Hook Of Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of the "Hook of Essay" is a task that demands both creativity and
precision. The challenge lies in the delicate balance between capturing the reader's attention and
setting the tone for the entire piece. The "hook" serves as the gateway to the essay, and its
effectiveness can make or break the reader's interest.
The difficulty arises from the need to devise a hook that not only intrigues but also aligns with
the overall theme and purpose of the essay. Striking the right chord requires a deep
understanding of the audience, the subject matter, and the desired emotional or intellectual
response. It's a nuanced process, akin to casting the perfect opening line in a novel – a blend
of artistry and strategy.
Choosing the appropriate type of hook, be it a compelling anecdote, a thought-provoking
question, a bold statement, or a relevant quote, adds another layer of complexity. Each option
carries its own set of challenges, as the writer must navigate the fine line between being
captivating and avoiding clichГ©s or overused tropes.
Moreover, the essayist must consider the length and structure of the hook, ensuring it seamlessly
integrates into the broader narrative. The challenge here is not only to create an attention-
grabbing introduction but also to transition smoothly into the main body of the essay. It's a
delicate dance that requires meticulous planning and a keen sense of pacing.
Despite the difficulties, mastering the art of the essay hook is a valuable skill that can elevate the
overall quality of one's writing. It's a challenge worth embracing for those seeking to engage
readers from the very first sentence and leave a lasting impression.

Exploring How Microbial Interactions Can Be Exploited

10) AGRICULTURAL BIOTECHNOLOGY: (EGAN)
Using examples, discuss how microbial interactions can be exploited for biocontrol?
What methods are available to improve the efficiency of biocontrol agents?
Natural environments tend to be balanced environments, where organisms rely on
each other and also constrain one another by competition for resources or by
parasitism, predation, etc. However, human activity has causes effects that disturbs
these balances, and this is most evident when an exotic organism is introduced on
purpose or by accident. There are a lot of serious pests, crop diseases or invasive
weeds resulting from introductions of organisms from foreign lands. The newly
introduced organisms find a favourable environment, free from ... Show more content

Prior to the use of chemical pesticides, predators which are natural enemies of those
specific pests, was a significant subject in biological sciences with respect to
agriculture and forest pest control. Biological control includes the use of predators,
competitors, pathogens and compounds of biological origin.
There are tremendous advantages of using bio control compared to chemicals
(insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides). These include consumer/occupational
safety good, no crop withholding after use, good environmental safety, high
specificity, low cost of development and low potential of resistance. In other hand,
chemical methods causes health concerns, crop withholding period after use,
restriction in export, broad spectrum toxicity to non target beneficial organism, high
potential of resistance and also accumulation in food chain. Chemical method is also
costly with long development time due to registration requirements.
Microorganisms that are exploited for bio control include viruses, bacteria, fungi and
protozoans. These may bring about disease, or may compete with or otherwise limit
the target organism. (David, 2013). A microbial toxin can be defined as a biological
toxin material derived from a microorganism, such as a bacterium or fungus. These
microorganisms can cause pathogenic effect on the target pests that are very species
specific. The effect by

Purpose
The Book of Judges bares witness to the simpleness of humans and sets forth God
s mercy, compassion, longsuffering, patience and love for His people no matter
how depraved they may be. Along with the aforementioned purposes, one of the
main aims of Judges was to demonstrate divine judgment of the apostasy of Israel.
Israel s continual disobedience to God and worship of Canaanite gods resulted in
their failure to experience divine blessing in the full conquest of her enemies.
Canaanite influence in moral and social areas lead to the apostasy and anarchy of
Israel. Therefore, the oppressors pictured and the powers of this world sought and
still seek to bring people into bondage. Judges acts as a warning to those who turn
away from God to idol worship.
Author
Though the author of the Book of Judges in unknown, internal evidence suggests
that it was written during the early days of the monarchy after the coronation of
King Saul, but before the conquest of Jerusalem by king David. For example, the
phrase, there was no king in Israel, is repeated four times toward the end of the
book (Jdg 17:6; 18:1; 19:1; 21:25). It evidently looks backward to when Israel did
have a king. Secondly, in chapter one verse twenty one , we re told that the Jebusites
are still living in Jerusalem. Apparently, that must have been written before King
David s conquest to the city (2 Sam. 5:6 7). Lastly, the reference to Canaanites in
Gezer (Jdg 1:29) suggests a date before the time the

The History Of Sexuality By Michel Foucault
The We Other Victorians chapter of the book entitled The History of Sexuality by
Michel Foucault seeks to explain the traditional and modern issues regarding
sexuality. Michel argues out that during the 17th century, sexuality was not a big
deal, and various sexual acts were pursued more or less deliberately. Primarily, there
was no taboo concerning sex and people of all age groups including children were
well aware of sexual behaviours. Michel then points out that sexuality was now
shifted to the homes where it was meant to become a personal matter between two
exclusive partners (Foucault, 1980). As such, the society manipulated and controlled
the issue of sexuality such that it became a reproductive and productive national
power. For this reason, the repression of sexuality resulted in the concentration of
supremacy as power became concurrently linked to leisure. Throughout the eighteenth
and nineteenth centuries, sexuality was a socially non existent matter, a taboo, as
well as, the dissertation of sexuality fell completely silent as populations continued to
grow rapidly. Therefore, this paper entails a critical reflection of Michel Foucault s
main arguments in this chapter. Michel argues that during the seventeenth century,
people were frank about themselves more so regarding the issue of sexual practices.
That is, words were expressed openly without any concealment and secrecy was

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Film Thank You For Smoking
Thank you for Smoking
Introduction
The film Thank you for Smoking is a dark comedy where the primary protagonist,
Nick Naylor is a lobbyist. He talks for the cigarette industry and will not extra the
American Authorities or even the press. At the in advance, the film prominently
tackles all these topics but deep down it also portrays the partnership between a dad
and a son.
Rhetorical and arguments analysis
In a single conversation between a father and a son, Naylor coaches his son Joey
by telling him the beauty of argument: if you argue correctly, you re never wrong .
This depicts a framework of Nick s personality and probably explains the reason why
as to the reasons he will not lose quarrels. It is because he reframes the ... Show more

I think that we are in need of freedom . This shows the fallacy of red herring. In this
type of rhetorical strategy, the emphasis is shifted from the primary concern for an
unrelated or tangential concern to earn a disagreement.
In another debate Naylor uses the red herring fallacy. That is explicated when he s
asked to testify before the senatorial committee. He says Gentlemen, it s called
education ... It s the job of each mother or father to alert their children of all risks
in the world, including smokes, so that 1 day when they grow older they can decide
for themselves. Here again, Nick waves from the central subject of cigarettes
compared to that of parental responsibility, freedom and education. He s well aware
that People in america love their freedom and therefore takes on with these words to
regulate their feelings.
Naylor also uses the faulty analogy fallacy in the senatorial committee conference. He
compares the Conglomerated Cigarette s cigarette financing with the financing for
the senate s marketing campaign contributions. The advertisement hominem fallacy
is utilized by Naylor when he suggests placing indicators on certain products like
Vermont cheddarcheese, aeroplanes and cars. The red herring fallacy is again used
when Naylor highlights the unwanted effects of Vermont cheddar cheeseon increasing
cholesterol levels. Actually, Senator Lothridge must interrupt to recreate Naylor and

