Saddam Hussein Responsibility
Saddam Hussein is widely regarded as Iraq s most notable president, serving for nearly 24 years
as a military dictator from 1979 to 2003. In his time as President, he founded the Iraqi Ba ath
Party, led a successful war in the Iran Iraq war, as well as addressed the major illiteracy, education,
and medical problems in the country. As president he fought to combat illiteracy by providing free
education and mandating attendance for his citizens (UNESCO). The Ba ath party, a political party
that combines Arab nationalism with socialism, strived to increase middle class wealth, as well as
create a country of prosperity and innovation. Saddam Hussein had great economic intentions for
the country, but is nonetheless responsible for the deaths of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The court also considered trying Saddam for the genocide that took place against the Kurds and
other minority groups, but it becomes increasingly difficult to prove responsibility for genocide.
Without a paper trail, it becomes difficult to prove he said/she said circumstances. On the other
hand, the prosecutors brought up the principle of command responsibility that a leader knew, or
should have known, about murders taking place by forces under his command but took no action
either to prevent them or punish those involved (Simon 2006). Under Saddam s rule, over
300,000 people died almost entirely because of their ethnicity or religion (Simon 2006). Saddam s
trial took place in Iraq under the Iraqi Higher Criminal Court, a court setup by the United States
and the UK during their occupation, in which specializes in international law. Saddam was tried
under this court instead of the International Criminal Court, because his crimes against humanity
took place before 2002: the year the ICC was established. All crimes taking place before the ICC s
establishment are unable to be tried by the ICC (Simon

Sextus Empiricus
Being called a skeptic is sometimes understood and mistaken for being the wrong way of
thinking. This way of thinking is difficult to grasp especially for someone who does not know
what scepticism really means. In the article Sextus Empiricus, scepticism is defined as an ability, or
mental attitude which opposes appearances to judgements in any way whatsoever with the result of
mental suspense and state of quietude. In other words, scepticism is having doubts about an
opinion that seems not to be true. Being sceptic doesn t necessarily mean that you question
everything but instead seek to find enough reason to make an opinion true. This article begins to
discuss how a Pyrrhonian, sceptic tries to reach a state of tranquility and quietude. However
quietude cannot be achieved if a suspension of judgment exists. It is said that suspicion come from
our differences of our senses. To illustrate, an apple seems smooth, sweet and yellow. Nevertheless

He believes that the mind can remain functional without the help of a body. The situation with this
belief is that as human beings our body helps our mind function and produce thoughts just the same
as our mind sending signals for our body to move. Everything that exists is because our minds have
created their existence. Descartes doubts the idea of our senses being able to find the truth of
existence. On the other hand, Sceptics believe that the true form of an object for instance can
come from perception. In the article, there is the example that states a theory that exists will
already have an opposed theory existing as well. (Empiricus, 38) Nevertheless, a thought believed
to be true can also be wrong. Furthermore, Sceptics believe that we can never real know anything.
If knowing everything is impossible, than how will we know if the truth can be

ChikungunyaChikungunya is virus infection which is transmitted mainly by mosquitoes. This
occurs when a mosquito feeds on an infected mosquito and becomes infected itself with the virus.
From there on the people that the mosquito bites also become infected. In very rare occasions it has
also been known for a mother to transfer the virus to her newborn around the time of birth but there
have not been any cases where the virus has been transferred to a baby through breastfeeding.
Hypothetically the virus could also be transferred through blood transfusion but there have been no

Pompeii, By Janet Scott Batchler And Lee Batchler
The film that I selected for this film review is Pompeii, a 2014 historical disaster movie that was
directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and written by Janet Scott Batchler and Lee Batchler. The movie
was adapted from a 2003 book with the same title that was written by Robert Harris. I chose
Pompeii because I heard about the devastating event that took place in the ancient Roman city in
various television programs and books. As a result, I wanted to learn more about the event and the
daily life of Pompeii before the volcanic eruption occurred. I thought that watching the movie would
give me insight about Pompeii and the ancient Roman civilization. In addition, I also chose this
film because it features talented actors such as Kit Harington, Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje, Carrie
Anne Moss, and Emily Browning. The historical context of Pompeii is the eruption of Mt.
Vesuvius in 79 CE that did significant damage to the city of Pompeii and Herculaneum, a town
northwest of Pompeii. Before the eruption, Pompeii was an important and lively city filled with
thousands of inhabitants. According to Dorothy Hinshaw Patent, the author of Lost City of
Pompeii, a book that has detailed information on the city, states, Estimates of its population run
from 6,400 to 30,000 , but most experts think that between 8,000 and 12,000 people lived there
year round (Patent 14). The eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, an active volcano situated near the Bay of
Naples, occurred on August 24, 79 CE. The volcanic eruption

Justin Bieber is a Bad Role Model Essay
Justin Bieber, like most children, generally resorts to the Red Herring Fallacy as a natural go to
when he is accused of misbehaving and he is asked to justify his mischievous actions.
Unfortunately, unlike most children, Justin Bieber has to answer to more than just his parents. He
has to explain his actions to his agent, public relations representative, and his adoring fans. Rather
than accept the fault for his indiscretions, Bieber uses diversionary tactics and repeatedly explains
that he is just a kid, and he is still learning from his mistakes. Justin Bieber has proven that he is a
terrible role model for his fans when he used the Red HerringFallacy after he was criticized for
making inappropriate comments during a visit to the Anne... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Again, rather than deal with this issue directly, Justin brushed off the accusation and claimed he
was given permission from City Hall, then he fled to Paraguay to avoid getting arrested. Bieber
purposely failed to mention that the permission he was granted was actually to spray paint a
different building and not the one he deliberately chose to deface.
The Los Angeles Times reported that in January of 2014, Justin was once again in hot water
with the police, as allegations were made that Justin egged his neighbor s Calabasas mansion
and caused upwards of $20,000 in property damage. Police raided Justin s California mansion
hoping to find surveillance video that would confirm that the allegations were true (Winton Justin
Bieber Egging Case ). The investigation is still underway. Although Justin has yet to publicly
comment on the matter, friends of the pop star have said that Justin feels misunderstood, and he
really is a nice guy; he blames the media for making him seem like a bad guy. Blaming the media
instead of taking responsibility is a diversionary tactic Bieber knows all too well. He has become
quite the expert in avoiding issues and/or running from his problems. Unfortunately, Biebers
problems seem to be catching up with him as each new incident seems to progressively get worse.
Justin Bieber has exhibited multiple signs of a troubled youth, and it appears he

