Justice Floral Distribution And A Disaster Recovery Plan...
Justice Floral Distribution has successfully been in business for 2 years now. To insure that the
company remains successful we need to create a disaster plan. It has recently come to my attention
that we do not have one and it is crucial that we create one as soon as possible. In case of an
unforeseen event, which can bring our production to a halt our company needs to recover as rapidly as
possible to continue its services to its clients. Not having a disaster recovery plan in place can put the
company at risk of high financial costs, reputation loss and even greater risks to our employees.
Purpose
We need to be prepared in case of an emergency, whether it is a natural disaster, network outages,
active shooter events, data breaches and more. While doing research, I came upon two other types of
plans that are also essential. They are a business continuity plan and a disaster recovery plan.
According to Business Continuity Institute, Business Continuity is: The strategic and tactical
capability of the organization to plan for and respond to incidents and business disruptions in order to
continue business operations at an acceptable predefined level.
In other words, having a Business Continuity Plan ensures that the company is prepared to continue
business procedures after an unforeseen event. This would mean that our employees, building,
contracts, and infrastructure would be able to continue to operate in the event of any type of
disruption.

Law Enforcement Of The Police Officer
The amount of effort that is required by law enforcement to persuade compliance by an unwilling
subject is a description of use of force. There is not just one definition for use of force. A majority of
the law enforcement agencies carry policies that define their use of force. Included in these policies is
the actions that an officer can have to undertake in a situation. Whenever an officer has to use force,
they need to understand and know what the appropriate force needed at the time. To help guide the
officers, agencies have a Use of Force Continuum. They must take the continuum one step at a time.
One officer, in the appropriate situation, may jump steps and end up on the bottom of the continuum.
The steps start out as officer presence, verbalization, and empty hand control. Then the less lethal
methods and lethal force. Officer presence is the ideal force to use in a situation to get it resolved. This
step in the continuum uses no force at all. The existence of the police officer being there usually works
to prevent crime from happening or continuing. Usually the presence of the law enforcement officer
embraces the uniform and marked vehicle. If an officer presents himself or herself in a manner that is
professional and without an attitude, the officer presence will be enough. Although some criminals do
not care whether the police officer has a nonthreatening attitude, the officer should always try using no
force at all. After officer presence is employed and it

Exploitation Of Women In Advertising Research Paper
The exploitation of women in Ads
What are the dangers for the companies to use such types of ads? What are the different reactions of
men and women to this kind of ads ?
Introduction
The exploitation of women in the media has been part of the advertising industry since its beginning,
although the level to which women have been exploited has changed drastically. Advertising is a
highly visible and seemingly controversial agent of socialization (Paff, Lakner, 1997). Indeed, it
appears everywhere in our lives, on television, on the internet, on busses, in our mailbox, in
magazines, and now in the toilets of our favourite restaurants or nightclubs. Jean Kilbourne, one of the
best known advocate of raising awareness about the exploitation of ... Show more content on

Advertising ideologically shapes our perceptions of beauty and strongly influences our ideas, attitudes
and values within one s culture. Advertisers achieve this powerful and direct communication through
signifying practices which gives meaning to words and images (Kang, 1997). For example, the
exploitation of women is most apparent in TV beer commercials, where the promise of sex and fun is
the norm (Hall, Crum, 1994). For example, the Swedish Bikini Team commercial for Old Milwaukee
beer. In this commercial, large breasted blond women wearing bikinis were portrayed as fun
companions brought in especially to party with very few men.. Through the exploitation of women in
advertisements, this oppression leads to social problems, such the development of eating disorders by
young women attempting to achieve the conditioned idea of the ideal image (Kang, 1997).
A lack of identification which creates negative attitudes
The notion that female products are sold from a male perspective is an important concept because it is
a form of systematic male oppression, that most are aware of, yet still support and surrender to, or at
the very most give minimal opposition. Visual images are especially important when influencing
women s buying behavior as most readers of advertisement look at the illustration, read the headline,
read the body copy, in that order (Kang, 1997). Although, several journal articles, like the

The Security Of Information Security
This document is only a brief synopsis of the ever expanding and demanding field of information
security. It contains explanations, screenshots or visual cues, and tips on multiple subjects such as
system defenses, reducing vulnerabilities, and the presence of malicious threats. Smaller areas, such as
vulnerability assessment and penetration testing, are also covered because they are very significant in
the security of information. While vulnerability assessment is a necessity, penetration testing is purely
an option to the security engineer.
What is Information Security ?
Information security is often defined as the security or assurance of information and it requires the
ability to maintain the authenticity of the information. The three common components of information
security are confidentiality, integrity, and availability and they form an essential base for the overall
picture of information security. Confidentiality is perhaps one of the most common aspects of
information security because any information that is withheld from the public within the intentions to
only allow access to authorized individuals is confidential. Encryption is often used to maintain the
confidentiality of information as encryption is one of multiple methods of access control and
Microsoft BitLocker is an example of access control encryption feature. Although TrueCrypt is no
longer a secure method of protecting data, I will discuss it further in the

How Did Tesla Contribute To Modern Society
Nikola Tesla: Inventor Of Modern Society
When Nikola Tesla was born, electricity was a mere theory. There were no light bulbs, lamps,
computers, cell phones, or any form of harnessed energy. Nevertheless, young Tesla had a great mind
that could envision all sorts of possibilities for this force. He invented the alternating current,
induction motor, Tesla coil, as well as laying the foundation for radio, neon lighting, remote control,
radar, and even cell phones. So why don t we think of Tesla as the true inventor of modern society?
Because while Tesla s mind was great, his skills as a businessman were not. Although Tesla was a
poor businessman, his inventions were the driving force behind industrial modernization.

