Argumentative Essay On The Iran Contra Scandal
I think the arms for hostage ordeal in Iran should have led to a further investigation of the truth for the
American people. It is unfortunate that it led to many people being fired in Washington, a typical
response from our government today. I do not believe that Reagan should not have been impeached
but should have been more transparent on the Iran Contra Scandal. This ordeal led to further distrust
in our government and made people question Reagan s authenticity about keeping America safe. The
sex scandal involving president Clinton showed that a president would go to great lengths to cover up
a scandal, even if it meant lying under oath. For a short time period the office of the presidency
became a joke among many Americans, this event

Sectional Tension Dbq
Throughout much of the mid nineteenth century Northern and Southern states remained locked in a
fierce debate over the issues of slavery, state s rights, and taxation. This partitioning between the
North and the South is evident when examining the election of 1860. Abraham Lincoln, a Northerner
and product of the Republican party, faced opposition from Southern Democrats to such a great extent
that he did not even make the ballot in the South. The South was so angry at the prospect of a
Northern Republican becoming president and possibly interfering with their rights that upon Lincoln s
election, they seceded from the Union, leading up to the bloodiest war the United States had ever
taken part in: the Civil War. This lack of conflict resolution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This set of 6 proposed Constitutional amendments was one of the last congressional attempts to
preserve the union without resorting to a full blown war with the South. This proposal was ineffective
because Congress found that the proposed amendments, one of which would have made slave
ownership a Constitutional right in the South, conceded too much to Southern extremists and thus it
was never passed. This compromise also would have extended the slave demarcation line, splitting the
United States in two sections and exacerbating the extent to which their were two divisive political
parties; one for Northern rights and one for Southern rights. By the time the Crittenden Compromise
was proposed slavery was no longer an issue which only pertained to the maintenance of a political
balance of power but it had also become a moral issue. This made Northern voters much less likely to
support a compromise that did not directly place a limit on slavery, much less one that made it a
Constitutional Amendment. With Northern voters beginning to vehemently stand up for their beliefs
against slavery and state authority and Southern voters still refusing to back down from theirs, the
ineffectiveness of past compromises was

The Contrasting Roles of Historians and Scientists Essay
Historians utilize primary sources to reconstruct events that have previously occurred in order to
create a clearer image of the past. In opposition, human scientists investigate varying aspects of
human activity to reveal discoveries that are meant to bring significant changes to the future. This is
presented in the assertion that The historian s task is to understand the past; the human scientist, by
contrast, is looking to change the future. This appears to be false considering that both the historian
and the human scientist require a satisfactory comprehension of past events, as their roles necessitate a
desire to change the future. The respective areas of knowledge of the historian and human scientist
express this through the lens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The false assertion claims that historians solely work to determine an understanding of the past. The
historian s role is defined with a dictation of understanding the past; however their study of the past is
through today s lens. Thus, they are writing in hindsight. A knowledge issue is present with the fallible
eyewitnesses in primary sources which cannot be entirely accepted as the truth due to flexible
interpretations. History, a reconstruction of events, is viewed from a modern standpoint allowing the
historian to produce secondary sources using primary sources as a basis. These sources suggest that
those who control the past also control the future expressing the need for historians to look at evidence
in terms of the future. Furthermore, historical interpretations are inevitably bonded with a sense of
personal value as historians fail to simply regurgitate prior knowledgebut rather use it as a creative
endeavor combining evidence with imagination. This leads to the derivation of a unique conclusion in
retelling events of the past. Although, it can be argued that the historian s purpose is to eliminate
issues such as bias and empathy. However, this proves to be impossible as they inevitably include a
sense of empiricism.
Trends of the past are evident in history. History is not necessarily proven to repeat itself yet a
considerable amount of information suggests this. This information can be analyzed in

Gender Dimension of Brand Personality
BIANCA GROHMANN*
Although masculinity and femininity are personality traits relevant to brands, their measurement and
contribution to branding theory and practice have not been examined. This article describes the
development and validation of a two dimensional scale measuring masculine and feminine brand
personality that is discriminant with regard to existing brand personality dimensions and scales
measuring masculinity and femininity as human personality traits. This scale is applied to show that

JOURNAL OF MARKETING RESEARCH, FEBRUARY 2009 King 1968). At this point, research on
how masculinity and femininity fit with the five factor model supports various relationships between
the Big Five and gender dimensions (Lippa and Connelly 1990; Marusic and Bratko 1998; Ramanaiah

these relationships are still being investigated. In summary, there is a precedence for the investigation
of masculinity and femininity beyond the Big Five. Second, a consideration of gender dimensions of
brand personality arises from consumers need to express themselves along multiple dimensions
(Aaker 1997). The marketing literature suggests that the need to express masculinity and femininity
through brand choice (e.g., Dolich 1969) is based on the notion that gender is part of consumers self
concept (Freimuth and Hornstein 1982). Consumers draw on masculine and feminine personality traits

Host Stereotypes
It is well known that is normal for a host society to create stereotypes in regards to new non native
groups. To be more accurate, stereotypes occur because diverse groups possess their own primary
characteristics that are different from the host group s features. Karel D.Bicha presented two types of
possible stereotypes such as negative and positive. It all depends how the diverse group acts when
introduced to the host society. If diverse group adapts to the mores and ethics of the host society
within fast time, stereotypes wouldn t exist. Respectively, if diverse group starts pushing its own
characteristics without accepting the host s way of doing things, then there might be created a negative
stereotype. From one side stereotypes provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both of these groups held high social statuses. Jews and Italians were both known to contribute to the
introduction of alcohol. Jews used wine for their religious practices; however, Italians used wine for
their culinary processes. Jewish were known to own businesses and play a major role in a commercial
agricultural industry same as Italians. Crime rate indicator is a major factor that shows the difference
in diverse cultural groups. Slavic group was known to have very low criminal rate. Mostly drunk bar
fights and minor theft. Jews were the group with almost no criminal record; thus, if something ever
happened police knew it wasn t anything serious. However, Italians had talent in creating criminals.
They held the highest criminal rate in American society. Boarding was another factor that
distinguished several diverse groups. Slavs were labeled as cheap men (hunky labor); thus, they were
boarding with non family members as well. They were trying to economize. This further showed a
negative result on Slavic groups by lowering the tone of family life. Some Slavic male tenants (except
Czechs) contacted owners to provide them full boarding which included wife of the tenant besides the
house. Jewish and Italians preferred family boarding on their

