Writing A Narrative Essay Examples
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Writing A Narrative Essay Examples" can be a challenging
endeavor, as it requires a delicate balance of creativity, structure, and analytical skills. The
difficulty arises from the need to not only understand the intricacies of narrative essay writing
but also to exemplify those concepts through clear and engaging examples.
One of the challenges lies in capturing the essence of storytelling. A narrative essay should go
beyond a mere sequence of events; it should weave a compelling story that resonates with the
reader. This demands a keen understanding of narrative elements, such as plot development,
character building, and the art of incorporating descriptive details to evoke emotions.
Structuring the essay poses another hurdle. Balancing the chronological flow of events with
reflective insights can be intricate. Finding the right rhythm and pacing to maintain the reader's
interest while delivering a coherent narrative requires a thoughtful approach.
Additionally, the writer must possess the ability to transcend personal experiences and connect
with a broader audience. This involves selecting relatable examples and crafting a narrative that
resonates universally. Striking this balance ensures that the essay is not only a personal
expression but also a piece that others can connect with and derive meaning from.
Furthermore, providing instructive examples involves a meticulous selection process. Choosing
instances that vividly illustrate the key principles of narrative essay writing is crucial. This
demands a deep dive into one's own experiences, as well as the ability to discern which
moments will serve as effective illustrations for the targeted concepts.
In conclusion, composing an essay on "Writing A Narrative Essay Examples" is a demanding task
that requires a fusion of creative prowess and analytical acumen. It challenges the writer to
navigate the complexities of storytelling, structure, and relatability. However, with dedication
and a nuanced approach, one can surmount these challenges and produce a compelling piece that
not only educates but also captivates the reader.

Jack And Lord Of The Flies Essay
My Chinese Literature teacher told me, Everyone is special as they born in this
world, but people may have similar personalities and thoughts when they are in a
similar situation. This kind of saying is just like the environments affect the
similarities of human being. The novel, Lord of the Flies, author uses the innocent
children to develop the theme of the evil and savage inside the human, and in the
painting from Goya Francisco, Saturn Devouring His Son, expressed the inhumanity
of the people obtain the power by hurting kinsfolk. Nevertheless, the main characters
in the novel like Jack and Ralph have a variety of similarities with Saturn and his son,
Jupiter in the painting. Furthermore, the author and painter also have something in
common.
In the book, Jack was described as a boy who likes hunting. He represents the
characteristic of evil, it is correspond to the character, Saturn, who is eating his son
in the painting. In the Lord of the Flies, Jack is brutal, evil and ... Show more content

For Ralph, he was fighting single handedly after Jack made its own team. Ralph is
a positive character in Lord of the Flies, at first, he was the leader of all the boys
that went through the plane crash. Everyone listened to him but until Jack got his
first boar arrogantly, each boy were appealed by the deliciousness of the meat.
More boys joined in Jack s hunting team. Afterwards, Ralph s only 2 closest
friends, Piggy and Simon died. Remembering the scene of the big fire that made
by Jack, Ralph did not ever give up the chance of survival and surrender. He was
brave when he worked alone. Fortunately, Ralph got saved. A naval officer stood on
the sand, looking down at Ralph in wary astonishment. (Golding 253)The officer
was astonished by the appearance of Ralph that must be very dirty. Ralph was saved
by the adults which means he will back to a disciplined and peaceful
Monotheism In Ancient Civilizations
Monotheism in Ancient Civilizations
People of the ancient world worshiped an array of gods, but one of the most
important historical phenomenons purports the idea of a single God. The idea of this
single God can either serve to unite us in a common humanity, serve to initiate
discussion, or cause divisions when the attributes of this god are examined. Several
ancient religions have been greatly affected by the radical effects of monotheism.
Some early models of this belief include Atenism, Zoroastrianism, and Judaism which
evidences similarities in their makeup but also have distinct differences that
differentiate them from each other. One of the most obvious similarities among these
three religions is that they all share the central concept ... Show more content on

There were no other gods lurking in the shadows as well as there were no two
great forces present concurrently fighting against each other. This faith of the
Hebrews proclaimed that God alone who reigns supreme over everything that he
created. There were no earthly representation of Yahweh but it was believed that
his will and purpose is revealed by his words and his commandments. Judaism in
some sense declares war against all other gods and offered no compromises with
polytheism. Judaism sole object was the restitution of pure worship to Yahweh. It
proclaimed Yahweh as a spirit above all limitations of form, above all things,
independent of all conditions and without physical qualities (Jewish Encyclopedia
2011). Yahweh desired righteous conduct, a fear and reverence for him and
obedience to his law. However people were not mandated to follow him but had the
freedom of choice. Yahweh, this loving and kind god who was directly accessible to
everyone may have played a pivotal role in the success of this
Cause And Effects Of Hurricane Katrina
On August 29, 2005 the Gulf Coast was awakened by a malevolent storm named
Hurricane Katrina. It was a category three storm with winds up to 125 mph that
destroyed Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida all in under a week (E. Kolbert).
Hurricane Katrina was classified as one of the deadliest hurricanes in history
(University of R.I.). The damage of Katrina overall costed over about 100 billion,
being the costliest hurricanes in the United States(University of R.I.). Overall
Hurricane Katrinawas one of the worst storms to hit the Gulf Coast.
Hurricane Katrina formed 200 miles southeast of the Bahamas as a tropical
depression, then clouds began to wrap around the north side of the storm
(Zimmermann). The storm first hit Florida in the United States and ended in New
Orleans, Louisiana (University of R.I.). On August 25th Katrina s first landfall was
between the Miami, Hallandale beach and North Miami beach as a category one
hurricane with 80 mph winds (Fox News). Katrina, then weakened over land into a
tropical storm before moving over to the Gulf of Mexico and became a category two
hurricane with 100 mph toward Mississippi and Louisiana (Fox News). Still moving
towards the Gulf Coast the storm became a category three storm. Before entering
Mississippi and Louisiana there was an evacuation, making this the biggest
evacuation in the United States history, stated (Vainisi). Millions of people evacuated

Along the way, spending patterns will shift significantly as discretionary purchases
capture a majority of consumer spending. The study also suggest that if india can
achieve 7.3 percent annual growth a reasonable assumption if economic reforms
continue consumer spending will quadruple from about 17 trillion rupees($3.72

The Crucible and McCarthyism
In the blood heat of pursuing the enemy, many people are forgetting what we are
fighting for. We are fighting for our hard won liberty and freedom; for our
Constitution and the due processes of our laws; and for the right to differ in ideas,
religion and politics. I am convinced that in your zeal to fight against our enemies,
you, too, have forgotten what you are fighting for. (Julia Child, My Life in
France)
This is true! McCarthyism is one of many practices that came into existence and
caused turmoil among the American society. Just like any practice, McCarthyism did
have a mass impact on the lives of many people, but more specifically one literary by
the name of Arthur
Miller. McCarthyism affected him as a human being which in turn was reflected in
his writings. McCarthyism was named after Joseph
McCarthy, and it meant ruinous accusation without any basis in evidence. (Henry
Popkin 139). Miller had been a victim of McCarthyism and this is what made him
think of writing The Crucible. The Second
Red Scare was known as McCarthyism . The time that the Second Red
Scare took place was in World War I. Through The Crucible, Miller talked about the
American society of the seventeenth century. The
Crucible was a bold as well as a timely play, written at a time when the congressional
investigators had power to do considerable damage.
(Henry Popkin 140). It stressed the phenomenon about a series of radical trials that
took place during the period of McCarthyism. Thus

