Joining Cults
Former Members Perception of Cult Movement, is a study researched and done by Dr. Carmen
Almendros, Dr. Jose A. Carrobles and Dr. Alvaro Rodriguez Carballeira. The research paper was
published online under the ICSA ( International Cultic Studies Association), a non profitable anti
cult organization, in 2007 in Volume six of the Cultic Studies Review. As the title of the study
states, the research was used to find the perception of former cultic members before and during their
involvement in the cultic group. The research paper goes in depth about the factors that influences
people to join cults, and as well as delve in the topic of previous mental health seekers and the
impact on them when joining these cults.
Unfortunately, the hypothesis wasn t clearly mentioned in the research paper. However, it could be
easily predicted that the hypothesis is surrounding the topic that most people who join cults believe
that the cults are morally good and healthy for them. The prediction is based on the fact that the
articles states that most cultic members are derived from normal family environments instead of
having a troubled past. Also, the researcher focuses on the attitudes of joining a cult, which in the
interview ranged from, strong desire to join, I don t know it arose , and I was ... Show more content

important tool used in cults. Intimate Relationships was considered to be the least psychologically

Eternal Challenges throughout Life
Throughout the history of human development, almost every process brings benefits as well as
drawbacks, and social development is no exception. Residing in an efficient society, balancing
environment protection and social development can be quite a dilemma. As Anna Quindlen says
in the book , Our Animal Rites, You can t stop progress, especially if it s traveling 65 miles an
hour. people cannot put off social development. At the same time, the earth is where humans are
living and deserves more attention, since their environment has already been degrading. Both the
environment protection and social development are important, so when people are contemplating
possible solutions, considering the detrimental and beneficial impact on both sides is necessary.
Therefore, a lot of new challenges occur for they are not easily solved because there are always
conflicts in different solutions. Among all the challenges, economy and technology are the two
most significant out of all the challenges. Environmental problems caused by pesticides issues,
which alarmed people shockingly by the book Silence Spring, written by Rachel Carson, need to
be dealt with those two challenges. In the article A Fable for Tomorrow from the book Silence
Spring, Rachel Carson assumes the probable consequences of overusing pesticides. She imagines a
town where all life seemed to live in harmony with its surroundings. Then, an unknown disaster
sweeps through the town. The vegetables wither, livestock

Breaking The Five-Paragraph-Theme Barrier By Thomas Nunnally
In Breaking the Five Paragraph Theme Barrier professor Thomas Nunnally describes his experience
teaching the popular writing tool. The five paragraph theme requires an introductory paragraph,
three middle paragraphs that each have their own ideas, and a concluding paragraph. Nunnally
believes that this writingmodel should only be used as a writing tool and not the backbone to all
essays (Nunnally). I agree with Nunnally s stance, but also think that by the age of sixteen, students
should no longer be given the opportunity to rely on the model for writing opportunities. **
The five paragraph theme was created to be a general teaching tool for inexperience writers. It
allows the writers to easily formulate a structure essay. It tells you that you only need three
supporting details for your thesis and that each do not need to be in depth. Most teachers say that
a paragraph is only roughly 4 5 sentences long. As a result, if every paragraph is short then you re
only writing approximately 20 25 sentences. A writer can easily follow the structure given and
finish an essay in a well timely manner. The model is effective for beginners, but ineffective for
professionals (Nunnally).
Until a certain point, the model is effective for writers. It is a practical, easy template that allows a
writer to quickly set up and then write an essay, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nunnally states its purpose to provide[s] for effective inculcation of concepts such as unity,
coherence, and development (Nunnally). The model is structured to unite each paragraph to each
other by using a thesis statement paragraph, three supporting paragraphs for said idea and finally,
to summarize your essay. The use of transitional words allows the author to smoothly connect each
paragraph and idea. Finally, the model develops chronologically. The author will introduce, prove
and conclude. The five paragraph model fulfills its purpose for the inexperienced writers

The Cure For Anything Is Salt Water
As Isak Dinesen famously states in Seven Gothic Tales, The cure for anything is salt water tears,
sweat, or the sea. Paradoxically, since the days of ancient creation epics, the sea has been a
symbol of chaos and danger; clearly, water takes on these characteristics in the terrifying ocean
in The Awakening and in the river that swallows Virginia Woolf in The Hours. Yet for each
major character in the two novels, water yields lucidity in its wake; it is the cure that brings
closure to each story and enlightenment to each woman. Water, in many forms, affects every
major character in [oh god what s a synonym for the two novels ]. Fears of submersion,
overpowering tears, visions of deep sea creatures, and baptismal deaths all seep into the pages of
the two novels. In some cases, water is clearly something to be avoided; take, for example, Laura
Brown s reluctance to begin her tasks as a housewife in the morning. She must [summon]
resolve, as if she were about to dive into cold water (41) just to put down her book, because there
is more passion and promise in Virginia Woolf s words than in her own existence. For Clarissa
Vaughn, too, water invokes feelings of discomfort; as she steps from her home onto the streets of
Greenwich Village, she pauses at the threshold as she would at the edge of a pool, watching the
turquoise water lapping at the tiles, the liquid nets of sun wavering in the blue depths (9). She
admires the freshness of the morning, [delaying] for a

3 Major Human Resource Issues in Australia
Executive Summary This assignment is a portfolio, based on three current topics in Human
Resource Management. The common theme of all the media articles I reviewed is the recognition
of people as an asset by the organisations to achieve their strategic goals and objectives. It is
observed that organisations are directing their efforts to recruit, retain and develop this asset. On
reviewing the media articles, I have summarised the current HR issues in the following topics.
В•Employee retention: A Link with the Bottom Line В•Aging workforce: A determinant in HRP
В•Training Development: A powerful HRD strategy * The media articles are not attached however
the REFERECES section contains complete references for each article.... Show more content on

George Bank has recently announced 12 months unpaid grandparents leave in order to retain older
staff and promote a family friendly workplace. Although compensation based strategies play a role
in retention, there s more to keeping employees these days than offering cash incentives.
Companies are also realising the importance of organisational fit in retaining employees. Ochstein
(2007) reports through The Tribune Business Weekly that Daman Products, USA increased its
employee retention rate since the company changed its hiring tactics to hire people with soft skills
(ability to communicate effectively, working in a team, display strong work ethic etc. ) and then
train them for the technical skills. He indicates that when the company first started, 34% of
employees left within 2 years, this percentage is now down to 17. Summary of Key Findings
Workforce turnover is a complex and important issue amongst today s organisations. It is perhaps
one of the most often cited cause of increased cost and decreased productivity. No wonder people
management has become an important frontier to extract and create more value from company
assets. On comprehending the articles, it has become evident that organisations have moved
beyond the traditional approach of only investing in core business activities, to invest in employee
retention strategies. Many organisations, for example St. George Bank

The Is The Strongest Version Of Yourself
Journey to Becoming the Strongest Version of Yourself
What will it entail? Ones journey to becoming the strongest version of oneself, does not
encompass a step by step compendium to becoming a Greek God. However, the primary purpose
is to encourage social, physical and spiritual awakenings. Awakening from the grasp of society s
claws and the social order, which has controlled your entire life. Through a set of principles, you ll
become aware of a better way to live and experience your life.
Principle I Understanding Human Relationships
The Six Kinds of People You Will Meet
Throughout your lifetime, you ll personally meet approximately 16,473 people, and at least one
will either try to rape, mug, rob or murder you; interesting! Besides this though, what does every
individual actually mean to your personal development as a being of the universe?
The furthermost unexceptional kind of person one will encounter, is the Hater, most often than not,
being a person who obtains little knowledge of your true, human, being. However, it is deep within
our natural instinct to endeavour a defensive status towards any unknown, untrustworthy threats.
Naturally, the human would either perform a battle cry or physical attack, in an attempt to warn off
the threat by neutralizing it`s offensive efforts. However, society has embedded our nature into
civilization and now the human s displays a more neutral method of defensive, utilising verbal
attacks and social order

