Smoking Is Bad For The Body
Did you know that three out of four teens in high school admit to doing or being addicted to drugs? A
majority of the teenagers today will more than likely face short or long term health issues from the
usage of drugs, preferably marijuana. What kind of short and long term health issues you may ask?
Well short term health issues would include drowsiness/relaxation; slowed reaction time; problems
with balance and coordination; increased heart rate and appetite; problems with learning and memory;
hallucinations; anxiety and panic attacks! On the other hand we have long term health issues which
include mental health problems, chronic cough, frequent respiratory infections. Smoking weed is a
problem among teenagers today that tend to take on health issues in the body such as danger to the
adolescent brain, symptoms of chronic bronchitis, lung irritation and reproduction effects. One reason
smoking weed is bad for the body is because it causes damage to the adolescent brain. The brain is the
command center of you body. It weighs about three pounds and has different centers or systems that
process different kinds of information. THC in marijuana affects the way that sensory information is
processed. THC is up to no good in the brain. THC finds brain cells, or neurons, with specific kinds of
receptors called cannabinoid receptors. Then, it binds to those receptors (Elaine Gottlleb, 2016).
Certain parts of the brain have high concentrations of cannabinoid receptors. These

Manifesto about Street Art
Art became an integral and most crucial thing in lives of most people. It helps people to represent their
feelings through their art works, whereas other people are using art in order to get profit. People are
learning arts in schools and universities and using it in their lives for different proposes. However, art
seems to be good for all people, there is only one type of it which is usually not welcomed in countries
Street art . According to Johan Slogan, Nowadays art (2010, 13 14), street art known to us as a graffiti
is a way of representing feelings by people from lower class who were discriminated or have their
own opinions for situation in the world. Street art has been declared as vandalism prohibited in most

Passing painted streets I often wonder why most people think that graffiti is vandalism?
In my opinion, professionally made graffiti is very beautiful. Graffiti is very popular throughout the
world. If it s done by really talented person , the pattern may become a work of art. Let s start with the
fact that graffiti transforms abandoned buildings , fences , telephone booths . Drawings must be drawn
on an old , dirty and ruined walls. It would be nice if we could have a special place for graffiti. In
addition, graffiti artists want to be heard , and they are trying to explain something to people . Painting
a picture , artists express themselves . They want to decorate this gray and boring world . In addition ,
there are some famous unusual paintings that are made by the best artists . When people look at these
colorful pictures on the buildings , they think of something warm and good.
Of course sometimes artists go beyond, but almost every graffiti has a deep meaning, and more often
the picture on the wall is the best way to arrange protest. Or do you really think that strike is better
than draw on the walls?
Imagine a city where graffiti wasn t illegal, a city where everybody drew whatever they liked. Where
every street was awash with a million colours and little

The Big Short Film
In the big short film there are a variety of communication aspects at play, the way the groups of people
interact within the film provide a variety of group settings varying from civic to professional. Within
the film there is also a variety of systems and institutions that have a web of dependency on different
teams and systems that are within the movie. The people interacting within the film often blur the line
between professional and civic groups, for example Mark Baum and his team of workers originally
start the film as a professional group. When his team is first introduced it portrays Mark as the boss of
the team with the different members of his office contributing to the overall team. For example you

My Day At The Dynasty Privileged School
Mother Nature must be happy , I thought as I walked through the sunlit streets of Paris. Too bad that I
don t share her mood. School at the Dynasty Privileged School had just dismissed, and right after the
bell, I shot out of my Pre Nuclear War History class, ran to my locker to deposit my heavy textbook in
it and grabbed my purse.
Thank the heavens that we don t have any homework today, besides the usual in French and English
Lit, because I could not have handled dragging those textbooks with me to my favorite internet cafe
again. I walked through the streets, noticing that without my schoolbag, I got a lot, and a lot different

The cashiers and the customers at the store noticed a nice, smiling girl, obediently following her father
around the store and helping him carry their purchases. What they didn t notice, however, was the
slight shuffle in the girl s step, or the way way that her father walked with his usual briskness while
she limped a couple steps behind.
They didn t notice that her smile was fake, her expression pained, and the deep, raging sadness in her
eyes every time her father dismissed her opinion or made a fake gagging sound at something she
wanted to buy. Nor did they notice how he didn t protest when the injured child put her hands on the
bag of groceries, offering to be the one to carry it to their vehicle; instead he just arrogantly nodded in
her direction, as if telling her to carry it.
The people around Alina didn t notice any of this. But she did. Not that she told anyone. If she told
anyone, even her mother; especially her mother; it was sure to spark up a fight with her dad again, and
deepen the unknown to anyone but themselves, rift growing between them.
No, Alina would not tell anybody. This would be another one of her dark secrets, kept to herself, and

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is an American political drama/ comedy film directed by Frank Capra

political system. The main character is Jefferson Smith, the newly appointed senator. Smith is the head
of the boy rangers in town and is appointed by Jim Taylor, the political boss of the state governor
Hubert Hopper. Senator Smith is looked after by Senior senator Joseph Paine, an old friend of Smith s

Bodies Decompose Of Forensic Entomology
Forensic entomology is the study of insects for medico legal purposes. There are many ways insects
can be used to help solve a crime, but the primary purpose of forensic entomology is estimating time
since death.Once a person dies his or her body starts to decompose. The decomposition of a dead body
starts with the action of microorganisms such as fungi and bacteria, followed by the action of a series
of insects (arthropods). Bodies decompose slowly or fast depending on weather conditions, if they
have been buried or are exposed to the elements, if there is presence of insects or if they have a
substance in their bodies that prevents their fast decomposition such as body size and weight,
clothing,The dead body goes through constant changes