Siddarth Kumar H Block Mathematics News Article Annual Islamic Symposium on The Arts and
Sciences Inside Dover Sherborn Regional High School In Room 214 the Annual Islamic Symposium
on The Arts and Sciences has just concluded. The symposium was one of the most important events of
our time, where notable scholars and key figures met in the House of Wisdom in order to hold panel
discussions and present displays on the advancements in the fields of Art and Science through the 15th
century. Mathematics took center stage at the symposium with Al Khwarizmi speaking about history
of his field during the Arab empire and discussing major contributors to the field. Arabic Mathematics
derived from the simple system of finger reckoning, using one s fingers in order to do basic forms of
arithmetic. After some time Finger reckoning started to disappear with the introduction of Hindu
arithmetic, the base for the current scheme of numeration and calculation (Esposito 184). Hindu
numerals were used for these basic forms of arithmetic more efficiently than Finger reckoning. This
numeric system was easier for calculations, rather than using Roman numerals, which is why it is
considered a great achievement moved the possibilities of mathematics ahead. It was a base ten
counting system that originated in India and Al Khwarizmi was the first person outside of India to
rework this system, giving us the Arabic numerals, which the numbers we use today are derived from.

Flattened Fauna by Roger M. Knutson
Book Review of Flattened Fauna
Flattened Fauna, the book all about road kill. How could one not be interested in learning more about
the flattened animals that litter our roads? I was certainly intrigued by the idea that the study of these
very dead animals actually exists. This book contains all sorts of information about flattened fauna
such as how to study it, where to study it, why flattened fauna exists, details about the most popular
and or dangerous fauna, and of course why it is studied in the first place. The following paragraphs
will give a summary of the book Flattened Fauna, what to expect of the book, and how the book
relates to furthering ones knowledge of Biology.
The author states that this book is supposed to encourage the appreciation and study of road fauna.
The author even mentions that a trip of one thousand miles presents the opportunity to see, identify,
and possibly enjoy four hundred to four thousand animals. The author encourages the reader to think
of the road as a habitat. Most animal habitats such as forests, lakes, marshes, and such have been apart
of the world for millions of years, and the new roads conveniently run through these habitats. These
new roads and highways are a relatively new part of these animals natural habitat, but the animals still
include these roads as a part of their traditional habitat. Animals have not had a significant amount of
time to adapt to this relatively new habitat. The road fauna is quite new

Did you know that the book in bible reveals the personality of the prophet? It explains to us that we
should carefully read the bible and think about it. I read a book about Hosea but it was from Gomer s
perspective view and it contains a little bit of fiction. After I read the book about Gomer and Hosea, I
started to be interested in Hosea and that s why I chose Hosea over any other prophets. As I write
about Hosea in this essay, I want to know about his relationship with others, God s plan for him, what
he had done during his life time and other things as well. Hosea was the first minor prophet. It does
not mean that he is less important than other major prophets, but because they have shorter books that
s why it calls Minor Prophets. The book of Hosea shows really well about Hosea s true personality so
that we can define him very emotional, responsible to his duty, loyal, and show unconditional love for

greatly important because of course it showed the ratchet part of Hip Hop and the punchline Flocka

this line is greatly appreciated by Caucasian girls around my age. Being an active listener, this song
opened doors for the idea of family within the crowd. We all could relate in some manner within this
song. However, Waka Flocka did perform 6 other songs, but this was the one that exemplified the
most diversity and togetherness. This has been a turn in Hip Hop because not all artist create a sense

American culture because he changed both the American past times of baseball and football, he helps

Unfulfilled Dreams In Harlem By Langston Hughes
Are dreams really dreams if they are never pursued? One may always think that dreams are pursuable
but never considers what happens if dreams are disregarded. We all have hopes and dreams for the
future but imagine not being able to achieve those dreams and become constantly denied from simple
things such as your own rights. Have you ever thought about how postponed dreams can impact your
life? The upsetting question of what happens to a dream deferred? is one taken seriously by Langston
Hughes, an American poet. Since this poem was written in 1951, many African Americans were
limited to achieve the American Dream. Striving for equality and freedom was still in action for
African Americans; their hopes and dreams were constantly denied, seeming unattainable. In Harlem
(A Dream Deferred), Hughes explores the possible consequences of unfulfilled dreams to demonstrate
what might happen if dreams are ignored and kept from society. I will prove this potential destructive
effect of unattainable dreams ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the use of similes, alliteration, and ending with a metaphor, the reader is now aware of the
potential destructive effects of deferred dreams. In a way, it tells the reader that dreams should not be
ignored due to their importance in people s lives. Dreams should not be put aside and should be a goal
that is set in our lives. Sometimes people tend to postpone their dreams because of certain
circumstances they face in life. However, when these circumstances are gone, one should go back and
fulfill their dreams. The potential effects that were portrayed in his poem emphasize that the longer
you delay your dream, the more the dream will less likely become true or fulfilled. Thus, Hughes
poem suggests that people should go after their dreams and never delay them. After all, Harlem (A
Dream Deferred) reminds us that our dreams are

These claims on banks can act as money because they are negotiable or repayable on demand, and
hence valued at par. They are effectively transferable by mere delivery, in the case of banknotes, or by
drawing a cheque that the payee may bank or cash. 2. Netting and settlement of payments banks act as
both collection and paying agents for customers, participating in interbank clearing and settlement
systems to collect, present, be presented with, and pay payment instruments. This enables banks to
economies on reserves held for settlement of payments, since inward and outward payments offset
each other. It also enables the offsetting of payment flows between geographical areas, reducing the
cost of settlement between them. 3. Credit intermediation banks borrow and lend back to back on their
own account as middle men. 4. Credit quality improvement banks lend money to ordinary commercial
and personal borrowers (ordinary credit quality), but are high quality borrowers. The improvement
comes from diversification of the bank s assets and capital which provides a buffer to absorb losses
without defaulting on its obligations. However, banknotes and deposits are generally unsecured; if the
bank gets into difficulty and pledges assets as security, to raise the funding it needs to continue to
operate, this puts the note holders and depositors in an economically subordinated position.