What Are The Seven Elements Of Art
One piece of artwork that I did that has all the seven elements of art was my animal watercolor
painting. The seven elements of art are line, shape, color, value, form , texture, and space.
Somethings that these elements help with are make the artwork more realistic. It can also help
how realistic the details are and how it looks three dimensional. The first element I used was
line. Line helps you make a outline of what you are trying to make. Line is the edges of a figure
and it can be made with a pen or pencil. A line can help how realistic you artwork can look. If you
make a line that is behind you figure at a certain angle it can make the shape seem real. Line is
very important to a drawing because it can show a lot of detail. Another element that can help a
piece of artwork is shape. Shape is a area enclosed by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Texture can also help your artwork feel more realistic. I used texture in my watercolor by painting
little hairs on the wolf s body to show how it might feel. It might feel like a furry rug or soft hair.
Texture can help with your artwork because it can help the viewer imagine the object in their mind.
The final element is space. Space can help show where the object is and you can also tell the
setting from the space around it. Space can also help your artwork because it can give detail about
the story behind of the artwork. In my watercolor painting the the space I used was to show the the
wolf was all by itself. It also shows how the land is barren and their is nothing on it.
The Seven Elements of Art can help your pieces of artwork. Some examples of elements that can
help are texture. Texture can help by helping the viewer imagine how the object feels. Another
element that can help us form. Form can help your drawing feel more three dimensional. All the
seven elements help your artwork feel more realistic and help improve your art

The effect of food source (mung bean Vigna radiata vs. black eyed pea Vigna unguiculata) on
relative inhibition of acetylcholinerase due to malaoxon in bean beetle Callosobruchus maculatus
Background and Hypotheses:
Recent studies, most notably Gbaye et al. (2011, 2012), have investigated the sensitivity of bean
beetles in the genus Callosobruchus to organophosphate insecticides (OPs). Economically this is
important work given that these beetles are pests that threaten agricultural yields of legumes. OPs
work by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinerase (AChE) in the beetles. Without this enzyme, the
neurotransmitter acetylcholine can t be broken down and its overflow leads to the eventual death of
the beetle. Results obtained by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Once we collected the data on the 15 individual beetles, we found the sample mean relative
inhibitions per experimental group and their respective sample standard deviations. We then used
a two tailed t test analysis to determine if the difference in means is statistically significant. Our
experimental prediction: if we perform the colorimetric enzyme assay (described on pp. 73 76 of
the Course Supplement) on two groups of beatles one cultured on mung beans and one cultured on
black eye peas we will observe a statistical difference in the respective relative inhibitions.
Results and Data Analysis:
Beetles bred on mung beans exhibited a mean relative inhibition of 35.32% with a sample standard
deviation of 26.41%. Beetles bred on black eyed peas exhibited a mean relative inhibition of
35.42% with a sample standard deviation of 17.97%. This data is reflected in the bar graph in
Figure 1 below. The large bars show the respective means and the error bars show a range of one
standard deviation about the mean.
A two tailed t test yields a t value of 0.99. For 13 degrees of freedom, t critical is 2.16 for a 95%
confidence level and 1.35 for an 80% confidence level. This is reflected in Table 1 below.

The error bars represent one standard deviation.

The Latest Plague
In the Victorian Age occurred the revival of religion following the moral principles of the Bible.
It was thought that if everybody could live by the ideas that the Bible suggests, the world would
be a better place, without crime, jealousy or any other sin given by the Ten Commandments. This
period of belief in God and Bibleended very soon, because of the different publications regarding
the natural elements and the genesis thru science.
The poem The Latest Decalogue is a satire addressed to the society of the Victorian age, who
thought themselves to be very religious persons, but in fact they were not. Clough uses here The
Ten Commandments, how they were given by God and how are they seen and applied on every day
s life. The irony starts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the one hand, God disapproves with the action of coveting, but generation by generation it
continued to be the reason why people prosper. At school we are learnt to be better and have
bigger grades than the others, to have a better job, better cloths, house or car. The same was back
then, they wanted to be in the spotlight with all they did.
The ending offers a perspective about towards what our love should be transmitted. The poet
implies that we should always love God, as he is our master, who keeps an eye on us, seeing what
we are doing and what kind of persons are we, in order that He will know if he will prepare a place
for us in His kingdom. But, loving God, and not loving your neighbour, as many are doing does not
love God at all. God created us according to His face and His affinity. Acting as we do not love
others is a real prove that we do not love God, Who has put a part of Him in every one of us.
To sum up, creating this poem, Clough succeed in satirize the religious people around him. He
compares the lessons that our Creator has left for us and how people are applying them to their
life. It is a major distinction between how they should act and think and how they really are. This
poem is still available for today s generation, whose moral behaviour is not so much changed as the

Bread Is Not Charity In The Giver By Elie Wiesel
Giving bread is not charity when the giver does not have good intentions. The person only
wishes to see the chaos that ensues and find amusement from it. Thereby making the giver come
off as greedy and selfish. The German worker threw bread to the Jews, causing a quarrel in the
train car as the Jews fight and turn against each other for the bread. During the quarrel, a father
in the crowd desperately eats the bread, only to be trampled by his own son and dies right in front
of him. The son takes the bread and eats it and eventually gets trampled by the raging crowd. As
the spectacle went on, the German worker watched in great amusement (Ellie Wiesel pg 100). The
giver (the German worker) gave the bread on purpose for his own amusement, therefore,

How Does Vitamin D Improves The Plyometric Performance
Research Question: Does Vitamin D improves the plyometric performance in young basketball
athletes?
Part 1
A fat soluble vitamin D is an essential vitamin which works as precursor steroid in biological and
metabolic processes happening in human body (1). Deficiency of Vitamin D has shown a verity of
adverse psychological, skeletal and muscular health issues (2). Vitamin D deficiency rate has been
increased remarkably from year 1994 to 2004. There are many factors responsible for this like sun
avoidance sunblock use which are mostly evident in athletes, and other factors like increase in
obesity rates which causes sequestration of vitamin D (3). Deficiency of Vitamin D is linked with
many musculoskeletal systems related health issues. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They came to conclusion that there is a significant co relationship between VO2max and 25(OH)D
(9). Vitamin D has also exigent effect on immune system, and inflammatory modulation, and it is
also essential for optimal muscle function, glucose metabolism, cardiovascular health and skeletal
muscle performance (10).
Part 3
Research has supported that maintained level of 25(OH)D in the range of 75 100 nmol/L and
along with other essential nutrients intake in proper amount like vitamin K is a key step for
recovery as well as performance (11). Supplemental vitamin D can improve recovery of force
production following intense activities and can also hinder the increasing biomarker which causes
muscle damage (12). After intense exercise, recovery in a peak isometric force can be enhanced by
vitamin D supplementation. The increased recovery in this isometric peak force provides
information that vitamin D is an essential modulating mechanism of weakness of muscle (12). All
these studies prove an interesting theme that vitamin D have potential effect on human metabolism
and biological process which can enhance multiple physiological benefits. Therefore, the purpose of
present study was to test the hypothesis that does Vitamin D improve plyometric performance in
young basketball athletes.

College Athletes Research Paper
Good afternoon ladies and gentleman. I stand before you today with a matter that is very
prominent in the college sports industry, especially within the sports of football and basketball, and
that is whether or not to pay the collegiate athletes. I firmly believe that college athletes have the
right to receive payment due to their services in the sport. Many collegesports are large attractions
for these schools resulting in a gross of millions of dollars for the universities. The league that
represents them, the NCAA, is a billion dollar organization due to the popularity of the sports
teams. The players on these teams deserve a fraction of the money that they bring to these other
groups. Also, making it to the professional level is a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
College basketball is popular enough and valuable enough to be worth more than $250 million
dollars a week to broadcast games. CBS is willing to spend billions of dollars because they
believe they will make a profit off ads and viewership numbers. To give an idea of how valuable
television rights to March Madness is, ABC made $233.9 million dollars in advertising for the
2015 NBA finals which lasted around 2 weeks and in the prime time viewing slot on the network.
March Madness has their games during the daytime, usually going from 10 until 4, when most
Americans are either working or in school Despite that their ad revenue is expected to be even
greater than that of the championship at the professional level of the sport. One out of three weeks
of an amateur college basketball tournament is more valuable than an entire championship series,
headlined by two of the greatest athletes ever to play the sport. Despite this, these college players
don t receive any payment while the players in the less valuable series are all multi millionaires.
College football is another very valuable organization. The coaches for some of the universities
are valued more than NFL coaches. Jim Harbaugh, The University of Michigan s head coach,
made 9 million dollars during the 2016 season for coaching a team of amateurs. Nick Saban, the
coach for The University of Alabama, nearly earned an astounding 7 million. These are coaches for

