Negligence Is An Important Legal Principle
As I was saying, negligence is an important legal principle that enables a party, who has suffered loss
or damage resulting from the wrongful actions or inactions of another, to claim compensation from the
party responsible for their loss; and there is no contractual relationship between the parties necessary.
A successful negligence suit must have three elements present.
Element one is duty of care, which means that there is a legal obligation imposed in circumstances
where harm could be reasonably foreseen to occur to others. This element can be found by applying
the neighbour principle established in the Donoghue v Stevenson case. The neighbour principle states
that a person must take reasonable care to avoid acts or omission which you can reasonably foresee
would be likely to injure your neighbour.
Element two is breach of the duty of care. The plaintiff has the burden of proof to prove, on the
balance of probabilities, that the defendant had a duty of care and that duty of care was breached.
The third element is injury or damages suffered as a result of that breach. Now that a breach of duty of
care has been proved, it is crucial to show that the breach resulted in damage or injury to the plaintiff.
The defendant must be able to reasonably foresee that someone could be hurt by their actions.

The Cholera Spread In London In The 19th Century
The cholera has been the most terrifying disease spreading in London in the middle of nineteenth
century, which is an infection caused by strains of the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. In the summertime
of 1854 London was known as one of the most advanced and fashionable cities in the world with
almost 2.5 million people living there. Because of the overpopulation, the city was having a difficult
time to provide basic needs for the residents. According to Johnson (2006) the biggest existing
problem within the city at that time was its lack of waste removal system. The human trash was piling
up from the houses to the rivers and drinking water, which has led to the perfect conditions for a
number of diseases and more precisely that is when the cholera ... Show more content on

After interviewing more people who had relatives died, Snow find out that many people drank water
from Broad Street Pump on their way to work or school. Johnson (2006) says, Many Soho residents
who lived closer to other pumps one on Rupert Street and another on Little Marlborough opted to
walk an extra few blocks for the refreshing taste of Broad Street`s water. It was colder than the water
found at the rival pumps; it had a pleasant hint of carbonation (p.30). He also discovered that there
was not a single death recorded among the workers at Lion Brewery on Broad Street. They were rarely
seen to drink water from the pump because of the liquor they received as a part of their wages
(Johnson, 2006, p.142). Another important observation Snow has made is about the death of the
widow Susanna Eley who used to live in Broad Street, but after a while she moved to Hampstead
(Johnson, 2006, p.143). By asking her sons Snow found out that she drank the Broad Street water as
she loved it taste and even more, she had it delivered to the new house. After collecting all this
information Snow had strong evidence that the source of the cholera outbreak was exactly the Broad
Street pump. He came up with a plan how to deal with the cholera outbreak and went to the Board of
St. James Parish where he convinced the local officials that the pump

Les Miserables Redemption Essay
In the novel Les Miserables, Victor Hugo utilizes various redemptive acts to prove that redemption
impacts both the redeemed and the redeemer.
The theme of redemption appears countless times in the novel to emphasize the freedom, relief, and
healthy change that occurs when a person is redeemed. In the novel, Jean
Valjean redeems Javert by letting him go free from the barricade instead of killing him. Javert, the
determined policeman who is out to get Jean Valjean becomes overwhelmed by the generosity that the
ex convict displayed to him. Javert s overwhelmed state of being is recognized when the conflicted
man begins to struggle with the fact that he has started to admire a convict. Jean Valjean, the man who
Javert has forced to live in hiding, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was playground time, and the happy surroundings suddenly vanished as Beth menacingly
approached me. The grimace on the girl s face was the perfect representation of her feelings for me,
utter hatred and contempt. As the tall, blonde girl moved closer at a stealthy pace I prepared myself for
what was to come; the same phrase that Beth sneered at me every day on the playground at day care, I
don t like you, Graceanne! Although Beth s hurtful remark had become extremely routine, my heart
felt a sharp pain every time she approached me with that hateful grimace on her face. Usually I would
ignore the hateful remark and walk away as if I had heard nothing, but today was a different day. A
new day with redemption at the utmost center.
As Beth approached me and uttered the daily phrase I don t like you, Graceanne I immediately
responded with words that made the grimace on Beth s face vanish forever, I like you, Beth.
The redemption that Jean Valjean lavished upon Javert is extremely similar to the redemption that I
gave to Beth. The hurtful remarks that Beth hit me with every day impacted

The Medium Is the Massage Mcluhan
The medium is the message McLuhan defines the medium as any extension of our body, senses or
mind. Therefore, any instrument of change is a medium. The resulting change McLuhan refers to is
often subtle and it is this change that is the message (McLuhan, 1994). At first glance, McLuhan s
statement seems paradoxical. However, my conventional understanding of message as the content is
not how McLuhan defines it. He defines the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is our responsibility to study the effects of our technologies to prevent any detrimental unanticipated
consequences they may have on our society. Samuel Morse when he invented telegraphy, predicted
that it would make one neighborhood of the whole country. According to Postman telegraphy
destroyed the prevailing definition of information, and in doing so gave a new meaning to public
discourse. It is with telegraphy and its union with the press that the value of information changed.
Information became context Ā
ā€free and a commodity. Information was bought and sold irrespective of
its use or meaning, 1 and this is how the value of news has come to rely on its novelty, interest and
curiosity and not on its functionality (Postman, 1986). Television speaks in only one persistent voice
the voice of entertainment, (Postman, 1986).