LIFE S THREE GREAT QUESTIONS
There are three questions that every human being, at one time or another, will think about. Some
people will give them nothing more than a passing thought during their lifetime while others will
think on them constantly. I think most people are somewhere in between, usually thinking of
them at around the times of life s major events. The three questions are: 1) Where did I come
from? 2) Why am I here? 3) Where am I going when I die (some people will phrase this question, Is
this all there is? )?
The Bible does give an answer to all three questions.
WHERE DID I COME FROM?
In general we are all created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26 27, 5:1, 9:6; 1 Corinthians 11:7;
James 3:9) but that does not fully answer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This question can only be answered by you but is answered through Christ. The Bible is
specific, there is an afterlife and heaven and hell are the only two destinations (Luke 16:19 31). If
you are thinking, I don t believe in hell or any of this stuff please read on. I am only showing what
the Bible says.
Our sin has separated all of us from God (Psalm 66:18; Isaiah 59:2). Many think there is a line in
the sand; this line may be a certain number of sins or specific sins, like murder or rape, that will
send them to hell but the truth is we are all guilty of something. It might be as small as telling a
lie, or taking a cooking out of the cookie jar when we were nine years old, but the fact remains we
are all guilty, from the murderer to the nine year old cookie thief (Romans 3:10,23).
In society, when someone commits a crime and is found guilty they are issued a fine or jail time.
When the fine is paid or the sentence is served we say the person, has paid their debt to society.
When it comes to sin the only payment God will accept for sin is sinless blood (Hebrews 9:22).
Since we have all sinned, none of us can pay our debt to God; we need someone to pay it for

Examples Of Failure
Failure. The word reverberates in my head with each stride. Thud, failure. I turn my head and
watch helplessly as a runner in a black jersey and red shorts jets past me. Thud, failure. Why can
t you move faster? Thud, failure. How are they pulling away? Thud, failure. How is KADE
almost behind you? Thud, failure. Guilt pierces my chest with an icy blade and twists as my
thoughts wash over me. How could I let my team down? Failure resonates with every person. It
seeps into our thoughts and draws us into a place of doubt impairing our natural abilities and hard
work. Yet failure is also what shapes us and molds us into the people we are now. It bonds and
unites every person together in a common shared experience while also tearing us apart inside....

I let her down when she needed a friend. I wish that I could say that Krystle is the only

failed. Like phantoms they circle over me reminding me of my failures whenever the subject
arises. I can t remember how many races I have lost when I should have won, but I can still
remember every person I have let down. It would be a gross misrepresentation to classify both
failures as the same. Each genre of failure has its own series of effects unique to it. Reflecting on
my life, I m struck by how much I still regret my failures. Conceptually, I know that my failures
had silver linings, yet I d still give anything to change them. There is little solace in the
knowledge that I won t fail the same way twice. The damage is done. My cross country team
never qualified for state and Krystle was abandoned when she needed help. Perhaps the best we

Romance In Nathaniel Hawthorne s Blithedale Romance
Nathaniel Hawthorne s Blithedale Romance, rather than being considered a novel, should be
considered with the distinction of a romance. The beginnings of the book are heavily laden with
symbols and allusions to the supernatural along with romantic interests, both characteristic of a
romance. Coverdale consistently discusses the Veiled Lady and claims Zenobia is an enchantress,
actually saying in Chapter Six that Zenobia is an enchantress! He continues, she is a sister of the
Veiled Lady! That flower in her hair is a talisman. If you were to snatch it away, she would vanish;
or be transformed into something else (45)! The presence of the supernatural is anything but
lacking in this romance. Coverdale in his narration believes Zenobia s

Conviction Is An American Drama Television
Conviction is an American drama television show that centers around a new department of the
New York County District Attorney s Office called the Conviction Integrity Unit or the CIU. The
CIU was created to reinvestigate any cases that could have been wrongfully convicted due to any
external factors. The team has four members, an Assistant District Attorney (Sam Spencer), a
former New York Police Department Detective who became District Attorney Investigator
(Maxine Bohen), a Paralegal (Tess Larson) and a Forensic Technician (Frankie Cruz). They work
under a Defense Attorney who was intimidated into the job as a result of a possible arrest because
of drug possession.
Every week, the team leader must choose a case that has been closed. They have five days to
figure out what details in the case which could have by any chance caused a false conviction of an
innocent person. They must go through past interviews, witnesses, photos of the crime scenes and
any other information that could be in the case files.
The episode that I chose was, A Simple Man, it is about how a man, Leo Scarlata, was convicted
of arson and murder. It was proven that he had a mental deficiency as the results of an IQ,
Intelligence Quotient, test his score was 70. The average score for an IQ test was 100, anything
below that score means that individual is cognitively impaired. He should not have been charged
for the crime or give the punishment that he received, but the score was not low enough.

Profit Maximization Through Innovation Technologies
Background
Agricultural industry is one of the most important industries of Uzbekistan. Agriculture sector
employs 28% of Uzbekistan s labor force and generates 24% of its GDP (Uzreport, 2006).
Therefore further development of agricultural industry in Uzbekistan is crucial for Uzbek
nation. According to UNDP within the next 20 years, the world will gain another 1.4 billion
people. Representing a 25 percent increase in global population, most of these people will live in

Innovation in agriculture and sub industries can be a key driver of poverty reduction in poor rural
economies (OECD,2010).The impact on the environment could also be major while using water
efficient technologies watering more efficiently and less wastefully. This includes drip irrigation
systems, desalination, recycling, or drought resistant plants. Such technologies already have been
applied in USA and EU countries which enable farmers to improve profitability by using less
fertilizer and pesticides, with little or no fall in yields, through the adoption of new
methods.(Gurria, 2010.) Another highlighted issue in literature is greenhouse emissions caused by
natural gas burning. Natural gas is mostly used energy type in greenhouse industry . Greenhouse gas
emissions included approximately 465,000 metric tons of CO2, 9 metric tons of CH4 and 7
metric tons of N2O in 2006 worldwide (BD, 2010). Negative impact of natural gas to environment
also another need to develop new energy saving technologies and secure new renewable energy
sources that can substitute for fossil fuels are very urgent. According to Choi (2008) energy
recovery from wastes is being internationally recognized as a reliable method to reduce greenhouse
gases which have negative influence to climate.

to the lack of sympathy the joker has on all of his victims. In the next four panels the focus is on
the Joker and how he is being treated poorly after the death of his pregnant wife. We see this
mainly in the fifth panel where the shot comes from behind the Joker allowing the reader only see

Loyalists At The Outbreak Of The Revolution Analysis
Loyalists at the Outbreak of the Revolution, 1775 1776
This article was a collection of different stories from either the colonies or the loyalist that was
living in the United States. According to my understanding, this text shows the division in America
during this period.
It illustrates how everybody felt during this time. It s a collection of different testimony from
different people. According to Gov. William Franklin, he stated that Every breach of the [English]
Constitution, whether it proceeds from the Crown or the People, is, in its Effects, equally
destructive to the Rights of both. It shows that the effect of choosing the Independence will be bad
for people. The article went further to show that people were leaving the country for their safety.

