of my mistakes, bless the Lord...maybe I can help keep your foot from stumbling ... again ... girl ... It was originally known as the California Perfume Company and was founded in 1886 by a New York book salesman named David H. McConnell. As a door to door salesman of books, he offered bottles of perfume as a free gift with each purchase. He soon realized that many of the housewives who purchased books weren t really interested in the books at all, but rather in the free bottles of perfume. Consequently, McConnell entered the fragrances and cosmetic business opening the first office in New York. Soon thereafter, a door to door sales force was built and by the turn of the 20th century, the company employed more than 10,000 representatives and supported their efforts with a growing line of fragrances, cosmetics, and other beauty products developed in their very own research laboratory and production facility. Warming up the planet is causing climate changeand leading to extreme weather situations. CO2 is the main greenhouse gas responsible for climate change and is being produced at a rate that is higher than anything in recorded history [Nature 513.7517, 2014]. Greenhouse gas emissions are rising around the world at alarming rates and better action needs to be taken to ensure a future that isn t filled with smog and life threatening pollution as seen in parts of China. Effects of Greenhouse Gases Greenhouses are controlled environments for plants to grow in prime conditions. Greenhouses are designed to trap solar radiation to create a warmer environment for the plants and allow the plants to grow where they normally would not. The Earth has a natural greenhouse effect and is vital in supporting life. Greenhouse gases create a sort of barrier to trap some radiated energy. However, the drastic production of greenhouse gases increases this barrier and creates a warmer temperature for the planet [Nature 476.7358, 2011]. Destabilizing the greenhouse effect of the planet can lead to major consequences which has already occurred such as: Long droughts, California s water shortage, and Major weather conditions, Hurricane Katrina. The general warming of the planet will cause the bodies of water to expand and has the potential to drown coastal areas if things are left untreated. Relating to Canada The public in Canada are used to traveling long distances relative to other parts of the world. Due to this, reducing the impact of CO2 emissions by vehicles in Canada can have a significant impact on the current climate change problem. A study in Surrey, British Columbia concluded that changing the fuel source ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Reflection Of Working In An Enterprise Environment Throughout the semester, I worked at Central Community School District 301 in the information technology department and worked on many different projects. This experience was very impactful because it taught things that classes have a hard time doing or and not able to teach at all. Working in an enterprise environment took all the information that I have gained from computer science classes and focused them into one point. Which is, to be able to work on a team and to be able to create and understand enterprise level software. Most of my time at CCUSD 301 included of me working on self hosted internal education tools for teacher and student use, and creating and updating different automation task that made some manual time consume task, very easy or non existence at all or working on self hosted learning programs for teacher and student use. One of the first projects was for me to make a program that took a picture from a camera renamed it to a normalized name convention and then move it to the correct directory, so that a ID printing software could select the correct picture to print it on the ID. When I first received this project I was thinking, this will be easy because it was just like I did in CSCI 330, UNIX and Network Programming. The only problem was that it had to run on a Windows server and not Linux. Pythonwas already installed on the server for another task, so my manager said that I could use it or any other scripting language that I felt most comfortable with. I chose Python because I did not know many other languages at the time and because I just started taking CSCI 490K which was a classabout Python to solve different problems. After doing research and getting assistant from other members of the team I was able to test and complete the program. Throughout the semester, I came back to this script to refine it after learning new concepts in class to make it more efficient and handle errors better. One of the next projects, also one of the largest was for me to make a new script that interfaced with a Google for education administrator console API in order to manage 8,000 Chromebooks. This has caused many people to stop visiting and exclude Detroit from being a place of interest. They were caught by Reverend Parris. He wasn t sure on what to think of it so he left it alone until that morning his daughter Betty was in bed sick. Parris and some others began to investigate the girls, because they expected witchcraft. There are many people in this tale that I could talk about, but the one I have chosen is Mary Warren. The reason for this is because in my opinion she really helped bring the story to the conclusion that it did. Whether she meant to, or not. She also had a change of heart in the play, more than once. So now we shall indulge ourselves into the significance of this character and what role she truly plays. Mary Warren is a young girl, 18 years of age. She lived as a servant to John and Elizabeth Procter. She is one of the many girls that went into the woods to dance . After the girls were caught they tried to take the attention of of themselves and put it on others. This caused a big commotion, that in the end caused many people to lose their lives. Written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in 1776, Faust is based off of an old Germanic legend, but Goethe himself used his real life experiences to flesh out the titular character in his book. As a result, Fausthas become a very culturally important and influential drama that has had such an impact, it has even changed the German language. To begin, Faust s characterization of the main character, is inspired by Wolfgang... