Arab Dichotomy
The dichotomy of historical events, personalities and concepts are central to devising a sense of
both triumph and tragedy, varying in perspective for the individuals and groups directly
involved. The creation of the state of Israel accommodates this dichotomy, in which the event
can simply be recognised as a success for the Jewish people whose religious land was regained,
and a calamity for the Arab Palestinians who became displaced refugees as a result. Since the
inception of the Israeli nation state in 1948, religious and political difference have played a major
role in bringing about the Arab Israeli conflict. The dominance of the Jewish people, driven by
religious and cultural ties to the land following their Diaspora, has seen the formation of Israelas a
short term social triumph. However, the resultant dispossession of Arab refugees in the elicited
conflict, consolidated by the increase in Arab rebel terrorist activity and interference of other states

It is the degrees of strength in the varying Jewish and Arab claims that begin to arise debate
regarding the events triumph or tragedy status. Further debate surrounds the level of influence
religious sacred texts such as the Torah or Quran can have on the modern world. Modern day Israel
is located on the east coast of the Mediterranean Sea and holds immense religious significance for
the monotheistic religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam which were believed to originate there.
For Judaism, it is considered the birthplace of shaping the Jewish identity through the covenant
made between God and Abraham. According to historian Fred J. Khouri, the Jews had their first
contact with promised land about 1800 BC. It is this consuming religious and emotional foundation
to the land based on the Torah that underpins the importance of the land to Jewish

Long Distance Relationships Pros And Cons
Long Distance Relationships Modern Media LuvDaSun Res/110 August 18, 2010 Christopher
Benedetti Abstract Long distance relationships are no longer a thing of the past. Modern
technology has made it viable for partners to stay constantly in touch during a 24 hour period. A
review of five peer reviewed journals provides a variety of perspectives of long distance
relationships. The articles focus on the positive and negative aspects of Long Distance
Relationships. Weaknesses, strengths and differences in long distance relationships versus
geographically close relationships are evident. The articles represent studies that have been
conducted and provide the pros and cons, and the different affects they have in relationships. Long

Technology was relied upon to maintain relationships in times of conflict. Technology is a
growing form of communication and has become more available and less expensive. Based on the
research on long distance romantic relationships the participants criteria were to be between the
ages of 18 21, needed to be heterosexual and have currently or have been in a long distance
relationship. Generally, the focus groups believed that to keep communication there must be a form
of relationship maintenance, such as: telephone calls, Instant Messaging (IM), and e mails. The
results found that conflicts arose, and therefore, telephone calls were preferred for better personal
expression. Last, when asked about webcam/video conferencing, people no longer in long distance
relationships thought it would help them stay together. However, the rest didn t agree and thought
it would be too emotionally challenging. Would You Do It Again? Mietzner, S. Many romantic
relationships will face a time when they will separate by distance. This not only affects the people
but also the relationship too. People in long distance relationships (LDRs) have reported both
positive and negative aspects. Negative outcomes of LDRs would include little to no face to face
interactions, missed daily conversations, or a lack of physical intimacy, among other things. The
potential positive outcomes are individualism, gained appreciation for their

The Bolshevik Regime s Ability to Defeat Its Opponents by 1922
By the end of 1919, with only a few isolated groups of Anti Bolsheviks fighting, the Bolshevik
regime was evidently winning the Russian Civil War. The reasons which lie behind their ability to
defeat all their opponents by 1922 is mainly due to a well disciplined and equipped army, Lenin s
strong, purposeful leadership and the advantage of the disunity of the Anti Bolshevik force.
The Russian Civil War started when serious fighting broke out in May 1918 during the
transportation of 45,000 Czech prisoners of war to Vladivostok with the Soviets of a town on the
railway. As more Czech prisoners of war joined in the fight, the... Show more content on

The Red Terror and the way Trotsky kept his word, once shooting one in ten of the soldiers in a
group of army that ran away by a firing squad, ensured that members of the Red Army were
fighting their best. Hence, the Red Army was very well disciplined and well directed under
Trotsky, compared to the unrelated White forces under rival generals.
Another advantage which helped the Bolshevik regime win the Civil War was Lenin s strong,
purposeful leadership compared to the lack of purpose and disunity of the white army. The
Bolsheviks was a united force, they were organized and their purpose were all to win the Civil War
so they could continue with governing Russia and bring about reforms. On the other hand, the Anti
Bolsheviks were not a united force, the groups of Czechs, socialist revolutionaries, democrats,
landlords, nobles and the armies of intervention from Britain, France, America and Japan all had
different purposes. Some wanted a more democratic system of government, many favored
monarchy, others were resentful towards the way the Bolsheviks pushed the Socialist

The Roman Catholic Church Responded Treatment
The Roman Catholic Church responded treatment of Luther, Huguenots in France, relationship with
the Holy Roman Emperor, the Jesuits and the Council of Trent, treatment of Galileo and other
scientists very differently. Luther was called before Emperor Charles V to recant his beliefs.
Although some German Princes sided with Luther, it was still declared an outlaw. He protected by
a German Prince Frederick the Wise. He translates Erasmus Greek Bible into German. Holy Roman
Emperorand the RCC were political allies. Prince s allied with Luther to indirectly challenge the
emperor. Huguenots in France worked to reform the rest of France, but the Catholic King Henry
III was not about to let that happen. King Louis XIV revoked the Edict of Nantes, this resulted in
driving out hundreds of thousands of his best citizens abroad. The monks at Cluny were
challenging the power of the Holy Roman Emperor, there was also the idea of separation of
church and state. By 1050, King Henry III appointed the Pope he liked which was Clement II.
After his death the archbishops were able to elect the Pope. Henry IV had a serious threat to his
stability. He made his bishops swear loyalty to him. When Gregory excommunicated Henry he
begged for forgiveness and he got it; after Henry was back to placing bishops, he was
excommunicated again. The Germans were eager to see a weakened king siding with the church.

Cultural Culture Courtship And Marriage
Cultural relativism says that we must examine cultural practices within a cultural context, seeking
to understand different practices from the eye of those who practice them. It is sometimes hard to
understand other cultures from an emic perspective, and there is a tendency to favor your culture,
viewing it as superior. It is helpful to change your perspective, assuming an outside view towards
your culture and taking an inside look at another. Over the course of this paper, I will explain my
American Culture courtshipand marriagetraditions through the etic eye to show the perspective to
an outsider, and I will examine an aspect of the Sub Saharan African polygyny marriage from an
emic perspective to become familiar with this lifestyle.
In this section, I will examine the American culture in courtship and marriage from an etic
perspective. As Crapo(2013) describes etic as etic models invariably describe cultures in ways that
seem alien to its participants but facilitate comparisons between cultures and the discovery of
universal principles in the structure and functioning of cultures (p.27). In the article Body Ritual
among the Nacierema, Miner(1956) describes an aspect of the Nacierema culture from an etic
perspective, allowing readers to realize the Nacierema are Americans. From an etic eye, Americans
practice probably seems as strange to an outsider, as their culture is to ours. In American culture,
there is courtship and marriage. Courtship in

