Swedish Vampire Films and Their Effect On Youth Essay
Vampire films are gaining popularity in many countries. The majority of these vampire films
portray one dimensional love or horror stories. Unlike other vampire films, Let the Right One In
is a complex film and novel that can be interpreted to reflect social problems in Sweden. The film
and novel illustrates a divide between young people and adults in Swedish society. These
different age groups are represented by different characters. The Swedish vampire, Eli, is not
simply a monster, but she is a complex character with which the audience can sympathize as she
appears to be a twelve year old girl. Although Eli is not a human child, Eli represents youth fighting
against the dangers of Swedish society. Eli must murder to stay alive,... Show more content on

If there are no benefits left for other generations of Swedes, then the youth may face higher levels
of poverty. Eli s victims contrast the people Hakan murders because his victims are all young
people. Hakan exemplifies one of the dangers youth face. Although not fully portrayed in the film,
Hakan is a pedophile. In the novel, Hakan does take advantage of a young boy s desperate
situation. The boy has no money and must prostitute himself. The author may be directing attention
to the problem of poor youth that do not have the means to survive. This could be another example
of the social welfare system of Sweden benefitting the adults, while the children suffer. In
addition to Hakan victimizing a young boy, Hakan rapes Eli. While in Tommy s basement, Eli
was being handled, like an object (Lindquivst 392). However, Eli fights back and escapes from
Hakan. Eli s escape represents that Swedish youth face these sexual dangers and must fight off
these dangerous adults. In addition to Hakan sexually victimizing young kids, the people Hakan
harvests blood from for Eli are young people. First, Hakan kills a teenage boy in the woods.
Then, he attempts to murder a boy at the pool, but Hakan fails as the boy wakes up and screams
for help. Perhaps the failed murder shows the progression of youth in Sweden standing up to the
oppression of dangerous adults. When young people ban together they are able to save each other.
The theme of young people saving each

Why Is Donald Sterling Banned From The NBA
On April 29, 2014, Donald Sterling was banned from the NBA and fined $2.5 million due to
racist remarks. The NBA is now trying to decide whether or not Sterling will have to sell the
team. In order for that to happen в…” of NBA owners will have to vote for him to sell the team.
The NBA Board of Governors may well decide to force Sterling to sell the team, which Forbes
now values at $575 million. (www.forbes.com) Many people believe that Sterling deserves this
punishment for what he said, while others do not. It started with a picture posted of Sterlings

they get successful, will help their people. And some of other African Americans maybe I ll get

was that his only mistake? Over the years, Sterling has been involved in multiple lawsuits in

Sterling said that he wanted tenants that fit his image, and claimed there was an odor in the
buildings from the blacks. He also said it was unclean because of the Mexicans smoking. He said

The Tempest By William Shakespeare Essay
What do we think about monsters? Monsters are part of our popular culture and have been used
invidious media since our earlier times. They have been used to instill fear in us, and to make us
timid to our approach of the unknown and the unnatural. This fear of monsters and the unknown
has unfortunately also applied to other humans as well. Shakespeare s The
Tempest uses one character, Caliban, to represent the imagery of the unknown and as a savage
monster in the viewpoint of exploring Europeans. Using The Tempestand other works such as
Cesaire s A Tempest and Achebe s An Image of Africa, I will describe the struggles of Caliban
from the story lens and a post colonial lens and to identify how he is being described as monster
in Shakespeare s final work. In The Tempest, along with being an enslaved being of the magical
Prospero, Caliban is also noticeably the only known native of the island in which Prospero and
his daughter have inhabited since their betrayal a decade plus before. According to Caliban
himself (and also Prospero and Ariel), he is the offspring of a witch who s name is Sycorax. Yes,
Caliban, her son. (338, Act I Scene II) Sycorax, along with Caliban, was one of the few natives
of the secluded island and was a very powerful witch. Several interpretations of Sycorax are
widespread in historical mythology and cultures, but one of the most noticeable is being a witch
who is a native from Africa. Because of fear over her abilities, Sycorax is

Essay about The Whiteness of the Whale
The Great White Whale and its Many Meanings Herman Melville, in his epic novel Moby Dick,
utilizes the symbolism of the color of the Great White Whale to demonstrate his theme of
duality. However, Captain Ahab tragically had a single mind set towards Moby Dick, as he
believed that the whale was the symbol of the world s evil and had to be destroyed. On the other
hand, Ishmael sees that the color white can mean many various and opposing things. It would be
dangerous to settle upon any one single meaning. In the chapter, The Whiteness of the Whale,
Melville explains the importance of duality of meaning in the world, as opposed to man s (and
Ahab s) desire to see only one meaning in any one thing. Melville utilizes the symbol of the... Show

He believed that the color of white had many meanings to many persons. Ishmael realized that
the color white can represent beauty. Whiteness refiningly enhances beauty, as if imparting
some special virtue of its own, as in marbles, japonicas, and pearls. Another characteristic of the
color white is strength, such as that of the polar bear or the great white shark. Ishmael also said
the white can mean spirited leadership, such as the great white steeds. Contributes to the daily
state of kings and queens drawn by milk white steeds; though even in the higher mysteries of the
most august religions is has been made the symbol of the divine spotlessness an power. Unlike
Ahab, Ishmael saw the duality in white as he also understood that white could also be awesome,
even fearsome, as man gazes across the white wastes of the prairies covered with snow and ice,
or the white foaming sea hurled upon the rocky coasts by a frightful storm. To view his ship
sailing through a midnight sea of milky whiteness as if from encircling headlands shoals of
combed white bears. Due to Ishmaels s ability to view the whiteness of Moby Dick through many
viewpoints it secured his survival on the inevitably disastrous voyage of the Pequod. Melville
presents the various meanings of the color white. He shows the reader that no one thing means
anything definitely. The meaning of any object comes from in the values the individual

Compare the Presentation of War in the poems Dulce et Decorum est , by Wilfred Owen and
Icarus Allsorts , by Roger McGough.
Dulce et Decorum est was written by Wilfred Owen and Icarus Allsorts was written by Roger
McGough. Dulce was written during WW1. Wilfred Owen wrote this poem while he was in a
military hospital. In the poem Owen reveals the chilling truth about what WW1 was really like.
Icarus was written in the tension of the Cold War. In the poem Roger McGough turns a very
serious (fake) event into a joke. Dulce was written in 1917 and published in 1920. It was written
to show that Jessie Pope s poem Who s for the Game was a whole pot of lies. Icarus Allsorts was
written in 1964. It was written to get residents of planet Earth ... Show more content on

The tone/mood in Dulce is sad and negative. In all my helpless dreams, before my helpless sight
he plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning. In this quotation Owen is referring to a dream
he has had. Also he is describing what is happening in the dream a man is drowning from gas.
He is also having this dream because the things he has seen in war are things that will stick in
his head forever. This is sad and negative. In 2012 we have computers, radios, T.V.s etc. and can
find out what the conditions were like in any war but back in 1917 when WW1 was going on the
only way for a family member to know what their son/dad/nephew/grandson was seeing was
through a poem and reading poems like Dulce would make them feel worried and sad.
Another difference is the way both poems are written. Icarus is written like a news report. Using
a lack of punctuation does this. This stanza is an example of the lack of punctuation used in the
poem. From every corner of the earth bombs began to fly there were even missile jams no traffic
lights in the sky in the time it takes to blow your nose the people fell, the mushrooms rose. This
lack of use of punctuation makes you read the poem fast this relates to how quick a nuclear bomb
can drop and destroy. Also the lack of punctuation communicates the idea that all the events from
the poem are occurring simultaneously as the bombs explode. Dulce is written like a diary as it is
written in the first person. I saw him drowning Also Dulce is

Crystal Violet Formal Lab Essay
Determination of Reaction Rate Law from the Reaction of Crystal Violet with Sodium
Hydroxide ______________________________________________ Abstract: This experiment
helps determine the rate of reaction of crystal violet while it reacts with sodium hydroxide with
respect to crystal violet. The amount of sodium hydroxide is varied in this experiment while
crystal violet is kept at a constant. The transmittance of crystal violet is observed and recorded
using a colorimeter and the data obtained is used to plot graphs which are manipulated using
LoggerPro software to produce the desired outcome; rate of reaction of crystal violet. Upon
completion of the experiment it was seen that the rate of reaction of crystal violet turned out to be 1