The Darkness Of The Night
The slightly built woman dreaded the advancing darkness of the night as she stood solemnly by the
window, staring, but not actually seeing the rolling green hills of the Appalachian Mountains. Their
peaks dominated the landscape, rising high above the treetops. How she would love to escape over
their crests never to return.
In the distance, an encroaching curtain of gloom had begun to fall across the countryside. Lightning
bolts flashed brilliantly across the sky briefly brightening the room, as the loud rumble of thunder
shook the windows.
The damp air from the approaching rain blew through the open window and hung in the room with
humid, oppressive tension, bringing the potential for chaos along with a cleansing relief from the
relentless summer heat.
Worry and doubt cast a burden on her heart as the setting sun slowly seeped into the earth, drawing her
ever closer to despair.
Uneasy fingers ruffled through light brown hair, which flowed in long waves to her waist. Beautiful,
tear filled violet eyes reflected an intensity that was rare in someone so young.
One hand reached up hastily wiping a tear from her rosy cheek where a smattering of faint freckles ran
randomly across the bridge of her nose.
The bleakness of the threatening thunderclouds, chasing across the evening sky, matched the depth of
her encompassing depression.
It was Friday, and the coal miners would be converging on the local merchants to spend the small
amount of cash they received each week. The

Derivates in Market Essay
INTRODUCTION
amp;#8220;A derivative is like a razor, you can use it to shave and make yourself attractive for your
girlfriend, you can slit your throat with it or you can use it to commit suicide. amp;#8217;(Anon.) This
statement describes to us the problems, and on the other hand rewards, that the proper use of
derivatives can bring. The derivatives market has developed responding to the uncertainty about
prices, and therefore provided a means of separating out this price volatility. The tendency of the
market to move up or down in what appears to be a random manner has brought about the need for
financial products which will protect or hedge the investor against the ill effects of market volatility.

Holder of a futures contract is locked in an effective selling price therefore if he sells the contract
against their position and then sees the market go up rather than down, he cannot take advantage of
that upswing.
If an investor wishes to take advantage of favourable yields but is aware this may increase interest rate
exposure, the financial futures markets will provide an opportunity to hedge against possible loss.
Gearing effect of the margining system means investors can quickly loose 100% of their investment,
which wouldn amp;#8217;t be likely if they invested directly in bonds and shares.
Holder of the contract can enter an offsetting contract with the same delivery month as the original
contract and by this close out their position.
Purchaser is forced to go through with the futures contract even if this is detrimental to them as
mentioned earlier potential loss is unlimited.
Futures contracts can provide great gains or losses (symmetric risk )
Clearing House system guarantees that all contracts will be fulfilled.
Risk of default is very low and the absence of some risk along with the presence of low transaction
costs, ensures that the secondary market is highly liquid (i.e. A contract can be opened in one countries

Offers a cash efficient means of taking position in a market as futures are traded on margin. This

Changes in Web Standards
Throughout the last decade web developers have been experiencing changes in Web Standards as well
as a different markup language called HTML5. HTML5 a markup language used for structuring and
presenting content for the World Wide Web. HTML, or Hyper Text Markup Language forms the
backbone of almost every site on the internet. The most important technologies right now are HTML
and devices evolving HTML platforms (Anglin). Although HTML5 is the most recent updated markup
language today, it has many advantages and disadvantages when it comes to web development.
HTML4, the last major iteration of the language, debuted in 1997 and has been subsequently poked
and prodded so that it can handle the demands of the modern Web (O Brien). In order for web
developers to fully understand the meaning behind HTML5, throughout this article I will be
discussing why HTML5 is such a big deal, what it can actually do, the many advantages and
disadvantages, the benefits that favor HTML5, and arguments it has for the web today. Have you ever
found yourself rolling your eyes when a web designer or developer talked to you about HTML5, I
completely understand. So why is HTML5 such a big deal in web development today? As it turns out,
it really is something that s exciting and better and could really be worth investing into for your next
Web site project. HTML4 has been tweaked, stretched and augmented beyond its initial scope to bring
high levels of interactivity and multimedia to Web sites

Principles of Anti-lock Braking System
Principles of Anti lock Braking System The reason for the development of anti lock braking system is
very simple. Under braking, if one or more of a vehicle s wheels lock then this has a number of
consequences: a) braking distance increases, b) steering control is lost, and c) tire wear will be
uncommon. The tangible outcome is that an accident is more likely to occur. The application of brakes
creates a force that impedes a vehicles motion by applying a force in the opposite direction. During
severe braking scenarios, a point is obtained in which the tangential velocity of the tire surface and the
velocity on road surface are not the same such that an optimal slip which corresponds to the maximum
friction is obtained. The ABS controller must deal with the brake dynamics and the wheel dynamics as
a whole plant. A locked up wheel provides low road handling force and minimal steering force.
Therefore, the main benefit of ABS operation is to maintain directional control of the vehicle during
emergency braking. Anti lock Braking System Control The designer of the Anti lock Brake controller
has to face severe difficulties while designing the system: For optimal performance, the controller
must operate at an unstable equilibrium point Depending on road conditions, the maximum braking
torque may vary over a wide range The tire slippage measurement signal, critical for controller
performance, is both highly uncertain and noisy On rough roads, the tire slip ratio

Response To The Lottery
The story takes place in a village on June 27 where The Lottery began. Citizens of the village started
gathering around a box, filled with slips of paper. Already in the second paragraph of the story, it
hinted, Bobby Martin already stuffed his pockets full of stones , the action starts from the beginning as
to what are they going to do with those stones. The story describes how everyone is acting normal and
how they are just talking and laughing like they usually do. I think that even though they gave a hint
that the stoning will happen, there was still a hint before that quote. Just by the genre and how the title
is the Lottery it can either go really bad or really good. Jackson foreshadows this ending by telling the
reader about the stones in piles and pockets that people are protecting. He confuses the reader by
telling that everyone is talking and laughing like it was a normal day so you have to read on ... Show

There can be a different meaning to the word win , in their eyes in which it could mean, to secure as a
result of a contest . This example shows that the author uses a play on words so that it misleads you to
think it s an actual lottery. Since it is a dark genre and the story is called the lottery it gives the
impression that only one person or group will be chosen for something bad. The story is mainly
focused on a village where people choose a winner through a box that has slips of paper. These slips
of paper symbolize the equality among the villagers, in which they all have the same amount of a
chance to be stoned. This method was used back in ancient times and they still use it in the modern
day. The reason why is because of how they are so used to it that it has become a habit. No one wants
to step and say that they don t want to do it is because everyone else wants to and they don t care until