My Most Unforgettable Week Of My Life
POW! I dive left to go for the save. The game had just ended and we were now in the penalty
shootout. I had to make so many saves in the game to get us to a PK shootout. Back in March,
my parents signed me up for the soccer camp with a friend. Last year my parents won a ticket for
the soccer camp, at first I did not want to go but since the camp was full and there were no other
tickets I had to go so I did. After the first two days I really liked the camp, by the end of it I
realized that it would have been more fun with a friend. This year we got a friend that could go
to it this time. There were supposed to be three of us, but one of the friend s parent forgot to sign
their kid into the camp. This was my most unforgettable week of my life because this was just
such a good camp, plus I got one of my highlights of my goalie career to me. The camp that I
went to was at Dail soccer/track complex at NC State University. It had a baseball field right
next to it with a camp going on for softball. It also took place on the other two fields across the
street, yet there is a tunnel underneath the street that we took. For the games for overtime it did
not work the same as normal we went straight to the penalty shootout, instead of having two
overtime periods. This week happened to me because my parents were able to sign me up for
the camp. My parents learned about the camp from last year. They had won a ticket into the
camp and since it was sold out my parents looked at the web page for it to see what it was about
and thought I would enjoy it, so I went to it. On the first day of camp we went and filled
everything out so I could have fun and any insurance for the camp, I don t know I went to the
camp to have fun I did not pay any attention to the signing in anything else to start the camp.
After that, I went and found my group I was supposed to be in which turned out to be the second
goalie group. In the second goalie group, we were more like a group of people that have some
problems with ourselves. Most of the people in our group would talk when our coach talked or
wanted them to pay attention. Then there were the other people, like me, in the group who wanted
to get as far as possible in training and wanted to

Malvolio Twelfth Night
The role of Malvolio in Twelfth Night is, generally, being the target of Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and
Maria s pranks and foolishness. At the beginning of the play, he is very easy to find intolerable, due
to his killjoy like behaviour and vanity. However, by the end of the play, the audience mostly feel
sorry for him, because of the malicious way that Sir Toby and others treat Malvolio. Despite this,
Malvolio is one of the main sources of comedy, due to his gullibility and, as some say, his
foolishness . My argument is that Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria are the real fools of Twelfth
Night Sir Toby in particular. Fool a person who acts unwisely or imprudently; a silly person. My
first point is Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria are the real fools of Twelfth Night, since they create
the foolishness, while Malvolio is simply a victim of their foolish behaviour. This foolish behaviour
is the pranks that Sir Toby and others pull and Malvolio is a victim of it since he is the victim of
all their pranks. For example, Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria forged a love letter from Olivia,
addressed to M, O, A, I (Malvolio). In this letter, Olivia says Remember who commended thy
yellow stockings, and wished to see thee ever cross gartered . Malvolio falls for this and wears
cross gartered yellow stockings. Another display of their pranks is when Sir Toby, Sir Andrew,
Maria and Fabian tie Malvolio up in a dark room Come, we ll have him in a dark room and... Show

Additionally, Sir Toby and Sir Andrew are constantly drunk, which makes them act unwise and
foolish throughout the whole play. Also, Malvolio takes himself seriously and isn t aware of what
other people think of him, but a fool would want other people to laugh and them and will
purposefully say silly things. Therefore, Malvolio is not the real fool of Twelfth Night and Sir

Research Paper On Apple Cider Vinegar
Today, many are switching to natural home remedies in a bid to save some money from buying
those expensive skin solutions which claim to cure acne but never lived up to its promises. There
is an increasing trend of awareness among the community to go for natural treatments and it s
definitely bad news for the commercial skinmarkets.
There are quite a number of natural home remedies available. Among one of them is apple cider
vinegar. You probably would have read quite a number of articles about using apple cider vinegar
as a cure for adult acne. Does this really work? How true is it? Hope this article can dispel some
misconceptions about this natural home remedy if there is any.

It helps to exfoliate the dead skin cells gently, kills the bacteria propionibacterium acnes which is
generally known as P acnes and neutralizes the sebum which is the oily substance P acnes feeds
and thrives on.
How is Apple Cider Vinegar made?
Apple cider vinegar is obtained by the fermentation of apple cider or apple must which is made
from crushed organic apples. Just for your information, fermentation means an act of conversion.
Organic apples have some kind of bacteria and yeast on their skins. So when they are crushed, you
get pure apple juice with a mixture of bacteria and yeast.
After which you leave it to mature for a while. During this process, sugar in the apple cider is
broken down by yeast and bacteria which turns into alcohol. It s more like a brewing process which
eventually turns into vinegar after a second fermentation.
If you don t have all the time or resources to make one at home, you can easily purchase ACV
from any departmental stores. First of all, make sure you get the organic ACV with the labels
saying With the Mother with an ideal acidity (pH) level of five to seven. This means that it is in
raw and pure form characterized by dark, cloudy, web like bacterial foam which is brownish in

Workers Rights In The 20th Century
Throughout the Twentieth Century, the evolution of workers rights in the workplace has
drastically evolved. Through the utilization of constitutional freedoms, workers across the nation
came together to support the goal of receiving fair treatment from employers when it came to
wages, work conditions, and benefits. However, this wasn t achieved without great sacrifice
from the average man as standing up for their rights was a brave act that usually resulted in
consequences. During the early stages of the Twentieth Century, the labor force was focused
more on industrial jobs than agricultural jobs as technology was evolving. About 24 million
Americans ranging from 10 years and above were employed. The number of women working in
the workforce was about 19 percent as children in the workforce was about 6 percent of the labor
force. The work force was dominated by men as culture deemed them to be superior than women.
Children worked as some parents couldn t provide enough for their families, so they sent their
children off to work in dangerous conditions. As the second industrial revolutionwas nearing its end,
many people were employed in factories which received low pay and dangerous conditions as the
average week was 53 hours. At the start of the 20th Century, only 15 percent of people that got
injured in the workplace were successful in suing their employer and received money for the
damages. This type of exposure of human labor would cause a shift in the labor force as

The Long-Term Effects Of Breaking God s Law
After David s sin with Bathsheba, God did not turn his back on him and demanded that he
discontinue the marital relationship with her since her husband was dead and she was released
from that law. The law stated that For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her
husband as long as he lives.
God punished David and brought upon him the evil consequences of his sin to teach us the
consequences of breaking God s Law. The long term effects of the affair, lead to David s soldiers
Joab putting Uriah on the front lines to be killed. David thought that his punishment was over. He

Computer Management System And Its Impact On Business...
1.2 According to David Ingram (2015) CMS refers to systems and processes to collect data from
different sources in order to present information in a more understandable layout. Beynon Davies
(2015,p.2) argues Computer management system it s extremely significant for business activities
overall, because for businesses data it s the most powerful factor as information its critical to create
competiveness among private sector, as through systems information organisations are always
aware of anything related to sales, orders, stock control and records , and this information it s what
it contributes for businesses realisation overall due to the ability that each systems has on gathering
up to date data. CMS minimizes overload data, because the system has the ability to modify the
larger amount of information data by summarizing everything in order to avoid managers to get
confused and get flooded with exhaustive details (Management hub,2016). CMS function at some
point its mainly to focus on helping organisations functions such forecasting ,payroll or costing to
develop more efficiently, as CMS role is to make sure that only correct information its collected
from different sources and then processed and delivered to the right departments , because MIS
function is to fulfil managers necessities at all levels (Role of the management information

Colonial America Without The Indians Axtell Summary
Native Americans, or Indians, as they were mistakenly called, have been the pathetic footnotes to
the main course of American history (Axtell 981). But James Axtell, the author of Colonial
America without the Indians: Counterfactual Reflections, would beg to differ. He says that
instead, Indians played a key role in making America great. James Murray gives another term to
describe America s greatness: America s exceptionalism. Throughout his article Axtell makes
many points as to why Indians played a vital role in American Exceptionalism . He even says that
America wouldn t have been colonized nearly as soon if the Indians were gone, because
Columbus would know he was not in the Indies and move on. So because they simply existed in
the first place, Axtell says they were significant in the history of our country. Furthermore, he says
Indians specifically played a vital role in the exceptionality of America s early economy, culture,
and historical events and places.
I never thought about how much the Indians contributed to the economy of early colonial America.
However, without the Native Americans There would have been no maizeor Indian corn, the staple
crop grown throughout the colonial period to feed people and sometimes fatten livestock for export
(Axtell 988). I believe Mr. Axtell raises an excellent point in this statement. Without the Indians to
teach the early settlers, they would never have survived the harsh winters, and would have starved
and died out very