Ferdinand Von Zeppelin
The Zeppelin is a type of rigid airship that was created by Ferdinand von Zeppelin
at Lake Constance, Germany in 1899. The first Zeppelin was 420 feet long and at
maximum velocity could go 17 miles per hour. (If any non Americans want
measurements here they are 128.016 meters and 27.3588 kilometers per hour).
This particular invention was created to solve a problem of a steerable and heavy
duty (as in it can carry many passengers and large loads of cargo). This invention
also played a large role in World War I
because it was used for bombing raids and
carrying cargo. Zeppelins also could be used for luxurious flights. Take the lz 129
Graf Zeppelin and the lz 130 Hindenburg for example they were both grand and
lavish Zeppelins which carried many people. Ever since the Hindenburg crash and
the ever expanding prevalence of airplanes the Zeppelin will probably remain
unpopular.
The Zeppelin can only function due to the following inputs and processes. The inputs
that allow the Zeppelin to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Zeppelin originally used hydrogen gas due to its more efficient lift, but when
the Hindenburg incident occurred they changed to less efficient helium gas. (It is a
known fact that hydrogen gas is four times lighter than helium gas). Ferdinand von
Zeppelin started the Luftschiff Zeppelin Company due to growing demand for
Zeppelins mostly because of the war. Today, the Zeppelin leaves a small but
known trace/legacy of filming sports (like Goodyear s Zeppelin) and recreation.
(This is because of the Hindenburg incident which led to less popularity of the
Zeppelin Airship.) This invention was also used for the first civilian bombing in
history (as a military action anyhow). As of today we have a diminishing amount of
helium in our atmosphere, but the market is still large for balloons. (Not like the
balloons for the Zeppelin, but the balloons for little
Listeriaia Meningitis Research Paper
Listeriosis is predominantly a food borne illness caused by the ubiquitous Gram
positive bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, initially recognized as a foodborne
pathogen in the early 1980s. People most prone to the disease are pregnant women,
newborns, elderly, and those with HIV or other diseases that compromise immunity.
Listeria infections are associated with a high mortality rate, thus effective treatment
and prevention are essential. Antimicrobial therapy Successful treatment of listeriosis
with ampicillin or penicillin as a monotherapy has been reported in the medical
literature. Nevertheless, since in vitro tolerance or even resistance to penicillin alone
has been described, and there are a plethora of studies showing in vitro synergy...

The bacteriemic and meningitic forms of listeriosis can be cured, but serious
complications can ensue despite prompt antimicrobial therapy. After the infection of
central nervous systems, sequelae such as strabismus, hydrocephalus and
retardation may arise. Hence the best approach is to prevent listeroisis from the get
go. General recommendations for prevention are the same as for other foodborne
infections, and include thorough cooking of raw food from animal sources, careful
washing of raw vegetables before cooking, the avoidance of unpasteurized milk, as
well as adequate hand hygiene. Those at increased risk of acquiring listeriosis should
refrain from eating soft cheeses, refrigerated pГўtes, refrigerated smoked seafood,
meat spreads, luncheon meats and deli meats (unless they are cooked until steaming
hot). Cross contamination of other foods, utensils and food preparation surfaces with
fluids from hot dog packages should be

The unemployment rate has been higher than most countries. Looking back seven
years starting at 2009 to 2015, the rate has declined as well as escalated. I will be
discussing the Month of October throughout the years because the Bureau of
Labor Statistics only has their 2015 fact until October and has not published for
the month of November. According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics as of
October 2009 the unemployment rate was at a high of 10.0 percent,2010 9.4
percent, 2011 8.8 percent, 2012 7.8 percent, 2013 7.2, 2014 5.7, and 2015 5.0.
Based on the facts comparing 2009 to 2015 the unemployment rate has literally
dropped in half. The lowest our unemployment rate has ever been was 2.5 percent
in May and June of the year 1953. The next thing I asked myself did we achieve full

according to the Glossary on page G 22, is a steadiness of the price level from one
period to the next. Keeping a zero or the low annual inflation rate, this is also called

Ben Bernanke s place, she stated in her second public speech that for the first time in
nearly a decade the United states economy will be approaching maximum
employment and price stability. There still are many questions that I have yet to
answer, has the US Government done its job and achieved full
How The Financial System Has Continuously Since The
First...
1 Introduction The financial system has continuously evolved since the first accord
was written. The financial crisis has brought light to how imperative it is to have a
stringent but flexible set of accords. Since the period of 1993 to 2008, there has
been a 12 fold increase in total assets held by global systematic important banks
while only a seven fold increase in the capital funding of these assets. Global
systematic banks are banks whose distress or failure could lead to severe
repercussions to the overall financial market due to their size, complexity and the
systemic interconnectedness. Coupled with the increase in leverage there was also an
erosion of the quality of the capital, throughout this period. The market lost
confidence in the banking institution, leading to a major contraction in liquidity
available. This transmitted throughout the rest of the economy and only with the help
of a public bailout were the damages curtailed. The globalization and
interconnectedness of the financial market has led to the phenomenal growth post
WW2. However with commerce taking place over a global scale, and the financial
market connecting lenders and savers throughout the world there has become an
apparent need for oversight and regulation. The breakdown of the Bretton Wood
exchange rate in 1973, caused banks to lose substantial money through unsettled
trades and foreign currency losses in the Herstatt risk fiasco. This led to the central
banks of the G10 countries to establish

Abstract This paper presents the original findings of an approach to adopting the bit
stream signal to control a system. It contains the initial design process and
simulations of a bit stream based PID controller to control and stabilize the output of
a proposed Capacitive Power Transfer system in the discrete time domain. Processing
The simulated results use MATLAB s Simulink and illustrate the potential
performance of the controller. Compared against simulations of a similar nature in
continuous time, the bit stream implemented system yields near identical results.

