1. How does your product engage with audiences
and how would it be distributed as a real media
text?
Louis Isaacs
2. Promotion
✤ Television and Radio interviews
✤ Posters
✤ Billboards e.g. adverts on forms of Transport
✤ Generate hashtags for social media such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook
3. Soundtrack
✤ Available to stream on Apple Music, Deezer, Youtube, Spotify and other music streaming platforms
✤ Synergy, up and coming artists will create additional songs for the films soundtrack
✤ Other artists signed to the label that was backing my film.
✤ Artists whop would not traditionally collaborate together
✤ Vinyl release-nostalgic appeal
✤ Possibility of tours and concerts would follow
4. Audience Profile
✤ My film is targeting the B,C1,C2 and E acorn categories
and within those groups primarily teenagers and young
adults 15-30 with a large disposable income.
5. Genre and Audience
✤ The institutions which produces the text will use the idea of genre
in order to market their production to audiences.
✤ Specific targeted advertising e.g. following music programs such
as Xfactor
✤ Discussions on BBC radio and other talk shows like BBC Music or
Radio 4 (educated high-brow audience)
6. Audiences recognise and have
expectations of particular genres
✤ In order to attract audiences of other films within a
similar genre to mine, I would pay search engine such
as: Google, Yahoo or Bing to promote my film as a pop
up or top search when people search e.g. “Drums”
7. Distribution
✤ Local and International film festivals e.g. Cannes and Sundance,
Toronto
✤ Arthouse cinemas (limited release within the transatlantic region)
8. Online platforms PART 1:
✤ Netflix, Amazon Prime, ITunes and other steaming
services
In the words of Chris Anderson, "new media platforms such as Netflix are
the new way to watch films or tv series. Platforms such as Netflix and
Amazon Prime have unlimited, ‘shelf space’ - with a combination of niche
and high end films.”
9. Online platforms PART 2:
✤ The film would also be available on subscription only
based services such as Virgin or Sky, exactly one,
month after cinema release
10. Audience pleasure
✤ Recognition of familiar conventions together with the
addition of a number of challenges or differences for example.
11. Audience positioning
✤ The protagonist being a young boy will engage with audience as they will be
positioned to relate to this character through POV shots and will feel a sense of
identification with him.