Essay On Teenage Wasteland
In the story Teenage Wasteland, Donny is kind of a dump. Donny is one of those bad kids that
gets into trouble all the time. His parents don t realise where he s going until the time when the
story takes place. His mom gets him a tutor, who lets him do kind of whatever he wants, so he
ends up getting expelled from school. The takeaway of this story is that you should try hard in
school and life. That is inseparably connected with the fact that you should not do what donny
did. Donny is a hoodlum. His grades raised only a little bit, but he was caught with alcohol. And
if that isn t enough, he took advantage of his tutor, and got himself expelled. At the beginning of
the story, the author describes Donny s personality, and physical features. It says that when he
was little, he was actually a good fun kid. Then he grew up, and became a hoodlum. He hangs
out with the wrong type of kids, and he gets into trouble now. But there is a potential good kid
inside him. He just hides it. On page 1 and 2, it says As he grew older, his hair grew darker, and
he wore it longer, past his collar even. It hung in lank taffy colored ropes around his face which

Describe The Activity Of Human Amylase
Amylase is an enzyme that is responsible for splitting up food that contain high quantities of
carbohydrates and starch into simple and smaller groups of sugar. Amylase can be found in plants,
humans, bacteria, fungi and other mammals.
Human amylase is an example of an organism that produces alpha amylase and can be found in the
pancreatic juice in the pancreas and the saliva in the mouth. Both the pancreatic juice and the saliva
play important roles in the digestive system. The amylase found in the pancreas breaks down starch
into maltose and the amylase found in the saliva breaks down starch into glucose. The activity of
human amylase is very sensitive to temperature and pH so it is very important to maintain the

Racial Predujice toward Minority Groups
Racial prejudice toward minority groups has been a problem throughout all of history. While overt
racism and prejudice may be diminished from the days of our dark past, covert racism is very
much alive. Society loves to embellish on how far the country has come in the fight against racial
prejudice by highlighting significant events such as having the first black president. Yet there are
still too many instances of subtle racism. In 2011, there were almost 700,000 incidents of stop and
frisk policing in New York. Nine out of ten of these incidents involved blacks or Hispanics,
which is ridiculous because blacks make up less than a quarter of the New York Population
(Bobo 2013). Prejudice causes unfair treatment to innocent people. Everyone should be treated the
same and given the same amount of respect. Continuing the fight towards an unprejudiced world
has so many benefits including making sure everyone feels safe and respected in society and the
possibility to learn from other ethnic groups. A world without prejudice would be a much more
effective world with more time spent on making life better for all instead of violence and hate.
Government officials and psychologists are trying to advertise how being in contact with other
ethnic groups has reduced prejudice. Many psychologists are already praising contact theory
research for its contribution toward world peace and its efforts against prejudice (Dixon, Tropp,

African American Mckinley Campaign
According to Gosnell, William Mckinley won a significant number of votes from lower and
middle class members because of the amount of Republican propaganda his campaign used.
Mckinley supported by upper class members had more capital to campaign and was able to reach
a broader audience. Candidate Bryan was only able to reach a small portion of the masses
(Gosnell, 131). William Bryan was not given any money by Democratic politicians or
newspapers, he had to take the train and was known as a tireless speaker. Mckinley on the other
hand made speeches from his front porch in Canton, where aided by his campaign manager
Hanna was able to draw in contributions (McSeveney, 177). In Shephard s article, it is pointed
out that Hanna offered free and discounted fares to Mckinley s speeches. Gosnell suggests that the
race might have gone differently if Bryan had funds as his Republican counterpart. However
according to another source, Bryan did receive lots of media coverage through his speeches and
was able to convey his message to voters (Harpine, 292).

however state legislatures created laws to deter the undesirable vote from African Americans. The
country sediment was to not have any undesirable or what they considered non American people

A Book That Is So New And Fresh On The Literary Scene
Reading a book that is so new and fresh on the literary scene that even the professor has yet to
finish reading it is something that I don t encounter very often on college courses that often
have a tendency to focus on books that are at least ten years old. In addition to this novel being
so new, it was also special in the fact that it took place in the area that we are studying it in. This
gives the class the opportunity to talk about the piece in the way that they can really relate to, and
this is only more true when the author of the book is able to come and speak with the class. So
with these things being taken into consideration, being able to read and analyze this book in this
class is definitely a notable opportunity. Reading this specific piece of creative nonfictionis a perfect
example of how much of a privilege getting a college education as a top tier university truly is. This
book is part of the longstanding American tradition of men to write about their experiences in
nature. It is important to note how important nature is in the scope of American literature. The
ability for a person the retreat into nature is what makes differentiated American life and the books
based on it from the European country that it gained independence from. This nature writingwas
revitalized by Transcendentalists such as Emerson and Thoreau who normalized the narrative of the
everyman being able to go into nature and learn about himself and the environment that he is a part
of.

The Advertisement For Campari Liquor
In the Advertisement for Campari liquor featuring Eva Mendes, there are numerous components
and employed techniques that both enhance and alter the way the audience perceives it. One of
the first aspects of this image is the way light is strategically used. In the background of the
scene, we see light peaking through a somewhat ominous over cast sky. The lack of light in
some areas of the sky gives sets the scene as mysterious and malicious. The light peeking through
the clouds however provides a sense of glory and power. Light is also used to highlight the
models skin, particularly on Mendes. This alongside with the light that is shining behind Mendes
gives her a seductive and mystical appearance. Lastly, a small sparkle of light can be seen on the
top of the bottle of Campari. This draws attention to the bottle and also pairs it with Mendes giving
it an alluring and enchanting essence as well.
Alongside with light, color also plays a subtle, yet significant role in the audience s perception of
the ad. The dress worn by Mendes is a creamy off white color. This color reflects light and
combined with the highlights on her skin gives Mendes an imperious and elegant glow. The off
white color also portrays a sense of innocence however an innocence that is not entirely pure.

The weather affects us constantly, whether rain or shine. Tropical storms and hurricanes have
been in the news a lot lately. Since I live on the Gulf of Mexico I have learned that during
hurricane season it is critical to pay attention to the weather and be prepared for a hurricane. I

didn t have an understanding of the weather. Even today with resources such as the weather
channel and local news reports we cannot prevent damage to the environment completely. We can

Fire Escape Code Summary
Fire Escape Codes Summary The paper I am doing an overview on is Fire Escape Codes In
Historic Buildings by Jeff T. Johnson. Johnson focuses on a town in Rhode Island called
Pawtucket. In 1793, America s first textile mill was built, but decades later there were 100 other
mills constructed. By the 1940 s, most of these mills were abandoned and out of shape until
Rhode Island passed it s Historic Preservation Tac Credit. The reason for this shift in the 1940 s
was because after World War II, textile mills moved south for cheaper labor. This then turned these
old mills into residential homes relying on adequate fire escapes. Then Johnson brings up Richard
Moe who is the President of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He brings up... Show more

After events such as Chicago Fire 1871, San Francisco Earthquake and fire of 1906, and the
Triangle Shirtwaist fire of 1911 which had many deaths at each one, there was a change in codes
that became more rigorous in preventing deaths and injuries in fire emergencies. Then Johnson
states that John H. Lienhard the University of Houston s College of Engineering says that mid
nineteenth century buildings were not originally built for fire safety. It wasn t until after tragic
events happened that led to fire escape, fire escapes and fire safety in general. Then in 1968,
New York banned all exterior fire escapes for new building projects because interior stairwells
were considered safer. Then Johnson brings up Vincent J. Dunn who is a retired deputy chief with
New York s fire department. Dunn notes that there are only 200,000 fire escapes that remain in the
city. Because of age and poor maintence, fire escapes susceptible to rust, corrosion and collapse.
Even with fire escapes being banned or no longer mandated in new construction, they still exist as

