Personal Statement For The Support Group
Introduction For the support group that I led we planned on having it be focused around testimonies. I
wanted for us each to be able to get to know one another on a deeper level than we had, specifically
spiritually. I thought that doing five minute testimonies was a good way to be able to get to know one
another better while still not making everyone divulge all of their life to people they are still getting to
know and learning to trust. With the testimonies theme, I wanted my icebreaker to lead into the
importance of listening to our client s stories and using our story as a platform for Christ. For my
ending activity I wanted to lead into next support groups topic which we had decided would be about
our current walk with the Lord.
Group goals
At our first support group we decided that our goals would stay the same each week. Our primary goal
was to practice group facilitation and group participation. Our sub goals were to support one another
and get to know one another. We began our first support group with not really supporting one another
because there was no need for it; however, the second support group we supported one another as we
shared about our families. The third support group also got deeper in supporting one another as we
talked about our high school experiences. The fourth group I felt that we did not exercise the sub goal
to support one another because it was more educational than supportive.
I was nervous going after we talked about stress because it

To Sleep is to Dream
I have often had dreams that were so real and vivid, that I was unable to tell if they truly happened or
occurred in my dreams. Sleeping is very important to everyone. Without proper sleep, the body s
immune system can begin to fail, and then one will become more susceptible to virus, illnesses, and
disease. Even when we are asleep, the human mind does not completely sleep. When we are asleep,
we tend to tune out environmental sounds that occur when we sleep. For example, I live near a
freeway, yet the sounds of it never wake me. The auditory cortex in our brains respond to stimuli even
when we are asleep. For example, I can always wake up when one of my children calls my name
while I am in a deep slumber. There have been many studies and observations on individuals while
they are asleep. These studies are done on individuals who have sleep disorders. There are four phases
of sleep, and when one does not get the proper sleep, physical and mental issues will occur. Our
bodies work in tides, and our minds and bodies fluctuate. When our bodies seem to synchronize with
the 24 hour day, it is referred to as the circadian rhythm. It is the biological clock that tells us when it
is day time we are awake, and night time is when we are supposed to sleep. Age and experience can
affect the circadian rhythm, and I see this in myself. For instance, when I was in my teens and twenty
s, I had no problem staying up all night, whether it was working a graveyard shift, or

The Importance of Harry Hoveden in Making History Essay
The Importance of Harry Hoveden in Making History
In making history, Brian Friel uses Hugh O Neill to define the characters in the play, and the way in
which his actions affect them gives the audience some characteristics to decide on the personality of
particular characters.
Harry Hoveden is obviously an important character in the play because he plays a major part in the
play, and appears in most of the major scenes. It is also clear that he is important to O Neill because he
is often the one person he turns to in times of crisis.
Harry is presented as a very loyal and sober character by, he serves to balance out some of the other
characters almost like a buffer. His calm nature in times of distress or excitement ... Show more

This calming and soothing effect also reflects on the audience because if he was not included, the play
would be a lot more negative and the audience would be more likely to feel insecure about the flow of
the play. His character contrasts so much with most of the other characters that it adds diversity to
making history. It makes some scenes more interesting because of the presence of this calm and
obviously intelligent character and his political soundness can mock characters like O Donnell. When
compared to characters like O Donnell
Harry is a very likeable character and appears as someone to be trusted and relied upon.
Brian Friel also uses him and his overwhelming loyalty towards O Neill to show a weakness in O
Neill s character. O Neill uses Harry to portray certain characters via contrast and particularly O Neill
by the way he treats Harry. It often appears that O Neill takes Harry for granted showing another side
to his character that can be thought of as weakness. Also the fact that whenever O Neill puts Harry
down he regrets it almost immediately shows that O Neill is insecure and sometimes does not think
before he speaks, so Brian Friel uses Harry to show a very important side to O Neill that could have
affected his judgment during the wars he fought and led.
Harry is also an expositional character, and Brian uses him to expose

Essay On Soldiers Uprising
A little over a week ago, the most I d ever seen of an uprising, was from a film in one of my classes at
Duke. I can still remember one film they d shown us in particular. There had been a small group of
people protesting their...something. Their living conditions maybe. I remember watching as the
soldiers were forced to throw pulse grenades into the crowd, that threw people to the ground, so the
soldiers could take them into custody. But I have never seen anything like this before, a crowd of
couple hundred strong risking their lives like this. I shake my head. I don t understand why their doing
this, don t they have any idea how will be forced to respond? Are these people insane? I ask

frown, Commander Winters turns and strides away. What is he doing? The second I see one of the
soldiers raise his gun, my muscles tighten like a coiled wire, as the truth hits me. Commander Winters,
wait what are you doing? I say, but he can t hear me over the screams of those in the crowd who ve

Practices that cause failure in leadership and management:
Ignoring the environment
One of the best ways to ensure failure in an organization is to manage it without regard for its external
environment, ignoring those stakeholders who play such an important role in the organizations success
or failure. To ignore the potential power possessed by the various stakeholder groups is unwise and it
often results from either ignorance or stagnation on the part of the developing organization.
Incorrectly identifying solutions to problems
It has been a trait of managers to want to treat symptoms rather than finding the root cause of a
problem and then they wonder why the problem keeps coming back. Many times managers fail to
realize that some of the problems that occur are just minor glitches, while the rest of the lot have a real
effect on the bottom line. Successful managers are the ones who can pinpoint which problems will
have the biggest impact on the bottom line and then focus their efforts in managing solutions to those
problems.