A.K. Brown, from the Western Union, decided to invest in Tesla s AC theories. In a modest laboratory
not too far from Edison s offices, Tesla crafted the motors just as he imagined them. He had finally
been able to create the machine he had dreamed of for so long, but how would it fare against Edison s
generators? In late 1887, Tesla applied for seven patents affiliated with polyphase AC motors and
power transmission. His ideas were accepted and those inventions proved to be some of the most
valuable ever created. Soon after, a man by the name of George Westinghouse caught wind of Tesla s
incredible ideas. After meeting with Tesla, he purchased the patents for $60,000 dollars, plus he
agreed to pay $2.50 per horsepower of electrical capacity sold. The advancements from Tesla s patents
caused an industrial war to erupt. The future of electricity in the U.S. was at stake, as well as whether
Edison s DC or Westinghouse s AC would prevail as the central form of energy. It was around this
time that Edison began his rampage against alternating current. He told anyone who

Analysis Of Pinter s Night In Old Times
But Ellen, the central figure, is the most severely traumatic of all. Remote even from her memories,
she has entered into a state of mental separation in which the reality of her own thoughts becomes
doubtful: ELLEN: I sometimes wonder if I think. I heard somewhere about how many thoughts go
through the brain of a person. But I couldn t remember anything I d actually thought, for some time. It
isn t something that anyone could ever tell me, could ever reassure me about, nobody could tell, from
looking at me, what was happening. 6 The play Night opens with a disagreement between a husband
(represented by man ) and a wife (represented by woman ), as they try to recall the circumstances of
their first meeting. The man says, MAN: ON the bridge. We stopped and looked down at the river. It
was night. There were lamps lit on the towpath. We were alone. We looked up the river. I put my hand
on the small of your waist. Don t you remember? I put my hand under your coat. 7 Pinter s another
play Old Times deals mainly with the hidden recesses of mind of the character Kate. The whole play is
a complex web woven by Kate in her memory. In the words of John Bull, Old Times continued the
preoccupation with memory, but Beckettian minimalism was put aside as Pinter returned to his
characteristic mixed mode, involving dramatized planes of reality and the withholding of a clear
distinction between past and present. 8 Pinter s Old Times is clearly related to Landscape and Silence

A Short Horizon Model And The Relation Between The Stock...
In our analysis we used a short horizon model, meaning that we chose a window of 4 months before
the merger was announced and 4 months after the actual merger was completed, and studied the
security prices of the merging companies and their rivals over that time period. We then decided to use
a 3 day event window, CAR [ 1,1] first used by Andrade, Mitchell and Stafford (2001), in which the
event occurred on the 2nd day within that time frame. To do this, we used a market model to derive
the relationship between the stock price of the firms and our chosen index, the Standard and Poors
500. At this point we also examined changes in the R D intensity between companies that received a
second request and or complaint, and those that did not over the following 4 month period.
We then used regression analysis to elucidate the relationship between the different firms and the
reference index. Following this we then projected the normal returns using regression analysis for all
of the days which fell within the event window. We then took the expected returns and subtracted the
actual returns, and it was through this methodology that we could detect a relationship between
cumulative abnormal returns of the acquiror and the likelihood of receiving a second request. To
calculate the R D intensity, we take the cumulative R D for each firm in the 4 months prior to the
event and 4 months after the event and divide that by the their combined sales to reach a post merger

Ethical Behavior Is Important For The Welfare Of Society
Growing up we are taught by our parent about the law but ethics is something we pick up from our
environment and our peers. Ethical behavior is important for the welfare of society as a whole. What
we can and cannot do is inherently instilled in us from a very young age. In today s competitive
market, ethics is one of the most important aspects to business development. Business decisions are
implemented with a right and wrong mentality. To a business ethics is an instrument used to exam
principles and morals in a business environment because something for example polluting the
environment may be legal but is it moral for a company to do so? Therefore, business ethics helps to

The stakeholder approach is intended to provide a flexible way for managers to match these interests.
This approach helps management anticipate future elements and develop plans to combat any
problems that might occur. Stakeholders are also concerned with the survival of their company. So for
a company to be successful, stakeholders must implement a course of action that positively affects
themselves and their community.
Werther mentions that the stakeholder approach enables firms to respond to the dominant trends in
society today globalization, rapidly evolving communication technologies, and ever increasing
expectations of social goals beyond profit maximization (Werther, 2011, p.34.). Here he explains the
importance of generating profits but also explains the benefits that come from maximizing a company
s profits.
Another author calls attention to the importance of investing in the relationships with those who have
a stake in the firm. The stability of these relationships depends on the sharing of core principles and
values. This approach allows management to incorporate their personal values into the implementation
of strategic plans. Schendel describes this relationship by answering the question What do we stand
for? The stakeholder approach emphasizes the importance of developing a strategy but leaving the

Authenticity And Cover Song Analysis
The theory of authorship often challenge the ideals of authenticity, especially within the context of
cover songs. This is due to the fact that the composer of the song is a separate entity from the
performer. Society has often valued composer performers as it has been encoded in culture within the
past century. the attempt to understand the past in terms of the past is paradoxically an absolutely
contemporary phenomenon. Authenticity is a historically specific abstraction and therefore, will
continuously be subjected to reconsiderations as our societal construction of authenticity changes
through time. A cover version is seemingly an art form that contains a thin line that dictates the

Sincerity therefore emerges as an intrinsic factor within the concepts of both authorship and
authenticity. Sincerity and autobiography are techniques one can employ in the service of personal
authenticity, just as using traditional instruments and singing old songs are techniques one can use in
the service of cultural authenticity. The guitar solo proposes an interesting interaction with the rock
genre and a possible reference to the version of Word Up performed by the rock band, Gun. While this
is not the same solo included in Gun s version, it is similar in construction and tone thus
demonstrating and evolution of the piece as it is passes through each artist s rendition. As a result of
this, Little Mix have provided an authentic essence of a previous rendition within the style of rock
while maintaining the songs original pop based anthem sound. Through this analysis, it is apparent
that compositions, even within the composer s mind are rarely concrete and alterations through time
are inevitable. The notion of authenticity can consequently be challenged as society endeavours to find
that which is

3 SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Sustainable development is at the heart of the National Planning Policy Framework of 2012, and is
defined as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to
meet their own needs. Sustainable development includes three key pillars social, environmental and
economic, however in reality these issues often overlap and do not fit directly into one category
(Hopwood, Mellor and O Brien, 2005).
To ensure the concept of sustainable development is integrated into development plans, a
Sustainability Appraisal (SA) shall be conducted which requires that economic, environmental and
social matters are taken into account (Adur District Council, 2011). This integration will ensure that
future development meets the needs of local people whilst ensuring a healthy economy and
environment.