Seeking Your True Self in the Virtual World
The question of identity has always been a central theme for many, in particular the youth. Today,
as we enter a new age of Internet technology, the quest for defining oneself has shifted online. While
many, especially the younger generation, embrace the liberation that digital communities offer,
others are apprehensive of the dangers that lurk in the virtual world. The anxiety is not entirely
unjustified. Nevertheless, the truth is the benefits that accompany online communities far outweigh
its drawbacks. According to Daniel Chandler, author of Identities under Construction , and Danah
Boyd, an American researcher known for her works on social network sites, online tools such as

The misrepresentation and manipulation of one s identity is an ongoing concern for many.
Chandler cites that some critics are alarmed by the excessive manipulation of public identities. In
support, Boyd bought up the issue of staged imagery not truly representative of one s behaviors.
Despite the fact that the vast majority of online users tend to portray a polished self representation
by ridding the undesirable aspects, there are some others that are utterly unpretentious. They
frequently include details in their Web pages that are not glamorizing, but are what they felt
necessary to paint a more genuine picture of themselves.
There are still some who constructed online identities not for the pursuit of self definition, but for
others to come to terms with a side of themselves that they have difficulty disclosing face to face.
Chandler presents two examples in which two gay personal home page authors use their website to
inform others about their homosexuality. One of them, Rob, mentioned that people can consider
his side of the story before reacting (Chandler, 2004).
Staying Connected
One reason why so many people are fascinated with online communities is the ability to socialize
not only with immediate circle of friends, but with a much broader secondary network of peers and
people with a shared interest. In addition, tools such as MySpace provide them the capacity to be

younger consumers are seeming to hang up, not care or get overwhelmed by so many bills,
especially medical. It s very unfortunate when you know someone care about their bills and credit

Especially here in Alaska. Things are so expensive and unless you have a really good job you
can t pay everyday bills and save the amount needed. If millennials are saving it will be at a rate
that will make them available to purchase when they re about 30. According to a study I found
68 % of millennials said they have saved less than $1000.00 for a down payment (80 % of
millennials say they want to buy a home, By: Ester Bloom). There are a lot of programs out
there that can help people get familiar with the homebuying process and programs available for
down payment assistance and other housing scholarships. I feel like not too many of millennials
know about these, When I started to look for a home buying opportunity I had to find all this on
my own. There is also the factor of everything being more expensive and interest rates being high

cheaper and its discouraging to even go out and rent on your own let alone must pay a mortgage

La Vita E Bella Themes
La Vita Г© Bella (Life is Beautiful) directed by Roberto Benigni is a film test of resiliency in a
light and humorous way but dark at the same time in the settings of WW2. The main character
Guido Orefice is a fun, sharp Jewish guy who alongside his beautiful wife, Dora and his son

enables the audience to understand through the influence of the context. These include challenging
stereotypes and power structures, the loss of identity and the power of love. Each of these themes

A Narrative Of The Captivity And Restoration
Held Captive, but not in Spirit Puritans take their relationship with God seriously, see him as
good, and rely on the Bible for guidance by reading it diligently. They look for ways that the
Bible resembles their own real life situations and try to carry on similar as they did. This is
called typology and is reoccurring theme in the narrative, A Narrative of the Captivity and
Restoration, written by Mary Rowlandson. Rowlandson was taken captive by Indians in 1675,
she documented those eleven weeks in this narrative (Rowlandson ,256). It is a tragic tale that
starts with seeing her family and friends drowning in their own blood, all the while seeing her old
life go up in smoke. Mary is a fine example of puritanfaith who never gave up hope. In Mary
Rowlandson s narrative she demonstrates her puritan faith through typology and relying fully on
Gods providence to revive her spirit daily. Mary having only the cloths on her back, a sick baby,
and a moldy cake in her pocket could only rely on God s providence to keep her and give her favor.
She was wounded when taken captive, but God sent her someone to help her and give her
medicine to apply to her wound. Then I took oaken leaves and laid to my side, and with the
blessing of God it healed me also, (Rowlandson, 261). We may not consider these to be big
blessings, but to Mary being in such a desolate state that they became her bread and butter. After

The Impact Of Securitization Techniques On Commercial...
The most influential person in my life, my dad, always tells me how in order for me to be able
to live the American dream, I have to work like there is somebody trying twenty four hours a day
to take it all away from me. He also mentions that a college degree is crucial to the American
dream, and is worth all the financial sacrifices for the reason that it will open all doors to a world
of opportunities. Armed with this bit of philosophy, I graduated with a cum laude from Pace
University in Quantitative Business Analysis, minor in Mathematics and achieved a major GPA
that placed me in the top of my class. In order for myself to become the expert that others rely upon

My job placement at Barclay`s since august of 2015 had fortified my interest in the areas of finance

me attain my short term goal and prepare me for my long term objective.

Essay On Visual Perception
Evaluate the evidence that visual perception involves bottom up and top down processing.
The perceptual system is comprised of a of a diverse range of senses including visual, auditory,
olfactory and tactition; the perceptual system is part of the nervous system, which contains
millions of nerve cells called receptors that sense and respond to a plethora of sensory stimuli
including light, sound and temperature. The act of perceiving rather than merely sensing enables us
to analyse and make sense of incoming sensory information, allowing us to construct a description
of the environment to inform and guide our actions within a complex, dynamic world. For primates,

The vibrant environment to which Gibson refers is composed of images and surfaces with varying
densities, textures, sizes, distances and shapes, and the interaction or movement of the observer and
the movement of the object provide ample information to generate perception.
Gibson emphasises the significance of what he terms the optic array whereby light reflected from
a multitude of textured surfaces unites in the visual field occupied by the observer, thus altering
in conjunction with the position of the observer, hence providing information about where the
object is in space. Furthermore, Gibson purposed that in addition to the optic array, invariants or
higher order features, such as horizon ration relation and texture gradient offer explicit insight
into the nature of the environment (as cited in Pike Edgar, 2010, pp 74 76). Horizon ration
relation explored by Sedgwick (1973) enables us to judge relative heights and distances of

Argumentative Essay On Robotic Nurses
According to television programs such as Grey s Anatomy and ER, nurses are just minor people
who complete low skilled tasks, little does the world know that a nurse carries more of a
responsibility than changing bedpans and bringing food which does not make things like robotic
nurses necessary, at all (Hendren). Who would have ever thoughtthat robots would be a
controversial topic as to whether or not they should assist a surgeon in surgery or even be
considered a nurse? Even though the thought of robotic nurses existing is being studied, it does not
mean that it is an adequate invention or that it will even occur. Robotic nurses will not be accurate
or efficient and will never have the skill and education that a humannurse portrays. These robots
would assist a doctor in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A robotic nurse s lack of accuracy, due to not having proper education and motives that a human
has, could cause major life threatening complications and challenges. There seems to be tons of
knowledge out in the real world that proves that mistakes can easily be made, especially when it
comes to assisting a doctor in surgery, for example. Having proper education and some sort of
common sense is a necessity no matter what it may possibly be. Therefore, when it comes to
relying on nursing, a robot might not be the best option. According to Nikki Cob and the San
Bernardino County Sun, they feel as though technology can definitely be useful and beneficial, but
having a decent amount of reliance on it can threaten lives (qtd. in the Truth About Nursing Inc.).
Other challenges include providing computers with the ability to understand the context in which
gestures are made and to discern intended versus unintended ones (HealthLeaders Media Staff).
Robots can be efficient for many things, but when it comes to simple, yet life threatening tasks it
may not be the wisest option.