MK-Ultra Conspiracy Essay
There is probably a whole bunch of people out there that don t know what MK ULTRA is or what it
was. They may have heard about it as a conspiracy or a myth. Theorists have spent countless of hours
trying to figure it out. MK ULTRA is a true conspiracy that conducted tests on human subjects through
certain brainwashing techniques and as of right now we do not know if the government still uses or
has those brainwashing techniques to this day, but the public believes that MK ULTRA is a part of a
3rd party malicious illuminati conspiracy, although we know about MK ULTRA through the leaked
files that escaped destruction, it s hard to make a claim that MK ULTRA still exist at this point. MK

ran their own tests of mind control. All of these projects were prior the MK ULTRA. During the late
1940 s the CIA produced and played very important roles in what was then known as Operation
PAPERCLIP, probably the biggest sub project in MK ULTRA history. This branch of MK ULTRA

countries. The three main purposes for PAPERCLIP were to prevent the Soviet and UK from getting
their hands on German technology; gain German scientific expertise and knowledge and prevent
Germany from rebuilding their strength military and scientifically wise. Another big part of MK

Ediacan Fossils Research Paper
Fossils provide scientists with so much information. While paleontologists obviously have a primary
interest in them, geologists and many other types of scientists learn from them as well. In 1947, a
geologist named Reginald C. Sprigg found impressions of jellyfish near Australia. He wrote about his
discovery in a paper and labeled them as Early Cambrian. This is a time when most groups of animals
were entering the scene . Surprisingly, he later found that they were from even before this time. The
particular ones he found were called Ediacara biota . Upon being studied by peers, they found, The
biota is now known to have existed from 600 to 540 million years ago . Ediacaran fossils are the
oldest animal fossils we have. Many scientists

Analysis Of The Noachian Flood Deluge
I am arguing that the Noachian Flood Deluge as depicted in the biblical book of Genesis is a fable,
with no basis in reality. My opponent is required to be a creationist who believes in a worldwide flood.
He can not however, just ignore problems and say that God did it. He can t used faith as a justification
for belief, and must prove it with evidence. Of course, positive claims require positive evidence, and
that is what I expect.
Meteorology and Thermodynamics
Leonard G. Soroka and Charles L. Nelson in their Physical Constraints on the Noachian Deluge
examined four separate methods for flood waters, being rain, hypothermic springs, and two types of
cometary impact. None of them work, due to excessive energy and heat.
Rainfall Model
The amount of water presently in the oceans is about 1.37 billion cubic kilometers, and to cover all the
high mountains of the earth would require 4.4 billion additional cubic kilometers or approximately 3
times the amount of water present in the oceans. Not only would this make the air unbreathable due to
it being 99.9% water vapor, atmospheric pressure being 840 times what it is now. Then take the latent
heat of vaporization, when a kilogram of water vapor condenses and 2.26 million joules of energy are
released. This is what powers thunderstorms and hurricanes. Condensing 4.4 billion cubic kilometers
would create 10^26 joules of energy, making the planet 3500 degrees C, temporarily making the
planet the second hottest object in the solar

Job Application Essay
The job application process is a long and complex thing to go through. While it is easy to think it all
culminates into that long awaited job interview, you actually have things to do even after the interview
is over. The ball is still in your hand as well and you should consider typing a few emails to take
agency of your job hunt.
A follow up email is a good idea right after the interview. It shows that you have enthusiasm for the
role you didn t just come to the interview and then forget about it and it provides you with a one last
chance of making a positive impression. In fact, the follow up email is a great way of ensuring the
hiring manager doesn t forget about you and your suitability for the role.

But you can go a bit deeper and remind them of a conversation you had or a fun point of interest you
shared. It s just about creating a more personal connection and memory of you as a person and
candidate in the interviewer s mind.
You have to remind the person of your suitability for the role
It s also a good idea to include a short reminder of your suitability for the role. You want to quickly go
over the main reason you would be a good hire. For example, if you noticed during the interview that
the hiring manager emphasised communication as the key (perhaps you asked about it from the
employer!), then you should remind them about your strong communication skills here. This can be an
example you mentioned during the interview or an achievement you ve previously received.
You have to be polite
A good follow up letter will also maintain a positive and polite tone. This includes common courtesy
in terms of the language you use it s essentially about good email etiquette. A quick reminder of a
polite language here:

Make sure to use the appropriate titles as well and don t use the first name unless the hiring manager
specifically told you to do so during the interview.

