Importance Of Cultural Norms And Practices In Business
establishes their rituals and justifies what are their norms and values. Businesses wanting to expand to
different nations must take into account the countries culture and values in order to produce and
manufacture products and services according to the norms of their society, and ensure their culture is
respected and preserved in the way the products are marketed and manufactured. The products must
be available and accessible without concerns of dissing religion and aspects of their culture and way
of life.
Businesses can take advantage in a developing country through specialisation, which is producing
products custom made and specifically catered to a certain culture which is similar in various
countries. Businesses will have to overcome language barriers, learn about others religion, receive
advice from local experts of the country and become familiar to the people s behaviour, customs and
aesthetics to properly and appropriately distribute its products
Specialisation can be see through Dr Matthew McDougall investing into the Chinese Market, and
became the founder of DaigouSales. Dr McDougall had found that Chinese students and immigrants
were purchasing Australian products through family and friends of their hometown. They began
exporting products of interest and learnt new ways to do business in China. They became aware of the
Chinese culture and the way their customers were updated on the latest fashion trends and therefore
marketed their products successfully. Their

Immanuel Kant s Uninable Peace
In 1795, Immanuel Kant a German philosopher wrote an essay titled perpetual peace: a philosophical
sketch where he lays down rubrics that define the general nature of states as political entities and how
state structures and external policies should be reformed to ensure lasting peace. Over a century later,
the proposal he made in this essay have been linked to traits and theories in modern day society like
the democratic peace theory that states that democratic nations don t fight one another, and the
cosmopolitan theory which is used to explain the unprecedented rise in regional organizations. So far,
the EU is considered as the most successful regional organization that has managed to achieve peace
and cooperation even amongst countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first definitive article states that the civil constitution of every state shall be republican (Kant,
1795). However, while questioning whether only republican constitutions can bring about peace, he
reasoned that since power will be constituted in the people, they would least likely to resort to war
than if it were an authoritarian regime. While noting that with this explanation, the citizens who hold
power can be described as despotic, Christian Covell in his book on the law of nations in political
thought noted that Kant indicated that international peace is dependent on the transformation of
domestic policies. He further linked this proposal to just war theory especially in relation to jus ad
bellum because Kant acknowledged that states need some sort of authorization to go to war. He stated
that the form of constitution is presented as a decisive factor in determining if the lawful authority of
states to wage war would ever be exercised (Covell, 2009). Still, Lars Erik Cederman in his article on
modelling democratic peace as a Kantian selection process , noted that this proposal was flawed in the
sense that the spread of norms that bring progress don t have to stop at democratic borders. According
to Cederman, once the spread of progress begins, the rule of law creeps into interstate, or more
precisely inter democratic,

The Israel-Palestine Conflict
2) Hamas won legislative elections but lost the presidential election and it is the president who
conducts negotiations. The reason was the electorate s disgruntlement with Fatah s corruption. Perhaps
that is also a component of its failure to make peace? ME Public opinion polls among Palestinians
consistently show high levels of support for the two state solution, which averaged 82 87% in 2000

security reasons. Palestinians supported ongoing attacks against Israel not to overthrow the
government or take over the country and drive out the Jews, or because of irrational hatred of Jews

Examples Of Compromise Dbq
Compromise Essay To what extent was the United States from 1774 1865 an example of successful
compromise? Compromises are a very important part of American History. The Three Fifths
Compromise of 1787 is one of many. To whom it may concern, America was a huge example of
Compromise. To quote Kenneth C. Davis, We wouldn t be here as a country without that...
Washington D.C as a city wouldn t exist without compromise (Doc. J). The 3 ways America was
successful with Compromise from 1774 1865 were with Amendments, Slavery, and The Constitution.
To begin, Amendments are a form of successful compromise because it s a group decision. Everyone
needs to agree on the choice of correction. If the people who created the Amendments didn t agree, we
wouldn t have them today. This proves they were a success. George Washington urged congress in his
first inaugural address to propose amendments that offered a reference for the characteristic rights of
freemen and a regard for public harmony. (Doc. B) The harmony in this quote is saying that the public
should live in agreement with each other. Thomas Jefferson, the U.S minister to France at the time,
wrote James Madison that he was concerned about the omission, of a bill of rights ... providing clearly
for freedom of religion, freedom of the press, protection against standing armies, and restrictions
against monopolies(Doc. B). This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Purnell s Cultural Assessment Model Essay
Purnell s Cultural Assessment Model Paper
Purnell s Model for Cultural Competencies is represented by a circle. The perimeter of the circle is
made up of three different layers, each representing something different. The outer layer represents the
global society; the middle layer represents the individual s family and the inner layer of the perimeter
represents the individual. The center of the circle is divided up into twelve different categories, which
look like slices of a pie. Each of these categories represents part of one of the 12 different cultural
domains. The very center of the circle, inside the pie slices is a small black circle, this represents all
the unknown information about the individual (Dayer Berenson, 2014).

Essay on Opposites Attract in Antony and Cleopatra
Opposites Attract in Antony and Cleopatra
William Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra is a play that is centred around a pair of historical lovers
from two distinct cultures, Mark Antony from Rome and Queen Cleopatra from Egypt. The Roman
and Egyptian cultures have vastly different norms and social ideas that are almost complete polar
opposites in nature. These conflicting views are instrumental in the way that Cleopatra and Antony
act. These two characters are so great in their respective societies that they serve as models to look to,
although Antony may not be everybody s perfect vision of what a Roman should be. It is also
important to look at not only what these two characters think of their cultures, but what cultural ...