The Coffee cult was created as a unifying religion. Drinkers of the bitter liquid accept all kinds of
drinkers: milk and sugar, honey, no sugar, no milk, black and even decaf. Members of the Coffee
Cult, the drinkers, battled the likes of the tea, hot chocolate and soda drinkers for land and power
since the beginning of time. In fact, the coffee cult was the most victorious among beverage
worshipers. Because all pure beans have a bit of caffeine, the crusaders were able to stay awake

Steve Jobs Led A Revolution
Steve Jobs led a revolution not only in technology, but in the history of the world, and the
determination of the future as well. When Jobs was in his garage with Steve Wozniak about to
create the first Apple computer, they had no idea that they would later own one of the biggest
and wealthiest companies in the world, and also revolutionize technology and set a precedent
for future technology innovators such as themselves. The Apple I, which was Apple s first
product, was sold as an assembled circuit board and lacked the basic features that all Apple
products have today such as a keyboard, monitor, and case. The Apple I was first introduced to
the public at The Homebrew Computer Club. Half of all U.S. households own at least one Apple
product, according to CNBC s All America Economic survey. Jobs later became known as a
master of innovation because of his strong innovations in technology. Without him, the world
would be much farther behind than it currently is. When the Apple I entered the public market
in July of 1976, a new chapter of the world began. The legacy that Jobs left will remain growing
and never end. The revolution and empire that Jobs created was incredible. Jobs was kicked
from Apple in the early years do to infighting of the company. Steve them founded team

Why School Should Be Searched
firstly, I think that school should be searched because it would make the school safe. It will
make the school safer because it will get rid of drug and weapon in the school. BY searching the
school for drugs it will send the drugs to jail and or to drug abuse place to help them. Also by
arrested the kid that have drugon them it will teaches them a lesson to not do drug and not to
bring them to school. Also you can find there deal and send him to jail for traffic . Over all it
would make the city and the school s better as there is one more drug dealer off the street to sell
to kids. with one of the effect of most drug is that impact your learning, so if there were no
people that do drug in the school the school avenge will go up and less of a chance of doing
stupid thing like starting a fight or bring a weapon to school. Also by getting rid of weapon at
school it will make them safe. there have been many shooting in Canada and around the world.

Making Sex, A And Of The One Sex Model Essay
Unit Two Sex is a complicated topic for a variety of reasons; one of which is how he differences
between men and women are described and explained. In Laqueur s book, Making Sex, a
discretion of the one sex model is given along with several contributing factors to the shift to a
two sex model. In this paper I would like to touch on some of the influences given in the book
and out as evidence for my own interpretation of how our current model developed. With the
coming of the modern age came a rapid influx of ideas; it was a time for revolutions to be made.
I d like to start a bit before this time though to see how the shift began. In the premodern era
conquering other peoples was very common. In a sense it was conquer, or be conquered. We
rationalized that some people had progressed faster than others, and therefore that is why they
were able to overtake other communities or nations. These people were civilized and the others
savage . This difference in progress was a driving force in developing technologies and ideas to
stay above the people it ruled over. To do this, a strong military and economy was needed. The
developed nations needed the strongest population to defend, invade, produce, and profit. In
addition to this, the ruling class felt that it was not fair to leave their colonies so underdeveloped;
so in order to prevent the progression gap from widening it sought to help the poor savages. This
was achieved by several efforts to better the health of societies

entire nation and the world. Across the country, more and more sports facilities, high school
athletic complexes, etc. seem to be switching to synthetic turf fields. Artificial turf fields have
become more popular over the course of the 2nd half of the 20th Century till the present day. Since
they have become so popular, they have been studied closely to see what the differences are
between them and natural grassfields. And in the last few years, these sorts of fields have gained a
lot of scrutiny for their un healthy surface and the cost of installing them. But with any
disadvantages comes some advantages. Synthetic, athletic turf... Show more content on

In an article written by Bruce Fordyce, he interviews a person by the name of Cory Jenner, and they
stated, Financially speaking, artificial turf is more cost effective over time, although the initial
installation of a turf field is twice that of a natural grass field. Looking out 20 years, the cost per
event on a turf field is about $300, compared to $970 per event on a natural grass field. Although
the comparison here is being made is turf fields versus natural grass fields, the facts given are
true for the turf fields in that they are going to be a lot cheaper to be able to run after the initial
field is built. And once these fields are built, they can even be profited off because they can stay
in great shape even after being used a lot. These artificial fields are a lot easier to maintain then
other fields are. For example, on artificial turf fields, the boundary lines are already installed into
the field when the material is being installed, so new lines don t have to be drawn every time an
event is held at the field. Bruce Fordyce, author the article, Turf War: Artificial vs. Natural ,
states, When factoring in the expenses of irrigation and maintaining a grass playing field each
year, the cost more than pays for itself during the lifetime of the surface. In other words, the field
is going to be a lot easier to take care of and it will last a lot longer than other fields,

Ways People Benefit From South
What are ways people benefit from South? Ways people benefit from South are being a student
who continuously is on their work, engaged to what needs to be done, and being a responsible
young adult that wants to better themselves as a person, acknowledging the potential they have
from the tools provided by the school. Students being self driven give them an opportunity to excel
in their education. Going in re taking quizzes, tests, doing work show the students willingness to
succeed .
While many U.S. schools struggle with diversity, south successfully is full of diversity and different
cultures. In an article The Century Foundation I found this quote very interesting and somewhat
relatable to south. The benefits of school diversity run in all directions. There is increasing evidence
that diversity that makes us smarter. I believe diversity at south makes students smarter just by
being together. I wanted to ask someone about diversity and this was their response South has great

schools, South could improve in the area of lack of education innovation by teachers furthering
their knowledge as a teacher. In the article of Education Week s Blogs this quote states It stands
to reason that if students are changing, teachers must too. I believe this is true , there are some
teachers who are not good at what they do or how they go about their lessons. Teachers play a
big role in this topic of discussion because they should want to change themselves, but in a
positive way . Some students don t get the help they need. Says Tyanna. This is an issue because I
feel teachers at South focus more on the kids who are not capable like others. If South were to take
this into action students could possibly be more engaged They could improve their curriculum.
Teachers today tend to teach the same things each year , so if their curriculum improved everyone

Essay on Basketball Needs To Be Fixed
Basketball Needs to Be Fixed
Professional and college basketball have become very popular in the hearts and minds of many
Americans. Millions of dollars a year are spent on apparel, tickets, and television all generated by
people s love for basketball.
But in the last couple of years, both the National Basketball Association (NBA) and college
basketball have lost a substantial amount of their competition and have caught much criticizim for
it. At the heart of this problem is a single cause, greed. The game of basketball has become all
about money instead of the game and its fans. This problem needs to be addressed, and the best
place to start is with the college players, or more specifically, the NBA draft. ... Show more content

College basketball markets their teams after their best players, when those players decide to go
pro early, the promotion of college basketball is hurt; along with the overall talent level of the
league is lowered drastically. Games become less interesting because the players are not as talented.
This in turn hurts the television networks because people do not like watching games in which they
do not know who the players are.
And then, that in turn hurts the league and the schools again because the networks will not pay as
much to televise the games as they once did.
The schools and the league are not the only ones hurt, by leaving school early hoping to make
the big bucks the players hurt themselves. In the world that we live in today, if you do not have a
college degree, opportunities are limited. Look at the statistics, 60 players are drafted each year,
and there are only 360 roster spots in the entire NBA. The chances that each player drafted will
make the team is almost an impossibility. Some people go back to school and try to finish their
degrees, but most do not because once you give up your eligibility, you cannot get it back, with
means most of them cannot afford to go back to school. This leaves a lot of people out of work and
with no degree. By keeping the college players in school, most will achieve

Comparison Between Incarceration And Recidivism
Incarceration in my opinion is not a deterrent to recidivism. When someone is placed into an
environment that is surrounded by those who have committed crimes ranging from selling
marijuana to first degree murder, there is a bad recipe for change. People adapt to their surrounds
and someone for example that is in prisonor jail for a minor offense may room with someone who
murdered a family. The mindset of someone selling marijuana isn t usually as immoral as
someone who murdered. If you placed a person with a little bit of morals left into an environment
which none are really to be found they will slowly lose those morals. The person adapts and
beings to feel as though it is normal to think and feel a specific way. A study done by the