Comparing Prometheus And Atlas
Many a few have heard of Atlas, the almighty titan. After the gods of olympus, led by Zeus defeated
the titans, Atlas was charged to eternally bear the weight of the world on his shoulders. To be a bit
more specific, Atlas was mandated to keep apart the heavens and the Earth. This was the predicament
of a number of titans at the hands of Zeus and the other Gods. For example, Prometheus, creator of the
Earth is tortured eternally. Every Day, a murderous phoenix attacks him and steals his liver, and
everyday, his liver grows back so that he suffers the pain each and every day. Well, both Prometheus
and Atlas helped our beloved hero Hercules with his 12 labors. His eleventh labor was to retrieve
some golden apples from the Garden of Hesperides. However, this garden was protected by a

Prometheus. After slaying the murderous bird, Hercules was informed that Atlas was his best chance
at procuring some golden apples. So Hercules again set off in search of Atlas. Hercules struck a deal
with Atlas. It basically said that Hercules would bear the burden of Atlas for a short while, meanwhile
Atlas would enter the garden and get the apples for Hercules. After Atlas had successfully made it
back with the apples, he told Hercules that he would just take them to Eurystheus himself. Hercules
slyly agreed, but asked if Atlas could hold it long enough for Hercules to place some padding on his
shoulders to help with the load. But Hercules took the apples and ran without looking back and
returned to Eurystheus with the apples prepared to tackle his final labor before he was accepted into
Olympus as a God. And Atlas was left to bear the weight of the heavens forever in

Introduction Aerosols are one of the key factors responsible for the climate change and influencing the
radiation budget of the earth. Columnar Aerosol loading (amount in the atmosphere) is usually
quantified by mass concentration (PM Particulate Matter) or by an optical measure (AOD Aerosol
Optical Depth). The effects of aerosols on atmosphere are mainly categorized into four types (Lau et
al., 2008). They are 1) aerosol direct effects, 2) aerosol Semi direct effects, 3) first Indirect effects and
4) the second Indirect effects. Direct effect of aerosols is the manifestation of dimming of solar
radiation by aerosols due to scattering and absorption. Due to blockage of incoming radiations, the
temperature in the lower levels of the atmosphere decreases and therefore, the convection process is
weakened which results in a thermodynamically stabilized atmosphere layer. This in turn, reduces the
humidity in the lower layers delaying the cloud formation (semi direct effect). The first indirect effect,
which is also called Twomey Effect, explains the aerosol and cloud interactions at microphysical scale
(Twomey, 1977). The changes in aerosol concentrations (aerosols act as cloud condensation nuclei
(CCN)) can also alter the cloud albedo and reflectivity. The second indirect effect deals with the

When away from my work at Gwangyang High School, I have filled my time with activities that have

David Hume s Argument Against Belief in the Existence of...
David Hume was a British empiricist, meaning he believed all knowledge comes through the senses.
He argued against the existence of innate ideas, stating that humans have knowledge only of things
which they directly experience. These claims have a major impact on his argument against the
existence of miracles, and in this essay I will explain and critically evaluate this argument.
In his discussion Of Miracles in Section X of An Enquiry concerning Human Understanding, Hume
defines a miracle as a violation of the laws of nature and as a firm and unalterable experience has
established these laws 1. Basically a miracle is something that happens which is contrary to what
would happen given the structure of the universe. He also states ... Show more content on

In other words he is saying that no matter how good or reliable a testimony may be, it can never as it
were on the basis of experience be justified to accept that testimony over and against what stands as
testimony against the miracle happening. The testimony happens to be the laws of nature themselves.
In this sense it is clear that Hume is giving us a priori argument in Part 1 in that he is saying that
miracles are contrary to reason. However I think it would be easier to accept this view if Hume had
not previously discussed his Induction theory. In regard that he thought that for example that just
because the sun has risen every day so far, it does not necessarily follow that the sun will rise
tomorrow, we have no rational basis in believing it will. However in regard to miracles he tells us to
base our decisions on past experiences, if it is unlikely it is less likely to be true. So in that sense we
should also be able to say that based on our past experiences the sun will definitely rise tomorrow?
Also if the sun was not to rise, surely that would be a miracle in the sense that it would be a violation
of the laws of nature? And what is exactly a violation of natural laws? Dorothy Coleman points out
past experience shows that what are at one time considered violations of natural laws are frequently

Basis Of International Trade Essay
International trade is historically the oldest and most widespread form of external economic relations.
It is a movement of goods that represents a foreign exchange, that is, goods cross the boundaries of the
individual countries or economic unit. Foreign trade links the country s internal economy with the
world economy and fulfills important functions in the process of developing the productive forces and
international division of labor. (Markusen, 1995)
The basis of foreign trade is the realization of imports and exports of goods and services between the
domestic economy and other countries. The theoretical basis of foreign trade policy consists of
individual theories of foreign trade, which have been formed since the 18th century. These theories
were protectionist or liberal, depending on the objectives and the tools used. Each state has its own
foreign trade policy. Foreign trade policy to be defined as a set of principles and measures undertaken
by the state in the field of foreign trade using trade policy instruments. (Markusen, 1995)
The history of foreign trade relations in the world economy is linked to a dispute between the two
basic ties of trade policy. The first type is protectionism, whose supporters maintain a protectionist
approach and try to enforce trade barriers to foreign competition. The second type is liberalism, whose
supporters advocate free trade. (Reuvid Sherlock, 2004)
Free trade is defined as a system, where goods or services flows across the

NFPA Standards
The National Fire protection agency or NFPA has a list of standards that it creates to help the fire
service. One of these standards is standard 1915, which is for establishing a fire apparatus preventive
maintenance program. The standard can be defined as the implementation of minimum requirements
for preventive maintenance program for fire apparatus. The term fire apparatus can be used to any
kind of emergency vehicle that would respond to an emergency scene, as well as any support vehicles.
This applies to both public and private organizations that utilize fire apparatus s. The standard outlines
frequency in which an apparatus will be serviced and maintained. As well as the testing or all of the

Some examples for a fire engine would be the testing of the pump, hose, and water tank. While testing
for a fire truck would include testing of ground and Ariel ladders, tools, and generators. Having the
proper preventative maintenance and testing of an apparatus is important, and having all the
maintenance documented is important because it makes sure there is accountability. Documentation of
efforts allows a comprehensive list of all maintenance done to an apparatus. If actions done to an
apparatus are well documented it allows for work to flow smoothly and cuts down on the possibility of
duplication of work. Once all work is done and documented the work is done and the apparatus can be
put into service until the next time it has to be inspected and tested. All in all NFPA 1915 important
because it reduces failure rated due to preventative maintenance. Maintenance is a crucial part of any
apparatus s ability to operate, which is why NFPA 1915 s fire apparatus preventive maintenance
program is so important. NFPA 1915 allows for proper care of fire apparatus s as to help the apparatus
s last longer in service. As stated earlier a fire apparatus is any kind of vehicle that would respond to

Confucianism And The Conflicts Of The Han Dynasty Of...
The Han Dynasty of Ancient China was one of the most prominent and long lasting societies of the
time. However, they were not untouched by the ravages of the world, and despite their Confucius
roots, there was a war to be fought. The Salt and Iron debate is an example of how the Confucianism
of the time affected the strategy of the war. Should the government stick to their principles, or protect
their empire? When is the time to say enough is enough ?
In order to understand the debate, we must understand those who are arguing. The Scholars spent
years studying the word and policy of Confucius, then toured China spreading his ideas to every
household. The Confucius Scholars opposed the Salt and Iron policies of the Chinese government. ...