Social And Social Impacts Of Tourism On Las Palmas
What are the economic, social and environmental impacts of tourism on Las Palmas?
Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands in Spain is a beautiful place to visit
during the holiday. A subtropical climate, mild to warm temperatures which stay quite the same
throughout the entire year and sandy beaches tempt tourists every year. These great features promote
the tourism in Las Palmas. Literally tourism, or in this case, mass tourism, is a move of people around
the world. It is all about presenting the character of a touristic destination and providing great facilities
in order to satisfy customers (tourists) desires and their changing, dynamic needs, mainly focusing on
their preferences. If tourism was not provided in Las Palmas, people would go bankrupt as tourism

However, Las Palmas exists only thanks to tourism. The Canary Islands would not be able to exist if
tourism was not provided. The economic impacts of tourism on Las Palmas are that tourism became a
major economy, that it makes up 32% of GDP. It creates a lot of new temporary jobs, but they are low
paid so they unfortunately are not any good opportunities for inhabitants. Due to big numbers of
people coming, main infrastructures of Las Palmas get worse. The social impacts are that both
inhabitants and tourists interact together, get to know about each other s culture. Global interest and
awareness is raised. Tourists destroy cultural monuments, act bad after drinking alcohol and speak
other language what is confusing for original residents. The environmental impacts on Las Palmas are
that a lot of woodlands are cut down in order to place new accommodations there. It causes the loss in
diversity of the landscape. However, there are some places full of trees as some people prefer
spending their holiday in wood houses in forests. Therefore, trees are

Ammon Ford s Poem
Does poetry really stand a chance if you just read between the lines and not dig deeper to find the full
meaning of the poem? In Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, he strives
to read between the lines however, he is set back by his lack of motivation to further develop his full
ideas of the poem itself. Frost s poem has two main symbols in which they represent society and being
on the outside of today s society this is proven by the ideas given in the poem. In the article Ford
summarizes the main ideas in Robert Frost s poem Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening. Ford
explains how there are many meanings to the poem. Throughout this poem, Ford is giving his
opinions on what he thinks about Frost s poem. Also, he explains how there could be many more
meanings beneath the surface symbols that Frost presents. Ford proves his ideas and shows what he
thinks about the symbols in the poem. In the article Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a
Snowy Evening, Ford realizes that there is a deeper meaning to the poem. Understanding this, Ford
realizes that the deeper meaning to the poem could mean so much more. This is enjoyable because the
deeper meanings in the poem is what Ford is trying to interpert. Ford does a good job of explaining his
deeper meanings when saying, The horse could be symbolic of some wordy resemblance or one of the
promises. Ford is further developing this symbol into another meaning. It is awesome how Ford does
not just see on the surface level and digs deeper to find the true meaning. However, on a deeper level
Ford presents ideas in his article that could mean something totally different. Although, Ford digs
deeper to further the meaning of symbolism, he also stays just right under the surface level. Despite
him digging a little deeper Ford fails to explain the real meanings of the symbols. On the other hand
Ford even says how , I personally would rather read the lines than read between them. When Ford
states this is shows that he really did not fully interpret the true meaning of the symbols in Frost s
poem. This shows that Ford would have rather just read the poem than actually digging for the true
meaning. As a result, Ford s explanations

Go About Preparing For A Writing Assignment
1. How do you typically go about preparing for a writing assignment? Describe the steps you take,
including rereading the assignment, asking questions about it, talking to instructors or friends, jotting
down ideas, gathering information, and so on. How far in advance of the due date do you usually
begin working on the assignment?
Typically, I look at the assignment as soon as I can before the due date in order to begin the
brainstorming process. This could be three months or two days prior to the due date, depending on the
situation. The early brainstorming process creates a general path for my writing process. When I am
ready to begin the writing process, I ask myself what the purpose of the assignment is and what point I
am trying to make. I then begin researching the topic by using mostly online resources, however,
books and interviews are sometimes required. After enough information is found for my assignment, I
begin writing the assignment.
2. When and where do your best ideas come to you?
My best ideas come to me when I am either relaxed in the shower or in the middle of an intense
exercise routine. Although they are extreme opposites, they are some of the only times that I am
completely withdrawn from the outside world.
3. Where do you usually do your writing? Describe this place. Is it a good place to write? Why, or why
not?
I currently live with my sister s family and have one room in there house. I usually do my writing in

Patent Strategies Like Evergreening Differently Impact The...
By: Anuradha Prasad
Patent strategies like evergreening differently impact the developing world. The practice of
evergreening not just refer to extending the original patent, but also includes strategies and practices
used to protect a cluster of related, but unoriginal, technologies through the filing of secondary
applications. This contributes to increased medical costs by keeping lower cost generic alternatives out
of the marketplace. This chapter gives an overview of the evergreening strategies that are employed by
branded pharmaceutical companies as a tactic to bypass existing patent laws and limit generic
competition in the marketplace. The frequency of such strategies demands strong patent
interpretations that are protective of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking the advantage of this existing loophole in patent law, patent applications for the developments
or modifications is not just filed by the original product developer but also by other companies
including generic companies. One the one hand the branded companies advertise to customers their
brand value and reliability, and on the other hand they try to cast generics negatively on the basis of
poor replication, or unsatisfactory testing before commercial production of the original formula.
However, the argument put forth by branded companies is that they enable the development of a non
infringing competitor product thereby channeling designing around the patent.
A monopoly right that is suitably limited is vital in helping preserve the policy underlying the Patent
Act of promoting innovation while still allowing the intellectual property to enter the public domain.

