Interesting Descriptive Essay Topics
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Interesting Descriptive Essay Topics" presents its own set of
challenges. Firstly, one must delve into the vast realm of potential topics, navigating through a
sea of choices to find those that not only capture attention but also provide ample material for
vivid description. The difficulty lies in striking a balance between uniqueness and relatability,
ensuring that the chosen topics resonate with a diverse audience.
Once the topics are identified, the writer faces the challenge of transforming mere ideas into
engaging narratives. Descriptive essays demand a skillful blend of creativity and precision,
requiring the writer to paint a detailed picture with words that appeals to the reader's senses. It's
not just about narrating an event or describing an object; it's about making the reader feel as
though they are experiencing it firsthand.
Furthermore, the writer must navigate the fine line between providing enough detail to create a
vivid image and avoiding an overwhelming surplus of information. Striking this balance requires
a keen understanding of the chosen topic and a mastery of language to convey the essence
without drowning the reader in unnecessary minutiae.
Selecting an interesting descriptive essay topic and bringing it to life in a compelling manner
demands a thorough understanding of the subject matter and the ability to infuse it with a
unique perspective. The writer must weave a narrative that is both informative and captivating,
leaving a lasting impression on the reader.

Clockwork Orange Comparison
In Anthony Burgess s novel A Clockwork Orange, he depicts a dystopian future by
uses elements of literature that almost let reader see what is happening, but the film
can take it further. Stanley Kubrick s version of A Clockwork Orange differs from
the novel by featuring visual and musical elements that are not described in the books
but are metaphoric in cinematography.
Both the novel and the film still follow the same plotline. The protagonist and
narrator, Alex, is a violent young boy who would go into the night with his friends to
commit heinous crimes to anyone they come across. And when he is not disrupting
the peace, he enjoys listening to classical music, his favorite being Beethoven s 9th
Symphony. //Together, those are what brings... Show more content on

Before Alex went to jail, each scene looked painted with different bright, warm
color such as; red, yellow, green. Kurt Nassau, who has studied the link between
colors and emotions says that those colors signify happiness in a person. Before
prison, Alex is happy. But when he was in prison, his perception of reality changes
and the scenes consisted of more neutral colors like gray and brown, which
signifies depression and melancholy (Nassau). In prison, Alex s freedom is stripped
from him, leaving him depressed from boredom. The only time there is color the
prison scenes is when he reads the bible and starts to fantasizing about the violence
in the bible. In those scenes, the warm colors come back and Alex feel happy once
again. After Alex is cured by the ludovico technique , most of the scenes turn into
darker, colder colors, like blue, which symbolizes depression and sadness (Nassau).
Alex lost his ability to act freely, specifically committing crimes, and to listen to
Beethoven s 9th symphony , the two things that brought him joy. So now he is
depressed and suicidal. It s only in the last scene, when Alex is cured from being
cured , that he has a colorful daydream showing that he is happy once again when
thinking about violent and disturbing actings. All the colors shown in the film are
parallel to Alex s emotions; he is content when committing crimes, but depressed
when he cannot even think about doing
Strategy Fouling Constitutive Rule
Probably why violating constitutive rule started to happen was because winning has
become more important than playing the game. Obviously, someone started
strategy fouling either they knew what they were doing, or it started out as
something that happened by accident and they realized it could work to their
advantage. Once that happen of course everyone else was going to start doing it,
even if they felt like it might not be the right thing to do. Because if they didn t
they would be more likely to lose and since when you think about pro and national
level sport winning seems to have become really the main goal for everyone
involved. Bernard Suits it quoted saying it is generally acknowledged that games are
in some sense essentially non serious. We must therefore ask in what sense games
are, and in what sense they are not, serious. (p.159) I believe... Show more content on

I don t think you can consider it wrong for a team to use strategy fouling, they re
just using the rules that were put there by someone else to their advantage.
However, I do believe it can be more important depending on the sport that is being
played as Dixon said in a game like soccer one extra point can mean winning the
whole game whereas in basketball an extra few points might give one team an
edge but it is hardly going to be the majority of points scored.(p. 170 71) So it
makes sense that in soccer it is a much bigger deal and they do more things to
discourage it than they do in basketball. Simon stated that Restorative skills are
those employed to get the game back on track after a constitutive rule has been
violated (p. 221) As long as the sport has the necessary restorative skills to right the
game after a constitutive skill was violated then the player should have the right to
use it to their
Essay about Jacob A. Riis
Jacob Riis book How the Other Half Lives is a detailed description on the poor and
the destitute in the inner realms of New York City. Riis tries to portray the living
conditions through the В‘eyes of his camera. He sneaks up on the people flashes a
picture and then tells the rest of the city how the В‘other half is living. As shocking
as the truth was without seeing such povertyand horrible conditions with their own
eyes or taking in the experience with all their senses it still seemed like a million
miles away or even just a fairy tale. The reality of this book hit the people of New
York right between the eyes. Riis was once ascribed the label of lower class society,

Although he does possess quite a bit of bigotry that boarders on the line of prejudice
when it comes to African Americans he recognizes that they are suffering from
racism and he sympathizes with them. With his sympathy comes an attitude of
superiority, he looks down on the people in poverty because he was once there and
knows with hard work, like he has done, you can pull yourself up by the bootstraps
and make something better with your life.
Riis covers many aspects of the poverty that has stricken the tenement lodgers but
when talking about one end of the spectrum (poor) you also need to discuss the
other (rich). With out telling people how the other half of the other half lives he s
leaving out a crucial part of how people live in New York. By avoiding, that topic he
s giving the illusion that all people in New York live in such cramped housing as

tenement housing. There was a В‘rich part of town where the thought of not having
any money was never even contemplated. In addition, where the industrial revolution

Proper Level Of Segregation Between Audit And Non
Audit...
Abstract
Abstract:The purpose of this research paper is to discuss the proper level of
segregation between audit and non audit services, to ensure independence and instill
public confidence. In the wake of numerous accounting scandals of Enron,
WorldCom, etc, the importance of auditor independence has been brought to the
forefront of the accounting profession. The U.S. Public Company Accounting
Oversight Board (PCAOB) has taken a strict stance on auditor independence, which
signifies that an auditor cannot provide business advisory services without impeding
their autonomy. However, an analysis of the current auditor client relationship reveals
contradictions to the interpretation of absolute auditor independence. In recent
developments, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, AICPA s Code of Professional Conduct contains over 200 pages of
interpretive guidance on the topic of independence alone. The AICPA and PCAOB
stress heavily on the importance of auditor independence, and for good reason.
Financial statement users trust independent auditors ability to obtain reasonable
assurance about whether the financial statements are free of material misstatement,
whether caused by error or fraud. (AU C 200.06) Auditor independence is required to
instill public confidence in U.S. financial markets. Thus, the Public Company
Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) has a strict view on independence in both
fact and appearance. In AU 220.01, PCAOB states that an auditor must be without
bias with respect to the client. More specifically, an independent auditor must be free
from any obligation to or interest in the client, its management, or its owners. (AU
220.03) This strict interpretation of auditor independence was adopted as a means to
restore public confidence in U.S. financial markets following the Enron, Waste
Management, and other frauds in the early 2000 s. Unfortunately, the concept of
strict auditor independence may be impossible in today s public accounting
environment. There are several environmental factors that influence perceived auditor
independence. The underlying fee structure for accounting firms that audit public
companies prohibits complete auditor client
A Career As A Marine Biologist
Science has always interested me and i have been considering if for a career. If i was
to enter a science field for a career, these are the 3 fields i would be mostly
interested in. All of my life i had been fascinated with the ocean so i would highly
consider going into marine biology. Marine Biology is the study of all plants and
animals that live in the ocean. Marine Biologists study a wide range of organisms
that varies from Whales and Dolphins to single celled plankton and sea grass. They
can also study specific things like a single species of fish or all the fish that live in
different ecosystems. Marine Biologyalso has many places you could work at. One
day you could dragging giant nets behind a big boat and another time you coud be...

