The Themes And Comparison Of The Uncle Remus Tales
Uncle Remus Stories After the series of stories, The Uncle Remus Tales by Joel Chandler Harris
were published it impacted the world. These stories were a Literary Awakening. They brought a
different and unique style and theme to the world. There a many reasons why the controversy of
these stories began. These days, it is believed the tales are racist and it is not frequent to find people
who read them. When the stories were first published people enjoyed these stories but eventually
arguments about the stories kept coming up until most of the people stopped reading them. The
different theme and style made many authors change the way they think of writingand it made a
change in literature. These stories impose themes and styles that not... Show more content on

Although the dialect that Joel Chandler Harris uses is kind of hard to understand, it portrays a
unique form of writing in the sense that you write the way you speak. In the stories, the white
boy s dialogue is written in a different way from the black people s dialogue. For example, the
white boy s dialogue is Didn t the fox never catch the rabbit, Uncle Remus? asked the little boy
the next evening compared to the black people s dialogue which is `Mawnin ! sez Brer Rabbit,
sezee `nice wedder dis mawnin , sezee. The difference of these quotes can instantly be seen
because the Black s dialogue is written in Black English. In other words, Harris wrote the way the
Black from the plantation he visited, the ones who inspired the stories. United Statesian students
should be exposed and taught about the Uncle Remus s stories in schools because they enforce
and teach different styles of writing. At the same time, it teaches that not only can you write
stories in dialect but also that Standard English is not the only way to write. If Joel Chandler
Harris had not written the stories in dialect the stories would have been seen from a whole different
perspective. The style of writing can show many different things that may not always be seen in

The Indelibility Of The Past In The Mayor Of Casterbridge...
In the Mayor of Casterbridge, Thomas Hardy shows how one man s mistakes can impact the rest
of his life. The two themes I found most significant in The Mayor of Casterbridge are honesty
and the indelibility of the past. In order to fully study these themes and their effects on our
protagonist s life, we must start where his story begins. Mr. Henchard, our story s namesake, has
committed a grievous sin by drunkenly auctioning off his wife and child. This is not the first
time he has made an abusive action against Susan, as evidenced by her line, I ve lived with thee
a couple of years and had nothing but temper! (Hardy 13). Evidently their relationship is
incredibly flawed if Michael could not put to rest his alcoholism and anger issues for the sake of
his wife and child. He takes action against his alcohol issues by vowing never to touch strong
liquor for the next twenty years. However, it is too late for his marriageand the damage has already
been done. The place of women in Henchard s life ties deeply into the indelibility of the past.
When we meet him again, he has not only become the most successful hay trusser in the town, but
has also become the mayor. Henchard s reformed behavior shows results, but it isn t enough to
break him from his curse of bad interpersonal relationships. For one thing, he has made
commitments to another woman who caught feelings for him and got in trouble for messing with
him, and he felt he owed her something. While this story

On The Grey Tree Mondrian
Mondrian was born in 1872, and died in 1944. Throughout his career, he made sure to create
many geometric artworks. He came from a neat, Calvinist country where the severe landscape of
interlocking canals and ruler straight roads often looked mechanically laid out (145). He was a
painter and used oil on canvas to create his artworks. In 1892, he had a degree in education and
could Teach drawing in secondary schools (Early life and works).
This painting was created in 1912, and was called The Grey Tree. If he was alive right now, and
had the same technology that is common in 2016, I don t think he would have changed how he
made his artwork. He may have had a different way to get to the end product, but in the end it
would probably look the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Mondrian was alive today, this painting may be a little different. This is because it looks
nothing like what he named it, so maybe he would have biased it off a different picture to get more
of an ocean feel to the painting. The painting was painted with oil paints on a canvas.
This painting was created in 1912, and it was named The Flowering Apple Tree. In this painting,
he probably used what he thought an apple tree that was flowering looked like if created
geometrically. He probably would not have changed this painting if he was alive today, even
though it doesn t look like an apple tree. However, there is a possibility that he would have found
a way to make it look more like an apple tree rather than what it looks like.
This painting was created in 1944, the year that Piet Mondrian died. It was called the Victory
Boogie Woogie. In this painting, it was likely something he imagined and wanted to make it visible
to everyone. Because that is how he thought of this painting, he wouldn t have changed what it
looked like today. Unless there was something else that gave him the inspiration, because then it
could look like something totally different. However, it depends on how he got the inspiration, or if
there was some reason he thought of this exact

Wicca And Witchcraft
Witchcraft is a religion. Wicca is one form of Witchcraft; however, the term Wicca is occasionally
applied to Witchcraft in overall. In the United States, most individuals who practice this religion
identify themselves as Witches or Wiccans. Wicca is an earth based religion and in some ways is
akin to the Native American spirituality. Wicca, which is sometimes called The Craft, Wicce, or
The Old Religion, is centered on an ancient religion of nature and love of life. Most federal and
governments as well as the U.S. Armed Forces recognize the religion of Wicca. The courts have
acknowledged the right of even inmates to perform this religion on the same basis as other religions.
In ancient times, people appreciated Nature with its great forces and celebrated the cycles of the
seasons and the moon. They understood the spirituality in the sun as well as the moon and in the
Earth Herself. When you come right down to it, in all of life.
This perspective is in spite of everything, vital to present day Wicca. To most Wiccans,
everything in Nature, together with the Goddesses and Gods, is a true aspect of Deity. The
elements most often notable in the Craft are the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, which is
known as the Triple Goddess of the Moon and in addition the Horned God. These have numerous
names in a number of cultures. Wicca is personal, flexible and all encompassing. You will find no
two Wiccans observe their faith in exactly the same way but all are accepted. This can only