In addition to this way of designating the two title characters, Anne Barton has compiled a list of
expressions used to describe Cleopatra and Antony. She first discusses references to Antony:
In the course of the tragedy, Antony is called the noble Antony, the courteous Antony, the firm Roman,
Mars, a mine of bounty, the triple pillar of the world, the demi atlas of this earth, the lord of lords, of
infinite virtue, the crown o the earth, and the garland of the war. These are only a few of the
celebratory epithets. He is also poor Antony, a libertine, the abstract of all faults that all men follow, a
gorgon, a sworder, an old ruffian, a doting mallard, the ne er lust wearied Antony, and a strumpet s
fool. (47) All of the honorific titles given to Antony suggest to the audience that he is indeed more
than a mortal man. Even in the titles given to Antony that are less than respectful, he is still seen as
something other than an average human being. Being called a gorgon , for example, would not make
Antony seem like a hero, but he would still be seen as something more than human. Many times a
description of Antony will include the word the , implying that he alone is this great, and has no
counterpart.
Cleopatra is also more than a simple mortal human in the role of the Queen of Egypt, as she is
constantly referred to as the personification of Egypt. She even refers to herself in the same way. The

ranging from elementary schools all the way to college and professional sports teams. In fact Over

Hydrogen Energy In Long Beach
As you go throughout your day, you use energy many times. Turning on the lights, using the toaster,
taking the bus to school, all examples of using energy. Slowly, the fossil fuels that we are burning to
get this energy are harming the environment. Hydrogen energy and biofuels would bring many
benefits to Long Beach, California because of how well they work together. Long Beach is the perfect
place for these 2 energy sources because Hydrogen Energy requires the city using to to have a
Hydrogen Fueling station, which Long Beach does (afdc.energy.gov). It needs to have a lot of land,
which Long Beach has. And since Southern California works for both Hydrogen and Biofuels, it
would be the ideal spot. Hydrogen is nontoxic, which means it poses no threat to humans, and its very
efficient so it won t need as much. Also, biofuels are environmentally friendly, and they are cheap. ...

Some of the disadvantages are that it s very expensive, its difficult to store and transport, and its

are great for countries with little to no oil reserves, but the United States, and specifically California,
have a good sized oil reserve. However, it costs about the same as gasoline, which helps since
Hydrogen is very expensive. Also biofuels are renewable. For example, fossil fuels aren t renewable,
so they expire and turn into smoke. But biofuels are mostly made us of waste from crops and plants,
so they can be replanted time and time

Analysis Of The Book Young Goodman Brown And The...
Nathaniel Hawthorne and Washington Irving are two of the most prolific and successful writers of
their era. Hawthorne s, Young Goodman Brown is a story about a man, Goodman Brown who happens
to set out on a trip for an evil purpose. On the way he meets a man who offers him his staff, saying
that it might help him walk faster, but Goodman Brown refuses and wishes to return back to his
village for the sake of his wife, Faith. On the other hand, Irving s, The Devil and Tom Walker is about
an individual who lets his greed and selfishness take charge of him. Tom Walker, a greedy man,
attempts to make a deal with a devil. Tom seeks wealth and in return the devil asks for his soul. In
both stories, the authors express their feelings and views about staying away from indulgence and sin.
In spite of all the difference among Hawthorne s, Young Goodman Brown and Irving s, The Devil and
Tom Walker, they share salient similarities such as setting, symbolism, and author s purpose.
To begin with, Hawthorne and Irving portray a similar use of setting in their works of literature. Both
authors illustrate a gloomy setting which takes place in remote areas of Massachusetts around the
same period of time. For instance, The Devil and Tom Walker takes place in a historical area settled by
Quakers and Puritans where religion and virtue is widespread among the people. However, much of
the setting of the narrative takes place in a deep inlet winding several miles into the Charles Bay,

A Fallen Monument By William Faulkner
A Fallen Monument
William Faulkner was born September 25, 1897, in Oxford, Mississippi. After living there for most of
his life, he later moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, where he was a writer in the residence at the
University of Virginia. Faulkner published 19 novels and more than 75 short stories between 1926 and
1962. Faulkner is known best for some of his ground breaking novels: The Sound and the Fury; As I
Lay Dying; Light in August; Absalom, Absalom! and Go Down, Moses. Like the novels, the majority
of Faulkner s stories were set in the South. Particularly in Yoknapatawpha County, there he invented
fictional black and white characters. His major fictional families include the Sartoris, Snopes, De
Spain, Compson, Sutpen, McCaslin, and Carothers (The Facts on File Companion to American Short
Story). The characters appeared multiple times carefully outlining their family histories throughout
Faulkner s canon. The majority of his stories were in the country he resided. He made use of myths,
legends, themes, situations and characters; repeatedly experimenting with these and other techniques.
Critic James G. Watson brings forth a key point by deepening the meaning in Faulkner s short stories
by stating these stories do more than entertain, they explain the world. These stories broaden our view
of history, people of different regions, and overall of humanity. A significant fact about Faulkner s
story collection is that he envisioned them contrapuntally that is, he

The Effects Of Television On Television Messages

History
George Gerbner, in 1976, founded the Cultural Indicators project, which estimated that the average

alarmed about the baneful effects of TV that he describes them in terms of fascism.

Although there may be potential benefits from viewing some television shows, such as the promotion
of positive aspects of social behavior (e.g., manners, friendship, cooperation, altruism, etc.), many
adverse health conditions can also result.
Respondents for this study were viewers and nonviewers from all regions of the United States. 430
individuals respondents were recruited through the national media to take an online survey. Because
television free individuals comprise a very small percentage of the general population, advertisements
were made in national media establishments likely to attract participants who do not watch television.
These establishments included a large nationally syndicated popular magazine and the web site for the
TV Turnoff Network. Survey respondents were divided into three groups: (a) television free, (b)
viewers who watch in accordance with AAP recommendations and (c) frequent viewers (over two
hours per day).
Hammermeister found that television free individuals show a stronger association with enhanced
psychosocial health profiles than members of the moderate viewing group (i.e., the group following
AAP guidelines) was not supported for men or women. Watching television less than two hours per
day provides the same relation with psychosocial health as being television free in this sample. This is
consistent with cultivation studies examining behavioral effects of television viewing and