I want to be an engineer and i really like science and im good at it so it would be a
good field for me. Engineering science is the study of engineering and science and
learning how the two interact. Engineering is using math and science to improve
modern machines, technology, and structures and to invent, design, and build new
things. Engineering has a very wide range of very specific fields. You could work
as an aerospace engineer which is when you design and work on airplanes, a
hardware engineer who design and test various computer equipment, or even a
paper engineer who design and test an array of paper products. Other engineering
fields include plastic engineering, river engineering, automotive engineering, and
combat engineering ; just to name a couple of them. When it comes time when you
pick what field you want to be in, the possibilities are almost endless because there
are so many specific fields and careers. The ones that interest me most are ocean
engineering which is the design of structures in the ocean, automotive engineering
which is the design and testing of road vehicles, and metallurgical engineering which
is the study of metals and putting them to use. Also, engineering is a very important
thing in society because they solve all of societies problems that we encounter. For
example, if we didnt have medical engineers, there would be no machines in
hospitals to keep us alive and no cures
Persuasive Essay On Skin Care
How do we know when something is too early or too late? When exactly is the
right time? This is the same question that most people have when it comes to skin
care. The basic answer to everyone s curiosity is that skin care starts from a very
young age; from when you are a baby. Yes, wipes are considered as skincare. Another
question people get is when exactly is the right time to start investing in anti aging
skin care products. Can a person be too young or too late into the game?
Before indulging into the discussion on when to start using anti aging products,
one should first know how skin care begins in the first place. As stated earlier, even
babies use skin care. Wipes can be considered skin care in a sense that it cleanses
their skins from dirt or dust that could be harmful to their skin. The purpose already
proves its qualification as skin care.
Your skin grows as you grow, so your products should change over time as well.
InfoAging.com breaks it down into different age groups for people to further
understand what skin care to use and when to start using it.
For teenagers, it is usually pubescent maintenance. This means keeping the skin clean
to avoid pimples or reduce the development of such.
Common skin care products for teen include facial wash, facial scrub, and astringents.
As teenagers slowly enter into young adulthood, skin care routines are now for the
purpose of keeping that glow and vibrance. Teenagers have this natural knack to have
that fresh and
Gurian Chapter 1 Summary
Gurian presented six differences between males and females in Chapter 1, including
chemical, hormonal, and emotion processing, and how they influence an individuals
learning process. The chemicals serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, vasopressin, estrogen
and testosterone are processed differently in males and females. Males have 52
percent more serotonin, which regulates mood and anxiety levels, than females.
Females with lower serotonin levels often suffer from depression, while males are
often identified as Attention Deficit. Another chemical, dopamine, a neurotransmitter,
controls the brain s reward and pleasure centers as well as helping to regulate
movement and emotional responses. Dopamine can be stimulated differently in
males and females effecting movement, increased chances of addiction, difficulty
with paying attention, impulsivity, and more sensation seeking individuals dependent
upon their concentrations. Although, oxytocin, vasopressin, estrogen and testosterone
are chemicals produced by the body, they are created by hormones. The hormonal
differences in males and females include levels of oxytocin, estrogen, progesterone,
testosterone, and vasopressin. Oxytocin is more functionally present in females,
which assists them with bonding and maintaining relationships. The level of female
hormones, estrogen and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Master Of Suspense By Alfred Hitchcock
Alfred Hitchcock is an auteur who made fifty three feature length films in his
career: all of which are thrilling and captivating. He garnered the title of the Master
of Suspense because he took delight in frightening viewers (Lehman and Luhr 88).
His legacy is still revered today because his works are both financially successful and
artistically acclaimed (Sterritt 1). Like any artists who has produced an impressive
amount of art, he has a number of distinctive styles and themes he uses in his films to
make them engaging. Common technical and artistic Hithcockian signatures that
prevailing in North by Northwest (1959) (hereafter referred to as North) and Psycho
(1960) eliciting suspense and engagement with narrative include... Show more content

This, of course, is a very common nature of auteurs, as Lehman and Leur points out
in Thinking About Films that collaboration does not prevent an individual from
exerting enough control over the process to shape a film (79). Each director has a
different filmmaking process, and it is clear from watching Psycho and North that
Hitchcock s films have overriding obsessions that are explored in different ways
despite how stylistically different these two films may seem initially. The
production and general visual styles of both films are vastly opposites. North is a
very expensive project involving many sets (such as hotels, lodges, the United
Nations Headquarters, train station, Mount Rushmore, and an artificial forest),
containing many extras, and indulges in the architecture of different buildings. It
is fast paced, colorful, witty, and includes a car chase, a fight scene, an explosion
involving a plane and an oil tank on a flatland. This film also has the luxury of
capturing extreme long shots from the top of the UN building to the vast landscape
of the American farmlands. Psycho is more simple in all the aspects mentioned
earlier. While it is made one year after North, it is deliberately filmed in black and
white with only the necessary amount of sets and extras. Psycho allows Hitchcock to
exercise his stylistic chops as it evokes elements of noir;
Songs In Animal Farm
Knowing the correct information
One of the main theme in Animal Farm was the use of power in order to control
animals in lower class. This theme was seen through Napoleon s control of songs,
propaganda by Squealer, and intimidation. Animals who were not literate were
exploited by the upper class, pigs.
Animal Farm used the songs to control animals in lower class by upper class. The
songs were Beasts of England and Comrade Napoleon . At first the animals sang a
song Beast of England after Sunday s meeting, The Meeting always ended with the
singing of Beasts of England , and the afternoon was given up to recreation.
(Orwell. 31), this was so effective to control animals because they deepened their
unity by singing and increased awareness animals. In this book, the song of the
Rebellion named Beasts of England gave a power to animals Even the stupidest of
them had already picked up the tune and a few of the words... and They were so
delighted with the song that they sang it right ... Show more content on