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The influence of the book has even been stated as little less than the bible (Carus). The bible has shaped most of human existence, so for the books impact to be so important, it s influenced many things. The German language for example, has many phrases, such as Des Pudels kern , which translates to the core of the poodle . In the book, a poodle appears following Faust, and the poodle eventually becomes Mephistopheles, a demon. It means the real nature of something within, which alludes to that scene in Faust every time it is mentioned. It shows how truly impactful Faust to the German language and lore. While Goethe s Faust may be very popular and important, the story he wrote is not the ONLY interpretation. Several other authors have written books, symphonies, and plethoras of forms of art based on the story behind Faust. The lore, originating around the 13th century, the legend of Faust is about a man making a deal with the devil to receive otherworldly powers to satisfy his humane needs. He is so dissatisfied with his knowledge, he wants more, and this is very much like the interpretation Goethe wrote (Boyle). The story itself has spawned over 100 interpretations (Faust). In conclusion, Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is a very famous drama not only because of the brilliant writing. • 19. Summary Of Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets The book I read was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, written by J.K. Rowling. The story takes place at Hogwarts, a school of witchcraft and wizardry. Harry Potter is a student at Hogwarts, and Ron and Hermione are his best friends. The main focus was a secret chamber hidden in the school, that has been opened and was opened years before. There were attacks on the students by a basilisk snake, which was put there by an evil wizard named Voldemort. Harry, Ron, and Hermione kept searching for clues to find out how the attacks were happening until they were lead right to the answer. Over all, the book was a good story and was very exciting and creative. The story begins when Dobby, a small house elf, warns Harry about something bad in Hogwarts. Something bad did happen. It was the chamber. It was being opened and attacks were coming from it. Harry was trying to figure out who was planning the attacks, what was in the chamber, and who opened it. Harry, Hermione, and Ron made assumptions about who opened it before, and tried to figure out who it was by making potions, spying, and talking to different people about it. They often met in the girls prefects bathroom to talk. Once when they were in there making a potion to get ideas out of people, they came across a magical diary by a person named Tom Riddle. Harry figured out how to work the magic diary and was told that his friend Poole2 and the professor of magical creatures, Hagrid opened the chamber before, but the diary ... • 20. The Day Of The Jackal By Fredrick Forsyth Temporal setting within a novel is a factor that drastically draws a picture perfect image. Within the novel The Day Of The Jackal by Fredrick Forsyth, a suspicious, yet optimistic, atmosphere is expressed due to the terrific temporal setting from the cold war era and summer season. The cold war era creates a world of suspicion and secrecy that ties directly to the plot, while the summer setting gives the Jackal an opportune chance to complete his assassination plans. To begin, The Day of The Jackal is set between 1962 1963; during the height of the cold warand high tensions between countries and political leaders. With paranoia rampant, suspicion is everywhere. By choosing this era as the setting, awareness of the occurring world events is already present. During this time the hatred between political parties was strong. In the novel, France is referred to as being turned into a ... loathing of politicians and communists which at the time, was not tolerable (Forsyth, 29). The cold war era enhanced the story as it describes France in terms relevant to its time: communism, being the horrid political plague that it was, rapidly infected the world. Furthermore, confidentiality was depicted in the novel when conversation details became vastly vague, with such specimens being questioned and being told [they] do not advertise their professions or whereabouts projecting a highly secretive tone to the novel that creates a ... • 21. How Technology Is What Propels Our Innovative Society Forward Moving with the Changes How did this paper fall into your hand? Speaking on a literal level, a lot of work happened for this paper to come into a material item that is now something anybody can read. First, an inventor thought up and created this paper. Which was then typed on a computer which itself went through years of development, blueprinting, designing, and many other complicated processes. After hours of revision this paper was printed on a printer that was also developed and designed to do its job efficiently. Things do not pop out of thin air, they take development which can sometimes involve a long, tedious process. Just like the development of this essay did not happen overnight nor come easy, technologydoes not either. Though chaotic, the development and progress of technology is what propels our innovative society forward. When new technology is first introduced an array of opinions from all perspectives come spewing out. Right now this is being experienced with the release of the new iPhone 7. Apple has been noted in the past for getting rid of specs to gadgets that aren t necessary to make way for new and improved