Women In Puritan New England
Many historians believed Puritan New England was a Male Dominated society that tightly
imprisoned women s personalities . Women were thought to have stayed inside the home and to
have done chores to please their husband. With very few records to disprove this notion, due to the
fact mostly all business transactions were maleto male, it was assumed this was true. That was until
diaries and journals kept by women in the late 18th century began to emerge. Women did provide
services to people outside their own household, the services were just small in nature. Usually small
enough to not be wrote down or put in a log. Although women had more opportunities than
previously thought, this still does not make it the golden age of economics for... Show more content

Many women became pregnant before they were wed and this was seen as okay as long as you
did marry the father. This tied down many young colonial women to becoming young mothers
versus trying to make it out on their own. Once a woman became a mother and began to run her
own household, extra income opportunities become very small. Instead, they may weave their
own clothing or grow their own garden to help alleviate some expenses so they could afford other
things such as sugar or tea. Once the children were no longer small, a farm wife may spend her time
helping out her husband in the field with light work or in her own garden. The profits of these
home gardens were often small or non existent, so they would not appear inside any type of
record book unless it was her own diary. The extras a housewife did make, would be used to
barter goods more often than not. Sometimes a woman would appear in a record book for selling
eggs or foul. In a prominent business man s accounts, he only listed doing business with women four

Lolo Elk Population
Wolves are Killing Our Wildlife
The cause of the local big game population dropping isn t because animals are not reproducing. It
is because wolves are killing too many big game animals and killing the ecosystem of the North
Western United States. The population of Mule Deer in SouthEastern Idaho was cut in half in
only 8 years, from 1995 to 2003 (IFG, 2006). What caused this sudden decline? Wolves did. Deer
are not the only species suffering. Elk populations are seriously struggling to keep their numbers
up. Wolves are killing them too fast and elk cannot keep up.
Idaho Fish and Game has a study in the Lolo area in Northern Idaho to get detailed information on
wolves and the number of animals they kill. There are at least 12 packs in the Lolo including five
packs that travel back and forth between Idaho and Montana. Fish and Game will continue to
collect information to evaluate the effectiveness of control actions in meeting population goals for
all big game species. Lolo elk populations have been in decline for years, dating back to the early

`` Alone `` By Edgar Allan Poe
Nineteenth century American author Edgar Allan Poe is best known for his tales of terror and
emotional poetry. Poe led a very tormented and isolated life full of rejection and loss of loved
ones. His agony is revealed in his poem titled Alone , which was written in 1829 when he was 19
years old. Poe never meant for this poem to be seen by others; yet, in 1875, 26 years after Poe s
passing, the poem was published in Scribner s Monthly with the added title of Alone . In Alone ,
Poe reveals he believes his existence is meaningless and no one would care if he disappeared
completely. Throughout this poem, Poe clearly reveals that he is losing his faithin God and
beginning to question the religious teachings of his childhood. In this poem, Poe uses
metaphors to disclose his feelings of losing his sense of self due to the fact that he believes God
is rejecting him. From the opening lines of the poem, Poe portrays that he has been lost in his
own mind for a long time. Poe expresses that he feels ignored and excluded from everything
going on around him. In the lines I could not bring my passion from a common spring and From
the same source I have not taken my sorrow, Poe acknowledges that he is questioning his faith in
God because everyone he loves and cares about has died or abandoned him. Poe believes he has
done nothing wrong, so God is unjustly forsaking him. Poe writes The mystery which binds me

One of the innovations that stood out the most during the American Industrial Revolution were
with the advancement with Agriculture. Despite the other benefits made during the American
industrial revolution, such as steel and oil, agriculture remained the nation s basic occupation. The
revolution in agricultureduring the time involved a shift from hand labor to machine farming and
from subsistence (maintaining/supporting for oneself) to a commercial agriculture. There were a
few contributing factors to the achievement of agricultural success. One of them was the expansion
to the West and another was the use of machinery for farming. Innovations such as The Reaper, The

The Controversy Between Pro-Life And Pro Life
The issue of Abortions has been a controversy for years now. There are two main groups for this
problem, Pro Life, and Pro Choice. Pro Life supports the human rights of life should be
embraced, by religion and ethics. Pro choice is when someone wants to make this choice
without no remorse of human life, but because someone wants no part of it raising one. First up
for discussion is the root of a problem is a feminist. A feminist is the Pro choice in abortions,
meaning that one believes that is the woman s choice and right to have. Also, a feminist is
someone who believes that a woman should not mess up her body and should be worrying about
her health. Pro choice believes that a fetus does not have any right to life until twenty four weeks
(Gupta, 2014). For example, someone that the writer know has had four abortions and told her
that she was not able to have another child because of having so many procedures done. Next up
for discussion the pro life. The pro life comes from those with religion; these individuals believe
that aborting something or someone is a sin. The writer thought and understood as well, that this is
an endangerment not just for the health of someone doing so, but anyone who wants a child later

The Technique Of Film Video Editing History Theory And...
In Ken Dancyger: The Technique of Film Video Editing History Theory and Practice we can
clearly see how editing has changed from the earliest films, when editing was nonexistent to a
time when the camera never moved when shooting a scene to a time where you can use
montage concepts to make a film more dynamic for the viewer. These were all different stages
editing has gone through to get to the point where can use editing as a story telling tool which is
just as important as the any other part of creating a film. Edwin. S. Porter was the man who took

Chlamydia By Chlamydia Trachomatis. Chlamydia
The common term that is known to us around the world is chlamydia, but most people do not
know its scientific name, which is called chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydia is among the
smallest living organisms. It is nonmotile and a gram negative cocci bacteria. These parasites
can bind to intracellular bacteria that only affect humans. So in a nut shell chlamydia cannot
survive without us humans, where it takes everything from us but does not give back. In order
for it to make copies of itself it needs the help of a human. Without the help of a human it cannot
make copies of itself nor survive because it needs ATP and other nutrients that it isn t capable of
making on its own. It was believed that this bacterium was known to be a virus due to the fact it
cannot synthesize ATP and grows only inside of a host cell. The cytoplasmic inclusion of
chlamydia was mistaken for a protozoan parasite for a long period of time before they figured it
out that it was a virus. Silent infection is what chlamydia is known for because most people who
get infected show no signs or evidence and can fall short of the physical examination findings
when it comes to the disease. Halberstaedter and Von Prowazek first discovered chlamydia in
1907. These two came together that led to the discovery of chlamydial disease, which was
observed in the mucus membrane of the front eye of an infected orangutan. However, over the last

Alzheimer s Disease ( Ad ) Essay
Alzheimer disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia in the elderly, accounting for 65
70% of all cases (Jellinger, Janetzky, Attems, Kienzl, 2008). The other dementias are of the
Parkinson s group, the fronto temporal group and the vascular group. The total worldwide
yearly costs for the treatment and care of patients suffering from dementia are estimated to be
around 250 billion US dollars. The lifetime risk for AD between the ages of 65 and 100 is 33%
for men and 45% for women with an annual increase of 1 2% in the seventh decade to almost
60% in the 10th decade with doubling every 5 years (Jellinger et al., 2008). AD is incurable, and
thus represents a major public health problem. AD represents a challenge to humanity due to its
relatively recent discovery, progressive nature of the illness, and complex diagnosis. Alzheimer s
disease (AD) was discovered by a German doctor Alois Alzheimer in 1906 when he found amyloid
plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in the autopsy of a woman who died of an unknown mental
disease. The extracellular amyloid plaque deposits, composed of insoluble amyloid Beta peptide
were hypothesized to be the main etiological factor. The most important abnormality is an excess of
Amyloid beta peptides brought about through either overproduction or failure in degradation.
(Uzun, Kozumplik, Folnegović Smalc, 2011) Later, it was discovered that intracellular
neurofibrillary tangles composed of hyper phosphorylated, helically paired tau

Question # 1: Leaving aside assignment 6 (Gibson/Key) what reading(s) did you find most