How Does Dave Eggers Create A Dystopian Society
Utopias tend to capture an idealistic view of a society. Complete perfection is impossible; it creates a
system that is inherently imperfect causing utopias to turn into dystopias. The advancement of
technology has created a dystopian ideal of society in which the agency of privacy is challenged. Dave
Eggers novel The Circle depicts a society where individuals have capitalized on the idea of a
technologically controlled world. Mae, the protagonist in the novel slowly becomes an icon of the
digital age. Eggers asserts of the dangers of living in a technological utopian society through the use
of character development. In The Circle, Dave Eggers uses Mae s gradual conversion in order to
describe her as the paragon of a transparent society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mae s eventual desire to make everything transparent is one of Eggers underlying messages. After her
Kayaking trip, Mae engages in a conversation with Bailey who asks her if she wants to share with the
public what she was doing earlier. She replies by saying, You give them anything you can. If you care
about their plight, their suffering, their curiosity, their right to learn and know anything the world
contains, you share with them. You share what you have and what you see and what you know. To me,
the logic there is undeniable. Egger uses Mae s drastic change into a less private person as the central
point in his assertion. Mae s character development explains the changes in a society that is becoming
transparent. She was more vigilant with what she made public. Soon, she begins to feed off the Circle
s ideas of transparency eventually joining SeeChange. Seechange is a form of program that utilizes

The Revolution Of The 1911 Revolution
Introduction
There are two historical event scholars believes can be treated as milestone: 1911 revolution, which
brings an end to the two thousand year of monarchy and the May fourth movement which were carried
out by students in Beijing protesting against the unfair treatment. This paper will make the argument
that the May fourth movement was more important than the 1911 revolution. The May fourth
movement is the defining event that marked the passage from a tradition based society to modernity in
twentieth century Chinese history. The May Fourth Movements was a significant turning point in
Chinese history challenging traditional Chinese values.

the Nation by people in both the People s Republic of China, and the Republic of China (Taiwan). Sun
Yat sen was in the United States when the 1911 revolution broke out at Wuchang on October, 10,
1911. Caught off guard, Sun missed the rebellion that brought down the child emperor, Puyi, and
ended the imperial period of Chinese history. As soon as he heard that the Qing Dynasty had fallen,
Sun raced back to China, elected the provisional president of the new born Republic of China months
later.
FIRST REVOULTION OF 20TH CENTURY
The 1911 revolution was the first revolution to occur in China in the twentieth century. The 1911
Revolution was a revolution that overthrew China s last imperial dynasty, the Qing Dynasty, it put an
end to the centuries old traditional system and created one of the first Republic of China. The goal of
the revolution was to unite China, to throw off imperialist oppression and humiliation, and to build an
advanced, modern country. The revolution began when an agreement was signed April 5, 1911 with a
four power group of foreign bankers for the construction of lines on the Hukwang Railway in central
China. There were several chain of events immediately leading to the revolution were China had been

Based on one customer s review in Stop and Shop blog, the scanner system sometimes scan a product
twice or does not scan (Wandzilak, 2008). In our system, if the scanning result and the weight of the
product in the cart does not match, the system can tell through a message in the screen. Our system is
also equipped with a security gate which prevent people from leaving the store without paying.
Although RFID technology is implemented, this technology cannot tell whether the shoppers have
paid or not since as long as the shoppers have scanned the products, the magnetic chips on the
products are deactivated. So, security gate will give extra security to our customer. Also, a Stop and
Shop s customer complained about the high product price (due to the implementation of high scanner
technology) (Wandzilak, 2008). In our case, as we will sell a system globally to many stores, we have
the advantage of economic of scale that makes our system cheaper than their s (competitive price).
Additionally, we are going to use RFID system at the exit gate as well for the security reason (to avoid
shop lifting). Figure 2. How a Customer Shops in the Stop and Shop Grocery Store (Wandzilak, 2008)

Lesbian Identity Politics and Associated Organizations Essay
Identity politics were a major part of social reform in the Sixties and Seventies. Yet, the advent of
identity politic reform originates in the Fifties, a decade that saw the African American Civil Rights
Movement start to gain momentum. On the heels of the Civil Rights movement, we also see the
Women s Liberation Movement begin to gain steam, shortly thereafter followed by the Gay Liberation
Movement. And as an offshoot of these reform movements, we observe the dawn of lesbian identity
politics a movement very much its own amongst its predecessors. One sect would come to be coined
the lavender menace of feminism a group of mostly Caucasian lesbians followed later by the black
lesbian feminist group, The Combahee River Collective. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After delivering the food, and being understandably annoyed with the task, she was belittled by a male
protestor who would have her as a sexual reward for sitting in. Black feminists, such as those in the
Combahee River Collective, experienced very similar discrimination in Civil Rights campaigns,
especially groups like the Black Panthers. Just like Jay, many African American women were used as
sexual remuneration to men who did good work within their organizations. This patriarchy, antithetic
to the goals of feminism, was the undoubted enemy of both these lesbian organizations usurping it
became one clear goal. The Combahee River Collective, though, did not feel separate from African
American men concerning race, yet, felt doubly oppressed by white patriarchy. Understanding that
they connected with black men racially, yet struggled with them sexually, almost supplements the idea
that white men who controlled government and economy were the ultimate oppressor. They did not
feel they were separate, but rather, just opposed to black men along patriarchal lines. Inversely, the
Collective connected with white lesbians against patriarchy, but were subjected to hierarchy within
feminism as well as lesbianism. Secondly, we see that if well known reformists were not male, they
were heterosexual, the epitome being Betty Friedan. This was the reason for the more specific goal of
the two groups: battling hierarchy in addition to