European Relations With Native Americans

European Relations with Native Americans
As the Europeans arrived on American shores, they encountered a variety of native peoples.
Some were living in advanced civilizations; others were living as simple hunter gatherer cultures.
By the time of the first European contact, in 1492, European settlers interacted with the native peoples
in different ways. The Spanish ruled the natives as conquered people, forcing many to work on
agricultural estates. The French developed a harmonious relationship with the natives. The English
approach fell somewhere between the two polar European powers.
The Spanish settled in present day Mexico and Peru; they encountered the advanced civilizations of
the Aztec and Inca Empires. After diseases wiped out most of the native population, millions survived.
The Spanish incorporated the survivors as laborers for their own empire. Eventually, after forced
labor, the survivors died from exhaustion. Few Spanish families settled the empire so the group of
explorers and soldiers intermarried with the natives. After enslaving indigenous peoples in the
Caribbean and the southern parts of the Americas to grow crops and mine for gold, silver, and other
valuables, the Spanish moved into North America where they concentrated their efforts in what is now
the southwestern and southeastern United States. In present day Florida, Spain established a military
post at San Augustín, but only a small

Analysis Of Diane Di Prima s Howl
The third part of Howl takes on a more redemptive tone than the previous two sections. In this section,
the poet identifies with the victims of Moloch s destructive influence. The refrain of I m with you in
Rockland, emphasizes that a supportive community among the minds destroyed by madness, can be
achieved. This is clear as after each refrain, the poem alludes to an experience which could be
considered traumatic. This community, composed of support, love, and resistance, can revive a feeling
of normalcy and sanity for those affected by the Moloch, and within American culture as a whole.
These communities can take a multitude of forms, including grassroots organizations, social groups,
friends, neighbors, and romantic relationships. This notion of creating normalcy for an individual
affected by a destructive force is exemplified in Memoirs of a Beatnik. Memoirs of a Beatnik is a Beat
work written by Diane Di Prima in 1969. The novel follows Di Prima s sensual and intellectual
coming of age story. Known best for its frequent accounts of explicit encounters, Di Prima described
her experience as a woman in a literary movement dominated by men, and how her sexual
relationships played a crucial role in her life. Throughout her many sexual encounters, Di Prima takes

Going back over the Goophered Grapevine and Po Sandy in The Conjure Tales of Charles W.
Chesnutt, I want to unfold the message Chesnutt is portraying through particular characters in these
stories. Is the message the critics see, the same as the reader? I feel like Chesnutt contradicts himself
in the conjure tales. By this I mean that he comes off to the reader as one thing, but he is interpreted by
literary critics as something else. I think the reason that Chesnutt s work seems contradictory is
because he has many voices throughout the stories and it is hard for the reader to distinguish which
voice belongs to Chesnutt. Should these stories be looked upon as mere entertainment or as something
else? According to Richard E. Baldwin, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
William Andrews saw that Chesnutt used the old time Negro model to create Uncle Julius (Chesnutt,
378). Looking at the Goophered Grapevine, one of the main characters, Julius, is seen as being a
trickster. He seems to lie in order to fulfill his own desires. The author is reaffirming the stereotypes of
blacks by using the character in this manner. Which is, they are liars and they will do anything to
achieve what they need or want. This is how the old slave was exploited. Although they were faithful
in years they were portrayed as willing to steal or kill to get what they needed. The reader is not
sympathetic with Julius in the two stories. The other two main characters are John, the narrator, and
his wife Annie. According to Duncan, John and Julius negotiate a new... relationship between two
previously isolated American voices: the black and the white, the rich and the poor, the North and the
South (Duncan, 78). John and his wife represent two sides of the white community; those who hold
the beliefs of the plantation school and those that are sympathetic with the Negro and their condition
(slavery, post slavery). It appears that Chesnutt made the narrator a white male for a reason. This is
done in order to articulate expressions of doubt [which] make him a suitable proxy for both the wary

shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected
to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. This
act has been one the most controversial and most scrutinized amendments to be passed in years and it
has never been re evaluated. It has done a lot during its years by increasing womens sports at all levels

If say you have a division 3 school, with 5500 students, 3000 men and 2500 women. The idea that the
school is going to be able to have at least 75% of those students show or give interest towards a
certain sport or a certain inter mural game, is very hard to actually accomplish. The idea that also, the
underrepresented gender must have the ability to play the game is also very difficult to judge. I guess
if a team can not win a game all season but has double the amount of interest than spots available on
the team, maybe that would or would not require equal funding. I think this prong test of compliance
needs to be re evaluated. Another issue that I think needs to be taken into effect is football. There is no
sport or club, male or female, that can equal the same amount of funding needed for a football team
and even created by a football team. Some smaller division 2 and 3 schools will even have a JV and
Freshman football team along with their traveling varsity program. The amount of money that division
1 football programs bring in for the school is amazing. Just the amount of men that it takes to fill up a
football roster will keep prong 2 alive. As long as there is a big football program, women will need to
have continual expansion of sports, or the teams already in place, which will in turn, have the loss of
smaller, not as popular, men s sports being dropped. There has been over 300 men s

Art is used as a way to express oneself and share stories or emotions with others. Every person goes
through a swing of emotions and events throughout their life. Everyone chooses a different way to
deal with these event and emotions. Some may not feel comfortable expressing themselves and keep
to themselves, while others may be very outspoken. For artist they portray this emotion in their works.
Among artists they also each have their own way of expressing themselves. Each artist has their own
preference and paint in different styles. Every piece of art is different in its own way. No two artists

The bright colors could represent the great outcome if the republicans were to win. The wine in the

The bread make me think of all the poor people effected by the war and thats most likely all they were
able to afford to eat. The fruit with the fork in it is a more complex. Spain has some regions that are
completely dependent on agriculture. With a war taking place, farms and lively hoods would be
destroyed. I believe the fruit symbolizes all the agriculture that was lost during the war. The shoe was
the most symbolic to me because I believe it can represent various things. It can represent the soldiers
who fought for what they believed in. It could also be all the families and civilians that were forced to
move out of Spain because of the war. Lastly the Spanish civil war was known as a battleground for
ideologies of people from all over the world. The shoe can also represent all the people from all