The others said of Squealer that he could turn black into white (Owell, 16), this
was that Squealer s speech was persuasive. Squealer draw Napoleon s face on the
wall, Napoleon approved of this poem and caused it to be inscribed on the wall of
the big barn.... (95), this was that animals worshipped Napoleon by drawing.
Napoleon wanted to let the animals listen to everything by worshiping. Squealer
taught sheep to sing a new song, Four legs good, two legs BETTER! Four legs
good, two legs BETTER! Four legs good, two legs BETTER! (134), this was that
old songs, Four legs good, two legs bad was not desirable for pigs so pigs changed
the song. The animals held Spontaneous Demonstration, Long live Comrade
Napoleon! (116), this was that Napoleon tried to make consciousness one. From these
quotes, Napoleon tried to control the animals to worship Napoleon by using
The Influence Of Post-Secondary Education
It is hard. The professors do not care if you show up to class or not. You are
practically on your own. But you need to go to college. This was how my Junior
High and High school teachers went about motivating our class to attend college.
There is a great tinge of irony in the fact that the individuals responsible for my
educationwere also the individuals responsible for my doubt in it, that is, post
secondary education. However, I was fortunate to discover what collegewas really
like, and Letourneau helped me do this.
Coming from a public highschool that has an average grade population of 40
students (i.e class of 2015), it is common that only 25% will go on to college. And it
is even likelier that 10% of those students will drop out.
Gaited Horses Essay
On average, 24 horses die per week on racetracks in the U.S. (Cohen). This is due to
the horrible mistreatment and horrendous training methods used on too young
horses. However, the racetrack is not the only place where horses are abused. Horse
shows, show rings, large business stables, smaller private barns; wherever a horsecan
be found, there is potential for some sort of animal abuse. There is not one certain
breed or type of horse that is most commonly abused, every horse around the world
can be subject to mistreatment. Unfortunately, there are not many laws that protect
these horses, and some people merely turn their heads away. That is why there should
be more laws against the abusive techniques applied by many equestrians in the

Gaited horses, like the Tennessee walking horse, for example, are a special type of
horse. Tennessee walking horses naturally have a higher step. That high gait
decreases bouncing and makes a smooth ride for the rider. In walking horse shows,
the horse with a highest gate wins the competition. This gate is known as the Big
Lick. To produce an even higher gait, many trainers have used chains or special
horse shoes that cause more pressure on the hooves of a horse. This practice is
known as soring, when people cause pain to the lower legs and hooves of a horse
to speed up the training for a high (Gang). Thoroughbreds are used for one of the
most famous equine sports ever; horse racing. However, these fast horses have a
secret that make them go even faster. Performance enhancing drugs are used by
veterinarians, trainers, and owners. This increases the horses speed, but the drugs
are used way too often, and therefore damage the horses bones (Cohen). Whips are
also a tool of encouragement in the racing industry. That is also hard to separate into
black and white. One horse may shy away in fear from the whip, while

for the United States and its allies while at the same time a devastating defeat for
Iraq.1 The attack led by the United States on Iraq nearly destroyed the Iraqi s

changing Iraq s southern border in a way that was in favor of Kuwait. The attack
also instigated differences in opinion in Iraq and generally weakened Saddam

Of course, the United State s foreign policies towards Iraq has changed several
times since World War II. Before the Baathist coup in 1958 the United States
considered Iraq and Saudi Arabia as their principle allies. After the coup, the
relationship between the two countries had cooled down considerably and the
United States started to view Iraq as another radical and unfriendly nation in the
Middle East. Under the directions of the Shah, Iran stood as one of the most
important allies of the Middle East for the United State. The Iranian Revolution of
1979 and Cold War politics created another shift in United States foreign policies
concerning Iraq8. The United States clearly came down on the side of Iraq during
the eight year Iran Iraqi War. The United States military had supplied Iraq with
intelligence information to assist in Iraq attacks against Iran.9 The Reagan
administration in 1982 took Iraq off of their list of countries which were supporting
terrorism, a move that made it possible for Iraq to receive large amounts of
resources which could be used to produce weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
Throughout the 1980 s when the Bush administration was encouraging new loans to
the Iraqi government in an effort to ease U.S. Iraqi trades, the United States provided
Iraq with both indirect and direct economic aid.10 Also, throughout the 1980 s the
United States consistently turned a blind eye to Iraq s production and use
Extensive Field Documentation And Radiocarbon Dating
Summary and conclusions
Extensive field documentation and radiocarbon dating resulted in a detailed
alluvial history of mid elevation valley and piedmont areas of the Carrizo Wash
watershed. Much of the alluvial chronology has century scale resolution, making it
one of the best dated and detailed Holocene alluvial sequences from the southern
Colorado Plateau and the larger southwestern U.S. region. The Carrizo Wash
alluvial history spans the entire Holocene, although early Holocene deposits in
valley contexts are deeply buried with few exposures and little dateable material.
Similarly, study of middle Holocene alluvial fan deposits was hindered by the rarity
of exposed deposits of this age probably because of subsequent erosion.
Comparison of the Carrizo Wash alluvial history with regional flood histories and
paleoclimatic proxies of the strength of winter (ENSO) and summer (NAM) moisture
sources confirmed that Carrizo Wash geomorphic systems were sensitive to regional
climate change throughout the Holocene. Channel entrenchment was usually
preceded by extended drought and occurred more frequently during (1) periods of
increased climatic variability associated with enhanced ENSO conditions, (2) major
shifts in effective moisture or precipitation amount and seasonality, and (3) periods
with few large floods. Accelerated piedmont and valley aggradation occurred during
periods with low effective moisture associated with enhanced NAM and weak ENSO
circulation that resulted in

Examples Of Fidelity In King Lear
While normally portrayed as a virtue that will only bring good on a person, truth
seems that in the world of Lear honesty and fidelity only bring a person to ruin.
Cordelia and Edgar loyal and honest characters are the ones cast out of their homes

loves her father but not blinding love to him. This shows honesty because once
Lear became angry with her over not throwing all her love to him she decided
against lying to him with flowery words even if it would cost her half the kingdom.

Breast Feeding Persuasive Speech
One issue I would like to change today is breast feeding. I think it should be
normalized. Yes, women today have many benefits, thanks to our ancestors but I
think this is an important issue today for several women. How is it fair that we have
spots dedicated to smokers but don t have a place where a womancan feel secure

harsh hypocrites. It s ok for woman to be braless wearing a tight shirt with her

What Is Scout s Transformation In To Kill A Mockingbird
In the earliest pages of To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, one would not be able

we are introduced to Scout telling the story of her family s history, and describing
Maycomb; a small, poor town immersed in traditional Southern values. Scout begins
to explain the circumstances that lead to the broken arm of her older brother, Jem.
The important people in her life are Calpurnia, the African American housekeeper
who becomes her mother figure, her brother Jem, who protects her and goes on
adventures with her, and her father Atticus who teaches her the importance of
equality. Maycomb County residents tend be infected with Maycomb s usual disease

An instance of this would be when Dill runs away from his home and comes to
Scout s house as refuge. When they are sleeping in bed, Dill tells Scout that they
should have a baby, which neither of them know how to do; Scout says, Aunty
said God drops em down the chimney (163). This quote clearly shows that Scout
doesn t have an inkling of how to have a baby, or where babies come from. Dill has
a different opinion in his head, he says, But there s this man too he has all these
babies just waitin to wake up, he breathes life into em.... (Lee, 163). Scout is so
naive that she believes Dill, the story telling, drama making, dreamer who runs

her age. Another example of her being naive is when she is at school one day and

Scout has been taught and shown by Atticus and Calpurnia to treat black people with

products and addition of new programs to get back members.
Consumers are powerful in this industry. Because there were many clubs for
consumers to chose. So the consumers would choose the club which meets their
need such as low price, convenient location, and specific services and so on.
Consumers were more like the payment style of pay as you go . They did not want
to bind themselves in a long term contract but rather pay per visits. Consumers had
more flexible choice in this way. So clubs did not make a lot of money from
enrollment. They must think about how to improve the quality of services and
provide diverse services to meet different needs from consumers. The consumers have
power in the pay style, the price, and the service contents in this industry. These
factors will greatly impact the development of Bally.
Most of clubs bought equipment from a small number of well known suppliers. So