The Thin Line Between Child Abuse And Abuse
The Thin Line Between Disciple and Abuse Child abuser or an unfit parent are the words that come
to mind, followed by disapproving looks and scornful stares, whenever a parent admits to using
corporal punishment. Corporal punishment is an infliction of pain as punishment for unacceptable
behavior, an offense, or wrongdoing. The punishment being administered by the parent or guardian
can range in severity from a pop on the back of the hand to a belt or switch to the heinie. Although
corporal punishmentis a painful means of punishment, the issue here is whether or not it can be
seen as justifiable when it comes to parents choosing to use it as a disciplinary tool at home.
Whether or not a parent should spank their child has been quite a controversial... Show more content

Psychologist Elizabeth Thompson Gershoff, PhD, of the National Center for Children in Poverty at
Columbia University, looked into the positive and negative behaviors that are associated with
corporal punishment. In doing so, she found strong associations between corporal punishment and
the eleven child behaviors and experiences. (Gershoff par.3) Those eleven behaviors and
experiences include, immediate compliance, moral internalization, quality of relationship with
parent, physical abuse from the parent, mental health, aggression, criminal behavior, antisocial
behavior, abuse of own children, and abuse of spouse (Gershoff par.2). Ten of those behaviors are
negative and the only positive behavior is the immediate compliance from the child. Gershoff states
that her findings do not give concrete evidence that all children who have received corporal
punishment have turned out to aggressive or a delinquent. Therefore, there are entirely too many
factors that come in to play. Whether or not the parent and child have a close relationship, if the
parent is able to control their temper while spanking the child, the different forms of corporal
punishment, and etc. However, each parent has their own thought, ideas, and beliefs on how to
discipline their child. The act of corporal punishment itself is different across parents parents vary
in how frequently they use it, how forcefully they administer

Internal And Domestic Conflict During The Cold War Era
The words of Lewis carrol Let craft, ambition, spite Be quenched in reason s night, Till weakness
turn to might, Till what is dark is light, Till what is wrong is right. The conventional political
analysts gave two fold international relationship doctrine war and peace. Pace has meant
international peace, while war has referred to major interstate armed conflicts. The security within
borders has been identical to national security. National security and national defense have become
virtually synonymous, and emphasis has been put on the military aspects of security. The
traditional arrangements for peace and security have been balance of power and collective security.
However, the post cold war era has brought to the fore the problem of internal and domestic conflict.
Globalisation and communication are deeply intertwined in international relations. Probably, there
is no globalization without media and communication. The breaking up of space and time, brought
about by electronic media, has led to individuals being able to interact with one another and within
frameworks of mediated interaction, regardless of social disparities. The countries are no more
impermeable to the events and happenings of other nations around the world. David Held and
Anthony Mc grew s definition of globalization which denotes the expanding scale, growing
magnitude, speeding up and deepening impact of transcontinental flows and patterns of social
interaction.

Frog And Toad
As I was reading through the different theories of language, I found myself relating to all of them
in some aspect. However, I relate mostly with the constructivist theory and have seen the benefits of
this theory play out in my own classroom.
My first year of teaching was at an international school in South Korea. The curriculum was based
mainly around rote memorization and testing. The students in my third grade class were required
to use basal readers and take weekly tests based on vocabulary and comprehension. Some students
did well and others struggled, especially students who were English language learners. What the
tests did not show was how well the students learned and comprehended when we did free or
partner reading. Now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One topic of conversation that arose was about the animals, insects, reptiles and amphibians that
inhabit the rainforest. My students at the time were very drawn to frogs so during a reading
lesson about character traits I chose the book Frog and Toad Together by Arnold Lobel. In this
short chapter book Frog and Toad are best friends who enjoy different adventures together. It is a
wonderful example of friendship and loyalty. For this particular lesson students were analyzing
their character traits. As I was observing and participating in discussions around the classroom, I
realized that many of the students were wondering about the difference between a frog and toad
and wondering if the characters in the book reflected these differences. These insights made me
realize that we should shift the focus and research these differences. I contacted the librarian and
he suggested I read them All About Frogs by Jim Arnosky. Thus I choose this book as my
expository example. This book provided a wealth of information and vivid illustrations about
different types of frogs and toads. The students were extremely engaged in learning more about
frogs and using this information to draw conclusions about the fictional characters in Frog and Toad
Together by Arnold Lobel. My students took the initiative to learn and explore with very little push
from me. It was one of my most memorable lessons, that literally

Christian Church And Its Impact On Society
The influence that Churches have created throughout the course of history has greatly impacted
lives of many people. Catholic, protestant, Christian, and Islamic churches have all had an effect
towards the way their people live, think, and behave. Churches in each society have an effect that
positively influences people. When people know that they have a God and savior who is at their
side they feel comfortable, this keeps people together. Many societies base their whole life around
their religion. Their religion is the rulebook, their faith, and their go to when in need of help. The
Catholic Church, Catholic meaning universal is a church with unique practices, beliefs, and
traditions compared to the Christian church. (5) The Catholic Church is the closest related to the
Christian Church but is extremely different when it comes to rules and specific beliefs. The
Christian church is more focused around the belief of followers of Jesus.(1) The Church is
centered on the belief that their religion should be focused on the life and walks of Jesus the Son
of God. The Protestant Church is a branch of Christianityand shares the belief of
2
Jesus. Martin Luther formed the protestant church in 1517. (5) The Roman Catholic Church traces
its history to the Apostles, mainly Peter. The Catholic Church is one of the branches of religions
focused around Christianity. The Catholic Church was founded around the death and resurrection
of Jesus Christ. In the Roman Catholic Church

Symbolistic Themes In My Mortal Enemy By Willa Cather
Throughout the novel, My Mortal Enemy by Willa Cather, she incorporates many themes, symbols,
and imagery. Some of the themes include love, marriages, and choices. One of the most important
and symbolistic theme is money. Money is used throughout the whole book; it is used to help
persuade decisions, it characterizes their lavish lifestyle, and it is what caused Oswald to become
Myra s mortal enemy.
Myra, being an orphan child was raised by her great uncle, John Driscoll, who grew up a poor boy
and made his fortune employing contract labor in the Mississippi swamps (10). The novel
describes their lavish lifestyle in which they lived in a grand house on a ten acre park and was the