Personal Income Tax Law
AB 697 Personal income tax: credits: senior citizen renters
The Personal Income Tax Law is design to give income tax credit to senior citizen who rent in certain
counties of the state of California. The Personal Income tax applies mainly to those senior citizen
living in poverty levels and renting in the County of Alameda, the City and County of San Francisco,
County of Ventura, and the County of Santa Clara. Certain qualifications must be met by the senior
citizen requesting the income tax credit. Some of these qualifications includes being over the age of 62
years, the qualified residence must be the primary residence, name on the lease, income of less than
$50,000, and live in the qualifying counties. Today, 20 percent of seniors, 65 years and older, already

stared to rise again in 2008 economic collapse, during which many seniors lost their jobs, homes,
savings and pensions. I believe the Personal Income Tax Law should be implemented not just in
California but in all the United States. Many of our senior citizens work very hard for so many years
to end up living in poverty. In some cultures the elderly are honor and respected because of their age.
Somehow I see that in our time and age that respect and honor to our seniors is being lost. They
deserve to get as much help as they need to survive and live a decent life in their most vulnerable age.
So I do agree with laws that give our seniors the opportunity to live a joyful life without the worry of

The Impact Of Texting And Tweeting On Our Live Speech.
The Impact of Texting and Tweeting on Our Live Speech With mobile phones where the small screen

generation is introducing a new phase of texting where words are usually represented with acronyms

Let s take a look at the conversation below between a mother and her son to illustrate the impact of
texting and abbreviation in our interpretation. Mother: What does IDK mean? Son: I don t know.
Mother: Never mind, I ll ask your sister. Her son gave the correct answer to her question, but she
thought that he didn t know the answer and wanted to ask his sister instead. This is an example of an
abbreviation that might lead to confusion and misunderstanding in our conversations. Tweeters and
texters try to refine sentences into a few characters, and this results in excessive use of abbreviations
which makes it inevitable to miss some important information. Using initials of a word or totally
different characters to form a shorthand acronym is unreliable and confusing. David Crystal wrote in
his article that No texter is entirely consistent and no two texters use identical conventions (245).
Someone who text CYA (see you) in a text message will most likely pronounce it the same way as his
text, making it an unclear and unpleasant phrase for the listener. Critics say abbreviations save us time,
and there is no connection between how we tweet and how we speak. I have been in many situations
where I have to search for the meaning of an abbreviation in a text message. An abbreviation doesn t
necessarily save you time. To the contrary, the ambiguous nature of an abbreviation

Difference Between Developed And Developed Countries
In the last century, incomes in the less developed (or euphemistically, the developing ) countries have
fallen far behind those in the developed countries, both proportionately and absolutely. I estimate that
from 1870 to 1990 the ratio of per capita incomes between the richest and the poorest countries
increased by roughly a factor of five and that the difference in income between the richest country and
all others has increased by an order of magnitude.1 This divergence is the result of the very different
patterns in the long run economic performance of two sets of countries. One set of countries call them
the developed or the advanced capitalist (Maddison, 1995) or the high income OECD (World Bank,
1995) is easily, if awkwardly, identified as European countries and their offshoots plus Japan. Since
1870, the long run growth rates of these countries have been rapid (by previous historical standards),
their growth rates have been remarkably similar, and the poorer members of the group grew
sufficiently faster to produce considerable convergence in absolute income levels. The other set of
countries, called the developing or less developed or nonindustrialized, can be easily, if still
awkwardly, defined only as the other set of countries, as they have nothing else in common. The
growth rates of this set of countries have been, on average, slower than the richer countries, producing
divergence in relative incomes. But amongst this set of countries there have

Analysis Of Jack Sparrow s Pirates Of The Caribbean
An interesting quotation that I came upon describing a trickster is A company of wolves, is better than
a company of wolves in sheep s clothing. In this paper I will be analyzing Jack Sparrow in Pirates of
the Caribbean and the many ways he cloaks himself to gain the likes of his peers while being the
definition of a trickster on the inside. I will be discussing him via monomyth, as a trickster, and a
cathartic and motivational hero. Jack Sparrow is a main character in the Pirates of the Caribbean series
spanning four movies. Throughout the series, Sparrow goes on numerous journeys and faces a
multitude of trials and tribulations. As defined on yourdictionary.com a monomyth is a cyclical

After he escapes, he is found in another situation where he wakes up on the Queen Anne s Revenge
and must convince the crew that he is the real Jack Sparrow. Here he uses his tricky and slick tongue
to persuade the crew to lead a mutiny. After meeting Blackbeard, he agrees to help him find the
fountain of youth, but he is only trying to find it for his own profit. A trickster blurs boundaries of
society and does it for his own good. Sparrow blurs the boundaries between being a pirate and doing
the right thing. Throughout the series, he can be seen offering to help and then turning it into his own
personal gain. In on Stranger Tides, Sparrow acts like he is going to help the king and then turns
against him and escapes. Once he arrives on Blackbeard s ship, Sparrow agrees to help them find the
fountain of youth. Once on the journey, he turns to doing what benefits him; thus, again blurring the
boundaries and using trickery. Captain Barbosa is another character who uses trickery and blurs
boundaries. The rivalry between Sparrow and Barbosa is evident of trickery in how they build off each
other to trick others for their own good. In on Stranger Tides Barbosa acts as a captain for the British
Navy to find Blackbeard who took his leg from him in the past. Barbosa was only using the Navy to
run a ship to follow Blackbeard and find the fountain of youth where he turned back into a pirate with
the motive to kill Blackbeard.