Katherine Mansfield s The Garden Party
Often time s children are reared to believe in the values and morals of their family.
Family traditions and beliefs are expected to be followed and obeyed. However,
Laura Sheridan is a young girl from a rich family. She has an innocent mind and
contradicts her family s morals. The morals that the reader views about Laura are
strong in the fact that she challenges with most of the rich viewpoints that her family
has. Katherine Mansfield s usage of characters in The Garden Party illustrates the
contradiction of values between the upper classand lower class, yet it also seems that
Laura and Laurie, who is more like his upper class family, are twins. Laura has
different values than her family. Laura states, But we can t possibly have a garden
party with a man dead just outside the front gate, indicating that Laura is willing to
throw away the whole big party that she planned, because a man from the poorer
community had dies. However, the rest of Laura s family believes that the party
should go on because the man is below them in class. Laura s mother tells her that
they still had to have the party, so Laura had to say yes to that, but [Laura] felt it
was all wrong. Even though Laura did not agree with what her mother was saying
about the party going on, she had to give in because nobody was being reasonable or
listening to her. This proves that Laura has a different mindset than the other upper
class people at the party. After the party, the mother insists on Laura
Supporting Ban on Pete Rose from Baseball Hall of Fame
Essay
What has the game of baseball meant for Americans? For many baseball is a game
of integrity, honesty, and without a doubt skill. When one of these factors is
allowed to overtake the other it leaves the game unbalanced with lost priorities.
Like everything else in life, baseball has rules and regulations which should be
followed and enforced. The Baseball Hall of Fame honors persons who have
excelled in playing, managing, and serving the sport. Having ten years of
experience in the game and five years of retirement players who pass a screening

Ignorance and Racism
Joseph Conrad develops themes of personal power, individual responsibility, and
social justice in his book Heart of Darkness. His book has all the trappings of the
conventional adventure tale mystery, exotic setting, escape, suspense, unexpected
attack. Chinua Achebe concluded,
quot;Conrad, on the other hand, is undoubtedly one of the great stylists of modern
fiction and a good story teller into the bargain quot; (Achebe 252). Yet, despite
Conrad s great story telling, he has also been viewed as a racist by some of his

Johnny Got His Gun By Dalton Trumbo
Johnny Got His Gun was written by Dalton Trumbo in 1938 but was not published
until late 1939. Johnny Got His Gun won The Most Original Book of 1939 which
is a National book award. This book was set during World War I. The book itself is

over the Prince of Wales arranging a visit to meet the wounded soldier at a
Canadian veterans hospital. Trumbo was not only an author of American history
but American history himself. Trumbo was born in Montrose, Colorado on
December 9, 1905. He was married to Cleo Beth Fincher. He also had three

Geological Events That Geologists Use An Geological Clues
When geologists are observing landscapes and looking for details as to how it may
have formed there, they often start by looking at the smaller picture. Before
making any hypotheses, it s important to look for these geological clues. Rocks
have many unique physical features that can tell the tale of how they came to be
or what they experienced. Some characteristics include texture, color, size, shape,
evidence of erosion and layers. Geologists use the physical characteristics of a rock
to determine how they formed by comparing characteristics of the rock to that of
another location, trading location for time, and determining the order of
geological events. This can later tell a lot about the environment of a rock;
including their: age, how the landscape once was, and even what once lived there.
One strategy that geologists use to interpret geological clues, which help us to
infer how a rock formed in a specific environment, is by comparing the
characteristics such as size, shape, texture, and other materials that the rock might
contain. For example, in the fourth edition of Exploring Geology, the reader is
given the comparison of rocks from a riverbed and rocks from a steep mountain
front. Stones shaped by the river were smoother in texture and rounder than that of
the mountain. The river stones were also surrounded by a mantle of sand (pg. 28).
However, the mountain rocks were jagged, angular, and in a matrix of mud, sand, or
small rock fragments (pg. 28). Now, if a
Trade Between The Maya And Aztec People
When in fact chocolate hails from Mexico and cacao was actually used as currency
between the Maya and Aztec people (Dyke, n.d.). It was also used for various
medicinal purposes, from stomach ailments, fever to infections (Dyke, n.d.). The
piГ±ata is something else we associate with Mexico. It actually has a long history
of how it came about to what we think of today. Marco Polo, while in China
witnessed a celebration where a clay bull filled with seeds was hit with a stick (
Mexican PiГ±ata , n.d.). He then brought this idea back with him to Italy (
Mexican PiГ±ata , n.d.). This idea of clay pots made to be broken for celebrations
spread to other countries ( Mexican PiГ±ata , n.d.). It wasn t until sometime in the
1970 s where the piГ±ata was changed to a papier mГўchГ© and filled with candies
for children s birthdays ( Mexican PiГ±ata , n.d.). Another thing that comes from
Mexicois tequila, which is an alcohol that is made from the agave cactus
(Zimmermann, 2010). All the tequila in the world is made in Mexico, no other
country can produce and call it tequila. This is because in 1978, the Appellation of

Examples Of Exceptionality In Tangled, The Incredibles,...
Throughout my paper I will discuss how the exceptionality of certain individuals is
presented in Tangled, The Incredibles, and Spirited Away, and also how their
exceptionality relates to society. The exceptional characters in these movies are
positively different from the average ones, and the differences are presented by
giving these characters special abilities. In Tangled, Rapunzel is able to heal people,
control aging, agility, adaptability, and magic tears. In The Incredibles, Bob Parr/Mr.
Incredible has super strength, Helen Parr/Elastigirl is able to super stretch her body,
Violet Parr can become invisible and generate impact resistant force shields, Dash
Parr has super speed, and Jack Jack Parrhas a rage of powers. In Spirited Away,...

