Banksy s Nola Girl With Umbrella
Nola Girl with Umbrella also known as Rain Girl or Nola Girl was created by Banksy in 2008 as a
form of street art. Banksy is a graffiti artist from England. His work focuses on political issues, and
dark humor. Banksy is also a political activist and film director. He has given graffiti a new name. His
work is no longer considered vandalism; It is well sought out art which is marketed for a high price.
Banksy s identity still remains unknown even though there are some contenders for whom we assume
he is. Banksy s Nola Girl first appeared in New Orleans, Louisiana on a grey wall. This specific form
or style of street art is referred to as stencil art which Banksy is well known for. A stencil is used in
order to create the same image several times. A stencil is usually a thin sheet of material used to create
the design underneath the surface in which it is being placed, depicting an image.
This piece is dominated by a young girl in a black dress. She is standing with her hand held out from
underneath a black umbrella in which she seeks shelter from. Her hair looks heavy and stringy, it
contains no volume. Upon further analyzing, you are able to notice that the umbrella ... Show more

The meaning behind this piece was to show how things we often seek protection and comfort from can
often hurt us. He portrayed this message by displaying rain pouring from beneath an umbrella; an item
in which its purpose is to protect us from rain, or keep us dry. Banksy came up with Nola Girl a couple
years after hurricane Katrina passed by; which destroyed the city of New Orleans. The word Nola
refers to New Orleans Louisiana; even though in New Orleans Nola is perceived as the sad truth and
dark reality of the events that befell the city. Hurricane Katrina was devastating; it left scars on the
lives of many people. Nola Girl was created as a reminder of that suffering which still lives
throughout the city

Why A Toilet Bubbles When Flushed
There are a lot of problems that a home owner might experience over the course of homeownership.
One of the most perplexing and demanding issues is home maintenance. Of course, the owner would
like to keep their home in top condition. However, things happen. Certainly, the bathroom is one room
that has a lot of issues. Owner s face things like bad pipes, leaky faucets, leaking toilets. One issue that
seems to pop up all the time is a toilet bubbles when flushed. Certainly, it is extremely difficult to

The Industrial Revolution Essay
The Industrial Revolution
Going to work for a full day isn t much fun after working fifteen hours the day before! 60 70 hour
work days are never pleasant in anybody s mind. How is it that so many people did this during the
Industrial Revolution? Was it because they wanted the extra money? Or was it because they wanted
the high political or economic status? For some people these were the reasons, but for most it was
because of one concern. Survival! The Industrial Revolution greatly changed the workplace and the
proletarians.
The Factory system was changed forever by the name of one man, Richard Arkwright. Even though
Arkwright was not a great inventor, he used other peoples ideas to advocate his own ambitions to the

Mathew Boulton would use the invention as a pumping device for water. This would greatly change
factory development and the people who worked their. The Steam Engine could be the most
significant invention of the Industrial Revolution (Mantoux 230 250). The Spinning Jenny and the
Steam Engine were the key inventions that created the Industrial Revolution.
In the beginning of the nineteenth century factory working conditions were bad. Diseases that
occurred in the occupation were at a high risk also with, accidents and harsh discipline. These were
the physical affects of the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, but with them were issues with
social class consisting of moral degradation, and female competition for male jobs. Also from the
factory style of life abortion was quite high and infant and child deaths were at the highest rate ever
recorded. (King Timmins 55)
Most 19th century factories were grim brutal places, and working conditions were harsh. The normal
factory worker contained a shift of 14 to15 hours. This is not to add that it might take the workers two
hours to walk there and back. Working conditions were so bad that it caused diseases. For

Margot s Intentional Killing in Hemingway s The Short...
Ernest Hemingway is known for writing novels and short stories with unresolved endings. In his short
story, ?The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber?, he definitely leaves his readers guessing. The
question is whether Margot kills her husband,
Francis, intentionally, or if she accidentally shoots him, because she tries to save his life. There are
many points that could be argued for both conclusions, but my observations have led me to believe
that Margot did indeed shoot her husband intentionally, however, without pre meditation.
Margot has one of the most obvious motivations to kill her husband: money. In addition, she, on the
other hand, has one great asset, her beauty, ?They had a sound basis of union. Margot was too
beautiful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Francis reveals his lack of self confidence and control over the situation. ?If he had been better with
women she would probably have started to worry about him getting another new, beautiful wife but
she knew too much about him to worry? (Hemingway). His lack of self confidence has given her all
the power in the relationship and it was a major contributing factor in her infidelity. Later on in the
story, the growth of Francis?s confidence during the buffalo hunt and Margot?s displeasure with it is
the final clue in determination of the death of Francis Macomber. The buffalo hunt gives Francis a
new found sense of ?happiness?. This ?new wealth? of confidence is powerful for Francis and
devastating for Margot . ?Fear gone like an operation. Something else grew in its place. Main thing a
man had. Made him into man. Women knew it too. No bloody fear? (Hemingway). Margot knew at
this point that if Francis survives the trip, he might possess enough personal strength and finally leave
her, and that is what encourages her decision to kill him. At the end of the story Wilson confirms the
reader?s suspicion when he reacts to the shooting by saying to Margot, ?That was a pretty thing to do?
(Hemindway). That statement reinforces the belief that Margot was indeed taking advantage of the
opportunity to ensure her long term wealth and eliminate the possibility of being