Myra, even though leaving her beloved uncle, and moving with Oswald, never faced poverty,
she lived in Madison Square in an apartment on the second floor, with high ceiled room, solidly
built, with deep windows and wide doors (22 23). Oswald spoiling her ever need, Myra now
having a taste of money, didn t want to live a life without it, saying that it s very nasty, being
poor (34). They were able to attend elegant parties, go watch broadways shows, and have friends
that were actors. Myra enjoyed their lifestyle and all that the money had to offer. Things begin
to take a horrific turn for the worse, with Henshaw s road was taken over by another trucking
line; the office staff was cut into two and Henshaw was offered only a small position, in which
he refused, knowing that Myra wouldn t let him accept it (51). Oswald and Myra moved to San
Francisco, where Oswald had received a job as a manager over a commission house; the business
had failed, and Myra became ill (52).
Myra and Oswald had moved into a new building, and had lost all their riches and their lavish
lifestyle amidites they used to enjoy. Myra, being ill and displeased with the fact that they were
broke, her love for Oswald begin to fall apart. Myra stated that it was a cruel thing to be poor;
that it leaves you at the mercy of such pigs! Money is a protection, a cloak: it can buy one quiet,
and some sort of dignity (57). Not having money had made Myra miserable and made her wish she

Stock Market Game Paper
Stock Market Game The first step when partaking in any type of a game is to decide what one s
strategy will be. The strategy that I had to determine was what my investment philosophy was
going to be. In this game, my willingness to take risk was greater than it would have been if we
would have been using real currency. My risktolerance would fall between moderate and
aggressive. An investment philosophy is one s approach to tolerance for risk in investments. It
may be conservative which means you accept very little risk and are generally rewarded with
relatively low rates of return. Another investment philosophy is moderate also known as risk
indifference, this means one accepts some risk as they seek capital gains through slow and
steady growth. Lastly, one may have an aggressive investment philosophy or be more of a risker
seeker. Often times, people strive for a very high return by accepting a high level of risk. Going

Why Did The Diprotodon Become Extinct
Introduction
Megafauna simply means big animals and is a term mostly used to describe a particular group of
large land animals which evolved millions of years after the dinosaurs became extinct. These
animals generally have a body mass which is greater than 40 kilograms.
Diptrotodon
The Diprotodon was the largest and the best known of the megafauna.
The Diprotodon co existed with humans for thousands of years before becoming extinct some
25,000 years ago. It was also the last megafauna to become extinct.
They were widely spread throughout Australia, including the Darling Downs in Queensland,

Appearance
The Procoptodon was a huge kangaroo which grew up to 2 metres in height and weighed up to 200
kilograms.
The Procoptodon had a short, flat face and forward facing eyes and an upright posture.
The lower jaw was big and a chin was developed. It had small incisors on the upper and lower jaws
for nipping the vegetation.
It had long and mobile forelimbs with the two middle fingers having long, recurved claws enabling
them to be used like a hook to grasp leafy branches.
It had a single toe on its feet which had a hoof like claw on the end of it. This may have helped
give the Procoptodon a greater measure of speed. It is believed that the number 2, 3 and 5 toe
bones were so reduced that they were lost and the well developed number 4 toe formed into a

in The Lake Menindee area in western New South Wales, it was a somewhat cooler and wetter

The Importance Of Student Success
Scientist have research that about 90% of the people don t achieve their goals because of the
challenges encountered. Many of our students here in the city of Anaheim are faced with
challenges everyday and sometimes don t know how to deal with them. My argument is that
student success is founded upon giving full effort from students rather than by achieving good
grades. In the research story of the secret to raising smart kids by Carol Dweck is a research based
paper on the achievements of students. The mastery oriented children, on the other hand, think
intelligenceis malleable and can be developed through educationand hard work. They want to learn
above all else. After all if you believe it that you can expand your intellectual skills, you want to
do just that, because slipups stem from a lack of effort, not ability, they can be remedied by more
effort (27).The student intellectual intelligence can grow by studying. They believe that
intelligence is malleable. It can be changed or shaped by the hard work and what things we
change. If school in Anaheim cared about their education we would be talking about different
topics. Since we would be putting so much effort to our changes of habit to better understanding
in school we would be satisfied with our results. Many of us would try again and again if it is
possible to get a better result. Putting effort can take time but at the end it is worth it. Many of our
students believe a challenge changes their intelligence view.

The Moral Imperative Of William Shakespeare s Hamlet
Self Reflection To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou cans t not
be false to any man. Shakespeare, Hamlet. To live an authentic way of life, you must know
yourself and act accordingly. This is the moral imperative throughout the history of the study of
human behavior. Existentialist believed that authenticity is critically important in understanding
well being and freedom from psychopathology. The quote from William Shakespeare means that
one must be honest in his ways and relations. When we are being inauthentic, we are not
congruent with our values, preferences, and abilities. We tend to feel out of sync even things
seem to be right or ideal. Our actions and feelings are not connected. We show people around us
such as relatives, friends, neighbors, and co workers that we are living the perfect life. We are
great actors, living the fake life. Authenticity is defined the unimpeded operation of one s true or
core self in ones daily enterprise . To be authentic requires awareness and knowledge about own self.
People who are authentic have a clear understanding about their strength and weaknesses. They are
accountable. They are connected to their own values and desires and act appropriately in ways that
are consistent with their qualities. Being Authentic means being real and genuine. It allows us to
connect deeply with others because it requires us to be transparent and vulnerable. Authenticity is
important because it liberates us from