The story illustrates that exceptionality is innate within all of us, but sometimes as
we get older we lose our abilities. Chihiro is considered an exceptional character
because she can see and communicate with the spirit world. Her parents have lost
touch with their ability to notice things outside of human world and they suffer
because of this. Chihiro is able to go on a journey that saves her and her parents,
and because she succeeds in the end it is implied that it is important to hold on to
your exceptionality even as you grow old. In Spirited Away, the only characters
able to react to Chihiro s presence in the spirit world are the spirits. The spirits that
work in the bath house aren t pleased that there is a human in their presence, they
blame things on her, and make her do the dirty jobs. Towards the end of the movie
these spirits get over their prejudices and begin to love Chihiro. In the beginning
she is seen as simply a freak that doesn t belong, but by the end she proves herself
and everyone has learned from her. Chihiro s exceptionality is the only reason she
was able to be the hero of her story; her parents lost touch with their culture and
almost got themselves
Textual Analysis Of Wings Of Desire, By Wim Wenders
Wings of Desire Wings of Desire is a German film by director Wim Wenders
released in 1987. The scene I want to focus on for the textual analysis is the scene
in which the angel Cassiel attempts to comfort a suicidal man, but his attempts at
comfort fail when the man jumps off of a building, causing Cassiel to descend into
a spiral of grief and anger. The scene starts with a sound bridge between a shot of
birds in flight and a shot of a man sitting on the edge of a building. The sound of the
birds mixes with non diegetic music and the sound of the man s thoughts. The
viewers can hear his thoughts, which is symbolized by his non diegetic stream of
consciousness monologue. The actor s mouth does not move, but the viewers still
hear his monologue,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then there are a few interlude shots of Peter Falk, before the montage, which is a
maelstrom of quickly paced short shots. The short, confusing shots serve to
disorient the viewer and put them in the same headspace as Cassiel, who is
grieving, as well as to create symbolic meaning. In between the handheld shots that
progress through the city, there are shots of people that are vulnerable or hurt.
There is a shot of a woman lying on a staircase, a shot of a man on a bench,
possibly an index pointing at him being homeless, a fighting couple, a child crying
for his mother, and footage that seems to be from during the war, intercutting with
shots of a bird s wings. Bird s wings are symbolically associated with angels, and
these shots intercut with shots of war and destruction, linking the two together, the
angel is the powerless witness of the war. The viewer understands the shots in the
montage to be from the angel s point of view; he is the one who sees all that pain
and carries the burden of comfort. Jump cuts are used as well throughout the
montage, for example in the shot of the women in the staircase, further increasing the
sense of frantic confusion, and an example of poetic rather than practical language, as
the information is not delivered in a straightforward
Libertarianism Research Paper
Libertarianism as a type of government gives the view that each individual has the
right to live how they please, as long as the individual respects and does not
interfere with another individuals life (Boaz 1997, 2). Rights are not given by
government but are bestowed upon a person by virtue of being human and
libertarians defend an individual s rights to property, life and liberty (Boaz 1997, 2).
The libertarianismframework which stands for economic development and liberty
under law is suited to the changing world, the dynamic world of today (Boaz 1997, 3).
The main concept of libertarianism is individualism, where libertarians see every
individual as their own person capable of making choices and being held
responsible for their actions (Boaz 1997, 12). Individual rights are held to a high
account, with each person having the right to be secure in life, property and liberty
through virtue of being human (Boaz 1997, 12). Order in society is another core
concept, developing from the integration of people and coordination within trade
(Boaz 1997, 13). The rule of law argues that people are free to do what they want, as
long as they do not interfere with another person s life (Boaz 1997, 13). A limited...

Essay on John Keats La Belle Damn Sans Merci Analysis
Of all the themes in poetry, one that is most commonly used and stands out quite a
lot is love. T. S Elliot once quoted Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an
escape from emotion . As such, it is no wonder that the themes of unrequited love
and despair are very prominent in poem La Belle Dame sans Merci by John Keats. In
this poem Keats clearly denotes his personal rebellion against the pains of loveand
revealed the sad reality that; in pleasure, there is pain. This paper will take a closer
look at one of the most prominent themes in La Belle Dame sans Merci; Love and
Despair.

He was all alone and the his expectations of the romance was shattered. It then
dawned that his suffering disappointment stemmed from the realization that she never
really loved him the way he thought she did. At this point the knight is lonely and
hopeless, but he does not show anger towards her. This shows his understanding that
in love there is despair. Even though the love he feels for her is pure and true, she
did not have the same feelings.
The only clues in La Bella Dame sans Merci that depicts whether or not the love
felt by the maiden towards the knight is true, comes from the dreams of the knight
when he was sleeping. In his dream he comes to the realization that the maiden is
pitiless and she has no mercy. His dreams can be interpreted as if the knight
subconsciously knew that the love wasn t real and that the maiden had already left
him, and his mind has already started shifting the blame towards her. This mentally
prepares the knight for the harsh reality that he has to face as he awakes. The
dream might just be his rationalization; a way of making her out to be evil in order
to cope with the pain of learning his love is unrequited, and in love there is despair.
Despair is the state of having lost all hope, of finding oneself unable to believe life
will ever be good again. The knight in La Belle Dame sans Merci falls into despair
when he learns a relationship that seemed to be just starting has abruptly ended. His
Volunteers In A Missing Person Case
In a missing person s case, there are many civilian volunteers that assist local and
state search and rescue teams. Many times, it s initially unclear whether the
missing person is a victim of foul play, injured and unable to signal for help, or is
simply lost. It s the job of the law enforcement officials to work with the volunteers,
to collect clues and determine exactly what the mission will need. SAR teams first
priority is to establish a search area. This is typically a circle based on the last
place the missing person was seen (Bryant, 2008). As the search progresses, that
point will change. If you have a last point seen and a last known position, then you
have a reasonable approximation on which direction and how fast the person was

hearts they aspire to fill the void they experience. The idea The mass of men lead

Shakespeare And Catholicism Essay
By researching the life and writings of William Shakespeare, it can be shown that
many Christian values and beliefs are displayed through his literary works. In order
to understand the religious content in Shakespeare s work it is helpful to first
understand what the religious environment in England was like around Shakespeares
time. England, ever since it was ruled by the Romans, had been a Catholic nation.
Before Shakespeare s lifetime, a drastic change occurred that completely upended the
existing Catholicism of the English people. During King HenryVIII s reign, the
English people were, for the most part, content with Catholicism. Through a series of
very complex political maneuvers, Henry eventually seized power of the English...

Being a small town meant that these religious changes occurred more slowly and
later than they did in London. As with the majority of English towns, Stratford did
not welcome the reformations of their religion imposed by the state (Milward 17). In
time, the town bore these mandated changes out of necessity.
There is some evidence that Shakespeare s parents were Catholic before the
Reformation and remained so at heart after it. John Shakespeare, William s father,
held a high position in Stratford. At one point in his life, in order to receive a
promotion, John had to take an oath that was anti Catholic in nature and affirmed
Queen Elizabeth I as the head of the Church of England (Milward 18 19). Later in his
life, when John s fortunes had slipped some, his attendance in Protestant meetings
stopped (Milward 19). Other evidence of John s adherence to Catholicism comes
from an archaeological find. A spiritual testament of John Shakespeare was found
after his death. Spiritual testaments were popular among English Catholics of that
time. They were professions of adherence to the Catholic faith (Milward 21).
Shakespeare s mother, Mary, came from a devout Catholic family that held positions
throughout the Catholic church before its demise in England (Milward 21).
Shakespeare s family appears, at most, nominally Protestant, merely for the purpose
of remaining a functioning part of Stratford (Milward 22). Once John s

How To: Hadoop and Mark logic
Before talking about Hadoop and Mark Logic, it is very important to understand Big

everyday over the internet via different devices is known as Big Data . For example:
if the user has 7 accounts and creates multiple files in each account he has already

1. Volume
2. Velocity
3. Variety With all the collection of large datasets with huge volume, high velocity
and variety of data, business and organization were at risk to handle their data
privacy and security beyond their capacity. Due to the increase in new technology,
business, communication, device, big scale of data was produced. About 90% data
in today s world was just created in last two years alone, without counting those data
that has been created previously. The information retained in those data was a big
risk to many organizations as the current technology was managing the data with
traditional approach, which consisted of user, a centralized system and relational
data base. This style had various drawbacks together along with two key problems:
less storage capacity and slow data processing.
To overcome the problem, Doug Cutting