It must be noted that only the absolute value of the slope matters in this situation. Third order
reactions have somewhat a similar story except they require a plot of 1/concentration versus
time to determine rate of reaction. When all three graphs are plotted, the graph with the line of
best fit, or the one in which all point seem to be on a straight line is the correct one for the
reaction. This is easily drawn using the LoggerPro software. When all three graphs are drawn,
the graph with the best fit line and lowest root mean square error, or the lowest deviation from
the best fit line, is the graph to be used to determine reaction kinematics. This knowledge is
acquired from the equations of the integrated rate laws which are explained in the textbook. The
solutions are mixed in small amounts in cuvettes and inserted into the colorimeter, which reads
the percentage transmittance during the time period. The colorimeter has an enclosed space for
the cuvette to be inserted making sure light from other sources does not interfere with the
reaction, hence providing accurate results. The rate of the reaction is determined by using the
equation: Rate= k [CV+] [OH ], where k is the rate constant for the reaction. Materials: Solutions
of crystal violet and sodium hydroxide were available in the laboratory which were previously
prepared of concentrations 2.00 E 5 and 2.00 E 2 respectively. Deionized water was used

A Career Path For A Career In College
This are questions that have plagued me during my whole time in college. What career path do I
want to follow? Where do I want to be in in six years? How do I get there to begin with? What
are ways for me to get contacts and network in the field of my choosing? In what field do I want
my career to developed? Those are all questions that I have seek to answer during the writing of
this paper. Therefore, let s start by discussing what my current goals are, first graduating from
college is the number one priority. Thereafter, I will like to apply for a job in either recreation or
parks. Even though this seems like a career path slightly different from what my current major of
sports managementand recreation, there are a plethora of ways in which they are interconnected.
During our time in class I have discovered that, the most jobs related to my field are not exactly
in the sports management side, but in the parks and recreation side of the major. Consumers now
days are more willing to spend money on recreation than ever before. Therefore, leading to the job
market of parks and recreation to be ever increasing in both the public and private sector. To
accomplish my goals in the future I must first be able to get my foot in the door, Internships with
Miami Dade County assistant director s office or the operations office seem to be the best way to
get into a job with the county government. Nevertheless, there are skills that I must be proficient

Unit 207 Understand Person Centred Approaches Essays
Unit 207 Understand person centred approaches in adult social care settings.
Outcome 1 Understand person centred approaches for care and support.
1.1 Define Person centred values.
Person centred values means the people whom we support are treated as equals and are involved
in all aspects and areas of their care and that they are respected and valued as individuals. This
means being involved in their assessments, care delivery and support planning, basically person
centred values is making sure all approaches, policies and procedures and care practices put the
residents at the centre of the day to day activities. It should also include the residents and their
families in the planning and maintaining of this.
1.2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The development of a support plan is the perfect example of how person centred working operates.
Instead offering people a choice of what is currently available and finding what best fits their
needs, person centred working looks at someone s needs and built the support package around
them. One of the important aspects of person centred planning is to look at what people are able
to do for themselves and to ensure that services are not taking over aspects of a person s life that
they could perfectly well manage without support.
Outcome 3 Understand the importance of establishing consent when providing care or support.
3.1 Define the word consent
Consent is the informed agreement to an action and/or decision. Permission for something to
happen or agreement to do something.
3.2 Explain the importance of gaining consent when providing care or support.
When working with an individual it is important to uphold their rights to be fully involved in their
own care, whilst adhering to legal requirements. It is also the individuals right to refuse any care,
support or treatment they do not want. It is also essential that people not only give you their
consent but also that they understand what they are consenting to and the implications of this.
Gaining consent protects not just the career but the individual receiving the care and support as
well. If no consent is given then you cannot proceed with the care. It is illegal to pressure anyone

Social Inequality in Elderly Americans
Social Inequality in Elderly Americans
Elderly people (women and men age sixty five or older) (Macionis, 2005), Have many obstacles
to face as they grow older, many of these obstacles involve social inequality. Not only do the
elderly have to learn to deal with many forms of Ageism (the stereotyping and prejudice against
individuals or groups because of their age), some also have to deal with the fact that they do not
have enough savings or pension benefits to be self supporting, for most people over sixty five, the
major source of income is social security (Macionis, 2005). This forces many elderly Americans

Choosing a long term care facility can be very difficult because of incidents of abuse and/or
neglect reported against care facilities can be overwhelming. For example in Ending Elder
Abuse: A family guide , Diane Sandell lists many elder abuse incidents from her files such as:
neglect of decubitis ulcers led to infection, sepsis, gangrene, and death. Facility failed to provide
necessary diabetic diet; improper insulin administration, insulin overdose; dehydration and
death. Resident left alone in chair in shower room fell, became paralyzed from neck down.
Many reports of pinching, rough handling, slapping, yelling, threats (2000). It is believed that
abuse is most likely to occur if the caregiver not only finds the work difficult but also (1) works
full time, (2) cares for young children, (3) is poor, (4) feels little affection for the older person,
(5) finds the elderly person very difficult, and (6) gets no support or help from others (Macionis,
2005). Although there is no excuse for abusing elderly Americans, it is still very prominent in
today s society. Diane Sandell explains in Ending Elder Abuse, that her 91 year old mother was
beaten by a long term care facility employee in the middle of the night for reasons unknown. It is
stated that her mother died 6 weeks after the incident, unable to recover mentally from the abuse
(2000).
In conclusion, elderly Americans face many obstacles as they grow in age, such as ageism,

Metal-Only Lewis Pairs with Transition Metal Lewis Basas
Metal Only Lewis Pairs with Transition Metal Lewis Basas
Introduction:
History of Metal Metal Dative Bonding Concept In 1961, Vaska and Diluzio synthesized a lemon
yellow compound known as the organometallic complex trans [IrCl(CO)(PPh3)2]. This was
achieved by reducing iridium(III) to iridium(I) using just triphenylphosphine and an alcohol. This
was significant because they had prepared an iridium carbonyl complex without the use of carbon
monoxide. This complex has reversible dioxygen coordination, but more importantly, it is
extremely reactive with acids, halides, and dihydrogen yielding stable Ir(III) addition products.
The discovery of this Iridium complex meant that laboratories across the globe could now easily
create, in one step and several hours, an air stable compound that could undergo oxidative addition
reactions. Also, the reaction could be monitored by watching the carbonyl C O stretching band in
the IR spectrum and NMR spectroscopy later on. Because Vaska s complex was so stable, its
reactivity was limited. The complex serves as an excellent molecular platform for defining how
oxidative addition reactions make homo and heterogeneous catalysis a reality. While the term
oxidative addition is a staple in inorganic chemistry and catalysis, the step transition metal Lewis
basicity is almost never seen. There are numerous methods that a metal can cleave an element
element bond, from concerted, side on cleavage to backside attack. Most oxidative addition

Iran s Existing Institutions
The current, existing institutions set up in Iran would qualify this country as both consensual and
majoritarian. The Iranian executive branch is composed of a Supreme Leader elected by the
Assembly of Experts, a president and vice president, oversight bodies and a cabinet (World Fact
Book). The Supreme leader is appointed for life by the Assembly Experts, not through the people.
Iran also has a weak, unicameral Islamic legislative branch. It is also important to note that Iran
does not put a lot of its attention toward formalized political parties and interest groups. Iran is a
mixture of consensual and majoritarian government, but recent events and other governmental acts
prove otherwise. While most aspects in its written Constitution label Iran as consensual, the
government does not always act that way. With nearly seventy seven million people in the country
with ethnic groups including Persian, Azeri, Kurd, Lur, Baloch, Arab, Turkmen and Turkic tribes,
and others, Iran should make the educated decision to move towards a more consensual government
to better represent their people and include minority representation (Iran). To make this
transformation, the Iranian government should make changes dealing with the election system,
executivepower sharing, balance of power, political parties and federalism. The Iran election system
is composed of a simple majority, where 50 plus one votes is necessary for a candidate to win ( Iran