Review of Aristotle s Nichomachean Ethics
Aristole s Nichomachean Ethics is a critically acclaimed piece of literature that has laid the
framework for philosophy as we know it today. It is considered to be a historical piece that was
the first to address ethics in a unified, clear, and concise manner. The book was translated by F.
H. Peters with an introduction by Hye Kyung Kim. Aristotle was one of the great early
philosophers who ventured to speak to humans about how they conducted themselves as they
related to others; however, some of Aristotle s ideologies were debated by his counterparts for
hundreds of years. Aristotle s plethora of ideas was and has been adopted by past and present
philosophers as they approached subject matter that had very few definitive answers.... Show more

The need to explain the sensory pleasure or to question it as it relates to happiness points to some
of the teachings of Plato. Plato was not a believer in empiricism, and one of his main works, The
Allegory of the Cave, demonstrates how he believed that ones perception is their reality. In this
writing, Plato uses prisoners to represent the human race; the cave to represent the world as
experienced through our senses; This raises the age old question of how goodness and happiness
merge and direct human activity. Plato s rationalist ideas conflicted with some of Aristotle s
ideologies, but Plato s influence was the impetus for Aristotle s philosophy. Aristotle s assertions
about ethics quickly became the foundation that molded other philosophers that emerged
throughout the centuries. They have also played out in the media, on the silver screen, and in
publications. When evaluating the movie, All The President s Men, we are able to see how the
struggle with media ethics parallels Aristotelian ideologies as expressed in Nichomachean Ethics.
The movie is a conglomeration of ethics, morals, emotions, vices and virtues. All The President s
Men presents the classic circumstances for the proper implementation of prudent ethical behavior.
The main characters are journalists at the Washington Post who have the daunting task of
investigating a break in that continues to lean toward governmental corruption. Aristotle s believed

Essay on Traditional Shinto Modern Japanese Business
The nation of Japan, even more so than other countries, has a long, long history behind it. It s a
country dating back as far as the B.C. Era, and that has experienced various powerful events that has
shaped the country since its birth. As with other nations, an important part of their past lies in their
religion. Before they were introduced to Buddhism and other outside religions, which had a large
impact on their society, the Japanese followed something known as Shinto. As the one religion that
can truly be called Japanese, it follows that its influences would still remain in the eyes of the
people and only aided by a traditionally xenophobic view of the world. Now, in modern Japan, the

One of the key aspects of Shinto, and an aspect that made it somewhat difficult for me to study in a
more isolated context, is the flexibility of it. Unlike the Abrahamic religions, there is no strict
religious doctrine or meticulous set of rules that governs the practitioners. Instead, it s much more a
conceptual idea that carries with it various commonalities, specifically in terms of practices and a
very nature based system of deities (Religions of the World). Although, despite Japan s more
isolated society, they did share certain ideas with other Eastern religions, such as a focus on the
cosmos and harmony with nature and others (Return of the Gods). This led to an interesting
dynamic when other Asian religions and philosophies made their way into Japan. While there might
have been a certain amount of abrasiveness between Shinto and the others at first, the nature of the
religion allowed a unique blending that isn t to often scene between the unique (or semi unique)
religions of multiple countries. The three most prominent influences came from Chinese
Confucianism and Taoism, and Indian Buddhism. Buddhism in particular had the most influence
on their religion, becoming a near inseparable part of it (Religions of the World). This only
supports the notion that religion is more of an idea than what most of us in the west would
typically consider religion. Even before industrialization, Japanese people don t really consider
themselves

The Ethical Philosophy Of The United States
Organizations have disparate marketing strategies when selecting choices that affect stakeholders.
Each approach touches the consumer and the Earth; it defines if the business is socially
accountable for humanity. When the ethical philosophy a company follows is for universal
individual rights regardless of the outcome, it is moral idealism. In contrast, when only considering
the greater good for the greatest number and appraising cost and the benefit of the choice it is
utilitarianism. If the benefits exceed the costs, then the behavior is ethical, if not, then the behavior
is considered unethical. This philosophy underlies the economic tenets of capitalism and is
embraced by many business executives (Kerin, Hartley, Rudelius, 2015,... Show more content on

A company incorporating structures to guide executives that considers all the variables began with
Robert Wood Johnson of Johnson Johnson. In 1934, he wrote a credo which became a structure for
other organizations to consider. The statement described that their responsibility was to all users of
their products, and that the stockholders should realize a fair return without doing harm to a
consumer (Johnson Johnson, 1943). These principles established ethical guidelines for Johnson
Johnson and a model for other industries. В¬The United States Civil Rights Act of 1964, the U.S.
Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 helped
companies to become socially responsible (De George, 2015). Ethics and social responsibilities are

Sociology Essay On Identity And Belonging
Many people feel uncomfortable showing certain parts of their identity, as they might be ashamed
of it. It has been considered for a long while that, to protect one s wellbeing, it is beneficial to hide
the negative aspects of one s self. However, in 2014, professor Manuela Barreto from the University
of Exeter have found that hiding stigmatised identity may, in fact, decrease your belongingness to
the group. Baretto and colleagues asked participants to hide their stigmatised identity when

Then, they were asked to interact with another naГЇve participant and to either hide or show their
stigmatised identity. Researchers found that those who were hiding their identity experienced an
interaction as less enjoyable, and, importantly, other participants said that they did not find a
stigmatised person to be authentic. Moreover, external observers rated interaction as being
awkward. Since authenticity is a crucial part of the belongingness, it could be concluded that
hiding stigmatised identity actually leads to less belongingness. According to professor Baretto,
instead of increasing acceptance, hiding a stigmatised identity can result in a lowered sense of
belonging and even actual social rejection. The results of this research could be implemented in
everyday life. If there is a part of your identity that you don t like and wish to hide, think twice.
Hiding it may cut your belongingness to the group. On the contrary, showing it will make you
seem more authentic, and, thus, likeable. Hiding might seem to be an adaptive strategy but it
could actually lead to the opposite, it may lead you to feel isolated, more awkward in social

question is looking at whether it is essential for well educated people to be aware and interested