This week, singling out one compelling piece was hard, as I now see how all the pieces are
linked. For example, I liked how Perestroika informs us of the trends existing within the discipline
of political science, particularly the overrated focus on methods and techniques in political
inquiry. I also liked how Perestroika highlights the cultural conflicts existing within the discipline,
which is demonstrated by the behavior of APSR and various administrations and departments of
the discipline. Perestroika dictates that the discipline needs to resolve its existing
epistemological differences through tolerance and increase the understanding of these
differences. Gregory Bateson s proposal for innovative thinking shows us new ways of dealing
with knowledge and generating ideas. He speaks of what he calls the ecology of mind that is the
aggregates of ideas. Bateson stipulates that the world we see is the world we perceive not
necessarily because it exists, but because we edit the reality we see. This idea speaks to the
scientific mode of inquiry, as Perestroika puts it: causality vs. meaning, objective vs. subjective, and
certainty vs. skepticism. Bates suggests that the scientific research must be interactive and inclusive
of the various methods of inquiry. While Bent Flyvbjerg starts with the question of whether theory

My High School Career
Have I grown and developed over the three years of my high school career? The answer to this
question is a definitive yes. My life has been an amazing journey of physical, mental, and spiritual
growth. My three years of high school education thus far have been extremely interesting and
challenging. I learned important skills through my school involvement. Specifically, I practiced
creativity and become a more understanding person. Among academic subjects, I gravitate to
chemistry since I enjoyed learningabout different chemicals and their interactions. I love chemistry.
It interests me to no end. Therefore, my appreciation for chemistry has influenced my career
choices.
After high school, I will be attending the University of Maryland Baltimore County and be
majoring in Urology. I believe this is an excellent field for me, not only because I love the
subject, but also because I have an inclination for science and math. Urology is an exciting and
ever changing discipline in our world today. An especially fascinating aspect of this profession is
the wide spectrum of opportunities available. With such a versatile degree as a Doctor of Urology,
the possibilities for my future are exciting. However, I think that before a career is even considered,
one must explore his motivations.
In my household, education and perseverance were highly valued. The world I originate from has
been shaped by my connections to people. The people that have impacted me most have been my
family,

Each doctor had their own ambitions and why they committed these experiments and war crimes.
These are five reason these doctors put effort to their research. Josef Mengele was known as

Hop Frog Conflict
Unit 2 Essay
All authors have their own way of writing, but what they all have in common is conflict. Without
conflict a story is boring, also conflict can be used to reveal elements about characters. Edgar
Allan Poe, renowned poet and author, used conflict to reveal traits about characters in stories
such as Hop Frog or The Masque of the Red Death , as well as John Green in The Fault in Our
Stars, one of his most known pieces of writing. In Poe s story Hop Frog the main conflict was the
King mistreated Hop Frog and his friend Trippetta, so Hop Frog tricked the King and his seven
ministers into dressing up as ourang outangs and getting set on fire. In his other story The Masque
of the Red Death the main conflict was the Red Death, which ... Show more content on

The first way that person vs death can develop a complex or interesting character is it gives them
a back story. For example, in The Fault in Our Stars the whole novel has cancer weaved into the
whole plot. Cancer, in this novel, can make people like Hazel, Gus, and Isaac strong by showing
that their whole life they ve been fighting to stay alive even if they fail, like Gus. Also, In Hop
Frog his disabilities also give him a background of his name. Another way that person vs death
contributes to the development of a complex character is it can show whether a character is
scared of dying or fearless. In The Masque of The Red Death Prince Prospero locks everyone not
infected up in his castle to party and keep the disease from getting in. Later, when the Red Death
breaks in Prince Prospero gets angry because he thinks someone is mocking him and chases after
the Red Death, which is characterized for other literary reasons. But, to almost everyone s
surprise the Red Death kills Prince Prospero. This can show many traits. For example, Prince
Prospero could be considered light tempered, or maybe that s because him and his kingdom was
at risk of the disease, so he could also be a protective prince. But in The Fault in Our Stars Hazel s
sickness gave her a different perspective on life and that mostly everything was a side effect

Criteria For A Nobel Prize
Criteria for a Nobel Prize in Leadership Alan Weber (2009) wrote an article for the Washington
Post, that focused on the criteria that one might use to suggest a nominee. In his article, Weber
offered that candidacy for the prize should not be base upon achievement broadly defined, or
abstract qualities that can be attributed to leaders, but clear and undeniable moral authority
(Weber, 2009, para.1). Cook (2009) added that he would choose a nominee who has pretty much
transcended his or her own ego, and who sees humanity as interconnected in a vast system to
which we all, ultimately, are contributing (Cook, 2009, para.4). While these points provide a good
starting point for selection the development of selection criteria, I have demined that any
individual who would be a candidate for a Nobel Prize in Pauline Leadership should be
characterized by the following the following:
Demonstrated Christ Centered Core Values
Unwavering Sense of Mission and Purpose
Alignment of Character, Ethics, and Actions (Bradberry Greaves, 2012)
Servant Orientation
Leads by Example
Humility
Self Discipline (Lee, 2003)
Equipping or Developing Others (Lee, 2003)
Lasting Concern for the Broader Community
Influence and Impact
Explanation of the First Nobel Laureate As Lutheran Pastor, it should not be a surprise that I have

Americans are so individualistic and believe so deeply in self reliance, why do they have the
highest percentage of charitable giving in the world and readily volunteer their help to community

relationships and a cultural script of simpatia (positive social behavior),2 while simultaneously
exhibiting seeming indifference as service workers in both the private and public sectors? Based on
Hofstede s3 value dimension of Uncertainty Avoidance, the Japanese have a low tolerance for

Americans dot every i, cross every t, and painstakingly spell out every possible contingency? Many
people trained to work in these cultures found such situations to be paradoxical when they first
encountered them. These examples often contradict and confound our attempts to

The Consequences And Effects Of Buckthorn And Its Factors...
Abstract
Buckthorn (Rhamnus spp.), an invasive shrub that is found throughout Ohio, the Midwest, and
most of the eastern United States, has a rapid growth rate and is able to withstand conditions that
most plants cannot. Aside from that, the shrub is able to change soil properties that can have
devastating consequences on management. Buckthorn also has an advantage over native species,
because of the early onset of the shrub; the early arrival of buckthorn leaves allows the plant to
gain more than a third of its carbon gain in the same time period that natives are still bare. In soils
where the shrub has invaded, there is a higher percentage of nitrogen and carbon, with nitrogen
levels often double that of levels in soils that have not been invaded. In soils where buckthorn has
invaded, there is altered nitrogen mineralization rates, a higher pH, and higher soil moisture than in
soils without. Due to the fact that buckthorn leaves are high in nitrogen and they drop earlier in the
season compared to native species, microarthopods often colonize the litter before any other leaf
litter. The increase of microarthopods leads to an increase in decomposition rates, which can have
significant consequences on the soil, including altering the fertility and collapsing the soil
arthropod community.
Introduction
Invasive species are considered one of the major causes of biodiversity loss, second only to habitat
loss (Heneghan et al 2006), and some invasive species have the ability to

Employee Attitude
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY An attitude is a hypothetical construct that represents an
individual s degree of like or dislike for an item. Attitudes are generally positive or negative views
of a person, place, thing, or event this is often referred to as the attitude object. People can also be
conflicted or ambivalent toward an object, meaning that they simultaneously possess both positive
and negative attitudes toward the item in question.
Attitude: The importance of attitude in understanding psychological phenomenon was given formal
recognition early in the history of social psychology. From the time of the concept s entry in to the
language of psychology until now, interest in attitude has been strong and growing. ... Show more

2. Ego Defensive: The ego defensive functions of attitude acknowledge the importance of
psychological thought. Attitude may be acquired by facing threats in the external world or
becoming aware of his own unacceptable impulses.
3. Value Orientation: The value orientation function takes in to account attitudes that are held
because they express a person s self image, or bycues that engage the person s values and make
them salient to him.
4. Knowledge: The knowledge function of attitude is based on a person s need to maintain a stable,
organized and meaningful structure of the world.
5. Attitude that provides a standard against which a person evaluates the aspects of his world and
serve as the knowledge function too. These functions of attitudes affect the individual s way of
interpreting the information coming to him. Since attitudes intervene between work requirements
and work responses, information about how people feel about their jobs can be quite useful in the
predication about work response. Thus, these types of attitudes can portray areas of investigation
for making the individual and the organization more compatible.
Factors in Attitude Formation: The attitudes are learned. Though there are different approaches as
how learning works and is acquired by an individual, generally it is held that individuals learn things
from the environment in which they interact. Thus, for attitude formation, all these factors must be