They asked why their people should have to suffer if it wasn t necessary. The bureaucrats were also
beginning to consider the possibility of fighting back, and to do so they would need soldier and costly
weaponry. Fighting back was becoming more attractive because of the severe cost of bribing the
Xiongnu, who were taking goods like gold, silk, and Princesses. There was a major loss happening,
and the only way to keep the country floating was through the monopolies. The bureaucrats try
explaining this to the Scholars, but are vehemently argued against because the trade is steeped in
greed.
In my opinion, the bureaucrats make a stronger case for the continuation of the Salt and Iron
monopolies. There must be an army, and walls to protect the country. If they aren t going to fight, like
the Scholars want, then there also needs to be money for bribes. If there is no money, there is no way
to protect the people of China. It is a situation where you have decided if your morals come before the
safety of those you care about. How far are you willing to go to protect your people? The Scholars
aren t willing to go all the way, and people will die because of it. Not everyone has the same beliefs,
so displaying them will not save you. The Scholars did not consider the real harm that comes to the
citizens when they cannot express themselves fully, not to mention the harm

the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. It tries to erase the reality of a social geographical order that defies

Mexico boundary are to be found in the imperial competition between Spain, France, and Britain for
possessions in North America. Lack of agreement between the three imperial powers over the location
of the boundaries separating their territories in North America led to disagreement between Mexico
and an expansionist U.S. After Mexico gained its independence in 1821, many U.S. leaders argued for
taking part or all of Mexico s territory. Numerous prominent U.S. politicians, driven by the ideology
of Manifest Destiny, considered taking Mexico a divine right. (Acuna, 1988) As tensions mounted
between the U.S. and Mexico over Texas, the U.S. deliberately provoked Mexico by sending troops
into territory claimed by Mexico in early 1846. Battles between U.S. and Mexican troops ensued,
quickly resulting in full scale war. The war raged on for two years, largely in favor of the U.S., and
ended with the U.S. taking over Mexico City. On February 2, 1848, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
was signed, and Mexico was forced to cede half of its territory to the U.S. Under the treaty s terms, the
U.S. annexed a territory equivalent in size to that of Western Europe, and absorbed 100,000 Mexican
citizens and 200,000 Native Americans living in the territory. (Herzog, 1990) The decades following
the imposition of the new U.S. Mexico boundary saw widespread violence as U.S. authorities and non

The Expansion Of A Nation State Beyond The World
As Europe climbs into a semi peaceful time, many powers look for a way to expand their names
beyond their claimed territories. Splicing through the 1850 s and beyond European powers spread
through Africa, Australia, China, America, Japan and anywhere they could find a resource to be
exploited. Many great discoveries and advances appeared due to these colonization s and expeditions,
scientifically and historically. Imperialism is the expansion of a nation state beyond their position,
whether it be through military, political or economic powers. This idea spread throughout Europe and
sparked the expansion into many countries that neither were expecting it or even welcomed it. The

As countries settled in unknown places, learning about the plants, wildlife, and lands made them more
powerful than the countries who did not settle there. They were able to hold that information over their
enemies. Notably, the French are known for their geographical influences in their colonies and
explorations. The French colonization in Mexico is a major area they gained power. The many
explorations and documentation the French scientists massed are invaluable knowledge then and now.
Scientists such as Alexander von Humboldt and Henri de Saussure paved the way for many more to
document the lavish lands of Mexico. However, their work was deterred by off limit areas and
questions of legitimacy in their findings. These geographical advances made it possible for the French
to publish volumes of scholar level information. This, for any country, is an area that can hold much
power. Geographical influences prevailed throughout Africa with many different European powers
claiming her. In the early days of European colonization Africa was seen as a purely territorial and
prestigious land to settle. The idea was to take her before anyone else did. This gave way to much
geographical reasoning for colonization. In the words of historian George N. Sanderson, Until the
1870 s, Africa as a whole had been a purely geographical concept, of no practical relevance to the
European politicians and merchants concerned with the continent. (2008,

father and myself for the dream I always had could help me pay for college. Presenting my father with
a plan was the goal in accomplishing my dream and I knew he did not want his son to be in debt with
student loans. Gathering the information was the start so I contacted an army recruiter to see how I
was going to pay for college. He presented me with a student loan repayment program and also an
incentive how I could pay for my bachelors and possibly masters. After he gave me the plan I
presented it to my father. Again he was not for it. He told me he could let his son be buried in a pine
box for trying to defend this nation. My father was adamant but what was the deciding factor was me
letting him know I couldn t continue my education and I was going to be in debt. He then realized and
told me, son you are a man for putting your body on the line to provide for yourself and get an
education. I knew I had a winner then. Even though I did not need his permission I wanted his
condolences. I then enlisted in the United States Army as a young man at the age of 20 with a plan for

Thorns Starfish Problem
The terrestrial runoff spawned at around the time of major storms that wash large amounts of nutrients
promotes plankton to blooms, which increase the food for many animals including Crown of Thorns
Starfish larvae. The Great Barrier Reef receives runoff from 35 major catchments, which drain
424,000 square kilometres of coastal Queensland (Reefplan.qld.gov.au, 2012). Attacking the Crown of

improving water quality as the long term benefits to the health of the Great Barrier Reef. The removal
of predators such as excessive fishing and shell collecting, allowing populations of the Crown of

Figurative Language And Metaphors
We were all taught about similes and metaphors at school: figurative language that allows us to not
only read about something, but to help create a picture in our head. For example, the phrase her eyes
were blue is very plain and to the point. Her eyes were as bright as stars makes them seem bright,
welcoming, sparkling. She had stars for eyes is much more vivid, even though technically it says the
same thing. Metaphors offer much more vivid imagery because they say something is something else.
When you declare that something is something else, not just like it, it shows a strength in your
conviction and a confidence in what you re saying. That being said, metaphors are much more difficult
(in my opinion) to come up with. All things

Two Brands of Nihilism
As philosopher and poet Nietzsche s work is not easily conformable to the traditional schools of
thought within philosophy. However, an unmistakable concern with the role of religion and values
penetrates much of his work.
Contrary to the tradition before him, Nietzsche launches vicious diatribes against Christianity and the
dualistic philosophies he finds essentially life denying. Despite his early tutelage under the influence
of Schopenhauer s philosophy, Nietzsche later philosophy indicates a refusal to cast existence as
embroiled in pessimism but, instead, as that which should be affirmed, even in the face of bad fortune.