The Anatomical Structure Of Different Organelles
Analyze the anatomical structure of ten different organelles in the cell and their respective functions.
The cell s nonmembranous organelles include the cytoskeleton, microvilli, centrioles, cilia, ribosomes,
and proteasomes. Membranous organelles include the endoplasmic reticulum, the Golgi apparatus,
lysosomes, peroxisomes, and mitochondria.
Organelle Location and function
Cytoskeleton Serves as the cell s skeleton. It is an interior protein system that gives the cytoplasm
quality and adaptability. The cytoskeleton of all cells is made of microfilaments, halfway fibers, and
microtubules. Muscle cells contain these cytoskeletal parts in addition to thick fibers. The fibers and
microtubules of the cytoskeleton frame a dynamic system whose ceaseless rearrangement influences
cell shape and capacity.
Microvilli Numerous cells have little, finger formed projections of the plasma film on their uncovered
surfaces. These projections, called microvilli (solitary, microvillus), significantly increment the
surface territory of the phone presented to the extracellular environment. Likewise, they cover the
surfaces of cells that are effectively engrossing materials from the extracellular liquid, for example,
the cells coating the stomach related tract. Microvilli have broad associations with the cytoskeleton. A
center of small scale fibers hardens each microvillus and grapples it to the cytoskeleton at the terminal
web.

a thunderbolt hit as well. A thunderbolt is something that is beyond our control, a phenomenon that
one day strikes your team/business. The thunderbolt that hindered the Lakers was the injury bug. The
Lakers lost their Rookie of the Year James Worthy, the defensive anchor Bob McAdoo, and their lights

the midst of a title run. But sympathy is the junk food of the soul, it contains nothing uplifting and
ultimately is a negative emotion. A winning team prepares itself for the adversity it is certain to

Yoshitsune Villain
Yoshitsune, the leader of the Minamoto clan was one of the greatest military commanders of his
generation. Yoshitsune had a great military intelligence and conducted many battles becoming one of
the greatest samurais in Japan. In Samurai Rising (Pamela Turner) Yoshitsune portrayed as a hero and
in Of Nightingale That Weeps (Katherine Paterson), he was a villain. In these two books, the character
of Yoshitsune is different and comparable in many ways.
Yoshitsune was a young boy in Ushiwakamaru when his father died in a battle against the Taira clan.
After the death of his father, the Taira captured the retired emperor Go Shirakawa and ever since the
Minamoto was trying to retain the power to the emperor. As Yoshitsune grew up, he trained to become
a samurai and join the Minamoto to cease revenge of the Taira. He directed many battles and was seen
as a hero to the Minamoto and others becoming their military commander. In the perspective of the
Taria, Yoshitsune was seen as a War God that killed off many of their men. In Samurai Rising it stated
that Go Shirakawa and his son, Prince Mochihito was an ally to Yoshitsune and urge the Minamoto to

Amigo Brothers Text
Amigo Brothers By Piri Thomas Antonio Cruz and Felix Vargas were both seventeen years old. They
were so together in friendship that they felt themselves to be brothers. They had known each other
since childhood, growing up on the lower east side of Manhattan in the same tenement building on
Fifth Street between Avenue A and Avenue B. Antonio was fair, lean, and lanky, while Felix was dark,
short, and husky. Antonio s hair was always falling over his eyes, while Felix wore his black hair in a
natural Afro style. Each youngster had a dream of someday becoming lightweight champion of the
world. Every chance they had the boys worked out, sometimes at the Boys Club on 10th Street and

Tony. When we get into the ring, it s gotta be like we never met. We gotta be like two heavy strangers
that want the same thing, and only one can have it. You understand, don tcha? Si, I know, Tony smiled.
No pulling punches. We go all the way. Yeah, that s right. Listen, Tony. Don t you think it s a good

our heads. He held out his hand, palm upward. Deal? Deal. Felix lightly slapped open skin. Ready for
some more running? Tony asked lamely. Naw, bro. Let s cut it here. You go on. I kinda like to get
things together in my head. You ain t worried, are you? Tony asked. No way, man. Felix laughed out

Examples Of Man V Beast
Man v. Beast: Survival Instincts (Rough Draft) White Fang knew the law well: to oppress the weak
and obey the strong. (White Fang). Survival is essentially the battle of life and death or living to see
the light of another day. In order to continue through life, sacrifices are made in order to preserve one
s own life, whether it be through taking another or thievery. Such is the practice of the wild that
humans often refuse to partake, instead confining themselves within civilization so they might never
have to stain their hands with that of their brethren. However, it is human nature to gain more power
where one already has it, and humans are sent against one another in war and forced to engage in
combat in order to save themselves. Survival is one of the cruel aspects of life in which beings are
tasked with taking any means necessary in order to live, but the way one goes about it differs between
man and animals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
London was known for his devotion to the idea of naturalism, or nature s constant triumph over man
(Murphy, Donna). Being that animals are accustomed to the demands of nature, they easily adapt to
their role in the world. However, humans, who have moved from nature to a more civilized society,
have lost their way in terms of surviving in the wild. We have become so dependant on the comforts of
civilization that if it were to all be taken away from us, we would fall to nature s hands. Those who
have committed themselves to furthering their knowledge of nature, know very well the damage
nature can deal. It is these people who know their limits and usually choose not to push their luck with
obstacles they know they cannot pass. Some might call this cowardice, others may call it being too
cautious or playing on the safe side. However, playing on the safe side is not always a bad idea as seen