Ncidentaloma Research Paper
ncidentaloma is a tumor that does not show any symptoms until it is discovered by some types of
examinations that were not previously planed. Adrenal cortex, a part of the adrenal gland, is where
most of the adrenal tumors develop. Adrenal cortex tumors can have either benign or cancerous
properties.
Usually patients accidentally come across diagnostics of the disease. For example, a change in female
hormone levels can be a good indicator for whether a person has an adrenal tumor. One would
investigate whether an incidentaloma was influencing adrenal cortical hormone levels by performing
numerous tests and diagnostics. The first step is the collection of urine or blood samples to be tested
for adrenal gland hormone levels. If a suspicious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Different tests are usually performed to quantify the levels of cortisol, such as treating patients with
dexamethasone. Dexamethasone acts like cortisol for the patient s body. Upon delivery to a patient
who does not have adrenal tumor, the production of the cortisol will decrease. On the other hand if a
patient has an adrenal tumor, then hormone levels will stay high even after receiving dexamethasone.
Another test that one can perform to measure the effect of an adrenal tumor is performing an ACTH
test, which measures the level of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) in the blood. ACTH is a
hormone that is produced from the pituitary gland in the brain. Thus by performing the test one can
get information about its concentration in the serum. Usually if adrenal mass is influencing the
corticosteroid levels the test will show a higher level of cortisol while giving a lower level of ACTH
levels.
Another diagnostic method to diagnose adrenal tumors is cortisol saliva testing. In this test, the
amount of cortisol in the saliva at or near midnight is normally very low. Multiple repeats of the test to
confirm elevated cortisol levels can diagnose Cushing s syndrome. Cushing s syndrome is excess
cortisol levels, possibly due to the body secreting too much

Jesse Debenport s Poem Hey Daddy
Loss, glumness, and hurt have you read the poem Hey Daddy ? Jesse Debenport expresses extensive
misery because he lost his father, but we were never told what happened to him. I believe his father
left the family, but intends to still have a relationship with his son. First, I believe the father left
because the way Jesse expresses his emotions makes me infer that his father can still return, but it s a
little uncomfortable to go back to a family that he left. In the poem, Hey Daddy (Please Come Back)
By Jesse Debenport, Jesse states with strong desire, I ll try and set aside at least one day a week... So
we can hop in the truck and go four wheeling. This shows me that Jesse s father is still alive because a
dead father can t go four wheeling anywhere. This also tells me that his father can still come back, if
they can still go four wheeling together. Jesse also states, Remind me to give you a hug goodnight I
never want you to feel like I m leaving you out to dry... Again, this tells me his father is still alive and
can t be dead. This also makes me feel like his father ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jesse states in the first paragraph, There are a couple of things you missed... Here are a couple of
things I want you to remember. All of these quotes from the poem tell me that his father is still alive.
This quote also makes me believe that it was his first time meeting his father and he wants his father
to remember somethings about him. Also the title tells us his father can come back because he wants
his father to return. People might believe that his father died, but it doesn t add up. Jesse told his father
his feelings and seems to intend for him to read his letter, and there are no mailboxes at gravesites. It
also can t be an emotional letter just to express himself because Jesse talks about asking his father to
spend time with him. This all shows that his father can t be

Terror Management Theory Essay example
Terror management theory (TMT) asserts that human beings have natural tendency for self
preservation if there is threat to one s well being (Greenberg, Solomon, Pyszczynski, 1997). It notes
that we are the cultural animals that pose self awareness on the concept of past and future, as well as
the understanding that one day we will die. We concern about our life and death but aware that it is
unexpected by everything. The worse matter is that we become aware of our vulnerability and
helplessness when facing death related thoughts and ultimate demise (Pyszczynski Greenberg, 1992).
The inevitable death awareness or mortality salience provides a ground for experiencing the existential
terror, which is the overwhelming concern of people s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We react to the death concerns through the acquisition and maintenance of self esteem. Empirical
evidences have established the association between self esteem and cultural worldview. It showed that
individuals with strong culture worldviews have higher self esteem (Solomon, Greenberg,
Pyszczynski, 1991). On the other hand, the research suggested that self esteem is able to serve a death
denying function. If someone is being asked to think about their own death, it would increase their
need for the protection affords by the cultural worldview and the self worth derived from it (Harmon
Jones, Greenberg, Pyszczynski, Solomon, McGregor, 1997). Based on this presumption, TMT derives
a hypothesis anxiety buffer hypothesis, suggesting that self esteem serves as an anxiety buffer against
the mortality salience (Pyszczynski et al., 1999). Anxiety buffer hypothesis posits that self esteem is
an emotional buffer to defend against anxiety (Solomon et al., 1991). There are several significant
evidences to support the claim that self esteem serves as an anxiety buffer function. First of all, there
are large literature review indicated that self esteem is negatively correlated with various measures of
anxiety and the physical and psychological consequences of anxiety. Leary and Downs (1995)
demonstrated that

Persuasive Essay About Lying
White lies are the most commonly type of lies, but there are also lies to protect others, and lies to
cause harm which are used less often. Teensagers lie when they feel like it and need to in a situation
that is presented to them. Experts like Immanuel Kant explains that all lies are unjustified, whereas
Randy Cohen and Bella DePaulo express their professional opinion that lying is usually justified.
Lying to others is sometimes justified due to the fact that lies can harm relationships, protect others,
and should be used in a life or death situation.
To begin with, when one lies it can harm relationships with the ones you care most about. For
example, Cohen Explains that Once a person finds out you lied you lose currency in their eyes (Article
1, paragraph 12). Basically, lying in this situation has caused one to lost the trust of another. This is
important because if one continues to lie it can affect the relationship one has towards another. For
instance, Blanton states that we should have the courage to be honest and have a relationship with
others based on reality (Article 3, paragraph 5). One can see by this that Blanton wants us to
understand that if we want to maintain a relationship one must have the courage to be honest and try to
to lie. From this, one can infer that if one wants others to believe and trust them they should try to at
least not lie when it comes to an important relationship. Therefore, lying is justified when one is trying
to not harm the