How Did The October Revolution Affect The Bolsheviks
After overthrowing the Provisional Government and forming the Sovnarkom socialist
government in the October Revolution (1917), the Bolsheviks were hampered by
problems that arose over social, political and economic factors, however to
consolidate their power, they used means of sabotage and appeasing the population.
Many decrees were published to placate the masses, such as the Decree on land and
the Decree on Workers Control, to control the economic situation. Politically, the
Bolsheviks formed the Cheka to expose and investigate all counter revolutionary and
criminal activities. What sparked the consolidation of power was the dissolution of
the Constituent Assembly.
Economically, the Bolsheviks set decrees based on land and factories to ... Show more

The Bolsheviks were concerned about their abilitiy to remain in control. This is
because the October Revolution (1917) came too late to prevent the elections of the
All Russian Constituent Assembly from going ahead in November as planned. The
voting (12 15 November 1917) occurred and the results dismayed the Bolsheviks.
Although they had won 175 seats in the assembly, they were outvoted by nearly two
to one by the SRs who won 370/707 seats and had the majority with 52%. Lenin was
worried about the results and believed that they had no need of an assembly because
to hand over power to the Constituent Assembly would again be to compromise with
the malignant bourgeoisie. With this mentality in mind, Lenin urged the Bolsheviks
to dissolve the Constituent Assembly. This occurred on 5 January 1918 when, after
a long day of negotiations and disagreements between the Bolsheviks and Left SRs
and Mensheviks and Right SRs, the meeting ended at 5am. When the delegates
arrived at 5pm for the reconvened session, they found that the Tauride Palace was
locked and guarded by Bolshevik troops who presented them with a decree declaring
that the Constituent Assembly has been dissolved. The Bolsheviks believed that the
machine gun became for them the principle instrument of political persuasion,
(Richard Pipes) which outlined their motives behind dissolving the assembly. This
contributed to formation of the Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic (RSFSR),
who formally came into being (19 July 1918), which allowed the Bolsheviks to
remain firmly in power. Thus, concluding that the dissolution of the Constituent
Assembly allowed the Bolsheviks to establish the RSFSR, which ultimately
consolidated their power at that

Digital Home Convergence
Overview
As technology and entertainment converge inside the home, major players in various
industries are taking different strategies in planning for the future. The concept of
the digital home will likely take one of two forms: a closed wired entertainment
network (PVRs, OnDemand) or an open wireless data network (web, email, VOIP,
IPTV). The closed model is already being offered in many homes across the country,
but as technology advances, the open model will become the standard. It is important
to understand how both technology and entertainment are companies are strategizing
to control the digital home .
Based on research in this report, it appears that four things are likely to occur. First, ...

Microsoft
Microsoft is taking several approaches to its digital home strategy. The first thing it
did was to release the Media PC Center in 2002. HP was the first to build a PC set
top box to run this software. Other hardware companies have been working to make
the box look more like a television companion than a PC. Microsoft s goal is to train
consumers to consider buying a PC set top box when they are upgrading their
entertainment system. The current problem with this strategy is that the boxes are
priced too high ($1900). In addition, Microsoft is going to incur significant
pioneering costs in creating a market for these new entertainment PCs .
In the event that this set top PC does not become the standard, Microsoft is also
creating strategic alliances with other hardware and broadband companies. They
are developing software for Comcast PVRs and LG DVD recorders. They will
receive $400M from SBC for the use of Microsoft TV Internet Protocol Television
Edition. Basically, they are placing bets hoping that one system will standardize. In
the words of a marketing manager at Microsoft, There is no one size fits all choice .

Apple is currently repositioning itself as a media software and consumer electronics
company due to the success of iTunes and the iPod. They were the first company to
develop a successful synergy between consumer electronics and media delivery
software. It is not unrealistic to expect some form of this strategy to

market crash in 1929 led to high economic depression and unemployment
throughout America. Steinbeck s book describes the life of two migrant workers,
Lennie and George, and their struggle to find work in California during the
depression. To escape the severity of the era many migrant workers concentrated on
and dwelt in the American Dream , the vision of owning their own piece of land,

themselves because it is so hard finding work at this time for one person let alone

The Samurai believe that if you continue to think about tomorrow, you will only
add baggage into your life (Penner, The Way of the Samurai, 2013). The Samurai
also believe in not letting failure, guilt and shame from becoming a part of
someone s life; but rather letting these things go and acting in such a way in which
you believe is right (Penner, The Way of the Samurai, 2013). This way, you will
knowingly act in a way in which is a part of the one and not acting for self greed.
Heidegger believes that we should care as to how we life and the things within it;
however, the Samurai disagree. Heidegger s explanation of death is that it brings
angst and that we stop and consider how it would affect us in our day to day lives
(Penner, Heidegger and the Gift of Death, 2013). Heidegger says we use the angst
to confront death and that it changes our plans that we construct for our lives
(Penner, Heidegger and the Gift of Death, 2013). I do not necessarily see death as
a way to change our plans that we make as I believe with every new day should bring

This way closely resembles the Way of the Samurai as when you kill yourself every

Hardships In The Grapes Of Wrath By Rudy Ruettiger
Josh Turner once said, Life is a series of punches. It presents a lot of challenges. It
presents a lot of hardship, but the people that are able to take those punches and
able to move forward are the ones that really do have a lot of success and have a lot
of joy in their life and have a lot of stories to tell, too (Hardship Quotes). Rudy
Ruettiger had many struggles in his life that set him back. He has taken those
punches from life and moved forward getting closer to his dream every step of the
way. He defied everyone s doubts and beat the odds. This man wanted so badly to

On Death
Cultures all over the world have different convictions surrounding the final, inevitable
end for all humans death. In the United States, and in most Westernized cultures we
tend to view death as something that can be avoided through the use of medicine,
artificial respiration machines, and the like. To us, death is not a simple passing,
and usually, we do not accept it as a normal part of life. Death, to Westernized folk,
is not celebrated, but is rather something to be feared, something that haunts us all in
the back of our minds. However, this mentality is not held through all cultures in

Many existentialists believe that religious, metaphysical, agnostic or atheistic
convictions alter the true meaninglessness of the act, but that through understanding
death as being meaningless, we actually add to the meaning in our own lives. If a
human becomes capable of accepting courageously, as the boys did, the absolute
certainty of his death, he grows more authentic and begins to fill his life with new
meaning. In fact, there is a close correlation between the courage to face the
unavoidablity of death, and then through that, to find a balanced view and
perspective on their place in the living world. This idea is not just shown in
existentialist literature like The Sailor, but is embedded within literature that we all
grew up with. In many ways, a simple fairy tale can have numerous parallels with
Mishima s ideologies. For example, in one fairy tale the story of a chivalrous knight
a knight must go out into the woods on an agreed upon day to face the Green Knight,
who represents death. Here, he has to let the mysterious knight cut off his head. As he
goes into the forest, accepting his impending death, he meets a beautiful princess, and
stays with her for three days. This hostess thrice attempts to seduce him but to no
avail. Bound by his chivalrous duties as a knight, the young man goes out into the