Essay Fallacies in the Movie High Noon
HIGH NOON FALLACIES
High Noon, a western film mostly respected by conservative viewers, and endlessly ranked over by
critics. This was an exciting movie considering it was a black and white film. The whole movie was
about the loyalty of a town marshal named Kane and the betrayal of the town. After watching High
Noon, there were a lot of fallacies that were depicted through out the movie such as begging the
question, ad hominem, slippery slope, and Inconsistency. The characters in the movie do a great job at
portraying each of these fallacies. At the beginning of the movie, as Kane and Amy are riding away
for their honeymoon, Kane stops the prairie and claims that he has to go back and states this is crazy .
When Amy questions Kane ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following the scene, when Kane asks for volunteer deputies, one of the Individual s gets up and says,
Ain t it true, that Kane no longer a marshal and isn t it true there is personal trouble between him and
Miller? This is another great example of Ad Hominem because once again another individual is
attacking Kane s character rather than tackling the issue that Kane is making in the scene. The
Individual s argument is rejected on the basis of irrelevant fact about Kane. In a key scene, where
characters in the church debate the pros and cons of helping the marshal, the case is finally made
against Kane by the Mayor with the economic rationalist argument that a gunfight in the streets would
be bad for business and the North wont send money for stores and factories. I believe this scene is a
good example of a slippery slope fallacy because the mayor is using fear of gunfire in streets to
support his idea of North not sending money for stores and factories. The Mayor is not using a good
argument/ reason to support his idea. There is no evidence provided that north won t send money
because of gunfire between Kane and Miller. Towards the end of the film, inconsistency in characters
seems to develop. In the scene, where herb shows up at the jail house ready to fight along side Kane
changes his mind after he finds out that it will be just him and Kane fighting against Miller and his
posse. Herb states, it isn t that I don t want out...I volunteered but this is not what you

Kevin Prince Research Paper
Autobiography of Kevin Prince
Sometimes, I come home after school and stare at a framed picture on my wall of Taj Mahal to remind
me of where I was born, India. I spent the first seven years of my life there. Then my family moved to
Edmonton, Canada, searching for jobs because my dad s business profit back home was decreasing
immensely. English was very different from my first language, Malayalam, but I was taught the
alphabet and its pronunciations at school in India, therefore it was not incredibly difficult for me to

Tattoos And Consumer Culture
In recent days, the consumption of tattoos may be considered contradictory in its ability to make
someone be different and its potential symbolism of various subcultures allowing the consumer to fit
in. While many cultures around the world started using tattoos as a way to mark status, spiritual
devotion, bravery and protection, Western society began using tattoos as a symbol of criminality and
deviance. This perception of degeneracy has been argued to derive from European middle class ideas
of evolutionary superiority of their civilised society versus other savage ones (1993, p. 10). With the
rise of the rock star in the seventies, many subcultures began to use tattooing to defy the dominant
ideology of an ink free body being society s attractive norm (Kosut 2013, p. 143; Sternberg, 2017 a).
In recent years, popular culture and incorporation altered mainstream perceptions of tattoos and
challenged the traditional ideologies connecting tattoos and deviance (Kjeldgaard Bengtsson 2005, p.
172). By exploring the development of tattoos in consumer culture, this essay examines the
contrasting beliefs regarding whether consumption practices are sites of resistance to the dominant
order or sites of conformity.
The history and social significance of tattoos is very complex, as stated by Karacaoglan (2012):
Although the practice of tattooing has been in existence for millennia, tattoos have acquired renewed
and widespread currency in contemporary Western culture. Tattooing

In the book when the emperor was divine, the motif of horses reflect the thematic idea of freedom. In
the book the Japanese Americans have been interned which means their freedom have been taken

Americans were placed in internment camps. The little boy in the book long to be free, just like the

horses just roaming around, wild . This quote shows how free the horses really are and this is why
they symbolize freedom.

Coagulation and Flocculation in Water and Wastewater...
The treatment of surface wastewater is aimed at bringing contaminated water back to its previous state
for domestic use or otherwise. Some of the sources of wastewater include industrial effluents from
manufactures, agricultural effluents, agro industrial as well as domestic wastewater from sinks,
bathtubs, toilets, and so on. Particles in the water from the various sources include bacteria, organic
matters, and sand which cause the water to be turbid or discoloured in appearance and have an
unpleasant odour.
As a result, the removal of the dissolved or suspended components from all these sources is critical in
wastewater treatment. This vital process includes coagulation and flocculation (both processes work in
tandem). In these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coagulation
Coagulation involves the addition of an electrolyte agent that is positively charged. This is added to
contaminated water to destabilize the colloidal suspension by combining with them to neutralize their
charges. Consequently, this prevents them from repelling each other. These neutral charged particles
are called pinflocs or microflocs and are now able to undergo flocculation for settling.
The most commonly used coagulants may be salts of aluminium based or iron based. Aluminium
based coagulants consist of sodium aluminate, poly aluminium chloride (PAC) and aluminium
sulphate (alum). Iron coagulants are mainly ferric chloride, ferric chloride sulphate, ferrous sulfate and
ferric sulphate; also magnesium carbonate and hydrated sodium carbonate (lime) are used.
When these metal coagulants are added to water they rapidly undergo hydrolysis producing
hydrolyzed complexes that are multi charged (example: bivalent 3+ charge). This gives the aluminium
and iron coagulants superior adsorption properties (causing the molecules to stick together). The
dissociation of two coagulants; Alum (aluminium sulphate and Ferrous sulphate) when in water can be
seen below.
Alum
Ferrous Sulphate
From the reactions above, the hydroxide ions (OH ) that will be generated from the compounds will
cause a change in pH of the water to becoming more basic. This then causes the Al(OH)3, Fe(OH)2 or
Fe(OH)3 to form an insoluble precipitate along with