Dog Is Man s Best Friend
Dog is Man s Best Friend The image that I chose was a photograph taken by a woman named Elena
Shunilova. The photo was taken of her child and their family dog. To me, this image is beautiful. In
the center, there is a young boy kneeling down next to a very large dog. It appears to be just transition
to winter from autumn. The ground is still brown but snow is faintly falling around the boy and dog.
The young boy is wearing a navy blue snow outfit with tan fur accents around the hood and in a ball
on top of his hat. His eyes are closed as he is embracing the large dog sitting next to him. It seems to
be cold out based on his rosy red cheeks against his very pale skin. The dog stands tall and appears to
be older than the boy by the matting in the cream colored fur on his chest. He is black around the
jowls as well as his eyes and ears. If the boy were to stand tall next to him, he would barely be taller.
The dog s eyes are also closed and his front legs are in a wide stance. The bottom and top of the image
are slightly blurred, and very dull in color. It appears to be a very cloudy day. The image itself as well
as the setting is enough to raise curiosity in the story behind this photograph. There are some aspects
of this image that really stood out to me. Typically, when you introduce children to large dogs, or
really any animals, they are terrified and do not want to be around them. I can only imagine walking
up to an animal that stands taller than you; I would be

would therefore monitor for any signs and symptoms of bowel obstruction. For example, vomiting is
an early sign of of bowel obstruction, abdominal pain, constipation, severe bloating, decreased
appetite and diarrhoea (Moore, 2005). The nurses would have to develop a ceiling of care for Ms LG s
goal if surgery was not an option in the case of more than one metastasis.
Ceiling of care is the patient s expectation from a healthcare setting of their treatment and what is in
the best interest of the patient (BMJ, 2015). As nurses are the advocates for

Business Management Essays
Business Management The world of business has undergone radical and dramatic changes in the last
decade changes that present extraordinary challenges for the contemporary manager. A manager is an
organizational member who is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the
activities of the organization so that the goals can be achieved. According to a widely referenced study

Controlling is monitoring the performance of the organization, identifying deviations between planned
and actual results, and taking corrective action when necessary. With all these four functions that are
involved in the process of management, if all are followed correctly the organization will be properly
ran and will have few complications. In every organization there are managers, and every manager is
classed on different levels in terms of the skills they need and the activities they are involved in.
Managers exist at various levels in the organization hierarchy. A small organization may have one
layer of management, where as a large organization may have several. In most organizations there are
three level of managers. The three level of managers are, first line manager, middle manager, and
finally the top level manager. Managers at different job levels have different job responsibilities and

responsible for producing the organization s product or delivering its service. They carry titles such as
production supervisor, line manager, section chief, or account manager. First line managers along with

The Final Solution from Witnesses to the Holocaust
The years of 1941 and 1942 paint a vivid description of ugly, taking place events too hard to take in,
and the death of 6 million innocent people. The Final Solution in an excerpt from Witnesses to the
Holocaust: An Oral History, where Sam Bankhalter and Hinda Kibort detail their horrifying account of
Hitler s rash and day to day life in the Nazi concentration camps where they were imprisoned. The
Final Solution was a plan systematically matriculated by the Nazi to exterminate European Jews by
placing them in work camps designed for certain death.
Sam Bankhalter was just fourteen at the time when he was captured by the Nazis in his native land of
Poland and exiled to Auschwitz. In a detailed account he paints the picture of life as a Jew during
Hitler s fury and the unimaginable accounts of terror that occurred. According to Bankhalter, racism of
European Jews was already occurring in Poland even before Hitler invaded, and their slogan was Jew
get out of here and go to Palestine. He accounts of being beaten and spit on the school grounds on a
daily basis, long before Hitler invaded. Bankhalter describes his journey to the ghetto as laced with
barbed wire and Nazi mocking Jews cutting off men s beards and beating them as they yelled at the
Jews to assemble. The Nazi s only gave them about twenty minutes to pack, leaving them time to only
gather the necessities, which would only be stripped from them later. Bankhalter was only in the
ghetto for a short time, and then sent