Summary Of Jim Casy A Journey To California
The story begins with Tom Joad hitchhiking with a truck driver, to whom he reveals that he has
been released on parole from the state penitentiary. While walking along a desolate road, he
encounters a man named Jim Casy who is a preacher Tom remembers from his childhood. Casy
explains to Tom why he is no longer a preacher because he has supposedly lost his dosage of the
Holy Spirit. He still believes in the Holy Spirit, but not consequently the traditional expectations
mandated by organized religion. Instead, Casy argues, the Holy Spirit is love not just the love of
God or Jesus, but the love of all mankind.
Tom invites Casy to join him on his walk home, only to find it completely deserted. A man named
Muley Graves, who is one of the family s neighbors, tells Tom that his family has been forced off
of their land by the bank, which owns the land. The Joads have temporarily moved in with his
Uncle John and are preparing to leave for California to search for work. The three men spend the
night in a cave near the abandoned farm and travel to Uncle John s house the next morning.
The entire family is preparing for the long journey ahead to California when Tom and Casy
arrive. Casy asks the Joads if he can travel west with them and they agree to take him in the
hopes of a potential blessing. Once all of their possessions have been sold to junkyards and used
car lots, everyone except for Granpa Joad is anxious to begin the journey. As they begin pack the

Organizational Planning And Decision Making
Many organizations that are still thriving and growing today started with innovative planning and
decision making. Planning and decision making in a company could be said to be the most
important steps any organization will make in order to survive. Organizational plans and goals for a
company are derived directly from the company s mission statement. When a company starts out,
the individuals involved need to have a strong understanding of and commitment to the mission
statement, because the mission statement is what sets the business apart from others and identifies
the extent of the business operations (Griffin, 2013). As a company puts together a mission

Myths About Going Through Debate Essay
3 Myths About Going Through Probate After you pass away, your family will need to go
through probate to validate your will. Once everything is verified, your assets can be divided
according to your intentions. The benefit of probate is that it will clarify your will to your family,
making sure there are not any misunderstanding or arguments about what you desired.
Unfortunately, there are some myths about probate that you may have heard that simply are not
true. All Estates Go Through Probate If you have a will then probate will be necessary for
verification of the will and dividing assets. However, there are alternatives to having a will if you

In Nothing Gold Can Stay the author is discussing natures first green and how it is golden and
never lasts long. Likewise in Unfolding Bud it is comparing an unfolding bud to poetry,
gradually unfolding. In both the poem Nothing Gold Can Stay and the poem Unfolding Bud the
author uses nature to develop the theme of living life to it s fullest by using comparisons,
symbolism, and imagery. The poem Unfolding Bud conveys the theme of enjoying the golden
part of your life with the use of analogy. The author writes, One is not amazed, At a first glance,

Cultural Identity In Basketball, Basketball And Basketball
What is cultural identity? How does one develop a cultural identity? I believe a person s cultural
identity is determined by the people that surround you and the things that you do. So, what is
my cultural identity? My own cultural identity is based around many of the experiences I have
had and the people I ve met. If you asked people what best describes me, they would probably say
I m a sports jock. My parents have had influence on all aspects of my life. My friends have had a
huge impact on who I am.. The combination of these three things I cherish, has shaped me and my
cultural identity.
Sports have had significant effect on me as a person and my cultural identity. I playboth basketball
and baseball. Both sports have given me opportunity to grow as a player and a person. I feel like
basketball represents me because to succeed in it, it takes hard work, dedication, and a little bit
of skill. I try to apply those three things in everything I do. Basketball has always kept me driven
to accomplish my goals. It has always given me an escape from all the pressures of the world.
Basketball has quickly become one of the main hobbies in my life. Most of my free time consists
of playing basketball, talking about it, or playing a basketball video game. Not only has basketball
influenced my interests, it has also impacted the way I act and treat others. When I first started
basketball, I would argue with referees, trash talk the opposing players, and butt heads with my

Cedphalus Definition Of Justice Essay
The four definitions of justice begin with Cephalus, an old businessman, who believes justice is
related to having money. If a man is rich he gains access to hope, freedom to speak the truth, and
the ability to pay debts. A just man communicates honestly and settles his debts because the
possession of money contributes a great deal to not cheating or lying...and, moreover, to not
departing for that other place frightened because one owes some sacrifices (REP 331b1 4). Socrates
counters Cephalus argument by contending that fulfilling an obligation may be tumultuous for
other people, making the action unjust. Socrates addresses this dilemma with an example of
returning a borrowed weapon to a madman. Although returning it would repay what is owed, it
would be wrongful as everyone would surely say that...when he is mad, one shouldn t give back
such things because it could cause harm to others (REP 331c1 6). The definition of justice,
therefore, cannot be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While this definition is different from that of Cephalus, they both have an underlying component
of giving to each what is appropriate. He modifies his statement, however, when Socrates reasons
it is often hard to discern between true debts and scams. Polemarchus revision supposes that
friends owe it to friends to do some good and nothing bad , while an enemy owes his enemy the
very thing which is also fitting: some harm (REP 332a7 332b7 8). Justice is giving harm enemies
and helping friends. Socrates refutes this explanation by stating that many seem to them to be good
although they are not, and vice versa (REP 334c6 7). Humans are imperfect beings, so their
perception of the intentions of others might not always be correct. Although one believes they are
doing what is just, they may be doing the exact opposite without realizing

Literary Analysis Of Desiree s Baby

with the intention of giving her the perfect family she failed to receive. The two are profoundly
in love, and continue to flourish in happiness until one day something changes. With suspicion
and curiosity towards the race of the baby and Desiree, Armand suddenly becomes distant from
the two; portraying an unpleasant attitude towards her and his slaves. Unwanted, Desiree
disappears with the child, and is never seen again. One day while burning old memories of his
former spouse, Armand will be conflicted with a shocking discovery that leaves the reader in
awe. This amazing story reveals how the power of judgement, and uncertainty can ironically come
back to haunt you in the end. There are many examples of language given from the author that
helps the reader achieve a certain understanding on the specific parts in the story. The narrator
reads from the third person omniscient point of view, and greatly describes the events leading up
to the tragedy of what once was filled with pure joy. With the ability to unfold the thoughts of the

Scientific innovations have caused numerous side effects, which Suzuki explains throughout his

well thought out and relevant to his essay. Continually, David Suzuki always supports his
propositions with authentic proof to relay his stance on technology. David Suzuki supports his
argument with specific examples and he rationalises each one; however, he overlooks the
important detail that technology is beneficial to our society. Throughout the essay the author
repeatedly mentions the negative effects technology has, but he never provides an argument for
the advantages of new innovations. Although technology may have its faults, we depend on it as

to discover that his life has lost placidity. The man remembers his childhood as he remembers the
lake; peaceful and still. Spending time at the lake as an adult has made the man realize that his life
has become unsettling and restless, like the tides of the ocean. Having brought his son to this place

I would be in the middle of some simple act, I would be picking up a bait box or laying down a

When the man lay in bed early one morning, he heard his son sneak out to take a canoe out on the
lake, just as he used to do when he was a child. By living a dual existence the man could see from
two perspectives; his son sneaking out early in the morning, his father lying in bed listening to his
son sneak out. I began to sustain the illusion that he was I, and therefore, by simple transposition,
that I was my father (White 151). The man s alternate ways of viewing these events convinced him
that he was becoming his father.
This thought eventually leads to the man s realization that he will die someday, just as his father
did. A thunderstorm came over the lake one day when the man was a child. He remembered
swimming in the lake just after the storm passed, but while rain was still coming down. Just like the
scene from his childhood, another thunderstorm came over the lake, only instead of swimming in
the lake with the others, the man merely watched his son put on his bathing suit.