Kate Chopin And Mary E. Wilkins Freeman
Over the years American Literature has become an important part of the American
history. In the other hand, it is really important for people to study the significant of
the American literature, because in particular is associated with influence of the
American culture. People should know more about their culture, because it is the
place where they are living in. Literature was brought to the United States from the
European culture. The American literature started to develop during the antebellum
era in the late 19th century and the 20th century. At this period of time many writers
started to get well known in the American society. Good examples of two good
antebellum era writers are Kate Chopin, and Mary Eleanor Wilkins Freeman. These
two women made a big impact in the American history. Both of these women were
very important writers, and well known for their American romance fiction short
stories. Chopin s and Freeman s short stories were very interesting because they
talked about real day by day events. People liked their short stories, because
sometimes they identified their selves with the characters of the stories. Freeman
and Chopin wrote several short stories while they were alive. There are several
reasons why Kate Chopin and Mary E. Wilkins Freeman affected the American
literature and culture. The Antebellum era in the American history was best known
the period before the civil war and after the War of 1812. During the first half of the
19th century, the
What Is Iphigenia A Hero
The concept of heroism commonly lends itself to male leaders within literature. It is
often expected of characters such as kings to possess attributes such as bravery and
integrity. While a reader s first inclination may be to see the leaders with titleship as
potential protagonists, the lesser characters can exhibit kingly qualities despite their
lower status. When defining heroism, it is important to remember the angle of
selflessness and sacrifice involved. A herotakes control of a situation and their fate for
a cause that is bigger than themselves.
Iphigenia makes a later entrance in the play, but reveals herself to be the true face
of heroism. Others around her constantly waffle between differing points of view
and focus on self centered agendas. Menelaus, for example, is willing to go to war
to not only get his wife back, but more importantly, to avoid the personal shame of
wedding an unfaithful woman. His cause may seem noble on a surface level,
however he is just one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader initially feels nothing but pity and sadness for Iphigenia, as she is
being forced to die a young death for a questionable cause. But in her own words
she declares Is my life to be the only obstacle? Would that be fair? As she takes
control of her own fate, she exhibits pure courage in the face of a terrible event.
This selflessness isn t driven by any scheme, it is inherent and unadulterated.
Iphigenia desires to help her country and cannot justify her own life being spared
in opposition to an entire country and army. She is willing to give up, quite
literally, her entire being. Such a sacrifice cannot be found by any of the supposed
leaders in the play, who are willing to give up other people or things, but never
themselves (Achilles could be seen as an exception, however, in a sense, his
motivations are also intrinsically tied to defending his

in the Nineveh Province was in a disastrous state from the war and from all the
looting, that the local populous had engaged in. The 101st Airborne Division
(Screaming Eagles) was the premier division in charge of restoring the city. During
this time, the city was without electricity, water or a sanitation system. Mosul
leaders, teachers, and ministers were nowhere in sight. At this time, the economy was
completely diminished. Major General David Petraeuswas entrusted to restore any

and Petraeus to restore normalcy. General Petraeus demonstrated collective
Leadership in joining forces with local Generals in order to better their nation and to
put some onus on them. Next, he helped them establish a government utilizing the
concept of elections. Petraeus knew this was the route to take in order to empower
the people of Mosul and give them a voice in rebuilding their society. Election Day in

Australia Cultural Identity
Sport events like the Olympic games provide the opportunity for host countries to
show their identity to the rest of the world. This showing of identity is at the same
time a construction of selfidentity.
It is a construction in a sense that the host country has to convey its most important
ideas about itself to the world. In this limited period of time the host country has to
draw upon experiences, historical events, and values which represent the country and
the nation.1 In other words, it is a narration of the nation visible to the rest of the
world. The ceremony tells a story that is supposed to represent a unified nation. At
the same time, it is, as Jackie Hogan points out, an act
of inclusion and exclusion .2 Thus, the ceremony itself ... Show more content on

The ceremony pictures stereotypes of immigrants with associated dresses and
dances.10 Moreover, the presence of Aboriginal Australians is limited to the sequence
Awakening .
It almost seems that they are not seen as a part of modern Australia. According to
Hogan, ideas of
backward, exotic, and pre modern come to mind when compared to the developed and
working white Australian.11 Thus, dividing Australia and its history into white male
dominated, premodern
Aboriginal past, and a period of immigration rather emphasises boundaries than unity.
The ceremony seems to show contrast rather than togetherness. The attempt to create
a united nation consisting of many different people result in the marginalisation of
minorities and celebration of
the dominant culture .12
In sum, the opening ceremony of the Olympic games in Sydney attempts the portrayal
of a multicultural Australia, in harmony with its past, and welcoming of all cultures.
However, the main focus on the history of white Australians and the constant
presence of this white Australianness throughout the ceremony reflect existing power
relations and result in marginalisation of
Enslaving Nature of Love Exposed in Lucretius Essay
Enslaving Nature of Love Exposed in Lucretius
In Dryden s Lucretius, the speaker argues that (1) Love is a sickness, (2) Love s
sickness enslaves, and (3) all attempts to remedy Love s sickness are vain and will
only frustrate the lover. Just as Milton s Adam and Eve become enslaved to sin by
disobeying God, so mankind becomes enslaved to Love when pierced with Cupid s
winged arrow . In Milton, there is redemption and freedom through Christ, but in
Dryden, no salvation from love is possible. This poem leaves mankind in a
hopeless, frustrated state, unable to break free from love s yoke. This essay will
center on the last heroic couplet: All wayes they try, successeless all they prove,/To
cure the secret sore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem argues that love is not only a sickness, but also as a form of enslavement.
The couplet argues that All the wayes they try, successeless all they prove implies
that these lovers are trapped, and cannot satisfy love s demands. This enslavement
idea is further proved upon examining the method by which a person falls in love:
From whence he first was struck, he thither tends; Restless he roams, impatient to
be freed . The lover is described as impatient to be freed which implies that he is
not free, but instead a victim, struck by a Fiery dart , and now is cursed with an
endless appetite for love. The lover is a slave seeking satisfaction, but never finding
it: Hence thirst and hunger may be satisfi d,/But this repletion is to Love deny d .
Once a person is struck with Cupid s arrow, enslavement begins and Love with
fantomes cheats our longing eyes,/Which hourly seeing never satisfies . Love s
enslavement not only makes all attempts to break free fruitless, but also makes the
frustrates the lover.
In the enslaved state, the lovers tries to satisfy love s demands, eager to inject the
sprightly seed but All the wayes they try , the lovers fail. Even though this poem is
all about how love enslaves, the speaker ironically offers remedies. The speaker
argues
The Window In Peter Quint s The Turn Of The Screw
Windows in The Turn of the Screw are in two instances the invisible boundary
separating the governess from ghosts. The governess sees Peter Quint twice through
a window, once when she is inside and once outside of the house. Miles looks
through windows several times, intently focused on what the governess thinks
appears to be a ghost. A sighting of Peter Quint through a window is also a catalyst
for Miles s death.
It is no coincidence that these events happen at windows. The story is, at least in
part, about boundaries that like windows at once divide and connect people to each
other. Windows also allow a person to see the outside world but in a vacuum,
meaning that the person looking out is losing some sort of context to what is going

The governess remarks that He was the same he was the same, and seen, this time,
as he had been seen before, from the waist up, the window, though the dining room

was close to the glass, yet the effect of this better view was, strangely, only to show
me how intense the former had been. ... Something, however, happened this time
that had not happened before; his stare into my face, through the glass and across
the room, was as deep and hard as then, but it quitted me for a moment during
which I could still watch it, see it fix successively several other things (44). The
governess does not exhibit the same fear as she did when she first came upon Quint
outside but she is terrified because the mysterious man is closer to home but she has
no context to why he is there. The window cuts her off from the mysterious Quint
and makes her feel scared because no matter how much of a barrier a window is, one
is still able to see through it. And the transparency leaves the governess s emotions

one of the first rows of the section where blacks were not supposed to sit... The bus