The Phonyboy Is A Hero In The Outsiders
THE OUTSIDERS ESSAY
A hero is someone that is not selfish, cares for others besides himself, and does things that are
really brave. A hero is a person who is admired and idealized for courage. A hero would be
someone that fights for a cause. Heroes are people who rescue others, or people that do something
that is really brave. Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally are heroes in the book The Outsiders. There are
many reasons why Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally are heroes.
Ponyboy is a hero because he went into a burning church and saved the children that were in the
the church. Ponyboy is also a hero is because he is a survivor. Ponyboy is a hero because he is
not afraid to step up. Ch.8 says a quote from johnny and it says I would, I would help her and
Randy both if I could. Hey, I said suddenly, can you see the sunset real good from the West Side?
That meant that Ponyboy has the desire to help people in problems which makes him a hero.
Another quote was in ch 4 which meant that ponyboy isn t afraid of anything and it says You
know what a Soc is? I said, my voice trembling with rage. White trash with Mustangs and madras.
And then, because I couldn t think of anything bad enough to call them, I spit at them. Heroes are

The hydrophobic anchor which holds the Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of gram negative bacteria in
the outer leaflet of the outer membrane is Lipid A. This component is produced within the bacterial
cell cytoplasm through the Lpx biosynthetic pathway (reference). Lipid A is then transported to the

essential for virulence and bacterial viability. These qualities make it an attractive drug target which
could aid in the development of inhibitors of gram negative bacteria. A recent study of the Lpx

INTRODUCTION
Antibiotics are developed for the treatment of bacterial infections due to their effective clinical
properties (Appendix Fig. 2). They are extensively utilized for the inhibition of bacterial; DNA,
RNA, proteins and cell wall synthesis (reference). However, the efficiency of treating bacterial
infections has vastly deteriorated because of the ongoing emergence of multi drug resistant
pathogens (Appendix Fig. 3 Table 1 8) (reference). The prolonged use and misuse of antibiotics
have resulted in the evolution of bacteria attaining mechanisms which, prevent antibiotics from
binding to their molecular targets (Appendix Fig. 4) (reference). Additionally, antibiotic resistance
occurs in both gram negative and gram positive bacteria. An important aspect of antimicrobial
resistance has been shown to be the presence of LPS in most gram negative bacteria (reference).
The negatively charged highly polar LPS symbolises a tenacious barrier which reduces
permeability. This barrier protects the bacterial outer membrane bilayer against hydrophobic
compounds including, the entry of antibiotics into bacterial cells (reference). There are very few
drugs which target LPS pathways. LPS signifies one of the major paramount obstacles to the
innovation of gram negative

Summary Of The Short Story The Falling Girl,TheyRe Not...
Society in a Nutshell
Beauty is determined by society and their standards. Women are told to be skinny, pretty and a
size two which puts a lot of pressure on women. The pressures of society allocate women to go
through extreme measures to fit in with society standards. This is evident in the short story The
Falling girl and They re Not Your Husband as the main characters are impacted by social
expectations, insecurity and peer pressure.
Social expectations is a significant component in people s lives, to the point where people
become obsessive over materialistic aspects in life. This creates normality for individuals and
essentially tell individuals how they should behave. There are different social expectations that
are created for the upper class and the lower class, otherwise known as social status. The two
characters Marta from The Falling Girl and Earl from They re Not Your Husband undergo
challenges that they face regarding social expectations and social status, which in turn shows
the similarities between the two short stories. Marta from The Falling Girl was influenced by
the materialistic aspects in life that she failed to realize she had so much time to grow up and
opportunities in life, but was blinded by society standards. Marta was identified as someone of
lower class, she had dreams and ambitions of being a part of an elite society. Despite all her
aspirations in life, she knew that she would never obtain this lifestyle, which ultimately lead
downfall as she wanted to be apart of society. In Buzzati words, Within it were powerful men, and
women who were even more powerful ... Seeing thesethings, Marta hopelessly leaned out over the
railing and let herself go (Buzzati 1). The passage in the short story demonstrates how influenced
Marta was by the different societal classes around her, that she was inclined to fall off the
skyscraper to become a part of society and to ultimately fit in with society. She abandoned
everything she had behind to become entertainment to the higher society. In addition, the short story
They re Not Your Husband the main protagonist Earl Ober is consumed by the society s standards,

Was Disney Justified In The Film Moana
Lately, three articles were reviewed for the film, Moana, depicting whether Disney was being
stereotypical and insensitive to the Polynesian culture. Many people think that Disney was wrong
in the depiction of the character s appearances, especially relating to the demigod character, Maui.
Disney was justified in creating the Moana filmand was not culturally insensitive to the Polynesian
people because Disney had spent 5 years just getting the characters correct by Polynesian standard,
they also looked far and hard in order to get Polynesian voice actors and songwriters, and finally,
the Disney team took the time out of their lives in order to make the setting of the movie as

Article 3 states, Clements and Musker have been making trips to the Pacific Islands including
Samoa, Tahiti, Mo orea, and Fiji. Over time they created a coalition of anthropologists,
historians, choreographers, musicians, and linguists called the Oceanic Trust. Together, this
group helped to shape Moana and keep the writing and design as authentic as possible.
Moreover, this evidence shows Disney had taken in a lot of accounts to get the setting of Moana
very similar to what Polynesian islands would look like. To add onto, the team took time out of
their lives just to go visit these foreign places, to make sure that their movie was perfect. The team
working on the Moana film not only accomplished their setting, but was able to get the Polynesian
setting so well that they even wowed the Polynesian people working on the movie. In article 1 it

Furthermore, Disney was justified in the creation of this movie because it was said by a
Polynesian person Am I still grounded and rooted in the way I want to be? And I can honestly
say I am and this is relating back to the fact that the movie was able to ground her in her culture.
To put into finality, Disney was justified in the creation of the film, Moana because of use of the

Taking a Look Inside Hallucinogens Essay
Hallucinogens: a general group of pharmacological agents that can be divided into three broad
categories: psychedelics, dissociatives, and deliriants. Hallucinogenic drugs have played a role in
civilization for thousands of year. It began with naturally occurring hallucinogens, such as the
peyote cactus plant and wild mushrooms. Now there are man made drugs that have the same or
more intense affects. These include lysergic acid diethylamide(LSD), MDMA (ecstasy), and
dextromethorphan (DMX, often found in cough syrup). Within this essay, I will cover the history,
production, and affects of hallucinogenic drugs. Peyote, a naturally produced plant, has been used

Long term affects for hallucinogens can vary. With LSD, it is believed that trips can trigger the
onset of schizophrenia or other psychological disorders. Users can also experience flashbacks,
happening as long as a year later than the original trip. The flashbacks sometimes persist,
affecting the users social and occupational life. This is known as hallucinogen induced persisting
perceptual disorder. LSD is not considered an addictive drug, since most users voluntarily stop
use over time, and it does not produce compulsive, drug seeking behavior. But, LSD does produce
tolerance. After using the drug only a few times, users must take increasingly higher doses to reach
the same high. This is very dangerous, given the drugs unpredictability. Let s talk specifics: LSD.
Lysergic acid diethylamide was first synthesized by Albert Hofman in Switzerland, 1938. He didn

years later. In 1943, Hofman accidently ingested the substance and discovered its potency. Rewind

Waste Segregator Chapter 1
I. Introduction
Since the human being lived in this world, different kinds of waste were produced continuously. In
the early years, the common wastes produced were biodegradable. There are no major problems
with this since it will decompose over time. As the number of population increases and new
inventions were made, the kind of waste produced by humans also increases. Some of these wastes
include plastics, glass, metal, papers and many more. Some of waste scattered in the surroundings
are recyclable. But due to improper waste management, these are not optimized.
In the current generation, different manual systems are starting to be automated. Waste
management was also starting to follow the trend. In other countries, there are automated ... Show