Identity In The 19th Century
IDENTITY CRISIS IN SELECT NOVELS OF SALMAN RUSHDIE The question of identity is the
most controversial issue in postcolonial time and literature and it can be regarded the most important
because of its crisis exist in all postcolonial communities. Due to the circumstances of post colonial
era and the problematic conditions that faced newly freed nations and countries in their search and
formation of self identity the crisis floated on the surface. In the following of World War II, the act of
decolonization and libration of nations under colonial rule provoked a noteworthy move in the
direction of recreating social and individual identities. The period also marked by the struggle of
decolonization in all the levels of life, culture, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the identity is not a stable and fixed notion as Hall confirms ―Identity emerges as a kind of
unsettled space or an unresolved question in that space, between a number of intersecting discourses
and the impact of colonial legacy was multi dimensional besides there was a different consequences of
colonialism in different locations, the issue of identity appeared in different shapes and forms.
Collective and individual identities also differ physically and psychologically. The resistance of
decolonization process took various outlines due to countries, societies and individuals. Therefore,
identity is not simply imposed. It is also chosen, and actively used, albeit within particular social
contexts and constraints. Against dominant representations of others there is resistance. Within
structures of dominance, there is agency.
Identity crisis is the major suffering of the many people in the present day world. It is quite natural
every one thinks of their own identity to grow themselves with self respect. Afro American, British
and Indian every writer nowadays focused their writings keeping in the mind the sense of identity.
There is no exception to the writer like Salman Rushdie. His novels also reflect the question of
identity and explore the philosophical significance of ideals and concepts.

The Blogging Industry and Its Revenue Models
The blogging industry has a unique structure. Blogging software, such as TypePad, WordPress or
Blogger (Google) typically does not generate its own revenue. WordPress is open source but sells
advertising and has private feature options for pay, TypePad is a paid subscription service, and
Blogger is usually free but provides a platform for Google to sell advertising space via their AdSense
software (Zibreg, 2009). Tumblr appears to rely on financing rather than income at the moment, not
having a sophisticated revenue generation model. Thus, four major firms all have different revenue
models. This creates a unique internal dynamic in the industry, where all players pursue bloggers to
use their platforms but all seek to monetize this traffic in different ways.
The external environment of the blogging industry is generally positive. The industry is rapidly
growing, with all three major blogging platforms among the leading websites in the world by traffic
volume. Blogspot.com (Blogger) is ranked #8 by Alexa, WordPress #18, Tumblr # 37, Blogger.com
#44 and TypePad #250 (Alexa.com, 2012). With this strength has come a shift in the way that blogs
are used. Today, the emphasis in the blogging industry is on corporate blogs that can attract eyeballs
and gain hits for client websites (Singha, 2011). Corporations employ professional content writers to
manage their blogs, whereas blogging in the beginning was a more organic, consumer driven function
(Ibid). This shift provides more

Gdp Per Capita As An Indicator Of Standard Of Living
GDP per Capita As an indicator of standard of living GDP per capita is the market value of the final
goods and services produced in a country during a given period per person (McDowell et al. 2012).
This could also be explained as a measure of quantity of goods and services available to a typical
resident of the country at a particular period. GDP per capita is used as an indicator of standard of
living because it reflects the accessibility of goods and services to a person. GPD counts only the
goods and services that have market value but they are just one of the measures of standard of living.
There are many other factors that affects standard of living and do not contribute to GDP, e.g.
environmental quality and leisure time (McDowell et al. 2012). China has been facing serious
ecological problem (e.g. water and air quality) while its economic grows. Nonetheless, environmental
quality cannot be bought or sold in the market, the issue is not demonstrated in China s GDP. Other
than that, leisure time available to a person can affect his standard of living. The person is better off if
he can enjoy more leisure activity. But leisure time is not priced in market, and it does not give a rise
in GDP. Another problem of using GDP per capita is that it neglects purchasing power. Table 1 Real

The Prophet Muhammad Of The Islamic Faith
A person whose character has played a major role in history and continues to influence people
worldwide is the Prophet Muhammad, the last prophet in the Islamic faith. There are many
misconceptions about Muhammad, but if you were to ask any Muslim living now or at his time for
one fact about him, they would tell you that he was a man of character. Even before given revelation
from God through Angel Gabriel, Muhammad was known through Mecca as the Truthful and the
Trustworthy. He was born an orphan and was brought up by family relatives. Muhammad s character
shows his endurance through the toughest of times. As Islam spread, more and more people converted
simply because they were mesmerized by Muhammad s character. He didn t just preach the religion,
he actually lived it. Three major characteristics of the Prophet Muhammad were that he was kind,
loving, and patient. Muhammad was a known for his kindness, making him someone people could
confide in and trust. One example of when the Prophet Muhammad demonstrated kindness was the
story about his neighbor. There was once a woman who lived next door to Muhammad. This woman
was cruel and would dump trash on his doorstep every day. The trash would cut and bruise his bare
feet, but he never complained to her. One morning, there was no trash on Muhammad s doorstep. The
Prophet became concerned and went next door. He was told that she was very ill. Saddened by this, he
went home and returned to his neighbor s house with

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Obama s First Lady Michelle Obama
First Lady Michelle Obama has always been one known for her inspiring speeches and her
commitment to women s rights. In Manchester, New Hampshire, she is seen once again standing up
for women and for this country by opening the public s eyes to disrespect Donald Trump has shown
for us. Throughout the entire speech the three rhetorical appeals of pathos, ethos, and logos, are all
used effectively and powerfully to get her message across. She mainly targets the audience of
empowered women but she also addresses the effect that voting for Donald Trump will have for men

reinstated the ideas and belief that we need our nation to uphold, and by electing Donald Trump those
beliefs will not be held. Ethos is strongly seen throughout her entire speech along with the other two
rhetorical appeals. The last rhetorical appeal to look at in Michelle Obama s speech is the appeal of
logos. When looking at logos the audience sees the logical side of the argument. Logos is one of the
strongest appeals used in this presidential campaign speech. The best way to make a campaign speech
is to use the logical example the audience can relate to and Michelle Obama perfectly represents that.