Sleep Is The Most Important Phase Of Sleep
Sufficient sleep is a biological necessity for the normal functioning of humans, it
allows the body to rest and to replenish itself so that it is able to serve its function
of living. In addition, mental and physical health depend on the amount of sleep
we get. Most adults and students value work and college much more than sleep,
this is due to the academic, career, and materialistic demands. Researchers have
noted a positive correlation between lack of sleep and decreased physical health,
mental health, and academic performance. Sleep consists of two cycles: non rapid
eye movement (NREM) and rapid eye movement (REM), which are sleep patterns
that alternate throughout the night. Firstly, sleep begins with non REM sleep
lasting about 90 minutes followed by REM sleep lasting 10 30 minutes, then the
cycle repeats itself. REM sleep is the most important phase of sleep because the
body is internally awake, with waking like brain activity, yet asleep and externally
calm. Thus, an uninterrupted REM phase of sleep is necessary for integrating
previously learned material, and giving the individual a feeling of being well
rested and refreshed. Many individuals will put sleep off so that more work hours,
and school work can be fit into the day in order to get a better outcome such as job
promotions or better academic grades, but I believe that sleep deprived people show
a low performance in daily tasks due to suffering from mental, and physical health
disorders.

Literature Review On Measles
2. Literature Review
Measles disease: Epidemiology
Measles is a very infectious viral disease caused by the measles virus, and it is most
common in children. Its main features include maculopapular rash, fever (more than
400 C), cough, coryza, and conjunctivitis. The disease is highly contagious and
airborne, spreading through droplets of the secretions of the nose throat and mouth
of an infected person. It develops in more than 90 percent of susceptible 10 12 days
after exposure to a measles virus (Caserta, 2014)). The World Health Organization
specifies that measles should be diagnosed in the Laboratories with the presence of
IgM antibodies specific for measles in the serum of a suspected case (WHO, 2016).

Onyiriuka (2011) in a study, reported that cases of the disease are responsible for 3.1
percent of the inpatients in the in the Pediatric Department and that 47.8 percent are
between the ages 13 to 24 months, 18.1 percent being under the age of 9 months. The
report went further to state that 77.9 percent of the cases did not receive measles
vaccine as against 22.9 that had the vaccinations. More cases were reported in the dry
season than in the wet season. The author observed the two leading complications as
a result of measles infection were bronchopneumonia (55.1%) and diarrhea with
dehydration (13.0%). A study by Etuk, et al. (2003) also corroborated the increasing
number of measles cases in tertiary health facilities. An infection of measles confers
lifetime immunity in an individual. Immunity against measles can also be acquired
through immunization with measles vaccine. According to World Health
Organization (2012), interrupting transmission of the disease requires achieving
population immunity of at least 95% with measles
Wind Energy and Turbines
Introduction In today s world, there are many different sources of energy that can
be used to generate electricity. When you think of the word energy, what comes to
mind? For me, I think of having the ability to do wok, whether it is moving an
object from one place to another, compressing a gas, producing heat, sound, or light,
and having the ability to power something. One very important source of energy that
has become very popular in todays world for a means of power generation is wind
energy, wind power, or also known as a wind turbine.
What is Wind Energy? Wind is air in motion, and is caused by the uneven heating
of the Earth s surface by the sun ( Wind ). Because of this, wind energy has less
impact on the environment then other energy sources. Therefore, wind can produce
electricity through a turbine or windmill. A wind turbine is a device that converts
kinetic energy from the wind into electrical power. ( Wind Turbine ) In order for a
wind turbine to work there are many properties that must be present such as: wind,
wind speed, location with the right wind, as well as other characteristics that come to
play such as short and long term fluctuations and the distribution of wind direction.
History of Wind Energy Now that you know what wind energy is, it is time to look
at where did the term wind energy originate from. To start, wind energy has been
around as early as 200 BC, and was used to ground grain or pump water. One of the
first uses of wind energy was by

Mastery Synthesis
I look at my computer just as it ticks to 10 o clock, I hear my Mom calling to get to
bed, but I can t. Just a few more minutes turns into just a few more hours but I must
keep working. Gabby has me captivated, learning new things about her every

front of me the whole time. Print, print, print, I chant in my head. Then it comes,
ready for turn in. When I receive it, it s like a song and the E shouts at me. I praise
myself, my hard work has paid off.
My central idea for this synthesis is how hard I ve worked for each piece to make

pieces I ve mastered this year. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this piece our job was to create a short story about history and wherever we want.
We had to have 3 characters with a strong storyline. I show Mastery in this piece
because was strong and and I felt confident when I was writing it making a my story
very strong.
Art this year showed Mastery for me because I mastered the skill of creating a
realistic sculpture. For this project in art we were supposed to create a realistic Greek
sculpture of a god or goddess in the Greek time period. We first use a base of thick
wire to create that out line of the body, then we use tin foil to create the inside of the
body and finally we put hardening clay for the skin is an added detail.
So as you can see I have mastered many skills this year through contents, there are
still many things that can be improved to Mastery but I plan to work on that for
next year and many other years to come period I hope to master all of my projects
that are not mastered so that I feel confident and on top of all of the work I have

Erikson s Psychosocial Development Theory Essay
In this research project several individuals, both parents and children were
surveyed and asked various questions to see what their views on morals and values
were and if teaching them had an impactful effect on children. With the secondary
research conducted the teachings of morals and values will be linked to
socialization as well as being looked at through different developmental theories.
Many pages in the Individuals and Families, Diverse Perspectives (Holloway,
Holloway Witte, 2010) will be used to help relate the primary research to the
secondary research of this project. The ways of socializing children will be
mentioned as well as the concept of teaching morals and values to children and how it
can be explained through different developmental theories.
Teaching morals and values to children can be explained through many
developmental perspectives but can better be explained through Erik Erikson s
Psychosocial Development theory as well as Symbolic Interactionism. Erikson s
Psychosocial Development theory looks at, predictable stages of human
development from childhood to adulthood, (Holloway et al., 2010, p.101).
Psychosocial Development assumes that, There is a depicted series of eight stages
in which an individual s identity emerges and matures (Holloway et al., 2010,
p.100). Whereas Symbolic Interactionism explains, How individuals behave based on
their perceptions of themselves and others, (Holloway et al., 2010, p.39). It also
describes that,
How Did Jack London Write The Story Of An Eyewitness
Those who survived the San Francisco earthquake said Thank God, I m still alive.
But, of course, those who died, their lives will never be the same again. This quote
shows how harshly this earthquake affected the residents of San Francisco. In Jack
London s essay The Story of an Eyewitness, London uses imagery, metaphors, and
personification to make the reader feel as though they are actually there. London uses
imagery in his essays to make the reader feel as though they are experiencing the
1906 earthquakethemselves. For example, he says The streets were humped into
ridges and depressions, and piled with the debris of fallen walls. The steel rails were
twisted into perpendicular and horizontal angles. The telephone and telegraph
The Responsibility Of Death In Grimm s Godfather Death
The fable of Godfather Death poses several topics worth discussing. I was particularly
intrigued with how it portrays the human compulsion to tempt fate. In this particular
example, the protagonist of the story is placed under the care of Death, a being
thought to be omnipotent and clearly not someone to mess around with. As a
christening gift, Deathawards the protagonist an herb that will help any patient of
his recover. Death also gave him conditions in which he was permitted to use the
herb s power. If I stand next to the sick person s head, you may speak boldly that
you will make him healthy again. But if you see me standing by the sick person s
feet then he is mine (Grimm 13). He continued to warn the protagonist of what would
happen if he abused the herb s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But beware of using the herb against my will, or it will turn out badly for you
(Grimm 13). With this warning in mind, the doctor proceeds to act against Death s
wishes and give the herb to the sick king, even though Death had stood by the king
s feet. The protagonist assumed that he would be forgiven due to the fact that he
was Death s godson. The protagonist got lucky, Death spared his life, but also
warned him never to deceive him again. I would like to think that the doctor took
this warning to heart, but alas, as soon as a beautiful girl came into the picture,
Death s warning was the farthest thing from his mind. Once again the doctor
cheated Death and chose to save the girl s life in the hope that they would get
married and he would inherit the crown. Death was not so forgiving this time. Death
made a mockery of the man s life in the way that he ended it. A story like this makes
you wonder, why would anyone choose to try their own life like this? To the
protagonist, greed must have seemed an even bigger motivation than the