Organizational Analysis
How an organization is structured has enormous consequences not only for the success of its
business but, also, for the success of its employees.
Though it is obvious why understanding organizations is critical to business success, nevertheless
it is worthwhile to review these reasons. The structure of a firm either enhances or hinders
efficiency and productivity. In other words, how information flows and to whom, whether and how
many parts of the work process is redundant, how clear and precise is the reporting structure, if and
how new ideas and products are promoted these and many more issues are obvious consequences of
structure and profoundly affect the success of the business.
What may not be as obvious but is clearly as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Information systems are state of the art. The recipients of this information have to be able to act
quickly to stay on top. Thus, they have to be very team centered (to analyze the information and to
translate it into new products and services), and they have to have a great deal of leeway with
respect to decision making and authority (to respond promptly to customer needs).
A growing and successful construction company prided itself on building expensive homes geared
to client needs and adaptable to client wants. However, client requirements were initially not
addressed in depth, methods to solicit this information were not developed (e.g., the use of software
that would enable clients to imagine being inside the house as it was being built), contact was
initiated only when another payment was due, and only the owner could fix the final price of the
house. The net result was that the owner, in effect, convinced buyers what they should want,
thereby dramatically increasing the number of client initiated changes as the clients along the way
became clearer about what they wanted.
Information about customer initiated changes was frequently communicated incorrectly or late to
the field, even more increasing construction costs due to the need to undo work that had been
already completed. Sales people were pre empted at closing regarding sales price, making for rapid
turnover of sales people and suspicious