  • 2. Personal Statement For The Support Group Introduction For the support group that I led we planned on having it be focused around testimonies. I wanted for us each to be able to get to know one another on a deeper level than we had, specifically spiritually. I thought that doing five minute testimonies was a good way to be able to get to know one another better while still not making everyone divulge all of their life to people they are still getting to know and learning to trust. With the testimonies theme, I wanted my icebreaker to lead into the importance of listening to our client s stories and using our story as a platform for Christ. For my ending activity I wanted to lead into next support groups topic which we had decided would be about our current walk with the Lord. Group goals At our first support group we decided that our goals would stay the same each week. Our primary goal was to practice group facilitation and group participation. Our sub goals were to support one another and get to know one another. We began our first support group with not really supporting one another because there was no need for it; however, the second support group we supported one another as we shared about our families. The third support group also got deeper in supporting one another as we talked about our high school experiences. The fourth group I felt that we did not exercise the sub goal to support one another because it was more educational than supportive. I was nervous going after we talked about stress because it ... • 3. To Sleep is to Dream I have often had dreams that were so real and vivid, that I was unable to tell if they truly happened or occurred in my dreams. Sleeping is very important to everyone. Without proper sleep, the body s immune system can begin to fail, and then one will become more susceptible to virus, illnesses, and disease. Even when we are asleep, the human mind does not completely sleep. When we are asleep, we tend to tune out environmental sounds that occur when we sleep. For example, I live near a freeway, yet the sounds of it never wake me. The auditory cortex in our brains respond to stimuli even when we are asleep. For example, I can always wake up when one of my children calls my name while I am in a deep slumber. There have been many studies and observations on individuals while they are asleep. These studies are done on individuals who have sleep disorders. There are four phases of sleep, and when one does not get the proper sleep, physical and mental issues will occur. Our bodies work in tides, and our minds and bodies fluctuate. When our bodies seem to synchronize with the 24 hour day, it is referred to as the circadian rhythm. It is the biological clock that tells us when it is day time we are awake, and night time is when we are supposed to sleep. Age and experience can affect the circadian rhythm, and I see this in myself. For instance, when I was in my teens and twenty s, I had no problem staying up all night, whether it was working a graveyard shift, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Importance of Harry Hoveden in Making History Essay The Importance of Harry Hoveden in Making History In making history, Brian Friel uses Hugh O Neill to define the characters in the play, and the way in which his actions affect them gives the audience some characteristics to decide on the personality of particular characters. Harry Hoveden is obviously an important character in the play because he plays a major part in the play, and appears in most of the major scenes. It is also clear that he is important to O Neill because he is often the one person he turns to in times of crisis. Harry is presented as a very loyal and sober character by, he serves to balance out some of the other characters almost like a buffer. His calm nature in times of distress or excitement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This calming and soothing effect also reflects on the audience because if he was not included, the play would be a lot more negative and the audience would be more likely to feel insecure about the flow of the play. His character contrasts so much with most of the other characters that it adds diversity to making history. It makes some scenes more interesting because of the presence of this calm and obviously intelligent character and his political soundness can mock characters like O Donnell. When compared to characters like O Donnell Harry is a very likeable character and appears as someone to be trusted and relied upon. Brian Friel also uses him and his overwhelming loyalty towards O Neill to show a weakness in O Neill s character. O Neill uses Harry to portray certain characters via contrast and particularly O Neill by the way he treats Harry. It often appears that O Neill takes Harry for granted showing another side to his character that can be thought of as weakness. Also the fact that whenever O Neill puts Harry down he regrets it almost immediately shows that O Neill is insecure and sometimes does not think before he speaks, so Brian Friel uses Harry to show a very important side to O Neill that could have affected his judgment during the wars he fought and led. Harry is also an expositional character, and Brian uses him to expose different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I can still remember one film they d shown us in particular. There had been a small group of people protesting their...something. Their living conditions maybe. I remember watching as the soldiers were forced to throw pulse grenades into the crowd, that threw people to the ground, so the soldiers could take them into custody. But I have never seen anything like this before, a crowd of couple hundred strong risking their lives like this. I shake my head. The second I see one of the soldiers raise his gun, my muscles tighten like a coiled wire, as the truth hits me. Commander Winters, wait what are you doing? I say, but he can t hear me over the screams of those in the crowd who ve noticed, the soldiers on top of the buildings. Commander Winters glances at the crowd, as some of them push their way through the crowd in an attempt to escape. Commander Winter looks towards the roof. Fire. he shouts into his com. Practices that cause failure in leadership and management: Ignoring the environment One of the best ways to ensure failure in an organization is to manage it without regard for its external environment, ignoring those stakeholders who play such an important role in the organizations success or failure. To ignore the potential power possessed by the various stakeholder groups is unwise and it often results from either ignorance or stagnation on the part of the developing organization. Incorrectly identifying solutions to problems It has been a trait of managers to want to treat symptoms rather than finding the root cause of a problem and then they wonder why the problem keeps coming back. Many times managers fail to realize that some of the problems that occur are just minor glitches, while the rest of the lot have a real effect on the bottom line. • 7. Social And Social Impacts Of Tourism On Las Palmas What are the economic, social and environmental impacts of tourism on Las Palmas? Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands in Spain is a beautiful place to visit during the holiday. A subtropical climate, mild to warm temperatures which stay quite the same throughout the entire year and sandy beaches tempt tourists every year. These great features promote the tourism in Las Palmas. Literally tourism, or in this case, mass tourism, is a move of people around the world. Due to big numbers of people coming, main infrastructures of Las Palmas get worse. The social impacts are that both inhabitants and tourists interact together, get to know about each other s culture. Global interest and awareness is raised. Tourists destroy cultural monuments, act bad after drinking alcohol and speak other language what is confusing for original residents. • 8. Ammon Ford s Poem Does poetry really stand a chance if you just read between the lines and not dig deeper to find the full meaning of the poem? In Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, he strives to read between the lines however, he is set back by his lack of motivation to further develop his full ideas of the poem itself. Frost s poem has two main symbols in which they represent society and being on the outside of today s society this is proven by the ideas given in the poem. In the article Ford summarizes the main ideas in Robert Frost s poem Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening. Ford explains how there are many meanings to the poem. Throughout this poem, Ford is giving his opinions on what he thinks about Frost s poem. Also, he explains how there could be many more meanings beneath the surface symbols that Frost presents. Ford proves his ideas and shows what he thinks about the symbols in the poem. In the article Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, Ford realizes that there is a deeper meaning to the poem. Understanding this, Ford realizes that the deeper meaning to the poem could mean so much more. This is enjoyable because the deeper meanings in the poem is what Ford is trying to interpert. Ford does a good job of explaining his deeper meanings when saying, The horse could be symbolic of some wordy resemblance or one of the promises. Ford is further developing this symbol into another meaning. It is awesome how Ford does not just see on the surface level and digs deeper to find the true meaning. However, on a deeper level Ford presents ideas in his article that could mean something totally different. Although, Ford digs deeper to further the meaning of symbolism, he also stays just right under the surface level. Despite him digging a little deeper Ford fails to explain the real meanings of the symbols. On the other hand Ford even says how , I personally would rather read the lines than read between them. When Ford states this is shows that he really did not fully interpret the true meaning of the symbols in Frost s poem. This shows that Ford would have rather just read the poem than actually digging for the true meaning. As a result, Ford s explanations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Go About Preparing For A Writing Assignment 1. How do you typically go about preparing for a writing assignment? Describe the steps you take, including rereading the assignment, asking questions about it, talking to instructors or friends, jotting down ideas, gathering information, and so on. How far in advance of the due date do you usually begin working on the assignment? Typically, I look at the assignment as soon as I can before the due date in order to begin the brainstorming process. This could be three months or two days prior to the due date, depending on the situation. The early brainstorming process creates a general path for my writing process. When I am ready to begin the writing process, I ask myself what the purpose of the assignment is and what point I am trying to make. I then begin researching the topic by using mostly online resources, however, books and interviews are sometimes required. After enough information is found for my assignment, I begin writing the assignment. 2. When and where do your best ideas come to you? My best ideas come to me when I am either relaxed in the shower or in the middle of an intense exercise routine. Although they are extreme opposites, they are some of the only times that I am completely withdrawn from the outside world. 3. Where do you usually do your writing? Describe this place. The practice of evergreening not just refer to extending the original patent, but also includes strategies and practices used to protect a cluster of related, but unoriginal, technologies through the filing of secondary applications. This contributes to increased medical costs by keeping lower cost generic alternatives out of the marketplace. This chapter gives an overview of the evergreening strategies that are employed by branded pharmaceutical companies as a tactic to bypass existing patent laws and limit generic competition in the marketplace. The frequency of such strategies demands strong patent interpretations that are protective of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Taking the advantage of this existing loophole in patent law, patent applications for the developments or modifications is not just filed by the original product developer but also by other companies including generic companies. One the one hand the branded companies advertise to customers their brand value and reliability, and on the other hand they try to cast generics negatively on the basis of poor replication, or unsatisfactory testing before commercial production of the original formula. However, the argument put forth by branded companies is that they enable the development of a non infringing competitor product thereby channeling designing around the patent. A monopoly right that is suitably limited is vital in helping preserve the policy underlying the Patent Act of promoting innovation while still allowing the intellectual property to enter the public domain. II.EVERGREENING STRATEGIES A. I believe the Personal Income Tax Law should be implemented not just in California but in all the United States. Many of our senior citizens work very hard for so many years to end up living in poverty. In some cultures the elderly are honor and respected because of their age. Somehow I see that in our time and age that respect and honor to our seniors is being lost. The Impact of Texting and Tweeting on Our Live Speech With mobile phones where the small screen technology is so constraining, texting and tweeting plays a significant role in how we conduct our daily communication. David Crystal wrote an article titled Texting , and believes the younger generation is introducing a new phase of texting where words are usually represented with acronyms (241). Crystal called this abbreviated text exchange a textspeak (243). Kris Axtman is also a prominent author who wrote an article, R U Online? The Evolving Lexicon of Wired Teens (247). Mother: What does IDK mean? Son: I don t know. Mother: Never mind, I ll ask your sister. Her son gave the correct answer to her question, but she thought that he didn t know the answer and wanted to ask his sister instead. This is an example of an abbreviation that might lead to confusion and misunderstanding in our conversations. Tweeters and texters try to refine sentences into a few characters, and this results in excessive use of abbreviations which makes it inevitable to miss some important information. Using initials of a word or totally different characters to form a shorthand acronym is unreliable and confusing. David Crystal wrote in his article that No texter is entirely consistent and no two texters use identical conventions (245). Someone who text CYA (see you) in a text message will most likely pronounce it the same way as his text, making it an unclear and unpleasant phrase for the listener. Critics say abbreviations save us time, and there is no connection between how we tweet and how we speak. • 13. Difference Between Developed And Developed Countries In the last century, incomes in the less developed (or euphemistically, the developing ) countries have fallen far behind those in the developed countries, both proportionately and absolutely. I estimate that from 1870 to 1990 the ratio of per capita incomes between the richest and the poorest countries increased by roughly a factor of five and that the difference in income between the richest country and all others has increased by an order of magnitude.1 This divergence is the result of the very different patterns in the long run economic performance of two sets of countries. One set of countries call them the developed or the advanced capitalist (Maddison, 1995) or the high income OECD (World Bank, 1995) is easily, if awkwardly, identified as European countries and their offshoots plus Japan. Since 1870, the long run growth rates of these countries have been rapid (by previous historical standards), their growth rates have been remarkably similar, and the poorer members of the group grew sufficiently faster to produce considerable convergence in absolute income levels. The other set of countries, called the developing or less developed or nonindustrialized, can be