Tax deductions reduce taxable income; their value thus depends on the taxpayer s

Exercise for the Body You know exercise is good for you but do you know how
good? At its most basic, exercise is any type of physical exertion we perform in an
effort to improve our health, shape our bodies, and boost performance (Waehner,
Web). Adults, men and women, and teens both benefit from exerciseand physical
activity in many different ways. Exercise should play a key role in everyone s daily
life, not only does it boost self esteem, it also improves mental health and helps
prevent depression, heart disease, cardiovascular disease, Type II Diabetes, and, as
always, obesity. Most people agree that even though they may not look forward to
doing a workout, they tend to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, high levels of stress have been linked to weight gain. Whether it s
hitting the gym, swimming a couple laps in your pool, or even taking a brisk walk
around your neighborhood, exercise improves mental health and helps prevent
depression and anxiety. Exercise is a distraction that can get you away from the
cycle of negative thoughts that feed anxiety and depression. When one is active,
blood and oxygen flow to the brain are increased, growth factors that help create
new nerve cells increase to promote plasticity, and chemicals in the brain increase
that help cognition, such as, dopamine, serotonin, and glutamate (Physical
Exercise, Web). As exercise is increased, energy levels and serotonin are increased,
which leads to improved mental clarity (Sarnataro, Web). Studies show that
exercise boosts activity in the brains frontal lobes and the hippocampus. Doing
something positive to manage anxiety or depression is a healthy coping strategy.
Trying to feel better by drinking alcohol, dwelling on how badly you feel, or
hoping anxiety or depression will go away on their own can lead to worsening
symptoms. Self esteem is defined as the experience of being capable of meeting life
s challenges and being worthy of happiness (Fresh, Web). Developing healthy self
esteem is a critical component of program aimed at self improvement. In those who

The intention of this project is to demonstrate the function of production planning in
a non artificial environment. Through this simulation we are able to forecast, with a
degree of certainty the monthly requirements for end products, subassemblies, parts

Next we calculate the labor that goes into transforming these parts into a viable end
product. We get a total of six hours of running man hours/unit and an hourly labor
rate of $8.50, which gives us a total of fifty one dollars. This gives a minimal total
cost of
$101 to produce product one. This number is useful in determining how much a unit
actually cost to manufacture and what we must minimally sell the product for to
make a profit. We can than analyze if a product costs to much to make or the sum of
the parts is more than the price of the end product. Product eight had the lowest direct
minimum cost ($89.50) and four had the highest minimal direct cost. From a purely
economic stand point, it would be beneficial to use as much of raw material twenty
three ($5 unit) and as little of raw material twenty two ($30 unit). This does not
consider that raw material twenty two may actually be more valuable than raw
material twenty three. Perhaps raw material twenty two may be gold or silver and
raw material twenty three may be sand or glass. I also converted all information in
the sales history per month (figure four of the MANMAN packet). The purpose of
this step was so that I could sort and add the sales numbers to chronicle the past
twenty four months. Clearly product one was the best selling apparatus, and product
three, four and five where sales laggards. Entering the information into spreadsheet

Comparing Brutus And Mark Antony
Brutus and Mark Antony both delivered speeches after the death of Julius Caesar,
trying to sway the minds of the Romans toward their views. The monologues reveal
the speaker s traits. The speeches were contrasting in style but similar in their
attempts to win the Romans support.
First, considering the way Brutus and Mark Antony began their speech, shows the
difference between their attempts. Brutus started off Romans, countrymen, and
lovers! He said Romans first because that was how he was addressing them, as
Romans. He did what he did for Rome, and he wanted the people to know. He cared
for the Romans as a people, more than he cared for Julius Caesar. Friends, Romans,
countrymen. That is how Mark Antony started his speech. He used an emotional
appeal. He asked of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brutus used the poetic form prose, which he used for rational speaking. Brutus
was a very stoic man, which means he valued reason above emotion. Brutus loved
Caesar and Caesar loved Brutus, they had a high opinion of one another. But as he
was ambitious, I slew him. Brutus killed him because he was trying to stop
Caesars ambition. Brutus knew that not everyone was going to agree with him so
he used Mob Mentality. He killed Caesar for Rome and he wanted the Romans to
realize that. On the other hand, Mark Antony used blank verse as his poetic form. It
is a more emotional form of speaking, which is for passionate speeches. And he
keeps repeating the same phrase, Yet Brutus he was ambitious, And Brutus is an
honorable man. The point Mark Antony was trying to prove while saying that was,
while Brutus is an honorable man, he has committed murder. Even though Mark
Antony knew he had a good point to his case, he still had to be careful. He didn t
want to put down Brutus in any way because at that point the crowd already sided
with Brutus. So he needed to make his point while still supporting

worked in the monkey section. He feed them twice a day and made sure that they
were healthy. One day one of the monkeys, BoBo, seemed ill. Craig gave BoBo a

that they were all ok at the zoo.
After a few weeks, Craig noticed BoBo started to smell a lot more and was

bananatitous were, sleeping a lot, odor, and not eating enough.
BoBo had passed it onto a bird in the vet area before the bird went back to his cage.

Domestic Violence Throughout History
Domestic Violence Throughout History
Summary:
Domestic violence has been apart of society forever, and it rooted in traditional
male dominance and the view of women as property. Still, domestic violence is still
a problem that takes place regardless of the socio economic status of a family.
Domestic violence is as old as recorded history. There have been reports of domestic
violence since the dawn of time, in every country. Throughout history domestic
violence has been legal and socially acceptable, until recently. Two major elements
have sealed the status of woman for more than six thousand years. Those elements are

meant addressing the concerns that the women had.
This opened a whole new world for women. Women trapped in abusive relationships,

related concerns were opened all over the country. Although this was a good thing, by
separating it from other court matters, people considered it a domestic dispute rather

Conor is even comparable to the main protagonistfrom Artemis Fowl, a more famous

is credited for making a kite that glided him and Princess Isabella to safety from the

Conor changes a lot through the course of the first quarter of Airman. He goes from a
small baby to an intelligent young man. Artemis also changes throughout the series.
In the beginning, Artemis is more centered on his criminal schemes, but by the last
book, The Last Guardian, Fowl realizes that his family and friends are a lot more
important.
Discuss the plot with a focus on current events in the media. The plot in the book,
Airman, can be compared to the recent election that happened in America. In my
opinion, Hugo Bonvilain, the antagonist of the story, is a lot like Donald Trump in
many ways. One of Trump s slogans had to do with making America great again .
Hugo Bonvilain, also wanted to make the Saltee Islands like they used to be. Both of