Imperialism In Latin America
The eighteenth and nineteenth centuries were marked by periods of decolonization, along with the
emergence of sovereign states. Among these areas to assert their independence in the nineteenth
century were the countries of Latin America. Yet, all the while fighting for, and eventually winning
their independence, problems began to arise over the idea of how to rule over a cohesive group of
people. Within Latin America existed a diverse group of inhabitants. The issue of how to rally and
celebrate as one culture, and who were the actual citizens were emerged to be complicated issues.
Therefore, in order to create a cohesive community, the countries of Latin America attempted to
banish any traces of their colonial rulers by using symbols and names to instill a new sense of
togetherness, and symbolize their new nation. Often used by the people of Latin America were pre
colonial symbols, and in later times heroes of the revolution were also used as a nationalistic rallying
point. Although patriotism may have been fairly easy to engender in its people, deciding on the rules

meanings changed as national and international contexts demanded (479). While many lived in Latin

In James McBride s The Color of Water, James talks about his school life and his mom s school life.
Both school lives were different and similar. To start off, both James and Ruth were the minority in
their own school. Even though Ruth was white, or light skinned, she was Jewish and that s what made
her different because most kids in her school were not jewish. Since she was the minority, it was easy
for kids to point that out and bully them for that. For example, one kid told Ruth, Hey Ruth, when did
you start being a dirty Jew? James was also the minority and bullied at school. He went to a Jewish
school which mostly consisted of light skinned people and since he was darker, kids took notice. One
time, they were learning about Black

Active Learning Reflection
1) Active Learning Small mentions that the best way for students to learn is not through memorization
of facts or procedures, but through group work and problem solving. The article states that through
active learning, students can use math to solve problems, develop their own ideas, and build upon the
ideas of others (Small 4). I agree with Small s thinking, as students do tend to benefit more when they
get the chance to share their ideas with others and observe their classmates work to see how similar or
different their thinking strategies are. This allows students to actively engage with the question (math
problem), learn how to problem solve, understand that there is more than one way to approach a
solution, think outside the box, as well as see how this problem can relate to topics outside the
classroom. I personally, never enjoyed group work. Throughout my experience in public school, my
teachers would always promote group activities, but there was never any guidance or instruction to it,
so the discussions would be unbeneficial and confusing (eg. People choose not to talk, did not know
what they were doing or had the same idea). 2) Using Manipulative s While growing up,
manipulatives were a tool that was commonly used in my classroom. Small states that manipulative
materials concrete representations of mathematical ideas is essential to developing mathematical
understanding (4). I believe that manipulatives are great tools, especially for younger students,

In all of Sherlock Holmes mysteries he uses observation and deductive reasoning to figure all of them

be in the basement of Mr. Wilsons shop. Mr. Spaulding got Mr. Wilson to get a job at the Red Headed

Cultural Tattoos Essay
Tattoos and Their Cultural Relevance
For as long as there have been people, there have been methods of distinction amongst them.
Throughout the years we have discovered ways in which to express our beliefs, our ideals, and our
passions. Tattooing has been one of forefront methods in expressing our humanity, or in certain cases,
our lack there of. For so many, they have taken on many different representations, each with an equal
level of significance. The importance found in the symbolism of tattoos and their cultural relevance

The defiant Japanese commoners covered themselves lavishly from their necks to their elbows, and
above the knees. The Japanese government looked upon this disturbance of the poor as subversive,
and outlawed tattoos in 1870. This is when the symbolism of tattoos in Japanese culture shifted. They
had gone from a representation of splendor, to one associated with Japanese crime. As a result,
tattooists were forced to retreat into the background of Japanese society. Luckily for them, the
Japanese gangster class in Japan known as the Ikuza, embraced this subculture with open arms. The
elaborately designed tattoos of the Ikuza depicted above, represented character traits the wearer
desired to emulate. A lion represented courage, while a carp was worn to emulate strength and
perseverance. Because the designs required long periods of pain, the act itself was looked upon as a
show of allegiance to the wearer s personal beliefs. Tattooing was also popular amongst Maori men of
New Zealand, who covered their buttocks, thighs, and faces. Maori men had their faces tattooed by a

Theatre Of Absurd Essay
After the Second World War, the people have suffered from corruption, frustration, and injustices that
lead them to prefer to isolate life alone. They have felt that life has lost its meaning and it becomes
useless. All that force them to be more aggressive and angry. All the political, economic and social
conditions at that time have forced people to feel lost. This feeling of loss makes group of playwrights
to create the Theater of Absurd.
The Theater of Absurd reflects the feeling of loneliness and isolation of people. The playwrights aim
to use meaningless plot, repetition, foolish dialogues, and absurd language to present the suffering of
people. All of their characteristics and techniques are new, as they revolt against all traditional forms

To be accurate, drama of anger has not begun in certain time or place. Any kind of violence, cruelty,
frustration or injustice can lead to produce anger.
This paper will give more attention to anger in twentieth century, especially in the period that follows
the Second World War which is called The Absurd . It is actually has begun in 1960.
The term The Theater of Absurd is coined by Martin Esslin (1918 2002), critic, to describe the theater
that is created by some European and American playwrights who has appeared in the of late1950s and
the early of 1960s such as Samuel Beckett (1906 89), Arthur Adamove (1908 1970), Harold Pinter
(1930 2008), and Edward Albee (1928 ).
Through this term, Esslin tries to show the sense of loss and uselessness of existence in the world
which the post war dramatists have felt. This movement known as The Theater of Absurd is not an
organized movement and has not any clear cut agenda Each of the main playwrights has developed
his/her style independently. Moreover, Esslin states that absurd originally means out of harmony (18