Relationship Between Tian And Human
The relationship between Tian and human When it comes to Tian , most Chinese people regard it as
nature or heaven, but there are much more different cognition advocated by traditional Chinese
philosophers. For instance, Mencius believes that Heaven is an absolute ruler and it is the destiny,
which human is unable to change in any case. (A.T.Nuyen 2013) On the contrary, Xun zi thinks that
nature runs automatically and regularly. In order to live a life of happiness and richness, people are
supposed to actively make an efficient use of it. (Chan 1963) Apart from these two concept mentioned
above, Zhuang zi put forward another completely different idea. He suggests that human and nature

what heaven managed for them as they were asked, and they were also told not to change anything.
No matter what kind of unfair things they were suffering, they were convinced to follow the fate
because that was heaven s word. Although both of Mencius and Xun zi acquired knowledge from
Confucian school, they were not in agreement on Tian . In Spring and Autumn period, Xun zi held the
opinion that heaven ran regularly and it did not exist or cease to exist for the sake of anybody. (Chan
1963) What s more, Xun zi thought that human could try to analyzing the regularity of heaven. Once
people mastered it, they would gain greatly. They could play an active role in their live and make a use
of the regularity for the benefit of human beings. (Janghee 2005) Compared to Mencius and Xun zi,
Zhuang zi has a totally different idea about Tian . Zhuang zi thinks that heaven and human, as well as
Dao are interlinked. To some degree, they roll into one. And there is an interesting story about Zhuang
zi. One day he had a dream of himself becoming a butterfly and when he woke up, he could not figure
out whether the butterfly dreamed about him or he dreamed about a butterfly. What Zhuang zi really
wants to tell us through this story is that human is supposed to live with nature peacefully and

The Traditional Family And Social Development Of The...
A snapshot of the classic yet desired white family of the 1950 s: a pale skinned man with a pressed tie
and shiny dress shoes, enjoys the pancakes and eggs his slender and sweet wife had prepared for him
before work. The gentle figure leans to kiss her children who hustle to catch the school bus, a full
lunch box in each hand and new toys for show and tell. However, this depiction of the traditional
american family has been greatly modified. In her family history course, Stephanie Coontz asked her
students to illustrate their own concept of a traditional or perfect family. Unsurprisingly, the
predominating result was the stereotypical nuclear family, consisting of only father, mother, and
children. This had once been culturally correct, but beginning in the mid 1900 s, the ideal American
family has changed immensely with social development. Although the traditional family still exists in
several households across the nation, the majority of families are far from the initial standards.
A monumental change to the traditional American family came in 2015 when same sex marriage was
legalized. This momentous step to ensure the acceptance and rights of ranging sexualities had not only
enhanced the quality of life for same sex couples, but also transformed the iconic household. Now that
gays all across the nation were granted their right to marry, it was no longer necessarily husband and
wife but the classic couple could be wife and wife or husband and husband . This

Besides all the complex questions I have, regarding the unanimous decision by the trial I am in favor
of the court. Ruling Nixon of just impeachment in my opinion is a mere slap on the wrist. If you are
illegally tapping and tampering with government property you shouldn t be aloud to be President.
Richard Nixon not wanting to hand over the tapes made him look even guiltier. His excuse of him
with holding the tapes being part of his executive privilege was a brilliant move with procrastinating
the case, was it really part of it though. The president s executive privilege has been used throughout
history many times, the first president of the United States George Washington used (an earlier illegal
way; unestablished) it to not hand over documents requested by congressional members after the
defeat of our ARmy against Native Indians. Dwight D. Eisenhower used an unestablished version to
prevent the Communist Hunting Committee access to transcripts between Army Officials and
Administration Officials. Ronald Reagan used it three times in his 4 year term once making him and
his staff available for congressional scrutiny. Bill clinton rumored to have exercised this privilege
fourteen times; most notably during the Monica Lewinsky Sex Scandal. Clinton would then be under

increase the sales and therefore profit.
The human resources department monitors performance of the employees and makes sure they are
well trained for their job. They provide training for the staff, for each sector they work in, which will
help them to do their job more easily and successfully. If an employee doesn t do their job right, they
could fire them and recruit another person to fill their space. Also they make sure that they fill up
work for people on holiday or sick. This is to make sure that the work that needs to be done is not
affected by people being on holiday etc. Another thing that human resources in Marks and Spencer s
do, is that they make sure there is the required number of staff on each shop floor to keep the business
run smoothly and provide the right customer service. This has been successful because there is always
available staff to help on the shop floor, which means the customer service is improved therefore sales
increase because customers keep coming back to the store and this increases profit.

A Comparison of Corrupt Kings in Shakespeare s Henry IV...
A successful monarchy relies upon a stable leader who is concerned with the satisfaction of those he
rules over. Henry Bolingbroke the IV in Shakespeare s Henry the IV Part I follows a trend set by his
predecessor in Richard II of self indulgence and neglect of his kingdom. These leaders worry about
the possibility of losing their kingdom or their soldiers to other nobles who were also concerned more
with obtaining a higher position rather than governing. The king must also be wary of his own life,
something that was once revered and guarded closely by other nobles. Wars once fought for gaining or
protecting land are overshadowed by personal battles fighting for the position of king.
Henry proved himself a powerful and fearless leader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, Gaunt would not have been much more satisfied with Richard s replacement, Henry.
Raising a child is always a challenging and time consuming task, and raising a prince is even more
difficult. Henry puts his leadership aside to focus his efforts upon preventing Prince Hal from absolute
corruption or even betrayal. Hal enjoys the company of an unruly thief, the drunkard John Falstaff, as
well as several other less respectable persons. Henry is more realistic and rational than Richard, and
he is able to see that his position is not a good one. He may fear that he is a bad example for his son,
for he too was a robber when he stole the throne. He fears that his son will ruin his image as king or
even assist in overthrowing him;
Why, Harry, do I tell thee of my foes, / Which are my nearest and dearest enemy? / Thou that art like
enough, through vassal fear, / Base inclination, and the start of the spleen, / To fight against me under
Percy s pay, / to dog his hells, and curtys at his frowns, / To show how much thou art degenerate.
(Henry, III, ii, 127 133).

he again puts his responsibilities as king aside to assist his son in battling personal foes. Hal becomes
the prodigal son; however, the