The Effectiveness of William Shakespeare s Use of Supernatural in the Final Act of Richard III
Richard III was written by William Shakespeare and tells the story of how Richard III wants to
become king and does everything in his power to get there by assassinating members of his family to
do so, for example, the Duke of Clarence, Lord Hastings, Lady Anne, Lord Rivers, the Duke of
Buckingham, Henry VI, Prince Edward, Prince Edward V and Prince Richard. The last Act contains
many supernatural elements such as ghosts of the people Richard III has murdered or got killed and
curses, for example, Buckingham remembering Margaret s curse, prophecies and dreams, a message
from the supernatural from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By making the play more theatrical, the audience can see the individual personalities of the characters.
For example Richard seen as a belligerent, vicious, vulgar, hideous person who wants to prove that he
is a villain.
One example of the paranormal in Act V is when Richard refers to how the ghosts make him feel
responsible: O coward conscience, how dost thou afflict me but he is able to see it differently. Also
this recalls Margaret s curse: the worm of conscience still begnaw thy soul, which meant that the
centre of his conscience would incessantly affect his soul forever. This shows that Richard is feeling
guilty, he fears the ghostly vengeance of all the people he had killed and that the curses made by the
ghosts will affect him when he goes to war. Richard is able to calm himself down: What do I fear? this
proves that he has no feeling for anyone, no conscience and is going to prove that he is a villain
despite his earlier attack of remorse.
Here, Shakespeare s use of supernatural is effectual because it reminds us of the members of family
killed by Richard to become king and is more dramatic. It is more dramatic because it shows Richard
deserves to die as his punishment and people will be punished if they commit vile things. This makes
the scene look more theatrical and stimulating, this enables the audience to see what is going on inside
Richard s head and whether we

Jazreel Kibbutz Analysis
Israel Journal Hearing the description of the Jezreel kibbutz from the fellow first phase diggers (at
times giving scary accounts of their experiences), however these could not dampen my excitement and
anticipation of my visit and work on the Tel. Although, I had read the literature on the kibbutz, when
we entered the location I was not prepared for what seemed like a little village. Our accommodations
were quite adequate and it was soon time to prepare for the next day and get to bed. Getting up early
was not a problem for me and in fact I arrived early at the bus stop for the short ride to the Tel. Once
at the Tel, we were given a history lesson and taken on a tour of the location by one of the lead

Daubert Standards Case Study
After reading the articles, I believe the Daubert standard is the best standard for Florida to move
forward with. While Frye standard and Rule 702 do have qualifications that need to be met for expert
testimony to be used, Daubert standard has in my opinion the best qualification standards that must be
met for expert testimony to be used.
Based on the articles, for expert testimony to go through in the court all a witness needed using the
Frye standard was have whatever technique, principle, or procedure be generally accepted in the
scientific community. I do not feel like this is enough qualifications in any scientific field especially in
the field of forensic science. The procedure or technique used needs to be proved reliable and can give
consistent results, not just be accepted by the community. Also, with the Frye standard no one is
checking and reviewing the witness procedure or technique to see if it s reliable, accurate, or the error
rate for it. It seems the courts just assumed what is being said or shown is correct and deemed it expert
testimony. The Frye standard was limited in the possibility of new ideas and methods since the make

By using social media this way in the classroom, students can unite with other cultures and societies to
become more aware of the world. Although many households do have access to computers, there are
some families who would prefer to communicate the old fashioned or traditional way. For those
families a class newsletter, phone call, written note or face to face communication can increase the
level of two way communication. It may also be a practical way to inform parents of future events and
classroom endeavors. Parents are busy people and being sensitive to their time is essential. Phone calls
and written communication to parents will be simple and straightforward. Also sensitivity to cultural
differences can support the goal of communicating with multicultural families. When communicating
to bilingual and multiethnic families it would be optimal for me to have the materials, whether its
notes, phone calls or newsletters translated into their native language. Since many parents are guarded
when they receive a note or phone call from their child s teacher, I will implement a plan to send home
letters of commendation and support to enhance the communication with the student s family. No
matter what type of communication is used letting parents know immediately if there are any concerns

Essay about The Roman Military Reforms institued by Gaius...
The hypothesis of this report is that the military reforms instituted by Gaius Marius ultimately paved
the way for the fall of the Roman Republic. The reforms instituted by Marius were designed as a way
to strengthen the Republic by professionalizing the Roman military, but instead resulted in long term
political consequences that contributed to the decline of the Republic and the creation of the Empire.
In this report, the decline of the republic specifically refers to the loss of the Senate s authority over
Rome s generals. From 112 106 BC, a Numidian king called Jurgurtha was engaged in a war with
Rome due to an attempt to seize power from his half brother, Adherbal. The Romans arrived due to the

As many of these new recruits did not fit in these categories, and were unable to provide their own
equipment, Marius arranged for the State to supply them with arms and armour. He then offered the
masses a permanent career as professional soldiers, and the opportunity to gain spoils on the
campaign. With little hope of gaining status in other ways, the masses flocked to join Marius. The
cause of this reform was largely due to recurring recruitment problems faced by the Roman republic,
as most soldiers were expected to return to their farms after long campaigns, but since the campaigns
were becoming increasingly longer due to the distance of the conflicts from rome, the farms were left
deserted and ruined do to prolonged absence of workers. As such, the returning soldiers found
themselves without property making them illegible for military service, thus weakening the army.
(William G. Sinnigen) As such, Marius believed these deficiencies in the Roman army recruitment
system needed urgent attention, and his solution was to offer those with nothing the ability to have
everything. Along with the new recruitment system, Marius also improved and enhanced the military
training by basing it upon those used and developed by gladiators and also abolished the three
different types of soldiers, each armed and positioned by rank and experience, with cohorts of men
universally armed and created the use of the eagle as the standard for