Some of the photos from the project have been exhibited at Tacoma Art Museum as
well as some documented dialogues with the volunteers (Blalock p 85). The pictures
are meant to show the richness in culture and diversity of the Native Americans that
Americans have not seen. In the project, every subject is asked questions about
their family as well as future and this brings in the issue of identity. Many people in
the photos wear their traditional clothes and also take photos in places that have
some connection to their history or origin. This shows cultural identity. Taking part
in this project gave Native Americans the opportunity to showcase what it means to
be a Native American. In the wake of loss of identity through assimilation, this
project aims at making the idea of identity to move from generation to generation
and preserve identity of Native Americans for future generations. Project 562 has
been very effective in updating the Americans views on the Native Americans (Smith
p 221). This project is also helping people who have dual cultural identities realize
who they are enabling people to retain their cultural identity while embracing
modernity. Matika Wilbur came up with her project in order to change the
stereotypes that have been projected by the media about Native Americans and show
the beauty in the lives of these people while helping to change the public opinion
about such people.
Order and Chaos
Order and chaos are related to and dependent on each other. The clear cut
distinction between them is man made and an illusion. Society uses order to
regulate all aspects of the world from nature to personal lives, while chaos allows
for open mindedness and also provides an explanation for certain aspects of the
world. This can be seen in science, theology, music, language, and imaginative play.
Science is rational, logical, and orderly. It has the ability to break apart complex
systems into simpler ones described by theories ad equations. This is seen in the
description of the planets orbits, evolution, and Newton s laws. Scientists have a
thirst for knowledge and seek understanding about the world around them. Their

Anthropology, fossils, and other material evidence provide proof of evolution by
similarities between organisms of the past and present ,including the controversial
belief that humans evolved from apes. All these discoveries discredit the belief that
humans were created to posses dominion over the world, and all that was created
has existed from the beginning. The five percent of fundamentalists that are radical
and use violence and other unusual means to support their views have made
fundamentalism seem extreme and crazy. They discriminate against other
Christians, who do not have their same views, and deem them not real Christians.
They are also completely intolerant of other religions, offering no salvation outside
their faith. Throughout the ages these two groups have clashed as seen in the trial
of Galileo. The common denominator in Galileo s trial ,and other controversies
between the ideologies is each group s stubbornness and intolerance of other views.
One view can not exist without the other ,and they are both impractical and
incomplete. The joining of the two is essential for a human being and the world as a
whole. This point is clearly illustrated in the Library of Babel where all was known
,yet chaos was rampant because no faith could exist.
Music can sometimes sound random, chaotic, and spontaneous but all music has a

Hesiod Versus Ovid
Philosophy versus Cosmology A Comparison of Creation in Hesiod s Theogony
and Ovid s Metamorphoses By Catherine Franklin To fully understand the poems;
Metamorphoses and Theogony, one needs to understand more about the writers.
Hesiod was a greek poet, who lived around 700BC, and was inspired by muses to
write epic poetry. Theogony is considered one of earliest works and concerns itself
with the cosmogony, or the origins of the world and theogony, or the gods, and
pays specific detail to genealogy (West, 1996: 521). Ovid, on the other hand, was a
Roman poet, born in 43 BC the year after the assassination of Julius Caesar and lived
during Augustus s reign. It s said that his father took him to Rome to become

In Ovid s Metamorphoses, there is also an initial state of chaos, which is the name
that men give the complete mess that was the Universe, already hinting that men
are a prominent feature in Ovid s work, especially as he mentions them before the
Gods. An unnamed God, given the name of The Creator, then appears, and starts to
place everything in order. He lets Fire, the lightest element shoot up to its natural
place at the furthest reaches of the Universe, and lets Air, a slightly heavier
element settle below Fire. Below that he placest all the heavier elements, such as
rocks and dirt, which collect at the centre of the universe, and form Earth, therefore
making Earth the centre of the Universe. He then lets water flow all over it, makes
mountains and fields, organises the different regions of earth and sky, and sends
different winds to where they belong. Once everything was no longer in chaos, the
stars came out, and The Creator then made animals to inhabit the world. Lastly, man
was made, but it is unsure whether it was The Creator who made the men, or
Prometheus, the son of Iapetus, who moulded men in the shape of the Gods (Ovid,
1922: 5 89.) To begin the comparison of the two myths, one must look at both the
similarities and the differences. To write the myth both poets need help from the
Gods, however, the Gods just appear to Hesiod, thus making the Gods in control and
the Gods are asked to help by Ovid, thus putting

In this case, the employees consented to generalized medical examination and not
to the detailed blood tests. Employers do maintain certain rights to invade to
privacy of their employees. Safety is a prime example. In the interest of safety, it
is the employer s deontological responsibility to provide a safe workplace. Alcohol
and drug use on the job would create hazards in the workplace. Testing employees
for drugs is not only written in the contract, but also is in the best interest of all
parties involved, including fellow employees. However, it is the employer s
responsibility to use the least obtrusive method to obtain their desired results and
must also protect the worker s best interest. During the course of their testing,
Burlington Northern did not disclose the additional tests to their workers and
therefore, broke this rule. Their determination to keep the results secret broke the
simply rules of a employee contract by not protecting the interest of their employee.
Previous established research indicated that the test they were performing was not

only assume that this data was to be used in determining the medical benefits payouts

The Positive And Negative Effects Of Gentrification
Gentrification is a planned or unplanned process where wealthy individuals displace
poor individuals from their areas of living by purchasing the property and later
upgrading it through modernization and renovation (Brown Saracino, 2013). Ruth
Glass coined the term Gentrification in her book London: Aspects of Change in
reference to the influx of wealthy individuals to poorly inhabited areas in central
London in 1964 (Brown Saracino, 2013). These rich individuals were referred to as
gentryhence the term gentrification.
Gentrification has been a controversial issue both in urban planning and politics
primarily due to the displacement of poor people by the rich folks (Shaw
Hagemans, 2015). Many individuals have viewed gentrification as an illegal act that
should be avoided at all costs. On the other hand, another group of people believe

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Research Paper
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was born in Vyatka, a town in Russia s Ural mountains,
on May 7th, 1840. He started taking piano lessons at age 5, although he had no
history of composers in his family, he had a very early start with music. When he
was 8 years old, his family moved to St. Petersburg, Russia. Even though he was
considered a good musician as a kid, it wasn t considered an acceptable occupation.
His parents ended up making him study law. While he was in law school, he studied
musicin his free time. After deciding that law wasn t for him, he became one of the
Russian Musical Society s first students, when he was 21 years old. Soon after, he
enrolled in St. Petersburg conservatory and gave private lessons to students. He

He ended up writing a waltz in memory of his loss. After that, he started
communicating with Nadezhda von Meck who was a rich woman who had lost
her husband. She would send Tchaikovsky money in her letters so he could focus
more on composing, even though he wasn t making a regular income through the
job. After 14 years and hundreds of letters, Nadezhda was no longer able to support
him, so the friendship ended. As for romantic relationships, there is some
controversy. Many people say that Tchaikovsky was gay, as he wrote many letters
where he mentioned his sexuality and the difficulty dealing with it in the society of
that time period. Even though Tchaikovsky was gay, he ended up marrying a
woman, Antonina Miliukova, in hope that he would be accepted by society. Before
they even got married, he told her that he was not even attracted to her, he just
wanted to have a friendship. Not surprisingly, the relationship ended tragically after a
few months. He continued writing music and in 1876 his first ballet, Swan Lake,
premiered and it was not a huge hit, as the dancers were not that

Eva Quote De Peron
Eva Duarte Peron (Evita) Thesis: Her experience as a member of the lower class
who overcame poverty and her belief in bringing justice to the poor made
everything that she did for the people of Argentina possible. Eva Peron Mi vida
por Peron! ( My life for Peron! ) [Evita] cried a thousand times before the roaring
crowds, and then she died. There are parallels that could be drawn between her life
and the lives of other obsessively ambitious women who have forced their way
through poverty and fame.but instead popular memory finds parallels between Evita
s life and the lives of the saints, because she did it all for someone else.