The International Financial Reporting Standards
There have been plenty of debates surrounding the two type standards; on one side we have the United
States General Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP) which has always been used until now with
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). A committee of accountants from the American
Institute of Accountants (AIA) created the first set of US GAAP standards in the 1930s. US GAAP is a
set of guidelines made to help publicly traded companies create their financial statements. The
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) serves a similar purpose, but has been globally
accepted. European companies first adopted IFRS in 2005, and by 2012 countries such as Japan,
Canada, and India had done the same. Since early 2010, FASB and IASB have been working together
to converge both of these accounting standards. The SEC has been on board, and although they have
not been successful yet, a Work Plan has been developed which lays out factors, which need to be
considered before transitioning into a new reporting system. The main topic for this paper is pension
and how both differ from GAAP and IFRS. In the research, it will mainly geared towards pension plan
and the benefits that differ between the U.S GAAP and IFRS. Through the research the main
information comes from the income statement of the company to identify the difference.

The Four Values Of Leadership
People ask the difference between a leader and a boss. The leader leads and the boss drives Theodore
Roosevelt. What does it mean to be a leader? What defines a good leader? History has taught us many
things about leadership. Good Leadership can be the difference between winning a war and losing a
war. Even in everyday life, a good leader is capable of achieving much greater things than a normal
person. But leadership is a powerful tool that can be used both for the good of mankind and its
downfall. Leadership is the ability of an individual or and organisation, to influence other individuals
and its team to achieve a desired outcome. Influence is a very under rated aspect of leadership. No
individual would follow a person who does not have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ability to self reflect is as crucial as any. A leader should always evaluate himself and his values
time to time. This make him more aware of his strengths and weaknesses and allows him to adapt to
any scenario. Being able to reflect enable leader to remember past experiences and gain quality
insights into themselves. This will aid the decision making process a leader goes through. The next
value that Harry Jensen Kramer Jr talk about is the need for balance. A leader may have his own set of
values and opinions of a situation. But it should not obstruct his ability to see the same situation from
another point of view. A good leader accepts that there are always different perspective to consider in a
given situation. Many leaders tend to be headstrong in their mind set that only their opinion matters.
Anyone who does not believe in his opinion is just challenging his authority. This is a clear case of an
ego issue. The open mindedness opens room for god communication between the leader and his
followers. This develops trust and respect within an organisation. But it is also necessary to filter out
the good opinions from the bad ones. As a leader, you must decide which is important for the
organisation and not take all suggestion without due thought just to appease the teams. Doing that
makes you the follower and it you will always lose credibility as a

The Ethics Of Computer Forensics
In a world where technology is increasingly becoming the way of life, it was only a matter of time
before crime was no longer just in the streets but happening online as well. Criminals now get a new
approach to carry out their crimes with the use of computers. Since technology is more like a murder
mystery than catching the bad guy in the act, a new discipline of forensics needed to be put into place.
This is known as computer forensics. Forensic science is any science used for the purpose of law. In
the case of computer forensics it is the discipline that combines elements of law and computer science
to collect and analyze data from computer systems, networks, wireless communications, and storage
devices in a way that is admissible as evidence in a court of law (U.S. Cert, 2008). Meaning if you do
something illegal on the Internet it can be found. Since the widespread use of computers, computer
crime has caused an increase in computer investigations during the twenty first century. Some reasons
for investigation include: identity theft, such as stolen social security and credit card numbers, to find
evidence of a cheating spouse, to investigate hackers on a computer system, to find evidence of child
pornography, and much more.
History of Computer Forensics
The 1970s were when military investigators first started finding instances of computer related criminal
activity and needed a more comprehensive approach for solving these technical crimes. These first

Life of the Buddha
Buddhism arose in northern India in the 6th century BCE. The historical founder of Buddhism,
Siddharta Gautama (c.560 480 BCE) was born in a village called Lumbini into a warrior tribe called
the Sakyas (from where he derived the title Sakyamuni, meaning Sage of the Sakyas ). According to
tradition Gautama s father, Suddhodana was the king of a small principality based on the town of
Kapilavastu. His mother, Queen Maya, died seven days after Gautama s birth. Following the death of
Maya, Suddhodana married Maya s sister, Prajapati, by whom Gautama was brought up in great

In the third he identified the four noble truths: the universality of suffering, the cause of suffering
through selfish desire, the solution to suffering and the way to overcome suffering. This final point is
called the Noble Eightfold Path, this being eight steps consisting of wisdom (right views, right
intention) ethics (right speech, right action, right livelihood), mental discipline (right effort, right
mindfulness, right concentration), which ultimately lead to liberation from the source of suffering.
Although initially hesitant to share his insight on the grounds that humanity might not be ready for
such a teaching, the Buddha decided to communicate his discovery to those willing to listen. His first
converts were the five ascetics with whom he had lived when he himself followed the lifestyle of the
ascetic. To these he preached his first sermon in the Deer Park at Benares, outlining to them the Four
Noble Truths. Out of this small group the community of monks (or sangha) grew to about sixty in size
and included Buddha s cousin, Ananda, and his son, Rahula. Later the Buddha was persuaded by his
step mother and cousin to accept women into the sangha.
The remaining forty five years of the Buddha s life were spent journeying around the plain of the
Ganges, teaching and receiving visitors. At the age of 79 the Buddha fell seriously ill and died. During

The Big Thirst By Charles Fishman
In the book The Big Thirst, Charles Fishman addresses the key issues of how water is abused in areas,
like Las Vegas, and the era of easy water is over. Fishman explains where the largest amount of water
is located and water s presence in space. His book is mainly composed of case studies showing how
water in certain areas, like Las Vegas and India, has been dwindling and the absence of preparation in
those places when the water is almost gone. Lastly, he talks about the misconceptions of tap water and
the lack of understanding communities and people in power have about the future of water. Fishman
wants the reader to be crystal clear on how water has come to this point, the issues of water shortages,
and the solutions to water problems. In general, people think that the largest amount of fresh water is
stored in ice caps but this is false. Fishman explains that most of the water on Earth exists in a fourth
form, not ice, liquid, or vapor, but it exists as molecular water. This abundance of water is locked in
the rock of the Earth s mantle, about 255 miles deep. Unfortunately, this water is almost totally
inaccessible to the people on Earth. Steven Jacobsen, a geophysicist at Northwestern University,
explains to Fishman that the water in the rocks is not like the water that comes out of the tap. Jacobsen
says, If you release the pressure and temperature, the hydrogen and the OH come out as water