1) What was the key strategy that Navarro pursued from 1991 on to establish Exxel as a leading Latin
American private equity organization? How did Exxel differentiate itself from other private equity
competitors?
Juan Navarro, the former Chairman of Citigroup Capital Investors S.A. (CCI) in Buenos Aires,
founded the Exxel Group in 1991. Due to his family s influential background in Uruguayan and
Argentine political and financial establishments, as well as his own work with the CCI, Navarro was
well connected and highly experienced in the financial and political sectors, and in private equity

buyout firms and institutions. This was again for reasons of credibility as it assured both Latin
American and U.S. investors. Furthermore, it opened up more development opportunities for their
portfolio companies, as U.S. investors could transfer their experience from the American market to the
Argentine environment.
Exxel s fund devotion was mainly to invest in buyouts, recapitalizations, privatizations and mergers of
Argentine firms. Each fund was always devoted to a single transaction, which had the advantage of
being very focused on and informed about the transaction itself, as well as all corresponding
circumstances.
To differentiate itself from other private equity groups, Exxel built on Navarro s unique strength: his
ability to originate deals, based on his strong ties with local business community [!], and then to add
value to these enterprises . Exxel also put diligent work in their target selection. To maximize the
success rates, they first picked the most attractive industries, and then chose the best firms within
those industries.
To achieve an even stronger partnership with their portfolio companies, Navarro and his team would
then work on the development of a network of service

An Argument For An Organization
Unit one Question one Propose an argument for organizations to become multinational. Your response
should be at least 200 words in length. The main argument for organizations to become multination is
to operate their businesses in different countries so that they can diversify their market beyond the
national boundary. Multinational presence will enable the firms to operate their business activities in
different countries for acquiring benefits regarding business and technical efficiency (Collins, 2013).
This will reduce the cost of the product by obtaining cheap labor, tax advantage, large and untapped

1. About Kazakhstan: An Introduction
Kazakhstan is the largest ex Soviet Union state and the ninth largest country worldwide, but it is
sparsely populated with 17 million inhabitants (13th lowest population density worldwide). The
extractive sector, the backbone of the economy, is dominated by international companies, which
finance their activities from their foreign parent companies. Consequently, Kazakhstan has a high
level of private foreign debt. The state is strongly present in the economy. Its investment holding
company, Samruk Kazyna, holds assets to tilling 50% of GDP, divided over the oil, gas and financial
sectors. The participation in the financial sector is a consequence of a bail out after the 2009 crisis,
when the banking sector was overhauled. China is the most important business partner for Kazakhstan
due to its share in trade and investments (China currently holds 24% of the oil sector).

Those that fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it (Churchill). The book Hitler s Last Days:
The Death of the Nazi Regime and the World s Most Notorious Dictator, by Bill O Reilly, details the
last days of the most reviled and evil man in history: Adolf Hitler. Most of the book is focused inside
the bunker where Hitler is weakened by a failed assassination attempt, while German soldiers were
camouflaged and quietly traveling their way through the Ardennes Forest in Luxembourg in an effort
to win the war. It also provides insight into the minds of the brave men who dared to fight and the
generals that led them. It gives specific details about the last desperate attempt of Hitler to turn the tide
of the war and keep Germany away ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only was Hitler s heart evil, but the fate of the world now hinged on the battle mistakes of an
obsessed maniacal dictator. Despite recent setbacks on the battlefield, the war was far from over, and
Hitler was totally convinced he was going to win the war. He devised a plan that he thought was sure
to work: a surprise attack that will push the Allied armies back across France and will allow Germany
to regain control of Europe (O Reilly 9). The fact that the Allied Forces lacked gas for their tanks,
bullets for their guns; food, and proper clothing energized Hitler into thinking that his plan might just
work (O Reilly 24). Additionally, the Germans moved their troops to locations where the US lines of
defense were the thinnest and the weakest due to the woods and where German soldiers outnumbered
Americans troops two to one (O Reilly 30). In places like the Ardennes Forest in Luxembourg,
Americans were outnumbered five to one. The Americans and Allied Forces became depressed; yet
they knew they had to hold the line at all costs. Because if they don t, Hitler s crazy gamble in the
Ardennes just might succeed (O Reilly 48). Hitler was having some startling successes, but the longer
the war went on, the more out of touch Hitler became with the realities on the ground. He ignored the
evidence because he was so certain that he was right. The first tactical mistake Hitler made was to

Demographic and Environmental Timeline
Demographic transition is the process by which a nation/country moves from high birth rate and high
death rates to low birth and low death rates as the growth population in the interim (Weeks, 2005).
Some of the nations that have gone through this transitions are; Canada, Germany, United States and
England. The demographic transition to an industrialized society is harmful to the environment.
Industrialized countries also have the largest ecological and carbon footprint comparative to
developing/non industrialized nations. Nevertheless, demographic transitions have some notable
advantages. Countries that have gone through demographic transitions have low birth and death rates.

Hitler can reduce the number of unemployment from 6 million in 1933 to 2.6 million in December
1934. Additionally, women are encouraged to venture into businesses.
Changing Population Size: With the signing of Versailles treaty in 1919, the population size is on the
increase as the country is stable due to the peaceful agreement. Besides, the nation is becoming
industrialized as it started some activities such as mining hence people are confident of residing in
Germany.
Birth and Death Rates: During this period, there are high birth rates compared to death rates following
the end of the world wars. Peace is slowly coming in the country thus encouraging women to bear
children once more.
Environmental Impact: Environmental impact is on the increase due to Industrialization. The nation is
advancing slowly in technology.
Stage 3 1960 Major Historical Changes: The East Germany government erects a wall to prevent its
citizens from going to West Germany. Another historical change was the voting system that changed
the voting age from 21 to 18 years (Coy, 1970). The Social Democratic Federal Chancellor Willy
Brandt leads the West in easing tension with the East. He kneels in Warsaw before the memorial for
the victims of Jewish uprising as a symbol of a German plea for reconciliation. However, subsequent
terrorist acts followed which made Germany to debate on the usage of Atomic Weapons. The Berlin