Protecting the Privacy of Individuals on the Internet
Over the past decade the world has gotten much smaller due to the electronic communication the
Internet has fostered. While this promotes business and international relations, problems arise

developed privacy policies and laws protect an individual s information in the realm of electronic

On a more global level, international agreements such as the International Covenant on Civil and
Political Rights and the European Convention on Human Rights protect the privacy of individuals
around the world. We see that in order to protect the fundamental privacy rights of individuals, laws
have been established on both local and global scales. Therefore, it follows that laws are also
necessary to protect the information of individuals in the electronic environment. Two types of laws
are adopted by various countries to protect the sensitive information of individuals on the web. The
first kind, comprehensive laws, are laws that govern the collection, use and dissemination of personal
information by both the public and private sectors 6. These general laws do not deal with individual
areas like health care or educational systems. Instead, they establish standards for use of private
information for all entities. Comprehensive laws are usually adopted for one of three reasons: to
remedy past injustices, to promote electronic commerce or to ensure that laws are consistent with Pan
European laws7. In addition, comprehensive laws often require the establishment of an independent
commissioner to oversee the enforcement of the law. Unfortunately, problems arise because either a

McCarthy. This very period of Murrow s life was near his resignation to live broadcasting at CBS, and
most of the events that happened in between were the cause of his leave. Essentially, Murrow took

Examples Of Anti-Hero In Inception
An anti hero can be defined as a character with a pivotal role in a story and possess traits contrasted
with those of a traditional hero. While the traditional heroic character is brave, strong, and seems to
have no flaws, anti hero character can be clumsy, unsolicited foolish, is often the embodiment of
ineptitude or bad luck and is an amalgamation of both good and evil. An anti heroic character in a
story can display a wide variety of traits while still fitting in the anti hero role. Earnes and Yusuf from
the film Inception portrays an anti hero persona in different ways, both characters are distinctively
contrasting but yet similarly alike.
Eames is a character with many talents and is a suave, smoothly attracting people easily. He also
shows his competitive spirit while gambling, however in other hand, he is also laid back. He is reliable
with his specialty which is forging, but he is somewhat of a loner, choosing to work apart from the rest

Effective Teaching Strategies for Students with...
According to Heward (2009), students with intellectual disabilities have significant limitations in both
intellectual functioning and in adaptive behavior. Learning, reasoning, and problem solving, as well as
conceptual, social, and practical skills are all areas of difficulty for these students. While students with
intellectual disabilities usually have poor memories, slow learning rates, attention problems, difficulty
generalizing what they have learned and lack of motivation, there are effective educational strategies
that teachers can use to help these students be more successful and ultimately improve their quality of
life. Heward (2009), believes that students with intellectual disabilities learn best when instruction is

All students in the study maintained the newly learned skill 2 weeks later regardless of which strategy
was used. Not only did this video show the importance of using task analysis and visual supports with
students with intellectual disabilities, but it also showed the importance of teaching for generalization
and maintenance from school to other environments. As noted by Heward (2009), community based
instruction is an excellent way for students to increase likelihood of the generalization and
maintenance of a new skill. Once simulation training is done in the classroom, teaching in the actual
setting with real stimuli helps students become more independent. It is also important that skills are
taught and practiced over and over with feedback that is, specific, immediate, positive, frequent and
differential (Heward, 2009). Another strategy that is crucial to the development of students with
intellectual disabilities is social skills instruction. According to Heward (2009), teaching students
appropriate social and interpersonal skills is essential because of their limited cognitive processing
skills, poor language development, and inappropriate behaviors. In a study by Elliot, Pring and
Bunning (2002), the effects of social skills training on adolescents with intellectual disabilities was
examined by assessing their teacher s measure of their learning and their own perception of their
learning. Kavale and Forness (1996) found that social skills

Critical Analysis Of Starkie
The adaption of character James Douglas Stark known as Starkie, a non fictional war serviceman
becomes a conflict for the omnipresence of nationalism in New Zealand literature of the 1930s. Robin
Hyde adopts a realist approach to James Mulgan s Man Alone; by developing the article Starkie
Outlaw of N.Z.E.F. into the novel Passport to Hell. Passport to Hell is used to defer from the standard
Kiwi bloke stereotype, by retelling Starkie s a man who was not typically a hero war experience.
Starkie does not fit the stereotypes of either Māori or Pākehā, allowing Hyde to go outside the terrain
of New Zealand literature s nationalism. Therefore, Starkie portrays a reality for the outsider in New
Zealand society in the 1930s. Hyde ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidently because Starkie is not a standard example of the Man Alone represented by John Mulgan,
Denis Glover and Frank Sargeson. Hyde breaks the Marxist stereotype of a heroic masculine figure in
Passport to Hell because Starkie is a character who exemplifies perversity. Hyde provoked conspiracy
simply by prevailing a realistic replication of a soldier: the soldier was not the typical heroin executed
in literature. This representation is evident in language and Starkie s interactions, with characters such
as Captain Smythe. Diction in this interaction labels Starkie as an outsider at first impression. After
one glance at Starkie s rifle, Captain Smythe told him he was a disgrace to Otago, no soldier, and a
bloody pest (Hyde, 114). Furthermore, Captain Dombey labels Starkie as the biggest, laziest, rottenest,
most troublesome (Hyde, 141) because of the associations with his skin colour and behaviour.
Although Dombey admits Starkie is one of the best soldiers he has ever had in the trenches (Hyde,
141). Hyde is clearly an example of the colonial dilemma in literature, and as a result her work never
received the attention it deserved (Bertram, 16). Critics and fellow writers saw Starkie as a formidable
rebel against NZ society (Bertram, 16), rather than worthy of appraisal through Hyde s portrayal.
Bertram ultimately exclaims that the final estimate of Hyde s merits as a writer