Young minds soak up culture just like they seek out to expand their vocabulary and understand
the world around them. As described by Witt, a child s mind is like a field that must be tilled,
fertilized, planted, and cultivated by parents, teachers, and other influential members of the
society in which the child lives . Children watch every single thing that happens around them and
analyzes it deeply. But, as we age, we appear to lose this ability to automatically pay acute
attention to a situation, try and look at it from every way, and use everything we have learned
about the world in the past in order to figure out how and why this is occurring. Adults get
annoyed when children, at the age of normally about 3, will begin to constantly ask why about
everything. But really, this should be cherished because we start to not care enough to want to
grasp every detail of life once we grow into being teenagers and then adults. So, by continuously
exposing children to culture as they mature, we would be encouraging them to stretch out this
wonder for as long as possible. A mind that has been surrounded by the same culture everyday of
their life, acquires certain habits, values, beliefs, and ways of thinking . People, when only
exposed to the same culture for years, will run out of things to find excitement and curiosity in that
leads to the apparent decrease in the analytical aspect of life. Humans are curious creatures. But, we

One of the writers of the Old Testament that is often spoken as an apocalyptic writer and that is

Babylon impressed the leaders with his intellect and good perception. Daniel interpreted King
Nebuchadnezzar s (the king of Babylon) dream (Daniel 2:31 33). A single great: statue; that
statue which was large and of extraordinary splendor, was standing in front of you, and its
appearance was awesome. The head of that statue was made of fine gold, its arms of silver, its
belly and its thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay. You

crushed all at the same time and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; and the wind
carried them away so that not a trace of them found. But the stone that struck the statue became a

Ireland Is An Island Surrounded By The Celtic Sea And The...
Ireland is an island surrounded by the Celtic Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Mountain ranges cover
a vast majority of its geographical structures. Central Ireland is predominantly flat and its ground
is most filled with clay and sand. The climate of Ireland has a lot to do with it being surrounded
by water; it stays usually about 50 degrees year around, having mild winters and cool summers.
Ireland has long been a country of tradition and held on to traditional values for very long, even
when other countries should change. Even today, many Irish homes still follow some of the
traditional values which some argue to be the values of an individual with a well rounded life.
But this does not mean that the entire country employs these values. In fact, the role of the
family has changed significantly in the last couple of decades. In many traditional Irish
families, food and family life were closely linked. Traditionally one parent (Mostly the female
/mother) would stay at home to take care of the family and look after the home duties such as
cooking, cleaning etc. Nowadays this division of work (especially at home) has shifted slightly
towards a more modern perspective. Over the years it became more regular for both parents or
females in general to be actively employed during the week. (ASK, 2016) This shifted may have
changed some parts of the traditional values and gender roles but according to a recent study by the
European movement Ireland, the country still has a long way to

Reform Malpractice Laws to Create True Healthcare Reform...
Mr. X, you ve been diagnosed with... These words are spoken in hospitals around the country
every day and each time they are spoken, a line is drawn between doctor and patient. On one
side is the doctor wondering if enough has been done to defend against being sued for
malpractice. On the other side is the patient with a need for someone to blame for his or her
condition and seeing the doctor as the sole reason for any injured state. This division between
doctor and patient has led to a practice called defensive medicineand it has also created a healthcare
system riddled with inefficiency and in need of an overhaul. There is talk of healthcare reform and
how it is important to control costs to the patient through lower health... Show more content on

The United States legal system exists with many favorable conditions for filing malpractice
lawsuits, including low burden of proof requirements, lax limits on damage awards, and the lack of
a cost sharing provision on filing a legal action.
Impact of Defensive Medicine
The same World Health Organization presentation details the cost of medical litigation rising
from $3 billion per year to $24 billion per year between 1975 and 2002 (Dietrich, 2005, pg. 27).
The amounts awarded in medical lawsuits have an impact on healthcare delivery in the form of
increased insurance costs to the consumer and doctor, or a reduction in services to help cover the
cost of litigation. A survey conducted by the Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) asked 900
physicians if they had practiced defensive medicine procedures. Eighty three percent of the
doctors reported that they had ordered defensive procedures an average of 18 to 28 percent of the
time. They also indicated they had ordered hospitalizations about 13 percent of the time to avoid
potential lawsuits. The MMS estimates that the excess procedures cost the state at least $1.4 billion
a year, and the group believes that amount is an underestimate due to only 46 percent of doctors in
the state participating in the survey (Gulla, 2008).