Diseases such as tuberculosis, smallpox, measles, chickenpox, cholera, whooping

Plantation owners and their slaves would have the same diseases, but plantation

Psychoalysis In Oedipus
Sophocles Oedipus is a renowned tragedy which hasn t lost its bite even to this day.
It has multiple alternate titles including Oedipus the King and Oedipus Tyrannous .
In the play Oedipus, king of Thebes, having heard that his city is being ravaged by
fire and plague, sends his brother in law Creon to find a remedy from the oracle of
Apollo at Delphi. When Creon returns Oedipuscommences to investigate the death of
his predecessor, Laius, and discovers through various accounts that he himself was
the one who had unknowingly killed Laius and then wed his own mother, Jocasta. In
reaction to this news, Oedipus is mortified to the fullest extreme mutilating his eyes,
and leaving the court. Jocasta commits suicide, and the tragedy takes its full course.
Sigmund Freud, a renowned father of modern psychology, cerebrates this, as in his
view his psychoanalysisilluminated the relevancy and power of the play, rather
than the other way around. Sophocles is able to reflect the edifications of
psychoanalysis in Oedipus . Freud s Oedipus Complex is very consequential in
Sophocles Oedipus for giving a psychoanalytical reading on it. The Oedipus
complex was his theory of mind, and as such he asserted that present day mental
illnesses were related to this complex. The Oedipus complex is predicated on Freud
s observation that children are seen commonly to have fallen in love with one parent
and developed an abhorrence for the other. According to Freud, Oedipus
Vietnam And The Vietnam War
There are two sides to everything. The Vietnam War changed a lot of people all
around the world. The Vietnam War was between North Vietnam and South Vietnam.
The Vietnam War was a very bloody and violent war. The war was a long and costly
armed conflict. This war changed Vietnam and its citizens forever.
During the Vietnam War, North Vietnam and South Vietnamboth had received help
from other countries. South Vietnam worked with the United States, South Korea,
Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand. North Vietnam worked with the Soviet Union
and China. The Vietnam War started in 1954 and ended in 1975. The Vietnam War
started because the North Vietnamese government and the Viet Cong were fighting to
reunify Vietnam under communist rule. The war was considered a colonial war. In
this war, South Vietnam wanted communist rule to stop but North Vietnam wanted
there to be communist rule. North Vietnam controlled South Vietnam for many years.
North Vietnam drained their resources, they demanded that South Vietnam did most
of the fighting, and pay most of the expenses. South Vietnam was more interested in
political games but their political leadership and military leadership were both
corrupt. In 1955, American President Dwight D. Eisenhower had pledged his support
to Ngo Dinh Diem (South Vietnam s leader) and South Vietnam. With training and
equipment from American military and police, Diem s security forces cracked down
on Viet Minh s supporters. By 1957, the Vietnamese
Stonewall Jackson During The American Civil War
On January 21, 1824 around midnight in Clarksburg, Virginia, now West Virginia,
one of the South s greatest Generals during the American Civil War was born. This
was Thomas Johnathan Jackson, also known as Stonewall Jackson. He was the third
born out of four siblings. His parents were Julia Beckwith Neale and Johnathan
Jackson (Stonewall Jackson). Jackson s childhood was very rough. When he was
two, his father and older sister died of typhoid fever within the same year. The
death of his father caused his mother to be widowed and left with little money and
many debts. To support her, now three, children, she sewed and taught. Not only that,
in order for her to fix the financial issues, she was forced to sell their property and
home. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this, Jackson was a part of Major General Winfield Scott s army. He
participated in the Siege of Veracruz and the campaign against Mexico City (T.J.
Stonewall Jackson). While fighting, he earned two Brevet promotions and a
permanent tittle of First Lieutenant. He also was a part of the assault of Chapultepec
Castle. There, he again proved himself and was ranked up to Major (American Civil
War: Lieutenant General Thomas Stonewall Jackson). Jackson then returned to the
United States post war and accepted a teaching job at Virginia Military Institute in
Lexington. He was a Professor of Natural and Experimental Philosophy and also an
Instructor of Artillery. Although, his students were not fond of him. In the time of
him teaching, he married twice. His first wife was the daughter of Presbyterian
Minister, Dr. George Junkin, Elinor Junkin (Stonewall Jackson). Like Jackson s
mother, Elinor died of childbirth on October 22, 1854 of a stillborn son (Elinor
Junkin). July 1857, after a tour of Europe, he remarried Mary Anna Morrison.
Approximately two years later, they had a daughter. Unfortunately, less than a
month later, the baby died (T.J. Stonewall Jackson). In November, Jackson got back
into military life. He served as a Virginia Military Institute (VMI) officer following
John Brown s raid on Harper s Ferry (American Civil War: Lieutenant General
Thomas Stonewall Jackson). Due to this attack, he was ordered to provide
The Effect of Fantasy Fiction
Our future here on this Earth is a bleak one. Our society is on a dangerous slope of
promoting vanity at a rate that is ever more increasing, and thus resulting in stunted
mental capacities.
We are teaching the youth of today to disregard literature as a whole while we shove
products and electronics down their throats. With the fast paced changes of social
media, there comes a decrease in attention, which is crucial to critical thinking skills,
analytical skills, and the time it takes to process information. The Pew online survey,
which polled 2,462 middle and high school teachers, 87% report that these
technologies are creating an easily distracted generation with short attention spans,
and
64% say that digital technologies do more to distract students than to help them
academically. Ellen
Galinsky. (n.d.). While being basically forced to remain focused on the outward
image through aggressive outlets of ego and narcissism, such as Instagram for
example (and this is a great example), there is this society that totally negates the
importance of the mind. Though body image can be healthy in moderation, we are
completely neglecting wisdom and forgetting the power of a great book that
encourages our minds to flourish and practically fill to the brim with imagination.
Whether we choose to want to believe it or not, we are indefinitely leaning towards a
lost generation if we do not put back the importance and nourishment of the minds of
our youth through the help of Fantasy
Domestic Ring Main Circuit ( Ac )
Domestic ring main circuit
Two ends of the rings are connected towards the same terminal at the consumer unit,
then the current will travel in the two directions so that the cables do not have too
much current that it cannot handle it enough. When there is long lengths of cable,
the electricity will lose its power to work and oppositely trying to apply too much
current on a cable will be potentially dangerous to anyone handling it. So therefore
the use of and benefits of domestic ring main delivers ensures that both ends receive
power evenly and keep the load light as much as possible.

The Walking Dead Maggie Greene Analysis
The Walking Dead: Maggie Greene
The Walking Dead is full of drama and death. The only thing we really know is to
stay away from the bloodthirsty walkers and try to live. Maggie Greene is trying to
survive in a post apocalyptic world that doesn t care if she lives or dies. Maggie s
traits, purpose, and beliefs are what make her grow from a young woman to a woman
with a warrior s leadership skills. Maggie s traits that she gained from her father
helped make her the woman she is today. Her father, Hershel Greene, was a well
respected southern Veterinarian and farmer. He always instilled in Maggie to have
faith. Faith is in her roots, and always helps her when she s feeling lost or down.
When Maggie s mother died she started to shoplift and smoke, but she eventually
realized that wasn t the right thing to do and restored her faith. Hershel also taught
Maggie to be honest and loyal. Her loyalty shows when Ricks group shows up to

The Authority Of Religious Elites In The 1640s Witch Hunts
The Authority of Religious Elites in the 1640s Witch Hunts The large scale witch
hunts that occurred from 1638 to 1651 gathered momentum via major happenings in
the political, societal, and religious domains developing at the time. Individuals who
had either political, religious or economic power in society, also known as elites,
together had absolute control over the pursuit and prosecution of individuals who
partook in witchcraft. The clergy played a crucial role in the witchcraft prosecutions
and were slower than the state and localities to desert their beliefs in the reality of
witches as the prosecution of witchcraft was, in their eyes, an effective tool to
eradicate social deviance. Though local authorities and the Parliament did contribute
to the witch hunts significantly, without the kirk of Scotlanddeclaring and
encouraging this sanction on witchcraft, both other parties would not have taken the
actions they ultimately did. This essay will provide a brief description of events that
took place from 1638 to 1651 and then utilize evidence from a multitude of sources
to argue that the religious elites were the most influential of these forces during the
witchcraft prosecutions that occurred in the 1640s. Due to the Scots dissatisfaction
with the current monarch, King Charles I, the National Covenant was formed by on
February 28th in 1638 at Greyfrairs Kirk in Edinburgh. All his subjects were