Fools Crow Analysis
The novel, Fools Crow, was written by James Welch as a Native American narrative set in 1870. It
followed the evolution of White Man s Dog, later known as Fools Crow, an adolescent Pikunis
Blackfeet Indian from the band Lone Eaters, who yearned to become wealthy and honored. An
opportunity to attain the respect he desired emerged when Fast Horse and Yellow Kidney invited him
along to a horse raid against the Crow despite his reputation for misfortune. While on their journey to
Crow camp, Fast Horse disclosed a dream where Cold Maker instructed him to clear their water
source and bring him two bull robes for his daughters in exchange for a successful invasion. White
Man s Dog also had a recurring dream of women sleeping in a lodge, who awoke with lust in their
eyes, but it ended as he moved toward them. He was uncertain of the meaning though he knew that
there was danger in that direction (pg. 18), and he chose to withhold its possible significance from his
fellow warriors. White Man s Dog was chosen to lead the capturing of horses, and kills a Crow guard
who detected the warriors. The group believed Yellow Kidney was killed so they returned home, and
White Man s Dog was praised for his role, but Fast Horse became isolated as dreams suggested an
unfinished duty to Cold Maker. Yellow Kidney returned missing several fingers and explained his
experience in captivity after he was found taking refuge in a lodge. White Man s Dog recognized the

Terrorism Is Defined As The Calculated Use Of Violence...
Terrorism is defined as the calculated use of violence against civilians in order to attain goals that are
political or religious or ideological in nature. History shows, furthermore, that terrorism was by no
means the exclusive domain of the revolutionary left and that it had been exercised at least as often by
the extreme right fascist, or proto fascist movements (Laqueur 10). Terrorism dates back as far as we
can remember, but it has been so spread throughout history and not always active that the idea was
frequently ignored. As it pops up again and again throughout history people have a, tendency to regard
it as a new phenomenon (Laqueur 7), because it would be so inactive for long periods of time. The
Taliban rose up from Mujahedeen groups that came from villages in southern Qandahar and refugee
camps in Pakistan. Hit operations, military ambushes, bombings, secret kidnappings, and terrorism
became a routine part of some Mujahedeen groups (Nojumi 26). These tactics eventually led to the
Taliban taking control of the Afghan government. The political rise of the Taliban was regarded as a
phenomenon. While in control the Taliban created a Transit Treaty between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Under this treaty an illegal smuggling network was established. This illegal network created an
artificial system that could never establish a stable national economy. The poor economic condition of

laws say those who committed crimes against minors cannot live with children. (TENN. CODE ANN.

son, daughter in law, and grandchildren. He was kicked out of his house; therefore, he filed a lawsuit

Judge Seth Norman ruled in 2013 that the law s ban on residing with a minor did not include the

the retroactive application of the sex offender registry laws, including those restrictions on contact

laws cannot retroactively enact punishment for previously legal

The Reformative Speech On Waterfowl Hunting
The informative speech tends to be one of my personal favorites when it comes to publically
performing the speech in front of a group of peers. This speech tends to be one of my particular
favorites due to the fact that if you are going to be presenting it, you should be the one who knows the
most about the topic and should be delivering it in a fashion in which your peers find interesting. Even
if the topic itself isn t a very popular topic you as a presenter should be able to make connections to
the audience during this time which makes them very intrigued with your topic and maybe even
considering further research in that area
When asked to pick a topic for this speech for a while it left me bewildered, and I had a lot of
difficulty picking a topic until I heard the first few speech s, Once I realized that my classmates were

the south shore of Long Island have houses built right on the shore line, so hearing shotguns blasting
off at ducks tends to scare people at 6:30 AM, So after dropping the blind so that the officer can look
in our boat to check that we have all the proper equipment, and safety precautions taken, Until I

Rion Amalcar Scott s The Etiquette Of Police Brutality
Patrick and Hall in In Defense of Self and Others write, If effective law enforcement is to be
maintained, the race must not be to the swift. The fleeing criminal, regardless of his offense, must be
considered the author of his own misfortune. Policemen only use force in response to the situation
they are in. Day to day Police men and women have to make difficult choices. The decisions they
make often lead to controversy. Two sides are then created. On one side, there are people that believe
police are bullies that do as they wish; the other side believes officers act as they see fit and do the
best they can to keep the public out of harm s way. The Etiquette of Police Brutality by Rion Amalcar

He also starts with how he read about cases of police brutality that mostly involved Black and Brown
suspects. This informative piece s purpose is to show how police officers continue to use excessive
force without consequences. With the recent number of police shootings involving black Americans,
Scott sees police as bullies that do whatever necessary to get their way, so he uses the text to show
them in that light. The few statistics that Scott uses are from credible sources, but the rest of the
writing is purely anecdotal. He relies almost entirely on emotional appeals. In many of the above
cases, such as the Chamberlain case, police were cleared of any wrongdoing or faced relatively light
or unspecified punishments, a situation that I imagine leaves police feeling comfortable in deploying
any act of violence in their toolbox, no matter how reckless, if it leaves them standing when all the
smoke from the gunfire has cleared. However, for much of the populace, that knot in their chests when
a squad car sidles up next to them in traffic is the twinge of sheer terror. Scott does not do much to set
up how credible he is in the text. Without using facts and evidence or speaking from personal
experience, Scott s writing lacks ethos. However, Scott s writing does do a good job in showing
officers in a completely different light than how Bolgiano portrays them. When assessing a law

first puzzled archaeologists (Syed, 2009). While each soldier had apparently died in combat, they bore
no marks to suggest violence was the cause and it was not until the unearthing of bitumen and sulphur
crystals nearby that asphyxiation was considered (University of Leicester, 2009). When bitumen and
sulphur are burned together, they create dense clouds of choking gasses (University of Leicester,