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Inventory Management Systems
3.2 Inventory Management Systems
Inventory management system is a system that combines the use of desktop software, barcode
scanners, barcode printers, and mobile devices to streamline the management of inventory. This
system involves procurement, storage, identification, retrieval, transport and construction methods.
Each is indelibly linked to safety, productivity and schedule performance. There are some inventory
management problems that can occur in the companies.
3.2.1 Too much distressed stock in inventory
Distressed stock is materials or products in inventory that has or will soon pass the point where it
can be sold at the normal price before it expires. This situation usually happens in grocery stores.
For instance, when a food production ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The job order costing system determines the cost of a product or service based upon three
components of price. They include direct materials, direct labour and manufacturing overhead such
as the electricity used to run machines on a production line. There are some weaknesses of using
job costing system in the calculation of the cost in the companies.
3.3.1 Combination of Actual and Estimated Cost
One of the main problems of using job order costing is the incompatible between when the
quotation is made and when the costs actually become known. Generally, prices need to be quoted
before production starts, but by using this system, the costs are known only after completing the
job. The companies are able to calculate the actual cost of labour and material charges but for the
overhead cost, only able to estimate. Therefore, there is an inaccuracy because the companies may
take a loss if they quote too low or will loss customers if they quote too high. The construction
industry and ship building industry always face these problems as the companies works on
individual projects rather than standardized

Although the Kelly s admit to survivors guilt based on their own footage it seems like they
could have done more to prevent the tragedy that happen when the other car dumped into the
whole. The only thing that Debbie and Thomas Kelly did to warn upcoming light was to put on
their flashing light. Debbie took out her recording camera and started to record the gap between
the highway, meantime a car was coming and didn t see the gap crashed in it. Instead of
recording Debbie and Thomas should have tried to grab the attention of the drivers so that they
wouldn t have fallen through the road gap. They now experience survivors guilt because they
survived not crashing into the road gap when the others did (Amaldo, 2004). Survivors guilt has
been studied in many situations because it is a psychological disorder that affects individuals that
have survived a scarring catastrophe. The Holocaust is one of these catastrophes that have left
survivors with a sense of guilt. A study done by Gertrude Schneider upon 50 Holocaust survivors
demonstrated that some but not all had a sense of survivors guilt (Schneider, 1975). Fourteen of the
interviewed victims admitted that they felt bad for being passive victims and that they would have
preferred to have died honorably (Schneider, 1975). Others said that there was no way that they
could have fought back and prevent them from going through that horrible experience of being in
the camps (Schneider, 1975).

Unwind Essay
Unwind Essay
By Asha Patel
Theme: How a leader can influence others?
Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to
do it. Dwight D. Eisenhower. In a place, where Unwinding is permitted for saving lives and
possible, people must take a stand against this rebellion. The novel, Unwind by Neal Shusterman s,
showed commitment and leadership roles throughout the novel. This type of leadership and
commitment came from Connor, Roland, and the Admiral. They showed leadership roles in their
own different ways throughout the book. This novel says that a leader can influence others by
motivation and inspiration, persuasion, and strongly believing in a vision.
The author, Neal Shusterman, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best leadership moment was in part seven, when Risa and Connor return to the Graveyard to
run it. The Admiral is too weak, having refused to take a new heart from an Unwind, and Connor
stepped in. Connor delivers a powerful speech that sets course for becoming the best leader in this
novel. Overall, Connor influenced others in a positive way and can be described as a great
positive leader in this book, Unwind.
A leader can also influence others in a negative way by using the technique, persuasion. This
leader who influenced others in a negative way was Roland. Shusterman gave Roland to have
great persuasion; and, Roland persuaded anyone who was in his way to step aside as he
persevered to become the biggest and greatest leader of all. For example he made up lies about
the Admiral saying that the Admiral used Unwinds just so he could get certain parts. He killed
Emby so he could have his hair. Also the Admiral s teeth and the scars on his face were from
unwinding. Roland is not a killer, but a fighter. He is said to be strong, brave and a good leader.
He s manipulative and uses people for his own personal gain. He is also intimidating and has a
tendency to lose his temper quickly. For example in part 2, Connor and Risa met Hayden, Mai, and
Roland all in the safe house. Roland was controlled everything, telling everyone what to do and
when to eat. Roland hated Connor from the minute he met him because he

How The Cras Played A Significant Influence On Investor...
The Big Three global credit rating agencies have garnered immense scrutiny and criticism for the
role they played in the financial crisis and rightly so they were not only at the epicenter of this
colossal debacle but also exacerbated it. There is overwhelming evidence suggesting that the
marketing and sale of the MBSs at the core of this crisis would have been virtually impossible
without the CRAs signing off. The catastrophically inaccurate ratings they granted to securities they
rated helped the markets rally and their eventual massive downgrades left not just the US but also
the world economy in utter disarray. In spite of what arguments these agencies come up with to shy
away for any responsibility the fact remains that they chose big fees and bigger market shares over
integrity in a business that relies on integrity.
To understand how the CRAs played a major role in the crisis, we must first understand why they
became such a significant influence on investor perception. Investors both individual and
institutional look at the CRAs to provide them with risk analysis of a debt security, in form of a
credit rating, which is instrumental to these investors decision making process. The risk originates
due to two main factors: the ultimate mortgage holders never having met the debtors, and the sheer
complexity of these securities that comprise of parts of a plethora of loans. Most individual
investors lack the resources to gauge the creditworthiness of these loans. This

The Issue Of Euthanasia
Living in the twenty first century we have seen many great strides in the advancement of
medicine and life sustaining technologies. These advances have resulted in improved life
expectancies and quality of life for people around the globe. These medical improvements have
raised questions about the appropriateness of life sustaining treatments in the case of people who
are terminally ill and experiencing severe pain and suffering. Are we robbing people of a dignified
deathby artificially maintaining their bodily systems? Should we really prolong life because we
fear death, even though the patients themselves may be ready to die? These questions have
received a great deal of attention in recent years, and many people are looking toward euthanasiafor
the answer.
Euthanasia is the practice of painlessly putting to death people who have incurable, painful, or
distressing diseases or handicaps. It comes from the Greek words for good and death, and is
commonly called mercy killing. It may occur when incurably ill people ask their physician or a
relative or even a friend to put them to death. There are two procedural classifications of
euthanasia. Active euthanasia refers to someone taking active steps to give a dying person their
final request, a lethal dosage of drugs in order to accelerate death. This is illegal in the United
States, Canada, and almost all other countries. Most religious groups consider it to be a form of
suicide or murder and thus immoral.

Persuasive Essay On Impeachment
President William J. Clinton sealed his fate when he declared under oath, I did not have sexual
relations with that woman ( Quote of the Day ). Former President Clinton was impeached shortly
after the statement was released due to Article Two, Section Four, which states, The President, Vice
President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment
for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors (Mount). The
article gives the House of Representatives the power to remove officials, who commit high crimes
and misdemeanors like Clinton. ( Article II Section 4. ) Impeachment originated from Great Britain,
which granted parliament a way to hold the king s ministers accountable for their public actions,
and while the founding fathers were in the process of writing the United States Constitution, the
founders valued impeachment, thus adding the article directly into the US Constitution, because
they feared that without impeachment the executive power would abuse its resources. (
Impeachment. ) The framers constructed the constitution in such a way that the House of
Representatives would vote to impeach the government official, and the official in question would
stand trial for the accusation in the Senate. Then, for the accused official to be removed from office,
they must be convicted by two thirds of the Senate. (Sunstein, Article II Section 4. ) Article Two,
Section Four of the United States Constitution upholds the President and all civil offices of the
United States to impeachment if the officials commit high crimes and misdemeanors, bribery, or
treason. For the first several decades of the Republic of the United States, the House of
Representatives took no interest in impeaching the president, but when the Reconstruction Era
rolled around, tension between the House of Represenatives and the president grew to an ultimate
high. President Johnson was left with big shoes to fill after the assassination of President Lincoln,
and while Lincoln held his own in the White House, Johnson took the back burner during his
presidency. When Johnson did stand up to the House of Representatives, they passed the Tenure of

Before networks became extensive, there was no such thing...
Before networks became extensive, there was no such thing as interior and exterior gateway
protocols. A network simply just ran on a generic routing protocol. This eventually ran into
problems so Routing Information Protocol (RIP) was developed and ran as the single routing
protocol for many years [1]. As the internet grew, however, this single routingprotocol could no
longer handle all the traffic. Because of this, over time numerous other routing protocols were
developed to meet the needs of routing. One of the numerous gateway protocols that were
developed was Border Gateway Protocol(BGP), which is classified as an exterior gateway protocol
(EGP).
BGP was developed in January 1989 at the 12th Internet Engineering Task Force Meeting... Show