Whereas the crude methods of sorting wastes practiced may be efficient, it wastes useful time;
hence the need for a mechanized sorting machine. An attempt has been made to develop a waste
sorting machine, which is conceptualized to sort wastes into light materials, ferrous metals and
other heavy materials. The waste sorting machine consists of a hopper through which the waste is
fed through; a fan and air channel through which the light weight materials are separated from the
waste matrix; a belt conveyor which carries the left waste towards a magnet fitted shaft/pulley
which separates ferrous metals and also chambers into which the separated components of the
waste fall. The machine is designed with the major components being the fan, the belt conveyor
and the magnet. Tests carried out on the machine successfully classified wastes into light
materials and heavy materials with inability to sort ferrous metals. Samples of wastes tested
weighed 1.15kg and 3.53kg. The wastes consisted of an average of 32% of light materials and the

Moonlight Film Analysis
Moonlight is an American drama film that chronicles the life of African American male Chiron,
who is being raised by a careless mother in a harsh Miami neighbourhood. Its most prominent
themes are love, stereotypes and identity. The filmmakers create meaning from these through
combining different elements of aesthetics (the style or look of a motion picture). Aesthetic effect
refers to the practise of using different elements of a film(mise en scene, sound, cinematography and
editing) to generate film form.
Moonlight creates aesthetic effects to convey to the spectator that successful parents do not always
need to be a child s biological ones, which links to the key theme of love. An example of this is in
the sequence where Juan and Chiron swim in the ocean. Juan is represented as a great role
model for Chiron, and the sort of parenting he has always desired, as his mother is a drug addict
and clearly very irresponsible. Cinematography is utilised to denote this ideology to the
spectator. For instance, the use of close ups of the two characters place emphasis on Juan s size
over Chiron, thus establishing a sense of authority on his part over the former, which creates his
representation as a father figure. The waves wash over the spectator to make it seem as if they are
a part of the scene, and aid them in comprehending Chiron s feelings. The inclusion of the pair
swimming and particularly Juan holding Chiron in the way he does in the narrative is to mimic a
baby s baptism.

Individuality In Brave New World
Samay Patel
Ms. Schmidt
Honors English IV Section 2
7 December 2015
The main conflict in Brave New World is individuality versus social stability. The notion of Brave
New World is that one must give up their individuality and fulfill their role in the society for the
greater good which is social stability. The totalitarian government in the novel controls every aspect
of the id, superego, and ego. Aldous Huxley distinguishes each of his characters from the other to
portray the different levels of individuality they display. Through the psychoanalytical perspective,
it is interpreted that the World State dominated the characters throughout the novel. However,
Bernard and John Savage show the readers the individuality aspect of the society ... Show more

Although this society is built with unity as stability, it lacks and deprives humans of their happiness
and freedom. All principles of humanity are disregarded and encountered by the Brave New World
society. The society created in Brave New World is everything Huxley did not want the world to
become. Bernard and John the Savage are a direct representation of Huxley. First of all, it is
obvious that Bernard does not fit into the society he lives in. Throughout the novel, Bernard is
shown different from the other Alphas. He possesses low self esteem because he is not able to
engage with females as easily as the other Alphas can, especially in a society where, everyone
belongs to everyone else. Bernard s alienation is a result of mockery from others and his self
pity. His physical disabilities take a toll on him and his insecurities are overtly seen. His self pity
and insecurities are handled by him abstaining from soma and dealing with the emotions he feels.
Bernard s disabilities have a direct effect on his personality. Too little bone and brawn had isolated
Bernard from his fellow men, and the sense of this apartness, being, by all the current standards, a

Outline Discuss the Function of Families in Contemporary...
Outline discuss the function of families in contemporary UK society
The definition of the term family has somewhat gone through radical changes over the past few
decades in the UK, some 30 years ago a family was defined as being father, mother and children.
Some referred to this as the cereal box family as this was typically the type of family to be shown
on television commercials for cereal. This stereotype is more correctly known as the nuclear family,
however changes over the years has meant that this nuclear family is no longer a typical family
type within the UK. This has proven difficult for sociologists to provide a clear definition or
generalisation of the term family and such difficulties will be explored throughout ... Show more

The Marxist viewpoint on the family revolves around a capitalist society and believes that the
nuclear family is not a functionally necessary institution, although it is probably the best suited.
However, Marxists believe that the family bases itself upon private property and profit, whereby
men marry and then have children to pass on their profit to and women simply marry the men for
financial security. Together, Marxist feminists also revolve their viewpoint around a capitalist
society but focus more on the woman s role, rather than heirs and profit. They believe that the
woman s primary role is based within the home and therefore can be exploited as a source of cheap
labour because she is dependant on that of her husband s income. The woman, they believe, is a
housewife doing home chores to increase the father s ability to work and thus delivering more to
society. Also, by nurturing and teaching their children to become the next viable source of workers
in the future, the woman is helping society and saving on capitalisation costs. This therefore lays a
foundation for their children to be obedient later in life, punctual and altogether submit to their boss
in later life, without the need for society training these conformities, thus having cost nothing to the
capitalist.
Other reasons suggest that the nuclear family is no longer suited or even the most frequent

Fahrenheit 451
Megan Wright Mr. Owens English 9 14 April 2013 Rough Draft #1 451 degrees Fahrenheit is the
temperature at which book paper catches fire, and burns (Lenhoff). In Fahrenheit 451, Ray
Bradbury is trying to teach the reader about the dangers of books and history as seen in
characters, symbols, and events. Bradbury s novel is about a future American society where books
are outlawed and firemen are told they have to burn any house that has books in it. Books are
banned because they contain contradictory ideas and can confront the comfortable prejudices and
ignorance that abounds (Zacharias). Beatty is the chief at the firehouse. Fahrenheit 451 describes a

The hearth, or fireplace, is a traditional symbol of the home (Sparknotes Editors). The salamander
is one of the official symbols of the firemen (Sparknotes Editors). Firemen also name their fire
trucks after the salamander (Sparknotes Editors). Both of these symbols involve fire which is a
big part of Montag s life. The hearth contains the fire that heats his home and the salamander
because they believed that salamanders live in fire and are unable to burn. The Sieve and the
Sand, comes from Montag s childhood memory of trying to fill a sieve with sand on the beach to
get a dime from a mischievous cousin and crying at the futility of the task (Sparknotes Editors).
Montag compares this memory to his attempt to read the whole Bible as quickly as possible on the
subway in the hope that, if he reads fast enough, some of the material will stay in his memory
(Sparknotes Editors). The sand is a symbol of the tangible truth Montag seeks, and the sieve is a
symbol of the human mind seeking a truth that remains elusive and, the metaphor suggests,
impossible to grasp in any permanent way (Sparknotes