ERM based on data analysis. Many researchers have utilised model to access ERM. They
provided a theoretical model to access the maturity level of ERM based on survey and data

Strategic Leadership Of Operation Husky
The operational level commanders, of Operation Husky, failed to provide adequate command and
control and were average in their integration of the joint Allied force. The Allied Force Commander,
General Eisenhower, and the 15th Army Group Commander, General Alexander, failed to apply
mission command and specifically the elements of commander s intent, mutual trust, and
understanding. Furthermore, the Allied Force Headquarters, and specifically the air component
commander, Air Chief Marshal Tedder, poorly integrated the air component into the joint force.
Though Operation Husky is considered an important Allied victory, the poor performance of the
operational level commanders resulted in the Axis forces successful evacuation of over 100,000
men and 10,000 vehicles from Sicily. This essay will evaluate command and control and
specifically the three mission command attributes of commander s intent, mutual trust and

Violent Video Games
Violence in Video Games
Violent video games have been an epidemic for decades. Furthermore, the violence in video
games has increased and has become more realistic. Violent games like Mortal Kombat, Dead
Space, Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty have become common household games. Boys are more
effected by video games; thus, video games have made males more violent because they include
military techniques, reality based settings, and change people s behaviors.
Knowing the history of violent video games is important in understanding how they have become
more violent. In 1976 Exidy games released the first violent video game, Death Race. In that game
the player would drive a car over stick figures, turning them into gravestones (Douglass). The
public was soon outraged by the video game and, the end result was that Exidy sales doubled or
quadrupled (qtd. in Douglass). People wanted the violence.
Most early video games did not include people to people violence like most games now, they
were just the gateway into the world of violence. The founder of Atari, Nolan Bushnell said, We
had an internal rule that we wouldn t allow violence against people. You could blow up a tank or
you could blow up a flying saucer, but you couldn t blow up people (Douglass). Later companies
formed and with them came better graphics, therefore more gore. Gradually it became clear that
games sold better if they contained more violence, and with that games like Mortal Kombat, with

The Ballad Of Mulan And Mui Slays The Serpent
In the two stories The Ballad of Mulan and Chi Li Slays the Serpent two young girls living in
Ancient China defy all odds and go against the gender barriers. Mulan and Chi Li are two different
women living in different parts of China, however, they both have similar feelings about the way
they should handle difficult tasks. On the contrary, Mulan is a secretive young girl, while Chi Li is
honest. Both womenreveal their true colors when they step out of their traditional role in society
and take on the role of a man.
Chi Li and Mulan both value bravery and their families well being. Chi Li and Mulan both take
risks and forget about fear, as they take on challenges that could end with their death. When Chi
Li says, Poor girls! ... The monster conquered you because you were too timid to put up a fight!
How pitiful! it shows her value because she s making fun of the girls who weren t brave enough
to fight the serpent. Chi Li frowns upon this as she values bravery and these girls were too
proper to retaliate. Although nobody has ever been able to slay the serpent, Chi Li defies all
odds and does so because of her courage. As for Mulan, even the small action of when she buys a
spirited horse, ... she buys a saddle ... she buys a bridle .... she buys a long whip. shows bravery
because she had to sneak around her town without anyone seeing her. If anybody saw her, they
would realize what she was doing and her parents would have found on immediately. Her bravery
overcame the feelings of fear she may have felt, and she stayed strong and fought for twelve years.
Both women were brave as an attempt to care for their parents and their families. Even though
fighting a serpent and fighting in a battle may have been risky, the two women fought their hardest
for the benefit of their families. The two women were courageous because they faced danger and
overcame it, even though this might have been difficult. Both women value bravery and family
matters because of their fearless mind sets.
Chi Li values honesty while Mulan values secrecy. When Chi Li says to her parents, Father and
Mother, I want you to know that I have decided to place myself into the hands of the county
authorities and to volunteer to

History Of Social Discourse
Social discourse is speech or text communication that involves a specific historical and social
element. The definition of discourse is very broad; th e word discourse refers to nearly all of the
many ways that humans communicate with each other. A social type of discourse is
communication that has a social purpose, or some kind of distinctively social aspect. When
understanding this definition, it is easy to see why tattooing can be seen as a significant form of a
social discourse since it has been a way for humans to communicate belonging and other similar
meanings within a social community. The history of tattooing in North America reveals how the
meanings and functions of aesthetic cultural practices cross social boundaries. Much like... Show

In 512 BC, the Greeks adopted the Persians way of tattooing which was used for slaves, convicts
and prisoners of war by tattooing letters onto their foreheads; the point was to make it impossible
for a runaway to be unnoticed (Hesselt van Dinter, 2005). For the Romans it wasn‟t about
decoration, it was about control, also tattooing specific groups allowed the Romans to track the
groups‟ movements around the Empire. They also found these markings useful for Roman
recruits and allowed them to distinguish soldiers from different units and strengthen bonds
(Hesselt van Dinter, 2005). In 55 BC, the people of Britannia were found to have colored their
bodies with a permanent blue pigment in order to appear more fearsome on the battlefield, the land
was given the name Land of the painted people . The Briton word Picts was meant to signify a
painted body, used by Britons and Scots to distinguish themselves from the rest of the population by
these vivid colors and images (Hesselt van Dinter, 2005). Although, when Christianity took over
Europe, tattooing mostly disappeared for the next 500 years, with little mentions of tattoos

The Importance Of Legalizing Abortion In The United States
Imagine being a woman with an unplanned pregnancy and no ability to get an abortion because the
law prohibits it. Imagine being scared, confused, and anxious because you don t have the basic
right of control over your own body. Imagine having to succumb to illegal, life threatening
procedures because you feel like you have no other choice. There are women across the nation who
feel and endure these unimaginable and terrifying hardships, which is why abortions should be
legal throughout the United States. First, illegalizing abortions will not eliminate the practice of the
procedure as intended, but will instead leave women scared, confused, and without any safe
options. In fact, abortionrates are similar in countries where it is legal and... Show more content on

A Need For Peaceful Refuge
A Need for Peaceful Refuge Every winter, people living in the middle to upper northern
hemisphere can see birds migrate south in hopes of warmer weather. They need a place of refuge
in order to survive. Humans, although we do not fly south, must move from one place to another
in order to either live, find happiness, or experience societal needs. While some may have
generally one motive for their migration, most will inhabit some other reasons for moving from
their homeland. A current issue in today s world is the crisis occurring in the Middle East. People in
that area are having land disputes for, mainly, both cultural and economic reasons. Because of this,
the conflict was escalated into war, and now many inhabitants of the Middle East must seek refuge
in other places of the world where they can experience economic stability and practice their culture.
The current Syrian refugeecrisis, while it is not the only form of migration among humans on
Earth, is a highly stressed global issue and is a great example of migration. The United Nations
have arranged several refugee camps for the civilians who wish to escape from the warfare.
Unfortunately, their health, education, and economy is at risk. They require a stable society. Caryl
Stern, a journalist who traveled to a camp in Jordan, stated that while they had temporary safety
from the warfare, families were dependent on their children as they generated a mass amount of the
family income (Stern, 2015). Mrs. Stern

How Did Abraham Lincoln Changed America
There has been many great men and women in America that has been an influence in the United
States of America who strived to make the United States a better country. One of the many people
who has been and continues to be one of the great American influential people is the sixteenth
president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln strove to do his duties to serve America
during his presidency. He served our country during the time of conflict and kept our country from
falling apart during the American Civil War. Also, Lincoln gave his life for what he believed in.
Other people might believe that there are better American war heroes or technological advances in
the United States; I personally believe Abraham Lincoln was one of the greatest because he
changed America for the better through one of the toughest times of war for America, and he put
his strong mind into ending slavery. Abraham Lincoln entered his reign of Presidency during the
time of many chaotic conflicts. By the time Lincoln was inaugurated as 16th U.S. president in

said that, The Confederates had lost 28,063 men at Gettysburg and the Federals 23,049 (Hassler,

that if a prisoner commits an offense, they need to be punished; however, the same goes for a prison

People have to understand that there are consequences for their actions, not just the inmates, but the