This is done by rejecting any routing update in which a local AS number is contained [2]. If a local
AS was accessed and already contained, it tells BGP that the route has already passed through that
AS. Additional routing information is found in below.
To complete these tasks successfully, BGP was designed to run over a reliable transport
protocol, which is why it uses TCP as it is a connection oriented protocol (specifically port 179)
[2]. TCP also allows eliminates the need for BGP to implement explicit update information,
retransmissions, acknowledgements, and sequencing [3].The current version that is being used
since roughly 1995 is version 4. This version introduced numerous new BGP features and
extensions to allow it to forward routing information to the protocol address families IPv4, IPv6,
and CLNS [2]. This way the extensions allow all internet protocols to be valid connecting all
networks across the world.
AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS
An autonomous system is a single routing protocol in a collection of networks with the same
routing policy [4]. It can also be defined as a network controlled by a single technical
administration entity. They are usually under a single ownership and identified by a unique
number. Service providers and enterprise customers such as AT T are examples of an autonomous
system. They are used to divide external global networks into distinct routing domains so that local
routing policies can be applied [2]. This simplifies

Identity And The Identity Of Identity
We live in a world where we are constantly dealing with the question of identity. Here is one of
many definitions of the word Identity from the Merriam Webster dictionary, The relation
established by psychological identification Who am I? What am I doing here? What is my
purpose in life? These are frequently asked questions within the minds of teenagers and young
adults. In this day and age, there have been times where many teens and young adults have tried
to find psychologically where they belong in the world and where they might discover their
identity. Some will try to find their identity in other people, (i.e Celebrities, Singers, etc.) and
others will find their identity in what they listen to, or the movies they watch, and will try to
take on those personas. Because in today s society it is easier to mask who you are, rather than
discover what you are capable of. In this discourse we are going to take a look at some examples
of identity, and how we can better understand the meaning of it and how we can apply it to today.
Issue of Identity #1: In David Hume s Bundle Theory of The Self, he states that there is no fixed
self (or identity) but rather they are all mere perceptions. (Identities) Lust, love, hate, fear, sorrow,
according to Hume these are all mere perceptions that have nothing to do with the idea or
impression of self, but that it is something that we perceive to be feeling. And that we are all made

Formal Analysis of The Annuciation
The painting The Annunciation (Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland) was made in Netherlands,
or possibly France, in the 1380s, using tempera and oil with gold on wood panel. A vertical
composition of about 31.43 Г— 40.32 cm, the sacred iconography depicts the biblical scene of the
Archangel Gabriel, sent by God, announcing to the Virgin that she would soon give birth to Christ.
The artist, who was commissioned to draw this piece, is unknown. The patron probably
commissioned the artwork for devotional use. It might be part of a narrative polyptych, conveying
the biblical story of Christ, expressing the divinity of God and Christianity.
In the foreground, the two main figures of the scene, the Virgin and the Archangel, are markedly
painted larger than the figures in the background, and thus, they become the attractive focus of the
whole painting. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The excellent employment of chiaroscuro vividly shows the texture of the front of the drapery,
depicting it realistically and three dimensionally. She has a golden halo with God s messages on

face. However, she holds her hands in front of her breast, eyes gazing at God s message brought

The Virgin s serene facial expression contradicts her behavior, perhaps because the message not
only tells her the incarnation of Christ but also foreshadows his doomed death. Therefore, the
whole painting can be a polyptych. This piece is the beginning of the story, and other pieces, such

The Dangers Of Texting And Driving
Another solution that has been put into practice is the fact that texting and driving is illegal.
However, the restriction of using mobile devices while driving is currently only applied in 39
states (Simon). This makes it so that 11 states do not enact such legislation and therefore, this
solution does not work. Many of these states laws are generally not enforced due to the fact that
it is difficult to execute. Although it is illegal, the law has not stopped people from texting and
driving. Because punishments are not regularly recognized and are not strict enough, this
dangerous crime is often overlooked. The issue of texting and driving is often advertised in
campaigns on signs, the radio, or television. Although these advertisements encourage drivers
not to participate in this hazardous habit, they are just as disregarded as the law for restricted
cell phone use. These signs often do not appeal to the emotions of the audience in order to have
the effect they are looking for. The ads would be more effective if they brought in real life
experiences and showed the consequences that occur by texting and driving. The success of
these ads may increase if they showed a person in jail for murder from texting and driving or a
person who may have been paralyzed from being in an accident that may have been caused by
distracted driving. In these cases, the audience will see the physical effects that this problem causes
and will have a better chance of remembering the ad and

more and more interested. Unit 3,and especially Module 11 grabbed my attention the most. Module
11 discusses stages of memory and memory processes. This module answers the most important
questions: How our memoryworks? and How we are influenced by our memories? .
One reaction paper wouldn t be enough for me to share my thoughts and point the most important
parts of this chapter, but I will try to. The three stages model divides memory into three sequential
stages: sensory, short term, and long term memory (R.C. Atkinson Shiffrin, 1968) (Plotnik and
Kouyoumdjian 240).
It all comes to the point, whether you pay attention to information. Only if you pay attention to
information, then it will be transferred into the short term memory from sensory memory, otherwise
you would forget it. Now if you pay attention to the information in short term memory, then it would
be encoded and transferred into the long term memory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Men vs. Women The idea of different subcultures for males and females, although they live in the
same country, taught the same values, and eat the same food, is not new. Although men and women
live under the same conditions, they are expected to behave and respond differently. Thus as Maltz
puts it: The different social needs of men and women have led them to sexually differentiated
communication cultures, with each sex learning a different set of skills for manipulating words
(Maltz, p.200). Maltz explains this by saying that each one of us learns his communication culture
through the period of, approximately, age 5 to 15, when boys and girls interact socially primarily
with members of their own sex . Not only boys and girls learn to respond differently, but they learn,
self consciously, to differentiate, with exaggeration, their behavior from the other sex (Maltz,
p.203). If we talk in terms of Hofstede four dimensions of cultural differences, then American men
culture could be described a culture that

Relationships that are not traditionally accepted result in negative consequences. Father Dowling
blindly goes into making a relationship with two street walkers without even thinking about the
consequences. The society he lives in does not see prostitutes as humans with rights. Father
Dowling felt more love for them than for any one he had known in his parish, a curious, new love
that gave him a strange contentment (18). He feels a new emotion when he meets these two
girls and since he feels a strange contentment, he could potentially be feeling a fleshy love,
instead of a divine love. He keeps fooling himself into thinking that his love is just divine, but he
is hesitating on which type of affection he is giving to the girls. The relationship between a
priest and two prostitutes will not be accepted within their society and leads to many negative
consequences. In addition, the loss of rationality in decision making is an effect of radical shifts
in opinion. Father Dowling convinces himself that the girls need his love the most because no
one loves them for who they are. He decides to continue to help them and has a different opinion
on what the church believes to be correct. He only focuses on the girls and their well being and
completely forgets to send money to his mother who is also deserving of his love and support. He
is becoming irrational with the choices he is making because his opinion is

Effects Of Captive Enrichment On Fish Production Essay
Effects of Captive Enrichment on Fish Production: Fathead Minnows (Pimephales promelas)
Introduction
Environmental enrichment for fish in captive environments has not been studied often, unlike that
of mammals. However, in the last decade there have been more attempts to study it. Moreover,
structural environmental enrichment is the focal point at this time. Structural environmental
enrichment is the addition of a structure (e.g. toys, buoys, artificial vegetation) to the rearing
environment (Naslund Johnsson, 2014). Enrichment can affect a variety of aspects of the biology
of captive fish, such as, stress, injury, disease susceptibility, aggression, and energy expenditure
(Gerber et al., 2015)). A recent study conducted by Naslund and Johnsson (2014), found that
environmental enrichment can be divided into groups. These groups include: physical enrichment,
sensory enrichment, dietary enrichment, social enrichment, and occupational enrichment. Since,
some of those are difficult to test, physical enrichment is what is being studied now. All species of
fish are not the same and prefer certain substrates rather than others. Therefore, since the Fathead
Minnows that we will be studying and conducting this research on, will depend on what they prefer.
The goal of this study is to test whether captive enrichment effects the reproduction success of P.
promelas.
Background
Fat Head minnows can survive in a variety of environments such as creeks, headwaters, rivers,
lakes, and

a....that our governments are too unstable, that the public good is disregarded in the conflicts of