What Is Freud s View On Religion
Freud was a 20th century neurologist and seen as the father of psychoanalysis. His views regarding
religion reflect his profound emphasis on research of the human mind as a tool of illusory means.
His views are seen in many of his books and essays, for example Obsessive Actions and Religious
Practices published in 1907. In this he suggests that both religion and neurosis are similar products
of the human mind. Insofar as neurosis compulsive behaviour predicate is an individual religiosity
and religion, which can observe repetitive rituals, is a universal obsessional neurosis .
However simply stating that Freud s view on religion regards Neurosis would be a gross mis
understatement of his works. In the Future of an Illusion published in 1927, Freud refers to religion
as an illusion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He hopes that in the future science will go beyond religion, and reason will replace faith in God .
Furthermore Freud argued that his notion of the Oedipal conflict argues the Child s desire for the

mother. All major Western religions are seen to glorify a submission to a father god. Insofar as
mediating the acceptance of interdiction and of the reality principle . Therefore they bridge desire
and law.
Freud also emphasized guilt as having a fundamental role in ones psyche. Mainly operating
unconsciously. Freud subscribes to a contemporary anthropological theory of his time in that the
origin of guilt was a murder of the primal father. Which, according to Freud is the missing link
explaining the functioning of the aforementioned interdiction in our actions. Therefore it is the

Buffa s Dance Studio Analysis
Anyone who has heard of the show Dance Moms, may cringe at the statement, I ve grown up in a
dance studio. However, I can attest to the fallacy of that sentiment.
When I was eight years old, I enrolled in my first of countless dance classes at Buffa s Dance
Studio. Eight years later, the studio director offered me a job. This opportunity soon developed
into far more than the typical employment available to teenagers. Working side by side the studio
owner, I spent copious hours reorganizing the studio, teaching classes, and developing
innumerable spreadsheets to allow for easy tracking of the myriad details: annual registration of
500+ dancers, orders for thousands of costumes and the production of six recitals, complete with
lighting, sound, and special effects. In addition to working for the studio, I assisted in the yearly
production of The Nutcracker performances, staged through their non profit organization, Burke
Civic Ballet. The first several months of the year were dedicated to hours spent at weekly
rehearsals, as well as hundreds of hours planning fundraising events, organizing parent volunteers,
and developing a thirty page program to be used at the weekend s performance. ... Show more

numerous accounts of the United States going against it s own beliefs and treating it s people in

The government was not only scared of a future attack but also the government feared the

American lifestyle. The Japanese did speak a different language and did believe in a different
religion. They ate different foods and played different games. Many did strive to enjoy the ways
of American culture as well, I grew up playing hopscotch and jacks, learning kendo and ikebana. I
studied U.S. history at school and Japanese on Saturday. For breakfast I ate scrambled eggs and
mochi. Dinner could include fried chicken and sushi, (11). The Japanese strived to be both but the
government devastatingly didn t understand. The government feared the different culture and
beliefs and their possibilities they had for the country. Most Japanese were highly productive,
successful people in whatever work they pursued. As a result they became the brunt of some non
Japanese people s fears, envy and prejudice. The war provided the excuse for removing the Japanese
from the West Coast and to eliminate competition and literally take over whatever gains the
Japanese had made, (92). Placing the Japanese Americans into interment camps proved the

business we were to be in. Next, we would find sources of information concerning the local
economy and market. It was determined that we could use the internet and local business leaders
to assist us in gaining the necessary information. For our next step we would conduct a traffic

Analysis Of Exelon ( Rivastigmine Tartrate )
Exelon (Rivastigmine Tartrate) is a hydrogen tartrate salt of Rivastigmine that acts as a reversible
cholinesterase inhibitor. As a cholinesterase, it is administered in an increasing amount over a set
period of time. Through the inactivation of butyrlcholinesterase and acetylcholinesterase, Exelon
prevents the breakdown of the chemical acetylcholine which is thought to be important in
memory, thinking, and reasoning. Due to these capabilities, it is frequently employed to combat
the effects of dementia due to Alzheimer s and Parkinson s diseases where patients tend to have a
lower concentration of acetylcholine. Rivastigmine is also under evaluation in clinical trials as a
treatment for cocaine dependence. It can be employed both orally and as a transdermal patch. The
patch is more popular due to fewer side effects. In addition, Exelon has a size of about 250Da per
moleculeНѕ this is small relative to the benchmark of 500Da for transdermal transfer. Its small
size combined with its lipophillic and hydrophilic nature makes it ideal for topical administration.
Rivastigmine has a halflife of about 1.5 hours and when taken in a transdermal patch, it has a lag
phase of between 0.5 and 1 hour. When taken orally, it has a bioavailability that is linear until
about 3mg at 40%. It then follows a nonlinear pharmacokinetic model, as its bioavailability will
increase with an increase in dosageНѕ when administered via transdermal patch, approximately

Frida Kahlo Biography Essay
Frida Kahlo
Frida Kahlo did not originally aspire to become a painter. Her goal in life was to become a doctor
but a tragic bus accident at 18 left her physically and mentally scarred for life. During her months of
recovery, Frida began to take painting seriously, to combat the boredom and pain, as she felt that
she still had enough energy to do something other than study to become a doctor and without giving
it any particular thought she started painting. This was the beginning of a life long career. Part from
art classes in high school and looking at a few books from her fathers collection, Frida had
received no formal training in the arts. As she developed her artistic skills, she created her own
unique styles, which was heavily influenced by a number of things.

A characteristic that Frida took from the 19th century Mexican Portraits is the inscribed banderole

Ronald Ron/Ronnie Smith was born on March 26th, 1936. As a kid, Ronnie partook in many

On rainy days he would play Chinese checkers and play with a little metal car he still has today.
He went through elementary school with no thought of what he was doing or studying. Ron
dedicated his life to Christ at twelve years old and remembers going to church every Sunday and

As a kid, Ron s economic situation was in the lower class system. As he says, we were dirt poor

examples of mistreatment is that in Silver Water Rose is pulled from her halfway home and is

