The document discusses how a record label created complementary products - a video, digipak, and advert - that maintained a consistent brand identity. It created a logo that worked well across all products. The digipak and advert used similar front cover images to create brand recognition. All products strived to achieve the upbeat, bright tone of indie rock through lighting and avoided dark, gloomy tones. Elements like band imagery, fonts, and ordinary clothing on the video helped link all products and maintain a consistent star image and brand.

and ancillary texts? – Draft of text.
Before we started our video, digipak and advert we first had to create a record
label identity that we could then use on all 3 products in the form of a company
logo. This had to create a brand that out products could be associated with
therefore the logo design had to blend in well with the digipak and advert so the
logo didn’t look out of place on either.
For both our advert and digipak we used similar images as the front cover as we
felt it gave us some form of brand recognition. Had a person seen both our
digipak and our advert they would be able to establish that these two products
are of the same creator and purpose. This links with our record label as we
strived to achieve a similar feel with the company logo.
The indie rock genre in general is supposed to be quite upbeat and happy. Over
the products we created we wanted to recreate this through the use of bright
lighting on the images we used on what appeared to be a very dark set. There
was a similar feel with our video as we always tried to keep the lighting as light
as was necessary as we wanted to avoid a dark and gloomy tone so we could
stick to the genre conventions of indie rock. Between the three products we feel
we achieved this.
The title we use on the digipak and the advert, ’Foals”, is firstly paying homage to
the band who originally wrote the song we used however the band also have a
certain identity that we tried to recreate within our products. For example in
their videos they use a lot of close ups of the singer, so we used similar shots in
our video.
All three products needed to maintain a similar star image, on all three products
the band featured especially on the advert and digipak as the focal point of the
product. We wanted to give the impression that all of our products were
somehow linked. We achieved this by using similar fonts across all our products
this gives us a recognisable brand from the type of text we use and can be
associated with all of our products.
The Clothing we used on set was intended to represent what ordinary teenagers
would wear. We didn’t want to be to far fetched and have our actors wear
something too outrageous, we just needed them to look as plain and normal as
possible