Comparing Love in Go Tell It on the Mountain, Giovanni s...
Baldwin s first three novels Go Tell It on the Mountain, Giovanni s Room, and Another Country boil
over with anger, prejudice, and hatred, yet the primary force his characters must contend with is love.
Not meek or mawkish but ...something active, more like fire, like the wind (qtd. in O Neale 126),
Baldwin s notion of love can conquer the horrors of society and pave the way to emotional security
(Kinnamon 5). His recipe calls for a determined identity, a confrontation with and acceptance of
reality, and finally, an open, committed relationship. Though Baldwin s characters desperately need
love, they fail to meet these individual requirements, and the seeds of love they sow never take root
and grow to fruition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Baldwin points to his high school writing as an act of love. It was an attempt not to get the world s
attention it was an attempt to be loved. It seemed a way to save myself and a way to save my family. It
came out of despair (qtd. in Kinnamon 3). Baldwin believes in the redemptive power of love, the
power to save. But first must come despair. All of Baldwin s characters suffer tremendously, for they
live in modern society. Few love. Since suffering is universal but a love fulfilled is not, suffering alone
does not allow one to love, ...but if dealt with courageously...can lead to self knowledge, self
acceptance, and the forging of a genuine self identity (Nelson 122). With no internal conflicts, one can
open up to another person, and love can flower.
This process, however, is rarely completed. In Another Country a vivid portrait of the universal need
for love is suggested by Rufus s interpretation of a saxophonist s improvisation. Rufus plays in a jazz
combo with a young saxophonist who already ...had received the blow from which he never would
recover (9):
...[S]omewhere along the line he had discovered that he could say it with a saxophone. He had a lot to
say. He stood there, wide legged, humping the air, filling his barrel chest, shivering in the rags of his
twenty odd years, and screaming through the horn Do you love me? Do you

Games Design As Narrative Architecture By Henry Jenkins
Narrative research
Introduction
Games and story, which on opposite sides of the interactivity. After reading a paper named Games
Design as Narrative Architecture by Henry Jenkins, I think controlling the balance of gameplay and
storytelling is important to game designers if they want to design a game with narrative. For this essay
I will be analysing two completely different examples, focusing on their narrative and gameplay in
order to explain this issue. In addition to this, I will also provide some games I have played and
combine the theories in this paper and other books to analyse their different ways to create immersive
narrative experience in the game.
What is narrative? Confliction of narrative and gameplay

Storytelling is one of the most important forms of play indeed (Crawford, 2013), however not every
player would like to read story in games, they enjoy the process of achieving goal, too much narrative
even can be experienced as an unwelcome interruption (Jenkins, 2004). In order to avoid this
situation, game designer should using environmental storytelling in various ways to build a game
space which full of narrative. So players can enjoy the game itself and narrative in same time.
Here is an example, which is not positive but can demonstrate the importance of keeping balance of
game and narrative. Ensemble Star is a Japanese smartphone game, which I have played for one year.
Its narrative is completely attractive and impressed, however, its experience of gameplay is very
inconspicuous. Players only need to read stories, spend money to get cards and collect items to
strengthen their cards. Players can make some choices, but their choices cannot cause serious
consequences to the overall stories. So strictly speaking, I think it is not a game but a novel with
interactive function. Yet, its Chinese version add some game mechanics and blend into game story,
which makes this interactive novel more like a game. For example, every character have their back
stories. In Japanese version, players only can tap stories button to read. But in Chinese

Ways Of Seeing John Berger
Throughout the history of art, the meaning of images and the fashion in which themes are depicted
have shifted throughout the history of art. In the book Ways of Seeing, John Berger outlines the
reasons behind these changes in the consumption of art and explains why art has become what it is
today. However, within his explanation he misses one of the most important contributors to this
evolution: the cultural changes that have occurred since the creation of the painting. He does mention
these differences, but only uses the concept of changing social norms to strengthen his argument about
the mystification of art. This is an oversight. A cultural shift changes how people perceive of the
world, and thus, changes how ideas are depicted in art. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These works were the exact opposite of his earlier works, which were of a larger scale, utilized color,
and were meant for a client. Instead, The Disasters of War were prints, made for easy disbursement on
small pieces of paper (Figure 2). This sudden shift in artistic style can be attributed to several changes
in the artist s personal life and the political atmosphere surrounding him. During the time period in
which these prints were made, between the years of 1810 1812, Napoleon had invaded Spain, and
brought with him war and destruction ( Goya Prado Tour ). With the warfare came the actual practice
of Enlightenment ideals. Most of these ideas had been known in Spain prior to this point and were
supported by the middle class, but they had been under the rule of an absolute monarch ( Goya Prado
Tour ). Therefore, the appearance with these ideas alongside bloody war must have been startling and
unsettling. Goya, who was in agreement with the ideas of the French Revolution, stayed in Spain after
the expulsion of the monarchs ( Goya Prado Tour ). However, it can be seen that the blood and
violence that followed with these changes bothered him. Before the French invaded, all of the
Enlightenment ideals of the French Revolution were intangible thoughts that Spaniards had spoken of
in theory, not actually experienced. With the experience of these Enlightenment ideas came war,
tainting the way that these philosophies