Good and evil are not the approbation or prohibition against certain actions, rather, such doctrine
codifies self hatred and begs the rejection of human nature . Christianity goes beyond a denial of just
the flesh and blood of the body to do away with the whole of the world. In
Twilight of the Idols, Nietzsche suggests in several places, that the world is falsified when dictated by
the tenets of dualistic philosophies, with emphasis on Christianity.
How the True World Finally Became Fable, a section in Twilight of the Idols, is subtitled The History
of an Error , for it supposes to give a short rendering of how the true world is lost in the histories of
disfiguring philosophies that posit otherworldly dualistic metaphysics. First, Plato s vision of the
realm of forms. The true world attainable for the sage, the pious, the virtuous man... , a feasible world,
achievable through piety and wisdom.
A world a man may come to know, at least possible for the contemplative and diligent student. In this
early imagining the world is not entirely lost yet, it is however, removed from the concrete world. A
world hardly accessible but by the few who might escape the cave.
The first realization of nihilism is the denial of the sensuous world for the really real. The idea of the
true world removed is then characterized as the

There was a boy born in the dust and silence of the country side, in a little log cabin, to a modest
family of uneducated hard working laborers. Life was hard, yet simple. Days were filled with hard
work and a yearning to survive. The absence of ambition and education within the community ran as
ramped as the hills and forests that surrounded the community where the boy grew. Yet that boy rose
up out of the dust and the trees in search for something more. That boy grew up, and took America by

Lincoln eventually won and on May 18, 1860, Lincoln was nominated and started a run for
Presidency. With a total of four candidates running for office Lincoln won the election on November
6. He received no votes from the south, but the popular votes were so widely distributed, that Lincoln
won the majority of votes in the Electoral College, which won him the Presidency. Lincoln felt
passionate about his country, the view on where his country was headed and used his political skills to
spread his message, ultimately becoming president. (Abraham Lincoln biography) (Britannica)
Perhaps Lincoln s greatest achievement as a leader was preserving the union. It was his belief in a
house divided cannot stand that led him towards presidency and preserved the United States of
America. Before Lincoln became President, the country was in turmoil as to keep slavery or abolish it.
It was an issue that was literally ripping this nation apart. Even before Lincoln took office, South
Carolina had seceded from the union. The Southern states tried to put forth constitutional amendments
that would guarantee slavery forever. Lincoln did not like what the southern states wanted to do, so he
convinced all Republicans to vote against the measure which resulted in six more states leaving the
union. The called themselves the Confederate States of America. Although Lincoln respected them for

Evaluating Restaurants
(1) Discussion Question 2 1
What types of performance measurements might be used to evaluate a restaurant?
I believe that types of performance measurements are used to evaluate a restaurant are quality of
customer service, financial performance, price of meals, quality of food, customer satisfaction, and
operation management. Many people use Yelp to find a restaurant when we want to try a new
restaurant. Yelp has pictures and comments by customers. Most of time customers talk about food and
quality of service. I think that customer satisfaction is the most important to evaluate a restaurant
because it is directly related to their profit. Even though they have great food and cost, there are no
repeating customers with poor performing waitresses/waiters.

The Drum Women At Valley Forge
The book Following the Drum Women at the Valley Forge Encampment gave a very good incite to not
just what it was like for the men at Valley Forge, but what it was like for the women who were there.
In the winter of 1777 8 at Valley Forge there were about one woman of every forty four men (Loane
133). I think book stressed that these women were incredibly helpful in the effort to rebuild this army
through the rough winter, no matter what their job were. Although Washington did not think much of
the women with the army; he once commanded every woman to leave camp, no matter what her
contribution or marital state. The General s unfavorable attitude toward the common camp women did
not extend to all women Valley Forge (4). To me it s interesting that General Washington said this
about the women there, because throughout the book I felt Washington enjoyed the presence of his
wife and the other troop s wives at the encampment. I feel like Americans typically perceive the story
of Valley Forge as a battle. Attacks never came from the British during the time the Continental Army
was at the encampment. They believe that tons of lives were lost there, when in reality, it was just a
place for them to make it through the winter. I think the book reinforces the perceptions of what
happened there since, There was between fifteen hundred and three thousand men that died at Valley
Forge, not from their wounds, but from disease (119). This statement reinforces the fact that no

Paleolithic And Neolithic Revolution
The transition from the Paleolithic period to the Neolithic period marked a major revolution in the
ways that humans lived and the methods that they used their resources. The Paleolithic period, which
lasted from around 40,000 to 8,000 B.C.E, was characterized by hunter gatherers and a nomadic way
of life. These ancient people lived a simplistic life and traveled around, not creating any permanent
settlements because they did not have a deep understanding of how to use their resources. This all
changed when the Neolithic Revolution occurred around the year 8,000 B.C.E, human behavior and
the style of living started to become more complex than ever before. We can see, through the evidence
of ancient artwork created near Mesopotamia, that the transition from the Paleolithic period to the
Neolithic period involved various advances in cultural ideas, the way of living and use of resources.
During the Neolithic Revolution people started to create more permanent settlements. These
settlements popped up in places such as the Fertile Crescent, and in places like these humans let go of
there hunter gather past and leapt into a new life of farming. They set up communities and divided up
labor among residents. Crops were farmed near the villages, and animals were domesticated. Since it
was much easier for people to get their daily needs without moving from place to place, people had a
lot of time on their hands to develop other things such as art and religion. After this advancement