The Nature And The Realization Of Conversion Essay
These two major pieces, the nature and the realization of conversion are reflected in what we believe,
our theology. So Luther further reminds us Conversion changes man so that he can accept grace.
(Tappert, 1959:537.83) But not just any old kind of grace, but the grace of God! Luther put forth a
very Lutheran theological understanding of conversion, in which we are saved by grace through faith,
which is a gift to us (humankind) from God. But God does all the acting; we are just merely
beneficiaries of God s grace and mercy.
For the conversion of our corrupt will, which is nothing else than a resuscitation of it from spiritual
death, is only and solely the work of God (just as also the resuscitation in the resurrection of the body
must be ascribed to God alone), as has been fully set forth above and proved by manifest testimonies
of Holy Scripture. (Tappert, 1959:537:87)
Tappert goes on to confirm,
how God in conversion changes stubborn and unwilling into willing men through the drawing of the
Holy Ghost, and that after such conversion, in the daily exercise of repentance, the regenerate will of
man is not idle, but also cooperates in all the works of the Holy Ghost, which He does through us, has
already been sufficiently explained above. Tappert, 1959:537.88)

man does not do anything toward it and that man only suffers that which God, works in

Social media is the new generation fad and while most entrepreneurs use it to their advantage to
advertise their business, there are many more who believe it is unnecessary. According to Hubspot,
92% of marketers in 2014 claimed that social media marketing was important for their business, with
80% indicating their efforts increased traffic to their websites. And according to Social Media
Examiner, 97% of marketers are currently participating in social media but 85% of participants aren t
sure what social media tools are the best to use (DeMer, 2014). Today, social media is widely used in
online marketing and a lot of people build their businesses just sitting at home, without having to
invest in anything. However, there are still some businessmen who believe that customers will come
to them as long as their product/service is good through word of mouth. Online networking is the best
stage for uniting a brand with its forthcoming customers and an extraordinary medium for mingling
and interfacing. It additionally empowers the organization to determine client protests and offer pay, in
this way enhancing client administration. One who is not out there on online networking can t
interface with its purchasers and will fall back in the opposition. Online networking empowers
organizations to promote their item and benefits and educate its purchasers of any up and coming

Research Paper On Teddy Bear
The teddy bear was appeared in two parts of the world at about the same time. In 1903 in Germany,
Margarete Steiff made toy animals out of felt scraps in a small factory owned by her family. Her
nephew, asked her to make a bear similar to his sketches of bears at the zoo. She did not want a toy
bear to scare children, so she modified the bear s features. She used brown mohair to create a bear
whose head, arms, and legs could move independently so that the bear would be more like a real
animal and could sit or stand. He was stuffed with wood shavings and had shoe button eyes with
embroidered nose and mouth. The bear was displayed at a toy show in Germany, which caught the
attention of an American toy buyer, who ordered 3,000 bears. Now