Maria Theresa, the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI, was the last ruler of the House of
Habsburg. Prior to Theresa s birth, in 1700 Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I and Archdukes Joseph
and Charles of Austria signed the Mutual Pact of Succession, giving the eldest son s daughters a
higher position in the line of succession. After Emperor Leopold I and Joseph I died, Archduke
Charles of Austria ascended the throne. As the last male heir of the Habsburg Empire, Charles VI
issued the Pragmatic Sanction of 1713. With this, Charles VI s nieces were placed behind his
daughters in the line of succession. Though Prince Eugene of Savoy, Charles VI s advisor, urged
against the sanction, in favor of expanding the Austrian military and treasury, Charles VI secured the
sanction, leaving Austria bankrupted. As the heir of the bankrupt state, Maria Theresa would face great
losses in the War of the Austrian Succession and Seven Years War as a result of Austria s
impoverished state.

death, Duke Francis Stephen was elected Holy Roman Emperor and Theresa became Holy Roman
Empress in September 1745. As Holy Roman Empress, Theresa was forced to relinquish Silesia to
Prussia as the Treaty of Breslau was signed in December 1745. Conflict continued throughout Italy
and the Netherlands for the following three years. Finally, with the Treat of Aix La Chapelle, the War
of the Austrian Succession ended, leaving Silesia under Prussian and relinquishing the Duchy of

The Meaning Of The Persistence Of Memory By Salvador Dali
I remember the painting The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali that I could see in one of my
textbooks back then when I was in Poland taking a history class. I really enjoyed the painting, even
though I did not really know what the meaning of the painting was. Now, I got motivated to write a
research paper about the piece of art, and to answer the question what the meaning of The Persistence
of Memory by Salvador Dali is. The painting was created in 1931. Salvador Dali was a Spanish
surrealist. Surrealism was a movement in the culture that introduced new techniques of creating visual
arts. Surrealism was concentrated on people imagination, dreams, subconscious and unconscious
minds on the nonphysical aspects of a human s body. Surrealists often created their works using dream
imagery. Symbols played an important role in the art of surrealism. Symbols expressed ideas and
emotions that were held by the authors of the visual arts, and they usually had hidden meanings.
Salvador Dali was passionate about the intangible parts of people minds and lives. (Stanley Meisler,
pp.16 17) The main desire of the Salvador Dali s painting titled The Persistence of Memory was to
express the power of people memories with the respect to the passing time. However, the painting The
Persistence of Memory has other significant meanings. Some art scholars strongly emphasize that
there is a correlation between the painting of Salvador Dali and the General Theory of Relativity by