  • 2. Argumentative Essay On The Iran Contra Scandal I think the arms for hostage ordeal in Iran should have led to a further investigation of the truth for the American people. It is unfortunate that it led to many people being fired in Washington, a typical response from our government today. I do not believe that Reagan should not have been impeached but should have been more transparent on the Iran Contra Scandal. This ordeal led to further distrust in our government and made people question Reagan s authenticity about keeping America safe. The sex scandal involving president Clinton showed that a president would go to great lengths to cover up a scandal, even if it meant lying under oath. For a short time period the office of the presidency became a joke among many Americans, this event ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Sectional Tension Dbq Throughout much of the mid nineteenth century Northern and Southern states remained locked in a fierce debate over the issues of slavery, state s rights, and taxation. This partitioning between the North and the South is evident when examining the election of 1860. Abraham Lincoln, a Northerner and product of the Republican party, faced opposition from Southern Democrats to such a great extent that he did not even make the ballot in the South. The South was so angry at the prospect of a Northern Republican becoming president and possibly interfering with their rights that upon Lincoln s election, they seceded from the Union, leading up to the bloodiest war the United States had ever taken part in: the Civil War. This lack of conflict resolution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This set of 6 proposed Constitutional amendments was one of the last congressional attempts to preserve the union without resorting to a full blown war with the South. This proposal was ineffective because Congress found that the proposed amendments, one of which would have made slave ownership a Constitutional right in the South, conceded too much to Southern extremists and thus it was never passed. This compromise also would have extended the slave demarcation line, splitting the United States in two sections and exacerbating the extent to which their were two divisive political parties; one for Northern rights and one for Southern rights. By the time the Crittenden Compromise was proposed slavery was no longer an issue which only pertained to the maintenance of a political balance of power but it had also become a moral issue. This made Northern voters much less likely to support a compromise that did not directly place a limit on slavery, much less one that made it a Constitutional Amendment. With Northern voters beginning to vehemently stand up for their beliefs against slavery and state authority and Southern voters still refusing to back down from theirs, the ineffectiveness of past compromises was ... • 5. The Contrasting Roles of Historians and Scientists Essay Historians utilize primary sources to reconstruct events that have previously occurred in order to create a clearer image of the past. In opposition, human scientists investigate varying aspects of human activity to reveal discoveries that are meant to bring significant changes to the future. This is presented in the assertion that The historian s task is to understand the past; the human scientist, by contrast, is looking to change the future. This appears to be false considering that both the historian and the human scientist require a satisfactory comprehension of past events, as their roles necessitate a desire to change the future. The respective areas of knowledge of the historian and human scientist express this through the lens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The false assertion claims that historians solely work to determine an understanding of the past. The historian s role is defined with a dictation of understanding the past; however their study of the past is through today s lens. Thus, they are writing in hindsight. A knowledge issue is present with the fallible eyewitnesses in primary sources which cannot be entirely accepted as the truth due to flexible interpretations. History, a reconstruction of events, is viewed from a modern standpoint allowing the historian to produce secondary sources using primary sources as a basis. These sources suggest that those who control the past also control the future expressing the need for historians to look at evidence in terms of the future. Furthermore, historical interpretations are inevitably bonded with a sense of personal value as historians fail to simply regurgitate prior knowledgebut rather use it as a creative endeavor combining evidence with imagination. This leads to the derivation of a unique conclusion in retelling events of the past. Although, it can be argued that the historian s purpose is to eliminate issues such as bias and empathy. However, this proves to be impossible as they inevitably include a sense of empiricism. Trends of the past are evident in history. History is not necessarily proven to repeat itself yet a considerable amount of information suggests this. This information can be analyzed in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Gender Dimension of Brand Personality BIANCA GROHMANN* Although masculinity and femininity are personality traits relevant to brands, their measurement and contribution to branding theory and practice have not been examined. This article describes the development and validation of a two dimensional scale measuring masculine and feminine brand personality that is discriminant with regard to existing brand personality dimensions and scales measuring masculinity and femininity as human personality traits. At this point, research on how masculinity and femininity fit with the five factor model supports various relationships between the Big Five and gender dimensions (Lippa and Connelly 1990; Marusic and Bratko 1998; Ramanaiah and Detwiler 1992; Whitley and Gridley 1993), but because of their complex nature (Digman 1990), these relationships are still being investigated. In summary, there is a precedence for the investigation of masculinity and femininity beyond the Big Five. Second, a consideration of gender dimensions of brand personality arises from consumers need to express themselves along multiple dimensions (Aaker 1997). The marketing literature suggests that the need to express masculinity and femininity through brand choice (e.g., Dolich 1969) is based on the notion that gender is part of consumers self concept (Freimuth and Hornstein 1982). • 7. Host Stereotypes It is well known that is normal for a host society to create stereotypes in regards to new non native groups. To be more accurate, stereotypes occur because diverse groups possess their own primary characteristics that are different from the host group s features. Karel D.Bicha presented two types of possible stereotypes such as negative and positive. It all depends how the diverse group acts when introduced to the host society. If diverse group adapts to the mores and ethics of the host society within fast time, stereotypes wouldn t exist. Respectively, if diverse group starts pushing its own characteristics without accepting the host s way of doing things, then there might be created a negative stereotype. Crime rate indicator is a major factor that shows the difference in diverse cultural groups. Slavic group was known to have very low criminal rate. Mostly drunk bar fights and minor theft. Jews were the group with almost no criminal record; thus, if something ever happened police knew it wasn t anything serious. However, Italians had talent in creating criminals. Annual Islamic Symposium On The Arts And Sciences Siddarth Kumar H Block Mathematics News Article Annual Islamic Symposium on The Arts and Sciences Inside Dover Sherborn Regional High School In Room 214 the Annual Islamic Symposium on The Arts and Sciences has just concluded. The symposium was one of the most important events of our time, where notable scholars and key figures met in the House of Wisdom in order to hold panel discussions and present displays on the advancements in the fields of Art and Science through the 15th century. Mathematics took center stage at the symposium with Al Khwarizmi speaking about history of his field during the Arab empire and discussing major contributors to the field. Arabic Mathematics derived from the simple system of finger reckoning, using one s fingers in order to do basic forms of arithmetic. After some time Finger reckoning started to disappear with the introduction of Hindu arithmetic, the base for the current scheme of numeration and calculation (Esposito 184). Hindu numerals were used for these basic forms of arithmetic more efficiently than Finger reckoning. This numeric system was easier for calculations, rather than using Roman numerals, which is why it is considered a great achievement moved the possibilities of mathematics ahead. How could one not be interested in learning more about the flattened animals that litter our roads? I was certainly intrigued by the idea that the study of these very dead animals actually exists. This book contains all sorts of information about flattened fauna such as how to study it, where to study it, why flattened fauna exists, details about the most