Michael Klare Blood And Oil Summary
Michael Klare s Blood and Oil Michael Klare has written an interesting and very relevant book,
dealing as it does with the politics of oil, US foreign policy, the Middle East, and the causes of
terrorism. He writes with a clear purpose and that is to argue that America s securitization of oil and its
willingness to use military force in order to secure its supplies of oil have been a major mistake. His
main argument is that ever since the meeting on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
foreign policy in the Middle East and the oceans of crude oil that lie beneath the region s soil. Klare
traces oil s impact on international affairs since World War II, revealing its influence on the Truman,
Eisenhower, Nixon, and Carter doctrines. He shows how America s own wells are drying up as our
demand increases; by 2010, the United States will need to import sixty percent of its oil. Since most of
this supply will have to come from violently anti American zones, our dependency is bound to lead to
recurrent military involvement. Ultimately, the cost of oil will be measured in blood: the blood of
American soldiers who die in combat, the blood of the many other casualties of oil related violence,
including the victims of terrorism. Klare believes that if America does not reduce its dependency on
imported oil it will have to increase its military presence in the Middle East, stationing permanent
garrisons in countries like Iraq and facing the need to take further measures to support the Saudi
Arabian regime and possible action in central Asian countries like Kazakhstan. He believes that the
US military budget will therefore have to increase if the current policies remain in place, and claims
that, the American military is being used more and more for the protection of overseas oil fields and