Immanuel Kant s Uninable Peace In 1795, Immanuel Kant a German philosopher wrote an essay titled perpetual peace: a philosophical sketch where he lays down rubrics that define the general nature of states as political entities and how state structures and external policies should be reformed to ensure lasting peace. Over a century later, the proposal he made in this essay have been linked to traits and theories in modern day society like the democratic peace theory that states that democratic nations don t fight one another, and the cosmopolitan theory which is used to explain the unprecedented rise in regional organizations. The first definitive article states that the civil constitution of every state shall be republican (Kant, 1795). However, while questioning whether only republican constitutions can bring about peace, he reasoned that since power will be constituted in the people, they would least likely to resort to war than if it were an authoritarian regime. While noting that with this explanation, the citizens who hold power can be described as despotic, Christian Covell in his book on the law of nations in political thought noted that Kant indicated that international peace is dependent on the transformation of domestic policies. He further linked this proposal to just war theory especially in relation to jus ad bellum because Kant acknowledged that states need some sort of authorization to go to war. He stated that the form of constitution is presented as a decisive factor in determining if the lawful authority of states to wage war would ever be exercised (Covell, 2009). Still, Lars Erik Cederman in his article on modelling democratic peace as a Kantian selection process , noted that this proposal was flawed in the sense that the spread of norms that bring progress don t have to stop at democratic borders. The reason was the electorate s disgruntlement with Fatah s corruption. Perhaps that is also a component of its failure to make peace? ME Public opinion polls among Palestinians consistently show high levels of support for the two state solution, which averaged 82 87% in 2000 07, while 73 77% favored reconciliation between the two peoples and 66 71% joint economic ventures between an Israeli and Palestinian state (Dowty, p. 190). The Three Fifths Compromise of 1787 is one of many. To whom it may concern, America was a huge example of Compromise. To quote Kenneth C. Davis, We wouldn t be here as a country without that... Washington D.C as a city wouldn t exist without compromise (Doc. J). The 3 ways America was successful with Compromise from 1774 1865 were with Amendments, Slavery, and The Constitution. To begin, Amendments are a form of successful compromise because it s a group decision. Everyone needs to agree on the choice of correction. If the people who created the Amendments didn t agree, we wouldn t have them today. This proves they were a success. George Washington urged congress in his first inaugural address to propose amendments that offered a reference for the characteristic rights of freemen and a regard for public harmony. (Doc. Essay on Opposites Attract in Antony and Cleopatra Opposites Attract in Antony and Cleopatra William Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra is a play that is centred around a pair of historical lovers from two distinct cultures, Mark Antony from Rome and Queen Cleopatra from Egypt. The Roman and Egyptian cultures have vastly different norms and social ideas that are almost complete polar opposites in nature. These conflicting views are instrumental in the way that Cleopatra and Antony act. These two characters are so great in their respective societies that they serve as models to look to, although Antony may not be everybody s perfect vision of what a Roman should be. It is also important to look at not only what these two characters think of their cultures, but what cultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to this way of designating the two title characters, Anne Barton has compiled a list of expressions used to describe Cleopatra and Antony. She first discusses references to Antony: In the course of the tragedy, Antony is called the noble Antony, the courteous Antony, the firm Roman, Mars, a mine of bounty, the triple pillar of the world, the demi atlas of this earth, the lord of lords, of infinite virtue, the crown o the earth, and the garland of the war. These are only a few of the celebratory epithets. He is also poor Antony, a libertine, the abstract of all faults that all men follow, a gorgon, a sworder, an old ruffian, a doting mallard, the ne er lust wearied Antony, and a strumpet s fool. (47) All of the honorific titles given to Antony suggest to the audience that he is indeed more than a mortal man. Even in the titles given to Antony that are less than respectful, he is still seen as something other than an average human being. Being called a gorgon , for example, would not make Antony seem like a hero, but he would still be seen as something more than human. Many times a description of Antony will include the word the , implying that he alone is this great, and has no counterpart. Cleopatra is also more than a simple mortal human in the role of the Queen of Egypt, as she is constantly referred to as the personification of Egypt. She even refers to herself in the same way. Hawthorne s, Young Goodman Brown is a story about a man, Goodman Brown who happens to set out on a trip for an evil purpose. On the way he meets a man who offers him his staff, saying that it might help him walk faster, but Goodman Brown refuses and wishes to return back to his village for the sake of his wife, Faith. On the other hand, Irving s, The Devil and Tom Walker is about an individual who lets his greed and selfishness take charge of him. Tom Walker, a greedy man, attempts to make a deal with a devil. Tom seeks wealth and in return the devil asks for his soul. In both stories, the authors express their feelings and views about staying away from indulgence and sin. In spite of all the difference among Hawthorne s, Young Goodman Brown and Irving s, The Devil and Tom Walker, they share salient similarities such as setting, symbolism, and author s purpose. To begin with, Hawthorne and Irving portray a similar use of setting in their works of literature. Both authors illustrate a gloomy setting which takes place in remote areas of Massachusetts around the same period of time. • 17. A Fallen Monument By William Faulkner A Fallen Monument William Faulkner was born September 25, 1897, in Oxford, Mississippi. After living there for most of his life, he later moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, where he was a writer in the residence at the University of Virginia. Faulkner published 19 novels and more than 75 short stories between 1926 and 1962. Faulkner is known best for some of his ground breaking novels: The Sound and the Fury; As I Lay Dying; Light in August; Absalom, Absalom! and Go Down, Moses. Like the novels, the majority of Faulkner s stories were set in the South. Particularly in Yoknapatawpha County, there he invented fictional black and white characters. His major fictional families include the Sartoris, Snopes, De Spain, Compson, Sutpen, McCaslin, and Carothers (The Facts on File Companion to American Short Story). The characters appeared multiple times carefully outlining their family histories throughout Faulkner s canon. The majority of his stories were in the country he resided. He made use of myths, legends, themes, situations and characters; repeatedly experimenting with these and other techniques. Critic James G. Watson brings forth a key point by deepening the meaning in Faulkner s short stories by stating these stories do more than entertain, they explain the world. These stories broaden our view of history, people of different regions, and overall of humanity. European Relations With Native Americans Robert Bossong History II Honors Mr. Hartwell 3/2/16 European Relations with Native Americans As the Europeans arrived on American shores, they encountered a variety of native peoples. Some were living in advanced civilizations; others were living as simple hunter gatherer cultures. By the time of the first European contact, in 1492, European settlers interacted with the native peoples in different ways. The Spanish ruled the natives as conquered people, forcing many to work on agricultural estates. The French developed a harmonious relationship with the natives. The English approach fell somewhere between the two polar European powers. The Spanish settled in present day Mexico and Peru; they encountered the advanced civilizations of the Aztec and Inca Empires. After diseases wiped out most of the native population, millions survived. The Spanish incorporated the survivors as laborers for their own empire. Eventually, after forced labor, the survivors died from exhaustion. Few Spanish families settled the empire so the group of explorers and soldiers intermarried with the natives. After enslaving indigenous peoples in the Caribbean and the southern parts of the Americas to grow crops and mine for gold, silver, and other valuables, the Spanish moved into North America where they concentrated their efforts in what is now the southwestern and southeastern United States. In this section, the poet identifies with the victims of Moloch s destructive influence. This is clear as after each refrain, the poem alludes to an experience which could be considered traumatic. I feel like Chesnutt contradicts himself in the conjure tales. By this I mean that he comes off to the reader as one thing, but he is interpreted by literary critics as something else. The author is reaffirming the stereotypes of blacks by using the character in this manner. Which is, they are liars and they will do anything to achieve what they need or want. Unsurprisingly, the predominating result was the stereotypical nuclear family, consisting of only father, mother, and children. This had once been culturally correct, but beginning in the