The Milgram Obedience Study
Throughout history, many individuals have followed cruel leaders such as Adolf Hitler, Idi
Amin Dada, Leopold II of Belgium, who are responsible for a combined total of over 19,000,000
casualties (McLeod, Mishkov). A leader is supposed to be a person with confidence, skills,
knowledge, and power; however Adolf Hitler was a corrupt leader who was able to convince the
Germans that all Jews were bad and that all negative things happen because of the Jews. Adolf
Hitler was even able to reinterpret the Bible and make the Germans believe he was right. Humans
more easily obey a leader who is older, has a high education, and has authoritative power.
Another example is the The Milgram Obedience Studies (1963 1965). The Milgram
Obedience study was a experiment help by Stanley Milgram, subjects were told that they were
participating in a study on the effect of punishment on memory. One participant in the study the
learner ( Mr. Wallace real name Bob McDonough) was a confederate of Milgram and one was the
true subject the teacher . The teacher was told to shock the learner when the leaner gave a wrong
answer. The teachers were given a shock of 45 volts to convince them that the shocks were real. The
learner s response to the questions is scripted. At 150 volts the learner is heard asking that the
experiment stop. If the teacher denied continuing the experiment, the experimenter would say

The Influx Of Children From Central America
The influx of children to the United States from Central America and how the U.S. is handling it
Between 1st October, 2013 and 31 July, 2014, the United States Customs and Border Protection
reported that likely 63 thousand unaccompanied children, most of them coming from the Central
America region, crossed into the United States through the southern border. The figure is a
representation of double the total number of children who immigrated to the US in similar period
on the previous years, 2012 (Greenhill). The increasing number of children immigrants into the US
has revitalized a rancorous nationwide debate regarding the US policies on immigration. President
Obama s critics have been proposing for major immigration reforms to curb the increasing number
of children immigrants into the US (Lightfoot). They argue that the situation has stretched the legal
and social services receiving the migrants which in turn incurs costs on the tax payers money. The
issue of influx of children into the US comes from Central America comes at a time when the
authorities at the southern body record a historic lowest overall detentions of undocumented
immigrants.
Some people have termed the increasing influx of children into the US has been termed as a
humanitarian crisis and others referring to it as national security threat (Dart). According to, the
influx of the children is due to the increasing levels of poverty and violence especially in countries
such as Mexico that prompt children to

The Importance of the First Scene in the Film Version of...
Romeo and juliet written in 1595, is one of the most famous plays of the 16th century, set in
Verona. It was cleverly written by William Shakespeare, who is one of the most renowned writers
of all time and the play was later produced as movie in 1996 staring Leonardo Dicaprio and Claire
Danes. The play is still popular as it contains universal themes of loveand hate that can still be
related to today.
One of the importances of the first scene of the play is to introduce the audience to the majority of
the lead charecters such as Romeo and Juliet, Benvolio and Tybalt, Sampson and Gregory, Lord
and Lady Capulet, Lord and Lady Montague and Prince. Along with the different themes and use of
language, which varies from crude to poetic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I hate the word and continues to say the word hate throughout the play which suggests he s
uncivil which eventually backfires on him later on in the play. Sampson and Gregory are clearly
shown to be the better and more civil charecters as they The language used is insulting such as A
dog of the house of Montague moves me. which basically means anything from the house
Montague even a dog, they have no respect for therefore they wouldn t move out of it s way and
would let it walk in the dirt. It s significant that the fight between the Montagues and Capulets starts
first among the servants as it shows that both houses have lower status charecters in that share the
same hatred for the opposite houses as the higher status charecters do. Shakespeares use of
language is clever as you have to look within what the Capulets said to find the true insult. The fight
between the two houses grabs the attention of the audience straight away with it s witty use of
language and action. It also starts with the question that lingers throughout the rest of the play
which is why exactly have they hated eachother for so long and so strongly?
All this builds up tension and the crowd are constantly on the edge of their seats waiting for the
events to happen that they have been told about, the fight is witnessed by the prince who decides
anymore fighting will end in exile if they carry on. In a way the Prince is

The Laramie Project Personal Response
Life is an amazing, wonderful, beautiful adventure that we are blessed with every day. But, we
are greeted many times throughout those days with choices we have to make. Most of those
choices we make are built by the structure and beliefs that our parents and loved ones have passed
onto us. Looking into how we were brought up can we really say what s right or wrong? Can we
positively determine that everyone thinks the same? While watching The LaramieProject you see
and hear two hundred different opinions towards the Matthew Shepards case. Two hundred ... that s
two hundred people from Laramie, friends of the victim and attackers, and loved ones fighting for
what they believe is right. This case not only caught the whole town s attention but was recognized
on a national level. Labeled as a hate crime you learn so much more about the people s identity
like Matthew Shepard as a homosexual, the tragedy of a man/son/friend that struck a town, and
how people see Laramie, Wyomingas their home built by a community. Everyone identifies in their

group development by forcing the group to devote time and effort to control his behavior.
Chris remains one of the leaders, but even at times presents a problem to the group. He has a
very tough attitude and almost gets his eye burned out in the beginning trying to stand up
against bigger, tougher kids. At the end of the movie he almost gets attacked with a knife for
mouthing off to the same group of kids, but Gordie bailed him out. By standing up against
difficult group members Gordie really showed his leadership skills. Gordie seems to have a lot of
personal issues with finding this dead body because of how often he thinks about his older
brother who had passed away. Gordie really takes this trip/adventure personally mainly because of
how close he feels to this dead body. Only a few months before this trip, Gordy s older brother