Examples Of Justice And Punishment In King Lear
Justice, Punishment, and Mercy It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in
ourselves. One of William Shakespeare s most famous and commonly used quotes
is an important juxtaposition to how Shakespeare wrote some of his plays, while it
seems he did not believe as much in divine destiny or action, but in the action of
oneself physically, and how that affects one s life. In both King Learand Measure For
Measureby Shakespeare, there are three very important themes that were influenced
by the times in which they were written justice, punishment, and mercy. The
difference between the two is in first play, those three themes are completed in
divine actions, while in the second play the trio are meted out by the actions of
characters within the play. Punishment in the 1600 s was often a from of public
entertainment in larger towns and cities, and was used to display and humiliate
criminals. The acts committed by these criminals had a large range in severity,
covering theft to sexual misdemeanors and treason. A common problem with these
punishments though was consistency. Shakespeare was able to illustrate some of
these inconsistencies in both of his plays Measure For Measure and King Lear.
Shakespeare not only was able to provide a beautiful form of entertainment to all of
the separate classes, while also appealing to educations of all levels and political and
social issues without causing uproar; what he was able to do is a mastery of writing
and understanding of the

Introduction Mobile Health is defined at the mHealth Summit as any health related
service that is given using a hand held device or mobile type of communication
(Torgan, 2009).
Mobile health (mHealth) technology made an appearance in the early 2000 s with the
personal digital assistant (PDA), most notably the Blackberry (Ventola, 2014). Since
then, the trend has grown remarkably. Experts predict that by 2015, over 500 million
people will be accessing health related applications from their smartphones (Mobile

It was one particular conversation that they were having in the movie that was really
disturbing. A another lady that was victim of human trafficking was telling the main
character how women can be taken to a large construction site with a lot mean there
to be sold and abused. Cargo showed what can happen when you get caught up in
human trafficking, but it also shows the main character trying to break free from that
lifestyle. In Taken, it showed how one naГЇve decision could be life changing. Two
teenage girls went to Paris alone and fell victim to human trafficking as soon as
they left the airport. That s how easy it is to kidnap people because the captors
prey on the vulnerable. In this movie, it showed glimpse of what the girl was going
through as a slave, but it showed more of what the father had to do to save his
daughter. Between Cargo and Taken, they both showed scenes of what a house of
sex slaves look like, how their drugged up and used, and how sleazy men are the
reason for these

Software
Technology Standards
The first technology standard relating to the outsourcing of the software writing
would be the Base Operating System. The two teams must decide on a base OS to
be used. This will allow for easier sharing, troubleshooting, and future support of the
product. This need for this standard is because most programing software packages
offer solutions for Windows, Linux, Unix, MAC. The issue arises if one team is
using one OS platform and the other is using another, even if they are using the same
application to write the code there may be differences which could cause problems in
future bug fixes.
The idea of a standard platform goes beyond the writing suite and extends into all
expects of the work. This primary standard will be a basis for all other applications
chosen by the company from email to collaboration.
The Second concern would be the level of encryption for the SSL VPN. The level
indicated by the India group is very poor and considered unsecure by most measures.
The ability to break the encryption is much easier with the lower bit encryption used.
Both teams need to agree on a minimum encryption to use that would be both secure
enough to ensure that data is not compermised but yet not so intrusive to the data that
causes lag in transmission. The outsourcing company in India would should have a
good understanding of the legal specifications of encryption for data moving between
the 2 companies. Generally there is a max encryption put in

  • 2. Clockwork Orange Comparison In Anthony Burgess s novel A Clockwork Orange, he depicts a dystopian future by uses elements of literature that almost let reader see what is happening, but the film can take it further. Stanley Kubrick s version of A Clockwork Orange differs from the novel by featuring visual and musical elements that are not described in the books but are metaphoric in cinematography. Both the novel and the film still follow the same plotline. The protagonist and narrator, Alex, is a violent young boy who would go into the night with his friends to commit heinous crimes to anyone they come across. And when he is not disrupting the peace, he enjoys listening to classical music, his favorite being Beethoven s 9th Symphony. //Together, those are what brings... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before Alex went to jail, each scene looked painted with different bright, warm color such as; red, yellow, green. Kurt Nassau, who has studied the link between colors and emotions says that those colors signify happiness in a person. Before prison, Alex is happy. But when he was in prison, his perception of reality changes and the scenes consisted of more neutral colors like gray and brown, which signifies depression and melancholy (Nassau). In prison, Alex s freedom is stripped from him, leaving him depressed from boredom. The only time there is color the prison scenes is when he reads the bible and starts to fantasizing about the violence in the bible. In those scenes, the warm colors come back and Alex feel happy once again. After Alex is cured by the ludovico technique , most of the scenes turn into darker, colder colors, like blue, which symbolizes depression and sadness (Nassau). Alex lost his ability to act freely, specifically committing crimes, and to listen to Beethoven s 9th symphony , the two things that brought him joy. So now he is depressed and suicidal. It s only in the last scene, when Alex is cured from being cured , that he has a colorful daydream showing that he is happy once again when thinking about violent and disturbing actings. All the colors shown in the film are parallel to Alex s emotions; he is content when committing crimes, but depressed when he cannot even think about doing
  • 3. Strategy Fouling Constitutive Rule Probably why violating constitutive rule started to happen was because winning has become more important than playing the game. Obviously, someone started strategy fouling either they knew what they were doing, or it started out as something that happened by accident and they realized it could work to their advantage. Once that happen of course everyone else was going to start doing it, even if they felt like it might not be the right thing to do. Because if they didn t they would be more likely to lose and since when you think about pro and national level sport winning seems to have become really the main goal for everyone involved. Bernard Suits it quoted saying it is generally acknowledged that games are in some sense essentially non serious. We must therefore ask in what sense games are, and in what sense they are not, serious. (p.159) I believe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I don t think you can consider it wrong for a team to use strategy fouling, they re just using the rules that were put there by someone else to their advantage. However, I do believe it can be more important depending on the sport that is being played as Dixon said in a game like soccer one extra point can mean winning the whole game whereas in basketball an extra few points might give one team an edge but it is hardly going to be the majority of points scored.(p. 170 71) So it makes sense that in soccer it is a much bigger deal and they do more things to discourage it than they do in basketball. Simon stated that Restorative skills are those employed to get the game back on track after a constitutive rule has been violated (p. 221) As long as the sport has the necessary restorative skills to right the game after a constitutive skill was violated then the player should have the right to use it to their

  • 5. Proper Level Of Segregation Between Audit And Non Audit... Abstract Abstract:The purpose of this research paper is to discuss the proper level of segregation between audit and non audit services, to ensure independence and instill public confidence. In the wake of numerous accounting scandals of Enron, WorldCom, etc, the importance of auditor independence has been brought to the forefront of the accounting profession. The U.S. Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) has taken a strict stance on auditor independence, which signifies that an auditor cannot provide business advisory services without impeding their autonomy. The AICPA and PCAOB stress heavily on the importance of auditor independence, and for good reason. Financial statement users trust independent auditors ability to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements are free of material misstatement, whether caused by error or fraud. (AU C 200.06) Auditor independence is required to instill public confidence in U.S. financial markets. Thus, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) has a strict view on independence in both fact and appearance. In AU 220.01, PCAOB states that an auditor must be without bias with respect to the client. More specifically, an independent auditor must be free from any obligation to or interest in the client, its management, or its owners. (AU 220.03) This strict interpretation of auditor independence was adopted as a means to restore public confidence in U.S. financial markets following the Enron, Waste Management, and other frauds in the early 2000 s. Unfortunately, the concept of strict auditor independence may be impossible in today s public accounting environment. There are several environmental factors that influence perceived auditor independence. The underlying fee structure for accounting firms that audit public companies prohibits complete auditor client