Isaac Newton. One of the major flaws with the Copernican system manifested with the retainment of
perfect circular orbits, as theorized by Ptolemy, and even with the removal of the equant, Copernicus
still had to use some epicycles to explain retrograde. This still left many issues, because this very
unnatural movement didn t make it that much less clunky than Ptolemy s system. Johannes Kepler,
with his first law of planetary motion, provided a solution for this issue. He theorized that planets
actually move in an elliptic orbit, with the sun not necessarily at the very center of the ellipse. When
taken in account with Copernicus idea of the Earth s rotation, this got rid of the need for epicycles, and
provided a much smoother system. In addition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, the heliocentric system driven by Copernicus disproved the ideas of two, powerful, and at the
time, most valid sources, the Ancient world and the Catholic Church. This opened up questioning and
curiosity of many other aspects of humanity in the centuries that followed, and in parallel to this the
rejection of the theological idea that man has dominance in the universe (SECOND GALE SOURCE).
This curiosity led to so many great discoveries across the course of the entire revolution, from
chemistry, to calculus, and even biology. Even though heliocentrism occurred as an astronomical
endeavor, it by itself influenced the development so many ideas not just used in astronomy. Newton s
laws of physics would never have been possible if not for the heliocentric system to back it up, and in
fact, nearly all of Kepler s, Newton s, and Galileo s work described above built on Copernicus ideas. It
can also be said that the development of heliocentrism gave rise to modern scientific method. The
mathematical and rigorous approaches to proof all used by Newton, Galileo, and Copernicus set a bar
of quality differed greatly from the very assumptive and proofless explanations for many phenomena,
many set by the Church or the Bible. The idea of developing an idea slowly, over the course of many
people s lives, while using mathematical proofs is essentially the process that occurs today when

An Effective Technique For An Organization
Changes affect every person in a business, including the managers and the employees. Managing
modifications in a business can be difficult and countless people within an organization can be
resistant for various reasons. Participation is considered an effective technique for reducing resistance
to change, other techniques includes education and communication, facilitation and support, and
negotiation.
Change in a business can be uncomfortable since it requires surrendering a certain way of thinking
and performing processes and implementing a novel way to accomplish a business goal. Encouraging
employees to participate in the alteration can be one of the utmost ways to reduce the resistance to
change. An employee who participates in the process of the conversion is further likely to embrace the
change. Therefore, one way is to encompass groups that will be affected by innovative procedures in
the development of fresh ideas. In other words, ask workers for their opinions and suggestions and
integrate their solutions. If people are given the opportunity to seize responsibility for specific parts of
a program their sense of ownership will craft stronger advocates. Also valuable input can be gained
from employees who really perform the day to day work as management may not have the
information needed to change the design. Before making slight adjustments anyone who will be
affected or who opposes the transformation should be brought into the decision making process,

The Sun Is A Star
The Sun is a star that is located at the centre of our solar system composed primarily of hydrogen and
helium with smaller quantities of oxygen, carbon, neon, and iron. The sun keeps our planets in orbit
due to its large gravitational forces and provides our planet with heat. There are many different ways
in which stars can be classified, and The Sun is listed as a G type Main Sequence star and is also
known as a yellow dwarf. It is currently in a phase called the main sequence in which 4 hydrogen
atoms are fused together to form 1 helium atom as well as energy (4.3x10 12 joules worth). Our sun is
approximately half way through its main sequence phase, and in approximately 5 billion years it will
enter it s post main sequence.
Once all of the hydrogen in the core of the sun is depleted, the sun begins its post main sequence by
ascending the red giant branch, starting with a phenomenon known as shell burning. Once the
hydrogen core is depleted, outward radiation pressure stops and inward gravitational attraction causes
the helium core to contract, converting gravitational potential energy into thermal energy
(http://www.atnf.csiro.au/outreach/education/senior/astrophysics/stellarevolution_postmain.html).
This thermal energy causes an increase in temperature which heats up the hydrogen shell surrounding
its core, and once a certain temperature is reached, hydrogen fusion occurs which produces more
energy than when it was on the main sequence. Due to this increase in