The Role of Women in Australia 1900-1941 Essay
YR 12 HISTORY AUSTRALIA 1901 1941 Aim: „«To describe the nature of
the role, and lives, of women in Australia before, during, and after World War One
„«To identify, and describe the extent of, the international influences on the
role, and lives, of women in Australia before, during and after World War One
Australian women prior to World War One lived a life that consisted of traditional
female roles similar to those of their British and Irish relatives. Their value in
society was based on their ability to bear and raise children and maintain a home
and they were dependent on the financial support of their husbands. Families of 10
or 12 children were common in this era and daily home life was described as

These female nurses provided medical help for the wounded soldiers at Gallipoli
and also on the Western Front. As most of the hospital stations were near the front
line many nurses were exposed to aerial bombs and shelling. They were expected
to work in primitive conditions; some hospitals were equipped for a mere 520
people yet held 2500 during the wartime. As a result of the long hours and poor
conditions many nurses suffered serious illnesses. A total of 2139 Australian nurses
served overseas and of these 25 died. Through enduring such adverse conditions
nurses proved extreme dedication towards the war effort and their country. As nurses
were the only women allowed to directly contribute to the war effort, the women who
couldnВЎВ¦t serve sought to boost morale, raise money and provide comfort for
soldiers, especially those who were sick or wounded. A particularly popular attempt
to assist the soldiers was that through knitting. Some 600,000 socks were knitted for
the troops from NSW alone. Women all over the nation knitted socks and various
other items to send to the front line, many with personal notes of encouragement
attached. Additionally, ВЎВ§comfort boxesВЎВЁ were compiled containing various

How Did Dorothea Dix Changed The Lives Of The Mentally
Ill
There s 7 billion (give or take a few) people on this Earth. Every single solitary one
of them is capable of changing the world in a major way, like Dorothea Dix did.
Dorothea Dix was a woman of the mid 1800 s who devoted her life to visiting homes
and hospitals for the mentally ill and fixing them up. She founded countless mental
hospitals, she changed how people thought of and treated the mentally ill, and she got
important political figures to help her with her cause. Dorothea Dixchanged the lives
of the mentally ill for all of time to come.
Dorothea Dix founded numerous hospitals and treatment centers for the mentally
ill. In my research I found on an online resource that, In all she played a major role
in the founding of 32 mental hospitals, 15 schools for the feeble minded, a school
for the blind, and numerous nurse training facilities. This quote shows her effort to
make the lives of the mentally ill better by giving them a safe place to live. This,
however, is not all she did for the mentally ill. ... Show more content on

She did this by being influential to her peers and changing their thoughts on the
mentally ill. In the book I read about her, it stated After one State Representative
claimed the wants of the insane in New Jersey are all humbug Dix spoke for nearly
an hour on the atrocities she d seen in his own district. The daring move won his
support. (p. 55). This quote shows how with her persuasive attitude and word choice
she could change people s opinions on the mentally ill and rally support. This
government official is not the only one she got to join her campaign for the mentally
Hillary Swank Essay
Freedom writers is a story about struggles and will to make a change that debuted
in 2007. The lead actress in this film was Hillary swank who plays Erin Gruwell.
Her impersonator acting style made her a more effective actress because not only
does she portrays the character accurately, she becomes the character. With that being
said, she seems to be the perfect person for the role. This statement is proven many
times throughout the film. In the beginning of the film she enters a chaotic classroom
not knowing what to do or how to handle everything that has been thrown at her. This
portrayal of the character was so convincing that you started to believe she is a shy
first time teacher. In another scene her character stood against the school system to...

The emotion she conveyed was so powerful you would think she really is a teacher
fighting for what she wants. With these points in line I will restate my position of
Hillary swank being quite effective as an actress portraying the role.
The protagonist of the film is Erin Gruwell, a first time teacher with the thirst for
change. The film begins with her interview to become a new teacher for a high
school in the projects. The film follows her journey from a new teacher that was
timid with a class not wanting to learn, to a confident teacher with a class full of
students who thirst for knowledge. The antagonist of the film is Margret camp,
because she does everything in her power to stop Erin from progressing with her
students. This opposition includes refusing to give the students the required books
she asked for and permission to go on a field trip with the students. The foil of the
film was Brian Gelford who was the juniors teacher, because he was pessimistic
toward the students academic outcome compared to Erin s optimism. This statement
is shown through the discussion the two had in the teachers lounge,
Foxtel Rebranding Essay
Foxtel Considers Rebranding but Not Likely to Happen Soon

immemorial, but its recent merger with News Corp s Fox Sports brings the
possibility of rebranding closer to actuality. The unification of the two companies was
announced in August of last year and was finally completed weeks ago, two months
earlier than anticipated.
News Corp now holds 65 percent of the new Foxtel while Telstra holds 35 percent.

country s media industry, instigates the question everyone has in mind will Foxtel s

It is reported to be a long term consideration but only after the newly merged
business completes its overhaul. News Corp Australasia chairman Michael Miller
explained that their initial focus will be to maximise the collaboration of the two
businesses along with their broadcast brands. Adding the issue of rebranding into the
mix will only serve as a distraction and is not in line with their current primary
objective.
Sources also revealed that changing the Foxtel brand may have been considered for
some time, but some executives, including new chief executive Patrick Delany
believed it was somehow pointless to introduce rebranding if there aren t new product
offerings to attract consumers. The rationale would be that rebranding serves no
purpose without new services to justify the said name modification.
Nevertheless, the supposed to be grounds behind the planned rebranding would be
to give the company a literally fresh start in the form of a new name in order to
eliminate the deep rooted consumer perception about Foxtel being old and costly.
This is why Foxtel s subscription costs have seen substantial decreases in the past
four years while still incorporating the newest technology as part of its service

limitless desire. And Toru Iwatani cleverly wins on designing such a game based
on this knowledge. No matter which client you play on, either PC or other game

background music enables players to distinguish the progress of the game. With
beating notes playing next to players ears, the thrill journey begins with hiding
from chasing enemies. Gradually, some planning risk taking tricks appear in

A norm is a rule of behavior of individuals in society or groups, Emile Durkheim
sociological founder considered norms to be social factors that exist in individual s
society of independence that creates the shapes of our behaviors and thoughts

society would have no function without enforcing social orders that make daily life

19th Century Research Paper
There have been many great inventions in the past few decades such as, computers
and smartphones, but what about things from over one hundred years ago? These
items have been around for over a century and yet we take these great inventions for
their time for granted. People take so many things for granted that they have in this
world and feel as if these things will never go away. It takes losing things to fully
appreciate what we have. People want the hottest new thing every year like phones or
other material goods that they do not need. This has created a society where everyone
feels that they will always have everything. The nineteenth century had many great