  • 2. Arab Dichotomy The dichotomy of historical events, personalities and concepts are central to devising a sense of both triumph and tragedy, varying in perspective for the individuals and groups directly involved. The creation of the state of Israel accommodates this dichotomy, in which the event can simply be recognised as a success for the Jewish people whose religious land was regained, and a calamity for the Arab Palestinians who became displaced refugees as a result. Since the inception of the Israeli nation state in 1948, religious and political difference have played a major role in bringing about the Arab Israeli conflict. The dominance of the Jewish people, driven by religious and cultural ties to the land following their Diaspora, has seen the formation of Israelas a short term social triumph. However, the resultant dispossession of Arab refugees in the elicited conflict, consolidated by the increase in Arab rebel terrorist activity and interference of other states has... Further debate surrounds the level of influence religious sacred texts such as the Torah or Quran can have on the modern world. Modern day Israel is located on the east coast of the Mediterranean Sea and holds immense religious significance for the monotheistic religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam which were believed to originate there. For Judaism, it is considered the birthplace of shaping the Jewish identity through the covenant made between God and Abraham. According to historian Fred J. Khouri, the Jews had their first contact with promised land about 1800 BC. It is this consuming religious and emotional foundation to the land based on the Torah that underpins the importance of the land to Jewish ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Long Distance Relationships Pros And Cons Long Distance Relationships Modern Media LuvDaSun Res/110 August 18, 2010 Christopher Benedetti Abstract Long distance relationships are no longer a thing of the past. Modern technology has made it viable for partners to stay constantly in touch during a 24 hour period. A review of five peer reviewed journals provides a variety of perspectives of long distance relationships. The articles focus on the positive and negative aspects of Long Distance Relationships. Weaknesses, strengths and differences in long distance relationships versus geographically close relationships are evident. Technology was relied upon to maintain relationships in times of conflict. Technology is a growing form of communication and has become more available and less expensive. Based on the research on long distance romantic relationships the participants criteria were to be between the ages of 18 21, needed to be heterosexual and have currently or have been in a long distance relationship. Generally, the focus groups believed that to keep communication there must be a form of relationship maintenance, such as: telephone calls, Instant Messaging (IM), and e mails. The results found that conflicts arose, and therefore, telephone calls were preferred for better personal expression. Last, when asked about webcam/video conferencing, people no longer in long distance relationships thought it would help them stay together. However, the rest didn t agree and thought it would be too emotionally challenging. Would You Do It Again? Mietzner, S. Many romantic relationships will face a time when they will separate by distance. This not only affects the people but also the relationship too. People in long distance relationships (LDRs) have reported both positive and negative aspects. Negative outcomes of LDRs would include little to no face to face interactions, missed daily conversations, or a lack of physical intimacy, among other things. The potential positive outcomes are individualism, gained appreciation for their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Bolshevik Regime s Ability to Defeat Its Opponents by 1922 By the end of 1919, with only a few isolated groups of Anti Bolsheviks fighting, the Bolshevik regime was evidently winning the Russian Civil War. The reasons which lie behind their ability to defeat all their opponents by 1922 is mainly due to a well disciplined and equipped army, Lenin s strong, purposeful leadership and the advantage of the disunity of the Anti Bolshevik force. The Russian Civil War started when serious fighting broke out in May 1918 during the transportation of 45,000 Czech prisoners of war to Vladivostok with the Soviets of a town on the railway. The Red Terror and the way Trotsky kept his word, once shooting one in ten of the soldiers in a group of army that ran away by a firing squad, ensured that members of the Red Army were fighting their best. Hence, the Red Army was very well disciplined and well directed under Trotsky, compared to the unrelated White forces under rival generals. Another advantage which helped the Bolshevik regime win the Civil War was Lenin s strong, purposeful leadership compared to the lack of purpose and disunity of the white army. The Bolsheviks was a united force, they were organized and their purpose were all to win the Civil War so they could continue with governing Russia and bring about reforms. On the other hand, the Anti Bolsheviks were not a united force, the groups of Czechs, socialist revolutionaries, democrats, landlords, nobles and the armies of intervention from Britain, France, America and Japan all had different purposes. The Roman Catholic Church Responded Treatment The Roman Catholic Church responded treatment of Luther, Huguenots in France, relationship with the Holy Roman Emperor, the Jesuits and the Council of Trent, treatment of Galileo and other scientists very differently. Luther was called before Emperor Charles V to recant his beliefs. Although some German Princes sided with Luther, it was still declared an outlaw. He protected by a German Prince Frederick the Wise. He translates Erasmus Greek Bible into German. Holy Roman Emperorand the RCC were political allies. Prince s allied with Luther to indirectly challenge the emperor. Huguenots in France worked to reform the rest of France, but the Catholic King Henry III was not about to let that happen. King Louis XIV revoked the Edict of Nantes, this resulted in driving out hundreds of thousands of his best citizens abroad. The monks at Cluny were challenging the power of the Holy Roman Emperor, there was also the idea of separation of church and state. By 1050, King Henry III appointed the Pope he liked which was Clement II. After his death the archbishops were able to elect the Pope. Henry IV had a serious threat to his stability. He made his bishops swear loyalty to him. When Gregory excommunicated Henry he begged for forgiveness and he got it; after Henry was back to placing bishops, he was excommunicated again. • 6. Cultural Culture Courtship And Marriage Cultural relativism says that we must examine cultural practices within a cultural context, seeking to understand different practices from the eye of those who practice them. It is sometimes hard to understand other cultures from an emic perspective, and there is a tendency to favor your culture, viewing it as superior. It is helpful to change your perspective, assuming an outside view towards your culture and taking an inside look at another. Over the course of this paper, I will explain my American Culture courtshipand marriagetraditions through the etic eye to show the perspective to an outsider, and I will examine an aspect of the Sub Saharan African polygyny marriage from an emic perspective to become familiar with this lifestyle. In this section, I will examine the American culture in courtship and marriage from an etic perspective. As Crapo(2013) describes etic as etic models invariably describe cultures in ways that seem alien to its participants but facilitate comparisons between cultures and the discovery of universal principles in the structure and functioning of cultures (p.27). In the article Body Ritual among the Nacierema, Miner(1956) describes an aspect of the Nacierema culture from an etic perspective, allowing readers to realize the Nacierema are Americans. From an etic eye, Americans practice probably seems as strange to an outsider, as their culture is to ours. In American culture, there is courtship and marriage. Courtship in ... • 7. My Most Unforgettable Week Of My Life POW! I dive left to go for the save. The game had just ended and we were now in the penalty shootout. I had to make so many saves in the game to get us to a PK shootout. Back in March, my parents signed me up for the soccer camp with a friend. Last year my parents won a ticket for the soccer camp, at first I did not want to go but since the camp was full and there were no other tickets I had to go so I did. After the first two days I really liked the camp, by the end of it I realized that it would have been more fun with a friend. This year we got a friend that could go to it this time. There were supposed to be three of us, but one of the friend s parent forgot to sign their kid into the camp. This was my most unforgettable week of my life because this was just such a good camp, plus I got one of my highlights of my goalie career to me. The camp that I went to was at Dail soccer/track complex at NC State University. It had a baseball field right next to it with a camp going on for softball. It also took place on the other two fields across the street, yet there is a tunnel underneath the street that we took. For the games for overtime it did not work the same as normal we went straight to the penalty shootout, instead of having two overtime periods. This week happened to me because my parents were able to sign me up for the camp. My parents learned about the camp from last year. They had won a ticket into the camp and since it was sold out my parents looked at the web page for it to see what it was about and thought I would enjoy it, so I went to it. On the first day of camp we went and filled everything out so I could have fun and any insurance for the camp, I don t know I went to the camp to have fun I did not pay any attention to the signing in anything else to start the camp. After that, I went and found my group I was supposed to be in which turned out to be the second goalie group. In the second goalie group, we were more like a group of people that have some problems with ourselves. Most of the people in our group would talk when our coach talked or wanted them to pay attention. Then there were the other people, like me, in the group who wanted to get as far as possible in training and wanted to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Malvolio Twelfth Night The role of Malvolio in Twelfth Night is, generally, being the target of Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria s pranks and foolishness. At the beginning of the play, he is very easy to find intolerable, due to his killjoy like behaviour and vanity. However, by the end of the play, the audience mostly feel sorry for him, because of the malicious way that Sir Toby and others treat Malvolio. Despite this, Malvolio is one of the main sources of comedy, due to his gullibility and, as some say, his foolishness . My argument is that Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria are the real fools of Twelfth Night Sir Toby in particular. Fool a person who acts unwisely or imprudently; a silly person. My first point is Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria are the real fools of Twelfth Night, since they create the foolishness, while Malvolio is simply a victim of their foolish behaviour. This foolish behaviour is the pranks that Sir Toby and others pull and Malvolio is a victim of it since he is the victim of all their pranks. For example, Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria forged a love letter from Olivia, addressed to M, O, A, I (Malvolio). In this letter, Olivia says Remember who commended thy yellow stockings, and wished to see thee ever cross gartered . Malvolio falls for this and wears cross gartered yellow