  • 2. The Themes And Comparison Of The Uncle Remus Tales Uncle Remus Stories After the series of stories, The Uncle Remus Tales by Joel Chandler Harris were published it impacted the world. These stories were a Literary Awakening. They brought a different and unique style and theme to the world. There a many reasons why the controversy of these stories began. These days, it is believed the tales are racist and it is not frequent to find people who read them. When the stories were first published people enjoyed these stories but eventually arguments about the stories kept coming up until most of the people stopped reading them. The different theme and style made many authors change the way they think of writingand it made a change in literature. These stories impose themes and styles that not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the dialect that Joel Chandler Harris uses is kind of hard to understand, it portrays a unique form of writing in the sense that you write the way you speak. In the stories, the white boy s dialogue is written in a different way from the black people s dialogue. For example, the white boy s dialogue is Didn t the fox never catch the rabbit, Uncle Remus? asked the little boy the next evening compared to the black people s dialogue which is `Mawnin ! sez Brer Rabbit, sezee `nice wedder dis mawnin , sezee. The difference of these quotes can instantly be seen because the Black s dialogue is written in Black English. In other words, Harris wrote the way the Black from the plantation he visited, the ones who inspired the stories. United Statesian students should be exposed and taught about the Uncle Remus s stories in schools because they enforce and teach different styles of writing. At the same time, it teaches that not only can you write stories in dialect but also that Standard English is not the only way to write. If Joel Chandler Harris had not written the stories in dialect the stories would have been seen from a whole different perspective. The style of writing can show many different things that may not always be seen in Standard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Indelibility Of The Past In The Mayor Of Casterbridge... In the Mayor of Casterbridge, Thomas Hardy shows how one man s mistakes can impact the rest of his life. The two themes I found most significant in The Mayor of Casterbridge are honesty and the indelibility of the past. In order to fully study these themes and their effects on our protagonist s life, we must start where his story begins. Mr. Henchard, our story s namesake, has committed a grievous sin by drunkenly auctioning off his wife and child. This is not the first time he has made an abusive action against Susan, as evidenced by her line, I ve lived with thee a couple of years and had nothing but temper! (Hardy 13). Evidently their relationship is incredibly flawed if Michael could not put to rest his alcoholism and anger issues for the sake of his wife and child. He takes action against his alcohol issues by vowing never to touch strong liquor for the next twenty years. However, it is too late for his marriageand the damage has already been done. The place of women in Henchard s life ties deeply into the indelibility of the past. When we meet him again, he has not only become the most successful hay trusser in the town, but has also become the mayor. Henchard s reformed behavior shows results, but it isn t enough to break him from his curse of bad interpersonal relationships. For one thing, he has made commitments to another woman who caught feelings for him and got in trouble for messing with him, and he felt he owed her something. While this story ... He came from a neat, Calvinist country where the severe landscape of interlocking canals and ruler straight roads often looked mechanically laid out (145). He was a painter and used oil on canvas to create his artworks. In 1892, he had a degree in education and could Teach drawing in secondary schools (Early life and works). This painting was created in 1912, and was called The Grey Tree. If he was alive right now, and had the same technology that is common in 2016, I don t think he would have changed how he made his artwork. If Mondrian was alive today, this painting may be a little different. This is because it looks nothing like what he named it, so maybe he would have biased it off a different picture to get more of an ocean feel to the painting. The painting was painted with oil paints on a canvas. This painting was created in 1912, and it was named The Flowering Apple Tree. In this painting, he probably used what he thought an apple tree that was flowering looked like if created geometrically. He probably would not have changed this painting if he was alive today, even though it doesn t look like an apple tree. However, there is a possibility that he would have found a way to make it look more like an apple tree rather than what it looks like. This painting was created in 1944, the year that Piet Mondrian died. It was called the Victory Boogie Woogie. In this painting, it was likely something he imagined and wanted to make it visible to everyone. Because that is how he thought of this painting, he wouldn t have changed what it looked like today. Unless there was something else that gave him the inspiration, because then it could look like something totally different. • 5. Wicca And Witchcraft Witchcraft is a religion. Wicca is one form of Witchcraft; however, the term Wicca is occasionally applied to Witchcraft in overall. In the United States, most individuals who practice this religion identify themselves as Witches or Wiccans. Wicca is an earth based religion and in some ways is akin to the Native American spirituality. Wicca, which is sometimes called The Craft, Wicce, or The Old Religion, is centered on an ancient religion of nature and love of life. Most federal and governments as well as the U.S. Armed Forces recognize the religion of Wicca. The courts have acknowledged the right of even inmates to perform this religion on the same basis as other religions. In ancient times, people appreciated Nature with its great forces and celebrated the cycles of the seasons and the moon. They understood the spirituality in the sun as well as the moon and in the Earth Herself. When you come right down to it, in all of life. This perspective is in spite of everything, vital to present day Wicca. To most Wiccans, everything in Nature, together with the Goddesses and Gods, is a true aspect of Deity. The elements most often notable in the Craft are the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, which is known as the Triple Goddess of the Moon and in addition the Horned God. These have numerous names in a number of cultures. Wicca is personal, flexible and all encompassing. You will find no two Wiccans observe their faith in exactly the same way but all are accepted. The Thin Line Between Child Abuse And Abuse The Thin Line Between Disciple and Abuse Child abuser or an unfit parent are the words that come to mind, followed by disapproving looks and scornful stares, whenever a parent admits to using corporal punishment. Corporal punishment is an infliction of pain as punishment for unacceptable behavior, an offense, or wrongdoing. The punishment being administered by the parent or guardian can range in severity from a pop on the back of the hand to a belt or switch to the heinie. Although corporal punishmentis a painful means of punishment, the issue here is whether or not it can be seen as justifiable when it comes to parents choosing to use it as a disciplinary tool at home. Psychologist Elizabeth Thompson Gershoff, PhD, of the National Center for Children in Poverty at Columbia University, looked into the positive and negative behaviors that are associated with corporal punishment. In doing so, she found strong associations between corporal punishment and the eleven child behaviors and experiences. (Gershoff par.3) Those eleven behaviors and experiences include, immediate compliance, moral internalization, quality of relationship with parent, physical abuse from the parent, mental health, aggression, criminal behavior, antisocial behavior, abuse of own children, and abuse of spouse (Gershoff par.2). Ten of those behaviors are negative and the only positive behavior is the immediate compliance from the child. Gershoff states that her findings do not give concrete evidence that all children who have received corporal punishment have turned out to aggressive or a delinquent. Therefore, there are entirely too many factors that come in to play. Whether or not the parent and child have a close relationship, if the parent is able to control their temper while spanking the child, the different forms of