2.What does Madison rely on to prevent one branch of government from encroaching on

a.Ambition, human nature shows that men inherently put their own self above others. He does not

Strategic Process
Figure 1 is an illustration of what constitutes the strategic process with each of the stages
thoroughly investigated against internal and external factors of the organization. The formulation
stage is critical in identifying a roadmap for an organization. At this stage, there are usually senior
executives or policymakers. Once their work is complete the strategy is cascaded down for
implementation usually to line managers and public officials in the case of policy decisions who
implement according their understanding and interpretation of the main aims and objectives of the
strategy. This second stage of the strategic process forms the basis for this study.
The last stage of the strategic process is evaluation; an assessment of the ... Show more content on

Further, the more people involved in the formulation could also result in strategies not being
formulated at all as a result of competing interests and ideologies. In this regard, other tools of
involvement should be utilized to ensure that there is at least a general acknowledgement of the
core of the strategy by those who will be affected.
The gap between formulation and implementation is that formulation tends to be done by senior
management and that implementation is left to middle management to execute. For the senior
management, once strategy is set, interest among (them) fall rapidly away, implementation efforts
pull up short, operational behaviours and short term goals take over. The result is suboptimal
performance; strategy becomes a bywork for top management away days. Their disintrest gets lost
not only because they do not want to be involved but also that they lack the knowledge and skill to
translate strategy into action (Freedman: 26). This shortcoming results to their lack of coordination
and supervision and they do not adequately oversee the on going actioning of the plan s
recommendations. When it comes to implementation, top management not only fails to be involved
but also does not provide the needed supporting structures such as communication, resources and
managerial support (Simkin: 121 122). Alashloo, Castka and Sharp (2005) revealed that there are
four impeders which play a critical role in the success or failure of the strategy.

June Boyce-Tillman s Hildegard Network
Life: Hildegard of Bingen, who lived from 1098 to 1179, was the tenth child of a noble couple
who promised her to the service of the church as a tithe. At eight years old, Hildegard entered
into the Benedictine monastery at Mount St. Disibode to start her formal education. Raised by a
religious recluse, Hildegard lived in a stone cell with a single window and took her vows at the
age of fourteen. As a child, Hildegard experienced vivid visions, which she kept hidden throughout
her childhood. However, these visions intensified later in life and she was reportedly able to
foretell the future. At age eighteen, Hildegard took her vows to become a nun. After the death of
her teacher, Hildegard became the head of the community at twenty years old. Around the year
1150, she founded her own convent in Rupertsberg, Germany on the Rhine River near Bingen. At
age forty two, Hildegard experienced the mystical vision that transformed her life. After falling ill,

Essay Analysis of the Gladiator Trailer
Analysis of the Gladiator Trailer
Trailers are important to films for a number of reasons. They promote a film and present it to the
target audience, in order to encourage them to watch the film. Trailers also give the audience
expectations of the film. The audience like to know what to expect of a film before they go and
see it. The audience is given a taste of the story and the basic plot. This is done by showing an
array of clips that are edited to a certain degree. The trailer normally ends with a cliff hanger .
This is a term used to explain when an audience is not told the ending of a story. This makes them
wonder in suspense as to what the possible endings could be, therefore drawing them ... Show more

I am looking at the camera shots/angles, colours, lighting, sound, plot, target audience and genre.
The film Gladiator is an epic, action, war film with some romance and a lot of history. The opens
image is of the universal logo, an instantly recognisable big name. This is where the film was
made. The following image is of the DreamWorks logo. This is a Steven Spielberg company with
a credible reputation. This is a distribution company. A dramatic drumbeat is heard at the start of
the opening image which tells us instantly the genre of the film, an epic war film. This is because a
heavy drumbeat is a reminiscent of battle.
The first actual shot of the trailer is of the words THE GENERAL is then shown in bold whit
capital letters. I t stands out upon the black background. The words move back and eventually
fade into the background. At the beginning of this shot the music builds up, trumpets now
accompany the drums. This gives out a sense of defiance and strength. The audience associates
this with war and battle. This next shot is a mid shot of a man walking boldly with his head up
high. He is walking through lines of soldiers in big strides. He is also dressed in armour, so we
assume he is the general. The general has a stern, solemn expression he seems secure and confident.
The lighting is bright but creates the sense of an austere atmosphere and a

Informative Essay On Slapstick
Now of days there are many different types of humor that make people laugh around the world.
They can range from a common conventional joke to any type of irony. Although I believe
physical humor or slapstick is the most hilarious to me. I think slapstick humor is the best because
it s used the most, can be used in other parts of humor, and has been around for ages. First let s talk
about, what is physical humor and where does the term slapstick come from. So most people
know what slapstick is when it comes to physical humor, but many do not know where the word
came from. The word slapstick came from the Italian word batacchio or batacchio. Slapstick is also
a descendent of the comic routines of Italian Commedia Dell arte touring players,... Show more

For instance conventional jokes can include physical comedy. Famous comedian Kevin Hart for
example does this in most of his standup acts. During his act when he was talking about his first
time cursing he included physical humor twice. First when he got an attitude with his mom and
said how she slapped him, he slapped himself to give effect to what he was saying. The second
was when his mom gave him permission to curse at school but he took it to fare. So as Kevin
Hart state I got an ass whooping and my mom beat the shit out of me. Now some people might
not find this funny that a mother is beating her child. Although the crowd that night did, this is a
well known Kevin Hart piece. To continue physical humor can also be mixed in with irony. Now
irony is an event that seems purposely different to what one expects and is often amusing as a
result. A normal example of irony would be for instance a dog playing a piano like in the
Muppets, or a tow truck towing another tow truck. An example of irony with physical humor
would when someone is walking and steps on a banana pill. You would think they would just keep
walking, but instead they slip and fall on the banana. These examples with the irony and
conventional jokes show that physical humor can be implied with other types of

H.G. Wells The Time Machine Essay examples
When the time traveler thought of the future he made assumptions that would suggest that the in
the future, society would act in a progressive manner. He believed that society would be free of
disease, that the human species would be very advanced compared to the humans in his time, and
that the human beings in this society would not know fear because of their advances in technology.
These assumptions are soon proven false early on when the time traveler thought he ...had built the

does not progress all the time but will eventually regress. When the time traveler notices that the

Relying on technology becomes associated with this utopian society, and certain problems such
as laziness can arise because of this. Laziness as a result of dependency on technology proves to
be fatal. An example of this would be when one thinks about the Sphinx s riddle. At first, society
finds the answer to the riddle through one specific way of thinking and arriving at that answer,
but because of technology anything originally learned can then be referenced so that eliminates
the need to remember it. Now if someone who comes from a society that is dependent on
technology is asked this riddle, he will have no way of answering the question because he would
first need to look at technology for the answer. Wells suggests that this shows that after arriving to
a utopian state, a society dependent on technology can have a reduced ability to think. When the
time traveler first entered this society in the future, the first thing he noticed was the Sphinx that
had its wings ...spread so it seemed to hover (18). There are other instances in the story where an
idea is seen as just floating or hovering into the time traveler s mind. While he is thinking about
how the Eloi have become reacquainted with fear ... suddenly there came into my head the memory
of meat I had seen in the Underworld. It seemed odd how it floated into my mind... (49). This
suggests that the time traveler is

The Concept Of Fair Trade
In this essay, I will discuss the concept of Fair Trade, and what it means in regards to
globalization. More specifically, in this essay I will attempt to explore the potential of this
theory, in regards to how it addresses the exploitations and inequalities created by the current
system as addressed by certain authors. I also look to see if the concept of Fair Trade conforms
to the ideology of modernization as some scholars seem to believe. Finally, I look into the
application of this theory in the real world, and see if it reaches the potential that many believe it
is capable of. In order to discuss Fair Trade, one must first know what it is. In 2001, the FINE
Consensus (the initials of the FLO, the IFAT, NEWS!, and the EFTA) defined Free Trade
as, ..[A]
trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, which seeks greater equity in
international trade. (FINE Consensus 2001) What stunned me is the fact that this is considered a
revolutionary idea. Instead, the narrative now is much closer to the idea of neo liberalism. Neo
liberals draw their beliefs from many classical economic thinkers, such as Adam Smith. What Smith
believed was best for the market was for there to be very little interference by the government, and
to allow the invisible hand of the individual consumer determine the outcome. John Bishop states
the argument as such: The invisible hand of the market will transform the individual s pursuit of
gain into the general utility of society.