mid 1900 s, the ideal American family has changed immensely with social development. Although the traditional family still exists in several households across the nation, the majority of families are far from the initial standards. A monumental change to the traditional American family came in 2015 when same sex marriage was legalized. This momentous step to ensure the acceptance and rights of ranging sexualities had not only enhanced the quality of life for same sex couples, but also transformed the iconic household. Now that gays all across the nation were granted their right to marry, it was no longer necessarily husband and wife but the classic couple could be wife and wife or husband and husband . This ... If you are illegally tapping and tampering with government property you shouldn t be aloud to be President. Richard Nixon not wanting to hand over the tapes made him look even guiltier. His excuse of him with holding the tapes being part of his executive privilege was a brilliant move with procrastinating the case, was it really part of it though. The president s executive privilege has been used throughout history many times, the first president of the United States George Washington used (an earlier illegal way; unestablished) it to not hand over documents requested by congressional members after the defeat of our ARmy against Native Indians. Dwight D. Eisenhower used an unestablished version to prevent the Communist Hunting Committee access to transcripts between Army Officials and Administration Officials. Ronald Reagan used it three times in his 4 year term once making him and his staff available for congressional scrutiny. Henry Bolingbroke the IV in Shakespeare s Henry the IV Part I follows a trend set by his predecessor in Richard II of self indulgence and neglect of his kingdom. These leaders worry about the possibility of losing their kingdom or their soldiers to other nobles who were also concerned more with obtaining a higher position rather than governing. The king must also be wary of his own life, something that was once revered and guarded closely by other nobles. Wars once fought for gaining or protecting land are overshadowed by personal battles fighting for the position of king. Henry proved himself a powerful and fearless leader ... Henry puts his leadership aside to focus his efforts upon preventing Prince Hal from absolute corruption or even betrayal. Hal enjoys the company of an unruly thief, the drunkard John Falstaff, as well as several other less respectable persons. Henry is more realistic and rational than Richard, and he is able to see that his position is not a good one. He may fear that he is a bad example for his son, for he too was a robber when he stole the throne. He fears that his son will ruin his image as king or even assist in overthrowing him; Why, Harry, do I tell thee of my foes, / Which are my nearest and dearest enemy? / Thou that art like enough, through vassal fear, / Base inclination, and the start of the spleen, / To fight against me under Percy s pay, / to dog his hells, and curtys at his frowns, / To show how much thou art degenerate. The International Financial Reporting Standards There have been plenty of debates surrounding the two type standards; on one side we have the United States General Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP) which has always been used until now with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). A committee of accountants from the American Institute of Accountants (AIA) created the first set of US GAAP standards in the 1930s. US GAAP is a set of guidelines made to help publicly traded companies create their financial statements. The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) serves a similar purpose, but has been globally accepted. European companies first adopted IFRS in 2005, and by 2012 countries such as Japan, Canada, and India had done the same. Since early 2010, FASB and IASB have been working together to converge both of these accounting standards. The SEC has been on board, and although they have not been successful yet, a Work Plan has been developed which lays out factors, which need to be considered before transitioning into a new reporting system. The main topic for this paper is pension and how both differ from GAAP and IFRS. Even in everyday life, a good leader is capable of achieving much greater things than a normal person. But leadership is a powerful tool that can be used both for the good of mankind and its downfall. The next value that Harry Jensen Kramer Jr talk about is the need for balance. A leader may have his own set of values and opinions of a situation. Many leaders tend to be headstrong in their mind set that only their opinion matters. Anyone who does not believe in his opinion is just challenging his authority. The Ethics Of Computer Forensics In a world where technology is increasingly becoming the way of life, it was only a matter of time before crime was no longer just in the streets but happening online as well. Criminals now get a new approach to carry out their crimes with the use of computers. Since technology is more like a murder mystery than catching the bad guy in the act, a new discipline of forensics needed to be put into place. This is known as computer forensics. Forensic science is any science used for the purpose of law. In the case of computer forensics it is the discipline that combines elements of law and computer science to collect and analyze data from computer systems, networks, wireless communications, and storage devices in a way that is admissible as evidence in a court of law (U.S. Cert, 2008). Meaning if you do something illegal on the Internet it can be found. Since the widespread use of computers, computer crime has caused an increase in computer investigations during the twenty first century. Some reasons for investigation include: identity theft, such as stolen social security and credit card numbers, to find evidence of a cheating spouse, to investigate hackers on a computer system, to find evidence of child pornography, and much more. This final point is called the Noble Eightfold Path, this being eight steps consisting of wisdom (right views, right intention) ethics (right speech, right action, right livelihood), mental discipline (right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration), which ultimately lead to liberation from the source of suffering. Although initially hesitant to share his insight on the grounds that humanity might not be ready for such a teaching, the Buddha decided to communicate his discovery to those willing to listen. His first converts were the five ascetics with whom he had lived when he himself followed the lifestyle of the ascetic. To these he preached his first sermon in the Deer Park at Benares, outlining to them the Four Noble Truths. Out of this small group the community of monks (or sangha) grew to about sixty in size and included Buddha s cousin, Ananda, and his son, Rahula. Later the Buddha was persuaded by his step mother and cousin to accept women into the sangha. • 38. The Big Thirst By Charles Fishman In the book The Big Thirst, Charles Fishman addresses the key issues of how water is abused in areas, like Las Vegas, and the era of easy water is over. Fishman explains where the largest amount of water is located and water s presence in space. His book is mainly composed of case studies showing how water in certain areas, like Las Vegas and India, has been dwindling and the absence of preparation in those places when the water is almost gone. Lastly, he talks about the misconceptions of tap water and the lack of understanding communities and people in power have about the future of water. Fishman wants the reader to be crystal clear on how water has come to this point, the issues of water shortages, and the solutions to water problems. In general, people think that the largest amount of fresh water is stored in ice caps but this is false. Fishman explains that most of the water on Earth exists in a fourth form, not ice, liquid, or vapor, but it exists as molecular water. This abundance of water is locked in the rock of the Earth s mantle, about 255 miles deep. Unfortunately, this water is almost totally inaccessible to the people on Earth. Steven Jacobsen, a geophysicist at Northwestern University, explains to Fishman that the water in the rocks is not like the water that comes out of the tap. Jacobsen says, If you release the pressure and temperature, the hydrogen and the OH come out as water (Fishman, pg 34). However, the amount of pressure and technology needed to ... The Meaning Of The Persistence Of Memory By Salvador Dali I remember the painting The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali that I could see in one of my textbooks back then when I was in Poland taking a history class. I really enjoyed the painting, even though I did not really know what the meaning of the painting was. Now, I got motivated to write a research paper about the piece of art, and to answer the question what the meaning of The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali is. The painting was created in 1931. Salvador Dali was a Spanish surrealist. Surrealism was a movement in the culture that introduced new techniques of creating visual arts. Surrealism was concentrated on people imagination, dreams, subconscious and unconscious minds on the nonphysical aspects of a human s body. Surrealists often created their works using dream imagery. Symbols played an important role in the art of surrealism. Symbols expressed ideas and emotions that were held by the authors of the visual arts, and they usually had hidden meanings. Salvador Dali was passionate about the intangible parts of people minds and lives. (Stanley Meisler, pp.16 17) The main desire of the Salvador Dali s painting titled The Persistence of Memory was to express the power of people memories with the respect to the passing time. However, the painting The Persistence of Memory has other significant meanings.