corporal punishment, and etc. However, each parent has their own thought, ideas, and beliefs on how to discipline their child. • 8. Internal And Domestic Conflict During The Cold War Era The words of Lewis carrol Let craft, ambition, spite Be quenched in reason s night, Till weakness turn to might, Till what is dark is light, Till what is wrong is right. The conventional political analysts gave two fold international relationship doctrine war and peace. Pace has meant international peace, while war has referred to major interstate armed conflicts. The security within borders has been identical to national security. National security and national defense have become virtually synonymous, and emphasis has been put on the military aspects of security. The traditional arrangements for peace and security have been balance of power and collective security. However, the post cold war era has brought to the fore the problem of internal and domestic conflict. Globalisation and communication are deeply intertwined in international relations. Probably, there is no globalization without media and communication. The breaking up of space and time, brought about by electronic media, has led to individuals being able to interact with one another and within frameworks of mediated interaction, regardless of social disparities. However, I relate mostly with the constructivist theory and have seen the benefits of this theory play out in my own classroom. My first year of teaching was at an international school in South Korea. The curriculum was based mainly around rote memorization and testing. The students in my third grade class were required to use basal readers and take weekly tests based on vocabulary and comprehension. Some students did well and others struggled, especially students who were English language learners. One topic of conversation that arose was about the animals, insects, reptiles and amphibians that inhabit the rainforest. My students at the time were very drawn to frogs so during a reading lesson about character traits I chose the book Frog and Toad Together by Arnold Lobel. In this short chapter book Frog and Toad are best friends who enjoy different adventures together. It is a wonderful example of friendship and loyalty. For this particular lesson students were analyzing their character traits. As I was observing and participating in discussions around the classroom, I realized that many of the students were wondering about the difference between a frog and toad and wondering if the characters in the book reflected these differences. These insights made me realize that we should shift the focus and research these differences. I contacted the librarian and he suggested I read them All About Frogs by Jim Arnosky. Thus I choose this book as my expository example. This book provided a wealth of information and vivid illustrations about different types of frogs and toads. The students were extremely engaged in learning more about frogs and using this information to draw conclusions about the fictional characters in Frog and Toad Together by Arnold Lobel. My students took the initiative to learn and explore with very little push from me. It was one of my most memorable lessons, that literally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The strategy that I had to determine was what my investment philosophy was going to be. In this game, my willingness to take risk was greater than it would have been if we would have been using real currency. My risktolerance would fall between moderate and aggressive. An investment philosophy is one s approach to tolerance for risk in investments. It may be conservative which means you accept very little risk and are generally rewarded with relatively low rates of return. Another investment philosophy is moderate also known as risk indifference, this means one accepts some risk as they seek capital gains through slow and steady growth. You never know whether they really want you to stop, or whether they re just scared as hell, or whether they re just telling you to stop so that if you do go through with it, the blame ll be on you, not them. • 35. Essay on Traditional Shinto Modern Japanese Business The nation of Japan, even more so than other countries, has a long, long history behind it. It s a country dating back as far as the B.C. Era, and that has experienced various powerful events that has shaped the country since its birth. As with other nations, an important part of their past lies in their religion. Before they were introduced to Buddhism and other outside religions, which had a large impact on their society, the Japanese followed something known as Shinto. As the one religion that can truly be called Japanese, it follows that its influences would still remain in the eyes of the people and only aided by a traditionally xenophobic view of the world. Now, in modern Japan, the role of fundamental religion has, for the most... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the key aspects of Shinto, and an aspect that made it somewhat difficult for me to study in a more isolated context, is the flexibility of it. Unlike the Abrahamic religions, there is no strict religious doctrine or meticulous set of rules that governs the practitioners. Instead, it s much more a conceptual idea that carries with it various commonalities, specifically in terms of practices and a very nature based system of deities (Religions of the World). Although, despite Japan s more isolated society, they did share certain ideas with other Eastern religions, such as a focus on the cosmos and harmony with nature and others (Return of the Gods). This led to an interesting dynamic when other Asian religions and philosophies made their way into Japan. While there might have been a certain amount of abrasiveness between Shinto and the others at first, the nature of the religion allowed a unique blending that isn t to often scene between the unique (or semi unique) religions of multiple countries. The three most prominent influences came from Chinese Confucianism and Taoism, and Indian Buddhism. Buddhism in particular had the most influence on their religion, becoming a near inseparable part of it (Religions of the World). This only supports the notion that religion is more of an idea than what most of us in the west would typically consider religion. Even before industrialization, Japanese people don t really consider themselves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Ethical Philosophy Of The United States Organizations have disparate marketing strategies when selecting choices that affect stakeholders. Each approach touches the consumer and the Earth; it defines if the business is socially accountable for humanity. When the ethical philosophy a company follows is for universal individual rights regardless of the outcome, it is moral idealism. In contrast, when only considering the greater good for the greatest number and appraising cost and the benefit of the choice it is utilitarianism. If the benefits exceed the costs, then the behavior is ethical, if not, then the behavior is considered unethical. This philosophy underlies the economic tenets of capitalism and is embraced by many business executives (Kerin, Hartley, Rudelius, 2015,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A company incorporating structures to guide executives that considers all the variables began with Robert Wood Johnson of Johnson Johnson. In 1934, he wrote a credo which became a structure for other organizations to consider. The statement described that their responsibility was to all users of their products, and that the stockholders should realize a fair return without doing harm to a consumer (Johnson Johnson, 1943). These principles established ethical guidelines for Johnson Johnson and a model for other industries. В¬The United States Civil Rights Act of 1964, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 helped companies to become socially responsible (De George, 2015). Ethics and social responsibilities are evident with British Petroleum s handling of the Deepwater Horizon spill in 2010, and Toyota Motor Corporation s attempt to create an eco friendly vehicle. Utilitarianism was exhibited by BP and moral idealism was Toyota s motive to produce environmentally green vehicles. British Petroleum redesigned their name to make it more environmentally friendly, it was changed to Beyond Petroleum, which professed their focus on renewable energy not just hydrocarbons, and promoted a pro social marketing plan (Balmer et al., 2011). • 37. Sociology Essay On Identity And Belonging Many people feel uncomfortable showing certain parts of their identity, as they might be ashamed of it. It has been considered for a long