She also continued her work in the Secretariat for no salary. Her only earnings
were the love and affection from Peron and the Argentine people (Peron 125). On
June 19, 1948, Evita founded the Maria Eva Duarte de Peron Foundation, or EPF.
This foundation was created to provide national safety where the government was
weak (To Be II). The Foundation s work was necessary in the lower class areas of
the country, rather than in the cities. Eva believed that the descamisados were the
base, the foundation, of the revolution. They were an essential part of the country s
people (Peron 80). The Social Help Crusade created housing and neighborhoods
that were affordable for the poor. The crusade also created jobs for the
unemployed and school food programs. It provided inexpensive hospital supplies
and free medication. Workers unions donated many of these materials. Evita began
The Eva Peron Hospital Train, which provided free check ups, vaccinations, x rays,
and general medical care to people who either did not have access to hospitals or
who could not afford a visit to the doctor (To Be II). Twelve hospitals and two
policlinicos (hospitals for the railroad workers) were built with the same objective as
the Hospital Train. These hospitals attracted the best doctor in the country, and the

Feminist View On Feminism
Feminist theory is an important aspect in looking at different phenomena outside of
the male lens. It both relevant and crucial in sociology and other disciplines as well.
I identify as a feminist, specifically a liberal feminist. This is mainstream feminism,
with the belief in intrinsic equality of the sexes. Betty Friedan best explains, the
problem that has no name . The genderrelations, the issues that we face, and sexism
doesn t really have a name. I try to understand issues from both the lens of a male
and a female, which is why I particularly have problems with certain theories in
criminology. For example, in Hirshi s social control theory, he focuses on the
conformity of law abiding people, and because women appear to be more
conformist than men, it would make sense to treat women as central to his analysis.
However, he mostly ignored women in his theorizing and his sample was largely
male. I have never heard of Charlotte Perkins Gilman, which I am unimpressed with
because it shows the large ratio of the celebration of women writers in sociologyto
male sociologists. In the section The Dependence of Women from Women and
Economics (1898), Gilman explains that the partnership of a husband and wife is a
not a business partnership. Women seem to earn all they get, and more, by house
service (Gilman, 1898, p. 151). Women s labor in the home allows men to produce
their wealth outside the home. However, a woman s labour in the home is a
functional duty, not
Single Men In Pride And Prejudice Essay
It is not a coincidence that the very first sentence in Jane Austen s Pride and
Prejudice forecasts one of the most predominant themes in the novel and in
Elizabethan literature. Only a male can inherit his family s property and fortune, and
so it behooves a woman, especially one used to a high standard of living, to pursue
marriagewith a wealthy man. It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single
man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife (Austen 1). The
sentence provides an overview for the book as well, which concerns itself with the
pursuit of single men in possession of a good fortune . This motif of Elizabethan
marriages continues through the rest of the first passage when Mrs. Bennet
announces the arrival of Mr. Bingly at Netherfield. She enlightens her daughters
about Mr. Bingly saying, He is a single man of large fortunes four or five thousand a
year (Austen 2). Austen skillfully... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Darcy, as well as other characters, possess this fault. Darcy experiences a rude
awakening when he makes his first marriage proposal to Elizabeth. He is
supremely confident that Elizabeth will quickly accept. In this passage, Darcy
starts his transformation into becoming an improved man as a result of Elizabeth
who drains all of his pride by saying: You are mistaken, Mr. Darcy, if you suppose
that the mode of your declaration affected me in any other way, than as it spared me
the concern which I might have felt in refusing you, had you behaved in a more
gentlemanlike manner (Austen 186). By attacking his pride, Elizabeth critiques
Darcy on his conduct rather than his highborn standing. This leads Darcy into a
mixture of distress and self contemplation. He begins to reevaluate himself and starts
his progress towards a new improved model of his former self, which leads to him
winning Elizabeth s heart in Volume
Speech In Of Mice And Men
Rationale:
Of Mice and Men is a novel published in 1937 written by author John Steinbeck. It
is a book I have studied in my English B Literature Lesson, with the chosen theme
for this speech to be Dream, Hopes and Plans . In this speech, I would be playing
the role George and the aim of this task is to persuade adolescents to have a dream
in their life. George in this book is a very smart and physically strong person. He is
also a very thoughtful and rational person as whatever he does has his own reasons
and objectives. The speech is written in a formal tone and is targeted at the
adolescents.
In the speech, I would be using George s own personal experiences to be a guide for
my target audiences to follow and to draw their attention based ... Show more content

A dream would give us a sense of direction. A dream would lighten up your future.
Leo Tolstoy has once said, Ideal is the beacon. Without ideal, there is no secure
direction; without direction, there is no life. A dream would motivate you to strive
your best. My dream and objective were clear in my mind when I was working in the
ranch. My dream was my guiding light that guided me through obstacles and brought
me to success.
Why do we need a dream? A dream would make ourselves to become more
independent. When we have a goal, we would not get influenced by the external
environment. We would only work on tasks that would help us achieve our dreams.
When I got married, I had different working experiences in various ranches. But no
matter where I work, I have only thought of owning a farm. Therefore, I have been
toiling away in the ranch and have finally earned the first barrels for opening a farm.
Why do we need a dream? A dream would provoke you with ambition. It would
enlighten you to bring in more goals to enrich your life. A dream would motivate
you to live in a better life. Thomas A Edison has once said, We shall have no better
conditions in the future if we are satisfied with all those which we have at present.
Dream is all about virtual precognition. With dreams, we would be able to shape our
future. During the Great Depression, many people got unemployed. Therefore, I had
the American Dream, a dream of owning a farm. In which now it has been attained,
and my living standard was
The Populist and Progressive Movements Essay
The Populist and Progressive Movements
The Populists and Progressive were form of movement that occurred during the
outbreaks of the workers union after the civil war. The populists began during the late
1800s.The progressive began during the 1900s. There are many differences between
these two movements, but yet these movements have many things that are similar.
Farmers united to protect their interests, even creating a major political party. The
party was called the peoples party which became known as the populist party.
Populists drew its strength from rural areas. Populists tended to be poor and
uneducated. They had ideas such as government ownership of major industries. The

The attempt to unite urban workers and farmers into a mass movement for economic
reform had failed. Progressivism began in the early 1900s. It had roots in several
earlier movements such as the Liberal Republican and the Mugwumps. Progressivism
centered in cities. Progressives were middle class and well educated. Progressives
stayed in the political mainstream. They aimed not to remake American society, but
to merely make the existing system work better and to do this they were willing to
make compromises. Progressivism offered the middle class, business leader, and
farmers a safe reform. By 1900 the American economy was strong. As a result
people of all classes felt more confident and more willing to compromise.
Progressives made city and state governments more democratic. They also tightened
regulations on business. For Progressives, honest and efficient government was an
important goal, but not the ultimate one. They saw government as a tool to be used
to promote the welfare of all citizens. Regulating business was, for both city and state
governments, a major part of that task. Progressives passed more laws aiming at
protecting various groups, especially children. The Populist and Progressives had
many similarities. What the Populist fought for the Progressives continued on
fighting. They fought for many similar things for example, they fought for the eight
hour work day. The Populist and Progressives were for the people. They wanted to
improve their
Character Analysis Of Joichiro Nagase
The clock ticked on. Ever continuing, never stopping. In a three dimensional world,
three dimensional beings such as Joichiro Nagase were able to traverse through all
the three dimensions. Length, width, and height. He was, however, not a four
dimensional being. He couldn t traverse time as he pleased, and therefore he was
locked into the present, ever inching its way towards the future, never revisiting the
past.
Joichiro Nagase was, as some might assume, an enigmatic character. He was, for all
intents and purposes, an otaku, but his character traits didn t end there. He was fairly
high in his class and had good enough grades on all fronts. This didn t take away
from the fact that he harbored intense asocial tendencies that did much ... Show more