  • 2. Saddam Hussein Responsibility Saddam Hussein is widely regarded as Iraq s most notable president, serving for nearly 24 years as a military dictator from 1979 to 2003. In his time as President, he founded the Iraqi Ba ath Party, led a successful war in the Iran Iraq war, as well as addressed the major illiteracy, education, and medical problems in the country. As president he fought to combat illiteracy by providing free education and mandating attendance for his citizens (UNESCO). The Ba ath party, a political party that combines Arab nationalism with socialism, strived to increase middle class wealth, as well as create a country of prosperity and innovation. Saddam Hussein had great economic intentions for the country, but is nonetheless responsible for the deaths of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The court also considered trying Saddam for the genocide that took place against the Kurds and other minority groups, but it becomes increasingly difficult to prove responsibility for genocide. Without a paper trail, it becomes difficult to prove he said/she said circumstances. On the other hand, the prosecutors brought up the principle of command responsibility that a leader knew, or should have known, about murders taking place by forces under his command but took no action either to prevent them or punish those involved (Simon 2006). Under Saddam s rule, over 300,000 people died almost entirely because of their ethnicity or religion (Simon 2006). Saddam s trial took place in Iraq under the Iraqi Higher Criminal Court, a court setup by the United States and the UK during their occupation, in which specializes in international law. Saddam was tried under this court instead of the International Criminal Court, because his crimes against humanity took place before 2002: the year the ICC was established. All crimes taking place before the ICC s establishment are unable to be tried by the ICC (Simon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Sextus Empiricus Being called a skeptic is sometimes understood and mistaken for being the wrong way of thinking. This way of thinking is difficult to grasp especially for someone who does not know what scepticism really means. In the article Sextus Empiricus, scepticism is defined as an ability, or mental attitude which opposes appearances to judgements in any way whatsoever with the result of mental suspense and state of quietude. In other words, scepticism is having doubts about an opinion that seems not to be true. Being sceptic doesn t necessarily mean that you question everything but instead seek to find enough reason to make an opinion true. This article begins to discuss how a Pyrrhonian, sceptic tries to reach a state of tranquility and quietude. However quietude cannot be achieved if a suspension of judgment exists. It is said that suspicion come from our differences of our senses. To illustrate, an apple seems smooth, sweet and yellow. Nevertheless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He believes that the mind can remain functional without the help of a body. The situation with this belief is that as human beings our body helps our mind function and produce thoughts just the same as our mind sending signals for our body to move. Everything that exists is because our minds have created their existence. Descartes doubts the idea of our senses being able to find the truth of existence. On the other hand, Sceptics believe that the true form of an object for instance can come from perception. In the article, there is the example that states a theory that exists will already have an opposed theory existing as well. (Empiricus, 38) Nevertheless, a thought believed to be true can also be wrong. Furthermore, Sceptics believe that we can never real know anything. If knowing everything is impossible, than how will we know if the truth can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Pompeii, By Janet Scott Batchler And Lee Batchler The film that I selected for this film review is Pompeii, a 2014 historical disaster movie that was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and written by Janet Scott Batchler and Lee Batchler. The movie was adapted from a 2003 book with the same title that was written by Robert Harris. I chose Pompeii because I heard about the devastating event that took place in the ancient Roman city in various television programs and books. As a result, I wanted to learn more about the event and the daily life of Pompeii before the volcanic eruption occurred. I thought that watching the movie would give me insight about Pompeii and the ancient Roman civilization. In addition, I also chose this film because it features talented actors such as Kit Harington, Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje, Carrie Anne Moss, and Emily Browning. The historical context of Pompeii is the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 CE that did significant damage to the city of Pompeii and Herculaneum, a town northwest of Pompeii. Before the eruption, Pompeii was an important and lively city filled with thousands of inhabitants. According to Dorothy Hinshaw Patent, the author of Lost City of Pompeii, a book that has detailed information on the city, states, Estimates of its population run from 6,400 to 30,000 , but most experts think that between 8,000 and 12,000 people lived there year round (Patent 14). The eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, an active volcano situated near the Bay of Naples, occurred on August 24, 79 CE. The volcanic eruption ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Justin Bieber is a Bad Role Model Essay Justin Bieber, like most children, generally resorts to the Red Herring Fallacy as a natural go to when he is accused of misbehaving and he is asked to justify his mischievous actions. Unfortunately, unlike most children, Justin Bieber has to answer to more than just his parents. He has to explain his actions to his agent, public relations representative, and his adoring fans. Rather than accept the fault for his indiscretions, Bieber uses diversionary tactics and repeatedly explains that he is just a kid, and he is still learning from his mistakes. Bieber purposely failed to mention that the permission he was granted was actually to spray paint a different building and not the one he deliberately chose to deface. The Los Angeles Times reported that in January of 2014, Justin was once again in hot water with the police, as allegations were made that Justin egged his neighbor s Calabasas mansion and caused upwards of $20,000 in property damage. Police raided Justin s California mansion hoping to find surveillance video that would confirm that the allegations were true (Winton Justin Bieber Egging Case ). The investigation is still underway. Although Justin has yet to publicly comment on the matter, friends of the pop star have said that Justin feels misunderstood, and he really is a nice guy; he blames the media for making him seem like a bad guy. Blaming the media instead of taking responsibility is a diversionary tactic Bieber knows all too well. He has become quite the expert in avoiding issues and/or running from his problems. • 7. Ephesians 1-3 LIFE S THREE GREAT QUESTIONS There are three questions that every human being, at one time or another, will think about. Some people will give them nothing more than a passing thought during their lifetime while others will think on them constantly. I think most people are somewhere in between, usually thinking of them at around the times of life s major events. The three questions are: 1) Where did I come from? 2) Why am I here? 3) Where am I going when I die (some people will phrase this question, Is this all there is? )? The Bible does give an answer to all three questions. WHERE DID I COME FROM? This question can only be answered by you but is answered through Christ. The Bible is specific, there is an afterlife and heaven and hell are the only two destinations (Luke 16:19 31). If you are thinking, I don t believe in hell or any of this stuff please read on. I am only showing what the Bible says. Our sin has separated all of us from God (Psalm 66:18; Isaiah 59:2). Many think there is a line in the sand; this line may be a certain number of sins or specific sins, like murder or rape, that will send them to hell but the truth is we are all guilty of something. It might be as small as telling a lie, or taking a cooking out of the cookie jar when we were nine years old, but the fact remains we are all guilty, from the murderer to the nine year old cookie thief (Romans 3:10,23). In society, when someone commits a crime and is found guilty they are issued a fine or jail time. When the fine is paid or the sentence is served we say the person, has paid their debt to society. When it comes to sin the only payment God will accept for sin is sinless blood (Hebrews 9:22). Since we have all sinned, none of us can pay our debt to God; we need someone to pay it for ... Loyalists At The Outbreak Of The Revolution Analysis Loyalists at the Outbreak of the Revolution, 1775 1776 This article was a collection of different stories from either the colonies or the loyalist that was living in the United States. According to my understanding, this text shows the division in America during this period. It illustrates how everybody felt during this time. It s a collection of different testimony from different people. According to Gov. William Franklin, he stated that Every breach of the [English] Constitution, whether it proceeds from the Crown or the People, is, in its Effects, equally destructive to the Rights of both. His parents don t realise where he s going until the time when the story takes place. His mom gets him a tutor, who lets him do kind of whatever he wants, so he ends up getting expelled from school. The takeaway of this story is that you should try hard in school and life. That is inseparably connected with the fact that you should not do what donny did. Donny is a hoodlum. His grades raised only a little bit, but he was caught with alcohol. And if that isn t enough, he took advantage of his tutor, and got himself expelled. At the beginning of the story, the author describes Donny s personality, and physical features. It says that when he was little, he was actually a good fun kid. Then he grew up, and became a hoodlum. He hangs out with the wrong type of kids, and he gets into trouble now. But there is a potential good kid inside him. He just hides it. On page 1 and 2, it says As he grew older, his hair