information to support the use of logic. Next was pathos, which appeals to the emotions or what
people are feeling. It connects with the audience by showing or interpreting something the audience
relates to or shows interest in. Lastly, ethos is to what extent the audience trusts an author by relying
on their word and reputation. The author s credentials support what they are trying to convey or the
message they are trying to send to the audience about an ad or announcement.
Historical Context
Created, manufactured, and sold as a unique flavor, Dr. Pepper is the oldest in soft drinks in American
history. Charles Alderton, the creator of Dr. Pepper in 1885, was a pharmacist at Morrison s Old
Corner Drug Store, in the small town of Waco, Texas, where he was in charge of giving medication to
the people in Waco. In his free time, he liked to work at the soda fountain where he would serve
carbonated drinks.
His greatest invention came from the idea of the smell of the different kind of fruit syrups, and the
smell of the drug store he worked in. After giving a sample test of his new drink to the owner of the
drug store, and him liking the taste of it, Alderton gave his invention a greater opportunity to expand
by offering it at the soda fountain. His creation of this soft drink was exceptional, like no other drink,
making other soda fountain operators

The Rolling Stones And The Stones
The Rolling Stones Stones, a simple concretion of earthy or mineral matter, a rock, a building block, it
may be precious, or it may be garbage. The Rolling Stones are very similar to a pack a stones, a pack
of random men to play music. They first started as a small measly band that soon grew into an
international sensation. The Stones created some of the most widely known tunes and they also
created one of the most iconic styles of music, rock and roll. The Rolling Stones were defined by the
very famous founding trio, The Stones themselves, their extraordinary style and their gruesome
political troubles. Even with some hardships and struggles their success was quickly awarded with
countless music rewards.
The Creation of the Rolling Stones The group named The Rolling Stones took a very long time to
form and it all started with the founding trio. The Rolling Stones were a rock band formed by the
famous trio of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Brian Jones. Together they recruited musicians to
their rock and roll group. The Rolling Stones Biography states that, The Rolling Stones origins date
back to the boyhood friendship of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, formed in 1957. In October 1960
Richards and Jagger ran into each other. They both noticed their enthusiasm or the rock and roll and
blues music. After the encounter Richards soon joined Little Boy Blues and the Clues Boys, Jagger s
blues group. Furthermore, while making rounds of London blues clubs, Jagger and

I Want To Pursue My Degree In College
In the near future I plan on finishing my senior year of high school here at Ellington Academy and I
plan on attending a community college of my choice here in Michigan taking classes for photography
such as a filmmaking class and/or graphic communications as I do now at the Kent Career Technical
Center, furthering my knowledge and experience of that field.
I intend on having art as my major in college. I specifically became interested in art because of an
important event in my life when I was younger. A very close loved one I had used to love art and
would draw whatever I could imagine for me in extreme detail in little time. This exposed me to my
interest of art. Then, one day, this loved one passed away. I mourned this person s death for a few
years. About three years later I began thinking missing that person s artwork and I didn t have any to
remember them by. So I wanted to learn how to draw. I then began to self teach myself. After a few
years I began to grow deeper in the art field and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I m still deciding on what college(s) I want to attend in the near future but i m doing my best to make
college life easier on myself. I m planning ahead of time and preparing myself right now to make
things easier on myself later on in my life later on such as: having a job, saving up money, obtaining
early college credits, applying to and doing research on colleges, and trying to keep my grades up in
high school.
In conclusion, It may have taken a while for me to choose a career path but I eventually chose to
become a photographer, to travel the world and take pictures to keep memories of the good times and
possibly even the bad ones to reflect back on. I have other careers that I chose to fall back on such as
accounting, animation, interpreter, camera operator, etc. Although I would prefer to stay in the art

The Importance Of Economic Globalization
Globalization, which is the process of nations, group, and organizations spreading their influence
internationally, affects every citizen of the modern world daily. Without realizing it consumers
contribute to economic globalization by purchasing products from transnational corporations, every
single day. The source takes an opinion against globalization, specifically economic globalization.
Which is the interdependence that economies across the world rely on each other to continue and
prosper. These economies rely on each other, because countries buy, and trade products that they can
not produce, with those that can. The sources main point against economic globalization is that it is
not sustainable. This means that economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A specific group that promotes the cessation of fossil fuels is Greenpeace. They are known for saying
When the last tree is cut, the last river poisoned, and the last fish dead, we will discover that we can t
eat money... . This quote shows how they agree with the source because they show how that the
pursuit of wealth will still lead to poverty and is unsustainable if the environment is not respected and
maintained. Alternatively, some groups may disagree with the source. An example would be
transnational corporations. They depend on economic globalization and the fact that countries depend
on each other for goods. Because of this dependence, they capitalize on the opportunity to provide
products that are in demand and profit off of it. These corporations would argue that they create jobs
in developing countries. They would also argue that this process keeps economic globalization
sustainable since they are creating jobs worldwide. We should embrace the source s view completely,
to ensure that developing countries are treated fairly, and our world economy stays sustainable.
A key argument against modern economic globalization is the impact that it has on the environment.