The Innocence of the Devil by Nawal El Saadawi
In this novel, the reader (including myself) should have sympathy for Ganat and Narguiss. I felt
horrible for both of these characters in the novel. Ganat was the proud and defiant woman who was
physically attractive. Narguiss was the head nurse in the asylum who was Ganat s best friend. I had
sympathy for Ganat and Narguiss because of what they had to go through in the novel. Ganat was
accused for being born with her eyes wide open, not wearing a veil and supporting Satan. The judge
that tried her was an oppressive man and sent her to an asylum for treatment. I thought it was injustice
that Ganat had no say in what was accused of her. Having wide open eyes when born was in no way
Ganat s fault yet she was punished for it, simply unbelievable! I understand that in the Islamic culture,
a women needs to keep their head down but what does a new born infant know about culture/religion?
I can actually relate to Ganat s predicament she had about being born with her eyes wide open. My
family friend gave birth to a baby girl who was had a darker skin tone than anyone else in the family
and the father hated baby girl because of it. He said Indian girls are fair not dark skinned. He ended up
beating his wife for giving birth to a
dark skinned baby and kicked her and the baby out of the house. I don t see why it was the mother s or
even the baby s fault that she was a darker shade when the father himself was dark. This goes to show
how culture can really impact someone and

Healthy living is having a balanced lifestyle to improve people s health and well being. Unhealthy
living is engaging in activities that can potentially harm ones health. Obesity and heart disease are two
of the many illnesses associated with an unbalanced lifestyle. The benefits of a healthy lifestyle are
amazing compared to those who have an unhealthy lifestyle. There are long term and short term
benefits for having a healthy lifestyle such as, longevity and mood improvement.

Research suggests that weight training helps combat: osteoporosis, sarcopenia, diabetes, heart disease,
and cancer (Winett Carpinelli, 2001).
Diet: Restricted fried food.
Diet is essential to having a healthy lifestyle. The body needs key nutrients from different foods to
help the body function properly. Fried food is very unhealth due to the high calorie content and fried
foods have very few nutritional value. If frying foods cannot be balanced it can be detrimental to one s
health. Not only does fried foods have physical effects on the body, it also can cause mental effects
according to The British Journal of Psychiatry (Akbaraly, et al., 2009). They found that, processed
food dietary pattern is a risk factor for CES D depression (Akbaraly, et al., 2009). The short term
benefit of eliminating fried foods and process food can help reduce the chances of depression. In
addition, studies show that fried foods are linked to laryngeal cancer according to Cancer research in
the Uk (Bosetti, et al., 2002). The long term benefit of eliminating fried foods and process food can
help reduce the chances of cancer. Water intake: Restrict high sugar beverages
¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ A good diet not only includes what people eat, but what people drink as well. Staying away
from drinks with high sugar content can prevent health risks. Water is the healthiest drink one can
consume. The benefits of staying away from sugary drinks and drinking water is astounding.

myths about the battery on smartphones Along with the development of smartphones, not to miss the
battery also underwent development as complementary resources on Smartphones, which indirectly
old tips or knowledge about old battery also underwent changes. And there are still many who believe
the old myths about the extended battery on a smartphone or any other electronic device. What are the
myths?
Myth: empty the battery before charging it again Statements like this are often times we hear or read,
but it does not apply to battery technology at this time, empty the battery to full fill it back up.

Myth: Charging The Battery Overnight Can Shorten Battery Usage This myth is similar to the
calibration, it used to be possible in this way can damage the battery with overcharging , or let the
battery fully charged all the time. On the type of Li ion battery of antiquity, if too long is plugged in it
will be overheating or it could cause an explosion (in some cases). That will ultimately reduce the
capacity of the load and the battery lifespan.
But then again, these days the charger and smartphone is smart enough to prevent this from
happening. Charging too long indeed still can cause degradation on battery life, but with the
technology now, it can be prevented and minimized as much as possible, keep the battery between
20% 80%, with this proven way will extend battery life itself. And the good news is the charge the
battery overnight when Oprekers sleep, even to the full, not much effect negatively to the battery at
this time is different on the battery in the old

Exploring Terrorism And Terrorism
Module two highlighted the need for a greater understanding of how to recognize terrorism and what
resources can be utilized to strengthen communities. A strong capability to perform hazard and threat
assessments can go a long way in helping a community take preventive and protective measure in the
fight against terrorism. Fighting terrorism is a combination of several tools and activities aimed at
improving response capabilities and reducing the risks from attacks.
Activities to measure and improve capabilities can come in the form of prevention, protection,
response, recovery and mitigation. Each of these areas is designed to address a specific set of
capabilities, or core capabilities, aimed at creating a better more effective method ... Show more

When stakeholders use the combined tools and guidance such as the NRF and the CPG 101, better
measures can be taken to improve a community s preparedness level and reduce the risks associated
with a terrorist attack. The NRF and CPG 101 are two parts to a larger arsenal of federal guidance that
is provided by FEMA. One key element to maximizing the effectiveness of plans and planning tools is
the incorporation of an assessment processes. Key assessment processes should include the following
steps to be successful:
1. Identify the list of hazards and threats that may impacts a community.
2. Utilize a scenario to describe the hazards and threats and show how they may impact a community.
3. Conduct an assessment on each hazard and threat to determine a measurable benchmark to achieve
a basic level of capability. Define the capability target or goal.
4. Determine the resources required to reach the capability target based on current (available)
resources and assets.
These four basic steps are the essential pieces to the Threat and Hazard Identification Risk Assessment
or THIRA. THIRA is a leading step by step methodology to help communities determine where
planning gaps exist in the identification and management of hazards. The heart of THIRA is its simple
structure that allows communities to identify desired outcomes, determine capability targets, and
apply resources to help meet those targets. FEMA describes