technology. Laptops have evolved on lacking the CD disk slot to make way for slimmer, less bulky laptops and more room for better technology inside the hardware. The family affords its members with a social uniqueness. Offspring are born into their parents social class, culture and race, religious conviction, and so forth. Periodically, a crisis occurred where productive forces threatened their conditions and bourgeoisie would have to bring in new productive forces and destroy the old. Marx believed that these changes to technology and productive capacity were the main influence on how society and the economy were organized. The bourgeoisie had to push for the modern world to quickly and continually develop to protect capitalists monopolies. However, constant development caused continual disturbances of social conditions by breaking down stable aspects of human life. Capitalist used their power to push the world to advance so that they could prosper with no concerns to the possible effects on the economy, which would have been most detrimental to the proletariat. For Marx, this showed that capitalists self interest pushed economic progress, which led to societal progress but also risked crisis. People lie about who they are, what they think, etc. Over the centuries the reasons for lying have stayed the same. When lying and deceiving people have always looked for some kind of reward, it can be money, fame or simply to avoid conflict. However, the methods we use to liehave changed with the creation of the internet. Even though, Shakespeare s time period had very different views on lying that those today, his book, The Taming of the Shrews, was written to teach us that even though lying is an integral part of ourselves, we must not use it to take advantage of others. Lying and deception is used in The Taming of the Shrews as a way for the characters to get into romantic relationships, and manipulate their partners. For instance, Lucentio is indicated by Tranio, his servant, to pass off as the schoolmaster/ And undertake the teaching of the maid (1.1.197 198). Lucentio decides that deceiving Bianca is his best chance at a romantic relationship with her. Deception and changing one s identity is shown to be a method at obtaining women. Likewise, many characters resort to lying as a way to control, or tame their partners. Petruchio lies to Katherina about what is real and what is not as a way to confuse her and ultimately ends up controlling her. The first part to start with is to understand what musculoskeletal system is and the function of it. The basic function of musculoskeletal system is to support the human body, allow movement, support and protect organs, it also known as the loco motor system. This leaves Hamlet as being a coward or as a fervent revenger without opportunity. Another interesting thing that happens at this part of the play is that the Player King unintentionally refers to Hamlet s inaction: What to ourselves in passion we propose, The passion ending, doth the purpose lose. The Player seems to be saying that Hamlet only made his pledge to avenge his father on the spur of the moment when he was blinded by passion and that now that immediacy of the ghost s accusation has faded he lacks conviction. Shakespeare sprinkles subtle lines alluding to Hamlet s apparent cowardice and failure as a classical revenger. In addition to this, Shakespeare may intentionally delay Hamlet s revenge and remove emphasis from his passion to break the trend of morally blind, obsessive, psychopathic avengers as traditionally depicted in plays such as The Spanish Tragedy . Therefore, until the equipment and weapon arsenal have reached a complete state of improvement, the Russian military will continue to fall behind the rest of the World Super Powers. The state of the Russian economy does not make the situation any better. Oil makes up two thirds of the total exports from Russia, despite multiple discussions to diversify resource reliance (David, 2017). The global financial crisis of 2009, coupled with falling oil prices, international sanctions, and structural limitations pushed Russia into a deep recession in 2015, with the GDP falling by close to 4%. Without an immediate negotiation to either lift trade sanctions or find an alternative resource dependence, the economic decline will continue. Trade sanctions emplaced after the Crimea incident in 2014 were implemented by the European Union (EU) and the United States to target the Russian financial, energy, and defense sectors (Lee, 2016). The continued devaluation of the Russian ruble multiplied the effect of strain on the fledgling nation. Catch 22 is a novel satirizing war, and because of this, it inevitably has a strong underlying theme of death. But unlike many war novels, Catch 22 doesn t use violent depictions of fighting or bloody death scenes to denounce the evils of war; it utilizes humor and irony to make an arguably more effective point. And even more importantly, Catch 22 is ultimately a novel about hope, not death. He sees homeless children; he witnesses men beating children and dogs, a rape, and a convulsing soldier; he walks over a street littered with broken human teeth. This is one of the rare sections of the novel that does not use humor to point out the cruelty and inhumanity of the world. The scene comes to a climax when Yossarian returns to his apartment and discovers that Aarfy has raped an innocent maid and then thrown her out his window, leaving her dead on the sidewalk below. Then, ironically, Yossarian is arrested for being in Rome without a pass and Aarfy is given an apology for the disturbance, his hideous crime going unpunished. This chapter is when Yossarian begins to really recognize the true face of the military and the meaning of Catch 22; when he goes to the brothel and the old woman tells him that the girls have all been kicked out of their home by soldiers, she explains to him that Catch 22 says they have a right to do anything we can t stop them from doing (417;Ch.39).