  • 2. Joining Cults Former Members Perception of Cult Movement, is a study researched and done by Dr. Carmen Almendros, Dr. Jose A. Carrobles and Dr. Alvaro Rodriguez Carballeira. The research paper was published online under the ICSA ( International Cultic Studies Association), a non profitable anti cult organization, in 2007 in Volume six of the Cultic Studies Review. As the title of the study states, the research was used to find the perception of former cultic members before and during their involvement in the cultic group. The research paper goes in depth about the factors that influences people to join cults, and as well as delve in the topic of previous mental health seekers and the impact on them when joining these cults. Unfortunately, the hypothesis wasn t clearly mentioned in the research paper. However, it could be easily predicted that the hypothesis is surrounding the topic that most people who join cults believe that the cults are morally good and healthy for them. The prediction is based on the fact that the articles states that most cultic members are derived from normal family environments instead of having a troubled past. Also, the researcher focuses on the attitudes of joining a cult, which in the interview ranged from, strong desire to join, I don t know it arose , and I was ... • 3. Eternal Challenges throughout Life Throughout the history of human development, almost every process brings benefits as well as drawbacks, and social development is no exception. Residing in an efficient society, balancing environment protection and social development can be quite a dilemma. As Anna Quindlen says in the book , Our Animal Rites, You can t stop progress, especially if it s traveling 65 miles an hour. people cannot put off social development. At the same time, the earth is where humans are living and deserves more attention, since their environment has already been degrading. Both the environment protection and social development are important, so when people are contemplating possible solutions, considering the detrimental and beneficial impact on both sides is necessary. Therefore, a lot of new challenges occur for they are not easily solved because there are always conflicts in different solutions. Among all the challenges, economy and technology are the two most significant out of all the challenges. Environmental problems caused by pesticides issues, which alarmed people shockingly by the book Silence Spring, written by Rachel Carson, need to be dealt with those two challenges. In the article A Fable for Tomorrow from the book Silence Spring, Rachel Carson assumes the probable consequences of overusing pesticides. She imagines a town where all life seemed to live in harmony with its surroundings. Then, an unknown disaster sweeps through the town. The vegetables wither, livestock ... • 4. Breaking The Five-Paragraph-Theme Barrier By Thomas Nunnally In Breaking the Five Paragraph Theme Barrier professor Thomas Nunnally describes his experience teaching the popular writing tool. The five paragraph theme requires an introductory paragraph, three middle paragraphs that each have their own ideas, and a concluding paragraph. Nunnally believes that this writingmodel should only be used as a writing tool and not the backbone to all essays (Nunnally). I agree with Nunnally s stance, but also think that by the age of sixteen, students should no longer be given the opportunity to rely on the model for writing opportunities. ** The five paragraph theme was created to be a general teaching tool for inexperience writers. It allows the writers to easily formulate a structure essay. It tells you that you only need three supporting details for your thesis and that each do not need to be in depth. Most teachers say that a paragraph is only roughly 4 5 sentences long. As a result, if every paragraph is short then you re only writing approximately 20 25 sentences. A writer can easily follow the structure given and finish an essay in a well timely manner. The model is effective for beginners, but ineffective for professionals (Nunnally). Until a certain point, the model is effective for writers. It is a practical, easy template that allows a writer to quickly set up and then write an essay, ... The model is structured to unite each paragraph to each other by using a thesis statement paragraph, three supporting paragraphs for said idea and finally, to summarize your essay. • 5. The Cure For Anything Is Salt Water As Isak Dinesen famously states in Seven Gothic Tales, The cure for anything is salt water tears, sweat, or the sea. Paradoxically, since the days of ancient creation epics, the sea has been a symbol of chaos and danger; clearly, water takes on these characteristics in the terrifying ocean in The Awakening and in the river that swallows Virginia Woolf in The Hours. Yet for each major character in the two novels, water yields lucidity in its wake; it is the cure that brings closure to each story and enlightenment to each woman. Water, in many forms, affects every major character in [oh god what s a synonym for the two novels ]. Fears of submersion, overpowering tears, visions of deep sea creatures, and baptismal deaths all seep into the pages of the two novels. In some cases, water is clearly something to be avoided; take, for example, Laura Brown s reluctance to begin her tasks as a housewife in the morning. She must [summon] resolve, as if she were about to dive into cold water (41) just to put down her book, because there is more passion and promise in Virginia Woolf s words than in her own existence. For Clarissa Vaughn, too, water invokes feelings of discomfort; as she steps from her home onto the streets of Greenwich Village, she pauses at the threshold as she would at the edge of a pool, watching the turquoise water lapping at the tiles, the liquid nets of sun wavering in the blue depths (9). She admires the freshness of the morning, [delaying] for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. 3 Major Human Resource Issues in Australia Executive Summary This assignment is a portfolio, based on three current topics in Human Resource Management. The common theme of all the media articles I reviewed is the recognition of people as an asset by the organisations to achieve their strategic goals and objectives. It is observed that organisations are directing their efforts to recruit, retain and develop this asset. On reviewing the media articles, I have summarised the current HR issues in the following topics. В•Employee retention: A Link with the Bottom Line В•Aging workforce: A determinant in HRP В•Training Development: A powerful HRD strategy * The media articles are not attached however the REFERECES section contains complete references for each article.... Although compensation based strategies play a role in retention, there s more to keeping employees these days than offering cash incentives. Companies are also realising the importance of organisational fit in retaining employees. Ochstein (2007) reports through The Tribune Business Weekly that Daman Products, USA increased its employee retention rate since the company changed its hiring tactics to hire people with soft skills (ability to communicate effectively, working in a team, display strong work ethic etc. ) and then train them for the technical skills. He indicates that when the company first started, 34% of employees left within 2 years, this percentage is now down to 17. Summary of Key Findings Workforce turnover is a complex and important issue amongst today s organisations. It is perhaps one of the most often cited cause of increased cost and decreased productivity. No wonder people management has become an important frontier to extract and create more value from company assets. The seven elements of art are line, shape, color, value, form , texture, and space. Somethings that these elements help with are make the artwork more realistic. It can also help how realistic the details are and how it looks three dimensional. The first element I used was line. Line helps you make a outline of what you are trying to make. Line is the edges of a figure and it can be made with a pen or pencil. A line can help how realistic you artwork can look. If you make a line that is behind you figure at a certain angle it can make the shape seem real. Line is very important to a drawing because it can show a lot of detail. Space can help show where the object is and you can also tell the setting from the space around it. Space can also help your artwork because it can give detail about the story behind of the artwork. In my watercolor painting the the space I used was to show the the wolf was all by itself. It also shows how the land is barren and their is nothing on it. The effect of food source (mung bean Vigna radiata vs. black eyed pea Vigna unguiculata) on relative inhibition of acetylcholinerase due to malaoxon in bean beetle Callosobruchus maculatus Background and Hypotheses: Recent studies, most notably Gbaye et al. (2011, 2012), have investigated the sensitivity of bean beetles in the genus Callosobruchus to organophosphate insecticides (OPs). Economically this is important work given that these beetles are pests that threaten agricultural yields of legumes. OPs work by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinerase (AChE) in the beetles. Our experimental prediction: if we perform the colorimetric enzyme assay (described on pp. 73 76 of the Course Supplement) on two groups of beatles one cultured on mung beans and one cultured on black eye peas we will observe a statistical difference in the respective relative inhibitions. Results and Data Analysis: Beetles bred on mung beans exhibited a mean relative inhibition of 35.32% with a sample standard deviation of 26.41%. Beetles bred on black eyed peas exhibited a mean relative inhibition of 35.42% with a sample standard deviation of 17.97%. This data is reflected in the bar graph in Figure 1 below. Vitamin D has also exigent effect on immune system, and inflammatory modulation, and it is also essential for optimal muscle function, glucose metabolism, cardiovascular health and skeletal muscle performance (10). Part 3 Research has supported that maintained level of 25(OH)D in the range of 75 100 nmol/L and along with other essential nutrients intake in proper amount like vitamin K is a key step for recovery as well as performance (11). Supplemental vitamin D can improve recovery of force production following intense activities and can also hinder the increasing biomarker which causes muscle damage (12). After intense exercise, recovery in a peak isometric force can be enhanced by vitamin D supplementation. The increased recovery in this isometric peak force provides information that vitamin D is an essential modulating mechanism of weakness of muscle (12). All these studies prove an interesting theme that vitamin D have potential effect on human metabolism and biological process which can enhance multiple physiological benefits. It will make the school safer because it will get rid of drug and weapon in the school. BY searching the school for drugs it will send the drugs to jail and or to drug abuse place to help them. Also by arrested the kid that have drugon them it will teaches them a lesson to not do drug and not to bring them to school. Also you can find there deal and send him to jail for traffic . Over all it would make the city and the school s better as there is one more drug dealer off the street to sell to kids. with one of the effect of most drug is that impact your learning, so if there were no people that do drug in the school the school avenge will go up and less of a chance of doing stupid thing like starting a fight or bring a weapon to school. Also by getting rid of weapon at school it will make them safe. there have been many shooting in Canada and around the world. Most notably in the USA. Making Sex, A And Of The One Sex Model Essay Unit Two Sex is a complicated topic for a variety of reasons; one of which is how he differences between men and women are described and explained. In Laqueur s book, Making Sex, a discretion of the one sex model is given along with several contributing factors to the shift to a two sex model. In this paper I would like to touch on some of the influences given in the book and out as evidence for my own interpretation of how our current model developed. With the coming of the modern age came a rapid influx of ideas; it was a time for revolutions to be made. I d like to start a bit before this time though to see how the shift began. In the premodern era conquering other peoples was very common. In a sense it was conquer, or be conquered. We rationalized that some people had progressed faster than others, and therefore that is why they were able to overtake other communities or nations. These people were civilized and the others savage . This difference in progress was a driving force in developing technologies and ideas to stay above the people it ruled over. To do this, a strong military and economy was needed. The developed nations needed the strongest population to defend, invade, produce, and profit. In addition to this, the ruling class felt that it was not fair to leave their colonies so underdeveloped; so in order to prevent the progression gap from widening it sought to help the poor savages. This was achieved by several efforts to better the health of societies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Across the country, more and more sports facilities, high school athletic complexes, etc. seem to be switching to synthetic turf fields. Artificial turf fields have become more popular over the course of the 2nd half of the 20th Century till the present day. Since they have become so popular, they have been studied closely to see what the differences are between them and natural grassfields. In an article written by Bruce Fordyce, he interviews a person by the name of Cory Jenner, and they stated, Financially speaking, artificial turf is more cost effective over time, although the initial installation of a turf field is twice that of a natural grass field. Looking out 20 years, the cost per event on a turf field is about $300, compared to $970 per event on a natural grass field. Although the comparison here is being made is turf fields versus natural grass fields, the facts given are true for the turf fields in that they are going to be a lot cheaper to be able to run after the initial field is built. And once these fields are built, they can even be profited off because they can stay in great shape even after being used a lot. These artificial fields are a lot easier to maintain then other fields are. For example, on artificial turf fields, the boundary lines are already installed into the field when the material is being installed, so new lines don t have to be drawn every time an event is held at the field. Bruce Fordyce, author the article, Turf War: Artificial vs. Natural , states, When factoring in the expenses of irrigation and maintaining a grass playing field each year, the cost more than pays for itself during the lifetime of the surface. Ways people benefit from South are being a student who continuously is on their work, engaged to