  • 2. Negligence Is An Important Legal Principle As I was saying, negligence is an important legal principle that enables a party, who has suffered loss or damage resulting from the wrongful actions or inactions of another, to claim compensation from the party responsible for their loss; and there is no contractual relationship between the parties necessary. A successful negligence suit must have three elements present. Element one is duty of care, which means that there is a legal obligation imposed in circumstances where harm could be reasonably foreseen to occur to others. This element can be found by applying the neighbour principle established in the Donoghue v Stevenson case. The neighbour principle states that a person must take reasonable care to avoid acts or omission which you can reasonably foresee would be likely to injure your neighbour. Element two is breach of the duty of care. The plaintiff has the burden of proof to prove, on the balance of probabilities, that the defendant had a duty of care and that duty of care was breached. The third element is injury or damages suffered as a result of that breach. Now that a breach of duty of care has been proved, it is crucial to show that the breach resulted in damage or injury to the plaintiff. The defendant must be able to reasonably foresee that someone could be hurt by their actions. In the scenario the couple out for dinner, Mikaela who is anaphylactic consumed nuts from her desert even though she evidently made the waiter aware of her condition. The ... • 3. The Cholera Spread In London In The 19th Century The cholera has been the most terrifying disease spreading in London in the middle of nineteenth century, which is an infection caused by strains of the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. In the summertime of 1854 London was known as one of the most advanced and fashionable cities in the world with almost 2.5 million people living there. Because of the overpopulation, the city was having a difficult time to provide basic needs for the residents. According to Johnson (2006) the biggest existing problem within the city at that time was its lack of waste removal system. The human trash was piling up from the houses to the rivers and drinking water, which has led to the perfect conditions for a number of diseases and more precisely that is when the cholera ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After interviewing more people who had relatives died, Snow find out that many people drank water from Broad Street Pump on their way to work or school. Johnson (2006) says, Many Soho residents who lived closer to other pumps one on Rupert Street and another on Little Marlborough opted to walk an extra few blocks for the refreshing taste of Broad Street`s water. It was colder than the water found at the rival pumps; it had a pleasant hint of carbonation (p.30). He also discovered that there was not a single death recorded among the workers at Lion Brewery on Broad Street. They were rarely seen to drink water from the pump because of the liquor they received as a part of their wages (Johnson, 2006, p.142). Another important observation Snow has made is about the death of the widow Susanna Eley who used to live in Broad Street, but after a while she moved to Hampstead (Johnson, 2006, p.143). By asking her sons Snow found out that she drank the Broad Street water as she loved it taste and even more, she had it delivered to the new house. After collecting all this information Snow had strong evidence that the source of the cholera outbreak was exactly the Broad Street pump. He came up with a plan how to deal with the cholera outbreak and went to the Board of St. James Parish where he convinced the local officials that the pump ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Les Miserables Redemption Essay In the novel Les Miserables, Victor Hugo utilizes various redemptive acts to prove that redemption impacts both the redeemed and the redeemer. The theme of redemption appears countless times in the novel to emphasize the freedom, relief, and healthy change that occurs when a person is redeemed. In the novel, Jean Valjean redeems Javert by letting him go free from the barricade instead of killing him. Javert, the determined policeman who is out to get Jean Valjean becomes overwhelmed by the generosity that the ex convict displayed to him. Javert s overwhelmed state of being is recognized when the conflicted man begins to struggle with the fact that he has started to admire a convict. Jean Valjean, the man who Javert has forced to live in hiding, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was playground time, and the happy surroundings suddenly vanished as Beth menacingly approached me. The grimace on the girl s face was the perfect representation of her feelings for me, utter hatred and contempt. As the tall, blonde girl moved closer at a stealthy pace I prepared myself for what was to come; the same phrase that Beth sneered at me every day on the playground at day care, I don t like you, Graceanne! Although Beth s hurtful remark had become extremely routine, my heart felt a sharp pain every time she approached me with that hateful grimace on her face. Usually I would ignore the hateful remark and walk away as if I had heard nothing, but today was a different day. A new day with redemption at the utmost center. As Beth approached me and uttered the daily phrase I don t like you, Graceanne I immediately responded with words that made the grimace on Beth s face vanish forever, I like you, Beth. The redemption that Jean Valjean lavished upon Javert is extremely similar to the redemption that I gave to Beth. The hurtful remarks that Beth hit me with every day impacted ... The resulting change McLuhan refers to is often subtle and it is this change that is the message (McLuhan, 1994). At first glance, McLuhan s statement seems paradoxical. It is our responsibility to study the effects of our technologies to prevent any detrimental unanticipated consequences they may have on our society. Samuel Morse when he invented telegraphy, predicted that it would make one neighborhood of the whole country. According to Postman telegraphy destroyed the prevailing definition of information, and in doing so gave a new meaning to public discourse. It is with telegraphy and its union with the press that the value of information changed. Information became context Ā ā€free and a commodity. Information was bought and sold irrespective of its use or meaning, 1 and this is how the value of news has come to rely on its novelty, interest and curiosity and not on its functionality (Postman, 1986). Theorists have spent countless of hours trying to figure it out. MK ULTRA is a true conspiracy that conducted tests on human subjects through certain brainwashing techniques and as of right now we do not know if the government still uses or has those brainwashing techniques to this day, but the public believes that MK ULTRA is a part of a 3rd party malicious illuminati conspiracy, although we know about MK ULTRA through the leaked files that escaped destruction, it s hard to make a claim that MK ULTRA still exist at this point. Even the US military ran their own tests of mind control. All of these projects were prior the MK ULTRA. During the late 1940 s the CIA produced and played very important roles in what was then known as Operation PAPERCLIP, probably the biggest sub project in MK ULTRA history. This branch of MK ULTRA brought more than 1500 scientists, doctors, and engineers to America from Germany and other foreign countries. The three main purposes for PAPERCLIP were to prevent the Soviet and UK from getting their hands on German technology; gain German scientific expertise and knowledge and prevent Germany from rebuilding their strength military and scientifically wise. • 7. Ediacan Fossils Research Paper Fossils provide scientists with so much information. While paleontologists