Franz Liszt As A Hungarian Pianist From The Romantic
Period
Franz Liszt was an extremely talented Hungarian pianist from the romantic period.
Liszt was born on October 22, 1811 in Raiding, Hungary. Liszt s father was ГЃdГЎm
Liszt, an official in the service of Prince Nicolas EszterhГЎzy, whose palace was
often visited by celebrated musicians. ГЃdГЎm Liszt was a talented amateur
musician who played cello, as well as several other instruments in court concerts.
Franz Liszts father passionately taught him how to play piano, and by the age of 6,
was already recognized as a child Prodigy. At this age, Liszt began to show interest
in both church and gypsy music. He developed into a religious child, partly
because of his father who spent two years of his youth in the Franciscan order. By
the age of eight, Liszt began to compose elementary works. At the age of nine, he
made his first public appearance as a concert pianist at Sopron and Pozsony. His
playing impressed the local Hungarian magnates so much that they put up the
money to pay for his musical education for the next six years. His father took a
leave of absence from the Prince, so that he could devote his time to helping his son
s musical education. They went to Vienna, where he learned piano with Carl Czerney,
a composer and pianist who had been a pupil of Beethoven, and studied composition
with Antonio Salieri, the musical director at the Viennese Court and one of Mozart s
rivals. Liszt continued to perform concerts with great success, his most notable talent

Shooting Stars Analysis Carol Ann Duffyt
Shooting Star Carol Ann Duffy The poem Shooting Stars by Carol Ann Duffy tells
a shocking story of a female prisoner held by Nazis in a concentration camp around
the time of the Holocaust. The poem is set in 1940, Hitler and his Nazi party had
taken control of most of Europe and had vowed to exterminate the entire Jewish
race. Duffy s haunting use of imagery and word choice make this poem so
memorable and its very strong opening prepares the reader for the rest of the poem.
The title choice, Shooting Stars is a very effective and ambiguous. The first
meaning is that the word Stars represents the Jewish symbol in which is The Star of

Although Duffy narrows into the rape at first with a subtle manor by saying One

next is enough to make anyone feel the sheer impact of what has just occurred. The
horror of what is happening to the poor innocent Jew continues as Duffy says My
bowels opened in a ragged gape of fear I believe this is one of the lines in the poem
which has most impact toward the reader. The long vowel sounds and the graphic
imagery of the event is etched into your mind. The single word gape mirrors the
word rape which leaves the horrific image in the readers head of what is happening
to the Jewish girl and it makes you empathise with her situation. I could see a child
the soldiers had no morals, the meaning of right and wrong had been torn away from
the soldiers and acts of brutality were happening to women and children. I shot her in

the soldiers shot the innocent child in the eye. In addition links with the clear horrific
imagery Duffy is using whilst building up toward the main event of the poem which
is the murdering of the persona. The unashamed soldiers continue their horrific acts

Merger Of Hewlett Packard Company
INTRODUCTION
The paper will examine the merger of Hewlett Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) and
Compaq Computer Corporation in 2001. The following key issues will be examined:
reasons for the merger
reasons against the merger
assessment of the performance of the consolidated company since the merger
completion.
BACKGROUND OF THE COMPANIES
Hewlett Packard (HP) is a leading technology solutions provider for both consumers
and businesses. We invent, engineer and deliver technology solutions that drive
business value, create social value and improve the lives of our customers
(Hewlett Packard Company Company Profile, 2002). Hewlett Packard was
created in 1939 by two Stanford University Graduates, William Hewlett and David
Packard. The company had a product line of eight items a resistance capacity
oscillator. In 1998, Hewlett Packard launched a comprehensive review of its
operations. In July, 1999, HP named Carleton (Carly) S. Fiorina as President and
CEO. Fiorina was responsible for HP s reorganization into a company that makes
the internet work for businesses and consumers. (Hewlett Packard Company
Company Profile, 2002). HP had positioned itself to deliver Web services, intelligent
devices and servers and infrastructure of servers and software.
Compaq Computers built a portable PC in 1980 that met a lukewarm reception. In
1982, HP entered the market with IBM clones computers that looked and performed
like IBM PCs, but with a price point much lower than the IBM
Smoking Causes Premature Smoking
Imagine turning forty two years old then looking in the mirror and you look
double your age. This is what smoking cigarettes will do to you. This ad by
Nicotinell is trying to explain that smoking cigarettes will cause premature aging.
In this image, there is a lady celebrating her forty second birthday, but she doesn t
look forty two at all. She looks like a grandmother in her eighties. I found this
picture on Google Images while searching for PSA s. I decided to go with this
picture because it was really eye catching and very straight forward. This PSA targets
cigarettesmokers because the brand Nicotinell sells patches to stop nicotineaddiction.
It also says Smokingcauses premature aging on the PSA also. This PSA illustrates
a point by making it very obvious that smoking causes premature aging. This
imagine is important to me because my mother smokes cigarettes and I want to
show this paper to her when I am finished to hopefully get her to stop smoking
cigarettes! This image can be analyzed by looking at eight rhetorical factors:
character roles, setting, type of photo, distance from subject, orientation/camera
angle, use of color, point of view and image manipulation. First, character roles.
There is only one character is this PSA but she plays a major role in what they are
trying to say. She is a forty two year old lady that looks eighty years old. In this
picture, she is lighting her cigarette on the candle which is the number four. The other
candle is the number
The Low Water Levels in Lake Bridgeport
Lake Bridgeport was built in 1930 for flood control, water storage and recreation.
Tarrant County owns the land and water that makes the lake. There is a spillway
that takes water through the Trinity River to Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Worth.
This year has been a rough year for Lake Bridgeport with three digit temperatures
and draining water to the other lakes. Since one of the purposes to build Lake
Bridgeport was for storage, The Tarrant County water district approved to let out
20,000 acre feet of water from Lake Bridgeport to prevent the other lakes to be low.
But 2013 is anything but a normal year. Today, what once was a scenic lake is
covered in chest high weeds. Boaters and fisherman enjoy going to Lake
Bridgeport during the summer. But in the summer of 2013 the boat ramps were
unusable so the number of residents going to the lake dropped. There are dead fish
floating to the shoreline as well as many other wildlife animals. The lake tested
positive for Zebra Mussel larva, which is shell like creatures that are very sharp
and stick to boats, anchors and docks. The Mussels are very dangerous for the lake
environment, but they also eat bacteria so they could help the lake water clear up. If
no water is drained out of Lake Bridgeport then the residents of Eagle Mountain Lake
and Lake Worth could possibly run out of drinking water.
Problem: The Lake is the place to be on a hot summer day, but how is it supposed to
be any fun when the lake is drying up each day.
The Importance of an Individual s Medical and Social
History
There are various factors that may contribute to one s quality of life. However,
many older adults struggle with their well being and this is just as important as the
quality of their life. When evaluating an older adult, one must take into consideration
the following factors: the individual s acute and/or chronic illnesses; medications
currently taking; functional status; mental health and cognitive abilities; and their
living situation. Gathering this information is based on the individual s medical
history as well as their social history. However, the goal is to make
recommendations to improve the quality of life for the individual as one sees
applies. First, evaluate the history of the selected individual by gathering basic
information such as name, age, where the person is from and any history of the
person s illnesses. This information can also help determine making
recommendations and coming up with conclusions to better the individual. Ms. J.M.
is a 85 year widowed woman from Puerto Rico. Ms. J.M currently lives in Northwest
Washington, DC. She suffers from both chronic and acute illnesses. Ms. J.M. stated
that she was a healthy individual until her health took the turn for the worst age she
aged into her 50s. She also informed me that she had two procedures completed,
which were heart catherization at the age of 53 years old and knee surgery at the age
of 60. Ms. J.M enjoys attending Church every Sunday at Saint Augustine in
Washington, DC. Although