  • 2. Justice Floral Distribution And A Disaster Recovery Plan... Justice Floral Distribution has successfully been in business for 2 years now. To insure that the company remains successful we need to create a disaster plan. It has recently come to my attention that we do not have one and it is crucial that we create one as soon as possible. In case of an unforeseen event, which can bring our production to a halt our company needs to recover as rapidly as possible to continue its services to its clients. Not having a disaster recovery plan in place can put the company at risk of high financial costs, reputation loss and even greater risks to our employees. Purpose We need to be prepared in case of an emergency, whether it is a natural disaster, network outages, active shooter events, data breaches and more. While doing research, I came upon two other types of plans that are also essential. They are a business continuity plan and a disaster recovery plan. According to Business Continuity Institute, Business Continuity is: The strategic and tactical capability of the organization to plan for and respond to incidents and business disruptions in order to continue business operations at an acceptable predefined level. In other words, having a Business Continuity Plan ensures that the company is prepared to continue business procedures after an unforeseen event. This would mean that our employees, building, contracts, and infrastructure would be able to continue to operate in the event of any type of disruption. Disaster Recovery on ... • 3. Law Enforcement Of The Police Officer The amount of effort that is required by law enforcement to persuade compliance by an unwilling subject is a description of use of force. There is not just one definition for use of force. A majority of the law enforcement agencies carry policies that define their use of force. Included in these policies is the actions that an officer can have to undertake in a situation. Whenever an officer has to use force, they need to understand and know what the appropriate force needed at the time. To help guide the officers, agencies have a Use of Force Continuum. They must take the continuum one step at a time. One officer, in the appropriate situation, may jump steps and end up on the bottom of the continuum. The steps start out as officer presence, verbalization, and empty hand control. Then the less lethal methods and lethal force. Officer presence is the ideal force to use in a situation to get it resolved. This step in the continuum uses no force at all. The existence of the police officer being there usually works to prevent crime from happening or continuing. Usually the presence of the law enforcement officer embraces the uniform and marked vehicle. If an officer presents himself or herself in a manner that is professional and without an attitude, the officer presence will be enough. Although some criminals do not care whether the police officer has a nonthreatening attitude, the officer should always try using no force at all. After officer presence is employed and it ... • 4. Exploitation Of Women In Advertising Research Paper The exploitation of women in Ads What are the dangers for the companies to use such types of ads? What are the different reactions of men and women to this kind of ads ? Introduction The exploitation of women in the media has been part of the advertising industry since its beginning, although the level to which women have been exploited has changed drastically. Advertising is a highly visible and seemingly controversial agent of socialization (Paff, Lakner, 1997). Indeed, it appears everywhere in our lives, on television, on the internet, on busses, in our mailbox, in magazines, and now in the toilets of our favourite restaurants or nightclubs. Jean Kilbourne, one of the best known advocate of raising awareness about the exploitation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Advertising ideologically shapes our perceptions of beauty and strongly influences our ideas, attitudes and values within one s culture. Advertisers achieve this powerful and direct communication through signifying practices which gives meaning to words and images (Kang, 1997). For example, the exploitation of women is most apparent in TV beer commercials, where the promise of sex and fun is the norm (Hall, Crum, 1994). For example, the Swedish Bikini Team commercial for Old Milwaukee beer. In this commercial, large breasted blond women wearing bikinis were portrayed as fun companions brought in especially to party with very few men.. Through the exploitation of women in advertisements, this oppression leads to social problems, such the development of eating disorders by young women attempting to achieve the conditioned idea of the ideal image (Kang, 1997). A lack of identification which creates negative attitudes The notion that female products are sold from a male perspective is an important concept because it is a form of systematic male oppression, that most are aware of, yet still support and surrender to, or at the very most give minimal opposition. Visual images are especially important when influencing women s buying behavior as most readers of advertisement look at the illustration, read the headline, read the body copy, in that order (Kang, 1997). Although, several journal articles, like the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Security Of Information Security This document is only a brief synopsis of the ever expanding and demanding field of information security. It contains explanations, screenshots or visual cues, and tips on multiple subjects such as system defenses, reducing vulnerabilities, and the presence of malicious threats. Smaller areas, such as vulnerability assessment and penetration testing, are also covered because they are very significant in the security of information. While vulnerability assessment is a necessity, penetration testing is purely an option to the security engineer. What is Information Security ? Information security is often defined as the security or assurance of information and it requires the ability to maintain the authenticity of the information. The three common components of information security are confidentiality, integrity, and availability and they form an essential base for the overall picture of information security. Confidentiality is perhaps one of the most common aspects of information security because any information that is withheld from the public within the intentions to only allow access to authorized individuals is confidential. Encryption is often used to maintain the confidentiality of information as encryption is one of multiple methods of access control and Microsoft BitLocker is an example of access control encryption feature. There were no light bulbs, lamps, computers, cell phones, or any form of harnessed energy. Nevertheless, young Tesla had a great mind that could envision all sorts of possibilities for this force. He invented the alternating current, induction motor, Tesla coil, as well as laying the foundation for radio, neon lighting, remote control, radar, and even cell phones. So why don t we think of Tesla as the true inventor of modern society? Because while Tesla s mind was great, his skills as a businessman were not. Brown, from the Western Union, decided to invest in Tesla s AC theories. In a modest laboratory not too far from Edison s offices, Tesla crafted the motors just as he imagined them. He had finally been able to create the machine he had dreamed of for so long, but how would it fare against Edison s generators? In late 1887, Tesla applied for seven patents affiliated with polyphase AC motors and power transmission. His ideas were accepted and those inventions proved to be some of the most valuable ever created. Soon after, a man by the name of George Westinghouse caught wind of Tesla s incredible ideas. After meeting with Tesla, he purchased the patents for $60,000 dollars, plus he agreed to pay $2.50 per horsepower of electrical capacity sold. The advancements from Tesla s patents caused an industrial war to erupt. I heard somewhere about how many thoughts go through the brain of a person. But I couldn t remember anything I d actually thought, for some time. It isn t something that anyone could ever tell me, could ever reassure me about, nobody could tell, from looking at me, what was happening. 6 The play Night opens with a disagreement between a husband (represented by man ) and a wife (represented by woman ), as they try to recall the circumstances of their first meeting. The man says, MAN: ON the bridge. We stopped and looked down at the river. It was night. There were lamps lit on the towpath. We were alone. We looked up the river. The whole play is a complex web woven by Kate in her memory. In the words of John Bull, Old Times continued the preoccupation with memory, but Beckettian minimalism was put aside as Pinter returned to his characteristic mixed mode, involving dramatized planes of reality and the withholding of a clear distinction between past and present. 