Definition Essay – Different Meanings of Private
Definition Essay Different Meanings of Private
Property is a central economic institution of any society, and private property is the central institution
of a free society. This was a quote by David Friedman (Friedman). The word dealt with in this essay is
private and this quote exactly examines one of the prime meanings of private. The main aim of my
essay is to explain the different meanings of the word private and to explain the significance and
variations of its usage over the past decades.
My research regarding the meaning of the word private was accounted from three dictionaries. The
three dictionaries that have been selected are Webster s New World dictionary of the American
language (1961), Webster An American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third one was A soldier below the rank of a non commissioned officer. Here private is used as an
abbreviation. Now though the meaning of the word private as already stated above are similar to the
meanings listed in the dictionaries, However a noticable change in pattern for implying the meaning
through the decades in these dictionaries.
One major thing that will not go unnoticed is that the dictionaries of the latter half have more sets of
sub meanings for the word and are also less descriptive than the one in the earlier times. For example
in the 1844 edition Webster dictionary it is stated that one meaning of private is properly, separate;
unconnected with others, hence peculiar to ones self; belonging to or concerning to an individual only
and on the contrary in the OED of 1989, the same implies not open to the public, intended only for the
use of private and privileged persons, that belongs to or is the property of a particular individual;
belonging to oneself, ones own. Here we can see what has been just stated. The meaning of the word
private in the OED is not very descriptive but is more like an order of sub points.
Private in day to day life has two major uses and the use depends on the context that the word is being
used. Private could be used in suggesting someone s privacy or it could imply an organization which
is not public. Like in colleges, dorm rooms, houses people tend to use this word in

How Did Florence Nightingale s Impact On Nursing And...
Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern day nursing, has had a huge impact on
professionalization and standardization throughout the years. In 1820, Florence Nightingale was born
into the aristocratic social sphere and it was the aristocratic woman who visited and brought comfort
to the sick and poor. In 1850, Nightingale began her training as a nurse at the institute of St. Vincent
de Paul at Alexandria, Egypt. When she was about thirty five years old she gathered a small group of
untrained woman to the British hospital where wounded soldiers rested during the Crimean war and
provided organization and cleaning of the hospital and provided care for the wounded soldiers.
Following the Crimean war, she founded the first training school for Nurses at St. Thomas Hospital in
London in 1860, and that would become the model for nursing education in the United States.

After the civil war, formal education and training began to grow and nursing training schools also
began to emerge. After this time, in the early twentieth century, the institution of state licensure for
nurses began and was a huge breakthrough. In 1903, permissive licensure laws for nursing emerged in
North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, and Virginia as a result of the ICN passing a resolution asking
each country and state to provide for licensure. By 1923, all states required unstandardized
examinations for pre licensure but it wasn t until 1930 that New York became the first state to hold
mandatory licensure but wasn t fully enforced until 1947. In 1950 the NLN assumed responsibility for
administering the first nationwide state test pool

Basketball Games Should Be Taught At The University Of Kansas
Each year across colleges in the United States, college students, alumni, and diehard fans crowd into
sports arenas at least once a week starting in November until February. These crowds are celebrating
and cheering for their college men s basketball teams. For the University of Kansas, this arena is the
historic Allen Fieldhouse. It is consistently ranked the most difficult venue to play basketball in the
Big 12 Conference, and holds the second largest crowd of the ten university teams in the Big 12 with
the capacity for 16,300 fans (Medcalf para. 21). The students attending the University of Kansas have

For KU students, upholding this advantage is no challenge. Through signs, songs, and chants, the
student section creates an intimidating environment for the opponents, while showing their undying
support for the Jayhawk players. Traditions begin as early as two hours before tip off when the student
doors are opened and allow the players peers to rush in for a spot close to the court. The sections
reserved for students are the lower sections behind both goals, and the northwest corner of Allen
Fieldhouse. The band begins playing a melody of popular songs 45 minutes before the game begins.
By now, the stands are already filled to capacity, and the general admission ticket holders begin filing
in. There is a lot of casual conversation between the students, only to be interrupted when the band
plays certain songs; students yell out Tequila! during the song Tequila by The Champs, and sing along
to the entirety of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. These songs are fun traditions, but the more deeply
rooted KU tradition concerning music is the singing of the Alma Mater before the game begins. The
Alma Mater is a modified version of Crimson and the Blue to only include the first verse and the
chorus. Students wrap their arms around each other and sway side to side. They bellow out the song as
a guest performer sings over the sound system. At the end of the song comes the lyric Hail to old KU,
which signals the students to point to the sky with both arms which forms a

After the holiday was over, it was hard for her to get back to the institutional life in residential school.
There was strict discipline at the school. For example, there were certain times of the day when
students had to adhere to the rules of the bell: to get up in the morning, to go to chapel, to go to eat, to
go to the classroom, to signify playtime and recess, and to go to bed. In addition, each of the students
had chores to do. Everyone had to clean the school. When the principal came to the school, the
students had to know how to set a table properly with damask table cloths. When the students did not
follow the rules, they would be punished brutally. Some of the penalties led students in the school to
dead. There were also a lot of health problems in residential schools due to the large number of
students. (2011, 2) Another example from people, who lived in the school, is an article from Beverley

Complexity Of Airplane Essay
The dream of flight is as old as mankind itself (Leonardo DaVinci, April 14, 1489)however, the
concept of an airplane is only a few centuries old. airplanes are the only vehicle that make traveling
hundreds of miles a task that can be done in just one to two hours. Trucks, boats or even race cars can
t even come close to the speed of the average commercial aircraft. The Complexity of the plane dates
back to many years of researching about the four forces and creating an aerodynamic flight
method(National Aeronautics Space Administration, 2006, Pg. 2). Leonardo DaVinciand the Wright
brothers were just a small few of the first plane pioneers.
The very first step made towards flight was Leonardo DiVinci s Ornithopter . TheOrnithopter was a
self propelled wing suit that attempted to mimic the flight of birds and bats.(Wright Brothers, 1999,
Page 7) DaVinci wanted the device to allow people to propel themselves and allow them to fly. The
problem was that the Ornithopterwas to heavy and could not fly. ... Show more content on