popular and or dangerous fauna, and of course why it is studied in the first place. The following paragraphs will give a summary of the book Flattened Fauna, what to expect of the book, and how the book relates to furthering ones knowledge of Biology. The author states that this book is supposed to encourage the appreciation and study of road fauna. The author even mentions that a trip of one thousand miles presents the opportunity to see, identify, and possibly enjoy four hundred to four thousand animals. The author encourages the reader to think of the road as a habitat. Most animal habitats such as forests, lakes, marshes, and such have been apart of the world for millions of years, and the new roads conveniently run through these habitats. These new roads and highways are a relatively new part of these animals natural habitat, but the animals still include these roads as a part of their traditional habitat. I read a book about Hosea but it was from Gomer s perspective view and it contains a little bit of fiction. After I read the book about Gomer and Hosea, I started to be interested in Hosea and that s why I chose Hosea over any other prophets. As I write about Hosea in this essay, I want to know about his relationship with others, God s plan for him, what he had done during his life time and other things as well. Hosea was the first minor prophet. It does not mean that he is less important than other major prophets, but because they have shorter books that s why it calls Minor Prophets. One may always think that dreams are pursuable but never considers what happens if dreams are disregarded. We all have hopes and dreams for the future but imagine not being able to achieve those dreams and become constantly denied from simple things such as your own rights. Have you ever thought about how postponed dreams can impact your life? The upsetting question of what happens to a dream deferred? is one taken seriously by Langston Hughes, an American poet. Since this poem was written in 1951, many African Americans were limited to achieve the American Dream. Striving for equality and freedom was still in action for African Americans; their hopes and dreams were constantly denied, seeming unattainable. Sometimes people tend to postpone their dreams because of certain circumstances they face in life. However, when these circumstances are gone, one should go back and fulfill their dreams. The potential effects that were portrayed in his poem emphasize that the longer you delay your dream, the more the dream will less likely become true or fulfilled. They are effectively transferable by mere delivery, in the case of banknotes, or by drawing a cheque that the payee may bank or cash. 2. Netting and settlement of payments banks act as both collection and paying agents for customers, participating in interbank clearing and settlement systems to collect, present, be presented with, and pay payment instruments. This enables banks to economies on reserves held for settlement of payments, since inward and outward payments offset each other. It also enables the offsetting of payment flows between geographical areas, reducing the cost of settlement between them. 3. Credit intermediation banks borrow and lend back to back on their own account as middle men. 4. Credit quality improvement banks lend money to ordinary commercial and personal borrowers (ordinary credit quality), but are high quality borrowers. The improvement comes from diversification of the bank s assets and capital which provides a buffer to absorb losses without defaulting on its obligations. However, banknotes and deposits are generally unsecured; if the bank gets into difficulty and pledges assets as security, to raise the funding it needs to continue to operate, this puts the note holders and depositors in an economically subordinated position. • 16. Comparing Prometheus And Atlas Many a few have heard of Atlas, the almighty titan. After the gods of olympus, led by Zeus defeated the titans, Atlas was charged to eternally bear the weight of the world on his shoulders. To be a bit more specific, Atlas was mandated to keep apart the heavens and the Earth. This was the predicament of a number of titans at the hands of Zeus and the other Gods. For example, Prometheus, creator of the Earth is tortured eternally. Every Day, a murderous phoenix attacks him and steals his liver, and everyday, his liver grows back so that he suffers the pain each and every day. Well, both Prometheus and Atlas helped our beloved hero Hercules with his 12 labors. His eleventh labor was to retrieve some golden apples from the Garden of Hesperides. However, this garden was protected by a powerful fire breathing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hercules was well aware of this and tried to find help. After slaying the murderous bird, Hercules was informed that Atlas was his best chance at procuring some golden apples. So Hercules again set off in search of Atlas. Hercules struck a deal with Atlas. It basically said that Hercules would bear the burden of Atlas for a short while, meanwhile Atlas would enter the garden and get the apples for Hercules. After Atlas had successfully made it back with the apples, he told Hercules that he would just take them to Eurystheus himself. Hercules slyly agreed, but asked if Atlas could hold it long enough for Hercules to place some padding on his shoulders to help with the load. But Hercules took the apples and ran without looking back and returned to Eurystheus with the apples prepared to tackle his final labor before he was accepted into Olympus as a God. Aerosols Of Rain Case Study Nature of Aerosols Effect on Cloud Cover and Precipitation over Central Gangetic Plain during 2012 2015 Indian Summer Monsoon Rainfall: A Case Study by using Satellite observations Abstract: The effect of aerosol on cloud cover and precipitation is one of the hot topics in the current environmental scenario, especially during the drought conditions. The study presents the qualitative assessment of microphysical and radiative effects of aerosols on cloud cover during the Indian summer monsoon rainfall (ISMR) months of 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 over the highly polluted central gangetic plain by using the Absorption Fraction Feedback (the AFF) model. The results from the ancillary data analysis were also in agreement with results of the AFF model. Introduction Aerosols are one of the key factors responsible for the climate change and influencing the radiation budget of the earth. Columnar Aerosol loading (amount in the atmosphere) is usually quantified by mass concentration (PM Particulate Matter) or by an optical measure (AOD Aerosol Optical Depth). The effects of aerosols on atmosphere are mainly categorized into four types (Lau et al., 2008). They are 1) aerosol direct effects, 2) aerosol Semi direct effects, 3) first Indirect effects and 4) the second Indirect effects. Direct effect of aerosols is the manifestation of dimming of solar radiation by aerosols due to scattering and absorption. Due to blockage of incoming radiations, the temperature in the lower levels of the atmosphere decreases and therefore, the convection process is weakened which results in a thermodynamically stabilized atmosphere layer. This in turn, reduces the humidity in the lower layers delaying the cloud formation (semi direct effect). The first indirect effect, which is also called Twomey Effect, explains the aerosol and cloud interactions at microphysical scale (Twomey, 1977). The changes in aerosol concentrations (aerosols act as cloud condensation nuclei (CCN)) can also alter the cloud albedo and reflectivity. The second indirect effect deals with the ... • 21. David Hume s Argument Against Belief in the Existence of... David Hume was a British empiricist, meaning he believed all knowledge comes through the senses. He argued against the existence of innate ideas, stating that humans have knowledge only of things which they directly experience. These claims have a major impact on his argument against the existence of miracles, and in this essay I will explain and critically evaluate this argument. In his discussion Of Miracles in Section X of An Enquiry concerning Human Understanding, Hume defines a miracle as a violation of the laws of nature and as a firm and unalterable experience has established these laws 1. Basically a miracle is something that happens which is contrary to what would happen given the structure of the universe. He also states ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words he is saying that no matter how good or reliable a testimony may be, it can never as it were on the basis of experience be justified to accept that testimony over and against what stands as testimony against the miracle happening. The testimony happens to be the laws of nature themselves. In this sense it is clear that Hume is giving us a priori argument in Part 1 in that he is saying that miracles are contrary to reason. However I think it would be easier to accept this view if Hume had not previously discussed his Induction theory. In regard that he thought that for example that just because the sun has risen every day so far, it does not necessarily follow that the sun will rise tomorrow, we have no rational basis in believing it will. However in regard to