Peanut Butter Puffs
When I wake up every morning at 5:00 am, I just lay around in bed, protected by my soft heated
blanket. 5:30, off goes the next alarm. 5:45 comes around and I hit the off button again. I m getting
highly annoyed, but that is what is supposed to happen, so I get off my lazy butt. 6:00 and the final
alarm goes off. I get that feeling in my stomach where I just want to scream. I do this to myself every
morning, then after that final alarm, it takes me 15 more minutes to eventually give up the safety of
my bed, and get on with whatever the day brings me. Slipping on my grey slippers and M M robe, for
of course, the safety of warmth, I go off into the darkness of the house to find my way into the
kitchen. Reaching down into the cupboard I have to make a very hard decision. Cinnamon Toast
Crunch or Reese s Peanut Butter Puffs. Deciding on the Reese s Puffs, I get the gallon of milk out of

Essay about The Subculture of Scuba Divers
The focus of this research paper is to analyze the information, unique characteristics, and history
regarding the subculture of scuba divers. Scuba divers get to explore new, exciting, and breathtaking
regions in the ocean that many people never get to experience in their whole lives. Scuba divers hold
important roles in society because of the discoveries they make on a daily basis. They provide much
needed research that is important in the scientific community regarding newly discovered marine
species. Scuba divers get the opportunity to explore exceptionally beautiful ocean features that include
shipwrecks, coral reefs, and other stunning tropical ocean regions. Many people find scuba diving an

As time progressed, the equipment that was used for scuba diving began to be perfected, and many
workout clubs began featuring classes to train people how to dive (Ed LaRochelle, 2009). This
allowed scuba diving to become a leisure activity that anyone could engage in (Ed LaRochelle, 2009).
Jacques Cousteau was a famous scuba diver who made many discoveries, including many new
innovative tools and equipment such as the aquatic lung (Ryan Spence, 2010). He also produced over
100 television episodes discussing the different aspects of scuba diving along with his new inventions
(Ryan Spence, 2010). Sylvia Earle was another recognizable person in the field of scuba diving (Sue
Vander Hook, 2001). She was a famous figure because she was the first person ever to dive to two
hundred and fifty feet breathing compressed air in a Jim Suit, and she broke many records for deepest
dives in submersibles (Sue Vander Hook, 2001). Thirdly, Augustus Siebe created a diving suit that
included a copper helmet and rubber material for a more flexible suit (John Bantin, 2007). This
invention by Siebe allowed divers to dive to deeper depths into the ocean and explore more wrecks
and ocean features (John Bantin, 2007). Jacques Cousteau once said, Innovation is nothing more than
the tool of the explorer... If you need something, you make it (Ryan Spence, 2010: 12). These

London Riots
In this essay, I will be proposing a suitable research method to identify the causes of the 2011 London
Riots that took place between the 6th August and the 10th August, which resulted in lawlessness
chaos, looting, arson, attacks, etc. My aim is to determine why the riots happened, so that such
violence can be prevented in the future. I will do this using scientific methodology and choose the
most appropriate method for my research. Firstly, a summary of the Experimental Method. It
originates from a research question, but you could say the idea behind the question is derived from
intuition. This leads to a hypothesis, which is the initial building block in the scientific method.

them being questionnaires. Questionnaires can be printed onto paper, then handed out to people and
posted through their doors, or they can be accessible through the internet sent to people via email or
completed as an online questionnaire. An advantage of this is it allows minimal contact between the
researcher and the participant. The telephone surveys or the web surveys are more convenient for
participants to complete, in the comfort of their own home, or on the go, as long as they are very brief,
with only a few questions asked. However, it is very easy to lie or exaggerate, especially if you re not
directly in the presence of the interviewer. This is where face to face interviews come in a direct way
of obtaining information, with the interviewer asking the participant questions. Also, if you are using
random sampling, you can easily select and ask random people on the road to take part in your survey,

The Definition of Success Essay
What is success? How does one succeed in life? A few moments thought will convince us that the
question is by no means an easy one to answer. We say this, that, or the other man is successful, but
what do we mean by it? One man has houses and lands, has a large bank account, drives fast horses
and has many apparent friends, such a man is accounted successful. Yet all of these things that
minister to his pleasure have been acquired by unremitting labor, by hard, avaricious dealings with his
fellow men, by trampling upon the hearts and affections of thousands; in the face of these facts is the
man a successful one?
The question will be answered differently, according; to the views of life of the one answering it.
Some think wealth is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The man who becomes wealthy is in a measure successful, but only so far as the acquirement sharpens
his intellect, broadens his powers, and develops him into a self reliant, powerful member of society for
its good. Selfish wealth is never good. One may be a millionaire, but if with it comes greed, avarice,
oppression of others, the success is small indeed. Scattered along the path of life we find examples of
men whose success brought them fame and glory and proved an unqualified blessing to all mankind. .
. .
[Scientist Louis] Aggasiz was at one time importuned to go upon the lecture platform and make
money out of his vast knowledge as a naturalist. His reply will be ever memorable: I have no time to
make money. Such a man would be hooted at on Wall Street by the men who speculate in the earnings
of others and imagine themselves the great business men of this age. Yet whose success is greatest,
that of Louis Agassiz standing among his pupils . . . teaching them the secrets of nature, or that of Jay
Gould heaping together millions wrung from the failure of thousands of his fellows? One rests secure
in a pure fame, the other is hated and feared by his neighbors and at the last will have been simply
notorious.
There is one criterion by which success can be fairly measured,