Why Is Robert Graves Considered To Be A Soldier In The...
This story is about a young man s childhood along with his role in the military, his name is Robert
Graves. He started his childhood off with reading countless books and entering preparatory
schools. He had gone to several preparatory schools before attending the Charterhouse. After
talking about his life in school, he enlisted in the military. After registering, he had entered into the
Third Battalion as an officer or lieutenant. The part of this book that I was interested in was
definitely was when he served in the First World Waras a young officer. Though, even further in
depth, I had thought that the scenes that Graves described being in the trenches and coming up on
dead bodies was an interesting part. The military and combat had always been an interesting topic,
but the stories from soldiers and veterans had furthered my understanding. When soldiers tell...

The trench was made out of red clay and contained a dugout for protection of shells. Since they

When Graves met a friend named Siegfried Sassoon a person of poetry, just like Graves himself.
Sassoon believed that Graves s poetry about the war was too realistic, as Sassoon s poetry was
light. However, Sassoon had not been introduced to the trenches yet. I believe this shows an
outsider s perspective of something such as the trenches, compared to an individual that has been in
them. I have had family members in the military and have heard their stories, so I have a picture
of what it is like, but I have not been in them myself so I do not have the same outlook as those
who have. I have a better image of a trench compared to a person who just thinks it is a hole in
the ground. In my opinion, Graves is trying to create a point that people don t know the horror of a
trench or war in general until they have experienced it