Drag is the force that pulls an airplane backwards. With too much drag an airplane will not be able to
fly forwards. However, with too little drag an airplane will not be able to correctly balance.(NASA,
2015, Pg 17.) Although a plane tries to overcome drag, it actually creates it.(Wright Brothers Int,
2001,) Anything that flies will create drag, the bigger the object the more the drag. To overcome drag,
an airplane is designed to be able to cut through the air.(NASA, 2015, Pg 1.) The best example of this
is in the wings. Wings on a plane tend to have a design that is thin and sharp in the front and gets
thicker as it moves down. Planes also have a very sharp nose(very front tip of the plane) along with a
pointed rudder (the tail of an airplane).(NASA, 2015, Pg. 3)Having all of these pointed parts allows an
airplane tominimise the amount of drag it has, ultimately allowing it to

  • 2. Smoking Is Bad For The Body Did you know that three out of four teens in high school admit to doing or being addicted to drugs? A majority of the teenagers today will more than likely face short or long term health issues from the usage of drugs, preferably marijuana. What kind of short and long term health issues you may ask? Well short term health issues would include drowsiness/relaxation; slowed reaction time; problems with balance and coordination; increased heart rate and appetite; problems with learning and memory; hallucinations; anxiety and panic attacks! On the other hand we have long term health issues which include mental health problems, chronic cough, frequent respiratory infections. Smoking weed is a problem among teenagers today that tend to take on health issues in the body such as danger to the adolescent brain, symptoms of chronic bronchitis, lung irritation and reproduction effects. One reason smoking weed is bad for the body is because it causes damage to the adolescent brain. The brain is the command center of you body. It weighs about three pounds and has different centers or systems that process different kinds of information. THC in marijuana affects the way that sensory information is processed. THC is up to no good in the brain. THC finds brain cells, or neurons, with specific kinds of receptors called cannabinoid receptors. Then, it binds to those receptors (Elaine Gottlleb, 2016). Certain parts of the brain have high concentrations of cannabinoid receptors. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, art seems to be good for all people, there is only one type of it which is usually not welcomed in countries Street art . According to Johan Slogan, Nowadays art (2010, 13 14), street art known to us as a graffiti is a way of representing feelings by people from lower class who were discriminated or have their own opinions for situation in the world. Passing painted streets I often wonder why most people think that graffiti is vandalism? In my opinion, professionally made graffiti is very beautiful. Graffiti is very popular throughout the world. If it s done by really talented person , the pattern may become a work of art. Let s start with the fact that graffiti transforms abandoned buildings , fences , telephone booths . Drawings must be drawn on an old , dirty and ruined walls. It would be nice if we could have a special place for graffiti. In addition, graffiti artists want to be heard , and they are trying to explain something to people . Painting a picture , artists express themselves . They want to decorate this gray and boring world . In addition , there are some famous unusual paintings that are made by the best artists . When people look at these colorful pictures on the buildings , they think of something warm and good. Of course sometimes artists go beyond, but almost every graffiti has a deep meaning, and more often the picture on the wall is the best way to arrange protest. Or do you really think that strike is better than draw on the walls? Imagine a city where graffiti wasn t illegal, a city where everybody drew whatever they liked. The Big Short Film In the big short film there are a variety of communication aspects at play, the way the groups of people interact within the film provide a variety of group settings varying from civic to professional. Within the film there is also a variety of systems and institutions that have a web of dependency on different teams and systems that are within the movie. The people interacting within the film often blur the line between professional and civic groups, for example Mark Baum and his team of workers originally start the film as a professional group. School at the Dynasty Privileged School had just dismissed, and right after the bell, I shot out of my Pre Nuclear War History class, ran to my locker to deposit my heavy textbook in it and grabbed my purse. Thank the heavens that we don t have any homework today, besides the usual in French and English Lit, because I could not have handled dragging those textbooks with me to my favorite internet cafe again. The cashiers and the customers at the store noticed a nice, smiling girl, obediently following her father around the store and helping him carry their purchases. What they didn t notice, however, was the slight shuffle in the girl s step, or the way way that her father walked with his usual briskness while she limped a couple steps behind. They didn t notice that her smile was fake, her expression pained, and the deep, raging sadness in her eyes every time her father dismissed her opinion or made a fake gagging sound at something she wanted to buy. Nor did they notice how he didn t protest when the injured child put her hands on the bag of groceries, offering to be the one to carry it to their vehicle; instead he just arrogantly nodded in her direction, as if telling her to carry it. The people around Alina didn t notice any of this. But she did. Not that she told anyone. If she told anyone, even her mother; especially her mother; it was sure to spark up a fight with her dad again, and deepen the unknown to anyone but themselves, rift growing between them. No, Alina would not tell anybody. This would be another one of her dark secrets, kept to herself, and cried over in the deepest, darkest parts of night, in the private sanctuary of her room. • 8. The Darkness Of The Night The slightly built woman dreaded the advancing darkness of the night as she stood solemnly by the window, staring, but not actually seeing the rolling green hills of the Appalachian Mountains. Their peaks dominated the landscape, rising high above the treetops. How she would love to escape over their crests never to return. In the distance, an encroaching curtain of gloom had begun to fall across the countryside. Lightning bolts flashed brilliantly across the sky briefly brightening the room, as the loud rumble of thunder shook the windows. The damp air from the approaching rain blew through the open window and hung in the room with humid, oppressive tension, bringing the potential for chaos along with a cleansing relief from the relentless summer heat. Worry and doubt cast a burden on her heart as the setting sun slowly seeped into the earth, drawing her ever closer to despair. Uneasy fingers ruffled through light brown hair, which flowed in long waves to her waist. Beautiful, tear filled violet eyes reflected an intensity that was rare in someone so young. One hand reached up hastily wiping a tear from her rosy cheek where a smattering of faint freckles ran randomly across the bridge of her nose. The bleakness of the threatening thunderclouds, chasing across the evening sky, matched the depth of her encompassing depression. It was Friday, and the coal miners would be converging on the local merchants to spend the small amount of cash they received each week. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Derivates in Market Essay INTRODUCTION amp;#8220;A derivative is like a razor, you can use it to shave and make yourself attractive for your girlfriend, you can slit your throat with it or you can use it to commit suicide. amp;#8217;(Anon.) This statement describes to us the problems, and on the other hand rewards, that the proper use of derivatives can bring. The derivatives market has developed responding to the uncertainty about prices, and therefore provided a means of separating out this price volatility. HTML5 a markup language used for structuring and presenting content for the World Wide Web. HTML, or Hyper Text Markup Language forms the backbone of almost every site on the internet. The most important technologies right now are HTML and devices evolving HTML platforms (Anglin). Although HTML5 is the most recent updated markup language today, it has many advantages and disadvantages when it comes to web development. HTML4, the last major iteration of the language, debuted in 1997 and has been subsequently poked and prodded so that it can handle the demands of the modern Web (O Brien). In order for web developers to fully understand the meaning behind HTML5, throughout this article I will be discussing why HTML5 is such a big deal, what it can actually do, the many advantages and disadvantages, the benefits that favor HTML5, and arguments it has for the web today. Have you ever found yourself rolling your eyes when a web designer or developer talked to you about HTML5, I completely understand. So why is HTML5 such a big deal in web development today? • 11. Principles of Anti-lock Braking System Principles of Anti lock Braking System The reason for the development of anti lock braking system is very simple. Under braking, if one or more of a vehicle s wheels lock then this has a number of consequences: a) braking distance increases, b) steering control is lost, and c) tire wear will be uncommon. The tangible outcome is that an accident is more likely to occur. The application of brakes creates a force that impedes a vehicles motion by applying a force in the opposite direction. During severe braking scenarios, a point is obtained in which the tangential velocity of the tire surface and the velocity on road surface are not the same such that an optimal slip which corresponds to the maximum friction is obtained. The ABS controller must deal with the brake dynamics and the wheel dynamics as a whole plant. A locked up wheel provides low road handling force and minimal steering force. Therefore, the main benefit of ABS operation is to maintain directional control of the vehicle during emergency braking. Anti lock Braking System Control The designer of the Anti lock Brake controller has to face severe difficulties while designing the system: For optimal performance, the controller must operate at an unstable equilibrium point Depending on road conditions, the maximum braking torque may vary over a wide range The tire slippage measurement signal, critical for controller performance, is both highly uncertain and noisy On rough roads, the tire slip ratio ... • 12. Response To The Lottery The story takes place in a village on June 27 where The Lottery began. Citizens of the village started gathering around a box, filled with slips of paper. Already in the second paragraph of the story, it hinted, Bobby Martin already stuffed his pockets full of stones , the action starts from the beginning as to what are they going to do with those stones. The story describes how everyone is acting normal and how they are just talking and laughing like they usually do. I think that even though they gave a hint that the stoning will happen, there was still a hint before that quote. Just by the genre and how the title is the Lottery it can either go really bad or really good. Jackson foreshadows this ending by telling the reader about the stones in piles and pockets that people are protecting. He confuses the reader by telling that everyone is talking and laughing like it was a normal day so you have to read on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There can be a different meaning to the word win , in their eyes in which it could mean, to secure as a result of a contest . This example shows that the author uses a play on words so that it misleads you to think it s an actual lottery. Since it is a dark genre and the story is called the lottery it gives the impression that only one person or group will be chosen for something bad. The story is mainly focused on a village where people choose a winner through a box that has slips of paper. These slips of paper symbolize the equality among the villagers, in which they all have the same amount of a chance to be stoned. This method was used back in ancient times and they still use it in the modern day. The reason why is because of how they are so used to it that it has become a habit. • 13. Imperialism In Latin America The eighteenth and nineteenth centuries were marked by periods of decolonization, along with the emergence of sovereign states. Among these areas to assert their independence in the nineteenth century were the countries of Latin America. Yet, all the while fighting for, and eventually winning their independence, problems began to arise over the idea of how to rule over a cohesive group of people. Within Latin America existed a diverse group of inhabitants. The issue of how to rally and celebrate as one culture, and who were the actual citizens were emerged to be complicated issues. Therefore, in order to create a cohesive community, the countries of Latin America attempted to banish any traces of their colonial rulers by using symbols and names to instill a new sense of togetherness, and symbolize their new nation. Often used by the people of Latin America were pre colonial symbols, and in later times heroes of the revolution were also used as a nationalistic rallying point. Both school lives were different and similar. To start off, both James and Ruth were the minority in their own school. Even though Ruth was white, or light skinned, she was Jewish and that s what made her different because most kids in her school were not jewish. Since she was the minority, it was easy for kids to point that out and bully them for that. For example, one kid told Ruth, Hey Ruth, when did you start being a dirty Jew? James was also the minority and bullied at school. He went to a Jewish school which mostly consisted of light skinned people and since he was darker, kids took notice. • 15. Active Learning Reflection 1) Active Learning Small mentions that the best way for students to learn is not through memorization of facts or procedures, but through group work and problem solving. The article states that through active learning, students can use math to solve problems, develop their own ideas, and build upon the ideas of others (Small 4). I agree with Small s thinking, as students do tend to benefit more when they get the chance to share their ideas with others and observe their classmates work to see how similar or different their thinking strategies are. The Japanese government looked upon this disturbance of the poor as subversive, and outlawed tattoos in 1870. This is when the symbolism of tattoos in Japanese culture shifted. They had gone from a representation of splendor, to one associated with Japanese crime. As a result, tattooists were forced to retreat into the background of Japanese society. Luckily for them, the Japanese gangster class in Japan known as the Ikuza, embraced this subculture with open arms. The elaborately designed tattoos of the Ikuza depicted above, represented character traits the wearer desired to emulate. A lion represented courage, while a carp was worn to emulate strength and perseverance. Because the designs required long periods of pain, the act itself was looked upon as a show of allegiance to the wearer s personal beliefs.