grew darker, and he wore it longer, past his collar even. There had been a locker check, and in Donny s locker they found five cans of beer and half a pack of cigarettes. With Donny s previous record, this offense meant expulsion. • 20. Racial Predujice toward Minority Groups Racial prejudice toward minority groups has been a problem throughout all of history. While overt racism and prejudice may be diminished from the days of our dark past, covert racism is very much alive. Society loves to embellish on how far the country has come in the fight against racial prejudice by highlighting significant events such as having the first black president. Yet there are still too many instances of subtle racism. In 2011, there were almost 700,000 incidents of stop and frisk policing in New York. Nine out of ten of these incidents involved blacks or Hispanics, which is ridiculous because blacks make up less than a quarter of the New York Population (Bobo 2013). Prejudice causes unfair treatment to innocent people. Everyone should be treated the same and given the same amount of respect. Continuing the fight towards an unprejudiced world has so many benefits including making sure everyone feels safe and respected in society and the possibility to learn from other ethnic groups. A world without prejudice would be a much more effective world with more time spent on making life better for all instead of violence and hate. Government officials and psychologists are trying to advertise how being in contact with other ethnic groups has reduced prejudice. Many psychologists are already praising contact theory research for its contribution toward world peace and its efforts against prejudice (Dixon, Tropp, Durrheim, and Tredoux 2010). Mckinley on the other hand made speeches from his front porch in Canton, where aided by his campaign manager Hanna was able to draw in contributions (McSeveney, 177). By the 1940 s, most of these mills were abandoned and out of shape until Rhode Island passed it s Historic Preservation Tac Credit. The reason for this shift in the 1940 s was because after World War II, textile mills moved south for cheaper labor. The hydrophobic anchor which holds the Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of gram negative bacteria in the outer leaflet of the outer membrane is Lipid A. Lipid A is then transported to the outer membrane (OM) via the Lpt biosynthetic pathway (reference). Lipid A is highly conserved, essential for virulence and bacterial viability. These qualities make it an attractive drug target which could aid in the development of inhibitors of gram negative bacteria. However, the efficiency of treating bacterial infections has vastly deteriorated because of the ongoing emergence of multi drug resistant pathogens (Appendix Fig. 3 Table 1 8) (reference). To add onto, the team took time out of their lives just to go visit these foreign places, to make sure that their movie was perfect. The team working on the Moana film not only accomplished their setting, but was able to get the Polynesian setting so well that they even wowed the Polynesian people working on the movie. In article 1 it states, They are making a film inspired by my culture, the culture I had lived every day of my life and that is something incredibly special for the rest of the world to see, Auli l says... Am I still grounded and rooted in the way I want to be? And I can honestly say yes. Moreover, this explains that Disney was able to get the reaction that they wanted from a Polynesian audience. Furthermore, Disney was justified in the creation of this movie because it was said by a Polynesian person Am I still grounded and rooted in the way I want to be? And I can honestly say I am and this is relating back to the fact that the movie was able to ground her in her culture. To put into finality, Disney was justified in the creation of the film, Moana because of use of the time that was taken out of their lives in order to get this movie ... • 39. Taking a Look Inside Hallucinogens Essay Hallucinogens: a general group of pharmacological agents that can be divided into three broad categories: psychedelics, dissociatives, and deliriants. Hallucinogenic drugs have played a role in civilization for thousands of year. It began with naturally occurring hallucinogens, such as the peyote cactus plant and wild mushrooms. Now there are man made drugs that have the same or more intense affects. These include lysergic acid diethylamide(LSD), MDMA (ecstasy), and dextromethorphan (DMX, often found in cough syrup). Within this essay, I will cover the history, production, and affects of hallucinogenic drugs. Peyote, a naturally produced plant, has been used as a hallucinogen since as early as 200 AD. With LSD, it is believed that trips can trigger the onset of schizophrenia or other psychological disorders. Users can also experience flashbacks, happening as long as a year later than the original trip. The flashbacks sometimes persist, affecting the users social and occupational life. This is known as hallucinogen induced persisting perceptual disorder. LSD is not considered an addictive drug, since most users voluntarily stop use over time, and it does not produce compulsive, drug seeking behavior. But, LSD does produce tolerance. After using the drug only a few times, users must take increasingly higher doses to reach the same high. This is very dangerous, given the drugs unpredictability. Let s talk specifics: LSD. Lysergic acid diethylamide was first synthesized by Albert Hofman in Switzerland, 1938. He didn t originally find anything interesting about the substance, but changed his mind about it a few years later. In 1943, Hofman accidently ingested the substance and discovered its potency. In the early years, the common wastes produced were biodegradable. There are no major problems with this since it will decompose over time. As the number of population increases and new inventions were made, the kind of waste produced by humans also increases. Some of these wastes include plastics, glass, metal, papers and many more. • 41. Moonlight Film Analysis Moonlight is an American drama film that chronicles the life of African American male Chiron, who is being raised by a careless mother in a harsh Miami neighbourhood. Its most prominent themes are love, stereotypes and identity. The filmmakers create meaning from these through combining different elements of aesthetics (the style or look of a motion picture). Aesthetic effect refers to the practise of using different elements of a film(mise en scene, sound, cinematography and editing) to generate film form. Moonlight creates aesthetic effects to convey to the spectator that successful parents do not always need to be a child s biological ones, which links to the key theme of love. An example of this is in the sequence where Juan and Chiron swim in the ocean. Juan is represented as a great role model for Chiron, and the sort of parenting he has always desired, as his mother is a drug addict and clearly very irresponsible. Cinematography is utilised to denote this ideology to the spectator. For instance, the use of close ups of the two characters place emphasis on Juan s size over Chiron, thus establishing a sense of authority on his part over the former, which creates his representation as a father figure. The waves wash over the spectator to make it seem as if they are a part of the scene, and aid them in comprehending Chiron s feelings. The inclusion of the pair swimming and particularly Juan holding Chiron in the way he does in the narrative is to mimic a baby s baptism. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the novel, Bernard is shown different from the other Alphas. Outline discuss the function of families in contemporary UK society The definition of the term family has somewhat gone through radical changes over the past few decades in the UK, some 30 years ago a family was defined as being father, mother and children. Some referred to this as the cereal box family as this was typically the type of family to be shown on television commercials for cereal. This stereotype is more correctly known as the nuclear family, however changes over the years has meant that this nuclear family is no longer a typical family type within the UK. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Marxist viewpoint on the family revolves around a capitalist society and believes that the nuclear family is not a functionally necessary institution, although it is probably the best suited. However, Marxists believe that the family bases itself upon private property and profit, whereby men marry and then have children to pass on their profit to and women simply marry the men for financial security. Together, Marxist feminists also revolve their viewpoint around a capitalist society but focus more on the woman s role, rather than heirs and profit. They believe that the woman s primary role is based within the home and therefore can be exploited as a source of cheap labour because she is dependant on that of her husband s income. The woman, they believe, is a housewife doing home chores to increase the father s ability to work and thus delivering more to society. Also, by nurturing and teaching their children to become the next viable source of workers in the future, the woman is helping society and saving on capitalisation costs. This therefore lays a foundation for their children to be obedient later in life, punctual and altogether submit to their boss in later life, without the need for society training these conformities, thus having cost nothing to the capitalist. As a cholinesterase, it is administered in an increasing amount over a set period of time. Through the inactivation of butyrlcholinesterase and acetylcholinesterase, Exelon prevents the breakdown of the chemical acetylcholine which is thought to be important in memory, thinking, and reasoning. Due to these capabilities, it is frequently employed to combat the effects of dementia due to Alzheimer s and Parkinson s diseases where patients tend to have a lower concentration of acetylcholine. Rivastigmine is also under evaluation in clinical trials as a treatment for cocaine dependence. It can be employed both orally and as a transdermal patch. The patch is more popular due to fewer side effects. In addition, Exelon has a size of about 250Da per moleculeНѕ this is small relative to the benchmark of 500Da for transdermal transfer. Its small size combined with its lipophillic and hydrophilic nature makes it ideal for topical administration.