stockings. Another display of their pranks is when Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, Maria and Fabian tie Malvolio up in a dark room Come, we ll have him in a dark room and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It helps to exfoliate the dead skin cells gently, kills the bacteria propionibacterium acnes which is generally known as P acnes and neutralizes the sebum which is the oily substance P acnes feeds and thrives on. How is Apple Cider Vinegar made? Apple cider vinegar is obtained by the fermentation of apple cider or apple must which is made from crushed organic apples. Just for your information, fermentation means an act of conversion. Organic apples have some kind of bacteria and yeast on their skins. So when they are crushed, you get pure apple juice with a mixture of bacteria and yeast. After which you leave it to mature for a while. During this process, sugar in the apple cider is broken down by yeast and bacteria which turns into alcohol. It s more like a brewing process which eventually turns into vinegar after a second fermentation. • 11. Workers Rights In The 20th Century Throughout the Twentieth Century, the evolution of workers rights in the workplace has drastically evolved. Through the utilization of constitutional freedoms, workers across the nation came together to support the goal of receiving fair treatment from employers when it came to wages, work conditions, and benefits. However, this wasn t achieved without great sacrifice from the average man as standing up for their rights was a brave act that usually resulted in consequences. During the early stages of the Twentieth Century, the labor force was focused more on industrial jobs than agricultural jobs as technology was evolving. About 24 million Americans ranging from 10 years and above were employed. The number of women working in the workforce was about 19 percent as children in the workforce was about 6 percent of the labor force. The work force was dominated by men as culture deemed them to be superior than women. Children worked as some parents couldn t provide enough for their families, so they sent their children off to work in dangerous conditions. As the second industrial revolutionwas nearing its end, many people were employed in factories which received low pay and dangerous conditions as the average week was 53 hours. At the start of the 20th Century, only 15 percent of people that got injured in the workplace were successful in suing their employer and received money for the damages. Computer Management System And Its Impact On Business... 1.2 According to David Ingram (2015) CMS refers to systems and processes to collect data from different sources in order to present information in a more understandable layout. Beynon Davies (2015,p.2) argues Computer management system it s extremely significant for business activities overall, because for businesses data it s the most powerful factor as information its critical to create competiveness among private sector, as through systems information organisations are always aware of anything related to sales, orders, stock control and records , and this information it s what it contributes for businesses realisation overall due to the ability that each systems has on gathering up to date data. CMS minimizes overload data, because the system has the ability to modify the larger amount of information data by summarizing everything in order to avoid managers to get confused and get flooded with exhaustive details (Management hub,2016). CMS function at some point its mainly to focus on helping organisations functions such forecasting ,payroll or costing to develop more efficiently, as CMS role is to make sure that only correct information its collected from different sources and then processed and delivered to the right departments , because MIS function is to fulfil managers necessities at all levels (Role of the management information systems,2012). Colonial America Without The Indians Axtell Summary Native Americans, or Indians, as they were mistakenly called, have been the pathetic footnotes to the main course of American history (Axtell 981). But James Axtell, the author of Colonial America without the Indians: Counterfactual Reflections, would beg to differ. He says that instead, Indians played a key role in making America great. James Murray gives another term to describe America s greatness: America s exceptionalism. Throughout his article Axtell makes many points as to why Indians played a vital role in American Exceptionalism . He even says that America wouldn t have been colonized nearly as soon if the Indians were gone, because Columbus would know he was not in the Indies and move on. So because they simply existed in the first place, Axtell says they were significant in the history of our country. Furthermore, he says Indians specifically played a vital role in the exceptionality of America s early economy, culture, and historical events and places. I never thought about how much the Indians contributed to the economy of early colonial America. However, without the Native Americans There would have been no maizeor Indian corn, the staple crop grown throughout the colonial period to feed people and sometimes fatten livestock for export (Axtell 988). I believe Mr. Axtell raises an excellent point in this statement. Without the Indians to teach the early settlers, they would never have survived the harsh winters, and would have starved and died out very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Today, as we enter a new age of Internet technology, the quest for defining oneself has shifted online. While many, especially the younger generation, embrace the liberation that digital communities offer, others are apprehensive of the dangers that lurk in the virtual world. The anxiety is not entirely unjustified. Nevertheless, the truth is the benefits that accompany online communities far outweigh its drawbacks. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The misrepresentation and manipulation of one s identity is an ongoing concern for many. Chandler cites that some critics are alarmed by the excessive manipulation of public identities. In support, Boyd bought up the issue of staged imagery not truly representative of one s behaviors. Despite the fact that the vast majority of online users tend to portray a polished self representation by ridding the undesirable aspects, there are some others that are utterly unpretentious. They frequently include details in their Web pages that are not glamorizing, but are what they felt necessary to paint a more genuine picture of themselves. There are still some who constructed online identities not for the pursuit of self definition, but for others to come to terms with a side of themselves that they have difficulty disclosing face to face. Chandler presents two examples in which two gay personal home page authors use their website to inform others about their homosexuality. One of them, Rob, mentioned that people can consider his side of the story before reacting (Chandler, 2004). Staying Connected One reason why so many people are fascinated with online communities is the ability to socialize not only with immediate circle of friends, but with a much broader secondary network of peers and people with a shared interest. • 18. A Narrative Of The Captivity And Restoration Held Captive, but not in Spirit Puritans take their relationship with God seriously, see him as good, and rely on the Bible for guidance by reading it diligently. They look for ways that the Bible resembles their own real life situations and try to carry on similar as they did. This is called typology and is reoccurring theme in the narrative, A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration, written by Mary Rowlandson. Rowlandson was taken captive by Indians in 1675, she documented those eleven weeks in this narrative (Rowlandson ,256). It is a tragic tale that starts with seeing her family and friends drowning in their own blood, all the while seeing her old life go up in smoke. Mary is a fine example of puritanfaith who never gave up hope. In Mary Rowlandson s narrative she demonstrates her puritan faith through typology and relying fully on Gods providence to revive her spirit daily. Mary having only the cloths on her back, a sick baby, and a moldy cake in her pocket could only rely on God s providence to keep her and give her favor. She was wounded when taken captive, but God sent her someone to help her and give her medicine to apply to her wound. Then I took oaken leaves and laid to my side, and with the blessing of God it healed me also, (Rowlandson, 261). We may not consider these to be big blessings, but to Mary being in such a desolate state that they became her bread and butter. The perceptual system is comprised of a of a diverse range of senses including visual, auditory, olfactory and tactition; the perceptual system is part of the nervous system, which contains millions of nerve cells called receptors that sense and respond to a plethora of sensory stimuli including light, sound and temperature. The vibrant environment to which Gibson refers is composed of images and surfaces with varying densities, textures, sizes, distances and shapes, and the interaction or movement of the observer and the movement of the object provide ample information to generate perception. Gibson emphasises the significance of what he terms the optic array whereby light reflected from a multitude of textured surfaces unites in the visual field occupied by the observer, thus altering in conjunction with the position of the observer, hence providing information about where the object is in space. Furthermore, Gibson purposed that in addition to the optic array, invariants or higher order features, such as horizon ration relation and texture gradient offer explicit insight into the nature of the environment (as cited in Pike Edgar, 2010, pp 74 76). Horizon ration relation explored by Sedgwick (1973) enables us to judge relative heights and distances of objects; the distance of objects can be judged as the ratio of the proportion of the horizon above to below the object remains constant, however if objects viewed at the same distance differ in height the overall height of the horizon correspondingly increases (as cited in Pike Edgar, 2010 pp 74 76). Likewise, texture gradient provides information about the density, height, and width of individual elements contained within and varying from surface to surface. Spending time at the lake as an adult has made the man realize that his life has become unsettling and restless, like the tides of the ocean. I would be in the middle of some simple act, I would be picking up a bait box or laying down a table fork, or I would be saying something and suddenly it would be not I but my father who was saying the words or making the gesture (White 151). When the man lay in bed early one morning, he heard his son sneak out to take a canoe out on the lake, just as he used to do when he was a child. By living a dual existence the man could see from two perspectives; his son sneaking out early in the morning, his father lying in bed listening to his son sneak out. I began to sustain the illusion that he was I, and therefore, by simple transposition, that I was my father (White 151). The man s alternate ways of viewing these events convinced him that he was becoming his father. This thought eventually leads to the man s realization that he will die someday, just as his father did. A thunderstorm came over the lake one day when the man was a child. Most early video games did not include people to people violence like most games now, they were just the gateway into the world of violence. The founder of Atari, Nolan Bushnell said, We had an internal rule that we wouldn t allow violence against people. You could blow up a tank or you could blow up a flying saucer, but you couldn t blow up people (Douglass). Later companies formed and with them came better graphics, therefore more gore.