If an individual has grown up hearing that they are uneducated, stupid, or worthless, and has had no
one to tell them otherwise, eventually they will believe it is true and identify themselves in such a
way. Unfortunately it is difficult being a Black male growing up in today s society because they are
often perceived as fitting a negative labels or stereotypes, regardless if it is true or not. In order to
prevent Black males from accepting the negative label or stereotype as and behaving in such a way, I
believe it is important for Black males to be exposed to positive role models and influential people
who will reassure Black males that the negative racial stereotypes and labels they hear are not true.
Black males must also be aware of the negative labels and stereotypes associated with their gender
and race, yet learn to ignore them and identify themselves based on who they truly believed they are,
not who other people say they

If there s a proud character in Sodor, it has to be Gordon. He is also one of the old engines in the story.
While he may be proud and boastful at times, this train right here still possesses the same traits that

number four written on both of his sides is also well loved because of his accommodating character.

An Error Residual Generator for Fault Detection and Isolation in a Data Acquisition System Used For
Carbon Mono Oxide Nitrogen Oxide Monitoring
Abstract clean air is a basic necessity for all human beings living on earth, yet about 80% of world s
population breathes air that has pollutants which exceed the World Health Organization s
recommended level. Environmental air pollution has significant influence on the concentration of
constituents in the atmosphere leading to effects like global warming and acid rains. To avoid such
adverse imbalances in nature, an air pollution measuring system is of utmost importance. This paper
presents fault detection and isolative model implemented in a novel fault tolerant microcontroller
based data acquisition system design for air pollutant concentration measurement in industrial
facilities in Nigeria. A supervisory control unit was incorporated in the data acquisition system design
in an attempt at robust control. The model utilizes weighted standard deviation /data variance method
to detect anomalies and correlation in measured data, with a view to data intelligence elicitation, an
error residual generator was designed to handle fault isolation and accommodation. The overall system
implements corrective procedures in the event of a fault or failure with appropriate indicators showing