Hook Of Essay

  • 1. Hook Of Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of the "Hook of Essay" is a task that demands both creativity and precision. The challenge lies in the delicate balance between capturing the reader's attention and setting the tone for the entire piece. The "hook" serves as the gateway to the essay, and its effectiveness can make or break the reader's interest. The difficulty arises from the need to devise a hook that not only intrigues but also aligns with the overall theme and purpose of the essay. Striking the right chord requires a deep understanding of the audience, the subject matter, and the desired emotional or intellectual response. It's a nuanced process, akin to casting the perfect opening line in a novel – a blend of artistry and strategy. Choosing the appropriate type of hook, be it a compelling anecdote, a thought-provoking question, a bold statement, or a relevant quote, adds another layer of complexity. Each option carries its own set of challenges, as the writer must navigate the fine line between being captivating and avoiding clichГ©s or overused tropes. Moreover, the essayist must consider the length and structure of the hook, ensuring it seamlessly integrates into the broader narrative. The challenge here is not only to create an attention- grabbing introduction but also to transition smoothly into the main body of the essay. It's a delicate dance that requires meticulous planning and a keen sense of pacing. Despite the difficulties, mastering the art of the essay hook is a valuable skill that can elevate the overall quality of one's writing. What methods are available to improve the efficiency of biocontrol agents? Natural environments tend to be balanced environments, where organisms rely on each other and also constrain one another by competition for resources or by parasitism, predation, etc. However, human activity has causes effects that disturbs these balances, and this is most evident when an exotic organism is introduced on purpose or by accident. There are a lot of serious pests, crop diseases or invasive weeds resulting from introductions of organisms from foreign lands. The newly introduced organisms find a favourable environment, free from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prior to the use of chemical pesticides, predators which are natural enemies of those specific pests, was a significant subject in biological sciences with respect to agriculture and forest pest control. Biological control includes the use of predators, competitors, pathogens and compounds of biological origin. There are tremendous advantages of using bio control compared to chemicals (insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides). These include consumer/occupational safety good, no crop withholding after use, good environmental safety, high specificity, low cost of development and low potential of resistance. In other hand, chemical methods causes health concerns, crop withholding period after use, restriction in export, broad spectrum toxicity to non target beneficial organism, high potential of resistance and also accumulation in food chain. Chemical method is also costly with long development time due to registration requirements. Microorganisms that are exploited for bio control include viruses, bacteria, fungi and protozoans. These may bring about disease, or may compete with or otherwise limit the target organism. (David, 2013). A microbial toxin can be defined as a biological toxin material derived from a microorganism, such as a bacterium or fungus. These microorganisms can cause pathogenic effect on the target pests that are very species specific. The effect by
  • 3. God s Mercy, Compassion, Patience And Love For Those Who... Purpose The Book of Judges bares witness to the simpleness of humans and sets forth God s mercy, compassion, longsuffering, patience and love for His people no matter how depraved they may be. Along with the aforementioned purposes, one of the main aims of Judges was to demonstrate divine judgment of the apostasy of Israel. Israel s continual disobedience to God and worship of Canaanite gods resulted in their failure to experience divine blessing in the full conquest of her enemies. Canaanite influence in moral and social areas lead to the apostasy and anarchy of Israel. Therefore, the oppressors pictured and the powers of this world sought and still seek to bring people into bondage. Judges acts as a warning to those who turn away from God to idol worship. Author Though the author of the Book of Judges in unknown, internal evidence suggests that it was written during the early days of the monarchy after the coronation of King Saul, but before the conquest of Jerusalem by king David. For example, the phrase, there was no king in Israel, is repeated four times toward the end of the book (Jdg 17:6; 18:1; 19:1; 21:25). It evidently looks backward to when Israel did have a king. Secondly, in chapter one verse twenty one , we re told that the Jebusites are still living in Jerusalem. Apparently, that must have been written before King David s conquest to the city (2 Sam. 5:6 7). Lastly, the reference to Canaanites in Gezer (Jdg 1:29) suggests a date before the time the

  • 5. The History Of Sexuality By Michel Foucault The We Other Victorians chapter of the book entitled The History of Sexuality by Michel Foucault seeks to explain the traditional and modern issues regarding sexuality. Michel argues out that during the 17th century, sexuality was not a big deal, and various sexual acts were pursued more or less deliberately. Primarily, there was no taboo concerning sex and people of all age groups including children were well aware of sexual behaviours. Michel then points out that sexuality was now shifted to the homes where it was meant to become a personal matter between two exclusive partners (Foucault, 1980). As such, the society manipulated and controlled the issue of sexuality such that it became a reproductive and productive national power. For this reason, the repression of sexuality resulted in the concentration of supremacy as power became concurrently linked to leisure. Throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, sexuality was a socially non existent matter, a taboo, as well as, the dissertation of sexuality fell completely silent as populations continued to grow rapidly. Therefore, this paper entails a critical reflection of Michel Foucault s main arguments in this chapter. Michel argues that during the seventeenth century, people were frank about themselves more so regarding the issue of sexual practices. That is, words were expressed openly without any concealment and secrecy was something did not exist at all. As such, anybody had the right to know anything