easily, if still awkwardly, defined only as the other set of countries, as they have nothing else in common. The growth rates of this set of countries have been, on average, slower than the richer countries, producing divergence in relative incomes. But amongst this set of countries there have ... In on Stranger Tides, Sparrow acts like he is going to help the king and then turns against him and escapes. Once he arrives on Blackbeard s ship, Sparrow agrees to help them find the fountain of youth. Once on the journey, he turns to doing what benefits him; thus, again blurring the boundaries and using trickery. Captain Barbosa is another character who uses trickery and blurs boundaries. The rivalry between Sparrow and Barbosa is evident of trickery in how they build off each other to trick others for their own good. In on Stranger Tides Barbosa acts as a captain for the British Navy to find Blackbeard who took his leg from him in the past. Barbosa was only using the Navy to run a ship to follow Blackbeard and find the fountain of youth where he turned back into a pirate with the motive to kill Blackbeard. ... Adrenal cortex, a part of the adrenal gland, is where most of the adrenal tumors develop. Adrenal cortex tumors can have either benign or cancerous properties. Usually patients accidentally come across diagnostics of the disease. For example, a change in female hormone levels can be a good indicator for whether a person has an adrenal tumor. Different tests are usually performed to quantify the levels of cortisol, such as treating patients with dexamethasone. Dexamethasone acts like cortisol for the patient s body. Upon delivery to a patient who does not have adrenal tumor, the production of the cortisol will decrease. On the other hand if a patient has an adrenal tumor, then hormone levels will stay high even after receiving dexamethasone. Another test that one can perform to measure the effect of an adrenal tumor is performing an ACTH test, which measures the level of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) in the blood. ACTH is a hormone that is produced from the pituitary gland in the brain. Thus by performing the test one can get information about its concentration in the serum. Usually if adrenal mass is influencing the corticosteroid levels the test will show a higher level of cortisol while giving a lower level of ACTH levels. Another diagnostic method to diagnose adrenal tumors is cortisol saliva testing. In this test, the amount of cortisol in the saliva at or near midnight is normally very low. Multiple repeats of the test to confirm elevated cortisol levels can diagnose Cushing s syndrome. Cushing s syndrome is excess cortisol levels, possibly due to the body secreting too much ... Jesse Debenport expresses extensive misery because he lost his father, but we were never told what happened to him. First, I believe the father left because the way Jesse expresses his emotions makes me infer that his father can still return, but it s a little uncomfortable to go back to a family that he left. In the poem, Hey Daddy (Please Come Back) By Jesse Debenport, Jesse states with strong desire, I ll try and set aside at least one day a week... So we can hop in the truck and go four wheeling. This shows me that Jesse s father is still alive because a dead father can t go four wheeling anywhere. This also tells me that his father can still come back, if they can still go four wheeling together. Terror Management Theory Essay example Terror management theory (TMT) asserts that human beings have natural tendency for self preservation if there is threat to one s well being (Greenberg, Solomon, Pyszczynski, 1997). It notes that we are the cultural animals that pose self awareness on the concept of past and future, as well as the understanding that one day we will die. We concern about our life and death but aware that it is unexpected by everything. The worse matter is that we become aware of our vulnerability and helplessness when facing death related thoughts and ultimate demise (Pyszczynski Greenberg, 1992). The inevitable death awareness or mortality salience provides a ground for experiencing the existential terror, which is the overwhelming concern of people s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We react to the death concerns through the acquisition and maintenance of self esteem. Empirical evidences have established the association between self esteem and cultural worldview. It showed that individuals with strong culture worldviews have higher self esteem (Solomon, Greenberg, Pyszczynski, 1991). On the other hand, the research suggested that self esteem is able to serve a death denying function. If someone is being asked to think about their own death, it would increase their need for the protection affords by the cultural worldview and the self worth derived from it (Harmon Jones, Greenberg, Pyszczynski, Solomon, McGregor, 1997). Based on this presumption, TMT derives a hypothesis anxiety buffer hypothesis, suggesting that self esteem serves as an anxiety buffer against the mortality salience (Pyszczynski et al., 1999). Anxiety buffer hypothesis posits that self esteem is an emotional buffer to defend against anxiety (Solomon et al., 1991). There are several significant evidences to support the claim that self esteem serves as an anxiety buffer function. First of all, there are large literature review indicated that self esteem is negatively correlated with various measures of anxiety and the physical and psychological consequences of anxiety. • 23. Persuasive Essay About Lying White lies are the most commonly type of lies, but there are also lies to protect others, and lies to cause harm which are used less often. Teensagers lie when they feel like it and need to in a situation that is presented to them. Experts like Immanuel Kant explains that all lies are unjustified, whereas Randy Cohen and Bella DePaulo express their professional opinion that lying is usually justified. Lying to others is sometimes justified due to the fact that lies can harm relationships, protect others, and should be used in a life or death situation. To begin with, when one lies it can harm relationships with the ones you care most about. For example, Cohen Explains that Once a person finds out you lied you lose currency in their eyes (Article 1, paragraph 12). Basically, lying in this situation has caused one to lost the trust of another. This is important because if one continues to lie it can affect the relationship one has towards another. For instance, Blanton states that we should have the courage to be honest and have a relationship with others based on reality (Article 3, paragraph 5). One can see by this that Blanton wants us to understand that if we want to maintain a relationship one must have the courage to be honest and try to to lie. From this, one can infer that if one wants others to believe and trust them they should try to at least not lie when it comes to an important relationship. Therefore, lying is justified when one is trying to not harm the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To me, this image is beautiful. In the center, there is a young boy kneeling down next to a very large dog. It appears to be just transition to winter from autumn. The ground is still brown but snow is faintly falling around the boy and dog. The young boy is wearing a navy blue snow outfit with tan fur accents around the hood and in a ball on top of his hat. His eyes are closed as he is embracing the large dog sitting next to him. It seems to be cold out based on his rosy red cheeks against his very pale skin. The dog stands tall and appears to be older than the boy by the matting in the cream colored fur on his chest. He is black around the jowls as well as his eyes and ears. If the boy were to stand tall next to him, he would barely be taller. The dog s eyes are also closed and his front legs are in a wide stance. The bottom and top of the image are slightly blurred, and very dull in color. It appears to be a very cloudy day. The image itself as well as the setting is enough to raise curiosity in the story behind this photograph. There are some aspects of this image that really stood out to me.