what needs to be done, and being a responsible young adult that wants to better themselves as a person, acknowledging the potential they have from the tools provided by the school. But in the last couple of years, both the National Basketball Association (NBA) and college basketball have lost a substantial amount of their competition and have caught much criticizim for it. College basketball markets their teams after their best players, when those players decide to go pro early, the promotion of college basketball is hurt; along with the overall talent level of the league is lowered drastically. Games become less interesting because the players are not as talented. This in turn hurts the television networks because people do not like watching games in which they do not know who the players are. And then, that in turn hurts the league and the schools again because the networks will not pay as much to televise the games as they once did. The schools and the league are not the only ones hurt, by leaving school early hoping to make the big bucks the players hurt themselves. In the world that we live in today, if you do not have a college degree, opportunities are limited. Look at the statistics, 60 players are drafted each year, and there are only 360 roster spots in the entire NBA. The chances that each player drafted will make the team is almost an impossibility. When someone is placed into an environment that is surrounded by those who have committed crimes ranging from selling marijuana to first degree murder, there is a bad recipe for change. Chlamydia The common term that is known to us around the world is chlamydia, but most people do not know its scientific name, which is called chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydia is among the smallest living organisms. It is nonmotile and a gram negative cocci bacteria. These parasites can bind to intracellular bacteria that only affect humans. So in a nut shell chlamydia cannot survive without us humans, where it takes everything from us but does not give back. In order for it to make copies of itself it needs the help of a human. Without the help of a human it cannot make copies of itself nor survive because it needs ATP and other nutrients that it isn t capable of making on its own. It was believed that this bacterium was known to be a virus due to the fact it cannot synthesize ATP and grows only inside of a host cell. The cytoplasmic inclusion of chlamydia was mistaken for a protozoan parasite for a long period of time before they figured it out that it was a virus. Silent infection is what chlamydia is known for because most people who get infected show no signs or evidence and can fall short of the physical examination findings when it comes to the disease. Halberstaedter and Von Prowazek first discovered chlamydia in 1907. CSE labor analgesia was initiated using a loss of resistance to normal saline technique when cervical dilation was 1 cm. Intrathecal analgesia was initiated with bupivacaine 2.5 mg and fentanyl 15 Вµg and PCEA was maintained as described for Case 1. The patient developed moderate interscapular pain and lower neck pain 6 hours later. At the time of her complaint of interscapular pain, she had received 120 mL epidural infusion solution without any physician administered doses. She described the pain as a constant, dull, non radiating crick in the neck between her shoulder blades, extending into her lower neck. The patient did not recognize any aggravating or alleviating factors. She noted that she had developed the exact same pain during epidural analgesia during her previous delivery. The basal infusion rate was decreased to 6 mL/h and the concentration of bupivacaine in her local anesthetic/opioid infusion was increased from 0.0625% to 0.11%. Her pain completely resolved one hour after this intervention. Approximately 15 hours after CSE analgesia initiation, the patient developed breakthrough labor pain, which was relieved with 10 mL epidural bupivacaine 0.125%. Her PCEA basal infusion rate was increased from 6 mL/h to 8 mL/h. She ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Cultural Conflicts Existing Within The Discipline Of... Question # 1: Leaving aside assignment 6 (Gibson/Key) what reading(s) did you find most compelling this week, and why? This week, singling out one compelling piece was hard, as I now see how all the pieces are linked. For example, I liked how Perestroika informs us of the trends existing within the discipline of political science, particularly the overrated focus on methods and techniques in political inquiry. I also liked how Perestroika highlights the cultural conflicts existing within the discipline, which is demonstrated by the behavior of APSR and various administrations and departments of the discipline. Perestroika dictates that the discipline needs to resolve its existing epistemological differences through tolerance and increase the understanding of these differences. Gregory Bateson s proposal for innovative thinking shows us new ways of dealing with knowledge and generating ideas. He speaks of what he calls the ecology of mind that is the aggregates of ideas. Bateson stipulates that the world we see is the world we perceive not necessarily because it exists, but because we edit the reality we see. This idea speaks to the scientific mode of inquiry, as Perestroika puts it: causality vs. meaning, objective vs. subjective, and certainty vs. skepticism. Bates suggests that the scientific research must be interactive and inclusive of the various methods of inquiry. While Bent Flyvbjerg starts with the question of whether theory is possible in ... • 39. My High School Career Have I grown and developed over the three years of my high school career? The answer to this question is a definitive yes. My life has been an amazing journey of physical, mental, and spiritual growth. My three years of high school education thus far have been extremely interesting and challenging. I learned important skills through my school involvement. Specifically, I practiced creativity and become a more understanding person. Among academic subjects, I gravitate to chemistry since I enjoyed learningabout different chemicals and their interactions. I love chemistry. It interests me to no end. Therefore, my appreciation for chemistry has influenced my career choices. After high school, I will be attending the University of Maryland Baltimore County and be majoring in Urology. I believe this is an excellent field for me, not only because I love the subject, but also because I have an inclination for science and math. Urology is an exciting and ever changing discipline in our world today. An especially fascinating aspect of this profession is the wide spectrum of opportunities available. With such a versatile degree as a Doctor of Urology, the possibilities for my future are exciting. However, I think that before a career is even considered, one must explore his motivations. In my household, education and perseverance were highly valued. The world I originate from has been shaped by my connections to people. The people that have impacted me most have been my family, ... • 41. Hop Frog Conflict Unit 2 Essay All authors have their own way of writing, but what they all have in common is conflict. Without conflict a story is boring, also conflict can be used to reveal elements about characters. Edgar Allan Poe, renowned poet and author, used conflict to reveal traits about characters in stories such as Hop Frog or The Masque of the Red Death , as well as John Green in The Fault in Our Stars, one of his most known pieces of writing. In Poe s story Hop Frog the main conflict was the King mistreated Hop Frog and his friend Trippetta, so Hop Frog tricked the King and his seven ministers into dressing up as ourang outangs and getting set on fire. In his other story The Masque of the Red Death the main conflict was the Red Death, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first way that person vs death can develop a complex or interesting character is it gives them a back story. For example, in The Fault in Our Stars the whole novel has cancer weaved into the whole plot. Cancer, in this novel, can make people like Hazel, Gus, and Isaac strong by showing that their whole life they ve been fighting to stay alive even if they fail, like Gus. Also, In Hop Frog his disabilities also give him a background of his name. Another way that person vs death contributes to the development of a complex character is it can show whether a character is scared of dying or fearless. In The Masque of The Red Death Prince Prospero locks everyone not infected up in his castle to party and keep the disease from getting in. Later, when the Red Death breaks in Prince Prospero gets angry because he thinks someone is mocking him and chases after the Red Death, which is characterized for other literary reasons. But, to almost everyone s surprise the Red Death kills Prince Prospero. This can show many traits. For example, Prince Prospero could be considered light tempered, or maybe that s because him and his kingdom was at risk of the disease, so he could also be a protective prince. But in The Fault in Our Stars Hazel s sickness gave her a different perspective on life and that mostly everything was a side effect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Criteria For A Nobel Prize Criteria for a Nobel Prize in Leadership Alan Weber (2009) wrote an article for the Washington Post, that focused on the criteria that one might use to suggest a nominee. In his article, Weber offered that candidacy for the prize should not be base upon achievement broadly defined, or abstract qualities that can be attributed to leaders, but clear and undeniable moral authority (Weber, 2009, para.1). Cook (2009) added that he would choose a nominee who has pretty much transcended his or her own ego, and who sees humanity as interconnected in a vast system to which we all, ultimately, are contributing (Cook, 2009, para.4). While these points provide a good starting point for selection the development of selection criteria, I have demined that any individual who would be a candidate for a Nobel Prize in Pauline Leadership should be characterized by the following the following: Demonstrated Christ Centered Core Values Unwavering Sense of Mission and Purpose Alignment of Character, Ethics, and Actions (Bradberry Greaves, 2012) Servant Orientation Leads by Example Humility Self Discipline (Lee, 2003) Equipping or Developing Others (Lee, 2003) Lasting Concern for the Broader Community Influence and Impact Explanation of the First Nobel Laureate As Lutheran Pastor, it should not be a surprise that I have chosen the 16th Century Reformer Martin Luther as the first Nobel Laureate in Pauline Leadership. • 44. The Consequences And Effects Of Buckthorn And Its Factors... Abstract Buckthorn (Rhamnus spp.), an invasive shrub that is found throughout Ohio, the Midwest, and most of the eastern United States, has a rapid growth rate and is able to withstand conditions that most plants cannot. Aside from that, the shrub is able to change soil properties that can have devastating consequences on management. Buckthorn also has an advantage over native species, because of the early onset of the shrub; the early arrival of buckthorn leaves allows the plant to gain more than a third of its carbon gain in the same time period that natives are still bare. In soils where the shrub has invaded, there is a higher percentage of nitrogen and carbon, with nitrogen levels often double that of levels in soils that have not been invaded. In soils where buckthorn has invaded, there is altered nitrogen mineralization rates, a higher pH, and higher soil moisture than in soils without. Due to the fact that buckthorn leaves are high in nitrogen and they drop earlier in the season compared to native species, microarthopods often colonize the litter before any other leaf litter. The increase of microarthopods leads to an increase in decomposition rates, which can have significant consequences on the soil, including altering the fertility and collapsing the soil arthropod community. Introduction Invasive species are considered one of the major causes of biodiversity loss, second only to habitat loss (Heneghan et al 2006), and some invasive species have the ability to ... Attitudes are generally positive or negative views of a person, place, thing, or event this is often referred to as the attitude object. People can also be conflicted or ambivalent toward an object, meaning that they simultaneously possess both positive and negative attitudes toward the item in question. Attitude that provides a standard against which a person evaluates the aspects of his world and serve as the knowledge function too. These functions of attitudes affect the individual s way of interpreting the information coming to him. Since attitudes intervene between work requirements and work responses, information about how people feel about their jobs can be quite useful in the predication about work response. Thus, these types of attitudes can portray areas of investigation for making the individual and the organization more compatible. Factors in Attitude Formation: The attitudes are learned. Though there are different approaches as how learning works and is acquired by an individual, generally it is held that individuals learn things from the environment in which they interact. Though it is obvious why understanding organizations is critical to business success, nevertheless it is worthwhile to review these reasons. The structure of a firm either enhances or hinders efficiency and productivity. In other words, how information flows and to whom, whether and how many parts of the work process is redundant, how clear and precise is the reporting structure, if and how new ideas and products are promoted these and many more issues are obvious consequences of structure and profoundly affect the success of the business. The recipients of this information have to be able to act quickly to stay on top. Thus, they have to be very team centered (to analyze the information and to translate it into new products and services), and they have to have a great deal of leeway with respect to decision making and authority (to respond promptly to customer needs). A growing and successful construction company prided itself on building expensive homes geared to client needs and adaptable to client wants. However, client requirements were initially not addressed in depth, methods to solicit this information were not developed (e.g., the use of software that would enable clients to imagine being inside the house as it was being built), contact was initiated only when another payment was due, and only the owner could fix the final price of the house. The net result was that the owner, in effect, convinced buyers what they should want, thereby dramatically increasing the number of client initiated changes as the clients along the way became clearer about what they wanted. Information about customer initiated changes was frequently communicated incorrectly or late to the field, even more increasing construction costs due to the need to undo work that had been already completed.