  • 2. Swedish Vampire Films and Their Effect On Youth Essay Vampire films are gaining popularity in many countries. The majority of these vampire films portray one dimensional love or horror stories. Unlike other vampire films, Let the Right One In is a complex film and novel that can be interpreted to reflect social problems in Sweden. The film and novel illustrates a divide between young people and adults in Swedish society. These different age groups are represented by different characters. The Swedish vampire, Eli, is not simply a monster, but she is a complex character with which the audience can sympathize as she appears to be a twelve year old girl. Although Eli is not a human child, Eli represents youth fighting against the dangers of Swedish society. Eli must murder to stay alive,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If there are no benefits left for other generations of Swedes, then the youth may face higher levels of poverty. Eli s victims contrast the people Hakan murders because his victims are all young people. Hakan exemplifies one of the dangers youth face. Although not fully portrayed in the film, Hakan is a pedophile. In the novel, Hakan does take advantage of a young boy s desperate situation. The boy has no money and must prostitute himself. The author may be directing attention to the problem of poor youth that do not have the means to survive. This could be another example of the social welfare system of Sweden benefitting the adults, while the children suffer. In addition to Hakan victimizing a young boy, Hakan rapes Eli. While in Tommy s basement, Eli was being handled, like an object (Lindquivst 392). However, Eli fights back and escapes from Hakan. Eli s escape represents that Swedish youth face these sexual dangers and must fight off these dangerous adults. In addition to Hakan sexually victimizing young kids, the people Hakan harvests blood from for Eli are young people. First, Hakan kills a teenage boy in the woods. Then, he attempts to murder a boy at the pool, but Hakan fails as the boy wakes up and screams for help. Perhaps the failed murder shows the progression of youth in Sweden standing up to the oppression of dangerous adults. When young people ban together they are able to save each other. The theme of young people saving each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The NBA is now trying to decide whether or not Sterling will have to sell the team. In order for that to happen в…” of NBA owners will have to vote for him to sell the team. The NBA Board of Governors may well decide to force Sterling to sell the team, which Forbes now values at $575 million. And some of other African Americans maybe I ll get in trouble again they don t want to help anybody. Sterling claimed he only made one mistake, but was that his only mistake? Over the years, Sterling has been involved in multiple lawsuits in which tenants of buildings that he owns have alleged discriminatory treatments. (http://nba.si.com) Sterling said that he wanted tenants that fit his image, and claimed there was an odor in the buildings from the blacks. He also said it was unclean because of the Mexicans smoking. He said So we have to get them out of here. Another time, players Sam Cassell, Elton Brand and Corey Maggette complained about Sterling women into the locker room while they were showering. He made comments like look at those beautiful black bodies. Even after it was brought to his attention, Sterling continued to bring women into the locker rooms. A big question about the topic is: Was the Sterling tape recorded illegally? V. Stiviano is the woman who is said to have recorded the conversation. • 4. The Tempest By William Shakespeare Essay What do we think about monsters? Monsters are part of our popular culture and have been used invidious media since our earlier times. They have been used to instill fear in us, and to make us timid to our approach of the unknown and the unnatural. This fear of monsters and the unknown has unfortunately also applied to other humans as well. Shakespeare s The Tempest uses one character, Caliban, to represent the imagery of the unknown and as a savage monster in the viewpoint of exploring Europeans. Using The Tempestand other works such as Cesaire s A Tempest and Achebe s An Image of Africa, I will describe the struggles of Caliban from the story lens and a post colonial lens and to identify how he is being described as monster in Shakespeare s final work. In The Tempest, along with being an enslaved being of the magical Prospero, Caliban is also noticeably the only known native of the island in which Prospero and his daughter have inhabited since their betrayal a decade plus before. According to Caliban himself (and also Prospero and Ariel), he is the offspring of a witch who s name is Sycorax. Yes, Caliban, her son. (338, Act I Scene II) Sycorax, along with Caliban, was one of the few natives of the secluded island and was a very powerful witch. Several interpretations of Sycorax are widespread in historical mythology and cultures, but one of the most noticeable is being a witch who is a native from Africa. Because of fear over her abilities, Sycorax is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Essay about The Whiteness of the Whale The Great White Whale and its Many Meanings Herman Melville, in his epic novel Moby Dick, utilizes the symbolism of the color of the Great White Whale to demonstrate his theme of duality. However, Captain Ahab tragically had a single mind set towards Moby Dick, as he believed that the whale was the symbol of the world s evil and had to be destroyed. On the other hand, Ishmael sees that the color white can mean many various and opposing things. It would be dangerous to settle upon any one single meaning. In the chapter, The Whiteness of the Whale, Melville explains the importance of duality of meaning in the world, as opposed to man s (and Ahab s) desire to see only one meaning in any one thing. Ishmael realized that the color white can represent beauty. Whiteness refiningly enhances beauty, as if imparting some special virtue of its own, as in marbles, japonicas, and pearls. Another characteristic of the color white is strength, such as that of the polar bear or the great white shark. Ishmael also said the white can mean spirited leadership, such as the great white steeds. Contributes to the daily state of kings and queens drawn by milk white steeds; though even in the higher mysteries of the most august religions is has been made the symbol of the divine spotlessness an power. Unlike Ahab, Ishmael saw the duality in white as he also understood that white could also be awesome, even fearsome, as man gazes across the white wastes of the prairies covered with snow and ice, or the white foaming sea hurled upon the rocky coasts by a frightful storm. To view his ship sailing through a midnight sea of milky whiteness as if from encircling headlands shoals of combed white bears. Due to Ishmaels s ability to view the whiteness of Moby Dick through many viewpoints it secured his survival on the inevitably disastrous voyage of the Pequod. Dulce et Decorum est was written by Wilfred Owen and Icarus Allsorts was written by Roger McGough. Dulce was written during WW1. Wilfred Owen wrote this poem while he was in a military hospital. In the poem Owen reveals the chilling truth about what WW1 was really like. Icarus was written in the tension of the Cold War. In the poem Roger McGough turns a very serious (fake) event into a joke. Dulce was written in 1917 and published in 1920. It was written to show that Jessie Pope s poem Who s for the Game was a whole pot of lies. Icarus Allsorts was written in 1964. In all my helpless dreams, before my helpless sight he plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning. In this quotation Owen is referring to a dream he has had. Also he is describing what is happening in the dream a man is drowning from gas. He is also having this dream because the things he has seen in war are things that will stick in his head forever. This is sad and negative. In 2012 we have computers, radios, T.V.s etc. and can find out what the conditions were like in any war but back in 1917 when WW1 was going on the only way for a family member to know what their son/dad/nephew/grandson was seeing was through a poem and reading poems like Dulce would make them feel worried and sad. Another difference is the way both poems are written. Icarus is written like a news report. Using a lack of punctuation does this. This stanza is an example of the lack of punctuation used in the poem. From every corner of the earth bombs began to fly there were even missile jams no traffic lights in the sky in the time it takes to blow your nose the people fell, the mushrooms rose. This lack of use of punctuation makes you read the poem fast this relates to how quick a nuclear bomb can drop and destroy. Also the lack of punctuation communicates the idea that all the events from the poem are occurring simultaneously as the bombs explode. Crystal Violet Formal Lab Essay Determination of Reaction Rate Law from the Reaction of Crystal Violet with Sodium Hydroxide ______________________________________________ Abstract: This experiment helps determine the rate of reaction of crystal violet while it reacts with sodium hydroxide with respect to crystal violet. The amount of sodium hydroxide is varied in this experiment while crystal violet is kept at a constant. The transmittance of crystal violet is observed and recorded using a colorimeter and the data obtained is used to plot graphs which are manipulated using LoggerPro software to produce the desired outcome; rate of reaction of crystal violet. Upon completion of the experiment it was seen that the rate of reaction of crystal violet turned out to be 1 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It must be noted that only the absolute value of the slope matters in this situation. Third order reactions have somewhat a similar story except they require a plot of 1/concentration versus time to determine rate of reaction. When all three graphs are plotted, the graph with the line of best fit, or the one in which all point seem to be on a straight line is the correct one for the reaction. This is easily drawn using the LoggerPro software. When all three graphs are drawn, the graph with the best fit line and lowest root mean square error, or the lowest deviation from the best fit line, is the graph to be used to determine reaction kinematics. This knowledge is acquired from the equations of the integrated rate laws which are explained in the textbook. The solutions are mixed in small amounts in cuvettes and inserted into the colorimeter, which reads the percentage transmittance during the time period. The colorimeter has an enclosed space for the cuvette to be inserted making sure light from other sources does not interfere with the reaction, hence providing accurate results. The rate of the reaction is determined by using the equation: Rate= k [CV+] [OH ], where k is the rate constant for the reaction. Materials: Solutions of crystal violet and sodium hydroxide were available in the laboratory which were previously prepared of concentrations 2.00 E 5 and 2.00 E 2 respectively. • 10. Unit 207 Understand Person Centred Approaches Essays Unit 207 Understand person centred approaches in adult social care settings. Outcome 1 Understand person centred approaches for care and support. 1.1 Define Person centred values. Person centred values means the people whom we support are treated as equals and are involved in all aspects and areas of their care and that they are respected and valued as individuals. This means being involved in their assessments, care delivery and support planning, basically person centred values is making sure all approaches, policies and procedures and care practices put the residents at the centre of the day to day activities. It should also include the residents and their families in the planning and maintaining of this. 1.2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The development of a support plan is the perfect example of how person centred working operates. Instead offering people a choice of what is currently available and finding what best fits their needs, person centred working looks at someone s needs and built the support package around them. One of the important aspects of person centred planning is to look at what people are able to do for themselves and to ensure that services are not taking over aspects of a person s life that they could perfectly well manage without support. Outcome 3 Understand the importance of establishing consent when providing care or support. 3.1 Define the word consent Consent is the informed agreement to an action and/or decision. Permission for something to happen or agreement to do something. 3.2 Explain the importance of gaining consent when providing care or support. When working with an individual it is important to uphold their rights to be fully involved in their own care, whilst adhering to legal requirements. It is also the individuals right to refuse any care, support or treatment they do not want. It is also essential that people not only give you their consent but also that they understand what they are consenting to and the implications of this. Gaining consent protects not just the career but the individual receiving the care and support as well. If no consent is given then you cannot proceed with the care. Facility failed to provide necessary diabetic diet; improper insulin administration, insulin overdose; dehydration and death. Resident left alone in chair in shower room fell, became paralyzed from neck down. Many reports of pinching, rough handling, slapping, yelling, threats (2000). It is believed that abuse is most likely to occur if the caregiver not only finds the work difficult but also (1) works full time, (2) cares for young children, (3) is poor, (4) feels little affection for the older person, (5) finds the elderly person very difficult, and (6) gets no support or help from others (Macionis, 2005). Although there is no excuse for abusing elderly Americans, it is still very prominent in today s society. Diane Sandell explains in Ending Elder Abuse, that her 91 year old mother was beaten by a long term care facility employee in the middle of the night for reasons unknown. • 13. Metal-Only Lewis Pairs with Transition Metal Lewis Basas Metal Only Lewis Pairs with Transition Metal Lewis Basas Introduction: History of Metal Metal Dative Bonding Concept In 1961, Vaska and Diluzio synthesized a lemon yellow compound known as the organometallic complex trans [IrCl(CO)(PPh3)2]. This was achieved by reducing iridium(III) to iridium(I) using just triphenylphosphine and an alcohol. This was significant because they had prepared an iridium carbonyl complex without the use of carbon monoxide. This complex has reversible dioxygen coordination, but more importantly, it is extremely reactive with acids, halides, and dihydrogen yielding stable Ir(III) addition products. The discovery of this Iridium complex meant that laboratories across the globe could now easily create, in one step and several hours, an air stable compound that could undergo oxidative addition reactions. Also, the