Engineering is using math and science to improve modern machines, technology, and structures and to invent, design, and build new things. Engineering has a very wide range of very specific fields. You could work as an aerospace engineer which is when you design and work on airplanes, a hardware engineer who design and test various computer equipment, or even a paper engineer who design and test an array of paper products. Other engineering fields include plastic engineering, river engineering, automotive engineering, and combat engineering ; just to name a couple of them. This is the same question that most people have when it comes to skin care. The basic answer to everyone s curiosity is that skin care starts from a very young age; from when you are a baby. Yes, wipes are considered as skincare. Another question people get is when exactly is the right time to start investing in anti aging skin care products. Can a person be too young or too late into the game? Before indulging into the discussion on when to start using anti aging products, one should first know how skin care begins in the first place. As stated earlier, even babies use skin care. Wipes can be considered skin care in a sense that it cleanses their skins from dirt or dust that could be harmful to their skin. The purpose already proves its qualification as skin care. Your skin grows as you grow, so your products should change over time as well. Gurian Chapter 1 Summary Gurian presented six differences between males and females in Chapter 1, including chemical, hormonal, and emotion processing, and how they influence an individuals learning process. The chemicals serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, vasopressin, estrogen and testosterone are processed differently in males and females. Males have 52 percent more serotonin, which regulates mood and anxiety levels, than females. Females with lower serotonin levels often suffer from depression, while males are often identified as Attention Deficit. Each director has a different filmmaking process, and it is clear from watching Psycho and North that Hitchcock s films have overriding obsessions that are explored in different ways despite how stylistically different these two films may seem initially. The production and general visual styles of both films are vastly opposites. North is a very expensive project involving many sets (such as hotels, lodges, the United Nations Headquarters, train station, Mount Rushmore, and an artificial forest), containing many extras, and indulges in the architecture of different buildings. It is fast paced, colorful, witty, and includes a car chase, a fight scene, an explosion involving a plane and an oil tank on a flatland. This film also has the luxury of capturing extreme long shots from the top of the UN building to the vast landscape of the American farmlands. Psycho is more simple in all the aspects mentioned earlier. While it is made one year after North, it is deliberately filmed in black and white with only the necessary amount of sets and extras. Psycho allows Hitchcock to exercise his stylistic chops as it evokes elements of noir;

Gaited horses, like the Tennessee walking horse, for example, are a special type of horse. Tennessee walking horses naturally have a higher step. That high gait decreases bouncing and makes a smooth ride for the rider. In walking horse shows, the horse with a highest gate wins the competition. This gate is known as the Big Lick. To produce an even higher gait, many trainers have used chains or special horse shoes that cause more pressure on the hooves of a horse. This practice is known as soring, when people cause pain to the lower legs and hooves of a horse to speed up the training for a high (Gang). Thoroughbreds are used for one of the most famous equine sports ever; horse racing. However, these fast horses have a secret that make them go even faster. Performance enhancing drugs are used by veterinarians, trainers, and owners. This increases the horses speed, but the drugs are used way too often, and therefore damage the horses bones (Cohen). Whips are also a tool of encouragement in the racing industry. That is also hard to separate into black and white. One horse may shy away in fear from the whip, while

Before the Baathist coup in 1958 the United States considered Iraq and Saudi Arabia as their principle allies. Under the directions of the Shah, Iran stood as one of the most important allies of the Middle East for the United State. The Iranian Revolution of 1979 and Cold War politics created another shift in United States foreign policies concerning Iraq8. Extensive Field Documentation And Radiocarbon Dating Summary and conclusions Extensive field documentation and radiocarbon dating resulted in a detailed alluvial history of mid elevation valley and piedmont areas of the Carrizo Wash watershed. Much of the alluvial chronology has century scale resolution, making it one of the best dated and detailed Holocene alluvial sequences from the southern Colorado Plateau and the larger southwestern U.S. region. The Carrizo Wash alluvial history spans the entire Holocene, although early Holocene deposits in valley contexts are deeply buried with few exposures and little dateable material. Similarly, study of middle Holocene alluvial fan deposits was hindered by the rarity of exposed deposits of this age probably because of subsequent erosion. Comparison of the Carrizo Wash alluvial history with regional flood histories and paleoclimatic proxies of the strength of winter (ENSO) and summer (NAM) moisture sources confirmed that Carrizo Wash geomorphic systems were sensitive to regional climate change throughout the Holocene. Channel entrenchment was usually preceded by extended drought and occurred more frequently during (1) periods of increased climatic variability associated with enhanced ENSO conditions, (2) major shifts in effective moisture or precipitation amount and seasonality, and (3) periods with few large floods. Accelerated piedmont and valley aggradation occurred during periods with low effective moisture associated with enhanced NAM and weak ENSO circulation that resulted in

  • 27. Geological Events That Geologists Use An Geological Clues When geologists are observing landscapes and looking for details as to how it may have formed there, they often start by looking at the smaller picture. Before making any hypotheses, it s important to look for these geological clues. Rocks have many unique physical features that can tell the tale of how they came to be or what they experienced. Some characteristics include texture, color, size, shape, evidence of erosion and layers. Geologists use the physical characteristics of a rock to determine how they formed by comparing characteristics of the rock to that of another location, trading location for time, and determining the order of geological events. This can later tell a lot about the environment of a rock; including their: age, how the landscape once was, and even what once lived there. One strategy that geologists use to interpret geological clues, which help us to infer how a rock formed in a specific environment, is by comparing the characteristics such as size, shape, texture, and other materials that the rock might contain. For example, in the fourth edition of Exploring Geology, the reader is given the comparison of rocks from a riverbed and rocks from a steep mountain front. Stones shaped by the river were smoother in texture and rounder than that of the mountain. The river stones were also surrounded by a mantle of sand (pg. 28). However, the mountain rocks were jagged, angular, and in a matrix of mud, sand, or small rock fragments (pg. 28). Now, if a

Throughout my paper I will discuss how the exceptionality of certain individuals is presented in Tangled, The Incredibles, and Spirited Away, and also how their exceptionality relates to society. The exceptional characters in these movies are positively different from the average ones, and the differences are presented by giving these characters special abilities. In Tangled, Rapunzel is able to heal people, control aging, agility, adaptability, and magic tears. In The Incredibles, Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible has super strength, Helen Parr/Elastigirl is able to super stretch her body, Violet Parr can become invisible and generate impact resistant force shields, Dash Parr has super speed, and Jack Jack Parrhas a rage of powers. In Spirited Away,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story illustrates that exceptionality is innate within all of us, but sometimes as we get older we lose our abilities. Chihiro is considered an exceptional character because she can see and communicate with the spirit world. Her parents have lost touch with their ability to notice things outside of human world and they suffer because of this. Chihiro is able to go on a journey that saves her and her parents, and because she succeeds in the end it is implied that it is important to hold on to your exceptionality even as you grow old. In Spirited Away, the only characters able to react to Chihiro s presence in the spirit world are the spirits. The spirits that work in the bath house aren t pleased that there is a human in their presence, they blame things on her, and make her do the dirty jobs. Towards the end of the movie these spirits get over their prejudices and begin to love Chihiro. In the beginning she is seen as simply a freak that doesn t belong, but by the end she proves herself and everyone has learned from her. Chihiro s exceptionality is the only reason she was able to be the hero of her story; her parents lost touch with their culture and almost got themselves