8 Pinter s Old Times is clearly related to Landscape and Silence by ... • 9. A Short Horizon Model And The Relation Between The Stock... In our analysis we used a short horizon model, meaning that we chose a window of 4 months before the merger was announced and 4 months after the actual merger was completed, and studied the security prices of the merging companies and their rivals over that time period. We then decided to use a 3 day event window, CAR [ 1,1] first used by Andrade, Mitchell and Stafford (2001), in which the event occurred on the 2nd day within that time frame. To do this, we used a market model to derive the relationship between the stock price of the firms and our chosen index, the Standard and Poors 500. At this point we also examined changes in the R D intensity between companies that received a second request and or complaint, and those that did not over the following 4 month period. We then used regression analysis to elucidate the relationship between the different firms and the reference index. Following this we then projected the normal returns using regression analysis for all of the days which fell within the event window. We then took the expected returns and subtracted the actual returns, and it was through this methodology that we could detect a relationship between cumulative abnormal returns of the acquiror and the likelihood of receiving a second request. To calculate the R D intensity, we take the cumulative R D for each firm in the 4 months prior to the event and 4 months after the event and divide that by the their combined sales to reach a post merger research and ... • 25. The Blogging Industry and Its Revenue Models The blogging industry has a unique structure. Blogging software, such as TypePad, WordPress or Blogger (Google) typically does not generate its own revenue. WordPress is open source but sells advertising and has private feature options for pay, TypePad is a paid subscription service, and Blogger is usually free but provides a platform for Google to sell advertising space via their AdSense software (Zibreg, 2009). Tumblr appears to rely on financing rather than income at the moment, not having a sophisticated revenue generation model. Thus, four major firms all have different revenue models. This creates a unique internal dynamic in the industry, where all players pursue bloggers to use their platforms but all seek to monetize this traffic in different ways. The external environment of the blogging industry is generally positive. The industry is rapidly growing, with all three major blogging platforms among the leading websites in the world by traffic volume. Blogspot.com (Blogger) is ranked #8 by Alexa, WordPress #18, Tumblr # 37, Blogger.com #44 and TypePad #250 (Alexa.com, 2012). With this strength has come a shift in the way that blogs are used. Today, the emphasis in the blogging industry is on corporate blogs that can attract eyeballs and gain hits for client websites (Singha, 2011). Corporations employ professional content writers to manage their blogs, whereas blogging in the beginning was a more organic, consumer driven function (Ibid). This shift provides more ... • 26. Gdp Per Capita As An Indicator Of Standard Of Living GDP per Capita As an indicator of standard of living GDP per capita is the market value of the final goods and services produced in a country during a given period per person (McDowell et al. 2012). This could also be explained as a measure of quantity of goods and services available to a typical resident of the country at a particular period. GDP per capita is used as an indicator of standard of living because it reflects the accessibility of goods and services to a person. GPD counts only the goods and services that have market value but they are just one of the measures of standard of living. There are many other factors that affects standard of living and do not contribute to GDP, e.g. environmental quality and leisure time (McDowell et al. 2012). China has been facing serious ecological problem (e.g. water and air quality) while its economic grows. Nonetheless, environmental quality cannot be bought or sold in the market, the issue is not demonstrated in China s GDP. Other than that, leisure time available to a person can affect his standard of living. The person is better off if he can enjoy more leisure activity. But leisure time is not priced in market, and it does not give a rise in GDP. Another problem of using GDP per capita is that it neglects purchasing power. Table 1 Real GDP per capita at 2013 (US$) Real GDP per capita based on PPP (US$) China 3583 11524 Japan 37573 35614 Japan : China 10.4 3.0 (The World Bank, 2015) Table 1 shows that real GDP per capita ... • 27. The Prophet Muhammad Of The Islamic Faith A person whose character has played a major role in history and continues to influence people worldwide is the Prophet Muhammad, the last prophet in the Islamic faith. There are many misconceptions about Muhammad, but if you were to ask any Muslim living now or at his time for one fact about him, they would tell you that he was a man of character. Even before given revelation from God through Angel Gabriel, Muhammad was known through Mecca as the Truthful and the Trustworthy. He was born an orphan and was brought up by family relatives. Muhammad s character shows his endurance through the toughest of times. As Islam spread, more and more people converted simply because they were mesmerized by Muhammad s character. He didn t just preach the religion, he actually lived it. Three major characteristics of the Prophet Muhammad were that he was kind, loving, and patient. Muhammad was a known for his kindness, making him someone people could confide in and trust. One example of when the Prophet Muhammad demonstrated kindness was the story about his neighbor. There was once a woman who lived next door to Muhammad. This woman was cruel and would dump trash on his doorstep every day. The trash would cut and bruise his bare feet, but he never complained to her. One morning, there was no trash on Muhammad s doorstep. The Prophet became concerned and went next door. He was told that she was very ill. Saddened by this, he went home and returned to his neighbor s house with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the entire speech the three rhetorical appeals of pathos, ethos, and logos, are all used effectively and powerfully to get her message across. Ethos is strongly seen throughout her entire speech along with the other two rhetorical appeals. The last rhetorical appeal to look at in Michelle Obama s speech is the appeal of logos. When looking at logos the audience sees the logical side of the argument. Logos is one of the strongest appeals used in this presidential campaign speech. It followed the evolution of White Man s Dog, later known as Fools Crow, an adolescent Pikunis Blackfeet Indian from the band Lone Eaters, who yearned to become wealthy and honored. An opportunity to attain the respect he desired emerged when Fast Horse and Yellow Kidney invited him along to a horse raid against the Crow despite his reputation for misfortune. While on their journey to Crow camp, Fast Horse disclosed a dream where Cold Maker instructed him to clear their water source and bring him two bull robes for his daughters in exchange for a successful invasion. White Man s Dog also had a recurring dream of women sleeping in a lodge, who awoke with lust in their eyes, but it ended as he moved toward them. He was uncertain of the meaning though he knew that there was danger in that direction (pg. 18), and he chose to withhold its possible significance from his fellow warriors. White Man s Dog was chosen to lead the capturing of horses, and kills a Crow guard who detected the warriors. The group believed Yellow Kidney was killed so they returned home, and White Man s Dog was praised for his role, but Fast Horse became isolated as dreams suggested an unfinished duty to Cold Maker. Yellow Kidney returned missing several fingers and explained his experience in captivity after he was found taking refuge in a lodge. White Man s Dog recognized the encounter with his earlier ... Terrorism is defined as the calculated use of violence against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature. History shows, furthermore, that terrorism was by no means the exclusive domain of the revolutionary left and that it had been exercised at least as often by the extreme right fascist, or proto fascist movements (Laqueur 10). Terrorism dates back as far as we can remember, but it has been so spread throughout history and not always active that the idea was frequently ignored. As it pops up again and again throughout history people have a, tendency to regard it as a new phenomenon (Laqueur 7), because it would be so inactive for long periods of time. The Taliban rose up from Mujahedeen groups that came from villages in southern Qandahar and refugee camps in Pakistan. Hit operations, military ambushes, bombings, secret kidnappings, and terrorism became a routine part of some Mujahedeen groups (Nojumi 26). These tactics eventually led to the Taliban taking control of the Afghan government. The political rise of the Taliban was regarded as a phenomenon. While in control the Taliban created a Transit Treaty between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Under this treaty an illegal smuggling network was established. This illegal network created an artificial system that could never establish a stable national economy. The fleeing criminal, regardless of his offense, must be considered the author of his own misfortune. Policemen only use force in response to the situation they are in. Day to day Police men and women have to make difficult choices. The decisions they make often lead to controversy. Two sides are then created. This informative piece s purpose is to show how police officers continue to use excessive force without consequences. With the recent number of police shootings involving black Americans, Scott sees police as bullies that do whatever necessary to get their way, so he uses the text to show them in that light. The few statistics that Scott uses are from credible sources, but the rest of the writing is purely anecdotal. He relies almost entirely on emotional appeals. In many of the above cases, such as the Chamberlain case, police were cleared of any wrongdoing or faced relatively light or unspecified punishments, a situation that I imagine leaves police feeling comfortable in deploying any act of violence in their toolbox, no matter how reckless, if it leaves them standing when all the smoke from the gunfire has cleared. However, for much of the populace, that knot in their chests when a squad car sidles up next to them in traffic is the twinge of sheer terror. Scott does not do much to set up how credible he is in the text. Without using facts and evidence or speaking from personal experience, Scott s writing lacks ethos. However, poison was only the beginning of modern tactics used in the ancient world. By 429 B.C., toxic fumes made up of sulphur were recorded as used in battle. Since most of this supply will have to come from violently anti American zones, our dependency is bound to lead to recurrent military involvement. Ultimately, the cost of oil will be measured in blood: the blood of American soldiers who die in combat, the blood of the many other casualties of oil related violence, including the victims of terrorism. Klare believes that if America does not reduce its dependency on imported oil it will have to increase its military presence in the Middle East, stationing permanent garrisons in countries like Iraq and facing the need to take further measures to support the Saudi Arabian regime and possible action in central Asian countries like Kazakhstan.