miracles he tells us to base our decisions on past experiences, if it is unlikely it is less likely to be true. So in that sense we should also be able to say that based on our past experiences the sun will definitely rise tomorrow? Also if the sun was not to rise, surely that would be a miracle in the sense that it would be a violation of the laws of nature? And what is exactly a violation of natural laws? Dorothy Coleman points out past experience shows that what are at one time considered violations of natural laws are frequently found ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a movement of goods that represents a foreign exchange, that is, goods cross the boundaries of the individual countries or economic unit. Foreign trade links the country s internal economy with the world economy and fulfills important functions in the process of developing the productive forces and international division of labor. (Markusen, 1995) The basis of foreign trade is the realization of imports and exports of goods and services between the domestic economy and other countries. The theoretical basis of foreign trade policy consists of individual theories of foreign trade, which have been formed since the 18th century. These theories were protectionist or liberal, depending on the objectives and the tools used. Each state has its own foreign trade policy. Foreign trade policy to be defined as a set of principles and measures undertaken by the state in the field of foreign trade using trade policy instruments. (Markusen, 1995) The history of foreign trade relations in the world economy is linked to a dispute between the two basic ties of trade policy. The second type is liberalism, whose supporters advocate free trade. (Reuvid Sherlock, 2004) Free trade is defined as a system, where goods or services flows across the ... Lack of agreement between the three imperial powers over the location of the boundaries separating their territories in North America led to disagreement between Mexico and an expansionist U.S. After Mexico gained its independence in 1821, many U.S. leaders argued for taking part or all of Mexico s territory. Numerous prominent U.S. politicians, driven by the ideology of Manifest Destiny, considered taking Mexico a divine right. How the True World Finally Became Fable, a section in Twilight of the Idols, is subtitled The History of an Error , for it supposes to give a short rendering of how the true world is lost in the histories of disfiguring philosophies that posit otherworldly dualistic metaphysics. First, Plato s vision of the realm of forms. The true world attainable for the sage, the pious, the virtuous man... , a feasible world, achievable through piety and wisdom. A world a man may come to know, at least possible for the contemplative and diligent student. In this early imagining the world is not entirely lost yet, it is however, removed from the concrete world. A world hardly accessible but by the few who might escape the cave. The first realization of nihilism is the denial of the sensuous world for the really real. The idea of the true world removed is then characterized as the Christian world. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Why Abraham Lincoln Is the Greatest Leader Why Abraham Lincoln is the Greatest Leader! Kathleen Belger English Comp II Baker Flint February 10, 2011 There was a boy born in the dust and silence of the country side, in a little log cabin, to a modest family of uneducated hard working laborers. Life was hard, yet simple. Days were filled with hard work and a yearning to survive. The absence of ambition and education within the community ran as ramped as the hills and forests that surrounded the community where the boy grew. Yet that boy rose up out of the dust and the trees in search for something more. That boy grew up, and took America by the hand, guided it through one of them most important changes in history. Lincoln eventually won and on May 18, 1860, Lincoln was nominated and started a run for Presidency. With a total of four candidates running for office Lincoln won the election on November 6. He received no votes from the south, but the popular votes were so widely distributed, that Lincoln won the majority of votes in the Electoral College, which won him the Presidency. Lincoln felt passionate about his country, the view on where his country was headed and used his political skills to spread his message, ultimately becoming president. (Abraham Lincoln biography) (Britannica) Perhaps Lincoln s greatest achievement as a leader was preserving the union. It was his belief in a house divided cannot stand that led him towards presidency and preserved the United States of America. Before Lincoln became President, the country was in turmoil as to keep slavery or abolish it. It was an issue that was literally ripping this nation apart. Even before Lincoln took office, South Carolina had seceded from the union. The Southern states tried to put forth constitutional amendments that would guarantee slavery forever. Lincoln did not like what the southern states wanted to do, so he convinced all Republicans to vote against the measure which resulted in six more states leaving the union. The called themselves the Confederate States of America. Although Lincoln respected them for sticking to their values, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Evaluating Restaurants (1) Discussion Question 2 1 What types of performance measurements might be used to evaluate a restaurant? I believe that types of performance measurements are used to evaluate a restaurant are quality of customer service, financial performance, price of meals, quality of food, customer satisfaction, and operation management. Many people use Yelp to find a restaurant when we want to try a new restaurant. Yelp has pictures and comments by customers. Most of time customers talk about food and quality of service. I think that customer satisfaction is the most important to evaluate a restaurant because it is directly related to their profit. Even though they have great food and cost, there are no repeating customers with poor performing waitresses/waiters. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Drum Women At Valley Forge The book Following the Drum Women at the Valley Forge Encampment gave a very good incite to not just what it was like for the men at Valley Forge, but what it was like for the women who were there. In the winter of 1777 8 at Valley Forge there were about one woman of every forty four men (Loane 133). I think book stressed that these women were incredibly helpful in the effort to rebuild this army through the rough winter, no matter what their job were. Although Washington did not think much of the women with the army; he once commanded every woman to leave camp, no matter what her contribution or marital state. The General s unfavorable attitude toward the common camp women did not extend to all women Valley Forge (4). To me it s interesting that General Washington said this about the women there, because throughout the book I felt Washington enjoyed the presence of his wife and the other troop s wives at the encampment. I feel like Americans typically perceive the story of Valley Forge as a battle. Attacks never came from the British during the time the Continental Army was at the encampment. They believe that tons of lives were lost there, when in reality, it was just a place for them to make it through the winter. I think the book reinforces the perceptions of what happened there since, There was between fifteen hundred and three thousand men that died at Valley Forge, not from their wounds, but from disease (119). This statement reinforces the fact that no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Paleolithic And Neolithic Revolution The transition from the Paleolithic period to the Neolithic period marked a major revolution in the ways that humans lived and the methods that they used their resources. The Paleolithic period, which lasted from around 40,000 to 8,000 B.C.E, was characterized by hunter gatherers and a nomadic way of life. These ancient people lived a simplistic life and traveled around, not creating any permanent settlements because they did not have a deep understanding of how to use their resources. This all changed when the Neolithic Revolution occurred around the year 8,000 B.C.E, human behavior and the style of living started to become more complex than ever before. We can see, through the evidence of ancient artwork created near Mesopotamia, that the transition from the Paleolithic period to the Neolithic period involved various advances in cultural ideas, the way of living and use of resources. During the Neolithic Revolution people started to create more permanent settlements. These settlements popped up in places such as the Fertile Crescent, and in places like these humans let go of there hunter gather past and leapt into a new life of farming. They set up communities and divided up labor among residents. Crops were farmed near the villages, and animals were domesticated. Since it was much easier for people to get their daily needs without moving from place to place, people had a lot of time on their hands to develop other things such as art and religion. After this advancement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