He wasn t sure what he did to warrant her friendship, but he chalked it down to her
simply being a kind person, despite the rarity of such a trait in today s society.
On the back sat the four resident delinquents. Their leader, Eiichiro Iida, had
frosted tips, shaved sides and wore shades indoors. His physique was imposing
enough, which would serve to deter anyone from seeking trouble from him. To the
front row, in the middle sat Kano Asamiya. A guy with a strong sense of justice . In
Joichiro s opinion, that was really just a crock of shit. He tended to get riled up
quickly when one of the delinquents would harass any of the girls present in this
class and would get himself beat up deliberately just to show how much of a martyr
he was.
The resident bullying victim sat right behind Joichiro. Takeru Murayama was a
complete Otaku, down to his bowl cut, awkward glasses and fat physique. Not to
mention, the kid s spineless. Whenever that kid got bullied, Kano with his strong
sense of justice, was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps it was because Takeru had no
boobs? Actually, he does. With that kind of BMI, his boobs even rivalled girls in
lower classes. Takeru had no vagina, despite how much his attitude suggested so.
Kano had no interest in defending him, leaving him to be the first guy to hit the wall
when Eiichiro had one of his tantrums.
That was the class of 3 A. It was filled with, as Joichiro migh have it, human beings.
Flawed human beings
Main Factors of Product Pricing in the Uk
Discuss the main factors affecting product pricing in the UK?
The Oxford English dictionary defines price as a value that will purchase a
definite quantity, weight, or other measure of a good or service . Simply put, the
price of an object represents the overall demand for that product at a specific time.
However, every firm had a different ideology about price and they way they set price.
One of these main factors that affect price is the actual objective of the firm.
Traditional theory suggests that firms will charge a profit maximizing price where
price is determined when marginal cost equals marginal revenue.
They operate to seek a maximum return on the investment and costs they have input.
The diagram below shows how firms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However most firms in the UK do not operate in these kinds of structures. An
oligopoly is a more realistic market structure that most UK firms operate in. It is a
market structure that is dominated by two or more firms that sell a range of similar
branded products who are price makers.
Due to the high concentration ratios (function of number of firms and respective
shares of total production (Anon. Oligopolies. Available: http:/
/www.economicshelp.org/dictionary/c/concentration ratios.html. Last accessed 6th
Nov )) and the fact that oligopolistic firms share market power, pricing theory is
heavily based on interdependence between firms. Firms are likely to collaborate
on pricing decisions so as to earn monopoly profits and deter new entrants from
ruining the fun . Formal collusion are referred to as cartels e.g. OPEC. They decide
what price to set and what quantity to produce so as each member receives the
maximum gains. However, there are cases where members cheat and undercut the
price, maximizing their revenue e.g. Iran and Nigeria in the early 1980 s cut oil
prices to earn more market share. (Sloman, Wride (2009). Economics. 7th ed.
London: Pearson. p58.)
In tacit collusion (informal collusion), the dominant firm or the firm with the most
market power usually sets the collaborated price e.g. Brooke Bond was the market
leader in the late 1960 s in the tea market, and all other firms matched its price.
(Sloman, Wride

At this period of time many writers started to get well known in the American society. Good examples of two good antebellum era writers are Kate Chopin, and Mary Eleanor Wilkins Freeman. These two women made a big impact in the American history. Both of these women were very important writers, and well known for their American romance fiction short stories. Chopin s and Freeman s short stories were very interesting because they talked about real day by day events. People liked their short stories, because sometimes they identified their selves with the characters of the stories. Freeman and Chopin wrote several short stories while they were alive. There are several reasons why Kate Chopin and Mary E. Wilkins Freeman affected the American literature and culture. The Antebellum era in the American history was best known the period before the civil war and after the War of 1812. During the first half of the 19th century, the
  • 9. What Is Iphigenia A Hero The concept of heroism commonly lends itself to male leaders within literature. It is often expected of characters such as kings to possess attributes such as bravery and integrity. While a reader s first inclination may be to see the leaders with titleship as potential protagonists, the lesser characters can exhibit kingly qualities despite their lower status. When defining heroism, it is important to remember the angle of selflessness and sacrifice involved. A herotakes control of a situation and their fate for a cause that is bigger than themselves. Iphigenia makes a later entrance in the play, but reveals herself to be the true face of heroism. Others around her constantly waffle between differing points of view and focus on self centered agendas. Menelaus, for example, is willing to go to war to not only get his wife back, but more importantly, to avoid the personal shame of wedding an unfaithful woman. But in her own words she declares Is my life to be the only obstacle? Would that be fair? As she takes control of her own fate, she exhibits pure courage in the face of a terrible event. This selflessness isn t driven by any scheme, it is inherent and unadulterated. Iphigenia desires to help her country and cannot justify her own life being spared in opposition to an entire country and army. She is willing to give up, quite literally, her entire being. Such a sacrifice cannot be found by any of the supposed leaders in the play, who are willing to give up other people or things, but never themselves (Achilles could be seen as an exception, however, in a sense, his motivations are also intrinsically tied to defending his

This showing of identity is at the same time a construction of selfidentity. It is a construction in a sense that the host country has to convey its most important ideas about itself to the world. In this limited period of time the host country has to draw upon experiences, historical events, and values which represent the country and the nation.1 In other words, it is a narration of the nation visible to the rest of the world. Just as Milton s Adam and Eve become enslaved to sin by disobeying God, so mankind becomes enslaved to Love when pierced with Cupid s winged arrow . In Milton, there is redemption and freedom through Christ, but in Dryden, no salvation from love is possible. The poem argues that love is not only a sickness, but also as a form of enslavement. The couplet argues that All the wayes they try, successeless all they prove implies that these lovers are trapped, and cannot satisfy love s demands. This enslavement idea is further proved upon examining the method by which a person falls in love: From whence he first was struck, he thither tends; Restless he roams, impatient to be freed . The lover is described as impatient to be freed which implies that he is not free, but instead a victim, struck by a Fiery dart , and now is cursed with an endless appetite for love. The lover is a slave seeking satisfaction, but never finding it: Hence thirst and hunger may be satisfi d,/But this repletion is to Love deny d . Sleep Is The Most Important Phase Of Sleep Sufficient sleep is a biological necessity for the normal functioning of humans, it allows the body to rest and to replenish itself so that it is able to serve its function of living. In addition, mental and physical health depend on the amount of sleep we get. Most adults and students value work and college much more than sleep, this is due to the academic, career, and materialistic demands. Researchers have noted a positive correlation between lack of sleep and decreased physical health, mental health, and academic performance. Sleep consists of two cycles: non rapid eye movement (NREM) and rapid eye movement (REM), which are sleep patterns that alternate throughout the night. Firstly, sleep begins with non REM sleep lasting about 90 minutes followed by REM sleep lasting 10 30 minutes, then the cycle repeats itself. REM sleep is the most important phase of sleep because the body is internally awake, with waking like brain activity, yet asleep and externally calm. Thus, an uninterrupted REM phase of sleep is necessary for integrating previously learned material, and giving the individual a feeling of being well rested and refreshed. Many individuals will put sleep off so that more work hours, and school work can be fit into the day in order to get a better outcome such as job promotions or better academic grades, but I believe that sleep deprived people show a low performance in daily tasks due to suffering from mental, and physical health disorders. • 19. Wind Energy and Turbines Introduction In today s world, there are many different sources of energy that can be used to generate electricity. When you think of the word energy, what comes to mind? For me, I think of having the ability to do wok, whether it is moving an object from one place to another, compressing a gas, producing heat, sound, or light, and having the ability to power something. One very important source of energy that has become very popular in todays world for a means of power generation is wind energy, wind power, or also known as a wind turbine. What is Wind Energy? Wind is air in motion, and is caused by the uneven heating of the Earth s surface by the sun ( Wind ). Because of this, wind energy has less impact on the environment then other energy sources. Therefore, wind can produce electricity through a turbine or windmill. A wind turbine is a device that converts kinetic energy from the wind into electrical power. ( Wind Turbine ) In order for a wind turbine to work there are many properties that must be present such as: wind, wind speed, location with the right wind, as well as other characteristics that come to play such as short and long term fluctuations and the distribution of wind direction. History of Wind Energy Now that you know what wind energy is, it is time to look at where did the term wind energy originate from. To start, wind energy has been around as early as 200 BC, and was used to ground grain or pump water. One of the first uses of wind energy was by