obviously have a primary interest in them, geologists and many other types of scientists learn from them as well. In 1947, a geologist named Reginald C. Sprigg found impressions of jellyfish near Australia. He wrote about his discovery in a paper and labeled them as Early Cambrian. This is a time when most groups of animals were entering the scene . Surprisingly, he later found that they were from even before this time. The particular ones he found were called Ediacara biota . Upon being studied by peers, they found, The biota is now known to have existed from 600 to 540 million years ago . Ediacaran fossils are the oldest animal fossils we have. Many scientists ... • 10. Analysis Of The Noachian Flood Deluge I am arguing that the Noachian Flood Deluge as depicted in the biblical book of Genesis is a fable, with no basis in reality. My opponent is required to be a creationist who believes in a worldwide flood. He can not however, just ignore problems and say that God did it. He can t used faith as a justification for belief, and must prove it with evidence. Of course, positive claims require positive evidence, and that is what I expect. Meteorology and Thermodynamics Leonard G. Soroka and Charles L. Nelson in their Physical Constraints on the Noachian Deluge examined four separate methods for flood waters, being rain, hypothermic springs, and two types of cometary impact. None of them work, due to excessive energy and heat. Rainfall Model The amount of water presently in the oceans is about 1.37 billion cubic kilometers, and to cover all the high mountains of the earth would require 4.4 billion additional cubic kilometers or approximately 3 times the amount of water present in the oceans. Not only would this make the air unbreathable due to it being 99.9% water vapor, atmospheric pressure being 840 times what it is now. Then take the latent heat of vaporization, when a kilogram of water vapor condenses and 2.26 million joules of energy are released. This is what powers thunderstorms and hurricanes. Condensing 4.4 billion cubic kilometers would create 10^26 joules of energy, making the planet 3500 degrees C, temporarily making the planet the second hottest object in the solar ... It s just about creating a more personal connection and memory of you as a person and candidate in the interviewer s mind. You want to quickly go over the main reason you would be a good hire. For example, if you noticed during the interview that the hiring manager emphasised communication as the key (perhaps you asked about it from the employer!), then you should remind them about your strong communication skills here. This can be an example you mentioned during the interview or an achievement you ve previously received. You have to be polite A good follow up letter will also maintain a positive and polite tone. • 13. The Anatomical Structure Of Different Organelles Analyze the anatomical structure of ten different organelles in the cell and their respective functions. The cell s nonmembranous organelles include the cytoskeleton, microvilli, centrioles, cilia, ribosomes, and proteasomes. Membranous organelles include the endoplasmic reticulum, the Golgi apparatus, lysosomes, peroxisomes, and mitochondria. Organelle Location and function Cytoskeleton Serves as the cell s skeleton. It is an interior protein system that gives the cytoplasm quality and adaptability. The cytoskeleton of all cells is made of microfilaments, halfway fibers, and microtubules. Muscle cells contain these cytoskeletal parts in addition to thick fibers. The fibers and microtubules of the cytoskeleton frame a dynamic system whose ceaseless rearrangement influences cell shape and capacity. Microvilli Numerous cells have little, finger formed projections of the plasma film on their uncovered surfaces. The Lakers lost their Rookie of the Year James Worthy, the defensive anchor Bob McAdoo, and their lights out shooter Norm Nixon. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By making the play more theatrical, the audience can see the individual personalities of the characters. One example of the paranormal in Act V is when Richard refers to how the ghosts make him feel responsible: O coward conscience, how dost thou afflict me but he is able to see it differently. Also this recalls Margaret s curse: the worm of conscience still begnaw thy soul, which meant that the centre of his conscience would incessantly affect his soul forever. This shows that Richard is feeling guilty, he fears the ghostly vengeance of all the people he had killed and that the curses made by the ghosts will affect him when he goes to war. Richard is able to calm himself down: What do I fear? this proves that he has no feeling for anyone, no conscience and is going to prove that he is a villain despite his earlier attack of remorse. Here, Shakespeare s use of supernatural is effectual because it reminds us of the members of family killed by Richard to become king and is more dramatic. It is more dramatic because it shows Richard deserves to die as his punishment and people will be punished if they commit vile things. This makes the scene look more theatrical and stimulating, this enables the audience to see what is going on inside Richard s head and whether we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While Frye standard and Rule 702 do have qualifications that need to be met for expert testimony to be used, Daubert standard has in my opinion the best qualification standards that must be met for expert testimony to be used. The reforms instituted by Marius were designed as a way to strengthen the Republic by professionalizing the Roman military, but instead resulted in long term political consequences that contributed to the decline of the Republic and the creation of the Empire. In this report, the decline of the republic specifically refers to the loss of the Senate s authority over Rome s generals. He then offered the masses a permanent career as professional soldiers, and the opportunity to gain spoils on the campaign. With little hope of gaining status in other ways, the masses flocked to join Marius. The cause of this reform was largely due to recurring recruitment problems faced by the Roman republic, as most soldiers were expected to return to their farms after long campaigns, but since the campaigns were becoming increasingly longer due to the distance of the conflicts from rome, the farms were left deserted and ruined do to prolonged absence of workers. As such, the returning soldiers found themselves without property making them illegible for military service, thus weakening the army. (William G. Sinnigen) As such, Marius believed these deficiencies in the Roman army recruitment system needed urgent attention, and his solution was to offer those with nothing the ability to have everything. Passport to Hell is used to defer from the standard Kiwi bloke stereotype, by retelling Starkie s a man who was not typically a hero war experience. Evidently because Starkie is not a standard example of the Man Alone represented by John Mulgan, Denis Glover and Frank Sargeson. Hyde breaks the Marxist stereotype of a heroic masculine figure in Passport to Hell because Starkie is a character who exemplifies perversity. Hyde provoked conspiracy simply by prevailing a realistic replication of a soldier: the soldier was not the typical heroin executed in literature. This representation is evident in language and Starkie s interactions, with characters such as Captain Smythe. Diction in this interaction labels Starkie as an outsider at first impression. After one glance at Starkie s rifle, Captain Smythe told him he was a disgrace to Otago, no soldier, and a bloody pest (Hyde, 114). Luther put forth a very Lutheran theological understanding of conversion, in which we are saved by grace through faith, which is a gift to us (humankind) from God. But God does all the acting; we are just merely beneficiaries of God s grace and mercy.
