1. Question 3
WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION

MIGHT DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT AND WHY?
2. The types of media institution that may distribute
our media product would be small independent
production companies. This initially could be
institutions such as ‘Cinema City’. Cinema city is a
small independent institution, appealing to
European and alternative audiences. Also, I feel
our film is independent and isn’t a mainstream
production, therefore making it ideal for Cinema
City, who show low budget independent films.
However, as it only shows films to European
audiences could cause issues towards how much
money the film would turnover, and limits our
audience profile. Another company that would be
ideal for distributing our film would be Warp.
Warp is a British film company which started in
2001 which produces independent British made
films, and are always looking for creative new
films, similar to Cinema city.
3. Warp is presented and shown on
Facebook and Twitter, which relates
to my advertising idea of using social
networking sites in order to reach our
target audience .Our advertising
would primarily be done over social
networking sites, such as twitter and
Facebook. This is because our
audience is young people, and
generally younger people use social
networking sites, making the
advertising accessible and noticeable
to our audience.
4. Also, if our thriller opening was to be
posted on websites such as YouTube,
it would be easy for the film to
become very recognisable and
noticed in a short amount of time as
it’s a very popular website. I also think
that putting our film forward for a
non-mainstream competition could
also sell our film as it would make it
more well-known.

5. ‘Animal Kingdom’, which is a film
that our audience may enjoy, was
distributed at Cinema city. This
appealed to not only the target
audience of young people aged
16-25 but also to European and
elder audiences, it was also
advertised on social networking
sight – therefore appealing and
targeting young audiences, which is
similar to Angel Café.