reaction could be monitored by watching the carbonyl C O stretching band in the IR spectrum and NMR spectroscopy later on. Because Vaska s complex was so stable, its reactivity was limited. The complex serves as an excellent molecular platform for defining how oxidative addition reactions make homo and heterogeneous catalysis a reality. While the term oxidative addition is a staple in inorganic chemistry and catalysis, the step transition metal Lewis basicity is almost never seen. There are numerous methods that a metal can cleave an element element bond, from concerted, side on cleavage to backside attack. Most oxidative addition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Iranian executive branch is composed of a Supreme Leader elected by the Assembly of Experts, a president and vice president, oversight bodies and a cabinet (World Fact Book). The Supreme leader is appointed for life by the Assembly Experts, not through the people. Iran also has a weak, unicameral Islamic legislative branch. It is also important to note that Iran does not put a lot of its attention toward formalized political parties and interest groups. Iran is a mixture of consensual and majoritarian government, but recent events and other governmental acts prove otherwise. While most aspects in its written Constitution label Iran as consensual, the government does not always act that way. With nearly seventy seven million people in the country with ethnic groups including Persian, Azeri, Kurd, Lur, Baloch, Arab, Turkmen and Turkic tribes, and others, Iran should make the educated decision to move towards a more consensual government to better represent their people and include minority representation (Iran). To make this transformation, the Iranian government should make changes dealing with the election system, executivepower sharing, balance of power, political parties and federalism. The Iran election system is composed of a simple majority, where 50 plus one votes is necessary for a candidate to win ( Iran s Electoral System... ). This type of election ... Overall, Connor influenced others in a positive way and can be described as a great positive leader in this book, Unwind. A leader can also influence others in a negative way by using the technique, persuasion. This leader who influenced others in a negative way was Roland. Shusterman gave Roland to have great persuasion; and, Roland persuaded anyone who was in his way to step aside as he persevered to become the biggest and greatest leader of all. The Big Three global credit rating agencies have garnered immense scrutiny and criticism for the role they played in the financial crisis and rightly so they were not only at the epicenter of this colossal debacle but also exacerbated it. There is overwhelming evidence suggesting that the marketing and sale of the MBSs at the core of this crisis would have been virtually impossible without the CRAs signing off. The catastrophically inaccurate ratings they granted to securities they rated helped the markets rally and their eventual massive downgrades left not just the US but also the world economy in utter disarray. In spite of what arguments these agencies come up with to shy away for any responsibility the fact remains that they chose big fees and bigger market shares over integrity in a business that relies on integrity. To understand how the CRAs played a major role in the crisis, we must first understand why they became such a significant influence on investor perception. Investors both individual and institutional look at the CRAs to provide them with risk analysis of a debt security, in form of a credit rating, which is instrumental to these investors decision making process. The risk originates due to two main factors: the ultimate mortgage holders never having met the debtors, and the sheer complexity of these securities that comprise of parts of a plethora of loans. • 31. The Issue Of Euthanasia Living in the twenty first century we have seen many great strides in the advancement of medicine and life sustaining technologies. These advances have resulted in improved life expectancies and quality of life for people around the globe. These medical improvements have raised questions about the appropriateness of life sustaining treatments in the case of people who are terminally ill and experiencing severe pain and suffering. Are we robbing people of a dignified deathby artificially maintaining their bodily systems? Should we really prolong life because we fear death, even though the patients themselves may be ready to die? These questions have received a great deal of attention in recent years, and many people are looking toward euthanasiafor the answer. Euthanasia is the practice of painlessly putting to death people who have incurable, painful, or distressing diseases or handicaps. It comes from the Greek words for good and death, and is commonly called mercy killing. It may occur when incurably ill people ask their physician or a relative or even a friend to put them to death. There are two procedural classifications of euthanasia. Active euthanasia refers to someone taking active steps to give a dying person their final request, a lethal dosage of drugs in order to accelerate death. Former President Clinton was impeached shortly after the statement was released due to Article Two, Section Four, which states, The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors (Mount). The article gives the House of Representatives the power to remove officials, who commit high crimes and misdemeanors like Clinton. ( Article II Section 4. ) Impeachment originated from Great Britain, which granted parliament a way to hold the king s ministers accountable for their public actions, and while the founding fathers were in the process of writing the United States Constitution, the founders valued impeachment, thus adding the article directly into the US Constitution, because they feared that without impeachment the executive power would abuse its resources. ( Impeachment. ) The framers constructed the constitution in such a way that the House of Representatives would vote to impeach the government official, and the official in question would stand trial for the accusation in the Senate. Then, for the accused official to be removed from office, they must be convicted by two thirds of the Senate. (Sunstein, Article II Section 4. ) Article Two, Section Four of the United States Constitution upholds the President and all civil offices of the United States to impeachment if the officials commit high crimes and misdemeanors, bribery, or treason. For the first several decades of the Republic of the United States, the House of Representatives took no interest in impeaching the president, but when the Reconstruction Era rolled around, tension between the House of Represenatives and the president grew to an ultimate high. A network simply just ran on a generic routing protocol. This eventually ran into problems so Routing Information Protocol (RIP) was developed and ran as the single routing protocol for many years [1]. As the internet grew, however, this single routingprotocol could no longer handle all the traffic. Because of this, over time numerous other routing protocols were developed to meet the needs of routing. One of the numerous gateway protocols that were developed was Border Gateway Protocol(BGP), which is classified as an exterior gateway protocol (EGP). BGP was developed in January 1989 at the 12th Internet Engineering Task Force Meeting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is done by rejecting any routing update in which a local AS number is contained [2]. If a local AS was accessed and already contained, it tells BGP that the route has already passed through that AS. Additional routing information is found in below. To complete these tasks successfully, BGP was designed to run over a reliable transport protocol, which is why it uses TCP as it is a connection oriented protocol (specifically port 179) [2]. TCP also allows eliminates the need for BGP to implement explicit update information, retransmissions, acknowledgements, and sequencing [3].The current version that is being used since roughly 1995 is version 4. This version introduced numerous new BGP features and extensions to allow it to forward routing information to the protocol address families IPv4, IPv6, and CLNS [2]. This way the extensions allow all internet protocols to be valid connecting all networks across the world. AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS An autonomous system is a single routing protocol in a collection of networks with the same routing policy [4]. It can also be defined as a network controlled by a single technical administration entity. They are usually under a single ownership and identified by a unique number. In this day and age, there have been times where many teens and young adults have tried to find psychologically where they belong in the world and where they might discover their identity. Standing alone in the middle of the play ground looking for anyone I know or can talk to, my eyes was searching all over the place. A pretty blond girl standing alone was a scene that, for sure, attracted my attention then. The moment my eyes saw her, my mind started thinking of ways to talk to her. After some time wasted thinking, I saw a girl I know approaching the blond. Not willing to waste such opportunity, I marched forward toward them. The suit came after 15 month investigations of several sexual harassments complaints at MMMA. Men vs. Women The idea of different subcultures for males and females, although they live in the same country, taught the same values, and eat the same food, is not new. Although men and women live under the same conditions, they are expected to behave and respond differently. Thus as Maltz puts it: The different social needs of men and women have led them to sexually differentiated communication cultures, with each sex learning a different set of skills for manipulating words (Maltz, p.200). Maltz explains this by saying that each one of us learns his communication culture through the period of, approximately, age 5 to 15, when boys and girls interact socially primarily with members of their own sex . Not only boys and girls learn to respond differently, but they learn, self consciously, to differentiate, with exaggeration, their behavior from the other sex (Maltz, p.203). By society labeling it, it causes others to notice and point out the bad qualities of rap music aside from other types of music. Father Dowling felt more love for them than for any one he had known in his parish, a curious, new love that gave him a strange contentment (18). He feels a new emotion when he meets these two girls and since he feels a strange contentment, he could potentially be feeling a fleshy love, instead of a divine love. He keeps fooling himself into thinking that his love is just divine, but he is hesitating on which type of affection he is giving to the girls. The relationship between a priest and two prostitutes will not be accepted within their society and leads to many negative consequences. In addition, the loss of rationality in decision making is an effect of radical shifts in opinion. Father Dowling convinces himself that the girls need his love the most because no one loves them for who they are. • 42. Effects Of Captive Enrichment On Fish Production Essay Effects of Captive Enrichment on Fish Production: Fathead Minnows (Pimephales promelas) Introduction Environmental enrichment for fish in captive environments has not been studied often, unlike that of mammals. However, in the last decade there have been more attempts to study it. Moreover, structural environmental enrichment is the focal point at this time. Structural environmental enrichment is the addition of a structure (e.g. toys, buoys, artificial vegetation) to the rearing environment (Naslund Johnsson, 2014). Enrichment can affect a variety of aspects of the biology of captive fish, such as, stress, injury, disease susceptibility, aggression, and energy expenditure (Gerber et al., 2015)). A recent study conducted by Naslund and Johnsson (2014), found that environmental enrichment can be divided into groups. These groups include: physical enrichment, sensory enrichment, dietary enrichment, social enrichment, and occupational enrichment. Since, some of those are difficult to test, physical enrichment is what is being studied now. All species of fish are not the same and prefer certain substrates rather than others. Therefore, since the Fathead Minnows that we will be studying and conducting this research on, will depend on what they prefer. The goal of this study is to test whether captive enrichment effects the reproduction success of P. promelas. In this regard, other tools of involvement should be utilized to ensure that there is at least a general acknowledgement of the core of the strategy by those who will be affected. The gap between formulation and implementation is that formulation tends to be done by senior management and that implementation is left to middle management to execute. For the senior management, once strategy is set, interest among (them) fall rapidly away, implementation efforts pull up short, operational behaviours and short term goals take over. The result is suboptimal performance; strategy becomes a bywork for top management away days. First let s talk about, what is physical humor and where does the term slapstick come from. So most people know what slapstick is when it comes to physical humor, but many do not know where the word came from. The word slapstick came from the Italian word batacchio or batacchio. The second was when his mom gave him permission to curse at school but he took it to fare. So as Kevin Hart state I got an ass whooping and my mom beat the shit out of me. Now some people might not find this funny that a mother is beating her child. Although the crowd that night did, this is a well known Kevin Hart piece. To continue physical humor can also be mixed in with irony. Now irony is an event that seems purposely different to what one expects and is often amusing as a result. A normal example of irony would be for instance a dog playing a piano like in the Muppets, or a tow truck towing another tow truck. Relying on technology becomes associated with this utopian society, and certain problems such as laziness can arise because of this. Laziness as a result of dependency on technology proves to be fatal. An example of this would be when one thinks about the Sphinx s riddle. At first, society finds the answer to the riddle through one specific way of thinking and arriving at that answer, but because of technology anything originally learned can then be referenced so that eliminates the need to remember it. Now if someone who comes from a society that is dependent on technology is asked this riddle, he will have no way of answering the question because he would first need to look at technology for the answer. I also look to see if the concept of Fair Trade conforms to the ideology of modernization as some scholars seem to believe. Finally, I look into the application of this theory in the real world, and see if it reaches the potential that many believe it is capable of.