We can than analyze if a product costs to much to make or the sum of the parts is more than the price of the end product. Product eight had the lowest direct minimum cost ($89.50) and four had the highest minimal direct cost. From a purely economic stand point, it would be beneficial to use as much of raw material twenty three ($5 unit) and as little of raw material twenty two ($30 unit). This does not consider that raw material twenty two may actually be more valuable than raw material twenty three. Perhaps raw material twenty two may be gold or silver and raw material twenty three may be sand or glass. I also converted all information in the sales history per month (figure four of the MANMAN packet). The purpose of this step was so that I could sort and add the sales numbers to chronicle the past twenty four months. Clearly product one was the best selling apparatus, and product three, four and five where sales laggards. Entering the information into spreadsheet form was also necessary to
  • 29. Comparing Brutus And Mark Antony Brutus and Mark Antony both delivered speeches after the death of Julius Caesar, trying to sway the minds of the Romans toward their views. The monologues reveal the speaker s traits. The speeches were contrasting in style but similar in their attempts to win the Romans support. First, considering the way Brutus and Mark Antony began their speech, shows the difference between their attempts. Brutus started off Romans, countrymen, and lovers! He said Romans first because that was how he was addressing them, as Romans. He did what he did for Rome, and he wanted the people to know. He cared for the Romans as a people, more than he cared for Julius Caesar. Friends, Romans, countrymen. That is how Mark Antony started his speech. He used an emotional appeal. He asked of the ... Brutus knew that not everyone was going to agree with him so he used Mob Mentality. He killed Caesar for Rome and he wanted the Romans to realize that. On the other hand, Mark Antony used blank verse as his poetic form. It is a more emotional form of speaking, which is for passionate speeches. And he keeps repeating the same phrase, Yet Brutus he was ambitious, And Brutus is an honorable man. The point Mark Antony was trying to prove while saying that was, while Brutus is an honorable man, he has committed murder. Even though Mark Antony knew he had a good point to his case, he still had to be careful. He didn t want to put down Brutus in any way because at that point the crowd already sided with Brutus. So he needed to make his point while still supporting

Many people in the photos wear their traditional clothes and also take photos in places that have some connection to their history or origin. This shows cultural identity. Taking part in this project gave Native Americans the opportunity to showcase what it means to be a Native American. In the wake of loss of identity through assimilation, this project aims at making the idea of identity to move from generation to generation and preserve identity of Native Americans for future generations. Project 562 has been very effective in updating the Americans views on the Native Americans (Smith p 221). This can be seen in science, theology, music, language, and imaginative play. Science is rational, logical, and orderly. An unnamed God, given the name of The Creator, then appears, and starts to place everything in order. He lets Fire, the lightest element shoot up to its natural place at the furthest reaches of the Universe, and lets Air, a slightly heavier element settle below Fire. Below that he placest all the heavier elements, such as rocks and dirt, which collect at the centre of the universe, and form Earth, therefore making Earth the centre of the Universe. He then lets water flow all over it, makes mountains and fields, organises the different regions of earth and sky, and sends different winds to where they belong. Once everything was no longer in chaos, the stars came out, and The Creator then made animals to inhabit the world. Lastly, man was made, but it is unsure whether it was The Creator who made the men, or Prometheus, the son of Iapetus, who moulded men in the shape of the Gods (Ovid, 1922: 5 89.) To begin the comparison of the two myths, one must look at both the similarities and the differences. However, he mostly ignored women in his theorizing and his sample was largely male. I have never heard of Charlotte Perkins Gilman, which I am unimpressed with because it shows the large ratio of the celebration of women writers in sociologyto male sociologists. In the section The Dependence of Women from Women and Economics (1898), Gilman explains that the partnership of a husband and wife is a not a business partnership. Women seem to earn all they get, and more, by house service (Gilman, 1898, p. 151). Women s labor in the home allows men to produce their wealth outside the home. They aimed not to remake American society, but to merely make the existing system work better and to do this they were willing to make compromises. Progressivism offered the middle class, business leader, and farmers a safe reform. By 1900 the American economy was strong. As a result people of all classes felt more confident and more willing to compromise. Progressives made city and state governments more democratic. They also tightened regulations on business. For Progressives, honest and efficient government was an important goal, but not the ultimate one. They saw government as a tool to be used to promote the welfare of all citizens. Regulating business was, for both city and state governments, a major part of that task. Progressives passed more laws aiming at protecting various groups, especially children. The Populist and Progressives had many similarities. What the Populist fought for the Progressives continued on fighting. • 48. Character Analysis Of Joichiro Nagase The clock ticked on. Ever continuing, never stopping. In a three dimensional world, three dimensional beings such as Joichiro Nagase were able to traverse through all the three dimensions. Length, width, and height. He was, however, not a four dimensional being. He couldn t traverse time as he pleased, and therefore he was locked into the present, ever inching its way towards the future, never revisiting the past. Joichiro Nagase was, as some might assume, an enigmatic character. He was, for all intents and purposes, an otaku, but his character traits didn t end there. He was fairly high in his class and had good enough grades on all fronts. This didn t take away from the fact that he harbored intense asocial tendencies that did much ... He wasn t sure what he did to warrant her friendship, but he chalked it down to her simply being a kind person, despite the rarity of such a trait in today s society. On the back sat the four resident delinquents. Their leader, Eiichiro Iida, had frosted tips, shaved sides and wore shades indoors. His physique was imposing enough, which would serve to deter anyone from seeking trouble from him. To the front row, in the middle sat Kano Asamiya. A guy with a strong sense of justice . In Joichiro s opinion, that was really just a crock of shit. He tended to get riled up quickly when one of the delinquents would harass any of the girls present in this class and would get himself beat up deliberately just to show how much of a martyr he was. The resident bullying victim sat right behind Joichiro. Takeru Murayama was a complete Otaku, down to his bowl cut, awkward glasses and fat physique. Not to mention, the kid s spineless. Whenever that kid got bullied, Kano with his strong sense of justice, was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps it was because Takeru had no boobs? Actually, he does. With that kind of BMI, his boobs even rivalled girls in lower classes. Takeru had no vagina, despite how much his attitude suggested so. Kano had no interest in defending him, leaving him to be the first guy to hit the wall when Eiichiro had one of his tantrums. That was the class of 3 A. It was filled with, as Joichiro migh have it, human beings. Flawed human beings

They decide what price to set and what quantity to produce so as each member receives the maximum gains. However, there are cases where members cheat and undercut the price, maximizing their revenue e.g. Iran and Nigeria in the early 1980 s cut oil prices to earn more market share. (Sloman, Wride (2009). Economics. 7th ed. London: Pearson. p58.) In tacit collusion (informal collusion), the dominant firm or the firm with the most market power usually sets the collaborated price e.g. Brooke Bond was the market leader in the late 1960 s in the tea market, and all other firms matched its price.