The scene I want to focus on for the textual analysis is the scene in which the angel Cassiel attempts to comfort a suicidal man, but his attempts at comfort fail when the man jumps off of a building, causing Cassiel to descend into a spiral of grief and anger. The scene starts with a sound bridge between a shot of birds in flight and a shot of a man sitting on the edge of a building. The sound of the birds mixes with non diegetic music and the sound of the man s thoughts. The viewers can hear his thoughts, which is symbolized by his non diegetic stream of consciousness monologue. The actor s mouth does not move, but the viewers still hear his monologue,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then there are a few interlude shots of Peter Falk, before the montage, which is a maelstrom of quickly paced short shots. The short, confusing shots serve to disorient the viewer and put them in the same headspace as Cassiel, who is grieving, as well as to create symbolic meaning. In between the handheld shots that progress through the city, there are shots of people that are vulnerable or hurt. There is a shot of a woman lying on a staircase, a shot of a man on a bench, possibly an index pointing at him being homeless, a fighting couple, a child crying for his mother, and footage that seems to be from during the war, intercutting with shots of a bird s wings. Bird s wings are symbolically associated with angels, and these shots intercut with shots of war and destruction, linking the two together, the angel is the powerless witness of the war. The viewer understands the shots in the montage to be from the angel s point of view; he is the one who sees all that pain and carries the burden of comfort. Jump cuts are used as well throughout the montage, for example in the shot of the women in the staircase, further increasing the sense of frantic confusion, and an example of poetic rather than practical language, as the information is not delivered in a straightforward
  • 31. Libertarianism Research Paper Libertarianism as a type of government gives the view that each individual has the right to live how they please, as long as the individual respects and does not interfere with another individuals life (Boaz 1997, 2). Rights are not given by government but are bestowed upon a person by virtue of being human and libertarians defend an individual s rights to property, life and liberty (Boaz 1997, 2). The libertarianismframework which stands for economic development and liberty under law is suited to the changing world, the dynamic world of today (Boaz 1997, 3). The main concept of libertarianism is individualism, where libertarians see every individual as their own person capable of making choices and being held responsible for their actions (Boaz 1997, 12). Individual rights are held to a high account, with each person having the right to be secure in life, property and liberty through virtue of being human (Boaz 1997, 12). Order in society is another core concept, developing from the integration of people and coordination within trade (Boaz 1997, 13). In this poem Keats clearly denotes his personal rebellion against the pains of loveand revealed the sad reality that; in pleasure, there is pain. He was all alone and the his expectations of the romance was shattered. It then dawned that his suffering disappointment stemmed from the realization that she never really loved him the way he thought she did. At this point the knight is lonely and hopeless, but he does not show anger towards her. This shows his understanding that in love there is despair. Even though the love he feels for her is pure and true, she did not have the same feelings. The only clues in La Bella Dame sans Merci that depicts whether or not the love felt by the maiden towards the knight is true, comes from the dreams of the knight when he was sleeping. In his dream he comes to the realization that the maiden is pitiless and she has no mercy. His dreams can be interpreted as if the knight subconsciously knew that the love wasn t real and that the maiden had already left him, and his mind has already started shifting the blame towards her. This mentally prepares the knight for the harsh reality that he has to face as he awakes. The dream might just be his rationalization; a way of making her out to be evil in order to cope with the pain of learning his love is unrequited, and in love there is despair. Despair is the state of having lost all hope, of finding oneself unable to believe life will ever be good again. The knight in La Belle Dame sans Merci falls into despair when he learns a relationship that seemed to be just starting has abruptly ended. His

In order to understand the religious content in Shakespeare s work it is helpful to first understand what the religious environment in England was like around Shakespeares time. England, ever since it was ruled by the Romans, had been a Catholic nation. Before Shakespeare s lifetime, a drastic change occurred that completely upended the existing Catholicism of the English people. During King HenryVIII s reign, the English people were, for the most part, content with Catholicism. Being a small town meant that these religious changes occurred more slowly and later than they did in London. As with the majority of English towns, Stratford did not welcome the reformations of their religion imposed by the state (Milward 17). In time, the town bore these mandated changes out of necessity. There is some evidence that Shakespeare s parents were Catholic before the Reformation and remained so at heart after it. John Shakespeare, William s father, held a high position in Stratford. At one point in his life, in order to receive a promotion, John had to take an oath that was anti Catholic in nature and affirmed Queen Elizabeth I as the head of the Church of England (Milward 18 19). Later in his life, when John s fortunes had slipped some, his attendance in Protestant meetings stopped (Milward 19). Other evidence of John s adherence to Catholicism comes from an archaeological find. A spiritual testament of John Shakespeare was found after his death. Spiritual testaments were popular among English Catholics of that time. They were professions of adherence to the Catholic faith (Milward 21). Shakespeare s mother, Mary, came from a devout Catholic family that held positions throughout the Catholic church before its demise in England (Milward 21). Shakespeare s family appears, at most, nominally Protestant, merely for the purpose of remaining a functioning part of Stratford (Milward 22). Once John s

One of William Shakespeare s most famous and commonly used quotes is an important juxtaposition to how Shakespeare wrote some of his plays, while it seems he did not believe as much in divine destiny or action, but in the action of oneself physically, and how that affects one s life. In both King Learand Measure For Measureby Shakespeare, there are three very important themes that were influenced by the times in which they were written justice, punishment, and mercy. The difference between the two is in first play, those three themes are completed in divine actions, while in the second play the trio are meted out by the actions of characters within the play. Punishment in the 1600 s was often a from of public entertainment in larger towns and cities, and was used to display and humiliate criminals. The acts committed by these criminals had a large range in severity, covering theft to sexual misdemeanors and treason. A common problem with these punishments though was consistency. Shakespeare was able to illustrate some of these inconsistencies in both of his plays Measure For Measure and King Lear. Shakespeare not only was able to provide a beautiful form of entertainment to all of the separate classes, while also appealing to educations of all levels and political and social issues without causing uproar; what he was able to do is a mastery of writing and understanding of the

Technology Standards For The Outsourcing Of The Software Technology Standards The first technology standard relating to the outsourcing of the software writing would be the Base Operating System. The two teams must decide on a base OS to be used. This will allow for easier sharing, troubleshooting, and future support of the product. This need for this standard is because most programing software packages offer solutions for Windows, Linux, Unix, MAC. The issue arises if one team is using one OS platform and the other is using another, even if they are using the same application to write the code there may be differences which could cause problems in future bug fixes. The idea of a standard platform goes beyond the writing suite and extends into all expects of the work. This primary standard will be a basis for all other applications chosen by the company from email to collaboration. The Second concern would be the level of encryption for the SSL VPN.