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Film Thank You For Smoking Thank you for Smoking Introduction The film Thank you for Smoking is a dark comedy where the primary protagonist, Nick Naylor is a lobbyist. He talks for the cigarette industry and will not extra the American Authorities or even the press. At the in advance, the film prominently tackles all these topics but deep down it also portrays the partnership between a dad and a son. Rhetorical and arguments analysis In a single conversation between a father and a son, Naylor coaches his son Joey by telling him the beauty of argument: if you argue correctly, you re never wrong . This depicts a framework of Nick s personality and probably explains the reason why as to the reasons he will not lose quarrels. It is because he reframes the ... In this type of rhetorical strategy, the emphasis is shifted from the primary concern for an unrelated or tangential concern to earn a disagreement. In another debate Naylor uses the red herring fallacy. That is explicated when he s asked to testify before the senatorial committee. He says Gentlemen, it s called education ... It s the job of each mother or father to alert their children of all risks in the world, including smokes, so that 1 day when they grow older they can decide for themselves. Here again, Nick waves from the central subject of cigarettes compared to that of parental responsibility, freedom and education. He s well aware that People in america love their freedom and therefore takes on with these words to regulate their feelings. Naylor also uses the faulty analogy fallacy in the senatorial committee conference. He compares the Conglomerated Cigarette s cigarette financing with the financing for the senate s marketing campaign contributions. The advertisement hominem fallacy is utilized by Naylor when he suggests placing indicators on certain products like Vermont cheddarcheese, aeroplanes and cars. The red herring fallacy is again used when Naylor highlights the unwanted effects of Vermont cheddar cheeseon increasing cholesterol levels. The first Zeppelin was 420 feet long and at maximum velocity could go 17 miles per hour. (If any non Americans want measurements here they are 128.016 meters and 27.3588 kilometers per hour). This particular invention was created to solve a problem of a steerable and heavy duty (as in it can carry many passengers and large loads of cargo). This invention also played a large role in World War I because it was used for bombing raids and carrying cargo. Zeppelins also could be used for luxurious flights. Take the lz 129 Graf Zeppelin and the lz 130 Hindenburg for example they were both grand and lavish Zeppelins which carried many people. Listeriaia Meningitis Research Paper Listeriosis is predominantly a food borne illness caused by the ubiquitous Gram positive bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, initially recognized as a foodborne pathogen in the early 1980s. People most prone to the disease are pregnant women, newborns, elderly, and those with HIV or other diseases that compromise immunity. Listeria infections are associated with a high mortality rate, thus effective treatment and prevention are essential. • 10. How The Financial System Has Continuously Since The First... 1 Introduction The financial system has continuously evolved since the first accord was written. The financial crisis has brought light to how imperative it is to have a stringent but flexible set of accords. Since the period of 1993 to 2008, there has been a 12 fold increase in total assets held by global systematic important banks while only a seven fold increase in the capital funding of these assets. Global systematic banks are banks whose distress or failure could lead to severe repercussions to the overall financial market due to their size, complexity and the systemic interconnectedness. Coupled with the increase in leverage there was also an erosion of the quality of the capital, throughout this period. The market lost confidence in the banking institution, leading to a major contraction in liquidity available. This transmitted throughout the rest of the economy and only with the help of a public bailout were the damages curtailed. The globalization and interconnectedness of the financial market has led to the phenomenal growth post WW2. However with commerce taking place over a global scale, and the financial market connecting lenders and savers throughout the world there has become an apparent need for oversight and regulation. The breakdown of the Bretton Wood exchange rate in 1973, caused banks to lose substantial money through unsettled trades and foreign currency losses in the Herstatt risk fiasco. This led to the central banks of the G10 countries to establish

Many decrees were published to placate the masses, such as the Decree on land and the Decree on Workers Control, to control the economic situation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Bolsheviks were concerned about their abilitiy to remain in control. This is because the October Revolution (1917) came too late to prevent the elections of the All Russian Constituent Assembly from going ahead in November as planned. The voting (12 15 November 1917) occurred and the results dismayed the Bolsheviks. Although they had won 175 seats in the assembly, they were outvoted by nearly two to one by the SRs who won 370/707 seats and had the majority with 52%. Lenin was worried about the results and believed that they had no need of an assembly because to hand over power to the Constituent Assembly would again be to compromise with the malignant bourgeoisie. With this mentality in mind, Lenin urged the Bolsheviks to dissolve the Constituent Assembly. This occurred on 5 January 1918 when, after a long day of negotiations and disagreements between the Bolsheviks and Left SRs and Mensheviks and Right SRs, the meeting ended at 5am. When the delegates arrived at 5pm for the reconvened session, they found that the Tauride Palace was locked and guarded by Bolshevik troops who presented them with a decree declaring that the Constituent Assembly has been dissolved. The Bolsheviks believed that the machine gun became for them the principle instrument of political persuasion, (Richard Pipes) which outlined their motives behind dissolving the assembly. This contributed to formation of the Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic (RSFSR), who formally came into being (19 July 1918), which allowed the Bolsheviks to remain firmly in power. Thus, concluding that the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly allowed the Bolsheviks to establish the RSFSR, which ultimately consolidated their power at that

Microsoft s goal is to train consumers to consider buying a PC set top box when they are upgrading their entertainment system. The current problem with this strategy is that the boxes are priced too high ($1900). Many existentialists believe that religious, metaphysical, agnostic or atheistic convictions alter the true meaninglessness of the act, but that through understanding death as being meaningless, we actually add to the meaning in our own lives. If a human becomes capable of accepting courageously, as the boys did, the absolute certainty of his death, he grows more authentic and begins to fill his life with new meaning. In fact, there is a close correlation between the courage to face the unavoidablity of death, and then through that, to find a balanced view and perspective on their place in the living world. This idea is not just shown in existentialist literature like The Sailor, but is embedded within literature that we all grew up with. The Authority Of Religious Elites In The 1640s Witch Hunts The Authority of Religious Elites in the 1640s Witch Hunts The large scale witch hunts that occurred from 1638 to 1651 gathered momentum via major happenings in the political, societal, and religious domains developing at the time. Individuals who had either political, religious or economic power in society, also known as elites, together had absolute control over the pursuit and prosecution of individuals who partook in witchcraft. The clergy played a crucial role in the witchcraft prosecutions and were slower than the state and localities to desert their beliefs in the reality of witches as the prosecution of witchcraft was, in their eyes, an effective tool to eradicate social deviance. Though local authorities and the Parliament did contribute to the witch hunts significantly, without the kirk of Scotlanddeclaring and encouraging this sanction on witchcraft, both other parties would not have taken the actions they ultimately did. This essay will provide a brief description of events that took place from 1638 to 1651 and then utilize evidence from a multitude of sources to argue that the religious elites were the most influential of these forces during the witchcraft prosecutions that occurred in the 1640s. Sources also revealed that changing the Foxtel brand may have been considered for some time, but some executives, including new chief executive Patrick Delany believed it was somehow pointless to introduce rebranding if there aren t new product offerings to attract consumers. The rationale would be that rebranding serves no purpose without new services to justify the said name modification. Nevertheless, the supposed to be grounds behind the planned rebranding would be to give the company a literally fresh start in the form of a new name in order to eliminate the deep rooted consumer perception about Foxtel being old and costly. There is a spillway that takes water through the Trinity River to Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Worth. This year has been a rough year for Lake Bridgeport with three digit temperatures and draining water to the other lakes. Since one of the purposes to build Lake Bridgeport was for storage, The Tarrant County water district approved to let out 20,000 acre feet of water from Lake Bridgeport to prevent the other lakes to be low. But 2013 is anything but a normal year. Today, what once was a scenic lake is covered in chest high weeds. Boaters and fisherman enjoy going to Lake Bridgeport during the summer. But in the summer of 2013 the boat ramps were unusable so the number of residents going to the lake dropped. There are dead fish floating to the shoreline as well as many other wildlife animals. The lake tested positive for Zebra Mussel larva, which is shell like creatures that are very sharp and stick to boats, anchors and docks. The Mussels are very dangerous for the lake environment, but they also eat bacteria so they could help the lake water clear up. Problem: The Lake is the place to be on a hot summer day, but how is it supposed to be any fun when the lake is drying up each day.
