Cybersquatting (also known as domain squatting), according to the United States federal law known as the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act, is registering, trafficking in, or using an Internet domain name with bad faith intent to profit from the goodwill of a trademark belonging to someone else. The cybersquatter then offers to sell the domain to the person or company who owns a trademark contained within the name at an inflated price.
The term is derived from "squatting", which is the act of occupying an abandoned or unoccupied space or building that the squatter does not own, rent, or otherwise have permission to use.

Ten Steps to Streamlining Your Fundraising SystemBlackbaud
The donor/prospect database sits at the heart of every nonprofit’s development operations. How you use it (or don’t!) directly impacts your daily work and, quite often, your overall fundraising success. Unfortunately, many of us find our database lacking. The good news is that the problem isn’t usually the software itself. The culprits are usually inefficient business practices and disorganized data – both especially common in the nonprofit sector. These are problems that can be solved! And it’s not rocket science, but you do need a plan. Luckily, we have one for you. The first step in getting more from any software is committing to the initial effort to improve it. Are you ready? Great! Where do you start? In this session, we’ll present a practical, actionable ten-step plan that will help you streamline your fundraising system and operations so they’ll more easily and accurately support your strategies.

Organizational Readiness for an Enterprise TaxonomyGary Carlson
Enterprise taxonomies cross organizational, system, and distribution boundaries. Crossing these boundaries presents real challenges to the taxonomist. Any omni-channel strategy or comprehensive portal project will need to address these challenges. Unfortunately, creating and managing the taxonomy itself is usually the least of the problems. Resourcing, organizational alignment, internal politics, and technology all impact the success of a taxonomy project. Identifying the risks and the organizational readiness for a taxonomy project can be a huge factor in the project success. Using real-world examples, this presentation highlights the types of problems that can torpedo a project and provides remedies that companies have used to make the taxonomy project (or more specifically, the omni-channel experience or intranet project) successful.
As part of your fundraising campaigns and online engagement, you likely collect many metrics and data points. But do you take the time to reflect on this data and use it to improve for next time? In this session, we’ll discuss metrics you can collect, share each other’s best practices for data collection processes, and demo dashboard tools that will help you see the big picture.
Building a Data Strategy Your C-Suite Will SupportReid Colson
Being a data leader in any industry is an advantage that creates measurable financial benefits. Many studies have shown this – I’ve seen them from Bain, McKinsey, MIT and more. Since most firms are measured on profit, getting good at making data driven decisions is a key to being competitive. You can't get there without a plan. That is where a data strategy comes in.
In speaking with ~300 firms who indicated that their organizations were effective in using data and analytics, McKinsey found that construction of a data strategy was the number one contributing factor to their success. Being good at using data to drive decisions creates a meaningful profit advantage and those who are leaders indicated that the number one driver of their success was their data strategy.
This presentation will cover what a data strategy is, how to construct one, and how to get buy in from your executive team. The author is a former Fortune 500 Chief Data Officer and has held senior data roles at Capital One and Markel.

Whether you are shopping around for a new association management system (AMS), looking to make a switch sometime in the future, or just curious about the steps involved, this webinar will answer all of your questions when it comes to data conversion.
Data conversion is paramount to the success of effectively implementing a new AMS. But if the process is not well-defined, it can negatively impact the integrity of the new system forever. And what good is a new system if it contains inconsistencies from the very beginning?
Aaron Beymer, Data Conversion Specialist at WebLink, will cover the strengths and weaknesses of a computer-programmed data conversion, common causes of increased complexity and cost, process recommendations and considerations to make when comparing technology partners' implementation offerings.
In this webinar you’ll learn:
- How to prepare your internal staff for the challenges ahead.
- The complexities and pitfalls that should be avoided, for a more seamless data conversion.
- How to set your organization up for success by gaining buy-in and documenting processes.
Revenue Operations centralizes the operational functions of all revenue focused groups across an org such as Marketing, Sales, and Customer Experience. Business Operations take this one step further and encompasses Product and internal operations groups such as Human Resources and Finance.
In this presentation, Joe Gelata reviews both models and how they can help increase alignment and effectiveness of teams across the organization:
- Delivering critical insights and business intelligence from across the business and market.
- Implementing process improvements to gain efficiency.
- Managing and integrating cross-function business technologies and data.
- Enabling employees and partners with knowledge and tools to do their jobs better.
Standards make it easier to create, share, and integrate data by making sure that there is a clear understanding of how the data are represented and that the data you receive are in a form that you expected. Data standards are the rules by which data are described and recorded. In order to share, exchange, and understand data, we must standardize the format as well as the meaning. Simply put, using standards makes using things easier. If different groups are using different data standards, combining data from multiple sources is difficult, if not impossible.

Understanding Globus Data Transfers with NetSageGlobus
NetSage is an open privacy-aware network measurement, analysis, and visualization service designed to help end-users visualize and reason about large data transfers. NetSage traditionally has used a combination of passive measurements, including SNMP and flow data, as well as active measurements, mainly perfSONAR, to provide longitudinal network performance data visualization. It has been deployed by dozens of networks world wide, and is supported domestically by the Engagement and Performance Operations Center (EPOC), NSF #2328479. We have recently expanded the NetSage data sources to include logs for Globus data transfers, following the same privacy-preserving approach as for Flow data. Using the logs for the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) as an example, this talk will walk through several different example use cases that NetSage can answer, including: Who is using Globus to share data with my institution, and what kind of performance are they able to achieve? How many transfers has Globus supported for us? Which sites are we sharing the most data with, and how is that changing over time? How is my site using Globus to move data internally, and what kind of performance do we see for those transfers? What percentage of data transfers at my institution used Globus, and how did the overall data transfer performance compare to the Globus users?

Exploring Innovations in Data Repository Solutions - Insights from the U.S. G...Globus
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has made substantial investments in meeting evolving scientific, technical, and policy driven demands on storing, managing, and delivering data. As these demands continue to grow in complexity and scale, the USGS must continue to explore innovative solutions to improve its management, curation, sharing, delivering, and preservation approaches for large-scale research data. Supporting these needs, the USGS has partnered with the University of Chicago-Globus to research and develop advanced repository components and workflows leveraging its current investment in Globus. The primary outcome of this partnership includes the development of a prototype enterprise repository, driven by USGS Data Release requirements, through exploration and implementation of the entire suite of the Globus platform offerings, including Globus Flow, Globus Auth, Globus Transfer, and Globus Search. This presentation will provide insights into this research partnership, introduce the unique requirements and challenges being addressed and provide relevant project progress.