while that, to protect one s wellbeing, it is beneficial to hide the negative aspects of one s self. However, in 2014, professor Manuela Barreto from the University of Exeter have found that hiding stigmatised identity may, in fact, decrease your belongingness to the group. Baretto and colleagues asked participants to hide their stigmatised identity when interacting and then measured the quality of the interaction. Not only they found that hiding negatively affect feelings of belongingness, but also they found that other personfelt like the interaction was less authentic, leading a person not only to feel... Researchers found that those who were hiding their identity experienced an interaction as less enjoyable, and, importantly, other participants said that they did not find a stigmatised person to be authentic. Moreover, external observers rated interaction as being awkward. Since authenticity is a crucial part of the belongingness, it could be concluded that hiding stigmatised identity actually leads to less belongingness. According to professor Baretto, instead of increasing acceptance, hiding a stigmatised identity can result in a lowered sense of belonging and even actual social rejection. The results of this research could be implemented in everyday life. If there is a part of your identity that you don t like and wish to hide, think twice. Hiding it may cut your belongingness to the group. On the contrary, showing it will make you seem more authentic, and, thus, likeable. Hiding might seem to be an adaptive strategy but it could actually lead to the opposite, it may lead you to feel isolated, more awkward in social interactions, and, thus, less social ... • 38. The Humanities Mary Ann Witt Analysis In Mary Ann Witt s work, The Humanities , she states how our world views culture and how cultures are expressed and embraced. Within the first paragraph she asks, Is there indeed a core of great works and cultural information that all educated people should be familiar with? . This question is looking at whether it is essential for well educated people to be aware and interested in every piece of a country s heritage and the way they live or if you should only know that if you are truly curious and intrigued by that country and the belief systems they are raised on. Most people would agree that it is important for everyone to be aware of the world around them. That means knowing that some people stop any task they may be in the middle of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Young minds soak up culture just like they seek out to expand their vocabulary and understand the world around them. As described by Witt, a child s mind is like a field that must be tilled, fertilized, planted, and cultivated by parents, teachers, and other influential members of the society in which the child lives . Children watch every single thing that happens around them and analyzes it deeply. But, as we age, we appear to lose this ability to automatically pay acute attention to a situation, try and look at it from every way, and use everything we have learned about the world in the past in order to figure out how and why this is occurring. Adults get annoyed when children, at the age of normally about 3, will begin to constantly ask why about everything. But really, this should be cherished because we start to not care enough to want to grasp every detail of life once we grow into being teenagers and then adults. So, by continuously exposing children to culture as they mature, we would be encouraging them to stretch out this wonder for as long as possible. A mind that has been surrounded by the same culture everyday of their life, acquires certain habits, values, beliefs, and ways of thinking . People, when only exposed to the same culture for years, will run out of things to find excitement and curiosity in that leads to the apparent decrease in the analytical aspect of life. Humans are curious creatures. But, we need to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Daniel O SU_ MIN7010 W7 A2 Old Testament Apocalyptic Assignment 2: Old Testament Apocalyptic One of the writers of the Old Testament that is often spoken as an apocalyptic writer and that is Daniel. Daniel is depicted as an apocalyptic writer because in the Hebrew Bible, Daniel had dreams and visions which also involved angelic intermediaries Daniel s writings also involve a comprehensive view of prophetic history. This prophetic history begins with a young Jewish exile around the 600BC 586 who had experienced persecution, and intimidation, but once in Babylon impressed the leaders with his intellect and good perception. Daniel interpreted King Nebuchadnezzar s (the king of Babylon) dream (Daniel 2:31 33). A single great: statue; that statue which was large and of extraordinary splendor, was standing in front of you, and its appearance was awesome. The head of that statue was made of fine gold, its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay. You continued looking until a stone was cut out without hands, and it struck the statue on its feet iron any clay and crushed them. Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed all at the same time and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away so that not a trace of them found. • 40. Ireland Is An Island Surrounded By The Celtic Sea And The... Ireland is an island surrounded by the Celtic Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Mountain ranges cover a vast majority of its geographical structures. Central Ireland is predominantly flat and its ground is most filled with clay and sand. The climate of Ireland has a lot to do with it being surrounded by water; it stays usually about 50 degrees year around, having mild winters and cool summers. Ireland has long been a country of tradition and held on to traditional values for very long, even when other countries should change. Even today, many Irish homes still follow some of the traditional values which some argue to be the values of an individual with a well rounded life. But this does not mean that the entire country employs these values. In fact, the role of the family has changed significantly in the last couple of decades. In many traditional Irish families, food and family life were closely linked. Traditionally one parent (Mostly the female /mother) would stay at home to take care of the family and look after the home duties such as cooking, cleaning etc. Nowadays this division of work (especially at home) has shifted slightly towards a more modern perspective. Over the years it became more regular for both parents or females in general to be actively employed during the week. (ASK, 2016) This shifted may have changed some parts of the traditional values and gender roles but according to a recent study by the European movement Ireland, the country still has a long way to ... These words are spoken in hospitals around the country every day and each time they are spoken, a line is drawn between doctor and patient. On one side is the doctor wondering if enough has been done to defend against being sued for malpractice. On the other side is the patient with a need for someone to blame for his or her condition and seeing the doctor as the sole reason for any injured state. This division between doctor and patient has led to a practice called defensive medicineand it has also created a healthcare system riddled with inefficiency and in need of an overhaul. The United States legal system exists with many favorable conditions for filing malpractice lawsuits, including low burden of proof requirements, lax limits on damage awards, and the lack of a cost sharing provision on filing a legal action. Impact of Defensive Medicine The same World Health Organization presentation details the cost of medical litigation rising from $3 billion per year to $24 billion per year between 1975 and 2002 (Dietrich, 2005, pg. 27). The amounts awarded in medical lawsuits have an impact on healthcare delivery in the form of increased insurance costs to the consumer and doctor, or a reduction in services to help cover the cost of litigation. A survey conducted by the Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) asked 900 physicians if they had practiced defensive medicine procedures. Eighty three percent of the doctors reported that they had ordered defensive procedures an average of 18 to 28 percent of the time. They also indicated they had ordered hospitalizations about 13 percent of the time to avoid potential lawsuits. The MMS estimates that the excess procedures cost the state at least $1.4 billion a year, and the group believes that amount is an underestimate due to only 46 percent of doctors in the state participating in the survey (Gulla, 2008).