  • 5. Margot s Intentional Killing in Hemingway s The Short... Ernest Hemingway is known for writing novels and short stories with unresolved endings. In his short story, ?The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber?, he definitely leaves his readers guessing. The question is whether Margot kills her husband, Francis, intentionally, or if she accidentally shoots him, because she tries to save his life. There are many points that could be argued for both conclusions, but my observations have led me to believe that Margot did indeed shoot her husband intentionally, however, without pre meditation. Later on in the story, the growth of Francis?s confidence during the buffalo hunt and Margot?s displeasure with it is the final clue in determination of the death of Francis Macomber. The buffalo hunt gives Francis a new found sense of ?happiness?. This ?new wealth? of confidence is powerful for Francis and devastating for Margot . ?Fear gone like an operation. Something else grew in its place. Main thing a man had. Made him into man. Women knew it too. No bloody fear? (Hemingway). Margot knew at this point that if Francis survives the trip, he might possess enough personal strength and finally leave her, and that is what encourages her decision to kill him. At the end of the story Wilson confirms the reader?s suspicion when he reacts to the shooting by saying to Margot, ?That was a pretty thing to do? (Hemindway). This was an exciting movie considering it was a black and white film. The whole movie was about the loyalty of a town marshal named Kane and the betrayal of the town. After watching High Noon, there were a lot of fallacies that were depicted through out the movie such as begging the question, ad hominem, slippery slope, and Inconsistency. The characters in the movie do a great job at portraying each of these fallacies. Following the scene, when Kane asks for volunteer deputies, one of the Individual s gets up and says, Ain t it true, that Kane no longer a marshal and isn t it true there is personal trouble between him and Miller? This is another great example of Ad Hominem because once again another individual is attacking Kane s character rather than tackling the issue that Kane is making in the scene. The Individual s argument is rejected on the basis of irrelevant fact about Kane. In a key scene, where characters in the church debate the pros and cons of helping the marshal, the case is finally made against Kane by the Mayor with the economic rationalist argument that a gunfight in the streets would be bad for business and the North wont send money for stores and factories. I believe this scene is a good example of a slippery slope fallacy because the mayor is using fear of gunfire in streets to support his idea of North not sending money for stores and factories. The Mayor is not using a good argument/ reason to support his idea. There is no evidence provided that north won t send money because of gunfire between Kane and Miller. Towards the end of the film, inconsistency in characters seems to develop. • 8. Tattoos And Consumer Culture In recent days, the consumption of tattoos may be considered contradictory in its ability to make someone be different and its potential symbolism of various subcultures allowing the consumer to fit in. While many cultures around the world started using tattoos as a way to mark status, spiritual devotion, bravery and protection, Western society began using tattoos as a symbol of criminality and deviance. This perception of degeneracy has been argued to derive from European middle class ideas of evolutionary superiority of their civilised society versus other savage ones (1993, p. 10). With the rise of the rock star in the seventies, many subcultures began to use tattooing to defy the dominant ideology of an ink free body being society s attractive norm (Kosut 2013, p. 143; Sternberg, 2017 a). In recent years, popular culture and incorporation altered mainstream perceptions of tattoos and challenged the traditional ideologies connecting tattoos and deviance (Kjeldgaard Bengtsson 2005, p. 172). By exploring the development of tattoos in consumer culture, this essay examines the contrasting beliefs regarding whether consumption practices are sites of resistance to the dominant order or sites of conformity. The history and social significance of tattoos is very complex, as stated by Karacaoglan (2012): Although the practice of tattooing has been in existence for millennia, tattoos have acquired renewed and widespread currency in contemporary Western culture. Some of the sources of wastewater include industrial effluents from manufactures, agricultural effluents, agro industrial as well as domestic wastewater from sinks, bathtubs, toilets, and so on. Particles in the water from the various sources include bacteria, organic matters, and sand which cause the water to be turbid or discoloured in appearance and have an unpleasant odour. As a result, the removal of the dissolved or suspended components from all these sources is critical in wastewater treatment. This vital process includes coagulation and flocculation (both processes work in tandem). In these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Coagulation Coagulation involves the addition of an electrolyte agent that is positively charged. This is added to contaminated water to destabilize the colloidal suspension by combining with them to neutralize their charges. Consequently, this prevents them from repelling each other. These neutral charged particles are called pinflocs or microflocs and are now able to undergo flocculation for settling. The most commonly used coagulants may be salts of aluminium based or iron based. Aluminium based coagulants consist of sodium aluminate, poly aluminium chloride (PAC) and aluminium sulphate (alum). Iron coagulants are mainly ferric chloride, ferric chloride sulphate, ferrous sulfate and ferric sulphate; also magnesium carbonate and hydrated sodium carbonate (lime) are used. When these metal coagulants are added to water they rapidly undergo hydrolysis producing hydrolyzed complexes that are multi charged (example: bivalent 3+ charge). This gives the aluminium and iron coagulants superior adsorption properties (causing the molecules to stick together). The dissociation of two coagulants; Alum (aluminium sulphate and Ferrous sulphate) when in water can be seen below. Alum Ferrous Sulphate From the reactions above, the hydroxide ions (OH ) that will be generated from the compounds will cause a change in pH of the water to becoming more basic. The sun keeps our planets in orbit due to its large gravitational forces and provides our planet with heat. There are many different ways in which stars can be classified, and The Sun is listed as a G type Main Sequence star and is also known as a yellow dwarf. It is currently in a phase called the main sequence in which 4 hydrogen atoms are fused together to form 1 helium atom as well as energy (4.3x10 12 joules worth). Our sun is approximately half way through its main sequence phase, and in approximately 5 billion years it will enter it s post main sequence. Once all of the hydrogen in the core of the sun is depleted, the sun begins its post main sequence by ascending the red giant branch, starting with a phenomenon known as shell burning. Once the hydrogen core is depleted, outward radiation pressure stops and inward gravitational attraction causes the helium core to contract, converting gravitational potential energy into thermal energy (http://www.atnf.csiro.au/outreach/education/senior/astrophysics/stellarevolution_postmain.html). A very close loved one I had used to love art and would draw whatever I could imagine for me in extreme detail in little time. This exposed me to my interest of art. Then, one day, this loved one passed away. I mourned this person s death for a few years. About three years later I began thinking missing that person s artwork and I didn t have any to remember them by. So I wanted to learn how to draw. I then began to self teach myself. The Importance Of Economic Globalization Globalization, which is the process of nations, group, and organizations spreading their influence internationally, affects every citizen of the modern world daily. Without realizing it consumers contribute to economic globalization by purchasing products from transnational corporations, every single day. The source takes an opinion against globalization, specifically economic globalization. Which is the interdependence that economies across the world rely on each other to continue and prosper. Alternatively, some groups may disagree with the source. An example would be transnational corporations. They depend on economic globalization and the fact that countries depend on each other for goods. Because of this dependence, they capitalize on the opportunity to provide products that are in demand and profit off of it. These corporations would argue that they create jobs in developing countries. They would also argue that this process keeps economic globalization sustainable since they are creating jobs worldwide. We should embrace the source s view completely, to ensure that developing countries are treated fairly, and our world economy stays sustainable. In order to prevent Black males from accepting the negative label or stereotype as and behaving in such a way, I believe it is important for Black males to be exposed to positive role models and influential people who will reassure Black males that the negative racial stereotypes and labels they hear are not true. An Error Residual Generator for Fault Detection and Isolation in a Data Acquisition System Used For Carbon Mono Oxide Nitrogen Oxide Monitoring Abstract clean air is a basic necessity for all human beings living on earth, yet about 80% of world s population breathes air that has pollutants which exceed the World Health Organization s recommended level. Environmental air pollution has significant influence on the concentration of constituents in the atmosphere leading to effects like global warming and acid rains. To avoid such adverse imbalances in nature, an air pollution measuring system is of utmost importance. This paper presents fault detection and isolative model implemented in a novel fault tolerant microcontroller based data acquisition system design for air pollutant concentration measurement in industrial facilities in Nigeria. A supervisory control unit was incorporated in the data acquisition system design in an attempt at robust control. The model utilizes weighted standard deviation /data variance method to detect anomalies and correlation in measured data, with a view to data intelligence elicitation, an error residual generator was designed to handle fault isolation and accommodation. The overall system implements corrective procedures in the event of a fault or failure with appropriate indicators showing in process operation.
